Questionnaires
For the data collection, I sent out 20 questionnaires to students in our school. I
received all questionnaires within a day of sending them out. The target audience I
wanted to learn from were young adults, so I handed out the questionnaire out to
sixth formers and some students in the years 10 and 11. The students were
randomly selected so that there is no bias in the results.
Age
This pie chart shows that majority of students
are teens with more of them being in their late
teens. Based on these results, I will make sure
that my music video is more tailored to them as
they are target audience.

times the amount of males compared to
females. Based on these results, I will
make sure my music video is more

people prefer to watch a music
video that is a performance type.
Based on these results and my
previous research on hip-hop music
videos, I will make sure to use high
elements of this music video type
preference and hip-hop music video
conventions.

not have a significant impact on whether
the audience shares or views a music
video.
11/20 said they didn’t care about sharing content/viewing shared
content and would rather search for music videos on YouTube.
4/20 mentioned the viral success of the song/artist, as well as their
interest in sharing with others.
5/20 either gave no answer or answered something that was
irrelevant to the question.
How do you find out about an artist releasing a
music video?
The majority of responses state that
they hear about an artist releasing a
music video through social media.
Social media is in trend and is a good
tool to spread the news of new songs
and music videos.
Would you be more interested to watch a music
video if it was part of a movie soundtrack?
These results show that the majority of
people would not be more interested in
a music video if it was part of a
soundtrack.
Do you think collaborations help an artist reach a
wider audience?
These results show that the majority of
people believe that collaborations help
an artist reach a wider audience.
14/20 mentioned that the collaboration
would increase the fanbase and give the
artist more recognition.
6/20 either gave no answers or made
irrelevant points.
Are there any areas that are considered unsuitable
for a music video? If so, what are they?
The results show that nudity and
violence are deemed the most
unsuitable for a music video. Based on
these results, I will make sure that the
music video follows avoids these areas.
