AUDIENCE RESEARCH

 We were given a task at which e had to ask fellow pupils whether
a series of questions about music videos.
 Below are the results from 13 different people.
 Overall there are 9 questions at which are all related to music
videos.
 This task gives us an insight into different audiences at what
people prefer.
From this we are shown they
everybody answered this
question at that the people
we asked 12/13 were 16-19
years old. This lets us know
that this is research is
heavily shown for this
particular age group and
that we cant assume it is
the same for every age
group. However this then
gives us a detailed view of
this particular age section.
Over 70% of people said
that they preferred a music
video with a narrative over
a performance based
music video.
This shows us that people do
watch music video channels
and the most popular
channel is MTV with around
25% saying that they watch
MTV the most. In the other
section mainly the feedback
was that people do not
watch music channels but
instead watch them online
through YouTube as they
don’t like watching music
videos on TV and use the TV
for watching programmes
and films.
As all 13 people answered
this question this lets us
know that they all listen to
the radio for music. The
most popular radio station
is Radio 1 with over 45% of
people listen to that the
most. Then in second place
is Kiss FM.
A large majority of people for
this question normally watch
music videos on YouTube
online. With only 1 person
watching TV as there main
source. This could be due to
the forever going technology
at which is now accessible
and it is now easier to watch
YouTube videos online and
the music videos that you
choose because the TV is on
a playlist which you cannot
change.
This shows us that over 65%
of the respondants prefer
high tempo music videos
compared to slow tempo.
However this could be
due to the age group at
which are answering the
questions.
This question received mix
feedback however with a
slight majority of people
download there music from
Youtube which is illegal.
A large majority of the group
of answerers do not think a
good music video will want
you make to buy the track.
Many people just like to watch
music videos however they
decide to buy a track
because they like the music
rather than the music video.
Just over 40% was for
both(male and female in
music videos) and for just
female artists. Therefore the
majority of people like
watching women in music
videos. Although there is some
people who just like watching
male artists at 20%.

  • 10. A large majority of the group of answerers do not think a good music video will want you make to buy the track. Many people just like to watch music videos however they decide to buy a track because they like the music rather than the music video.
  • 11. Just over 40% was for both(male and female in music videos) and for just female artists. Therefore the majority of people like watching women in music videos. Although there is some people who just like watching male artists at 20%.
