Designated Hitter Essay
Designated Hitter
Do you prefer a bases loaded double that clears the bases and involves an exciting play at home
plate? Or a boring three run homerun where the base runners trot around the bases, while the
defense stands around with dazed looks on their faces? Do you prefer stolen bases, squeeze plays,
and trying to move the base runners to make something happen; as opposed to a team waiting for
someone to hit a homerun? If you answered yes then consider yourself a fan of small ball. The
characteristic of a Designated Hitter is the major difference between Major League Baseball s two
leagues: The American League and the National League.
The American League has many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are not relied upon to hit home runs, drive in runners in scoring position, or help the team win
a game with their offense. Older players whose careers and skills are on the decline have a chance
to play for an extra year or two.
George Brett, Carl Yastrzemski, Paul Moliter, Dave Winfield, Joe Carter, and Eddie Murray
were all able to extend their careers as designated hitters. This affects the way players are inducted
into the hall of fame. A player with declining physical abilities in the National League will simply
be put on the bench and become a substitute. While in the American League, that same player
could keep getting the same number of at bats by being switched to the Designated Hitter. As a
result, American League players are being inducted into the hall of fame more often because their
statistics are aided by the DH rule. American League Pitchers can go deeper into games because
they don t need to be lifted for a pinch hitter. American League pitchers can concentrate on just
pitching; they don t have to go to the plate and bat. They may be more likely to intimidate opposing
batters by aggressively pitching inside and even hit batters without fear of being thrown at
themselves, knowing that they personally will not have to enter the batter s box and deal with
possible retaliation from the opposing pitcher.
The National League has its own advantages because of its lack of a Designated Hitter. Some
National League statistics have always been higher

Business Intelligence Tools
We live in a day and age where Business Intelligence (BI) tools are becoming a standard for
businesses. In the past, decision makers gathered data from thick paper reports, long presentations,
and other inefficient tools. However, with rapid advancements in technology, especially in the
field of Information Systems, decision makers need more sophisticated and efficient tools to
make sense of their businesses. Analytical tools are very useful because they allow decision
makers to make decisions at every level of business. We are getting to the point where these tools
are critical for a firm s advancement and competition. One cannot discuss dashboards without first
mentioning the magnitude of today s data. The data is so complex and enormous that it takes so
much effort to clean it up before doing anything with it. Data must be scrubbed, checked for
redundancy, inconsistency, irrelevance, and finally consolidated. These processes are not a joke;
each of them take a significant amount of effort and time. Many BI tools have automated some of
these processes. The next step is taking the consolidated data and inputting it into a system to create
some sort of meaning. This is quite an obstacle because even if the data can be analyzed and trends
identified, it is difficult to convey trends in a meaningful manner ( Oracle International Corporation
). Research shows that humans retain more information when it is provided in a graphical format
than when the information is

Misrepresentation Of Adult Men And Women
This purpose of this article and study is to investigate the photographic representation of adult men
and women in their indicative areas of power in the fifty years of issues of the Music
Edicators Journal. 1 Within the disaggregated data are found inequitable representations of females
in comparison with males. 2 Data not only included quantitative and qualitative elements, but also
used photographs as part of the data to give credence to this misrepresentation of the female. 3 As
the various categories were assesses variance in the categories suggest change has transpired over
the fifty years. 4 Still, there is inequity which calls for more change. 5

11 Deeper analysis also showed that the men who were in education usually are in the secondary
level or advance more quickly to the collegiate level to educate as opposed to the female. 12 A
prime example of this is found even among musical subjects. 13 Research showed 67% of males
were band directors, 77% of males were jazz instructors and 71% of general music or lower level
choral music teachers were female. 14
While these and other statistics are alarming and troublesome, the idea is to deal with the problem
gathered from the results of this and other research. 15 The authors admit there is a need for more
research in this and other publications. 16 If these inequalities exist in this publication,
the authors agree that it certainly must exist in many others. 17 They suggest that there should be a
team of editors as opposed to one or two, who take time to scrutinize and pay attention to issues
pertaining to equitable representation in images placed in all further publications. 18 By searching
for a more diverse set of stock images and encouraging a balance in submissions from both sexes,
this should minimize and hopefully eliminate inequity in future publications. 19 This also includes
an equitable representation of music education media for publishers authors and other contributors
alike. 20

15th Century Rafts Research Paper
Remember: Stay in the raft! Louis, a medium built man reminded our tour group as his matted
mane swept across his chiseled face. The tour group consisted of my family of five (from a small
town in northwest Minnesota) who were up in southwest Idaho for a sun drenched summer family
vacation and an engaged couple who lived just a quarter tank away from the area. Although the
1,000 mile plus distance, we appeared to be part of the same familytree, all with our sweet latte hair
glistening in the sun. The branches especially extended when we had our picture taken in our black,
ridiculous wetsuits and our blaze orange helmets. Finally. It was finally time for us to venture this
water rushing obstacle.
Earlier that day we arrived one hour before our planned departure. A beaten up boxed bus, rustier

Bumps and bruises emerged from these 15th century rafts (probably the same ones Christopher
Columbus owned). While looking like a sixth grade project, the black patches worked like Band
Aids patching up the mustard rubber base. The rafts comfortably held eight people, even with the
extra luxuries. The Lays Sour Cream Onion chips, the 12 pack of Dr. Pepper, and the first aid kit
were stored in the waterproof compartments with netting (acting as a security blanket) to prevent
items from falling out just in case the raft tipped upside down. This rarely happens though, our
instructor frequently reminded us. The rafts will remain sturdy enough to ride across the jagged
rocks, yet flexible to maneuver through the rocky maze as flawlessly as an Olympic gymnast. The
sturdy structure was meant to keep our white water adventure as safe as possible.
After about 45 minutes of intriguing instructions, we finally departed. I hopped into the raft as I
felt the cold water seep through my water shoes. Once everyone was secured into the raft and life
vests bolted on, we headed down

Essay about Buck versus Bell
Buck versus Bell
During the early twentieth century, the United States was enduring significant social and economic
changes due to its transformation into a commercial and industrial world power. As the need for
labor escalated within many urban areas, millions of Europeans emigrated from Southern and
Eastern Europe with the hopes of capitalizing upon these employment opportunities and attaining a
better life. Simultaneously, many African Americans migrated from the rural South into major
cities, bearing the same intentions as those of the European immigrants. The presence of these
minority groups generated both racial and class fears within white middle and upper class
Americans. The fervent ethnocentrism resulting from these fears, ... Show more content on

In contrast to the negative eugenics position of the state of Virginia, involuntary sterilizationlaws
emphasizing breeding restrictions for society s unfit neither benefit the welfare of the individual
nor that of society for several moral and legal reasons. The legal validity of these involuntary
sterilization laws would be challenged within the Supreme Court case of Buck v. Bell. In
September of 1924, at the age of eighteen, Carrie Buck, an illegitimate daughter of an allegedly
feebleminded woman, was admitted to the Virginia s State Colony for Epileptics and the
Feebleminded. Six months earlier, the Virginia State Legislature decisively passed their involuntary
sterilization bill authorizing the Superintendents of five state institutions to petition for the
permission to sterilize inmates. Buck, who had a mental age of nine and an I.Q. of about fifty, had
already given birth to an illegitimate child herself, who was allegedly feebleminded as well. At the
time, the Superintendent of the State Colony, Dr. A. S. Priddy, petitioned for permission to sterilize
this woman for fear that Buck would have more mentally defective children. The statute had
provided that each Superintendent needed to receive permission from a special Board of Directors
of that institution, who would hear the grounds for sterilization and determine whether or not to
follow through on the operation. Priddy faced immense pressure from state officials to petition for
sterilization, as

Comparison of Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce et Decorum A Comparison of Two Poems
In this essay I will compare two poems. The poems that I will discuss, are Charge of the Light
Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Dulce Et Decorum by Wilfred Owen. Wilfred Owen was
actually a fighter in the war, where as Alfred, Lord Tennyson only wrote the poem on what he
had heard and he had no experience of war. Although both poems are about war, they are a
complete contrast to each other, not only in the way they are written but also with the message
they deliver. Charge of the Light Brigade delivers a strong message. The theme of this poem is
war. The poem gives us the impression that war is glorious and noble. The poem... Show more

The assonance in this sentence sounds likes the horses trotting at a steady pace towards the
opposition. In stanza two we continue picturing them heading towards war but also picture
some drama and shouting. Forward, the light Brigade! Was there a man dismay d? Not tho the
soldier knew someone had blunder d . We also imagine them showing great courage, Their s but
to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. In stanza three we picture them
staring death straight in the eye as they are directly in front of the opposition, Cannon to right of
them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them although they are in a terrifying situation
the writer still makes them sound noble and courageous Boldly they rode well, Into the jaws of
Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred. Stanza four tells us about the battle. There
is a great deal of onomatopoeia in stanza four which works well as it causes us to picture and
hear exactly what is happening. Words such as: Plunged , Reel d , Shatter d and sunder d are
used. In stanza five we are told about them leaving the battle Cannon to right of them, Cannon to
left of them, Cannon behind them at this point the writer helps us to feel thankful for what the
warriors did and persuades us to earn a great deal of respect for the fighters as he says: While horse
and hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro the jaws

In understanding the difference of database system from conventional file processing system such
as spread sheet, the following attributes helps to know more about it.
Primary Key:
The unique key which we give to the table and creates relationship with the foreign keys in the
other tables is known as a primary key. It removes the risk of redundancy and duplication of data.
Foreign Key:
Foreign key is the primary key on the other table. It is used to link the table with one another. It
ensures that the record for such transaction is present in the former or master table. Let us see the
following diagram for better understanding
Figure.1.
In the above table, we can clearly see that Customer ID in the tblTimeSheet is connected to the
Customer ID in the tblcustomer. We can also see the One to many and many to one relationships in
the relationship database tables above.
Normalization:
Normalization is the process of organizing data in the relational database. The database is split into
tables and record the required information in the given field. The benefit of normalization is that it
reduces data redundancy and dependency of data. (Brett Considine, 2008)
Computer database:
With the increasing requirements of the business world, software developers came up with the
computerized database solution which has multiple built. Computer database reduces the
replication of the data by storing the data at a central location so that everyone can access it

The Lease And Marketing Plan
uestion1
a)Issue1: who are promoters in Butterfly s case?
The lease and marketing plan failed to expand office space and attract new clients, Butterfly had
cash flow problems and sold to Xco Ltd, Consequently, Butterfly can sue promoters for the
recession of the contracts or damages. In this case, there is five person involved John, Paula,
George, Robyn and Brian. Generally, Emma Silver Mining s case defines a person who is
involved in the creation of a new company is a promoter. John, Paula, George and Robyn
undertook mining project, shared the rental cost and sometimes referred clients, i.e.: they are
promoters as they took active parts in the formation of a company and generated the necessary
share capital to carry on business. For Brian, an accountant providing tax service, does not act
purely in his professional captivity and he agreed to purchase some non voting shares of Butterfly.
This makes him take an inactive position in Butterfly but can receive dividends. The similar facts
in Mandalay s case, RSC leaves the project to Mandalay and also gets profit from the operation,
therefore Brian is a promoter, too. In summary, John, Paula, George, Robyn and Brian, as Butterfly
s promoters, automatically establish a fiduciary relationship with Butterfly.
Issue 2: do promoters owe fiduciary duties to Butterfly? If breached fiduciary duties, who will be
liable for entering into the lease and marketing contracts?
In this case, Robyn and George signed agreements with third

What Is The Qing Dynasty
The Qing dynasty, officially the Great Qing (English /tКѓЙЄЕ‹/), also called the Qing Empire by
itself or the Manchu dynasty by foreigners, was the last imperial dynasty of China, ruling from
1644 to 1912 with a brief, abortive restoration in 1917. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and
succeeded by the Republic of China. The Qing multi cultural empire lasted almost three centuries
and formed the territorial base for the modern Chinese state.
The dynasty was founded by the Jurchen Aisin Gioro clan in Manchuria. In the late sixteenth
century, Nurhaci, originally a Ming vassal, began organizing Banners , military social units that
included Jurchen, Han Chinese, and Mongol elements. Nurhaci formed the Jurchen clans into a
unified entity, which

Acculturation In Children
Previous studies showed participants were recruited from a charter school in Houston, Texas,
between 2005 and 2009 and have revealed that higher levels of acculturation are related to obesity in
Latino/Hispanic adults. Conflicting findings exist regarding this relationship in children, and little
is known about the impact of acculturation on children s success in pediatric weight management
programs.
The purposes of the study were to (1) examine the relationship between acculturation and
overweight/obese weight status and (2) determine the impact of acculturation on the changes in
weight status among overweight/obese children 12 and 24 months after having participated in a
weight management intervention.

Richard Wagner Music Analysis
Music is the most universal of all languages. Without words it can break a strong man into tears,
reduce a brave woman to terror, and turn the most high strung to a state of peace. Unfortunately, the
worth of music in today s society tends to be decided by its perceived popularity, rather than its use
of technique and emotion. This is one of the many reasons Richard Wagnertends to be
underappreciated. Despite his masterful compositions and development of many imperative
techniques, much of his music is listened to by few and appreciated by fewer. However, that does
not diminish any of what he has done for the world of music, and the Romantic Era. Richard
Wagner is the most influential composer of the Romantic Era for his use of leitmotiv, command of
the orchestra, emotional expression in music, and contribution to the romantic notion of
nationalism. The camera zooms in on the protagonist, surrounded by enemies. They re fighting with
everything they have, and despite the odds are succeeding. A few simple notes, and everyone in the
movie theater knows the villain is about to enter the room the stakes are higher than ever. This is an
example of leitmotif, an important musical tactic that the modern Western world has Wagner to
thank for. Leitmotif is a short theme associated with a specific character or situation. Wagner
developed the technique, and used many of these in his operas (Fuller). This technique has become
very popular in film, musical theater, and

Summary Of The Alchemist
1.Throughout this story, the author structured the plot in a very fulfilling manner. The plot is
constructed so that all the events that occurred are deeply connected to one another. Each of the
characters experiences correlates with their past actions and will affect the outcomes they will
receive later on in the story. A great example of this would be Santiago s encounter with the King
of Salem when Santiago was on the brink of giving up his personal legend. Santiago s encounter
with the King was the inspiration and wisdom he needed in order to set out and follow his lifelong
dream. Since most of the story revolves around Santiago s journey, it is clear that this considerable
event is the basis of The Alchemist s whole storyline. Another excellent example that proves this
would be when Santiago met the alchemist while traveling in the desert. This happened as a result of
Santiago s ability to read and interpret omens, which he learned from the King of Salem. While
with the alchemist, Santiago gained a more profound understanding on Alchemy, Personal Legends,
and the Language of the World. A large portion of the message the author wanted to pass on to the
readers occurred during Santiago s travels with the alchemist. This influential event in the story
eventually led to Santiago fulfilling his Personal legend, which was the main intention of the story,
ever since its exposition.
2. I highly agree with this statement which says that as people age, pursuing our lifelong

taking them to the train yard so semis can pick the up and take them to stores. Train conductors
also help us travel by driving the trains. Train conducting sounds like a fun job because you get to
travel to a lot of places.
History of Train Conducting Train conducting began by being a transportation system for people in
the 1830 s. In North Carolina conductors had been steamboat captions. This career evolved from
conductors who collected tickets and money. Then in the 1860 s they made freight trains which
hauled coal.

Mirror neurons are neurons that are activated by the actions we take and the actions we see others
take. For example if someone buys a new pair of shoes the neurons are activated but if the same
person sees someone else wearing a new pair of shoes the same neurons are activated. Your brain
subconsciously imagines you taking the actions that others are taking.
This phenomenon is why you cringe when you see someone get hurt. You experience their pain
momentarily and literally feel for them. The same thing can be said when you walk down the
street and see that 3 out of 5 people are using their iPhones. Your brain imagines you having an
iPhone every time you see someone using one. This causes you to want an iPhone more and more
until you have one.
This chapter is applicable to everyone. I think that we all feel like we have to buy something to fit
in at times because everyone else is doing it. It is important for us to recognize when we are doing
or purchasing something because we want it and doing or purchasing something because everyone

The Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Since I was a kid I have been fascinated by the imaginary world where there are magic, mythical
creatures and the freedom of having power to do what you want. My preference was fading until
the movie Beautiful Creatures, a film adaptation for the first novel in the series The Caster
Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. When it hit the theater, I watched it and decided to
read the next novelin the series called Beautiful Darkness .
Published by Little, Brown on October 12, 2010, Beautiful Darkness is a 528 page young adult
fantasy and romance novel. The story continued with the recovering of two main characters, Ethan
Wate, a mortal and Lena Duchannes, a caster. Despite their different species, they fell in lovethe
first time they saw each other at Jackson High School, and confronted many challenges from
Lena s malicious mom, Sarafine Duchannes, and a family curse. Personally, I am a very selective
reader, but it was such a riveting, gripping novel that it only took 5 days to complete. The
combination of the roller coaster love story, the fighting scene between dark and light, and the
adventurous way they conquer love has ranked the novel #3 on New York Times bestsellers.
The novel is told in first person by Ethan Wate. Ethan is a typical 16 year old boy growing up in
Gatlin with his parents until his mom passed away the previous summer. His dad had gone mad
and was sent to a mental hospital in town. He lives with Amarie Treadeau, nicknamed and better

Essay Preparation of 4-Bromoaniline
Preparation of 4 bromoaniline
Introduction
Aromatic compounds tend to undergo electrophilic aromatic substitutions rather than addition
reactions. Substitution of a new group for a hydrogen atom takes place via a resonance stabilized
carbocation. As the benzene ring is quite electron rich, it almost always behaves as a nucleophile in
a reaction which means the substitution on benzene occurs by the addition of an electrophile.
Substituted benzenes tend to react at predictable positions. Alkyl groups and other electron
donating substituents enhance substitution and direct it toward the ortho and para positions.
Electron withdrawing substituents slow the substitution and direct it toward the meta positions.
Aromatic compounds also undergo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Prison Vs Minimum Security Prison
Life imprisonment is any sentence of imprisonment for a crime under which convicted persons
are to remain in prison on unlimited time, traditionally for the rest of their life or if possible until
paroled. State and Federal governments maintain correctional facilities. Prisons are categorized by
levels of security. Minimum security prisons house inmates convicted of non violent offenses.
Minimum security prisons sometimes are surrounded by single fences. Medium security prisons
the inmates are housed in their own cells, but they have more opportunities to leave them.
Medium security prisons are primarily for inmates do have a history of violence. Medium
security prisons have a single fence instead of a triple fence. Medium security prisons are
surrounded with fences wrapped at the top with barbwire. Medium security prisons allow for

Learning Styles And How It Affects My Life As A Student
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I learn. Involve me and I remember ~ Benjamin Franklin.
Learning comes differently to everyone, people can be all types of learners in their own way.
There are many different types of learning styles because all people are different but have similar

The West Wind
Ode to the West Wind The poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley refers to the wind 4 times in the first
section of the poem, although we do not know until the very end of the first section why and what
he wants from the wind. In order to gain the Winds trust and confidence, the speaker comes up with
a couple examples of what the winddid in the past and is capable of. Like driving away the autumn
leaves, placing seeds in the earth, bringing thunderstorms and the death of the natural world, and
stirring up the seas and oceans. The end of the first and third line always rhymewith each other. In
the 1st part the speaker wishes that the wind could affect him the way it does leaves and clouds

Use of Literary Techniques in A Good Man is Hard to Find The confrontation between good and
evil detailed in Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to Find wouldn t be nearly as vivid
without the use of various literary techniques such as similes, personifications, imagery,
foreshadowing, and irony. While all of the aforementioned literary techniques contribute to the
central confrontation, they are also used to create the distinctive tone of the entire account.
Ultimately, the most influential techniques are the meaningful use of imagery and foreshadow
along with the significant use of irony throughout the tale. O Connor uses ... Show more content on

The narrator s tale uses foreshadowing when describing the fine attire of the grandmother. The
grandmother is dressed in a navy blue dress with a small white dot in the print. Her collars and
cuffs were white organdy trimmed with lace and at her neckline she had pinned a purple spray of
cloth violets containing a sachet. (423) While initially this doesn t tell a reader the full story, when
the reader finds the ending to include the unexpected death of the grandmother, one sees that likely
the narrator was likely foreshadowing how at ones own funeral, one is put together just so.
Furthermore, the narrator describes the small cemetery the traveler s pass that contains 5 or 6
graves, which happens to be the same number of occupants in the vehicle. The reader is left to
interpret that perhaps this convincing use of imagery is used to foreshadow the impeding untimely
deaths of grandmother, Bailey, June Star, John Wesley, the mother, and the baby. Irony is perhaps
the most distinct and powerful literary technique used in A Good Man is Hard to Find. The entire
tale revolves around the battle between what is perceived as good and evil. The narrator asks the
reader to see the grandmother as good and the Misfit as

Symbolism In The Raven
Raven or Ghost? Would it be relieving to have a reminder of your late loved one(s) for every
second of every day? Or would it be rather aggravating; having to commemorate that moment
over and over again? The Raven, written by Edgar Allan Poe is a very prominent gothic literature
piece. Having to deal with his long lost love, the speaker is taunted by this raven who
mysteriously appeared one dark and dreary night outside his chamber window. The speaker is
forewarned of his long lost love, Lenore, by the ravenshowing up. A lot of people now a days refer
back to this piece to help them understand loss, and heartbreak. Many writers use birds as symbols
of hope, freedom, and light, but Poe on the other hand, uses the raven as a reminder or... Show more

He opened the door, deep into that darkness peering, long [he] stood there wondering,
fearing...and the only word there spoken was the whispered word, Lenore? (25,28). Having a
little bit of curiosity, and relief, he presumes to think the tapping was his dear Lenore, although,
he only saw darkness. In contrast to that, it s kind of like when people are scared or they are in
the dark and they need comfort, so they think about their happy place to feel safe; the speaker
was thinking about his happy place, Lenore. Furthermore, as the speaker was opening the door,
the poem refers to him as curious and scared. Sort of a sick gut feeling, it has him thinking, what
if Lenore was really here? There is a lot of emotion going on in this scene. For example, have you
ever had to give a speech or talk in front of a humongous audience? That is what he was feeling at
the moment. Before the raven even appears, it already has him thinking about Lenore and if she

Abolishing The Electoral College
The Twelfth Amendment of the Constitution established the electoral college. The founding fathers
made the electoral college as a compromise between election of president by congress vote and
popular vote of citizens (What is the electoral college). With this system, many incidents where the
president hasn t received majority of the popular vote and still became president has occurred and
due to this much controversy around the electoral collegehas occurred. The most recent incident

The electoral college being abolished is very difficult and this has failed each time someone
tired. Keeping the electoral college is also difficult because it has not served its purpose and is
outdated. I believe the best answer to this controversial issue is to reform this system, but
reforming with the National Popular Vote is not very likely. The National Popular Vote seems
impossible because you need small states and you must get votes from every vote. If the
national popular vote ever works to will take years and the road elections have taken we need
this reform as soon as possible. The main factors needed for the reform is that all states will have
a say in how to pick the electoral votes and the size of state shouldn t matter. States should not be
forced to choose a method and no state will feel as if they do not have a say in who represents
them. We must ensure voters feel as if their vote matter, they are heard, and considered within the
government. A reform will also help with the candidates with the most votes within the popular
vote wins the presidential election because we are a country for the people. What the people want
is what they should have. A reform will allow for less controversy surrounding the presidential

Atonement Research Paper
Worship and sin cannot coexist. For example, before the fall, Adam and Eve did not need to
acquire atonement to worship God, but instead lived in the Garden of Eden with Him. The Temple
and Tabernacle were the places where man encountered God, so they served as vital religious
components of Judaism. In addition to atonement, tabernacleand temple, further elements of Old
Testamentworship include scripture, singing, and covenant renewal/remembrance. This essay will
go over Old Testament worship practices and the significance of these practices. Atonement is the
physical ritual conveying a sentiment of repentance. In the Old Testament, atonement was the
method used in order to attain purity and restore relationship with God and the community of
believers through a sacrificial statement. We see this demonstrated in time of the creation and fall,
the patriarchs, the exodus/law/conquest, the kings, and the post exile (Lecture 1, 2016). There are
numerous types of sacrifices that can be found in Leviticus: burnt offering (1:3 17), associated
cereal offerings (2:1 16), peace offerings (3:1 17), sin offering (4:1 5:13) and guilt offering (5:14
6:7) (Peterson, 1993, p.38). The sacrificial system in the Old Testament to atone for unintentionally
and intentionally committed sins and social failures that caused Israelitesto become unclean so that
they can once again join the worshipping community of God (Leviticus 4:20; 5:16 18). These

Mathematics Of The Math For Educators
The fraction lesson that we worked on in class has given me a deeper understanding of fractions
that I did not have before. Fractions have never been a topic of math that I have took a liking to.
They have intimidated me for as long as I can remember. I did not imagine in my wildest dreams
that there was going to come a day that I could understand fractions. Being enrolled in the math for
educators course has contributed significally to this newfound understanding. This class has
taught me a lot of valuable knowledge on how you can make fractions easy and at the same time
fun for yourself and the students you are trying to teach. I learned that fractions can estimated,
they could either be close to almost nothing or zero, close to one half, close to one, and more
than one. Based on that conclusion, students can easily figure out which fractions are bigger,
smaller or equal to each other. There was an example provided in class that talked about Irene
eating pizza everyday and having to frequently call in to tell her doctor how much she had eaten
that day. Irene figured out that instead of telling him the exact amount, she would give him an
estimate. There was a magnetic circle on the board with removal able pieces, from here Dr. Math
took away and added pieces in multiple ways and would ask if it was close to nothing, close to 0,
close to ВЅ, or close to 1. This helped me visualize and understand what she was trying to teach us
on a deeper level. We also learned that when

The Idea Of Being Present
Omnipresence is a trait typically ascribed to God. It is defined as being present everywhere
simultaneously. However, one aspect of this definition that is not as widely agreed upon as the
rest of it is the idea of presence. What is it that philosophers mean when they refer to the
presence of god. The idea of being present is a very peculiar one. in the sense that to physical
objects it simply describes an object being in some sort of confined region of space, however Per
Anselm, when we apply this to a god, an all powerful and all knowing agent, it doesn t make much
sense to say they are at any regions of space in reality, in which the agent doesn t exert his
existence. In a sense the agent exists everywhere yet not wholly at any point in space. This
interpretation.
Furthermore, Thomas Aquinas refines Anselm s theology by introducing the notion of god existing
through his own influence in a different sense of space than that occupied by matter and energy.
This influence includes his omnipotence, omniscience and his creations. This particular explanation
resonates greatly with Anselm s idea of God s existence being unrestricted by space. For all
intents and purposes this influence of God could be seen as something in a fourth dimension that
is unperceivable to simple observations. This would tie into Wierenga proposal that god is unseen
to the world, yet the world is laid bare before god. This idea of god being unseen even transfers
into Aquinas analogy of the king

Iep Meeting Impacts Student Learning Essay
Performance Activity 25: Attending an IEP meeting impacts student learning by how the IEP team
evaluates and determine a student s goals, accommodations, modifications, and which RTI tier the
student will be in. Discussing a student s IEP goals are designed to help the student improve on
areas of improvement and to become successful. The impact on studentlearning when designing
goals is to allow the student to be able to meet their goal and is centered around their needs.
Discussing accommodations and modifications impacts student learning by the type and how
many services the student receives. The type of service/s a student receives impacts how the
student will meet or not meet their IEP goals and impact if student learning is evident. If the IEP
team did not set accommodations and modification services, a student could fall behind, struggle
more in school, and not meet their IEP goals. Deciding which RTI tier the student is at can

Ammon was originally an Aethiopian or Libyan godliness, whose reverence eventually spread all

Americium is a synthetic element, so it must be produced in a nuclear reactor. Americium is made
from plutonium 241, yet this needs to also be made in a nuclear reactor. Uranium 238 in a nuclear
reactor it is hit with a neutron, which makes uranium 239. Uranium 239 has a half life of 23.5
minutes, the uranium goes through beta decay becomes neptunium 239. This neptunium will then
form plutonium 239 via beta decay over two days, this is then bombarded with two neutrons to
become plutonium 241. Plutonium 241 has a half life of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has become a social (as well as a government) expectation to have them installed in your home.
Smoke alarms save lives; without a smoke alarm you are 4 times more likely to die in the event
of a fire. The americium inside the alarm is an alpha and low energy gamma emitter. Alpha
radiation can be stopped by a piece of paper or a few centimetres of air, meaning you could stand
under a raw sample of americium and not be in any danger. Yet, gamma radiation has the
wavelength near that of an atomic nuclei (10 Pico meters) meaning that they penetrated far
more easily. These rays are weak enough not to do any harm, yet are the major factor to the
radiation from a smoke alarm. It has become a misconception that smoke alarms are a threat to
health because of their radioactivity. The radiation emitted from a smoke alarm annually is 9 50
nano sieverts, eating banana releases the equivalent of 100 nano sieverts, the average
background radiation in Australia is 2000000 nano sieverts, to put how little radiation is
absorbed from a smoke alarm. The real problem is only when americium is internalised into the
body, because it is an alpha emitter. It poses a threat to health because even though the alpha
particles themselves are harmless, the speeds they travel give them the ability to break bonds and
ionize atoms, thus causing cancer. When in the body 90% stays in you and the rest is excreted, it
goes to the liver, bones and ovaries or testicles where it has the possibility to cause cancer or birth

Personal Code Of Chivalry Essay
Personal Code of Chivalry Have you ever had an event change your life? When I took my first steps
onto the marching band field for the first time, I realized I had found a place where I belonged. I
quickly realized how the lessons I learned in marching band would become an integral part of my
personal code of chivalrya code that would guide not only my steps on the field but into my
future as well. These three codes are: lead by example all the time, punctuality breeds perfection,
and you can t succeed if you have people do it for you. These codes have become values that
exemplify not only the team member that I have become but also the adult I will continue to be.
Just at Knights of the Roundtable had to uphold a Code of Chivalry rules to live by so do
members of marching band. A critical one of these rules is to lead by example. This means that
no matter what, someone is always around to observe your leadership. If people need help and
you are doing nothing to help them, they remember. If you walk away with a job undone, they
remember. If you choose to build people up to help them reach their potential, they remember. Be
the leader that shows their life code through example. There are other personal codes of chivalry as
well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In marching band, the director puts it more bluntly: To be early is to be on time, to be on time to
be late, and to be late is to be dead. Although we may chuckle at the final part of the statement, it
rings true. You should always be early so that you can start whatever you need to accomplish on
time. If you get there on time, you won t start on time, which means you are running late. Not
exactly a way to lead by example, is it? If you are late, you have essentially killed off your goals of
accomplishing what you wanted. It leads to the destruction of your first code of being the leader
always. Show up on time and strive to be the perfect leader of your

Dispersion strengthening usually design in nuclear power plants , hypersonic aircraft , and space

Gender Bias Essay
Gender bias, also known as sexism, is a full of attitudes, laws, taboos, preferences, and behaviors
that differentiates and discriminates against either sex. These may be a position of which male
dominance and female subjugation in the modern society. It could also be a form of sexual
stereotypes between men and women, these are commonly experienced in employment versus
other positions. A final place that discrimination is faced is the academic environment, the
female to male ratios are not in sync in certain programs and courses because of this and it is
pressuring men and women to not go into certain fields and do what they love and please. Most
advertisements on Television, magazines, newspapers, online ad s, use a charged sexually
image with a female as the star. Women are to be a pleasure for men, and nothing else. Many
people have different opinions on genders and sexuality and that is okay, but sometimes you just
need to keep them to yourselves. I was walking through Walmart with a friend the other night,
and we turned the corner to go down an aisle and they were walking towards us. As we
approached them, they moved out of the way, so we could get through. There were 5 male
specimens, around the ages of 20 24, two white, one Hispanic, and two black guys. Most of
them were very tall, both white guys were thin and lean, the Hispanic guy was short and lean,
and the two black guys were tall and thick. All five of the guys dress in upper class clothes such
as Nike, Adidas, Under armor. As I observed these guys, they were in a group of friends. They
were walking according to race, two white guys in the front, and then the Hispanic guy was in the
middle, and following him was the two black guys. They were very respectful when we turned the
corner and let us go through, as we passed them they went back into their formation. Two white
guys in the front, and then the Hispanic in the middle, and the two black guys in the back. I also
observed that they were having separate conversations among themselves. As it appeared to me, it
looked like they were just socializing and spending time together, and goofing around. They could
have been shopping but none of them had anything in their hands at the time that we

Analysis Of Louise Gluck s Poem Threshing
In this journal entry I will be discussing Louise Gluck s poem Threshing. Louis Gluck centers her
poem around the simple day in day out lives, that is themselves talk about the way we sometimes
refuse to change our own lives, while the poem uses the sun as an element as the endless loop
that is life and how we keep it the way it is. Threshing s main element is the sun. In many ways, as
you read the poem, you can see that the sun can be seen as the main character in the poem. It
dictates the working men s work, their timeof relaxing, how long they are alond to feel free during
their time or relaxing, when they must go back to their stressful home life and when they must
return back to work as though it is an endless in escapable loop... Show more content on

They wake up, go to work, work the full day, come home, and deal with their seemingly difficult
families. They don t search for a better way of life even though they drink and are displeased
with how their home life is. They seem pleased with their work. It is uncomplicated, like them.
They do the physical work, get paid, and go home. The displeasure doesn t come from their
working life, but from the displeasing wives they live with. They don t seem to seek better
women to be with. They stay with the woman they are unhappy with and use their work as an
escape instead. It is possible that they create their own stress with their own inner issues that
they project as the women being the root of it, pointing the finger away from themselves so they
will never have to go through the process improving themselves. They are unable or unwilling to
change or work to improve their lives which, in total, leave them stuck in an endless unchanging
loop much like the rising and setting of the sun. In all, Louise Gluck s poem Threshing talks
about more than the rising and setting of the sun, and the Picasso painting of the working day
ofg these men. The poem implies the connections of the patterns we keep ourselves in if we aren t
open to change and self improvement, and the endlessness of it as time passes. If we aren t able to
find all the little ways to be happier we will always be stuck in a loop of misery no matter where
we are or how many days

Resistance To Persuasion
What are people attitudes when they are resistance to change? According to Zuwerink Devine
(1996) mentions that although there has been plenty of research done on persuasion, few have
focused on the thoughts and behavior when resistance occurs (Zuwerink Devine, 1996). Everything
in our everyday life from TV, to radio, to the wide web prevail in using persuasionto affect the
choices we make. In order to set a compass to understand and evaluate resistance to persuasion, we
divide it the two processes of persuasion: peripheral route and central route. Zuwerink Devine
describe them as affective and cognitive processing (Zuwerink Devine, 1996). In order to
understand resistance, they had to think about what exactly is considered a strong... Show more

There are those individuals that strongly hold true to those beliefs and those who feel uncertain
towards their beliefs. Swann, Pelham and Chidester s (1988) research attempted to change the
beliefs of those individuals that resist (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). They constructed
questions which remained consistent with the beliefs of the individual but more towards an
extremist point of view (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). They expected the individuals how
had a high certainty in their beliefs would be more resistance towards the more extreme questions,
therefore changing their beliefs in the opposite direction, momentarily (Swann, Pelham and
Chidester, 1988). The first study was to demonstrate the contrast between standard questions on
women s roles versus the extreme questions and the control group was given unbiased questions
(Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). The study resulted in a weak correlation for low certainty
believers would change with standard questions nor, high certainty believer changed for extreme
questions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). The second study was to study the dimensions of
the individuals change in thought. Were the changes in beliefs reported from the previous study
significant to change their entire view on women role s or did the individual agreed with changing
their beliefs because they were aware or concerned of how they would appear to others if they had
agreed to those extreme questions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester, 1988). In the end, their research
was sufficient in concluding that individuals with low certainty beliefs are easily persuaded;
individuals with high certainty beliefs can momentarily change their belief and thus be persuaded
with paradoxical questions that shock their self perceptions (Swann, Pelham and Chidester,

Effects Of Treaty Of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was signed by Germany and the allied powers, which consisted of the
United Kingdom, France, Italy, and the United States, on 28th June 1919, in the hall of mirrors,
effectively ending World War One (WW1) after an armistice of seven months . This treaty
established the League of Nations and decided the repercussions that Germanywould have to pay
for instigating the war. Some of these repercussions were demilitarization, losing ten percent of its
overall land and other financial obligations. These repercussions humiliated Germany and turned
the allies against themselves. This paper will focus on how the Treaty of Versailles

Meaning that this treaty was based on what the allies thought Germany should pay without letting
them have any say in the overall result. This treaty was put together by the big three, Britain,
France and America. Other allies were hardly involved and no defeated states were included,
making the Treaty of Versailles a treaty among the allies, not between Germany and the allies.
There were originally plans to include Germany but seeing how the treaty was hastily put together
and the allies were having a hard time compromising amongst themselves the idea to include
Germany in negotiations was soon forgotten. This complicated matters since there was not a sense
of defeat among the German people because no soldier had made it into Germany unless that
soldier was German or a prisoner of war and some thought their army to be undefeated . It just
worsened the relationships between Germany and the rest of

Industrial Workers During The Gilded Age
Similar to the farmers during the Gilded Age, industrial workers combatted poor working
conditions, child labor, low wages, and long hours by forming labor unions and organizing
strikes, ending as a massive failure. Early in the industrial era, there was no minimum wage,
leaving it up to the factory owners to set the rate at which their workers were to be paid. Some
owners did not pay their employees in cash but in company scrip which could be redeemed at the
company store. For example, in Pullman, Illinois and in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the towns were
owned by corporations, the Pullman Palace Car Company and the Hershey Company respectively,
so their workers would receive vouchers to spend at the company store instead of hard cash.... Show

Initially a fraternal organization providing social events, sporting competitions, and education
for working men and their families, the Knights of Labor soon advocated for the creation of
cooperatives where members would serve as worker owners who have input on the running of
factories in hopes of making changes for the better of the working man. The Knights of Labor
believed that the alarming development and aggression of aggregated wealth, which, unless
checked, will inevitably lead to the pauperization and hopeless degradation of the toiling masses
could only be stopped through the unification of labor . The Knights were open to all producers
including skilled and unskilled workers and owners as well as women and African Americans.
Bankers, doctors, liquor manufacturers, lawyers, and stockholders were excluded because of their
supposed lack in productive contribution to society. The union advocated for a national eight hour
workday, the expulsion of Asian workers, the prohibition of immigration from the Far East, and an
end to child labor. The Knights worked to make changes for all workers, regardless of affiliation
with the group, and opposed strikes and boycotts. As the Knights of Labor began to fade away,
another organization arose called the American Federation of

Edward The Elder Research Paper
Very little is known about Edward the Elder s childhood. His exact birth is unknown, but some
say it was around 871 A.D. in Wessex. He was the son of King Alfred the Great and Ealhswith of
Mercia. He was educated at court and his father trained him to be a warrior. Edward the Elder was
married 3 times and had fourteen children.
Edward the Elder became King in 899 A.D. when his father King Alfred died. He was crowned
King on June 8, 900 A.D. He reigned as King from 900 A.D. to 924 A.D. After King Alfred s
death, a rebellion broke out against Edward the Elder. His cousin Aethelwold did not support
Edward as King and he looked to The Norse Kingdom of York as an ally. Aethelwold and his
allies attacked Mercia and Wessex and he was killed at the Battle of Holme. Edward continued to
expand his territory and made peace with the north by 909 A.D. Along with Mercia, his armies
raided the northwest the following year. The West Saxons and the Mercians defeated the Northern
Vikings. Edward the Elder then focused on conquering the Danes. Along with his sister, Lady
Aethelflaed of Mercia, Edward the Elder continued to push the boundaries of Wessex and Mercia
northward. They achieved this with a military strategy using defensive burghs created by their
father. After Aethelflaed died in 918 A.D., King... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

J. L. Austin s Arguments On Gender And Transformative...
J. L Austin claims that all the statements we make are performative. He thinks that language is
not simply there to describe things we see or we want to say, but the language is itself a
performative utterance. For instance, when we say I apologize , we perform an act or when we
get married and say I do , we perform an act. This means that some words in language do not exist
outside of the language world. So, when we actually say those words that have no meaning outside
of the language world, we already do (perform) something and for that, we do not specifically need
gestures or movement. Therefore, what Butler claims and Austin claims are combined, it is
possible to say that genderis itself a performative act when a womansays I am a

A study done by Dr. George Reeves (1942) showed that emotional states play an important role
in the quality of people s eating habits. He studies five obese white women. Dr. Reeves
concluded that (a) obesity was used at a defense mechanism (b) these patterns were sadistic and
masochistic (c) oral satisfaction extended beyond social acceptable forms and (d) obesity was
used to simulate a masculine ideal. This study was limited because he had only five cases of
women, and they were all the same race and around the same age. Hirsch and Morse (1960)
presented a study to relate emotions to obesity and establish correlations between metabolic
findings from the obese patients in their study. They brought 74 patients to the Victoria General
Hospital Outpatient Obesity Clinic. The patients were given a questionnaire that was oriented
around their obesity history. The material from the interview were reviewed for symptoms of
emotional distress such as depression, anxiety, delusions, etc. 27 of the 74 patients were judged to
have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder after the questionnaire was completed. This study however
was unreliable because there was no average weighted people to interview as a control, also the
people in the study were unprepared to think abstractly, so the physician guided them throughout
the questionnaire, which made the data unreliable. Collyer (1974) backed Reeves (1942)
conclusions that women may gain weight as a defense mechanism to protect

Marxist Criticism Is Always Concerned with the Class...
The main aim of Marxism is to bring about a classless society. Thus the reason I chose to study
George Orwell s Animal Farm is because its characters share (originally) this same ambition.
Animal Farm represents the oppressed masses rising up and forming a classless society of their
own. While offering a critique of communismin general, the book also serves to act as a mirror of
Soviet Russia under Stalin. As reflected throughout the text, it was no secret Orwell considered
Russia, and consequently Communism, a counter revolutionary force that would inevitably become
corrupted by greed and power. Indeed, perhaps in order to go further in offering a Marxist reading
of the text, it is necessary to pass judgement on the author and the... Show more content on

Indeed this illusion of democracy is further emphasized when the animals are asked questions by
the pigs; questions to which there can be only one possible reply. In a sense the rhetorical
questions act as a tool to reinforce the false class consciousness:
It is for your sake that we pigs drink that milk and eat those apples. Do you know what would
happen if we pigs failed our duty? Jones would come back! Surely comrades... surely there is no
one among you who wants to see Jones come back? (p.23)
Althusser calls this Interpellation. A process where by a person is made to feel like they have a
choice, when actually the choice does not exist. Peter Barry offers an example: You can have any
colour you like... as long as it s black
Animal Farm can also be linked to another theory. The German philosopher Friedrich Hegel offered
the notion that contrasting ideas can be bring about new situations, this is known as the dialectic.
Thus, a process whereby contradictions are inherent to its structure becomes particularly relevant
when discussing Animal Farm.
Hegel s dialectic was constructed around three key concepts: the thesis, the antithesis and the
resolution. What Karl Marx did was effectively reinterpret Hegel s work and relate it to his own
concepts based on class struggle. Thus, Hegel s thesis becomes Marx s the way

An Globalized World Burden Of Private Investment Is...
Abstract: There is growing consensus among researchers and academicians that in this globalized
world the burden of private investment is increasing over Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Because
of a declining trend in public investment the task of capital formation rests over the shoulder of
private investment and thus FDI playing a leading role in determining the fate of the economy. The
economies receiving more inflow of FDI, are realizing a comparatively high growth and vice
versa. This is also expected to be happen in India. The present paper discusses the relationship
between the inflow of FDI and GDP. It has been found that FDI has a positive correlation with
GDP. the regression analysis between GDP and FDI of different sectors also supported the same
result which shows that FDI inflow in India is playing very important role in determining the size
of GDP.
Key Word: Foreign Direct Investment, Sustainable Growth, GDP, Farm Production
Introduction:
The process of planning in India has always been sensitive to the needs of the poor and the plight
of excluded from its early days. Government of India sought to solve all the socio economic
problems with the help of rapid and sustained economic growth, because our planners were
working with the view that as the size of national income will be high individuals can share more
and vice versa (Hashim, S.R., 2007). Mainly because of this reason economic growth has always
been the centre of objectives of India s Five Year

  • 2. Designated Hitter Essay Designated Hitter Do you prefer a bases loaded double that clears the bases and involves an exciting play at home plate? Or a boring three run homerun where the base runners trot around the bases, while the defense stands around with dazed looks on their faces? Do you prefer stolen bases, squeeze plays, and trying to move the base runners to make something happen; as opposed to a team waiting for someone to hit a homerun? If you answered yes then consider yourself a fan of small ball. The characteristic of a Designated Hitter is the major difference between Major League Baseball s two leagues: The American League and the National League. The American League has many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are not relied upon to hit home runs, drive in runners in scoring position, or help the team win a game with their offense. Older players whose careers and skills are on the decline have a chance to play for an extra year or two. George Brett, Carl Yastrzemski, Paul Moliter, Dave Winfield, Joe Carter, and Eddie Murray were all able to extend their careers as designated hitters. This affects the way players are inducted into the hall of fame. A player with declining physical abilities in the National League will simply be put on the bench and become a substitute. While in the American League, that same player could keep getting the same number of at bats by being switched to the Designated Hitter. As a result, American League players are being inducted into the hall of fame more often because their statistics are aided by the DH rule. American League Pitchers can go deeper into games because they don t need to be lifted for a pinch hitter. American League pitchers can concentrate on just pitching; they don t have to go to the plate and bat. They may be more likely to intimidate opposing batters by aggressively pitching inside and even hit batters without fear of being thrown at themselves, knowing that they personally will not have to enter the batter s box and deal with possible retaliation from the opposing pitcher. The National League has its own advantages because of its lack of a Designated Hitter. Some National League statistics have always been higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Business Intelligence Tools We live in a day and age where Business Intelligence (BI) tools are becoming a standard for businesses. In the past, decision makers gathered data from thick paper reports, long presentations, and other inefficient tools. However, with rapid advancements in technology, especially in the field of Information Systems, decision makers need more sophisticated and efficient tools to make sense of their businesses. Analytical tools are very useful because they allow decision makers to make decisions at every level of business. We are getting to the point where these tools are critical for a firm s advancement and competition. One cannot discuss dashboards without first mentioning the magnitude of today s data. The data is so complex and enormous that it takes so much effort to clean it up before doing anything with it. Data must be scrubbed, checked for redundancy, inconsistency, irrelevance, and finally consolidated. These processes are not a joke; each of them take a significant amount of effort and time. Many BI tools have automated some of these processes. The next step is taking the consolidated data and inputting it into a system to create some sort of meaning. This is quite an obstacle because even if the data can be analyzed and trends identified, it is difficult to convey trends in a meaningful manner ( Oracle International Corporation ). Research shows that humans retain more information when it is provided in a graphical format than when the information is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. 15th Century Rafts Research Paper Remember: Stay in the raft! Louis, a medium built man reminded our tour group as his matted mane swept across his chiseled face. The tour group consisted of my family of five (from a small town in northwest Minnesota) who were up in southwest Idaho for a sun drenched summer family vacation and an engaged couple who lived just a quarter tank away from the area. Although the 1,000 mile plus distance, we appeared to be part of the same familytree, all with our sweet latte hair glistening in the sun. The branches especially extended when we had our picture taken in our black, ridiculous wetsuits and our blaze orange helmets. Finally. It was finally time for us to venture this water rushing obstacle. Earlier that day we arrived one hour before our planned departure. A beaten up boxed bus, rustier than an old tetanus nail, picked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bumps and bruises emerged from these 15th century rafts (probably the same ones Christopher Columbus owned). While looking like a sixth grade project, the black patches worked like Band Aids patching up the mustard rubber base. The rafts comfortably held eight people, even with the extra luxuries. The Lays Sour Cream Onion chips, the 12 pack of Dr. Pepper, and the first aid kit were stored in the waterproof compartments with netting (acting as a security blanket) to prevent items from falling out just in case the raft tipped upside down. This rarely happens though, our instructor frequently reminded us. The rafts will remain sturdy enough to ride across the jagged rocks, yet flexible to maneuver through the rocky maze as flawlessly as an Olympic gymnast. The sturdy structure was meant to keep our white water adventure as safe as possible. After about 45 minutes of intriguing instructions, we finally departed. I hopped into the raft as I felt the cold water seep through my water shoes. Once everyone was secured into the raft and life vests bolted on, we headed down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay about Buck versus Bell Buck versus Bell During the early twentieth century, the United States was enduring significant social and economic changes due to its transformation into a commercial and industrial world power. As the need for labor escalated within many urban areas, millions of Europeans emigrated from Southern and Eastern Europe with the hopes of capitalizing upon these employment opportunities and attaining a better life. Simultaneously, many African Americans migrated from the rural South into major cities, bearing the same intentions as those of the European immigrants. The presence of these minority groups generated both racial and class fears within white middle and upper class Americans. The fervent ethnocentrism resulting from these fears, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to the negative eugenics position of the state of Virginia, involuntary sterilizationlaws emphasizing breeding restrictions for society s unfit neither benefit the welfare of the individual nor that of society for several moral and legal reasons. The legal validity of these involuntary sterilization laws would be challenged within the Supreme Court case of Buck v. Bell. In September of 1924, at the age of eighteen, Carrie Buck, an illegitimate daughter of an allegedly feebleminded woman, was admitted to the Virginia s State Colony for Epileptics and the Feebleminded. Six months earlier, the Virginia State Legislature decisively passed their involuntary sterilization bill authorizing the Superintendents of five state institutions to petition for the permission to sterilize inmates. Buck, who had a mental age of nine and an I.Q. of about fifty, had already given birth to an illegitimate child herself, who was allegedly feebleminded as well. At the time, the Superintendent of the State Colony, Dr. A. S. Priddy, petitioned for permission to sterilize this woman for fear that Buck would have more mentally defective children. The statute had provided that each Superintendent needed to receive permission from a special Board of Directors of that institution, who would hear the grounds for sterilization and determine whether or not to follow through on the operation. Priddy faced immense pressure from state officials to petition for sterilization, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poems that I will discuss, are Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Dulce Et Decorum by Wilfred Owen. Wilfred Owen was actually a fighter in the war, where as Alfred, Lord Tennyson only wrote the poem on what he had heard and he had no experience of war. Although both poems are about war, they are a complete contrast to each other, not only in the way they are written but also with the message they deliver. Charge of the Light Brigade delivers a strong message. The theme of this poem is war. The poem gives us the impression that war is glorious and noble. The poem... In stanza two we continue picturing them heading towards war but also picture some drama and shouting. Forward, the light Brigade! Was there a man dismay d? Not tho the soldier knew someone had blunder d . We also imagine them showing great courage, Their s but to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. In stanza three we picture them staring death straight in the eye as they are directly in front of the opposition, Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them although they are in a terrifying situation the writer still makes them sound noble and courageous Boldly they rode well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred. Stanza four tells us about the battle. There is a great deal of onomatopoeia in stanza four which works well as it causes us to picture and hear exactly what is happening. Words such as: Plunged , Reel d , Shatter d and sunder d are used. In stanza five we are told about them leaving the battle Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them at this point the writer helps us to feel thankful for what the warriors did and persuades us to earn a great deal of respect for the fighters as he says: While horse and hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro the jaws ... Primary Key: The unique key which we give to the table and creates relationship with the foreign keys in the other tables is known as a primary key. It removes the risk of redundancy and duplication of data. Foreign Key: Foreign key is the primary key on the other table. It is used to link the table with one another. It ensures that the record for such transaction is present in the former or master table. Let us see the following diagram for better understanding Figure.1. • 12. The Lease And Marketing Plan uestion1 a)Issue1: who are promoters in Butterfly s case? The lease and marketing plan failed to expand office space and attract new clients, Butterfly had cash flow problems and sold to Xco Ltd, Consequently, Butterfly can sue promoters for the recession of the contracts or damages. In this case, there is five person involved John, Paula, George, Robyn and Brian. Generally, Emma Silver Mining s case defines a person who is involved in the creation of a new company is a promoter. John, Paula, George and Robyn undertook mining project, shared the rental cost and sometimes referred clients, i.e.: they are promoters as they took active parts in the formation of a company and generated the necessary share capital to carry on business. For Brian, an accountant providing tax service, does not act purely in his professional captivity and he agreed to purchase some non voting shares of Butterfly. This makes him take an inactive position in Butterfly but can receive dividends. The similar facts in Mandalay s case, RSC leaves the project to Mandalay and also gets profit from the operation, therefore Brian is a promoter, too. In summary, John, Paula, George, Robyn and Brian, as Butterfly s promoters, automatically establish a fiduciary relationship with Butterfly. Issue 2: do promoters owe fiduciary duties to Butterfly? If breached fiduciary duties, who will be liable for entering into the lease and marketing contracts? In this case, Robyn and George signed agreements with third ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Qing Dynasty The Qing dynasty, officially the Great Qing (English /tКѓЙЄЕ‹/), also called the Qing Empire by itself or the Manchu dynasty by foreigners, was the last imperial dynasty of China, ruling from 1644 to 1912 with a brief, abortive restoration in 1917. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China. The Qing multi cultural empire lasted almost three centuries and formed the territorial base for the modern Chinese state. The dynasty was founded by the Jurchen Aisin Gioro clan in Manchuria. Acculturation In Children Previous studies showed participants were recruited from a charter school in Houston, Texas, between 2005 and 2009 and have revealed that higher levels of acculturation are related to obesity in Latino/Hispanic adults. Conflicting findings exist regarding this relationship in children, and little is known about the impact of acculturation on children s success in pediatric weight management programs. The purposes of the study were to (1) examine the relationship between acculturation and overweight/obese weight status and (2) determine the impact of acculturation on the changes in weight status among overweight/obese children 12 and 24 months after having participated in a weight management intervention. • 16. Richard Wagner Music Analysis Music is the most universal of all languages. Without words it can break a strong man into tears, reduce a brave woman to terror, and turn the most high strung to a state of peace. Unfortunately, the worth of music in today s society tends to be decided by its perceived popularity, rather than its use of technique and emotion. This is one of the many reasons Richard Wagnertends to be underappreciated. Despite his masterful compositions and development of many imperative techniques, much of his music is listened to by few and appreciated by fewer. However, that does not diminish any of what he has done for the world of music, and the Romantic Era. Richard Wagner is the most influential composer of the Romantic Era for his use of leitmotiv, command of the orchestra, emotional expression in music, and contribution to the romantic notion of nationalism. The camera zooms in on the protagonist, surrounded by enemies. They re fighting with everything they have, and despite the odds are succeeding. A few simple notes, and everyone in the movie theater knows the villain is about to enter the room the stakes are higher than ever. This is an example of leitmotif, an important musical tactic that the modern Western world has Wagner to thank for. Leitmotif is a short theme associated with a specific character or situation. Wagner developed the technique, and used many of these in his operas (Fuller). This technique has become very popular in film, musical theater, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Summary Of The Alchemist 1.Throughout this story, the author structured the plot in a very fulfilling manner. The plot is constructed so that all the events that occurred are deeply connected to one another. Each of the characters experiences correlates with their past actions and will affect the outcomes they will receive later on in the story. A great example of this would be Santiago s encounter with the King of Salem when Santiago was on the brink of giving up his personal legend. Santiago s encounter with the King was the inspiration and wisdom he needed in order to set out and follow his lifelong dream. Since most of the story revolves around Santiago s journey, it is clear that this considerable event is the basis of The Alchemist s whole storyline. Another excellent example that proves this would be when Santiago met the alchemist while traveling in the desert. This happened as a result of Santiago s ability to read and interpret omens, which he learned from the King of Salem. While with the alchemist, Santiago gained a more profound understanding on Alchemy, Personal Legends, and the Language of the World. A large portion of the message the author wanted to pass on to the readers occurred during Santiago s travels with the alchemist. This influential event in the story eventually led to Santiago fulfilling his Personal legend, which was the main intention of the story, ever since its exposition. 2. For example, before the fall, Adam and Eve did not need to acquire atonement to worship God, but instead lived in the Garden of Eden with Him. The Temple and Tabernacle were the places where man encountered God, so they served as vital religious components of Judaism. In addition to atonement, tabernacleand temple, further elements of Old Testamentworship include scripture, singing, and covenant renewal/remembrance. This essay will go over Old Testament worship practices and the significance of these practices. Atonement is the physical ritual conveying a sentiment of repentance. In the Old Testament, atonement was the method used in order to attain purity and restore relationship with God and the community of believers through a sacrificial statement. We see this demonstrated in time of the creation and fall, the patriarchs, the exodus/law/conquest, the kings, and the post exile (Lecture 1, 2016). There are numerous types of sacrifices that can be found in Leviticus: burnt offering (1:3 17), associated cereal offerings (2:1 16), peace offerings (3:1 17), sin offering (4:1 5:13) and guilt offering (5:14 6:7) (Peterson, 1993, p.38). Fractions have never been a topic of math that I have took a liking to. They have intimidated me for as long as I can remember. I did not imagine in my wildest dreams that there was going to come a day that I could understand fractions. Being enrolled in the math for educators course has contributed significally to this newfound understanding. This class has taught me a lot of valuable knowledge on how you can make fractions easy and at the same time fun for yourself and the students you are trying to teach. I learned that fractions can estimated, they could either be close to almost nothing or zero, close to one half, close to one, and more than one. Based on that conclusion, students can easily figure out which fractions are bigger, smaller or equal to each other. There was an example provided in class that talked about Irene eating pizza everyday and having to frequently call in to tell her doctor how much she had eaten that day. Irene figured out that instead of telling him the exact amount, she would give him an estimate. There was a magnetic circle on the board with removal able pieces, from here Dr. Math took away and added pieces in multiple ways and would ask if it was close to nothing, close to 0, close to ВЅ, or close to 1. • 33. The Idea Of Being Present Omnipresence is a trait typically ascribed to God. It is defined as being present everywhere simultaneously. However, one aspect of this definition that is not as widely agreed upon as the rest of it is the idea of presence. What is it that philosophers mean when they refer to the presence of god. The idea of being present is a very peculiar one. in the sense that to physical objects it simply describes an object being in some sort of confined region of space, however Per Anselm, when we apply this to a god, an all powerful and all knowing agent, it doesn t make much sense to say they are at any regions of space in reality, in which the agent doesn t exert his existence. In a sense the agent exists everywhere yet not wholly at any point in space. This interpretation. Furthermore, Thomas Aquinas refines Anselm s theology by introducing the notion of god existing through his own influence in a different sense of space than that occupied by matter and energy. This influence includes his omnipotence, omniscience and his creations. This particular explanation resonates greatly with Anselm s idea of God s existence being unrestricted by space. For all intents and purposes this influence of God could be seen as something in a fourth dimension that is unperceivable to simple observations. This would tie into Wierenga proposal that god is unseen to the world, yet the world is laid bare before god. This idea of god being unseen even transfers into Aquinas analogy of the king ... Iep Meeting Impacts Student Learning Essay Performance Activity 25: Attending an IEP meeting impacts student learning by how the IEP team evaluates and determine a student s goals, accommodations, modifications, and which RTI tier the student will be in. Discussing a student s IEP goals are designed to help the student improve on areas of improvement and to become successful. The impact on studentlearning when designing goals is to allow the student to be able to meet their goal and is centered around their needs. Discussing accommodations and modifications impacts student learning by the type and how many services the student receives. The type of service/s a student receives impacts how the student will meet or not meet their IEP goals and impact if student learning is evident. If the IEP team did not set accommodations and modification services, a student could fall behind, struggle more in school, and not meet their IEP goals. Uranium 239 has a half life of 23.5 minutes, the uranium goes through beta decay becomes neptunium 239. Smoke alarms save lives; without a smoke alarm you are 4 times more likely to die in the event of a fire. The americium inside the alarm is an alpha and low energy gamma emitter. Alpha radiation can be stopped by a piece of paper or a few centimetres of air, meaning you could stand under a raw sample of americium and not be in any danger. Yet, gamma radiation has the wavelength near that of an atomic nuclei (10 Pico meters) meaning that they penetrated far more easily. These rays are weak enough not to do any harm, yet are the major factor to the radiation from a smoke alarm. It has become a misconception that smoke alarms are a threat to health because of their radioactivity. The radiation emitted from a smoke alarm annually is 9 50 nano sieverts, eating banana releases the equivalent of 100 nano sieverts, the average background radiation in Australia is 2000000 nano sieverts, to put how little radiation is absorbed from a smoke alarm. The real problem is only when americium is internalised into the body, because it is an alpha emitter. It poses a threat to health because even though the alpha particles themselves are harmless, the speeds they travel give them the ability to break bonds and ionize atoms, thus causing cancer. They do the physical work, get paid, and go home. The displeasure doesn t come from their working life, but from the displeasing wives they live with. They don t seem to seek better women to be with. They stay with the woman they are unhappy with and use their work as an escape instead. It is possible that they create their own stress with their own inner issues that they project as the women being the root of it, pointing the finger away from themselves so they will never have to go through the process improving themselves.
