Why I Do Not Travel
Travelling means to visit different places, experience their culture and society, and meet new people.
People travel to find pleasure and adventure from these experiences. But, there are some people who
do not travel or do not like to travel. I am one of them. From one point, I am a traveler because I came
here to study. Although I am going one place to another place and visiting with different society and
culture, I have travelled for education, not for adventure or excitement. I have been in Bulgaria for
almost two years, but I have not travelled yet during that time, except for going back to my home
country. Why do I not travel? There are three reasons that explain why I do not travel; money,
transportation and food. First of all, the travelling costs too much to me because I am a student,
especially international student. Thus, I have not enough money to travel. Also, living in Bulgaria
costs bit more than that in my hometown. Therefore, I try to spend less. When I went to Sofia, I spent
money on the expenses of transportation and food, nothing on the other activities such as visiting the
local museums. The less money I spend on the travel, the less satisfaction and pleasure I will get from
that. Secondly travelling starts by planning destination, buying ticket of the bus, train or plane and
preparing luggage, etc. But sitting on the plane or bus for many hours is not comfortable at all. Also,
you will get tired and bored. I have spent eleven hours

Two Ways The Ted Talk Overlaps
In many ways, the Ted Talk overlaps with the psychology textbook. Two ways that it overlaps in my
option is cognitivism or cognitive psychology and social influences. To begin with, let s start with
cognitivism. Cognitivism is the framework for understanding behavior. In this school of psychology,
they focused on the aspect of thinking; they believed that thinking affects behavior in powerful ways
(Lilienfeld et al., 2016, p. 9). This relates to the Ted talk because while Jill was talking about her
experience while having the stoke, she says that her mind was going back and forth between reality
and La La Land while that was happening her behavior changed as well. In her La La Land she was
not thinking rationally, she was a carefree human

EUROZONE CRISIS
The Eurozone in 2012
EUROZONE CRISIS: Eurozone fracture in 2012
This paper outlines a plausible scenario in which the Eurozone fractures in 2012. Events are unlikely
to follow the path precisely as described, given the complexity of the problem and the number of
variables which are continually changing. That said, we feel 2012 is unlikely to end with all the
current members still being part of the Eurozone. Mapping a break up scenario should help readers
understand how fragmentation could occur and therefore assist businesses contingency planning. To
this end the paper highlights some key events and when they are due to take place. It also identifies
some key indicators to monitor which are likely to dictate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second quarter, Italy suspends its debt repayments following the collapse of the Monti
administration and differences with the IMF and other
Eurozone leaders.
The ECB is likely to increase liquidity provision and work with Eurozone governments to protect their
banking sectors. However, Eurozone leaders remain unable to agree crucial policies in time to stem
the contagion from Greek and Italian sovereign non payments. Portugal and Spain, unable to access
emergency bailout funding and with no recourse to private investors, suspend their debt repayments
and also announce their intention to leave the Eurozone.
From early 2013 onwards, politics in Europe becomes more polarised and nationalistic. Those nations
withdrawing from the Eurozone impose protectionist measures, in part to limit the loss of their foreign
reserves. Amidst much acrimony, the EU begins the process of scaling back to a free trade agreement.

Last night London was startled by a crime of incredible ferocity and rendered all the more notable by
the high position of the victim. Sir Danvers Carew, a MP, was murdered not far from the Thames
River on the alleyway close to the Billy Goat Tavern. This happened at around eleven until two in the
night. He was clubbed to death with a heavy cane. There is no apparent motive for Sir Carew s
murder.
An eyewitness is the maidservant, which sustains to have seen the whole scene from her bedroom
window. Her description of the suspect Mr Hyde, the murderer, was: particularly small and wicked
looking. Another source was Mr Hyde s maid. She lived in Mr Hyde s in Soho. By talking to her we

The Paradox of Sacrifice Essay
The wind was blowing, leaves were falling and floating around. There was a slight chilly breeze upon
my neck. The sun was lowering down, it was the time of Autumn. I was outside, pressuring strikes
with my sword, practicing Kendo. Kendo is swordsmanship. Soon, I became tired and was drenched
in sweat. I decided to head inside my house, it was covered with the orange sunset light. As I entered,
I took off my dusty equipment, and I saw I had a message. I picked up the phone and read it.
The message said, Your appointment to see your friend at the hospital is at 7:30 PM. I took a peek at
my watch, it was 7:15 PM. I panicked, I didn t know what to do. I quickly ran back to my Kendo
equipment, and placed it in my polished steel cabinet. As I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On a previous championship Kendo tournament, it was the final match. My partner cheered me on. I
was against a student representing China. We locked on each others eyes, and gave a bow to show
respect. The referee raised his flags and we began. We clashed our swords back and forth, but I nearly
hit him to win. The crowd was silent for a moment, and intercom announced that two people died in a
car accident near this location, and described what they looked like. Those people were my parents,
and I was caught off guard. My opponent had a chance to strike me with his sword, but failed. My
partner leaped in and took the hit, she was severely injured and fainted in front of my eyes. Blood
came out of her, her deep red blood was dripping on my palm. I shook her and I screamed out, Please
wake up! Anyone but you can t die! I don t want to have to deal with another death! While I was
shedding tears, they cancelled the championship due to injuries, and they took my partner in the
ambulance.
Waking up unconscious, it seemed I was distracted and smashed myself against a dark oak tree. I had
intense pain in my leg, and when I looked down, I saw it was bleeding. My bicycle must have scratch

Environmental Safety And Reserve Conservation
Recent studies in developed nation have shown that the international matter of greatest apprehension
to people is the environment. Most people are now responsive that long term financial growth, a high
standard of living, and good public health cannot be continued unless we take improved care of the
world s environment. Businesses often unenthusiastically arc opening to reflect this awareness with

Bank of America accepts, as a nucleus corporate liability, the need to care for commerce activities

Industrial uprising began in Britain in 1700′s, and spread to the rest of the globe, in start with the
United States. The use of technology and factories led to heap manufacture, which in turn led to the
development of various environmental hazards. The effects on the atmosphere would only be seen
visibly years later.
The use of factories and bulk manufacture has led to a depletion of certain usual resources, leaving the
environment everlastingly smashed. One illustration of this depletion is deforestation, which is the
clearing of jungle trees for use in production. When the trees are cleared, the animals in the jungle also
become uprooted.
The lack of vegetation is only compounded by the trouble of carbon emissions.

A Muscle Relaxant
Introduction: A muscle relaxant is a pharmacologic aid use to alleviate tense muscles. It can be
obtained as an over the counter drug or medication that requires a doctor s prescription. I will be
presenting the value of muscle relaxant to overstimulated muscles with a neurologic involvement such
as spasticity, and how it can help mitigate and revive the person ability to recapitulate his capability to
perform his/her activities of daily living. Spasticity is described as an abnormal muscle tone that is
velocity dependent, and it is usually correlated with an upper motor neuron lesion with an association
of hyperactive deep tendon reflexes (Nair Marsden, 2014, p. 1). There are numerous neurologic

An interesting study of Orsnes, Sorensen, Larsen, Ravnborg, (2000, p. 247) stated that baclofen has
minimal effect on gait improvements compared to placebo; these patients only received an adequate
dose of the drug that will yield no side effects. The component of the gait that demonstrated a minimal
change is a vertical unsteadiness. The researchers have attributed this change to the influence of
baclofen on the knee extensors and ankle dorsiflexion at the final part of swing phase. Since this study
has a small sample size, and patients did not receive the maximum dose to achieve a good result,
further study in a larger group sample with different variations of dosage may have made this study

Comparing O Brien s The Things They Carried and Ninh s...
Comparing O Brien s The Things They Carried and Ninh s The Sorrow of War
Bao Ninh s The Sorrow of War is a contrapuntal reading to American literature on the Vietnam War.
But rather than stand in stark contrast to Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried, The Sorrow of War
is strangely similar, yet different at the same time. From a post colonialist standpoint, one must take in
account both works to get an accurate image of the war. The Sorrow of War is an excellent
counterpoint because it is truthful. Tim O Brien writes: . . . you can tell a true war story by its absolute
and uncompromising allegiance to obscenity and evil. (O Brien, 42) Bao Ninh succeeds in this
respect. And it was for this reason that the Vietnamese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only were American soldiers well muscled and athletes, (191) but some of them were black.
Whites were not particularly strange, as Vietnam had been under French rule, but blacks must have
been something of a frightening, unfamiliar novelty. This too is reflected in the text. When Kien and
Hoa encounter an American platoon in the jungle, the blacks in the platoon are the first thing Kien
describes, after describing what was not a man, but a tracker dog as big as a calf. (189) And when the
soldiers smoke rosa canina, one of the things they hallucinate is groups of headless black American
soldiers right along with hallucinations about fantastic creatures and extinct animal species. With these
counterpoints to the American views of Vietnamese soldiers, an American certainly gets a different
picture of the war.
Bao Ninh s portrayal of postwar Vietnam also fosters a more objective viewpoint of the war. After the
war, the Americans took their twisted memories back home, to an unscathed country where nearly
everyone had something to go back to. For North Vietnamese soldiers, home was where the horror had
been, and in many ways still was. He is plain in his message: The recent years of war had brought
enough suffering and pain to last them a thousand years. (75) Kien s slow, painful demise is brought
on by the heavy sorrow of war as he is haunted by an eternal past. (88) During the war North
Vietnamese soldiers were but insects or an ant who

Importance Of Airfield Facilities At Washington National...
Airfield Facilities We have now taken a look at the process used to appoint the Board of Directors, and
sources of income. After that is all said and done it is time to take a look at the beating heart of Ronald
Reagan Washington National Airport which includes the airfield, runways, taxiways, and aprons, and
all other facilities involved in operating an airport. This particular airport sits on 860 acres of total
land. Taking a closer look 733 acres are on solid ground while 127 acres reside under water. The
airport has 44 gates, nine of which are located in Terminal A. The remaining 35 are in Terminal B/C.

lighting, non flight related facilities, and surface vehicle control available.
Terminal A opened in 1941 along with the airport. The airport facility was originally 115,000 square
feet. This changed in 1950 when the first major expansion was completed. They extended the south
end of the main terminal by 297 feet, adding 25,110 square feet of total space. As the airport traffic
started to grow, they saw a need to expand even further. The next addition is referred to as the south
finger was added about five years later. The south finger increased the terminal by an additional 9,979
square feet and additionally provided aircraft gates and loading positions that were desperately
needed. Growth in the annual number of passengers continued steadily eventually prompting the
construction of the North Terminal. The North Terminal was opened in October of 1958 adding an
additional 7,264 square feet. Moving forward they opened a 772 foot long enclosed passageway
between the main and north terminals. Terminal B/C was the next major expansion Reagan National
went through. It opened on July 27, 1997 and was one million square feet spread over three levels.
Terminal B/C integrated direct connections to the Metrorail

Apologetics Reflection
Apologetics is not just about learning to defend yourself. It requires you to know the Truth about the
Bible and why you believe in it. Apologetics also teaches you to set a foundation for your belief and
how you could defend yourself from worldly perspectives. As stated in 1 Peter 3:15, Instead, you must
worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian faith, be ready to
explain it. we must be able to know how to defend ourselves. Throughout the course of the first
quarter, we were educated many ideas regarding critical thinking, the Bible, and Truth.
Before we began entering the studies of apologetics, we discussed about the definition of apologetics
and its origins. Apologetics comes from the Greek word Apologia , ... Show more content on

When I had to answer questions by analyzing information and bringing points together in a test, that s
critical thinking. You don t need to be in college or be asked hard questions to use it. We should use it
many times over our life as a student and when out of school.
Near the end of the quarter, we began discussing about Truth. We answered what exactly Truth means
as seen in the Bible. When bringing up Truth, there are certain rules you must abide by, or else it may
not actually be true. Aside from all the rules, the concept of Truth is simple. Despite this fact, people
still continue to deny the fact that there is absolute Truth. Truth about reality should always be
knowable, as stated in John 8:32 You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. There are
certain rules to Truth which decerns it from being an absolute Truth or a complete lie. Truth must
correspond to the object it s talking about, correspond to reality, and also accurately express an actual
state of affairs. Truth is also always absolute no matter what. It can t be somewhat be true somehow.
Unfortunately, there are many common mistakes people make when trying to find absolute

The purpose of this research paper is to examine the many different angles of a controversial topic
such as physician assisted suicide or euthanasia. Physician assisted suicide (PAS) is when a person
kills him or herself and the doctor supplies the means knowing what the intention is. The doctor
prescribes a medication to their patient in lethal doses. This allows the patient to choose when they
want to die. They can take the pills at home with friends and family present if they wish or they could

They created the Death with Dignity Act that would allow mentally competent yet terminally ill
people to choose to die. The Death with Dignity Act was originally passed in 1994. The law was
immediately challenged in court and prevented from going into effect. As the court cases proceeded,
the Oregon Legislature decided the public did not know what it was doing when it voted and decided
to put the issue back on the ballot in 1997. Oregon Death with Dignity won every court challenge and
on October 27, 1997, the U.S. Supreme Court denied a hearing to challengers of death with dignity,
allowing the law to go into effect. In November 1997, the voters of Oregon overwhelmingly voted to
support the law. Support for the law has continued to increase since its implementation in 1997.
Supporting PAS
There are some people who believe that PAS is merely another decision that a human being should be
able to make about their own life. It is peaceful and easy to prepare for. When a person chooses to die
it is most likely because they are terminally ill. Meaning, they have a disease that will only allow them
to live for a limited amount of time. Some elderly people want to have the option of PAS also.
Sometimes, they grow old and their bodies cannot function the way that they used to. This is
depressing and discouraging to an older person. They cannot see living the rest of their lives not being

The Role Of Harpies In Greek Mythology
In Greek mythology, Harpies are terrifying creatures that can do anything to daunt the people on
Earth. They are interesting in that they have the chest and head of a woman on the body of a bird.
People are always able to see the Harpies once they disobey the gods on Mount Olympus. Harpies are

The Aspects Of Social Conformity In The 1950s
Conformity in the 1950s America in the 1950s had many social norms that everyone was expected to
follow. If one did not follow those rules they were seen as crazy and often identified as insane. These
social norms were important to follow if one wanted to lead a happy and successful life. To be
successful and happy meant one had to be married, have children, a job that could pay the bills, and a
house. However, what happens after one has everything and is successful according to society? In
Revolutionary Road, Frank and April suffer because they follow society s expectations on what a
happy life should be but even after doing so, they are not truly happy. Men were expected to be the
breadwinners while women were expected to take their place at home as housewives. The Wheelers
kept true to that so that they could be happy and successful. Frank has an office job in New York while
April is a housewife; They have two children and a home in Connecticut. Frank and April are aware of
the standards that one needs to follow to be happy but somehow after they have had to follow those
norms they are not. They both begin to feel trapped and feel like this is what the rest of their lives
would be like. They began to think of ways to escape their lives and thought of ways to bring back
excitement or meaning into their lives.
The life of a man in the 1950s consisted of work and travel to work and home. In the film, Wheeler s
neighbors show us the damage that men had to face when having to work all day. It hinders the
relationship that men had with their wife and children. Frank and April s neighbor, Shep, shows us this
when he tries to talk with his children. He asks them what they are doing and his kids completely
ignore him. He s not there for most of the day and he does not have the time to bond with his family.
Not only is their relationship with their kids damaged but their relationships with their wives. Frank
notices that his life no longer has the adrenaline that it once used to. Frank says to April, I was full of
blood, scared, but full of life . In this scene, Frank explains to April what he felt while he was out at
war. He felt the thrill and adrenaline of something real. He looks for things that would

Cardiovascular System Vs Respiratory System Essay
The human body is not simply just an organism, or just body. The body is comprised of many different
systems. Although these systems all work together with one common goal, to maintain homeostasis,
perhaps there are not two systems that work more closely together than the respiratory system and the
cardiovascular system. Although the entirety of each body system has a generalized common goal,
these two systems share a relationship. The both focus on providing oxygen to the blood, and then
ensuring that this richly oxygenated blood is circulated throughout the body. The whole human
organism would fail if it lacked just one of these systems, and the individual systems would fail
without each other. To fully understand how the two work together, one must fully realize the
functions of each system apart. The respiratory is not one of the biggest systems of the body, but it is
one of the most commonly known. However, this system is not simply for breathing or the lung
system . In fact, these notions only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two most significant to the coexistence of both systems being the pulmonary artery and
pulmonary vein. The pulmonary artery carries the blood lacking in oxygen into the lungs (Bailey).
From there, the oxygen from the air sacs goes into the blood vessel, while the carbon dioxide comes
out (How Does Oxygen Get Into the Bloodstream) . Upon this moment, the organism exhales
releasing the carbon dioxide. Meanwhile, the now oxygenated blood travels throughout the body,
which especially important for the muscles. Oxygen is required for the muscles to preform any sort of
strenuous activity. Faster paced breathing and an elevated heart rate aren t random symptoms of a
good work out. The blood must quickly transfer oxygen to the muscles. This is so that the muscles
have the ability to create adenosine tri phosphate (ATP) which carries

The Factors And Roles Of The Stanford Prison Experiment
Not everything goes according to plan. At Stanford University, an experiment was conducted by a
psychology professor, infamously known as the Stanford prison experiment. The research was based
and held in a prison setting with 24 recruited individuals who were then appointed as either inmates or
guards, the operation was planned for two weeks as well as rules that were meant to be followed.
What would be the fundamental purpose of experimenting with this, why did the head researcher want
to conduct this experiment, how did the use affect the outcome? Why would someone run an
experiment like this? The purpose was to understand the development of norms and the effects of
roles, labels, and social expectations in a simulated prison environment (Zimbardo, 1971). With the
exercise, the researchers were able to investigate how realistic the 24 individuals fit into their roles.
With the participants playing into their roles it would hopefully demonstrate a specific analysis of the
situation, as well as the difficulties and hardships between guards and prisoners within United States
Navy and the United States Marine Corps (Zimbardo,1971). With the funding of the experiment
coming from the U.S. Office of Naval Research, the participants were paid $15 per day. The money
compensation gave the individuals a reason to take this experiment seriously because back at that time
$15 would approximately be $90 in 2017. (Banks,1973). Although the experiment had multiple

Henry IV And Falstaff
Between Henry IV, Hotspur, Hal, and Falstaff, each man expresses different attitudes towards
cleverness and judgment, courtesy and class, mightiness and honor. While each character embodies
these qualities in different magnitudes, these inclinations affect their decision making, their leadership,
and their relative success in achieving each of their respective goals. Out of the four characters,
Falstaff is identified most strongly as a clever figure. Not only is he a master at banter and wordplay,
he is also adept at navigating conflict and using his circumstances to his advantage. For example,
Falstaff is shrewdly opportunistic when he is assigned to lead a group of soldiers in the battle of

despite Hal s proclivity for spending time outside of the courtiers noble circle, he also values honor.
This quality is evident in Hal s first soliloquy, where he explains his intention to reform and redeem
himself as a mighty nobleman. Later, Hal s attitude towards honor is reaffirmed when he promises his

The Chile Of Peru And Chile
For the fault zone that I chose to research for this project, I chose the Peru Chile Trench, also known
as the Chile Subduction Megathrust and as the Atacama Trench. It is called that because the area
between Peru and Chile is called The Atacama , and such was the plate named. The Peru Chile trench
is located along the western coast of Peru and Chile. It marks the zone where the Nazca plate is being
subducted beneath the South American plate and is approximately 3,666 miles long. (Britannica, p.1)

Therefore, there are many seismic events that have taken place on our geologic timeline and at the
same time shaped our historic timeline.
The most recent large scale earthquake along the Peru Chile Plate was the 16 September earthquake,
which happened in 2015. It measured an M 8.3, one of the largest on record. 5 were killed, and over 1
million were evacuated from greatly affected areas. However, compared to other earthquakes that have
taken place in Chile, this one was moderate.
In 2010, an 8.8 Mw earthquake shook Chile. It was approximately 200 miles southwest of Chile and
was approximately 375 miles long. A 2014 study attributed the quake to immense water pressure
located between the two plates. The region was stricken by strong aftershocks for months after the
quake, many of a magnitude of 5.0 Mw or greater.
The Tsunami that took place after the initial quake was caused by a portion of seabed rupturing
upwards, and displacing a large portion of the water being displaced. This water traveled at 450 miles,
at 8 feet tall, to the Chilean and Peruvian coast. Early viewers of the tsunami later reported waves
being up to 10 feet tall. This rupture was believed to be caused by 2 unusually dense pieces of seabed
that had been previously undetected by scientists, and consequently caused a large displacement of
water. There were also small ruptures of seismic

Side Effects Of Zoloft
Zoloft is an antidepressant used to treat depression. Depression is defined as a serious mood disorder.
Depression can affect how you feel and handle daily activities. Depression is diagnosed by a person
having symptoms for at least two weeks. Zoloft may improve a person s mood, energy level, appetite,
sleep, and help restore interest in their life (Halter, Varcarolis , 2014).
Zoloft belongs to a class of drugs knows as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Zoloft helps
to restore the balance of serotonin to the brain. Serotonin is a chemical messenger (neurotransmitters)
that carry signals between brain cells. Zoloft affects chemicals in the brain that maybe unbalanced and

Or perhaps it is (d) a request for a motive to be moral.
(2) If Alf s question is of type (a) or (c), it s silly. Nothing could be more obvious than that Alf has a
moral reason to be moral. It s a plain fact that being moral is the moral thing to do it s the option
justified from the moral point of view and this is clearly a reason for Alf to be moral.
(3) If Alf s question is of type (b) or (d) it s unreasonable; hence we need not bother with it. Moral
philosophy aims at rational persuasion, not at generating motives to act. Nor does it aim to justify
morality in terms of prudence, law, custom, or etiquette. Indeed, such a justification is impossible. But
we should not be disturbed about this. The moral life is not called into question by showing that it
does not reduce to a concern for custom, prudence, etc., any more than prudence is called into
question by showing that it does not reduce to a concern for morality.
(4) Thus, Alf s question is silly or unreasonable. We need not bother with it.

Wireless Security And Vulnerability In The Wireless Network
Vulnerability in the Wireless Network
Rafael Reccy
Seminole State College
Abstract
Wi Fi can be found anywhere in this day in age, you can walk into almost any establishment and you
ll be sure to find their Wi Fi, accessible from anywhere within their spaces. Each data packet being
transmitted through the air, whether containing private, sensitive or insensitive information, is
available for an attacker to capture. To fight against this, there have been some standards that have
come out through the years to guard and protect data, such as WPA. All standards have been created to
replace the preceding one due to vulnerabilities found in the engineering of them. Still to this day, not
every standard is fully secure, attackers still find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, there is one of the vulnerabilities that is pretty much impossible to guard against, DoS like
Molta points out, Other problems are looming, the most pernicious of which are DoS (denial of
service) attacks. While DoS is a fact of life on all networks, it s worse on wireless networks because
not only do you need to guard against attacks at Layer 2 and above, you re also extremely vulnerable
to physical layer attacks to the medium (Molta, 2002, p. 18). In this essay, some vulnerabilities will be
looked at that can affect Wi Fi home users as well as businesses that implement wireless networks
because both types of networks can be affected by the same types of intrusion or disruption attacks.
Even though this paper is about vulnerabilities, it is important to point out that wi fi networks can still
be operated safely with a high level of security in place.
Wireless networks are considered vulnerable when an incident occurs that exploits the capability to
perform the desired requirement of maintaining performance and concealment of data. Most
vulnerabilities happen because of the science behind a wireless network, the fact that it uses air as a
medium makes it harder to protects because the environment of air is not stable and when it comes to
delivering sacred information you must be on

Jacqueline Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy
What is an ethical leader? There is many definitions for it and there is many of them out there. One
example of an ethical leader is Jacqueline (Jackie) Kennedy, through the way she holds herself and
fights for what she believes in. One definition of an ethical leader is someone that makes the effort to
be a good role model for those around them, and actively tries to make changes based on their moral
values.
Jacqueline Kennedy was born to Jack and Janet Bouvier July 28, 1929, with one younger sibling. In
1940 her parents got divorced due to her father s constant infidelities. Her mother got remarried to
Hugh Auchincloss, giving Jackie an additional two younger siblings. Being the oldest, she was given
the responsibilities of taking care of them and doing housework.
Jackie was sent to Chapin School for girls in Manhattan where she found interests in art, sculptures,
and horses. In 1944, Jackie attended Miss Porter s School in Farmington, Connecticut, where she
decided that she did not want to be a housewife, as it was too dull and unrewarding. She then attended
Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. In 1949, she transferred to the University of Paris, France,
where she became fluent in French and gained a deep understanding and appreciation of the history
and literature. Jackie then transferred to Smith College in Massachusetts, and then to George

How Did Abraham Observed The Tenets Of Judaism
Judaism Judaism began about 4000 years ago with the Hebrew people in the Middle East. Abraham,
who was a Hebrew man, is considered the father of the Jewish faith because he promoted the main
idea of the Jewish faith: that there is only one God. At the time a lot of people in the Middle East
worshipped many gods. The Jewish tradition, Abraham founded which was later named the Jewish
religion in the land of Israel, around 1800 BCE. The Torah says that Abraham came to know that there
was only one God, and he abandoned idol worship. The Talmud (Yoma 28b) relates that Abraham
observed the tenets of Judaism. Judaism is strictly monotheistic meaning that we have only one deity.
The Creator has one true name which is represented by the letters YHVH in English. Judaism was
founded in 2500 BC in Mesopotamia. It was discovered by Abraham. He promoted the central idea of
the Jewish faith, that there is only One God. Judaism is in Israel, Europe, and USA. However, in the
past Judaism has spread both by active proselytism and by migration from Judah. The Babylonian
Exile was the first event that helped spread Judaism, as many Jews chose not to come back to
Jerusalem. By the time of the Roman Empire, there was already a substantial Jewish presence in
Babylon. Jewish Sacred Texts are The Tanach, Mishnah, Talmud and Midrash. Judaism is the oldest of
the Abrahamic religions, and its primary sacred text is the Tanach, or the Jewish Bible, which is
composed of the Pentateuch (Torah), the Prophets (Nevi im) and the Writings (Ketuvim). Judaism as it
is found in the United States today is divided into four religious movements represented by synagogue
membership. A small percentage of Jews identify with extremist, rightwing, cult like movements (such
as Hasidism) which had their origins in eighteenth century Europe. A large percentage of Jews,
identify themselves as Jewish though they belong to no movement. Some of these Jews do join
synagogues from time to time, but others prefer to remain secular for ideological reasons. Mixed
among both secular and synagogue based Jews, there are others who center their Jewish identity on
Zionism. The commonly known words of the Thirteen Attributes are, Adonai, Adonai, El Rachum V

AP Biology Lab Report: How the Amount of Motor Oil Affects Hatching Viability of Brine Shrimp
Eggs
Question
How does the amount of motor oil in the environment of a brine shrimp affect the hatching viability of
brine shrimp eggs?
Hypothesis
If hatching viability is affected by the amount of motor oil in the environment of the brine shrimp
eggs, then when the amount of motor oil is increased the hatching viability will decrease.
Experimental Design
The independent variable was the amount of motor oil in 2% salt solution because it is the variable
that was being tested and purposefully manipulated. The dependent variable was the hatching viability
of the brine shrimp tested (which was calculated by adding the number of brine shrimp swimming at
24 hours to the number of brine shrimp swimming at 48 hours, and then divided by the total number
of eggs initially placed in the petri dish). The control group was a petri dish of brine shrimp in 30 ml
of 2% salt solution with no motor oil. The constants, or variables that need to be controlled, were the
salinity percentage of the salt solution (2%), the amount of salt solution in each petri dish (30 ml), the
total time the brine shrimp were left in the petri dishes (48 hours), and the frequency of when the brine
shrimp were checked (every 24 hours).
Procedure

Essay about Drug Testing For Missouri Welfare Recipients
On 30 January 2011, the Missouri House of Representatives passed a bill and sent it to the senate that
would require drug testing for those receiving state Temporary Assistance for Needy Family (TANF)
funds. Funding from food stamps, medicare, and public housing would not be affected by this bill
(Keller House). According to Columbia Tribune reporter Rudi Keller, the bill is very similar to the
Arizona law which is the only other state that tests welfare recipients. Missouri and Arizona would use
a questionare and interview which would determine which applicants to test. The two states are also
similar in their caseload of 45,017 people on assistance in Arizona and 42,885 in Missouri. The state

According to Keller s article, the law would protect children. It would discourage parents from using
drugs which would create a better home environment. It would also ensure that state money would be
used for supporting families, not recreational drugs (Keller). Rep. John McCaherty said The bill will
show the state expects TANF recipients to be responsible with public money. (Qtd. in Keller). The
idea behind those that support this legislation is that the state is responsible for ensureing that taxpayer
s money doesn t ultimately end up buying illegal substances and drug testing is an effective means to
ensure this. As with all political issues, there are those on the other side of the fence. People oppose
this legistlation for various reasons: from constitutionality to cost. According to a study done by the
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), welfare recipients are no more likely to use drugs.
Furthermore, placing a requirement to be tested may place a stigma upon those receiving welfare
which would be counterproductive to their relief (Drug Testing). An editorial by Henry Waters in the
Columbia Daily Tribune, the bill is the government attempting to punish a class of people who are
presumed worthless (Waters). Another reason people oppose this legislation is the cost. The ACLU
study reports the average cost of a drug test at $42 per person. There are less invasive and cheaper

Keystone Habit Research Paper
Keystone habit is a change of a behavior that can form other positive habits. It creates a chain reaction
on the way we live our life. Based on Habits as Change Levers by Daniel Denison and Levi Nieminen,
the authors give an example on how changing keystone habit can affect other habit and be
advantageous. To start with, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is an authority that
manages all public transportation in New York City and surrounding areas including Long Island. This
includes a high volume subway system, which carries an average of 5.4 million passengers per day
(1.6 billion per year) (Denison and Nieminen 26). The subway service not only helps the New Yorker
to escape the traffic congestion, but also tourist to get around the city. So, it was crucial for MTA s
crews to make sure the subway system is operating without stop and safely. However, the subway
system must still be repaired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This unprecedented decision was made when the subway system experienced several high profile
safety incidents. It involved a worker fatality and a blizzard that left some passengers stranded for 10
hours without food, water and heat. As a result, a program named FastTrack was introduced to identify
and shut down the whole track s section for maintenance from 10 p.m. until 5a.m. of the following
day. This allows the maintenance crews to access the tracks, signals, cables and other rail components
without any interruption. At first, the public outcry over the new subway service because they never
accustomed to any interruption to the service. However, the program has given many benefits over
time. It was reported that it has improved productivity, saved money (estimated savings of $16.7
million in 2012), cut accident rates nearly in half, and increased train reliability by nearly 5% (26).
These achievement is clearly achieved because MTA has changed its keystone habit, which is running

Child Support And Development Of Children And A Standard...
In today s society most families are female headed households. The upbringing and development of
children and a standard of living adequate for the children s development is a common responsibility
of both parents and a fundamental human right for children and asserts that the primary responsibility
to provide such for the children rests with their parent. (United Nations Convention on the Right of the
Child, 1992). Children have a right to a decent start in life. This right is the obligation of the father and
the mother to support the child s financial and emotionally wellbeing. With the involvement of both
parents, children get the chance they need and deserve to reach their full potential.
Understanding child support and the duties and procedures can be a very difficult process for both
parents involved. Child support is a payment of money for a child under the age of 18 which has been
ordered by the circuit court within their jurisdiction. There are various approaches to calculating the
amount of child support award payments some jurisdictions consider multiple sources of information
when determining support, taking into account the income of the parents, the number and ages of
children living in the home, basic living expenses and school fees. Support payments may include
monthly or weekly, bi weekly collections of payments for expenses of medical, dental, and other

The Foreign Miners in the American Gold Rush Essay
The Foreign Miners in the American Gold Rush
One Saturday night, a mob of masked men, who numbered forty to sixty, approached a small house.
Arriving at the house, they dragged two slumbering men from their bunks and hustled them from the
house, without even allowing them to put on their clothes, and started to kick and beat them. One of
the invaders drew his pistol and shot at one of the victims. The bullet pierced the body of the man and
inflicted a terrible wound. Both men who were attacked that night died. This event occurred in Rico, a
camp in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado on May 13, 1882. The two Chinese miners that inhabited
the village were kicked, cuffed, and dragged over the ground by the hair of their heads, clubbed ...

Marshall at Sutter s Mill in 1848. The discovery of gold was one of the most remarkable events in the
history of the American West because it stimulated worldwide migration to the area. The Gold Rush
began as soon as the news about the discovery of gold spread throughout the country. The rush
exploded within just a few years and continued to attract numerous people for the following decades.
The rushes occurred in many places: In the 1850s, it came to Virginia City, Nevada, and Cherry Creek
Colorado. In the 1860s it came to Montana and Wyoming. And, in the 1870s, it came to the Black Hill
of South Dakota (Hine Faracher 197). Randall E. Rohe indicated that the major gold rush in the
American West attracted from 10,000 to 100,000 people per year (Dirlik 3). The census in 1848 shows
26,000 people lived in California, but in 1860, the total rose to 380,000 (Nugent 63).
It was the opportunity for employment that attracted workers from foreign countries, as well as
America, to the mines of the West. The mining industry was the largest source of jobs in the world at
that time. Many mines were in need of laborers; everyone could get a job if they wanted to. The sense
of adventure also attracted many people (Milner 206). The fortune seekers who had a desire to be rich
by digging gold clustered in mining camps in the west.
However, being a miner in the California gold Rush was a tremendously challenging experience. The
life in the tunnels was not always exciting.

Fighting Stereotypes Of Asian Americans
Fighting Stereotypes of Asian Americans in the Media According to the Center for Disease Control
and Prevention website in 2013 Asians made up for 4.8 percent of Americas population with 14.7
million individuals. That population is expected to increase to 40.6 million, or 9.2 percent of American
population by the year 2050 and consist of over 30 different ethnicities. Teresa Mok of Purdue
University stated in 1998 that Despite their increasing numbers and heterogeneity, little reflection of
the diversity within Asian America is seen in mass media images (p. 186). In addition to a lack of
ethnic diversity often times Asian Americans are left out of film and television altogether. Media
Action Network for Asian Americans (2015) recently criticized Sony pictures for their white washed
movie Aloha. Even though the film is set in Hawaii the majority of the cast is white with very little
representation of Asian Americans or Pacific Islanders. MANAA (2015) Founding President Guy Aoki
said, 60% of Hawaii s population is AAPIs, Caucasians only make up thirty percent of the population,
but from watching this film, you d think they made up ninety percent (n.p.). While unsuccessful in
representing the ethnic diversity of Asian Americans, or not representing them at all, the dominant
group controlled media has been successful in portraying them in very stereotypical manners.
Since first immigrating into the United States, Asian communities have lived under stereotypes. These

The Death Of A Costumed Adventurer
The death of a costumed adventurer often leads audiences to contemplate the significance of it. It is a
prevalent issue in which these characters appear to sacrifice their lives for the possibility of a greater
good. In Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Watchmen, masked hero are subjected towards death due to
their actions and the actions of others. Whether it is the actions of a friend, stranger, or foe, the
untimely deaths of Rorschach, Nite Owl I, and The Comedian proves a costumed adventurer s death
leads to the loss of humanity. Walter Joseph Kovacs, or more commonly known as Rorschach, is a
costumed vigilante whose death plays a significant role in Watchmen. Rorschach is depicted as a
disturbed man who believes there is always a right and wrong, even if it means breaking the law to
bring a higher justice in the world. His belief deems prevalent by defying the Keene Act of 1977,
which outlawed any type of vigilantism by costumed adventurers, except for those who worked
exclusively under the United States government like Dr. Manhattan and The Comedian. By breaking
down the components of Rorschach s mask, there will be a deeper understanding of what the
mysterious Rorschach represents in Watchmen. Rorschach s viewpoint of the world is often
interpreted through his mask, which is black and white... [and is constantly] changing shape...but not
mixing...[with] no gray [areas] (Gibbons, Moore 188). It was made of two layers of latex with viscous

Types Of Generating Income And The Availability Of The...
Due to the various forms of generating income and the availability to generate it in various
incorporated organizations within these different governments, legislation has tried to enact tax
treaties with them. A tax treaty is an agreement made between two governing bodies, allowing
individuals to determine what income producing items are considered taxable, in which country, and
whether or not the primary country will allow a credit for foreign taxes paid or if they will be
subjected to double taxation ( tax treaty ). Tax treaties, were developed with the purpose of avoiding
double taxation on worldwide income as well as tax evasion by resident individuals earning income

If the Internal Revenue Code allows for a deduction in the computation of taxable income of a resident
of South Africa, it is also allowed in the convention. Also, the tax burden of the resident of the
contracted state may not increase beyond the domestic burden; if it is not considered taxable within
the internal law, it may not be considered a right to tax based on the convention. There is no obligation
for the taxpayer s liability to be determined by the convention between the United States and South
Africa. The concept of the most beneficial outcome without the attempt to integrate the best aspects of
both options must be considered; however the choice must be made to use one of the two and not a
mixture. The treaty allows for the United States to tax its residents and citizens as if there were no
treaty in place. The reference to citizens includes former citizens or long term residents whose loss of
their status was for the purpose of tax avoidance; they would be considered a citizen for tax purposes
if they were a lawful permanent resident in 8 of the previous 15 taxable years. However, the US has
protected its citizens from the benefits in the taxable areas of associated enterprises and pensions and

C1 C2 are gases at room temperature. C3 C4 are volatile liquids. C5 are solids at room temperature.
Amines have a lower melting / boiling point compared to alcohols as they have hydrogen bonding
between N H. Nitrogen has a much lower electronegativity than oxygen so the hydrogen bonding of
alcohols are much stronger resulting in higher melting / boiling points.
Small molecule amines are soluble in water. As the alkyl chain increases the solubility decreases.
Primary amines can react with a haloalkane to form a secondary amine via a substitution reaction.
CH3NH2 + CH3CH2Cl (heat) CH3NHCH2CH3 + HCl
The secondary amines can react with a haloalkane to produce a tertiary amine.
For alkanes, alkenes, haloalkanes, amines and alcohols draw a mini reaction scheme that shows the
formation and reactions that they can produce. Schemes should identify that alcohols are oxidised to
aldehydes, carboxylic acids and ketones depending on the starting material and type of reaction used.
Systematic name is alkanals but aldehydes is used as it means alcohols dehydrogenated. Aldehydes

Nordstrom s Competitive Advantage
Nordstrom has consistently outperformed every other company that operates in retail, ranging from
Target to Macy s. Shares of stock in Nordstrom have increased by 110% over the past five years, and
future projections show that the earnings trend will continue. Nordstrom has been able to create a
distinct competitive advantage for many reasons that make their offerings and retail positioning
strategy unique. By instituting an outlet business that reaches a different target market, offering a
quality product supported by exceptional customer service, and dedicating itself to an omnichannel
channel, Nordstrom has differentiated its offering and earned a competitive advantage that has allowed
it to become the dominant retailer. First, Nordstrom s creation of an outlet business, Nordstrom Rack,
has been a key element in establishing a competitive advantage for the firm. Nordstrom has positioned
itself as a relatively high end retailer, with expensive prices for high quality items. This has allowed it

the presence of outline retailers that emphasize convenience and choice. Target offers little in the way

enjoy. Nordstrom ultimately hopes that their outlet stores will serve as a bridge for young consumers

retailer as a key in the establishment of outlet stores not hurting the

Heritage Command
Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) Archaeologist Dr. George Schwarz was joined by
more than 45 volunteers from nearly a dozen organizations wading through dense vegetation and
sifting through Florida sand Feb. 18 20 in the hopes of finding more clues to a Navy aircraft crash that
happened more than seven decades ago. Osteen resident Rodney Thomas uncovered what appeared to
be a part from an aircraft more than three years ago when he was experimenting with a new metal
detector on his property. After finding dozens of pieces, he decided he wanted to learn about what
might have led to the crash, and perhaps the identity of the pilot. He contacted Scott Storz, a volunteer
at the DeLand Naval Air Station Museum (DNASM), in search of help understanding what he was
finding. One small, two inch square, slightly crumpled piece of metal gave the first significant clue
with a clearly visible engraving: SBD 5. Best known for their superior performance in sinking four

Examples Of A Christ Figure In One Flew Over The Cuckoo s...
Though every period of time, people often find themselves looking for a savior. While most people
turn for Jesus Christ or other religious figures, in the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, by Ken
Kesey, the patients of a strictly run psychiatric ward turn to Randal Patrick McMurphy. Kesey uses
McMurphy to create a Christ Figure, or a character that shows allusions to Christ, in his work. Despite
being a patient, McMurphy finds a way to stand out as a Christ Figure through having his individual
thoughts and actions, rather than shrinking himself to what the ward wants him to be.
Recurringly, authors use direct relations between the new testament and their novel to show proof of a
Christ Figure. Kesey uses events like the fishing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ellis being nailed in this position that Christ was nailed in shows a direct relation to the novel and also
foreshadows to McMurphy, the Christ Figure, one day being lobotomized and taking on Ellis s traits
of immobility and helplessness. Ellis is also described as like a stuffed trophy (Kesey 16), which once
again shadows how McMurphy s story at the ward will end, sitting in the day room with his name next
to him to be used as an example, another trophy for the nurse.
Another direct relation between Jesus and McMurphy is the first time Chief Bromden, a large indian
man who has pretended to be deaf and dumb for over 15 years, speaks. When Chief speaks, he is alone
with McMurphy. McMurphy gives Chief a piece of gum, and this simple act is what gave Chief the
courage to speak. McMurphy demonstrated his ability to listen to people, and this is what truly made
Chief willing to speak to him. At the end of their conversation, Chief found himself wanting to touch
him because he s who he is. (Kesey 222) By this, we can see that Chief feels McMurphy has healed
him and listened because that is who he is. We also see the relation of healing powers through
believing that a touch can heal you from here

  • 2. Why I Do Not Travel Travelling means to visit different places, experience their culture and society, and meet new people. People travel to find pleasure and adventure from these experiences. But, there are some people who do not travel or do not like to travel. I am one of them. From one point, I am a traveler because I came here to study. Although I am going one place to another place and visiting with different society and culture, I have travelled for education, not for adventure or excitement. I have been in Bulgaria for almost two years, but I have not travelled yet during that time, except for going back to my home country. Why do I not travel? There are three reasons that explain why I do not travel; money, transportation and food. First of all, the travelling costs too much to me because I am a student, especially international student. Thus, I have not enough money to travel. Also, living in Bulgaria costs bit more than that in my hometown. Therefore, I try to spend less. When I went to Sofia, I spent money on the expenses of transportation and food, nothing on the other activities such as visiting the local museums. The less money I spend on the travel, the less satisfaction and pleasure I will get from that. Secondly travelling starts by planning destination, buying ticket of the bus, train or plane and preparing luggage, etc. But sitting on the plane or bus for many hours is not comfortable at all. Also, you will get tired and bored. I have spent eleven hours ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Two Ways The Ted Talk Overlaps In many ways, the Ted Talk overlaps with the psychology textbook. Two ways that it overlaps in my option is cognitivism or cognitive psychology and social influences. To begin with, let s start with cognitivism. Cognitivism is the framework for understanding behavior. In this school of psychology, they focused on the aspect of thinking; they believed that thinking affects behavior in powerful ways (Lilienfeld et al., 2016, p. 9). This relates to the Ted talk because while Jill was talking about her experience while having the stoke, she says that her mind was going back and forth between reality and La La Land while that was happening her behavior changed as well. In her La La Land she was not thinking rationally, she was a carefree human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay about Euro Crisis EUROZONE CRISIS The Eurozone in 2012 EUROZONE CRISIS: Eurozone fracture in 2012 This paper outlines a plausible scenario in which the Eurozone fractures in 2012. Events are unlikely to follow the path precisely as described, given the complexity of the problem and the number of variables which are continually changing. That said, we feel 2012 is unlikely to end with all the current members still being part of the Eurozone. Mapping a break up scenario should help readers understand how fragmentation could occur and therefore assist businesses contingency planning. To this end the paper highlights some key events and when they are due to take place. It also identifies some key indicators to monitor which are likely to dictate ... In the second quarter, Italy suspends its debt repayments following the collapse of the Monti administration and differences with the IMF and other Eurozone leaders. The ECB is likely to increase liquidity provision and work with Eurozone governments to protect their banking sectors. However, Eurozone leaders remain unable to agree crucial policies in time to stem the contagion from Greek and Italian sovereign non payments. Portugal and Spain, unable to access emergency bailout funding and with no recourse to private investors, suspend their debt repayments and also announce their intention to leave the Eurozone. From early 2013 onwards, politics in Europe becomes more polarised and nationalistic. Those nations withdrawing from the Eurozone impose protectionist measures, in part to limit the loss of their foreign reserves. The sun was lowering down, it was the time of Autumn. I was outside, pressuring strikes with my sword, practicing Kendo. Kendo is swordsmanship. Soon, I became tired and was drenched in sweat. The crowd was silent for a moment, and intercom announced that two people died in a car accident near this location, and described what they looked like. Those people were my parents, and I was caught off guard. My opponent had a chance to strike me with his sword, but failed. • 11. Comparing O Brien s The Things They Carried and Ninh s... Comparing O Brien s The Things They Carried and Ninh s The Sorrow of War Bao Ninh s The Sorrow of War is a contrapuntal reading to American literature on the Vietnam War. But rather than stand in stark contrast to Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried, The Sorrow of War is strangely similar, yet different at the same time. From a post colonialist standpoint, one must take in account both works to get an accurate image of the war. The Sorrow of War is an excellent counterpoint because it is truthful. Tim O Brien writes: . . . you can tell a true war story by its absolute and uncompromising allegiance to obscenity and evil. (O Brien, 42) Bao Ninh succeeds in this respect. And it was for this reason that the Vietnamese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only were American soldiers well muscled and athletes, (191) but some of them were black. Whites were not particularly strange, as Vietnam had been under French rule, but blacks must have been something of a frightening, unfamiliar novelty. This too is reflected in the text. When Kien and Hoa encounter an American platoon in the jungle, the blacks in the platoon are the first thing Kien describes, after describing what was not a man, but a tracker dog as big as a calf. (189) And when the soldiers smoke rosa canina, one of the things they hallucinate is groups of headless black American soldiers right along with hallucinations about fantastic creatures and extinct animal species. With these counterpoints to the American views of Vietnamese soldiers, an American certainly gets a different picture of the war. Bao Ninh s portrayal of postwar Vietnam also fosters a more objective viewpoint of the war. After the war, the Americans took their twisted memories back home, to an unscathed country where nearly everyone had something to go back to. For North Vietnamese soldiers, home was where the horror had been, and in many ways still was. He is plain in his message: The recent years of war had brought enough suffering and pain to last them a thousand years. As stated in 1 Peter 3:15, Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian faith, be ready to explain it. we must be able to know how to defend ourselves. When bringing up Truth, there are certain rules you must abide by, or else it may not actually be true. Aside from all the rules, the concept of Truth is simple. Despite this fact, people still continue to deny the fact that there is absolute Truth. If one did not follow those rules they were seen as crazy and often identified as insane. These social norms were important to follow if one wanted to lead a happy and successful life. To be successful and happy meant one had to be married, have children, a job that could pay the bills, and a house. However, what happens after one has everything and is successful according to society? In Revolutionary Road, Frank and April suffer because they follow society s expectations on what a happy life should be but even after doing so, they are not truly happy. Men were expected to be the breadwinners while women were expected to take their place at home as housewives. The Wheelers kept true to that so that they could be happy and successful. Frank has an office job in New York while April is a housewife; They have two children and a home in Connecticut. Frank and April are aware of the standards that one needs to follow to be happy but somehow after they have had to follow those norms they are not. They began to think of ways to escape their lives and thought of ways to bring back excitement or meaning into their lives. Although these systems all work together with one common goal, to maintain homeostasis, perhaps there are not two systems that work more closely together than the respiratory system and the cardiovascular system. Although the entirety of each body system has a generalized common goal, these two systems share a relationship. The both focus on providing oxygen to the blood, and then ensuring that this richly oxygenated blood is circulated throughout the body. The whole human organism would fail if it lacked just one of these systems, and the individual systems would fail without each other. To fully understand how the two work together, one must fully realize the functions of each system apart. At Stanford University, an experiment was conducted by a psychology professor, infamously known as the Stanford prison experiment. The research was based and held in a prison setting with 24 recruited individuals who were then appointed as either inmates or guards, the operation was planned for two weeks as well as rules that were meant to be followed. What would be the fundamental purpose of experimenting with this, why did the head researcher want to conduct this experiment, how did the use affect the outcome? Why would someone run an experiment like this? The purpose was to understand the development of norms and the effects of roles, labels, and social expectations in a simulated prison environment (Zimbardo, 1971). With the exercise, the researchers were able to investigate how realistic the 24 individuals fit into their roles. With the participants playing into their roles it would hopefully demonstrate a specific analysis of the situation, as well as the difficulties and hardships between guards and prisoners within United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps (Zimbardo,1971). With the funding of the experiment coming from the U.S. Office of Naval Research, the participants were paid $15 per day. • 33. How Did Abraham Observed The Tenets Of Judaism Judaism Judaism began about 4000 years ago with the Hebrew people in the Middle East. Abraham, who was a Hebrew man, is considered the father of the Jewish faith because he promoted the main idea of the Jewish faith: that there is only one God. At the time a lot of people in the Middle East worshipped many gods. The Jewish tradition, Abraham founded which was later named the Jewish religion in the land of Israel, around 1800 BCE. The Torah says that Abraham came to know that there was only one God, and he abandoned idol worship. The Talmud (Yoma 28b) relates that Abraham observed the tenets of Judaism. Judaism is strictly monotheistic meaning that we have only one deity. The Creator has one true name which is represented by the letters YHVH in English. Judaism was founded in 2500 BC in Mesopotamia. It was discovered by Abraham. He promoted the central idea of the Jewish faith, that there is only One God. Judaism is in Israel, Europe, and USA. However, in the past Judaism has spread both by active proselytism and by migration from Judah. The Babylonian Exile was the first event that helped spread Judaism, as many Jews chose not to come back to Jerusalem. By the time of the Roman Empire, there was already a substantial Jewish presence in Babylon. Jewish Sacred Texts are The Tanach, Mishnah, Talmud and Midrash. Judaism is the oldest of the Abrahamic religions, and its primary sacred text is the Tanach, or the Jewish Bible, which is composed of the Pentateuch (Torah), the Prophets (Nevi im) and the Writings (Ketuvim). Judaism as it is found in the United States today is divided into four religious movements represented by synagogue membership. A small percentage of Jews identify with extremist, rightwing, cult like movements (such as Hasidism) which had their origins in eighteenth century Europe. A large percentage of Jews, identify themselves as Jewish though they belong to no movement. Some of these Jews do join synagogues from time to time, but others prefer to remain secular for ideological reasons. As with all political issues, there are those on the other side of the fence. People oppose this legistlation for various reasons: from constitutionality to cost. According to a study done by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), welfare recipients are no more likely to use drugs. Furthermore, placing a requirement to be tested may place a stigma upon those receiving welfare which would be counterproductive to their relief (Drug Testing). An editorial by Henry Waters in the Columbia Daily Tribune, the bill is the government attempting to punish a class of people who are presumed worthless (Waters).
