Washington Mutual s Covered Bonds
the pool; an investor in a covered bond had recourse to the issuer, as well as a claim that was secured
by the mortgages.2
The mortgages collateralizing the covered bond were called the cover pool . Covered bonds were
typically structured so as to receive a rating of AAA or AA from the major rating organizations
(AAA denoted instruments of the highest quality). One important difference between covered bonds
and MBS was that the set of mortgages securing the covered bond were dynamic; in contrast,
mortgages comprising a MBS remained static once the security was issued. In the case of a covered
bond, mortgages that experienced delinquencies were generally substituted out of the pool, with
performing mortgages replacing them.
Just as the individual mortgages in the cover pool were dynamic, the total size of the cover pool was
dynamic as well. The amount of overcollateralization (i.e., the extent to which the size of the cover
pool would exceed the face value of the covered bonds) would adjust dynamically depending on the
financial health of the issuer. Exhibit 6 shows how recently, as WaMu had been downgraded by the

Invite Three People To Dinner
If you got the chance to invite three people to your dinner party, dead or alive, who would you
choose? I would invite Jensen Ackles, Robin Williams, and Barack Obama to my dinner party because
they re all very humorous and a great inspiration to me. It was a hard choice, but I chose these three
people for many reasons. Jensen Ackles is my number one choice because he has been my biggest
obsession for the past few years. He is an actor in the show Supernatural, where he plays a character
named Dean. I have loved him for a long time not just for his looks, but also for his hilarious
personality. He is also very sweet; right now he is raising money for a community support network
called You are Not Alone. He would be a substantial person to meet and have dinner with. ... Show

I believe his greatest roll was as John Keating in Dead Poets Society, as that movie was very
inspirational and his character is very influential. He has many other rolls that are either comedies or

though he recently committed suicide, I would wish to invite him because he is both funny and

The Death Of A Old Child
As a young child, everything was positive. Everything was okay; nothing in the world could have
possibly gone wrong. Even in a graveyard, everything seemed to be another day. The green grass, the
tall stones, the light blue sky, hanging over our heads. It s a park mom! Look at all these stones to rest
behind after a game of tag! I received some soft smiles, some little laughs. There is nothing heart
breaking about this place.
Or at least I thought.
It only took one word to have my world come crashing down into pieces. Death. On September 19th,
the day I was told, nothing seemed to have been different. I felt the same, looked the same everything
around me was the exact same. There was no burning in my eyes, no feeling as if my throat ... Show

The tears swelled in my eyes. Don t cry, don t cry. Everything is alright. Then came the burning in my
throat, and my chest tightened. Almost as if I swallowed a stone and there are only limited breathes
before I d find myself in a casket. A pounding had formed in my head, an ongoing bang as if I was a
nail that was getting hammered into the wall. I was given a flower to put next to him in the casket. The
same bright flowers at the graveyard. It is different; this is my grandfather. He cannot be gone, he isn t
gone. I am not ready to let go just yet. I was still holding on to his hand so tightly.
People gathered in the funeral home, and the constant pats on my back and saying how sorry they
were was all that was said to me that night. I wanted to respond with Why are you sorry? like I would
have as a child. Instead, I just nodded and lent a faint smile to each person. There were also a series of
hugs for sympathy, but each hug made the burning grow and the tears want to spill more. No crying.
Not yet.
Eventually, as it came time to say our last goodbyes, I felt someone slip their arms around me. I was
prepared for my answer, but instead, new words came.
He loved you so much, the voice whispered. Remember that. And I did. I was the last to say my good
bye. I gripped onto his hand, ignoring the coldness. I put the flower next to him, and allowed the stem
to touch his palm. I then took a chain with my first and last initials on

Literature Review On Stress Induced Somatization
Review: Stress induced somatization in spouses of deployed and nondeployed servicemen
Summary:
In Stress induced somatization is spouses of deployed and nondeployed serviceman, authors Burton et
al. s (2009) found spouses of deployed serviceman had significantly higher perceived stress scores
than spouses of nondeployed service members . The authors used a survey research type of study with
participatory information was demonstrated in the response information. They describe their main
claim is to compare the perceived stress experienced by spouses of deployed versus non deployed
servicemen. A sub claim is compare the level of somatization experienced in both groups. An
additional sub claim is to determine the relationship between perceived stress and level of
somatization experienced by spouses (p.333)
Materials and methods included a convenience sample of 130 participants from military installations
in the mid Atlantic region of the United States All were female, age 18 and older with an active duty
classification. The authors used a transactional system of analysis using a perceived stress scale, PSS
10. Further, a once only study interval, with no trials involved. Consequently, the authors sought a
form survey and used a t test in determination. The authors claimed construct validity was achieved by
supporting material result with higher stress levels in deployed serviceman spouses (p .001).
Somatization also significantly higher in spouses of deployed

Rhetorical Analysis Of Bill Bryson s A Walk In The Woods
Bill Bryson, author of A Walk in the Woods , writes of his experience on the Appalachian trail. In my
particular passage, Bryson talks about the bears on the Appalachian trail and he talks a lot about them
to emphasize the deaths they have caused on the trail and how unpredictable they are, which is why he
had doubts on walking the trail. His main purpose is to get the reader to gain an understanding about
bears and where his fear of them derives from. Bill Bryson uses imagery, ethos, and rhetorical
questions to express his feelings about bears while also informing the reader about bears. Bryson uses
imagery that creates a tense, terrifying mood to illustrate the scene of a bear attacking your camp.
Imagine, if you will, lying in the dark alone in a little tent, nothing but a few microns of trembling
nylon between you and the chill night air, listening to a 400 pound bear moving around your campsite.
Imagine it s quiet grunts and mysterious snufflings...the sounds of moist gnawings, the pad of its feet
and the heaviness of its breath... He uses imagery so the reader can get a sense of where he s coming
from about being away from civilization on a trail, and a bear raiding your camp while you re
sleeping. We know where is fear is coming from and can now relate to it. ... Show more content on

The author uses ethos as credibility for facts about bears. Bryson uses the New York Times as his
source, and since most people know what that is, they know that his facts are true because of his
reliable source. According to an article in the New York Times, bear attacks in North America have
increased by 25 percent. The Times article also noted that bears are far more likely to attack humans in
the spring following a bad berry

Reconstruction Of African American During Reconstruction
History helps shape the future and what we can learn from it to make sure that we do not repeat the
same mistakes. During Reconstruction, the country was trying to make amends after the war was over.
The country needed to find a way to mend a broken nation because it was divided. The main issue
during reconstruction was the status of African Americans because they wanted their civil rights, but
could not get that. The question that needs to be answered is: who did the most to aid the cause of
African American during Reconstruction, and why? Many organizations and people helped African
Americans, but the Freedman s Bureau did the most. They helped provide education for the freed
African Americans. According to the Virginia Historical Society, they say, they used their authority
over former confederate properties to provide buildings for schools. The Freedman s Bureau wanted to
make sure that African Americans had a proper education because they were deprived of education
while they were growing up. The Virginia Historical Society says, the Freedman s Bureau, missionary
associations, and African Americans themselves funded the schools; many of the mostly white, female
teachers came from the south with the missionary associations. The Bureau wanted this to be
successful and with the help of the missionary associations and the African Americas to fund the
schools, it would make it a reality. The Freedman s Bureau did everything that they could to make sure

Strategic Direction For Joint Operations
The security environment today is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA). The
challenges presented by globalization, emerging powers as well as the continuing threat of terrorism
indicate the future security environment will continue to gain complexity. Adding to this complexity is
the challenge of increasingly constrained fiscal resources. To protect U.S. National Security interests
in this complex and constrained environment, Joint Force 2025 (JF 2025) requires four core
capabilities, it must be agile, adaptable, survivable and integrated. Supporting these capabilities
requires proper balancing of the Joint Force. This essay discusses the impending environment, key
strategic direction for JF 2025, the capabilities required by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The National Military Strategy of the United States articulates several specific challenges to U.S.
National Security interests that will confront JF 2025. Russian aggression toward its neighbors and
defiance of international standards of behavior threatens stability in Europe. Iranian nuclear ambitions
and support of terror imperils Israel and the Middle East. A bellicose and nuclear North Korea is a
threat to America s allies, Japan and the Republic of Korea. The emerging power of China offers both
opportunities in the form of greater economic cooperation, but also challenges as they expand their
military capabilities, menace Taiwan and make provocative claims in the South China Sea. Finally,
violent extremist organizations (VEOs) such as ISIS and al Qaida continue to degrade regional
stability and threaten U.S. interests.
The emergence of near peer competitors like China and Russia and the threat of malign regional
powers like Iran and North Korea continue to make inter state war conceivable for JF 2025. The threat
posed by VEOs and failing or failed states continues to foster regional instability making overseas
contingency operations a likely possibility. In between these on the continuum of conflict is hybrid
conflict which combines conventional and non conventional forces employing both traditional military

Cross Cultural Virtual Teams Essay
Introduction
The evolution of globalization and the advancement of communication technology have increased the
amount of cross cultural, virtual teams in existence in today s business world. Cross cultural, virtual
teams can leverage on the diverse experiences of its members to achieve good results even without the
members meeting face to face.
Having good leadership of any project team is undoubtedly essential for the success of the team. It is
thus imperative for virtual, cross cultural teams to be led properly and carefully so that their cultural
diversity and virtual presence does not become a source of conflict and eventual failure.
Challenges posed by cultural diversity among team members
There are a number of challenges that a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it easier for them to understand words spoken than between members of cross cultural
teams where first languages and accents may differ. For example, I work with a multicultural team and
I often find it difficult to understand my Turkish colleagues when they try to speak English. Many
times I ask questions so that I can get the message they are trying to pass across. It however becomes
frustrating sometimes because a lot of important information often gets lost in the discussion because I
can t understand properly. This has caused delay in meeting business targets in the past.
Cross cultural team members also face a challenge of having to understand that other team members
possibly have a different idea of how to treat their bosses. Drawing from the example of my job team
at work, I noticed that my American team members do not really run their ideas through our team
leader before taking actions. However, my Turkish boss does not like this as he comes from a culture
where everything a subordinate does should be run through the boss for approval. This had caused
strains in the team s effectiveness in the past; until my American team members adapted to fit our
team leader s wishes.
As with my previous example, my American partners often make quick decisions without really
examining the complete consequences of their decisions. This can be traced to their quick and sharp
approach to life while my Turkish and Egyptian counterparts like to look through

Nursing As A Nursing Career
Nursing is a very intriguing profession with an open door to many new opportunities. While in the
field many exciting experiences may come at you. The medical field has always interested me, but I
was never quite sure on what career would suit me best and was the right one to pursue. There are
many nurses in my family: my mom, sister in law, my cousin s wife Taylor and my aunt Julene. After
hearing all of their exciting stories I decided that nursing is the perfect career. It provides a great place
to start at and expand to bigger and better things. In nursing you never know what is going to happen.
There is constant excitement and challenge in a nurse s life. As weird as it may sound, I enjoy being in

After searching through the ASVAB Career Exploration and looking at Career Cruising, they both
pointed to a career in the medical field, specifically the direction of nursing. The opportunity to take
the ASVAB test was provided by the school and upon completing it and going onto the ASVAB
program website I took the FYI (find your interests) test. My interest code was ECS which stands for
enterprising, conventional, and social. Enterprising activities allow you to take a leadership role.
Conventional activities require attention to accuracy and detail. Social activities allow you to use your
skills and talents to help, teach, and counsel others. When searching through the careers that fit this
code, nursing was a match. (ASVAB Career Exploration Program) The education needed to become a
nurse varies. According to ASVAB, about 23% of people with this career have a bachelor s degree.
Although there are other education options, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the most
practical and preferred choice. This degree provides a positive outlook when looking to progress
forward with other career options. Four year programs prepare RNs for nursing jobs and most require
students to get experience in clinical settings. The first two years of education often concentrate on
psychology, human growth and development, biology, and anatomy and physiology. The final two
years focus more on adult acute and chronic disease, maternal/child health,

Examining the Economic Platform of a Political Party Essay...
Examining the Economic Platform of a Political Party
Al Gore and the Democratic Party have many plans for the Tax Reform and Social Security issues.
These two very important issues play a very big part in the upcoming presidential Election of 2000.
The Economic issues are very crucial in his bid to become our countries next president. The following
things discussed in my paper show us how Al Gore and the Democratic Party stand on very important
issues for the future.
Gore proposes that people buying and selling Social Security records should be charged with a federal
crime. Gore also proposes how he will make it a National Priority for better protection of Social
Security numbers. This is a more recent problem that has arisen ... Show more content on

(Time.com) Al Gore plans to maintain the existing Social Security by subsidizing it. This would take it
from its current position as general taxation. Gore is trying to preserve its basic guarantees, pay down
our debt and all of that makes it possible and easier to meet the other challenges set forth by Al gore
and the Democratic party.
Another big economic issue in the presidential race is tax reform. Gore is prepared with several,
thought to be successful, plans for tax cuts and reforms should he be elected. The Clinton
administration had successful disciplined and prudent economic policies which Gore states he would
like to continue (Al Gore on Tax Reform). In reserve, Gore would like to set aside $300 billion in
instance that the rosy projections do not materialize. Gore promises to make up to $10,000 in college
tuition tax deductions in order to increase enrollment (Al Gore on Tax Reform).
Most of Gore s campaign focuses on family itself. He proposes lowering taxes for families with
targeted tax reform. The plan Gore suggests, will make the burden of taxes on the so called middle
class families the lowest they have been in over 50 years. By helping families pay for college through
the College Opportunity Tax Cut, long term care needs will also be met. This initiative, for the first

Stereotypes Report
Put an Asian in a fight and expect him to use his expert martial art skills. He ll pull out his nunchucks,
put his hands into fists, and yell Ha ya! while charging at his opponent at full speed. Then he ll karate
chop him and land his foot on his opponent s face. This is one of many stereotypes Asians are
associated with. Stereotypes are standardized, preconceived notions or images invested with a
common group of people. In other words, stereotypes are oversimplified opinions about a group of
people or things who share similar characteristics such as race and gender. Stereotypes are common in
society today. Being an Asian American like other races come with society s ideas of who they are and

Some examples of positive stereotypes are that Asians are good at math or men are good leaders. Yet,
positive stereotypes have negative effects. In January of 2013, John Oliver Siy and Sapna Cheryan
conducted multiple experiments to answer the question, If hearing a negative stereotype about your
group gets you upset, does hearing a positive stereotype have the opposite effect? In one study, an
Asian and White participant were to fill out a packet. One packet had math problems and the other had
verbal problems. The White participant was given the choice to decide who did what packet. Then he
told the Asian, I know all Asians are good at math. How about you take the math packet. I ll work on
this one. Being a math genius categorizes as a positive stereotype which should make an Asian feel
good about themselves. Instead, when the participants were asked how they felt after the activity, the
Asian said he felt disregarded and depersonalised. When the positive stereotype was used in this
situation, the Asian participant felt less like an individual. This study showed how positive stereotypes
are not always positive and how they can hurt others

The Fashion Designer Who Showed Avant Garde Fashion
All of these Japanese fashion designers, Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo, and Yohji Yamamoto passed
the same time period in Japan. Though they have their own styles and differences among them, these
fashion designers pursued the same philosophy of 1980 s deconstructionism to create avant garde
fashion. And that is certainly evident in each of their Paris collections, especially their debut shows.
Through this fashion style, Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons and Yohji Yamamoto
are considered the most successful and internationally known Japanese designers in the West, and they
solidified their position in the French fashion establishment (Kawamura 92). Issey Miyake is actual
the first Japanese fashion designer who showed avant garde fashion in the West. He is called as the
father of anti fashion. In 1973, Miyake was invited to the group Pret a porter which was created for
French ready to wear institution. There are some young other genius fashion designers such as Thierry
Mugler and Sonia Rykiel. Two years later, he made his design shop in 1975 and hold his own Paris
collection. His unique concept A Piece of Cloth got a lot of attention and gave an big impact and
influence for Western people. They never seen that kinds of Miyake s unique and creative style of

As permanent colour change is subjective, the detection of the end point is inconsistent, resulting in an
imprecise experiment.
However, systematic errors affected the experiment the most. The most significant systematic error
was reading off the amount of potassium manganate (VII) used in the titration from the burette. Due to
the deep purple colour of the solution, it was very difficult to read the increments. For both the initial
and final burette readings, readings might have been taken off the top of the meniscus, causing an
overestimation of potassium manganate (VII) needed and thus, the experimental mass of FeSO4 in
one tablet was larger than the manufacturer s claim of 300mg in one tablet.
Additionally, the dissolving method of the iron tablets was a major systematic error. Because we were
just using a glass rod to crush and stir the iron tablets and because of the limited time spent on the
procedure, the iron tablets may not have been completely dissolved in the water. Hence, there would
be less Fe2+ ions in the iron solution and thus, less potassium manganate (VII) would be needed to
reach the end point. Some Fe2+ ions might also have been lost on the filter paper or the beaker whilst
transferring the solution, thus causing less potassium manganate to reach the end point and resulting in
inaccurate measurements and calculations.
Evaluation:
As seen from the relatively small percentage error (1.49%) of my experimental result when compared

Janis Joplin Influence
Everywhere you go and everyone you see is somehow influenced by some type of music. Maybe it s
some kind of childhood learned adaption of what type of music influences them, or maybe the way a
musician preforms make them feel something. One artist in particular most definitely made an impact
on people and caused an uproar in the late sixties. This woman s name was Janis Joplin. Born on
January 19, 1943, Janis Joplin would begin her short, but memorable life in Port Arthur, Texas. As
most do, Janis developed a love for music when she was the youngest she could remember. Her career
really didn t take off until she joined the band, Big Brother and the Holding Company in 1966. ( Janis
Joplin ) Only two years after joining the band, she would get into an altercation after their album
together released, and then leave the band to pursue more. In her life she would have went to a few
places for education. She started out at Lamar State College but found herself in the end at University
of Texas. ( Janis Joplin | ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Between her shocking musical choice and unbreakable determination, she would be a model for all
women who wished to excel in the male dominant world of rock and roll. Despite the intimidations of
this standard, Janis feared nothing and took full force. In fact, it may have pushed her to have more
desire to succeed. This was very influential to young women everywhere. Underneath this carefree,
unfearful life, Janis struggled with insecurities and unfair bullying. She dealt with these situations by
partying, just as hard as the men. ( Final 24, Janis Joplin ) She also was driven to a strong alcohol
addiction. This is what is believed to what girls related to Janis with the most: her deep, dark secrets
and issues. Again, her peculiar interest in preforming rock and roll music made her so special, and
certainly memorable. Janis Joplin s outstanding career impacted music history

Credit Sesame Commercial Meaning

is a service that gives consumers a free credit score, but also shows them what is impacting their score

Even though the advertisement was only thirty seconds long, the advertisement stuck with me because
of the humorous line at the end of the commercial that caught my attention. Another marketing
strategy used in the ad was using fear. The ad seemed to be designed to invoke a sense of fear into
consumers that just knowing their credit score was not enough, and that Credit Sesame would be the
perfect solution to subside those fears of the unknown. Additionally, Credit Sesame seems to be using
the marketing strategy of repetition. With the commercial being only thirty seconds long, Credit
Sesame can air the advertisement more often I have seen this commercial often on this channel and
others. The advertisement was also slightly louder than the television show I was watching, which is a
famously unpopular marketing strategy; however, the volume change was only apparent to me when I
reviewed the ad a few times for this assignment. Finally, the advertisers used bright colors and
graphics to make the television commercials eye catching. I do not own the product that the
advertisement is promoting, but these marketing strategies have almost swayed me into checking out
Credit Sesame. However, after learning about restraint in making purchases in Personal Finance, I will
do some research beforehand to make sure that the product is legitimate and safe to

The essence of marketing is value creation, where the goal is a long term satisfaction by building

marketing is based on exchanges where the objective is for all parties in the exchange to feel satisfied

Guinness principles of marketing
Guinness marketing is focused on the consumers by offering what they want, which are quality. The
company want to deliver high quality standards and uses it as an advantage to stand out on the market
by offering a stout beer, which is made from their own raw materials, on high level of equipment and
having employers with well trained capability (Vanguard, 2013), because they believe that you cannot
make money from people unless you are willing for people to make money from you (Sohn, 2013).
They have also increased their focus on the marketing of Guinness brand name in 2013 by £34 million
to boost its quality association on the beer market, so the drinkers get a feeling of quality when they
taste a Guinness. This strategy is based on their market research, which confirm that consumers
associate a quality pint with a quality pub and 80% of male drinkers believe getting the quality of
serve right is more important in draught beer than in any other drink category (Charles, 2013).
Therefore Guinness manages to implant a special place in the collective consumer conscience, which

Sarcoptic Mange Research Paper
Sarcoptic mange is a common parasitic disease of the skin among mammalian species, including dogs.
In dogs, this non seasonal and highly contagious infection is caused by infestation with the mite
Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis (Espinosa et al. 2017). These adult mites have four pairs of short legs,
grow in a circular shape 0.2 0.6 mm long, and covered with small triangular spines (Arlian Vyszenski
Moher 1988). The ovigerous females can grow up to twice as large as males, and they burrow tunnels
in the host s stratum corneum to lay eggs. The mite has a direct life cycle that lasts from 10 13 days
(Arlian Vyszenski Moher 1988).
Demodectic mange is another persistent inflammatory parasitic skin disease among dogs. Two
subtypes of demodectic mange, squamous and pustular (Healey Gaafar 1977), are differentiated
according to the type of skin lesion seen. The parasites responsible, Demodex canis mites, are
commonly found in small numbers in the skin of healthy dogs. They are suspected to be transmitted
from carrier mothers to puppies shortly after birth (Unsworth 1946), but the otherwise the disease
shows no other mode of transmission. When the various species of the Demodex mites increase in
numbers exorbitantly, it becomes a skin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the mites prefer to live on areas of the skin with less hair, common initial sites of infection are the
ears, face, ventral trunk and limbs. In particular, commonly affected localised regions are the
periocular skin, the pinnal margins, the points of the elbows and the points of the hocks (Curtis 2012).
Small, itchy, red pustules often develop, which worsen into severe crusting on the skin when the dog
scratches them. The skin soon becomes reddened and a variety of secondary infections can develop
(Curtis 2012). If untreated, secondary bacterial and yeast infections of sarcoptic mange lesions may

A Study On The Chat Before The Heels Of Advocate General...
As I noted in our chat before the webinar began, coming on the heels of Advocate General Yves Bot s
opinion (such an accelerated timeline is unprecedented; a final decision usually issues 3 4 months after
the AG opinion) the news that the European Court of Justice plans to issue a final decision on October
6 raises the prospect of a swift one two punch to the Safe Harbor arrangement. The outcome could
throw the existing Safe Harbor framework into disarray and conceivably invalidate it. 2. A final
opinion invalidating the framework approved in the Commission s 2000 opinion would be seismic.

They are being pummeled by the Parliament to suspend Safe Harbor immediately. 5. Note: the specific
question referred by the Irish High Court is the authority of DPAs to investigate and suspend transfers
under Safe Harbor. If, as the AG did, the ECJ finds that DPAs have that authority to suspend without
limitation by the Commission, one can envision a tsunami of DPA actions to suspend data transfers or
complaints asking them to do so. 6. Along with these, DPAs and the Commission can expect a rush of
submissions of Binding Corporate Rules and Model Contract clauses as organizations that have relied
on Safe Harbor look for alternatives, though Omer Tene has suggested these too may be subject to
challenge on the rationale of an opinion like the AG s. Omer is a friend and Associate Professor at the

the Commission s 2000 decision is invalid would nullify the legal basis for data transfers under the
Safe Harbor framework unless the Court limits the scope or the effective date of such a ruling. The
impact would fall not only on the big Internet brand names that are often the objects of European
angst, but on a great many smaller EU enterprises that lack choices for where to store data. 8. The

Muslim Women Of Pakistan, By Tehmina Durrani s My Feudal...
A society that operates with male dominated ideologies and mechanisms contributes to the
disempowerment and subjugation of woman. This paper studies predicament of Muslim wives in
society of Pakistan through institution of marriage as depicted in Tehmina Durrani s My Feudal Lord,
an autobiographical narrative. The publication of My Feudal Lord received many awards and made it
exceptional and extraordinary literary work, which surfaces the issues of Muslim women of Pakistan,
and is still relevant as it contributes to the feminist cause. The book is a painful account of a woman s
traumatic marriage in Pakistan, who suffers in silence for thirteen years and then decides to come out
of the life of abuse and humiliation. It also highlights the hidden agency of a woman that has the
potential to expose and challenge a male dominated society. Durrani s courage, resistance and mighty
pen become agents for change. These agents, along with exposition of assumed authority of
debauchery and superiority of male culture assist her in dismantling established societal pattern of
marriage. The process of evolution encourages her to reflect on the woes of other women in Pakistani
society and the ways to counter violence, inequality and isolation in feudal trap. The paper
demonstrates concerns like inequality, violence and male dominance and argues that despite caught in
a patriarchal trap woman with her conviction and female agency finds a way to be heard and asserts

Character Analysis Of Bertha Mason In Jane Eyre
Jane Erye Essay Brief Character in Novel Bertha Mason, although a minor character in Charlotte
Bronte s Jane Eyre , played a crucial role in the love story between Jane and Rochester and gives a
deeper understanding of how mentally impaired people were treated at the time. She is necessary to
Jane and Rochester s imminent marriage and her actions lead the two to reconcile. Her motives and
the causes for behavior are unclear, besides her obvious jealousy towards Jane and betrayal she felt
from Rochester. Not only that, but Bertha also symbolizes everything Jane is not, mirroring her in a
way as a polar opposite. At the start of the novel the reader knows nothing about Bertha mason. She
does not make an appearance till Jane becomes aware of a strong smell of burning coming from
Rochester s room. Although she suspects Grace to have caused it, we find that Bertha set fire to his
room. Rochester simply tries to hide her existence because he wants nobody to know of her, but
cannot get rid of her. But that appears at this time it seems because Jane is troubled, a sort of doubling
image. Bertha is constantly seen as an obstacle standing in Jane and Rochester s way of happiness and
marriage. Her instability is illustrated in an extremely animalistic manner. Bertha threatens to drain
[Mason s] heart , similar to an evil being or vampire (ch.20). Again, Bertha is described as the polar
opposite of Jane, as someone who acts out against typical norms and does how she pleases. So

Concussions In The Nfl Research Paper
In September, all around the country, football fans are preparing for the tailgating, football parties and
eating, but none are looking forward to head injuries. As time goes on fans, officials, and players are
becoming aware of the elevated numbers of head injuries that happen every day in the NFL. Football
has been America s sport for almost 100 years, but the overall statistics and continuous arguments
involving concussion rates do not seem to agree. An increasing number of NFL players have shown
signs of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), indicating that the NFL s inconsistency in
enforcing regulations to prevent concussions is resulting in a significant risk to players long term
physical and psychological health issues.

and clubs have committed a $30 million research grant, $100 million investment for medical research
providing millions of dollars to additional grants, and funding for research projects on CTE (Fainaru

through its programs, it is still argued that they are being inconsistent with enforcing their own rules
within the game.
All in all, head injuries have been a major issue. For the past several years, the NFL has lead their
sport to long term effects of head injuries because of lack of reinforcement. Due to the rising rates and
percentages of the sport, many people are reconsidering if they should play or not. A large quantity of
the nation still enjoy the sport. That may change if nothing is done about the high concussion records.

Each person with active TB can spread the disease to 10 other Filipinos each year (Willie T. Ong,

Why Marijuana Should be Legalized Essay
According to archeologists, the cannabis plant was among the first crops purposely cultivated by
human beings at least 6,000 years ago and perhaps even more than 12,000 years ago. It is considered
by many to be one of the most resourceful crops on earth. It can be used for industrial, medical, and
recreational purposes. Rather than waging war on marijuana users, this resourceful crop should be

The cannabis sativa plant produces more protein, oil, and fiber than any other plant on earth. In fact, it
can be used to produce more than 5,000 textile products ranging from rope to paper. Aside from being

the pronunciation of words and new phrases, I ve learned that we have lived two very different lives
due to differences in our cultures. Kiwis (New Zealanders) consider sports to be crucial in their
country. Sports function in a very similar way in New Zealand as to the way they do here in America.
New Zealand is located in the South Western Pacific Ocean, just south of Australia. New Zealand has
been its country since the late 19th century. The country has governed itself since the year of 1853.
There are several different sports that America is not very familiar with. For example, in New

there are more similarities than one may realize. In netball, you have two nets just like in basketball.

contributes to differences in parental care (Bendesky Andres, Kwon mi Young 2016). As a young child
we obviously want to feel loved and protected especially when things aren t going our way, we need
that person to always rely on. Rascal Flatts ensures that no matter what path his daughter chooses he
will be there as her role model to lead the way her heart desires to go. This correlates to more of an

Service Line Management
Service Line Management Task 1 In order for a company to continue to grow and expand, it must
have a need for additional services and customer satisfaction. To focus on patient care, one must
engage in property development. There are multiple ways this can be accomplished. To begin, this
writer will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of building, buying, or leasing property to
establish a new orthopedic service line. First, the concept of building a Physical Therapy center should
be considered. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) stated in the email, the cost of construction is
$120 per square foot for 5,000 square feet. This would total $600,000 to build on hospital property.
The advantage to this would be that the hospital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this option is the most costly, other factors have to be considered. In comparison to building
the site, this option is $100,000 more, but saves space on campus. It can be sold if needed, whereas a
newly constructed property on campus could not. The hospital would have to find a use for the space.
In comparison to leasing the building, if the hospital needed to expand or get out of the lease, that
normally does not happen. A contract is normally signed with a lease and the signee is responsible to
uphold the contract. The hospital could be stuck in that situation. By purchasing this building, the
hospital could also be able to start the PT program sooner than expected. The hospital would not be
waiting on construction which could possibly take a long period of time. During the time the hospital
would be waiting for construction to complete, they can be earning revenue by purchasing the already
constructed building and lot. They would have an immediate revenue which could generate the capital
reserve the CFO needs to keep intact. A new service line could greatly improve the revenue of the
hospital. Buying and starting the program sooner is the best option for the needs of the facility. A PT
program by the hospital will also make patients happy. Happy patients means return customers. Return
customers means more revenue. Revenue is what causes a business to

Idiom In The Great Gatsby
The old saying, two steps forward, one step back originates from a Chinese anecdote, illustrating a
frog trying to climb out of a well. Every two steps the frog makes up the wall of the well, he falls back
another, essentially making the process exhausting and seemingly worthless. However, the frog
eventually reaches the top and recognizes that his hard work has paid off. The strenuous process this
idiom captures reflects the realities of the American Dream during the 1920s: a time where people
were encouraged to become successful regardless of their attributes. Although these beliefs promised
beauty and prosperity for all, its idealistic nature compelled individuals to fall short of these standards.

The Politics Of The Budgetary Process
Historically, incrementalism has characterized public budgeting because at its core, budgeting has
evolved: increased and decreased through gradual stages within the realm of the political arena. The
need for this one step at a time type of response, found within incremental budgeting, would have
likely been caused by the known fact that prior to the 1900 s public welfare programs, federal, states,
and even city spending did not exist in the way in which is more than obviously observable in today s
society simply because America did not employ an actual budgetary system. Therefore, as with any
unchartered territory, it was approached in stages, with caution, a little at a time in response to the
growing needs of the public. Aaron Wildavsky made this case in his book The politics of the
budgetary process, when he pointed out budgeting is incremental, not comprehensive. The beginning
of wisdom about an agency budget is that it is almost never actively reviewed as a whole every year in
the sense of reconsidering the value of all existing programs as compared to all alternatives. Instead, it
is based on last year s budget with special attention given to a narrow range of increases or decreases.
(Wildavsky 1964, p. 15)
Line item budgeting, which categorizes various expenses and places them in list format a document
for budgetary purposes, can be associated with incremental budgeting as means for budget making
because once that is done Statutory or administrative controls

Justice. He was elected as the Governor of California, and served three consecutive terms of office. In
his early years he was the District Attorney in California and also served as the Attorney General of
California. In his time as a District Attorney Warren earned himself a reputation for being tough on
crime, he soon gained a statewide reputation as a tough, no nonsense district attorney who fought
corruption in government. Chief Justice Earl Warren was appointed by president Dwight D.
Eisenhower in 1953 after Warren lost to Eisenhower and Richard Nixon in the election. Earl Warren
was a right wing republican but ended up being more liberal on the Supreme Court than anyone had
every expected. He presided over some very significant cases that will be discussed below. The three
that will be discussed, perhaps the most important, are Brown V. Board of Education in 1954, Gideon
V. Wainwright in 1963, and Miranda V. Arizona in 1966. Now don t be misled, Chief Justice Earl
Warren did a great deal in his career, and influenced very much, however, his most prominent cases
that affected criminal justice and the community are the focus of this essay. These three landmark
cases greatly affect the criminal justice community and the general public even today. Brown v. Board
of Education was a landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court that declared state laws

Katherine Hathaway Tuberculosis
Katharine Hathaway and Her Fight Against Spinal Tuberculosis The fight of not moving for twenty
four hours would be difficult. Katharine Hathaway fought her way through spinal tuberculosis for
twelve years in her beddoing absolutely nothing. Katharine Hathaway was born in Baltimore in 1890,
but spent most of her life in Salem, Massachusetts. Hathaway was diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis
in 1895 at the age of five (Lobb 31). Spinal tuberculosis, a destructive form of tuberculosis, it is most
common in children and young adults. When she was diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis, her room
became the center of the house (Garg). Katherine s family found a well known doctor to treat her. The
doctor said the only way to cure her disability was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A couple years after her death The Journals and Letters of the Little Locksmith had been published.
After her death, they rediscovered the disease and called it classic of early twentieth century disability
(Lobb 34). The Little Locksmith charts a memoir about Katharine s struggles to transcend physical
limitations and embrace her life, her body, and herself in the midst of debilitating bouts of frustration
and shame. That expands her world far beyond the boundaries. She grew a lot of confidence during
her life she said her life was transformed that just keeps getting better and better. Her story is a
frightful tragedy that was resigned into quite modest work of art. That s all Katharine ever was full of
art and love. No matter how much her disability slowed her down she just kept going and going.
Today The Little Locksmith is a critically acclaimed but largely forgotten literary classic brought back
in print for the first time in thirty years

My First Season Of Recreational Soccer
It all began back when I was three years old at my first season of recreational soccer. The YMCA was
where the love and passion for soccer started. I later moved to the big leagues of Big Sun recreational
soccer to me it was like the professional league. I met the best coach ever, Coach Judd Davis. He
inspired me to be the bomb.com player and introduced me to competitive soccer. So that next year I
played on a U12 team as a fourth grader. When I made this team it was at that moment my dream to
play professionally was born. I worked harder than anyone on my team and tried to soak up as much
knowledge about the game there was told to me. My parents helped me along the way by continuously
encouraging me throughout difficult times. So I thought I was ready to take on harder challenges.
After for playing on the Ocala Lightning for two years, in 2013, I went to try out for the Olympic
Development Program (O.D.P) or the Florida state team. I felt excited and ready to be beast at this try
out. The try out was near the Space Coast so it was a little bit of a drive. As we were driving I was
worried, nervous, and filled with the jitters like I am on ITBS days. Finally the moment came where I
had to face the try outs by myself because I knew absolutely no one there (except my parents). I went
to get my number so the Coaches could evaluate the players. I was so timid that weekend I spoke to
other players and coaches about five times, that s it. The try out was two days of hard work and I

An Influential And Rewarding Field
The nursing profession has evolved tremendously over the years. Although we often work as a part of
a health care team, as nurses, our role is so critical to the clients we serve that it cannot be replaced by
any other team member. We are constantly striving to expand our capabilities, either through formal
education or years of experience. We are fortunate enough to be part of an influential and rewarding
field that enables us to impact the lives of a diverse community on a physical, mental, and emotion
level. Nursing provides me with the ability to make a profound difference in the life of another human
being, their family, and friends. Nurses must not only use the knowledge base we obtained through
formal education, as we also must use our emotions and morals when caring for clients. Over the years
of working in mental health, I have learned to excel under pressure due to the understanding that one
minute may not be the same as the next. This has given me the tools needed to evaluate situations
under stress and make final decisions based on acuity. Effective communication is another strong
quality of mine. Not only is it important that I advocate for and communicate with clients through
both verbal and non verbal communication, but it is also an essential part of working well within the
multidisciplinary team. Being detail oriented and organized are also key components in my career. In
my current leadership role, I provide exceptional hands on patient care as well as

The Problem Of Inadequate Funds
As you are facing the situation of inadequate funds, are you looking for a provision from where you
can get assistance in monetary terms? Are you getting confused as to what option to choose? Without
thinking much, you can go for installment loans . By going with this monetary service, the borrower
can get hold of immediate cash support for small needs. The nature of this facility is short term. This
makes the rate of interest quite high. You should just take note of your want and state before you apply
for the desired sum. According to your settlement state and financial condition, you can obtain a sum
that falls in the range of £80 to £1500 that you have to pay back in the suitable repayment time
duration of 1 to 30 day. Once the installment loans comes to you, you can do anything and everything.
The borrower can pay the household and utility bills, can get small house repair jobs done, can send
the car to the garage, can pay the kid s school and tuition fees, can pay the medical bills, can pay
installments of the credit card, can throw a party and so on. Put into use the free of cost and no
obligation online application form for immediate loans , which would have been made available to
you on the website of the money lenders. From the comfort of your home or office, fill it with your
genuine personal details. As and when the process of application would be over, you would get an
approval easily. The money would get transferred into your bank account, within 24 hours.

Comparison Of The Squire And The Canterbury Tales
In the late 14th century that is represented in Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, the most
perceived element of a true gentleman was conceivably chivalry. This element is demonstrated in two
of the many characters in the story, the Knight and the Squire. The Knight and the Squire are father
and son who are both members of the aristocrat class; both ride honorably on their horses and have the
aura of a true gentleman, but despite their similarities, they are different. Though the Knight and the
Squire share the same profession and are both members of the same aristocratic class, they differ in
the fact that the Knight portrays the ideal society while the Squire displays the reality of society.
Although the Knight and the Squire both possess the same occupation, they exhibit disparate
approaches in relation to devotion. In regard of battles, it was the prime objective in the Knight s
description, whereas in the Squire s, was barely a significant component. All of the Squire s
involvement amidst the military is very shortly revealed saying that he had seen some service with the
calvary/ In Flanders and Artois and Picardy, (Chaucer 87 88) while the Knight s list of battles is the
focus in his description. The Knight traveled along the Mediterranean coast (Chaucer 61) to multiple
regions including Russia, North Africa, Anatolia, etc. and also fought in fifteen mortal battles
(Chaucer 63) and always killed his men (Chaucer 65) showing evidence of his devotion to

The Things They Carried, And Big Fish And The American Dream
Patrick Rothfuss, an American writer, once said, It s like everyone tells a story about themselves
inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves
out of that story. Rothfuss explains how storytelling is always a part of everyone. Stories are told in
different ways, and those stories shape the person tremendously. Many of the stories told today are
what shape the audience. In The Things they Carried , by Tim O Brien, and the film Big Fish , directed
by Tim Burton, stories are portrayed to be productive because the characters all have an American
Dream and their stories help the characters achieve tasks to get to their American Dream.
According to Why Americans are Obsessed with Telling their Stories , by Ozy Qi Wang, American
parents regard parent child bonding as the No.1 priority of personal storytelling: They encourage
children to share their stories, pay great attention to and are sympathetic with children s thoughts and
feelings, and create opportunities to re experience the past with children. Americans think it is key to
keep their children s dreams alive, they encourage them at a young age to express how they feel and
what they dream of for their future. Kids grow up used to the idea of sharing their stories and create
more meaningful connections with everyone they encounter. In Big Fish, Edward Bloom told his son
stories growing up to show him that anything is possible. Throughout the film, Ed Bloom got his

Essay On The Australian Industrial Relation System
The Australian industrial relations system has historically been highly influenced and regulated
through the process of arbitration and conciliation (Reference). In the early 20th century arbitration
and conciliation was determined through tribunals and industry based awards which determined wages
and employment conditions. Conciliation and arbitration was highly dependent on the influence and
power of trade union membership within the workplace. Since the early 1900 s the arbitration and
conciliation process has been replaced with an industrial relations system which has been consistent
with the decline of union membership to 28 percent of the workforce (reference) This has resulted in
more employees not being covered by a form of representation which then in turn has initiated ...

The consequences of this Act favoured a formal system of agreement making, with awards becoming
the minimum for conditions and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) becoming an
independent tribunal to regulate these conditions. While individual agreements were limited because
of the restraints of awards on common law contracts, enterprise bargaining gave businesses more
opportunity to expand rules and decisions in workplaces were unions were weak (Reference). The
legislation introduced instability of collectivism within the industrial relations system and provided
the opportunity for individualism to develop and therefore for an employee voice (Reference). For an
example, unfair dismissal under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act and the Industrial Relations Act
would have required an employee claiming unfair dismissal to be represented by a union. The
provisions under the 1993 legislation have given individual employees the opportunity to initiate an
unfair dismissal complaint without the representation of the

World War I And The Great War
Mass culture by definition refers to the set of ideals and values that develop from a common exposure
to the same media, news sources, music, and art (chegg). It conveys the idea that culture emerges
spontaneously from the masses themselves, like popular art did before the 20th century. However, post
WW1 American society had advancements in technology that aided certain ideals and values in
spreading across the nation. And the term media culture gives reference to the current western
capitalist society that emerged and developed from this 20th century time period under the influence
of mass media. World War I, or the Great War, was one of the bloodiest wars of all time. It was a war
sparked by militarism, alliance, imperialism, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As president, Wilson was an aggressive progressive and passed lots of protective legislation for his
citizens. With better working conditions and wages accompanied by better workdays, the middle class
was built up and social and economical gaps shrunk. His triple law of privilege, or Wilson s 3 points,
was a key piece of progressive legislation. He lowered the tariff, controlled banks with the Federal
Reserve act and created the F.E.D. to decide interest rates, and controlled big corporations with anti
trust laws. But after the end of the war Americans wanted a change and they received that with
republican senator from Ohio, Warren G. Harding. Harding campaigned on the slogan of a return to
normalcy . Under the Harding administration, normalcy meant a pro business government, anti tax,
and anti regulation (shmoop). A consumer culture was created. A newspaper reporter stated, The first
responsibility of an American to his country is no longer that of a citizen, but that of a consumer
(Understanding the American Promise). Old values were tossed and new mottos were to spend money
rather than save. Mass production fueled corporate profits and national economic prosperity
(Understanding the American Promise). A new culture was founded, a United States that focused on
itself. An American culture was conceived that had fun

Original Position Essay
From prep school to boot camp, from college boy to infantryman, twentieth century philosopher John
Rawls lived both a privileged and challenging life that eventually led him to questioning society s take
on justice. Educated at Princeton University for his undergraduate and graduate degrees, Rawls
became a philosophy professor teaching at Cornell University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
and Harvard University. His first book, A Theory of Justice, published in 1971 addressed the
relationship between the values of freedom and equality. Focusing on justice as fairness , Rawls states
that instead of competing against each other, freedom and equality can be balanced. Introducing the
concept of the Original Position Rawls argues that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research done by Nicholas Carnes and John Holbein from Duke University found that the U.S.
Government is far more responsive to affluent Americans than to low income or working class
citizens.
When politicians make policy decisions on a wide range of issues, the outcomes tend to line up
closely with the preferences of rich constituents, and meet the preferences of the poor only by chance.
One in three Black males will go to prison in their lifetime . That horrendous fact, isn t because black
men are more dangerous or more risk averse, it is because of the society we live in. In his article
White Racism, Black Crime, and American Justice, criminologist Robert Staples argues that the legal
system was made by white men to protect white interests and keep blacks down. Staples goes further
to say that the system was characterized by second rate legal help for black defendants, biased jurors,
and judges who discriminate in sentencing . These examples prove that social status and unearned
privileges prevent us from protecting freedom and promoting equality. If we didn t have such a gap
between races, social classes, gender, and other factors of identity, people would be more open to
helping each. Thereby, a concept like the Original Position is the only way justice could

Covered bonds were typically structured so as to receive a rating of AAA or AA from the major rating organizations (AAA denoted instruments of the highest quality). One important difference between covered bonds and MBS was that the set of mortgages securing the covered bond were dynamic; in contrast, mortgages comprising a MBS remained static once the security was issued. In the case of a covered bond, mortgages that experienced delinquencies were generally substituted out of the pool, with performing mortgages replacing them. Just as the individual mortgages in the cover pool were dynamic, the total size of the cover pool was dynamic as well. The amount of overcollateralization (i.e., the extent to which the size of the cover pool would exceed the face value of the covered bonds) would adjust dynamically depending on the financial health of the issuer. Look at all these stones to rest behind after a game of tag! I received some soft smiles, some little laughs. There is nothing heart breaking about this place. Or at least I thought. It only took one word to have my world come crashing down into pieces. Death. On September 19th, the day I was told, nothing seemed to have been different. The tears swelled in my eyes. Don t cry, don t cry. Everything is alright. Then came the burning in my throat, and my chest tightened. Almost as if I swallowed a stone and there are only limited breathes before I d find myself in a casket. A pounding had formed in my head, an ongoing bang as if I was a nail that was getting hammered into the wall. I was given a flower to put next to him in the casket. The same bright flowers at the graveyard. It is different; this is my grandfather. He cannot be gone, he isn t gone. I am not ready to let go just yet. I was still holding on to his hand so tightly. People gathered in the funeral home, and the constant pats on my back and saying how sorry they were was all that was said to me that night. I wanted to respond with Why are you sorry? like I would have as a child. Instead, I just nodded and lent a faint smile to each person. There were also a series of hugs for sympathy, but each hug made the burning grow and the tears want to spill more. No crying. Not yet. In my particular passage, Bryson talks about the bears on the Appalachian trail and he talks a lot about them to emphasize the deaths they have caused on the trail and how unpredictable they are, which is why he had doubts on walking the trail. His main purpose is to get the reader to gain an understanding about bears and where his fear of them derives from. Bill Bryson uses imagery, ethos, and rhetorical questions to express his feelings about bears while also informing the reader about bears. Bryson uses imagery that creates a tense, terrifying mood to illustrate the scene of a bear attacking your camp. Imagine, if you will, lying in the dark alone in a little tent, nothing but a few microns of trembling nylon between you and the chill night air, listening to a 400 pound bear moving around your campsite. Imagine it s quiet grunts and mysterious snufflings...the sounds of moist gnawings, the pad of its feet and the heaviness of its breath... • 8. Reconstruction Of African American During Reconstruction History helps shape the future and what we can learn from it to make sure that we do not repeat the same mistakes. During Reconstruction, the country was trying to make amends after the war was over. The country needed to find a way to mend a broken nation because it was divided. The main issue during reconstruction was the status of African Americans because they wanted their civil rights, but could not get that. The question that needs to be answered is: who did the most to aid the cause of African American during Reconstruction, and why? Many organizations and people helped African Americans, but the Freedman s Bureau did the most. They helped provide education for the freed African Americans. According to the Virginia Historical Society, they say, they used their authority over former confederate properties to provide buildings for schools. The Freedman s Bureau wanted to make sure that African Americans had a proper education because they were deprived of education while they were growing up. The Virginia Historical Society says, the Freedman s Bureau, missionary associations, and African Americans themselves funded the schools; many of the mostly white, female teachers came from the south with the missionary associations. The Bureau wanted this to be successful and with the help of the missionary associations and the African Americas to fund the schools, it would make it a reality. Drawing from the example of my job team at work, I noticed that my American team members do not really run their ideas through our team leader before taking actions. However, my Turkish boss does not like this as he comes from a culture where everything a subordinate does should be run through the boss for approval. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As permanent colour change is subjective, the detection of the end point is inconsistent, resulting in an imprecise experiment. However, systematic errors affected the experiment the most. The most significant systematic error was reading off the amount of potassium manganate (VII) used in the titration from the burette. Due to the deep purple colour of the solution, it was very difficult to read the increments. For both the initial and final burette readings, readings might have been taken off the top of the meniscus, causing an overestimation of potassium manganate (VII) needed and thus, the experimental mass of FeSO4 in one tablet was larger than the manufacturer s claim of 300mg in one tablet. Additionally, the dissolving method of the iron tablets was a major systematic error. Because we were just using a glass rod to crush and stir the iron tablets and because of the limited time spent on the procedure, the iron tablets may not have been completely dissolved in the water. Hence, there would be less Fe2+ ions in the iron solution and thus, less potassium manganate (VII) would be needed to reach the end point. Some Fe2+ ions might also have been lost on the filter paper or the beaker whilst transferring the solution, thus causing less potassium manganate to reach the end point and resulting in inaccurate measurements and calculations. In dogs, this non seasonal and highly contagious infection is caused by infestation with the mite Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis (Espinosa et al. 2017). These adult mites have four pairs of short legs, grow in a circular shape 0.2 0.6 mm long, and covered with small triangular spines (Arlian Vyszenski Moher 1988). Concussions In The Nfl Research Paper In September, all around the country, football fans are preparing for the tailgating, football parties and eating, but none are looking forward to head injuries. As time goes on fans, officials, and players are becoming aware of the elevated numbers of head injuries that happen every day in the NFL. Football has been America s sport for almost 100 years, but the overall statistics and continuous arguments involving concussion rates do not seem to agree. Despite the fact that the NFL is supporting research and advocating awareness through its programs, it is still argued that they are being inconsistent with enforcing their own rules within the game. All in all, head injuries have been a major issue. For the past several years, the NFL has lead their sport to long term effects of head injuries because of lack of reinforcement. Due to the rising rates and percentages of the sport, many people are reconsidering if they should play or not. A large quantity of the nation still enjoy the sport. Why Marijuana Should be Legalized Essay According to archeologists, the cannabis plant was among the first crops purposely cultivated by human beings at least 6,000 years ago and perhaps even more than 12,000 years ago. The hospital would have to find a use for the space. In comparison to leasing the building, if the hospital needed to expand or get out of the lease, that normally does not happen. A contract is normally signed with a lease and the signee is responsible to uphold the contract. The hospital could be stuck in that situation. By purchasing this building, the hospital could also be able to start the PT program sooner than expected. • 40. The Politics Of The Budgetary Process Historically, incrementalism has characterized public budgeting because at its core, budgeting has evolved: increased and decreased through gradual stages within the realm of the political arena. The need for this one step at a time type of response, found within incremental budgeting, would have likely been caused by the known fact that prior to the 1900 s public welfare programs, federal, states, and even city spending did not exist in the way in which is more than obviously observable in today s society simply because America did not employ an actual budgetary system. Therefore, as with any unchartered territory, it was approached in stages, with caution, a little at a time in response to the growing needs of the public. Aaron Wildavsky made this case in his book The politics of the budgetary process, when he pointed out budgeting is incremental, not comprehensive. The beginning of wisdom about an agency budget is that it is almost never actively reviewed as a whole every year in the sense of reconsidering the value of all existing programs as compared to all alternatives. Instead, it is based on last year s budget with special attention given to a narrow range of increases or decreases. (Wildavsky 1964, p. 15) Line item budgeting, which categorizes various expenses and places them in list format a document for budgetary purposes, can be associated with incremental budgeting as means for budget making because once that is done Statutory or administrative controls ... Comparison Of The Squire And The Canterbury Tales In the late 14th century that is represented in Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, the most perceived element of a true gentleman was conceivably chivalry. This element is demonstrated in two of the many characters in the story, the Knight and the Squire. The Knight and the Squire are father and son who are both members of the aristocrat class; both ride honorably on their horses and have the aura of a true gentleman, but despite their similarities, they are different. Though the Knight and the Squire share the same profession and are both members of the same aristocratic class, they differ in the fact that the Knight portrays the ideal society while the Squire displays the reality of society. Although the Knight and the Squire both possess the same occupation, they exhibit disparate approaches in relation to devotion. • 47. The Things They Carried, And Big Fish And The American Dream Patrick Rothfuss, an American writer, once said, It s like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story. Rothfuss explains how storytelling is always a part of everyone. Stories are told in different ways, and those stories shape the person tremendously. Many of the stories told today are what shape the audience. In The Things they Carried , by Tim O Brien, and the film Big Fish , directed by Tim Burton, stories are portrayed to be productive because the characters all have an American Dream and their stories help the characters achieve tasks to get to their American Dream. According to Why Americans are Obsessed with Telling their Stories , by Ozy Qi Wang, American parents regard parent child bonding as the No.1 priority of personal storytelling: They encourage children to share their stories, pay great attention to and are sympathetic with children s thoughts and feelings, and create opportunities to re experience the past with children. Americans think it is key to keep their children s dreams alive, they encourage them at a young age to express how they feel and what they dream of for their future. Kids grow up used to the idea of sharing their stories and create more meaningful connections with everyone they encounter. In Big Fish, Edward Bloom told his son stories growing up to show him that anything is possible. Throughout the film, Ed Bloom got his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Essay On The Australian Industrial Relation System The Australian industrial relations system has historically been highly influenced and regulated through the process of arbitration and conciliation (Reference). In the early 20th century arbitration and conciliation was determined through tribunals and industry based awards which determined wages and employment conditions. Conciliation and arbitration was highly dependent on the influence and power of trade union membership within the workplace. Since the early 1900 s the arbitration and conciliation process has been replaced with an industrial relations system which has been consistent with the decline of union membership to 28 percent of the workforce (reference) This has resulted in more employees not being covered by a form of representation which then in turn has initiated ... The consequences of this Act favoured a formal system of agreement making, with awards becoming the minimum for conditions and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) becoming an independent tribunal to regulate these conditions. While individual agreements were limited because of the restraints of awards on common law contracts, enterprise bargaining gave businesses more opportunity to expand rules and decisions in workplaces were unions were weak (Reference). The legislation introduced instability of collectivism within the industrial relations system and provided the opportunity for individualism to develop and therefore for an employee voice (Reference). For an example, unfair dismissal under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act and the Industrial Relations Act would have required an employee claiming unfair dismissal to be represented by a union. The provisions under the 1993 legislation have given individual employees the opportunity to initiate an unfair dismissal complaint without the representation of the ... • 49. World War I And The Great War Mass culture by definition refers to the set of ideals and values that develop from a common exposure to the same media, news sources, music, and art (chegg). It conveys the idea that culture emerges spontaneously from the masses themselves, like popular art did before the 20th century. However, post WW1 American society had advancements in technology that aided certain ideals and values in spreading across the nation. And the term media culture gives reference to the current western capitalist society that emerged and developed from this 20th century time period under the influence of mass media. World War I, or the Great War, was one of the bloodiest wars of all time. It was a war sparked by militarism, alliance, imperialism, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As president, Wilson was an aggressive progressive and passed lots of protective legislation for his citizens. With better working conditions and wages accompanied by better workdays, the middle class was built up and social and economical gaps shrunk. His triple law of privilege, or Wilson s 3 points, was a key piece of progressive legislation. He lowered the tariff, controlled banks with the Federal Reserve act and created the F.E.D. to decide interest rates, and controlled big corporations with anti trust laws. But after the end of the war Americans wanted a change and they received that with republican senator from Ohio, Warren G. Harding. Harding campaigned on the slogan of a return to normalcy . Under the Harding administration, normalcy meant a pro business government, anti tax, and anti regulation (shmoop). A consumer culture was created. A newspaper reporter stated, The first responsibility of an American to his country is no longer that of a citizen, but that of a consumer (Understanding the American Promise). Old values were tossed and new mottos were to spend money rather than save. Mass production fueled corporate profits and national economic prosperity (Understanding the American Promise). A new culture was founded, a United States that focused on itself. An American culture was conceived that had fun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Original Position Essay From prep school to boot camp, from college boy to infantryman, twentieth century philosopher John Rawls lived both a privileged and challenging life that eventually led him to questioning society s take on justice. Educated at Princeton University for his undergraduate and graduate degrees, Rawls became a philosophy professor teaching at Cornell University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard University. His first book, A Theory of Justice, published in 1971 addressed the relationship between the values of freedom and equality. Focusing on justice as fairness , Rawls states that instead of competing against each other, freedom and equality can be balanced. Introducing the concept of the Original Position Rawls argues that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research done by Nicholas Carnes and John Holbein from Duke University found that the U.S. Government is far more responsive to affluent Americans than to low income or working class citizens. When politicians make policy decisions on a wide range of issues, the outcomes tend to line up closely with the preferences of rich constituents, and meet the preferences of the poor only by chance. One in three Black males will go to prison in their lifetime . That horrendous fact, isn t because black men are more dangerous or more risk averse, it is because of the society we live in. In his article White Racism, Black Crime, and American Justice, criminologist Robert Staples argues that the legal system was made by white men to protect white interests and keep blacks down. Staples goes further to say that the system was characterized by second rate legal help for black defendants, biased jurors, and judges who discriminate in sentencing . These examples prove that social status and unearned privileges prevent us from protecting freedom and promoting equality. If we didn t have such a gap between races, social classes, gender, and other factors of identity, people would be more open to helping each. Thereby, a concept like the Original Position is the only way justice could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
