Medical Sonography Career Path
The career path that I am choosing to follow is Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This career involves
the use of frequency waves to view tissues; organs and blood flow inside of the body. My main career
goals involve getting into the program, then getting a solid career in this profession. From there I plan
on growing and getting even more education if it is offered, as well as branching out into other fields
of Songraphy.
Sonography is considered fairly new to the medical world. It started back in the 19th century when
people were becoming curious of what the inside of the body looked like. Soon after, the x ray was
invented. Then the French government had a man named Paul Langevine invent an object to detect
enemy submarines during war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phase I is the general education course that consists of nine classes SITE. I think my biggest obstacles
will be in this phase. This phase includes my biology classes, which means there is a lot of
memorization required for different bones, tissues, and organs in the body. These classes can be taken
at my own pace and the grades that I receive in these classes will determine if I get into phase II or
not. Because the program at Greenville Tech only accepts 15 students, it is imperative that I perform
to the best of my abilities in every one of my classes. Greenville Tech is also one of the few accredited
programs in South Carolina, which makes it even more harder to be come a Sonographer. I must also
have to attend a career talk to get into the program, which basically talks about a career in Diagnostic
Medical Sonography and informs students on what to expect going into the program. Phase II of
course, is the actual program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. It is a year long clinical and class
environment where I will learn hands on how to be a Diagnostic Medial Sonographer. Altogether,
becoming a sonographer could take from 2 4 years depending on the amounts of classes taken each
semester, as well as the program itself. Before officially becoming a sonographer in South Carolina, I
will have to take a test. It is called the Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation Examination, as well

Security Analysis of Web-Based Conferencing Platforms vs....
Security Analysis of Web based Conferencing Platforms versus Face to Face Meetings Introduction
Technologies are increasingly being relied on to streamline communication, collaboration and also
drastically reduce costs of operations. As travel costs have continued to escalate, companies are
increasingly relying on digital and Web based forms of communication. One of the most rapidly
growing continues to be the use of Web conferencing or teleconferencing. It is estimated that nearly
15 million small and medium businesses in the U.S. rely on Web conferencing on a daily basis to
complete projects and build unified teams (Baez, 2012). There are nearly 25 million users of Web
Conferencing solutions daily throughout the world s top 100 corporations, as these worldwide
enterprises look to unify the intelligence and knowledge of their employees across departments,
divisions and programs groups (Suduc, Bîzoi, Filip, 2009). Cisco has even taken Web Conferencing a
step further and creating a telepresence platform that allows individuals to communicate literally as if
they were in person, speaking to team rooms (Baez, 2012). While there have been many studies done
on the relative merits of these systems, the most telling are the Return on Investment (ROI) analyses
completed, which consistently show Web conferencing systems generate positive Return on
Investment in two years or less in the majority of instances (Suduc, Bîzoi, Filip, 2009). With the
economic factors so in favor of

Business Impact Analysis Paper
Databases Implement High Availability for Mission Critical Mission critical databases support
services that have an immediate, direct, and significant impact on revenue, goodwill, health and safety,
and regulatory compliance. They require more attention than other systems. I will be discussing the
following topics in this paper 1. Understand why implementing high availability for mission critical
databases is so important to IT s success. 2. Learn why true availability relies on people, process, and
technology. 3. Understand database methodology and approach to implementing high availability.
Current Situation: For most systems, efficient backup/recovery processes and technology will meet
recovery time (RTO) and recovery point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, an Info Tech survey found that a BIA has a significant impact on setting appropriate
recovery time objectives (RTOs) and appropriate spending. Mission critical system uptime depends on
people, process, and technology. If people and processes are ignored, the system becomes significantly
more vulnerable to human error the number one cause of downtime. My Research Recommendation:
Integrate these principles when planning for high availability Step 1 Take a proactive approach to high
availability. Attention to and investment in high availability tends to happen reactively after system
failures. When you proactively address high availability, you ll give yourself time to holistically
approach HA and address people, process, and technology gaps. Step 2 It is the responsibility of IT to
ensure the business has been informed about the options and costs of higher availability. Business
users can t assess time impact of downtime in an information vacuum. IT team SMEs often acutely
aware of the impact of system downtime should take a first cut to assess the impact of downtime,
achievable recovery times, and options to improve availability Step 3 It is the responsibility of the
business to decide what projects to fund. Business stakeholders must decide whether to fund a project,
not the IT team. It is up to the business to make an informed decision about the availability

Taking a Look at Islam and Judaims
Introduction Apart from Christianity, Islam and Judaism are two of the most influential religions in the
world, particularly in the Middle East. Although Judaism is not as large as Islam, it has impacted on
the world in a profound manner. While it s quite evident that both Islam and Judaism appear to be
having conflicting differences in terms of their doctrines, they are both know as Abrahamic religions
because they share a common origin in the Middle East through Abraham in the Hebrew Bible.
Nevertheless, Judaism is often considered to be the oldest of all the Abrahamic religions. Most
ethnographers have been more interested in understanding on how the convictions between the two
religions compare, based on their religious believes about God, afterlife, the universe and people. This
can be attributed to the fact that the conflict between Islam and Judaism has been viewed as a result of
irreconcilable clash of religious doctrines. But, I do not believe that this is really the case. This essay
will focus on drawing a comparison between Judaism and Islam so as to establish the similarities and
differences that exist between them. The comparison will then be used to support my opinion based on
the ides that these religions can live together peacefully and that they are not destined for perpetual
conflict.
Similarities
There are several doctrines and historical events that can be linked to the two religions. Both Islam
and Judaism believe in the existence of one creator

An Project On Water Resources
Objective: This project focuses on water resources in the region of ancient Eastern Arabia at the site of
As Safah, Oman. This site has archaeological evidence of metallurgical activities in the Iron Age (c.
900 600 BCE), like kilns, furnaces and metal objects, still in very good condition. However, the site is
very far away from any natural water sources in the present day. Excavators did find sediment and
fluvial deposits suggesting that occasionally in the past the site had an inflow of water (Genchi,
Giardino, and Castelluccia 8). The objective of this project was to use satellite imagery to understand
why this site was chosen for intensive metal production despite it distance from water, necessary for
metal production. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later that year and throughout 2013, excavators worked on the site, conducting surveys and digging
test trenches. Excavators found kilns and furnaces, layers of floor, and metal objects, like ax heads,
swords, daggers, and sledgehammer heads in very good condition. Excavators believe it is a very well
preserved site because of the formation and rapid movement of the desert sands which covered up the
site relatively quickly after it was abandoned (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 3 4). Sites with
similar metal deposits dating to approximately the same time have been found in the region, at Ibri, for
example, 50 km west of As Safah (Yule 39 40). The site itself has been delineated into As Safah 1 and
2 based upon the deposit of material found on either side of a large dune belt (Genchi, Giardino, and
Castelluccia 3). As Safah 1 measures approximately 80,000 m2 and As Safah 2 measures
approximately 17 hectares (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 11). The surrounding area is made up
of a wadi and dune deposits and the annual precipitation is less than 50 mm. As a result, large amounts
of rainfall will cause flash floods in this and surrounding low areas (Genchi, Giardino, and
Castelluccia 5 6). The site does not appear to be close to a fruitful water source. The entire region is
hyperarid and not conducive to farming. The rain comes erratically by the year, some years being
better than others (Potts 165). The location does offers other advantages which

Nuclear Sclerosis Case Study
A 67 year old female Caucasian patient comes in to the clinic complaining of decreased vision,
affecting the left eye more than the right. She is being treated for hypertension, cholesterol, and
diabetes. Her distance vision is 20/25 OD and 20/40 OS and her near vision is 20/25 OD and 20/50
OS. Her prescription was found to be 11.00 1.00X180 OD and 13.50 1.50X015 OS, which is classified
as high myopia. A 1+ nuclear sclerosis was found in the right eye. A 2+ nuclear sclerosis and a
paracentral subcapsular cataract were found in the left eye. Due to these findings, it was determined
that glasses could not fully fix the patients vision. This lead to a referral to a retinal specialist and a
cataract surgeon. No other abnormalities were noted on the initial examination. The patient then came
back when the cataract surgery was performed on the left eye and the visual acuity improved to 20/25
at distance and 20/25 at near OS. All things concerning the surgery seemed normal for a day after the
IOL placement. Six months later, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main way light is obstructed on its way to the retinal is by a cataract in the lens, which is the case
in this patient. These can form two major ways: ultraviolet light damage and aging. Ultraviolet light
damage leads to an abundance of free radicals. These free radicals act on the crystalline proteins and
cause them to clump together, creating a cataract.[2] Another way cataracts are formed is by the
natural process of aging. Concentrations of alpha crystallins fall off with age with leads the other
subtypes to aggregate and form scleroses (cataracts).[3] This is what is leading to the glare that the
patient sees at night. The cataract is scattering the light entering her eye and leading to blur on the
retina. Both of these could have contributed to the cataracts in this patient due to her being over 65
and due to her age naturally being exposed to more

Alex Rodriguez Broke Into Spring Camp With The Seattle...
In 1994, an 18 year old kid from Miami named Alex Rodriguez broke into spring camp with the
Seattle Mariners in an attempt to make the team. After almost immediately stepping into a Major
League baseball field he became a household name. Within two years, he was an All Star. Within five,
a regular 40 homer player. By the turn of the century, many were already putting him into the Hall of
Fame discussion.
On August 12, 2016, Rodriguez played what will be his final game as a New York Yankee after an
incredible 12 years in New York. Considering the 41 year old s lack of playing time and declining
production after a resurgent effort in 2015, this may very well be the end of the A Rod era entirely.
And for A Rod, he was prepared to leave the game he fell in love with as a child.
I do want to be remembered as someone who was madly in love with the game of baseball, someone
who loves it at every level, Rodriguez said. Someone who loves to learn it, play it, teach it, coach it.
And also, I m going to be hopefully remembered as someone who tripped and fell a lot, but someone
that kept getting up.
Rodriguez has led a very controversial 22 year baseball career. His lowest moment being when he was
infamously suspended for the entire 2014 season following the Biogenesis investigation. The longest
suspension ever served in Major League Baseball history.
But his story did not end there.

Valentine s Day Lou Ann Character Analysis
Taylor also experiences injustice in the society she has been living, How can I just be upset about
Turtle, about a grown man hurting a baby, when the whole day of the world is to pick on people that
can t fight back (229). As Taylor learns more about the injustices of the world and the mothering, she
becomes more disillusioned with the world and less sure of herself. This causes Taylor to rethink the
world in different view which helps her see the world broaden. The dark side of the world can happen
anywhere and to anybody, not only with the people she knows in Pittman. This also challenges Taylor
about the motherhood. At first when Taylor accepts to keep Turtle, she believes she is able to raise
Turtle from harm. However, after the incident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taylor learns some good things about Lou Ann, one of them is the relationship. Lou Ann shows Taylor
that the relationship is good which she means both friendship and community relationship. Besides
Mattie, Taylor also needs helps from Lou Ann and sometimes depends on her. In chapter six Valentine
s Day, Taylor expresses the feeling that she dislikes the idea Lou Ann and her act like a married
couple. Lou Ann takes care of the kids and cooks. Conversely, Taylor goes to work to support the
family (84 85). Kingsolver might suggest that growing close to Lou Ann makes Taylor scared. In other
words, Taylor s real problem is a fear of attachment. However, Lou Ann proves to Taylor that
relationship is helpful and good. Together, the two friends make a safe and happy home for themselves
and their children. They both can share the feelings, talk, laugh and get drunk together. In short, their
conversations actually make them feel better and understand each other more. Moreover, the two
ladies support and help each other through good and bad times such as taking turn to cook and take
care of the children. Also, Taylor helps Lou Ann become more independently, gain more confident and
self reliance, begin to express opinions aloud, speak up and feel less inclined to bow to the opinions of
others. In return, Lou Ann helps and protects Taylor when she faces difficult situations. In chapter
twelve Into The terrible Night, after the incident happens to Turtle, Lou Ann takes one week off just to
stay home to take care of Turtle, putting her promotion at risk (169) while Taylor is still in her
depression state. Humorously, Lou Ann also spies on the neighborhood, hoping can find the bad guy
who attacks Turtle at the park. Furthermore, in chapter thirteen Night Blooming Cereus, when Taylor
faces hardship and is about to give up on keeping Turtle, Lou Ann tries to persuade Taylor to find

Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama
Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval drama were both
very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance. However, from ancient Greece to the
renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of methodology; their practitioners use a creative process
based off of different mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres has had
an evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects such as
religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the distinct theatrical natures
of Greek theatre and medieval drama will be made apparent. Though both genres of theatre are closely
tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval drama have different religious motivations that impact the
ways in which the theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was used to entertain or please the
Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important of the four Athenian festivals:
the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to
compete in the festival and submit three tragedies and one satyr play to be performed in front of
approximately 15,000 spectators. In classical Greece, theatre was the center of citizenship and society;
religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only realized by performances, but strongly
encouraged by the state. For example, if a citizen could not afford to attend the

How Welfare Has Changed From The Colonial Period
It is important to discuss the history of the emergence of this social problem. I will discuss the essence
of poverty as a social problem and how that has affected how welfare is distributed among single
mothers. Some factors that contributed to this social problem are the economy and he increasing
amount of people who lived in poverty. The government felt that it was necessary to be proactive
about the growing issue of poverty. The government was also taking a look at how money was being
spent and how that contributed to the nation s debt. As a result some policies were put into place to
address those issues. Many programs were on a trial and error period to determine the success rate of
that program. If the social program had expenses that seemed to add to the deficit then those programs
were either revamped or eliminated. It is important to examine how Welfare has changed from the
Colonial period to present.
A social problem is an undesirable condition that affects individuals or groups of people. Single
mothers is the population that I will be discussing in this paper. Welfare reform and its impact on
single mothers well being is the social problem that I ve chosen to analyze. Single mothers that are
welfare recipients often go through different experiences that affect their well being. However, the
Welfare reform changes have been a factor that has contributed to their well being positively and
negatively. The goal of the reform is to cut down on social spending

Countries Like France And Italy
countries like France and Italy (xxx, xxx). But this resulted from the erasure of the identity of a
significant sector of the peoples residing within their borders (xxx, xxx). Moreover, enhanced self
esteem and an improving lifestyle accruing from industrialization made assimilation less painful in
these earlier cases of nation building (Stephen Castles 1998). The incongruity between state and
nation is therefore compelling scholars to draw a distinction between the two. The belief that all states
are, or must be, nations has almost inevitably generated an urge to make states out of all nations (Lord
Acton, xxx). The people category is also embracing heterogeneity. From people perspective, two
parallel trends have emerged: while the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the traditional functions of state that needs to end is the project that envisions to turn all the
inhabitants of the state into one culturally and linguistically homogeneous nation. Denationalization of
state is emerging as alternative to resolve the conflicts that born out of the antipathetic nationalism.
The state should not be associated with any particular group, but should be the neutral common
property of all its citizens (1992: 205). In simple term, since the state itself is changing in form and
functions, so must the nationalist doctrine and strategy (Michael Keating 1998). Several points of
departure also appear necessary when rearticulating nationalist doctrine and strategy to render them
more resonant with contemporary reality. The formulation of identity should base on respect for
democracy and human rights and the willingness to rigorously uphold them (xxx, xxx). Creating a fair
balance between cultural diversity and framing a common political community is only possible
through just recognition of each other s identities. Just recognition entails acknowledging the inherent
worth of those whose identity is defined in different terms from ours. Reflecting the symbols and
languages of all concerned collectivities in their constitutional foundation is the basics of just
recognition (O Leary 1999). Only this willingness of communities to reach across cultural divides
through mutual recognition can disarm extremist elements

Engineering And Its Impact On The United States
Engineering was newly introduced to the United States in the late 1700s. The jobs were minimal and
fully educated men were few and far between. America had a shaky start in the engineering field, but
the profession quickly picked up speed. From 2009 to 2013, engineering degrees grew twice as fast as
other disciplines (Bidwell, The number of STEM degrees earned in the last 5 years grew exceptionally
). Everything from the most basic principles of engineering and the minutiae of an engineer s daily
routine, to complexities such as payment and respect for the profession have changed drastically since
the 1800s due to more people becoming open to the ideas of innovation and diversity in such an
integral field. Engineers are the life blood of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until the mid 1900s that only educated and trained people could call themselves engineers.
To be considered a professional engineer, a license is needed (Mraz, Changes in the Engineering
Profession Over 80 Years ). Another evolution of engineering that occurred, was companies switching
to a system called concurrent engineering. This is essentially just making sure that all of the
employees for a certain job understand each step of the design process, giving them the ability to share
opinions on each step along the way. Prior to this development, each engineer in a company had
knowledge only on their specialty and could not offer input on any other process. This was largely
implemented in the 1980s. When this was used, companies had 100% improvement in quality
(Salustri, an Extremely Abbreviated History of Engineering Design ). Engineering used to be a small,
seemingly insignificant job. There were not many places and ways to successfully apply engineering,
and even in the times where actual engineering was done, the engineer may not have been properly
credited. There were people throughout history that accomplished things that would today be
categorized as engineering, but at the time, all the fields of engineering had not yet been discovered. A
good example of this is Dr. William Gorgas, who believed that mosquitoes were responsible for
infecting thousands of workers with malaria during the building of the

Ashurbanipal Evil
The ancient Assyrian ruler, Ashurbanipal also known as the Assurbanipal, was the last of the Great
Kings of the Assyria Empire, and reigned between 668 627 BCE. He was the son of the previous ruler
of the Neo Assyrian Empire, King Esarhaddon, and was named the god Ashur is creator of an heir . In
his lifetime the man achieved various things, such as, the greatest territorial expansion of the Assyrian
Empire, which included the expansion and invasion of Persia, Syrua, Egypt, and Babylonia Although,
Egypt was lost as a result of revolt. He was marked as a popular king, who ruled over his natural born
citizens true and just, but outside of his empire and in the countries that the man invaded,
Ashurbanipal was seen as a pernicous villain. An example of his cruelty towards those that lost in

Term Life Insurance
There are so many insurance words floating around these days. One in particular is term life
insurance. What is it exactly is it?
What is term life insurance?
According to www.dictionary.com, term life insurance is described as, Life insurance for which
premiums are paid over a limited time and that covers a specific term, the face value payable only if
death occurs within that term.
So what does that mean. Basically it means, the person buying the insurance will pay a fee (usually a
monthly fee), for a specific amount of coverage (dollar amount), that is only valid for an increment of
years, such 10 years, 20 years, etc. The amount paid to the beneficiaries will only occur if the person
buying the insurance becomes deceased during the term. At the end of the term, the person will need
to consider renewing the policy or even buying another policy.
Why is life insurance needed?
Life insurance can be needed and used for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When deciding which policy to buy, there are some things to consider. Age can determine the
premiums charged. Many times as the age goes up, so does the premium. The amount of years in the
term can also effect the cost of premiums.
The other thing that should be considered, is how much of a policy is needed. Nationwide s 5 Minute
Guide to Term Life Insurance, shows a few ways to determine the amount. One option is their Rule of
Thumb, stating the amount should be 5 7 times the amount of the gross income. Another option is the
Expense Calculation. The expenses are calculated with funeral and burial costs, emergency funds,
debt, mortgage, college funds, and income replacement. The costs get added together to determine the
amount.
There are several companies that offer term life insurance. Many of the insurance companies where
home and vehicle insurance sell the policies. Shopping around and researching the different policies
and contracts will help decide which policy is best for the

Why Visiting Art Museums
When visiting art museums there is a sense of community through the arts and through its people.
There are groups of people who visit daily, those who work hard daily, docents (people who donate
money to the museum but none of them are as colorful as the interns. In the Milwaukee Art Museum,
there s a program called the Satellite Program to gather teenagers for an internship to spread the word
of Art. By bringing together different school districts and people you get a weird bunch of art and not
so art kids. However they are all unique and talented in their own way. I ll be telling you of the
Milwaukee Art Museum interns that are a bit too dedicated, the ones who slack off, and the one who
just started an internship program. Yes, they have their flaws but we are still a big happy bunch of
misfit art kids.
There s always one teen that has way too much experience in the art realm. It s scary how one teen can
know and do so much, they are usually the prodigy of a famous artist or they are just born with a
paintbrush in their hand. In the intern program there was one girl who had already did like one
hundred internships since she was five years old. I was taken aback; to be gifted with so much art
knowledge was amazing. The only problem though is when you re trying to critique an artwork and
you have to take notes, your notes are simple and direct. Yet her notes were extravagant, filled with
doodles, body art, side notes from the 1400 s and blessed by the Pope. This intern is

The Formation Of Acc And Its Conversion Into Ethylene
The evolution of ACC also brings about the production of 5¢ methylthioadenosine nine. Increase in
the rate of respiration of the fruit gives ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) need for the methionine cycle
and can lead to induced ethylene production without high levels of intracellular methionine. SAM is a
crucial methyl giver and relates to numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. Thus, the two steps
involved in the synthesis of ethylene is the formation of ACC and its conversion into ethylene. The
genes encoding ACS and ACO have therefore been studied more deeply than other enzymes in the
pathway, although there is proof that a few other genes concerned with methionine synthesis and
methionine salvage pathway are differentially demonstrated throughout ripening and in response to
ethylene (Alba and others 2005; Zegzouti and others 1999). ACS and ACO are encoded by multigene
families in higher plants, with tomato having at most nine ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS1B, and LEACS2
8) and five ACO (LEACO1 5) genes (Barry and others 1996; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Oetiker and
others 1997; Van der Hoeven and others 2002; Zarembinski and Theologis 1994). Expression survey
has disclosed that at least four ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS2, LEACS4, LEACS6) and three ACO
(LEACO1, LEACO3, LEACO4) genes are differentially shown in tomato fruit (Barry and others
1996, 2000; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Rottmann and others 1991). LEACO1, LEACO3,
andLEACO4 are shown at low levels in green fruits that are in the first

Differences Of Squid And Octopus
What is these creatures? Squid and Octopus are categories in sub marine animal. Squid and Octopus

they use as a smoke screen or decoy. (Wood,2017) This species is common find in ocean or seas

Octopuses and squids can swim in any direction and can alter their course quickly. Squids use fins
located on their heads to propel themselves when swimming at low speeds. These fins steer and
stabilize the squids when moving slowly, and wrap around the body when they move quickly, by way
of jet propulsion. Most octopuses do not have fins as adults. Some deep water octopuses are
exceptions. (Octopuses Squids,n.d)
How do octopuses and squids reproduce? The male octopus uses a specialized arm called a
hectocotylus to transfer sperm to the mantle cavity of a receptive female. The female lays strings of
fertilized eggs on the roof of her den. She guards, cleans and aerates the eggs with water expelled
from her siphon until hatching. This can be anywhere from 30 days to a year, depending on the
species. The female may build a wall of rocks to seal off the den and will remain in the den until just
before she dies, after the eggs have hatched. Squids often mate in large groups, and attach their egg
capsules to the ocean floor or to seaweed. Most adult octopuses and squid die after reproducing. Their
bodies are recycled in the food web, nourishing other animals, and ultimately providing food for their
young when they hatch. (Octopuses

Gattaca Self Determination Essay
The role of self determination is quite present throughout multiple scenes within the movie involving
Vincent and his brother competing in their own swimming contest dubbed Chicken in which they
attempt to out swim the other. Initially, Anton outswims brother in almost every race because of his
innate physical advantages not due to his determination as throughout Anton s life he never had to try
due to him being a valid. Though Vincent eventually succeeds and beats his brother in chicken as
through sheer determination as unlike Anton, Vincent was constantly told that he was naturally
inferior. Every time he swam against Anton, he put in all his effort. This is the first demonstration of
the role of self determination within the film as despite losing almost every time Vincent does not lose
hope but instead becomes more determined than before. This proves to Vincent that if he is capable of
beating his valid brother, he is able to fulfil his dream of becoming an astronaut at Gattaca. The role of
self determination is also apparent towards the end of the movie in which the two brothers play
chicken one last time in which Vincent beats his brother once more. Anton yells, Vincent! How are
you doing this Vincent? How have you done any of this? We have to go back. To which Vincent later
replies, You wanna know how I did it? This is how I did it Anton. I never saved anything for the swim
back. This shows that Vincent is 100% dedicated to the task that he is willing to

A New Form Of Leadership
Paul Ryan, current Speaker of the House, holds an antithetic leadership style to solve issues in the
future of congress. However, it is not a new form of leadership we have seen in politics. Paul Ryan is a
Republican and the Republicans do currently have power in the Senate and House of Representatives.
Clearly though, the Republican Party is divided and struggles to solve current issues in congress.
Currently this is due to collective action issues such as, the need for information, time, and
coordination currently in Republican Party. What Paul Ryan has done to solve these issues so far is,
unify republicans, and at the same time solve collective action issues and other problems thus far by
giving congressional committees the power to achieve these issues. The history of Congressional
power from 1890 to present day has varied from strong individuals, to strong committees. From 1890
to about 1910 the speaker would heavily influence the House of Representatives. Speakers had the
power to appoint the committees to chairs, and had control of legislative agenda s. But in 1910, a
revolt had happened against Speaker Joe Cannon. Power shifted to the committees whose leaders were
based on seniority. From the 1920 s to the 1970 s party influence was very weak and this was known
as the era of committee government. Beginning in the 1970 s preferences of the party and its members
became more similar. They did not have to be as concerned with the leader s preferences, because it

The Changing Place of Slaves and Slavery in the American Nation
In the beginning as early as 1502 the European slave traders shipped 11 to 16 million slaves to
America. The English colonists had indentured servants instead of slaves. Indentured servants were
servants that had a contract and only worked for a certain period of time. African American slaves
were used when the English men were running out of indentured servants. The first African American
slave was in 1619. They also had Irish, Scottish, English and German indentured servants. Over half

And it shows no clear connection between social identity and votes for the Republicans or Democrats

By 1662, the partus sequitur ventrem principle was adopted by the southern colonies. It openly
discriminated the slaves by confining them into a certain category of population. Their children were
supposed to inherit the status of their mothers regardless of whom the father was. In other words, they
would still be non citizens. This was prompted by the enactment of several legislations like the 1712
Slave Codes which was later adopted by nearly all the colonial states. Together with many
amendments and court rulings, this migrant group was stripped of American citizenship alongside
other privileges exclusively reserved for the whites. It clearly stipulated that no slave shall enjoy
freedom of movement, association, sell or buy a property, be taught how to read and write, employed,
demand for payment, plant corns, domesticate pets or possess any goods or weapons. If so, and
caught, they would be punished by whipping, nose slitting, branding, chopping off the ear, castration
or killing (Stockwell, 2012).
The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order issued to the agencies of the United States by
President Lincoln during the civil war that proclaimed that all slaves in the Confederate territories be
forever free. The Emancipation Proclamation was limited in many ways. It applied only to states that

A Research Project On The Data Collection Process
Manatowa Research Project Report
Identify and describe key lessons learned in your data collection process
The first potential participant I spoke with on the phone asked me a question, can any staff member
volunteer to participate or do they have to be a licensed social worker ? A very valid question and
something I had not anticipated. I did not know how to answer her at first. That fact was not part of
my research design. As explained by the University of Oxford Personnel Service UAS (2015) among
the standards in research is the practice code of being honest in proposing, conducting and reporting
research. Academic research often has class timeline parameters which puts a strain on the academic
researcher. The integrity of the researcher in academic research class may be tested by shortcomings
as the result of faults in the design phase. The academic research must choose to do the right thing and
act in an ethical manner when situations arise such as in the recruitment of participants and
modifications during the data collection phase.
Research design can eliminate potential pitfalls and challenges during research data collection and
interpretation of that data. Spending more time and effort in the design phase will help to eliminate
and/or reduce such ethical situations. Crotty (1998) suggested:
1. What epistemology, theory of knowledge, embedded in the theoretical perspective, informs the
research (e.g., objectivism, subjectivism, etc.)?
2. What

China s Stature As A Political As Well As Economic...
Synopsis:
China s stature as a political as well as economic hegemon continues to grow well into the second
decade of the 21st century. This has led many to believe that the Chinese Renminbi (which is
denominated in the Yuan, and hence, referred hereafter as such) may soon eclipse the United States
Dollar (USD) as the World Reserve Currency (WRC).
Such claims of a currency of a large economy eclipsing the USD as the WRC have been rife in the
past. In its heyday, Japan s Yen was thought to have the capacity to overthrow the USD s dominating
position in the 1970 s. After that, the German Mark was widely expected to do the same in the 1980 s.
And later, the Euro too was theorized to be the next WRC.
The major aim of this paper is to give economic and political arguments to show that the Yuan will
similarly not succeed to dethrone USD as the world s most dominant currency.
This essay is divided into several sections. The first section deals with defining what exactly the
author means by World Reserve Currency and Dominant Currency because without underlying this,
the issue becomes vague and ambiguous. The second section seeks to answer the factors affecting
currency compositions of reserves across the world and will briefly argue why the USD (and not the
Yuan or any other currency) continues to fit the bill as the perfect reserve currency. It is followed by
section three which asks why the tag of World Reserve Currency is so important and also answers why

The Literary Style Of Cavendish s The Blazing World
In the epilogue of The Blazing World, Cavendish puts forth that anyone who does not wish to be a
subject of her world can instead create their own (Cavendish 163), but how does one do this? In the
story, the Empress asserts that in order to create a world one must frame it, strengthen it, and beautify
it (126). The literary world that she creates in The Blazing World itself follows this system as her use
of structured lists, her descriptions of the strength of her society and her use of poetic techniques in
prose each support these ideas. This principal of world creation can be seen not only throughout The
Blazing World, but through her poetry as well. In her poem Of Many Worlds in This World, Cavendish
is able to convey these three rules of world building through both form and content while creating a
whole system of worlds for the reader to imagine. The passage of The Blazing World that this essay
will focus on is a passage in which the Duchess convinces the Empress to make a world in her mind
which the Empress decides not to dissolve. The passage ends with the Empress desiring to see the
Duchess s world and it s government and society. This passage not only creates a world within the
text, a world filled with creatures, laws, arts and sciences (126), but adds to the greater world of the
story that Cavendish creates. In this passage one can see a bit of how Cavendish creates her world
through both the content of the passage and form. This passage exhibits the framing

Analysis Of The Book Comic Party Poster Essay

comic party poster
Summary: Just when high school nears the close, a Japanese student named Kazuki and his girlfriend,
is pulled by his scheming best friend Taishi into the world of fan comics. As Kazuki s obsession with
finishing his comic in time for the next convention threatens his schoolwork and his relationships, he
must decide how he will use his time or risk losing Mizuki.
STORY 4.1
Tragically, it has been a long time since I watched the show, and clearly my methods changed over the
years. From the fragments I do remember comes a great, clean story of one named Kazuki and his
introduction into Manga (specifically doujinshi) that takes us on a journey through an industry.
When most people think of Manga in America, they might compare it to Marvel Comics, which is
somewhat misleading. Manga is not reserved for super heroes nor to trite concepts that may be
disgusting in America (see The Mask) but yet never quite puts us inside. This is not to say Comic
Party attempts this, rather it expresses the deeply woven nature of the Manga universe that should give
any foreigner a pause before stereotyping the industry negatively.
This is perhaps the biggest appeal and weakness to Comic Party, in that as an educational comedy it
seeks to balance self deprecating jokes with giving its audience a better comprehension of the work
involved, all while not coming off as boring or uninspired.
Whether it succeeds is largely up to you, however

The Wright Brothers And Their Impact On The Aviation Industry
The Wright brothers had discovered something new, flying. From what flying is today to what is was
in 1903 if they would not of discovered what they had who knows if we would have planes today. In
1903 steam engines were about the only way around. Cars were not quite around yet so the thought of
flying was hardly a question. As two of the most famous names in the aviation industry the Wright
brothers changed the way we think of traveling and getting around not just our country, but the world.
Wilbur Wright was born on April 16, 1867, near Millville, Indiana, the middle child in a family of five
children. His father, Milton Wright, was a bishop in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. His
mother was Susan Catherine Koerner Wright.

The Carmina Burana By Keting Yang
The Carmina Burana
Keting Yang
The composer
Orff Carl, born July 10, 1895 at Munich Germany and died March 29 1982. He is known for his
operas and his contribution and innovation to children s music education. After studying at the Munich
Academy of Music under Heinrich Kaminski, he conducted in Munich, Mannheim and Darmstadt.
Including his best known secular oratorio Carmina Burana, his trilogy is completed with Catulli
Carmina and Trionfo di Afrodite. Before wirting the Carmina Burana, he edited 17th century operas
and published a manual, named Schulwerk to describe his method of conducting in 1930.
Social context
When Orff first read the Carmina Burana in 1935, he was deeply shocked. He used his strong and
enthusiasm melody to give this magical poem a completely new and eternal live.
The Nazi Party dominated Germany from 1933 to 1945, through totalitarian means, which means
during Orff Carl s life time, there are two main epochs politically under the Nazi Party and not.
Even though Orff may despise the Nazis for their lack of aesthetic sensibility, he kept that mind to
himself. The Carmina Burana achieved a huge success and Hitler loves this piece particularly, it was
exploited in propaganda because the innate power generated from the pounding rhythms. After the
Nazi s domination was crashed, the new government took a long time to accept it, since it was once
considered a symbol of Nazi.

Lord Of The Flies
Day One We are stranded on an island, or at least I am pretty sure it is an island. Ralph was the first
person I found after awakening on the beach. We found a conch shell and used it to summon all the
other boys from the plane. The boys and I voted for Ralph to be our chief. We chose Jack Merridew
and his choir to be the hunters. I am very upset with Ralph, he told all the boys that my name was
Piggy, even after I told him not to. I am sure I ll forgive him soon because for my whole life I have
been the subject of jokes, and I have learned to live with it. I already do not like Jack Merridew, and I
know he does not like me. I am glad Ralph is chief and not Jack. Ralph, Simon, and Jack went to

The fire grew out of control, and the kid with a scar on his face disappeared. He was just an innocent
kid who was anxious about some beastie. Incidents like that make me worry about getting off this
island. Ralph reassured us there is no islands undiscovered, and that it is just a matter of waiting to be
found. I am just not so sure about that. How can a person know and keep track of all the islands in the
world? Our chance of being saved is slim. If we do not have a signal fire and rules, I believe we do not
stand a chance in getting rescued. On a more positive note, I was finally useful today. The boys used
my specs to start the fire on the mountain. Although I could not help collect wood because of my
asthma, I at least was the one who enabled the fire to happen. Piggy Day Ten Jack and his hunters lost
our chance of being saved today. I have never felt this irritated before. I could be on my way home
right now but no, Jack and his hunters could not keep the fire going. They could not handle one simple
task. They were so caught up in the adrenaline of hunting a pig that nobody cared about returning
home. Jack s priorities need to be straightened out, but I do not want to be the one who does it. Jack

Collective Bargaining Executive Summary
Chapter 13 details the mechanisms by which the NLRB determines whether a union will represent a
company s employees for the purposes of collective bargaining. Represented employees within a
collective bargaining unit elect representatives of the specific bargaining unit to serve as the exclusive
representatives of said employees within the respective bargaining unit. While elections are common,
the NLRA does not require that a collective bargaining unit hold an election. Representatives can be
chosen through voluntary recognition as long as the representative has majority support of the
collective bargaining unit. Beyond that, the position of the union as the exclusive bargaining agent
supersedes any individual contracts of employment made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Section 9(b) of the NLRA provides that the definition of an appropriate bargaining unit is a matter left
to the Board s discretion. Section 9(b) also contains the following five provisions: The options open to

unit, or a subdivision thereof. The unit cannot contain both professional employees and non
professional employees, unless a majority of the professional employees have voted to be included in
the unit. A craft unit cannot be found to be inappropriate simply on the ground that a different unit was
established by a previous Board determination, unless a majority of the employees in the proposed
craft unit vote against representation in such a separate craft unit. A unit including non guard or non
security employees cannot include plant guards or security personnel; conversely, a union representing
plant guards cannot be certified if it also includes workers other than guards as members or if it is

Summary Of Literary Regionalism By Sarah Orne Jewett
Sarah Orne Jewett was a female author in the late 19th century, who can be immediately set apart from
other writers of her time by the quality and content of her work, as well as the fact of her success as a
female writer during a time when writing books was considered a man s profession. Jewett always had
a penchant for observation and contemplation, and utilized these abilities, along with valuable writing
advice given to her by her father, to develop her unique writing style. Without delving into deeper
analysis, there are two distinctive themes that are easily recognizable in the vast majority of Jewett s
anthology of works.
Jewett was born and grew up in South Berwick, a small rural town in southern Maine. Many, if not

Miss Dobin and Miss Lucinda Dobin from The Dulham Ladies are excellent examples of this. The
main story describes two women who are arrogant and stuck up in their inability to realize that they
are not nearly as fashionable and current as they would like to think, but despite their obnoxious
ignorance, it s surprisingly hard not to sympathize with the two. They re well written, complex
individuals that are relatable and likable realistic female characters in a time when most authors would
have written women as one dimensional plot devices with no depth of personality. Despite the fact that
Jewett s literary feminism often took a more passive form, she also occasionally used more
conspicuous allegory, such as the disturbance of the lives of the female characters Sylvia, Mrs. Tilley,
and the cow, by the intrusion of the male ornithologist in A White Heron.
Similarly, Jewett certainly didn t shy away from writing female characters in situations or roles
considered unusual or socially unacceptable for women at the time. Sylvia from A White Heron , who
Jewett based greatly off of her childhood self, is exactly the type of tomboyish, pocket knife wielding
and tree hugging young girl you don t often see in writing from this period. These deviations from that
era s common literary practices went so far as to describe women

Stalin Darkness At Noon Analysis
Stalin consciously and purposefully conducted a series of purges of the Bolshevik party in the 1930s.
These purges, and the Show Trials that accompanied them, solidified his cult of personality and
control of the country. Old Bolsheviks who opposed him in the past or could do so in the future were
arrested, made an example of, and typically executed. Stalin and his Politburo truly believed that
many people were out to get them, and anyone who was not on Stalin s side was against him. Often
the accused were convicted due to inaccurate or fraudulent evidence. Although Stalin was the main
perpetrator of these Purges, this essay examines the role of the accused in Darkness at Noon by Arthur
Koestler, and Last Letter to Stalin by Nikolai Bukharin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both figures believe that throughout their entire life, their loyalty to the party has been unhindered, yet
question the system after being convicted and interrogated. During a scene in the novel where
Rubashov lectures Richard, a young German communist, Rubashov tells him, The Party can never be
mistaken...it is the embodiment of the revolutionary idea in history...knows no scruples and no
hesitation...makes no mistakes...he who has not absolute faith in history does not belong in the Party s
ranks (Koestler, p 43). Rubashov s beliefs mimic Bukharin s unyielding stance on communist
principles and party policies. Bukharin says, I know all too well that great plans, great ideas and great
interests take precedence over everything, and I know that it would be petty for me to place the
question of my own person on a par with the universal historical tasks resting, first and foremost, on
your shoulders. In these two men, the realization is that the party is the ultimate goal, individual
people can be wrong but the Communist party can never be mistaken. Not believing in these ideals is
a direct opposition to the party itself. Later in the novel Rubashov realizes that that Party s policies are
actually going against the ideals the revolution stood for when he tells Ivanov, in the interest of a just
distribution of land we deliberately let die of starvation about five million farmers...we sent about ten
million people to do forced labor...Our engineers work wight he constant knowledge that an error in
calculation may take them to prison or the scaffold...we whip the groaning masses of the country
towards a theoretical future happiness (Koestler p 163). This is where we see a split in the ideologies
of Bukharin and Rubashov. While Rubashov has lost belief in the party system, Bukharin still justifies
Stalin s actions. He still thinks there is something great and bold about the

  • 2. Medical Sonography Career Path The career path that I am choosing to follow is Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This career involves the use of frequency waves to view tissues; organs and blood flow inside of the body. My main career goals involve getting into the program, then getting a solid career in this profession. From there I plan on growing and getting even more education if it is offered, as well as branching out into other fields of Songraphy. Sonography is considered fairly new to the medical world. It started back in the 19th century when people were becoming curious of what the inside of the body looked like. Soon after, the x ray was invented. Then the French government had a man named Paul Langevine invent an object to detect enemy submarines during war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Phase I is the general education course that consists of nine classes SITE. I think my biggest obstacles will be in this phase. This phase includes my biology classes, which means there is a lot of memorization required for different bones, tissues, and organs in the body. These classes can be taken at my own pace and the grades that I receive in these classes will determine if I get into phase II or not. Because the program at Greenville Tech only accepts 15 students, it is imperative that I perform to the best of my abilities in every one of my classes. Greenville Tech is also one of the few accredited programs in South Carolina, which makes it even more harder to be come a Sonographer. I must also have to attend a career talk to get into the program, which basically talks about a career in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and informs students on what to expect going into the program. Phase II of course, is the actual program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. It is a year long clinical and class environment where I will learn hands on how to be a Diagnostic Medial Sonographer. Altogether, becoming a sonographer could take from 2 4 years depending on the amounts of classes taken each semester, as well as the program itself. Before officially becoming a sonographer in South Carolina, I will have to take a test. It is called the Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation Examination, as well ... Security Analysis of Web based Conferencing Platforms versus Face to Face Meetings Introduction Technologies are increasingly being relied on to streamline communication, collaboration and also drastically reduce costs of operations. As travel costs have continued to escalate, companies are increasingly relying on digital and Web based forms of communication. One of the most rapidly growing continues to be the use of Web conferencing or teleconferencing. It is estimated that nearly 15 million small and medium businesses in the U.S. rely on Web conferencing on a daily basis to complete projects and build unified teams (Baez, 2012). There are nearly 25 million users of Web Conferencing solutions daily throughout the world s top 100 corporations, as these worldwide enterprises look to unify the intelligence and knowledge of their employees across departments, divisions and programs groups (Suduc, Bîzoi, Filip, 2009). Cisco has even taken Web Conferencing a step further and creating a telepresence platform that allows individuals to communicate literally as if they were in person, speaking to team rooms (Baez, 2012). While there have been many studies done on the relative merits of these systems, the most telling are the Return on Investment (ROI) analyses completed, which consistently show Web conferencing systems generate positive Return on Investment in two years or less in the majority of instances (Suduc, Bîzoi, Filip, 2009). • 4. Business Impact Analysis Paper Databases Implement High Availability for Mission Critical Mission critical databases support services that have an immediate, direct, and significant impact on revenue, goodwill, health and safety, and regulatory compliance. They require more attention than other systems. I will be discussing the following topics in this paper 1. Understand why implementing high availability for mission critical databases is so important to IT s success. 2. Learn why true availability relies on people, process, and technology. 3. Understand database methodology and approach to implementing high availability. Current Situation: For most systems, efficient backup/recovery processes and technology will meet recovery time (RTO) and recovery point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, an Info Tech survey found that a BIA has a significant impact on setting appropriate recovery time objectives (RTOs) and appropriate spending. Mission critical system uptime depends on people, process, and technology. If people and processes are ignored, the system becomes significantly more vulnerable to human error the number one cause of downtime. My Research Recommendation: Integrate these principles when planning for high availability Step 1 Take a proactive approach to high availability. Attention to and investment in high availability tends to happen reactively after system failures. When you proactively address high availability, you ll give yourself time to holistically approach HA and address people, process, and technology gaps. Step 2 It is the responsibility of IT to ensure the business has been informed about the options and costs of higher availability. Business users can t assess time impact of downtime in an information vacuum. IT team SMEs often acutely aware of the impact of system downtime should take a first cut to assess the impact of downtime, achievable recovery times, and options to improve availability Step 3 It is the responsibility of the business to decide what projects to fund. Business stakeholders must decide whether to fund a project, not the IT team. It is up to the business to make an informed decision about the availability investments ... • 5. Taking a Look at Islam and Judaims Introduction Apart from Christianity, Islam and Judaism are two of the most influential religions in the world, particularly in the Middle East. Although Judaism is not as large as Islam, it has impacted on the world in a profound manner. While it s quite evident that both Islam and Judaism appear to be having conflicting differences in terms of their doctrines, they are both know as Abrahamic religions because they share a common origin in the Middle East through Abraham in the Hebrew Bible. Nevertheless, Judaism is often considered to be the oldest of all the Abrahamic religions. Most ethnographers have been more interested in understanding on how the convictions between the two religions compare, based on their religious believes about God, afterlife, the universe and people. This can be attributed to the fact that the conflict between Islam and Judaism has been viewed as a result of irreconcilable clash of religious doctrines. But, I do not believe that this is really the case. This essay will focus on drawing a comparison between Judaism and Islam so as to establish the similarities and differences that exist between them. The comparison will then be used to support my opinion based on the ides that these religions can live together peacefully and that they are not destined for perpetual conflict. Similarities There are several doctrines and historical events that can be linked to the two religions. Both Islam and Judaism believe in the existence of one creator ... • 6. An Project On Water Resources Objective: This project focuses on water resources in the region of ancient Eastern Arabia at the site of As Safah, Oman. This site has archaeological evidence of metallurgical activities in the Iron Age (c. 900 600 BCE), like kilns, furnaces and metal objects, still in very good condition. However, the site is very far away from any natural water sources in the present day. Excavators did find sediment and fluvial deposits suggesting that occasionally in the past the site had an inflow of water (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 8). The objective of this project was to use satellite imagery to understand why this site was chosen for intensive metal production despite it distance from water, necessary for metal production. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later that year and throughout 2013, excavators worked on the site, conducting surveys and digging test trenches. Excavators found kilns and furnaces, layers of floor, and metal objects, like ax heads, swords, daggers, and sledgehammer heads in very good condition. Excavators believe it is a very well preserved site because of the formation and rapid movement of the desert sands which covered up the site relatively quickly after it was abandoned (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 3 4). Sites with similar metal deposits dating to approximately the same time have been found in the region, at Ibri, for example, 50 km west of As Safah (Yule 39 40). The site itself has been delineated into As Safah 1 and 2 based upon the deposit of material found on either side of a large dune belt (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 3). As Safah 1 measures approximately 80,000 m2 and As Safah 2 measures approximately 17 hectares (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 11). The surrounding area is made up of a wadi and dune deposits and the annual precipitation is less than 50 mm. As a result, large amounts of rainfall will cause flash floods in this and surrounding low areas (Genchi, Giardino, and Castelluccia 5 6). The site does not appear to be close to a fruitful water source. The entire region is hyperarid and not conducive to farming. The rain comes erratically by the year, some years being better than others (Potts 165). The location does offers other advantages which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Nuclear Sclerosis Case Study A 67 year old female Caucasian patient comes in to the clinic complaining of decreased vision, affecting the left eye more than the right. She is being treated for hypertension, cholesterol, and diabetes. Her distance vision is 20/25 OD and 20/40 OS and her near vision is 20/25 OD and 20/50 OS. Her prescription was found to be 11.00 1.00X180 OD and 13.50 1.50X015 OS, which is classified as high myopia. A 1+ nuclear sclerosis was found in the right eye. A 2+ nuclear sclerosis and a paracentral subcapsular cataract were found in the left eye. Due to these findings, it was determined that glasses could not fully fix the patients vision. This lead to a referral to a retinal specialist and a cataract surgeon. No other abnormalities were noted on the initial examination. The patient then came back when the cataract surgery was performed on the left eye and the visual acuity improved to 20/25 at distance and 20/25 at near OS. The main way light is obstructed on its way to the retinal is by a cataract in the lens, which is the case in this patient. These can form two major ways: ultraviolet light damage and aging. Ultraviolet light damage leads to an abundance of free radicals. These free radicals act on the crystalline proteins and cause them to clump together, creating a cataract.[2] Another way cataracts are formed is by the natural process of aging. Concentrations of alpha crystallins fall off with age with leads the other subtypes to aggregate and form scleroses (cataracts).[3] This is what is leading to the glare that the patient sees at night. The cataract is scattering the light entering her eye and leading to blur on the retina. Both of these could have contributed to the cataracts in this patient due to her being over 65 and due to her age naturally being exposed to more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Alex Rodriguez Broke Into Spring Camp With The Seattle... In 1994, an 18 year old kid from Miami named Alex Rodriguez broke into spring camp with the Seattle Mariners in an attempt to make the team. After almost immediately stepping into a Major League baseball field he became a household name. Within two years, he was an All Star. Within five, a regular 40 homer player. By the turn of the century, many were already putting him into the Hall of Fame discussion. On August 12, 2016, Rodriguez played what will be his final game as a New York Yankee after an incredible 12 years in New York. Considering the 41 year old s lack of playing time and declining production after a resurgent effort in 2015, this may very well be the end of the A Rod era entirely. And for A Rod, he was prepared to leave the game he fell in love with as a child. I do want to be remembered as someone who was madly in love with the game of baseball, someone who loves it at every level, Rodriguez said. Someone who loves to learn it, play it, teach it, coach it. And also, I m going to be hopefully remembered as someone who tripped and fell a lot, but someone that kept getting up. Rodriguez has led a very controversial 22 year baseball career. His lowest moment being when he was infamously suspended for the entire 2014 season following the Biogenesis investigation. The longest suspension ever served in Major League Baseball history. Valentine s Day Lou Ann Character Analysis Taylor also experiences injustice in the society she has been living, How can I just be upset about Turtle, about a grown man hurting a baby, when the whole day of the world is to pick on people that can t fight back (229). As Taylor learns more about the injustices of the world and the mothering, she becomes more disillusioned with the world and less sure of herself. This causes Taylor to rethink the world in different view which helps her see the world broaden. The dark side of the world can happen anywhere and to anybody, not only with the people she knows in Pittman. This also challenges Taylor about the motherhood. Besides Mattie, Taylor also needs helps from Lou Ann and sometimes depends on her. In chapter six Valentine s Day, Taylor expresses the feeling that she dislikes the idea Lou Ann and her act like a married couple. Lou Ann takes care of the kids and cooks. Conversely, Taylor goes to work to support the family (84 85). Kingsolver might suggest that growing close to Lou Ann makes Taylor scared. In other words, Taylor s real problem is a fear of attachment. However, Lou Ann proves to Taylor that relationship is helpful and good. Together, the two friends make a safe and happy home for themselves and their children. They both can share the feelings, talk, laugh and get drunk together. In short, their conversations actually make them feel better and understand each other more. Moreover, the two ladies support and help each other through good and bad times such as taking turn to cook and take care of the children. Also, Taylor helps Lou Ann become more independently, gain more confident and self reliance, begin to express opinions aloud, speak up and feel less inclined to bow to the opinions of others. In return, Lou Ann helps and protects Taylor when she faces difficult situations. In chapter twelve Into The terrible Night, after the incident happens to Turtle, Lou Ann takes one week off just to stay home to take care of Turtle, putting her promotion at risk (169) while Taylor is still in her depression state. • 11. Greek Theatre And Medieval Drama Greek Theatre and Medieval Drama: Distant Siblings Greek theatre and medieval drama were both very popular artistic events in their own periods of performance. However, from ancient Greece to the renaissance, time has set them apart in terms of methodology; their practitioners use a creative process based off of different mindsets. Therefore, the significant time lapse between the two genres has had an evident impact on the way theatre was perceived and presented. In comparing aspects such as religious motivations, conditions of violence and character development, the distinct theatrical natures of Greek theatre and medieval drama will be made apparent. Though both genres of theatre are closely tied to religion, Greek theatre and medieval drama have different religious motivations that impact the ways in which the theatrical event is utilized. In Greece, theatre was used to entertain or please the Gods, more specifically the God Dionysus, during the most important of the four Athenian festivals: the Great Dionysia. The first known Greek playwrights, such as Thespis and Euripides, were chosen to compete in the festival and submit three tragedies and one satyr play to be performed in front of approximately 15,000 spectators. In classical Greece, theatre was the center of citizenship and society; religious ideologies towards Dionysus were not only realized by performances, but strongly encouraged by the state. • 12. How Welfare Has Changed From The Colonial Period It is important to discuss the history of the emergence of this social problem. I will discuss the essence of poverty as a social problem and how that has affected how welfare is distributed among single mothers. Some factors that contributed to this social problem are the economy and he increasing amount of people who lived in poverty. The government felt that it was necessary to be proactive about the growing issue of poverty. The government was also taking a look at how money was being spent and how that contributed to the nation s debt. As a result some policies were put into place to address those issues. Many programs were on a trial and error period to determine the success rate of that program. If the social program had expenses that seemed to add to the deficit then those programs were either revamped or eliminated. It is important to examine how Welfare has changed from the Colonial period to present. A social problem is an undesirable condition that affects individuals or groups of people. Single mothers is the population that I will be discussing in this paper. Welfare reform and its impact on single mothers well being is the social problem that I ve chosen to analyze. Single mothers that are welfare recipients often go through different experiences that affect their well being. However, the Welfare reform changes have been a factor that has contributed to their well being positively and negatively. The goal of the reform is to cut down on social spending ... But this resulted from the erasure of the identity of a significant sector of the peoples residing within their borders (xxx, xxx). Moreover, enhanced self esteem and an improving lifestyle accruing from industrialization made assimilation less painful in these earlier cases of nation building (Stephen Castles 1998). The incongruity between state and nation is therefore compelling scholars to draw a distinction between the two. The belief that all states are, or must be, nations has almost inevitably generated an urge to make states out of all nations (Lord Acton, xxx). The people category is also embracing heterogeneity. From people perspective, two parallel trends have emerged: while the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the traditional functions of state that needs to end is the project that envisions to turn all the inhabitants of the state into one culturally and linguistically homogeneous nation. Denationalization of state is emerging as alternative to resolve the conflicts that born out of the antipathetic nationalism. The state should not be associated with any particular group, but should be the neutral common property of all its citizens (1992: 205). In simple term, since the state itself is changing in form and functions, so must the nationalist doctrine and strategy (Michael Keating 1998). Several points of departure also appear necessary when rearticulating nationalist doctrine and strategy to render them more resonant with contemporary reality. The formulation of identity should base on respect for democracy and human rights and the willingness to rigorously uphold them (xxx, xxx). Creating a fair balance between cultural diversity and framing a common political community is only possible through just recognition of each other s identities. Just recognition entails acknowledging the inherent worth of those whose identity is defined in different terms from ours. Reflecting the symbols and languages of all concerned collectivities in their constitutional foundation is the basics of just recognition (O Leary 1999). America had a shaky start in the engineering field, but the profession quickly picked up speed. From 2009 to 2013, engineering degrees grew twice as fast as other disciplines (Bidwell, The number of STEM degrees earned in the last 5 years grew exceptionally ). Everything from the most basic principles of engineering and the minutiae of an engineer s daily routine, to complexities such as payment and respect for the profession have changed drastically since the 1800s due to more people becoming open to the ideas of innovation and diversity in such an integral field. To be considered a professional engineer, a license is needed (Mraz, Changes in the Engineering Profession Over 80 Years ). Another evolution of engineering that occurred, was companies switching to a system called concurrent engineering. This is essentially just making sure that all of the employees for a certain job understand each step of the design process, giving them the ability to share opinions on each step along the way. Prior to this development, each engineer in a company had knowledge only on their specialty and could not offer input on any other process. This was largely implemented in the 1980s. When this was used, companies had 100% improvement in quality (Salustri, an Extremely Abbreviated History of Engineering Design ). Engineering used to be a small, seemingly insignificant job. There were not many places and ways to successfully apply engineering, and even in the times where actual engineering was done, the engineer may not have been properly credited. There were people throughout history that accomplished things that would today be categorized as engineering, but at the time, all the fields of engineering had not yet been discovered. In the Milwaukee Art Museum, there s a program called the Satellite Program to gather teenagers for an internship to spread the word of Art. By bringing together different school districts and people you get a weird bunch of art and not so art kids. However they are all unique and talented in their own way. I ll be telling you of the Milwaukee Art Museum interns that are a bit too dedicated, the ones who slack off, and the one who just started an internship program. Yes, they have their flaws but we are still a big happy bunch of misfit art kids. There s always one teen that has way too much experience in the art realm. It s scary how one teen can know and do so much, they are usually the prodigy of a famous artist or they are just born with a paintbrush in their hand. In the intern program there was one girl who had already did like one hundred internships since she was five years old. I was taken aback; to be gifted with so much art knowledge was amazing. The only problem though is when you re trying to critique an artwork and you have to take notes, your notes are simple and direct. Yet her notes were extravagant, filled with doodles, body art, side notes from the 1400 s and blessed by the Pope. This intern is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Formation Of Acc And Its Conversion Into Ethylene The evolution of ACC also brings about the production of 5¢ methylthioadenosine nine. Increase in the rate of respiration of the fruit gives ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) need for the methionine cycle and can lead to induced ethylene production without high levels of intracellular methionine. SAM is a crucial methyl giver and relates to numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. Thus, the two steps involved in the synthesis of ethylene is the formation of ACC and its conversion into ethylene. The genes encoding ACS and ACO have therefore been studied more deeply than other enzymes in the pathway, although there is proof that a few other genes concerned with methionine synthesis and methionine salvage pathway are differentially demonstrated throughout ripening and in response to ethylene (Alba and others 2005; Zegzouti and others 1999). ACS and ACO are encoded by multigene families in higher plants, with tomato having at most nine ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS1B, and LEACS2 8) and five ACO (LEACO1 5) genes (Barry and others 1996; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Oetiker and others 1997; Van der Hoeven and others 2002; Zarembinski and Theologis 1994). Expression survey has disclosed that at least four ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS2, LEACS4, LEACS6) and three ACO (LEACO1, LEACO3, LEACO4) genes are differentially shown in tomato fruit (Barry and others 1996, 2000; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Rottmann and others 1991). Cephalopods, is the class of mollusks which scientists classify octopuses, squid, cuttlefish and nautiluses, can change color faster than a chameleon. They can also change texture and body shape, and, and if those camouflage techniques don t work, they can still disappear in a cloud of ink, which they use as a smoke screen or decoy. Octopuses and squids can swim in any direction and can alter their course quickly. Squids use fins located on their heads to propel themselves when swimming at low speeds. These fins steer and stabilize the squids when moving slowly, and wrap around the body when they move quickly, by way of jet propulsion. Most octopuses do not have fins as adults. Some deep water octopuses are exceptions. (Octopuses Squids,n.d) How do octopuses and squids reproduce? The male octopus uses a specialized arm called a hectocotylus to transfer sperm to the mantle cavity of a receptive female. The female lays strings of fertilized eggs on the roof of her den. She guards, cleans and aerates the eggs with water expelled from her siphon until hatching. This can be anywhere from 30 days to a year, depending on the species. The female may build a wall of rocks to seal off the den and will remain in the den until just before she dies, after the eggs have hatched. Squids often mate in large groups, and attach their egg capsules to the ocean floor or to seaweed. Most adult octopuses and squid die after reproducing. Their bodies are recycled in the food web, nourishing other animals, and ultimately providing food for their young when they hatch. (Octopuses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Gattaca Self Determination Essay The role of self determination is quite present throughout multiple scenes within the movie involving Vincent and his brother competing in their own swimming contest dubbed Chicken in which they attempt to out swim the other. Initially, Anton outswims brother in almost every race because of his innate physical advantages not due to his determination as throughout Anton s life he never had to try due to him being a valid. Though Vincent eventually succeeds and beats his brother in chicken as through sheer determination as unlike Anton, Vincent was constantly told that he was naturally inferior. Every time he swam against Anton, he put in all his effort. This is the first demonstration of the role of self determination within the film as despite losing almost every time Vincent does not lose hope but instead becomes more determined than before. This proves to Vincent that if he is capable of beating his valid brother, he is able to fulfil his dream of becoming an astronaut at Gattaca. The role of self determination is also apparent towards the end of the movie in which the two brothers play chicken one last time in which Vincent beats his brother once more. Anton yells, Vincent! How are you doing this Vincent? How have you done any of this? We have to go back. To which Vincent later replies, You wanna know how I did it? This is how I did it Anton. I never saved anything for the swim back. This shows that Vincent is 100% dedicated to the task that he is willing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it is not a new form of leadership we have seen in politics. Paul Ryan is a Republican and the Republicans do currently have power in the Senate and House of Representatives. Clearly though, the Republican Party is divided and struggles to solve current issues in congress. Currently this is due to collective action issues such as, the need for information, time, and coordination currently in Republican Party. What Paul Ryan has done to solve these issues so far is, unify republicans, and at the same time solve collective action issues and other problems thus far by giving congressional committees the power to achieve these issues. The history of Congressional power from 1890 to present day has varied from strong individuals, to strong committees. From 1890 to about 1910 the speaker would heavily influence the House of Representatives. Speakers had the power to appoint the committees to chairs, and had control of legislative agenda s. But in 1910, a revolt had happened against Speaker Joe Cannon. Power shifted to the committees whose leaders were based on seniority. From the 1920 s to the 1970 s party influence was very weak and this was known as the era of committee government. Beginning in the 1970 s preferences of the party and its members became more similar. They did not have to be as concerned with the leader s preferences, because it would ... Their children were supposed to inherit the status of their mothers regardless of whom the father was. In other words, they would still be non citizens. This was prompted by the enactment of several legislations like the 1712 Slave Codes which was later adopted by nearly all the colonial states. Together with many amendments and court rulings, this migrant group was stripped of American citizenship alongside other privileges exclusively reserved for the whites. A Research Project On The Data Collection Process Manatowa Research Project Report Identify and describe key lessons learned in your data collection process The first potential participant I spoke with on the phone asked me a question, can any staff member volunteer to participate or do they have to be a licensed social worker ? A very valid question and something I had not anticipated. I did not know how to answer her at first. That fact was not part of my research design. As explained by the University of Oxford Personnel Service UAS (2015) among the standards in research is the practice code of being honest in proposing, conducting and reporting research. Academic research often has class timeline parameters which puts a strain on the academic researcher. The integrity of the researcher in academic research class may be tested by shortcomings as the result of faults in the design phase. The academic research must choose to do the right thing and act in an ethical manner when situations arise such as in the recruitment of participants and modifications during the data collection phase. Research design can eliminate potential pitfalls and challenges during research data collection and interpretation of that data. Spending more time and effort in the design phase will help to eliminate and/or reduce such ethical situations. Crotty (1998) suggested: 1. • 24. China s Stature As A Political As Well As Economic... Synopsis: China s stature as a political as well as economic hegemon continues to grow well into the second decade of the 21st century. This has led many to believe that the Chinese Renminbi (which is denominated in the Yuan, and hence, referred hereafter as such) may soon eclipse the United States Dollar (USD) as the World Reserve Currency (WRC). Such claims of a currency of a large economy eclipsing the USD as the WRC have been rife in the past. In its heyday, Japan s Yen was thought to have the capacity to overthrow the USD s dominating position in the 1970 s. After that, the German Mark was widely expected to do the same in the 1980 s. And later, the Euro too was theorized to be the next WRC. The major aim of this paper is to give economic and political arguments to show that the Yuan will similarly not succeed to dethrone USD as the world s most dominant currency. This essay is divided into several sections. The first section deals with defining what exactly the author means by World Reserve Currency and Dominant Currency because without underlying this, the issue becomes vague and ambiguous. The second section seeks to answer the factors affecting currency compositions of reserves across the world and will briefly argue why the USD (and not the Yuan or any other currency) continues to fit the bill as the perfect reserve currency. It is followed by section three which asks why the tag of World Reserve Currency is so important and also answers why the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. The Literary Style Of Cavendish s The Blazing World In the epilogue of The Blazing World, Cavendish puts forth that anyone who does not wish to be a subject of her world can instead create their own (Cavendish 163), but how does one do this? In the story, the Empress asserts that in order to create a world one must frame it, strengthen it, and beautify it (126). The literary world that she creates in The Blazing World itself follows this system as her use of structured lists, her descriptions of the strength of her society and her use of poetic techniques in prose each support these ideas. This principal of world creation can be seen not only throughout The Blazing World, but through her poetry as well. In her poem Of Many Worlds in This World, Cavendish is able to convey these three rules of world building through both form and content while creating a whole system of worlds for the reader to imagine. The passage of The Blazing World that this essay will focus on is a passage in which the Duchess convinces the Empress to make a world in her mind which the Empress decides not to dissolve. The passage ends with the Empress desiring to see the Duchess s world and it s government and society. This passage not only creates a world within the text, a world filled with creatures, laws, arts and sciences (126), but adds to the greater world of the story that Cavendish creates. In this passage one can see a bit of how Cavendish creates her world through both the content of the passage and form. This passage exhibits the framing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Book Comic Party Poster Essay Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life, Manga comic party poster Summary: Just when high school nears the close, a Japanese student named Kazuki and his girlfriend, is pulled by his scheming best friend Taishi into the world of fan comics. As Kazuki s obsession with finishing his comic in time for the next convention threatens his schoolwork and his relationships, he must decide how he will use his time or risk losing Mizuki. STORY 4.1 Tragically, it has been a long time since I watched the show, and clearly my methods changed over the years. From the fragments I do remember comes a great, clean story of one named Kazuki and his introduction into Manga (specifically doujinshi) that takes us on a journey through an industry. When most people think of Manga in America, they might compare it to Marvel Comics, which is somewhat misleading. Manga is not reserved for super heroes nor to trite concepts that may be disgusting in America (see The Mask) but yet never quite puts us inside. This is not to say Comic Party attempts this, rather it expresses the deeply woven nature of the Manga universe that should give any foreigner a pause before stereotyping the industry negatively. This is perhaps the biggest appeal and weakness to Comic Party, in that as an educational comedy it seeks to balance self deprecating jokes with giving its audience a better comprehension of the work involved, all while not coming off as boring or uninspired. Whether it succeeds is largely up to you, however ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bukharin says, I know all too well that great plans, great ideas and great interests take precedence over everything, and I know that it would be petty for me to place the question of my own person on a par with the universal historical tasks resting, first and foremost, on your shoulders.
