The constant buzzing of dogs barking sounds like mosquitoes in my ears. The worried and sad

It was time to close up the pound.
It was morning again and I was anxious waiting for the pound to open. That means I have
another chance of being adopted. The man opened the door while talking to a young family of
three that needed a fourth member. They had a little girl. She had long blonde hair, just like
mine. The man shows them around, and then the little girl comes towards me. Her hazel eyes
staring into mine like if she was looking straight into my soul. She whispered You are mine. I tilt
my head in confusion asking myself Did she just say that I belonged to her? Is this all a dream?
She quickly runs over to her parents and grabs their wrists dragging them over to my kennel. My
tail wags so much it starts to shake my whole body. Mom, Dad, I want him, he is just like me. The
girl exclaims. The women whispers to her husband He is perfect. The girl s mother then turns and

Gold and Its Demand
Running Head: Gold and Its Demand Gold and Its Demand In the year 2008, the prices of gold
fell down to $9oo from $1,035. This was a drastic downfall in the price of gold in 2008 and this
has directly affected investors in a number of ways. The investors suffered losses of large
margin and in addition to this, many of the investors had paid from ten to fifty percent of the
deposits of their shares and when a downfall occurred in the prices of gold, many of the investors
lost almost whole amount of their capital. Beside this, the fall in the prices of gold was less as
compared to other equities and commodities (Bohm, 2011, pg 34 39). The year 2008 changed
the shape of competition among the gold investors and the main characteristic of this year was
the failure of government in the banking industry. The entire economy was suffered in this year
and in this year of deflation; the affect on gold was a decrease in price. Gold prices fall to $690,
then came back to $800 but then once again fall down due to poor financial conditions. The
value of $ which was less at the start of 2008, started to increase during the mid of the year and
the economy was becoming better but again at the end of the same year, the value of $ began to
decrease and this had a direct impact on the prices of gold. In addition to this, the central bank of
different countries started decreasing their interest rates and loans were provided on easy terms and
conditions. Interest rate offered by the Swedish

Born on February 8, 1828, Jules Verne had spent most of his child hood in the small, seafaring

approval of the Morels to marry Honorine, Verne had to accepted her brother s offer to create a

Verne would begin writing and researching as early as five, before arriving at the Bourse to

time that would be known as the Franco Prussian war. The severity of the dispute had resulted in
Verne having to leave his personal life and serve with the French coast guard and manning the

Women and Maturity in Eschenbach s Parzival Essays
Women and Maturity in Eschenbach s Parzival
Through the course of Wolfram von Eschenbach s epic romance Parzival, it becomes abundantly
clear that the main characters, Parzival and Gawan, must attain some level of maturity or growth
before they will be able to persevere in their personal quests. While their paths to maturity involve a
great deal of combat and contests of knightly skill, it is their encounters with noble women that
truly redefine their characters.
Parzival is undeniably a romance. It contains all the typical components of an early romance:
extravagant characters, remote and exotic places, highly exciting and heroic events, passionate
love, and mysterious or supernatural experiences. As a romance alone, indeed, ... Show more

Herzeloyde, having lost her beloved husband Gahmuret to knightly combat, shelters Parzival in an
attempt to prevent him from entering knighthood. This sheltering forms the core of Parzival s
initial innocence. His mother s attempts to hide knighthood from him results in his also knowing
little to nothing about society, proper social behavior, and the class structure he must conform to.
Thus, while Parzival s decision to enter the knighthood after meeting with several knights would
seem to be the key event in establishing the initial plot of the tale, his mother s sheltering is truly
the underlying theme for the first step in Parzival s growth.
The next woman Parzival encounters in his quest is the Lady Jechute. Whereas Herzeloyde
provided the forum for establishing Parzival s innocence, Jechute is clearly the forum for displaying
his innocence. Prior and during their encounter Parzival s garb and speech are largely representative
of his innocence: his poor clothing and plain language presents him as little more than an unlearned
peasant. When Parzival encounters Jechute alone in her tent, he misinterprets advice given to him
by his mother and rather violently wrestles with her before ultimately stealing her ring. In the
course of their encounter, albeit brief, we see that Parzival s innocence, in part, manifests itself in a

Prosopagnosia
Prosopagnosia is a neurological disorder that makes it difficult or virtually impossible for people
to distinguish between human faces in the worst cases, even the faces of close family members.
There are obvious advantages to being able to recognize people, one of which is to distinguish
between friends and enemies. Fortunately, most humans, especially infants, are able to do so with
great ease. According to various studies, it seems that at the age of just a few months, infants begin
to fine tune their facerecognition skills for the types of faces which they see most often, usually
faces of people of their own race or ethnicity (National Research Council, 2004). The term

recognition impairment for most of their lives, perhaps since birth. Due to these newer studies, it
has been proven that many people suffer from prosopagnosia without experiencing any
neurological damage. This form of the neurological disorder is frequently referred to as
developmental or congenital prosopagnosia. For these individuals, they merely fail to develop
normal face processing abilities despite normal intellectual and perceptual functions. Even more
recent evidence proposes that there may be a genetic contribution to developmental prosopagnosia;

Why We Need An Urban County Government
Why We Need an Urban County Government
For too long this area has taken a back seat to the larger cities around us. We need to join the rest
of the progressive regions in this state and establish a new, more efficient form of government.
Pulaski County and the cities of Somerset, Science Hill, Ferguson, and Burnside need to merge
together and create an urban county government. This will help to consolidate duplicate services,
provide better representation for the citizens of Pulaski County, and strengthen the economy in this
region.
We live in a magnificent part of the state of Kentucky. We have picturesque landscapes, really
pleasant residents, and a magnificent lake that supports a huge part of our economy through tourism.

As a result, it is possible for the citizens to vote to implement this type of government. Therefore, in
April of 2013 the Somerset Pulaski County United group formed and began the process of having
feasibility studies done to see if the formation of an urban county government would be an
alternative that would serve our area well. According to the Commonwealth Journal, a newspaper in
Somerset, Kentucky, A group of about 60 community leaders, clustered as Somerset Pulaski County
United (SPCU), is embarking on a study to determine if a consolidated or united government in
Pulaski County would be more efficient and more responsive to the county s 63,000 residents.
(Mardis and Shmidheiser). This group, a cross section that well represents the residents of this
county, believes that the formation an urban county government is a great opportunity for all our
futures.
Unfortunately, the SPCU has faced much antagonism in this initial phase of work. Many current
government leaders are afraid of what changes might do to their positions of power. But these
same leaders are also the ones who create problems and allow current ones to continue. Having a
council of peers will give a voice everyone in the area, not just the few who reside in the

Colorblinness Theory Essay
As it becomes evident from the above tenets, critical race theory was developed and centered on
issues of race and racism that are embedded in American society. Alternatively, other scholars situate
CRT within four tenets: (1) racism is normal, (2) interest convergence, (3) historical context, and (4)
narrative (Taylor, 2009).
In addition, CRT pushes to confront racial ideologies like colorblindness, neutrality, meritocracy,
and white privilege (Bell, 1992; Delgado Stefancic, 2012; Gotanda, 1996; Crenshaw 1988). A
closer examination on colorblindness demonstrates why it is a major focus in CRT. In their

Julian’s Racist Mother in O’Connor’s Everything

Julian s Racist Mother in O Connor s Everything That Rises Must Converge
She lifted the hat one more time and set it down slowly on her head. Two wings of gray hair
protruded on either side of her florid face, but her eyes, sky blue, were as innocent as they must
have been when she was ten. Where it not that she was a widow who had struggled fiercely to feed
and clothe and put him through school and who was supporting him still, until he got on his feet,
she might have been a little girl that he had to take to town.
This passage was taken from Everything That Rises Must Converge and describes Julian s mother,
who remains nameless in the story. It particularly describes her face and hair, which make her
sound, ironically, like an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She helps her son financially, and therefore does not try to be more accepting, even though he asks
her to be. She tries to give the black child a penny, and thus thinks that she is indeed acting more
accommodating to race, but succeeds only in drawing attention to her antiquated notions of gentility.
Thus the angelic description of her physical features is very ironic. Heavenly, and Christian
images are seen throughout this short story, such as Julian being described as St. Sebastian, and
Julian s mother reminding him that Julian s grandmother was a Godhigh. Perhaps the images
foreshadow the upcoming death of Julian s mother, and her belief that she absolutely deserves to
go to heaven when she dies, though she does not know she will die by the end of the story. Julian
s mother believes she has done everything right in her life, and though she is a very earnest and
selfless woman, she is hardly an angel.
The passage also alludes to Julian s mother being a child, or a ten year old, which may have been
the age when she knew Caroline, her darky nurse. At the end of the story, she calls out for
Caroline, probably because Caroline was the one who would have helped her when she was a
child and in trouble, but it is poignant that she is described as being young, and in the last
seconds of her life, she reverts back to the childhood that she still resembles, even after all her
years and troubles. The passage also says that if

Evolutionary History of Gray Wolves
Evolutionary History of Gray Wolves
The gray wolf is one of the world s most well known and well researched animals with more
documentation on them than any other wildlife species. It is a canid whose main habitats are in
the wilderness of remote areas in North America, Eurasia and North Africa. It is the largest
member of the wolf family, usually weighing between 70 and 120 lbs, and closely resembles in
general appearance and proportions to a modern day breed of dog known as the German Sheppard,
although they typically have a larger head, narrower chest, longer legs, straighter tails and bigger
paws. The narrow chest of the gray wolf allows for swift and efficient movement through the
common elements of their environment such as snow, brush and other conditions. Their larger
heads indicate their higher level of intelligence and their large paws, webbed with fur aid in
movement across mud and snow. The colour of a gray wolf s fur lives up to its name and is
predominantly a mottled gray although the gray wolf can also have fur that is nearly pure white,
mixes of red, brown, or black. Being very social animals, gray wolves do mostly everything in
packs of 2 15 animals; living, traveling and hunting. They can hunt and feed off smaller game,
yet with their large pack size, they can work collectively to bring down large game such as deer,
moose or bison. There are 37 recognized subspecies of the gray wolf in total ranging across six

The Principles Of Lean Manufacturing
The primary use of lean principles was in the manufacturing domain earlier, later it spread to
various processes across various industries. It was believe that the idea of lean originated in japan
(Toyota), but there is evidence that the Mr. Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company has
been using the principles of lean in the early 1920 s.
Henry ford thought that shortening the time a product takes in a production is a key solution to
reduce the overall cost of the product [4]. If a product spends large amounts of time in a process of
manufacturing, the overall costs goes high, one of the reasons being more material handling.
There are primarily 5 principles of lean manufacturing [9]. Those 5 principles are as follows:
1) Specifying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people tend to misunderstand lean by identifying the non value added processes and working
on them to eradicate them which in turn increases the amount of non value added tasks.
VALUE STREAMS: Value stream is a map of processes in the order of which they run. Creating
a value stream is of key importance in understanding the value added and non value added
processes. Value streams help us identify the whole production process as a whole while giving us
insight on all the sub processes that go through. Value stream processes may also depict the flow of
information. VSM requires various departments to come together and prepare the map, it is not an
individual job.
FLOW: We continuously try to establish a flow between values added processes. A value added
process must not be hindered by a process which of no value. If possible, non value added
processes must be done in parallel.
PULL: lean concentrates on pull system. Pull system is making the product when it is required.
This tends to minimize the wastage and also has minimal inventory. Employees stay idle when
there is no order but the value is from the final product. Industries following push system can face
a few problems in the form of over production and inventory wastages. Producing first and storing
it in warehouse eats up the capital that is invested and is a considerable waste.

Magical And Metaphysical Elements Of Magical Realism
Magical realism is a genre that incorporates magical and mystical elements into lives of ordinary
people going about the monotonous activities of daily life. Everything would appear to be
normal, except for a few elements that go beyond what would most likely be called ordinary. It s
a combination or merge of realist tradition in literature with the world of fantasy, as if fantasy
were the most normal thing in the world. In this genre, the world that is created has a very thin

vestiges of the wishful phantasies of the whole nation, the secular dreams of youthful humanity .
He believes the daydreaming is a series of methods which the human mind has constructed in
order to evade the compulsion to suffer a series which begins with neurosis and culminates in
madness and which includes intoxication, self absorption and ecstasy. In this way the social
imagination, created through myths and symbols, may provide a defense against the real in
times of social distress. Sigmund Freud talks about in Creative Writers and Day Dreaming how
a child s best love s and most intense occupation is with his play or games. We can also go on to
say that a child at play almost behaves like a creative writer, in which he creates a world of his
own making and arranging objects according to his own wish. The child enjoys

The Effect Of Scaffolds On Bone Tissue Engineering
Development of scaffolds plays a vital role in bone tissue engineering in order to repair, regenerate
tissues by mimicking of natural bone extracellular matrixes. Considering that bone is a composite
of minerals and proteins, it is preferred to develop a composite that mimics natural bone. The ideal
nanocomposite materials should have biocompatibility, suitable mechanical and antimicrobial
properties, nontoxicity and surface functionality to favor cell proliferation.1,2
Many organic inorganic materials have been developed to mimic natural bone which is composed of
inorganic hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) and organic collagen fibrils. Among these, chitosan
(CTS) and hydroxyapatite (HAP) has been selected extensively due to their excellent
biocompatibility with human body.3 CTS is a natural bidegradable polysaccharide, served as the
best bioactive biomaterials in bone grafting and well known for their excellent biocompatibility
with the human body environment. CTS composed of glucosamine and N acetylglucosamine units,
linked in ОІ (1 4) manner, obtained from chitin by partial or complete deacetylation. It is flexible in
nature and has a resistance upon heating. CTS is excellent biomaterial due to its biocompatibility,
biodegradability, non toxicity and non immunogenicity.4,5 HAP has attracted much attention as a
biomaterial because its chemical composition is identical to that of human bone. HAP is a highly

Essay on The Four Main Stages of Business
A growing business will cycle through four major stages in its development. Evolving from a
one person operation to a multi department company has its challenges and rewards. In this
paper, it will be described how each of the four stages a business may pass through will affect it.
The four stages of a business life are as follow. In stage one, the business is being created and is
operated often with only one person. Stage two, organization growth, structureand employee
managementcan be observed. Stage three, owner s delegation of certain powers takes place.
Finally, stage four, being the creation of a more structured business, which entails the creation of
policies and procedures.
In the first phase of the creation of the business, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the business grows, the owner s focus will have to change from overseeing the day to day
operations to focusing on getting investors and funding and potentially developing new products
or services. As I said earlier, since the proprietor will have staff, he/she will need experienced
manager to help them focus on the core operations of the business as said by William Weirsema:
The founder should realize that he or she can t possibly be the best in the company at everything
from marketing to finances. Functions that can t justify a full time expert should be outsourced to
professionals that specialize. Possibilities include information systems, accounting, human
resources, marketing, and engineering. Hiring a chief operating officer is usually advisable. (1999).
Hiring qualified staff and manager will help the business become more successful.
The fourth stage of business happens when the business has almost reached its full expansion. It is
the stage where the owner has to make decisions on policies, code of conduct for personnel, job
descriptions as well as internal control policies just to name a few. It is also the stage where the
owner will have to decide what type of departmentation they want their organization to use.
Whether it is by project, by function or by matrix this will help the business being more efficient.
Also, the founder will have to decide whether its business should be centralized or

Greasy Lake Summary
In T.C. Boyles Greasy Lake, the narrator claims that he and his friends are dangerous characters
(57). However, as the story concludes the description of him and his friends are inaccurate. So how
do the narrator and his friends undermine their self proclaimed bad ness? That the narrator and his
friends are regretful by the end of the story discredits the claim. Also, they are confounded when a
situation turns out badwhich makes it seem like they haven t been in that situation before. Finally,
when their self proclaimed badness is tested, they falter and are uncommitted to being bad anymore.
In conclusion, being regretful, confounded and uncommitted undermines their claim of being bad.
Speaking about the narrator and his friends being remorseful by the conclusion of the story, they
aren t as bad as they claim to be because real bad guys aren t regretful. The moment that started
the feeling of regret and led to a series of events was when he drops the keys jumping out of the
car. He says, knowing things had gone wrong, that I was in a lot of trouble, and that the lost
ignition key was my grail and my salvation (58 59). Now, he has no escape from the situation and
what makes it even worse is when a bad character in greasy jeans and engineer boots ripped out
of the driver s door (58). The narrator and his friends are prepared to run from this altercation with
an actual bad character which diminishes their claim of being bad as he s feeling contrite and

The Dragon As A Symbol Of Strength, Power, And Good Luck
Every culture throughout the world has their own unique stories of their beginnings and histories,
their own mythologies. In these mythologies there are stories of creations, destruction s, Gods,
Goddesses, heroes, villains, features, and creatures. That last category being one that enraptures
them all. The tales of mythological creatures are ones that have captivated the masses since the
beginning. Children are told stories of the wonderful, and sometimes fearsome, creatures that
dominate the world of mythology. Of all those many creatures, one of the creatures spread through
nearly all cultures, in some form or another, good or bad, is the dragon. In the lands of the East the
dragon is often seen as a symbol of strength, power, and good luck(Wu, 2015), in the Western lands
the dragon is often seen as the opposite, it s seen as destruction and chaos, bringing nothing but
terror and bad luck. Which ever version of the dragon one chooses to believe in, and despite the
things children are led to believe in their bedtime stories, some dragons are more then just monsters
that knights slay to save the princess. Dragons, in their various forms, represent a plethora of things
to many different cultures around the world. This paper will talk about what dragons are, what they
mean to the Chinese, Slavic, and Celtic cultures, their part in the history of those cultures along
with the world, and how they continue to captivate the imagination and teach the people of today.

Shakespeare s Portrayal of Henry V as the Model Monarch...
Shakespeare s Portrayal of Henry V as the Model Monarch In this essay I intend to show that
Shakespeare portrays Henry as the Classic Sovereign as he is patriotic, brave, cunning, religious,
natural leader in touch with the lower class of the country. I will use quotes and remarks in the
play to show this and present it. I shall firstly do a summery of the play and give a basic image of
what it contains, and then give a detailed analysis, which will give a more detailed view of
particular scenes to show how Shakespeare shows Henry s character and finally I shall make a
conclusion to present my evidence, to show that Henry is presented as a model monarch. The play

Closed Reduction Speech
Introduction
A closed reduction is a procedure to align bones that have moved out of place. A knee dislocation
occurs when one of the leg bones slips out of its normal position in the knee socket. It typically
involves the bones in the lower leg (tibia or fibula) in relation to the thigh bone (femur). Knee
dislocation in a leg with an artificial (prosthetic) knee joint is not common. When this injury occurs,
it is a medical emergency that needs to be treated right away.
A closed reduction is not surgery. It is done without cutting your skin open. During a closed
reduction, a health care provider will rotate your bone and apply pressure to put the bone back into
the socket.
Tell a health care provider about:
Any allergies you have.

A splint, brace, immobilizer, or cast will be placed to hold the knee in position while it heals.
The procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals.
What happens after the procedure?
Your blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, and blood oxygen level will be monitored until the
medicines you were given have worn off.
Imaging tests will be done to check whether there is damage to blood vessels or nerves around
your knee. This may include a test that involves injecting a special dye into your blood vessels
and looking at the dye through a CT scan (angiogram). An MRI or Doppler ultrasound could also
be done.
You may need to wear the splint, brace, immobilizer, or cast for up to 6 weeks. You may be given
crutches to help you move around.
Do not drive for 24 hours if you were given a sedative.

William Golding s The Mist And The Lord Of The Flies
Power, religion, and fear drive people in strange ways. Acting from any one of these motivators
could make a person turn to anyone for a solution; even if that solution goes against their morals.
In William Golding s novel The Lord of the Flies young british boys are stranded on an island after
their plane crashes. Terrified of a beast lurking in the shadows, and with no rules, structure, or
adults; the boys form their own system of governance but their civilized mannerisms start to
dissipate. Similarly in the film adaptation of Stephen Kings The Mist, a group of people are trapped
in a grocery store when a mysterious fog sweeps over their town. With brutal beasts waiting
ominously outside, this group also tries to come up with a form of governance, but their morals
and civilized ways start to vanish as their fearbecomes more present.
The fight for power plays a big part in both the LOTF and The Mist. When the plane crashes in
LOTF, Ralph gathers everyone together with the conch. When the boys take a vote they all decide
Ralph should be chief, even though Jack: the head of the choir, yearns for the position. The conflict
between Ralph and Jack starts with the desire to be in charge, but is intensified by their
disagreements on what is most important. Jack feels that the most important thing is hunting;
Ralph feels the most important thing is to be rescued. Jack tries to overthrow Ralph as chief, but
when he is unsuccessful he leaves to form his own group. All but

Betrayal In Mean Girls And The Play Julius Caesar
Lying and betrayal tie together the movie Mean Girls and the play Julius Caesar. In the movie,
Cady lied to her friend, Regina George, and betrayed her by sabotaging important things in her
life, such as her boyfriend, her body, and her friends. In the play, Brutus lied to and betrayed his
best friend Caesar. Brutus stabbed Caesar and killed him for Rome. The movie Mean Girls and the
playJulius Caesar are tied together by many differences, similarities, and important lessons.
One important difference found between the play and the movie is the time period. Caesar is the
leader of Rome with a group of senators that are his servants while Regina is the leader of the high
school Plastics which is a group of three girls: Regina, Gretchen, and Karen. Everybody in the
high school loves and knows everything about the Plastics and the girls look up to them. Caesar

Jealousy took a role in the play when Cassius was explaining to Brutus how, in Cassius s
opinion, Caesar is not better than everybody. He gave examples on the time Caesar was
swimming in a lake with Cassius and nearly drowned, getting saved by Cassius. Cassius
encouraged Brutus to kill Caesar because he thought Brutus was just as good, if not better, than
Caesar.. The ending of Julius Caesar is important because it shows that not everything results in
how people always want it to. Brutus and Cassius both commit suicide in the end of the play. The
importance in the end of the play is the ending isn t always how you want it to be. Before Cassius
and Brutus split up, Brutus was explaining to Cassius that he would never kill himself. In the end,
Brutus killed himself because he didn t want to continue without his best friend,

Hublot segment its target market by demographics which illustrate different customers attitudes.
According to Dubois et al. (2001: 35), there are three types of customers. The first is Elitist s
Group , customers in this group state that luxury product must be small educated, sophisticated
and refined. And it should differentiate itself from others. It is indeed expensive and cannot be
mass distributed (ibid). The second type is Democratic group that customers in this section
consider the luxury should be mass distributed and accessible to consumers. To appreciate luxury
goods no special education is required, this section do not consider luxury should be reserved to
refined people. Additionally, they think that it is not the word of good taste or differentiation, it is
also not necessary to be expensive. The customers in this section has being positive to luxury
(ibid). While the last section should be the Distant group , which means customers do not have a
negative attitude towards luxury, they consider luxury is another world where they do not belong
to. In fact, luxury does not attract them, also they cannot find out any value, attribute or relevance,
especially useless and too expensive. They report that more taxes should be paid from luxury
(ibid). Thus, based on the customers attitudes, Hublot mainly focuses on the Democratic group
which can be shown in Appendix 1 (Gautschi, 2005: 9) and Appendix 2 (ibid). Hublot s products are

Everything I Still Believe That People Are Really Good At...
In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. This quote proves that
Anne Frank cared about everyone even if they did not treat her with respect. Anne Frank was a
strong, young girl who was alive during the Holocaust. She and her family had to go into hiding
because of what they believed in. During the Holocaust it was a very rough time for Jewish
people. For example, they had to wear the star of David and if they were found they were taken to
a concentration camp, where they were treated rudely and with no respect. After Anne and her
familywere found they were sent to a concentration camp, but while they were there Anne was still
happy and positive there. She also had to stay strong even though they were given very little food

The Dna Samples Of Gophers Tested
Background
The DNA samples of gophers tested are prime examples of evolution. There are several
evolutionary processes that occurred with the species being study. Speciation occurred once a river
causing their gene pools to diverge separated the gophers. This evolutionary occurrence represents
allopathic speciation. Furthermore, once the species gene pool diverged the morphological species
concept could be observed. The Geomys attwateri is slightly larger than the Geomys brevicep by
10 mm. During this evolutionary occurrence reproductive isolation may have occurred as well.

Campbell) Although morphological observations help identify species they are not as accurate as
testing the DNA of species with similar resemblance. The most accurate way to identify species
is to extract their DNA and use bioinformatics. To decipher if a species by its morphology can be
suggested as a hypothesis, but the results of its DNA will identify the species accurately. Tissues
samples can be taken from the species in question, and the DNA can be extracted from tissue.
Once the DNA is extracted it can be amplified. DNA can be amplified by the PCR procedure, in
which specific gene regions can be used as barcodes to identify the species. These specific
regions are known as Cytochrome oxidase 1 and Cytochrome B. Once these regions are purified
and amplified, the samples can be sequenced, and the species can be identified. These procedures
can solve many mysteries and questions. The DNA sequencing of different species can identify
where it falls on the phylogenetic tree and where the population separated to produce a new species.
These procedures help us understand the evolution of ancestors to the present and the connection
between each species. Two separate species with multiple similarities can be observed, and
bioinformatics can help answer that question.
Purpose
There are several experiments that must be conducted before a species can be identified. The tissue
samples of these organisms must be obtained, and their tissues must

Improving Sports At School Time
Many parents put special emphasis on learning math and natural science for their children than
paying attention to the importance of physical education. Even public schools do not allocate
enough time for kids to practice sports as much as they do for class based education. In fact,
physical activity for children is not only about pleasure time. Rather, it helps grown up children
to extend their capacity to grasp concepts explained in their classes. Children who are active
while doing physical activity are expected to be active at class time. Thus, encouraging sports at
school time is essential for child development not only for educational success but also for
physical, social, mental, and moral development(Griffin , 1998). Physical education helps kids to
develop in many areas. Sports that require collaboration between players can help them to grasp
the importance of being a part of group and how it is important to unify their effort with others to
achieve certain goals. When it comes to moral development, children will learn to accept that
there are always winners and losers and it s not wrong to be a loser. Moreover, since all kind of
sports include competition, kids will have the chance to be physically developed in an exciting
atmosphere. All these benefits will positively affect students outcome when they return to class.
Therefore, public schools should consider physical activity as a crucial component of their

Corporate Finance Programs
Introduction
In a company s operational activities, it is essential induce financial management in its
organizational structure. All business operations center on the use of finances to incur profits that
benefit the company employees, shareholders and their nation s economic society. This context
digs into the conduction of both managerial and corporate finance. The executive finance deals with
managerial implication on financial techniques used alongside pecuniary decisions made by the
company besides other financial tools and analytical procedures through corporate finance. Among
the techniques used are corporate valuation, value based management, corporate governance and
EPOS (Employees Stock Ownership) plans.
Corporate Valuation
This is the evaluation of firm value strategies by forecasting on past financial statements; presenting
values of cash flow stream strategies and choosing value maxima based on the appropriate strategic
plan. A firm s stock is valued through different methods such as through the discounted dividend
model.
Corporate valuation is channeled alongside the corporate valuation model. It is a substitute to stock
valuation. The model points out company s main operational and non operational assets as well as
the total worth of firm value and growth (Ehrhardt and Brigham, 2008, pg 659). It is usually an
alternative to discounted dividend models in determining firm value of companies with no history

The Role Of Active Faults On Fracture Development
The third order fracture distribution is strongly dependent on the lithofacies architecture, especially
the distribution of bedding plane discontinuities. Fractures in stratified parts of the sequence form a
nested structure with a high degree of mechanical units at the scale of individual sedimentary beds.
In more homogeneous rocks, a widely spaced background network of lithology irrelevant fractures
is overprinted by more densely spaced fractures terminating at significant mechanical decoupling
surfaces.
Relationships between fracture stratigraphy and stratigraphic fracture development controls for
different scale ranges as formalized in the hierarchical fracture model for the Petra case study can be
used to provide constraints for nested fractured reservoir models. This methodology can help
determine an appropriate homogenization scale for geo cellular fracture models, improve the
prediction of the discrete sub seismic fracture distribution compared to conventional down scaling
techniques and improve the constraints of stratigraphic control on wellbore up scaling. This
procedure becomes increasingly more powerful when combined with the effects of other important
development controls, such as the influence of active faults on fracture development.

World War III is an alarming event to ponder on right? Especially if that war would be nuclear.
This event almost happened on multiple occasions, but this is going to be about a nerve racking
time in 1962. What happened in 1962 you may ask? The Cuban Missile Crisis. Just as the year
was coming to an end an American spy plane took pictures of missiles in an island 103 miles off
the coast of Florida, Cuba. Can theorize who put the missiles there? The USSR put them there
because Cuba was a neighboring communist country to the US, so if the US were to do
something the USSR could shoot the missiles. Mind you, these weapons are nuclear and as we
should all know that is never excellent. After this very stressful time for the US and the USSR how

That s what Mr. Kennedy did once he found out that the Soviets had missiles in Cuba. Mr.
Kennedy put the Military in DEFCON 2. What is DEFCON you may ask and why is it a big
deal if it is a lower number? DEFCON stands for defense readiness condition, with DEFCON 5
meaning to be ready and DEFCON 1 meaning nuclear war is coming. You could imagine this
was terrifying for the military because this is the first time DEFCON 2 was called. Also
DEFCON 2 was only called twice, during this time period and 29 years later in the first week of

They also believe in eating a plant based diet, the consume a lot of tofu and rarely eat fish. What I
found very interesting that they eat more sweet potatoes, and they consume the spice, turmeric,
which has been linked to healthier hearts (Buettner, 2008.)
Loma Linda residents also believe in eating more plant based diets, eating in moderation, eating an
early dinner, drinking plenty of water, exercising to maintain a healthy weight, and as we have seen
in Sardinia and Okinawa, spending quality time with family and friends.

Red Velvet Waffles Analysis
Spicy Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles with Spicy Butter Pecan Syrup
If I took one day longer to publish this recipe I know my followers would chew me out! I debuted
this Spicy Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles with Butter Pecan Syrup on my
Twitter last week and seemed to get pretty good engagement on the pictures. YAY! =) My taste
tester thoroughly enjoyed the meal and said they would pay for it in a restaurant sooo I think I
have a winner, guys! Who knows, I might actually sell this meal in my future restaurant.
Background on Spicy Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles
In all honesty, I don t have an elaborate story on how I developed this recipe. I saw a picture of

I was thinking about making a spicy chocolate syrup to play off of the small amount of cocoa
powder in the red velvet waffles. I also thought the spicy chocolate syrup would work well with
the chicken because, mole. LOL, BUT I know most of my readers have probably never tried
chicken mole and would probably write me an email cussing me out for pairing chicken with
chocolate!
Anyway, I settled on making a spicy butter pecan syrup from scratch. Yes, my loves, we can
make syrup in our kitchens! Fear not, I promise it s not very labor intensive. I toasted my pecans
for a few minutes then I added them to the syrup (which is just sugar and water) then I added
some cayenne pepper, some chipotle powder, some bourbon and of course butter. This syrup is not
lacking in the spice department, it will rattle your taste buds. The heat won t overwhelm you so
there s no need to worry.

The Inferno By Dante Alighieri
Inferno by Dante Alighieri is beautifully woven to reflect the realities or unrealities of the time.
The various circles of hell are used by the Florentine writer Dante, to tell the tale in a structured
and elaborate manner, with the use of nine circles of the Inferno (Havely, 374). Interesting,
however, is the manner in which Dante describes the characters, as they are seen to be facing
tragedies in their life in hell. The author of this medieval text categorizes the different types of sins
that people can commit and subjects the characters to various punishments; each is in a separate
circle in hell. Lawall opines that the writer uses a style that makes the reader envision themselves in
the poem (Lawall, 17). The infamous guide of Dante the character is none other than Virgilthe poet,
and being born before the time of Christ, places him in the category of a virtuous pagan , who is in
a matter of speaking, lost and without hope in Inferno, but not without safety that the author
bestows as homage to Virgil (Alighieri, 1028). With the various messages of political strife and
religious tension seeping throughout the text of the Inferno, it is clear to see that a couple who
faces a tragic situation that has no ending is Paolo and Francesca. In so doing, the author subjects
this adulterous couple to relatively tragic states even though they appear to possess incredible
beauty in character, personality and intellect. The journey through hell is as a result of Dante

Her dad carried her away from the hospital without payment, and then her mom permitted her to

was not angry at such young age and soon the family had to pack their belongings into bags and
do the skedaddle as her parents always said. The parents were fleeing from bill collectors.
Although Jeanette s father was an alcoholic, he could get work almost anywhere, often in small

she instead showed how they absolutely admire him, by capitalizing Dad . Rex has an ability to

holds onto her father when other people ignore him because he makes her feel unique, as it gives

Techniques Used by Clarinet Players
Technique is very important for all musicians of all types, especially for Clarinet players. Many of
the techniques are vital for a great musician to understand. Things such as embouchure, vibrato and
tone effects are all things that are required by the musician. I will be investigating the embouchure
and how a correct one will substantially increase your prowess as a woodwind, particularly clarinet,
player. The clarinet is a woodwind instrument that has a single reed mouthpiece. Johann Christoph
Denner invented the clarinet in Germany around the turn of the 18th century by adding a register
key to the earlier Chalumea. Having a correct embouchure is vitally important to playing woodwind
instruments.
Structure
1.Embouchure.
2.Different types of embouchures in different people.
3.Research into different kinds of embouchure and how other people do it.
4.Synthesis of why it is very important to have an good embouchure.
With the woodwinds, the sound is generated by a reed and not with the lips. The embouchure is
therefore based on sealing the area around the reed and the mouthpiece. This makes sure that there
is no air escaping from either side of the mouthpiece when the musician is blowing. A reed
instrument works by having the musician blowing a steady breath of air over the reed and through
the mouthpiece. The vibrations of the reed are what produce the sound that makes up the notes.
The harder or stronger the air is passing over the reed the higher the pitch of the

Rent Control Of The United States

Rent Control in the United States
Rent control is a law that places a price ceiling on the amount of rent a landlord can charge a
tenant. People from middle and lower income brackets tend to benefit from rent control, while
people from the upper income brackets do not. The whole purpose as to why rent control exists is
so that tenants from the lower income groups are not exploited by greedy landlords through
government intervention. Landlords who own property in expensive cities like San Francisco are
not able to charge market rates of rent as that would displace many poor people. While rent control
was created with good intentions by the government, rent control is overall more harmful to the
economy than good. Rent control goes back to the days of World War I. During the years following
the war, the United States was experiencing a large shortage of housing. John W. Willis, author of
the article Short History of Rent Control Laws wrote, Housing shortages, however, are not new, and
it should not be surprising therefore to find that modern attempts to intervene in the relationship
between landlord and tenant find precedents going back hundreds of years (Willis 54). The war
was a reason because the wives of the soldiers acquired jobs in manufacturing plants, factories, and
other places. This caused a surge in population, which then increased the demand for housing
accommodations near places of

Spellbinding Metaphors In Plato s Phaedo
Mafädee 1
Qusai Mafädee
Intro to Philosophical Thkg 8:00
30 September, 2017
Test 1
One of the most spellbinding metaphors in Plato s Phaedo that shows the struggle between the
body and the soul is a description of the body as a prison for the soul, so the soul is a prisoner that
stuck within the material body. (Plato Phaedo 82e) The Imprisoned soul associates with the body,
because of its incomprehension to get out from the prison. Therefore, the materiality intrudes
more and more to contaminate the soul within the body. In which Plato s divided line steps play
the role of gradually freeing the soul from its own imprison. Despite Plato s complex theory, It s
philosophy that can lead the human to extract much to tell about how the humans can look at the
world from wiser angles than from those of the body. Plato builds his fundamental idea about this
theory that what humans see or what they used to see may not be the reality or truth but mere
deceptive shadows of truth, and therefore the senses for him are deceiving and unreliable. The
soul is immortal, and the body is the mortal part, in which both exist in the living human.
According to Plato, when the soul dissociates from the body, the soul leaves the world of
becoming and enter the world of being. However, the soul has separate ability away from the body,
and this independent existence reflects the most purity state away from the body. (Plato Phaedo
114d)

New Harmony Analysis
In addition to traditional communities that the world has known, utopian thinkers have developed
imaginary visions of an ideal city, a nowhere, where all obstacles are removed (Manuel, E.F. 1973).
Consequently, in the quest for human s ultimate happiness and fulfilment, founders of new
intentional communities have embarked on implementing ideas and methods toward man s
perfection by means of new social systems and reforms. One of these communities is Robert Owen
s New Harmony. As matter of fact, this community saw much dynamism in the start, but did not
last for long. Obviously, this community did not develop in vacuum, nor has it come into existence
overnight. Nevertheless, what experiences may have led to New Harmony tragic failure? In
addition, what are the pluses and drawbacks one can note of New Harmony concerning social
reconstruction? To what extent do New Harmony s experiences suggest the ideal conditions for
peaceful co existence?
This essay assesses New Harmony breakthrough from its inception to its afterlife, shading light onto
potencies and setbacks therein. In so doing, the essay first examines why this community was
initially appealing to so many people and why this trend went waning. In the second instance, he
essay highlights conditions for admittance to the community and the character of people who lived
there. Thirdly, the essay ponders on the living conditions guaranteed, and the kind of education
proposed as well. Fourthly, the essay discusses some

Cultural Comparisons of India and China

Introduction
1.Increased business globalization, emergence of new economic hubs like BRIC countries (Brazil,
Russia, India and China) as well as more intense competition among organizations at the domestic
and international level alike over the past two decades, have necessitated the need for studies in the
comparative Human Resource Management (HRM) (Budhwar amp; Sparrow, 2002a). As a result,
a growing number of conceptual (Aycan, 2005; Edwards amp; Kuruvilla, 2005) and empirical

Hall describes context as the information that surrounds an event. In high context societies, the
situation, the external environment and non verbal cues are crucial in the communication process.
However, this approach fits much better with a generic concept of culture, in the sense of a broad
cultural community such as Arabs, Latins or Chinese, than with the constrained boundaries of a
nation state, where individual and organizational diversity allows for a pluralistic coexistence of
both low and high context.
9.The work of Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck (1961) offers another useful framework to understand
cultural differences. Viewing culture as a set of assumptions and deep level values regarding
relationships among humans and between humans and their environments, Kluckhohn and
Strodtbeck proposed four basic value orientations, which can be further divided into sub dimensions
to capture the complex cultural variations across societies. The major orientations in their model
are human nature (evil, mixed, good), man nature relationship (subjugation, harmony, dominant),
social relation with people (hierarchical, collateral, individual), human activity (being, becoming,
doing), and time sense (past, present, future). The cultural orientation framework has been adopted
by researchers to explain variations of HRM practices across countries (e.g., Aycan et al., 2007;

Biomems Devices Are Manufactured Using Similar...
BioMEMS devices are manufactured using similar microfabrication techniques as those used in
semiconductor processing (such as photolithography, thin film deposition and etching ) to produce
the desired configuration of features, including traces (thin metal wires), vias (interlayer
connections), reservoirs, valves, and membranes. The interest in BioMEMS is growing rapidly,
with opportunities in areas such as biosensors, pacemakers, immunoisolation capsules, and drug
delivery [31]. Microcantilever is one of the most widely studied bioMEMS in the area of biosensors.
It converts surface based biochemical interactions into mechanical signals. In particular, when
biomolecules immobilized on the cantilever surface undergo intermolecular reactions, such as
antibody antigen interaction [32], hybridization of DNA interaction [33], receptor ligand [34]; their
conformational change causes a change in the surface stress on the cantilever due to reduction
decrease in free energy. The deflection of the cantilever induced by the surface stress change
provides a direct measure of the biomolecular interaction. For instance, the steady state cantilever
deflection can indicate the fraction of immobilized biomolecules that have bound to free analytes in
solution, while the time to reach steady state reflects the rate constant of the specific binding [35].
When one surface of the cantilever undergoes a surface stress change, the cantilever bends

Ethical Theory Summary
Ethical Theory Summary
This is an outline and summary of three of the most prominent ethical theories in the history of
philosophy. (Note that all three of these represent different ethical absolutist/universalist theories. A
view known as ethical relativism follows these.) Please take this as a sketch that invites you to
investigate these ethical theories further. After each brief sketch, I will provide some web links that

A rule utilitarian, on the other hand, begins by looking at potential rules of action. To determine
whether a rule should be followed, he looks at what would happen if it were constantly followed. If
adherence to the rule produces more happiness than otherwise, it is a rule that morally must be
followed at all times. The distinction between act and rule utilitarianism is therefore based on a
difference about the proper object of consequentialist calculation: individual actions or rules?

Deontological ethics or deontology (Greek: ОґООїОЅ (deon) meaning obligation or duty) is the

Deontologists argue the rightness or wrongness of an action does not depend on the goodness or
badness of its consequences. In contrast, consequentialism holds that the right act or system of rules
is the one that maximizes or satisfies good consequences as determined by an impartial
determination of good and evils. Deontological ethics typically is thought to involve two important
elements: prerogatives and constraints. Prerogatives deny that agents must always seek to

Research Paper On Constructivism
Constructivism: A Review
Abstract
Constructivism is an all encompassing theory of learning that emerged as a prevailing paradigm in
the last part of the twentieth century. Constructivism is a theory which brings cogitation to
pedagogy (Bruner, 1966). Constructivism capitalizes on the ways in which human beings create
their own personal construct of reality by understanding and experiencing the world. The
cornerstone of constructivism is that constructing personal meaning is ingrained in individuals
right from the birth (Vygotsky, 1978).
The Overview
Constructivist approach explains the ways in which learners make their own personal senses of
learning tasks, the environment, the teacher, and the actual process of learning (Vygotsky, 1962).
Constructivism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In education teacher acts more akin to a mediator consulting and helping learner grow. Social
constructivism adopts its stance as internationalist perspective operating within social context.
Learners are actively involved in the process of learning shaping their experiences about the world
by other significant people (Vygotsky, 1962).
3
Constructivism is part of educational psychology which places the learner at the central focus.
Learner learns by interacting in a social context of teacher and text. Each individual learner is sui
generis, no two learners are the same. The ways they view the world are not the same. Learners
bring these differences to the learning situation. Teachers must be cognizant of these differences.
Furthermore no two teachers and teaching situations are ever the same. Like students, teachers
should become self aware of their beliefs and attitude to the teaching and learning and make their
own contributions to the learner as the situations arise (Williams and Burden, 1997). While learners
are interacting with the task beforehand, teachers are required to take the learners response to the
tasks to see if they are appropriate to their levels of developments congruent

  • 8. Women and Maturity in Eschenbach s Parzival Essays Women and Maturity in Eschenbach s Parzival Through the course of Wolfram von Eschenbach s epic romance Parzival, it becomes abundantly clear that the main characters, Parzival and Gawan, must attain some level of maturity or growth before they will be able to persevere in their personal quests. While their paths to maturity involve a great deal of combat and contests of knightly skill, it is their encounters with noble women that truly redefine their characters. It contains all the typical components of an early romance: extravagant characters, remote and exotic places, highly exciting and heroic events, passionate love, and mysterious or supernatural experiences. Herzeloyde, having lost her beloved husband Gahmuret to knightly combat, shelters Parzival in an attempt to prevent him from entering knighthood. This sheltering forms the core of Parzival s initial innocence. His mother s attempts to hide knighthood from him results in his also knowing little to nothing about society, proper social behavior, and the class structure he must conform to. Thus, while Parzival s decision to enter the knighthood after meeting with several knights would seem to be the key event in establishing the initial plot of the tale, his mother s sheltering is truly the underlying theme for the first step in Parzival s growth. The next woman Parzival encounters in his quest is the Lady Jechute. Whereas Herzeloyde provided the forum for establishing Parzival s innocence, Jechute is clearly the forum for displaying his innocence. Prior and during their encounter Parzival s garb and speech are largely representative of his innocence: his poor clothing and plain language presents him as little more than an unlearned peasant. When Parzival encounters Jechute alone in her tent, he misinterprets advice given to him by his mother and rather violently wrestles with her before ultimately stealing her ring. In the course of their encounter, albeit brief, we see that Parzival s innocence, in part, manifests itself in a literal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prosopagnosia Prosopagnosia is a neurological disorder that makes it difficult or virtually impossible for people to distinguish between human faces in the worst cases, even the faces of close family members. There are obvious advantages to being able to recognize people, one of which is to distinguish between friends and enemies. Fortunately, most humans, especially infants, are able to do so with great ease. According to various studies, it seems that at the age of just a few months, infants begin to fine tune their facerecognition skills for the types of faces which they see most often, usually faces of people of their own race or ethnicity (National Research Council, 2004). Due to these newer studies, it has been proven that many people suffer from prosopagnosia without experiencing any neurological damage. This form of the neurological disorder is frequently referred to as developmental or congenital prosopagnosia. For these individuals, they merely fail to develop normal face processing abilities despite normal intellectual and perceptual functions. Alternatively, other scholars situate CRT within four tenets: (1) racism is normal, (2) interest convergence, (3) historical context, and (4) narrative (Taylor, 2009). In addition, CRT pushes to confront racial ideologies like colorblindness, neutrality, meritocracy, and white privilege (Bell, 1992; Delgado Stefancic, 2012; Gotanda, 1996; Crenshaw 1988). Julian s Racist Mother in O Connor s Everything That Rises Must Converge She lifted the hat one more time and set it down slowly on her head. Two wings of gray hair protruded on either side of her florid face, but her eyes, sky blue, were as innocent as they must have been when she was ten. Where it not that she was a widow who had struggled fiercely to feed and clothe and put him through school and who was supporting him still, until he got on his feet, she might have been a little girl that he had to take to town. She tries to give the black child a penny, and thus thinks that she is indeed acting more accommodating to race, but succeeds only in drawing attention to her antiquated notions of gentility. Thus the angelic description of her physical features is very ironic. Heavenly, and Christian images are seen throughout this short story, such as Julian being described as St. Sebastian, and Julian s mother reminding him that Julian s grandmother was a Godhigh. Perhaps the images foreshadow the upcoming death of Julian s mother, and her belief that she absolutely deserves to go to heaven when she dies, though she does not know she will die by the end of the story. Julian s mother believes she has done everything right in her life, and though she is a very earnest and selfless woman, she is hardly an angel. The passage also alludes to Julian s mother being a child, or a ten year old, which may have been the age when she knew Caroline, her darky nurse. At the end of the story, she calls out for Caroline, probably because Caroline was the one who would have helped her when she was a child and in trouble, but it is poignant that she is described as being young, and in the last seconds of her life, she reverts back to the childhood that she still resembles, even after all her years and troubles. • 14. Evolutionary History of Gray Wolves Evolutionary History of Gray Wolves The gray wolf is one of the world s most well known and well researched animals with more documentation on them than any other wildlife species. It is a canid whose main habitats are in the wilderness of remote areas in North America, Eurasia and North Africa. It is the largest member of the wolf family, usually weighing between 70 and 120 lbs, and closely resembles in general appearance and proportions to a modern day breed of dog known as the German Sheppard, although they typically have a larger head, narrower chest, longer legs, straighter tails and bigger paws. The narrow chest of the gray wolf allows for swift and efficient movement through the common elements of their environment such as snow, brush and other conditions. Their larger heads indicate their higher level of intelligence and their large paws, webbed with fur aid in movement across mud and snow. The colour of a gray wolf s fur lives up to its name and is predominantly a mottled gray although the gray wolf can also have fur that is nearly pure white, mixes of red, brown, or black. Being very social animals, gray wolves do mostly everything in packs of 2 15 animals; living, traveling and hunting. • 30. The Dna Samples Of Gophers Tested Background The DNA samples of gophers tested are prime examples of evolution. There are several evolutionary processes that occurred with the species being study. Speciation occurred once a river causing their gene pools to diverge separated the gophers. This evolutionary occurrence represents allopathic speciation. Furthermore, once the species gene pool diverged the morphological species concept could be observed. The Geomys attwateri is slightly larger than the Geomys brevicep by 10 mm. During this evolutionary occurrence reproductive isolation may have occurred as well. Due to the species being isolated geologically, interbreeding no longer occurred separating the gene flow of each population. If these species were able to breed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Campbell) Although morphological observations help identify species they are not as accurate as testing the DNA of species with similar resemblance. The most accurate way to identify species is to extract their DNA and use bioinformatics. To decipher if a species by its morphology can be suggested as a hypothesis, but the results of its DNA will identify the species accurately. Tissues samples can be taken from the species in question, and the DNA can be extracted from tissue. Once the DNA is extracted it can be amplified. DNA can be amplified by the PCR procedure, in which specific gene regions can be used as barcodes to identify the species. These specific regions are known as Cytochrome oxidase 1 and Cytochrome B. Once these regions are purified and amplified, the samples can be sequenced, and the species can be identified. These procedures can solve many mysteries and questions. The DNA sequencing of different species can identify where it falls on the phylogenetic tree and where the population separated to produce a new species. These procedures help us understand the evolution of ancestors to the present and the connection between each species. Two separate species with multiple similarities can be observed, and bioinformatics can help answer that question. Purpose There are several experiments that must be conducted before a species can be identified. The tissue samples of these organisms must be obtained, and their tissues must ... • 33. Improving Sports At School Time Many parents put special emphasis on learning math and natural science for their children than paying attention to the importance of physical education. Even public schools do not allocate enough time for kids to practice sports as much as they do for class based education. In fact, physical activity for children is not only about pleasure time. Rather, it helps grown up children to extend their capacity to grasp concepts explained in their classes. Children who are active while doing physical activity are expected to be active at class time. Thus, encouraging sports at school time is essential for child development not only for educational success but also for physical, social, mental, and moral development(Griffin , 1998). Physical education helps kids to develop in many areas. Sports that require collaboration between players can help them to grasp the importance of being a part of group and how it is important to unify their effort with others to achieve certain goals. When it comes to moral development, children will learn to accept that there are always winners and losers and it s not wrong to be a loser. Moreover, since all kind of sports include competition, kids will have the chance to be physically developed in an exciting atmosphere. All these benefits will positively affect students outcome when they return to class. Therefore, public schools should consider physical activity as a crucial component of their educational objectives(.Janssen and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All business operations center on the use of finances to incur profits that benefit the company employees, shareholders and their nation s economic society. This context digs into the conduction of both managerial and corporate finance. The executive finance deals with managerial implication on financial techniques used alongside pecuniary decisions made by the company besides other financial tools and analytical procedures through corporate finance. Among the techniques used are corporate valuation, value based management, corporate governance and EPOS (Employees Stock Ownership) plans. Corporate Valuation This is the evaluation of firm value strategies by forecasting on past financial statements; presenting values of cash flow stream strategies and choosing value maxima based on the appropriate strategic plan. A firm s stock is valued through different methods such as through the discounted dividend model. Corporate valuation is channeled alongside the corporate valuation model. It is a substitute to stock valuation. The model points out company s main operational and non operational assets as well as the total worth of firm value and growth (Ehrhardt and Brigham, 2008, pg 659). • 36. The Role Of Active Faults On Fracture Development The third order fracture distribution is strongly dependent on the lithofacies architecture, especially the distribution of bedding plane discontinuities. Fractures in stratified parts of the sequence form a nested structure with a high degree of mechanical units at the scale of individual sedimentary beds. In more homogeneous rocks, a widely spaced background network of lithology irrelevant fractures is overprinted by more densely spaced fractures terminating at significant mechanical decoupling surfaces. Relationships between fracture stratigraphy and stratigraphic fracture development controls for different scale ranges as formalized in the hierarchical fracture model for the Petra case study can be used to provide constraints for nested fractured reservoir models. This methodology can help determine an appropriate homogenization scale for geo cellular fracture models, improve the prediction of the discrete sub seismic fracture distribution compared to conventional down scaling techniques and improve the constraints of stratigraphic control on wellbore up scaling. This procedure becomes increasingly more powerful when combined with the effects of other important development controls, such as the influence of active faults on fracture development. This event almost happened on multiple occasions, but this is going to be about a nerve racking time in 1962. What happened in 1962 you may ask? The Cuban Missile Crisis. Just as the year was coming to an end an American spy plane took pictures of missiles in an island 103 miles off the coast of Florida, Cuba. Can theorize who put the missiles there? The USSR put them there because Cuba was a neighboring communist country to the US, so if the US were to do something the USSR could shoot the missiles. That s what Mr. Kennedy did once he found out that the Soviets had missiles in Cuba. Mr. Kennedy put the Military in DEFCON 2. What is DEFCON you may ask and why is it a big deal if it is a lower number? DEFCON stands for defense readiness condition, with DEFCON 5 meaning to be ready and DEFCON 1 meaning nuclear war is coming. You could imagine this was terrifying for the military because this is the first time DEFCON 2 was called. Also DEFCON 2 was only called twice, during this time period and 29 years later in the first week of the Gulf War. • 40. The Inferno By Dante Alighieri Inferno by Dante Alighieri is beautifully woven to reflect the realities or unrealities of the time. The various circles of hell are used by the Florentine writer Dante, to tell the tale in a structured and elaborate manner, with the use of nine circles of the Inferno (Havely, 374). Interesting, however, is the manner in which Dante describes the characters, as they are seen to be facing tragedies in their life in hell. The author of this medieval text categorizes the different types of sins that people can commit and subjects the characters to various punishments; each is in a separate circle in hell. Lawall opines that the writer uses a style that makes the reader envision themselves in the poem (Lawall, 17). The infamous guide of Dante the character is none other than Virgilthe poet, and being born before the time of Christ, places him in the category of a virtuous pagan , who is in a matter of speaking, lost and without hope in Inferno, but not without safety that the author bestows as homage to Virgil (Alighieri, 1028). With the various messages of political strife and religious tension seeping throughout the text of the Inferno, it is clear to see that a couple who faces a tragic situation that has no ending is Paolo and Francesca. In so doing, the author subjects this adulterous couple to relatively tragic states even though they appear to possess incredible beauty in character, personality and intellect. Many of the techniques are vital for a great musician to understand. Things such as embouchure, vibrato and tone effects are all things that are required by the musician. I will be investigating the embouchure and how a correct one will substantially increase your prowess as a woodwind, particularly clarinet, player. The clarinet is a woodwind instrument that has a single reed mouthpiece. Johann Christoph Denner invented the clarinet in Germany around the turn of the 18th century by adding a register key to the earlier Chalumea. Having a correct embouchure is vitally important to playing woodwind instruments. With the woodwinds, the sound is generated by a reed and not with the lips. The embouchure is therefore based on sealing the area around the reed and the mouthpiece. This makes sure that there is no air escaping from either side of the mouthpiece when the musician is blowing. A reed instrument works by having the musician blowing a steady breath of air over the reed and through the mouthpiece. The vibrations of the reed are what produce the sound that makes up the notes. • 46. Rent Control Of The United States Philippe Bouchereau Prof. Kaycea Campbell Economics 2 11 May 2016 Rent Control in the United States Rent control is a law that places a price ceiling on the amount of rent a landlord can charge a tenant. People from middle and lower income brackets tend to benefit from rent control, while people from the upper income brackets do not. The whole purpose as to why rent control exists is so that tenants from the lower income groups are not exploited by greedy landlords through government intervention. Landlords who own property in expensive cities like San Francisco are not able to charge market rates of rent as that would displace many poor people. While rent control was created with good intentions by the government, rent control is overall more harmful to the economy than good. Rent control goes back to the days of World War I. During the years following the war, the United States was experiencing a large shortage of housing. John W. Willis, author of the article Short History of Rent Control Laws wrote, Housing shortages, however, are not new, and it should not be surprising therefore to find that modern attempts to intervene in the relationship between landlord and tenant find precedents going back hundreds of years (Willis 54). Spellbinding Metaphors In Plato s Phaedo MafГ¤dee 1 Qusai MafГ¤dee Intro to Philosophical Thkg 8:00 30 September, 2017 Test 1 One of the most spellbinding metaphors in Plato s Phaedo that shows the struggle between the body and the soul is a description of the body as a prison for the soul, so the soul is a prisoner that stuck within the material body. (Plato Phaedo 82e) The Imprisoned soul associates with the body, because of its incomprehension to get out from the prison. Therefore, the materiality intrudes more and more to contaminate the soul within the body. In which Plato s divided line steps play the role of gradually freeing the soul from its own imprison. Despite Plato s complex theory, It s philosophy that can lead the human to extract much to tell about how the humans can look at the world from wiser angles than from those of the body. Plato builds his fundamental idea about this theory that what humans see or what they used to see may not be the reality or truth but mere deceptive shadows of truth, and therefore the senses for him are deceiving and unreliable. The soul is immortal, and the body is the mortal part, in which both exist in the living human. According to Plato, when the soul dissociates from the body, the soul leaves the world of becoming and enter the world of being. However, the soul has separate ability away from the body, and this independent existence reflects the most purity state away from the body. Viewing culture as a set of assumptions and deep level values regarding relationships among humans and between humans and their environments, Kluckhohn and Strodtbeck proposed four basic value orientations, which can be further divided into sub dimensions to capture the complex cultural variations across societies. The major orientations in their model are human nature (evil, mixed, good), man nature relationship (subjugation, harmony, dominant), social relation with people (hierarchical, collateral, individual), human activity (being, becoming, doing), and time sense (past, present, future). BioMEMS devices are manufactured using similar microfabrication techniques as those used in semiconductor processing (such as photolithography, thin film deposition and etching ) to produce the desired configuration of features, including traces (thin metal wires), vias (interlayer connections), reservoirs, valves, and membranes. The interest in BioMEMS is growing rapidly, with opportunities in areas such as biosensors, pacemakers, immunoisolation capsules, and drug delivery [31]. Microcantilever is one of the most widely studied bioMEMS in the area of biosensors. It converts surface based biochemical interactions into mechanical signals. In particular, when biomolecules immobilized on the cantilever surface undergo intermolecular reactions, such as antibody antigen interaction [32], hybridization of DNA interaction [33], receptor ligand [34]; their conformational change causes a change in the surface stress on the cantilever due to reduction decrease in free energy. The deflection of the cantilever induced by the surface stress change provides a direct measure of the biomolecular interaction. For instance, the steady state cantilever deflection can indicate the fraction of immobilized biomolecules that have bound to free analytes in solution, while the time to reach steady state reflects the rate constant of the specific binding [35]. When one surface of the cantilever undergoes a surface stress change, the cantilever bends accordingly upward or downward depending on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Ethical Theory Summary Ethical Theory Summary This is an outline and summary of three of the most prominent ethical theories in the history of philosophy. (Note that all three of these represent different ethical absolutist/universalist theories. A view known as ethical relativism follows these.) Please take this as a sketch that invites you to investigate these ethical theories further. After each brief sketch, I will provide some web links that will be helpful to read. Virtue Ethics (especially Aristotle) From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtue_ethics): Virtue ethics is a branch of moral philosophy that emphasizes character, rather than rules or consequences, as the key element of ethical thinking. In the West virtue ethics was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A rule utilitarian, on the other hand, begins by looking at potential rules of action. To determine whether a rule should be followed, he looks at what would happen if it were constantly followed. If adherence to the rule produces more happiness than otherwise, it is a rule that morally must be followed at all times. The distinction between act and rule utilitarianism is therefore based on a difference about the proper object of consequentialist calculation: individual actions or rules? Also See: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/consequentialism/ http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15241c.htm Deontology (Duty Ethics) (especially Immanuel Kant) From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deontological_ethics): Deontological ethics or deontology (Greek: ОґООїОЅ (deon) meaning obligation or duty) is the theory of duty or moral obligation. [1] Deontology is also known as nonconsequentialism. Deontologists argue the rightness or wrongness of an action does not depend on the goodness or badness of its consequences. In contrast, consequentialism holds that the right act or system of rules is the one that maximizes or satisfies good consequences as determined by an impartial determination of good and evils. Deontological ethics typically is thought to involve two important elements: prerogatives and constraints. Prerogatives deny that agents must always seek to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Apalachicola Bay Research Paper 2. Methods and Materials 2.1 Study Area Apalachicola Bay is wide estuarine system located in Florida panhandle and covers an area about 539 km2 (Figure 1). The bay is relatively shallow with an average depth of 3.0 m. It is one of the most productive natural systems in North America and highly recognized by the state, federal and international organizations for its pristine water quality and unaffected estuarine habitats (ANERR, 2008). Apalachicola bay and its barrier islands were formed by deltaic processes of Apalachicola River, which is one the unpolluted alluvial system left in the United States. The bay is surrounded by four barrier islands, St. Vincent Island, Little St. George Island, St. George Island and Dog Island. The water exchange... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The validation analysis was made at AERONET WAVECIS (CSI 6) site, since that is the only ocean color site in the Gulf of Mexico. As AERONET station is located to the south of Terrebonne bay and close to the Mississippi River delta, we assumed that it should represent turbid water environment, at least during the Mississippi River flood condition. 19 clear sky Landsat images (100% clear sky image with no sun glint) are acquired over the AERONET station between 2011 and 2014. They included 5 Landsat 5 TM images, 8 Landsat 7 ETM+ images and 6 Landsat 8 OLI images. There are two ways to evaluate the validity of FLAASH corrected satellite observations, 1) by comparing Aerosol optical thickness (AOT) or horizontal visibility and 2) by relating surface reflectance (ПЃ) or water leaving radiance (Lw). In processing, Aerosol optical thickness (AOT) was obtained first just before after the satellite overpass time and averaged to keep comparison closer to satellite measurement. MODTRAN4 code in ENVI FLAASH is not freely available and therefore Although MODTRAN4 code in ENVI FLAASH calculates AOT (550 nm) using image data and historical climatology, it does not provide AOT as an output product. However, FLAASH do provide horizontal visibility which can be approximately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Research Paper On Constructivism Constructivism: A Review Abstract Constructivism is an all encompassing theory of learning that emerged as a prevailing paradigm in the last part of the twentieth century. Constructivism is a theory which brings cogitation to pedagogy (Bruner, 1966). Constructivism capitalizes on the ways in which human beings create their own personal construct of reality by understanding and experiencing the world. The cornerstone of constructivism is that constructing personal meaning is ingrained in individuals right from the birth (Vygotsky, 1978). The Overview Constructivist approach explains the ways in which learners make their own personal senses of learning tasks, the environment, the teacher, and the actual process of learning (Vygotsky, 1962). Constructivism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In education teacher acts more akin to a mediator consulting and helping learner grow. Social constructivism adopts its stance as internationalist perspective operating within social context. Learners are actively involved in the process of learning shaping their experiences about the world by other significant people (Vygotsky, 1962). 3 Constructivism is part of educational psychology which places the learner at the central focus. Learner learns by interacting in a social context of teacher and text. Each individual learner is sui generis, no two learners are the same. The ways they view the world are not the same. Learners bring these differences to the learning situation. Teachers must be cognizant of these differences. Furthermore no two teachers and teaching situations are ever the same. Like students, teachers should become self aware of their beliefs and attitude to the teaching and learning and make their own contributions to the learner as the situations arise (Williams and Burden, 1997). While learners are interacting with the task beforehand, teachers are required to take the learners response to the tasks to see if they are appropriate to their levels of developments congruent ...
