I have researched images of bands and I have analysed them for my media coursework.

1. Rammstein
Rammstein is a metal band (industrial metal) we can easily deduce this from the image as
the use of low key lighting is used here effectively. This creates a gloomy mood which we
usually associate with heavy music. All the six members are also dressed black, one member
wears a leather jacket, and this kind of clothing is related with heavy music. In addition all
the members look grim therefore this has an impact on the audience as this suits their style,
and we can expect what kind of music they make by deucing it from the picture. Lastly, the
image is informally balanced as it is not symmetrical, we can see the difference in the
background.
2. Scooter
Scooter makes electronic dance music. The use of high key lighting makes the image look
livelier and therefore fits with the bands style and genre. Also, the iconic sunglasses
correspond with a type of electrical genre. In addition, the formal balance of this picture

reflects their electronic genre. Furthermore, we can see that this is a dance music from the
way the artist are clothed and their expressions, they don’t fit a metal genre as the main
artist is well lit up and his hair colour is parallel to their music.
3. Bastille
Bastille makes indie pop music. The use of high key lighting makes this image look friendly
and therefore is associated with pop. We can see how the main artist differs from the other
members, by wearing a scarf and a beige coat. In addition, we can see from their expression
that they are inviting and friendly; unlike metal bands. This image is formally balanced as it
is symmetrical and therefore it helps us to deduce that their style of music is pop and
probably very comformit and unchallenging.
4. Blondie
Blondie are a rock band.In thisimage there isbothcombinationof low andhighlighting
