2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. Question 1 : What is your age?
From the 23 responses collected 19 of
the participants were from between
the ages of 16-20, of the 4 left they varied
between older age groups. This means that
the feedback for the rest of the questions
will be coming from this age range which
could be the reason for the data collected.
3. Question 2 : What is your gender?
This question was to gather information
on the gender of our participants so we
could see which gender preferred the
music genre we have chose to do. This
way it helped to gauge our target
audience. 14 of the 23 respondents were
Male and 9 of the 23 were female meaning
the majority of our responses were from
male participants.
4. Question 3 : What is your favorite music genre?
The most popular music genre chosen
was Grime which is English hip hop as 10
Of the respondents chose it. I think it was
the most popular due to the fact the majority
of respondents are male and between the
age of 16-20, this demographic is most likely
to choose this as their favorite music genre
as it is the main audience for this music genre
and are the most avid fans of Grime.
Dance and Romance genres were closely
2nd and 3rd favorites this is encouraging as we
were looking at doing a dance song at the start
but have now opted To do a love song as this is
still a popular choice.
5. Question 4 : What is your favorite music video of all
time?
For this section we got 21 responses
from the 23 respondents each provided
what was their favorite music video.
From their answers we could then view them
and see if we could draw any aspects from
these videos to include in our own. A
reoccurring favorite video was Another Love
by Tom Odell which was chosen twice.
6. Question 5 : Do prefer music videos that tell a story or
videos that just show the singer?
The questionnaire results show
that our respondents prefer a
music video that tell a story as a
substantial amount of 13 answers
preferred this. Knowing this Is
encouraging because we are
creating a music video that has a
narrative alongside
Tom Odell's song.
7. Question 6 : How often do you watch music video?
From our responses the most
popular answer was ‘not very often’
this is disappointing as it means that
most people would not view our
video. This is most likely because
many people just
listen to music on their phones and
other pieces of media. However,
those that watch them all the time
probably view them on YouTube
which is easily accessible for most
people.
8. Question 7 : Do you like it when the music video matches
the lyrics of the song?
The results of this question
show that our respondents
prefer it when music videos
match the lyrics of the song. We
are going to have to go against
this with our video because we
are using the lyrics to come up
with a narrative alongside the
song. As it is another love it will
be based around this theme.
