Siddhartha Guatama, who would later become the Buddha, was born into a life of luxury as the son of a king. However, just before his birth his mother dreamed an omen that suggested he would either become a great teacher or a powerful king. As a young man, Siddhartha grew curious about life outside the palace and witnessed suffering in the world. This led him to abandon his life of luxury and undertake a spiritual quest for enlightenment. After years of practice and meditation, Siddhartha achieved enlightenment and nirvana, becoming the Buddha.
