artist evaluation of all of the artist i researched

1. EXO
The picture is in black and white which creates an
old appearance towards it. The genre of this band is
K-POP (Korean pop) which is connoted by the
different ethnicity faces. The picture uses most
direct mode of address but there are some
members who use indirect mode of address which
creates a less formal outcome. The informal balance
of the positioned members creates a chaotic
atmosphere which produces a childlike outcome.
Fall Out Boy
The band uses indirect mode of address as they are
all looking at the lead singer, about to throw a
music disc into bonfire. The lighting of the picture
shows that is during the night with the members
wearing black clothing. This connotes the genre of
pop punk. The informal balance of the picture
reveals the back ground which influences the genre
of the album the band is in a location where there
is snow and deserted houses and fires in a barrel.
Bruno Mars.
The album picture incorporates text to inform the audience
the name and artist of the album. The technique of “the rule
of thirds” is used as the artists face dominates 2/3 of the
picture. This makes the attention directed all towards the
artist. The artist uses formal mode of address as he looks at
the camera, however from an angle. The artist doesn’t look at
the camera face to face but looks at it at an angle. This is to
create a less formal outcome but also attracts the audience’s
attention. This is informal balance as there is no symmetry in
the picture and uses the rule of thirds to reveal the
background of the image. The minimum colour of the album
and the clothes that the artist is wearing suggests that he is a
pop artist.
Skrillex
This image of the artist “skrillex” indicates a scary and
dangerous type of person therefore his music would sound
quite scary and loud. There is direct mode of address as he is
looking straight at the camera therefore he seems to look like
he is looking straight at the audience when they get the CD.
There would have been a line of symmetry in the picture,
however this is not the case as he has one side of his hair
shaved off, which makes him appear unapproachable and
frightening. This connotes a genre of imperfect music and a
remix or dubstep type of sound.
