The Concert Hall, Raleigh, Concert, By Paul Randall And...
The concert took place on November 4, 2016 in Meymandi Concert Hall, Raleigh. In concert, I
had enjoyed a lot. Especially the Saxophone and a piano subsequently switched the tune of the
tune as if they were dancing like two lovers. As the saxophone took the airs as well as the piano
and other instruments within the ensemble were in accompaniment for the love of the tune the
texture altered within the tune. The tempo, which was always steady appeared to get quicker like a
pulse by the climax of the tune. It was also at this point the dynamics of the tune were increasingly
becoming louder until all instruments met using a bag on top and then altered the dynamics again
to a reasonable degree until the tune ended. Billy the Kid, arranged by... Show more content on

The tune was hot and enthusiastic and shown dialogue without using any words. The ensemble
played this piece by Cassia Lee supplied the drawn out conversation that sounded like twirling
and dancing in the moonlight with the solo as well as steadiness. This tune reminded me of My
Heart Will Go On in that a story is told of the instrumental nature of it, just as much as when the
lyrics are being sung by Celine Dion. I found listening to this tune a rewarding experience, and it
turned out to be a wonderful start to the jazz concert in that it was not unfamiliar to the crowd.
Waltz for Debby got me question why someone would write this kind of old and whom Debby
was sounding tune for someone he or she loved. It s really difficult for me to advocate this song to
anybody, for I lacked the depth of the other tunes through the entire evening and believed it was
boring. Ancient Memories was a piece that is wonderful. The tune was enjoyment and I loved
listening to the changes over and over again, although the tune had lots of repetition. The Jazz
Ensemble concert at Tarleton was an enjoyable evening full of intellectually exciting encounters of
music and excellent music that I wouldn t have listened to if not for this duty. Diversification is an
important lesson to learn when seeing music because all music has roots from a different music
genre and understanding this makes you more diversified as somebody.

Compare And Contrast The Populist Movement And Progressive...
Essay One Following the post Civil war, a new party arose that brought about the most significant
reformist political movement. The Populist Party, which was also known as the People s Party was
established in 1891 and only existed for a short period of time. The Populist movement was very
successful and brought about many remarkable changes in the United States. Another party that
was notably seen several years later following the decline of the Populist Party, was the
Progressive Party. It greatly differed the Populist Party, but stirred a mass movement in America s
society. Both parties are substantially known for legendary ideals, even though they support two
completely different platforms. The Populist Party began as a result of farmer

The Major General Command Post Received Report
The Major General s Command Post received report that his forward element near Fredericks
had spotted an armor column consisting of Abrams, Bradley s, M113s and M114s, as well as
several armored Humvees. There was also a follow on convoy behind that one with several M
35 2.5 ton trucks pulling 155mm field pieces and troops. Where the hell did the armor come
from? MG Boney wondered. This was a real problem. The armor would wreak havoc through the
28th ID, there would be no happy endings here, and where did the hell did Magnus get armor?
Within twenty four hours the armor and accompanying soldiers and equipment had set up north
along the outskirts of Fredericks, where MG Boney planned to make his final stand. Then at 0300

Yann Trividic Research Paper
The person that first came to mind for this assignment is Yann Trividic. He s a former Miami
City Ballet principle dancer currently living in France as an Osteopath who loves surfing and
occasionally plays the violin. To me, Yann is one of my favourite dance teachers, my Osteopath
and an inspiration. He makes me want to be a better person and find personal satisfaction in
whatever and everything I choose to do. As a dancer his ballet career is especially impressive.
However, it s nothing in comparison to the amount he s learned and overcome for himself as a
person. On a physical level, he lives a very active lifestyle and eats really healthy. He has a lot of
knowledge on the human body and he puts into practice for himself as well as helping

Bruce Knauft and The Gebusi Religion
As anthropologist Bruce Knauft described, the Gebusi clan had words that described many
different aspects, examples included oil the Gebusi word for tomorrow and yesterday and owa for
grandparents and grandchildren, but the most defining one was kogwayay, a catchfall marker to
describe all of their cultural distinction. Because of kogwayay s branching terminology, kogwayay
is also the Gebusi s word for ethnicity, the identification with a cultural group because of shared
values customs and beliefs, while inversely excluded from different groups. One aspect that
contributes to the Gebusi s sense of kogwayay is religion. Through Knauft s book we see their
religious ways introduced and watch them change and adapt with the dynamics of cultural change
over time. As defined above, ethnicity is the shared customs, values and beliefs that the cultural
group shares that set them apart from other groups. The religion described within Knauft s
research is applicable to majority of those elements, making it a vital part of kogwayay. One of the
Gebusi s traditions is presented in the suicide description of chapter three. Dugawe, one of the men
of tribe, was found after hanging himself, and in Gebusi tradition the women massage the body and
cover themselves in the bodily fluids oozing from the decomposing body. While ethnocentrism may
come out in a majority of people, this is part of the Gebusi beliefs and customs that set them apart
from certain groups and bring individuals together.

The Apalachee Indians
The Apalachee were a group of farming Indians who inhabited Northwest Florida ever since around
one thousand A.D. The Apalachee were concentrated around the present day city of Tallahassee, the
capital of Florida. In this essay, the diet, traditions, family life, clothing, government, architecture
and more about the ApalacheeIndians will be explored. A precis of their timeline in the Florida
panhandle will also be examined.
The Apalachee had a diet made up of the things that they grew in their fields, hunted, and gathered.
Women were the gatherers and men were the hunters. The men hunted many animals in the area
including fish, deer, birds, and bears. Women gathered fruits and nuts for their families. As for

was not a wanted encounter. One man from the expedition, Alvar NГ№Г±ez Cabeza de Vaca,
wrote that once the men got in sight of Apalachen, [...] The men were not there at the time, but
soon, while we were walking about, they came and began to fight, shooting arrows at us. The
Apalachee warriors dominated Narvaez s men. Only four men from Narvaez s expedition
survived. Later, well known Spanish explorer, Hernando de Soto actually found the remnants of
Narvaez s camp. His expedition was also under continuous attack by the Apalachee. Both de Soto
and Narvaez s expeditions spread many unfamiliar European diseases to the Apalachee, which
actually killed some of them.
In 1656, Mission San Luis was established in modern day Tallahassee, after the Apalachee

Althusser And Critique Of Marxism Essay
Althusser and Critique Paper
Marxist philosopher Louis Althusser reoriented the study of Marxism in the 1960s and 1970s,
shifting it from a humanist interpretation to one structured around the philosophy of ideology and
the philosophy of science. The purpose of this reorientation revolved around the necessity to
ground an understanding of critique. By focusing on the notions of ideology and science,
Althusser can provide an accurate explanation for the revolutionary nature of Marx s thought,
specifically the creation of the science, dialectical materialism. This science, according to
Althusser, shows that the production of thought is historically determined and provides the basis
for all critique: as being able to discern mere ideas and historically determined ideologies from
true scientific knowledge. By understanding what is truly science and ideology, the proletariat can
correctly work to rectify the practices that impose a false ideology and work for a politics that is
not based on exploitation.
To understand Althusser s elucidation of Marx s Philosophy, and by extension his work on critique,
one has to specifically focus on the theory of Marxism as a science, or the unification of two
sciences, historical materialism and dialectic materialism. It is within the science of historical
materialism, or the science of history determined by modes of production, that one could
understand how ideologies are introduced and constantly reinforced. Modes of production, or the

Christine Castel Biography
Christine took up writing so she could support her family. Her father, Tommaso Di Benvenuto di
Pizzano, was an astrologer to Charles the Fifth, the king at the time. He was respected greatly by
Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but
they loved each other anyways. Etienne was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He
was part of the French court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne
and Christine had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in 1384 and
lived for eighty eight years. That is the only known child. One fateful day, Charles the fifth died,
and Christine s father lost his job. Not long after, Tommaso got sick and finally died. Just a few
months later, Christine s husband, Etienne, got the bubonic plague and died. Christine was so
devastated she wished she could just die. The thing was, Christine had to take care of her familyor

The first works Christine started to write were poems. Poems make up most of her writing.
Usually those poems were about Christine s long lost love, Etienne, but that was before she
realized how badly women were being treated. Remember, these were the Middle Ages; women
weren t even able to work back then. Women also (usually) had no form of education. Women were
even considered their husband s property. Christine started to criticize women s lack of rights in
her works. She believed strongly in gender equality and that women were strong, heroic, and brave.
Other than gender equality and love poems, she also wrote biographies and autobiographies. This
includes a biography about Charles the Fifth, which was very flattering and pleasing, and her
autobiography, which talks about her thoughts on women. This was written to cease the continued
debate about women. Christine was the original advocate for women s

The Foxhole Court, By Writer Nora Sakavic Essay
University, he said quietly. It sounded like a dream; it tasted like damnation . This quote is stated in
the book The Foxhole Court by Writer Nora Sakavic. As we know, university is the first formal step
of planning for future destination, analysis all the opportunities, choosing best option, applying
strategies for moving forward. Career orientation or career development process may start from
here. Leading a healthy, solvent and transparent economic life a perfect career should be selected.
By analyzing political economic factors behind such as values in present market demand, how
domestic and international interact with the matter, consistency with developing economy,
financial advancement, market orientation one can choose one s future. Without scrutinizing these

Words To Describe Louisiana
How do you describe Louisiana? That is a hard one because Louisiana is like no other state.
Louisiana became a state on April 30, 1812. Louisiana is 51,843 square miles. The state is divided
into north and south Louisiana, but throughout the state the culture is the same. The religion,
music, people, areas, food, and language are all very unique to Louisiana.
Within Louisiana there are several different religions. Many people from Louisiana are descendants
of Europeans and practice Catholicism (Louisiana Creole Culture). According to a study done in
2010, the top five denominations of religion in Louisiana in this order are: Catholic, Southern
Baptist, non denomination, United Methodist, and National Baptist convention(Louisiana Religion

Anytime you go to someone s house they will fix you some kind of food. Both Creole and Cajun
cooking developed in Southern Louisiana but popular in Northern Louisiana too. According to
the article Ducote wrote, Creole cooking is city food and Cajun cooking is country food. Both
styles use fresh local food, but the preparation is different. Cajun and Creole cuisine is popular
throughout to the State of Louisiana. Cajun cooking tends to be more robust and has more spice
to it. A lot of Cajuns live off the land and use the natural resources they have in order to survive.
They live in the bayou and swamps were fish, shellfish, and wild game are all over the place. The
Cajuns did not try to replicate European dishes since they did not have access to the exotic
spices and other hard to find ingredients that made up the more complex European dishes. Cajun
food was shaped by were they settled. Cajun cooking is simple and most of the dishes can be
cooked all in one pot. They had an abundance of wild game, seafood, wild vegetables and herbs
in order to make their dishes. Creole cuisine comes from French, Spanish, African, Native
American, and Caribbean influences (Louisiana Creole Culture). Creole cooking is all about
sauces and the sauces are creamy and full of favors with use of herbs and spices. Creole food
represents Louisiana s flair and imagination. Unlike the Cajuns, the Creole people were the
upper class and felt they needed to recreate European dishes in order to be happy. Creole cooking
is more complex than Cajun. Unlike Cajun cooking, Creole cooking cooks all the ingredients
separately and serves them. They were able to afford rare spices and other foods from Europe that
were not readily found in Louisiana. Creole food is always full flavored, with generous components
of butter, pepper, salt and herbs. Creole cooking uses celery, bell pepper, and onions, cooked in a
roux as a starting point for a lot of Creole dishes

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Analysis

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a collection of conditions that affect the cognitive, physical, and
motor development and abilities of children. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is caused by a teratogen,
such as alcohol or illicit drugs, crossing through the mother s blood to the developing fetus (Center

Socrates Impact On Greek Civilization
The Greek civilization had a magnificent influence in history. Scientific methods, the Latin
alphabet, extravagant art, democracy and philosophy were all created during this era. Philosophy
brought new ideas and ways of thinking. Although, several people had a major impact on Greek
civilization Socrates, Alexander of Macedon and Solon all influenced the way we live today.
Socrates, born in Athens in the 5th century BCE, marks a watershed in ancient Greek philosophy.
Compared to the others he had the greatest impact on Greek civilization. Socrates challenged and
question the norm. He taught that no one desires what is bad, and so if anyone does something that
truly is bad, it must be unwillingly or out of ignorance; consequently, all virtue

Persuasive Essay On Snow Leopards
Endangered species is a quandary to an ecosystem in an environment. The snow leopard is an
animal that has been endangered since 1972. They are endangered for the most common reasons
such as being hunted for fur but also for more effective reasons for the peopleof the snow leopard s
habitat, central Asia. The snow leopardis at an advantage of being at thetop of the food chain, but
their food source is beginning to take a toll as that is being hunted as well. Regardless of
endangering factors to the snow leopard, any contingencies have to becontemplated to save what s
left of the population. The snow leopard is a pantherauncia whose conservation status is
endangered. Therationale for this predicament is that it is quite conventional for hunters in central
Asia to hunt these animals for their fur. Huntingfor fur is the most frequent vindication for a
species to go endangered; however, now leopards have another reason to be hunted and that is
for their organs, bones, and skin. These circumstances are more advantageous for Asian
medicines.Hunting is not only a concern for the snow leopard but also to livestock such as
sheep and goats. However, these hunts are a key component to snow leopards because these
animals are what snow leopards prey on. With a viable food source being withdrawn from a
habitat, the snow leopards are found to be desperate for a food source. Snow leopards are in an
onerous condition if the hunts continue and their food source is being extracted. The
endangerment of the snow leopard not only lies on the foundation of excessive hunts and food
removal but also in the uncontrollable ecosystem transformations. Snow leopards are found in the
mountainous terrain of central Asia. Normally they live 3,000 and 5,400 meters aloft sea level.
However, if the latitude is lower, for say 1,000 meters above sea level then climates are instituted
to be cold and dry letting a limited amount of vegetation, grass or shrubs, to grow, which only grow
in vertiginous inclinations of the mountains. Snow leopards will habitually appoint subdued
terrains, escarpments, or ravines. This ecosystem may be at a lost, though, as global climate

The Effects Of Overpopulation On Human Population

Paging Captain Planet
We need a major reduction in human population, stat! Ok, maybe that s not a viable solution, but
it does beg the question; How many people does it take to break the world? Currently, there are a
little over 7 billion people on the planet and there is already some cause for concern.
Overpopulation, extreme weather, and a drought that s causing a water shortage. Is the abundance
of humans the cause or is it simply happening because it can?
Overpopulation can cause many issues for the inhabitants of the affected area as well as the
planet. With more people comes more use of the planet s resources. More wood for houses means
less trees for the absorption of carbon dioxide and other harmful gasses. More cars to meet the
demand of the people means more output of carbon monoxide and the depletion of the ozone layer
that protects the planet from solar radiation. More solar radiation means climate shifts that affect
weather patterns, agriculture, and the geographical composition of the planet. Take California for
instance, the state is currently in an unprecedented drought that is threatening the state s water
supply. Is global warming the culprit? Yes and no. The drought itself may be the effect of something
else because droughts have happened outside of human interference but the increasing temperatures
certainly isn t helping the situation. As stated in Anthropogenic warming has increased

Romance in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Essay
Romance in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley The Romantic Movement in England, and
subsequently in America, occurred in the late 18th to the early 19th centuries. In her novel
Frankenstein, Mary Shelley conforms to many literary trends that were used by the romantics.
One literary trend of the romantic era is for the story to be set in a very remote or foreign place.
Possibly, the purpose of having a story set in a foreign place was to create a realm that is entirely
different from the known world of the reader. After all, for a monster in an apartment in the
middle of London would hardly have been believable. Above all, the Romantic writer s objective
was to create new and/or different worlds so that their readers would... Show more content on

However, since Victor bases his creation on a situation such as death is can also be ruled gothic.
After the death of his mother Victor begins his voyage to find himself. He is on his way to the
great unknown, experiencing something new, and possibly trying something that has never
been tried before. It can also be viewed as romantic because this departure from his mother may
have leaded him to find life somewhere else. Victor started to believe that he could bring people
back from the grave. Playing with nature in such a way would make him play the role of God.
Victor felt that he had no true friends, the only relief he had of expressing his feeling was
through letters to Elizabeth. He desperately tries to befriend members of society, but utterly fails
at each attempt. Both his mother s absence and his loneliness may have leaded him to create his
creature. Male dominancy is a huge characteristic of gothic work done in the 18th and 19th
centuries; Shelly exemplifies this in many ways. After the death of his mother, a man now leads
Victor s house. Victor goes off to an all male school where he is surrounded my nothing but
males. Victor became so self absorbed into his project that he seem to forget all that was important
to him. As he gets further into the making of his monster he Herrera 3 cuts off all ties even with

What Is The Meaning Of Grace
5.3.1THE ETERNAL LOVE OF GOD
When we look at the gift of our redemption, we realise how great God s love is us. The entire
heaven came down in the Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. It is a gift without
measure. It is the eternal love of God, given to man with full measure. There is nothing that can be
equalled to that gift. Grace is the love that is called agape in Greek, which is the unmerited favour
or unconditional love from God our father. Lowe says: Grace is such a many sided word that to
define it becomes extremely difficult (1968: 19). Perhaps it is the everlasting and purposeful love
of God.
If we one look up the meaning of grace in the Old Testament, we might be confused because grace
has a different meaning in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How deep into sin or pain can we sink that God s hand cannot reach? God s presence is wherever
we are. His own son died on the cross, but God did not prevent it. If God had prevented His Son s
death, our salvation could not have been complete. Jesus had to die so that our redemption may be
complete. What kind of love is this that left the angels tongue tied and the Devil baffled? This is
the kind of God s amazing love that cannot be changed no matter what! We will have eternity to
study this love, yes eternity.
5.3.3THE CROSS AS THE CENTRE OF REDEEMING GRACE AND LOVE
Christology would not make sense without reconciliation and the shame of the cross that
brought life eternal. The cross made redemption through the blood of Jesus available to all men
and women who would come to Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. Deuteronomy talks of:
The curse of the law (21:22 23). And in Galatians, Paul talks of: Cursed is everyone that hangeth
on a tree (3:13). The cross was a shame to the Roman family as well as the Jewish family whose
son or daughter had been hanged on the cross. Because of his love, Jesus decided to bear our
shame and our death.
Paul talked greatly about the death and the resurrection of Jesus. Lowe says the following about

Hollywood Sexism
Power in Hollywood
Women are more than 50 percent of the population in America. Everyday woman face sexism but,
Hollywood in particular has many cases of misogynism. Despite Hollywood projecting
progressive ideas they severely lack in the sexism part. Misogynist portrayal of women in
Hollywood results from men having the power in Hollywood.
Women are a low percent of those behind the camera. In 2014, a whopping 85 percent of films had
no female directors, 80 percent had no female writers, and one third lacked female producers,
according to a San Diego State University study (Davidson). How can there be strong women
characters if there are not that many women working behind the scenes? With the lack of
women behind the camera, the roles women play are often degrading and sexist. Women are
often portrayed in service jobs such as waitresses instead of in leadership roles. In the top 500
films from 2007 2012, 28.8 percent of women wore sexually revealing clothes while men only
accounted for 7 percent (IndieWire). TV and movies teach girls from a young age that they are
meant to be a wife or homemaker and not much else. It is hard to dream to be a doctor or a CEO
of a big company if you do not see it when you turn on the TV. And it is not that women are not
qualified to work behind the camera, they are just not given the chance. It is hard to change your
portrayal in film and TV if you are not the one writing the characters or directing.

Support Group Reflection
Translating What I learned In the grief support group I co lead with a Licensed Professional
Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and supervised by a Master of Social Work I learned how to
facilitate a meeting. The LPCC taught me the person centered approach and the social worker
taught me to monitor client s progression of goals. She allowed me to take lead, to link members
together by similarities they share, and to give members homework. The LPCC believed in self
disclosure, she demonstrated this for me in a fantastic manner the social worker I was with did
as well. Teaching me that it is great to self disclose when appropriate and when it will benefit the
progression of the group or for them to feel comfortable trusting the leader. In my group sessions
I did not deem self disclosure appropriate to use. How I will translate this is to be aware of my
clients, to ask them what goals they hope to achieve, and for them to keep journals of progress. I
will create a safe atmosphere for clients to speak, provide affirmation, and help clients set and
maintain goals.
Evolution of Grief Support Group The grief support group I co led was an open group. This led

school. So, my father didn t punish me that night. However, Saturday morning he woke me up and
made sure I attended the three hour basketball practice at school. I learned my lesson not to get
drunk. Also, my parents assigned chores around the house to teach me the value of good work

Literary Uses Of Hyperbole In Go Ask Alice
Hyperbole: A hyperbole is an exaggerated statement or claim not meant to be taken literally. In
Go Ask Alice, the author uses this literary device effectively by using the exaggeration to
illustrate how the character is feeling. Throughout a lot of the book, she is feeling very sad and
overwhelmed. In the very beginning of the book, she says, And now the whole world is cold and
gray and unfeeling. This is an exaggeration because the whole world isn t literally cold and gray,
but that is how she is seeing it. As the reader, I can get a better understanding of her feelings by her
exaggerations.
Details (selection of detail): Having detail in your writing is very important and can make the
difference in the piece of literature. Detail can help the reader have a better understanding of what
they are reading. On page 134, the author writes, It s a good thing most people bleed on the inside
or this would be a gory, blood smeared Earth. Anonymous is explaining her feelings about the
world around her using immense detail. As the reader, I can have a better idea of how she is
seeing and describing her world. Simile: A simile is a figure of speech that compares of two things
that are different than each other in order to make a description of something more prominent. An
example of when this is used in the book is when it says, Well, like oil and water, I can t quite

Environmental Justice And Its Effects On The Environment
Environmental Justice
Living in a highly industrialized world that is ruled by capitalism, the concern for the environment
often takes a back seat. Individuals or companies nowadays prioritize achieving optimal profit
without putting into mind what their respective actions or productions may have an effect on the
environment. They do not realize how important the role of our environment plays in the quality
of human life. We can say that a good environment leads to a better quality life, while a bad
environment could lead to a harmful and unproductive life. Now, it becomes unfair and unjust
when the risks and costs of a company affect a certain group of people and on the opposite side of
the spectrum another group of individuals enjoy the benefits without costs. The individuals that are
affected badly are usually from Third WorldCountries where the distribution of risk and costs are
not even (Low and Gleeson 1999). This is where Environmental Justice comes in. Environmental
Justice mainly concerns the welfare of human beings (Low and Gleeson 1999). Talking about cities
where capitalism surges from, it has been argued that these cities are unfairly structured (Low and
Gleeson 1999). Basically, what this is saying is that the wealthier you are, the better or cleaner the
environment. On the other hand, if you are poor, then the environment around you will have more
health risks. This kind of injustice or disparity is what adds fuel to the fire of environmental justice.

Corruption In On The Waterfront
The corruption on the waterfront is the result of a leaderless group who don t know their own
power. Do you agree?
Kazan s 1954 film On the Waterfront highlights how the corruption on the waterfront is due to the
union exploiting their power. Kazan shows how characters in the film are scared to speak out
against the corruption on the docks, as the union instils fear to all workers. The unions is
controlled by Johnny Friendly who is seen as the leader, who controls everyone on the New Jersey
docks. Kazan also integrates the use of symbols and metaphors to show the extent of the union
power and authority.

Snow Imagery in “Desert Places” and “Stopping by Woods

Robert Frost (1874 1963). Robert Frost was the most widely admired and highly honoured
American poet of the 20th century (Eiermann). Robert Frost was raised in rural New England
where he grew a fond love for the outdoors and nature (Merriman). His love with nature elements
has probably overwhelmed him so much that it has been reflected upon in many of his poems such
as The Tuft of Flowers, Reluctance, and Birches. One of the nature imageries that have been used
frequently by Robert Frostis the snow imagery. Although the snow imagery appears in many
other poems by Frost we will be dealing with the poems Desert Places and Stopping by Woods on

It is also because of the mysteriousness of the woods being lovely, dark, and deep (Frost,
Stopping., line 13) that makes the speaker mesmerized. The snow in this poem gave the speaker
calmness by the woods and gives the poem the mood of welcome and mysteriousness whereas in
Desert Places the snow establishes the mood of loneliness and emptiness. Therefore, if the snow
imagery made the mood of the poems different, then evidently the snow imagery will make the
themes of the two poems different as well.
From the different manipulations of the snow imagery on the moods in Desert Places and
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening it made their themes distinctly different from each other.
The snow that surrounded the speaker in Desert Places made the field look like an open, empty,
lonely place. It is from the surroundings that the speaker creates his own loneliness. From this, it is
clear that the speaker s loneliness inside himself/ herself overwhelms them so much that it causes
their outlook to be of only loneliness. So in Desert Places the theme is that the loneliness that is
created from within of the speaker causes him/her to realize or see the loneliness that is inside them
and also the loneliness that surrounds them, which is nature.

Why Is Andrew Carnegie A Hero
Andrew Carnegie was a hero amongst a few people but it can be debatable towards others.
Andrew Carnegie was born in November 1835, in the attic of a weaver s cottage in Dunfermline,
Scotland. While he was growing up, his family was poor, so his family decided to move to the
United States, he started working at the age of twelve. As he got older he got promoted into
different positions and because of this he was able to build up his own business and bought out his
competition. Could Andrew Carnegiebe considered a hero? A hero is a person that does something

Shinn s point is to see the increase and decrease of production costs and selling prices. This
evidence helps explain why Carnegie was not a hero because Shinn is only talking about the
production price and the selling cost of steel rails. For example, in The Saturday Globe it
illustrates how Carnegie had Double Role (The Saturday Globe, 1892). In making this
comment, the Saturday Globe is trying to say that Carnegie was playing two roles because he
could give away money and still made notices about wages being reduced. This demonstrates
how he wasn t a hero because he would reduce the wages of his employees to give that away.
Money was one of the many reasons why Carnegie wasn t a hero because of how he took away
wages from his employees to give it away. Although money was important to him, he still felt that
he needed to donate it to the public.
The third area in which Carnegie wasn t a hero was social. Garland states, Everywhere where
grimy men with sallow and lean faces (Garland, 1894). Garland is trying to prove the difference
between two people s payments. This doesn t help answer the question of Carnegie being a hero
because it s talking about people s pay. According to Carnegie, Why should men leave great
fortunes to their children (Carnegie,1889). Carnegie is saying that rich man that leave money

The Working For A Major Cola Company
We were assigned the ultimate task of finding the phosphoric acid in several rival sodas for this
experiment but to get there it required many steps to be taken in advance. As we were a working
for a major cola company it was crucial that we were aware of how to use the technology and
then more importantly the relationships between all the findings we made through numerous
experiments. Our main source of technology was a spectrophotometer so in order to move
forward in finding anything out about the colas we had to learn how to use this Spec 20. After
looking at the machine and doing research we determined that by using the Spec 20 we would be
able to get values of both absorbance and % Transmittance for a solution. The Spec 20 is able to
give these values by shining a lightbeam through a solution and measuring the intensity before and
after it has passed through the solution.1 After doing research we were able to put the machine to
use in order to get first hand experience of how to use the machine and to get an understanding of
the relationships between results present by the spectrophotometer. Food coloring was the subject
of our first tests with the Spec 20 and our group choose the colors red and blue. Along with the
food coloring we would also be running Potassium Permanganatethrough the machine. By sending
light beams of different wavelengths through the solutions we were able to find the absorbance of
each solution shown in Table 1 as well as the relationship

The Chinese Language
Upon thinking of the Chinese Language most individuals who are not already familiar with the
language or Chinese culture will be thinking about the world s most commonly spoken language
which is Mandarin. Mandarin is the languages spoken and written by the han Chinese who
constitute more than 90% of the country s populations (Language and Dialects). So, it is
reasonable that many people have a more limited knowledge on this particular subject. However, the
history of the languages of Chinais one of great significance extending far beyond just Mandarin.
There is a great history that accompanies the languages in China. When discussing the languages in
China one has to keep in mind that it is not just the spoken languages at play here. While the
spoken languages are very important, in a way the written language is much more essential. This
written language can be broken up into two parts, the characters (汉еђпјќhanzi) and then pinyin;
which is how the characters are pronounced. The verbal languages spread across China is one of
diversity, the dialectal variances between areas within China is amazing. The history surrounding
the spoken languages in China is also rather remarkable. When a republic was declared in 1912,
there was no common spoken language in China. Yes. Imperial officials had communicated in
tongue used by the elites in Beijing. But the rest of the vast country was linguistically

Pure Evil In A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah
The human behavior is one that will haunt humanity forever. A Long Way Gone, written by
Ishmael Beah, is an original non fiction story based on Ishmael s personal experiences in warfare.
But, shockingly, he witnessed warfare from the small eyes of his teenage years. Having to
experience one of the worst things in history, at such a young age, is terrible. War, in this case or in
any case, relates to both human conditionand human nature. Human conditions, in short, are things
that that defines the human existence (birth, death, etc.) Human nature, close to human conditions,
are how humans act naturally to their environment and others. The theme of A Long Way Gone
ties strongly with both of these with a passion. It describes war as an art, with human condition as
a canvas and human nature to paint in the fine details. The question asked is what Ishmael Beah s
experience tells us about the meaning of the human being, and to answer we have to poke at some
topics that we ve covered. The answers to the sole question include the hypothetical existence of
pure evil, the important keys of human social life, and how war affects one s own mind.
In the attempt to comprehend the meaning of being human, it s important to first understand what
it must mean to be pure evil. If we can know what pure evil is, we can understand the conditions
that brought Ishmael to do such horrid things himself. In several chapters of the book, Ishmael goes
through the torture of the militia known as the

Knights owed military service to their lord or upper class leader. A vassal in the Middle Ages was
any person who commended themselves to someone of a higher social class ranking and was
given land or use of land in a feudal relationship (Jovinelly and Netelkos 7). Once a man became
a knight, he was bound to set obligations to his lord (which included military service in wartime
and peacetime) (Nardo 32). In peacetime, the knights usually lived in the castles they guarded
(Nardo 32). But in wartime, they provided horses and supplies at his own expense and served
sixty or more days of military service (Nardo 32). This code of conduct or action was known as
chivalry (King 35). The word chivalry comes from the French word, chevalier, meaning
horseman (King 36). The term was used to indicate the customs and ideals of knighthood (King
36). In return of the vassal s service, the lord would give him a fief. The feudal relationship
between a lord and his vassal was established by the ceremony of homage (King 28). During this
ceremony, the knight would receive a fief from the lord (King 28). A fief was an estate of land
that usually included houses and tools (King 28). But in the case of a vassal, the lord would also
offer his knights armor, horses, nice clothing, a home in the castle, and sometimes a small piece of
land (Biel 16). These gifts were called a precarium

An Analysis Of Medea And The King Of Corinth
Throughout the play, Medea, Medea proves that knowledge can destroy. She is surrounded by
powerful men, but uses her intelligence as her weapon to get what she wants: revenge on Jason, her
husband. She shows that physical power may not be the ultimate power that one may have, but that
intellectual power can destroy what one may hold close to them. In the play, Kreon, the king of
Corinth, holds his children to a higher importance than his country; Jason, Medeas husband, values
his children and their status in society; and Aigeus, shows that having children would bring him
great happiness. Medea is able to figure out what is most important to these three men to
manipulate and cause revenge on Jason, who betrayed his vows to Medea. This eventually
causes the murder of royalty as well as Jason and Medea s sons. Little does Jason know that the
revenge Medea takes on him is total, as his sons, which are his legacy, are dead. Also, no one

Strong leaders require the character trait of fairness as it shows equal treatment and respect of
different opinions, and avoids many conflicts. Mackenzie King demonstrated fairness with the
English and French speakers in Canada to unite Canada as one, and to avoid conflicts. For
example, when King was first elected in 1921, his major goal was to unite all Canadians, mainly
focusing on Protestants and Catholics. A month prior to being elected, King wrote in his diary; A
United Canada I made the first consideration...I want farmers, labour, soldiers, business and
professions represented, and balance between Protestants, and Catholics. This demonstrates the
fairness Mackenzie King shows towards all labour workers and professions as well as both
Anglophones and Francophones, even before getting elected. His first consideration is a balance
between Protestants and Catholics , which displays the significance fairness has in King s eyes,
as it shows that King s first priority is the fairness between the two groups. Specifically,
Mackenzie King demonstrates his fairness with French and English during the Conscription Crisis
of 1944. To obtain the support from the French, King had pledged The present government

Arrowmk Case Study
I. Introduction
Arrowmark Vending has the contract to supply pizza at football games for a university. The
operations manager, Tom Kealey, faces the challenge of determining how many pizzas to make
available at the games.
We have been provided with demand distributions for pizza based on past experience and know
that Tom will only supply plain cheese and pepperoni and cheese combo pizzas. We also know that
there is a fixed cost of
$1,000 allocated equally between the two types of pizzas, and that the costs to make plain cheese
pizza and pepperoni and cheese pizza are $4.50 and $5.00 respectively. Both pizzas sell for $9.00
and unsold pizzas have no value. The purpose of this report is to provide Tom with some
information regarding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recommendation
If Kealey wants to achieve the highest expected profit from pizza sales at the game, he should
produce
500 cheese pizzas and 500 pepperoni and cheese pizzas. Looking at the tables, we know this is the
best option because we see the highest expected profit of $1,075 associated with this production
level for cheese pizza and
$1,140 in profit for pepperoni and cheese pizza. This number takes into account the probabilities at
each demand level, so we can be reasonably assured that this is an accurate

The Annexation Of Tibet
On September 21st 1987 the Dalai Lama gave a speech to the U.S. Congressional Human Rights
Caucus. In the speech he claimed though Tibetans lost their freedom, under international law Tibet
today is still an independent state under illegal occupation. In 1950 the People s Republic of China
occupied the territory of Tibet claiming it was its right. For this reason, there has been an ongoing
debate between China, Tibet and the rest of the world about the question if Tibet has the right to
self determination. The annexation of Tibet by China has an impact on the Tibetans in several ways.
This paper will look at the impact of the Chinese occupation. The question that will be researched
is: What effect does the idea of self determination have

Economical Monday Marketing Strategy
It s only shallow people who do not judge the world by appearances. The mystery of the world is
the visible, not the invisible.
Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
This quotation by one of the greatest writer and thinker of the twentieth century nicely illustrates
the topic which is going to be discussed in this paper; the notions that underlie and has triggered the
enormous international success and which at the same time threatens such popularity of Cheap
Monday the Swedish fashion brand.
Cheap Monday had probably made its widest international depute on the 19th of September, 2007
when Serena van der Woodsen portrayed by Blake Lively was arriving at Grand Central station in
the sitcom Gossip Girl,. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making decisions during consuptions and having preferances in relation to brands consumers
constantly highlight their individual freedom and make a statement with the actual act of
purchasing (Elliott and Wattanasuwan, 1998). Having had the opportunity to search the web for
information on Cheap Monday I have gained the knowledge of online Cheap Monday
communities (Facebook for instance), where people with the same common interest and values can
meet to share and maintain the symbolic meanings relating the brand while creating a platform for
discussion, or dialogue similar to the old cafe houses that were the melting pot of intellectual
challenges in Baudelaire s Paris. The importance of these platforms is indubitable as it is
elaborately discussed in more detail: In order for the meaning of brands to become fully concrete,
the mediated meaning derived from advertising and promotion must be negotiated with the lived
experience of purchase and usage, and particularly for brands with social symbolic positioning
strategies these meanings must be validated through discursive elaboration in a social context
(Elliott and Wattanasuwan, 1998).
Apparently, the worshipers of Cheap Monday had made the brand so big that it soon attracted the
Swedish fashion colossus H M. In the spring of 2008 HM acquired 60% of shares in Cheap

The Separation Process Of Naphthalene And Benzoic Acid
Naphthalene and benzoic acid are two compounds studied in this experiment. Sodium benzoate is
also an important substance involved in the separation process. The separation technique used to
extract the different compounds of a heterogeneous mixture is based on solubility and density.
Regarding naphthalene and benzoic acid, their chemical properties differ from one another
(Separation 1). The detailed separation process of naphthalene and benzoic acid, found in a mixture,
follows. First of, when mixed together, benzoic acid and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) react and
produce sodium benzoate, water and carbon dioxide (Separation 2).
Water has a particular density and naphthalene, as well as benzoic acid, are insoluble in water.
Regarding naphthalene, it does not react with sodium bicarbonate, but it dissolves in ether ()
(Separation 2). Thus, by adding sodium bicarbonate and ether to the benzoic acid naphthalene
mixture, one is left with immiscible aqueous sodium benzoate and naphthalene in ether solutions.
Furthermore, ether is less dense than water and so, an ether layer floats on water as the two
solvents are mixed (U of Missouri). Next, Pasteur pipettes are used to mix thoroughly the resulting
solution, so that the two distinct layers form into a centrifuge tube. As ether floats on water, it is
found at the top layer, whereas sodium benzoate, which contains the converted amount of benzoic
acid, is found in the water bottom layer of the centrifuge container ( Separation

Maria Montessori Curriculum Essay
The Montessori Curriculum Model Dina Fikeru, Evealin Cruz, Olga Cruz, Althea Robinson,
Talaya Thompson Montessori Curriculum 1.Underlying Philosophy Montessori education
curriculum is based on the philosophy of continuous development, love, caring and uniqueness.
In the Montessori classroom, every child is provided with unique opportunities to develop both
moral and cognitive skills in areas that motivate students (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if a child
loves construction, the teacher may provide construction materials such as small boxes, tapes
and superglue that is necessary for assembling the boxes together. This makes learning both
interactive and enjoyable. The role of significant adults such as teachers is to provide guidance
on what the child should do to realize his/her goals (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if the child is
defeated on how to assemble the boxes, the teacher should guide the child until the child has
fully mastered the task. 2.Historical Perspectives The history of Montessori s curriculum dates
back to 1906 when Maria Montessori founded the first Children s House by the name Casa dei
Bambini in Rome, Italy (Isaacs, 2015). It was in this children s house that Maria developed a keen
interest on how children develop their cognitive abilities and moral behavior. She realized that
every child possesses unique skills and talents that should not be generalized in a single classroom
(Ansari Winsler, 2014). In other words, Montessori

Virginia Woolf And Annie Dillard s Death Of A Moth
In both pieces from Virginia Woolf and Annie Dillard s Death of a Moth, the story revolves around
the death of a moth and the consequential depiction of death both authors has on the occurrence.
However, although both pieces share the same title, both authors had a completely different
interpretation of the death of a moth, especially regarding tone and style. That is to say, Woolf
gives us a view of death as honorable with subtle empathy, whereas Dillard pursues a more
introspective notion, relaying the reader that death is an inevitable event that ends without the
acceptance of what is to come.
To begin, one notable difference between the two authors perspective is that Woolf does not include
her immediate surroundings. She excludes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To clarify, the view of the event seemed to have different effects on respective writers as each writer
had a different interpretation of the moth. For instance, because Dillard is viewing the event
head on, her description is less sensitive and often quite animated. To illustrate, she describes the
burning moth as this moth essence, this spectacular skeleton, began to act as a wick. Perhaps,
the different locality did have different effects on respective writers. Because this influence in
tone and style is unequivocally depicted in Woolf s work as well. In fact, because of the lack of
closeness between the spectator and the event, Woolf s interpretation of the death of the moth is
rather indifferent and lacks any manner of empathy. Woolf s tone and diction are comparatively
speaking are more reverent and solemn, one particular example is when Woolf juxtaposes the
death of the moth as a soldier dying in battle with honor. Her writing is filled with fascination but
yet empty to a certain degree, describing death as an omniscient force that will eventually
overwhelm all living things. Perhaps, it is all caused by her locality and view of the site. To add on
from the concrete dissimilarities of both author s interpretations. Both pieces also have conflicting
moral and this can be derived from the fact that the pieces were written in different time periods and
two totally different authors. It is evident that both authors drew

How Does Huck Finn Show Morality
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Throughout the entire novel, The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, Huck shows two main traits or themes in the book. Huck shows loyalty to
Jim on their adventures. However, Huck also shows morality in chapters 25 to 31, something
we really did not see in the earlier chapters. In this essay I will give a brief summary of the
chapters, then an example or two of how Huck displays loyalty and morality. One example of
morality starts in the beginning of chapter 25 when Huck expressed how disgusted he was by the
duke and dauphin being so selfish and only trying to con everyone. Huck says, I never see
anything so disgusting (Twain, 193). The duke and dauphin are pretending to be the brothers of
Peter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Huck is not sure at this point if the coffin was looked in or not, he is not sure if the con men have
the money or not. Huck thought he would write a letter to Mary Jane telling her to dig up the
coffin after he leaves town. Another example of morality is Huck contemplating whether or not
he will tell Mary Jane where he hid the money. Says I, if it could stay where it is, all right;
because when we get down the river a hundred mile or two I could write back to Mary Jane , and
she could dig him up... (Twain, 210 211). The con artists end up selling the land and the slaves.
Huck is white, mind you. Huck knows how wrong slavery just naturally and he truly does have a
morally correct conscience. Mary Jane was also feeling very upset about splitting the salve
family, but Huck promises her in a few weeks they will unite again, knowing that the con men
will be caught by then. Huck eventually told Mary Jane the truth about the con men but asked her
to keep quiet until Jim could escape. Which shows Huck was staying very loyal to Jim. Huck
ended up writing Mary Jane a note where the money was. By the end of chapter 28 two men
showed up stating they were the real Harvey and William

Obesity Among African Americans Essay
Fried chicken, mash potatoes and collard greens mixed with fatback meat was my family s
favorite Sunday meal. Soul food, as it has been called, is valued by many African American
families. Given the worldwide obesity epidemic that appears to be affecting most ethnic groups,
there is an appreciation that the causes of obesity among African Americanfamilies and others must
lie in the fundamental aspects of the food supply (Capers, C et al. 2011). In my opinion, African
Americans in the United Sates are more likely to be obese because there is a large number of low
income families and many are uninsured. According to the Office of Minority Health, African
American women have the highest rates of being obese compared to other groups in... Show more

According to the World Health Organization some characteristics of obesity are abnormal or
excessive fat accumulation that may impair health, a body mass index over 30 which is the most
useful population level measure of obesity as it is the same for both sexes and for all ages of adults.
Policies and regulatory issues impacting obesity and access to care in the African American
population have been limited due to the lack of financial and governmental support. However,
public schools are required to have a mandatory physical activity class for students as an attempt
to increase children recreational activity. In addition, the talk of the nationwide health care was
an attempt to ensure the decrease of health disparities among the obese population. The
government has provided financial support to some low income families by a program called
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families also known as TANF or food stamps. According to
the Department of Social Services he TANF program provides eligible families with a monthly
cash payment to meet their basic needs. For a child to be eligible he must be: under age 18, or if
18, will graduate from high school before age 19, going to school regularly if he is between the
ages of five and 18, living with a parent or other relative and a U.S. citizen or an eligible
immigrant. The Code of Virginia, В§63.1, requires that the TANF program be administered in

Comparing Emotion In As She s Walking Away And If I Told You
Country music is generally simple in form and harmony, typified by romantic or melancholy
ballads, with lyrics that tell a memorable story. Songs can tell similar stories of internal struggle as
to whether or not to speak from the heart, but can also differ completely in use of emotion.
Through imagery and repetition, the listener can relate to the main message and have a deeper
understanding of the theme. Despite their emotional and lyrical differences, As She s Walking
Away by Zac Brown
Band and If I Told You by Darius Rucker, both songs portray a lack of courage and similar
insecurities in asking the question, What if? .

Though the same What if? theme is represented in As She s Walking Away, the lyrics give
imagery of the internal struggle of being too shy to speak from his heart. A whimsical melody
plays as his foolish pride and fear of falling on his face have him falling in love with the girl that he
has never spoken to
as she s walking away .
In both songs, the repetition of the lyrics draws the listener s attention to particular words and
phrases. In the melancholy ballad, If I Told You, Rucker repeats the lines, If I told you all the
stupid things I ve done, I d blamed on being young, but I was old enough to know, I know , If I
told you the mess I can be when there s no one there to see and could you look the other way
cause you love me anyway . The soulful singer is emphasizing with raw emotions, the fear of
baring one s soul to the person they love and unknowing how they will react to it. In the romantic
song, As She s Walking Away,
Brown repeats the lines, My heart won t tell my mind to tell my mouth what it should say , You

Obasan and Poh-Poh Essay
Oftentimes when reading fictional texts with similar themes, readers will find themselves
encountering similar characters. In the realm of modern literature, elderly Asian women are often
portrayed with many similarities; they are seen as protective, caring people who possess great
wisdom. Ayako Nakane, also known as Obasan, the title character of Joy Kogawa s Obasan, and
the character Poh Poh in Wayson Choys novelThe Jade Peony, are very similar in this regard. Both
Obasan and Poh Poh drive forwards their respective narratives with their strong personalities. They
have each suffered through troublesome pasts and as a result have become very wise. Obasan and
Poh Poh share many similarities but they also have their differences. Both women... Show more

Even when her husband passes away, she does not break down into hysteria; she grieves quietly:
The language of her grief is silence... Over the years, silence within her small body has grown
large and powerful (Kogawa, 14). Despite her lack of words, Obasan is a source of love and
steadfast support for her niece Naomi and her nephew Stephen. When their parents disappear,
Obasan steps in, never hesitating to bear the weight of caring for the abandoned children. She
feeds them, clothes them, and ensures their well being under impossible circumstances. Her
commitment to them never falters, even when they neglect her. Stephen repeatedly treats Obasan
with impatience and rudeness. Regardless, Obasan constantly puts the needs of others before her
own. Her actions are aimed at making the people around her happy. Obasan does everything in
her power to ensure that her niece and nephew find a place for themselves in the world and Naomi
takes comfort in her gentleness and dependability. Despite her silence, Obasan is a focal point of
the narrative and at the center of the main character Naomi s life.
In Wayson Choy s The Jade Peony, Poh Poh is also a driving force of the narrative. The story is
separated into three segments; each segment tells a story from the perspective of a different
sibling. The siblings are Poh Poh s grandchildren. Poh Poh is a crucial element of all three stories.
She forms a bond with each child that helps them develop and she is a key

Different Roles Of Beowulf And The King Of The Geats
Beowulf is a tale of the mighty acts done by warriors and kings, and throughout the poem, the
traits that make up a good king and a good warrior are explored. Perhaps more importantly
though, those traits are contrasted. Similarly, this contrast finds itself at its peak when the titular
character, Beowulf, assumes the role of King of the Geats. His transition demonstrates that a
differing set of values accompanies each of his two roles. (Sparknotes) further showing how
deeply dissimilar the two roles are. Additionally, putting him into a leadership position higher than
he s ever been shows just how great he is at ruling people. However, it also shows his
shortcomings in being a King, compared to a warrior. Even though they are shown to posess a
number of similar qualities, warriors and kings prove to have inherently different functions in
society and while Beowulfembodies both roles at different times throughout the work, it is clear he
is a much better warriror than he is a king.
One of the major themes running throughout Beowulf, is good warriors and good kings;
particularly, what exactly constitutes a good warrior or king. As the tale goes on, you see the
answer to this question become increasingly apparent, and surprisingly, the traits posessed by a
good king are dramatically similar to those of a good warrior. In both cases, qualities of courage
and acute wisdom are strongly desired, and frequently found in the best of their kind. However,

Oh, Play that Thing and The Dead Republic by Roddy Doyle
In Roddy Doyle s series Oh, Play That Thing and The Dead Republic the world is shown to the
readers through the eyes of a wise fool, Henry Smart. The series includes a wide variety of
magical realism, and how Henry continues to fight social norms to get what he wants. The idea of
society vs. man and individualism takes a toll on Henry s pride by forcing him to jump from job to
job or from flat to flat that ultimately puts him in disarray. Each book s analysis should be in its
own category, but they have many identical ideas, themes, and characters that bring them together.
The elements of magical realism in a historical series, at first sight seem quite suitable. It is
generally agreed that the picaresque, with its humorous ideas on the social outcasts trying to endure
an aggressive environment, is a sensible move against the romanticize tendency of the plot. Magic
realism, with its limited interruption of mimetic rules, lends itself to a number of uses,
postcolonial being one of them. It introduces elements of grotesque moments that allow the
readers to sense the satirical potentials and it brings in metaphorical aspects to the plate. The
aspects of magical realism seem to play with the readers mind. The convention of picaresque
combined with magical realism builds a wider grotesque vision for the reader. It is not only the
space but also the characters, the main protagonist among them are shaped according to the
defamilliarising rules of this magical picaresque world.

  • 2. The Concert Hall, Raleigh, Concert, By Paul Randall And... The concert took place on November 4, 2016 in Meymandi Concert Hall, Raleigh. In concert, I had enjoyed a lot. Especially the Saxophone and a piano subsequently switched the tune of the tune as if they were dancing like two lovers. As the saxophone took the airs as well as the piano and other instruments within the ensemble were in accompaniment for the love of the tune the texture altered within the tune. The tempo, which was always steady appeared to get quicker like a pulse by the climax of the tune. It was also at this point the dynamics of the tune were increasingly becoming louder until all instruments met using a bag on top and then altered the dynamics again to a reasonable degree until the tune ended. Billy the Kid, arranged by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tune was hot and enthusiastic and shown dialogue without using any words. The ensemble played this piece by Cassia Lee supplied the drawn out conversation that sounded like twirling and dancing in the moonlight with the solo as well as steadiness. This tune reminded me of My Heart Will Go On in that a story is told of the instrumental nature of it, just as much as when the lyrics are being sung by Celine Dion. I found listening to this tune a rewarding experience, and it turned out to be a wonderful start to the jazz concert in that it was not unfamiliar to the crowd. Waltz for Debby got me question why someone would write this kind of old and whom Debby was sounding tune for someone he or she loved. It s really difficult for me to advocate this song to anybody, for I lacked the depth of the other tunes through the entire evening and believed it was boring. Ancient Memories was a piece that is wonderful. The tune was enjoyment and I loved listening to the changes over and over again, although the tune had lots of repetition. The Jazz Ensemble concert at Tarleton was an enjoyable evening full of intellectually exciting encounters of music and excellent music that I wouldn t have listened to if not for this duty. Diversification is an important lesson to learn when seeing music because all music has roots from a different music genre and understanding this makes you more diversified as somebody. • 3. Compare And Contrast The Populist Movement And Progressive... Essay One Following the post Civil war, a new party arose that brought about the most significant reformist political movement. The Populist Party, which was also known as the People s Party was established in 1891 and only existed for a short period of time. The Populist movement was very successful and brought about many remarkable changes in the United States. Another party that was notably seen several years later following the decline of the Populist Party, was the Progressive Party. It greatly differed the Populist Party, but stirred a mass movement in America s society. Both parties are substantially known for legendary ideals, even though they support two completely different platforms. The Populist Party began as a result of farmer ... • 4. The Major General Command Post Received Report The Major General s Command Post received report that his forward element near Fredericks had spotted an armor column consisting of Abrams, Bradley s, M113s and M114s, as well as several armored Humvees. There was also a follow on convoy behind that one with several M 35 2.5 ton trucks pulling 155mm field pieces and troops. Where the hell did the armor come from? MG Boney wondered. This was a real problem. The armor would wreak havoc through the 28th ID, there would be no happy endings here, and where did the hell did Magnus get armor? Within twenty four hours the armor and accompanying soldiers and equipment had set up north along the outskirts of Fredericks, where MG Boney planned to make his final stand. Then at 0300 MG Boney was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I wouldn t blame you; I wouldn t surrender to the bastard either, Sergeant Major Valliant replied. Don t get me wrong, I m happy as a chipmunk with a mouth full of nuts to see you, Sergeant Major Valliant said. So, I can t surrender and be taken back to D.C. to sit this one out? Major General Boney said smiling. I m sorry sir, nope. You re aware that Magnus is right on my tail don t you? Our asses are hanging in the wind and he can chop them off anytime he wants, even with your armor, and by the way where did you get it? 11th ACR. Out of Fort Irwin? Yup! How did it get here? C 17s. But before I do that, can you send runners out to your troops not to shoot the poor soldiers that will be dropping out of the sky in the next thirty minutes. • 5. Yann Trividic Research Paper The person that first came to mind for this assignment is Yann Trividic. He s a former Miami City Ballet principle dancer currently living in France as an Osteopath who loves surfing and occasionally plays the violin. To me, Yann is one of my favourite dance teachers, my Osteopath and an inspiration. He makes me want to be a better person and find personal satisfaction in whatever and everything I choose to do. As a dancer his ballet career is especially impressive. However, it s nothing in comparison to the amount he s learned and overcome for himself as a person. On a physical level, he lives a very active lifestyle and eats really healthy. He has a lot of knowledge on the human body and he puts into practice for himself as well as helping ... • 6. Bruce Knauft and The Gebusi Religion As anthropologist Bruce Knauft described, the Gebusi clan had words that described many different aspects, examples included oil the Gebusi word for tomorrow and yesterday and owa for grandparents and grandchildren, but the most defining one was kogwayay, a catchfall marker to describe all of their cultural distinction. Because of kogwayay s branching terminology, kogwayay is also the Gebusi s word for ethnicity, the identification with a cultural group because of shared values customs and beliefs, while inversely excluded from different groups. One aspect that contributes to the Gebusi s sense of kogwayay is religion. Through Knauft s book we see their religious ways introduced and watch them change and adapt with the dynamics of cultural change over time. As defined above, ethnicity is the shared customs, values and beliefs that the cultural group shares that set them apart from other groups. The religion described within Knauft s research is applicable to majority of those elements, making it a vital part of kogwayay. One of the Gebusi s traditions is presented in the suicide description of chapter three. Dugawe, one of the men of tribe, was found after hanging himself, and in Gebusi tradition the women massage the body and cover themselves in the bodily fluids oozing from the decomposing body. While ethnocentrism may come out in a majority of people, this is part of the Gebusi beliefs and customs that set them apart from certain groups and bring individuals together. ... • 8. Althusser And Critique Of Marxism Essay Althusser and Critique Paper Marxist philosopher Louis Althusser reoriented the study of Marxism in the 1960s and 1970s, shifting it from a humanist interpretation to one structured around the philosophy of ideology and the philosophy of science. The purpose of this reorientation revolved around the necessity to ground an understanding of critique. By focusing on the notions of ideology and science, Althusser can provide an accurate explanation for the revolutionary nature of Marx s thought, specifically the creation of the science, dialectical materialism. This science, according to Althusser, shows that the production of thought is historically determined and provides the basis for all critique: as being able to discern mere ideas and historically determined ideologies from true scientific knowledge. By understanding what is truly science and ideology, the proletariat can correctly work to rectify the practices that impose a false ideology and work for a politics that is not based on exploitation. To understand Althusser s elucidation of Marx s Philosophy, and by extension his work on critique, one has to specifically focus on the theory of Marxism as a science, or the unification of two sciences, historical materialism and dialectic materialism. It is within the science of historical materialism, or the science of history determined by modes of production, that one could understand how ideologies are introduced and constantly reinforced. Modes of production, or the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was respected greatly by Charles the Fifth. Christine was married at fifteen to Etienne du Castel. This was arranged, but they loved each other anyways. Etienne was a scholar, a nobleman, and the Duke of Guyenne. He was part of the French court, and supported Christine completely on her writing interests. Etienne and Christine had three children together, including Jean de Castel, who was born in 1384 and lived for eighty eight years. That is the only known child. One fateful day, Charles the fifth died, and Christine s father lost his job. Not long after, Tommaso got sick and finally died. Just a few months later, Christine s husband, Etienne, got the bubonic plague and died. Christine was so devastated she wished she could just die. Remember, these were the Middle Ages; women weren t even able to work back then. Women also (usually) had no form of education. Women were even considered their husband s property. Christine started to criticize women s lack of rights in her works. She believed strongly in gender equality and that women were strong, heroic, and brave. Other than gender equality and love poems, she also wrote biographies and autobiographies. This includes a biography about Charles the Fifth, which was very flattering and pleasing, and her autobiography, which talks about her thoughts on women. Louisiana is 51,843 square miles. The state is divided into north and south Louisiana, but throughout the state the culture is the same. The religion, music, people, areas, food, and language are all very unique to Louisiana. Within Louisiana there are several different religions. Both Creole and Cajun cooking developed in Southern Louisiana but popular in Northern Louisiana too. According to the article Ducote wrote, Creole cooking is city food and Cajun cooking is country food. Both styles use fresh local food, but the preparation is different. Cajun and Creole cuisine is popular throughout to the State of Louisiana. Cajun cooking tends to be more robust and has more spice to it. A lot of Cajuns live off the land and use the natural resources they have in order to survive. They live in the bayou and swamps were fish, shellfish, and wild game are all over the place. The Cajuns did not try to replicate European dishes since they did not have access to the exotic spices and other hard to find ingredients that made up the more complex European dishes. Cajun food was shaped by were they settled. Cajun cooking is simple and most of the dishes can be cooked all in one pot. They had an abundance of wild game, seafood, wild vegetables and herbs in order to make their dishes. Creole cuisine comes from French, Spanish, African, Native American, and Caribbean influences (Louisiana Creole Culture). Creole cooking is all about sauces and the sauces are creamy and full of favors with use of herbs and spices. Creole food represents Louisiana s flair and imagination. Unlike the Cajuns, the Creole people were the upper class and felt they needed to recreate European dishes in order to be happy. Creole cooking is more complex than Cajun. Unlike Cajun cooking, Creole cooking cooks all the ingredients separately and serves them. They were able to afford rare spices and other foods from Europe that were not readily found in Louisiana. • 14. Persuasive Essay On Snow Leopards Endangered species is a quandary to an ecosystem in an environment. The snow leopard is an animal that has been endangered since 1972. They are endangered for the most common reasons such as being hunted for fur but also for more effective reasons for the peopleof the snow leopard s habitat, central Asia. The snow leopardis at an advantage of being at thetop of the food chain, but their food source is beginning to take a toll as that is being hunted as well. Regardless of endangering factors to the snow leopard, any contingencies have to becontemplated to save what s left of the population. The snow leopard is a pantherauncia whose conservation status is endangered. Therationale for this predicament is that it is quite conventional for hunters in central Asia to hunt these animals for their fur. Huntingfor fur is the most frequent vindication for a species to go endangered; however, now leopards have another reason to be hunted and that is for their organs, bones, and skin. These circumstances are more advantageous for Asian medicines.Hunting is not only a concern for the snow leopard but also to livestock such as sheep and goats. However, these hunts are a key component to snow leopards because these animals are what snow leopards prey on. With a viable food source being withdrawn from a habitat, the snow leopards are found to be desperate for a food source. Snow leopards are in an onerous condition if the hunts continue and their food source is being extracted. The endangerment of the snow leopard not only lies on the foundation of excessive hunts and food removal but also in the uncontrollable ecosystem transformations. Snow leopards are found in the mountainous terrain of central Asia. Normally they live 3,000 and 5,400 meters aloft sea level. However, if the latitude is lower, for say 1,000 meters above sea level then climates are instituted to be cold and dry letting a limited amount of vegetation, grass or shrubs, to grow, which only grow in vertiginous inclinations of the mountains. Snow leopards will habitually appoint subdued terrains, escarpments, or ravines. This ecosystem may be at a lost, though, as global climate changes an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Effects Of Overpopulation On Human Population Erin Williams April 30, 2015 Anthropology Edwin Accomando Paging Captain Planet We need a major reduction in human population, stat! Ok, maybe that s not a viable solution, but it does beg the question; How many people does it take to break the world? Currently, there are a little over 7 billion people on the planet and there is already some cause for concern. Overpopulation, extreme weather, and a drought that s causing a water shortage. Is the abundance of humans the cause or is it simply happening because it can? Overpopulation can cause many issues for the inhabitants of the affected area as well as the planet. With more people comes more use of the planet s resources. More wood for houses means less trees for the absorption of carbon dioxide and other harmful gasses. More cars to meet the demand of the people means more output of carbon monoxide and the depletion of the ozone layer that protects the planet from solar radiation. More solar radiation means climate shifts that affect weather patterns, agriculture, and the geographical composition of the planet. Take California for instance, the state is currently in an unprecedented drought that is threatening the state s water supply. Is global warming the culprit? Yes and no. The drought itself may be the effect of something else because droughts have happened outside of human interference but the increasing temperatures certainly isn t helping the situation. As stated in Anthropogenic warming has increased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Romance in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Essay Romance in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley The Romantic Movement in England, and subsequently in America, occurred in the late 18th to the early 19th centuries. In her novel Frankenstein, Mary Shelley conforms to many literary trends that were used by the romantics. One literary trend of the romantic era is for the story to be set in a very remote or foreign place. Possibly, the purpose of having a story set in a foreign place was to create a realm that is entirely different from the known world of the reader. After all, for a monster in an apartment in the middle of London would hardly have been believable. There is nothing that can be equalled to that gift. Grace is the love that is called agape in Greek, which is the unmerited favour or unconditional love from God our father. • 25. Environmental Justice And Its Effects On The Environment Environmental Justice Living in a highly industrialized world that is ruled by capitalism, the concern for the environment often takes a back seat. Individuals or companies nowadays prioritize achieving optimal profit without putting into mind what their respective actions or productions may have an effect on the environment. They do not realize how important the role of our environment plays in the quality of human life. We can say that a good environment leads to a better quality life, while a bad environment could lead to a harmful and unproductive life. Now, it becomes unfair and unjust when the risks and costs of a company affect a certain group of people and on the opposite side of the spectrum another group of individuals enjoy the benefits without costs. The individuals that are affected badly are usually from Third WorldCountries where the distribution of risk and costs are not even (Low and Gleeson 1999). This is where Environmental Justice comes in. Environmental Justice mainly concerns the welfare of human beings (Low and Gleeson 1999). Talking about cities where capitalism surges from, it has been argued that these cities are unfairly structured (Low and Gleeson 1999). Basically, what this is saying is that the wealthier you are, the better or cleaner the environment. On the other hand, if you are poor, then the environment around you will have more health risks. As we were a working for a major cola company it was crucial that we were aware of how to use the technology and then more importantly the relationships between all the findings we made through numerous experiments. Our main source of technology was a spectrophotometer so in order to move forward in finding anything out about the colas we had to learn how to use this Spec 20. • 33. Called The Medicine Bag Rite Of Passage This is a essay about the rite of passage from the book called the medicine bag. This book is about a grandpa giving a medicine bag to his grandson because he knows that he will die soon. The rite of passage is that family will have your back in the hardest of times. The reason that i think that the rite of passageis correct is because when you need help the people you go the most that you trust is your family. If you needed help and you had to choose two people to yell for who are these people. I guessing one of the two is someone in your family. Just like when the grandpa needed help walking because he had been sitting for 8 hours on a bus his family came and helped him. And i also understand if you don t really like your parents but ... The Chinese Language Upon thinking of the Chinese Language most individuals who are not already familiar with the language or Chinese culture will be thinking about the world s most commonly spoken language which is Mandarin. Mandarin is the languages spoken and written by the han Chinese who constitute more than 90% of the country s populations (Language and Dialects). So, it is reasonable that many people have a more limited knowledge on this particular subject. However, the history of the languages of Chinais one of great significance extending far beyond just Mandarin. There is a great history that accompanies the languages in China. When discussing the languages in China one has to keep in mind that it is not just the spoken languages at play here. While the spoken languages are very important, in a way the written language is much more essential. This written language can be broken up into two parts, the characters (汉еђпјќhanzi) and then pinyin; which is how the characters are pronounced. The verbal languages spread across China is one of diversity, the dialectal variances between areas within China is amazing. The history surrounding the spoken languages in China is also rather remarkable. When a republic was declared in 1912, there was no common spoken language in China. Yes. A Long Way Gone, written by Ishmael Beah, is an original non fiction story based on Ishmael s personal experiences in warfare. But, shockingly, he witnessed warfare from the small eyes of his teenage years. Having to experience one of the worst things in history, at such a young age, is terrible. War, in this case or in any case, relates to both human conditionand human nature. Human conditions, in short, are things that that defines the human existence (birth, death, etc.) Human nature, close to human conditions, are how humans act naturally to their environment and others. The theme of A Long Way Gone ties strongly with both of these with a passion. It describes war as an art, with human condition as a canvas and human nature to paint in the fine details. The question asked is what Ishmael Beah s experience tells us about the meaning of the human being, and to answer we have to poke at some topics that we ve covered. The answers to the sole question include the hypothetical existence of pure evil, the important keys of human social life, and how war affects one s own mind. In the attempt to comprehend the meaning of being human, it s important to first understand what it must mean to be pure evil. If we can know what pure evil is, we can understand the conditions that brought Ishmael to do such horrid things himself. A vassal in the Middle Ages was any person who commended themselves to someone of a higher social class ranking and was given land or use of land in a feudal relationship (Jovinelly and Netelkos 7). Once a man became a knight, he was bound to set obligations to his lord (which included military service in wartime and peacetime) (Nardo 32). In peacetime, the knights usually lived in the castles they guarded (Nardo 32). But in wartime, they provided horses and supplies at his own expense and served sixty or more days of military service (Nardo 32). This code of conduct or action was known as chivalry (King 35). The word chivalry comes from the French word, chevalier, meaning horseman (King 36). The term was used to indicate the customs and ideals of knighthood (King 36). In return of the vassal s service, the lord would give him a fief. The feudal relationship between a lord and his vassal was established by the ceremony of homage (King 28). She is surrounded by powerful men, but uses her intelligence as her weapon to get what she wants: revenge on Jason, her husband. In the play, Kreon, the king of Corinth, holds his children to a higher importance than his country; Jason, Medeas husband, values his children and their status in society; and Aigeus, shows that having children would bring him great happiness. Medea is able to figure out what is most important to these three men to manipulate and cause revenge on Jason, who betrayed his vows to Medea. Sodium benzoate is also an important substance involved in the separation process. The separation technique used to extract the different compounds of a heterogeneous mixture is based on solubility and density. Regarding naphthalene and benzoic acid, their chemical properties differ from one another (Separation 1). The detailed separation process of naphthalene and benzoic acid, found in a mixture, follows. First of, when mixed together, benzoic acid and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) react and produce sodium benzoate, water and carbon dioxide (Separation 2). Water has a particular density and naphthalene, as well as benzoic acid, are insoluble in water. Regarding naphthalene, it does not react with sodium bicarbonate, but it dissolves in ether () (Separation 2). Thus, by adding sodium bicarbonate and ether to the benzoic acid naphthalene mixture, one is left with immiscible aqueous sodium benzoate and naphthalene in ether solutions. Furthermore, ether is less dense than water and so, an ether layer floats on water as the two solvents are mixed (U of Missouri). Next, Pasteur pipettes are used to mix thoroughly the resulting solution, so that the two distinct layers form into a centrifuge tube. As ether floats on water, it is found at the top layer, whereas sodium benzoate, which contains the converted amount of benzoic acid, is found in the water bottom layer of the centrifuge container ( Separation ... Maria Montessori Curriculum Essay The Montessori Curriculum Model Dina Fikeru, Evealin Cruz, Olga Cruz, Althea Robinson, Talaya Thompson Montessori Curriculum 1.Underlying Philosophy Montessori education curriculum is based on the philosophy of continuous development, love, caring and uniqueness. In the Montessori classroom, every child is provided with unique opportunities to develop both moral and cognitive skills in areas that motivate students (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if a child loves construction, the teacher may provide construction materials such as small boxes, tapes and superglue that is necessary for assembling the boxes together. This makes learning both interactive and enjoyable. The role of significant adults such as teachers is to provide guidance on what the child should do to realize his/her goals (Isaacs, 2015). For example, if the child is defeated on how to assemble the boxes, the teacher should guide the child until the child has fully mastered the task. 2.Historical Perspectives The history of Montessori s curriculum dates back to 1906 when Maria Montessori founded the first Children s House by the name Casa dei Bambini in Rome, Italy (Isaacs, 2015). It was in this children s house that Maria developed a keen interest on how children develop their cognitive abilities and moral behavior. She realized that every child possesses unique skills and talents that should not be generalized in a single classroom (Ansari Winsler, 2014). In other words, Montessori ...
