The Mossi Myth
Who are the Mossi? The Mossi are a diverse people whose population are greatest in ,what they
consider their homeland, the central part of Burkina Faso and they also live in Cote D Ivoire and
Ghana. The Mossi is the largest ethnic group in Burkina Faso, making up forty percent of the
population totaling over 6 million people. The Mossi are the second largest ethnic group in D Ivoire
totaling over 1.2 million people. A smaller population of about 160,000 Mossi live in Ghana (Mossi).
The history of the Mossi is very interesting. There are different ideas about how the Mossi originated.
Because there are few written records about the Mossi, they rely on special singers called griots to
pass on their traditions orally. According to folklore by the Mossi, the following myth represents the
origin of the Mossi. Over forty generations ago, a king named Naba Nedega had a daughter whom he
would not allow to marry because she was a great warrior. So Princess Nyennega took a horse and fled
north into what is now Mossi country. She married a local man. Their son, named Ouedraogo
(stallion), was sent back to his mother s homeland to be raised by his grandfather, Naba Nedega.
When he grew up, he returned to the north with cavalry from his homeland and conquered his father s
people, the Bisa. The marriage of Ouedraogo and his troops with Bisa ... Show more content on

In addition to everyday chores, men trained for the military using bows and arrows, swords, and

enjoy listening to the radio and sending personal messages to others over the air in other parts of the
country. Television is not popular. According to the most recent study in the ninties, there were only

Explore how time and place are used in the prescribed speeches to shape the audience s understanding
of how knowledge of the past sheds light on the present HSC 2013
Speeches form an interpretation of historical events and values which are moulded around the speaker
s opinions and ideology. Paul Keating s Funeral Service of the Unknown Australian Soldier 1993 and
Noel Pearson s An Australian History for Us All 1996, demonstrate a contrast between how a
historical and contextual understanding of these speeches helps create the necessary apperception on
the given audience to convey the speaker s message appropriately. Despite the fact that both speeches
were given in the mid 1990s, they were addressed to different types of ... Show more content on

As his speech did not withhold any potential controversy, the content and context of it was widely
understood and appreciated by his audience.
Funeral Service of the Unknown Australian Soldier , was addressed by Paul Keating as an individual,
as well as the Australian Prime Minister, the representative of the entire nation. The purpose was to
pay respect to Australians who had fallen in battle with the dedication of a monument, without
glorifying or celebrating Australia s participation in war. As it was addressed to a mixed audience, the
wider Australian community, the themes remained universal, to be easily appreciated with minimal
knowledge and understanding of Australia and it s history in war. This unknown Australian is not
interred here to glorify war over peace; ... or of one generation above any that has or will come later
reflects on Keating s anti war perspective which is contextually proven, as he was well known for
being extremely critical of war and Australia s participation in it as an ally. Without the knowledge of
Keating s anti war ethics, the speech was often thought to celebrate war and Australia s participation
in it, thus creating a divided reception of the speech by the audience. Despite this, Keating had
substantial social respect because of his title as prime minister, which resulted in the audience readily
accepting his point of view.
The concepts of war and peace are the overarching themes in Pearson s An

I m Not Much Of A Crier
I m not much of a crier. I think I cried at Marley and Me, but if you have a dog and didn t cry at that
film then questions certainly need to be asked.
Men will aim to avoid falling under the category of criers . It will take away part of their masculinity
and feel like a sign of weakness.
One thing in life though, will reduce many men (including myself) to tears... and that s football. It has
done so on several occasions in the past and will do for years to come in the future.
95% of the time these are tears of misery, heartache, despondency, regret, embarrassment, dejection,
anger, rage, sorrow, misery, despair, or in my case as a QPR fan, all of the above.
But what doesn t make sense to many people is why, why, why, despite the feelings of crippling
depression football leaves us with, do we keep going back?
And the reason for this is that 5%. Every football fan will understand what I mean when I say there are
two or three moments in past matches that you can say you were there to witness, moments that
caused an indescribable feeling unlike any other, one that you will remember for the rest of your life.
This moment will last a matter of seconds, but will stay with you forever, and as cheesy as it sounds
and as cringe worthy as it feels typing this, it s true.
The one moment that I was lucky enough to be part of took place at Wembley stadium.

Friedrich Froebel and Marie Clay Friedrich August Wilhelm Froebel was born in Oberweissback,
Germany in April 21, 1782 (Ransbury, 1995). He was the sixth child of a Lutheran Minister, but lost
his mother before his first birthday. As a young boy, he played and explored in the gardens
surrounding his home most of the time. His deep love of nature would later influence his educational
philosophy. He did not become educated until age eleven. When he was fifteen years old, he was
apprenticed to a Forester. He then studied at the University of Jena. He accepted a teaching position at

Froebel designed Kindergarten to children s needs in physical activity, the development of sensory

Abstract
This experiment tests how Armadillidium vulgare (wood lice) use their subcutaneous touch,
thermoreceptors and chemoreceptors on their antennae and limbs to sense any airborne or surface
chemicals. In this experiment, ten wood lice were placed in a choice chamber which has two
chambers; each chamber contained one piece of circular paper to cover the circumference of the
chamber. Each paper consisted of one of two different variants of NaCl water, the left side contained
0.9% and the right side contained 10%. The goal of this experiment was to test which solution

An alternative hypothesis was them formed which was that the woodlouse would prefer to migrate to
the 0.9% NaCl solution rather than the 10% solution. This was stated because the woodlouse live in a
moist environment thus meaning the water is fresh water rather than containing much salt. After the
results were calculated, the null hypothesis was rejected because the woodlouse favored the solution
with the least amount of salt (NaCl) which was the 0.9% side. This proved that the woodlouse
preferred a more fresh water environment. A question was then raised as to why some of the
woodlouse still decided to travel to the 10% NaCl water? This experiment could have been more
improved if the choice chamber contained the woodlouse s natural habitat which would to be to insert
grass and dirt into the choice chamber. This would have improved the experiment because it allows
the woodlouse to recognize a familiar environment rather than just travelling to a piece of paper with
different concentration of NaCl water on

Sexual Harassment In Australia
Introduction
Sexual harassment still remains a serious problem in workplaces around Australia and can affect
anyone no matter their age or gender. There are many rules and laws in place around Australia to
prevent this issue but there are still many cases every year, it is the one of the most common types of
complaints received by the Australian Human Rights Commission under the Sex Discrimination Act.
It affects 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 6 men in the workplace; this makes the number of people that have
been sexually harassed very large. Sexual harassment is against the law and some types can be a
criminal offence. A single incident is enough to establish sexual harassment; it does not have to be
repeated.

Kabuki Greek Theatre
Kabuki is a form of theater that is rooted in challenging the deviance. Izumo no Okuni a female who
dressed like a man was the creator of the Kabuki art form. Kabuki arose during the later part of the
16th century and early part of the 17th century. What made the Kabuki Theater a direct challenge to
social and political norms was the storylines chosen, the audience to which it was preformed, and who
the performers were. Kabuki is an art form that serves as a representation of how theater can be used
to challenge authority, and how through such a confrontation can play a role revaluating norms in
society. Kabuki challenged notions of masculinity and femininity. Kabuki theater came to popularity
during the Edo period in Japan. During this period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Izumo no Okuni as previously mentioned created Kabuki. Much of Okuni s early life is unknown, but
what is known is that she was born in the late 16th century most likely in 1571. Also, it is known that
during Okuni childhood she learned the art form of performance dance. It is not known that at some
point she moved from preforming to Buddhist devotional dances to non religious dances. However,
the exact point in which she made the change is not known. If one knew what her reasoning for the
change was it would add another element into the process she went through to pursue non religious
dance. What lead Okuni to early success was the fact that she moved to Kyoto the capital of Japan
were music and dance was thriving. After her move to Kyoto is when one sees Kabuki begin to form.
Okuni made her start by making skits that made of individuals from all social economic statuses. She
also began incorporating eroticism in her performances during this time. This along with the choice to
not use mask was the beginning of Kabuki theater. What is important to note about these three
attributes is that they are what gave Kabuki it s name. Kabuki in English means to behave deviantly.
This name is fitting especially because Kabuki is a direct challenge to

Raisin In The Sun Movie Vs Play
Every word in a literary composition adds more sense, if it is presented in a meaningful way. We can
see various differences between the presentation of Hansberry s play in 1961 and 2008 Act 1 Scene 1,
though they are trying to convey the same message. Both of the scenes are trying to show the dream of
a middle class man, and their day to day circumstances while chasing their dream. The main notion of
the play was to portray about the struggle of African American in the society ruled by white people.
The play was written by African American woman in 1957 and for the first time it was filmed in 1961.
At that time the society was dominated by white people. Though the play wanted to show the idea of
discrimination among white and black people, the movie released in 1961 could not perfectly express
its idea of racism. While in the newer version of movie released in 2008, it s more open and obvious
about the discrimination. The newer version of the movie has added more specifics about the racial
discrimination because the society now has become more understanding and open regarding racial
issues. Act 1 Scene 1 revolves around five characters; Walter, his wife Ruth, his son Travis, his sister

A Comparative Study Between Islamic Law And Srilankan...
Matrimonial rights of women s under Islamic law (sharia law) (A comparative analyze between
Islamic law and srilankan Muslim law) Introduction to the Islamic law
Islamic law is a very great jurisprudence worldwide, Islamic law is defined as the law according to the
Muslim faith and as interpreted from the Quran also known as Sharia law. The sacred law of Islam is
an all embracing body of religious duties, the totality of Allah s commands that regulate the life of
every Muslim in all its aspects. Important feature of Muslim law is the fact that there is no clear
separation of Mosque (is a place of worship for followers of Islam) and state. Under Islamic law, the
religion of Islam and the government are one. Islamic law is controlled, ruled and regulated by the
Islamic religion; a theocracy. Islamic law purports to regulate all public and private behavior including
personal hygiene, diet, sexual conduct, and child rearing. Islamic law now prevails in countries all
over the Middle East and elsewhere covering 20 per cent of the world s population. Despite its relative
inflexibility, in some ways, Islamic law is superior to other systems of law, such as the preference
given to arbitration in civil disputes. Islamic law composed of following elements
* Sharia:
* Quran
* Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (generally known as Hadith) * Sunnah, literally means path.

teachers that have played an important role in their lives to now go onto to build new relationships
with friends and teachers. The objective of this is to explore the experience of two Asian young men
who attend a main stream school and how the recognition of themselves can affect their achievement
whilst at School.
This research was carried out at XXXXX XXXXX High School is in a deprived area Smethwick

As this setting is my current place of work, the School is a very multicultural environment with
prominently Asian young people alongside Polish, Russian, Kurdish and a lot more diverse young
people. The School ensure that students are given the best education possible. In 2013 Ofsted stated,

The First Epistle Of Peter
The First Epistle of Peter The book of First Peter is one that is more prevalent in today s society. It is
much more than just a book; it is an Epistle. Peter is writing a letter to God s people to offer them
hope during their time of sorrow. Since Peter can relate to Jesus and his calling to his people, he is
able to sincerely offer them the comfort and peace that can only be found in Christ. Peter conveys to
them that even though they may be suffering, it is imperative that they put their trust in The Living
Hope: Jesus. Peter s message is full of wisdom and encouragement for God s people to trust in Christ
and put their life in His hands. The epistle of Peter was written by a man by the name of Simon Peter.
Peter was born in Bethsaida, on the Sea of Galilee. Peter was a fisherman by trade and so was his
brother John, who was also a disciple of Christ. Peter was the disciple that Jesus confided in and
talked to first (Fletcher). He was one that Jesus could depend on most of the time. However, Peter is
most notably known for his denial of Jesus three times. In Matthew 26:34, Jesus uttered, I tell you the
truth, Peter this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me
(NLT). Even though Peter was the last disciple that one would ever expect to deny Jesus, he denies
Jesus three times that night just as Christ predicted. The story goes on and Jesus symbolically paints
us a picture of Peter s forgiveness by asking Peter three times

1984 Mind Control Analysis
In our modern world we don t often think about the possibility that somebody could potentially gain
control of our minds. However even if we don t think about it, it doesn t make it any less of a fact. In
the book 1984 as well as in real life mind control proves to be a key technique in gaining power and
control over people.
In the book 1984 the government s main objective is to gain control of the population by shaping the
way they think. They don t want their people to obey their rules because of fear or a sense of duty,
rather they want the people to wholeheartedly believe in the government. Using mind control
techniques the ingsoc government transforms its people into beings who cannot think on their own,
but need guidance for every part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these very voluntary techniques such as hypnotism are quite different from the ones in 1984.
However many organizations such as the marines use mind control in a semi involuntary way. People
such as marines go into the program believing that they will just be taught how to protect their
country, but the disciplinary measures they go through often consist of mind control. They are
expected to lose their individuality, always act as they are told, and change their way of thinking.
These techniques can also be used in religious organizations to gain a fully committed following.
All of these unnerving real life examples raise questions of whether people actually have full control
over their own minds. However most of the examples provided in Captive Minds are quite different
than the methods in 1984 in the fact that they aren t brutally forced. In Canada we don t have to spend
our days worrying that someone will force us into joining a mind washing cult. The only thing we
have to do is avoid joining organizations or groups with blind faith by finding out what they are about

How The Family Is Problematic From The Historical Perspective
Explain and discuss why the definition of the family is problematic from the historical perspective.
The family form I am going to be defining is the nuclear and with reference to the historical
perspective I will attempt to explain why this definition is problematic. Within this discussion I will
also explore whether the nuclear family is a natural family form or whether it is a socially constructed
one. According to Munice et al (1995; 10) the nuclear family is a small unit produced from the
conjugal heterosexual couple and their biological children. The nuclear family unit share a common
residence and are united by their ties of affection, common identity and support.
Historical research has shown that there have been many different family forms in the past that did not
necessarily fit the nuclear definition of the family. There are four main approaches to consider when
talking about the history of the family. These approaches help show the significant changes that have
occurred in the family . The four approaches are the: demographic, economic, sentiments and the legal
and institutional approaches. The demographic approach measures the statistical patterns of the family
. Statistics taken from parish records and censuses enable us to see how family households have
changed over time. The average household size has been relatively stable and stayed at 4.75 persons
per household between the sixteenth century and the end of the nineteenth century. These households

Narrative History of Texas Annexation, Secession, and Readmission to the Union
Texans voted in favor of annexation to the United States in the first election following independence
in 1836. However, throughout the Republic period (1836 1845) no treaty of annexation negotiated
between the Republic and the United States was ratified by both nations.
When all attempts to arrive at a formal annexation treaty failed, the United States Congress passed
after much debate and only a simple majority a Joint Resolution for Annexing Texas to the United
States. Under these terms, Texas would keep both its public lands and its public debt, it would have

Sixteen years later, in January 1861, the Secession Convention met in Austin and adopted an
Ordinance of Secession on February 1 and a Declaration of Causes on February 2. This proposal was
approved by the voters, but even before Texas could become independent as provided for in the text of
the Ordinance, it was accepted by the Provisional Government of the Confederate States of America
as a state on March 1, 1861.
The Secession Convention, reconvened on March 2, approved an ordinance accepting Confederate
statehood on March 5. Texas delegates to the Provisional Confederate Government had already been

action was confirmed by the Secession Convention on March 23.
Throughout the Civil War period, Texas existed as a state in the Confederate States of America, its

Frederic Henry says farewell to the battle arms and weaponry used in the war and to the arms of his
lover, Catherine Barkley throughout the course of the novel.
Thesis: The novel A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway uses imagery to illuminate the
emotional, physical, mental scars the world inflicts on all individuals.
Paragraph One: Stick: emotional scar on her heart
War doesn t merely leave physical scars on soldiers, it can leave deep emotional scars on loved ones.
The first time Henry meets Catherine Barkley he is fond of her beauty. He also notices that She was

The relationship between Henry and Catherine initially served as a means of alleviating life s
difficulties such as the pain of war and grievances but grew into a reality with Catherine s pregnancy.
The doctor was sewing up the great long, forcep spread, thick edged, wound (325). This action makes
Frederic feel uncomfortable and is a reminder of the pain he has inflicted on Catherine. The physical
scar on her body has left a mental scar on Frederic after she passes away.
It was like saying good by to a statue (332). Statues represent a fallen hero and keep the memory of
the person alive. Catherine served as a hero in Frederic s life of the gentle, good, and brave qualities
she possessed.
After a while I went out and left the hospital and walked back to the hotel in the rain (332). Rain is a
surrogate for Frederic s feelings throughout the novel.
The world Kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially (249). The world is
unbiased when it kills but it leaves individuals with a mental

Job Satisfaction And Motivation For Employees Essay
Managers can develop subordinates to manage routine tasks that are not cost effective for them to
carry out. Delegation also allows the transfer of work to subordinates who might have better skills
than the manager to complete the tasks that can save time. The reason can be for example the
delegation of a project to an employee that have intimate knowledge of a specific field or subject that
involves the project. Apart from developing employees, delegation can also play an important role in
job satisfaction and motivation.
7.1 Diagram: Steps in successful delegation
Source: Team FME, 2015:12
According to Team FME, (2015:12) managers must follow certain steps to ensure that delegation is
meaningful in terms of achievement of the organisations objectives and supportive of the employee s
development. These steps include;
Step 1 Selecting the right person with the right knowledge, skills and attributes is essential. Delegation
should be developmental and not set the employee up for failure (Fox and Van der Waldt, 2007:121).
Step 2 Set clear goals and select appropriate tasks. There are certain tasks that cannot be delegated to
subordinates for example, a task that no else in the department is prepared to do, morale problems,
emergency or short term task where there is no time to explain or train the employee or lastly
personnel issues such as hiring , dismissal or disciplinary matters.
Step 3 Set clear deadlines by giving clear, well communicated briefings in

The Airplane Research Paper
The Airplane The last two centuries have seen immense innovations and inventions in the world. The
world today is hinged on the creativity of technologists and scientists. Every invention that has come
around has played a great role in shaping the lives of the people. From the original form of an
invention, so many developments are made to ensure that it moves with time and fits within the
demands today s society. This has created the concern for innovators about the sustainability of
inventions in the market for the long term. One innovation that has achieved this goal is the airplane.

The Modern American View of Disability
In Rosmarie Garland Thomson: The politics of Staring , expresses how our society has changed over
time. She views human s theories in four different visual rhetoric s which in this case I am going to
call them speechmaking s: the wondrous, the realistic, the sentimental and the exotic. From these four
figures of speech Garland has shown our inclination to see disabled people by the way they are
discriminated by the rest of society. Garland makes references to this by showing pictures and
examples that highlights how the modern American world views disability.
The first figure of speech Garland discusses is the wondrous. She points out how the wondrous
represent monsters, giants, meaning the good and evil, The wondrous viewpoint is defined by the
association of the disabled with the normal, creating a disconnect in what the viewer sees as able. By
visualizing a disabled person moving out physical trials ranging from menial tasks to physical feats of
strength and will, the viewer creates a hollowness between the dexterity and capability to perform and
the assumed lack of abilities of the subject. By saying The antecedents of the wondrous disabled
figures are the monsters of antiquity, who inspired awe, foretold the future, or bore divine signs, and
freaks, who were the celebrities in nineteenth century dime museums and sideshows she shows how

The Battle Of Red Army
Yeah, I suppose it is.
You re one of those Red Army folks, aren t you?
I dragged my gaze away from the brightly colored band aids to Atlas face. Red Army? Is that what
they re calling it nowadays?
Before it had been the Red Vigilantes or the Red Devils, but the Red Army did have a certain ring to
it. Rook would like it, anyway.
That going to be a problem? I asked.
It was hard to tell where people stood sometimes. Most of the Lower Society sided with Rook and his
Red Army, as they were calling it, while the High Society sided with the King and his men. But there
were always outliers.

The Evolution Of Optical Networks
Optical network is designed to transmit digital signals in the form of pulses of light. Optical fiber is
used as medium for transmission. Optical fiber is a thin, flexible, transparent fiber (glass or plastic)
that acts as a waveguide to transmit light between the ends of the fiber. Optical fiber consists of a
central glass core surrounded by a cladding layer whose refractive index is slightly lower than the core
index. Such fibers are generally referred to as step index fiber to distinguish them from graded index
fiber in which the refractive index of the core decreases gradually from center to core boundary.
Working principle for transmission is total internal reflection (TIR). Figure 1.1 Light propagation in

In such kinds of optical networks, both the traffic passing by and ending at a node is converted from
the optical domain to the electrical domain and switched electronically to an output port (including a
port that can drop traffic locally). Following electronic switching, the traffic passing by a node is
converted back to the optical domain before departing from the node. With the increase in data
transmission rate, electrical switching and optical electrical optical (OEO) conversion result in a
significant growth in complexity and cost for electronic devices. Therefore, reducing the burden
placed on the underlying electronic devices in a node and removing electronic switching for traffic
passing by a node became key factors in the development of second generation optical networks. The
switching and processing of bits were, however, handled in the electronic domain as before.
1.2.2 Second Generation Optical Networks
These networks were made capable of using multiple carrier wavelengths that were multiplexed onto a
single fiber thus offering increased bandwidth. The technique is called wavelength division
multiplexing. From technological point of view, incorporating the switching and routing functionality
in the optical domain and allowing for the transparency of data format, protocol and bit rates are the
achievements of second generation over

Why Do Regular Cars Play A Significant Role In Our Society
Automobiles are a crucial innovation that play an increasingly significant role in society today. Cars
provide people with a primary method of transportation and have emerged as a basic necessity for
people in their day to day lives. Although they have a variety of positive effects, regular vehicles also
come with many different detrimental aspects. These adverse effects can be eliminated by a new
transformative type of automobile known as autonomous, or self driving, vehicles (AVs). Regular
vehicles lack the same safety, opportunities for everyone to have the same transportation, efficiency,
and environmental benefit. Society would become more advanced by modifying transportation today
by only having AVs on the road and no regular vehicles whatsoever. The AVs could permissibly have
different moral algorithms from each other, depending on consumer and manufacturer choice; any

removing regular vehicles off the road and replacing them with driverless vehicles. Roads would no
longer be plagued by drunk driving, sleepiness, inattention, road rage, etc which are the leading causes
for car accidents. Each AV would be programmed with safety limitations that would prevent most
common accidents that happen during every day commutes. Thus, there would be fewer fatalities and
injuries seen in a year. On average in the United States 37,000 people die in car accidents each year
and an additional 2.35 million are injured or disabled as well. In March 2013, the company Google
logged more than 500,000 miles of autonomous driving on public roads with its driverless car without
incurring a crash. This evidence shows that driverless cars provide much more security for passengers,
therefore regular vehicles should be taken off of the roads

Public Administration Vs. Private Administration
Introduction
Public Administration is like any other administration, it is a process of translating the policies in the
overall interests of the general public; which are then carried out into the results that can either benefit
or hinder the general well being of society and the people living within this democratic monarchy.
Although, in order to distinguish what is public from what is private and what is politics from what is
administration, you have to know who is being affected and how they are being influenced.
Issue for analysis
Public Administration is the process within a governmental setup, which tends to hold a strong hold

If the government refuses to sponsor health insurance programs; such as Medicare and Medicaid,
under the PPACA, then public consumers; such as ourselves, will otherwise go without medical

The insurance companies will undoubtedly refuse to meet the requirements that were put into place
under this act; thus declining to reimburse doctors with the maximum payout; or Minimum Essential

In the way he conveys this, it s clear that he feels time is moving very slowly. In the third stanza, We
do not wind it up, it has no weights, spring wheels inside of its slender self, no indeed dear nothing of
the kind (Cummings Web), Cummings creates vivid imagery. This shows that Cummings is relating
how he has no use for a clock and doesn t care for the principle of keeping time. He would rather live
life time free, without having to worry about being on time or being late.
The third and final poetic device that shows up in the poem, 9 , is symbolism. To begin the poem
Cummings uses symbolism. The number 9 refers to the number of times he uses the words, tic toc ,
toc tic , tic tic , toc , and tic . Also, as seen in the fourth stanza, So when kiss spring comes, we ll kiss
each kiss other on kiss the kiss lips because the tic clocks toc don t make a toc tic difference to kiss
kiss you and to kiss me (Cummings Web). Cummings uses the word kiss to complicate and clutter the
verse. If you remove those words, he simply summarizes all of his thoughts in the last stanza. He says
when spring comes; we can kiss because the clocks don t make a difference to you and me. This
symbolizes that Cummings can t wait for the spring and summer months when the clocks don t play a
role in his life.
In conclusion, Cummings uses his poem 9 to relay his feeling to time. He feels that

Essay The English Reformation
The English Reformation
During the reign of King Richard II England was experiencing her first serious outbreak of heresy for
nearly a millennium. This widespread heresy, known as Lollardy, held the reformation of the Catholic
Church as its main motivation, and was based upon the ideas of John Wyclif, an Oxford scholar. All
kinds of men, not only in London but in widely separated regions of the country, seized the
opportunity to voice criticisms both constructive and destructive of the present state of the Church.

It thus followed that it was the duty of the king to reform the Church. Eleven years after Wyclif s
death, a group of Lollards came before Parliament with their complaints, and asked the Lords and the
Commons in Parliament to lead the way to reformation.
Wyclif s, and by extension the Lollards, views also included the supreme importance of the Scriptures
as a guide to living a Christian life, as opposed to the Catholic view which placed the Scripture along
side the advise and beliefs of the Church hierarchy. This resulted in the translation of the Gospels and
the Bible into English so that all people could read and understand the Scriptures. The Lollards
rebelled against the idea that the host and wine could be turned into the body and blood of Jesus, and
called for a return to primitive simplicity and morality. Two main areas of contention for the Lollards,
as well as the royal administration, however, were the Church s exorbitant wealth and the supremacy
of the pope. After the Peasant Revolt of 1381 priests did their best to associate the attacks by peasants
on ecclesiastical and secular property with Wyclif s teaching on lordship

In the midst of military preparations, Lady Macbeth gets caught up in the decent into madness. She is
having, as the doctor describes, thick coming fantasies and Macbeth does not seem very disturbed; he
only orders that the doctor cure her (5.3.42). But, in the following scene, a scream is heard and, after
investigating, Seyton returns to report to Macbeth that, The queen, my lord, is dead (5.5.17). Macbeth
then proceeds to suggest that, had she died later, he would have had time to properly mourn, evident
when he says, There would have been time for such a word (5.5.18). Then, a majority of the soliloquy

Leading up to it, Macbeth was frenzied and rushing the military preparations, pushing Lady Macbeth s
condition off to the side while he dealt with other matters. But her downward spiral ended the way it
was bound to, Macbeth became very detached and seemingly blunt. As Todd Borlik wrote, Macbeth s
shockingly terse response to the news of his wife s death has disconcerted commentators, many of
whom gloss it as evidence of his callous indifference to her passing. However, he goes on to quote
Samuel Johnson, who wrote, Had she died at a more peaceful hour and not during a decisive battle,
there would have been time to honor her with a proper funeral befitting a queen. Macbeth, although he
seemed insensitive, had not accepted that Laady Macbeth had died. His thoughts about life, however,
showed how he really felt and how grief stricken he really was, while offering up the idea that life is a

of people believe that at the age of 18 you re an adult, legally yes, but your brain is still growing
which means you re not grown up you need to finish growing before your grown up. The definition of
an adult, a person who is fully grown or developed and/or matured (noun), {of person or animal} fully
grown or developed (adjective), people often mistakes adult hood to start at 18 but it takes longer and
more than just that. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone doesn t mature at the same time, of course, were all different yes, but, the average age of full
maturity and development is twenty five years of age. Although scientist believed that eighteen was
the final stage of being a teen and finally entering adulthood, but they realized soon after that the brain
was not fully developed, so once they extend their research they came to a final conclusion that
around twenty five was the age of full maturity. But of course, this is not society s standards of an
adult they are much higher than an age and definition. The characteristics of an adult range widely

Debussy s Portfoliographie-Personal Narrative
Shoving the door open with my hip, I enter the dingy practice room, my hands full of books and
school supplies. It takes me two strides to walk from the door to the mahogany piano up against the
far wall, where it sits exactly as I left it last night. I drop my things on the floor, pull the small bench
out from beneath the piano and sit upon it, making myself as comfortable as possible on the worn
cushions. Debussy s Reverie erupts from my fingers without even thinking twice. The old piano keys
don t shy away from my touch; in fact, they almost seem to quiver with delight at every note I play. Of
course, playing one piano alone for an entire year may have that effect. My music professor gave me
special permission to have this piano for my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why d you take my scarf, Tum? I shake my head at the use of his pet name for me. I m cold. The
temperature in the practice rooms always dips below room temperature, and Derik s wardrobe choices,
which always includes a jacket or scarf, help in such times. Autumn, you re always cold. Even if you
lived in Africa, you d still be cold. Derik s comment makes me laugh, but the door to the practice
room inching open stops it in my throat. Derik notices me eyeing the door and glances at it. What?
What did you see? I don t know. I shake my head, rubbing my eyes. I thought I saw someone opening
the door. Derik gets off of the piano bench and creeps over to the doorway. He grabs the edge of the
door and opens it slowly. A hand suddenly reaches out and grabs Derik by the wrist. He starts and I
almost scream, but I realize that I recognize those perfectly French manicured nails. It takes me two
seconds to walk from the piano to the door and by that time, Brielle has already started dragging Derik
down the hall. Autumn! He whispers, trying to yank his arm away from Brielle s clutches. Stay out of
sight! But... Before I can finish my sentence, they both disappear from view. I stand in the hallway for
a few moments, then take off in a swift jog after

The Theory Of Moral Behavior
The statement claims that no question can ever be neutral. This means that all questions are leading
questions, that we always have a notion of the knowledge we find. The definition of neutral in the
English dictionary is: not supporting either side in a conflict, disagreement: impartial 1. It means being
detached and impersonal to situations, questions or judgements. Mathematics, as an area of knowledge
is said to be a subject that already exists in the natural world, only that we discover its marvellous
phenomena rather than invent them. The discoveries may require neutrality in our thinking, but the
proofs need prior knowledge, because each formula is built from an aggregate of different unique
formulas. In the same way, in ethics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leaves me to wonder if discoveries, even in mathematics, are never discoveries because the
outcome of any research is anticipated before the actual final result.
When I ask someone a question, I as the inquirer, will usually expect a certain type of answer, or there
will be a particular type or model of answer expected for that question. For queries, question or any
uncertainties, the world almost always has a stipulated answer, that if not correct, is at least widely
accepted the majority rules! An inquirer tends to have a bias towards his or her questions. Logic and
rational thinking are involved before the answer is given. Even the essay I am writing right now has
specific criteria, which indirectly, points out wrong or right responses. I would say that almost every
question requires public knowledge, or knowledge by description, before we can incorporate any
private opinions or knowledge by acquaintance. We tend to know that before we know how ; Most
students are taught the circumference of a circle is equal to pi times diameter earlier in about class six
or seven, before they know how this came about, and maybe may never even know or understand. So
if someone asked me what the area of a circle is, and I said it was radius squared, omitting the pi, this
would be wrong, and almost no teacher would even take a second look about why I have I have given
this answer. Using empirical knowledge, I would see no pi around the circle, and that is why I would

Research Paper On Christmas In Australia
What is a down under Christmas like? Australia is known as the land Down Under for its position in
the southern hemisphere. Australia is the world s largest island and also the world s smallest
continent. The seasons in Australia are opposite to the United States. Christmas festivities begin in late
November, when schools and church groups present Nativity plays. When Australians celebrate
Christmas on December 25, it is during summer vacation. Many of the traditions in Australia are
similar to the traditions in the United States. Homes are decorated, families enjoy a holiday meal,
attend church together, Santa Claus is part of the Australian Christmas and during the entire month of
December they sing carols.
One tradition that is similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some families put up a Christmas tree. They also hang stockings at the edge of their bed, and listen
their all time favorite books like Christmas Wombat and Bush Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, families attend church together. Some children expect Father Christmas to leave
gifts, and others wait for Santa Claus to visit and deliver gifts. After opening presents on Christmas
morning, the family sits down to a breakfast of ham and eggs. Then the family goes to church again.
Christmas Day is when families and close friends gather together from all over Australia. The
highlight of the day is the holiday meal in the middle of the day.
Finally, one of my favorite parts about learning Australia Christmas, is that they have huge bonfires at
the end of the day. They get together and hang out, they tell stories to each other. Also they gets laughs
in, and play around making up time that they didn t get to spend with each other over the past year or
so. Christmas is one of my all time favorite holidays! Who wouldn t enjoy getting to spend time with
family, and friends, and getting together hearing stories from your elders or your grandchildren that s

Joan Vinckeboon Myth
A 1650 map, created by Joan Vinckeboon, titled Map of California Shown as an Island, echoes the
inaccurate belief of cartographers, whose early maps depicted California as an island, separate from
mainland North America. The Dutch cartographer and engraver Vinckeboon was born into a Flemish
family of artists and started out drawing for his father. About 1640, he started creating maps, and later
was employed by the Dutch West India Company, where he spent roughly three decades creating maps
that aided Dutch mercantile and military shipping. He was associated with the notable map and atlas
publisher Joan Blaeu, and so, Vinckeboon is credited with compiling a series of 200 manuscript maps
that were published in atlases, including Blaeu s Atlas Major. ... Show more content on

But, how did the idea of California as an island came to be? It is said that a Spanish writer, Garci
Rodriguez de Montalvo, in his 1510 romance novel, Las Sergas de Esplandian, describes an island
called California very close to the side of the Terrestrial Paradise; and it is peopled by black women,
without any man among them, for they live in the manner of Amazons. Along the way, early explorers
who ventured up the Gulf of California, mistook the Baja California peninsula for an island. This
misconception continued through the 17th and 18th

SSMU3.1 Understanding Sensory Loss
Gemma Nelson (Ashcroft House)
1.1 Analyse how a range of factors can impact on individuals with sensory loss
* Impact on Communication
Sensory loss can frequently lead to isolation and frustration at not being able to communicate
efficiently with other people. With hearing loss, day to day activities such as hearing a doorbell, using
the telephone, watching television or taking part in conversations can produce feelings of inadequacy
within the individual. Not being able to distinguish faces, read the time on a clock or drive can
produce the same feelings in a person who has vision loss. Hearing loss interferes with face to face
communication and can often cause older people to lose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Society is better than it used to be at recognising the needs of deaf people; there are more public
buildings such as cinemas, theatres and conference facilities that have loop systems so that people
who can use hearing aids are able to listen to what is being said or performed. There some events that
now have signers to translate speeches and performances. Many television programmes now have
access to subtitles and some have signers, although these tend to be late at night. People with any kind
of sensory loss can have difficulties in finding employment. Even though the Equality Act and the
Disability Discrimination Act mean that employers cannot discriminate, it is hard to convince an
employer that a sensory loss does not necessarily mean that someone is unable to do a job.
Attitudes such as these can make it difficult for people to maintain self esteem and can destroy
confidence, with the result that they will attempt less, rely on others more and potentially lose their
independence. However, there have been some major shifts in attitudes as initiatives such as Our
Health Our Care Our Say , Putting People First and Valuing People are changing how we look at
disability and making people aware that all disabled people have the right to take a full part in society.

Interview With Mr. Robledo
At 1601 hours I was dispatched to 12625 Wetmore, SATX, Suite 436, Room 1163 to meet with Mr.
Jose Robledo concerning the positioning of 4 mannequins in an apartment room in a sexual manner. I
arrived on scene at 1604 hours along with several other officers. Upon arrival we met with Mr.
Robledo and he explained that the mannequins had been removed from their storage location under
the stairs leading to classroom 2 and positioned in a sexual manner in front of a window in the
apartment room. Earlier in the day Mr. Robledo had given a tour to Converse Police Department
recruiters and at that time the room had not been disturbed. This tour took place shortly before the
junior cadet class was dismissed for lunch at approximately 1210. Mr. Robledo returned to the
apartment at 1520 and noticed that the mannequins had been positioned in an obscene ... Show more

From you know who. When questioned about who could have done this, Mr. Robledo stated that it
could have been any number of the cadets, but was not likely a staff member since he asked the staff if
they were responsible and they stated they had no knowledge of the inciden. Mr Robledo stated that if
found he want the individual responsible for the action to go to jail for heir behavior. Prior to leaving
the scene I checked under the stairs and did not notice any visible damages to property. I left the scene

The And The Qur An Essay
His reference to the Qur an brings back to the moment he began establishing ethos with his stream of
metaphors that explain the ripple effect. Although, this time, he uses a more positive tone in the sense
that one good deed will lead to an infinite amount of good deeds. It s almost as if he carefully chose
this reference and purposefully delivers it 10 minutes after making the stream of metaphors. Making a
connection like that with a huge time gap is a very difficult task and requires a lot of eloquence,
something that only Barack Obama and a few other speakers possess. Each part of the speech includes
proof and refutation. For example, when Obama brings up the issue of Iraq, He provides the logical
argument that America has the responsibilities of helping Iraq and leaving Iraq to Iraqis. The
refutation occurs when he acknowledges nine eleven and how it led to reactions that were against
traditional belief and made the promise to take troops out of Iraq by 2012. He also makes the promise
to have Guantanamo Bay closed. These promises were big promises that received great attention. I
consider the promise Obama made about bringing all troops back from Iraq by 2012 to be one of the
most impactful promises that he made as a president because it affects nearly everyone s family and
friends in the United States. The next part that is about the issue of Palestinians and Israelis. He brings
up the history and logical argument about each side of the story but ultimately refutes

  • 2. The Mossi Myth Who are the Mossi? The Mossi are a diverse people whose population are greatest in ,what they consider their homeland, the central part of Burkina Faso and they also live in Cote D Ivoire and Ghana. The Mossi is the largest ethnic group in Burkina Faso, making up forty percent of the population totaling over 6 million people. The Mossi are the second largest ethnic group in D Ivoire totaling over 1.2 million people. A smaller population of about 160,000 Mossi live in Ghana (Mossi). The history of the Mossi is very interesting. There are different ideas about how the Mossi originated. Because there are few written records about the Mossi, they rely on special singers called griots to pass on their traditions orally. According to folklore by the Mossi, the following myth represents the origin of the Mossi. Over forty generations ago, a king named Naba Nedega had a daughter whom he would not allow to marry because she was a great warrior. So Princess Nyennega took a horse and fled north into what is now Mossi country. She married a local man. Their son, named Ouedraogo (stallion), was sent back to his mother s homeland to be raised by his grandfather, Naba Nedega. When he grew up, he returned to the north with cavalry from his homeland and conquered his father s people, the Bisa. The marriage of Ouedraogo and his troops with Bisa ... Paul Keating s Funeral Service of the Unknown Australian Soldier 1993 and Noel Pearson s An Australian History for Us All 1996, demonstrate a contrast between how a historical and contextual understanding of these speeches helps create the necessary apperception on the given audience to convey the speaker s message appropriately. As his speech did not withhold any potential controversy, the content and context of it was widely understood and appreciated by his audience. Funeral Service of the Unknown Australian Soldier , was addressed by Paul Keating as an individual, as well as the Australian Prime Minister, the representative of the entire nation. The purpose was to pay respect to Australians who had fallen in battle with the dedication of a monument, without glorifying or celebrating Australia s participation in war. As it was addressed to a mixed audience, the wider Australian community, the themes remained universal, to be easily appreciated with minimal knowledge and understanding of Australia and it s history in war. This unknown Australian is not interred here to glorify war over peace; ... or of one generation above any that has or will come later reflects on Keating s anti war perspective which is contextually proven, as he was well known for being extremely critical of war and Australia s participation in it as an ally. Without the knowledge of Keating s anti war ethics, the speech was often thought to celebrate war and Australia s participation in it, thus creating a divided reception of the speech by the audience. Despite this, Keating had substantial social respect because of his title as prime minister, which resulted in the audience readily accepting his point of view. Men will aim to avoid falling under the category of criers . It will take away part of their masculinity and feel like a sign of weakness. One thing in life though, will reduce many men (including myself) to tears... and that s football. It has done so on several occasions in the past and will do for years to come in the future. 95% of the time these are tears of misery, heartache, despondency, regret, embarrassment, dejection, anger, rage, sorrow, misery, despair, or in my case as a QPR fan, all of the above. But what doesn t make sense to many people is why, why, why, despite the feelings of crippling depression football leaves us with, do we keep going back? And the reason for this is that 5%. Every football fan will understand what I mean when I say there are two or three moments in past matches that you can say you were there to witness, moments that caused an indescribable feeling unlike any other, one that you will remember for the rest of your life. He was the sixth child of a Lutheran Minister, but lost his mother before his first birthday. As a young boy, he played and explored in the gardens surrounding his home most of the time. His deep love of nature would later influence his educational philosophy. He did not become educated until age eleven. When he was fifteen years old, he was apprenticed to a Forester. Froebel called his approach to education self activity and self representation ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000; Ransbury, 1995). Therefore the teacher s role is as a guide, not a lecturer ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000). He was also the first to introduce the concept of curricula appropriate to a child s developmental level (Woodill,1995). Froebel designed Kindergarten to children s needs in physical activity, the development of sensory awareness and physical dexterity, creative expression, exploration of ideas and concepts, the pleasure of singing, the experience of living among others, and satisfaction of the soul ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000). Until his death in 1852, he was devoted to making Kindergarten known. The German immigrants brought the idea of Kindergarten to the United States in the nineteenth century. In this experiment, ten wood lice were placed in a choice chamber which has two chambers; each chamber contained one piece of circular paper to cover the circumference of the chamber. An alternative hypothesis was them formed which was that the woodlouse would prefer to migrate to the 0.9% NaCl solution rather than the 10% solution. After the results were calculated, the null hypothesis was rejected because the woodlouse favored the solution with the least amount of salt (NaCl) which was the 0.9% side. This proved that the woodlouse preferred a more fresh water environment. A question was then raised as to why some of the woodlouse still decided to travel to the 10% NaCl water? This experiment could have been more improved if the choice chamber contained the woodlouse s natural habitat which would to be to insert grass and dirt into the choice chamber. This would have improved the experiment because it allows the woodlouse to recognize a familiar environment rather than just travelling to a piece of paper with different concentration of NaCl water on ... We can see various differences between the presentation of Hansberry s play in 1961 and 2008 Act 1 Scene 1, though they are trying to convey the same message. Both of the scenes are trying to show the dream of a middle class man, and their day to day circumstances while chasing their dream. The main notion of the play was to portray about the struggle of African American in the society ruled by white people. The play was written by African American woman in 1957 and for the first time it was filmed in 1961. At that time the society was dominated by white people. Though the play wanted to show the idea of discrimination among white and black people, the movie released in 1961 could not perfectly express its idea of racism. While in the newer version of movie released in 2008, it s more open and obvious about the discrimination. Matrimonial rights of women s under Islamic law (sharia law) (A comparative analyze between Islamic law and srilankan Muslim law) Introduction to the Islamic law Islamic law is a very great jurisprudence worldwide, Islamic law is defined as the law according to the Muslim faith and as interpreted from the Quran also known as Sharia law. The sacred law of Islam is an all embracing body of religious duties, the totality of Allah s commands that regulate the life of every Muslim in all its aspects. Important feature of Muslim law is the fact that there is no clear separation of Mosque (is a place of worship for followers of Islam) and state. Under Islamic law, the religion of Islam and the government are one. Islamic law is controlled, ruled and regulated by the Islamic religion; a theocracy. Islamic law purports to regulate all public and private behavior including personal hygiene, diet, sexual conduct, and child rearing. Islamic law now prevails in countries all over the Middle East and elsewhere covering 20 per cent of the world s population. Despite its relative inflexibility, in some ways, Islamic law is superior to other systems of law, such as the preference given to arbitration in civil disputes. • 13. The First Epistle Of Peter The First Epistle of Peter The book of First Peter is one that is more prevalent in today s society. It is much more than just a book; it is an Epistle. Peter is writing a letter to God s people to offer them hope during their time of sorrow. Since Peter can relate to Jesus and his calling to his people, he is able to sincerely offer them the comfort and peace that can only be found in Christ. Peter conveys to them that even though they may be suffering, it is imperative that they put their trust in The Living Hope: Jesus. Peter s message is full of wisdom and encouragement for God s people to trust in Christ and put their life in His hands. The epistle of Peter was written by a man by the name of Simon Peter. Peter was born in Bethsaida, on the Sea of Galilee. Peter was a fisherman by trade and so was his brother John, who was also a disciple of Christ. Peter was the disciple that Jesus confided in and talked to first (Fletcher). He was one that Jesus could depend on most of the time. However, Peter is most notably known for his denial of Jesus three times. In Matthew 26:34, Jesus uttered, I tell you the truth, Peter this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me (NLT). Even though Peter was the last disciple that one would ever expect to deny Jesus, he denies Jesus three times that night just as Christ predicted. However even if we don t think about it, it doesn t make it any less of a fact. In the book 1984 as well as in real life mind control proves to be a key technique in gaining power and control over people. In the book 1984 the government s main objective is to gain control of the population by shaping the way they think. They don t want their people to obey their rules because of fear or a sense of duty, rather they want the people to wholeheartedly believe in the government. Some of these very voluntary techniques such as hypnotism are quite different from the ones in 1984. However many organizations such as the marines use mind control in a semi involuntary way. People such as marines go into the program believing that they will just be taught how to protect their country, but the disciplinary measures they go through often consist of mind control. They are expected to lose their individuality, always act as they are told, and change their way of thinking. These techniques can also be used in religious organizations to gain a fully committed following. All of these unnerving real life examples raise questions of whether people actually have full control over their own minds. However most of the examples provided in Captive Minds are quite different than the methods in 1984 in the fact that they aren t brutally forced. The family form I am going to be defining is the nuclear and with reference to the historical perspective I will attempt to explain why this definition is problematic. Within this discussion I will also explore whether the nuclear family is a natural family form or whether it is a socially constructed one. According to Munice et al (1995; 10) the nuclear family is a small unit produced from the conjugal heterosexual couple and their biological children. The nuclear family unit share a common residence and are united by their ties of affection, common identity and support. Historical research has shown that there have been many different family forms in the past that did not necessarily fit the nuclear definition of the family. There are four main approaches to consider when talking about the history of the family. These approaches help show the significant changes that have occurred in the family . The four approaches are the: demographic, economic, sentiments and the legal and institutional approaches. The demographic approach measures the statistical patterns of the family . Statistics taken from parish records and censuses enable us to see how family households have changed over time. The average household size has been relatively stable and stayed at 4.75 persons per household between the sixteenth century and the end of the nineteenth century. These households ... She views human s theories in four different visual rhetoric s which in this case I am going to call them speechmaking s: the wondrous, the realistic, the sentimental and the exotic. From these four figures of speech Garland has shown our inclination to see disabled people by the way they are discriminated by the rest of society. Garland makes references to this by showing pictures and examples that highlights how the modern American world views disability. The first figure of speech Garland discusses is the wondrous. She points out how the wondrous represent monsters, giants, meaning the good and evil, The wondrous viewpoint is defined by the association of the disabled with the normal, creating a disconnect in what the viewer sees as able. By visualizing a disabled person moving out physical trials ranging from menial tasks to physical feats of strength and will, the viewer creates a hollowness between the dexterity and capability to perform and the assumed lack of abilities of the subject. Optical fiber is a thin, flexible, transparent fiber (glass or plastic) that acts as a waveguide to transmit light between the ends of the fiber. Optical fiber consists of a central glass core surrounded by a cladding layer whose refractive index is slightly lower than the core index. Such fibers are generally referred to as step index fiber to distinguish them from graded index fiber in which the refractive index of the core decreases gradually from center to core boundary. Working principle for transmission is total internal reflection (TIR). Figure 1.1 Light propagation in fiber Optical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In such kinds of optical networks, both the traffic passing by and ending at a node is converted from the optical domain to the electrical domain and switched electronically to an output port (including a port that can drop traffic locally). With the increase in data transmission rate, electrical switching and optical electrical optical (OEO) conversion result in a significant growth in complexity and cost for electronic devices. Therefore, reducing the burden placed on the underlying electronic devices in a node and removing electronic switching for traffic passing by a node became key factors in the development of second generation optical networks. The switching and processing of bits were, however, handled in the electronic domain as before. 1.2.2 Second Generation Optical Networks These networks were made capable of using multiple carrier wavelengths that were multiplexed onto a single fiber thus offering increased bandwidth. But, in the following scene, a scream is heard and, after investigating, Seyton returns to report to Macbeth that, The queen, my lord, is dead (5.5.17). Macbeth then proceeds to suggest that, had she died later, he would have had time to properly mourn, evident when he says, There would have been time for such a word (5.5.18). Then, a majority of the soliloquy is Macbeth s reflection on the first two lines. His first response is an ironic understatement because he simply says he wishes for her death ... Leading up to it, Macbeth was frenzied and rushing the military preparations, pushing Lady Macbeth s condition off to the side while he dealt with other matters. But her downward spiral ended the way it was bound to, Macbeth became very detached and seemingly blunt. As Todd Borlik wrote, Macbeth s shockingly terse response to the news of his wife s death has disconcerted commentators, many of whom gloss it as evidence of his callous indifference to her passing. However, he goes on to quote Samuel Johnson, who wrote, Had she died at a more peaceful hour and not during a decisive battle, there would have been time to honor her with a proper funeral befitting a queen. Macbeth, although he seemed insensitive, had not accepted that Laady Macbeth had died. His thoughts about life, however, showed how he really felt and how grief stricken he really was, while offering up the idea that life is a short flash of light in the darkness that is eternity and ... It takes me two strides to walk from the door to the mahogany piano up against the far wall, where it sits exactly as I left it last night. • 44. The Theory Of Moral Behavior The statement claims that no question can ever be neutral. This means that all questions are leading questions, that we always have a notion of the knowledge we find. The definition of neutral in the English dictionary is: not supporting either side in a conflict, disagreement: impartial 1. It means being detached and impersonal to situations, questions or judgements. Mathematics, as an area of knowledge is said to be a subject that already exists in the natural world, only that we discover its marvellous phenomena rather than invent them. Joan Vinckeboon Myth A 1650 map, created by Joan Vinckeboon, titled Map of California Shown as an Island, echoes the inaccurate belief of cartographers, whose early maps depicted California as an island, separate from mainland North America. About 1640, he started creating maps, and later was employed by the Dutch West India Company, where he spent roughly three decades creating maps that aided Dutch mercantile and military shipping. • 49. The And The Qur An Essay His reference to the Qur an brings back to the moment he began establishing ethos with his stream of metaphors that explain the ripple effect. Although, this time, he uses a more positive tone in the sense that one good deed will lead to an infinite amount of good deeds. It s almost as if he carefully chose this reference and purposefully delivers it 10 minutes after making the stream of metaphors. Making a connection like that with a huge time gap is a very difficult task and requires a lot of eloquence, something that only Barack Obama and a few other speakers possess. Each part of the speech includes proof and refutation. For example, when Obama brings up the issue of Iraq, He provides the logical argument that America has the responsibilities of helping Iraq and leaving Iraq to Iraqis. The refutation occurs when he acknowledges nine eleven and how it led to reactions that were against traditional belief and made the promise to take troops out of Iraq by 2012. He also makes the promise to have Guantanamo Bay closed. These promises were big promises that received great attention. I consider the promise Obama made about bringing all troops back from Iraq by 2012 to be one of the most impactful promises that he made as a president because it affects nearly everyone s family and friends in the United States.
