Animal Rights At Factory Farms
Madison Bowdish
Dr. Brian Onishi
PHIL 229
15 Dec 2016
Animal Rights in Factory Farms The idea that industrial farming is bad for the environment is
well known, but what people do not think about is horrible practice of factory farms within
industrial farming. Factory farms are inhumane and not only because the animal is being
slaughtered, but because of the way the animals are treated before the are killed. A person would
think that if they were to be innocently killed that they would want to be treated with respect and
dignity before they die. In this paper, I will argue that animals have rights through a utilitarian view
and that they should not be treated in an inhumane way. The framework I plan to discuss is Peter
Singer s utilitarian view on animal rights. A general idea of what utilitarianismis can be described
as the need for the many outweigh the needs of a few, or majority rule when it comes to
happiness. Singer s criteria for how a being gets rights is based on the ability to feel pleasure or
pain. With this criteria it allows people who are mentally handicapped, the senile, and babies to
have rights (Hozien). Most would agree that it would be cruel to not give these people rights, so
Singer argues that since animals can feel pain and pleasure they also have rights. Although he
believes that they should be treated equal he does admit that there is a range or difference of pain.
He equates this to racism or in this case speciesism. For instance he states that

The Consumer Right Act ( Cra )
Introduction
In 2015, the Consumer Right Act (CRA) has been passed by the Parliament to provide further
protection and guidelines for consumers. One of the aims of the Act is to provide remedies for
consumers when they receive faulty goods or the goods that no longer meet their needs. Under
section 20(4), it entitles the consumer to reject the goods and treat the contract as at and end. Also,
under section 20(7) (a), it entitles the consumers to exercise the short term rights to reject the
goods while section 22(3) outlines the standard period for exercising the rights is 30 days as
suggested by the Law Commission. However, there is criticism that standard period of 30 days is
inflexible. Therefore, the following paragraphs will analyse whether the 30 days is a suitable time
limit for the rejection and whether the standard period that set by the law is flexible or not.
30 Days An Acceptable Standard or Not
As mentioned above, the standard period of 30 days was adopted by the suggestion of the Law
Commission in the report.
Under the current law, there are difficulties for both retailers and consumers to interpret for
reasonable time to reject the goods as there is no clarification or explanation on the relevant factors
of reasonable time . Accordingly, the Law Commission stated that the standard period of 30 days
would be simpler than the current law. The Confederation of British Industry which agreed that by
stating,
We consider that it would be helpful for the

Personal Reflection Of Technical Writing

Re:
Personal reflection of Technical Writing memo While thinking back over the past weeks and
reviewing my assignments, activities and instructor feedback, I am confident I have gained
knowledge that will be beneficial to me in both my continued education as well as my professional
career. Enrolling in this class I was unclear as to what to expect, but within the first weekly
assignment I could understand the benefits it would bring to my current endeavors. As the class
progressed, I found myself both grateful and devastated for the learning opportunities. As learning
opportunities always provide opportunities to improve, please allow me to expand on each.
Perhaps my biggest take from this course was the need to research my documents to prevent
unintended plagiarism. I was raised to not lie, steal or cheat as the most important values one can
possess. With these values in place, other principles will fall into place. Plagiarism, in my definition,
is the combination of all three values in one. Gurak and Lannon list four key principals to avoid
unintentional plagiarism including identify sources, taking accurate notes, understanding how to
include the information, and how to document the use of sources (Gurak Lannon, 2016, p. 406). In
completing my assignments I fully considered my work meeting the requirements and avoiding any
inference of plagiarism. With that said, I was wrong. First up in my

The Importance Of Underage Drinking
There are those milestone ages that everyone is anxious to reach. We can t wait to be 13 because
we re finally considered teenagers. We can t wait to turn 16 so we can finally slide behind the
steering wheel and drive on our own for the first time, a big step on the way to adulthood and
independence. We can t wait to turn 18 because we re finally considered adults, can vote, and
even enlist in the military in order to serve our country if we choose. Finally, and most importantly
it seems, we can t wait to turn 21 so that we can legally drink alcohol. In fact, it seems that some
teens are so anxious about that last step to adulthood that some don t even wait until the legal
drinking ageto consume alcohol. This has resulted in underage drinking

Narrative Of The Captivity And Restoration Of Mrs. Mary...
RELIGIOUS ASPECT OF PURITANISM In Mrs. Mary Rowlandson s Narrative of the Captivity
and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, religious aspects of puritanism are evident in a number
of instances throughout the narrative. Puritanism in this case refers to the strong beliefs that are
evident in the narration pertaining to religion. The narrator, Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, has strong
religious beliefs. A good example of a religious aspect of puritanism is Mrs. Mary Rowlandson s
belief in the power of Godto protect. She argues out that in every single happening, God is
concerned and He is the one who shields his people from any form of evil or danger. In the third
remove, she says that the Lord would gather his people and protect them from their

The Protest Of The Francisco 49ers Quarterback Colin...
When you think of protests what do you think of? Most of the protests that people see on
television are a group of people marching in the streets. These protests can either be peaceful or
harmful. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a different approach. His protest
was not in the streets, it was on the football field. He kneels during the national anthem before
games. Everyone has their own thoughts on his protest, some agree, some do not agree with his
protest. Colin Kaepernick s form of protest is a very ineffective way of protest while disrespecting
the people that represent and angering many. On August 14th, 2016 was the first time San
Francisco 49ersquarterback Colin Kaepernick decided to sit down for the... Show more content on

Also, not standing for the national anthem is a legal form of peaceful protest, which is a First
Amendment right. And even though President Obama disagreed with Kaepernick s actions he
did say that Colin was exercising his constitutional right to make a statement. I think there s a
long history of sports figures doing so (ProCon.org) Refusing to stand for the national anthem is
disrespecting the flag and every member of the armed forces. Celebrities and others have all
chimed in and gave their opinion on Colin s protest. One person to chime in and has a lot
patriotism in her family history is Carole Ishlam, she is one of the great great great
granddaughters of Francis Scott Key, the writer of the national anthem. It just blows my mind that
somebody like Kaepernick would do what he does to dishonor the flag of this country and the
national anthem Ishlam said in an interview. She continued, we have young men and women
overseas fighting for this country, people that have died for this country (ProCon.org) Even
supporters of Kaepernick s message disagree with his actions. One of these supporters is New
Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who said, It s an oxymoron that you re sitting down,
disrespecting that flag that has given you the freedom to speak out (ProCon.org) Not only did
celebrities talk about it, people who are fighting in the war and are representing the flag have put

`` Bohemian Rhapsody `` By Freddie Mercury
Anyone who has ever experienced emotional anguish, that has had the potential to ruin their life,
may find peace by the end of Bohemian Rhapsody. This song was written by an artist who felt a
great deal of pain. He expresses his emotions throughout the song, and at the end realizes that all the
pain he was dealt shouldn t matter to him. Bohemian Rhapsodywas written by Freddie Mercuryand
performed by a British rock band named Queenin 1975. It is a six minute suite divided into multiple
sections without a refrain. There is an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock
part, and a reflective coda. Bohemian Rhapsody consist of many emotional tones and imagery that

He continues by apologizing to her saying, Didn t mean to make you cry./ If I m not back again

her that he killed off the heterosexual man he once was and apologizes to his mother about his
sexuality. If he is still homosexual in later times, he tells his mother to continue on with life as if
he was never gay. The depressing tone and choice of lyrics helped me connect with these stanzas
in a more literal sense. Whenever I listen to or read the lyrics, the imagery I see is me killing a
man for the first time in combat. I see a twenty year old version of me becoming an alcoholic to
drown out the pain and misery. And lastly, I see my mother crying because she feels as if she
failed me; when in reality it was me who was failing. I tried to explain to my mother that PTSD
doesn t affect me and that she should just continue viewing me as I was before the Marine
Corps. The operatic passage of this song made me feel excitement and anxiety due to the singers
singing in a frantic tone. I didn t feel those feelings in the lyrics without the accompany of the
music. By focusing specifically on the lyrics and analyzing them word by word, I was able to feel
the excitement and anxiety of my first firefight. Lines 28 through 31 really went hand in hand with

Beauty Is An Integral Part Of Human Nature
The concept of beauty is an integral part of human nature. For centuries men and women have
designated a part of each day dedicating their time to their physical appearance. In many cultures
beauty is made a priority of life. This is reflective of the expectations the media places on men
and women to have a certain look. What most do not realize is beauty is not just defined by the
aesthetic pleasure of faces, hair, bodies, and clothes, it is driven by many other factors. The
concept of beauty does not have to be tied down to the strict definition of what is visually
attractive, and should rather focus on many different aspects of the person as a whole to create a
definition of their beauty. There are many factors that contribute to what makes something or in the
case of this research, someone beautiful . The explanation for the perceptionof beauty in one s self
and in others is due in part to a biological, a psychological, and a cultural basis working hand in
hand to create what humans believe to be beauty. Perception of beauty is manipulated greatly by the
biological evolutionary influences on human nature. All of this stems from the deeply rooted
evolutionary need to reproduce. In particular, facial beauty of a femaleor a maleis important because
the one weapon men and women have to fulfill the ultimate goal of preserving their genes in
another generation is attraction. One must be perceived as beautiful first before any sexual
attraction can occur (Wilson, 2013).

Women’s New Role Essay
Women s New Role
In coming to understand what it meant to be a girl I was affected by my era, women s sports,
and the place that I was raised, as much as the independent feminist spirit that my mom was
exposed to and possessed. My mother s mom raised her to believe and accept the traditional
female role. My grandmother put emphasis on the women staying home and existing solely as a
support system for the man. She found comfort and security knowing that it was the man s burden
to bring home the bacon. My mother, however; was influenced by the time and took it upon
herself to take care of herself and make her own money. At a young ageshe along with many other
women of her time wanted to rebel against the expected role and thus have ... Show more content on

With these independent values and the new women role models I had in sports, I learned to be
confident in the choices that I made and that I could make something with my life with my athletic
endeavors.
Growing up I was the first generation of girls to have women role models in sports. For the first
time I could watch a person of the same sex compete and succeed. In 1986 I was able to watch
the US Women s Soccer National Team take home the first gold metal in the sport of soccer. I
watched these women that had a dream to play and they made their respective dreams come true.
In Mia Hamm s book she talked about how the game of soccer to her was ultimate release and
passion for her. Her father allowed her to play with the boys and thought that this competitive
spirit that his daughter possessed was harmless and healthy (Mia 45). Little did he know that his
daughter would start a revolution that no man saw coming. These tom boys who thought that they
were the only girls playing sports opened up a whole new field of work, and broke through one of
the toughest gender stereotypes known to woman. Success in women s soccer, and even the
development of the professional league, along with new opportunities that arose with title 9,in
which colleges were forced to produce an equal number of scholarships for women have contributed
to my committed efforts to succeed and play at the highest level. Although, today I can see the result

Building Block Toward My Career Development
Since the age of seven, I started to help my parents with basic chores around the house. For
example, I helped my mom clean around the house, take out the trash, dish wash, and fold the
laundry. During this period, my parents paid me in form of allowance and started a college trust
fund to pay for college fees later in life. In addition, I applied for a job during high school to
work for Vons. This was my first job and the start of the basic building block toward my career
development. Furthermore, I began to get more involved in high school and volunteered for my
school charity outreach programs. For instance, the Los Angeles Food Bank came every Friday
and passed out food to underprivileged families who lived in project homes. Also, I volunteered in
an organization called, Saved the Earth which cleaned the streets, beaches and spread awareness
about preserving the national environment. In addition, I volunteered at St. Jude research hospital
and read books to cancer children and assisted the nurses with giving out pamphlets to the families
of the patient. Lastly, I had a valuable opportunity to observe the nurses, physical therapists and
occupational therapists and participate in hands on experiences. Therefore, all of these
experiences led me to develop the necessary skills to pursue my future job. For example, my
parents taught me valuable lessons of responsibility from doing chores to be responsible for
completing assignments, which is important skill to have in life.

Employment Of A Vital Labor And Employment Law
A vital labor and employment law is the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, also known as the
ADEA. The law was enacted in 1967 and later amended. On the Unites States EEOC website, they
write, ADEA protects individuals who are 40 years of age or older from employment discrimination
based on age. (The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2008) The law is meant to
safeguard workers from being discriminated against due to their age. The law is especially
important now with workers staying on the job longer and retirees returning to the workforce after
retirement. The EEOC states, The law applies to employers with 20 or more employees, including
state and local governments. It also applies to employment agencies and labor organizations, as well
as to the federal government. (The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2008) Age
discriminationcan come in many forms in the business world. First, employment advertisements
brings the attention of work seeking people. An employer can use certain words in their
employment advertisements that can keep older workers from applying to the job, as an example:
young, recent college graduate, youthful, and etc. An employer using these words can open them to
discrimination lawsuits. Similarly, in an article from the Seattle Times which list five of the biggest
legal missteps Human Resources can make, they write, The hiring process: Mistakes in this area
often start right at the beginning, with discriminatory

Three Different Types Of Conflicts In Short Stories
Types of Conflicts in Short Stories
Short story writing literature is a very important art and has been around for long time. Every
short story will consist of five different elements. These are as follows: Setting, Plot, Character,
Point of View and Theme. In this essay, we are going to discuss three of these stories and try to
look at them from different perspectives. We will be considering the elements of the stories and
how the writers expressed that. We are going to discuss the different phases and changes that each
character in these three different stories from the beginning until the end with some highlight on
the events and conflicts that lead to these changes. We will start with A Letter from Gaza by
Ghassan Kanafani, then After Twenty Years by O. Henry and last will be The Scarlet Ibis by J.
Hurst. I will give a summarizing overall conclusion at the end of this essay.

Freud, Freud And The Components Of Personality
5.2Components of Personality According to Freud, the personality structure/psyche/mind of a
person, after modifying the topographical model acts and interacts with three parts namely id,
ego and super ego. This modified model was referred as the structural model of human mind. Let
us see each part in detail. 5.2.1Id The word id is a latin word meaning it . It is the unorganized
part of the personality structure of a person that comprises of impulsive, basic, instinctual drives
of a human being. It is the child like portion of the mind. Of all the three components, id is the
only component that is present from birth. Hence it represents bodily needs, wants, desires and
impulses that do not care about the demands/expectations of reality and without any accordance
to what is right or wrong. According to Freud, id is the unconscious part of the human mind
seeking pleasure. Id acts according to Pleasure principle. Pleasure principle is defined as the
psychic force that demands immediate gratification of any desire or impulse without showing a
single sign of willingness to compromise. The process of thinking that the id undergoes is called

Feed, A Futuristic Novel
Feed, a futuristic novel by M.T. Anderson, left me feeling disturbed about the faults in perfection.
In a society completely ruled by technology, most of the country has a chip implanted in their
brain since birth that acts as a phone, computer, television, and more, which known as the feed.
The feed allows people to chat using just their connected brains, watch television programs, play
games, order goods, and research any topic. From the start, I recognized that this was a scary
concept, because it meant that website owners and product producers had access to one s
thoughts, preferences, and personality. What made this book so eerie was that I could experience
what it would be like to have a constant voice in my head, directing me to... Show more content on

Because of the feed, with everyone having access to whatever they please already in their brain,
everyone is smart, and no one has to work for it. There is mass danger in this concept. If
everyone is smart, no one is smart, because no one knows more than anyone else, and no one
stands out. It s like if you were to highlight everything in an article. If you did that, nothing would
be important anymore. This is what the feed does. It is run by companies who search everyone s
brains, and create products that will appeal to everyone. In order to do that, the companies need to
make a very simple product everyone can enjoy, slowly deteriorating difference, and slowly
making everyone simpler people. In light of what the novel stresses: that making things too easy for
humans will ruin the meaning for their existence, the author creates a character essential to get this
point across. Violet, Titus girlfriend, was different from Titus and his friends. She grew up with less
money than them, and with parents against the feed from the start. However, she eventually got the
feed, only to run into problems when a hacker damages it permanently. Violet, unlike Titus,
understands that companies running the feed were slowly abusing their power to create products
they know will have mass appeal. Violet resists this, trying to create a personality profile that
cannot fit in with the norms of the feed. Later, when Violet s feed, which has latched on

it makes it easier for me to end a chapter in my life, and transition into a new one. At my

Essay About Summer Camp
Summer Camp
It was summer of 2013 and it was my first time traveling alone. I was going to ChampГ©ry,

When I arrived at ChampГ©ry by train, I had to walk to the camp which not that far Just a 10

As I reached the camp, the manager was there greeting the new arrivals and the place we were
staying at was this big 4 floor wooden house. The staff there were so friendly and welcoming.
Everyone there was from different parts of the world. In the first day, they gave us a chance to

Lysander s Masculinity In The Disappointment
The 17th century provides a treasure trove of literary greatness. The authors cultivated such a tight
circle so that everyone s work kept in dialogue. Aphra Behn uses her poem, The Disappointment, as
an opportunity to respond to common tropes found in male authored writing. In lines 111 140, Behn
dismantles Lysander s masculinity in The Disappointment through comparisons to figures from
Greek mythology, thus creating situational irony around his character s ego. In stripping Lysander
of all his awful fires (ll. 113) in this selection, Behn reveals Lysander s true feelings of impotence
and, by extension, women.
Behn immediately ties Lysander to a warrior, a traditionally masculine figure, with his name.
Lysander refers to the Spartan admiral in Greek mythology. Lysander s name undermines his
masculinity because the fierce and aggressive reputation of the Spartan culture does not align
with Lysander s sexual performance. Behn uses this identification to make him seem like he is
an ideal romantic partner, but she describes him as [the] god of her desires,/ Disarmed of all his
awful fires/ And cold as flowers bathed in the morning dew. (ll. 112 114) Behn refers to Lysander
as a god and foreshadows the connections to other Greek figures later on in the selection. The fires
Behn mentions represent Lysander s sexual passion. He is disarmed of them and bathes in the
morning dew, which is a euphemism for his premature ejaculation. He is fiery, passionate
beforehand, and ashamed of himself after. Impotence is a negative quality and does not fit the
typical image of masculinity. Behn uses his impotence and Cloris s beauty to make allusions to
mythological figures to provide further insight into their characters.
After he proves to be impotent, Cloris runs away. Behn explains, Like lightning through the grove
she hies,/ Or Daphne from the Delphic god. (ll. 121 122) Behn hyperbolizes Cloris s speed by
comparing it to lightning emphasizes the chimerical tone in these final stanzas. The Delphic god,
Apollo, aggressively pursued a nymph, Daphne, in Greek mythology. Apollo is the god of many
things, but one of them being plagues. The nymph is a mythological spirit of nature imagined as a
beautiful maiden.

Symbols In Tuesdays With Morrie
One of the themes discussed in Tuesdays with Morrie that was most meaningful to me was their
focus on not feeling sorry for yourself. In the beginning chapters Mitch ask Morrie if he feels sorry
for himself on second Tuesday they talked about feeling sorry for themselves. Morrie tells Mitch
that in the mornings he does a little, but then after he has a little pity party he stops. Mitch and the
other students begin to learn that the professor wanted to teach them the meaning of deathMorrie s

My Birthday Is Important To Me
Sixteen
Birthdays have always been a thing of great importance to me. Whether it s me or any of my
close friends and or family, I always have thought that birthdays and the aspect of remembering
someone elses are the most important thing someone can do for a person. No matter the age
whether 6, 10, or 85, doing it big and celebrating for someone is a particular way of showing
someone how much they mean to you whether it is shown by a simple card or with a big party. In
addition to my birthday being very important to me, I go out of my way to make sure that my
friends and family feel equally special when there time comes. Nevertheless, my birthdays in
particular have always been amazing thanks to the effort and love shown by everyone; but this one
in particular, the celebration in which I turned sixteen will always be one to remember.
The ORIGINAL plan was to to go to a restaurant to eat before going to see any movie that was
was out at that time with a bunch of friends. Mind you, me and my friends are not the most
organized bunch of people so even doing this simple of a task was going to take some work. The
week before, I had loosely let them know what was going to happen and had asked a few of them to
look at movie theaters which would be able to seat all of us at about 8pm as well as a restaurant
which would be able to accommodate all of us with good food, and of which would also be able to
get us out of there quick enough to watch the movie. Naturally, we came

The Worldview And Its Impact On My Worldview
Over the years my worldview has evolved from as a by product of cultural influence, to one
steeped in my belief of God. However, until I got married 4 years ago, I had never actively
worked on developing my Christian theistic worldview. Brown, Phillips and Stonestreet (2008)
described a persons worldview as the framework that guides our beliefs and viewpoints (p. 21).
With this in mind, I have established 3 main tenants of my worldview, Godis, the universe was and
morality will be. These are the foundations for the way I live, move and express my being in this
world.
My worldview is informed by way of epistemology. Epistemology suggest the source of all
knowledge is God. Knowledge can be acquired through reading and studying the bible. ... Show

He is holy, unchanging, all powerful, all knowing, and present everywhere.
As stated by Groothuis (2011) But Christianity, on the contrary, depicted God as a rational,
responsive, dependable, and omnipotent being and the universe as his personal creation, thus
having a rational, lawful, stable structure, awaiting human comprehension ( p. 102). All that is
in the universe, except for God Himself, is God s creation. Therefore, my Christian worldview
begins with the existence of a God who is the personal and creator of everything we survey.
Knowing that God is the cause for creation, brings perspective to my life. It establishes the place
of a great being that took time, out of time and space to create the world in which I exist. A world
meticulously designed to work as one connected string. How can a world be fine tuned with
irreducible complexity, without a designer?
My theistic worldview defines God as the uncaused creator, concerned with all of creation. His
concerns include bringing man back into relationship with Himself by way of His Son Jesus
Christ. Christ is part of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is
the anointed son of God, purposed to restore humanity from its deviation of God character and
nature. Jesus was born of a virgin birth; His Christendom was from the womb and His anointing
allowed him to demonstrate power over nature. Through Him, the ultimate result of pain and

Starch, Dextran, And Cellulose
Starch, dextran, and cellulose are all made up of glucose but differ in the arrangement the glucose
molecules. Starch is made of large polysaccharide chains that are arranged in a semi crystalline
form. The glucose in dextran is composed in a linear pattern, the chains are very straight. Lastly in
cellulose, glucoseis packed tightly together in a parallel formation.
Glycogen is a branched polymer consisting of multiple side chains. The glucose is linked together
using a (1 4) glyosidic bonds. The branches of the polysaccharide is linked via a (1 6) glyosidic

can remove the a (1 4) glyosidic bonds.

Professional Hockey Players
In the world of professional sports, teams value youth, searching for the next super star. Whether it
is inking the highly coveted free agent, or rebuilding through drafts, General Managers have put a
premium on young athletes, hoping that these youngsters will become the face of the franchise.
Age and experience has seem to taken a back seat for teams. While it is important to develop
young prospects, veteran leadership is often hard to find during games, in the locker room, and
particularly during the playoffs. There are four current players in the National Hockey League who
are still excelling well into their 40 s, contributing on a nightly basis. They are Martin Brodeur,
Teemu Selanne, Jaromir Jagr, and Daniel Alfredsson.
Daniel Alfredsoon, the longtime captain of the Ottawa Senators, now plays for the Detroit Red
Wings. Alfredsson is 41 years old and is currently second on the team this season in goals, having
lit the lamp 17 times. With injuries to stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Alfredsson has
been able to step up and provide the scoring that Detroit desperately sought when its two stars
went down with injuries. He also has 26 assists on the season and is helping the Red Wings make
a late season push for the playoffs.
Alfredsson participated in his 5th Olympic games this February as a member of Sweden s team.

The Conflict Perspective On Class Struggles
The family is a social institution present in all human societies. A family unit is a group of people
sharing a relationship based on biology, marriage, or adoption. The conflict perspective refers to the
inequalities that exist in all societies. The conflict perspective originated from out of Karl Max s
writings on class struggles. This perspective presents society in a different light than do the
functionalist and symbolic interactionist perspectives. This perspective focuses on the negative,
conflicted, and ever changing nature of society. Conflict theorists challenge the status quo, unlike
functionalists who defend it, encourage social change, and believe that the rich and powerful force
social order on the poor and the weak. When looking at the conflict perspective in reference to
family, the family works toward the continuance of social inequality, whether on purpose or
unknowingly. Wealthy families are able to keep their privilege social position for the members of
that family, whereas poorer families are denied this status. This perspective is also more beneficial
for men than women. It allows men to maintain their power position. Inequality between the sexes
is a result of this family being patriarchal. Gender roles are significant. The roles of the men in the
family are much more important than the roles of the women even if the women are more hard
working than their male counterparts.

(5) Student in College Pressed for Time A person can have the best memory however, it all comes

make the mistake of devoting a big portion of our time to learning a material and over learn.
To avoid overlearning, students should take breaks after reviewing content. Some educators believe
that method of learning is an effective way to prolong long term retention and is common in
schools. For example, assignments for mathematics courses include similar problems, leading
students to overlearn.

Should We Legalize Prostitution Essay
Should we legalize prostitution in the US?
The laws regarding prostitution, often called the oldest profession in the world , have been
facing changes for many years. They are multiple attitudes regarding prostitution and opinions
on the connotation this word should have but the idea people have of sex worker is usually
negative. On a legal matter sex work has been discussed many time and laws regarding this act
varies around the world. Some countries found this act immoral and think that it should not be
accepted on some ethical and legal concepts while other countries accepts it not only on a legal
manner but also as a way of making a living for those who decided for themselves that this is what
they want to do. A lot of questions regarding the decision we should make about the legal aspect of
this work are in relation to the impact it can have on the society and on the workers itself. Four
different views approach this subject; the criminalization of the act, the abolition of the act, the
decriminalization of the act or the legalization of it. (p.44 why is prostitution criminalized?)
Criminalization is the one presently established in the US. It means that all parties involved in the
act are open to criminal punishment. The abolitionist approach is not to punish the sex worker but
punishing only third parties. Decriminalization means that the act is not longer subject to legal
consequences and their work is consider an independent business. For the legalization the

Differences Of The North And South During The 1800s
During the 1800s, life in America was very different depending on where, on the map, people were
located, the North or the South. The North and the South were different in three ways,
economically, politically, and, lastly, socially. Even through their differences, there were also a few
simularites. To begin, the Northand South were different economically mainly because one, the
North, was an Industrial economy, and the other, the South, was an Agricultural economy. Meaning,
in the North, they mainly made their money through northern factories and inventions. Middle class

While the Dodge Hellcat is more of a square bodied car the Shelby GT 500 has more curvature.
These different styles have unique factors, but one is better designed and uses the body to help
the car in performance. The Shelby GT 500 is designed with a wide body that makes the car
more stable than its earlier classic models. The rear of the car is squarer than the front, but
curves on the edges giving it a rounded look and a good stance. As you move towards the front,
it contours to the ground giving the car more downforce as it accelerates. This also helps give the
car more traction to the road. The new body style captures some of the older features of the
mustang, but brings something new to the mustang era. Meanwhile the Dodge Hellcat does not
bring many new features as far as aesthetics, it keeps mainly to the older body style. The Hellcats
body style is square from the front to the back. The front end maintains level positioning with the
rear giving the car less traction with the road, but a much taller stance than the Shelby GT 500.
With this being said the Shelby has come far in its time bringing uniqueness and better performance
with the body while the Dodge Hellcat has

Essay Emperor Charles V
Emperor Charles V (CHARLES I, King of SPAIN). Born at Ghent, 1500; died at Yuste, in Spain,
1558; was a descendant of the house of Hapsburg, and to this descent owed his sovereignty over
so many lands that it was said of him that the sun never set on his dominions. Charles was the son
of Philip, Duke of Burgundy, by Joanna, daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella, and Burgundy was the
first heritage to which he at his led, on his fathers death in 1506. As he was a minor at that time, his
aunt, Margaret of Austria, undertook the regency for him. William of ChiГЁvres, his father s chief
counsellor, had charge of the prince s household; Adrian of Utrecht, the Humanist and professor of
theology at Louvain, who undertook his education,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not till the autumn of 1517 that he effected this purpose, and the Spanish opposition had
mean while been silenced. But the power left in the hands of ChiГЁvres, and the Burgundians
provoked the uprising in Castile known as the War of the Communidad. It was a movement of
the cities. In Castile the discontentment of the ruling classes was joined to that of the
handicraftsmen and labourers, in Valencia the movement was exclusively one of mechanics and
the proletariat. The rebellion failed because the commercial cities of Southern Castile took no
part in it, and because Charles, acting upon his own judgment, placed Spaniards, instead of
foreigners, in positions of authority. In 1520 Charles left Spain to take possession of the
German Empire to which he had been elected. The French king, Francis I, had been his rival for
the dignity; Leo X thought that his interests in Italy were endangered by Charles election. The
Kingdom of Navarre was already a matter of contention between France and Spain, while France
and the Netherlands wrangled over the original Dukedom of Burgundy as well as Tournai,
Flanders, Artois, and some lesser territories. War had not broken out over these questions, and
nothing indicated that Charles would be a warlike prince; but he had broken the alliance with
France made under ChiГЁvres. The Holy See opposed the election of Charles even more
vigorously than France. As King of Aragon, Charles was heir to the Kingdom of Naples, a papal
fief; the

The glass pipe is commonly used to smoke crystal methamphetamine. I contacted CDC Parole
Officer David Rincon at 916 324 2891 and advised him of the incident. Officer Rincon advised

  • 2. Animal Rights At Factory Farms Madison Bowdish Dr. Brian Onishi PHIL 229 15 Dec 2016 Animal Rights in Factory Farms The idea that industrial farming is bad for the environment is well known, but what people do not think about is horrible practice of factory farms within industrial farming. Factory farms are inhumane and not only because the animal is being slaughtered, but because of the way the animals are treated before the are killed. A person would think that if they were to be innocently killed that they would want to be treated with respect and dignity before they die. In this paper, I will argue that animals have rights through a utilitarian view and that they should not be treated in an inhumane way. The framework I plan to discuss is Peter Singer s utilitarian view on animal rights. A general idea of what utilitarianismis can be described as the need for the many outweigh the needs of a few, or majority rule when it comes to happiness. Singer s criteria for how a being gets rights is based on the ability to feel pleasure or pain. With this criteria it allows people who are mentally handicapped, the senile, and babies to have rights (Hozien). Most would agree that it would be cruel to not give these people rights, so Singer argues that since animals can feel pain and pleasure they also have rights. One of the aims of the Act is to provide remedies for consumers when they receive faulty goods or the goods that no longer meet their needs. Under section 20(4), it entitles the consumer to reject the goods and treat the contract as at and end. Also, under section 20(7) (a), it entitles the consumers to exercise the short term rights to reject the goods while section 22(3) outlines the standard period for exercising the rights is 30 days as suggested by the Law Commission. However, there is criticism that standard period of 30 days is inflexible. Therefore, the following paragraphs will analyse whether the 30 days is a suitable time limit for the rejection and whether the standard period that set by the law is flexible or not. 30 Days An Acceptable Standard or Not As mentioned above, the standard period of 30 days was adopted by the suggestion of the Law Commission in the report. Under the current law, there are difficulties for both retailers and consumers to interpret for reasonable time to reject the goods as there is no clarification or explanation on the relevant factors of reasonable time . Accordingly, the Law Commission stated that the standard period of 30 days would be simpler than the current law. Personal Reflection Of Technical Writing To: Dr. Dianne Pearman From: Whitney Wallace Date: August 3, 2017 Re: Personal reflection of Technical Writing memo While thinking back over the past weeks and reviewing my assignments, activities and instructor feedback, I am confident I have gained knowledge that will be beneficial to me in both my continued education as well as my professional career. Enrolling in this class I was unclear as to what to expect, but within the first weekly assignment I could understand the benefits it would bring to my current endeavors. As the class progressed, I found myself both grateful and devastated for the learning opportunities. As learning opportunities always provide opportunities to improve, please allow me to expand on each. Perhaps my biggest take from this course was the need to research my documents to prevent unintended plagiarism. I was raised to not lie, steal or cheat as the most important values one can possess. With these values in place, other principles will fall into place. Plagiarism, in my definition, is the combination of all three values in one. Gurak and Lannon list four key principals to avoid unintentional plagiarism including identify sources, taking accurate notes, understanding how to include the information, and how to document the use of sources (Gurak Lannon, 2016, p. 406). In completing my assignments I fully considered my work meeting the requirements and avoiding any inference of plagiarism. With that said, I was wrong. First up in my ... • 9. Beauty Is An Integral Part Of Human Nature The concept of beauty is an integral part of human nature. For centuries men and women have designated a part of each day dedicating their time to their physical appearance. In many cultures beauty is made a priority of life. This is reflective of the expectations the media places on men and women to have a certain look. What most do not realize is beauty is not just defined by the aesthetic pleasure of faces, hair, bodies, and clothes, it is driven by many other factors. The concept of beauty does not have to be tied down to the strict definition of what is visually attractive, and should rather focus on many different aspects of the person as a whole to create a definition of their beauty. There are many factors that contribute to what makes something or in the case of this research, someone beautiful . The explanation for the perceptionof beauty in one s self and in others is due in part to a biological, a psychological, and a cultural basis working hand in hand to create what humans believe to be beauty. Perception of beauty is manipulated greatly by the biological evolutionary influences on human nature. All of this stems from the deeply rooted evolutionary need to reproduce. In particular, facial beauty of a femaleor a maleis important because the one weapon men and women have to fulfill the ultimate goal of preserving their genes in another generation is attraction. One must be perceived as beautiful first before any sexual attraction can occur (Wilson, 2013). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Lysander s Masculinity In The Disappointment The 17th century provides a treasure trove of literary greatness. The authors cultivated such a tight circle so that everyone s work kept in dialogue. Aphra Behn uses her poem, The Disappointment, as an opportunity to respond to common tropes found in male authored writing. In lines 111 140, Behn dismantles Lysander s masculinity in The Disappointment through comparisons to figures from Greek mythology, thus creating situational irony around his character s ego. In stripping Lysander of all his awful fires (ll. 113) in this selection, Behn reveals Lysander s true feelings of impotence and, by extension, women. Behn immediately ties Lysander to a warrior, a traditionally masculine figure, with his name. Lysander refers to the Spartan admiral in Greek mythology. Lysander s name undermines his masculinity because the fierce and aggressive reputation of the Spartan culture does not align with Lysander s sexual performance. Behn uses this identification to make him seem like he is an ideal romantic partner, but she describes him as [the] god of her desires,/ Disarmed of all his awful fires/ And cold as flowers bathed in the morning dew. (ll. 112 114) Behn refers to Lysander as a god and foreshadows the connections to other Greek figures later on in the selection. The fires Behn mentions represent Lysander s sexual passion. He is disarmed of them and bathes in the morning dew, which is a euphemism for his premature ejaculation. He is fiery, passionate beforehand, and ashamed of himself after. Impotence is a negative quality and does not fit the typical image of masculinity. Behn uses his impotence and Cloris s beauty to make allusions to mythological figures to provide further insight into their characters. After he proves to be impotent, Cloris runs away. Behn explains, Like lightning through the grove she hies,/ Or Daphne from the Delphic god. (ll. 121 122) Behn hyperbolizes Cloris s speed by comparing it to lightning emphasizes the chimerical tone in these final stanzas. In the beginning chapters Mitch ask Morrie if he feels sorry for himself on second Tuesday they talked about feeling sorry for themselves. Whether it s me or any of my close friends and or family, I always have thought that birthdays and the aspect of remembering someone elses are the most important thing someone can do for a person. No matter the age whether 6, 10, or 85, doing it big and celebrating for someone is a particular way of showing someone how much they mean to you whether it is shown by a simple card or with a big party. In addition to my birthday being very important to me, I go out of my way to make sure that my friends and family feel equally special when there time comes. Nevertheless, my birthdays in particular have always been amazing thanks to the effort and love shown by everyone; but this one in particular, the celebration in which I turned sixteen will always be one to remember. The ORIGINAL plan was to to go to a restaurant to eat before going to see any movie that was was out at that time with a bunch of friends. Mind you, me and my friends are not the most organized bunch of people so even doing this simple of a task was going to take some work. The week before, I had loosely let them know what was going to happen and had asked a few of them to look at movie theaters which would be able to seat all of us at about 8pm as well as a restaurant which would be able to accommodate all of us with good food, and of which would also be able to get us out of there quick enough to watch the movie. However, until I got married 4 years ago, I had never actively worked on developing my Christian theistic worldview. Brown, Phillips and Stonestreet (2008) described a persons worldview as the framework that guides our beliefs and viewpoints (p. 21). With this in mind, I have established 3 main tenants of my worldview, Godis, the universe was and morality will be. These are the foundations for the way I live, move and express my being in this world. My worldview is informed by way of epistemology. Epistemology suggest the source of all knowledge is God. As stated by Groothuis (2011) But Christianity, on the contrary, depicted God as a rational, responsive, dependable, and omnipotent being and the universe as his personal creation, thus having a rational, lawful, stable structure, awaiting human comprehension ( p. 102). All that is in the universe, except for God Himself, is God s creation. Therefore, my Christian worldview begins with the existence of a God who is the personal and creator of everything we survey. Knowing that God is the cause for creation, brings perspective to my life. It establishes the place of a great being that took time, out of time and space to create the world in which I exist. A world meticulously designed to work as one connected string. How can a world be fine tuned with irreducible complexity, without a designer? My theistic worldview defines God as the uncaused creator, concerned with all of creation. His concerns include bringing man back into relationship with Himself by way of His Son Jesus Christ. Christ is part of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is the anointed son of God, purposed to restore humanity from its deviation of God character and nature. • 36. The Conflict Perspective On Class Struggles The family is a social institution present in all human societies. A family unit is a group of people sharing a relationship based on biology, marriage, or adoption. The conflict perspective refers to the inequalities that exist in all societies. The conflict perspective originated from out of Karl Max s writings on class struggles. This perspective presents society in a different light than do the functionalist and symbolic interactionist perspectives. This perspective focuses on the negative, conflicted, and ever changing nature of society. Conflict theorists challenge the status quo, unlike functionalists who defend it, encourage social change, and believe that the rich and powerful force social order on the poor and the weak. When looking at the conflict perspective in reference to family, the family works toward the continuance of social inequality, whether on purpose or unknowingly. Wealthy families are able to keep their privilege social position for the members of that family, whereas poorer families are denied this status. This perspective is also more beneficial for men than women. It allows men to maintain their power position. Inequality between the sexes is a result of this family being patriarchal. Gender roles are significant. The roles of the men in the family are much more important than the roles of the women even if the women are more hard working than their male counterparts.
