Fourth Amendment Loss Of Privacy
The Fourth Amendment provides citizen the freedom of privacy. The expectation of privacy is covered
under the Fourth Amendment in order to protect this privacy. I strongly believe that an officer should
obtain a search warrant in order to violate one s right to privacy when crossing the boundary of
personal items. By searching an individual backpack, purse or wallet, one s privacy is invaded.
According to the court in People v. Cregan personal items such as cigarette packs (found in pockets),
wallets, or purses may be searched due to these items being inaccessibility of the individual at the time
of an arrest. This ruling allows officers to violate one s privacy by searching these items; even though,
the items are personal to the individual.

Essay about Divorce
Divorce The Movie
In society today, divorce is common with approximately 60% of marriages not lasting. Prior to their
parents splitting up, children struggle with how to thrive in an environment where their parents are
constantly arguing. This is the backdrop for my screenplay. One of the protagonists, Kristi, is an artist
who goes running for several hours every night, returning after midnight when she is certain that her
parents are asleep. She is a thoughtful and taciturn character who thinks that she is to blame for the
problems that her parents are experiencing. As time progresses, Kristi becomes increasingly hopeless
about her life and her paintings reflect her emotions because Kristi uses increasing amounts of dark
colors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After trying without success to get Kristi to talk about what is happening with her family, Amelia runs
with Kristi one night. After they are gone for about an hour, they return and Kristi s parents are still
fighting. They both decide to spend time in Amelia s bedroom.
Amelia tells Kristi that she is impressed by her ability to run fast. Kristi replies that it is what she must
do to get away from her parents every night. Amelia suggests that Kristi join the cross country with
her the next spring, but Kristi is not interested. Amelia asks Kristi what she has to lose and Kristi
replies time , an answer that does not impress her friend. Amelia asks Kristi if she will try being on the
cross country team for four weeks so that she can see how it goes. Kristi agrees.
Kristi discovers that she loves to run every day after school. Her parents get divorced midway through
the second semester. She annoys Amelia by her ability to run faster. The two friends constantly race
each other and both improve as a result.
Depiction of males should also be examined. This can be done by having Kristi s younger brother,
William, also participating in sports. He plays basketball because his father forces him to do so and he
consequently lacks the athletic drive that his sister possesses. William can be far more focused on his
appearance than his tomboy sister Kristi. He is also moody most of the time and shouts at his family
member,

Why Is The Nuremberg Trial Important
The Nuremberg Trials The Nuremberg Trials started November 20, 1945, and ended October 1, 1946.
This was the first trial like this in the history of mankind, and the Nazis are the ones who started it.
Twenty four high ranking Nazis went on trial because of the horror that they gave people during
WWII, (History.com 2017). First of all, the trials started because after the war everyone knew what
the Nazis were doing, with the Jews and the Concentration Camps. So when the war was over the
other countries in the war could take the people in charge of doing so to the Jews to court. The
countries that took the Nazi group on trial was, Great Britain, Soviet Union, and the United States
(History 2017). What mostly everyone was put on trial

The Article Fear, Romance, And Transience
The article called Fear, romance, and transience in the lives of homeless women by Radley, Hodgetts
and Cullen was a thought provoking article. I did not grow up in a neighborhood where homeless
people were present, nevertheless; I have learned many assumptions about homeless people through
what I have seen, my family s guidance and by watching numerous television shows and news reports
on television and on the radio. Since these assumptions have been embedded in my life it has become
a norm for me to think about homeless people as different from other humans who are not homeless.
Since I was a child, my parents would always tell me to never talk to strangers and ignore the
homeless because they are dangerous, dirty and poor people. From a young age it was evident that
homeless people were not like everyone else and they should be treated differently. The only place I
have been that has homeless people present is Toronto. I rarely visit Toronto but when I do, I only see
homeless males who usually have beards with low hygiene. In reference to the article this image does
reflect the over representation of men among the street homeless (Radley et al. P. 437. 2006). Now
whenever I go to Toronto and see a man matching this description on the streets I automatically
assume he is homeless. I also assume homeless people are intoxicated. I learned this assumption
because many of the times I have been to Toronto the homeless people are stumbling around. For
example, I went

Soccer Informative Speech
The audience went silent. The crowd locked their eyes on only two things, the soccer player and the
ball. This was their last chance. If they score this penalty, they have a chance to move on into the
finals. The player kept his attention on the ball. He ran towards it and kicked it with a powerful force,
aiming it towards the soccer net. The audience threw their hands up with tears in their eyes . The
stadium now filled with passionate cheers as everyone jumped up and down from their seats. Soccer is
the greatest discovery because; no other sport has the power to unite countries. It helps with
promotion, which increases the financial situation of an economy. In addition, soccer is one of the
fewer sports that does not discriminate. Anyone can enjoy the wonderful benefits of this sport. The
sport started back with the ancient Greeks and Romans. According to an online website (The History
of Soccer), they played games that involved using a ball and their feet. Back to medieval France, the
French played a violent version of this sport called la choule which later on became banned. On the
other hand, in medieval England, the English played a different version of the game that included the
rules and laws of the sport. In the same article, in 1872, the first game was between England and
Scotland. (The History of Soccer). The sport became popular that it spread across Europe and many
other countries. The U.S. implanted their first soccer league in 1921. Unforgettable soccer

The Celebration Of Carnival In Twelfth Night And Paradise...
Carnival in history is a grand celebration that most normal people today in Louisiana would have
called Mardi Gras. The grand festival of Carnival is famously known for critiquing numerous social,
gender, political, and religious norms during the Renaissance. William Shakespeare s play about cross
dressing Twelfth Night and John Milton s religious fictional Paradise Lost utilize the festivities and
the enjoyment of traditional festivities carnival ideas like Viola s and Satan s disguises; role reversals
of Olivia, Satan, and Eve; excess food eaten by Sir Toby and Eve; madness in terms of Twelfth Night s
craziness and Satan s wrath; and violence in terms of physical and psychological.
Twelfth Night s name itself is a clear reference to the famous Christian celebration of the Epiphany,
which closely represents the twelfth night of Christmas and the beginning of the celebration of
Carnival which often has partaken in wearing disguises and societal role reversals. The religious
celebration of the Epiphany is also the point in historical religious history where the three wise men or
magi respectfully brought the three gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the recently born Jesus
Christ of Nazareth. In terms of disguise, Viola skillfully and dutifully disguises herself as Cesario in
order to safely find her long lost brother Sebastian who she sadly and quickly presumes is dead. Since
Twelfth Night is a play, the actors put on their disguise, and traditionally the role of

Porsche And The Sport Car Industry Essay
The situation
Porsche was founded in 1931 by Fernand Porsche with his son and son in law (Anton Piech the father
of VW chairman Ferdinand Piech). Porsch started as a firm that sold design and engineering services
to other carmakers. Porsche produces VW beetle in 1934 and the first branded sports car (the Porsche
356 series) in 1948 after ww2. In 2007 was the world s most profitibale automaker on a per unit basis
with a production of just 100,000 automobiles annually with an average revenue of $91,974 per car. In
2007 Porsche income increased to $9.4 billion on revenue of $10 billion and for 3 years successively
2007 to 2008 Porsche was the top ranked brand in J.P Power and Associates initial Quality Study .
Porsche belong to the sport car industry. It is a small size company that target a small niche of the
market (skim the elites of the society: very welthy).
Porshe wanted to merge with VW to safe its interests. In early March 2008, Porshe agreed to be taken
over by Volkswagen. VW is an important partner and supplier for Porsche small independent player in
the auto industry focused on the performances sports car market. Porsche ownes 50% of VW . It was a
very smart move by Porsche to protect itself from competition as a small company that targets a small
niche and to avoid being taking over by other huge car companies such as General motors, Chylser
and Ford. However, the merge between these organizations can be challenging because VW and

Immigration Laws And The United States
Immigration laws have resulted in a situation where many illegal immigrants live and work in the
United States. Yet, it is an important issue that has been blown out of proportion by the media and
politicians. Here in the United States, Syrian refugees have enriched our cultural growth into a more
diverse and positive outcome and have enhanced our influence in the World. However, Americans
have responded to their arrival with violence and hate towards them.
In the late 19th century, the Arab world was under the Ottoman Empire. The United States chose to
classify this certain group as Arab immigrants along with others that were under this empire including
Turks, Greeks, and Armenians. Despite that the ruling Ottoman authority was Islamic, they were seen
as Turks and the vast majority were Christians. At the turn of the twentieth century, Arabs became
more associated with being Muslim and Syrians were labeled as Christians, which is why Syrians
were seen as more favorable. In the 1900s, the Chinese Exclusion Act identified those who were
considered white or not. This was important because once stated that a person is White , they can
become a naturalized citizen. According to Encyclopedia of Race, Ethnicity, and Society, Richard T.
Schaefer says, In 1914 George Dow was denied U.S. citizenship by a judge on the grounds that he
could not satisfy the prerequisite of being a free White person. The decision was reversed based on the
argument that Syrians were in fact members

Jacob Research Paper
Today s text describes Jacob s fight with a man.
Jacob wrestled with the man until daybreak.
During the hard fighting, the man struck Jacob s hip, which was put out of joint.
Despite great pain, Jacob was fighting against the man without giving up
At last, the man ardently asked Jacob, Let me go, for the day is breaking. (32:26)
From this scene, we wonder, why didn t Jacob allow the man to go?
Clearly, we are able to know the answer from Jacob s saying.
I will not let you go, unless you bless me. (32:26)
To Jacob, the reason to fight with the man was to receive a blessing.
Why did Jacob need the blessing, even putting his life in danger?
In order to answer the question, we first should look at his life.
Jacob was a born fighter.
Even before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regarding this, the prophet, Hosea said that [Jacob] wept and sought his favor. (Hosea 12:4)
Then, a wonderful thing happened.
The man wrestling with Jacob asked, What is your name? (32:27)
And, Jacob answered, Jacob. (32:27)
Then the man said to Jacob, You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel,
For you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed. (32:28)
Now, we can answer to the question I raised at the beginning of this sermon.
Why Jacob needed a blessing, even putting his life in danger?
In fact, Jacob s past life was to plunder Esau s birthright and blessing.
Jacob was a thief and a bad fighter.
So, in order to face Esau confidently, he urgently needed a true blessing gained through a fair fight.
At that time, God was willing to fight with Jacob to give an opportunity to fight in a right way, to give
a blessing through the new name, Israel.
Through the fight, God made Jacob reconcile with himself.
Through the name, God gave Jacob new personality.
You have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed.
Now, Jacob was ready to meet Esau.
Now, Jacob was ready to go forward.
In light of today s scripture, I want to ask

The Public Relations Value Of Super Bowl Advertising
Every year, millions of viewers from around the world tune in to watch one of the most exhilarating
events in sports unfold the Super Bowl. The one game, winner take all contest for supremacy in the
National Football League has grown into more than just a football game opposing the best teams of
the NFL. It has become the premier event for new television advertising. With half of the ten, all time
most watched television events having been Super Bowls; networks are able to sell precious seconds
of airtime to large companies for millions of dollars. As we move into the 21st century, publicity for
the game s commercials has come to rival that of the game itself. Since it s beginning, the Super Bowl
has drawn top sponsor dollars and high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But there is another advantage that can come out of having your name or product aired during the big
game. Free publicity. The social factor of public fascination with Super Bowl advertisements can
create huge amounts of free publicity. People are interested in Super Bowl commercials and watch
them closely, which allows the media to give them a lot of attention (Goldberg 15). There is also a
public relations value of having ads rated highly by media critics and the public, which often results in
even more free publicity. Obviously, this free publicity can be a definite bonus for a company, while
helping to reduce the otherwise expensive per commercial costs from a cost benefit standpoint
(Goldberg 16). However, as many companies have come to find out, paying the expensive airtime
price and running a commercial during the Super Bowl does not guarantee the company will benefit
from it s ad. Empower MediaMarketing(EM2), one of the country s largest media buyers, spent
several years researching the question of when it makes sense to air an ad during the Super Bowl.
Their study, which was released in 2000, focused on how people watch commercials during the big
game. It reported that people pay more attention to Super Bowl ads than regular television ads.
However, the study also showed that the average commercial is only remembered by 10% of people,
which translates into just 14% remembering Super Bowl ads.

Our Time Here at Berks
Our team here at Berks has experienced much over the past 2 1/2 years, carrying the unofficial mantra,
TOC: Take on Change. We ve built and moved into a new facility, been awarded a new staffing
contract, seen people come and go, and transitioned over to an electronic health record. It prides me
that we have been a model for growth and development. Many of you exemplify positive values that I
believe make our work worthwhile. During our time together, I have advocated on your behalf and
made decisions with focus toward what is best for our future and for this agency. We all recognize that
change comes at a cost and that at each crossroad we have the opportunity to determine which road to
follow. We can accept challenges, making them work to our benefit, or we can resist progress. For me
personally, and as you probably have seen, I choose not to be held hostage by those who thwart efforts
to maintain a positive and rewarding work environment. This said I also do my best to give others the
benefit of the doubt, with hopes that others do the same in return. I have done this for many of you
regardless of opinions or differing views and suggestions. Some of you can vouch for this as it has
been at the expense of your own frustration. I ve spoken with each of you on numerous occasions
about toxic effects of gossip and rumors. Previous administrators have done the same, even to the
point of sending official documentation. I have also spoken with some of you about your gifts

Silas Deane Research Paper
History is often said to be what has happened in the past, and a historian s job is to bring that
information back, without distorting it. This undistorted passing of history is often times may not
always be achieved, and the story of the death of Silas Deane is a great example of that The formerly
known story was one of rags to riches, and back to rags. He was born to a humble blacksmith, who
had high aspirations for his son, and sent him off to Yale, where he studied law. He opened his own
practice and was very successful. Not satisfied, he entered into the world of politics, working his way
up the ladder, eventually becoming a delegate to the first and second Continental Congresses, drawing
the attention of leaders. He was then sent to France as the American representative of the colonies,
later joined by Benjamin Franklin and Arthur Lee. He was described as ambitious and someone to be
watched, even accused of using his position in government for personal profit. Further controversy
forced him out of France, America, and England, ending up in Flanders. He lived there until the
controversy died down some and then moved to England, where he lived in obscurity, resorting to
drinking, and living in the house of a prostitute. His one loyal friend, Edward Bancroft, provided
financial support for him. When he thought the coast was clear to move back, he set sail for America
aboard the Boston Packet out of London. On its way, a storm came, blowing out both of the ships

Security Of Database Systems Has Become Very Important Now...
DATABASE SECURITY
Abstract:
Security of database systems has become very important Now a days. As many of the operations now
a days depend on the database systems, security became a problem because of increase in the number
of web applications. If the data is affected in an application, it not only affects that single application
but it affects the entire applications present in that system. Data may be damaged not only from the
outside damages but may be also from inside damages. Hence, we are using some of the data security
techniques like encryption of the data and decryption of the data for keeping the data safe.
Introduction for security of DB:

So, information control is required for the correct flow of data. For the encryption of the data, we use
the cryptographic control.
There are different types of components which provide the data protection in the DBMS. Some such
components are access control and semantic correctness. Secrecy of data is maintained by the access
control. If a person wants to make changes to the data, then it checks for whether the person trying to
change the data is the appropriate user or not by using some of the security points. By these security
points we can say that whether the person can use the data or not.
Secrecy of data can also be maintained by the use of some techniques like encryption which is applied
to the data when transmitted or when stored. Now the problem is how to change or access the
encrypted data. There is a technique called semantic correctness which verifies the semantics of data.
If the semantics are correct data can be accessed. The data is stored in the form of symbols. At the end
we can recover the data and can make sure whether the data is correct and it is available by using of
the recovery system and concurrency control.
Now the research areas are also included in the database security. There are some special techniques
involved in the research part which are order preserving and privacy preserving. The applications
mainly based on the privacy and the correctness of order.

Blair Waldorf Research Paper
Sometimes, there are characters from television shows, movies, or literature that people may aspire to
be or simply wish they were. This may be because of the characters traits or because of the
opportunities these characters have. For me, if there were any fictional character I would love to be, it
would be Blair Waldorf. Blair is a girl from the television show, Gossip Girl, who starts off as a
teenager and ends the show in her early 20s, all the while maintaining her status in New York s Upper
East Side. Blair Waldorf has medium length brown hair throughout the course of the show. At a stature
of about 5 2 , she has a delicate, petite frame. Appropriately, her personal style is feminine, preppy,

families apart. As a result of her powerful determination, after being set back after drama with a
teacher at her high school ensued, she gets her way and finds herself accepted into an Ivy League
school, Columbia University. When her mother decides to pass on the Waldorf fashion company,
Waldorf Designs, to Blair, she perseveres and releases her own personalized line, undeterred by
mishaps regarding production of clothing, competing designers, and questions about ownership. To
top it off, she and her on and off boyfriend/fiance finally tie the knot in the last episode,
notwithstanding their formerly rocky relationship, and within five years of kicking off their
matrimony, they have a child named Henry. Really, Blair seemingly lives happily ever after, which is a

Involuntary Psychiatric Commitment Chapter 15 Summary
Chapter 15 Summary: Involuntary Psychiatric Commitment Many ethical issues surround the
involuntary psychiatric commitment of mentally ill patients. In the 1980s, the city of Manhattan was
overwhelmed by the surplus of mentally unstable and homeless individuals residing on the streets. In
an effort to help relieve the burden on the city, Project Help was created to provide assistance to the
needy. Joyce Brown, a 40 year old homeless woman, slept outside of an ice cream parlor for 18
months. Her appearance suggested that she was mentally unstable and in a state of constant self
neglect. Project Help forcibly admitted her to the emergency department of a local hospital and
injected with antipsychotic drugs and tranquilizers. After being evaluated ... Show more content on

Proponents of psychiatry argue that it is benevolent and acts in the best interest of the patient. Thomas
Szasz, a famous psychiatrist, argues that psychiatry should only help those who voluntarily seek help
and criticized the notion of involuntary commitment. He believes that this is simply a way to rid
society of strange people. Szasz held that any mental illness without physical symptoms is a myth and
not a disease and should be treated as such. In 1972, Federal Judge Frank Johnson ruled that all
committed mental patients should either receive individual treatment or be released. This ruling helped
to establish the two necessary conditions for involuntary commitment, that one must be insane and a
danger to oneself or others. The release of new psychotropic medications in the 1970s allowed for
more outpatient treatment and shifted the field of psychiatry towards deinstitutionalization. The idea
was to remove the reliance on mental institutions and replace it with the embrace of community. The
prevalence of violence crimes among the mentally ill and homeless caused a public push for the
incarceration of potentially dangerous mentally ill citizens. In 1977, Juan Gonzalez, a homeless man

The Problem Of Child Labor
Introduction: Outside the natural beauty and scenery across Indonesia and its respective islands, the
behind the scenes action of their economy and social development lies in income disparity and ill
fated use of child labor. With a population of around 249.9 million, Indonesia is the fourth largest (in
terms of population) in the world; however, 30 percent of the people are under 15 years old.
Educational reforms have been at the forefront of the Indonesian government for years and expansion
to free and public education access has had significant progress; unfortunately, more than 4 million
children of junior secondary school age and below do not attend classes / lectures / seminars.
Furthermore, most of these children are then forced to enter the workforce at a very young age and are
vulnerable to exploitation. Based on strong research from the International Labour Organization
(ILO), it is estimated that there are 3.2 million children between the ages of 10 17 years old in
Indonesia engaged in employment with some involved in the worst forms of child labour. By
definition, child labour is described as work that children should/could not be doing because they are
too young, or if they are old enough to work because it is too dangerous and hazardous or otherwise
unsuitable to them. In Indonesia, child labour can be broken down into three subcategories: domestic,
plantation, and street/trafficking. Child domestic labour accounts for about 700,000 children with

Reading the timeline of Judaism made me aware of how many times just outside of the Holocaust they

how the discrimination they faced during the Holocaust came about. It is very clear to me know that it
came from a deep seeding of hatred that started long before World War 2. Reading Kabbalah Hasidism
really showed me the effect Judaism has had on the rest on the world. How their traditions have turned
into the traditions of other countries. It is interesting to see in the reading A Hasidic Tish how much
they still today come back to tradition. In modern Christianity, traditions have been changed to match
today s culture. I think it is very interesting to see religious groups like ultra orthodox Jews still
maintain the traditions exactly they way they did when they first arrived in the United States. The
Diaspora Community is almost hard for me to comprehend just due to the fact that I couldn t imagine
being an exile from a town because of my religion. The Jewish people, time and time again, have been
punished for believing and practicing the way they do. I find it empowering the strength that Jewish
leaders must have to keep their people s faith alive. Bar or bat mitzvah is probably the most known
tradition of the Jewish faith. I see it talked about all the time on popular media outlets and before

As his father was going on and on about the color his hair had been, (a beautiful golden blond), the

Cell Membranes In Red Blood Cells
11. The red blood cells (RBCs) in your body contain mainly hemoglobin (Hb), which is a large protein
that cannot pass through the RBC membrane. The RBC membrane is also impermeable to sucrose. If a
red blood cell is placed into a sucrose solution in which the concentration of sucrose on the outside of
the cell is less than the concentration of the Hb on the inside, will the RBC shrink, swell up or remain
the same size? Explain your reasoning. RBCs will swell up by hypertonic, since the plasma membrane
does not prevent its diffusion, water will flow into the cell by osmosis. The cell will swell and
eventually burst. The bursting of a cell is called lysis.

developing its own translation technologies.
Facebook s own neural machine translator went fully operational on August 3, 2017.
Overview
Hello and thank you for your question about Facebook neural machine translation. The short version
is that Facebook has been moving toward integrating their own translation technology since 2011, and
have recently (August 2017) gone fully operational with their own Neural Machine Translator. Below
you will find a deep dive of our findings.
METHODOLOGY

Facebook was an early pioneer of online translation when in 2011 it started using automated systems
to translate users posts and comments in the News Feed. Facebook used Bing initially because they
didn t yet have their own technology.
In January 2015, Facebook open sourced Torch (their deep learning library). Facebook explains
TORCH as an open source development environment for numerics, machine learning, and computer
vision. Many projects on machine learning and AI at FAIR (Facebook AI Research) use Torch.
Also in 2015, Facebook acquired Wit.ai, a startup using understanding of natural language in
text/voice to power user interfaces.
In December 2015, Facebook dropped Bing and started using its own translation technology. The issue
was that Bing was built to translate more properly written website text, not human slang. Facebook
stated that the disconnect between the languages people speak and the content they want to connect to
on the Internet is what made them want to create their own neural network based machine translation
(MT) system.
Also in Dec 2015, Facebook opensourced it s hardware designs for anyone to explore through the
Open Compute Project. The server was called BigSur, which is described as servers with graphics
processing units (GPUs), which have become the chip of choice for deep learning.
Later, in June 2016, Facebook stated that Statistical

The Replication Of Y Chromosomes And How They Have Evolved...
When fertilization occurs within mammals, the sex is immediately determined. Each parent will
contribute one or more chromosomes during the fertilization process, depending on the species. In the
male heterogametic (XY) system, the absence of the Y chromosome results in a female offspring and
the presence of the Y chromosome results in a male. The evolution of the sex determination system
consists of the rise and development of sex chromosomes and concurrently the emergence and
evolution of genes that guarantee the formation of equivalent traits and functions. This paper will
examine three studies: the replication of Y chromosomes and how they have evolved overtime (Cortez
et al. 2014), the structural variation found in Y chromosomes ... Show more content on

2014).
The purpose of the experiment was to understand how reproductive cells can divide and reproduce and
what is being reproduced in the duplication process. This process will assist researchers in
understanding the role of the Y chromosome and its evolution over time. An experiment was
conducted where RNA sequence data for 166 tissue samples from nine mammals and two birds were
observed (Cortez et al. 2014). Cortez et al. (2014) sequenced genomic DNA from two individuals and
then assembled the Y and W linked transcripts. Next, the Y/W transcripts were validated by aligning
the male and female Illumina genomic readings. In order to validate this, a large scale subtraction
approach was used. Next, Cortez et al. (2014) reconstructed the Y linked genes using genomic data
and then defined the Y gene names and the X gametologues. Experimenters predicted the multi copy
genes and the characterization of x linked contigs and genes in platypus. A phylogenetic analysis was
used to align the coding sequences for phylogenetic tree reconstructions based on amino acid
sequences. All trees were inspected for evidence of gene conversion but could not find any. Thus, it is
not frequent in the evolution of sex chromosomes (Cortez et al. 2014). Cortez et al. (2014) have
concluded that the XY system is not only unique to males, but similar to the ZW system found in
female birds.

Example Of Knowledge Argument
INTRODUCTION OF THE THESIS According to Currie (2015), philosophy is the activity of
searching for a reflective understanding of ourselves and also to know about the natural and social
worlds we live in. As we know, philosophy is also related to the phrase thinking about thinking. We
can get to know what is actually happening in this world and we also will solve some of the
confusions that we face in life. Knowledge is the fact and information of knowing something that
through some experiences. In addition, argument is the process of arguing or disagreeing about a
statement that has discussed. For example, we might argue about the statement that we have the
opposite view from the others so we start to make up some proves to solve this matter. In this
assignment, we will discuss about the knowledge argument. From a thesis that we have read, we could
identify its position stated by Frank Jackson.
Knowledge argument stands against physicalism which is proposed by Frank Jackson. Physicalism or
materialism is distinguished with phenomenal consciousness of experiences that depicts mind is
subjective and implies physicality.
Frank Jackson believes that the physical truth seen is not always the whole truth. There is also
phenomenal truths learnt through the things we see where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Descriptive Essay On Guitar Music
For my favorite instrument, I chose the guitar. Many people across the globe are familiar with the
sounds of the guitar. This chordophone, with such a diverse sound, has been showcased in our favorite
songs and bands for decades. As familiar as we are with the sound, how familiar are we the history,
manufacturers, artists, composers, and its popularity in a traditional orchestra? First, I will discuss the
history of the guitar; when it started, the miraculous evolution, and the manufacturers that took the
industry by storm. Although there are many theories, the history is hazy as to exactly where the first
known guitar came from prior to the 16th century. According to the book A Concise History of the
Classic Guitar by Wade Graham, Hittite stone carvings in Turkey; dated 1300 BC, eludes to the
possibility of a similar instrument, as well as mentions in the old testament of long necked lutes in
Mesopotamia. In Greek mythology; Fourth Homeric Hymn, mentions the use of a stringed instrument
made of cow gut and turtle carcass. History becomes a lot clearer around the 16th century, when
printed literature became available. According to acousticmusic the Baroque period is when the guitar
really began to gain popularity, and was commonly used to accompany vocalists. Guitar music began
to grow and evolve; the Classical period lasting from 1730 1820, and the Romantic period of 1815
1910 gained more popularity and diversity and was soon known worldwide. Other

Prions Essay
Prions
Prions have been a mistery for scientists from the day they where discovered. Prions act like viruses
but they are not. Their structure and chemistry are unknown. They are believed to be proteins but that
is yet to be completely proved.
Prion stands for proteinaceous infectious particles . Prions are known to cause many diseases involved
with nervous systems like the brain. They are the ones that cause the well known mad cow disesase in
Britain and scrapie for animals. For humans they are known to cause a rare disease in Papua New
Guinea called Kuru ( or laughing death ) which striked only the cannibals in the Highlander tribes.

This protein was found to be a glycoprotein (PrP): sugars are bounded to the amino acid, and it is half
the size of hemoglobin. PrP is the protein, but we can also find today PrPc (for cellular) and PrPsc (for
scrapie). Prp can be found in steak ( skeletal muscle) and also on the surface of lymphocytes present in
milk, but there is no evidence that the ingestion of this things can cause disease in humans , but there
is the still a risk.
Amyloid hypothesis.
Prions were found to form rods: long fibrils in brain tissues infected with scrapie and Creutzfeldt
Jacob disease. They believed that the fibrils can be distiguished from amyloid; that they represent a
filamentous animal virus causing scrapie and that they are elongated form of prion rods. The most
impotant aspect of these rods is the resemblance to amyloid. Amyloid plaques in the central nervous
system form considered accumulations of waste formed as some sort of a disease process. This
plaques are believed to be aggregations of prions in an almost crystalline state. The production of
antibodies to PrP allowed to demonstrate that amyloid plaques in the brain of scrapie infected
hamsters contain prion proteins. This amyloid plaques have been found on
Alzheimer s disease patients, which leads to the question if prions are related to that disease. Although
it has not been proven yet, the hypothesis is quite reliable. Can prions infectivity be reduced or
eliminated?

God Is The Creator And Savior Of All
We, as one body of Christ, were made in the image of God. God is the creator and savior of all. He is
very loving and caring to all his creations. I believe that we, the people, were created due to his
endless and overwhelming love. Because of that, we were called to be God s disciple and to be more
like him in every way. And so, this leads to being a Christ like Character. What does it mean? What
does it mean to be a person like Christ? Someone who exemplifies Christ like character means that
people can look at that person and feel God s presence in him or her. A Christ like character means to
be like God himself. 1 Corinthians 1:1 states Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ
Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes. My dad, who is currently a Pastor at a Korean Presbyterian church,
is an example of this. He is a man of God and a disciple who needs to be shared about. My dad,
Kyoung Su Mun, is a devoted man. He is passionate towards what he does and is committed to
serving God throughout his entire life. Kyoung is called to serve and preach to others about God s
word and the Gospel. I believe that my dad exemplifies Christ like character because not only does he
try to be more like God, he shows God s presence to others. He is a very loving and caring man. He
helps people go into the right path, which is the path to Jesus Christ. There are many wonderful traits I
can talk about to describe my dad, but one of the most important of them is respect. In 1

To minimize credit risk to the exchange, traders must post a margin or a performance bond, typically

To minimize counterparty risk to traders, trades executed on regulated futures exchanges are
guaranteed by a clearing house. The clearing house becomes the buyer to each seller, and the seller to
each buyer, so that in the event of a counterparty default the clearer assumes the risk of loss. This
enables traders to transact without performing due diligence on their counterparty.
Margin requirements are waived or reduced in some cases for hedgers who have physical ownership
of the covered commodity or spread traders who have offsetting contracts balancing the position.
Clearing margin are financial safeguards to ensure that companies or corporations perform on their

The Theme Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby has been called the great American novel. This novel reflects the theme of the
American Dream. To me, the American Dream would be classified as having a stable good paying job,
having your own family, as well as a good social life with no conflicts. Thomas Jefferson believed that
people are entitled to freely pursue joy and live life in a way that makes you happy, as long as you don
t do anything illegal or violate the rights of others. Thomas Jefferson took the phrase pursuit of
happiness from John Locke and incorporated it into his famous statement of a peoples inalienable
right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in the Declaration of Independence. The American
Dreams maps out everything a person would want in their life which is why so many immigrants
come to America. They believe life will be easier and happier in America due to the myth that most
people know of as the American Dream. This novel tells about a unique American experience by
showing a chain of events which stirs up questions after questions and creates a ton of drama. People
often think that the American Dream consists of being happy all the time and living a happy successful
life. Success is part of it but there is no way you can be happy all the time without having something
bother you or without having problems. Americans as well as everyone else have difficulties in life. It
isn t about rainbows and swirls. This novel truly grasps the concept of a unique American

Hamlet Twelfth Night
William Shakespeare s plays Hamlet and Twelfth Night are completely opposite plays. However, there
are many connections that can be made between the two. Seeing as Hamlet is a dark tragedy and
Twelfth Night is a romantic comedy, both seem to have romantic twists to them developed by the
hindering of the truth of one s appearance. These are shown through major themes, such as deceit
through disguises, complex love triangles, and varying opinions of marriage.
In the play Twelfth Night Shakespeare uses disguise as a major theme. This is partially what makes
the play a comedy but also creates the ties to Hamlet . In the beginning of Hamlet the main character
himself makes everyone believe he is mad to try to get the truth out of his uncle of why is father died.
Many of the other characters in this play pretend to be good natured and caring toward Hamlet, when
in all reality they were unjust and self absorbed. In Twelfth Night, many of the characters disguise
themselves as someone else, such as Viola pretending to be Cesario. Olivia falls in love with Cesario .

Don t Judge A Book By Its Cover

name for some reason made my father and brother laugh till tears come out. As I got older the double,

2. Language The Tower of Babel is symbolic of the fundamental differences between humans and
gods. Humans are not meant to be completely self sufficient as God is, they should look upon God for
guidance in their life. This message was ignored in the construction of the tower in which the two
main motivations were to gain fame and to build a city to preserve unity (Interpreter s Concise
Commentary, 17). Humans should never have the arrogance to try to become gods on earth through
fame. Further, one should only preserve unity if that is God s plan.
Even this looming, powerful structure pales in comparison to the greatness that God can accomplish,
i.e. Humans can never reach the awesomeness and power of God.

exile of 587 B.C. 538 B.C. This is seen in the setting of the story, the apocalyptic genre of the excerpt,
and the detailed explanation of the building of the tower. This story is set in the land of Shinar
(Genesis 11:2). Shinar is described as meaning Babylonia, the ancient state resting in the Tigris
Euphrates river basin. Further, within the state of Babylonia, was the northern city of Babylon. The
setting of Babylon for this ancient tradition indicates a 6th century, exiled Jewish audience as it
establishes a basis for an apocalyptic message about their exile. The detailed description of the brick
making process and bitumen (Genesis 11:3) also indicates a Jewish audience. A Jewish audience
would have been familiar with sun dried bricks, with no archeological evidence of kiln fired bricks at
this time in Palestine (Walton, 163). Mesopotamia however used expensive bitumen almost
exclusively with kiln fired bricks (Walton, 163). Further these expensive building materials would
have only been used for places, temples and other official buildings within a city (Walton, 163). The
authors need to describe this practice indicates an audience new to this land and practice. Further, it s

Car Pollution Essay
The words pollution and automobile are synonymous, and as long as vehicles still use fossil fuels to
run, that won t change. Consumers, communities, and the environment are key stakeholders the auto
industry has to consider when it comes to pollution. More energy efficient, hybrid or electric vehicles
can increase customer satisfaction and add to the company s business performance. For instance, fuel
consumption is an assumption of performance and is very important for consumers. Thus, automotive
companies have to come up with great designs with minimal consumption of resources and raw
materials; engines that give more mileage and less fuel consumption. Given that consumers are the
most important stakeholders, communities of these consumers also want vehicles with the lowest
emissions possible with hopes of keeping the air around them clean and healthy. Once again, these
informal bands and communities of consumers have large amounts of power based on buying power
alone, and can significantly impact an automobile company s business.
A vehicle s environmental impact can be easily measured through miles per gallon and measures of
emissions. In 2011, President Barrack Obama and automobile companies agreed to raise fuel
efficiency standards to meet an average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. This will lead to more fuel
efficient vehicles that will consume less gas, thus burning less fuel and emitting fewer emissions into
the air. Also, according to the Obama administration, this

All sports in some ways are difficult. No two sports are exactly the same with the same struggles.
Playing baseball is the most difficult due to the physical and mental challenges that are performed by

Professional baseball players have a season with 162 games before post season. Baseball players aren

Not only do players think while on defense, but also, they are thinking while batting. A player may be
batting in certain situations where they know they need to hit the ball to a certain place or get a bunt
down at a certain place. Again, this is all happening before they step into the box and react physically
to the pitch being thrown. Baseball is a very hard game physically and when players are struggling it
is very hard to stay positive mentally. It is hard to get enough to hit and when things are going bad our
mind becomes evil. This is where baseball players develop to be mentally tough. Baseball is so hard
that if you go 3 out of 10 you are considered one of the greats. In basketball, if a player shoots 3 out of
10 from the free throw line they re going to be terrible. This lone statistic right here shows how much
failure is in the game of baseball and how hard it is. It is extremely hard for athletes to stay positive in
these slumps they may experience when they aren t getting any hits. Another mental aspect of baseball
is the fears players must overcome to be successful.
The fear of trying to hit a baseball is real. Standing approximately 65 feet away from someone who is
throwing a small ball, that feels like a rock, 95 miles per hour is scary. Not only is this ball coming in

respect to some one which is equivalent to touching his/her feet though feet are not touched. As such
Pranam should always be done by younger ones to elders. It is never answered by saying Pranam
back. In return the elders should give blessings. While in most Indian families, younger men and
women are taught to seek the blessing of their elders by reverentially bowing to their elders. This
custom is known as pranama. When one greets the elders with respect and deference, and in due form,

salutation , employed in reverential situations Pranama is also derived from the root nam, with the

Important Parts Of A Cell
Introduction
The body is made up of billions and billions of cells that make up tissues that make up organs, which
make up organ systems. Within those cells are organelles including but not limited to a nucleus,
organelles, and cytosol. Cells are one of the most basic units of our bodies. With that being said, it is
safe to say that cells are extremely important. There are many parts of a cell and many ways that a cell
works. One of the most important parts of a cell is the plasma membrane. The plasma membrane is the
outer surface of a cell, which is made up of things called phospholipids, which form a phospholipid
bilayer. This bilayer is made up of phospholipids (75%), cholesterol (20%), and glycoproteins (5%).
This bilayer is only possible due to the phospholipids being amphipathic (polar and non polar parts).
Phospholipids are composed of a hydrophilic (water loving) head and 2 hydrophobic (water fearing)
tails. The Plasma membrane separates the cell s internal environment from its external environment. It
also plays a key role in communication among cells and between cells and their external environment,
(Tortora 60).
Many different proteins are located all throughout the plasma membrane. Some float around freely
and others are stationary in specific locations. For example, integral proteins extend all the way
through the lipid bilayer and go further into the interior of the cell. This makes them transmembrane
proteins due to the fact that they go all the way

Lisa Sanders Why Can T This Man Breath While On His Back
In her Why Can t This Man Breath While on His Back? (2015), Lisa Sanders asserted that a man s odd
breathing rhythm can lead to a new medical diagnosis. Sanders supported her position by using a rare
medical case about a man s irregular respiration pattern. Sanders purpose was to give her readers a
lesson about taking action in order to prevent further questioning and damage to one s health. Given
the intellectual language that was used in the article, Sanders was writing to a curious audience with
an instructive tone to urge new abnormalities to be diagnosed.
In the beginning of Sanders article, she used a dialogue to make her column more dynamic. She added
this into her article to change her story s pace. The dialogue also guided her

Sources Of Bigotry In Twelve Angry Men By Reginald Rose
Twelve Angry Men is a dramatic courtroom play by Reginald Rose published in 1954, which focuses
on a jury of twelve men arguing the fate of a young boy, who has been accused of being a murderer.
This play cleverly portrays the fact that prejudice exists in society and within every conflict. There are
many sources of bigotry in this play, those being mostly character and legal conflict. Many jurors
within this play fail to consider all the evidence and take it at face value, this leads to reasonable
doubt, which in turn introduces controversy between characters. Legal conflict is introduced by the
writer, when juror 8 who believes the court failed to carefully examine the evidence and were to hasty
to validate a decision. No. I m saying

Mermaid
SK DOKTOR SULAIMAN, 73000, TAMPIN, N.S.
Honourable judges, teaches and my fellow friends, good morning to all of you. Today I am going to
tell a story about Little Mermaid with Soul . Long long time ago...
In the city of Palermo, on the island of Sicily, there lived a poor fisherman.
He was so poor, he didn t even own a boat. Every day he carried his net down to the sea, tossed it into
the water and pulled it up at the end of the day.
One day when he pulled in the net he saw something sparkling. At first he thought it was a doll. But he
looked closer, he saw that it was a little mermaid, only two or three feet long.
At first he was frightened and wanted to throw her back in the water. He was a superstitious man, like

What would they say about Marina which was what they named the little mermaid because she came
from the sea. You can t just bring a mermaid out into the streets and say, Meet the new member of the
family.
The fisherman thought and thought. Finally, he said, I know. We ll put her in a little cart and cover her
tail with a blanket and say she s the poor crippled daughter of some cousins from Messina, which is
another city in Sicily.
And that s what they did. Marina was fascinated.
Marina had never been happier in her entire life, not even when she lived in the sea. Now she lives
happily with the fisherman and his family. That s the end of the story. Thank

Summary Of Orientalism And The Clash Of Civilization
The way in which Said and Huntington define culture within their texts Orientalism and The Clash of
Civilisation, divulges each author s position within and perception of both the Arab and Western
Worlds. The difference in each author s ideology and contexts Said (a professor in comparative lit with
a Palestinian background, writing in 1978, a time of conflict and devastation in the middle east) and
Huntington, (an American political scientist writing at a time in which his country is at a height of its
power), causes what is described by Said as The clash of definitions (SD). Said views culture as a
culmination and product of ideologies, morals and beliefs propagated by members of society.
Huntington views culture as more definite, established and finite. Said defines a specific culture in
relation to others whist Huntington believes each culture is its own separate entity. Through the
exploration of these contrasting views it can be interpreted that a key difference between each
definition is that Said defines culture as more broad and capable of being influenced whilst
Huntington views it only as a powerful influencer. This may also reflect their positions as either from
the West or the Orient.
Whilst Huntington defines culture as basic and less mutable , Said acknowledges culture as a complex
matter . He defines culture as a product of society and its values and refers to Gramsci s theories of
consent and cultural hegemony to support this definition. Gramsci s

The Impact of Online Communities on Physica Social...
Abstract Nowadays, people spend much time in online communities to network with virtual friends
and play role plays. They provide an advantage for people with special needs who cannot leave the
house, because they benefit from the accessibility of the internet. Moreover, they help people who
often move to stay in touch with their friends. Nevertheless, spending too much time in online
communities leads to drawbacks in the development of the user s personality. More energy is
dedicated to the virtual life than to real life and people lose track of their personalities while busy
building online ones. Also, frequent users of online communities have difficulties beginning
meaningful real life relationships. Virtual friendships are shallow due ... Show more content on

Since many people work abroad, in globalized companies and the chances of being able to stay in the
same job for more than five years are low, society is constantly on the move and grows internationally
and everybody has friends who live everywhere in the world and they don t see as much as they used
to. Since the establishment of online communities, however, these people possess a tool that makes it
easier to stay in touch with old friends and to get to know new ones as well as establish business
relations with people from all over the world within seconds. In conclusion, online communities are
useful for people with special needs and internationally driven lives. On the other hand, online
communities like Second Life limit peoples abilities of developing their own personalities. By
projecting their lives onto avatars, it is hard to differentiate between the real world and the virtual
world. Success and failure as well as capabilities and skills that are experienced online are oftentimes
lacking in real life, although this is hardly noticed. (Scribner, 2007). It is so much easier to be
everyone you want to be in the online world: The shy guy turns into a womanizer and the unemployed
pretends to be a wealthy businessman driving a Mercedes. And while more and more time is spent
online with the virtual alter ego, Second Life gradually becomes First Life . It is a time consuming
activity that also need

The Importance Of Football In The World
By the second half of the Nineteenth Century, the first club and sports federation was established (
football history , 2013). The enthusiasm for football was quickly contagious from Great Britain to
other countries, thanks to the population and urbanization process resulted from the Industrial
Revolution (Spampinato, 2004). There was an urgent need to build a facility could welcome a high
number of spectators and fans (Santo, Mildner, 2010), formed the awareness of sports importance to
individuals and community, to produce a new age of stadia at five sequential steps of progression.
2 2 1 First step stadia 1872 1950 (Hosting): The main purpose of stadium s design was hosting
spectators as possible as it could be, in an age when sports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In order to deal with this issue, as well as stadia were equipped to welcome television broadcasting
systems; stadia were equipped with facilities to attract a wide range of fans (Spampinato, 2004). Seats
had better view angles, stands became roofed, and a higher number of toilet facilities, and beverage
outlets in the stands were provided. That was the start of the concept of fan zones (Fig.8), especially
by 1970 s, when the market saw the appearance of the specialized and dedicated sports architecture
practice (Santo, Mildner, 2010), which produced new image of fans facilities with amenities (greater
revenue, more luxury suites, and higher quality finishes) (Fig.9). Moreover, there were artificial
lighting installations to ensure night broadcasting. A common element of that age, the stadia concept
was an introverted element in the city, although their inner facilities were a comfortable inside yet
anonymous outside, missing both indoor and outdoor safety (Spampinato, 2004).
2 2 3 Third step stadia 1990 1995 (commerce): At the end of The Eighties, more fans resulted in more
accidents and violent situations (Belden, 2012), in 1990 there were new safety measurements to be
adopted in the UK stadia, followed by many nations later. At this step; the stadium was larger, safer,
and had more permanent spaces for different activities (Spampinato, 2004). Consequently, these
facilities were

The expectation of privacy is covered under the Fourth Amendment in order to protect this privacy. I strongly believe that an officer should obtain a search warrant in order to violate one s right to privacy when crossing the boundary of personal items. By searching an individual backpack, purse or wallet, one s privacy is invaded. According to the court in People v. Cregan personal items such as cigarette packs (found in pockets), wallets, or purses may be searched due to these items being inaccessibility of the individual at the time of an arrest. This ruling allows officers to violate one s privacy by searching these items; even though, the items are personal to the individual. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Divorce Divorce The Movie In society today, divorce is common with approximately 60% of marriages not lasting. Prior to their parents splitting up, children struggle with how to thrive in an environment where their parents are constantly arguing. This is the backdrop for my screenplay. One of the protagonists, Kristi, is an artist who goes running for several hours every night, returning after midnight when she is certain that her parents are asleep. She is a thoughtful and taciturn character who thinks that she is to blame for the problems that her parents are experiencing. As time progresses, Kristi becomes increasingly hopeless about her life and her paintings reflect her emotions because Kristi uses increasing amounts of dark colors. ... After they are gone for about an hour, they return and Kristi s parents are still fighting. They both decide to spend time in Amelia s bedroom. Amelia tells Kristi that she is impressed by her ability to run fast. Kristi replies that it is what she must do to get away from her parents every night. Amelia suggests that Kristi join the cross country with her the next spring, but Kristi is not interested. Amelia asks Kristi what she has to lose and Kristi replies time , an answer that does not impress her friend. Amelia asks Kristi if she will try being on the cross country team for four weeks so that she can see how it goes. Kristi agrees. Kristi discovers that she loves to run every day after school. Her parents get divorced midway through the second semester. She annoys Amelia by her ability to run faster. The two friends constantly race each other and both improve as a result. Depiction of males should also be examined. This can be done by having Kristi s younger brother, William, also participating in sports. He plays basketball because his father forces him to do so and he consequently lacks the athletic drive that his sister possesses. William can be far more focused on his appearance than his tomboy sister Kristi. He is also moody most of the time and shouts at his family member, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was the first trial like this in the history of mankind, and the Nazis are the ones who started it. Twenty four high ranking Nazis went on trial because of the horror that they gave people during WWII, (History.com 2017). First of all, the trials started because after the war everyone knew what the Nazis were doing, with the Jews and the Concentration Camps. So when the war was over the other countries in the war could take the people in charge of doing so to the Jews to court. • 5. The Article Fear, Romance, And Transience The article called Fear, romance, and transience in the lives of homeless women by Radley, Hodgetts and Cullen was a thought provoking article. I did not grow up in a neighborhood where homeless people were present, nevertheless; I have learned many assumptions about homeless people through what I have seen, my family s guidance and by watching numerous television shows and news reports on television and on the radio. Since these assumptions have been embedded in my life it has become a norm for me to think about homeless people as different from other humans who are not homeless. Since I was a child, my parents would always tell me to never talk to strangers and ignore the homeless because they are dangerous, dirty and poor people. From a young age it was evident that homeless people were not like everyone else and they should be treated differently. The only place I have been that has homeless people present is Toronto. I rarely visit Toronto but when I do, I only see homeless males who usually have beards with low hygiene. In reference to the article this image does reflect the over representation of men among the street homeless (Radley et al. P. 437. 2006). Now whenever I go to Toronto and see a man matching this description on the streets I automatically assume he is homeless. I also assume homeless people are intoxicated. I learned this assumption because many of the times I have been to Toronto the homeless people are stumbling around. For example, I went ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If they score this penalty, they have a chance to move on into the finals. The player kept his attention on the ball. He ran towards it and kicked it with a powerful force, aiming it towards the soccer net. The audience threw their hands up with tears in their eyes . The stadium now filled with passionate cheers as everyone jumped up and down from their seats. Soccer is the greatest discovery because; no other sport has the power to unite countries. It helps with promotion, which increases the financial situation of an economy. In addition, soccer is one of the fewer sports that does not discriminate. Anyone can enjoy the wonderful benefits of this sport. The sport started back with the ancient Greeks and Romans. According to an online website (The History of Soccer), they played games that involved using a ball and their feet. Back to medieval France, the French played a violent version of this sport called la choule which later on became banned. On the other hand, in medieval England, the English played a different version of the game that included the rules and laws of the sport. In the same article, in 1872, the first game was between England and Scotland. (The History of Soccer). The sport became popular that it spread across Europe and many other countries. • 7. The Celebration Of Carnival In Twelfth Night And Paradise... Carnival in history is a grand celebration that most normal people today in Louisiana would have called Mardi Gras. The grand festival of Carnival is famously known for critiquing numerous social, gender, political, and religious norms during the Renaissance. William Shakespeare s play about cross dressing Twelfth Night and John Milton s religious fictional Paradise Lost utilize the festivities and the enjoyment of traditional festivities carnival ideas like Viola s and Satan s disguises; role reversals of Olivia, Satan, and Eve; excess food eaten by Sir Toby and Eve; madness in terms of Twelfth Night s craziness and Satan s wrath; and violence in terms of physical and psychological. Twelfth Night s name itself is a clear reference to the famous Christian celebration of the Epiphany, which closely represents the twelfth night of Christmas and the beginning of the celebration of Carnival which often has partaken in wearing disguises and societal role reversals. The religious celebration of the Epiphany is also the point in historical religious history where the three wise men or magi respectfully brought the three gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the recently born Jesus Christ of Nazareth. In terms of disguise, Viola skillfully and dutifully disguises herself as Cesario in order to safely find her long lost brother Sebastian who she sadly and quickly presumes is dead. • 9. Immigration Laws And The United States Immigration laws have resulted in a situation where many illegal immigrants live and work in the United States. Yet, it is an important issue that has been blown out of proportion by the media and politicians. Here in the United States, Syrian refugees have enriched our cultural growth into a more diverse and positive outcome and have enhanced our influence in the World. However, Americans have responded to their arrival with violence and hate towards them. In the late 19th century, the Arab world was under the Ottoman Empire. The United States chose to classify this certain group as Arab immigrants along with others that were under this empire including Turks, Greeks, and Armenians. Despite that the ruling Ottoman authority was Islamic, they were seen as Turks and the vast majority were Christians. At the turn of the twentieth century, Arabs became more associated with being Muslim and Syrians were labeled as Christians, which is why Syrians were seen as more favorable. In the 1900s, the Chinese Exclusion Act identified those who were considered white or not. This was important because once stated that a person is White , they can become a naturalized citizen. According to Encyclopedia of Race, Ethnicity, and Society, Richard T. Schaefer says, In 1914 George Dow was denied U.S. citizenship by a judge on the grounds that he could not satisfy the prerequisite of being a free White person. (32:26) From this scene, we wonder, why didn t Jacob allow the man to go? Clearly, we are able to know the answer from Jacob s saying. I will not let you go, unless you bless me. (32:26) To Jacob, the reason to fight with the man was to receive a blessing. Why did Jacob need the blessing, even putting his life in danger? (32:28) Now, we can answer to the question I raised at the beginning of this sermon. At that time, God was willing to fight with Jacob to give an opportunity to fight in a right way, to give a blessing through the new name, Israel. Through the fight, God made Jacob reconcile with himself. Through the name, God gave Jacob new personality. You have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed. Now, Jacob was ready to meet Esau. Now, Jacob was ready to go forward. In light of today s scripture, I want to ask ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has become the premier event for new television advertising. With half of the ten, all time most watched television events having been Super Bowls; networks are able to sell precious seconds of airtime to large companies for millions of dollars. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But there is another advantage that can come out of having your name or product aired during the big game. Free publicity. The social factor of public fascination with Super Bowl advertisements can create huge amounts of free publicity. People are interested in Super Bowl commercials and watch them closely, which allows the media to give them a lot of attention (Goldberg 15). There is also a public relations value of having ads rated highly by media critics and the public, which often results in even more free publicity. Obviously, this free publicity can be a definite bonus for a company, while helping to reduce the otherwise expensive per commercial costs from a cost benefit standpoint (Goldberg 16). However, as many companies have come to find out, paying the expensive airtime price and running a commercial during the Super Bowl does not guarantee the company will benefit from it s ad. Empower MediaMarketing(EM2), one of the country s largest media buyers, spent several years researching the question of when it makes sense to air an ad during the Super Bowl. Their study, which was released in 2000, focused on how people watch commercials during the big game. It reported that people pay more attention to Super Bowl ads than regular television ads. However, the study also showed that the average commercial is only remembered by 10% of people, which translates into just 14% remembering Super Bowl ads. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This undistorted passing of history is often times may not always be achieved, and the story of the death of Silas Deane is a great example of that The formerly known story was one of rags to riches, and back to rags. He was born to a humble blacksmith, who had high aspirations for his son, and sent him off to Yale, where he studied law. He opened his own practice and was very successful. Not satisfied, he entered into the world of politics, working his way up the ladder, eventually becoming a delegate to the first and second Continental Congresses, drawing the attention of leaders. He was then sent to France as the American representative of the colonies, later joined by Benjamin Franklin and Arthur Lee. He was described as ambitious and someone to be watched, even accused of using his position in government for personal profit. Further controversy forced him out of France, America, and England, ending up in Flanders. He lived there until the controversy died down some and then moved to England, where he lived in obscurity, resorting to drinking, and living in the house of a prostitute. • 14. Security Of Database Systems Has Become Very Important Now... DATABASE SECURITY Abstract: Security of database systems has become very important Now a days. As many of the operations now a days depend on the database systems, security became a problem because of increase in the number of web applications. If the data is affected in an application, it not only affects that single application but it affects the entire applications present in that system. Data may be damaged not only from the outside damages but may be also from inside damages. Hence, we are using some of the data security techniques like encryption of the data and decryption of the data for keeping the data safe. So, information control is required for the correct flow of data. For the encryption of the data, we use the cryptographic control. There are different types of components which provide the data protection in the DBMS. Some such components are access control and semantic correctness. Secrecy of data is maintained by the access control. If a person wants to make changes to the data, then it checks for whether the person trying to change the data is the appropriate user or not by using some of the security points. By these security points we can say that whether the person can use the data or not. Secrecy of data can also be maintained by the use of some techniques like encryption which is applied to the data when transmitted or when stored. Now the problem is how to change or access the encrypted data. There is a technique called semantic correctness which verifies the semantics of data. If the semantics are correct data can be accessed. The data is stored in the form of symbols. At the end we can recover the data and can make sure whether the data is correct and it is available by using of the recovery system and concurrency control. Now the research areas are also included in the database security. There are some special techniques involved in the research part which are order preserving and privacy preserving. • 16. Involuntary Psychiatric Commitment Chapter 15 Summary Chapter 15 Summary: Involuntary Psychiatric Commitment Many ethical issues surround the involuntary psychiatric commitment of mentally ill patients. In the 1980s, the city of Manhattan was overwhelmed by the surplus of mentally unstable and homeless individuals residing on the streets. In an effort to help relieve the burden on the city, Project Help was created to provide assistance to the needy. Joyce Brown, a 40 year old homeless woman, slept outside of an ice cream parlor for 18 months. Her appearance suggested that she was mentally unstable and in a state of constant self neglect. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Proponents of psychiatry argue that it is benevolent and acts in the best interest of the patient. Thomas Szasz, a famous psychiatrist, argues that psychiatry should only help those who voluntarily seek help and criticized the notion of involuntary commitment. He believes that this is simply a way to rid society of strange people. Szasz held that any mental illness without physical symptoms is a myth and not a disease and should be treated as such. In 1972, Federal Judge Frank Johnson ruled that all committed mental patients should either receive individual treatment or be released. This ruling helped to establish the two necessary conditions for involuntary commitment, that one must be insane and a danger to oneself or others. The release of new psychotropic medications in the 1970s allowed for more outpatient treatment and shifted the field of psychiatry towards deinstitutionalization. The idea was to remove the reliance on mental institutions and replace it with the embrace of community. The prevalence of violence crimes among the mentally ill and homeless caused a public push for the incarceration of potentially dangerous mentally ill citizens. • 17. The Problem Of Child Labor Introduction: Outside the natural beauty and scenery across Indonesia and its respective islands, the behind the scenes action of their economy and social development lies in income disparity and ill fated use of child labor. With a population of around 249.9 million, Indonesia is the fourth largest (in terms of population) in the world; however, 30 percent of the people are under 15 years old. Educational reforms have been at the forefront of the Indonesian government for years and expansion to free and public education access has had significant progress; unfortunately, more than 4 million children of junior secondary school age and below do not attend classes / lectures / seminars. Furthermore, most of these children are then forced to enter the workforce at a very young age and are vulnerable to exploitation. Based on strong research from the International Labour Organization (ILO), it is estimated that there are 3.2 million children between the ages of 10 17 years old in Indonesia engaged in employment with some involved in the worst forms of child labour. By definition, child labour is described as work that children should/could not be doing because they are too young, or if they are old enough to work because it is too dangerous and hazardous or otherwise unsuitable to them. In Indonesia, child labour can be broken down into three subcategories: domestic, plantation, and street/trafficking. Child domestic labour accounts for about 700,000 children with ... As his father was going on and on about the color his hair had been, (a beautiful golden blond), the son had an idea. Father he said, pointing up to the sky, do you see that cluster of stars up there, just beyond the lion? The father studied the sky for a moment, then nodded. The son continued, Does it not look like your hair did, in the days of your youth? The father studied the sky again for a minute or two then nodded again. Well, the son continued, if the sky shows your hair then you will not need to describe it any more, as it is forever immortalized in the sky, your gift to humanity. The father turned to his son with tears in his eyes, and gave the lad a giant hug, thanking him for giving him his hair back. There on the road, the father and son had a tearful celebration of their own, albeit for different reasons. Unbeknownst to them, a traveling minstrel had heard the entire exchange, and had collapsed from laughter. The RBC membrane is also impermeable to sucrose. If a red blood cell is placed into a sucrose solution in which the concentration of sucrose on the outside of the cell is less than the concentration of the Hb on the inside, will the RBC shrink, swell up or remain the same size? Explain your reasoning. RBCs will swell up by hypertonic, since the plasma membrane does not prevent its diffusion, water will flow into the cell by osmosis. The cell will swell and eventually burst. In December 2015, Facebook dropped Bing and began to outsource its translation services while developing its own translation technologies. Facebook s own neural machine translator went fully operational on August 3, 2017. Overview Hello and thank you for your question about Facebook neural machine translation. The short version is that Facebook has been moving toward integrating their own translation technology since 2011, and have recently (August 2017) gone fully operational with their own Neural Machine Translator. Facebook was an early pioneer of online translation when in 2011 it started using automated systems to translate users posts and comments in the News Feed. Facebook used Bing initially because they didn t yet have their own technology. In January 2015, Facebook open sourced Torch (their deep learning library). Facebook explains TORCH as an open source development environment for numerics, machine learning, and computer vision. Many projects on machine learning and AI at FAIR (Facebook AI Research) use Torch. Also in 2015, Facebook acquired Wit.ai, a startup using understanding of natural language in text/voice to power user interfaces. In December 2015, Facebook dropped Bing and started using its own translation technology. The issue was that Bing was built to translate more properly written website text, not human slang. Facebook stated that the disconnect between the languages people speak and the content they want to connect to on the Internet is what made them want to create their own neural network based machine translation (MT) system. Also in Dec 2015, Facebook opensourced it s hardware designs for anyone to explore through the Open Compute Project. The server was called BigSur, which is described as servers with graphics processing units (GPUs), which have become the chip of choice for deep learning. Later, in June 2016, Facebook stated that Statistical

  • 23. The Replication Of Y Chromosomes And How They Have Evolved... When fertilization occurs within mammals, the sex is immediately determined. Each parent will contribute one or more chromosomes during the fertilization process, depending on the species. In the male heterogametic (XY) system, the absence of the Y chromosome results in a female offspring and the presence of the Y chromosome results in a male. The evolution of the sex determination system consists of the rise and development of sex chromosomes and concurrently the emergence and evolution of genes that guarantee the formation of equivalent traits and functions. This paper will examine three studies: the replication of Y chromosomes and how they have evolved overtime (Cortez et al. 2014), the structural variation found in Y chromosomes ... The purpose of the experiment was to understand how reproductive cells can divide and reproduce and what is being reproduced in the duplication process. This process will assist researchers in understanding the role of the Y chromosome and its evolution over time. An experiment was conducted where RNA sequence data for 166 tissue samples from nine mammals and two birds were observed (Cortez et al. 2014). Cortez et al. (2014) sequenced genomic DNA from two individuals and then assembled the Y and W linked transcripts. Next, the Y/W transcripts were validated by aligning the male and female Illumina genomic readings. In order to validate this, a large scale subtraction approach was used. Next, Cortez et al. (2014) reconstructed the Y linked genes using genomic data and then defined the Y gene names and the X gametologues. Experimenters predicted the multi copy genes and the characterization of x linked contigs and genes in platypus. A phylogenetic analysis was used to align the coding sequences for phylogenetic tree reconstructions based on amino acid sequences. All trees were inspected for evidence of gene conversion but could not find any. Thus, it is not frequent in the evolution of sex chromosomes (Cortez et al. 2014). Cortez et al. (2014) have concluded that the XY system is not only unique to males, but similar to the ZW system found in female birds. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Example Of Knowledge Argument INTRODUCTION OF THE THESIS According to Currie (2015), philosophy is the activity of searching for a reflective understanding of ourselves and also to know about the natural and social worlds we live in. As we know, philosophy is also related to the phrase thinking about thinking. We can get to know what is actually happening in this world and we also will solve some of the confusions that we face in life. Knowledge is the fact and information of knowing something that through some experiences. In addition, argument is the process of arguing or disagreeing about a statement that has discussed. For example, we might argue about the statement that we have the opposite view from the others so we start to make up some proves to solve this matter. In this assignment, we will discuss about the knowledge argument. From a thesis that we have read, we could identify its position stated by Frank Jackson. Knowledge argument stands against physicalism which is proposed by Frank Jackson. This chordophone, with such a diverse sound, has been showcased in our favorite songs and bands for decades. As familiar as we are with the sound, how familiar are we the history, manufacturers, artists, composers, and its popularity in a traditional orchestra? First, I will discuss the history of the guitar; when it started, the miraculous evolution, and the manufacturers that took the industry by storm. Although there are many theories, the history is hazy as to exactly where the first known guitar came from prior to the 16th century. According to the book A Concise History of the Classic Guitar by Wade Graham, Hittite stone carvings in Turkey; dated 1300 BC, eludes to the possibility of a similar instrument, as well as mentions in the old testament of long necked lutes in Mesopotamia. In Greek mythology; Fourth Homeric Hymn, mentions the use of a stringed instrument made of cow gut and turtle carcass. History becomes a lot clearer around the 16th century, when printed literature became available. According to acousticmusic the Baroque period is when the guitar really began to gain popularity, and was commonly used to accompany vocalists. Guitar music began to grow and evolve; the Classical period lasting from 1730 1820, and the Romantic period of 1815 1910 gained more popularity and diversity and was soon known worldwide. Other ... And so, this leads to being a Christ like Character. What does it mean? What does it mean to be a person like Christ? Someone who exemplifies Christ like character means that people can look at that person and feel God s presence in him or her. A Christ like character means to be like God himself. 1 Corinthians 1:1 states Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes. Humans should never have the arrogance to try to become gods on earth through fame. Further, one should only preserve unity if that is God s plan. Consumers, communities, and the environment are key stakeholders the auto industry has to consider when it comes to pollution. More energy efficient, hybrid or electric vehicles can increase customer satisfaction and add to the company s business performance. For instance, fuel consumption is an assumption of performance and is very important for consumers. Thus, automotive companies have to come up with great designs with minimal consumption of resources and raw materials; engines that give more mileage and less fuel consumption. Given that consumers are the most important stakeholders, communities of these consumers also want vehicles with the lowest emissions possible with hopes of keeping the air around them clean and healthy. Once again, these informal bands and communities of consumers have large amounts of power based on buying power alone, and can significantly impact an automobile company s business. A vehicle s environmental impact can be easily measured through miles per gallon and measures of emissions. In 2011, President Barrack Obama and automobile companies agreed to raise fuel efficiency standards to meet an average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. It is extremely hard for athletes to stay positive in these slumps they may experience when they aren t getting any hits. Another mental aspect of baseball is the fears players must overcome to be successful. The fear of trying to hit a baseball is real. Standing approximately 65 feet away from someone who is throwing a small ball, that feels like a rock, 95 miles per hour is scary. Not only is this ball coming in very fast, but this ball can kill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wargrave is also indirectly characterized by is dull reactions to seemingly shocking events. • 43. Important Parts Of A Cell Introduction The body is made up of billions and billions of cells that make up tissues that make up organs, which make up organ systems. Within those cells are organelles including but not limited to a nucleus, organelles, and cytosol. Cells are one of the most basic units of our bodies. With that being said, it is safe to say that cells are extremely important. There are many parts of a cell and many ways that a cell works. One of the most important parts of a cell is the plasma membrane. The plasma membrane is the outer surface of a cell, which is made up of things called phospholipids, which form a phospholipid bilayer. This bilayer is made up of phospholipids (75%), cholesterol (20%), and glycoproteins (5%). This bilayer is only possible due to the phospholipids being amphipathic (polar and non polar parts). Phospholipids are composed of a hydrophilic (water loving) head and 2 hydrophobic (water fearing) tails. The Plasma membrane separates the cell s internal environment from its external environment. It also plays a key role in communication among cells and between cells and their external environment, (Tortora 60). Many different proteins are located all throughout the plasma membrane. Some float around freely and others are stationary in specific locations. For example, integral proteins extend all the way through the lipid bilayer and go further into the interior of the cell. This makes them transmembrane proteins due to the fact that they go all the way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sources Of Bigotry In Twelve Angry Men By Reginald Rose Twelve Angry Men is a dramatic courtroom play by Reginald Rose published in 1954, which focuses on a jury of twelve men arguing the fate of a young boy, who has been accused of being a murderer. • 47. Summary Of Orientalism And The Clash Of Civilization The way in which Said and Huntington define culture within their texts Orientalism and The Clash of Civilisation, divulges each author s position within and perception of both the Arab and Western Worlds. The difference in each author s ideology and contexts Said (a professor in comparative lit with a Palestinian background, writing in 1978, a time of conflict and devastation in the middle east) and Huntington, (an American political scientist writing at a time in which his country is at a height of its power), causes what is described by Said as The clash of definitions (SD). Said views culture as a culmination and product of ideologies, morals and beliefs propagated by members of society. Huntington views culture as more definite, established and finite. Said defines a specific culture in relation to others whist Huntington believes each culture is its own separate entity. Through the exploration of these contrasting views it can be interpreted that a key difference between each definition is that Said defines culture as more broad and capable of being influenced whilst Huntington views it only as a powerful influencer. This may also reflect their positions as either from the West or the Orient. Whilst Huntington defines culture as basic and less mutable , Said acknowledges culture as a complex matter . He defines culture as a product of society and its values and refers to Gramsci s theories of consent and cultural hegemony to support this definition. Gramsci s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since many people work abroad, in globalized companies and the chances of being able to stay in the same job for more than five years are low, society is constantly on the move and grows internationally and everybody has friends who live everywhere in the world and they don t see as much as they used to. Since the establishment of online communities, however, these people possess a tool that makes it easier to stay in touch with old friends and to get to know new ones as well as establish business relations with people from all over the world within seconds. In conclusion, online communities are useful for people with special needs and internationally driven lives. On the other hand, online communities like Second Life limit peoples abilities of developing their own personalities. By projecting their lives onto avatars, it is hard to differentiate between the real world and the virtual world. Success and failure as well as capabilities and skills that are experienced online are oftentimes lacking in real life, although this is hardly noticed. (Scribner, 2007). It is so much easier to be everyone you want to be in the online world: The shy guy turns into a womanizer and the unemployed pretends to be a wealthy businessman driving a Mercedes. And while more and more time is spent online with the virtual alter ego, Second Life gradually becomes First Life . It is a time consuming activity that also need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Seats had better view angles, stands became roofed, and a higher number of toilet facilities, and beverage outlets in the stands were provided. That was the start of the concept of fan zones (Fig.8), especially by 1970 s, when the market saw the appearance of the specialized and dedicated sports architecture practice (Santo, Mildner, 2010), which produced new image of fans facilities with amenities (greater revenue, more luxury suites, and higher quality finishes) (Fig.9). Moreover, there were artificial lighting installations to ensure night broadcasting.
