The Effects Of Wound Healing On Diabetic Patients
eous wound healing and why some processes may be altered in diabetic patients
The process by which tissue repair takes place is termed wound healing and is comprised of a
continuous sequence of inflammation and repair, in which epithelial, endothelial, inflammatory cells,
platelets and fibroblasts briefly come together outside their normal domains, interact to restore a
semblance of their usual discipline and having done so resume their normal function . ( The Cellular
Biology of Wound Healing 2016)
Wound healing has 3 distinct stages, an inflammatory response, a proliferation phase and a maturation
phase, however wound healing is not a linear process and a patient can move back and forth
throughout the stages.
After the occurrence of a wound the inflammatory process immediately begins and can last up to 3
days ( Wound Healing 2016), the initial injury causes the small vessels around the wound site to be
disturbed resulting in bleeding, the body s first response is a haemodynamic one in that it restricts
these vessels in order to prevent blood loss. There then comes a rapid release of preformed
inflammatory mediators from the cells surrounding the injury, the first thing this causes is the
aggregation of platelets, these platelets adhere to extracellular surface structures which are exposed,
such as collagen and basement membranes, this in turn causes serotonin from platelet stores to be
stimulated. (Kirk, Phillips and Murray 2001)

Women s Soccer Vs Usmnet
Comparing the U.S. women s national team(USWNT) to the U.S. men s national team (USMNT)
seems pretty easy. They play the same game but against different genders. One thing people do not
realize is how large the pay gap is. Even though they are playing the same game, the USWNT players
receives $3650 less than the USMNT earns for a loss. These numbers never balance out, and they
should. Women s soccer is gaining popularity, and the USWNT does a better job at representing US
soccer in terms of tournaments and wins. Although they play the same game for the same team, there
is little equality between the USWNT and the USMNT.

Mount Ruapehu Essay
The Māori definition for Mount Ruapehu is exploding pit of noise, a phrase that is suitable for the
2787 metre tall volcano. Mount Ruapehu is the highest active volcano in New Zealand and the most
dangerous of the Volcanic Plateau region, see figure 1. Often defined by its large Crater Lake, the
classic cone volcano is shaped by a layered landscape with a ring plain at the summits peak. All of
these surface features seen today, are the result and combination of internal and external geological
processes.
Mount Ruapehu is located at the Southern end of the extremely active Taupo Volcanic Zone, close to
the centre of the North Island in New Zealand, see figure 2. As a result of continental drift, volcanic
landforms are developed by collisions and movement of tectonic plates in the Earth s crust.
Earth is made up of five major layers including the inner core, outer core, mantle, upper mantle and
crust. The upper mantle of the Earth is a approximately 1100C, a temperature so hot that the rock
melts to form a molten layer, causing the pieces of the Earth s
crust to move and collide. Convention currents is a progression where hot magma from the upper
mantle rises towards the surface where it then cools and forms a surface skin, see figure 3. The skin is
pushed aside as more magma develops, then forced back under the upper mantle. The skin melts and
the process is repeated.
When plate boundaries meet, they rub against each other either shattering, sliding or buckling

Martin Heidegger s Being And Time Analysis
When we encounter entities in the world we address ourselves to the question of their Being. When a
child points at something and asks what s that? this means that he is aware that there is a Being and
there is a need of a name for it. Moreover, this question points to the fact that there is something which
is already distinguishable from the rest of the things in this world and stands out from them in terms of
its Being.
What is Being? is the essence of Martin Heidegger s Being and Time (Sein und Zeit) book (1927).
Although Being is one of the universal concepts, it is hard to define because it exists above and
beyond all categories that we have in our understanding. For example, we can t apply the term entity
to Being because Being is neither a thing nor a genus, and cannot be defined according to logic. This
is surprising because Being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another concept is being in which is a term usually associated with involvement in a certain context
and can t be thought about in isolation, but in Being in something. However, Being in doesn t suggest
a spatial relationship. Immanuel Kant also spoke of space and time as a condition for the perception of
the world, but Heidegger argues that it isn t possible to discover the world if we take spatiality a priori
condition.
Being in the world is the grounding state of Being or the fundamental base upon which all other states
of Being stand and it is a state of Dasein, and it elaborates the broad principles upon which any actual
Dasein operates. Being in the world is a compound expression and points to the fact that Heidegger s
philosophy regarded Being and the world as two interrelated concepts that must be grasped together;
not separate ones. In this sense there isn t any differences between subject and object and internal and

Summary Of Our Secret By Susan Griffin
Dangerous Secrets Exposed in Griffin s Our Secret
Secrets are apart of every human being. Even children, in their earliest years in this world, learn how
to bury secrets in their hearts. In Susan Griffin s Our Secret, she explores the subconscious, aiming
particularly at the dark secrets that lie in the abyss of the human heart. Griffin claims that the darkest
secrets of each person are similar in the sense that these secrets are perverted and prejudiced thoughts.
These concealed evils are so deeply imbedded that people forget or choose to forget the existence of
these malicious thoughts. However, these are often the thoughts that will encourage a person to take to
violence. Griffin believes that people share similar forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

different men, one being a retired grandfather and the other the commandant of a concentration camp.
However, their secrets show that they are not so different once their secret desires are compared.
Looking at these two men reveals that similar desires can be found in the deepest and the darkest
corners of their hearts, despite the differences among each individual. Everyone is capable of having
secrets locked inside themselves, whether these secrets are obscene or just realities that people do not
wish to face.
People bury different aspects of themselves because they are ashamed of these characteristics. These
buried secrets become what people despise in themselves and others since no one likes to face what he
tries so hard to put behind. Heinrich Himmler, the person responsible for the German concentration
camps, is a perfect example of a man who tries to forget a part of himself. Being stricken by influenza
as a child, Himmler never had the robust physic that he admired in his brother Gebhard (329).
Himmler believes that a man should be strong and that a woman should be weak; the twilight area
between the certainties of gender, homosexuality, horrifies him. (333) The stereo typical homosexual
man is, like Himmler, weak. Himmler finds this to be an unacceptable reality. The fact that a weak

Gender Challenges Within The Business Of Sports
Abstract Gender challenges in sports have been around for centuries. Male and female genders are
treated differently in more than one way. The research I have gathered show the differences in all
aspects of sports related business areas such as, ticket sales, facilities, price of tickets, media coverage,
Sports Illustrated covers, and sports reporters. The purpose of this research is to bring attention the
disparities that women follow in the business of sports. Women are stereotyped, discriminated against,
and harassed in all aspects I have discussed. So my final thoughts on my research are that women will
always be acknowledged for their beauty, body, and sex appeal. A woman s knowledge of sports,

Sales In 1994 the ticket prices for 308 different universities within the NCAA division 1 men s and
women s basketball teams were validated in a study. The study shows that men s prices started out
higher than the price of women s basketball tickets. From 1994 to 1997 both men s and women s
ticket prices increased a quarter. (p. 229) by 1997 men s basketball tickets totaled to be $9.75 and
women s tickets were $4.75. (p. 230) Analysis shows that the increase in men s tickets compared to
women s is shown through the evaluation of each athletic program.(p. 234) For example, the
University of Tennessee women s basketball program is stronger than the men s basketball program
therefore ticket sells for the UT women s basketball is going to be a higher margin than the men. The
University of Kentucky men s basketball program is stronger than the women s so the big blue fan
base would be paying a higher price to watch the wildcats play at Rupp Arena than the lady cats
playing Memorial Coliseum. The discrepancy in gender shows that the ticket prices for men tend to be
higher than women. From the study in the early 90 s to now the ticket pricing has shown more equity
in both genders athletic events. Discrimination in Olympics News Coverage The

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy In Adolescents
Despite availability of community and home based mental health services, there are times when
adolescents may need more intensive care. Residential treatment serves as a source of support for
adolescents who have had frequent hospitalization, ineffective outpatient therapy, or disorders
characterized by defiance, depression, self harm, mood instability, emotional dysregulation, and
interpersonal conflict (Yampolskaya, Mowery, Dollard, 2014). In addition to 24 hour support and
supervision, providing treatment that is evidence based and effective is imperative to support a
successful transition back into the community and decrease the rates of readmission; however, data

therapy, behavioral management, group and family therapy, and pharmacotherapy with no specific
therapy modality. Participants were engaged

Andrew Carnegie And The Gospel Of Wealth
Andrew Carnegie (1835 1919) was a major American industrialist in the late 19th century and after
obtaining substantial wealth from his steel industry, became an advocate for giving back to the less
fortunate. Carnegie s desire to donate to those less fortunate came from past experiences, growing up
as an immigrant and working in a cotton factory young. He knew and understood the hardships that
people faced when not able to acquire the type of wealth he rose to earn. Through his long life this
atypical businessman advocated for many and dedicated the later years of his life to promoting the
general welfare of the world.
After having enough of the steel industry in which Carnegie built from the ground up, with little
training and knowledge in the field, other than his past experiences from working on the railroads and
investing in oil and iron companies, The Gospel of Wealth (1889) was written. At the time of booming
industry, few men had the opportunity to amass such vast fortunes such as Carnegie, and in writing
The Gospel of Wealth (1889), Carnegie wanted to inspire to those with money to donate and give back
to the less fortunate, and life with be better for everyone. He penned that greedy men who let their
money die with them are a disgrace, and that the wealthy have a sort of obligation to promote the
common welfare for the average American. Although Andrew Carnegie did not write any other essay,

The Oversexualizing Of Women In Japanese Anime And Manga
The Oversexualizing of
Women in Japanese Anime and Manga The Japanese are a very creative culture which have produced
several fantastic science fiction movies such as Gojira, which was an allegory for the use of atomic
bombs in war to the animated cartoons, known as anime in America, like Space Battleship Yamato
which portrayed the story of all the nations of the planet Earth joining forces to defeat an alien
invasion. Yamato and other anime like Mach A Go Go had female characters in the shows that were
both allies and sometimes love interest to the main characters, but still were depicted as strong female
role models and were drawn with normal features and body types. However, as time has passed,
women in anime have been more and more sexualized and this has had an effect on how young people
look at Japanese culture and women in particular. In this paper, the effects of this practice will be
observed. With the anime boom of the last few years, the way women have been portrayed in these
animated cartoons has been more and more sexualized. Shows such as Fairy Tale depict the female
leads as scantily clad fighters with rather large breast. Even the youngest girl on the show that is
around the age of 11 to 12 is depicted with larger than normal breast. One of the main reasons for this
is the rather strong patriarchal view of women in Japan that is still there to this day. The article titled A

Confirmation In The 1910 Encyclical Quam Singulari Of...
Confirmation is a sacrament that has become an enigma wrapped in a riddle that ends with an open
ended question for teens all over the world. It has become an increasingly tough Sacrament to define
and explain to those coming to the sacrament of choice. This book was chosen by most of us, not
because of the size but because we have all been called upon to talk to confirmation classes and
talking more intelligently and genuinely is what this generation is striving to receive. Since there is so
much confusion over this sacrament it is imperative we try to live up to the exhortation in paragraph
59 of Sacrosanctum Concilium. It is therefore of the highest importance that the faithful should easily
understand the sacramental signs (SC 59). Timothy Gabrielli s book is meant to give the thinking and
theology behind how this sacrament has been shaped by the twentieth century culture. This book is
meant to stir up conversation and understanding of the need for more priority from the church and its
leaders in the celebration of this sacrament. The main idea running through this book is the 1910
encyclical Quam Singulari of Pius X as the stick of dynamite that blew up the sacrament order. It
appears to me it was the light that illuminated the need for a change in the timing of first communion.
The unforeseen consequence was the upheaval and confusion around Confirmation since it was not
mentioned in the encyclical. The first chapter starts with the quote from the encyclical and

Argumentative Essay On Evolution

Evolution
There always has been a controversy whether evolution really did happen or not. Many evolutionists,
philosophers and biologists have presented sufficient evidence that evolution is true. Yet there is still
debate about this contentious topic. With the facts and findings of fossil records of earlier species,
ideas of initial theorists, and our own genetics and DNA, evolution can be hard to prove wrong.
Evolution is not just a change over time, but that all life on Earth shares a common ancestor. This
process is occurring in our lives right now. What exactly is evolution? Evolution is the process
through which the characteristics of organisms change over successive generations, by means of
genetic variation . (What is evolution) Simply, descent with modification. Charles Darwin was the first
person with the acceptable explanation of evolution. Although his theory gave forth too many
tremendous advances, he did not build this theory on his own. He learned and built off earlier
theorists, like Jean Baptiste Lamarck, who indorsed linear evolution . (evolution) As well as Aristotle,
a Greek philosopher, with his concept of Scala Nature. These early theorists served as a foundation for
Charles Darwin s theory. Although Darwin s theory was important, a greater attribution to evolution
was founded. That is the uncovering of fossils. Fossils are significant to the evolution because they
show how life on Earth was

1.Introduction In 1965, Zadeh.L.A[16] introduced the study of fuzzy sets. Mathematically a fuzzy set
on a set X is a mapping µ into [0, 1] of real numbers; for x in X, µ(x) is called the membership of x
belonging to X. The membership function gives only an approximation for belonging but it does not
give any information of not belonging. To overcome this, Gau.W.L and Buehrer.D.J[7] introduced the
concept of vague sets. A vague set A of a set X is a pair of functions (tA,fA), where tA and fA are
fuzzy sets on X satisfying tA(x)+fA(x)≤1, ∀ x ∈ X. A fuzzy set tA of X

The Use of Whey for Health Purposes
The use of whey for health purposes dates back almost 8000 years. According to Whey History by

Since it was very perishable and had to be consumed within 10 hours of production, people would

1993 is when the first designer whey products entered the market which immediately became

The three main forms of whey protein are concentrates, isolates, and hydrolysates. Whey protein
concentrates is the cheapest and most common form of whey protein. According to Foegeding, Davis,
Doucet, McGuffey (2002), whey protein concentrate contains high levels of protein but has more
lactose and carbohydrates than the other two forms of whey protein. Whey protein Isolates are much
higher in protein percentage and also lower in carbohydrates and lactose. Since isolates are overall
healthier and have a better taste than the concentrates, you will find that the cost is significantly more
than concentrates according to Lee (1992).

Before recruiting the participants and staff for the intervention, hospital permission will need to be
addressed. This includes permission from the hospital as well making sure the privacy rule and patient
protected information regarding HIPAA are strictly followed. In order to gather participants for the
intervention, staff within both hospitals will notify database cancer patients and their loved ones
through calls or face to face for nursing staff. Information and details about the study will also be
included in their hospital stay packet or information chart. If the patient is associated with either
hospital, but is only being cared for at home, we expect that they be notified either by phone call or

Oral Candidiasis
Candidiasis, recurrent herpes labialis and recurrent aphthous stomatitis, hairy tongue, erythema
migrans, and lichen planus are the most type of common superficial oral lesions. Diagnosis of such
lesions requires history taking, performing a complete oral examination and knowledge of clinical
characteristics. Oral candidiasis may present as pseudomembranous candidiasis, glossitis, or perleche

autoimmune disorders, or human immunodeficiency virus infection (Gonsalves et al. 2007). Recurrent
aphtous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral lesions and is a well known oral disease
with unclear etiopathogenesis for which symptomatic therapy is only available. RAS is characterized
by the appearance of initially necrotic ulcers, with well defined limits surrounded by an erythematous
halo. The lesions are located on the oral mucosa, but are infrequent on the gums. The disease
manifests in the form of outbreaks, with a chronic and self limiting course in most cases RAS is the
most frequent chronic disease of the oral cavity, affecting 5 25% of the population. It is more common
in patients between 10 40 years of age, and predominantly affects women and individuals of higher
socioeconomic levels (Belenguer Guallar et al.

Sports Nutritional Market Executive Summary
Sports Nutritional Category – Executive Summary
Over the past 5 years the market has seen an enormous increase in the sports nutritional product
category. These products range from energy drinks and nutritional bars to diet products and nutritional
supplements, and each day new products are being introduced into the market. With nutrition and taste
being two of the most important aspects of the product, creating and maintaining products in this
category is simplified. This has become one of the most exciting new markets not only because it is
the beginning of a new wave of a product category but because the market and consumer base is large
and ready to be tapped into. The market is increasingly becoming more and more energetic, ... Show

A promising characteristic of consumers in this category is that many of them tend to prefer smaller,
trendier, and ‘cooler companies. There are lot of these consumers that would much rather give their
money to an independent/private company than to a large corporation. Companies such as Red Bull
and Odwalla have come to be some of the strongest brands in the sports nutritional category simply by
being ‘renegade brands. Because the parity of products that are in this market, success requires
building a strong brand around the product. There are not too many variables with which to work
(mostly taste and nutrition) which can cause some companies distress. This however is not a flaw but
a benefit of the category because it does allow for a strong brand building that can create strong
consumer loyalty.
After discussing the make up of the consumers of sports nutritional products and the organization of
the marketers and companies in this category, it is time to look to the future of sports nutritional
products as an industry. It seems as if each day more and more people are searching for ways in which
to live healthier and improved lives. This can be seen in the increase of consumption of health related
nutritional products. As new studies reveal important health benefits of certain foods (i.e. soy, ginseng,
calcium) there are increased outlets for integrating these foods into sports nutritional products. Women

Charles Darwin and Human Evolution in Intelligence Essay
The great and famous Charles Darwin is still remembered today after almost 2 centuries had passed.
He was one of the most significant scientists to change how we view this world. Life, as we know it,
was changed by Charles Darwin. But I don t believe that looking at the present will help in any way so
I will take back to the past. It is a fact that throughout history people have always believed in some
sort of god. Some religions were weak and have come and gone, where others have come and stayed.
Many historic wars were fought for a god. So I believe it is safe to say that religion was the most
important thing in life for everyday people. Then comes the renaissance, a time of successful new art,
science and new ideas. Humans came out of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of an analogous structure would be the wings on butterflies, bats, and birds. The human
appendix is another example. It is no longer used in the human body but it is still there. However this
is because we evolved so much that we no longer need to use an appendix to survive. Another
important example would be the development of an eye in both mollusks and vertebrates. This
example of analogous structures is especially useful because one of most common claims made by
religious creationists is that something as complex as an eye couldn t possibly have evolved naturally
they insist that the only possible explanation is a supernatural designer (which is always their god).
However if you see the eye of a hawk and the eye of a human they greatly differ. This shows that the
eye of the hawk has evolved more due to its environment and its hunting characteristics. On the other
hand, the human eye is rarely used to find something a small as a rat from a thousand feet away. The
fact that the eye in different species are analogous structures proves that the eye could evolve
naturally, but also that it in fact evolved several times, independently, and in different ways every
time. The same is true of other analogous structures as well, and this is because certain functions (like
being able to see) are just so useful that it s certain they will evolve eventually. No supernatural
beings, whether gods or not,

Essay on Higher Security at College Football Games
College football is a major part of many peoples lives, especially here in the South. Whether we or
someone we know is an alumni, we plan to go there in the future we think the uniforms are cute, or
whatever reason, we always have one favorite team we cheer for. sometimes fans of a team will wear
a shirt with the team s logo and that is as far as their loyalty goes. Others may attend a few games a
season, but there are also those die hard fans that never miss a game or always tailgating, screaming at
the refs, and have the team s fight song as their ringtone. While all that may seem a little overboard,
there are people believe it or not, who take their team devotion as far as killing to show their devotion

A huge part of going to college football games is tailgating. People always enjoy the fellowship, food,
and for some, alcohol before watching the game. Colleges could raise the cost of the tailgating spots
slightly and make a huge amount of money. Raising the cost of a tailgating spot is yet another way just
a small amount from everyone adds up to make a huge difference for the school.
The football teams already have several companies sponsoring them, but finding more companies to
give money to the football programs would not be difficult at all. Sponsoring the team helps a
company s business and if spectators know their safety from tighter security was paid for by a certain
company, their business would increase even more. Once the idea is proposed to companies, gaining
more sponsors, and therefore more money for security, would be a breeze.
I personally love going to games. I always have so much fun, but I have also seen fans be entirely too
competitive. It is a scary feeling not knowing if something were to happen or even worse, if something
did happen, would there be security to help before myself or someone else gets hurt. I speak not only
for myself, but for all the other football fans like me when I say having tighter security on campus
during a game would lift a heavy burden off of our shoulders and make us feel a whole lot safer.
Paying for the extra security would be no problem, either with an

first changes ever that Barbie goes through? Having existed for as much as fifty eight years, makes me
speculate on all the periods of time that she has marked. How she influenced American culture, and
how the American culture influenced her. All these provoke my curiosity, because the Barbie doll
concept, I believe, goes beyond the popularity of a toy. Barbie can be considered as an artifact. The
changes she must have gone through, from her creation to now, reflect the impact of so many cultural
periods. And that is why I think that this is a topic viable for research, because it gives us a better

Relationships In The Endurance
The Endurance is about the struggle of 28 men who journey through the Antarctic. Shackleton was
able to recruit men to sail on the Endurance to the Antarctic and cross by foot. The men were ready for
adventure and excited to begin the journey with haste, not realizing that they were going to encounter
the struggles of survival. Some of the many ways that they were able to overcome adversity was by
strong relationships, purpose, and cheerfulness.
Having a strong relationship with piers is essential for the times of crisis in times of survival. During
the long polar nights, the crew on board the Belgica suffered from insanity and many lost their lives
due to it. The crew members that were on the Endurance had the reverse effect. They had the desire to
get to know each other even though their characters were contrasting, and they began to draw closer to
each other by talking and sharing experiences. On the Belgica, there was no relationship between the
men, and even one man feared that the men wanted to kill him. The crew members of the Endurance
valued relationship and were able to survive the polar nights. Even in the Bible, God gave Adam a
wife because He knew that it was better for Adam. In Genesis 2:18 it says, And the Lord God said, It
is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him. God created Eve to
be with Adam. God knew that it was better for Adam to have a companion/relationship with Eve. In

The Importance Of Industrialization
The early 19th century was a time of technological innovations that took the United States to a new
level of commerce. During this time, the cotton gin, steamboats, power looms, and even the telegraph
were invented (Swen). As these inventions continued to improve the way of life, the nation continued
to spread northeast and west to discover new land. Where a stagecoach may have taken months to
transport goods from east to west, the railroad could transport the merchandise cross country in just a
few days. Lastly, communication through the telegraph simplified the need for the pony express.
Although these inventions changed how these people lived their life, was it all for the best? Were
sacrifices made as individuals, as a family, or even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now instead of controlling their own future, the nation will become dependent on other people to
succeed in life. Factories did not just hire the man of the family, it hired the whole family. Children
worked in the factories as young as the age of seven which is when Sam Patch first started at Samuel
Slaters White Mill (Johnson p 30). Since the children were small they could get under the machinery
and keep things clear so the machines would continue to run. Some factories primarily hired young
women to operate their facility. As stated in Morals of Manufactures (1837), young women would
leave their families to live in boarding houses owned by the factories (Martineau). This concept was to
protect the women from the evils of the world. They were required to work fourteen hours a day with
thirty minutes for eating twice a day. If that was not bad enough, many slept five people to a room.
Lack of space and privacy prevented them from wondering about life outside the factory. Harriet
Martineau was very concerned with the life these women were being forced to live and the freedoms
they were not allowed to have such as participating in dances. She felt they were no better off than
slaves based on their living and working conditions. If that was not enough, some of the factory
owners tried to extend the work day while governing meal times. This created family conflict because
not all factories were on the same schedule.

Operant Conditioning And Its Effect On Behavior
Operant conditioning refers to the method of learning to occur through rewards and punishment for
behavior (Staddon Cerutti 2002). In the operant condition, an association occurs between the behavior
and the consequences of the behavior. Behaviorist B.F Skinner coined operant conditioning, and that
is why some refer to it as Skinnerian conditioning. Skinner started studying operant conditioning in
the late 1920s when he was a graduate student at Harvard University. As a behaviorist B.F Skinner
believes that it was obligatory to look at the internal thoughts and motivation so as to explain behavior
(Staddon Cerutti 2002). As an alternative, he did suggest that we should look only at the external and
observable causes of human behavior. The characteristics of operant conditioning are that an organism
may emit a particular response instead of just eliciting the response because of the external stimulus.
Skinner did use the term operant in referring to any active behavior that operates on the environment
so as to generate consequences (Doyle Portillo Pastorino 2013).
Skinner s theory explains how we acquire different learned behavior we exhibit daily. The work of
psychologists Edward Thorndike greatly influences Skinner s theory. Thorndike proposed what he
called the law of effect. According to the principle, actions followed by desirable outcomes are likely
to be repeated while those followed by undesirable outcomes are not likely to be repeated. During his
boyhood,

Did the development in European warfare during the Sixteenth Century amount to a Military
Revolution ?
By the Sixteenth century, Luther had successfully challenged the Catholic Church from 1517 and
Copernicus had declared a solar centric universe in 1543. These are both historical events in early
modern Europe. The dramatic changes in Military warfare are also seen as key to European
developments in separating the medieval society from the Modern. The military developments change
that art and organisation of warfare effecting the development of the early modern European state. The

Without Military thinkers such as Gonzalo de Cordoba, Maurice of Orange and Gustavus Adolphus
the military changes would never have taken place. Maurice of Orange had small units of highly
trained soldier in manoeuvres that need many more officers and NCOs to lead them. Gustav Adolf
improved fire discipline and the long practise in arms. Also enforces the importance of military
education and mathematics in European warfare.
Strategy was another major area of revolution in military Europe in the sixteenth century. With the
development of new soldier and armies strategies become more ambitious. Ruler were more confident
about campaigning against many different armies at the same time and took part in decisive battles
without the fear that mercenary soldier would run away. Gustavus Adolphus was one of the first to put
these new strategic concepts to the test according to the historian Roberts8. He returns to a linear
formation for shot armed infantry and an aggressive style of charge for the cavalry.
However strategic development does not confirm the argument that a Military revolution took place in
sixteenth century Europe. There were changes but rather evolutionary and progressive then that of a
revolution. Gustavus Adolphus strategic warfare may not be seen as

The statement Iago is an evil manipulator in my opinion is true. I see Iago as psychologically astute,

Shakespeare s most plausible and intriguing villains.
The main themes in this play are appearance and reality, love, hate and jealousy.
I intend to focus on Iago and see how his character changes and how his plan unfolds in scenes Act 1

The quotes I protest, in the sincerity of love and honest kindness (Iago line 297) and Good night,

The soliloquy at the end of this scene creates atmosphere. It allows us to see into Iago s mind and we

He knows that Desdemona pleading to Othello about reinstating Cassio is going to make this lie more

makes up a large portion of the Earth¡¦s atmosphere. Factors that affect photosynthesis are light
intensity and wave length, carbon dioxide concentration, and temperature.
Plants are autotrophs that mean they are able to synthesize food directly from inorganic compounds,
instead of relying on other organisms. They use carbon dioxide gas and water to produce sugars and
oxygen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The surface of the leaf is uniformly coated with a water resistant waxy cuticle that protects the leaf
from excessive absorption of light and evaporation of water. The transparent, colourless epidermis
layer allows light to pass through to the mesophyll cells where most of the photosynthesis takes place.
To metabolic pathways involved in photosynthesis are light reaction and dark reaction. The first stage
of the photosynthetic system is the light dependent reaction, which converts solar energy into
chemical energy. Light absorbed by chlorophyll or other photosynthetic pigments is used to drive a
transfer of electrons and hydrogen from water to and acceptor called NADP , reducing it to the form
of NADPH by adding a pair of electrons and a single proton. The water or some other donor molecule
is split in the process. The light reaction also generates ADP, a process called photophosphorylation.
ATP is a versatile source of chemical energy used in most biological processes. The light reaction
produces no carbohydrates such as sugars.
In photosynthesis, the dark reactions are chemical reactions that convert carbon dioxide and other
compounds into glucose. These reactions unlike light dependent reactions do not need light to occur.
These reactions take the products of the light dependent reactions and perform further chemical
processes on

Queer Culture Has Long Been K.d. Lang, Ellen Degeneres,...
The faces of Queer Culture has long been K.D. Lang, Ellen Degeneres, and Elton John. While these
icons represent the queer community in that they are gay individuals, they are not wholly
representative of the community because there is no one queer story. However, these icons all have
cisgender, white privilege which results in a great dearth of representation for transgender, non binary,
and people of color in the media. Another issue with queer representation in the media is the
differentiation between gender expression and sexual orientation. Gender expression associated with
masculinity such as short hair, loose clothing, and rough materials such as denim when worn by a
woman is seen as a demarcation of alternative sexualities. However, those assumptions neglect to
recognize the diversity of gender expression. Gender expression among heterosexuals varies greatly
with some men presenting as metrosexual and some women presenting as tomboys. Similarly, this
type of variation exists within the LGBTQ+ community as members can range from femme to butch
to androgynous. Portia de Rossi would be a classic example of a femme lesbian in terms of her long
hair and frequent wearing of dresses. Often times these feminine lesbians, if they are portrayed at all,
are often used to attract male audiences. However, Orange is the New Black challenges these
conventions through the genres of Sophia Burset, Piper Chapman, and Big Boo. Sophia Burset breaks
the cisgender, white

Sierra Stage Performance Analysis
I watched Sierra Stages performance of Christopher Durang s Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike
on Broad Street, Nevada City, March 14, 2015. This was directed by Jeffery Mason in a proscenium
theater configuration. I will discuss how all aspects of the performance except one worked well within
verisimilitude, the creative concept for this production except one and how Each of the parts of the
play contributed to the performance. The conventions of the play were easy to determine and most of
them are familiar conventions. They include:. They were: Representational theater; relatable
characters; two act form; comedy; mythical characters allowed; set in the present; mirrors Chekov s
characters and events from his plays. For the most part, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly Vanya is the protagonist, that almost all of the action is centered around him. He is used by the
playwright to promote the importance to family through his providing of companionship and
emotional support firstly, to his mother and then to his sister. Secondly, Sonia is the confidant of
Vanya who talks, eats, and grew up with him. Sonia, by valuing appearances, contributes to the theme
of vanity of appearances and it is made obvious through her appearance loving is foolish. She also has
lots of arguments with her brother, touching on the Contentious relatives theme of Chekov s plays.
Thirdly, Masha is another confidant of Vanya, helps communicate the appearance theme by doing
what Sonia does in her heart and because she finances her sisters. Fourthly, Masha contributes to the
Contentious relatives of Chekov s plays. By choosing a boyfriend that is immature, she promotes
Chekov s theme of Mismatched lovers Fourthly, Spike serves as a protagonist who causes grief for,
betrays, and tempts Masha to sell the house. He is a mismatched lover and promotes its theme. He also
loves his appearance, so he contributes to the appearance theme. Cassandra is not a kind. Fifthly, Nina
is an antagonist who has an affair with Spike, praises Masha, and has a long discussion with Vanya.
The Idea of the play can be classified classified major categories:

20 s Consumerism
The 20 s were a period of excess, advertisement and high wages fueled this idea of consumerism.
People were convinced that they always needed the newest thing and would go to great lengths to
acquire these new inventions such as the washing machine. The 20 s was composed of excess buying
and new more modern ideas of music and dress and the emergence of the middle class. During the 20
s there were many ease of life appliances invented that used electricity. Electricity allowed the
innovation of the assembly line. Products such as the Model T were mass produced at lower prices
than ever seen before, for only 3 months average wage a worker could buy a new car. This availability
allowed many families outside the upper class to buy cars and other

Globalization Of Genghis Khan
Source One:
The principal substance of the material is about how the present day globalization is homologous to
the conveyance of messages during Genghis Khan s era and how Genghis Khan was a salient
benefactor to the conception of globalization. Some bias for the article is how the writer of the article
stated ...his contributions to the integration of ethnicities and civilizations cannot be ignored, this is
bias due to the fact that the writer is only conveying the message that Genghis Khan is a great ruler
and contributor and is not writing much of anything against him. Another source of bias in the article
is when the writer wrote conspicuously more about how Genghis is a paramount and prominent
contributor to ethics and civilization, as well as how the writer utilized more quotes on about how
accomplished Genghis is, Genghis Khan promoted globalization unlike other rulers before him. I
speculate that the author of the article desired the readers to comprehend a bit about globalization and
how Genghis Khan was a substantial benefactor to it, while attempting to seem impartial as to whether
Khan was a compelling and enticing leader. The audience intended for this article are students and
historians to inform and enlighten them about historical globalization and Genghis Khan. This source
heavily associates to historical globalization because throughout the article, an abundance of times, the
author writes about how Genghis Khan was a significant contributor to

  • 2. The Effects Of Wound Healing On Diabetic Patients eous wound healing and why some processes may be altered in diabetic patients The process by which tissue repair takes place is termed wound healing and is comprised of a continuous sequence of inflammation and repair, in which epithelial, endothelial, inflammatory cells, platelets and fibroblasts briefly come together outside their normal domains, interact to restore a semblance of their usual discipline and having done so resume their normal function . ( The Cellular Biology of Wound Healing 2016) Wound healing has 3 distinct stages, an inflammatory response, a proliferation phase and a maturation phase, however wound healing is not a linear process and a patient can move back and forth throughout the stages. After the occurrence of a wound the inflammatory process immediately begins and can last up to 3 days ( Wound Healing 2016), the initial injury causes the small vessels around the wound site to be disturbed resulting in bleeding, the body s first response is a haemodynamic one in that it restricts these vessels in order to prevent blood loss. Mount Ruapehu is the highest active volcano in New Zealand and the most dangerous of the Volcanic Plateau region, see figure 1. Often defined by its large Crater Lake, the classic cone volcano is shaped by a layered landscape with a ring plain at the summits peak. All of these surface features seen today, are the result and combination of internal and external geological processes. Mount Ruapehu is located at the Southern end of the extremely active Taupo Volcanic Zone, close to the centre of the North Island in New Zealand, see figure 2. As a result of continental drift, volcanic landforms are developed by collisions and movement of tectonic plates in the Earth s crust. Earth is made up of five major layers including the inner core, outer core, mantle, upper mantle and crust. The upper mantle of the Earth is a approximately 1100C, a temperature so hot that the rock melts to form a molten layer, causing the pieces of the Earth s crust to move and collide. Convention currents is a progression where hot magma from the upper mantle rises towards the surface where it then cools and forms a surface skin, see figure 3. The skin is pushed aside as more magma develops, then forced back under the upper mantle. The skin melts and the process is repeated. • 5. Martin Heidegger s Being And Time Analysis When we encounter entities in the world we address ourselves to the question of their Being. When a child points at something and asks what s that? this means that he is aware that there is a Being and there is a need of a name for it. Moreover, this question points to the fact that there is something which is already distinguishable from the rest of the things in this world and stands out from them in terms of its Being. What is Being? is the essence of Martin Heidegger s Being and Time (Sein und Zeit) book (1927). Although Being is one of the universal concepts, it is hard to define because it exists above and beyond all categories that we have in our understanding. For example, we can t apply the term entity to Being because Being is neither a thing nor a genus, and cannot be defined according to logic. This is surprising because Being ... However, as time has passed, women in anime have been more and more sexualized and this has had an effect on how young people look at Japanese culture and women in particular. In this paper, the effects of this practice will be observed. With the anime boom of the last few years, the way women have been portrayed in these animated cartoons has been more and more sexualized. Shows such as Fairy Tale depict the female leads as scantily clad fighters with rather large breast. Even the youngest girl on the show that is around the age of 11 to 12 is depicted with larger than normal breast. Confirmation is a sacrament that has become an enigma wrapped in a riddle that ends with an open ended question for teens all over the world. It has become an increasingly tough Sacrament to define and explain to those coming to the sacrament of choice. This book was chosen by most of us, not because of the size but because we have all been called upon to talk to confirmation classes and talking more intelligently and genuinely is what this generation is striving to receive. Since there is so much confusion over this sacrament it is imperative we try to live up to the exhortation in paragraph 59 of Sacrosanctum Concilium. It is therefore of the highest importance that the faithful should easily understand the sacramental signs (SC 59). Timothy Gabrielli s book is meant to give the thinking and theology behind how this sacrament has been shaped by the twentieth century culture. This book is meant to stir up conversation and understanding of the need for more priority from the church and its leaders in the celebration of this sacrament. The main idea running through this book is the 1910 encyclical Quam Singulari of Pius X as the stick of dynamite that blew up the sacrament order. It appears to me it was the light that illuminated the need for a change in the timing of first communion. The unforeseen consequence was the upheaval and confusion around Confirmation since it was not mentioned in the encyclical. The first chapter starts with the quote from the encyclical and ... Many evolutionists, philosophers and biologists have presented sufficient evidence that evolution is true. Yet there is still debate about this contentious topic. With the facts and findings of fossil records of earlier species, ideas of initial theorists, and our own genetics and DNA, evolution can be hard to prove wrong. Evolution is not just a change over time, but that all life on Earth shares a common ancestor. This process is occurring in our lives right now. What exactly is evolution? Evolution is the process through which the characteristics of organisms change over successive generations, by means of genetic variation . (What is evolution) Simply, descent with modification. Charles Darwin was the first person with the acceptable explanation of evolution. Although his theory gave forth too many tremendous advances, he did not build this theory on his own. He learned and built off earlier theorists, like Jean Baptiste Lamarck, who indorsed linear evolution . (evolution) As well as Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, with his concept of Scala Nature. These early theorists served as a foundation for Charles Darwin s theory. Although Darwin s theory was important, a greater attribution to evolution was founded. That is the uncovering of fossils. Sports Nutritional Market Executive Summary Sports Nutritional Category – Executive Summary Over the past 5 years the market has seen an enormous increase in the sports nutritional product category. These products range from energy drinks and nutritional bars to diet products and nutritional supplements, and each day new products are being introduced into the market. With nutrition and taste being two of the most important aspects of the product, creating and maintaining products in this category is simplified. A promising characteristic of consumers in this category is that many of them tend to prefer smaller, trendier, and ‘cooler companies. There are lot of these consumers that would much rather give their money to an independent/private company than to a large corporation. Companies such as Red Bull and Odwalla have come to be some of the strongest brands in the sports nutritional category simply by being ‘renegade brands. Because the parity of products that are in this market, success requires building a strong brand around the product. There are not too many variables with which to work (mostly taste and nutrition) which can cause some companies distress. This however is not a flaw but a benefit of the category because it does allow for a strong brand building that can create strong consumer loyalty. After discussing the make up of the consumers of sports nutritional products and the organization of the marketers and companies in this category, it is time to look to the future of sports nutritional products as an industry. It seems as if each day more and more people are searching for ways in which to live healthier and improved lives. He was one of the most significant scientists to change how we view this world. Life, as we know it, was changed by Charles Darwin. But I don t believe that looking at the present will help in any way so I will take back to the past. It is a fact that throughout history people have always believed in some sort of god. Some religions were weak and have come and gone, where others have come and stayed. Many historic wars were fought for a god. It is no longer used in the human body but it is still there. However this is because we evolved so much that we no longer need to use an appendix to survive. Another important example would be the development of an eye in both mollusks and vertebrates. This example of analogous structures is especially useful because one of most common claims made by religious creationists is that something as complex as an eye couldn t possibly have evolved naturally they insist that the only possible explanation is a supernatural designer (which is always their god). However if you see the eye of a hawk and the eye of a human they greatly differ. This shows that the eye of the hawk has evolved more due to its environment and its hunting characteristics. On the other hand, the human eye is rarely used to find something a small as a rat from a thousand feet away. The fact that the eye in different species are analogous structures proves that the eye could evolve naturally, but also that it in fact evolved several times, independently, and in different ways every time. The same is true of other analogous structures as well, and this is because certain functions (like being able to see) are just so useful that it s certain they will evolve eventually. The football teams already have several companies sponsoring them, but finding more companies to give money to the football programs would not be difficult at all. Sponsoring the team helps a company s business and if spectators know their safety from tighter security was paid for by a certain company, their business would increase even more. Once the idea is proposed to companies, gaining more sponsors, and therefore more money for security, would be a breeze. I personally love going to games. Children worked in the factories as young as the age of seven which is when Sam Patch first started at Samuel Slaters White Mill (Johnson p 30). Since the children were small they could get under the machinery and keep things clear so the machines would continue to run. Some factories primarily hired young women to operate their facility. As stated in Morals of Manufactures (1837), young women would leave their families to live in boarding houses owned by the factories (Martineau). This concept was to protect the women from the evils of the world. They were required to work fourteen hours a day with thirty minutes for eating twice a day. If that was not bad enough, many slept five people to a room. Lack of space and privacy prevented them from wondering about life outside the factory. Harriet Martineau was very concerned with the life these women were being forced to live and the freedoms they were not allowed to have such as participating in dances. She felt they were no better off than slaves based on their living and working conditions. If that was not enough, some of the factory owners tried to extend the work day while governing meal times. • 32. Operant Conditioning And Its Effect On Behavior Operant conditioning refers to the method of learning to occur through rewards and punishment for behavior (Staddon Cerutti 2002). In the operant condition, an association occurs between the behavior and the consequences of the behavior. Behaviorist B.F Skinner coined operant conditioning, and that is why some refer to it as Skinnerian conditioning. Skinner started studying operant conditioning in the late 1920s when he was a graduate student at Harvard University. As a behaviorist B.F Skinner believes that it was obligatory to look at the internal thoughts and motivation so as to explain behavior (Staddon Cerutti 2002). As an alternative, he did suggest that we should look only at the external and observable causes of human behavior. The characteristics of operant conditioning are that an organism may emit a particular response instead of just eliciting the response because of the external stimulus. Skinner did use the term operant in referring to any active behavior that operates on the environment so as to generate consequences (Doyle Portillo Pastorino 2013). Skinner s theory explains how we acquire different learned behavior we exhibit daily. The work of psychologists Edward Thorndike greatly influences Skinner s theory. Thorndike proposed what he called the law of effect. According to the principle, actions followed by desirable outcomes are likely to be repeated while those followed by undesirable outcomes are not likely to be repeated. During his boyhood, ... While these icons represent the queer community in that they are gay individuals, they are not wholly representative of the community because there is no one queer story. However, these icons all have cisgender, white privilege which results in a great dearth of representation for transgender, non binary, and people of color in the media. Another issue with queer representation in the media is the differentiation between gender expression and sexual orientation. Gender expression associated with masculinity such as short hair, loose clothing, and rough materials such as denim when worn by a woman is seen as a demarcation of alternative sexualities. However, those assumptions neglect to recognize the diversity of gender expression. Gender expression among heterosexuals varies greatly with some men presenting as metrosexual and some women presenting as tomboys.
