Where Did Amelia Earhart Go
Ever since her attempt to fly around the world, people have been dazzled by the mysterious
question still hanging in the air: Where did Amelia Earhart go?
Here s a little background information, in case you ve never heard of the world famous Amelia
Earhart. Amelia Earhart was one of the first woman pilots to surf the air. She was also the first
female pilot to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. While she was attempting to be the first female to fly
around the world, she mysteriously disappeared into thin air.
Recently, a theory has dropped down from the clouds saying that she didn t actually die from a
plane crash but instead as a castaway from a remote island. Evidence? An organization called The

The Cause And Effects Of The Bystander Effects
When there is an emergency, why is taking out our phones to take a picture or video the very
first thing we want to do? Why do we casually walk by a person who is in trouble, and go about
our business as if we did not anyone? Why do we not help or act when someone is getting, but
instead we just stand in a crowd and watch? Why do we bury our moral instincts during
emergencies? We witness a problem, consider positive action, and respond by doing nothing. Why
do we not help in these situations and put our moral instincts in shackles (Keltner Marsh, 2017).
We as people are bystanders to the world around us daily, but the question is why? The answer to
all the why questions is the bystander effect.
The bystander effect is a social psychological scenario where a person who is in an urgent
situation is not given any help by the people around due to the discourage from the presence of
others (whatispsychology.biz, 2017). Social psychologists, John Darley and Bibb Latane,
introduced the bystander effect in the 1960s after the murder of Kitty Genovese, a young woman
who was stabbed to death outside her home in New York City. It took her attacker more than half
an hour to kill her, and during that time, thirty eight people saw her being murdered, and they did
nothing to help her. The responsibility for helping was diffused among the observers (Darley
Latane, 1968).
Psychologists state diffusion of responsibility is one of the main blames for the bystander effect

1. The most significant challenge to business success you see in this rapidly changing global
economy; One significant challenge to business success in this rapidly changing global economy
is that many business are focused on efficiency and economic of scales. Just like the example
provided by Michael H. Hugo on Chapter 1, many companies are focused on lowering operating
cost as much as possible. This is causing for executives not leave any room for unpredicted changes
limiting the company s ability to respond to customer s changing needs. 2. An organization that has
been successful in the global marketplace using virtual teams and the best practices it used (as

While this is a practice enforced throughout the company, it was necessary to make sure that this
communications were clear to the virtual team in order to maintain morale and the team s trust in
the company. 3. How the Marketplace simulation incorporates these challenges into simulation
game play; The Marketplace simulation incorporates these challenges by providing student with
real world business problems and roles. Team members are challenged to make decisions and used
critical thinking in order to solve this problems virtually. While The Marketplace gives the team the
tolls necessary to have effective communication, ultimately each team members contributes to the
overall success of the team, just like in a real business situation. 4. How your readings and
individual self assessment work provide potential solutions to these challenges. The unit s readings
have provided many solutions to the challenges businesses encounter nowadays. To this day, there
are many companies that have business plans that concentrate strictly in lowering operating cost,
cut budgets as much as possible and overwork workers that already are overworked. Some of this
solutions include: * Thinking of the costumer s needs and being able to respond to their ever
changing needs * Management needs to be transparent and make sure to communicate with
employees, especially when the organizations is making

Why Little Recognition Can Affect The Profit Of The...
4.3.Primary Study Analysis
The methods of analysis are based on Kvale, Brinkmann, and Plas s (1996) theory. There are five
principal approaches of analysis, including condensation, categorisation, and narrative,
interpretation, and ad hoc. The reviewing method for each question is going to be selected in line
with the objectives of the questions.
4.3.1.Brand Awareness
Among the ten interviewees (see Table 4 1), merely one person can recall her memory of a
Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 s sponsor, Taiyen Culture Creative. The other nine people have the
difficulty in recollecting the memory of the sponsors. Therefore, they require the assistance of
the researcher to remind them of the brand names of the sponsors. The issue of little recognition
can affect the profit of the sponsors and the brand image enhancement negatively based on the
theory of Aaker (1991). Furthermore, based on Aaker s (1991) theory, the reason of the
unawareness of Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 sponsors might be the failure of letting the public
realise the brands products and services. The occasion of unfamiliarity and unrecognition
happened to almost every interviewees except Interviewee J because of her extended work
experience and higher economic situation (see Table 4 2). Based on the awareness pyramid
(Aaker, 1991), in the result of interview, ten people can recognise the brand name of BMW without
difficulty, and knowing their products and services clearly (See Table 4 2). Among the other four

What To Do Without Tilford s Pet Shoppe
When Napoleon announced to the farm that they would begin to trade with neighboring farms to
get additional materials, some animals originally were skeptical to if it was allowed in the
commandments. However, before anyone could speak up, the sheep silenced them with their
chant of Four legs good, two legs bad! (Orwell 65). In Tilford s pet shoppe [SIC], after the animals
all escape from their cages many animals ask the question of what to do without Tilford. The fish
fuel this question even more by asking Berkeley if it were true that it would then be their shoppe.
Both animals were followers of the current leaders, Napoleon and Berkeley. They further each
revolution for freedom in unique ways. The sheep prevented Napoleon from being questioned...

In literature, they often stand on the sidelines while other characters are making bad decisions.
Orwell writes about a donkey named Benjamin, who has lived on the farm longer than any of the
other animals. He is one of the few characters who can remember the past and think into the
future, making him very wise. While the others animals were excited by the idea of a windmill
to improve their lives and lessen the workload, Benjamin believed that life would go on as it had
always gone on that is, badly (Orwell 52). This shows that his cynical nature kept him from
being optimistic about the plans. Similarly, Johnson uses a tortoise to portray the cynical
characteristics in the pet shoppe. Tortoise is different from the other animals, as he is the only
one who ever escaped the shoppe to be in the outside world. Because of his previous escape, he is
more stoic and keeps to himself. This shows when he was outside of the shoppe, he saw that
being free was actuallyHe didn t want to be released and even snapped at Monkey s fingers when
he tried to open his cage (Johnson 119), which shows his desire to not be a part of the outside

Startup Expenses And Software Development
Startup Expenses
Startup expenses are defined as money that businesses spend before they even open their doors.
They are the expenses that are incurred before the business is running. In the case of GameGo, our
highest startup expenses will come from software development, advertising, and licensing fees.
Software Development Expense
The most important factor in the launch of GameGo is the software development. Bernard
Kohan, a mobile app and web application development and technology analyst expert, wrote the
cost of software development depends on the type class of company. GameGo is classified as a
Moderate Class Custom Development Company because we are developing a web application and

Specifically, we will focus on advertising through video game conventions and social media outlets
such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
From the article How Much Does Facebook Advertise Cost? by Marc Prosser published on July 13,
2013 it states that,
With Facebook, you get to choose what you want to pay for advertising. You will never pay
more than the maximum amount that you bid to have your ad appear or be clicked on. However,
the bidding process is competitive. If you bid too low, your ad will never be seen.
On average, companies spend about $24.00 daily per site to advertising through Facebook,
Instagram, and Twitter, which will let their ad be shown about 36,000 times a day (Prosser,
2013). To make sure our ad is seen efficiently throughout the day, we have set a daily budget of
$27.00 per site equaling $29,565 per year. Having heavy and concise advertising has proven to be
effective for companies when done right.
Another way that we wanted to advertise was by going to video game conventions and getting
our product in the market. The average cost of having a 20X20 square foot booth would be
$50,000 (Cost of Trade Show, 2014). We would have to have a budget of $70,000 for the trade
show to make sure that we have enough for the booth and room and board for the team.
Our objective to this is spreading awareness of the services we

Comparing Big Two-Hearted River And Mary Oliver s The Wild...
Sometimes the world offers solace to whatever miseries life has given you; sometimes with the
knowledge that you re alone, sometimes with the knowledge that you re not. Often, people find
their way outside, submerging themselves in the wild, cultivated or not, in order to seek out that
offered comfort. Nick does in Earnest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River. He finds comfort in the
ability to just go through the motions, like how Mary Oliver s The Wild Geese offers nature s
unconditional acceptance. Big Two Hearted River finds Nick in a place of depression, it seems,
one where he has no choice but to go through the motions, focus one task at a time, and drift
through his life. He goes place to place, task to task, focusing solely on

The Balance Of Power Theory
Balance of power theory represents a body of interrelated concepts for achieving security and
stability by maintaining an equal distribution of power throughout the international system. Some
critics contend that the theory cannot provide guidance to states in a unipolar system since it
developed out of centuries of multipolarity and decades of bipolarity. This assessment is
incorrect. Although a specific conception of balance of power theory may not provide guidance,
an appraisal of the concepts within its various forms suggests continuing relevance. This paper
discusses balance of power theory by examining the evolution of its structural and ideational
variants, and asserts that the concept remains relevant in a unipolar international system. The
balance of power is a historical concept with a variety of meanings. In Thucydides account of the
Melian dialogue, he indirectly refers to countries balancing in response to growing Athenian
power and aggression (Thucydides, 1972). Over 1200 years later, Hobbes described balancing in
reference to the ability of a confederacy of the weak to overwhelm the strong (Hobbes, 1996).
Both Thucydides and Hobbes reference a type of balancing aimed at reestablishing an equilibrium
of power within the international system. Gulick refers to this behavior by states as a doctrine of
counterpoise, designed to ensure the survival of individual states and to prevent a state from
accruing predominant power (Gulick, 1955). During the 19th

An Integration Center Of The Reflex Arc
An integration center in the reflex arc is a neuropathway that creates a reflex action to activating
neurons to skip the spinal cord and protect your brain. The nerve cells can be categorized by their
connections, structure, and neurotransmitters. The structural classification is depending on shape
and size of the cell body, its dendritic tree, axonlength, and the nature of the connections it makes.
The neurons with one, two, or more than two neurites, are unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar
respectively. Most of neurons in vertebrate nervous systems are multipolar, but there are
significant exceptions. For illustration, bipolar neurons in the retina synapse with sensory
neurons, and photoreceptors in the dorsal root ganglion are explained as pseudo unipolar as they
begin life as bipolar cells but their two neurites fuse. The unipolar neurons dominate in
invertebrates. Collaterals a small side branch, as of a blood vessel or nerve. A neuronal pool is a
group of interconnected neurons with specific functions. A pool may be diffuse, involving neurons
in several regions of the brain, or localized, with neurons restricted to one specific location in the
brain or spinal cord. However, the proper function of the circuit of the stretch reflex also relies on
convergence and divergence. A single sensory has multiple branches that diverge and make synaptic
connections with many individual motor neurons. Therefore, when the muscle contracts as a result
of the neurologist s tapper, it

The Description Of Yahweh From Exodus 34 Essay
The description of Yahweh found in Exodus 34:5 7 is a significant and influential passage from the
Old Testament text which is foundational for biblical theology, since it provides the most complete
description of both the name and the nature of God found anywhere within the scriptural canon. Its
significance can is noted by the fact that this passage is quoted and referred back to at least eleven
times throughout the Old Testament including in the books of Jeremiah, Joel, Numbers, Nehemiah,
Lamentations, Daniel, and 1 Kings.. In order to fully understand the meaning and purpose of this
passage, several other passages must be considered which serve both as anticipatory texts and texts
which provide contextual meaning. One such text is found in the thirty third chapter of Exodus.
The passage from Exodus 34 is especially significant as many characteristics of Yahwehare revealed
to Mosesby Yahweh Himself. Another important aspect of this passage is its poeticism and the fact
that it reveals the innate characteristics of Godin such a way that demonstrates literary beauty and
rhythm. Many phrases and expressions in this passage are presented in pairs. This is augmented
by the fact that this passage, in the broadest sense, serves to emphasize the two aspects of God
which are most basic. These two aspects are His love and His justice. The purpose of this paper
is to examine and analyze this passage in Exodus 34, as well as several contextual texts, in order to
attempt to grasp

Berlin Airlift Essay
During the span of the Berlin Airlift, 394,509 tons of supplies were given to the Berlin people
from the United States, Royal Air Force, and British Civil. The Berlin Airlift s main priority was
to assist the people in Berlin with supplies such as food, clothing, medical supplies, and much
more, because the Soviets blockaded West Berlin and deprived Berlin citizens of resources in an
attempt to run the other allied powers out of the city. Thousands of individuals were helped during
the Berlin Airlift, which lasted a little over a year. The three main causes of the Berlin Airlift was
post World War ll, Germany split up into 4 zones, the Soviet Blockade, and the Cold War
.
When World War ll ended and the Allied powers came out victorious against Germany, the Allies
had to decide what to do with the country. The allies withheld their decisions at the Yalta and
Postdam conferences, and determined that they would split Germany up into four zones between
the United States, Soviet Union, France, and Britain. Because of Germany splitting up into four

In the Library of Congress write up, it says The distinct differences in the political systems of the

was more militarily advanced. There were major differences that did not comply with one another to

The Good, the Bad and the Perverse
What is natural and unnatural can both be considered good and bad. Something like a disease is
natural yet it is bad. Antibiotics are not natural, but they are good. Just because something is
natural, it cannot be considered good . Something that is deemed unnatural can only be
considered in some situations. That is when normal or perverse come into play, when something
can t exactly be named unnatural. The concept may be questioned because the answer for what
is measured normal is unclear. (Trevas, pg. 229) Something being perverse doesn t have to
mean it is bad; it is immoral or moral in different situations. The actual meaning of perversion is
an alteration or corruption of an original cause, meaning or state. A perversion takes something
from being originally good, to then being bad. Good or bad, a perversion has no connection to
morality. A type of perversion is a sexual perversion. Different religions, a persons attitude towards
things; may probably have different ideas on perversion. Any action that brings sexual pleasure,
but has little or no chance in resulting in conception is considered perverse. (Trevas, pg. 230)
Under that statement, a lot of things may then be viewed as perverse. Masturbation, same sex
sexual relations, and the use of contraceptives, all things that can be argued to be natural; can still
be considered perverse under that definition. Sexual perversion can also include sex with animals,
tangible objects, and plants fall into that category.

The female s parents are very particular when choosing who their daughter is going to marry. They

Opening new production sites or distribution centers closer to dispersed customers is one way to
reduce the lead time and transportation costs. However, the acquisition of such facilities in the oil
and petrochemical industries, if feasible, is typically very costly and often results in higher
inventory and operating costs (Hebert, 2004). Red Cavaney, president of the American Petroleum
Institute, said Most companies are unlikely to undertake the significant investment needed to even
begin the process (Hebert, 2004) These factors are pushing oil and petrochemicals companies to
either absorb the increase in costs or pass the costs on to customers who are already facing
increasing prices. Companies therefore have recognized that improved supply chain efficiencies
represent a huge area for cost savings, specifically in the logistics area; they are estimated to be an
average between 10 and 20 percent of revenues (Hamilton, 2003). Also, companies believe that the
supply chain in which they participate as customers and suppliers is what creates competition rather
than individual companies (Whitfield, 2004; Lange, 2004; Morton, 2003; Bianchi, 2003; Collins,
1999; Coia, 1999). Despite the importance of the petroleum industry in our daily life and the
operational challenges it involves, unfortunately the topic has received very little attention in

Abortion And The Social Aspects Of Abortion
INTRODUCTION
It is estimated almost half of pregnancies in Australia are unplanned . Unexpected pregnancies
happen for various individual, social, economic and political reasons . The World Health
Organisation (WHO) approximates one in three women in Australia will have an abortion
procedure in their life . Abortion data is only gathered by South Australia, Western Australia and
the Northern Territory. However, South Australia is the only state to publish data and report
findings annually. Abortion is a heavy topic which has the nation spilt into two groups; pro life
or pro choice. Pro life is in favour of the foetus and they believe that by killing the foetus it is
equivalent to murder. Pro choice is for abortion, as they believe that the woman has the choice to
do what she wants with her body. This report will cover how religion deals with abortion and how
it can clash with modern ethnicity, abortion safety, the repercussions of abortion and the social
aspects of abortion.
RELIGION VS ETHNICITY
Religious communities have had a convoluted history in regards to abortion. The Catholic Church
of Australia states the direct and voluntary killing of an unborn is gravely immoral. No reason,
however serious or tragic, can ever justify the deliberate killing of an innocent human being .
Abortion is not explicitly forbidden within the Bible; as neither the Old nor New Testament
condemns it. As a social norm, however, Catholic s believe that life starts at conception via

In Shakespeare s play Richard III he presents the story of the Duke of Gloucester, Richard, and
his continuous killing spree to become the king thus taking the spot of Edward III, which
currently holds the crown. This included the killing of all the royal male blood necessary for
Richard to take the crown. Right at the start of the play Shakespeare doesn t hide Richard s evil
scheme in anyway, but rather lays out the premise for the whole play through the mouth of
Richard himself. RICHARD. And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover To entertain these fair

Sustainable Improvements Of The Uk
Sustainable Improvements
The UK has thousands of beautiful period properties that were constructed from brick and timber
with minimal insulation, and as a result produce high carbon emissions. As a government
department will occupy the property it should serve as an example to the public of how such
wonderful period properties can be made sustainable without impacting their historical and visual
appearances. In order to make this property more energy efficient, sustainable and in accordance
with government legislation, a number of improvements can be made.
Since the property is located in the Fleet Street Conservation Area in the City of London, the
following improvements may require planning permission:
a)Hybrid solar panels by Naked Energy where both photovoltaic and thermal energy outputs are
combined. The benefit is reduced installation time and cost while maximizing the usable
installation area . This would also include replacing the whole heating and water system. To ensure
planning permission is approved the solar panels should not be easily visible from the street.
b)Windows should be replaced with double glazed windows which resemble the existing windows
A number of additional energy saving improvements can be made that do not require planning
permission:
a)External wall insulation is not possible due to the property being in a conservation area,
however insulation can be achieved internally on walls and floors, i.e. by using aerogel and by

Music Is All Around Us
Music is all around us. At the start of the 21st century, technology in industrialised societies
provides us with easy access to a vast amount of recorded music. We can listen to our favourite
music at home, in the car, on the train; on home stereos, personal stereos, and through our
computers. We are also often surrounded by musicwhich we have not chosen, at the shops, waiting
for a train, even at the doctor s.
Research is beginning to show how music has the power to change the way we feel, think, and
behave. We know that music can lift our mood, and certain kinds of music can temporarily boost
specific kinds of intelligence. Listening to our favourite music can even help us tolerate high levels
of pain.
What do we know about how young children engage with music? There has been quite a lot of
research looking at the very early years. We know that babies can remember music from even
before birth. My own study with the Child of Our Time group in 2001 showed that exposure to a
particular piece of music before birth had long lasting effects, as the babies seemed to prefer
listening to that music up to 15 months after birth. Other studies have explored the features of
maternal singing, showing how this can make the baby feel calm.
There are also studies of babies responses to music in the lab that show them to be really very
sophisticated listeners. In their first year, babies can notice all kinds of small differences in musical
sequences, and are even better than

Speech About Corruption In The Philippines
Opening Sentences: Corruption has always been one of the major problems of the world
especially in politics. It has caused political fights, undermines democracy and good governance by
flouting or even subverting formal processes for each other or just put in every penny in their
pocket from their own countrymen without them even knowing it. In order to stop these incidents
the people should be more educated in the world of politics so that they can be aware and stop the

If we want to stop corruption in the Philippines, we should stop all corruptions that are happening

are just simply our fellow countrymen. To the Filipinos these are the values that should be made
real. Like stopping the spread of corruption in the government. The government cannot work
without the people and vice versa it is a relationship that should work both ways and the two parties
meeting halfway or reaching in a understanding because it would be impossible to stop corruption

Emily Dickson
Almost unknown as a poet in her lifetime, Emily Dickinson is now considered as one of the most
mysterious and original American poet of 19th century for her innovation in rhythmic meters and
creative use of metaphors. Her poems were rarely published in Russia because most of them had
religious content (to express religious feelings was restricted in Russia for almost a century).
However, some poems that I read impressed me at the first glance. Dickinson s poems spoke
powerfully to me about meaningful events in living. Many impressions that she compressed into
only few words helped me to understand my own experience through her emotional clarity. It was

Emily Dickinson was almost unknown during her lifetime because she refused publish her poems
and only seven of them were published anonymously during her lifetime. After Dickinson s death
her sister Livinia found nearly two thousand of drafts wrote in pencil on scraps of paper, grocery

many were unfinished. Emily did not prepare her poems for publishing, but wrote for her own
purposes. She was sensitive for any kind of attention and by copying poems into personal

Emily Dickinson died on 15 May 1886, at the age of fifty six. She was buried in one of the white

Summary Of Righteousness By Piper
Piper argues that Wright and other New Perspectivists are misunderstanding the nature of
humanity. Just as there are innumerable variations between Christian denominations of today,
Piper reasons, even if many Jews did not have a works based understanding of salvation, some
certainly did. Paul could be addressing this particular subset of Jews within Romans and
Galatians. To Piper, Paul s letters could be toward those legalistic Jews who view the Law as that
which does not literally save, but which creates spiritual superiority and in some ways, earns a
degree of favor before God. Piper views this kind of works righteousness as warped and unbiblical,
citing likened issues as the purpose for Paul s composition of Romans and Galatians. For this
reason, Piper and other Reformers argue that Wright is mistaken in his understanding of Paul s
opponents within these books. Piper writes that God s righteousness is... Show more content on

This is a matter of controversy between Wright and Piper. Piper writes that no single action, such
as keeping the covenant, is the essence of God s righteousness, because all His acts are done in
righteousness. In the same way, Piper argues, the essence of human righteousness is faithfulness
to uphold the glory of God in all that we do. The issue, however, as Piper describes, is that
humans fall short of this glory, and thus, no one is righteous. Piper would cite biblical references
such as Romans 3:23 and Romans 3:10 to illustrate this Reformer perspective. Convinced that Paul
is speaking of a positive righteousness being counted to the defendant, not merely the verdict of
clemency, Piper believes that Wright s system leaves no room for imputation of righteousness, as it
is traditionally understood: Christ s obedience imputed to the sinner s account. Piper accuses
Wright of muddying the water in this area, so that it is unclear whether Wright claims that
righteousness is imparted, as believed in

Role Of Gods In The Odyssey
The Odyssey details Odysseus arduous return to his homeland. Ten years have passed since the
end of the Trojan war and Odysseus, the most cursed man alive , has been missing and presumed
dead by many. (10.79). Throughout the novel, gods play a significant role in the fate of
Odysseus and other characters. The extent of the gods role though is not unqualified, contrary to
Telemachus suggestion that, Zeus is to blame./He deals to each and every/ laborer on this earth
whatever doom he pleases (1.401 403). While Zeus does have this power, his description of how
humans meet their fate is more accurately depicted throughout the novel. As he aptly points out,
from us alone, the say, come all their miseries, yes,/ but they themselves, with their own reckless
ways,/ compound their pain beyond their proper share (1.38 52). While the gods do doom certain
mortals, many of these mortals exacerbate their ill fate by making rash decisions and ignoring the
gods warnings. The gods are also not always disrupting mortals lives; they often aid mortals in
need. In fact, mortals who effectively court the favor of the gods often benefit greatly. While the
gods powers are unquestionable, no one god s power is insurmountable. Gods can be outsmarted
and their wrath escaped. The Odyssey, in congruence with Zeus statement, ultimately, portrays
human freedom as existent, but limited.
While mortals do not unjustly complain about their fates, they fail to acknowledge that they are
also responsible for their ill fate, as mortals themselves, possess a sizable degree of control. There
is little doubt that Odysseus and his crew are unlucky, but had it not been for their brash decisions
they would have reached Ithaca much sooner. After Odysseus cunningly escapes the Cyclops,
Polyphemos, his pride gets the best of him, as taunts the Polyphemos proclaiming, if any man on
the face of the earth should ask you/ who blinded you, shamed you so say Odysseus/ raider of
cities, he gouged out your eye (9.559 561). Odysseus arrogance furthers his misfortune, since
Polyphemos is Poseidon s son. Polyphemos proceeds to ask his father to never allow Odysseus to
return and if Odysseus returns home that it be well over due and without his crew;

Essay on Diversity in Higher Education
With the ratification of the 14th Amendment in 1868, prohibiting states from passing laws that
deny U.S. citizens from equal protection under the law, the Supreme Court has been obliged to
provide decisions that are color blind (U.S. Const. Amend XIV, В§ 1). However, the Court often
viewed education as a state issue and was reluctant to get involved. That all changed in the 1954
Supreme Court decision known as Brown v. Board of Educationof Topeka, Kansas. In this ruling, it
was decided that, State sanctioned segregation of public schools was a violation of the 14th
Amendment and was therefore constitutional (National Archives, n.d.). It was at this time that the

focus on socioeconomic status since this was not protected under the Fourteenth Amendment and it
promotes authentic diversity and equal opportunity (p. 371). They also wanted to be sure to
maintain minority representation should race no longer be a consideration with the passage of
Amendment 46. A study was conducted that evaluated two traits in determining socioeconomic
status. The first was the Overachievement Indices. This evaluated how a student s test scores (e.g.
ACT, SAT) and GPA compared with other students from the same socioeconomic background.
The second was the Disadvantage Index. This evaluated criteria such as native language, family
income level, and school location. Two mathematical equations were developed, in order to create
a standard, by which to measure a student s socioeconomic status, and how this may affect their
success at college. In 2009, the University at Colorado at Boulder conducted an experiment to see
how its class based acceptance policy compared with its race based acceptance policy. They found
that the class based acceptance rate was nine percent higher than considering race alone. Black,

Market Failure Essay
Market failure occurs when a market equilibrium cannot be reached due to an inefficient allocation
of resources, therefore meaning that scarce, finite resources are not being used optimally. It arises
due to deviations from the assumptions of an idyllic free market, leading to productive and social
inefficiency (Hill,2006).
One of the defining characteristics of a free market economy is that resources are allocated
through the price mechanism. Referring to Figure 1, we can see that initially, bananas were
supplied at Q1 tonnes for P1 the market equilibrium. If the banana demand increases, the curve
will shift from D1 to D2. This raises the price from P1 to P2, and quantity supplied from Q1 to
Q2 tonnes. But, the price will not persist as the price increase signals for firms to produce more
bananas, shifting the supply curve from S1 to S2. This creates a new market equilibrium as
quantity supplied shifts from Q2 to Q3 and price decreases back to P1. In addition, free markets
assume Pareto optimality, where individuals cannot become more well off others becoming worse
off (Hill, 2006). Also, there would be defined legal ownership of all resources and access to free
perfect information.
There are a number of reasons why market failure in agriculture occurs. One of the reasons is
imperfect competition such as monopsony where there are a large number of sellers but only a
single buyer. Due to the high buying power of supermarkets such as Tesco, farmer profits

Sports Are Good For Children
Organized Sports are Good for Children As time passes and as technology is advancing, the
tradition of playing outside is diminishing rapidly. Many people concentrate on their electronic
devices in their ages as early as three. Sports are the most effective way that children express
their joyfulness and brilliance. It provides children advantages of physical activities, confidence,

Pros And Cons Of Free Trade Essay
Pros and Cons of Free Trade I. Introduction Free trade, the ever present driving force behind our
national and world economy, is a trade policy embroiled in controversy. It is considered by most
economists to be an almost perfect trade policy, barring a few negative effects. Free trade has
been shown to increase production, output and income levels in an economy. However, there
are many people that view free trade as destroyer of economies and a catalyst of poverty. Critics
of free trade have pointed out that in the short run, free trade causes a loss of jobs which in turn
causes a rise in poverty levels. It is interesting to note that the argument for free trade and the
argument against free trade are inverses of each other. Proponents of free trade see it as a tool to
stimulate an economy while detractors see it as a policy which exacerbates poverty, causes
dependency and reduces economic stability. In general, there is no consensus on free trade.
Economists see free trade as the devil that we know. While imperfect, it is the best we have to
work with. Popular opinion sees free trade as a cause of inequality. Even though it alleviates
poverty and causes economic stimulation in the long run, it can cause the exact opposite in the
short run. The pros and the cons of free trade must then be weighed, which will then allow us to
determine if free trade is truly a beneficial trade policy. Therefore, this discussion will weigh the
benefits and harms of free trade and will

Mentally Ill And Violent Crimes
Abstract
In recent years, there has been a connection linked with individuals who are mentally ill and violent
crimes that occur within them. Mental Illness is often associated with why people commit crimes.
A person that is considered mentally ill will sometimes steer in the direction of violence. Mental
illness is a term in history that refers collectively to all mental disorders that are diagnosable.
Schizophrenia has been labeled as the most common mental disorder individuals have for the reason
to why they commit violent crimes. Schizophrenia is a very serious mental disorder in which a
person cannot think or behave normally and often experience delusions.

Mental Illness and Crime
Crimes are illegal acts committed by people from all walks of life, such as: rich people, poor
people, young people, old people, normal people, or mentally ill people. Many people have their
own reasons for committing crimes, but mentally ill individuals sometimes unknowingly, commit
crimes or acts of violence. The reasons and purpose of the research is to identify the most
commonly known mental disorders associated with violence and crime. It is important to research
this topic because individuals who are mentally ill and sick are more prone to commit a crime
more than the normal individual. Studies and tests should be applicable as to why this is accurate.

Analysis Of Man With A Movie Camera
Man with a Movie Camera is a portrayal of the life of the cameraman. Through the eye of the
camera, it also shows the rapid industrialization of Soviet Russia through a glorifying perspective.
The film fits into the socialist realism movement and seeks to paint a positive image of the Soviet
Union before the viewers with realistic images. Knowing Vertov s background as a newsreel
producer for the state, it is rather predictable that the filmwould feature the positive impacts of the
communist revolution on Soviet life. By making this film, Vertov resolves his concern that there
were films about various industries and the making of all kinds of other goods, and there had not
yet been one about cinema (Hicks 178). Through the heroic depictions of the life of a cameraman,
the film industry is exalted as one of the mechanical industries that drive the advancement of the
Soviet Union. Although Vertov stayed loyal to his artistic principle of depicting the reality at a time
when blatantly manipulative narratives were popular, this film is nonetheless a propaganda that
sought to unite the lower class into a common purpose, contributing their strengths and vitality for
the communist industrial revolution.
One of the motifs in the film is the shots of the cameraman at work, often interwoven with the
visuals seen by the eye of the camera. Vertov composes this film with his method called kino eye
that serves to demystify film and strip away the illusion of its unmediated

dancing talent from vaudeville, which opened doors in script writing to incorporate these talents.
The four co stars had an innate ability to evoke laughter; behind the set a bulletin board listed the
names of cast and crew with a series of gold stars next to each name. These represented the
number of times funny, off camera ad libs were made (William Frawley always won.)
On Monday, October 15, 1951, I Love Lucy made its debut on the CBS television network,
which then consisted of a few big stations and seventy four local affiliates. There was solid

the original radio classic. Lucy, so the critics predicted, didn t stand a chance. (Andrews, 64.) The
first episode to air, preceded by the first of many Philip Morris cigarette commercials, was titled

Netherlands. It s about a girl who is raised by her father named Casper Ten Boom who runs a
watch repair business which is the family s way of making money. He lives with his daughters that

woman of 45. She dedicates her life to serving others and sharing the Bible. She was a Dutch

Corrie s family had great beliefs in Christianity and felt that they were called to help the Jews in
every way possible. So she ended up participating in a black market for ration cards that were
stolen but in which they needed to help the Jews. This then led her to end up hiding Jews in her
own home. She knew that her family would probably not get away with helping the Jews as they
had no place to put them. Corrie was then later met by a man who had asked Corrie to help him
with his wife who had been arrested she agreed to help but unknowingly the man was a Nazi
undercover and the watch shop was raided and the whole Ten Boom family was arrested . The
Jews were back at the house in a secret room. Corrie was then sent to a Dutch prison where she
stayed in a cell in which it was very cold in the mists of night and in which you couldn t
communicate with anyone and the Nazi officers would not let you lay down. She then later found
out that Betsie was in a different cell but didn t know exactly which one because of the lack of
communication. Corrie wasn t so worried about her sister she was much more worried about her

Foolishness Quotes In Hamlet
Hamlet A Character of Foolishness and Wisdom
I am going to be sharing my thoughts on the character of Hamlet from Shakespeare s play entitled
Hamlet. The fact Shakespeare named the play after Hamlet is our first clue that he is a complicated
character who will be important to the entire play. Hamlet is the character who drives the story line
of the play. However, Hamlet speaks of providence which means he recognizes another power
driving his and his family and friends lives. Although Hamlet is trying to right a wrong, his father
s murder, he does not achieve this in a direct manner. He does not find the truth and quickly act to
see justice done. He stumbles and falls along the plot achieving his goal in the end, but he foolishly
kills a man himself and he often has strange behaviors and sayings. Although Hamlet is honored at
the end of the play his personality exhibits a combination of both foolishness and wisdom. ... Show

Detection or Identification of Trace Amounts of Explosives
The detection and/or identification of trace amounts of explosives.
The review of each method should include a description of the way the method works and the
advantages and drawbacks of the technique.
Introduction
An explosive, are reactive substances that contain a large amount of potential energy that can yield
an explosion if they are released rapidly, they are accompanied by the production of light, heat,
sound, and pressure. Mainly used in the mining industry for extraction of minerals and resources,
explosives have been used as a weapon of destruction. Explosives often contain oxidising substances
such as nitrates chlorates, and a binding agent such as ammonium and potassium, which can be
detected and analysed to prevent such substances from being used as a weapon.
Explosives detection is critically important in many field settings (e.g., military facilities,
minefields, crime scenes, and remediation sites) and has become a necessity for the safety of the
general public (e.g., at airports and mass transit areas), there remains a demand for inexpensive and
reliable explosive instruments for identifying specific explosives. High explosives are considered to
be organic and oxidizing, a relatively uncommon mixture that makes them tractable for molecular
recognition.
On 22 December 2001 Richard Colvin Reid also known as the Shoe Bomber attempted to detonate
explosives packed into the shoes he was wearing, while on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris
to Miami.

The Letter G In REGARDS Represents Gender Discrimination
The letter G in REGARDS represents gender discrimination. The law says that men and women
in the workplace should be treated equally. Unless the woman is pregnant, or close to giving
birth, or just gave birth, she should be granted some rights that men do not have. For example, if
women models are needed to model a new line for women clothing. The hiring process can be
strictly towards women for the position (Robinson, 2013, p. 29). This situation is called bona fide
occupational qualification or (BFOQ). If there is a job that qualifies a lot of upper body strength,
such as lifting heavy boxes loading or unloading trucks a womanshould receive the same treatment
and pay in the position that a man would on the job. If a man wanted to

Major Motor Pathways Case Study
Look at Table 8.1 in which Carlson summarizes the Major Motor Pathways; consider the related
cortical and subcortical structures controlling movement. Then consider the relationship between
alpha motor neurons and extrafusal muscle fibers. Sir Charles Sherrington stated that the alpha
motor neuron (which is also referred to as the lower motor neuron) is the final common pathway. As
psychologists, this notion of the final common pathway being comprised of lower motor neuron
axons is very important to us. Considering the above information, why would Sherrington and
everyone since refer to the alpha motor neuron as the final common pathway? Incorporate
neuroanatomical information about motor systems to support your explanation. The alpha motor...

On top of the nasal cavity, lies the olfactory epithelium (mucous tissue that covers the cribriform
plate and contains the cilia necessary for olfactory receptors). The process starts when air enters
the nasal cavity and makes its way to the olfactory receptors. These olfactory receptors are located
in the olfactory epithelium and contain many bipolar neurons. These receptors send processes to
the epithelium where it divides into 10 to 20 cilia. Molecules of odor then must dissolve in the
mucus and stimulate the receptors in the cilia, which detect aromatic molecules. Next, each
olfactory receptor cell sends an axon into the olfactory bulb, which is located at the end of the
olfactory tract. Here, it forms synapse with dendrites of mitral cells (neurons of olfactory bulb),
which takes place in the dendritic and axonal aborizations, called the olfactory glomeruli. From
there, the axons travel to the rest of the brain, some terminating in the ipsilateral forebrain and
contralateral olfactory bulb.
Furthermore, the axons of the olfactory tract project to either the amygdala, piriform cortex (region
of limbic cortex) and the entorhinal cortex (region of the limbic cortex). From the amygdala,
information then is sent to the hypothalamus. The entorhinal cortex sends its information to the
hippocampus. The piriform cortex takes its information to the hypothalamus and orbitofrontal cortex

Buying An Exotic Caged Pet
There are several concerns that must be addressed if you want to get an exotic caged pet. Some of
them are cited here:
Impulsive buying Exotic animals are often bought for their novelty and the common mistake of
impulsive buyers is that they ride on the novelty factor these animals project. What most people do
not realize is that caring for exotic caged pets can sometimes last for several years, several months
at least. This duration requires dedication and careful attention to the needs of the pet. It is
therefore imperative that long term commitment is a must when owning an exotic pet.
Health concerns Animals have diseases that are transferable to humans. There are also those human
diseases that can affect animals. Either way, your

This paper was prepared for MEA 205, taught by Melody Redman Abstract
This paper will explain what every woman, teenager, and parent who has female daughter s needs to
know about endometrial cancer. It is important for women to educate themselves about this
common disease, but it is also important for parents. If you have abnormal vaginal bleeding that
is not related to menses, there is a clear vaginal discharge, you have long and / or heavy bleeding

The endometrium is the lining of the uterus, a hollow, muscular organ in a woman s pelvis. The
uterus is where a fetus grows. In most non pregnant women, the uterus is about 3 inches long. The
lower, narrow end of the uterus is the cervix, which leads to the vagina . (www.cancer.gov 2017)
One of the risk factors for endometrial cancer is obesity. These women who are heavier they
carry more fat cells than someone who is not obese. Because there has been such a rise in obesity,
this now affects children and teens. There seem to be more cases in younger women today. Other
risk factors are the use of Tamoxifen. This is a drug that is used to treat breast cancer, and while
tamoxifen is for breast cancer it hinders the endometrium. It can cause cancer cells in the lining of
the wall to grow, therefore causing endometrium cancer.
Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (pcos) is another risk factor. PCOS happens when little cysts
continue to grow on the ovaries and, filling with fluid and causing pain. PCOS is an imbalance in a
woman s hormones; it causes the excess of progesterone, estrogen, and can cause

iii. However, in the potential future scenario of a 10% turboprop, 30% regional jet, and 60%
conventional jet mix, the PPP would have an insignificant effect. iv. Our analysis in 1. and 2. shows
that the potential savings in delay costs that result from demand management can potentially
offset the peak period fees. For example, if the current peak period demand is 59 planes and a fee
of $250 can reduce it to 40 planes, the total costs that conventional jets incur decreases from
$4641.11 to $526.16. However, if the current demand is 50 planes, a fee of $250, which reduces
the demand to 40 planes, would not be offset, Further, it must be noted that conventional jets
benefit the most from a decrease in demand resulting from a PPP. If the current demand is 59
planes, for turbotrops the landing fee can be offset from delay costs savings, but this is not the
case if the current demand is, for example, 55 or 50 planes. To conclude, the savings in delay
costs that result from demand management can offset peak period fees, but only if the initial
demand is high and usually only in the case of conventional jets. 3. A) One of the fundamental
assumptions of waiting line systems is that the arrival rate cannot exceed the service rate or the
system is said to be unstable. In the case, the arrival rate at times is almost equal to, or greater than,
the service rate, hence

Sylvia Plath Controversy
That s Not How You Bake a Cake, Sylvia Sylvia Plath was an American Poet known for her
confessional style with brilliant wordplay. She had an interesting life filled with love and losses.
Sylvia Plath was and is still a major source of controversy. Sylvia had a troublesome childhood
plagued with death and depression. She was born on October 27, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts
(Biography1). Her parents were Otto Emil, a German professor and entomologist, and Aurelia
Schober, a teacher (Poetry29). Sylvia had a relatively privileged childhood, until her father died
when she was eight years old (Poetry29). That same year she wrote and published her first poem
Daddy, which is based on her father (Poetry29).

Sylvia is best known for The Colossus, Ariel, and possibly her most controversial writing The Bell
Jar (Learner1 2). Sylvia was the first poet to be posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her
Collected Poems (Archive1). I want to believe that if Plath received this award when she was
alive, it would have dampened her depression and make her rethink suicide. Sylvia Plath had a
major part in the battle for feminism because she had such a difficult time conforming to the wife
and mother roles in her life (Learner1). I think that Sylvia did not want to be a part of the feminist
movement, but instead she was just handling her problems the only way she knew, through writing
about them. Numerous people speculate what sent Sylvia over the edge. Some possibilities are the
feminist movement using her as an icon, Hughes infidelity, or her father dying when she was at
such a young age (Archive1). I think that Plath s suicide had something to do with her being the
jump starter for a movement and also not being able to please or satisfy her husband, which in her
era was one of the most important roles in women s

Alexander The Great Quotes
Alexander the Great
I once heard this quote by Alexander the Great it quote An army of sheep, led by a lion, is better
than an army of lions, led by a sheep. ~ Alexander the Great. Alexander is from Pella, Macedonia
in 356 B.C. Alexander s parents were Queen Olympias and King Phillip the II. Although some
legends said that Alexander s father was Zeus. When Alexander turned twelve he tamed a wild
horse called Bucephalus which is a huge horse with a furious attitude. The horse became his and
battled with him against other places for most of his life.
When Alexander was only thirteen his father called the great sophist Aristotle to teach his son.
Alexander learned that his favorites that Aristotle taught him was literature, science, medicine, and
philosophy. Alexander was sixteen his father went to go battle the Byzantiums and left Alexander in
charge of Macedonia. One day Alexander saw the chance to prove he is military worth and led a
cavalry against the Sacred Band of Thebes. Alexander took his ability and bravery on display and

The Relationship Between Alvy And Annie In The 70 s
In the 1977 film, Annie Hall directed by Woody Allen, Alvy Singer played by Allen is followed
through his relationship with Annie Hall, played by Diane Keaton. The thematic elements of the
relationship between Alvy and Annie is an example of the 1960 s and 1970 s film era. The
relationship demonstrates the new youth directed aspects, the explicitly of drugs and sexuality and
the offbeat new values and point of view of youth. The relationship between Alvy and Annie is
complex and modern. The young couple goes through ups and down throughout their relationship
showing the real side to relationships. Avly is a middle aged man who has already been through
two marriages before he meets Annie. Although they are older, their relationship models that of
youth in the 70 s. They are young adventurous and spontaneous. Their conversations flow and it is
awkward and uncomfortable at times like what the beginning of a new relationship is really like.

Mahatma Gandhi And Adolf Hitler As A Leader
Two historical leaders
The prominent leader of the Indian Independence against the rule of British rule in India,
Mahatma Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar of India. He studied law in London
and after completion of his study; he travelled to South Africa where he practiced as a lawyer
advocating for civil rights against the tyrannical British rule. When he returned back to his country
after serving in South Africa for a few years, he continued his advocacy of civil rights as he
wanted to free India from the British tyranny and promote a feeling of unity among the Indians.
While standing against the British and encouraging as well as attracting the Indians towards his
vision, he never took path of violence, but always believed in the path of non violence and always
practiced the same.
Adolf Hitler was born in 1889, who was a dictatorial leader of Germany from 1934 to 1945. He
represented National Socialist German Workers Party commonly known as the Nazi Party. We have
always recognized Hitler as a dictatorial and as inhuman being who took the lives of many people.
But, when we look towards the positive part of his tenure, he made many reformations where he
promoted cleanliness, encouraged no meat consumption and also promoted anti smoking campaign
throughout the country. He also made the concept of euthanasia legal and authorized it for disabled
adults.
The two leaders were completely different from one another. Gandhi was a democratic leader while

Rhetorical Analysis Of Faith, Truth And Tolerance In America
During Senator Edward M. Kennedy s speech, Faith, Truth, and Tolerance in America, he attempts
to bring Americans together by helping them understand different viewpoints and recognize when
to input religion into debate. Kennedy concentrates on this topic because during that October of
1983, tensions were rising in the country due to conflicting opinions on the nuclear freeze.
Kennedy, a Democrat, delivers this speech at Liberty Baptist University, a largely Republican
college, so he repeatedly demonstrates his ability to relate to the audience in an effort to fill the
space between their differing political parties and religions. Additionally, he makes references to
ethos to prove his authority to speak on the subject at hand. He portrays... Show more content on

audience at the start of the speech. Through that remark and the statement, You may not appreciate
the president, but the Democrats certainly appreciate the prayer, he turns some of the disconnect
between him and the students into comical banter. Recognizing that his audience is college aged,
Kennedy uses humor to make them more comfortable with him as a speaker. After establishing a
positive rapport with the students, his tone becomes more sincere. Towards the end of his speech,
Kennedy states, That ideal shines across all the generations of our history and all the ages of our

  • 3. The Cause And Effects Of The Bystander Effects When there is an emergency, why is taking out our phones to take a picture or video the very first thing we want to do? Why do we casually walk by a person who is in trouble, and go about our business as if we did not anyone? Why do we not help or act when someone is getting, but instead we just stand in a crowd and watch? Why do we bury our moral instincts during emergencies? We witness a problem, consider positive action, and respond by doing nothing. Why do we not help in these situations and put our moral instincts in shackles (Keltner Marsh, 2017). We as people are bystanders to the world around us daily, but the question is why? The answer to all the why questions is the bystander effect. The bystander effect is a social psychological scenario where a person who is in an urgent situation is not given any help by the people around due to the discourage from the presence of others (whatispsychology.biz, 2017). Social psychologists, John Darley and Bibb Latane, introduced the bystander effect in the 1960s after the murder of Kitty Genovese, a young woman who was stabbed to death outside her home in New York City. It took her attacker more than half an hour to kill her, and during that time, thirty eight people saw her being murdered, and they did nothing to help her. The responsibility for helping was diffused among the observers (Darley Latane, 1968). Psychologists state diffusion of responsibility is one of the main blames for the bystander effect being ... • 6. Why Little Recognition Can Affect The Profit Of The... 4.3.Primary Study Analysis The methods of analysis are based on Kvale, Brinkmann, and Plas s (1996) theory. There are five principal approaches of analysis, including condensation, categorisation, and narrative, interpretation, and ad hoc. The reviewing method for each question is going to be selected in line with the objectives of the questions. 4.3.1.Brand Awareness Among the ten interviewees (see Table 4 1), merely one person can recall her memory of a Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 s sponsor, Taiyen Culture Creative. The other nine people have the difficulty in recollecting the memory of the sponsors. Therefore, they require the assistance of the researcher to remind them of the brand names of the sponsors. The issue of little recognition can affect the profit of the sponsors and the brand image enhancement negatively based on the theory of Aaker (1991). Furthermore, based on Aaker s (1991) theory, the reason of the unawareness of Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 sponsors might be the failure of letting the public realise the brands products and services. The occasion of unfamiliarity and unrecognition happened to almost every interviewees except Interviewee J because of her extended work experience and higher economic situation (see Table 4 2). • 7. What To Do Without Tilford s Pet Shoppe When Napoleon announced to the farm that they would begin to trade with neighboring farms to get additional materials, some animals originally were skeptical to if it was allowed in the commandments. However, before anyone could speak up, the sheep silenced them with their chant of Four legs good, two legs bad! (Orwell 65). In Tilford s pet shoppe [SIC], after the animals all escape from their cages many animals ask the question of what to do without Tilford. The fish fuel this question even more by asking Berkeley if it were true that it would then be their shoppe. Both animals were followers of the current leaders, Napoleon and Berkeley. They further each revolution for freedom in unique ways. The sheep prevented Napoleon from being questioned... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In literature, they often stand on the sidelines while other characters are making bad decisions. Orwell writes about a donkey named Benjamin, who has lived on the farm longer than any of the other animals. He is one of the few characters who can remember the past and think into the future, making him very wise. While the others animals were excited by the idea of a windmill to improve their lives and lessen the workload, Benjamin believed that life would go on as it had always gone on that is, badly (Orwell 52). This shows that his cynical nature kept him from being optimistic about the plans. Similarly, Johnson uses a tortoise to portray the cynical characteristics in the pet shoppe. Tortoise is different from the other animals, as he is the only one who ever escaped the shoppe to be in the outside world. Because of his previous escape, he is more stoic and keeps to himself. This shows when he was outside of the shoppe, he saw that being free was actuallyHe didn t want to be released and even snapped at Monkey s fingers when he tried to open his cage (Johnson 119), which shows his desire to not be a part of the outside ... They are the expenses that are incurred before the business is running. In the case of GameGo, our highest startup expenses will come from software development, advertising, and licensing fees. Software Development Expense The most important factor in the launch of GameGo is the software development. From the article How Much Does Facebook Advertise Cost? by Marc Prosser published on July 13, 2013 it states that, With Facebook, you get to choose what you want to pay for advertising. You will never pay more than the maximum amount that you bid to have your ad appear or be clicked on. However, the bidding process is competitive. If you bid too low, your ad will never be seen. On average, companies spend about $24.00 daily per site to advertising through Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, which will let their ad be shown about 36,000 times a day (Prosser, 2013). To make sure our ad is seen efficiently throughout the day, we have set a daily budget of $27.00 per site equaling $29,565 per year. Having heavy and concise advertising has proven to be effective for companies when done right. Another way that we wanted to advertise was by going to video game conventions and getting our product in the market. The average cost of having a 20X20 square foot booth would be $50,000 (Cost of Trade Show, 2014). We would have to have a budget of $70,000 for the trade show to make sure that we have enough for the booth and room and board for the team. Sometimes the world offers solace to whatever miseries life has given you; sometimes with the knowledge that you re alone, sometimes with the knowledge that you re not. Often, people find their way outside, submerging themselves in the wild, cultivated or not, in order to seek out that offered comfort. Nick does in Earnest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River. He finds comfort in the ability to just go through the motions, like how Mary Oliver s The Wild Geese offers nature s unconditional acceptance. Big Two Hearted River finds Nick in a place of depression, it seems, one where he has no choice but to go through the motions, focus one task at a time, and drift through his life. • 10. The Balance Of Power Theory Balance of power theory represents a body of interrelated concepts for achieving security and stability by maintaining an equal distribution of power throughout the international system. Some critics contend that the theory cannot provide guidance to states in a unipolar system since it developed out of centuries of multipolarity and decades of bipolarity. This assessment is incorrect. Although a specific conception of balance of power theory may not provide guidance, an appraisal of the concepts within its various forms suggests continuing relevance. This paper discusses balance of power theory by examining the evolution of its structural and ideational variants, and asserts that the concept remains relevant in a unipolar international system. The balance of power is a historical concept with a variety of meanings. In Thucydides account of the Melian dialogue, he indirectly refers to countries balancing in response to growing Athenian power and aggression (Thucydides, 1972). Over 1200 years later, Hobbes described balancing in reference to the ability of a confederacy of the weak to overwhelm the strong (Hobbes, 1996). Both Thucydides and Hobbes reference a type of balancing aimed at reestablishing an equilibrium of power within the international system. Gulick refers to this behavior by states as a doctrine of counterpoise, designed to ensure the survival of individual states and to prevent a state from accruing predominant power (Gulick, 1955). • 11. An Integration Center Of The Reflex Arc An integration center in the reflex arc is a neuropathway that creates a reflex action to activating neurons to skip the spinal cord and protect your brain. The nerve cells can be categorized by their connections, structure, and neurotransmitters. The structural classification is depending on shape and size of the cell body, its dendritic tree, axonlength, and the nature of the connections it makes. The neurons with one, two, or more than two neurites, are unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar respectively. Most of neurons in vertebrate nervous systems are multipolar, but there are significant exceptions. For illustration, bipolar neurons in the retina synapse with sensory neurons, and photoreceptors in the dorsal root ganglion are explained as pseudo unipolar as they begin life as bipolar cells but their two neurites fuse. The unipolar neurons dominate in invertebrates. Collaterals a small side branch, as of a blood vessel or nerve. A neuronal pool is a group of interconnected neurons with specific functions. A pool may be diffuse, involving neurons in several regions of the brain, or localized, with neurons restricted to one specific location in the brain or spinal cord. However, the proper function of the circuit of the stretch reflex also relies on convergence and divergence. A single sensory has multiple branches that diverge and make synaptic connections with many individual motor neurons. Therefore, when the muscle contracts as a result of the neurologist s tapper, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Description Of Yahweh From Exodus 34 Essay The description of Yahweh found in Exodus 34:5 7 is a significant and influential passage from the Old Testament text which is foundational for biblical theology, since it provides the most complete description of both the name and the nature of God found anywhere within the scriptural canon. Its significance can is noted by the fact that this passage is quoted and referred back to at least eleven times throughout the Old Testament including in the books of Jeremiah, Joel, Numbers, Nehemiah, Lamentations, Daniel, and 1 Kings.. In order to fully understand the meaning and purpose of this passage, several other passages must be considered which serve both as anticipatory texts and texts which provide contextual meaning. One such text is found in the thirty third chapter of Exodus. The passage from Exodus 34 is especially significant as many characteristics of Yahwehare revealed to Mosesby Yahweh Himself. Another important aspect of this passage is its poeticism and the fact that it reveals the innate characteristics of Godin such a way that demonstrates literary beauty and rhythm. Many phrases and expressions in this passage are presented in pairs. This is augmented by the fact that this passage, in the broadest sense, serves to emphasize the two aspects of God which are most basic. These two aspects are His love and His justice. The purpose of this paper is to examine and analyze this passage in Exodus 34, as well as several contextual texts, in order to attempt to grasp ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Berlin Airlift s main priority was to assist the people in Berlin with supplies such as food, clothing, medical supplies, and much more, because the Soviets blockaded West Berlin and deprived Berlin citizens of resources in an attempt to run the other allied powers out of the city. Thousands of individuals were helped during the Berlin Airlift, which lasted a little over a year. The three main causes of the Berlin Airlift was post World War ll, Germany split up into 4 zones, the Soviet Blockade, and the Cold War . When World War ll ended and the Allied powers came out victorious against Germany, the Allies had to decide what to do with the country. • 15. The Good, the Bad and the Perverse What is natural and unnatural can both be considered good and bad. Something like a disease is natural yet it is bad. Antibiotics are not natural, but they are good. Just because something is natural, it cannot be considered good . Something that is deemed unnatural can only be considered in some situations. That is when normal or perverse come into play, when something can t exactly be named unnatural. The concept may be questioned because the answer for what is measured normal is unclear. (Trevas, pg. 229) Something being perverse doesn t have to mean it is bad; it is immoral or moral in different situations. The actual meaning of perversion is an alteration or corruption of an original cause, meaning or state. A perversion takes something from being originally good, to then being bad. Good or bad, a perversion has no connection to morality. A type of perversion is a sexual perversion. Different religions, a persons attitude towards things; may probably have different ideas on perversion. Any action that brings sexual pleasure, but has little or no chance in resulting in conception is considered perverse. (Trevas, pg. 230) Under that statement, a lot of things may then be viewed as perverse. Masturbation, same sex sexual relations, and the use of contraceptives, all things that can be argued to be natural; can still be considered perverse under that definition. Sexual perversion can also include sex with animals, tangible objects, and plants fall into that category. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Opening new production sites or distribution centers closer to dispersed customers is one way to reduce the lead time and transportation costs. However, the acquisition of such facilities in the oil and petrochemical industries, if feasible, is typically very costly and often results in higher inventory and operating costs (Hebert, 2004). Red Cavaney, president of the American Petroleum Institute, said Most companies are unlikely to undertake the significant investment needed to even begin the process (Hebert, 2004) These factors are pushing oil and petrochemicals companies to either absorb the increase in costs or pass the costs on to customers who are already facing increasing prices. Companies therefore have recognized that improved supply chain efficiencies represent a huge area for cost savings, specifically in the logistics area; they are estimated to be an average between 10 and 20 percent of revenues (Hamilton, 2003). Also, companies believe that the supply chain in which they participate as customers and suppliers is what creates competition rather than individual companies (Whitfield, 2004; Lange, 2004; Morton, 2003; Bianchi, 2003; Collins, 1999; Coia, 1999). Abortion data is only gathered by South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. However, South Australia is the only state to publish data and report findings annually. Abortion is a heavy topic which has the nation spilt into two groups; pro life or pro choice. Pro life is in favour of the foetus and they believe that by killing the foetus it is equivalent to murder. Pro choice is for abortion, as they believe that the woman has the choice to do what she wants with her body. This report will cover how religion deals with abortion and how it can clash with modern ethnicity, abortion safety, the repercussions of abortion and the social aspects of abortion. RELIGION VS ETHNICITY Religious communities have had a convoluted history in regards to abortion. The Catholic Church of Australia states the direct and voluntary killing of an unborn is gravely immoral. No reason, however serious or tragic, can ever justify the deliberate killing of an innocent human being . My own study with the Child of Our Time group in 2001 showed that exposure to a particular piece of music before birth had long lasting effects, as the babies seemed to prefer listening to that music up to 15 months after birth. Other studies have explored the features of maternal singing, showing how this can make the baby feel calm. Just as there are innumerable variations between Christian denominations of today, Piper reasons, even if many Jews did not have a works based understanding of salvation, some certainly did. Paul could be addressing this particular subset of Jews within Romans and Galatians. To Piper, Paul s letters could be toward those legalistic Jews who view the Law as that which does not literally save, but which creates spiritual superiority and in some ways, earns a degree of favor before God. Piper views this kind of works righteousness as warped and unbiblical, citing likened issues as the purpose for Paul s composition of Romans and Galatians. In the same way, Piper argues, the essence of human righteousness is faithfulness to uphold the glory of God in all that we do. The issue, however, as Piper describes, is that humans fall short of this glory, and thus, no one is righteous. Piper would cite biblical references such as Romans 3:23 and Romans 3:10 to illustrate this Reformer perspective. Convinced that Paul is speaking of a positive righteousness being counted to the defendant, not merely the verdict of clemency, Piper believes that Wright s system leaves no room for imputation of righteousness, as it is traditionally understood: Christ s obedience imputed to the sinner s account. • 28. Role Of Gods In The Odyssey The Odyssey details Odysseus arduous return to his homeland. Ten years have passed since the end of the Trojan war and Odysseus, the most cursed man alive , has been missing and presumed dead by many. (10.79). Throughout the novel, gods play a significant role in the fate of Odysseus and other characters. The extent of the gods role though is not unqualified, contrary to Telemachus suggestion that, Zeus is to blame./He deals to each and every/ laborer on this earth whatever doom he pleases (1.401 403). While Zeus does have this power, his description of how humans meet their fate is more accurately depicted throughout the novel. As he aptly points out, from us alone, the say, come all their miseries, yes,/ but they themselves, with their own reckless ways,/ compound their pain beyond their proper share (1.38 52). While the gods do doom certain mortals, many of these mortals exacerbate their ill fate by making rash decisions and ignoring the gods warnings. The gods are also not always disrupting mortals lives; they often aid mortals in need. In fact, mortals who effectively court the favor of the gods often benefit greatly. While the gods powers are unquestionable, no one god s power is insurmountable. Gods can be outsmarted and their wrath escaped. The Odyssey, in congruence with Zeus statement, ultimately, portrays human freedom as existent, but limited. While mortals do not unjustly complain about their fates, they fail to acknowledge that they are also responsible for their ill fate, as mortals themselves, possess a sizable degree of control. There is little doubt that Odysseus and his crew are unlucky, but had it not been for their brash decisions they would have reached Ithaca much sooner. After Odysseus cunningly escapes the Cyclops, Polyphemos, his pride gets the best of him, as taunts the Polyphemos proclaiming, if any man on the face of the earth should ask you/ who blinded you, shamed you so say Odysseus/ raider of cities, he gouged out your eye (9.559 561). They also wanted to be sure to maintain minority representation should race no longer be a consideration with the passage of Amendment 46. A study was conducted that evaluated two traits in determining socioeconomic status. The first was the Overachievement Indices. This evaluated how a student s test scores (e.g. ACT, SAT) and GPA compared with other students from the same socioeconomic background. The second was the Disadvantage Index. This evaluated criteria such as native language, family income level, and school location. Two mathematical equations were developed, in order to create a standard, by which to measure a student s socioeconomic status, and how this may affect their success at college. In 2009, the University at Colorado at Boulder conducted an experiment to see how its class based acceptance policy compared with its race based acceptance policy. • 30. Market Failure Essay Market failure occurs when a market equilibrium cannot be reached due to an inefficient allocation of resources, therefore meaning that scarce, finite resources are not being used optimally. It arises due to deviations from the assumptions of an idyllic free market, leading to productive and social inefficiency (Hill,2006). One of the defining characteristics of a free market economy is that resources are allocated through the price mechanism. Referring to Figure 1, we can see that initially, bananas were supplied at Q1 tonnes for P1 the market equilibrium. If the banana demand increases, the curve will shift from D1 to D2. This raises the price from P1 to P2, and quantity supplied from Q1 to Q2 tonnes. But, the price will not persist as the price increase signals for firms to produce more bananas, shifting the supply curve from S1 to S2. This creates a new market equilibrium as quantity supplied shifts from Q2 to Q3 and price decreases back to P1. In addition, free markets assume Pareto optimality, where individuals cannot become more well off others becoming worse off (Hill, 2006). Also, there would be defined legal ownership of all resources and access to free perfect information. There are a number of reasons why market failure in agriculture occurs. One of the reasons is imperfect competition such as monopsony where there are a large number of sellers but only a single buyer. • 36. Pros And Cons Of Free Trade Essay Pros and Cons of Free Trade I. Introduction Free trade, the ever present driving force behind our national and world economy, is a trade policy embroiled in controversy. It is considered by most economists to be an almost perfect trade policy, barring a few negative effects. Free trade has been shown to increase production, output and income levels in an economy. However, there are many people that view free trade as destroyer of economies and a catalyst of poverty. Critics of free trade have pointed out that in the short run, free trade causes a loss of jobs which in turn causes a rise in poverty levels. It is interesting to note that the argument for free trade and the argument against free trade are inverses of each other. Proponents of free trade see it as a tool to stimulate an economy while detractors see it as a policy which exacerbates poverty, causes dependency and reduces economic stability. In general, there is no consensus on free trade. Economists see free trade as the devil that we know. While imperfect, it is the best we have to work with. Popular opinion sees free trade as a cause of inequality. Even though it alleviates poverty and causes economic stimulation in the long run, it can cause the exact opposite in the short run. The pros and the cons of free trade must then be weighed, which will then allow us to determine if free trade is truly a beneficial trade policy. Therefore, this discussion will weigh the benefits and harms of free trade and will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the eye of the camera, it also shows the rapid industrialization of Soviet Russia through a glorifying perspective. The film fits into the socialist realism movement and seeks to paint a positive image of the Soviet Union before the viewers with realistic images. Knowing Vertov s background as a newsreel producer for the state, it is rather predictable that the filmwould feature the positive impacts of the communist revolution on Soviet life. By making this film, Vertov resolves his concern that there were films about various industries and the making of all kinds of other goods, and there had not yet been one about cinema (Hicks 178). Through the heroic depictions of the life of a cameraman, the film industry is exalted as one of the mechanical industries that drive the advancement of the Soviet Union. Although Vertov stayed loyal to his artistic principle of depicting the reality at a time when blatantly manipulative narratives were popular, this film is nonetheless a propaganda that sought to unite the lower class into a common purpose, contributing their strengths and vitality for the communist industrial revolution. The review of each method should include a description of the way the method works and the advantages and drawbacks of the technique. Introduction An explosive, are reactive substances that contain a large amount of potential energy that can yield an explosion if they are released rapidly, they are accompanied by the production of light, heat, sound, and pressure. Mainly used in the mining industry for extraction of minerals and resources, explosives have been used as a weapon of destruction. Explosives often contain oxidising substances such as nitrates chlorates, and a binding agent such as ammonium and potassium, which can be detected and analysed to prevent such substances from being used as a weapon. Explosives detection is critically important in many field settings (e.g., military facilities, minefields, crime scenes, and remediation sites) and has become a necessity for the safety of the general public (e.g., at airports and mass transit areas), there remains a demand for inexpensive and reliable explosive instruments for identifying specific explosives. High explosives are considered to be organic and oxidizing, a relatively uncommon mixture that makes them tractable for molecular recognition. On top of the nasal cavity, lies the olfactory epithelium (mucous tissue that covers the cribriform plate and contains the cilia necessary for olfactory receptors). The process starts when air enters the nasal cavity and makes its way to the olfactory receptors. These olfactory receptors are located in the olfactory epithelium and contain many bipolar neurons. These receptors send processes to the epithelium where it divides into 10 to 20 cilia. Molecules of odor then must dissolve in the mucus and stimulate the receptors in the cilia, which detect aromatic molecules. Next, each olfactory receptor cell sends an axon into the olfactory bulb, which is located at the end of the olfactory tract. Here, it forms synapse with dendrites of mitral cells (neurons of olfactory bulb), which takes place in the dendritic and axonal aborizations, called the olfactory glomeruli. From there, the axons travel to the rest of the brain, some terminating in the ipsilateral forebrain and contralateral olfactory bulb. Furthermore, the axons of the olfactory tract project to either the amygdala, piriform cortex (region of limbic cortex) and the entorhinal cortex (region of the limbic cortex). For example, if the current peak period demand is 59 planes and a fee of $250 can reduce it to 40 planes, the total costs that conventional jets incur decreases from $4641.11 to $526.16. However, if the current demand is 50 planes, a fee of $250, which reduces the demand to 40 planes, would not be offset, Further, it must be noted that conventional jets benefit the most from a decrease in demand resulting from a PPP.
