via a single synapse between sensory axons and motor neurons and confined to the spinal cord. In this
experiment, two simple spinal reflexes the myotactic reflex and the H reflex were stimulated. We
compared a) the latency period the amount of time between a stimulus and the effector response and
the amplitude magnitude of an electrical signal of each reflex; then, b) the effect of the Jendrassik
Maneuver (JM) upon the latency period and amplitude of each respective reflex. For the myotactic
response, a mechanical stimulus, a sharp strike of the patellar tendon, was utilized to elicit a signal in
stretch receptors; however, to trigger the H reflex, an electrical impulse was applied. These reflexes
originate from an action potential produced by a sensory neuron when a stimulus is applied. Sensory

The Hurt of Internalized Racism
Racist ideology is institutionalized when how people s interactions reflects on an understanding that
they share the same beliefs. However, in The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, the topic of racism is
approached in a very unique way. The characters within the novel are subjected to internalizing a set
of beliefs that are extremely fragmented. In accepting white standards of beauty, the community
compromises their children s upbringing, their economic means, and social standings. Proving
furthermore that the novel has more to do with these factors than actual ethnicity at all.
In The Bluest Eye, characters experience a variety of oppressive , that give rise to the never ending
cycle of victimization in both the families and neighborhood. Throughout the novel, the black
community accepts white beauty ideals, for example, judging Maureen s light skin to be highly
attractive in comparison to Pecola s darker features. Racism is also apparent in other indirect ways.

William s paper addresses the moral risk that is posed when people decide to intentionally remain
ignorant to avoid a possible ethical crisis. She then elaborates on how this choice manifests itself in
four different types of affected ignorance. She bases her belief that factory farming is wrong using
deontology and utilitarianism because animals deserve respect as well as the ability to exist without
pain that is atypical from a natural life. Her argument is that when we chose affected ignorance, we
then become subject the possibility of moral risk if we identify that factory farming is morally wrong
and continue to support it. I agree with her argument, but believe that it could be strengthened by
developing the idea of how affected ignorance is a symptom of being weak willed.
Williams begins with the idea that we do not ask questions about what happens with factory farming
and that therefore makes us culpable for the disrespect that is administered to the animals while

children s awareness and understanding to improve their health. The objectives of the program was to
further educate children on healthy eating such as what foods are good or bad for them and increase
their participation in exercise.1 Another reason for the implementation of an obesity program in an
after school programs to see whether it can be fitted into the children s curriculum of having more
physical and health education than having mostly on academics.1 The evaluation methods that the
evaluators used a modified version of the Traffic Light Diet program which used the traffic light
