article cited above was written by authors with affiliations to The Cardiovascular Research Group, and
talks about the importance of oxygenating the mitochondria that are affected due to ischemic changes
during an Acute MI. The article goes on to discuss the importance of oxygen during acute myocardial

the benefit of oxygen therapy in acute MI on a more cellular basis, but does not go into length about
the affects that oxygen has on a patient s mortality rate. Bennett, M., Lehm, J., Jepson, N. (2015, July

Newton s Third Law Of Motion Research Paper
Newton s third law of motion also applied to the baseball and enhances baseball. Newton s Third Law
of Motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction . (책) Baseball players,
especially outfielders understand this as a baseball that goes up should come down. () Newton s third
law claims that whenever an object uses force on another object, the second applies an equal and
opposite force from the first object. So, when the ball hits and reaches to the bat, the bat uses a force
on the ball that equals of the ball on the bat. Also, there is a net force on the ball due to the forces
acting on different bodies even these forces are both equal and opposite. (*) Additionally, 뉴턴의 운

Also, the players hips, elbows and shoulders are working equal and opposite. They are all connected
to each other and as well as the rotational mechanics. ($) In addition, skillful players use Newton s
third law to improve their play and to calculate the time taken for a ball to be thrown by the fielder to
reach the target base. For example, Hall of Fame leadoff hitter Ricky Henderson used his velocity and
the laws of motion to hit, get on base and obtain records of 1,406 bases. ( ).To sum up, Newton s third
law of motion is applied to baseball closely and improved this sport with several physical concepts.
In conclusion, Newton s three laws of motions are applied in several parts of baseball play and this
sport has been enhanced through applications of laws of motion. A lot of skillful players are using this

The Last Intervention Day
Unfortunately, I was able to take part only in the last intervention. I was slightly disappointed, but it
was not my choice, but a consequence of the new plan schedule that overlapped with my other
personal activities. I would have to participate in the introductory day but because of a
misunderstanding, the children did not show up that day. This was again a demonstration of how
important is planning in advance and be sure that all the persons involved are informed. However, the
last intervention day was a test run day for me. I was excited to meet for the first time the key players
of the event, but also I felt nervous about speaking in front of them. Engaging young people is always
a challenge. How to capture their attention and truly interest

Ancient Athenian And Egyptian Women
One of the most striking differences between ancient Athenian women and ancient Egyptian women
was the ability to hold positions of power. Egyptian women were monarchs and held other positions
depending on their social status. (Capel 1996, 176) Women were allowed to participate in low ranking
government jobs, especially during war when the men are off fighting and leaving behind their
positions. However, these positions were not kept for long because the men upon return automatically
earned their position back by being the superior sex (Watterson 1991,).
However, ancient Athenian and Egyptian women did have some similarities regarding their role in
society. They were both allowed to become priestesses and attend religious ceremonies, even though
there were different circumstances required at times. Low ranking government positions were made
available to them if their husbands and therefore, by extension themselves, were considered to be
upper class. Both were given the role as the main caretaker of the house in aspects such as cleanliness
and upkeep, as well as caring for the children. Limited citizenship or none at all, depending on the
husbands status in society, was granted to women in both ancient civilizations (Schaps 1979, 4 16;
Joust 1989, 9 18; Harris 1992, 309 321; Robins 1993, 56 156). Both of these civilizations were
patriarchies, causing a suppression of women throughout ancient Athens and Egypt. According to
Turner:

General Purpose: To inform the class
Specific Purpose: To describe to the audience a brief history of Alcatraz.
Thesis: Alcatraz has been a popular social topic because of the mystery that surrounds it and the
stories exaggerated in movies and television shows.
INTRODUCTION
I. If you disobey the rules of society, they send you to prison; if you disobey the rules of the prison,
they send you to Alcatraz.
II. Alcatraz has been a popular social topic because of the mystery that surrounds it and the stories of
mistreatment and escape attempts exaggerated in movies and television shows.

At Alcatraz, there was not special treatment for any inmate, though many tried. C. As quoted in a
report by the Bureau of Prisons, ... Alcatraz served an important purpose in taking the strain off the
older and greatly overcrowded institutions... since it enabled us to move the smaller, closely guarded
escape artists, the big time racketeers... and those who needed protection from other groups...
Now that you know the kind of prisoners that were sent to Alcatraz,
II. I will discuss life on the island and as an inmate in the prison. A. Each prisoner received a copy of
the Rules and Regulations for the Government... Correctional Institutions as well as a copy of the
warden s special rules that explained the daily routine of work and counts. The inmates were
awakened at 6:30am to begin their day. They were required to clean up themselves and their cell and
required to shave three times a week. B. Alcatraz was to be operated on the principle of very limited
privileges to inmates. The privilege of visitors had to be earned, and mail privileges were limited.
They each held jobs within the prison in the tailor shop, laundry, cobblers shop, model shop,
gardening, or help with the food prep in the mess hall. C. Contrary to what the movies portray, there
were no experiments made on the prisoners, and the inmates that were transferred there were already
twisted and disturbed; Alcatraz didn t turn them into monsters. There was however, a dungeon that

They are the rappers who would be working with 2Pac on Makaveli Records . Anywayz, one of the
members who went by the name kadafi was reportedly going to cooperate with the police. Well, soon
after the death of 2Pac he turns up dead. Hmmmm....Have you noticed how Death Row Records now
goes by the name New Untouchable . What s with that?? This name started being used when the
Makaveli album came out... Why are they so suddenly untouchable? Death Row Records could have
also done a lot of this stuff you re about that s proving 2Pac is Alive. They could be doing this stuff for
publicity. Example : They could have made up that whole 7 Day Theory stuff. (Refer to Alive List).
And, I m almost sure they put 2Pac on the cover of the Makaveli album posed as Jesus Christ for
publicity. f course let s not forget the mysterious Suge Shot Him . If you turn the volume way up......
In the first 3 seconds of the Makaveli album your hear someone say Suge Shot Him . You hear the
voice right before the first bell. I wonder about this though... Is it someone from Death Row Records
who knew what was going on with Suge Knight killing him or was it just some publicity stunt for
more album sales?Okay Let s talk about that night at the Tyson fight when 2Pac was shot... You ve all
probably heard about Orlando Anderson and how Suge got in a fight and was caught on surveillance
cameras. So, I won t get into that. Anywayz... I ve heard a rumor . I ve heard Suge Knight was caught
on surveillance cameras at the fight telling 2Pac to take off the vest because it was hot in there. If this
is true, why would Suge Knight not want 2Pac wearing his vest? What about what Suge Knight did
after 2Pac was shot? Well, as you know 2Pac was shot 5 times and Suge s head was grazed by a bullet.
I ve heard 2Pac said to Suge, Don t worry about me. You re shot in the head . Anywayz, as 2Pac lost

The Handmaid s Tale Literacy Essay
ENG4U: The Handmaid s Tale Literacy Essay Shoshannah Lewis Margret Atwood s The Handmaid s
Tale takes place in the closely monitored, male dominant area of Gilead where women are deprived of
their sexual and human rights, forbidding them to live independently. For many years prior to Gilead s
existence, women were seen as inferior to men and neglected of basic human rights such as voting,
career opportunities, and equal salaries. The Republic of Gilead was later introduced following the
transition of the United States government into a totalitarian leadership style, giving the government
complete and all power amongst society. Very similar to the second wave of feminism, where women
fought for reproductive rights, women are doing so in this near future setting of Gilead. In the novel, a
future is revealed in which female fertility has completely dwindled. Thus, women who are still fertile
are labeled Handmaid s and are sent to different upper class commanders for reproduction. With this
being said, the fact that only certain women are capable of reproduction forces completion amongst
the sex due to the high sexual standards society expects the female gender to meet. The novel follows
a Handmaid by the name of Offred, and her fight with sexual repression and exploitation of women
within the corrupt Republic of Gilead s. Atwood takes an alternative method of portraying feminism
throughout this novel by writing a stark contrast of feminism, portraying the women within The

Kentucky Education Reform Act Seeks Help Address The...
Kentucky was the state in where school finance system was relied heavily on local property tax
revenues and resulted large inequality gap in spending per pupil and student achievement gap between
wealth and poor districts. Kentucky Educational Reform Act seeks to address the problem of
unconstitutionality by bringing lawsuits against state from 66 Kentucky school districts where
receiving the low property tax bases. In 1989, the Rose v. Council produced most radical changes out
of court rulings at that time because KERA was the first attempt and experiment to integrate so many
parts into one package as comprehensive policy and no state ever tried it before. They found that

This new spending budget targeted the risk students population who need to be improved. Although
there were little criticism on KERA from anti tax citizens and organization concerning against state
involvement in local schools, it never became obstacle to write a bill. To the weakened and unjust
educational system in Kentucky public schools, KERA acted as systemic reform and adequacy reform
that orders problems and correct state s schools. One scholar said that KERA changed everything at
once from school governance, curriculum and finance system.
Kentucky had higher proportion of population who are in poverty than any other states except the five
states and Kentucky had weak education system in which 69% of the citizens in Kentucky over age 25
completed at least a year of high school in compared to national figure was 82%. The president of the
Council for Better Education and Carnegie Foundation characterized the Kentucky education as
crumbling because they saw that the half of teachers teaching subjects unqualified to teach and school
s development was retarding that influence economic retardation as well. The case of Rose v. Council
for Better Education, which the court proved Kentucky s public education system is inadequate,
inequitable and thus, unconstitutional, marked the starting point as to make more equitable and
efficient public schools. By late 1980s, there was

Compare And Contrast Existentialism And Nihilism
Let s say that you had to choose to believe in one of the following schools of philosophies:
Existentialism and Nihilism. What would you choose? You wouldn t take a long time deciding
because these two are significantly different from one another. Existentialism is when you appreciate
life and you live your life passionately; believing that your actions will determine your fate and
therefore you can change it. Nihilism however, is the exact opposite. Anything that restrains you from
living your life to the fullest is considered to be nihilistic and you just believe in nothing because at
the end that s worthless. In Grendel, the two most dominant schools of philosophy presented are

An example of when he donned his coaching cape was towards the beginning of the movie when he
said to Coach Yoast, I came here to coach the G.W. I didn t ask the schools to re district and I didn t
ask to be assigned to your staff, so I guess we re both in a situation we don t want to be in. But I can
guarantee you this coach. I come to win. This is a great display of his passion for football, winning
and his coach like aura that he emanates so well with his words. Another role he takes on is a teacher.
He becomes a teacher, off the football pitch when he decided to help Louie Lastic boost his marks, so
that he would be eligible to go to college at the end of the year. He helped Louie outside of training
and tutored him so that he could pass. This is not necessary for a coach to do, since it is more than
what he is required to do and yet he did it anyway. This demonstrates that he cared about individual
team members as well as the whole team and that falls well in hand next to his coaching methods.
Coach Boone s coaching method was intense and authoritarian like. There are many ways of coaching
a sporting team or sportsman, but Coach Boone s motto was undeniably, This is the line. Say goodbye
to it now because we aren t just crossing the line. We going far away from it. He pushed his players to

The Evolution of the Meaning of Life
The complex idea of the meaning of life came to be first through the Hindu teachings. The four main
purposes of life are Dharma meaning to act virtuously and righteously. Artha means the prosperity and
successfulness in one s life. Kama being the concept of whatever action a person makes, they will
receive the same back. Moksha is the proceeding of a spirit into another being according to their past
life.
Following the Hindus, then came the Dao teachings of life, using the five elements earth, wind, fire,
water, and air for fulfilling one s personal goal in accomplishing a successful life. Through the use of
the elements, Daoists have found certain rules of nature that are shown in our human existence.
Because of the elements, our lives are constantly affected by outside forces and by nature itself.
Therefore knowledge of the principles of nature will help a person move from being troubled by
outside forces to being led by the natural inside forces that are centered in peace beyond outside
forces. By following Tao, or the way, one must mentally teach oneself the capabilities of being
successful in life on Earth. Tao is not a god but more of a way or self encouragement type of
movement.
The meaning of life in Confucianism is to follow the ways of Confucius to achieve your personal goal.
Confucius believed that Tien Ming was that all living things are under the ultimate control

How Did Leonardo Da Vinci Was Crucial For The Renaissance
Culture
1. Use specific examples to explain why the work of Leonardo da Vinci was crucial for the
development of Renaissance.
When we consider the term Renaissance it speaks about the revitalizing of the European art and
literature which represents the culture. This is done through influencing classical models during the
period of 14th 16th century.
Pierro da Vinci s son Leonardo da Vinci had an innate talented artist known for his perfection. His
artistic ability was widely appreciated, especially the work he undergone for the request of King.
Those works were not only paints; it also includes the architectural figures. Even the undone

Leonardo da Vinci s early childhood reveals that he made various models depicting his architectural
talent, those highlights the work was designed in a way to ease the work of people around him and
bring the sense of living in the world around them.
Without mentioning Leonardo s work we can t talk about the development of Renaissance, because his

The Zika Virus is a relatively newer virus. Scientists have yet to determine many characteristics of the
contagion, but they do have many tests to determine if one is infected. Some examples include
Trioplex Real Time RT PCR assay, the Zika MAC ELISA, RNA NAT, and PRNT testing. Trioplex
Real Time RT PCR is for detection and differentiation of RNA from dengue and chikungunya viruses
which look similar to the ZIKV and are also spread by mosquito bites. The Zika MAC ELISA detects
if anti Zika IgM antibodies were detected in the Cerebral Spinal Fluid(CSF) of the patient. In RNA

The zEDIII is the domain of the E protein which binds receptors and contains epitopes of neutralizing
antibodies against ZIKV. In this multi step experiment conducted by Yang (and others) they found
characteristics of zEDIII such as its potent immunogenicity, its refolding and purification factors, and
its lack of ADE(antibody dependent enhancement) which make it a promising vaccine hopeful if they
can enhance/confirm its safety. In this experiment they concluded that complete protection against the
ZIKV comes from a purified inactivated ZIKV, a plasmid DNA, and an E protein (prM E). Scientists
have the foundation, but it is going to take much more research to ensure no harm would come from
this potential vaccination. This experiment demonstrated for the very first time that the immunization
of recombinant zEDIII protein (different genetic material) provided a strong antigen specific response
to ZIKV neutralization which is correlated to protection from the virus demonstrated in mice. They are

Theme Of Love In City Lights
I. The one theme that connects all the films we have watched in this class is an overall theme of love
this love presents itself in many different ways. In City Lights, the love between The tramp and the
blind girl, in Central Station it is the love between two strangers, Dora and Josue, The Namesake has
the love in an arranged marriage, Children of Heaven, the love between a brother and sister, and The
Kite Runner has love between two best friends that transcends the generations. All of these movies
have very different sets of characters, plots, settings, and cultures but the one theme connecting them
all is love. This love presents itself in many different ways, but the love is present all the same.
City Lights by Charlie Chaplin took place right here in the United States and started off the semester
with a traditional view of love as a culture we often view falling in love with someone as the ideal
what everyone wants. We especially want someone to love us for who we are, not the money or things
that we have. In City Lights, the Tramp inadvertently tricks the blind girl into thinking that he has a lot
of money. However despite this deception, he loves her, he wants to do what is best for her, even if it
gets him in trouble or sends her away from him. He tries working hard to get her what she needs a
cure for her blindness. Working hard does not work out for him, and he goes to great lengths to get the
money for her, including the boxing match and asking the millionaire for help. He does this because
he loves her deeply and he wants what is best for her. The movie ends with her being able to see and
still accepting him despite the fact that he is not a millionaire. This film portrays the great American
love story putting the other person first, and loving them despite their circumstances.
Central Station from Brazil by Walter Salles depicts a different kind of love. This movie could have
been about Josue, and the love with his mother or his brothers at the end when he finds them instead it
is about the love between him and Dora, an old, sad woman with no relation to him. Throughout the
film, Dora always tries to do what she thinks is best for Josue. It is misguided at first, when she sells

Informal Formative Assessment
Formative assessment is formal and informal processes teachers and students use to gather evidence
for the purpose of improving learning. Some think it should be applied only to the minute to minute
and day to day interactions between students and teachers, while others also see interim, or
benchmark, tests administered every six to ten weeks as formative (Wiliam, 2013). Taras (2009) used
the word formative to mean the provision of feedback on tests from small learning units which make
up a mastery learning framework. These two terms are little bit confusing unless teachers apply it in
the appropriate context with relevant information (SHEPARD, 2013).
Formative is the use of day to day, often informal, assessments to explore pupils understanding so that
the teacher can best decide how to help them to develop that understanding. Summative is the more
formal summing up of a pupil s progress that can then be used for purposes ranging from providing
information to parents to certification as part of a formal examination course (Mansell, W., James, M.
the Assessment Reform Group, 2009).

Formative assessment gives feedback and information amid the instructional procedure, while
learning is occurring, keeping in mind learning is happening. Formative assessment measures student

George W. Bush Administration
The George W. Bush administration is remarkably renowned for passing a major tax cuts package,
known as the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, (Bartels, 2005, p. 19). The
package postulated a reduction in the federal income tax rates, increment in the child credits,
augmented tax free retirement contributions and the educational savings account, as well as a gradual
elimination of the US estate tax. The entire tax package was to cost the US Treasury over $1.3 trillion
(excluding interest) up to 2010, the expected expiry time of the package. If the system was to continue
in the later years, the Treasury could end up spending over $200 billion each year. According to
Bartels (2005), The Bush move was supported by the ordinary citizens before the passage of the
package. The people s support was not meant to imply the way they were impressed with the package
as contributing to inequality, as they were mainly concerned with their own individual welfare.
Notably, they wanted a system that could relieve them from paying massive or burdensome amounts
of taxes. Though contrary to the perception of the legislation by the people and their personal
preferences regarding it, 36% of the tax benefits were to accrue to the richest, who comprised only one
percent of the American population. The share was almost equal to the one that was received by those
in the bottom who constituted around 80% of the population (Hacker Pierson, p. 33).

Sunspot Lab Report
Introduction
The sun is an enormous bright yellow circle object visible in the sky daytime. Astronomers believe
that it is one of the many stars which the earth orbits in our galaxy. The sun is thought to be the
midpoint of the solar system based on the assertion that it is the only star in the solar system that is the
source of energy for all the other planets. According to geometry facts, the sun acts as the hub of the
solar system since all the other components of the solar system go around it on all sides (Haugen,
2002). The sun is vital to the solar system since it used as the center of research, study, and forecasting
not only in space travel but also on earth.

system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, around the 17th century, the cycle of the solar for several decades appeared appears to
have halted, and few spots were noted, a period referred to as Maunder minimum (Vogt, 2012). This
period coincided with the period of cooling in Europe characterized by abnormally cold temperatures.
Through the analysis of tree rings, the extended minima became a discovery and seemed to
correspond with the global temperatures that usually became lower that the average ones (Vogt, 2012).
Today, the sun illuminates the most life supporting part of the earth. Over the past four billion years,
this hasn t dramatically changed and is predicted not to change soon over the past five billion years (
NASA Solar System Exploration, 2017). But after the cessation of hydrogen fusion, the sun may
undergo some changes. The Sun plays the role of providing living things with light, energy, and
warmth while they are on earth. Interactions and connections between the earth and the sun drive

General Mills Case
Introduction
In the late 1990 s and early 2000 s the food industry was struggling with weak sales and low inflation
which caused waves of consolidation among some of the largest firms in the industry. In 1998 General
Mills studied areas of potential growth and value creation for their company which lead to small
acquisitions of other firms. Looking to further grow their company, in December 2000, management
of General Mills made a recommendation to its shareholders that they authorize the creation of more
shares of common stock and approve a proposal for the company to acquire Pillsbury Company, a
producer of baked goods, from Diageo PLC.

This results from the fact that it is a mature segment with many well established companies vying for
market share. The industry is highly consolidated and very fragmented. To grow their businesses,
companies rely heavily on mergers and acquisitions to capture additional market share. Historically,
the grocery industry has been characterized by slow growth which results in strong price competition
and the development of aggressive marketing campaigns between existing firms. Perceived product
quality and strong brand recognition by consumers are the basis of competition among firms in the
industry. The source of General Mills competitive advantage lies in its ability to develop innovative
products and highly reputable brands. As a result, they hold cost leadership positions across a number
of grocery categories. Exhibit 1 shows the top US companies according to their sale of packaged foods
globally. Market leaders include Kraft Foods, PepsiCo, Nestle, Mars, Kellogg, and General Mills,
however, neither company possess an overwhelming share of global sales. This is in part due to the
large degree of product diversity throughout the industry and the strong brand rivalry of each
competitor s labels.
Threat of Substitutes
The threat of customers finding substitute products from other manufacturers in the food industry is
high. In the ready to eat breakfast cereals segment, General Mills primary business focus, there are a

Aggression And Its Effects On Schools
Aggression in Schools
Aggression remains a behavior between people from the same species that is aimed at causing harm or
pain and is considered an initiator of violence. According to sources, there is an increase of violent
acts in schools with the troubled students needing a habilitative service as compared to punishments
(Dailey, Frey, Walker, 2015). It is essential to consider the fact that aggressive behaviors do not
develop over a short period, thus its eradication as well would not be undertaken in a short time.
It is critical to note that teachers remain wholly responsible for the developing and modeling of
aggressive behaviors among students that occurs either positively or negatively (Dailey, et.al).

These functions are mainly influenced by power and control, self gratification, the pursuit of attention
and escape. The primary purpose of aggressive behavior is to inflict, injure or gain something from an
aggressor, a factor that apparently determines the need to find solutions into this vice.
Farrell, Henry, Mays, Schoeny (2011) give the variable between instrumental and hostile aggression.
In his literature, he alleges that the instrumental aggressions are the actions that are aimed at enforcing
an extraneous reward rather than the suffering of an individual. An instance of this can be determined
by a student who steals football boots from another student s bag. On the other hand, hostile
aggression infers to the actions that are committed to producing injurious outcomes through an
approach aimed at gaining resources, power and status within a school environment.
Aggressive behaviors range from verbal, nonverbal or physical acts that are aimed at causing a direct
or indirect injury to a student with the aggressor seeking to gain from such conduct. A student s body
language may also depict an aggressive behavior in a manner that clearly depicts the element of anger,
frustration, rage, humiliation among other feelings that warrant their aggressive behaviors (Farrell,
et.al). An instance where a student shows a verbal behavior is always demonstrated

In summary, the diagnosis of cutaneous tuberculosis is based on clinical features, demonstration of
acid fast bacilli on smear, tissue culture, skin biopsy, and in recent years, PCR which has shown to be
of importance in laboratory diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. However, the yield from culture
and PCR is often low and diagnoses may need to depend on clinical features, histopathological
findings, and retrospective review of response to treatment(1); the diagnosis of the child who is
presented in this case report was established on clinico histopathological basis following a wedge
biopsy from the lesion. Conclusion The aim of this case report is to emphasize on the role of early
diagnosis by having a high index of suspicion of any form of cutaneous tuberculosis like Lupus

Akeelah And The Bee Essay
In this short clip, the film Akeelah and the Bee demonstrates a couple verbal and nonverbal cues that
display liking, affection, and involvement while also showing others like hostility and dislike. The
audience can observe a good example of cues involving liking in the relationship of Akeelah and
Javier, and also observe good examples of hostility between Akeelah and Georgia and mostly, Akeelah
and Dylan. Beginning with Akeelah and Javier, Akeelah shows involvement when she wants to go to
his birthday party in the first place. By going to his party, it shows that she likes him or is interested in
him. Javier meets her outside of the house and they sit down on a bench to talk; Javier then invites

There is a clear dislike from the beginning when the audience hears Akeelah verbally and directly ask
Javier: why d you invite Dylan? A little bit later on, we see that Dylan is clearly an entitled scrabble
player because he brings a number of gamesets so he can play against everyone at the party. When
Dylan asks for one more volunteer, Akeelah volunteers and Dylan reacts by giving her a really heavy
glare. This glare is a direct nonverbal cue that he doesn t like Akeelah and that she is basically his rival
for stepping up to the challenge. When Akeelah completes her first turn with an extremely high
scoring word, Dylan gives Akeelah a look of disgust but composes himself and gets a word that scores
almost as high. Dylan s look displayed nonverbally that he had underestimated Akeelah but that he
still despised her and wanted to beat her. Dylan begins to show some mercy when he feels like he is
gonna lose but then says arrivederci and rubs it in Akeelah s face when he actually ends up winning.
There is an extreme dislike between Akeelah and Dylan and I wouldn t be surprised if based on this
short clip, they are rivals throughout the whole

Anselm s Ontological Argument On The Existence Of God
Anselm s Ontological argument sets out to not only prove God s existence, but to show that God s
existence is self evident. Similar to other ontological arguments, it uses a priori knowledge to argue its
validity, meaning that the propositions made are derived from internal reasoning instead of sense
experience. The argument begins with Anselm defining the term God as that, than which nothing
greater can be conceived (pg.26). Although simple, once this term is accepted Anselm believes he has
successfully proven the existence of God. This becomes clearer with further analysis. If God is a being
that, than which nothing greater can be conceived, it naturally follows that God would possess all
properties of greatness. An example of this would be omnipotence. Omnipotence would be such a
property because it is greater to have ultimate power than to have limited power, therefore, God being
the greatest conceivable being would possess the property of omnipotence. Likewise, it is greater for
something to exist in both reality and the mind, than to exist only in the mind. Thus, just as
omnipotence was ascribed to God so must the property of existence, for if God did not exist, he would
be lacking a great making property, and consequently would be only a great being, but not the greatest
conceivable being.
Existence being am inherent property of God s essence is why Anselm believes God s existence to be
self evident. However, as Anselm states the fool has said in his heart, There

The Theory Of Development Concepts And Applications By...
Sadly, my early years of child rearing were not of heavy observation on my part! Our home was one
of somewhat traditional roles in terms of family dynamic. I worked long hours away from the home
and didn t have the one on one contact with our children that my wife had, and enjoyed. I of course
got the play by play from her, but in hind sight, I was deprived of so many beautiful observations. Our
text Theories of Development Concepts and Applications by William Crain outlines human
development by many theorists. A few of those are John Bowlby, Mary D.S. Ainsworth, and Erik H.
Erikson. I couldn t help but reminisce about the stages of my own children s growth while reading the
work of Bowlby, Ainsworth and Erikson. I remember having my young children with me when ever it
was possible, but what attachments to them might I have missed while I was busy working or did I
miss any at all? Bowlby s work on attachment gives a compelling argument as to the importance of
attachment in the first 6 months of a Childs life. Ainsworth s work is focused on the idea of a child
using the parent as a base for further exploration of their surroundings. Erikson s work on the other
hand considers the role of society and culture in development. In reading these works, the theories
appear to be easily stitched together to give an all encompassing view of human development over an
entire life time and how our attachment to our parents is critical to that development. Let s further

The Unemployment Rate Of The United States
The national unemployment rate in the United States from December 2015 is 5.0 percent, which has
reduced from the previous months in 2015. The unemployment rates for Whites are 4.5 percent, which
is lower than the national average. But sadly the unemployment rates for minorities are much higher.
According to bls.gov the rate for unemployment for African Americans is 8.3 percent; although this
number is the lowest it has been since 2007, theirs is still higher than the national average. The
unemployment rate for Mexican Americans (Hispanics) is 6.3 percent and for Asian Americans is 4.0
percent. This shows that overall African Americans still have higher unemployment than every other
demographic since December 2016. The unemployment rate is measured by a division of the
Department of Labor known as the Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov). This government agency
conducts a monthly survey called the Current Population Survey that involves 60,000 households.
These households are selected using random sampling methods designed to generate as close an
approximation as possible to the larger population. Unemployment occurs mostly when someone who
is actively searching for employment is unable to find work. But however people without a job are not
necessarily unemployed according to bls.gov. But according to cnn.com there were over 5.4 million
jobs opened in the U.S in April 2015 alone. So why does it seem that there are so many people mostly
minorities not being able to find a

Métis Argumentative Essay
I believe the Métis became the least unified as the result of confederation.
To begin with, in 1869, The Government of Canada, Great Britain, and the Hudson s Bay Company
sign an agreement whereby Rupert s land is sold to the Dominion of Canada. Métis, Indians, and
settlers are not consulted. And this event affects at least 10,000 Metis and other people who already
living in Rupert s land.
Secondly, Louis Riel is the leader of the Metis people, Louis Riel intervened. Believing that the Métis
future lay with Canada, not with the United States, he assured the Lieutenant Governor that the Métis
would not join the Fenians and he kept his word. For want of local support, the Fenian attack died
before it had begun. Archibald was prepared to leave him in peace. However, this feeling was not
shared by all and Archibald came to believe that peace would be restored more quickly if Riel left the
country for a while. Riel and Lépine left Manitoba on February 23, 1872, and traveled to St. ... Show

together and to be together.
Also, In 1937, The first Métis specific organization is formed in Canada, The Métis Nation of
Saskatchewan. This event helps the Métis to be unified.
Another reason why, in the early 1990s, by the will of Ontario Métis, the Métis Nation of Ontario
represents the collective aspirations, rights, and interests of Métis people and communities throughout
Ontario. And This event helps the Métis to be unified.
Lastly, Suggestions based on today s society I think that the Métis will not be the least unified in today
s society because others don t have the right to sell others land without permission so they will not be
spread.
Finally, Those are the reasons that I believe the Métis are the least unified as the result of

Visit: The Millennium Bridge
For our physics practical, we visited The Millennium Bridge a pedestrian footbridge located at the
heart of London that crosses the River Thames. It links the City and St Paul s Cathedral to the north
with the Globe Theatre and Tate Modern on Bankside. Construction of this infrastructure began in the
late 1998 by the engineering company Arup and it was launched on the 10 June 2000.
Structure of Bridge:
Structurally, the bridge is a composition of two key metals steel (2 x 1011 Nm 2) and aluminum.

This feature was achieved by ensuring that the sag ratio remained low. The bridge has also become a
navigation site for many commercial and tourist traffic in the River Thames Waterways.
Problems Occurred:
Furthermore, when the millennium bridge opened within the first weekend around 100,000 people had
crossed the bridge. Due to such heavy traffic, this lead to something called resonance. Resonance is
when the input vibrations frequency coincides with the natural frequency of the structure itself,
causing large deflections to develop. The issue caused the bridge to undergo a swaying movement;
hence led to its closure. After extensive research and analysis, it was found that the movement was
caused by synchronized pedestrian footfall. To prevent this there were two options taken into account
the lateral stiffening and the damping; both were used in order to increase the natural frequency of the
structure so it did not match the footfall. In addition structures called fluid viscous dampers and tuned
mass dampers were installed to control both horizontal and vertical movements.
In Relation To Practical:
The visit influences our practical as we gain an understanding of how in the engineering industry
selection of materials is determined using indicators such as Young s Modulus. Young s Modulus is a
measure of stiffness that is independent of the particular sample of a substance. This indicator is very
vital as it determines the material s strength, toughness

Fort Collins Medical Center And The University Of Colorado...
In the following document Banner Fort Collins Medical Center (BFMC) and the University of
Colorado Health at Poudre Valley Hospital (UC Health at PVH) will be examined. To begin with, both
organizations will be briefly described. Then a nursing philosophy will be introduced for each
organization. Following the nursing philosophy, a compare and contrast of each organization s
philosophy will be illuminated. Finally, the summary will conclude with any additional thoughts on
philosophy as it relates to the findings of the two organizations described. Initially BFMC was born
with the merger of two nonprofit organizations, the Samaritan Health System and the Lutheran Health
System in 1999 (Banner Medical Center (BMC), 2016). Today BMC has grown into one of the largest
non profit healthcare systems in the country with its 29 hospital networks in 7 states, and greater than
39,000 employees (BMC, 2016). This past spring of 2015, Banner opened up its 29th hospital in Fort
Collins, Colorado. The facility currently has 24 beds and 149 employees (BMC, 2016). Key services
that the Fort Collins facility provides are; emergency care, medical imaging, orthopedics, surgery,
women s services and telehealth (BMC, 2016). Because BFMC is new to town they do not have a

Contributions Of Florence Nightingale
Florence Nightingale pioneered nursing during the 19th and 20th centuries. She began her work by
improving sanitation in military hospitals and then established the standard form of nursing. Florence
Nightingale embodied the qualities of the Grad at Grad document through her strong work ethic,
promotion of justice, and her ability to gain trust that facilitated the development of leadership.
On May 12, 1820, Florence Nightingale was born to William Edward and Frances Nightingale who
were wealthy landowners. As a result, Florence Nightingale lived a comfortable life and was well
educated, however, she was never content to only observe traditional women s roles but preferred to
have discussions about politics and social discourse with her father. When she was sixteen, she
reported experiencing a calling from God telling her to serve God by reducing human suffering and
Ms. Nightingale believed nursing was the answer to that. Her parents and family believed that nursing
was an inappropriate occupation for women of her social status. Despite her family s negative views,
Florence persisted in the pursuit of her goal and eventually enrolled as a nursing student in the
Institution of Protestant Deaconesses at Kaiserswerth, Germany for a two week long training class.
Through her family connections, Florence Nightingale secured a job working as superintendent of the
Institution for Sick Gentlewomen in London. As superintendent, Florence Nightingale was able to

Newton s Third Law of Motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction . (책) Baseball players, especially outfielders understand this as a baseball that goes up should come down. () Newton s third law claims that whenever an object uses force on another object, the second applies an equal and opposite force from the first object. So, when the ball hits and reaches to the bat, the bat uses a force on the ball that equals of the ball on the bat. Also, there is a net force on the ball due to the forces acting on different bodies even these forces are both equal and opposite. • 6. Ancient Athenian And Egyptian Women One of the most striking differences between ancient Athenian women and ancient Egyptian women was the ability to hold positions of power. Egyptian women were monarchs and held other positions depending on their social status. (Capel 1996, 176) Women were allowed to participate in low ranking government jobs, especially during war when the men are off fighting and leaving behind their positions. However, these positions were not kept for long because the men upon return automatically earned their position back by being the superior sex (Watterson 1991,). However, ancient Athenian and Egyptian women did have some similarities regarding their role in society. They were both allowed to become priestesses and attend religious ceremonies, even though there were different circumstances required at times. Low ranking government positions were made available to them if their husbands and therefore, by extension themselves, were considered to be upper class. Both were given the role as the main caretaker of the house in aspects such as cleanliness and upkeep, as well as caring for the children. Limited citizenship or none at all, depending on the husbands status in society, was granted to women in both ancient civilizations (Schaps 1979, 4 16; Joust 1989, 9 18; Harris 1992, 309 321; Robins 1993, 56 156). Both of these civilizations were patriarchies, causing a suppression of women throughout ancient Athens and Egypt. According to Turner: A patriarchal relationship is one in which ... • 9. The Handmaid s Tale Literacy Essay ENG4U: The Handmaid s Tale Literacy Essay Shoshannah Lewis Margret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale takes place in the closely monitored, male dominant area of Gilead where women are deprived of their sexual and human rights, forbidding them to live independently. For many years prior to Gilead s existence, women were seen as inferior to men and neglected of basic human rights such as voting, career opportunities, and equal salaries. The Republic of Gilead was later introduced following the transition of the United States government into a totalitarian leadership style, giving the government complete and all power amongst society. Very similar to the second wave of feminism, where women fought for reproductive rights, women are doing so in this near future setting of Gilead. In the novel, a future is revealed in which female fertility has completely dwindled. Thus, women who are still fertile are labeled Handmaid s and are sent to different upper class commanders for reproduction. With this being said, the fact that only certain women are capable of reproduction forces completion amongst the sex due to the high sexual standards society expects the female gender to meet. The novel follows a Handmaid by the name of Offred, and her fight with sexual repression and exploitation of women within the corrupt Republic of Gilead s. Atwood takes an alternative method of portraying feminism throughout this novel by writing a stark contrast of feminism, portraying the women within The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Meaning Of Life Gilberto Fernandez Mrs. Manley Philosophy 13 December 2017 The Evolution of the Meaning of Life The complex idea of the meaning of life came to be first through the Hindu teachings. The four main purposes of life are Dharma meaning to act virtuously and righteously. Artha means the prosperity and successfulness in one s life. Kama being the concept of whatever action a person makes, they will receive the same back. Moksha is the proceeding of a spirit into another being according to their past life. Following the Hindus, then came the Dao teachings of life, using the five elements earth, wind, fire, water, and air for fulfilling one s personal goal in accomplishing a successful life. Through the use of the elements, Daoists have found certain rules of nature that are shown in our human existence. Because of the elements, our lives are constantly affected by outside forces and by nature itself. Therefore knowledge of the principles of nature will help a person move from being troubled by outside forces to being led by the natural inside forces that are centered in peace beyond outside forces. By following Tao, or the way, one must mentally teach oneself the capabilities of being successful in life on Earth. Tao is not a god but more of a way or self encouragement type of movement. The meaning of life in Confucianism is to follow the ways of Confucius to achieve your personal goal. Confucius believed that Tien Ming was that all living things are under the ultimate control ... There is a short trail through the woods in front of the building, and most of the dogs love walking up and down it, so I would take them through there, too. I went to Paws one day and brought one of the running buddy dogs, Belle, to campus during lunch hour. My friends enjoyed playing with her, and she loved being out of the building in a new place. We took a walk around campus, and when I took her back to Paws, she was exhausted but so happy from all the fun she had. • 18. Zika Virus Lab Report The Zika Virus is a relatively newer virus. Scientists have yet to determine many characteristics of the contagion, but they do have many tests to determine if one is infected. Some examples include Trioplex Real Time RT PCR assay, the Zika MAC ELISA, RNA NAT, and PRNT testing. Trioplex Real Time RT PCR is for detection and differentiation of RNA from dengue and chikungunya viruses which look similar to the ZIKV and are also spread by mosquito bites. The Zika MAC ELISA detects if anti Zika IgM antibodies were detected in the Cerebral Spinal Fluid(CSF) of the patient. In RNA NAT (Nucleic Acid Testing) is a blood screening test to detect pathogens. The zEDIII is the domain of the E protein which binds receptors and contains epitopes of neutralizing antibodies against ZIKV. In this multi step experiment conducted by Yang (and others) they found characteristics of zEDIII such as its potent immunogenicity, its refolding and purification factors, and its lack of ADE(antibody dependent enhancement) which make it a promising vaccine hopeful if they can enhance/confirm its safety. In this experiment they concluded that complete protection against the ZIKV comes from a purified inactivated ZIKV, a plasmid DNA, and an E protein (prM E). Scientists have the foundation, but it is going to take much more research to ensure no harm would come from this potential vaccination. This experiment demonstrated for the very first time that the immunization of recombinant zEDIII protein (different genetic material) provided a strong antigen specific response to ZIKV neutralization which is correlated to protection from the virus demonstrated in mice. They are making huge steps towards a Zika vaccination. • 19. Theme Of Love In City Lights I. The one theme that connects all the films we have watched in this class is an overall theme of love this love presents itself in many different ways. In City Lights, the love between The tramp and the blind girl, in Central Station it is the love between two strangers, Dora and Josue, The Namesake has the love in an arranged marriage, Children of Heaven, the love between a brother and sister, and The Kite Runner has love between two best friends that transcends the generations. All of these movies have very different sets of characters, plots, settings, and cultures but the one theme connecting them all is love. This love presents itself in many different ways, but the love is present all the same. City Lights by Charlie Chaplin took place right here in the United States and started off the semester with a traditional view of love as a culture we often view falling in love with someone as the ideal what everyone wants. We especially want someone to love us for who we are, not the money or things that we have. In City Lights, the Tramp inadvertently tricks the blind girl into thinking that he has a lot of money. However despite this deception, he loves her, he wants to do what is best for her, even if it gets him in trouble or sends her away from him. He tries working hard to get her what she needs a cure for her blindness. Working hard does not work out for him, and he goes to great lengths to get the money for her, including the boxing match and asking the millionaire for help. He does this because he loves her deeply and he wants what is best for her. The movie ends with her being able to see and still accepting him despite the fact that he is not a millionaire. This film portrays the great American love story putting the other person first, and loving them despite their circumstances. Central Station from Brazil by Walter Salles depicts a different kind of love. This movie could have been about Josue, and the love with his mother or his brothers at the end when he finds them instead it is about the love between him and Dora, an old, sad woman with no relation to him. Throughout the film, Dora always tries to do what she thinks is best for Josue. It is misguided at first, when she sells him to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Informal Formative Assessment Formative assessment is formal and informal processes teachers and students use to gather evidence for the purpose of improving learning. Some think it should be applied only to the minute to minute and day to day interactions between students and teachers, while others also see interim, or benchmark, tests administered every six to ten weeks as formative (Wiliam, 2013). Taras (2009) used the word formative to mean the provision of feedback on tests from small learning units which make up a mastery learning framework. These two terms are little bit confusing unless teachers apply it in the appropriate context with relevant information (SHEPARD, 2013). Formative is the use of day to day, often informal, assessments to explore pupils understanding so that the teacher can best decide how to help them to develop that understanding. Summative is the more formal summing up of a pupil s progress that can then be used for purposes ranging from providing information to parents to certification as part of a formal examination course (Mansell, W., James, M. the Assessment Reform Group, 2009). • 21. George W. Bush Administration The George W. Bush administration is remarkably renowned for passing a major tax cuts package, known as the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, (Bartels, 2005, p. 19). The package postulated a reduction in the federal income tax rates, increment in the child credits, augmented tax free retirement contributions and the educational savings account, as well as a gradual elimination of the US estate tax. The entire tax package was to cost the US Treasury over $1.3 trillion (excluding interest) up to 2010, the expected expiry time of the package. If the system was to continue in the later years, the Treasury could end up spending over $200 billion each year. According to Bartels (2005), The Bush move was supported by the ordinary citizens before the passage of the package. The people s support was not meant to imply the way they were impressed with the package as contributing to inequality, as they were mainly concerned with their own individual welfare. Notably, they wanted a system that could relieve them from paying massive or burdensome amounts of taxes. Though contrary to the perception of the legislation by the people and their personal preferences regarding it, 36% of the tax benefits were to accrue to the richest, who comprised only one percent of the American population. The share was almost equal to the one that was received by those in the bottom who constituted around 80% of the population (Hacker Pierson, p. 33). The policy provided ... Astronomers believe that it is one of the many stars which the earth orbits in our galaxy. The sun is thought to be the midpoint of the solar system based on the assertion that it is the only star in the solar system that is the source of energy for all the other planets. According to geometry facts, the sun acts as the hub of the solar system since all the other components of the solar system go around it on all sides (Haugen, 2002). • 27. Anselm s Ontological Argument On The Existence Of God Anselm s Ontological argument sets out to not only prove God s existence, but to show that God s existence is self evident. Similar to other ontological arguments, it uses a priori knowledge to argue its validity, meaning that the propositions made are derived from internal reasoning instead of sense experience. The argument begins with Anselm defining the term God as that, than which nothing greater can be conceived (pg.26). Although simple, once this term is accepted Anselm believes he has successfully proven the existence of God. This becomes clearer with further analysis. If God is a being that, than which nothing greater can be conceived, it naturally follows that God would possess all properties of greatness. An example of this would be omnipotence. Omnipotence would be such a property because it is greater to have ultimate power than to have limited power, therefore, God being the greatest conceivable being would possess the property of omnipotence. Likewise, it is greater for something to exist in both reality and the mind, than to exist only in the mind. Thus, just as omnipotence was ascribed to God so must the property of existence, for if God did not exist, he would be lacking a great making property, and consequently would be only a great being, but not the greatest conceivable being. Existence being am inherent property of God s essence is why Anselm believes God s existence to be self evident. However, as Anselm states the fool has said in his heart, There ... I of course got the play by play from her, but in hind sight, I was deprived of so many beautiful observations. Our text Theories of Development Concepts and Applications by William Crain outlines human development by many theorists. A few of those are John Bowlby, Mary D.S. Ainsworth, and Erik H. Erikson. I couldn t help but reminisce about the stages of my own children s growth while reading the work of Bowlby, Ainsworth and Erikson. I remember having my young children with me when ever it was possible, but what attachments to them might I have missed while I was busy working or did I miss any at all? Bowlby s work on attachment gives a compelling argument as to the importance of attachment in the first 6 months of a Childs life. Ainsworth s work is focused on the idea of a child using the parent as a base for further exploration of their surroundings. Erikson s work on the other hand considers the role of society and culture in development. In reading these works, the theories appear to be easily stitched together to give an all encompassing view of human development over an entire life time and how our attachment to our parents is critical to that development. The unemployment rate for Mexican Americans (Hispanics) is 6.3 percent and for Asian Americans is 4.0 percent. Problems Occurred: Furthermore, when the millennium bridge opened within the first weekend around 100,000 people had crossed the bridge. Due to such heavy traffic, this lead to something called resonance. Resonance is when the input vibrations frequency coincides with the natural frequency of the structure itself, causing large deflections to develop. The issue caused the bridge to undergo a swaying movement; hence led to its closure. After extensive research and analysis, it was found that the movement was caused by synchronized pedestrian footfall. To prevent this there were two options taken into account the lateral stiffening and the damping; both were used in order to increase the natural frequency of the structure so it did not match the footfall. In addition structures called fluid viscous dampers and tuned mass dampers were installed to control both horizontal and vertical movements.
