Similarities Between Clowning Around And All The Different...
We have our own problems today, but nothing compared to the alternate realities that the authors here
have created. Although these are great stories, only one of the finalists can be better. The stories
Clowning Around and All the Different Kinds of Rats are the same in the sense that they have similar
messages. These two pieces of literature have their respective similarities and differences, but the big
topic here is a problem. Firstly, the similarities between the two pieces. The message of unity or lack
thereof is portrayed in both pieces. Passages like The people then started to divide themselves or What
set them apart was mostly age, which they were able to overcome show how important unity can be,
or how weak a lack of cooperation is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story Clowning Around is told in a broad, third person viewpoint. The story takes place in a
prolonged amount of time in 745 words, but there are quick transitions and quick elevation of tension,
but there is a sense of graduality that works out in the authors favor. The story jumps from the sun
rising to the as the people wake up multiple times. All the Different Kinds of Rats, however, has a
specific third person perspective and a small time frame. Only one day in 737 words, but the detail
from the newspapers and gum to a diminutive mattress this story isn t entirely pure story or action, but
provides more background and context. Lastly, the actual situations of the two stories are completely
different, but I think that the way that Clowning Around represents reality is quite brilliant, and the
social commentary of what can happen is so genius that you need to read between the lines to notice
it. All the Different Kinds of Rats, on the other hand, is a story about two poor brothers struggling
through everyday life, and while this does convey a deeper message, it doesn t feel like the author
made any comment on a relevant

Essay On Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula
INTRODUCTION:
Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is a rare vascular malformation accounting for 1.6 % of
all intracranial vascular malformations [1]. Approximately 170 cases of pial arteriovenous fistulae
have been reported since 1970. It consists of one or more arterial feeders and usually a single venous
channel [2]. The direct arteriovenous shunt results in high venous blood flow and varix formation with
the subsequent risk of haemorrhage. PAVF can be congenital or result from iatrogenic or traumatic
injury [2]. However, the exact cause remains elusive. PAVF may present with a wide range of
neurologic symptoms including an asymptomatic state, head ache, seizures, focal neurologic deficit to
potentially catastrophic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Patients were followed up, mRS at 3 months was assessed. After that patients were followed up at one
year. Outcome were categorized as neurologically excellent without any symptoms (modified Rankin
Scale 0), good (modified Rankin Scale 1 or 2) and poor (modified Rankin Scale score 2).
RESULTS
Fourteen patients were treated with endovascular means. One patient showed spontaneous obliteration
of the fistula just prior to interventional procedure. Of these nine patients (60%) were male patients
and six were female. The mean age of the treated patients was 12.5 with a range of 3 to 32 years. The
mean age of all the patients was years 14 with a range of 3 to 37 years.

The Pros And Cons Of Bullying
In this world of negativity, I believe that you should stay positive. When I was in elementary school, I
used to get bullied for being bigger than all the other kids. I didn t understand why was I getting
bullied, but I was still nice. I did what I was supposed to do to maintain good grades and pass all my
classes. Staying positive in a world full of mean people can take you as far, as you allow it too.
Being bullied made me feel like I wasn t good enough. I was called names for being fat and not
dressing like everyone else. Being in elementary school, you don t think that dressing a certain way or
looking a certain way is a big deal. I tried looking like everyone else but my family was struggling so
that was an epic fail. Both my parents we on drugs but I didn t think it would affect me this bad. I was
depressed as a chill but I still got up for school to face those bullies. With drug addicted parents and
having to face bullies on a daily basis on push me hard to keep up good grades. I knew I had someone
that I could trust. By the time I hit middle school, I was still going to through the same situation. I
thought there I had no one to turn to since talking to my parents, my teachers and friends didn t do me
much justice. I finally met two people who helped change things for me. Mrs. V was a school
counselor and Ms. Pam was a lady who worked in the nurse s office. Mrs. V and Ms. Pam was the
light at the end of my dark tunnel.

Ethical Dilemmas In Emergency Medical Services And Fire...
The career field I am in Is Emergency medical services and fire service. One of the major ethical
issues I ve come across is the refusal of care. Depending on the person s injury and they have the right
to refuse the help we have to offer. The factors that go along with this is, the person must be legally
competent to make their own choices, meaning their not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or
have an injury that impairs there capabilities. They have to be 18 years of age, if they are not 18, they
must either be a parent themselves or emancipated. Along with those they must also understand the
risks of refusal which is provided to them. For example, an elderly man who is having chest pain. His

Darfur Conflict
I. Introduction Almost five years have passed since Darfur, the western region of Sudan, erupted in
bloody conflict. The crisis in Darfur is not an accidental disaster, or a human catastrophe that
humanitarian intervention can reverse or solve. The conflict is as not simple as presented in the media,
which casts the conflict in terms of Arabs versus black Africans. The reality is far more muddled. It is
a human tragedy, brewing for decades, that finally erupted into a vicious cycle of violence in 2003.[1]
The Darfur conflict is not only a problem for the Sudanese, but is also a regional problem. The
conflict is threatening the stability in other regions of Sudan, and in neighboring countries like Chad,
and the Central African Republic. Looking at its nature, magnitude and internal dynamics that fuel it,
one can see that, unless it is addressed soon, the conflict has the potential to plague the whole region
with a continuous cycle of violence and lawlessness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, regional and international actors have carried out several peace initiatives to end the
violence. The peace efforts that constitute the Darfur peace process include the N Djamena peace
negotiations of September 2003 and April 2004,[2] The Addis Ababa peace negotiations of May 2004,
[3] the Abuja peace negotiations of August 2004 May 2006,[4] and the Sirte peace negotiations of
October 2007.[5] These peace initiatives have not made substantial progress towards sustainable
peace. Since the peace efforts began in 2003, every peace effort has been followed by increased
violence, and ultimately, the peace process has failed. Therefore, the key research question that this
paper sets out to answer is: Why did the Darfur Peace Process

The Transformational Journey Of Leadership
Leadership is unlocking people s potential to become better. Bill Bradley
The transformational journey of leadership is marked by personal growth and development. Once you
become a leader, success in the area of leadership is characterized by your ability to assist others in
their own personal growth and development.
As a child, nascent experiences shaped my values around selflessness and the intrinsic ability to
empower myself and others to reach optimal potential. My greatest desire has always been to enhance
the wellbeing of those that find it difficult to live their lives to their fullest potential. Throughout my
childhood, I was extremely inquisitive; I was curious about why people behaved in certain ways. I
have always desired to better understand the behaviors of individuals and groups. As a result of the
aforementioned interests and experiences, I pursued an undergraduate degree as a psychology major at
Xavier University of Louisiana.
I found myself specifically interested in classes that focused on the diagnosis and treatment of
disorders, such as abnormal psychology, human sexuality and psychotherapies.
Such classes encouraged my specific focus on issues related to mental health and emotional instability.
I became encouraged to pursue my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health and
School Counseling. More specifically, my educational trajectory coursework has sought to convey the
effects of therapy and other psychological concepts. This has shaped my desire to

Anxiety And Learning Anxiety
Adolescents today are forced to face the intensified stressors of life in our high pressured society and
the cognitive, physiological, and emotional changes that take place throughout this stage of
development. As a result, the rates of many psychopathologies increase significantly among
adolescents ages 10 16. Extensive research that shows that anxiety levels and disrupted social skills
can be particularly high among adolescents with learning disabilities (LD). However, the origin of
anxiety as it relates to LD has yet to be determined, making it hard to treat. On the one hand, there
exists the deficit in study skills model in which anxiety is a result of low self assurance and feeling
unprepared due to deficient knowledge. On the other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the authors hypothesized that if mindfulness meditation can encourage attentional factors and
self esteem and, thus, reduce anxiety, it may also concurrently enhance social skills and academic
performance. They also hypothesized that mindfulness meditation (MM) would positively influence
all three of these outcome variables by mitigating cognitive interference. The participant sample was
composed of thirty
two adolescent volunteers (aged 13 17) recruited from four classes in a private high
school for children with LD. For five days a week, the participants were led in mindfulness meditation
(not identified with MBSR) for five to ten minutes at the beginning of each class period by two
classroom teachers. The researchers used a pre
post no control design composed of three tests: the
Social Skills Rating System (SSRS), The State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Attitudinal
questions. All three surveys were completed by both the students and their two teachers. On post
‐
intervention surveys, students self
reported both decreased state (short
term) and trait (long
term)
anxiety (STAI test). Moreover, the teachers reported improvements of students social skills and
academic performance (SRRS and attitudinal questions surveys). The variables above showed
significant improvements in the post
test (all p values .05). Although not directly assessed, these results

Film Analysis Of Nanook Of The North
Nanook of the North: Directed by Robert Flaherty, Nanook of the North (1922) is one of the most
famous travel films, or scenics, of all time. Flaherty spent years in Canada learning the culture of the
Inuit (eskimo) people there. What makes this story so captivating is that it is presented as more of a
drama than a documentary. Flaherty staged many scenes to portray Nanook as a protagonist, and the
harsh snowy environment as the antagonist. The way the footage was edited together helped make the
film interesting, since many of the sequences by themselves are boring. After being turned down by
many distribution companies, Flaherty eventually was able to get his film in theaters, where it became
a huge success, even so much as to become a staple of pop culture of the time. Over time, the film has
come to represent the eternal struggle between man and nature.
Agitki : At the dawn of the USSR, Vladimir Lenin proclaimed: Of all the arts, for us the cinema is the
most important. Lenin believed this because cinema was the easiest way to spread propaganda at the
time. Much of the people living in the Russian countryside were impoverished and illiterate. By
sending out propaganda films, called agitki, Lenin found the perfect method of educating the rural
masses on the new state of their government. This type of propaganda was meant to agitate and
enthuse audiences. They were typically very short, but also effective in spreading news to the
uneducated rural masses. In addition

Using Utilitarian Ethicals to Determine Right From Wrong...
Introduction
In 1975 the board of directors for a company that makes transistors were presented with an ethical
dilemma. They were the last transistor company that was selling to a pacemaker company as a result
of other companies backing out of the business due to the failure of some pacemakers leading to
deaths of some of those who used them. At the time, pacemaker technology was extremely new and
had yet to develop into the ground breaking product that it is today. The ethical dilemma presented to
the board was whether or not to continue to sell their transistor to the company and risk the negative
connotation and ultimately the loss of shareholders in the company, associated with the deaths that
occurred (Shanks, 1996). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second issue to be analyzed counters that possible result. If the transistor company were to
continue in business then there lies the opportunity to save countless lives that could benefit greatly
due to the technology. Yes, the company is putting itself at risk, but for the result of saving people who
really need pacemakers. It is known that pacemakers have failed before, but it can be assumed that the
aforementioned pacemakers did not have this company s transistor in it or else they most likely would
ve already left the contract. That being said, there is the possibility that the other transistors that were
being used were just poorly made (Shanks, 1996). As a result of this, the main Utilitarian issue being
presented is does the company end the contract and not take the unnecessary risk associated, or do
they continue the contract and potentially save countless lives?
Bentham s Advice to the Company Jeremy Bentham defined Utilitarian ethics as we are to promote
pleasure and act to reduce pain. (Driver, 2009). Bentham defined these ethics by taking into account
an array of parameters that included intensity, certainty, proximity, fecundity, purity and the amount of
people affected by a given decision (Driver, 2009).
Analyzing these parameters, it is clear to say Bentham would give the advice of staying with the
contract. By staying with the contract, the

Pros And Cons Of A Child With Special Needs
Prisoners with Special Needs
A child with special needs tend to inspire us to be more patient and grateful while a prisoner with
special needs makes us wonder where the parents and inmate went wrong. The United States
Corrections system is home to thousands of prisoners. The purpose of this paper is to explain how
special needs, mentally ill, and substance abusing prisoners affect the jail and prison systems at both
state and federal levels. The effects of neglect towards these prisoners will be explained and possible
consequences associated with the acts. Lastly, the pros and cons of prison programs for special needs
inmates will be thoroughly explained.
Effects on the Jails and Prisons There are several different types of offenders in prison. Among the
prison population are mentally ill prisoners, special needs offenders, and substance abusing offenders.
These special offenders affect the jail and prison systems at state and federal levels because they
require more intensive or specialized services to be successfully reintegrated into society. If they do
not receive special attention, they can harm themselves or others, or become sick from substance
related illnesses. Mentally ill offenders must have access to psychiatric health, mental health therapies,
psychotropic medications, and types of special offenders need to be separated from the rest of the
prison population to prevent them from hurting other inmates. They also must be monitored at all
times so they do not

Essay On Fun Home By Alison Bechdel
Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic is an autobiography written by Alison Bechdel. The graphic novel
takes its readers through Alison Bechdel s childhood using engaging diction and detailed drawings.
One of the big themes of Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic is the discovery of one s sexual orientation.
Over the course of her life, Alison Bechdel eventually comes to the realization that she is a lesbian.
Ultimately, Alison Bechdel uses this novel to recount her experience of events that helped to shape her
personal identity, which resulted in a transformation of the way she sees herself. In the end, Fun

It is no secret that when Alison Bechdel was a child, homosexuality was not exactly met with open
arms. Due to the unpleasant views many heterosexuals had in regards to homosexuality, Alison
Bechdel was at first quite cautious when it came to being open about her newfound sexual orientation;
however, she eventually opened herself up to her family, friends, and the world about who she is and
did not let the political prejudices of others stop her. This is evident when Bechdel writes, It was in
that tremulous state that I determined to tell my parents. Keeping it from them had started to seem
ludicrous anyway (76). Here, Bechdel decides to come out to her parents, deciding that it was absurd
not to tell them. Evidently, the prejudices of society could not keep Alison Bechdel down, and this
resulted in her personality being shaped by the courage of being oneself, which is hardly an easy thing

William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream Essay
Generally, the relationship between the sun and the moon is a metaphorical construct of the male and
female gender. However, in William Shakespeare s, A Midsummer Night s Dream, the author develops
the traditional representation of a gendered sun and moon further, in order to symbolize the two
celestial bodies, now, as masculine and feminine oppositions. More specifically, Shakespeare expands
on the traditional idea of the sun and moon as a gender concept by identifying both as a union, and the
relationships that solidify these bonds, in which he delineates the opposition of romance to the
opposition of the sun and moon; in its destructive and regenerative aspect, the moon accompanies the
resolution of the conflicts, that is, the infidelity between lovers, and shed its light over a return to
individual and social order.
As a result, the function of moon imagery shift according to the lunar cycle (old and new phases),
which subsequently, creates the play s themes of dreamscape, female bodily change and chastity, and
most importantly, the romance and infidelities experienced in a relationship. Psychologically, A
Midsummer Night s Dream, starts in the light of day, symbolizing consciousness, and descends into
the depths of the unconscious, moonless night. Similarly, Shakespeare s use of moon imagery assumes
a new, or invisible, phase laying the foundation for the texts theme of dreamscape; consequently, the
dreamscape theme and the imagery of the moon are reduced to

Similarities And Similarities Between Blues And Jazz
The relation between Blues and Jazz music can be discovered if we look closely and scrutinize the
origins of both the music genres. How one developed can be found out from the roots of the other as
both the separate genres use similar sound patterns. Both of these genres belong to a different
decade/era however, are closely linked to one another. In this essay I will deliver a brief history of
both Blues and Jazz, their similarities, and also discuss how the advancement of technology has
affected the way we hear both these genres of music.
Looking back at the history of Blues music, one can see the influence of the African American
community, tradition, and culture very apparent in it. The Blues music genre came into being from the

Blues and Jazz began to share similarities during the 30s and 40s with artists like T Bone Walker and
B.B. King, who combined Jazz techniques with the tonality and repertoire of their Blues music
(Rolling Stone Encyclopedia, 53). In return, Blues chord progressions such as the twelve bar blues are
utilized by Jazz musicians during the improvisational sections of their music pieces.
To remark on some of the different features of both the styles of music, the main difference between
Blues and Jazz is the fact that Blues is characterized by the slow, melancholic tempo and lyrics, and
the utilization of guitar and piano. Whereas Jazz music relies on the basic chord structure and breaks
off into heavy improvisational sections being tied back in with the same basic tune. It is true that the
advent of Blues music came well before Jazz, however, the great influence that Jazz has in the Blues
music heard today is astonishing. Similar to the Jazz long improvisational sections, the Blues of today
has adopted that strategy and added long sections of guitar solos being tied back with the same basic
chord structure and vocal

Compare And Contrast Two Places In California And Colorado

on the western side of North America. The states that border Colorado are Wyoming, Utah, Arizona,
New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. The demographics of California are more diverse
than other regions in the United States. The population of California is estimated total is 39,144,818

a thing for myself. I was bedridden for a month. A social worker came in the door and sat with me to
figure out the best way to help me. I then realized two things. The first one was that people sometimes
need help to solve their problems and I needed a job that was not too physical. Help is not a bad thing
to need especially if it is done in a way to help you better yourself. A human being needs someone to
talk to or show them a way that they cannot see at the time.
I was greatly influenced by my battle with cancer. I was very young at the time and my life was just

Essay On San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution
Have you ever wondered where majority of the air pollution comes from and how it s caused since
half of the population here in the San Joaquin Valley are affected due to the contamination of the air.
Many people around the world question themselves of air pollution but don t know where it comes
from. It s noticeable for example pesticides, ozone levels rising, vehicle pollution, toxic waste
burning, wildfires, and the list goes on. The San Joaquin Valley for many have been battling for better
air quality but instead of getting better it seems to be getting worse. The air quality can contribute to
dangerous health issues and environmental effects. We humans aren t the only ones who are suffering
from these devastating chemicals being used on a daily basis. Humans in general, Environmental
Protection Agency, or California have to find ways or solutions to limit the usage of any type of air
pollution being spread all around the world. However, air pollution contributes to several health
problems that can either be longer term effect or short term effect. Limiting the usage of ozone into
the air will reduce the chance of new born children from suffering major effects that can later turn ...

The Olympic Games Of The Games
The Olympic games originated in Athens in 776 B.C. The more popular modern day Olympic games
began nearly 2300 years later in 1896. The games no longer represented a religious festival, but a
sports competition instead. The games can be studied via multiple aspects such as political, social, and
economic, but this paper will concentrate on the economic aspect of the games and more specifically,
the macroeconomic impacts the games possess. It is evident that hosting the Olympics games is no
walk in the park. The countries trusted with this task have to spend billions to make the games a
reality. Some people believe that the countries, even after spending billions of dollars benefit from the
games, while others believe that the money can be spent elsewhere more efficiently. To reach a
conclusion, one must study all of the different impacts in all of the different sectors the games have.
London was not the only option when it came to the 2012 summer Olympics. France was also in the
running and was actually pretty close to getting the gig. London won the bidding race with 54 50 votes
from the International Olympic Committee. The need of some economic spark for London s economy
may have been the reason why the vote went their way. London s economy had been stuck in a
recession for almost a nine month period. The question was: Are the Olympics going to provide a
positive benefit for London s economy?
Employment
Preparing for the Olympics takes a lot of time, effort and money.

Understanding Moral Relativism
Hi Class, Ravi Zacharias discuss all truth is relative. He explains, that if you are uncertain about
something, then measure yourself by stability. Dr. Craig provides the example of the student who
writes a paper on moral relativism and receives an F. Then, he argued it was not fair, learning a
valuable lesson. I believe both videos are helpful for understanding moral relativism. I believe moral
relativism is understood based on how the person lives their life and how it reacts to others. Moral
relativism is not based on any morals, but what the person s belief based on their feelings and even
their culture can affect their lives. For instance, a person might believe murdering is wrong, but if the
cultures determined is right? For example,

In The Pursuit of Happiness
Individuals try to find happiness, but like water or air, it is hard to clench in your hands. As defined in
Merriam Webster (2014), happiness is a state of well being and contentment. However, happiness is
hard to achieve, but it can be as simple as being contented, doing what you love, and living who you
really are. Furthermore, everyone asks how one would know that they have it already.
Happiness is hard to achieve. Some people follow several steps in order to get what they want. People
have unlimited wants. However, not all the things they want can give them happiness. Like what
Matthie Ricard (2007) said Happiness is a state of inner fulfillment, not the gratification of
inexhaustible desires for outward things. (p. 31) Happiness is ... Show more content on

One should be the captain of their own ship in order to be happy. Despite the fact that happiness seems
unattainable, it can be as simple as being contented. It is something that comes from people s action.
People should do what they need to. They make things happen and pursue new understandings. They
need to have a sense of purpose. Without purpose, everything is lost. If people have a sense of purpose
in their life, they can easily fulfill their satisfactions. Satisfying their wants would make them happy.
However, being happy is not all about satisfying people s wants. It is also about being contented with
what they have. The growth of happiness is directly proportional to acceptance and inversely to
expectations (Fox, 2007). Acceptance of the things around a person, whether it is good or bad, can
make one truly happy. In everything people do, one must follow where their heart is. From the
simplest things to the hardest ones, people must follow their heart. In making their decisions and
choosing their options, it is best to consult their own feelings. Following one s heart would really
make one happy. It would also avoid regrets in the end. Since they chose what they really love, they
would freely accept whatever the result is. Happiness is doing what you love. Moreover, people must
love what they need to do. They cannot always do what they only want to do. If people keep

Linda Tirado On Child Rearing
More than 16 million children in the United States 22% of all children live in families with incomes
below the federal poverty level $23,550 a year for a family of four. Research shows that, on average,
families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. Using this standard, 45% of
children live in low income families ( NCCP Child Poverty ). With these alarming statistics it should
be no question as to whether if one is living in poverty should one be having children. The importance
of proper child rearing is essential to child development. In the novel, Hand to Mouth by Linda
Tirado, having children while in poverty is one of the topics addressed. Although Tirado attempts to
justify someone having a child while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One counter argument, even stated in Hand to Mouth, is that people have children for love and
comfort. Many people who live in poverty are alone and on their own. By having children, they will
have someone in their life who will finally love them unconditionally. Tirado states Why does anyone
have a second child, or a third? Because their family feels unfinished (Tirado 105). Having a child
may give someone a reason to try harder to make more money in order to provide for a better life.
Another argument is poverty does not always necessarily mean neglect. A child will still be cared for
and loved to the best of the parents ability regardless of income. No matter how much money one
makes this does not take away from their ability to parent. Lastly, everyone has the biological instinct
to have children to continue their lineage. Evolution is the driving forces behind the desire to have
children. If people stopped having children, not only will their lineage die out, but it reduces the
amount of genetic variation. Summarized by Ker Than, Charles Darwin stated that organisms change
over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits. Changes that allow an
organism to better adapt to its environment will help it survive and have more offspring

Essay On Populism
There are, of course, other definitions of populism that are worth at least exploring. One particularly
popular book has been What is Populism by Princeton professor Jan Werner Müller. His definition
asserts that Populism is a moralistic imagination of politics that is anti pluralist and claims exclusive
representation of the people. (Müller 2016, Pg. 20) Ironically, he uses Wallace s Segregation forever
comment to support this claim. We actually argue that this moment was the attaching of populism to
nativist ideology in order to build a winning coalition (as is attested by Wallace himself), not an actual
expression of populism itself (Rowan 1991). We reject his definition on several grounds. The first is
the premise that populists must necessarily be anti pluralist. There is no ground in which this must be
the case. In fact, populist voting populations must be pluralistic in and of themselves, because as he
makes clear, there is no such thing as a homogenous people in existence. The only sense in which they
are not plural is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3). Under this conceptualization the oft used term silent majority makes little sense in the reality of
populism, if populist believe that they speak with the authority of everyone. This seems to be a
convenient theoretical position, not an actual description of populism in the real world. This ironically,
leads to him excluding the original American Populist party of the 1890 s from his own definition of
Populism. Additionally, right wing populism surely differentiates between the elites themselves and
those they view as below them. (See diadic [left wing] vs. triadic [right wing] populism.) Populism is
about a claim to the volonte generale (general will), not the absolute will of the people. (Mudde and

The Outbreak Of Ebola Virus
The Ebola virus is a pandemic that is of much concern around the world, lately. It was not always a
concern of this magnitude. Ebolavirus is the etiologic agent. It is a relatively new virus, introduced
just in 1970. It was first discovered in Sudan and Zaire (it was named after the Ebola river is Zaire).
The first outbreak occurred in Sudan infecting about 284 people, with a mortality rate of 53%
(Waterman, 1999). Just a few months later, the second strain of the Ebola virus (Eboz) became
prevalent in Zaire. It had a much higher mortality rate than the strand in Sudan (Ebola Sudan) of 88%
and is still to this day the strain of Ebola with the highest mortality rate. It infected 318 people during
the outbreak of Zaire. Two more strains of this deadly virus were discovered in 1989 and in 1994, but
the mortality rate of those not as high as their predecessors. Most of the Ebola cases throughout
history were located in western and southern Africa in countries such as Guinea, Liberia, Sierra
Leone, and Nigeria (CDC, 2014). Recently, within the last month, Senegal and the US have seen their
first cases of the virus. The new cases have brought the total death count from Ebola to 3493. The
virus itself is native to Africa and is extremely prevalent in non human primates and bats. There is a
vast majority of the population in Africa that consumes these infected animals, which is believed to be
how humans first contracted the disease (Ehrlich, 2014). Just like any virus, Ebola

The Economic Aspects Associated With Globalization
Quoted by the Financial Times as the integration of economies, industries, markets, cultures and
policy making around the world , globalisation has thrived in recent years owing to developments in
communication, transportation and trade, accompanied by the enhancement and increased use of
information technology. Whilst at first glance this could be regarded as beneficial, it has nonetheless
provoked a number of high profile and often violent protests of late. Notably the biggest anti
globalisation demonstration ever experienced was in Seattle in 1999 involving 40,000 activists (BBC
News). Globalisation has a multitude of different facets, ranging from the worlds of research and
health, to media and technology. This essay however, will look at the economic aspects associated
with globalization and will seek to explore some of the reasons behind these protests. Contrastingly, it
will also look at the benefits of this increase in interconnectivity examining how a rise in business
wealth will allow others to share the benefits. One of the obvious benefits of globalisation is the
increase in free trade throughout the world and the affect this has on consumers. Temin (1999)
recognised that when the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) was initiated, it proved to
be the initial trigger in the reduction and removal of barriers to trade. With increasing market access as
a result of globalisation, Countries have taken advantage of specialization and traded in particular

Analysis Of A P
Choice and Class are the two major themes in Updike s A P, displayed through the main character,
Sammy, and several background characters, including the three girls the story is based around. These
two ideals are explored through the point of view of the main character, the depth in which the
characters are described(both physically and in their own life) and how the characters are framed in
relation to one another. Part of what helped Updike frame the themes was the in depth description of
the characters. Every character, even secondary, or characters who seemingly had nothing to do with
the plot, were described in great detail. Not only were their physical aspects detailed, but even how the
characters moved in the story, or how they interacted with each other. For example, Sammy s
description of the three girls, when he says, The sheep pushing their carts down the aisle the girls were
walking against the usual traffic (not that we have one way signs or anything) (Updike 463). That
description of how the girls moved in the store is one of the first inklings of individuality. They were
moving against the grain of the people in the store, but also they are moving against the grain of
society and social norms. The way they showed their individuality is also exemplifies through the
description of the swimsuits they were wearing. It is one of the central parts of the story because
wearing only swimsuits in a store was and still is seen as improper. This defiance of decency

1. The definition for Arlington County goes with what the state and federal government adheres to and
bases its assessments on the most current possible manner. They recognize the diversity by putting the

The Office of Gifted Services reflects this philosophy and complies with Virginia Regulations

Argumentative Essay-Dance Is A Sport
Dance is a Sport
Is dance a sport? A sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or
team competes against another or others for entertainment, dance is just that, but others consider it an
art or even just a halftime show. Dance teams in high schools do not get funded as much as other
sports and they get very little to no recognition at school or even on big sports channels. Dance meets
the requirements to even be an Olympic sport. Dance should be considered a sport as much as other
athletics.
First of all, there is very little funding that goes into dance, considering it is a sport and needs to be
equal to the other athletics. At Madisonville North Hopkins High School the dance team starts out the
season with only the remaining money that the team raised the previous season, it is different from
other sports. For example, football was given $9,500 this year to start out the season. Another major
issue is that the dance team has to practice in the lobby, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

accounts of dance that people witness is at halftime during a game. Dance does not have a weekly
event scheduled for it like soccer, basketball, or other high school or college sports teams, which is
another reason why many don t see it as a sport. The only events that dance has is big competitions
that usually happen on the weekends. In dance, you can compete against large groups, duets, or even

The Case Of Missouri Vs. Seibert
In the Case of Missouri v. Seibert, a mother named Patrice Seibert was convicted of second degree
murder. Patrice Seibert had a son named Jonathan who was twelve years old and had cerebral palsy.
Jonathan Seibert suddenly died in his sleep, and his mother thought that she would be held responsible
for his sudden death. Ms. Seibert then devised a plan with her two older sons and their friends. She
wanted to cover up the death of Jonathan, so she conspired with her sons and their friends to cover up
the death by burning down their mobile home. Donald Rector was a mentally ill individual who stayed
with the Seibert s and later died as the home went up in flames. Several days later, Seibert was taken
into the police station and questioned about the mysterious mobile home fire. While being
interrogated, the officer waved Ms. Seibert s Miranda rights. She was questioned for thirty to forty
minutes before she was given a break. While being questioned, the officer hoped that Ms. Seibert
would voluntarily confess to the crimes that had taken place. After her break, she was then questioned
a second time. This time, the officer turned on a recorder and then read Ms. Seibert her Miranda
Warnings, and the officer also obtained a signed waiver of rights from Seibert. The issues the court
must decide are whether withholding Miranda Warnings to obtain a confession is considered
admissible in court. In the case of Missouri v. Seibert, Ms. Seibert was questioned before her

Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven
Insanity, the unsoundness of the mind, and madness are topics that are difficult to understand.
However, Edgar Allen Poe s poem, The Raven presents the concept of insanity in an enchanting way.
In this paper, I am going to argue that Poe s use of the image of the raven represents the narrators
budding madness and could possibly be viewed as a symbol for his subconscious mind in the poem.
Poe seems to structure the raven in this way through his abstract language, form, tone, symbolism and
imagery. Although The Raven is rich in symbolism, the plot is actually quite simple. In the poem, the
unnamed speaker is reading and nearly napping in his home alone on a bleak December night when he
hears a tapping at his door. He is in a deep sorrow over the loss of Lenore who is assumed to be the
speaker s deceased wife/lover. He discovers that it is a raven that was tapping at his door and he
begins to speak to the bird who responds only with the phrase nevermore . As the poem ends, the
speaker seems to have been driven into a fit of insanity because of his conversations with the raven.
Like many of Poe s poems the setting of The Raven is dark and gloomy. In the first stanza, we learn
that it is late at night, Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, (1). Moreover,
the speaker suggests that the night was a bleak December , further cementing the dismal tone of the
poem. It seems significant that Poe chose the poem to take place at midnight and in

Catalase possesses a range of optimal temperatures depending on what organism those cells belong to.
Human catalase has an optimum temperature of around 45 degrees Celsius, whereas plants have a

Zachary Miller Case Study
Despite Zach Miller becoming a favorite target for Cutler last season, Chicago has a lot of answered
questions remaining at the tight end position. As this week s minicamp practices come to an end, the
bears have added Tony Moeaki to their 90 man roster.
Moeaki was simply using the minicamp as an effort to try out and be noticed by someone on the Bears
coaching staff. With the bears wanting to add strength to the position, giving Moeaki the last spot on
the 90 man roster appeared to be a wise decision.
After being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft, Chicago will be the
5th team that Moeaki has been a part of. His most productive season to this point in his career has
been his rookie season when he accumulated 556 yards on 47 receptions. He also was able to find the

  • 2. Similarities Between Clowning Around And All The Different... We have our own problems today, but nothing compared to the alternate realities that the authors here have created. Although these are great stories, only one of the finalists can be better. The stories Clowning Around and All the Different Kinds of Rats are the same in the sense that they have similar messages. These two pieces of literature have their respective similarities and differences, but the big topic here is a problem. Firstly, the similarities between the two pieces. The message of unity or lack thereof is portrayed in both pieces. Passages like The people then started to divide themselves or What set them apart was mostly age, which they were able to overcome show how important unity can be, or how weak a lack of cooperation is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story Clowning Around is told in a broad, third person viewpoint. The story takes place in a prolonged amount of time in 745 words, but there are quick transitions and quick elevation of tension, but there is a sense of graduality that works out in the authors favor. The story jumps from the sun rising to the as the people wake up multiple times. All the Different Kinds of Rats, however, has a specific third person perspective and a small time frame. Only one day in 737 words, but the detail from the newspapers and gum to a diminutive mattress this story isn t entirely pure story or action, but provides more background and context. Lastly, the actual situations of the two stories are completely different, but I think that the way that Clowning Around represents reality is quite brilliant, and the social commentary of what can happen is so genius that you need to read between the lines to notice it. All the Different Kinds of Rats, on the other hand, is a story about two poor brothers struggling through everyday life, and while this does convey a deeper message, it doesn t feel like the author made any comment on a relevant ... • 7. Essay On Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula INTRODUCTION: Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is a rare vascular malformation accounting for 1.6 % of all intracranial vascular malformations [1]. Approximately 170 cases of pial arteriovenous fistulae have been reported since 1970. It consists of one or more arterial feeders and usually a single venous channel [2]. The direct arteriovenous shunt results in high venous blood flow and varix formation with the subsequent risk of haemorrhage. PAVF can be congenital or result from iatrogenic or traumatic injury [2]. However, the exact cause remains elusive. PAVF may present with a wide range of neurologic symptoms including an asymptomatic state, head ache, seizures, focal neurologic deficit to potentially catastrophic ... • 8. The Pros And Cons Of Bullying In this world of negativity, I believe that you should stay positive. When I was in elementary school, I used to get bullied for being bigger than all the other kids. I didn t understand why was I getting bullied, but I was still nice. I did what I was supposed to do to maintain good grades and pass all my classes. Staying positive in a world full of mean people can take you as far, as you allow it too. Being bullied made me feel like I wasn t good enough. I was called names for being fat and not dressing like everyone else. Being in elementary school, you don t think that dressing a certain way or looking a certain way is a big deal. I tried looking like everyone else but my family was struggling so that was an epic fail. Both my parents we on drugs but I didn t think it would affect me this bad. I was depressed as a chill but I still got up for school to face those bullies. With drug addicted parents and having to face bullies on a daily basis on push me hard to keep up good grades. I knew I had someone that I could trust. By the time I hit middle school, I was still going to through the same situation. I thought there I had no one to turn to since talking to my parents, my teachers and friends didn t do me much justice. I finally met two people who helped change things for me. Mrs. V was a school counselor and Ms. Pam was a lady who worked in the nurse s office. Mrs. V and Ms. Pam was the light at the end of my dark tunnel. Mrs. V and Ms. Pam were placed in my life ... One of the major ethical issues I ve come across is the refusal of care. Depending on the person s injury and they have the right to refuse the help we have to offer. The factors that go along with this is, the person must be legally competent to make their own choices, meaning their not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or have an injury that impairs there capabilities. They have to be 18 years of age, if they are not 18, they must either be a parent themselves or emancipated. Along with those they must also understand the risks of refusal which is provided to them. • 10. Darfur Conflict I. Introduction Almost five years have passed since Darfur, the western region of Sudan, erupted in bloody conflict. The crisis in Darfur is not an accidental disaster, or a human catastrophe that humanitarian intervention can reverse or solve. The conflict is as not simple as presented in the media, which casts the conflict in terms of Arabs versus black Africans. The reality is far more muddled. It is a human tragedy, brewing for decades, that finally erupted into a vicious cycle of violence in 2003.[1] The Darfur conflict is not only a problem for the Sudanese, but is also a regional problem. The conflict is threatening the stability in other regions of Sudan, and in neighboring countries like Chad, and the Central African Republic. Looking at its nature, magnitude and internal dynamics that fuel it, one can see that, unless it is addressed soon, the conflict has the potential to plague the whole region with a continuous cycle of violence and lawlessness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, regional and international actors have carried out several peace initiatives to end the violence. The peace efforts that constitute the Darfur peace process include the N Djamena peace negotiations of September 2003 and April 2004,[2] The Addis Ababa peace negotiations of May 2004, [3] the Abuja peace negotiations of August 2004 May 2006,[4] and the Sirte peace negotiations of October 2007.[5] These peace initiatives have not made substantial progress towards sustainable peace. Since the peace efforts began in 2003, every peace effort has been followed by increased violence, and ultimately, the peace process has failed. Therefore, the key research question that this paper sets out to answer is: Why did the Darfur Peace Process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Transformational Journey Of Leadership Leadership is unlocking people s potential to become better. Bill Bradley The transformational journey of leadership is marked by personal growth and development. Once you become a leader, success in the area of leadership is characterized by your ability to assist others in their own personal growth and development. As a child, nascent experiences shaped my values around selflessness and the intrinsic ability to empower myself and others to reach optimal potential. My greatest desire has always been to enhance the wellbeing of those that find it difficult to live their lives to their fullest potential. Throughout my childhood, I was extremely inquisitive; I was curious about why people behaved in certain ways. I have always desired to better understand the behaviors of individuals and groups. As a result of the aforementioned interests and experiences, I pursued an undergraduate degree as a psychology major at Xavier University of Louisiana. I found myself specifically interested in classes that focused on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders, such as abnormal psychology, human sexuality and psychotherapies. Such classes encouraged my specific focus on issues related to mental health and emotional instability. I became encouraged to pursue my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling. More specifically, my educational trajectory coursework has sought to convey the effects of therapy and other psychological concepts. This has shaped my desire to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Anxiety And Learning Anxiety Adolescents today are forced to face the intensified stressors of life in our high pressured society and the cognitive, physiological, and emotional changes that take place throughout this stage of development. As a result, the rates of many psychopathologies increase significantly among adolescents ages 10 16. Extensive research that shows that anxiety levels and disrupted social skills can be particularly high among adolescents with learning disabilities (LD). However, the origin of anxiety as it relates to LD has yet to be determined, making it hard to treat. On the one hand, there exists the deficit in study skills model in which anxiety is a result of low self assurance and feeling unprepared due to deficient knowledge. On the other ... Thus, the authors hypothesized that if mindfulness meditation can encourage attentional factors and self esteem and, thus, reduce anxiety, it may also concurrently enhance social skills and academic performance. They also hypothesized that mindfulness meditation (MM) would positively influence all three of these outcome variables by mitigating cognitive interference. The participant sample was composed of thirty two adolescent volunteers (aged 13 17) recruited from four classes in a private high school for children with LD. For five days a week, the participants were led in mindfulness meditation (not identified with MBSR) for five to ten minutes at the beginning of each class period by two classroom teachers. The researchers used a pre post no control design composed of three tests: the Social Skills Rating System (SSRS), The State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Attitudinal questions. All three surveys were completed by both the students and their two teachers. On post ‐ intervention surveys, students self reported both decreased state (short term) and trait (long term) anxiety (STAI test). Moreover, the teachers reported improvements of students social skills and academic performance (SRRS and attitudinal questions surveys). The variables above showed significant improvements in the post test (all p values .05). Although not directly assessed, these results suggest that mindfulness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Film Analysis Of Nanook Of The North Nanook of the North: Directed by Robert Flaherty, Nanook of the North (1922) is one of the most famous travel films, or scenics, of all time. Flaherty spent years in Canada learning the culture of the Inuit (eskimo) people there. What makes this story so captivating is that it is presented as more of a drama than a documentary. Flaherty staged many scenes to portray Nanook as a protagonist, and the harsh snowy environment as the antagonist. The way the footage was edited together helped make the film interesting, since many of the sequences by themselves are boring. After being turned down by many distribution companies, Flaherty eventually was able to get his film in theaters, where it became a huge success, even so much as to become a staple of pop culture of the time. Over time, the film has come to represent the eternal struggle between man and nature. Agitki : At the dawn of the USSR, Vladimir Lenin proclaimed: Of all the arts, for us the cinema is the most important. Lenin believed this because cinema was the easiest way to spread propaganda at the time. Much of the people living in the Russian countryside were impoverished and illiterate. By sending out propaganda films, called agitki, Lenin found the perfect method of educating the rural masses on the new state of their government. This type of propaganda was meant to agitate and enthuse audiences. They were typically very short, but also effective in spreading news to the uneducated rural masses. In addition ... • 16. Using Utilitarian Ethicals to Determine Right From Wrong... Introduction In 1975 the board of directors for a company that makes transistors were presented with an ethical dilemma. They were the last transistor company that was selling to a pacemaker company as a result of other companies backing out of the business due to the failure of some pacemakers leading to deaths of some of those who used them. At the time, pacemaker technology was extremely new and had yet to develop into the ground breaking product that it is today. The ethical dilemma presented to the board was whether or not to continue to sell their transistor to the company and risk the negative connotation and ultimately the loss of shareholders in the company, associated with the deaths that occurred (Shanks, 1996). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second issue to be analyzed counters that possible result. If the transistor company were to continue in business then there lies the opportunity to save countless lives that could benefit greatly due to the technology. Yes, the company is putting itself at risk, but for the result of saving people who really need pacemakers. It is known that pacemakers have failed before, but it can be assumed that the aforementioned pacemakers did not have this company s transistor in it or else they most likely would ve already left the contract. That being said, there is the possibility that the other transistors that were being used were just poorly made (Shanks, 1996). As a result of this, the main Utilitarian issue being presented is does the company end the contract and not take the unnecessary risk associated, or do they continue the contract and potentially save countless lives? Bentham s Advice to the Company Jeremy Bentham defined Utilitarian ethics as we are to promote pleasure and act to reduce pain. (Driver, 2009). Bentham defined these ethics by taking into account an array of parameters that included intensity, certainty, proximity, fecundity, purity and the amount of people affected by a given decision (Driver, 2009). Analyzing these parameters, it is clear to say Bentham would give the advice of staying with the contract. By staying with the contract, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pros And Cons Of A Child With Special Needs Prisoners with Special Needs A child with special needs tend to inspire us to be more patient and grateful while a prisoner with special needs makes us wonder where the parents and inmate went wrong. The United States Corrections system is home to thousands of prisoners. The purpose of this paper is to explain how special needs, mentally ill, and substance abusing prisoners affect the jail and prison systems at both state and federal levels. The effects of neglect towards these prisoners will be explained and possible consequences associated with the acts. Lastly, the pros and cons of prison programs for special needs inmates will be thoroughly explained. Effects on the Jails and Prisons There are several different types of offenders in prison. Among the prison population are mentally ill prisoners, special needs offenders, and substance abusing offenders. These special offenders affect the jail and prison systems at state and federal levels because they require more intensive or specialized services to be successfully reintegrated into society. If they do not receive special attention, they can harm themselves or others, or become sick from substance related illnesses. Mentally ill offenders must have access to psychiatric health, mental health therapies, psychotropic medications, and types of special offenders need to be separated from the rest of the prison population to prevent them from hurting other inmates. This is evident when Bechdel writes, It was in that tremulous state that I determined to tell my parents. Keeping it from them had started to seem ludicrous anyway (76). Here, Bechdel decides to come out to her parents, deciding that it was absurd not to tell them. • 19. William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream Essay Generally, the relationship between the sun and the moon is a metaphorical construct of the male and female gender. However, in William Shakespeare s, A Midsummer Night s Dream, the author develops the traditional representation of a gendered sun and moon further, in order to symbolize the two celestial bodies, now, as masculine and feminine oppositions. More specifically, Shakespeare expands on the traditional idea of the sun and moon as a gender concept by identifying both as a union, and the relationships that solidify these bonds, in which he delineates the opposition of romance to the opposition of the sun and moon; in its destructive and regenerative aspect, the moon accompanies the resolution of the conflicts, that is, the infidelity between lovers, and shed its light over a return to individual and social order. As a result, the function of moon imagery shift according to the lunar cycle (old and new phases), which subsequently, creates the play s themes of dreamscape, female bodily change and chastity, and most importantly, the romance and infidelities experienced in a relationship. Psychologically, A Midsummer Night s Dream, starts in the light of day, symbolizing consciousness, and descends into the depths of the unconscious, moonless night. Similarly, Shakespeare s use of moon imagery assumes a new, or invisible, phase laying the foundation for the texts theme of dreamscape; consequently, the dreamscape theme and the imagery of the moon are reduced to ... In return, Blues chord progressions such as the twelve bar blues are utilized by Jazz musicians during the improvisational sections of their music pieces. To remark on some of the different features of both the styles of music, the main difference between Blues and Jazz is the fact that Blues is characterized by the slow, melancholic tempo and lyrics, and the utilization of guitar and piano. Whereas Jazz music relies on the basic chord structure and breaks off into heavy improvisational sections being tied back in with the same basic tune. It is true that the advent of Blues music came well before Jazz, however, the great influence that Jazz has in the Blues music heard today is astonishing. It is evident that hosting the Olympics games is no walk in the park. The countries trusted with this task have to spend billions to make the games a reality. Some people believe that the countries, even after spending billions of dollars benefit from the games, while others believe that the money can be spent elsewhere more efficiently. Without purpose, everything is lost. If people have a sense of purpose in their life, they can easily fulfill their satisfactions. Satisfying their wants would make them happy. However, being happy is not all about satisfying people s wants. It is also about being contented with what they have. The growth of happiness is directly proportional to acceptance and inversely to expectations (Fox, 2007). One counter argument, even stated in Hand to Mouth, is that people have children for love and comfort. Many people who live in poverty are alone and on their own. By having children, they will have someone in their life who will finally love them unconditionally. Tirado states Why does anyone have a second child, or a third? Because their family feels unfinished (Tirado 105). Having a child may give someone a reason to try harder to make more money in order to provide for a better life. Another argument is poverty does not always necessarily mean neglect. A child will still be cared for and loved to the best of the parents ability regardless of income. No matter how much money one makes this does not take away from their ability to parent. Lastly, everyone has the biological instinct to have children to continue their lineage. Evolution is the driving forces behind the desire to have children. If people stopped having children, not only will their lineage die out, but it reduces the amount of genetic variation. • 28. Essay On Populism There are, of course, other definitions of populism that are worth at least exploring. One particularly popular book has been What is Populism by Princeton professor Jan Werner Müller. His definition asserts that Populism is a moralistic imagination of politics that is anti pluralist and claims exclusive representation of the people. (Müller 2016, Pg. 20) Ironically, he uses Wallace s Segregation forever comment to support this claim. We actually argue that this moment was the attaching of populism to nativist ideology in order to build a winning coalition (as is attested by Wallace himself), not an actual expression of populism itself (Rowan 1991). We reject his definition on several grounds. The first is the premise that populists must necessarily be anti pluralist. There is no ground in which this must be the case. In fact, populist voting populations must be pluralistic in and of themselves, because as he makes clear, there is no such thing as a homogenous people in existence. Additionally, right wing populism surely differentiates between the elites themselves and those they view as below them. (See diadic [left wing] vs. triadic [right wing] populism.) Analysis Of A P Choice and Class are the two major themes in Updike s A P, displayed through the main character, Sammy, and several background characters, including the three girls the story is based around. These two ideals are explored through the point of view of the main character, the depth in which the characters are described(both physically and in their own life) and how the characters are framed in relation to one another. Part of what helped Updike frame the themes was the in depth description of the characters. Every character, even secondary, or characters who seemingly had nothing to do with the plot, were described in great detail. Not only were their physical aspects detailed, but even how the characters moved in the story, or how they interacted with each other. For example, Sammy s description of the three girls, when he says, The sheep pushing their carts down the aisle the girls were walking against the usual traffic (not that we have one way signs or anything) (Updike 463). That description of how the girls moved in the store is one of the first inklings of individuality. They were moving against the grain of the people in the store, but also they are moving against the grain of society and social norms. They also do not think about the time and hard work that is put into the sport. Dance requires strength, endurance, and coordination. • 38. The Case Of Missouri Vs. Seibert In the Case of Missouri v. Seibert, a mother named Patrice Seibert was convicted of second degree murder. Patrice Seibert had a son named Jonathan who was twelve years old and had cerebral palsy. Jonathan Seibert suddenly died in his sleep, and his mother thought that she would be held responsible for his sudden death. Ms. Seibert then devised a plan with her two older sons and their friends. She wanted to cover up the death of Jonathan, so she conspired with her sons and their friends to cover up the death by burning down their mobile home. Donald Rector was a mentally ill individual who stayed with the Seibert s and later died as the home went up in flames. Several days later, Seibert was taken into the police station and questioned about the mysterious mobile home fire. While being interrogated, the officer waved Ms. Seibert s Miranda rights. She was questioned for thirty to forty minutes before she was given a break. While being questioned, the officer hoped that Ms. Seibert would voluntarily confess to the crimes that had taken place. After her break, she was then questioned a second time. This time, the officer turned on a recorder and then read Ms. Seibert her Miranda Warnings, and the officer also obtained a signed waiver of rights from Seibert. The issues the court must decide are whether withholding Miranda Warnings to obtain a confession is considered admissible in court. In the case of Missouri v. Seibert, Ms. Seibert was questioned before her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven Insanity, the unsoundness of the mind, and madness are topics that are difficult to understand. However, Edgar Allen Poe s poem, The Raven presents the concept of insanity in an enchanting way. In this paper, I am going to argue that Poe s use of the image of the raven represents the narrators budding madness and could possibly be viewed as a symbol for his subconscious mind in the poem. Poe seems to structure the raven in this way through his abstract language, form, tone, symbolism and imagery. Although The Raven is rich in symbolism, the plot is actually quite simple. In the poem, the unnamed speaker is reading and nearly napping in his home alone on a bleak December night when he hears a tapping at his door. He is in a deep sorrow over the loss of Lenore who is assumed to be the speaker s deceased wife/lover. He discovers that it is a raven that was tapping at his door and he begins to speak to the bird who responds only with the phrase nevermore . As the poem ends, the speaker seems to have been driven into a fit of insanity because of his conversations with the raven. Like many of Poe s poems the setting of The Raven is dark and gloomy. In the first stanza, we learn that it is late at night, Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, (1). Moreover, the speaker suggests that the night was a bleak December , further cementing the dismal tone of the poem. It seems significant that Poe chose the poem to take place at midnight and in ... • 41. Relationships In The Odyssey Love is tough business, the two involved in one relationship is expected to put equal effort into that relationship. Some people might not do so well and others may have great relationships, but then we come across ones that can stay together even through the toughest times. Sometimes the other person in the relationship leaves for a while, either for work, emergencies, and sometimes they serve in the military. Sometimes, they ll be gone for a few days, weeks, months or years. A lot could change for both involved in that bond of love; moreover, the character of the people could also change. Just an example that comes to mind and my favorite scene in the Odyssey, when Odysseus comes home from battling at Troy and the long hard suffering voyage back to Ithaca. This is a prime example of bond between two people being tested to it s limit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First he leaves to go fight at Troy. After that, He goes on this long painful expedition back home to Ithaca. This would be one of many times that Odysseus would lose his men. After more time on the sea, he comes across the island of hulking cyclops. They wound up in a cave and were caught by the owner of that cave, Polyphemus. Trapped, Odysseus and his crew were stuck in that cave for many days. • 42. Catalase Optimum Temperature Catalase possesses a range of optimal temperatures depending on what organism those cells belong to. Human catalase has an optimum temperature of around 45 degrees Celsius, whereas plants have a slightly lower optimal temperature for catalase at around 37 40 degrees Celsius. Catalase works optimally at a neutral pH between 6.8 7.5, allowing it to operate in nearly all types of cells. Catalase is generally found in the peroxisomes of a cell, but can also be found elsewhere in small quantities. Although catalase is found in all cells, it can be in varying concentrations depending on where that cell is in the body; the liver possesses higher levels of catalase compared to the rest of the body as it uses the enzyme not only to break down hydrogen ... • 43. Zachary Miller Case Study Despite Zach Miller becoming a favorite target for Cutler last season, Chicago has a lot of answered questions remaining at the tight end position. As this week s minicamp practices come to an end, the bears have added Tony Moeaki to their 90 man roster. Moeaki was simply using the minicamp as an effort to try out and be noticed by someone on the Bears coaching staff. With the bears wanting to add strength to the position, giving Moeaki the last spot on the 90 man roster appeared to be a wise decision. After being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft, Chicago will be the 5th team that Moeaki has been a part of. His most productive season to this point in his career has been his rookie season when he accumulated 556 yards on 47 receptions. He also was able to find the end zone on three occasions throughout his rookie season. Because of his history of injuries, Tony has not been given much of a chance by reporters to make the Bears final 53 man roster. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he has never been known for his abilities as a run blocker, he may be the most talented out of the young tight ends the bears have to choose from. His experience on special teams could provide him with an opportunity to see some extra playing time, if Moeaki is able to make the team. Being from the Chicagoland area, Tony played his college years at the University of Iowa, where he made the First Team All Big Ten in 2009. He attended high school at Wheaton Warrenville South high school in nearby Wheaton, Illinois. Moeaki has a total of 91 receptions which have led to over 1,200 yards. He has scored 6 touchdowns.
