Reflection Paper On Depression
Depression; A mental health disorder characterized by persistently depressed mood or loss of
interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life. At some point in our lives we
have all felt empty , hopeless or general discontent that lasts nearly every day, for weeks on end.
Some of us may even currently be in it today. Anxiety Disorders affects much our population.
Depression is the common coldof mental disorders, it affects a large population, unfortunately
only less than half are receiving help. Mexican parents do not accept that depression is a
medical condition. Growing up I encountered many things that made me feel empty and
hopeless. Looking back today at all the symptoms of depression I realize how many years I have
been dealing with this illness. I remember five year old me crying from seeing my mom get beat
by my father and feeling helpless. Eight year old me feeling alone because my parents had split
and I d never see my brother from that day forward. There were many different things that gave
me this feeling but nothing hurt more than the day my mother left me. That day I knew what it
was like to feel sad, alone, empty, restlessness, difficulty sleeping and so many more. Imagine
being eleven years old and going from having the ideal family to feeling completely alone in this
world? It was a horrible feeling. I suffered from it for many years, till this day I don t think I have
fully healed. I started doing Folklorico Dance and Aztec Dance at the age of eight. Coming from
a Hispanic household it was not common to talk about depression. According to an article
published by CNN, Latinos and whites in the U.S. were both at 60 percent. Yet, only 30 percent
of Latinos will consider or actually get help from a provider. Depression is common, it has been
around for many years. I don t think that Latino families necessarily have chosen to not accept
Depression as a mental disorder. I think that it has been disregarded because it is not an injury
you can physically see like a broken leg or bloody nose. Most of their concerns revolved around
what they would be eating that day. Growing up I used dancing to express my feelings. I feel like I
poured out all the negative in me in that

Cuba In The 16th Century
From the early 16th century to the mid 1900s, the nations of Europe scrambled to colonize the
untouched places of the world. Enamored by the promises of the Americas and the New World, the
European powers established settlements in unknown lands, transplanting their cultures and beliefs
with the hopes of securing precious resources and further expanding their empires. With
colonization often comes the displacement of a native people as well the utilization of slave
populations to provide manual labor and domestic servitude. The interaction between these groups,
some native, most implanted, effected new, uniquely blended cultures a process of transculturation.
Cuba (colonized by the Spanish in the early 16th century) became the birthplace... Show more

All the while, the African communities on the island, a majority congo with people of the Yoruba
and Dahomey cultures, managed to preserve large aspects of their cultures through calbidos, a word
meaning town council , permissible by the Spanish colonial authorities. These calbidos, each
specific to the a single ethnic group, behaved as mutual aid societies that supported the protection
and management of traditional culture, religion, history and music. Within the first generation of
the slave s presence in Cuba, conversation in their African languages had mostly died out, leaving
music as the primary vehicle for linguistic preservation (88). Song and music in the various
languages worked to reassemble the traditions of the transplanted people, perpetuating religious
practices and allowing the culture to survive through many generations. Centuries of their African
culture intertwining with Spanish customs gradually produced the unique traditions that came to
popularity in the late

Descriptive Essay On Florentine
New cookbook crush! Florentine: The True Cuisine of Florence by Emiko Davies
Beautiful pages brimming with life and history that weave around traditional recipes filled with
the aromas of Florence. A true cover to cover read, exactly the kind of cookbook that I eat up!
The marbleized cover that spills onto the pages is simply lovely and gives me a wistful affection
for both my second grade art class and the marble that graces the layers of Florence s architecture.
I remember my first brush with Florence, that precise moment when I planted my foot down
and a sudden awareness of belonging or mores so, a sensation of never wanting to leave in case I
were to miss something rushed over me. There was a sense of excitement, and familiarity, story
s told and untold. I stood in this fascinating place and felt the warmth of its embrace soak into
me, as history and charm dripped from its depths. I felt it was the kind of place where coziness
met with grandeur and solitude with chaos. I could feel my creativity flow as I felt captivated by
it s loveliness, tantalized by the aromas of leather, incense, rising dough and those yet to be
discovered.
The galleries and great halls of the Uffizi brimming with exceptional works of the Renaissance, the
chiseled physique of Michelangelo s David, a kiss on the Il Porcellino s snout to ensure my return to

Needless to say, this is a cookbook that I m sure I will go back to again and again. I m looking
forward to cooking: Frittata di Finocchio, Pappardelle all Anatra, Coniglio con le Olive, and a

Columbus Leadership Analysis
Being granted a statue in remembrance of being great is a very honorable achievement. But, what
makes someone deserving of being permanently recognized? There are many individuals that not
only contributed to the successful status of the town of Columbus, but also Columbus State
University. CSU could be considered the pride and joy of the town of Columbussome would even
say the town is really building itself around this school. Hypothetically if the school were to ask
who is the most deserving of a statue here on campus, how would one decide? You would really
have to ask yourself who really made dramatic change here? If one had to choose between the
candidates, John Townsend, who was the first black student here at CSU, Thomas Whitley, the

To make an impact on something or someone means to influence it or them in ways never; to
inspire change. Without a doubt, Frank was for the people, and was very courageous in his
attempts to show it. Frank not only developed just the physical aspects of the school but the
dynamics of the school through his beliefs and programs. Frank was a lobbyist for the
acceptance of blacks and other minorities. While he was president here at Columbus State, he
started many programs for minorities to bring them equal if not, better opportunities. Beginning
with his faculty, he started a project called, Minorities in Higher Education which brought
awareness to the lack of diversity in the teaching system. Another example of advocating for
minorities would be him starting the foreign exchange program here at CSU. Through this
program, he developed the school s variety of race and culture. He also started a program called
The New World Project which basically helped students get jobs right out of college, through
training classes. Another program he developed was the Servant Leadership program which
gave leaders of the school many opportunities to develop their character as well as a chance to
pay for some of their schooling. By Frank Brown putting in the effort for the school and its kid, he
depicts the type of person he was and where his values stood, which is truly in the people. A

Comparison Of Blake s Songs Of Innocence And Songs Of...
When regarding the different options I had in comparing two of the works we have already read
this semester, my mind automatically went to William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs
of Experience. Blake s examination of the duality of a single subject s nature lends itself
perfectly to a close reading such as this. When looking at the different options available to me in
Blake s volumes, Holy Thursday (both the Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience
versions) demonstrated this duality clearly. The subject in Holy Thursday stays the same,
however, the nature of the subject is drastically different in each poem. In both Songs of
Innocence and Songs of Experience, the poem titled Holy Thursday occurs on Holy Thursday.
This was a special service at St. Paul s Cathedral in London, which was held on the first Thursday
in May. The tradition started in 1782, and this special service was held for the poorest children in
London. These children would be brought to the church by their parish officers, serving
approximately six thousand children. Both poems focus on this procession of children to the
cathedral, describing the state of the children and the varying attitudes towards the event itself.
These varying attitudes are what divides these poems that are so similar in content to two
drastically different creations. In Songs of Innocence, Holy Thursday opens with a picture of a
bright, cheery, and exciting event. Blake chooses crisp and clear language to describe the

Spanish Baby Names Essay
Since the day when you first know what is your name? You were surely thought about what does
that mean and from where it is originated. Meaning and origin of your name are vital; there are
many versatile names origins all across the globe. If you would like to find out the meaning or
origin of any of the names, you can simply search over the internet, as there are some sites that
could tell from where your name has been originated. Chinese baby names have become appealing
to many American parents in the recent years because they sound beautiful and typically have
beautiful meanings too. In addition, they are very rare but this probably will not be the case for

Persuasive Chocolate Milk Essay
Chocolate milk should be served in cafeterias. Schools should provide it as an option for students
because it has many nutrients. Kids who drink chocolate milk do not consume more sugar or other
harmful substances. Chocolate milk helps kids get the three daily servings of dairy. Cafeterias
should serve chocolate milk. One reason chocolate milk is a nourishing choice is it has many
nutrients. For example, a bottle or carton of chocolate milk contains the perfect ratio of protein and
carbohydrates. The combination replenishes tired muscles. This shows that chocolate milk is a
great drink for athletes. As Melissa Dobbins, a nutritionist, says, The fact is, that chocolate and

Mr. Bennett s Quit Seriously And Began Taking Action...
It appears Mary has taken Mr. Bennett s situation quit seriously and began taking action
immediately. I appreciate that she spoke with the boys in question first thing Monday morning,
however it is unclear as to whether she spoke to the boys as a group or individually. In my
experience, I cannot remember a situation where I was unable to get to the truth when I spoke to
students one on one. She should have invited the Deanof Students into the conversation and
appealed to each studentseparately. I would refer to our school s root belief, We are the Body of
Christ and remind each student that as a school community we aim to act as Christ s body and
should always be encouraging one another to do so. We also must stand up for someone who is
being mistreated, as Christ often did. I believe that within the group of boys, at least one of them
would have been uneasy with the treatment of the teacher or the comments that were allegedly
made, making it easier to get to the truth.
Given the scenario at this point, Mary has gotten no confirmation from the boys that anything was
ever said, but Kyle did admit, Everyone knew that Mr. Bennett was gay. This comment alone would
motivate me to contact Kyle s parents. I would invite them in to discuss this matter, along with
Kyle and the Dean of Students after school. I would begin by giving Kyle s parents general
background information about Mr. Bennett, including that he is respected by his fellow staff
members for his commitment to

Government Privacy Analysis
How much do you know about the American government? Does the government respect the
privacy of their citizens? Is the government violating Americans privacy? In 2013 a guy named
Edward Snowden released government files that prove that the government has a file for every
cell phone in America. Meaning that every text message, photo, phone call, email, etc is being
recorded, making it easier for the government to track down anyone that they want. Americans
privacy is being violated very similarly to the privacy violations in 1984, a novel written by George
Orwell. In the present day and in 1984 people could be easily tracked down and are being watched
every second, of every day. Personally I believe that the privacy shouldn t be violated for... Show

If anyone ever started to act suspicious or do unusual activity, the FBI will then pull up that
person s cell phone file, and review every text message, phone call, email, etc. Thanks to a guy
named Edward Snowden these files were released to show everyone the secret activity the
government does behind the people s backs. Edward Snowden worked for the NSA and had many
important roles. When Snowden came across these files he felt the need the documents because he
believed that these types of decisions should be determined by the public. And just like Edward
Snowden I do strongly believe that the government should not have made the decision of recording
private information without notifying us, the citizens. Even though these actions are meant to
protect and to prevent, however this is a total violation of privacy which is not ok.
In conclusion, every person with a cellular device does have a file that the government has just
in case. Cell phones are losing it s original purpose and should now be considered a tracking
device. If the government kept this secret, who knows what else they could be hiding. Personally
it s frightening to know that the government knows where you are, who you were with, how long
you were with that person, and when you went back home. Just like in 1984 you never know when

In Jon Hassler s Grand Opening, Catherine Foster understands what is righteous, but does not have
the means to obtain it. Catherine Foster is a very intelligent and political person for her era and
that scares people because she is a woman. As she went to expand her knowledge further she met

Everyone in town realizes Dodger wasn t Catholic and they will refuse to have his funeral at the
Catholic church. Catherine however does not care, she loved Dodger as if he were own child
almost. Catherine only wants to have a lovely funeral for the poor boy at her nice church instead
of the Undertakers. Humans often take feel generous towards the dead, that is as long as they
respect the dead. It seems only natural to want the best for a death struck loved one, and who
would be right to refuse a grieving person s request?
Catherine Foster can only try to do what she knows is right for every living human she can help,
but even though she tries, she lacks the ability to do all that she sees fit to be done. If Catherine
lived in today s time she would have had the power to give to whomever she see fit to receive and
she would be accepted and even celebrated for her gift of intellect. Catherine is a very good

Viking Funeral Essay
A Viking funeral is unlike any funeral that the modern individual is used too. According to Ibn
Fadlan, author of Ibn Fadlan s Account of Viking in Early Russia, an article that narrates a
Viking funeral from an outside perspective, that shows how ritualistic and sacred a Viking
funeral is. Fadlan presents this account by explaining the descriptive process of the funeral of a
Viking from an outside perspective. This paper will be a brief summary and opinion on the
funeral of a Viking. Vikings come from their own country, and they anchor their ships on the River
Volga where they build large wooden houses. In every house lives ten to twenty people, give or

and the most important part, the slaying of the girl who agreed to die with her master. Near him in
the grave they had placed strong drinks, and fruits. They now clothed him in drawers, leggings,

made of cloth of gold, trimmed with sable. The Viking was dressed very well, to honor and
respect him. That is something that society today can relate too, since we dress our dead in suits
and other things to respect their passing. After the dressing they finally carried him and placed

Then they brought a dog, which they in two, and threw into the ship... They also laid all his

Does The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas And How Does It...
One of the most prevalent unanswered questions that readers have about The Ones Who Walk
Away from Omelas is where is the place that those who walk away are going to (Scoville 2016).
In the story, the narrator themselves cannot even perceive this place. They leave Omelas, they
walk ahead into the darkness, and they do not come back. The place they go towards is a place
even less imaginable to most of us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is
possible that it does not exist. But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk
away from Omelas (LeGuin 8). LeGuin states that those who leave the town of Omelas walk ahead
into the darkness (8), which further conveys how unfathomable this unknown place is... Show more

It is so thin there are no calves to its legs; its belly protrudes; it lives on a half bowl of corn meal
and grease a day. It is naked. Its buttocks and thighs are a mass of festered sores, as it sits in its
own excrement continually. They all know it is there, all the people of Omelas (LeGuin 7). It is
revealed to readers that all of the citizens of Omelas know of this child being stored in a murky
dirty cellar. Due to this fact and how the people of Omelas do nothing to help the child verifies
the existence of evil in the new story world the narrator has crafted (Posella 3). Additionally, this
is an unmistakable act of evil and selfishness made by the people of Omelas to let such a horrid
event occur, the suffering of one child for the happiness of all, which is the devil s bargain in
this story (Scoville 2016). Thus, the main inquiry concerning this is why must the town of
Omelas be built this way. One reason that the narrator abandons an ideal perfect story world and
goes into one full of evil instead is due to the notion that evil is interesting to individuals and that
readers want to hear about such brutality like a child be inhumanely treated (Scoville 2016).
However, this idea is overly generalized and does not apply to everyone (Posella 3). Another
reason may be that, in relation to real life, even though the world may seem perfect, people still
suffer. While the majority are aware of this, they still continue on with their lives as long as they

Assess the Changing Methods and Contributions of...
Over the past centuries, since its discovery in 1749, many archaeologists have contributed to our
understanding of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Archaeologists were initially focused on excavating,
most of which were improperly done causing extensive damage. It wasn t until the 19th century,
when archaeologist Giuseppe Fiorelliintroduced new excavation methods; those succeeded him

conservations and restorations which are reflected in the works of Fausto Zevi and Pier Guzzo.

Spinazzola introduced photography to record the stages of his excavation, an example of a
conservation technique. His work enables us to learn about the streetscapes of Pompeii.
Amendo Maiuri grand vision was to reconstruct the entire site to its original appearance. He
excavated right around the walls of Pompeii, uncovering the cemetery as well as significant
buildings eg. insulaes along the via dell Abbondanza, the amphitheatre and the palaestra. Maiuri
used mechanical equipment to clear away debris from earlier excavations and to assist in areas that
previously had been considered too hard to excavate. As part of conservation, Maiuri restored the
walls and ceilings and erected roofs for protection. However, he was criticized for excavations that
were done too quickly with little documentation. Some excavated buildings were unprotected and
wall paintings faded without ever being recorded. However, Maiuri s great enthusiasm for the site
and the important buildings he uncovered, attracted many tourists and made Pompeii well known
internationally.
Following 1977, Fausto Zevi halted excavations and started focusing on conservations instead as
both Pompeii and Herculaneum were dying a second death due to improper excavations exposure to
natural elements. Zevi recorded the uncovered buildings and took many photographs, resulting in
over 1800 photos.
In 1995, Pier Guzzo oversaw many restoration developments.

Culture Of Kuwait Culture
Kuwait Culture The term culture is one of those words that we use routinely, but what is it exactly?
Basically, culture is the multipart overall of a society which includes everything that gives a society
an identity. Culture may consist of customs, languages, and religion beliefs amid other
characteristics that are ordinary to people of a nation/region. What is predominantly interesting
about cultures is that each culture, no matter where it is located, shares at least five basic
characteristics. However, every culture has its own distinct characteristics that differentiate it from
the others. One of such cultures is the Kuwaitculture. This culture awareness essay will attempt to

Technology Into Early Childhood Education
Matters to Consider when introducing Technology into Early Childhood Education
Introduction
Earlier research was more concerned with weather or not technology; including computers were, in
fact, beneficial to children s learning. Current research is concerned with how technology can be

It needs to be acknowledged that technology and media are social icons, and, most importantly,
children are active consumers of these products (Weddell, 2001). There is little wonder why
technology is being viewed as becoming, if not already, common place in the educational setting.
Zevenbergen (2010, p. 1) states, This generation has been immersed in technology since their
emergence into the world. Their homes have computer technology in all facets of gadgetry the
remote control for the television, the programmable microwave, the mobile phone computers,
digital games (such as Xbox, as well as those on the computer) .
Early childhood is a period of growth and rapid development. During this time, many children
attend preschool, where they have access to technology as a learning tool (Chen amp; Couse,
2010). There is increasing interest and belief in the need to start this education [technology] at an
earlier age, possibly as soon as children begin formal schooling or even nursery school or
kindergarten (Stables, 1997). In a survey conducted by Flynn et, al. (2010), the results showed more
than half of the educators surveyed think that children should be introduced to technology between
ages 3 and 4. Perhaps one reason the findings would indicate this is due to the motivational

The Importance Of Commercial Space Exploration
Since the mid twentieth century, people have had a desire to explore different aspects of space.
The space race between the United States of America and Russia was the height of space
exploration. Now with modern interest in the colonization of Mars, the desire to explore space has,
again, increased with 20 licensed launches in America in the 2017 calendar year according to the
Federal Aviation Administration ( Commercial Space Data ). Different countries still express
interest in exploring space, but commercial space explorationhas become popular since the 2000 s.
American organizations have to adhere to regulations of the FAA, the government organization that
provides licenses and permits to enter into space. Many current pieces of legislation, which have

London By George Eliot And Monet s The House Of...
London, England s capital, is one of the top twenty five largest cities in the world, located on the
River Thames with a history reaching all the way back to Roman times. From the London Eye and
Big Ben to the Albert and Victoria Memorial and Buckingham Palace, there is an abundance of
adventures to journey on in the prodigious city of London. Despite all the fascinating monuments
and architecture there is to see, London has the reputation of constantly being gloomy and raining.
With this reputation, there is plenty of artwork that resembles the image of gloomy, large London.
Three pieces of artwork that resemble the gloomy and large qualities of London are In a London
Drawing Room by George Eliot, A London Thoroughfare. 2 AM by Amy Lowell, and Monet s The
House of Parliament, sunset (1903).
Eliot s painting of London represents the vast city as isolated and extremely gloomy, where no
bird can make a shadow as it flies as a result of the immense amount of fog floating in the air.
Here, London is depicted as a lonely and isolated city when Eliot says, All hurry on look upon the
ground, / Or glance unmarking at the passers by / The wheels are hurrying too, cabs, carriages
/ All closed, in multiplied identity. With the millions of people breathing in London, it is still an
empty city where people do not recognize one another and do not form the effort to conceive new
relationships. In this sentence, it construes what giant cities are like; filled with independent

Social Anxiety
Social anxiety is defined by the social anxiety institute as the fear of being judged and evaluaded
negatively by other people. . The disorder is not just simply feeling uncomfortable in certain
social situations, which is fairly common. This disorder could easily be misused to describe
shyness or the actions of someone who s an introvert. Shyness does not affect someone s life the
same way social anxietydoes. Social anxiety is actually extreme social phobia and could
ultimately ruin someone s life. When people suffer from this disorder, they may not even be able
to do something as simple as going to the grocery store because they are so fearful of what others
think of them. About 15 million Americans suffer from social anxiety. This disorder

Having social anxiety can also cause someone to develop other mental disorders such as
depression, suicidal tendencies, anorexia, bulimia, etc. People suffering from this disorder can
sometimes go to cognitive behavioral therapy or group therapy. By going to CBT, people with
this disorder can begin to overcome their anxiety and fear of social interactions. Another way
people find or receive treatment is by taking medications prescribed to them by a doctor or
psychiatrist. But, even with ways to eliminate social anxiety, it can be difficult for those
suffering to go put and seek help. Many times, people who genuinely suffer from this disorder
never get the help they need because they are so afraid of social interactions that it s difficult for
them to make an appointment and speak to a doctor. In addition, not all disorders are the same
and there s no guarantee that a certain treatment that worked for one person can work for another.
Thus, the best way to treat social anxiety disorder is to seek a doctor who can refer you to
whichever treatment will work best for

What Led Italy To War In 1914
WWI was a huge time period not only in European history but the world s history because it was
the first major conflict involving different countries at one time. The war sparked nations to
develop their armies and society so that in preceding life they will be viewed as a hierarchy to
others. In this investigation Italy will be the focusing country and why they went to war in 1915.
So what were the key motives that led Italy to join WWI in 1915? Before choosing the preceding
two sources, secondary and primary sources including websites, treaties, and documents were found
on the question above however, none had a lot of significance to answering the question provided.

This did not work however because I quickly learned that there wasn t many articles, and or

sources for a deeper analysis because there would be more facts to support your thesis. It is
somewhat challenging for an historian to find primary sources and along with that secondary
sources because I found that some may have been edited and given false information making it
challenging for an historian to find very valuable information from secondary sources that haven
t maybe been edited leading to false data. With that being said historians are able to make their
lives much easier by finding primary sources because they are taken from the time of the event
meaning that it would be very hard to know if the source had been edited meaning that it is a
reliable source to use. After looking at some sources it was clear that I was presented with more
facts from secondary sources and less perspectives from primary sources making the job a whole
lot harder to get the perspectives from others at the time of the event. On the topic of primary
sources I would like to add that primary sources

Spanked Children Research Paper
Agree or Disagree: Children should not be spanked in order to discipline them for a negative
behavior
Today, in the era of human rights, while the rights of children are officially recognized by
international bodies, corporal punishment have not disappeared. According to a survey conducted
in 2005 by the School of Psychology on behalf of UNICEF, violence against children worldwide
spares no social category: it is present in the streets, in charitable institutions, of course, in the
family. It appears indeed concluded this inquiry as an educational method and a culturally accepted
way of social regulation. According to the same study, many parents admitted beating their children,

We will find in the spanked kids a physical and verbal form of aggression against others: classmate,
family members, friends etc... it is like an expression of all frustration accumulated by spanked and
frustrated child. Another study published in the Akron Law Review examined criminal records and
found that children raised where a legal ban on parental corporal punishment is in effect are much
more likely to be involved in crime. When kids and spanked or abuse in their childhood are
spanked, they develop a hatred. The immediate consequence in their adolescence is physical
aggression. It is the most common in the adolescent behavior and are likely to result in physical
injury. The most extreme form of violence is a homicide. Thus, fights involving weapons and
fights by teenagers old enough to be able to inflict serious injuries are what see in the street
every day. So finally spanked kids destroy them more than it help them to behave as parents
would like to. It is why it is better to choose a different way to help kids to understand and to
learn what is acceptable and what is not. In fact Dozens of countries have banned parental
corporal punishment, such as Germany, Italy, and in 2007 New Zealand, which use force to
correct children causes complete criminal penalties, and where the mother cannot even legally
take the hand of her child to bring it where it refuses to go. And according to Krisha McCoy,
discipline is a way of teaching children the restraint and values necessary to become competent
and independent adults. When our child behaves negatively, the best way to teach him the positive
behavior should be for example to explain what is wrong in his behavior, then explain or show
with examples what is better to do. Also and the explanation of the reasons of positive behaviors

Double Jeopardy In The Criminal Justice Act 2003
The legal issues that can be determined from the question is the validity of the double jeopardy
principle based on the amendments in the Criminal Justice Act 2003. The question also seeks to
evaluate the impact of the amendments on the system of justice in England and Wales.
In lay terms, double jeopardy means placing someone on trial a second time for an offense for which
he/she has been previously acquitted, even when new incriminating evidence has been unearthed.
Athenian statesman and philosopher Demosthenes was one of the earliest to conceptualise the
double jeopardy principle when he stated in 355 BC, The law forbids the same man to be tried

Oliver Twist By Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens, the author of Oliver Twist. Charles Dickens was born on February 7th, 1812 in
Landport, England, and then died on June 9th, 1870 in Kent, England. In his 58 years of life he
made a collection of books that are still famous today; although it was not until 1836 that he
started to come to fame when he published The Pickwick Papers. One of the many books he
published was Oliver Twist and this story was one that he related too, because like this story
Dickens had little education as a child and had to work as a child after his father was thrown into
prison; however like the story goes he did not give up and made the most out of the life that he
had ( Life of Charles Dickens). The book Oliver Twist is a story about a young boy named Oliver
Twist. Oliver is an orphan that everyone sees as a nuisance that is too naive to ever be more
than just a hungry little boy. Unfortunately Oliver was abused from everyone that was older or in
a higher ranking position than him, however, this was not uncommon almost every poor person
was abused by the middle class or anyone that had more than an empty stomach to their name.
Just like the different types of classes that are present today in this book, they had the same four
classes then the upper class, middle class, working class, and the lower class; and each one of
these classes influenced the world differently. An example of the upper class in Oliver Twist is The

The Positive Benefits Of The Electric Car
The electric car is an innovation that has been around for decades, yet people seem reluctant to
follow the trend. Electric car sales have not thrived on their own. According to Alissa Walker s
article, Car Ownership May Decrease in the U.S. Here s Why , electric cars make up an estimate
one percent of all cars currently owned in the United States. Changing policies will help us move
in a new direction towards the electric car. Countries like India, France, and Britain are setting
laws that ban the sale of internal combustion cars, which are cars powered by gasoline (Glinton).
Countries are already placing policies that can help increase electric car sales and help it
become a trend. Consumers are not willing to invest money into an innovation that is relatively
new and different. It is important to tell these consumers the positive benefits of the electric car.
Electric cars are a much better alternative, so more research and funding should go into
promoting the electric car and increasing sales. It is important to address the problems the
electric car has, so that improvements can be made. Consumer s negative opinions play a big part
on whether the electric car sales increase or not. Electric car sales can increase through improving
the electric car internally and externally, by increasing the amount of charging stations available,
by providing government incentives, training car salesmen, and by promoting awareness of the
positive benefits the electric car can provide. So why should we invest in improving electric car
sales? The benefits of electric cars seem endless. According to Ergon Energy, a government owned
corporation, a couple reasons why consumers should consider the electric car as their mode of
transportation because it is cheaper to run, cheaper to maintain compared to the petrol/diesel car.
There are many different parts of the car that are not needed that are used in internal combustion
cars like, expensive exhaust systems, starter motors, fuel injection systems, radiators, and many
other parts that are not needed in an electric vehicle(Benefits of Electric Cars). When consumers
drive an electric vehicle, they are contributing to the reduction of air pollution. Electric vehicles are

First, E learning is not a fair way to get our education from. E learning could abuse student. The
abuse that the student will face from the E learning shows that this kind of learning is not useful.
For example, E learning does not have any trustiness. Any student could get high greed in E

American Companies Are Good For Business
Introduction:
As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, American companies have been expanding their
businesses overseas, seeking new markets and new investment opportunities. These companies are
seeking countries with a high GDP, strategic location, and a growing urban middle class. GDP, or
gross domestic product, is the sum of value added by resident firms, households, and governments
operating in an economy (Peng, 2016, pg. 5). Since GDP is an important measure of economic
growth, nations with high GDP are seen as desirable markets in which to expand by companies
seeking to grow their business overseas. These companies are also seeking countries with an
accessible and advantageous location, as strategic location is imperative to facilitate ease in
trading. Countries with a convenient location relative to the United States are good for business
because of the low costs of transporting goods and because proximity between trade partners has
the potential to stimulate trade. Lastly, a growing urban middle class typically equates with a
growing economy. Historically, the middle class successfully amasses the most capital, be it
physical (such as property) or human (such as education). This accumulation of resources by the
middle class then increases the country s overall GDP (Pezzini, 2012, OECD). A large urban
middle class is also indicative of a politically stable country, since the majority of people have
access to the goods and services they need and are thus less

The Significance Of Statutory Interpretation
Statutory interpretation can be required when there is complexity of uncertainty arises when judges
interpret the law. There are several instances where a judge may call for statues to be interpreted.
For example, when there is failure in legislation on a particular point such as, change in the use of
language. When there is a form of ambiguity in the statue it can lead to a dispute. Mean a dispute
can arise when a statue can have more than one meaning which, could affect the outcome of a case
dependent on which meaning they use to interpret the statue. However, statue in the 18th century,
used words which has different meanings. Which, was illustrated in the case of Cheeseman v DPP.
The defendant was witnessed masturbating in public toilet by the police officers. However, Under
The Town Police Clauses Act 1847 , stated that they must be a passenger. On the other hand, The
Public Health Amendment Act 1902, stated that the word, street could mean any public places
under the control of local authority which were the police officers. The Police Clauses Act stated
the word, passenger could have different meanings but, in this case they believed that it could mean
a, foot passenger also, the police were not travelling at the time they saw the defendant and he could
not be arrested under these circumstances. This shows that there can be ambiguity interpreting
statutes because, there was a form of lexical and structural ambiguity interpreting which resulted in

Developing A Performance Appraisal System In order for the design and administration of a

roles in an organization that s geared towards achieving the company s goals and mission.

Different Approaches According to Allan amp; Rosenberg (1981), the system should be based
on behavior results; not ambiguous employee characteristics. The appraisals should be reviewed
by higher level managers or human resource manager; there should be a formal appeal
mechanism or system providing an avenue of appeal to employees who are dissatisfied with
their evaluations; and performing counseling, guidance and or training should be provided to
help poor performers improve their performance. Supervisors need to know his or her workers, so
that he or she has opportunities to steer them towards greater productivity and optimized output.
The steps supervisors must take to ensure successful evaluation, and constructive outcomes are:
(1) Training (2) Evaluation (3) Review Successful training is the implementation of a system in

The Importance of Literacy Essay
Is it important to be a literate person in today s society? The ability to function well depends on
whether or not a person is literate and can comprehend what is going on around them. If a person

their illiteracy. Illiteracy is a big problem because without the knowledgeof reading, illiterate people

minutes may be the defining of their lives. As an example, I will talk briefly about my cousin,
born into a broken home and forced to deal with illiteracy on a daily basis. Steven was brought
up in a bad neighborhood and raised by the streets. His family simply didn t care about anything
other than how they would afford their next bottle of booze or pack of cigarettes. Growing up, he

in his younger years took its toll on him by the time he hit high school. Living in a bad

After dropping out of high school in his sophomore year, Steven attempted to get a job, but
without a diploma or a license this was just close to impossible for him. In desperate need of a

knew how. After several months, he was living the good life, until the day came that changed his
life forever. He ended up selling drugs to an undercover police officer and was sent to jail for three

The Book of Job is one of the most thoughtful and wonderful pieces of literature that has ever

The Collapse Of The Soviet Union And President Vladimir Putin

Pacifism And Anabaptism In The 16th Century Europe
Introduction Life in 16th century Europe was short, difficult and tumultuous. One hundred years
after Luther started the Protestant Reformation by nailing his 95 thesis to the door of the
Wittenberg church, religious and state relationships were ever shifting and evolving. Traditions and
beliefs were being threatened by new discoveries and schools of thought while those with
contradicting beliefs were singled out for persecution. Food and shelter were not guaranteed,
especially for the poor, and disease and war were an ever looming dark cloud of death and
destruction. The members of the newly developing religious group called Anabaptism were often
the main target of persecution and were faced with the options of migrating, recanting and most
harshly, execution. They had many reasons and opportunities to resist and revolt using violent
measures, as was customary at the time, but instead they held fast in their pacifistic beliefs,
rejecting any and all violence. The 16th century Anabaptists demonstrated their dedication to
pacifismeven when challenged with scripture that opposed their beliefs, persecution and war.
Definition of Pacifism Anabaptists were often described as pacifists due to their rejection of the
sword and opposition to violence. However, it is important to note that pacifism is a moderately
new term, coined in the 20th century and that their beliefs are perhaps better explained using the
terms absolute pacifism and nonresistance, or Gewaltlosigkeit in German. Pacifism is [t]he belief
that war and violence are unjustifiable and that all disputes should be settled by peaceful means.
It can be seen as an active stance against violence, specifically war, to settle disputes, whereas
non resistance implies a passive stance, avoiding involvement in any form of violence or event
that could lead to violence. Pacifism can be religious or non religious, political or not, and is
anchored largely in a basic belief in the goodness and perfectibility of man and the reformability of
the general human society on rational grounds. On the other hand, nonresistance is seen as an
outward manifestation of the peace of God within the soul, and is the peace of God applied to our
relation with our fellow man.

contributed to Hayward as early as 1905 and in 1956 to John Dewey (O Neill and McMahon, n.d.).
The student centered model is driven by a need for a change in the traditional educational

The Latino And Latino Community
The Hispanic/Latino community has been known to be underrepresented on college campuses, both
at the community college and four year university level. Factors such as low income households,
poor or harsh living conditions, under educated parents, cultural and family commitments, and
unfamiliarity with the collegeprocess, all serve as unfortunate barriers that keep Hispanic/Latino
students from reaching the goal of attaining college degrees. Although these barriers keep many
students from succeeding, many others overcome these obstacles and continue on their paths to
creating a better future for themselves. They choose to look past the expectations that society has
for them and break out of the stereotypical mold. However, Hispanic/Latino students face, yet,
another challenge upon successfully making it on to a college campus... the challenge of graduating.
Regardless of the type of institution, retention is one of the biggest issues that colleges encounter
with the Hispanic/Latino population. The question has been posed for quite some time: What can
colleges do to, not only keep these students on campus, but also to prepare them for the challenges
they may face when transferring to a four year school? Various programs on college campuses
across the state of California have been implemented in the past couple of decades to help address
this question. The existence of such programs, like Educational Opportunity Program (EOP),
contribute to the academic success of the

Hard Work In Odysseus
Many think their work is physically straining, yet, none compares to what Atlas demonstrates. Atlas
gives new meaning to the definition of hard work. Throughout his position of tenure, Atlas has
simultaneously exhibited the power of stupidity. His exhibition of stupidity is almost as powerful
as his demonstration of extreme intelligence. Atlas, a titanwho received the worst punishment of all
from the Olympians, holds the worst possible type of tenure. When the word tenure is brought up,
many immediately think about a highly successful, brilliant professor, at a prestigious university
who welcomes the opportunity to be guaranteed a top job for life. Tenure is a curse for Atlas. Being
stuck, holding up the world for eternity. When Atlas ultimately... Show more content on

Atlas values people being responsible for their own actions, rather than relying on others, so his
tendency would want the couple to handle their problems on their own. Atlas puts emphasis on
doing the actions himself throughout his encounter with the Herculean Hercules, by belaboring the
fact that he himself would take the apples to Eurysteus. Conversely, the couple is relying on the
gods to use a spell, instead of handling their own problems. Atlas does not support that the couple
relies upon the gods, and clearly makes his decision and vote based on his values. Therefore, he
definitely does not support casting any sort of

John Philip Sousa
John Philip Sousa
Fine Arts Musical Online
1/30/2012
John Philip Sousa was an American composer and conductor of the late Romantic era. Sousa was
born in Washington, D.C. on November 6, 1854, to John Antonio Sousa and Maria Elisabeth
Trinkhaus. Born of both Portuguese and Bavarian ancestry. His father was Portuguese, and his
mother of Bavarian ancestry. Sousa started his music education by playing the violin as a pupil of
John Esputa and George Felix Benkert for harmony and musical composition at the age of six. At
this time he also began studying voice, violin, piano, flute, cornet, baritone, trombone and alto horn.
He was found to have absolute pitch. When Sousa reached the age of 13, his father, a trombonist in

In Paris, the Sousa Band marched through the streets including the Champs Г‰lysГ©es to the Arc
de Triomphe one of only eight parades the band marched in over its forty years.
In 1898 Sousa made several suggestions to J.W. Pepper, a Philadelphia instrument maker, to
recreate the sousaphone (a modified helicon) that he had originally created. Sousa wanted a tuba
that could sound upward and over the band whenever its player was seated or marching.
Sousa wrote 136 marches, published by the Sam Fox Publishing Company beginning in 1917 and
continuing until his death. Of these 136 marches, Sousa wrote marches for several American
universities, including University of Illinois, University of Nebraska, Kansas State University,
Marquette University, and University of Minnesota.
Some of the most popular marches Sousa wrote included Semper Fidelis (1888) (Official March of
the United States Marine Corps), Stars and Stripes Forever (1896) (National March of the United
States), Hands Across the Sea (dedicated to the band of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets the
Highty Tighties) (1899), U.S. Field Artillery (1917) (Modified version The Army Goes Rolling
Along is the official song of the U.S. Army), and Salvation Army March (1930) (dedicated to The
Salvation Army s 50th anniversary in the USA).
On December 30, 1879, Sousa married Jane van Middlesworth Bellis (1862 1944). They had three
children together: John Philip, Jr. (April 1, 1881

The Discovery Of A Fossil Specimen
After so many years of searching and excavating, my partners and I have discovered our first
hominin fossil. After all the digging, cleaning, and cataloging of hominin discoveries is complete,
we begin to start analyzing mysterious specimen #6. It looked a lot like a modern human but the
skull features is slightly different and the molars is quite large. From what we have noticed at first
sight, the incisors, canines and the premolars of the specimen are missing. Without analyzing and
measuring the teeths, it would make our job a bit difficult, but there is always alternative route to
analyze this mysterious specimen.
My partners and I shared each other hypotheses about mysterious specimen #6 that were trying to
figure it out. We observed every little feature that the specimen have and we re not were not sure
what hominin it is, we first guessed that this specimen is just another known fossil species in the
human lineage or it could be a new fossil species in the human lineage. Our main hypothesis that
were trying to find the answer is mysterious specimen #6 is a previous human species before
modern humans today, and How long does mysterious specimen #6 live? There are so many
questions about mysterious specimen #6 and were we going to get to the bottom of this by
analyzing the skull features, measuring the specimen with special tools and compare and contrast
to all hominin from the past to see anything similar and related to mysterious specimen #6.

  • 2. Reflection Paper On Depression Depression; A mental health disorder characterized by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life. At some point in our lives we have all felt empty , hopeless or general discontent that lasts nearly every day, for weeks on end. Some of us may even currently be in it today. Anxiety Disorders affects much our population. Depression is the common coldof mental disorders, it affects a large population, unfortunately only less than half are receiving help. Mexican parents do not accept that depression is a medical condition. Growing up I encountered many things that made me feel empty and hopeless. Looking back today at all the symptoms of depression I realize how many years I have been dealing with this illness. I remember five year old me crying from seeing my mom get beat by my father and feeling helpless. Eight year old me feeling alone because my parents had split and I d never see my brother from that day forward. There were many different things that gave me this feeling but nothing hurt more than the day my mother left me. That day I knew what it was like to feel sad, alone, empty, restlessness, difficulty sleeping and so many more. Imagine being eleven years old and going from having the ideal family to feeling completely alone in this world? It was a horrible feeling. I suffered from it for many years, till this day I don t think I have fully healed. I started doing Folklorico Dance and Aztec Dance at the age of eight. Coming from a Hispanic household it was not common to talk about depression. According to an article published by CNN, Latinos and whites in the U.S. were both at 60 percent. Yet, only 30 percent of Latinos will consider or actually get help from a provider. Depression is common, it has been around for many years. I don t think that Latino families necessarily have chosen to not accept Depression as a mental disorder. I think that it has been disregarded because it is not an injury you can physically see like a broken leg or bloody nose. Most of their concerns revolved around what they would be eating that day. Growing up I used dancing to express my feelings. I feel like I poured out all the negative in me in that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cuba In The 16th Century From the early 16th century to the mid 1900s, the nations of Europe scrambled to colonize the untouched places of the world. Enamored by the promises of the Americas and the New World, the European powers established settlements in unknown lands, transplanting their cultures and beliefs with the hopes of securing precious resources and further expanding their empires. With colonization often comes the displacement of a native people as well the utilization of slave populations to provide manual labor and domestic servitude. The interaction between these groups, some native, most implanted, effected new, uniquely blended cultures a process of transculturation. All the while, the African communities on the island, a majority congo with people of the Yoruba and Dahomey cultures, managed to preserve large aspects of their cultures through calbidos, a word meaning town council , permissible by the Spanish colonial authorities. Within the first generation of the slave s presence in Cuba, conversation in their African languages had mostly died out, leaving music as the primary vehicle for linguistic preservation (88). Song and music in the various languages worked to reassemble the traditions of the transplanted people, perpetuating religious practices and allowing the culture to survive through many generations. Florentine: The True Cuisine of Florence by Emiko Davies Beautiful pages brimming with life and history that weave around traditional recipes filled with the aromas of Florence. A true cover to cover read, exactly the kind of cookbook that I eat up! The marbleized cover that spills onto the pages is simply lovely and gives me a wistful affection for both my second grade art class and the marble that graces the layers of Florence s architecture. I remember my first brush with Florence, that precise moment when I planted my foot down and a sudden awareness of belonging or mores so, a sensation of never wanting to leave in case I were to miss something rushed over me. There was a sense of excitement, and familiarity, story s told and untold. I stood in this fascinating place and felt the warmth of its embrace soak into me, as history and charm dripped from its depths. I felt it was the kind of place where coziness met with grandeur and solitude with chaos. I could feel my creativity flow as I felt captivated by it s loveliness, tantalized by the aromas of leather, incense, rising dough and those yet to be discovered. The galleries and great halls of the Uffizi brimming with exceptional works of the Renaissance, the chiseled physique of Michelangelo s David, a kiss on the Il Porcellino s snout to ensure my return to ... • 7. Comparison Of Blake s Songs Of Innocence And Songs Of... When regarding the different options I had in comparing two of the works we have already read this semester, my mind automatically went to William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. Blake s examination of the duality of a single subject s nature lends itself perfectly to a close reading such as this. When looking at the different options available to me in Blake s volumes, Holy Thursday (both the Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience versions) demonstrated this duality clearly. The subject in Holy Thursday stays the same, however, the nature of the subject is drastically different in each poem. In both Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, the poem titled Holy Thursday occurs on Holy Thursday. This was a special service at St. Paul s Cathedral in London, which was held on the first Thursday in May. The tradition started in 1782, and this special service was held for the poorest children in London. These children would be brought to the church by their parish officers, serving approximately six thousand children. Both poems focus on this procession of children to the cathedral, describing the state of the children and the varying attitudes towards the event itself. These varying attitudes are what divides these poems that are so similar in content to two drastically different creations. In Songs of Innocence, Holy Thursday opens with a picture of a bright, cheery, and exciting event. Blake chooses crisp and clear language to describe the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I appreciate that she spoke with the boys in question first thing Monday morning, however it is unclear as to whether she spoke to the boys as a group or individually. In my experience, I cannot remember a situation where I was unable to get to the truth when I spoke to students one on one. She should have invited the Deanof Students into the conversation and appealed to each studentseparately. I would refer to our school s root belief, We are the Body of Christ and remind each student that as a school community we aim to act as Christ s body and should always be encouraging one another to do so. We also must stand up for someone who is being mistreated, as Christ often did. I believe that within the group of boys, at least one of them would have been uneasy with the treatment of the teacher or the comments that were allegedly made, making it easier to get to the truth. Given the scenario at this point, Mary has gotten no confirmation from the boys that anything was ever said, but Kyle did admit, Everyone knew that Mr. Bennett was gay. This comment alone would motivate me to contact Kyle s parents. I would invite them in to discuss this matter, along with Kyle and the Dean of Students after school. Meaning that every text message, photo, phone call, email, etc is being recorded, making it easier for the government to track down anyone that they want. Americans privacy is being violated very similarly to the privacy violations in 1984, a novel written by George Orwell. When Snowden came across these files he felt the need the documents because he believed that these types of decisions should be determined by the public. And just like Edward Snowden I do strongly believe that the government should not have made the decision of recording private information without notifying us, the citizens. In conclusion, every person with a cellular device does have a file that the government has just in case. Cell phones are losing it s original purpose and should now be considered a tracking device. They now clothed him in drawers, leggings, boots, and a kurtak and chaftan of cloth of gold, with gold buttons, placing on the head a cap made of cloth of gold, trimmed with sable. • 14. Does The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas And How Does It... One of the most prevalent unanswered questions that readers have about The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas is where is the place that those who walk away are going to (Scoville 2016). In the story, the narrator themselves cannot even perceive this place. They leave Omelas, they walk ahead into the darkness, and they do not come back. The place they go towards is a place even less imaginable to most of us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is possible that it does not exist. But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas (LeGuin 8). Its buttocks and thighs are a mass of festered sores, as it sits in its own excrement continually. They all know it is there, all the people of Omelas (LeGuin 7). It is revealed to readers that all of the citizens of Omelas know of this child being stored in a murky dirty cellar. Due to this fact and how the people of Omelas do nothing to help the child verifies the existence of evil in the new story world the narrator has crafted (Posella 3). Additionally, this is an unmistakable act of evil and selfishness made by the people of Omelas to let such a horrid event occur, the suffering of one child for the happiness of all, which is the devil s bargain in this story (Scoville 2016). Thus, the main inquiry concerning this is why must the town of Omelas be built this way. One reason that the narrator abandons an ideal perfect story world and goes into one full of evil instead is due to the notion that evil is interesting to individuals and that readers want to hear about such brutality like a child be inhumanely treated (Scoville 2016). However, this idea is overly generalized and does not apply to everyone (Posella 3). Another reason may be that, in relation to real life, even though the world may seem perfect, people still suffer. Some excavated buildings were unprotected and wall paintings faded without ever being recorded. Many current pieces of legislation, which have solved multiple previous issues, can still be further developed to improve commercial space exploration in the future as Mars colonization becomes a more tangible goal. Robert Walker, a former member of the United StatesHouse of Representatives, declared that many of the current space laws make it easier for government to function in space (q.t.d Space Law ), but not companies that could revolutionize commercial space travel. • 21. London By George Eliot And Monet s The House Of... London, England s capital, is one of the top twenty five largest cities in the world, located on the River Thames with a history reaching all the way back to Roman times. From the London Eye and Big Ben to the Albert and Victoria Memorial and Buckingham Palace, there is an abundance of adventures to journey on in the prodigious city of London. Despite all the fascinating monuments and architecture there is to see, London has the reputation of constantly being gloomy and raining. With this reputation, there is plenty of artwork that resembles the image of gloomy, large London. Three pieces of artwork that resemble the gloomy and large qualities of London are In a London Drawing Room by George Eliot, A London Thoroughfare. 2 AM by Amy Lowell, and Monet s The House of Parliament, sunset (1903). Eliot s painting of London represents the vast city as isolated and extremely gloomy, where no bird can make a shadow as it flies as a result of the immense amount of fog floating in the air. Here, London is depicted as a lonely and isolated city when Eliot says, All hurry on look upon the ground, / Or glance unmarking at the passers by / The wheels are hurrying too, cabs, carriages / All closed, in multiplied identity. With the millions of people breathing in London, it is still an empty city where people do not recognize one another and do not form the effort to conceive new relationships. American Companies Are Good For Business Introduction: As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, American companies have been expanding their businesses overseas, seeking new markets and new investment opportunities. These companies are seeking countries with a high GDP, strategic location, and a growing urban middle class. GDP, or gross domestic product, is the sum of value added by resident firms, households, and governments operating in an economy (Peng, 2016, pg. 5). Since GDP is an important measure of economic growth, nations with high GDP are seen as desirable markets in which to expand by companies seeking to grow their business overseas. These companies are also seeking countries with an accessible and advantageous location, as strategic location is imperative to facilitate ease in trading. Countries with a convenient location relative to the United States are good for business because of the low costs of transporting goods and because proximity between trade partners has the potential to stimulate trade. Lastly, a growing urban middle class typically equates with a growing economy. Historically, the middle class successfully amasses the most capital, be it physical (such as property) or human (such as education). This accumulation of resources by the middle class then increases the country s overall GDP (Pezzini, 2012, OECD). • 37. Pacifism And Anabaptism In The 16th Century Europe Introduction Life in 16th century Europe was short, difficult and tumultuous. One hundred years after Luther started the Protestant Reformation by nailing his 95 thesis to the door of the Wittenberg church, religious and state relationships were ever shifting and evolving. Traditions and beliefs were being threatened by new discoveries and schools of thought while those with contradicting beliefs were singled out for persecution. Food and shelter were not guaranteed, especially for the poor, and disease and war were an ever looming dark cloud of death and destruction. The members of the newly developing religious group called Anabaptism were often the main target of persecution and were faced with the options of migrating, recanting and most harshly, execution. They had many reasons and opportunities to resist and revolt using violent measures, as was customary at the time, but instead they held fast in their pacifistic beliefs, rejecting any and all violence. The 16th century Anabaptists demonstrated their dedication to pacifismeven when challenged with scripture that opposed their beliefs, persecution and war. Definition of Pacifism Anabaptists were often described as pacifists due to their rejection of the sword and opposition to violence. However, it is important to note that pacifism is a moderately new term, coined in the 20th century and that their beliefs are perhaps better explained using the terms absolute pacifism and nonresistance, or Gewaltlosigkeit in German. Pacifism is [t]he belief that war and violence are unjustifiable and that all disputes should be settled by peaceful means. It can be seen as an active stance against violence, specifically war, to settle disputes, whereas non resistance implies a passive stance, avoiding involvement in any form of violence or event that could lead to violence. Pacifism can be religious or non religious, political or not, and is anchored largely in a basic belief in the goodness and perfectibility of man and the reformability of the general human society on rational grounds. On the other hand, nonresistance is seen as an outward manifestation of the peace of God within the soul, and is the peace of God applied to our relation with our fellow man. ... Throughout his position of tenure, Atlas has simultaneously exhibited the power of stupidity. His exhibition of stupidity is almost as powerful as his demonstration of extreme intelligence. Atlas, a titanwho received the worst punishment of all from the Olympians, holds the worst possible type of tenure. When the word tenure is brought up, many immediately think about a highly successful, brilliant professor, at a prestigious university who welcomes the opportunity to be guaranteed a top job for life. Tenure is a curse for Atlas. Being stuck, holding up the world for eternity. When Atlas ultimately... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conversely, the couple is relying on the gods to use a spell, instead of handling their own problems. After all the digging, cleaning, and cataloging of hominin discoveries is complete, we begin to start analyzing mysterious specimen #6. It looked a lot like a modern human but the skull features is slightly different and the molars is quite large. From what we have noticed at first sight, the incisors, canines and the premolars of the specimen are missing. Without analyzing and measuring the teeths, it would make our job a bit difficult, but there is always alternative route to analyze this mysterious specimen. My partners and I shared each other hypotheses about mysterious specimen #6 that were trying to figure it out. We observed every little feature that the specimen have and we re not were not sure what hominin it is, we first guessed that this specimen is just another known fossil species in the human lineage or it could be a new fossil species in the human lineage. Our main hypothesis that were trying to find the answer is mysterious specimen #6 is a previous human species before modern humans today, and How long does mysterious specimen #6 live? There are so many questions about mysterious specimen #6 and were we going to get to the bottom of this by analyzing the skull features, measuring the specimen with special tools and compare and contrast to all hominin from the past to see anything similar and related to mysterious specimen #6.
