Music video survey results
I have created a survey with 10 different questions about music videos to gain an
understanding of what people like to see. I have asked a range of different questions and
uploaded my survey to Facebook where I posted the link, allowing people to access the link
and fill in the questions depending on their personal taste.
1. For question 1, my results have told me that 85% of the people who answered my
survey were female. This means that I should aim my music video mostly at females,
with elements aimed at males as 15% of the opinions in my results come from them.
This means that I will take into consideration what the majority of my audience want
as the result is unbalanced.
2. Question2has toldme thatover 70% of people whotookmysurveywere betweenthe ages
of 13 to 19. Over20% of people were overthe age of 36 and fewerthan10% were between
the ages of 20 and 35. Thiswill persuade me toaimmymusic videomostlyata teenage
audience,withafewelementsbeingaimedatan olderage.I will paymore attentiontothe
opinionsof the youngergenerationasthe majorityof resultsinmysurveycome fromthem.
3. Question3has toldme thatthe majorityof people,wholistentomusic,enjoywatchingthe
musicvideosthatgo withthem. Around 63% of people stronglyagreedthattheyenjoy
watchingmusicvideoswithonly8% sayingthatdo not.Thistellsme that musicvideosare
veryimportantandpeople enjoywatchingthem.Thiswillpersuademe toputa lotof effort
intomy videoinordertomake it as successful andenjoyable aspossible.

surveyhave a verymixedresponse.35% of people statedthattheirfavourite genreof music
isindie;thisissomethingthatIwill be able totake intoconsiderationwhencreatingmy

people saidthattheirfavourite genreisRnBand rock; thismeansthatI am likelytoavoid
thisgenre as itis unpopularamongstmytargetaudience.

a story/hasa narrative andone whichisperformance based.Thismaypersuade me to

metaphorical/abstractionstyle asaround29% of myaudience statedthatthisissomething
that theyenjoy.
6. Overhalf of mytarget audience have statedthattheywatchmusicchannelsonthe
televisionatleastonce aweek,whetheritbe daily(14%),1-2timesa week(29%) andonce a
week(21%).Thistellsme thatmanypeople enjoylisteningtomusicas well aswatchingthe
musicvideosthatgo withthem.Onthe otherhand,35% of people chose the optionof
‘Other’,thiscouldallude tothe factthat manypeople maynotwatch musicchannelsonthe
televisionatall andare notparticularlyinterestedinwatchingthe musicvideos,orpreferto
watch themonotherwebsitessuchasYouTube,whichIwill findoutlaterinmy survey.
