This document provides an introduction to the use of nuclear medicine with respect to thyroid disorders. It discusses radioactive elements and radiopharmaceuticals used in medical imaging and therapy. Radionuclides like 99mTc, 123I, and 131I can localize in the thyroid gland and are used for thyroid uptake tests, scans, and treatment. Uptake tests measure the thyroid's affinity for iodide and help assess hyperthyroidism. Scans produce images of the thyroid and are used to evaluate nodules and detect abnormal thyroid tissue. Radioiodine therapy treats hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer using the thyroid's uptake of 131I. Precise dosages are calculated based on uptake tests to safely ablate

PowerPoint. Nonradioactive iodine competes with radioactive iodine. This has implications for the use of recombinant human TSH (rhTSH) when preparing differentiated thyroid cancer patients for radioiodine scanning with continued levothyroxine, because the latter contains iodine.
Nuclear medicine uses radiation to provide information about the functioning of a person's
specific organs, or to treat disease. In most cases, the information is used by physicians to make a
quick diagnosis of the patient's illness. What is Radiopharmaceuticals? How Radionuclides are produced?

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.

5. Particles (α, β) have mass, and can
carry high energy in a short length
Therefore, radiopharmaceuiticals
with β decay are used in therapy
6. Photon (γ) has no mass, and can
carry low energy in a long distance
Therefore, radiopharmaceuiticals
with γ decay are used in imaging
7. Pure Element or Ion:
127Xe, 99mTcO4- (Pertechnetate), Na131I
Complex Molecule or Radiotracer :
131I-MIBG, 99mTc-MIBI, 18F-FDG
Radiopharmaceuticals were Supplied
and Administrated in Different Forms:
20. Units of Radiation:
radiation source
radiation beam
absorber
RADIOACTIVITY
RADIATION EXPOSURE
ABSORBED DOSE
Becquerel (Bq) as SI unit
Curie (Ci) as traditional unit
Coulomb per kilogram (SI unit)
Roentgen (traditional unit)
Gray (Gy) as SI unit
rad (rad) as traditional unit
1 Gy is equal to 100 rad
1 mCi is equal to 37 MBq
21. There are other quantities derived from the gray
and the rad which express the biological effects
of such absorbed radiation energy when the
absorber is living matter.
10 mSv is equal to 1 rem
Equivalent Dose:
Sievert (Sv) as SI unit
Rontgen equivalent man (rem) as traditional unit
23. Radiation: Overview
Biological injury:
- Ionization of atoms within the cell
- Ionization breaks molecular bonds
- Cell damage occurs when critical
cell structures are affected, directly
or indirectly
24. Mechanisms of Damage Direct Effects
- The radiation may directly affect an
important molecule, like DNA or a cell
membrane component
- The general scheme is:
A + energy à A+ + e- , where A is a
molecule which is critical to the proper
functioning or production of the cell
25. Mechanisms of Damage Indirect Effects
- The radiation may result in the production
of a free radical
- Free radicals are chemically very reactive
with other molecules
- The result of the interaction of the free
radical with other molecules causes the
actual damage
26.
27. Radionuclides do not damage the
cells in a moment, but in a period
of time
The time of complete damage
depends to amount of radiation
exposure
28. -Imaging of thyroid gland, or extra
thyroidal functioning tissue
-Uptake ratio of thyroid gland
-Treatment of hyperthyroidism
and well differentiated carcinoma
Radioactive usage in Thyroid
disorders:
29. Thyroid Uptake or Iodine Uptake:
is a quantitative method
that measures affinity of
thyroid gland to Iodide
and its metabolism
32. Uptake ratio of thyroid gland is
depended to iodine pool,
