Humane s Inhumane Treatment To Animal Welfare
Humane Treatment to Animal Welfare
Humane treatment and animal welfare of factory farms and slaughterhouse animals are a huge
problem in our society. The rearing of farm animals today is dominated by industrialized facilities
known as confined animal feeding operations. Most farms in the United States treat their animals
unfairly in order to make products easier to sell and faster to make more money faster. Weaning the
animals off of their food at a young age and starting them on a strict diet including mostly fatty foods,
which will help the animal gain weight is common. Another common inhumane treatment in the
animal welfare industry is keeping the animals in confinement. In most cases the animals stay in
confinement their whole life. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cow calf phase is where the farmer manages the cow during breeding. The cows are then weaned
off of their food. The second is the stocker phase, where the weaned calves are managed for 3 8
months, during this time they will gain an additional 200 400 pounds of weight. The final phase is
called the feedlot or finishing phase, where the calves are usually kept in very high numbers and fed
forage and grain to end up weighing 1,000 1,500 pounds before being slaughtered.
Another animal that is treated unfairly and packed with hormones is birds such as hens, chickens, and
turkeys. Inhumane Practices on Factory Farms says, Four or more egg laying hens are packed into a
battery cage, a wire enclosure so small that none can spread her wings (Inhumane). The hens begin to
peck at each others bodies and become irritated. Pregnant sows spend each of their pregnancies
confined in a metal enclosure that is scarcely too small for the sow (Inhumane). Unable to turn around,
the sows develop abnormal behaviors and tend to have leg

How Does Rap Music Affect Society
American Rappers have been perceived as artists who cannot do any good to society, because of their
lyrics or the music videos that they make, but that is only one small group of individual rappers.
Generalizing has never been a good thing, and that is exactly what these people do all the time putting
all rappers in the same category. How can some people be so ignorant and not recognize the excellent
music that has saved people from themselves? Out there right now there are a lot of rappers that are
always making beautiful music and this type of rap music has been made since Hip Hop s beginnings.
Making people believe that rap music is the worst thing that has ever happened just makes the society
unknowledgeable and doesn t allow that the good rap music that has already inspired a lot of people to
overcome their adversities reach and help even more people. Rap music has always been categorized
like the music that makes youth act recklessly, and for that reason rappers are often seen as just as bad
influence and nothing else. Writer graduated of Stanford Becky Blanchard points out that Rap, like
other forms of music, cannot be understood unless it is studied without the frame of its historical and

Rap music is the most powerful tool that those communities have to express to the rest of the country
how difficult for them is to succeed. Lakeyta Bonnette says that they are left with outlets such as rap
to express their angst, anger, and disappointment at being left behind (Bonnette, 238). Black
communities often are forgotten by the government and if it wasn t for the rap music, those
communities would have been unnoticed by the whole country too. Not to mention, rappers besides
being the voice for the black communities, they also donate money to those black communities to
make it better and safer for the

Adversity Book Report
Adversity Article 5 Theme When one is faced with adversity, trust is limited. Adversity is something
that most go though. In the book Article 5 by Kristen Simmons, Ember faces adversities from the war
that tore apart the country. Background info on book. When one is faced with adversity, trust is
limited. Ember is forced into a situation in which she had nobody that she can put her trust into. When
her mother is being taken into custody, and she sees chase, her ex, she asked him for help to make
things better, to explain, but he shook me off as though some disgusting thing touched him. (Simmons
23). Adversity, all will face it at some point in their life. As did Ember Miller in the book Article 5. In

Embers trust is pushed in the event of her mother s arrest. While attempting to protect her mother,
Ember is faced with the harsh reality that nobody will remain as they were when faced with an
adversity. When she encounters Chase, the man she loved, during the arrest and she asks for an
explanation and for his help. He denies her plea and it states, He shook me off as though some
disgusting thing touched him (Simmons 23). She has to face the fact that the man she loved has
changed into a person she no longer recognizes. When he shook her off, she realized that she was on
her own and was not able to put her trust in him as she had been able to do in the past. Embers
adversity evolves in the story from being in a war torn country, to being sent to a reformation camp, to
attempting to get to the safe house, to being captured to be put on trial. She has to go through all of
this with only herself and then later on, Chase a man she is fearful to get close to once again. This can
be seen when she says To tell him we d both be okay. I didn t though because I didn t trust myself

Themes In The Allegory Of The Cave
The Allegory of the Cave is a philosophical writing presented by a Greek philosopher named Plato.
The story lead us to explore about the truth of nature and how people perceive the truth. Plato likens
us and the world around us to the prisoners in the cave. By using symbols of characters, set and
actions, he tries to disclose his allegorical meaning. As story goes on, Pluto reveals his belief on
existence of absolute truth and develops themes of truth and reality .
To begin with, why did Plato used prisoners in chains as characters? Pluto similitude us as the
prisoners who are imprisoned in the cave. The dark cave appears as a virtual prison where we
incarcerate ourselves. We, the prisoners are locked up with chains, which prevent us ... Show more

However, is truth only one in an universe? Who defines what is true and what is false? There is
billions of people on the Earth who have different thoughts and perspectives. I believe truth is
something that can alter depending on different situations and perspectives. The truth can be changed
through series of discovery like the freed prisoner came out to a new reality. As experience varies
among each individual, things that a person come across becomes his or her knowledge, which will
then form truth in personal level. When this truth becomes as a whole, that can become a truth that
everyone believe as a truth. There s a possibility that absolute truth can change too. Though, what
Plato is telling us is that people should aspire for knowing greater truths and they should go above and
beyond traditional ways of thinking we usually

I have sat under this same pastor this entire time. He knows me, and he knew my beginnings. He also
needed to know if my wanting to become a deacon was of God or was it to please my dad. After about
two months of questions, fasting and much prayer from both him and me, the office was offered to
me. It isn t something I take lightly. This blessing, and it is a blessing, was given to me to honor God,
support my pastor and this church body, help those in need; and also, so that I may be a witness for
Jesus and His saving grace to all those that I may come in contact with in my lifetime (Burris 2014).
Qualities of a Deacon:
Deacons must be reverent, 2. Not given to much wine, 3. Not greedy for money, 4. Must not be double

Imperial Japanese Army Responsible For Ww2 Essay
The Imperial Japanese army was responsible for their own downfall in WWII, as they were too
egotistical, putting pride before logical and effective decisions, started making fatal mistakes and
planning failures, and made game changing decisions that ultimately caused great defeat for the
Imperial Japanese army. The Imperial Japanese army was responsible for their own downfall in WWII
as they made fatal decisions. First, the Japanese army neglected to routinely change their codes.
American code breakers quickly broke the Japanese code and were able to anticipate almost all
Japanese moves, resulting in many victories for the Allies, such as the Battle of Midway and the
assassination of Admiral Isoruku Tammamoto, and consequently great defeat for Japan. Elliot Carlson,
a journalist and historian states in an NPR interview, That victory was possible, in large part, because

Evolution Of Neon Signs
Neon signs, you can find them just about anywhere such as bars, bowling alleys, and restaurants. You
mainly see them in store windows saying open. But open signs are just the beginning. You can find
them in a variety of vibrant colors and complex shapes.
The atoms of the 18 noble gases including neon and argon, etc, will almost never form stable
molecules by chemically bonding with other atoms. It s simple to build a gas discharge tube such as a
neon light which reveals that inertness is a relative matter. To create a neon sign, you need to provide a
high enough electric voltage to electrodes at the ends of a glass tube containing the noble gas. The
light then begins to glow. For most neon signs, it takes at least 3000 volts.Argon

Persuasive Poems
Kayla Trahan Mrs. Kristy Hebert English IV 1st 26 January 2017 Persuasive Poems Some may
dispute that the Cavalier poems To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell was more persuasive than
the poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick. The authors were writing to
sometimes different women that they wanted to woo over in order so they can sleep with them. I
believe that the poem To the Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell was more persuasive than the poem To
the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick. The Cavalier poem I found to be more
persuasive was To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell. Marvell wrote, Had we but world enough,

Herrick states, Then be not coy, but use your time,/ And, while ye may, go marry;/ For, having lost but

waste their youth. He told the women that he talked about to not waste away and enjoy your youth
while you have it. But, still, Herrick was overall more demanding than Marvell s. Even though both of
the Cavalier poems were about having sex, Marvell s poem was more of a romance poem than Herrick
s poem. Marvell wrote, Thy beauty shall no more be found, / Nor , in thy marble vault, shall sound/
My echoing says (Marvell, ln. 25 27). Marvell was saying that beauty will no longer be there one day.
Herrick said, For having lost but once your prime,/ You may forever tarry (Herrick, ln. 15 16). Herrick

Keep It Simple Stupid Research Paper
KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID An article by Amy Rees Anderson in Forbes magazine dated February 27,
2014 reminded me that those who can make things or life simple from a complicated ones are the real
genius. Being simple one s connotate being stupid but not anymore. If you have the ability to make
life as simple despite the complexities surrounding you, then you are smarter than the others who
maintain a complicated life. For instance, if one can explain something too technical to somebody who
is not of the same profession as you are, in a manner that the other person can easily understand takes
a skill and an intelligence and creativity to be able to empathize with the others and see from his point
of view what he needs to understand. Our life is getting more complicated as the world becomes more

might still use it in the future. But getting away with clutter whether in the office or in the house will

simpler. Keep it simple stupid which acronym is KISS is a design principle first coined by aircraft
engineer Kelly Johnson Foster for his team of design engineers who are creators of planes such as the
spy planes. The principle refers to a fact that most systems work best if they are kept simple rather
than made complicated. This life is not meant to be complicated but it is man who is making it such.
Whether at work or at home one should make a determined effort to make it as simple as possible.

The Pros And Cons Of Fake News
Fake news is a problem that has affected everyone, especially politics, you ve might of encounter them
before but they re hard to indicate them. Fake news are false articles or stories that are passed down as
true. These fake news are categorized into three different spots. The categories are Satirical news,
clickbait, and Partisan bias articles. Satirical news or satire is a type of parody presented in a format
typical of mainstream journalism. According to merriam webster clickbait is something (such as a
headline) designed to make readers want to click on a hyperlink especially when the link leads to
content of dubious value or interest . Partisan bias articles are articles made by an adherent or
supporter of a person, group, and party that shows favors of or shows being against one thing. Even
though there many articles out there, Indicating whether they re real is hard but not impossible.
First of all many have thoughts and wonder why are fake articles harmful ? They re so harmful in fact
that big internet programs like Google and Facebook are attempting to remove them from their sites.
Fake articles are harmful because they spread false information about a topic. The information spread
by a false article can cripple or ruin someone s reputation. For example the new york times made a
article about Eric Tucker. Eric tucker a man in Austin, Texas, with only about 40 Twitter followers,
fueled a nationwide conspiracy theory about demonstrations against Mr. Trump.

Genetics ( Nature ) And The Environment ( Nurture ) Essay
1. Which one, genetics (nature) or the environment (nurture), do you think plays a larger role in the
development of who you are? Please provide me with what percentage you think each contributes,
e.g., 50% genetics/50% environment. I believe I am 60% environment and 40% genetics.
2. Think about whether or not everyone s synapses develop the same because of genetics (nature) or
the environment (nurture). Please explain the role that genetics (nature) and the environment (nurture)
play in the development of the six (6) major components of the synapse. Do this by listing and
providing a brief summary of the six (6) major components. Then, describe how genetics (nature) and
the environment (nurture) might affect the development of the six (6) major components as a whole.
The main components of the synapses are as follows: The Axon terminal, found at the end of the
Axon, passes neurotransmitters to other neurons via synaptic transmission. Synaptic Vesicles contain
neurotransmitters within the Axon. Neurotransmitters themselves are chemical messengers that travel
through the neurons and activate receptors on the receiving cell. The neurotransmitters are diffused
through the synaptic cleft a region between the two neurons and gap the neurotransmitter needs to
cross to make it to the receiving cell. Said receiving cell is what receives the neurotransmitters and
starts the process over again. The receptors on the cell are structures that receive the neurotransmitters

Blood Count Literature Review
REVIEW ON IMAGE PROCESSING USED IN HAEMOTOLOGY
Abstract In medical analysis blood cell count plays vital role. Variations in the count of blood cells
cause many diseases in the human body. For overall health assessment and diagnosis of many
disorders complete blood count is required. Abnormal increase or decrease in cell count indicates that
person has indispensable medical condition. The Complete Blood Count (CBC) is a blood test,
extensively used to check various disorders such as infections, allergies, problems with clotting,
anaemia, leukaemia etc. In order to perform CBC test, the blood film is stained and then imaged with
a transmission light microscope. Here the analysis of the blood sample is done manually in order to
count number of blood cells and also to identify disorders in blood samples through a microscope. But
it is a time consuming process and also leads to undesirable human error. In essence, the goal of this
review paper is to find out and validate the necessary image processing steps and different methods
and algorithms used to count blood cells on blood smear slides. This paper aims to provide: mitigate
problems posed by different conditions such as noisy and degraded images; detect the overlapping
cells; to differentiate RBCs ,WBCs and also platelets which are present in a blood smear slide
counting RBCs and WBCs and even platelets and also to detect the disease related to blood.

The Pros And Cons Of Saddam Hussein
The two most effective options are containment and invasion, as they utilize military force to remove
Saddam Hussein from power. Invasion is a viable solution because Hussein is a dangerous threat and
needs to be removed from power immediately. Saddam Hussein has repeatedly proven to be
uncooperative and deceptive in dealing with the United Nations weapons inspections. Also, defeating
the dictatorship in Iraq will send a message to other countries, just by mobilizing their troops that this
behavior will not be tolerated by the United States, and that we are willing to invade, regardless of
support from other powers (Mack). The regime in Iraq is a threat to the Iraqi people, the citizens of the
United States, and all of the surrounding countries. Saddam has been threatened and warned, but still
avoids weapons regulations. A historian explained, We re not going to tackle Saddam Hussein, we re
going to leave this (Inaudible) dictator in power. It s pretty obvious how it would look. It would look
that the West was scared of Saddam Hussein, it would appear that Saddam Hussein had faced down
the great powers of the world, (Alternative to War). The Iraqi citizens are being oppressed by Hussein,
and they will welcome the United States troopers, as they yearn for a new government. Some Arabs

The Willows In Central Park Essay
The willows in Central Park could take care of their own problems today. Indeed, it was the first day
in a long time since Annalize Parkington had wondered why they wept. Because in truth, she was
running late, and running late to work was not something to be tolerated. Not that it was her fault by
any means. Her watch had been smashed last week when persons unnamed had called her urgently to
come to their aid in a back alley of Brooklyn, without ample time to prepare herself for physical
exertion. And then she had forgotten to set her alarm well, that was her fault, to be honest. Leaping
over a mound of snow, Annalize looked back regretfully at the willows, half guilty that she had denied
them attention today. Then she shook her head, clearing it from romantic fancies and continuing down
the sidewalk with a brisk pace. She maneuvered past a group of schoolchildren, and rushed past a

Central Park, coming out of its winter wonderland magic into the cracked pavement and terrible
traffic. Crossing the same street she had crossed thousands of times before, walking down the length
of sidewalk she had walked thousands of times before, opening the large doors of the building with
the sign that said Rosemund Detective Agency. She had entered this building thousands of times
before, and spent thousands of hours in it. Another day in the life. The wood paneled lobby was quiet

Heat Shock Protein 90
Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is a 90 kilo Dalton, ubiquitously expressed molecular chaperone that is
required for plays a critical role in various biological processes including cellular survival, regulation
of cell cycle, steroid and other signaling pathways. Although Hsp90 was initially discovered as a
protein whose expression increases upon heat stress, it is one of the most abundant chaperone in the
cytoplasm of the eukaryotic cells encompassing 1 2% of the total cellular protein under normal
physiological conditions. The most common homologs of Hsp90 present in the cytoplasm of
mammalian cells are the inducible Hsp90α and the constitutively active Hsp90β. Additionally; Hsp90
homologs Trap1 and Grp94 are present in mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum. Hsp90 protein
exists as a homo dimer with each promoter having the following functional domain architecture. They
are, (1) the N terminal ATP binding domain (NTD) that binds to co chaperones such as cdc37 and p23
as well as drugs such as galadanamycin, (2) the middle domain (MD) with a catalytic loop needed for
the binding of clients and co chaperones such as Aha1 and (3) the C terminal dimerization domain

Witches and spells from Shakespeare s novels may seem far fetched in today s society, but in ancient
times, those matters were very serious; use of magic was a criminal offence and could even be

Max Weber And The Transactional Leadership
The transactional leadership was firstly talked and elaborated in 1947 by Max Weber and described
more in 1981 by Bernard M. Bass. It is a style of leadership that leaders provides their subordinates
with rewards or punishments. It can be called management theories. This style mainly encourages and
directs subordinates or followers by providing incentives. The power of this leadership derives from
the control, rules and regulation of companies. Particularly, managers use the transactional style.

Passive management: The transactional leader can only intervene if tasks do not meet the criteria or do
not meet expectations. He/she may provide a punishment to the one who performances incorrectly.
Laissez faire: the transactional leaders give a lot of chances followers for decisions making. So,
leaders themselves give up their responsibilities and try to avoid decisions making, then organizations
tend to have unclear direction.
Implications in an organization:
They focus on the short term goals as well as standard regulation and methods. Also, the followers are

organization s issues are normal and clearly explained. When the existing objective is not meet, these
leaders often do not provide benefit or rewards to subordinates.

Leaders strongly instructive, and their communication with the members is often short term, not for

Description Of A Man s Voice
We sat on a cheap wooden bench in the security room in the back of Lord and Taylor, our bags lay on
their sides, the contents spilled across the concrete floor. Little white tags hung from the fabric, a few
seams were noticeably ripped along the side ribbing of the clothing. Computer screens encompassed
the room, the surveillance footage rotated intermittently from Camera 1 to Camera 2 to Dressing
Room Camera. The man s voice was barely audible through the wall behind me, as he called my
parents and the authorities. He came back into the room with the woman who had grabbed my arm as
I exited the department store, announcing that the price for all of the products I had stolen totaled to
approximately $1,300 though he hadn t calculated in the damages of the torn clothing where the
security buttons were ripped out. My best friend, better known as my fellow thief, called her mom to
retrieve us. I used the thick silence of that car ride to prepare something mitigating to say to my
mother. When I delicately, respectfully, quietly entered the foyer, my mom sat waiting, drilling me
with questions. As I entered the foyer, my mom, who had been undoubtedly stewing in her own
thoughts as she awaited my arrival, drilled me with questions. Why would you do this? Because it s
fun. Who made you do this? As if I can t make my own decisions and fuck up my life on my own.
How long has this been going on? I told her once before but in reality it had been going on for a while.

The Authors and Their Works
The Authors Their Works
In the words of E.H. Carr in his classic study of historiography, As discussed the backgrounds of the
authors and their works plays a significant role in the writing of their biographies. Everybody is
subjective; we are all to an extent shaped by what is around us.
The selected works mark turning points in the writing of the life of Cook, and each of them is
considered as an important work within the field of Cook studies. They all display certain
characteristics and carry certain discourses that mark them as also being evocative of their respective
time periods. Cook scholars have often tried to prove or disprove certain facts, striven to edit and
correct details or attempted to replicate and summarize the total available information. All of this is
part of a wider discourse, an exploration of which is helpful in interpreting the backdrop surrounding
Captain James Cook.
It seems only logical to start with the very first biography, although several works penned by Cook s
colleagues dealing with his character had appeared before this, most notably that of Johann Reinhold
Forster, naturalist on board the second voyage, in 1778. This first biographical work, The Life of

Forrest Gump Is The Portrayal Of A Man That Has Been...
Introduction
Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re gonna get. Forrest Gump is the portrayal
of a man that has been alienated from society, not because he is unintelligent or dimwitted, but rather
because he is not restricted by the conventional ideals, which are embedded, within his culture; thus,
Forrest challenges the conformities and principals that most people are accustomed to. The contrast
that Robert Zemeckis, director of the film, is attempting to convey through the character of Forrest
Gump is how most people are too smart for there own good; and thus, try to escape the realities and
actualities of life. While other characters in the story are suppressed by society s conflicts, Forrest
remains blinded to all; hence, he is able to live in the moment, rather than evading what is real. Forrest
s unique selflessness and compelled nature to do what is right, as opposed to what is easy, are what
our society incorrectly labels stupidity or ignorance. Zemeckis is obviously pointing out that an
individual has no control over his or her own destiny and in order to live a noble life, must accept life
as it is.
I think it is very appropriate that Zemeckis begins his movie with the scene in which he does. Starting
with Forrest s worn out and dirty shoes with a camera shot of a feather floating on the breeze
foregrounds the entire movie. It is an obvious symbol for Forrest and the way he just casually makes
his way through the worst of times

The Crisis No. 1 Syntax
AP English per.2
2/23/13
The Crisis No. 1 As we read this passage it is full of different rhetorical strategies and the reason they
were put in there. The writer s style is the way he uses his language and the rhetorical strategies that
he might use to enhance his writing. As I read the passage I came across syntax which is the war he
puts his words to send the reader a message, and ad hominem arguing his point against the person
instead of the argument. The rhetorical used in the reading is used cleverly enough to prove a point.
One of the first rhetorical strategies he uses is syntax and the definition is the way an author chooses
to join words into phrases and sentences. The words he uses for his syntax are ... Show more content

It matters not where you live...the evil or the blessing will reach you. The reason why he uses you
repeatedly and often is to address them or you so you can feel personally committed to the words he is
saying. When he uses you instead of the colonist or people it is much stronger to use you there is a
personal connection with the speaker and the listener. The use of you is to feel personally committed
because in times like this people only worry about themselves and that s the nature of humans. The
nature of humans is always to care for themselves especially in hard situations when you are being
addressed personally you have that sensation that you must help yourself. The person speaking knew
that and addressed them personally as you in order to get his message through the people. It helped get
the message through the people and soon got what he wanted. In conclusion the passage is full of
rhetorical strategies like the ones I have used to describe the feelings of the man trying to send out his
message to the colonist and the syntax used as well as the pathos to show how he feels about the king
and the wrong choices he has been doing he is trying to get the colonist to go against him and things
would improve without his ruling. He used them well to prove a point and send his message; those are
good uses of rhetorical

Anaylsis of the chicken ceremony Essay
Is the Chicken Ceremony a superstition, or is it a supper?
Why are chickens important in the Village Valle del Sole? The Village Valle del Sole is located in one
of the most isolated parts in Italy, so people living there are easily influenced by the lore that is going
around the whole village. For example, throughout the novel, it is shown how important the chicken
symbolises to people He had a fight with his neighbor about a chicken. His neighbor came over with a
shotgun, they started shouting and screaming, and pom! the next thing you know, his hand is gone
(Ricci 20) . From this incident, it can be deduced that even an animal such as a chicken could be
considered precious due to their superstitions during that era. ... Show more content on

Why Vittorio would make up a charm in the middle of the chicken ceremony? Not only that this proof
shows that Vittorio is superstitious, but that he has the imagination of chanting these words to increase
the mood of the ceremony. Last but not least is Vittorio s lucky coin. When the flames from the
chicken starts to grow, he had taken my lucky coin from my pocket now and was rubbing it furiously,
hoping to calm the spirits (Ricci 119). The lucky coin that Vittorio has is a symbol of life since
actually before it saved Luciano s life, so he thought that it would be good to be given Vittorio since
he will take care of it.
On the other hand, when Cristina was found in the barn by Vittorio, she had already chop off the head
of the chicken with blood staining in her hands, this doesn t necessary mean that Cristina is
performing the chicken ceremony since the process requires [...] cut out the heart to put in your soup
later [...] (Ricci 54) and when Vittorio carries out the ceremony secretly by himself, he found out later
that I had forgotten to cut out the chicken s heart (Ricci 120) . This shows evidence that Cristina is not
necessarily performing the chicken ceremony in the barn to turn it into an offering for God, but maybe

Bayesian Learning Essay examples
BAYESIAN LEARNING
Abstract
Uncertainty has presented a difficult obstacle in artificial intelligence. Bayesian learning outlines a
mathematically solid method for dealing with uncertainty based upon Bayes Theorem. The theory
establishes a means for calculating the probability an event will occur in the future given some
evidence based upon prior occurrences of the event and the posterior probability that the evidence will
predict the event. Its use in artificial intelligence has been met with success in a number of research
areas and applications including the development of cognitive models and neural networks. At the
same time, the theory has been criticized for being philosophically unrealistic and logistically
inefficient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They allow intelligent systems flexibility and a logical way to update their database of knowledge.
The appeal of probability theories in AI lies in the way they express the qualitative relationship among
beliefs and can process these relationships to draw conclusions (Pearl, 1988).
One of the most formalized probabilistic theories used in AI relates to Bayes theorem. Bayesian
methods have been used for a variety of AI applications across many disciplines including cognitive
modeling, medical diagnosis, learning causal networks, and finance.
Two years after his death, in 1763, Rev. Thomas Bayes Essay Toward solving a Problem in the
Doctrine of Chances was published. Bayes is regarded as the first to use probability inductively and
established a mathematical basis for probability inference which he outlined in this now famous paper.
The idea behind Bayes method is simple; the probability that an event will occur in future trials can be
calculated from the frequency with which it has occurred in prior trails. Let s consider some everyday
knowledge to outline Bayes rule: where there s smoke, there s fire. We use this everyday cliche to
suggest cause and effect. But how are such relationships learned in and from everyday experience?
Conditional probability provides a way to estimate the likelihood of some outcome given a particular
situation. Bayes theorem further refines this idea by incorporating

Animal Farm is an allegorical book which was written by George Orwell. In this book the author
represents the important characters of the Russian Revolution. There are many characters in this book.
A pig named Snowball is one of them who is based on Leon Trotsky. Leon Trotsky was an early leader
in communism (ANIMAL FARM). He had control of the Soviet Union. He followed Karl Marx

is a good thinker about happiness of the animal s life. He wants to improve the all animals life. That`s
why he follows seven commandments of old Major. His thought about importance of education of
every animal was very helpful for them. He considered education is important for every animal. If
every animal will be educating they will understand what are good for them and what are bad? As he

An Artistic Representation of the Sixties Through Across The Universe
Many historical fiction films that we watch fail to depict history in an accurate way due to the
emphasis on entertainment and revenue instead of keeping the integrity of its historical events.
However, some motion pictures stay true to history while providing entertainment through fictional
stories. Although the stories are fictional, movie writers can craft stories that represent the history,
attitudes, and personalities of a time period in a historically accurate way. A prime example of a movie
that is entertaining and represents history accurately is Across The Universe, directed by Julie Taymor
in 2007. This film succeeds in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

allusion to the song She Came Through The Bathroom Window , and Prudence s character is a direct
reflection of the song Dear Prudence . Characters names are off of song titles like Hey Jude , Lucy In
The Sky With Diamonds , and Maxwels Silver Spoon . These are prime examples how the Beatles
music influenced the portrayal of Taymor s characters, but also how the characters represent real
people. Not only does the music represent the characters, but also Taymor integrates the songs into
real historical events. For example, Jojo travels to New York from Detroit after his little brother was
killed in Detroit s 12th Street Riot. The 12th Street Riot was one of the worst riots in American
history; the governor sent the Michigan National Guard into Detroit, and President Johnson sent the
U.S Army to subdue the riot. The end result was forty three dead, 467 injured, over 7,200 arrests and
more than 2,000 buildings burned down. The scale of the riot eclipsed the 1992 riots in Los Angeles.
Through the portrayal of the riot the black community of the 12th street district sing Let It Be . I must
note that in analyzing music each song has different meanings interpretations to each person. However
after analyzing Let It Be , I have found the phrase let it be is about giving up your personal power to a
higher power, which is what the people in the riots and

Anne Bradstreet And Puritan Writing Style
Faith has played an incredibly large role throughout all of American history. This is shown especially
in early America when the Puritans settled in North America. Writing in this time period shows just
how prominent faith is in this time period, as much of it directly alludes to the Bible. Throughout the
time period writing and beliefs evolved. This is highly noticeable when comparing American poet
Anne Bradstreet, and clergyman Jonathan Edwards. Bradstreet s works include poems such as To My
Dear and Loving Husband , and Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666 and while Edwards
wrote many sermons, the most famous is Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God . These works differ
in many ways, but many comparisons and contrasts can be made in regards to writing style and beliefs
presented in these works.
The first major difference between these two writers is the major difference in their writing styles.
Though both are undoubtedly Puritan in style they hold many differences in how they write, and what
they write about. Anne Bradstreet s writing is seen as rather basic in it s composition and rhyme
scheme. The writing is in stanzas, much like other poetry, and the rhyme is a very basic AA B B
scheme, in To My Dear and Loving Husband she writes, If ever two were one, then surely we./If ever
man loved her wife, then thee; ( lines 1 2) these opening lines illustrate the simplicity in her writing.
Contrast this to the opening lines of Sinners in the Hands of an

Why Is The 13th Amendment Important
History Of The 13th Amendment The 13th amendment has got to be one of the most important
amendments from the reconstruction era. It not only freed slaves from slavery, but it was the
beginning of a whole new world. Though racism and segregation was still an issue, African Americans
were no longer anyone s property.
How it all started On November 16, 1860, Abraham Lincoln became the sixteenth president of the
United States. He was the first president of the Republican Party. Lincoln was never a fan of slavery.
He believed that If slavery were not wrong then nothing were wrong. The big issue he saw since he
was a young lawyer was that the constitution protected slavery. No one really believed in having an
Emancipation. It was actually a huge fear that everyone had. They believed that soldiers would not
fight if there were an Emancipation. It took Lincoln a while to figure out that if there ... Show more

of the 1st Amendment. One very big effect that happened after the 13th amendment was the start of
the Civil War. The passing of the amendment was not the main reason for the start of the Civil War,
but it was a very big start to the fire. There is one fact that i found about the Amendment that was very
interesting to me. One fact was that the Amendment/ Lincoln was able to ban slavery. Something that
the founding fathers were not able to consider when they wrote the document not much then seventy
years before. The Amendment was a new beginning for a lot of people, not only African Americans.
This was the beginning of many other Amendments and the birth of

The Results Based Budgeting of Oakland Unified
Throughout the history of the American public education, lots of problems have emerged but with
some effort from enlightened men and the federal government they were successfully solved.
However, one of those problems that proved to be intractable over the years despite the many
solutions proposed for it was and still is the income achievement gap. Professor Sean R. Reardon, a
Professor of Education and Sociology at Stanford University, showed the inevitable relationship
between parental income and the academic achievement of students. The income achievement gap as

In 1965, it was the first government initiative toward a practical solution in attempting to contain this
uprising income achievement gap as they issued the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
(ESEA). Unsurprisingly, this act gained lots of popularity among education reformers at that time as
its objective was to provide equal education opportunities to all students nationwide whether they are
rich or poor. Nonetheless, the ESEA was just a quick, ready solution to provide funds to schools at that
time but not one that was extensively studied to ensure true equality in distributing those funds. Title I
of the Act, which is still implement in the new version of the ESEA that s now called the No Child
Left Behind Act of 2002, was the most important part which contained the initiative of providing
funds to eligible schools and the way they would be distributed. According to Phyllis McClure, a civil
rights activist who also served in the U.S. Office of Education s Title I Task Force, this Title I in
particular contained a loophole that allowed for poor schools to still not get their equal share of the
funds (McClure). The problem lied in what was called the comparability provision law of Title I
which allowed Title I schools, that uses a traditional budgeting system based on their average teacher
salary, to show a comparable expenditure of their teachers

Black Macho The Myth Of The Superwoman
At the middle of the passage Michele Wallace excerpt Black Macho the Myth of the Superwoman
explained the myth of the Black Superwoman: A woman who has immoderate strength and is stronger
emotionally than most men. The Black Autonomist movement, she said, viewed women as one of the
main reasons the black man had never been properly able to take hold of his situation in this country
and how the black man has not really kept his part of the bargain they made in the sixties during the
fight for equality. African Americans had been thoroughly disadvantaged of their own African culture.
While slavery and segregation were extremely damaging, African Americans were also hurt by
integration and adaptation that denied them the knowledge of their history of struggle and the memory
of their own cultural practices. In the process of adaptation, integration, and lodging, African
Americans took on white cultural attitudes and values in regard to sexuality and gender. As a result,
African American men became sexist and misogynistic and African American women became self
hating. In hating African American women, African American men hated themselves. They had
accepted the dominant culture s negative stereotypes about the African race. Yes, Wallace speaks on
how black men see that women are considered too domineering and need and intensive cleaning up,

Christian Philosophy Versus Christian Worldview
Introduction
Human viewpoint differs and leads to diverse worldviews. Several factors contribute to the creation of
worldviews; the environment, experiences and most importantly the education that a human is
exposed to. The question is often asked if there is such a thing as a right or wrong worldview, since it
can consist of subjective opinions on life, love, family and religious philosophies. These worldviews
create philosophical questions regarding how society truly functions and different human principles.
As educators it is critical that one nurtures the Christian mind in order to fulfill the Christian
worldview. It is also absolutely essential that the education system and learning objectives put forward
are relevant because they make significant contributions to worldview.
This paper aims to discuss Christian philosophy versus Christian worldview and explain how they are
directly related. It will also describe what the author of this paper believes the truth about society is
and their vision for a better society. The paper will also identify the roles of the teacher and leaner and
finally discuss the roles of the society, government, church, and family in the development of
curriculum.
Christian Philosophy and Worldview
Christian philosophy is defined as a way of life. It involves the reason for human life, why human life
was created and sustained by God and nourished by His Spirit, and lastly, to where our human life is
destined to lead us in the future (Maritn,

Untidy Bungalow Quotes
Because her mother is obsessed with a craving for materialistic gratification, Mary, at the beginning of

indifference toward the world. In the second chapter, Burnett narrates, ...they wore shabby clothes and

The verb hated implies that Mary cannot even bear the shabby clothes or untidy bungalow . She is not
able to be satisfied with life without maidservant, luxurious house or elegant clothes, either. Growing

complexity to the analysis: [Burnett] does this by constructing the character and childhood

Indulging in the material comfort and living in her own world, Mary is initially the counter example of
the Romantic child who is expected to have a quality of innocence, to be imaginative and playful, and
also to display an intuitive relationship with nature (Thacker and Webb, 91). To sum up, on the first

The Scythians Summary
The Evidence of the Scythians Much of what is known of the history of the Scythians comes from the
account of them by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, who visited their territory. Herodotus was a

several civilizations he visited. In one of his investigations he found a very interesting group of nomad
tribes, who were called the Scythians. His findings were recorded in Herodotus Fourth Book of The

could be also argued that the horse allowed the communication between people living at great

Egypt, and the Near East, but also with many other tribes that lived in the Eurasia steppe. Although
their interaction with other civilizations is reflected in their art, the Scythians are distinguished from
the others through their so called animal style. This style is the representation of animal motifs
naturally rendered in several poses. It is believed that with this depiction the power inherent in the
animal images was destroyed. Furthermore, the Scythian interaction with the Near East civilizations
has been also recorded. The advance of the Scythians into the Near East was caused primarily for
economic reasons. Since the Scythians experienced a surplus in cattle, they moved to the Near East in
order to trade cattle in exchange of the merchandise they needed, such as iron, copper, and tin.

Ford Pinto
Principles of Responsible Commerce (COMM 101)
Case 2.3 (The Ford Pinto)
Week 4 1. What moral issues does the Pinto case raise?
Moral issues that Ford Pinto case raises included producing dangerous products which are not safe to
use it without informing the dangerous of the products to the public. In addition, lobbying the NHTSA
to delay the safety measure of the products is also one of the moral issues that Ford Pinto case raises.
(53 words)
2. Suppose Ford officials were asked to justify their decision. What moral principles do you think they
would invoke? Assess Ford s handling of the Pinto from the perspective of each of the moral theories
discussed in this chapter.
The theory of egoism is most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is doing so ever morally legitimate?
No. Kant s 2nd categorical imperatives stated that we need to treat humanity always an end and never
as a means. (Shaw, Barry amp; Sansbury, 2009, pg77) According to the case, Ford did not put a human
s life as the first priority; in fact, they placed a monetary value on a human s life. They are using the
human life to determine whether their decision is profitable in the cost benefit analysis which is
against Kantianism. (67 words)
6. What responsibilities to its customers do you think Ford had? What are the most important moral
rights, if any, operating in the Pinto case?
Ford should produce the products that are safe to be used. Besides that, Ford should also be honest to
the customer by providing the truth information to the customer. In this case, the most important moral
rights is every human being has the inherent right to live. Thus, Ford should disclose the dangerous of
their products to the customer. (59 words)
7. Would it have made a moral difference if the savings resulting from not improving the Pinto gas
tank had been passed on to Ford s customer? Could a rational customer have chosen to save a few
dollars and risk having the more dangerous gas tank? What if Ford had told potential customers about
its decision?
No. There would not have made a moral difference since the products are dangerous which might risk
the human s life.

Incendiary Fire Analysis and Investigation
Summary of the Incident
On February 20, 2003, at 23:10 hours, the West Warwick, Rhode Island fire department was
dispatched to a structure fire at 211 Cowesett Avenue (Grosshandler, Bryner, Madrzykowski, Kuntz,
2005). The structure was the location of The Station nightclub, which contained an estimated 458
occupants, which was above the maximum allowed occupancy of 404 which was established by the
City of West Warwick (Grosshandler et al., 2005). The fire resulted in a massive loss of life as 96
people died at the scene, 3 died within days, and one person died 70 days later, bringing the death toll
to 100 persons (Grosshandler et al., 2005). The large crowd was present at the nightclub to witness a
performance of the rock band Great White , who used pyrotechnics during the performance which
directly contributed to the ignition of polyurethane foam panels that were installed in the building by
the club owners to serve as soundproofing. As the fire began to grow occupants began to panic and
immediately headed for the exits. The majority of the occupants attempted to use the front main exit
which was composed of a set of double doors, which led to a corridor, which included a single door
that exited to the outside of the building (Grosshandler et al., 2005). The exit was quickly blocked as
occupants began to stack up at the exit. The fire rapidly spread throughout the occupancy and the
structure quickly become untenable. The investigation includes a complete fire

Essay on Analysis of Rita Dove’s, “Daystar”
C Stevens 07/09/2010 Professor Kierath English 102.212 Analysis of Rita Dove s, Daystar Daystar by
Rita Dove is an expressive poem, which centers on the main character, a young mother and wife, who
internally struggles with her burdensome, daily duties, which creates a lack of freedom in her world.
Dove s choice of words lets the reader empathize with her confined life. In this poem, irony exists for
the mere fact that from birth to adulthood the female population is brought up to feel fulfilled by
simply becoming a wife and mother; however, this poem describes the monotonous duties and the
joyless bond that can be between husband and wife. As the poem opens, Dove begins with a metaphor
that entertains the idea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later that night when Thomas roller over and lurched into her, she would open her eyes and think of
the place that was hers this proves the point that she cannot even express herself sexually because she
does not feel as if she has control in the situation. Her mind wanders elsewhere, in a place where she
is her own master, instead of what is reality. Additionally, the main character s husband shows some
selfish tendencies in the fact that he may not notice his wife s discontentment with his affection.
However, this may also present the lack of communication between man and wife and therefore may
cause a sense of isolation from her husband. The main character possesses the characteristics of most
young women, a full plate of responsibility and the lack of freedom that can wither away a person s
soul. My response to this poem is that I strongly respect the author for bringing up such a
controversial issue such as discontentment with being a stay at home mother, since this is usually to be
expected of women. Dove explains the poem delicately and leaves the underlying sense that she may
have possibly been through the situation herself. This being said, her imagery is wonderfully used and
the metaphor of the doll being slumped over is a brilliant way to reflect upon the main character s
feelings and actions. The irony comes into play, in my opinion,

Sandy Hook Elementary Shootings
In the aftermath of the Sandy Hook elementary shootings, the NRA executive vice president, Wayne
Lapierre, released a statement in a press conference that spoke of how politicians who wanted to make
schools a gun free zone only serve to invite all potential killers that schools are the safest place to
inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk. The only thing to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good
guy with a gun was an important aspect of his speech, which emphasized the need to protect the
children in schools with guns. He made the point that the President is surrounded and protected by
Secret Service agents who are armed. Lapierre wanted to employ the millions of qualified and active

Orc Descriptive Writing
As the result of a blunt force impacting my head, most like due a rock, I slowly regained my
consciousness. My vision was blurry. Hearing some indecipherable speech around me, I try to move
around, only to feel a tight binding of rope on my wrists and ankles. Moving around was not an
option. As my eyesight stabilized and senses regained, I realized that I had been hanging on a wooden
cylinder upside down. As stiff as my body was, I moved my head around, trying to grasp my current
location and situation.
3 foot tall, bulky, grotesque creatures surrounded me. Their facial features resembled that of a pig,
though much more ugly. Fat covered bodies only covered by a dirtied loincloth. Each of them wielded
various weapons, although the most common seemed to be a wooden spear with a metal tip. If my ...

This one was different from the others. Its figures was roughly half the size of the common Orc, but
instead of the amounts of fat that could be seen clearly (too clearly) in the rest, toned and defined
muscles were present. Grey skin was pigmented instead of the usual murky pink. As a sign of its
prestige, it donned leather armor covered by a rugged white cloak along with what seemed to be a
staff. It was clearly the dominant one out of the herd. However, despite that, it still had the same
repulsive face as the rest. I classified this one as a [High Orc].
Holding up its staff, it started a chant with a weird rhythm, and soon after the rest followed soon after.
Two Orcs carried me from my original position and took me towards the altar. After tying me to the
altar with another piece of rope, this time slightly thicker than the ones used for my hands and legs,
they returned to their original position and continued chanting with the rest. From my current
inference, it was safe to say that what was occurring was a ritual, and I was the

The Roman Province Of Dacia
The Roman province of Dacia consisted of most of Romania from approximately 100 to 271 A.D. The
Daco Roman was overran again and again by barbarian conquerors. Many migrants traveled to
Romania. In the 5th and 6th century two major events happened. First in the 5th century, came the
Huns and in the 6th century they were followed by the Avars. The Huns were a nomadic tribe whose
origin is unknown but, most likely, they came from somewhere between the eastern edge of the Altai
Mountains and the Caspian Sea, roughly modern Kazakhstan (Kelly, 45). The Avars were a
confederation of heterogeneous (diverse or varied) people consisting of Rouran, Hephthalites, and
Turkic Oghuric races who migrated to the region of the Pontic Grass Steppe (an area corresponding to
modern day Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan) from Central Asia after the fall of the Asiatic Rouran
Empire in 552 CE. After the Huns and Avars came the Slavs which were designates an ethnic group of
people who share a long term cultural continuity and who speak a set of related languages known as
the Slavic languages. After the Huns, Slavs and Avars came, Romania the slowly settled down and a
feudal order was born. Around the 8 10th century, Eastern Orthodox Christianity was brought amongst
the Romanians by the mastery of the Bulgarian Empire. The Hungarian empire had overruled
Transylvania in or around the 11th century. By the time the 16th century rolled around, the well
known Romanian principalities of Walachia and

  • 2. Humane s Inhumane Treatment To Animal Welfare Humane Treatment to Animal Welfare Humane treatment and animal welfare of factory farms and slaughterhouse animals are a huge problem in our society. The rearing of farm animals today is dominated by industrialized facilities known as confined animal feeding operations. Most farms in the United States treat their animals unfairly in order to make products easier to sell and faster to make more money faster. Weaning the animals off of their food at a young age and starting them on a strict diet including mostly fatty foods, which will help the animal gain weight is common. Another common inhumane treatment in the animal welfare industry is keeping the animals in confinement. In most cases the animals stay in confinement their whole life. The ... The final phase is called the feedlot or finishing phase, where the calves are usually kept in very high numbers and fed forage and grain to end up weighing 1,000 1,500 pounds before being slaughtered. Another animal that is treated unfairly and packed with hormones is birds such as hens, chickens, and turkeys. • 3. How Does Rap Music Affect Society American Rappers have been perceived as artists who cannot do any good to society, because of their lyrics or the music videos that they make, but that is only one small group of individual rappers. Generalizing has never been a good thing, and that is exactly what these people do all the time putting all rappers in the same category. How can some people be so ignorant and not recognize the excellent music that has saved people from themselves? Out there right now there are a lot of rappers that are always making beautiful music and this type of rap music has been made since Hip Hop s beginnings. Making people believe that rap music is the worst thing that has ever happened just makes the society unknowledgeable and doesn t allow that the good rap music that has already inspired a lot of people to overcome their adversities reach and help even more people. The Imperial Japanese army was responsible for their own downfall in WWII as they made fatal decisions. First, the Japanese army neglected to routinely change their codes. Synaptic Vesicles contain neurotransmitters within the Axon. Neurotransmitters themselves are chemical messengers that travel through the neurons and activate receptors on the receiving cell. The neurotransmitters are diffused through the synaptic cleft a region between the two neurons and gap the neurotransmitter needs to cross to make it to the receiving cell. The selected works mark turning points in the writing of the life of Cook, and each of them is considered as an important work within the field of Cook studies. They all display certain characteristics and carry certain discourses that mark them as also being evocative of their respective time periods. Cook scholars have often tried to prove or disprove certain facts, striven to edit and correct details or attempted to replicate and summarize the total available information. All of this is part of a wider discourse, an exploration of which is helpful in interpreting the backdrop surrounding Captain James Cook. It seems only logical to start with the very first biography, although several works penned by Cook s colleagues dealing with his character had appeared before this, most notably that of Johann Reinhold Forster, naturalist on board the second voyage, in 1778. Forrest Gump is the portrayal of a man that has been alienated from society, not because he is unintelligent or dimwitted, but rather because he is not restricted by the conventional ideals, which are embedded, within his culture; thus, Forrest challenges the conformities and principals that most people are accustomed to. The contrast that Robert Zemeckis, director of the film, is attempting to convey through the character of Forrest Gump is how most people are too smart for there own good; and thus, try to escape the realities and actualities of life. While other characters in the story are suppressed by society s conflicts, Forrest remains blinded to all; hence, he is able to live in the moment, rather than evading what is real. Forrest s unique selflessness and compelled nature to do what is right, as opposed to what is easy, are what our society incorrectly labels stupidity or ignorance. Zemeckis is obviously pointing out that an individual has no control over his or her own destiny and in order to live a noble life, must accept life as it is. I think it is very appropriate that Zemeckis begins his movie with the scene in which he does. On the other hand, when Cristina was found in the barn by Vittorio, she had already chop off the head of the chicken with blood staining in her hands, this doesn t necessary mean that Cristina is performing the chicken ceremony since the process requires [...] cut out the heart to put in your soup later [...] (Ricci 54) and when Vittorio carries out the ceremony secretly by himself, he found out later that I had forgotten to cut out the chicken s heart (Ricci 120) . • 25. Bayesian Learning Essay examples BAYESIAN LEARNING Abstract Uncertainty has presented a difficult obstacle in artificial intelligence. Bayesian learning outlines a mathematically solid method for dealing with uncertainty based upon Bayes Theorem. The theory establishes a means for calculating the probability an event will occur in the future given some evidence based upon prior occurrences of the event and the posterior probability that the evidence will predict the event. Its use in artificial intelligence has been met with success in a number of research areas and applications including the development of cognitive models and neural networks. At the same time, the theory has been criticized for being philosophically unrealistic and logistically inefficient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They allow intelligent systems flexibility and a logical way to update their database of knowledge. The appeal of probability theories in AI lies in the way they express the qualitative relationship among beliefs and can process these relationships to draw conclusions (Pearl, 1988). One of the most formalized probabilistic theories used in AI relates to Bayes theorem. Bayesian methods have been used for a variety of AI applications across many disciplines including cognitive modeling, medical diagnosis, learning causal networks, and finance. Two years after his death, in 1763, Rev. Thomas Bayes Essay Toward solving a Problem in the Doctrine of Chances was published. Bayes is regarded as the first to use probability inductively and established a mathematical basis for probability inference which he outlined in this now famous paper. The idea behind Bayes method is simple; the probability that an event will occur in future trials can be calculated from the frequency with which it has occurred in prior trails. Let s consider some everyday knowledge to outline Bayes rule: where there s smoke, there s fire. We use this everyday cliche to suggest cause and effect. But how are such relationships learned in and from everyday experience? Conditional probability provides a way to estimate the likelihood of some outcome given a particular situation. Bayes theorem further refines this idea by incorporating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Stuart May 14, 2010 An Artistic Representation of the Sixties Through Across The Universe Many historical fiction films that we watch fail to depict history in an accurate way due to the emphasis on entertainment and revenue instead of keeping the integrity of its historical events. However, some motion pictures stay true to history while providing entertainment through fictional stories. Although the stories are fictional, movie writers can craft stories that represent the history, attitudes, and personalities of a time period in a historically accurate way. A prime example of a movie that is entertaining and represents history accurately is Across The Universe, directed by Julie Taymor in 2007. This film succeeds in ... These are prime examples how the Beatles music influenced the portrayal of Taymor s characters, but also how the characters represent real people. Not only does the music represent the characters, but also Taymor integrates the songs into real historical events. • 28. Anne Bradstreet And Puritan Writing Style Faith has played an incredibly large role throughout all of American history. This is shown especially in early America when the Puritans settled in North America. Writing in this time period shows just how prominent faith is in this time period, as much of it directly alludes to the Bible. Throughout the time period writing and beliefs evolved. This is highly noticeable when comparing American poet Anne Bradstreet, and clergyman Jonathan Edwards. Bradstreet s works include poems such as To My Dear and Loving Husband , and Upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666 and while Edwards wrote many sermons, the most famous is Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God . These works differ in many ways, but many comparisons and contrasts can be made in regards to writing style and beliefs presented in these works. The first major difference between these two writers is the major difference in their writing styles. Though both are undoubtedly Puritan in style they hold many differences in how they write, and what they write about. Anne Bradstreet s writing is seen as rather basic in it s composition and rhyme scheme. The writing is in stanzas, much like other poetry, and the rhyme is a very basic AA B B scheme, in To My Dear and Loving Husband she writes, If ever two were one, then surely we./If ever man loved her wife, then thee; ( lines 1 2) these opening lines illustrate the simplicity in her writing. It not only freed slaves from slavery, but it was the beginning of a whole new world. Though racism and segregation was still an issue, African Americans were no longer anyone s property. How it all started On November 16, 1860, Abraham Lincoln became the sixteenth president of the United States. He was the first president of the Republican Party. Lincoln was never a fan of slavery. He believed that If slavery were not wrong then nothing were wrong. The big issue he saw since he was a young lawyer was that the constitution protected slavery. Nonetheless, the ESEA was just a quick, ready solution to provide funds to schools at that time but not one that was extensively studied to ensure true equality in distributing those funds. Title I of the Act, which is still implement in the new version of the ESEA that s now called the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002, was the most important part which contained the initiative of providing funds to eligible schools and the way they would be distributed. According to Phyllis McClure, a civil rights activist who also served in the U.S. Office of Education s Title I Task Force, this Title I in particular contained a loophole that allowed for poor schools to still not get their equal share of the funds (McClure). African Americans had been thoroughly disadvantaged of their own African culture. While slavery and segregation were extremely damaging, African Americans were also hurt by integration and adaptation that denied them the knowledge of their history of struggle and the memory of their own cultural practices. In the process of adaptation, integration, and lodging, African Americans took on white cultural attitudes and values in regard to sexuality and gender. As a result, African American men became sexist and misogynistic and African American women became self hating. In hating African American women, African American men hated themselves. Essay on Analysis of Rita Dove’s, “Daystar” C Stevens 07/09/2010 Professor Kierath English 102.212 Analysis of Rita Dove s, Daystar Daystar by Rita Dove is an expressive poem, which centers on the main character, a young mother and wife, who internally struggles with her burdensome, daily duties, which creates a lack of freedom in her world. Dove s choice of words lets the reader empathize with her confined life. In this poem, irony exists for the mere fact that from birth to adulthood the female population is brought up to feel fulfilled by simply becoming a wife and mother; however, this poem describes the monotonous duties and the joyless bond that can be between husband and wife. As the poem opens, Dove begins with a metaphor that entertains the idea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later that night when Thomas roller over and lurched into her, she would open her eyes and think of the place that was hers this proves the point that she cannot even express herself sexually because she does not feel as if she has control in the situation. Her mind wanders elsewhere, in a place where she is her own master, instead of what is reality. Additionally, the main character s husband shows some selfish tendencies in the fact that he may not notice his wife s discontentment with his affection. However, this may also present the lack of communication between man and wife and therefore may cause a sense of isolation from her husband. The main character possesses the characteristics of most young women, a full plate of responsibility and the lack of freedom that can wither away a person s soul. My response to this poem is that I strongly respect the author for bringing up such a controversial issue such as discontentment with being a stay at home mother, since this is usually to be expected of women. Dove explains the poem delicately and leaves the underlying sense that she may have possibly been through the situation herself. This being said, her imagery is wonderfully used and the metaphor of the doll being slumped over is a brilliant way to reflect upon the main character s feelings and actions. The irony comes into play, in my opinion, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sandy Hook Elementary Shootings In the aftermath of the Sandy Hook elementary shootings, the NRA executive vice president, Wayne Lapierre, released a statement in a press conference that spoke of how politicians who wanted to make schools a gun free zone only serve to invite all potential killers that schools are the safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk. The only thing to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun was an important aspect of his speech, which emphasized the need to protect the children in schools with guns. He made the point that the President is surrounded and protected by Secret Service agents who are armed. • 48. Orc Descriptive Writing As the result of a blunt force impacting my head, most like due a rock, I slowly regained my consciousness. My vision was blurry. Hearing some indecipherable speech around me, I try to move around, only to feel a tight binding of rope on my wrists and ankles. Moving around was not an option. As my eyesight stabilized and senses regained, I realized that I had been hanging on a wooden cylinder upside down. As stiff as my body was, I moved my head around, trying to grasp my current location and situation. 3 foot tall, bulky, grotesque creatures surrounded me. Their facial features resembled that of a pig, though much more ugly. Fat covered bodies only covered by a dirtied loincloth. Each of them wielded various weapons, although the most common seemed to be a wooden spear with a metal tip. If my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This one was different from the others. Its figures was roughly half the size of the common Orc, but instead of the amounts of fat that could be seen clearly (too clearly) in the rest, toned and defined muscles were present. Grey skin was pigmented instead of the usual murky pink. As a sign of its prestige, it donned leather armor covered by a rugged white cloak along with what seemed to be a staff. It was clearly the dominant one out of the herd. However, despite that, it still had the same repulsive face as the rest. I classified this one as a [High Orc]. Holding up its staff, it started a chant with a weird rhythm, and soon after the rest followed soon after. Two Orcs carried me from my original position and took me towards the altar. After tying me to the altar with another piece of rope, this time slightly thicker than the ones used for my hands and legs, they returned to their original position and continued chanting with the rest. From my current inference, it was safe to say that what was occurring was a ritual, and I was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Roman Province Of Dacia The Roman province of Dacia consisted of most of Romania from approximately 100 to 271 A.D. The Daco Roman was overran again and again by barbarian conquerors. Many migrants traveled to Romania. In the 5th and 6th century two major events happened. First in the 5th century, came the Huns and in the 6th century they were followed by the Avars. The Huns were a nomadic tribe whose origin is unknown but, most likely, they came from somewhere between the eastern edge of the Altai Mountains and the Caspian Sea, roughly modern Kazakhstan (Kelly, 45). The Avars were a confederation of heterogeneous (diverse or varied) people consisting of Rouran, Hephthalites, and Turkic Oghuric races who migrated to the region of the Pontic Grass Steppe (an area corresponding to modern day Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan) from Central Asia after the fall of the Asiatic Rouran Empire in 552 CE. After the Huns and Avars came the Slavs which were designates an ethnic group of people who share a long term cultural continuity and who speak a set of related languages known as the Slavic languages. After the Huns, Slavs and Avars came, Romania the slowly settled down and a feudal order was born. Around the 8 10th century, Eastern Orthodox Christianity was brought amongst the Romanians by the mastery of the Bulgarian Empire. The Hungarian empire had overruled Transylvania in or around the 11th century. By the time the 16th century rolled around, the well known Romanian principalities of Walachia and ...
