C.D also symbolized the character Cyrano because he is intelligent and brave. C.D s
intelligence is shown when he talks to Roxanne about astronomy and his bravery
is shown when climbs the houses. In addition to being intelligent and brave, C.D
is easily insulted when someone talks bad about his nose, just like in the play. In
the beginning of the movie, people make fun of C.D s abnormally large nose and
C.D beats them up. When a guy tells C.D he has a big nose C.D tells him twenty
other ways he could have insulted his nose. Another element the director
incorporated in the movie was the fact C.D and Chris are firefighters, which is
similar to them being soldiers in Cyrano. Besides being a firefighter, Chris
symbolizes Christine because he is the new to the town, he is handsome, and
unintelligent. Also, Chris and C.D team up to win Roxanne s heart and C.D writes
the letters to Roxanne for Chris. When C.D tries to tell Chris what to say through
the earpiece, the earpiece stops working and Chris ends up speaking without C.D s
help. Similar to the play, Chris ends up screwing his relationship with Roxanne
when he doesn t use C.D s words. C.D ends up fixing the relationship when he talks
to Roxanne during the night in the shadows and just like the play Roxanne
