Sustainability Reporting Of The United States
Abstract
Sustainability reporting in the United States is still a work in progress. While more countries
around the world are requiring companies to report the effects of their business activities as part of
their annual report, this practice is still voluntary in the US. Even though sustainability reporting is
not required, companies generally disclose sustainable information on their websites or through
social media. Being social responsible builds a certain type of bond that brings internal and external
stakeholders together.
Many companies in the US have taken action and developed their corporate governance model that
will meet their needs as well as the needs of the people around them, thus creating a better
environment for shareholders and stakeholders. Currently, most companies that issue sustainability
reporting follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards guidelines. The GRI standards are
designed to achieve transparency, and it has become the most common set of standards used
amongst organizations for sustainability reporting.
This research paper was written with the purpose of providing some answers as to why
sustainability reporting in the United States should be mandated by regulators. The paper briefly
describes the GRI standards and guidelines, the benefits of sustainability reporting, some relative
advantages limitations in adopting sustainability reporting, as well as provides a few examples of
companies that have successfully adopted

Enroll in a Closed Campus Essay
Internationally there are many college campuses that are closed so that the productivity as well
as the safety of the school are increased. A closed campus, in Asian countries such as China and
South Korea, are set up where walls are built around the college campus so that only students or
faculty may enter the premises. The students of closed campuses probably have less stress and
higher grades, thus higher productivity. Albeit students have more freedom to do whatever they
wish to do on an open campus, students are developing a need to enroll in a college with a closed
campus due to, all needs or wants being available on campus, less traffic, and the overall safety for
students and faculty. Having an open campus would help students,... Show more content on

Students who leave campus to go to retail stores for products can also find those goods on
campus in places such as the cafГ©, book store, or gifts shops. Common needs such as poster
boards, pencils, pens, and highlighters are always available to purchase in book stores so that
students do not have to leave campus to buy necessary school supplies. Commodities such as
restaurants are available around the clock. Many famous restaurants, though many being fast food,
set up shops within college campuses. Students can enjoy a wide variety of options ranging from
pizza to ethnic cuisines right there on campus all day long. College students eternally need a place
to rest so that they may relax after a long day s work. Often, students go to the quad and play a
game of catch with friends. Students can go to the recreational rec center where swimming pools,
hot tubs, workout machines, and gaming stations are available at the students disposal. Having
areas where students may relax around campus is the better alternative, opposed to having to leave
campus to relax. Resources that students need or want are better off located near students so that
they may enjoy them immediately. Many four year universities students bring vehicles with them
on move in days. These students keep their cars at the universities parking lots, making them
crowded. Vehicle traffic on campuses featuring

Need to Rehearse Your Lines in Book, A Challenge for the...
Introduction:
In this introduction, Hagen helps the actor by giving the reader nine questions to ask him or
herself. She created a few exercises to help the actors and actresses practice by themselves. She
states that when doing these exercises, to not look for interesting events and to use real props. She
really stresses the importance of rehearsing your lines.
Basic Object Exercises:
The way that you rehearse should be definite and concise. Practice a lot but when actually
performing it, act as if it was impulsive.
This text helped me to understand Hagen s form and approach to acting. Whenever I see people act
on TV, I think, wow! It sounds so easy to do what they do when matter of fact, acting is so hard.

description and qualities. I think being able to provide a scene with your endowment of an object

Talking to Yourself
Be aware of when you talk to yourself normally.
The way that you talk to yourself is different than the way you talk to others, especially an
audience. You may be more confident and ready in front of yourself but less confident in front
of others so again, practicing, in front of a group of friends or audience can help you prepare better.
It is still one of my goals to be able to perform wonderfully in front of the class one day.
Outdoors
Explore being in different outdoor situations
Learn to watch what you do when you are on your own time and not really doing much
By exploring the realms outside of acting, you can really get a feel of what it feels like to be out of
a scene, or perhaps even in a scene. Noticing your behavior while doing nothing can really tell you
how you behave otherwise. Are you really quiet in person and really loud or obnoxious on stage?
This really made me think of who I was and made me wonder if I ever acted for a living, and if it
were to at all change who I was as an actor.

Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Place
For many people there is a sweet smell, a pleasing photograph, the familiar sound of happiness
that bring them back to a place full of childhood images. In my life, I was lucky enough to have
traveled to some of the most beautiful places on Earth. I have swum with the dolphins in crystal
blue sea of Phuket Thailand and watch golden ray of the sunshine set behind mount Fuji in
Japan. However, no places earth will compare to the loveliness of my childhood paradise, a place
I called home. Barbara Kingsolver writes, I have a place where all my stories begin, and my
story began at a lake house located on the water edge of Little Toad Lake, Minnesota.
(Kingsolver 939). It is where I spent half my life with my dog (Spike), sister, mom, and dad,
through the hot summer days and freezing winter months. The house was built on the side of a
steep hill leading down to a beach front lake. The main entrance had a big double iron door
which lead into the living room overlooking the lake. The main living area had several big
windows which let in a brilliant of sunlight onto the dark walnut floor. The fireplace mantle
displays a big moose head that my dad shot on his hunting trip to Alaska (his prize possession).
My favorite place of the house would be the kitchen. That s where all my lessons of cooking
started. Thank you to my mom for teaching me the value of cooking. If it wasn t for her I would
be eating ramens every day at college. Oh, the memories we had at the lake house. In the spring, my
mom, sister, and I go on long walks in the woods to go mushroom hunting because who doesn t
love free food. I remember making mushroom soup for the first time and almost burning my
hands off because I forgot to turn the stove down to low and the pot was overflowing onto the
floor. I could still remember the facial expression on my mom s face, let just say she was not a
happy camper. One summer day, my sister and I were out fishing with my mom on the pontoon
and we were catching a lot of fish and out of nowhere it started pouring rain. My mom started the
pontoon and guess what? We ran out of gas in the middle of the lake. It took as over two hours to
paddle back to shore but thank goodness it stopped raining. To this day we still

A Brief History of Cuba
In 1492, Christopher Columbus landed on what is now Bariay, Holguin province. He claimed this
piece of land for Spain and originally named it Isla Juana after the Prince of Asturias, Juan. In the
mid 16th century an outbreak of measles wiped out two thirds of the natives, which most of them
had survived the outbreak of smallpox previously. In the 19th century Cubas people were slaves,
outraged slaves began to rebel with the intention to win independence from the Spanish. In April of
1898 Spain and Cuba went to war with Americas involvement which resulted in the Treaty of Paris
in August of 1898 where Spain ceded Puerto Rico, Philippines, Cuba, and Guam. On May 20, 1902
The United Statesof America allowed Cuba to gain its independence. The newly written constitution
stated that the United States retained the right to intervene in Cuba s affairs. In 1933 the Sergeants
revolt occurred. Leader of the revolt, Sergeant Fulgencio Batista overthrew Cespedes. After
Cespedes was overthrown Ramon Grau San Martin was named as provisional president, but in
1934 he resigned leaving Batista the presidency. Eventually Cuban natives were unsatisfied with the
way Batista ran the country; exiled in 1959 Batista fled to Portugal. Eventually Fidel Castrotook
over and converted the country to communism, which led Cuba into the best and the worst of times.

Essay on Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer was a poet, a writer, and of course a diplomat. Geoffrey Chaucer was born in
the early hours of 1340s to John Chaucer, a vintner and assistant to the king s butler. As a boy, he
was a leaf to the Countess of Ulster. (Lombardi) Chaucer was the most famous for writing his
unfinished Canterbury tales. (Geoffrey Chaucer) He was born in London, only problem is, the exact
date and place are unknown. From his writings Chaucer emerges as poet of love, both worldly
and heavenly. No information exists about his early education, although without a doubt he would
have been as good in French as in the Middle English of his time. (Bio.True Story) Chaucer pops
up in the record books in 1357 he was working for the queen. ... Show more content on

Some people collected the sixteenth century editions of Chaucer s Works. He set the goal line
for all other English authors, including, presentation, quality and success of actually printing.
(Geoffrey Chaucer) When these versions of his poems were printed, that was the time where
Geoffrey Chaucer truly became famous.(Geoffrey Chaucer) It was in Chaucer s final phase,
which he gained his popularity, The Canterbury Tales (written mostly after 1387). The
Canterbury Tales was an unfinished poem. Being his most successful, it consists of 17000 lines.
It was one of the most unsullied works in all literature. (Info Please) The Canterbury Tales is a
collection of stories written in Middle English. As a group of pilgrims travels to the shrine of
Saint Thomas they decide to tell stories to each other on the way. In a huge list of poems and
stories, the Canterbury Tales is Chaucer s most important and visual, and a stacking achievement of
western culture and Old English times. While writing the Canterbury tales he use the characters
and their lifestyles to create irony and every day events. Describing what the old English church
was really like. (Geoffrey Chaucer) The Canterbury Tales were written in Middle English, in the old
days, the tone was equivalent to London type style. Although there was never an official copy of
the Canterbury tales, Adam Pankhurst made sure that wasn t true.

Duality Of Song Essay
Song s physicality of this personification is not limited to her behavior, she also uses the physical
act of sex as another power dynamic over Gallimard. Her portrayal of herself as an inexperienced
modest Chinese girl (Hwang, 40) gives Gallimard the idea that she is the complete embodiment
of his desires. Song uses her fals inexperience as another way for Gallimard to feel confidence
and control in their relationship. Song takes this a step further by telling Gallimard that she is
capable of pleasing him while still maintaining her modesty. This use of her body without her body
is what Gallimard is most fascinated by. Her ability to carry out his fantasy by being completely
modest while still giving him the pleasure that he wants is the... Show more content on

Song even begins to challenge Gallimard s identity by creating a dynamic in their relationship
that is as much about Gallimard s insecure sense of self as it is his desire for power and control.
Gallimard explains, She would always have prepared a light snack and then, ever so delicately,
and only if I agreed, she would start to pleasure me... But mostly we would talk. About my life.
Perhaps there is nothing more rare than to find a woman who passionately listens. (Hwang, 49)
Song not only displays the ability to listen to Gallimard but the absolute desire to do so, thereby
making him feel valued by her. Gallimard has a constant desire for validation throughout the
play and Song s ability to commit her entire self, body and mind, to him gives him the
verification that he needs and so he is able to feel the confidence in his daily life that he does
with her. This display of his necessity to be listened to shows his need for validation. Because
Song understands this she listens to Gallimard and confirms his thoughts and feelings. Gallimard s
need to be listened to reveals his need to feel valuable, a need rooted in an unstable

8th Grade Singing
Hello,
There are quite a few pedagogical reasons why Rachel and I have decided to combine both
choirs. Below are just a few. My 8th grade boys were having a hard time singing do to voice
changes. I tried to keep the boys up in their falsetto and while this worked for a few boys the
others we not able to produce certain notes. When boys voices start to change it can result in them
only being able to sing a very limited amount of notes. We worked on high trills, sliding, humming,
yawning, held long tones, among many of other to help support their changing voices. After our
first concert I talked with my boys and they had mentioned that they felt very discouraged about
singing because some of them simply are not producing notes or can only sing in a low rumble.
Rachel mentioned to me that her boys were just starting to transition and she was noticing large
gaps in her group as well. Combining both groups would result in a higher confidence level, tone
production, and create a full choir sound. This is one of the reasons why we combined the groups. ...

Although our Planned Course document does not differentiate between grade levels it is known
in the musical world that 8th grade choir should be able to sing in easy three part harmony by the
end of the year. Seventh graders are just being introduced into it by the end. The 8th graders have
taken on the bulk of the three part harmony however having a small number of students and a
group of boys with ever changing voices makes 3 part harmony almost impossible. To promote
healthy singing and a confident choir it is important for them to be combined. Because the music is
more difficult it will encourages the 7th graders to rise to the level of the 8th graders so when I

The Refugee Experience Refugees are people who are forced to flee their country because of
persecution, natural disasters, and mainly war. When they leave their country their live

Although their lives turn inside out, it eventually gets better and turns back again. The way these
children s lives turn back again in the same way they turn inside out. They experience and learn
new things that help them eventually start a better life. For example when Ha has trouble with
her whole school experience, she gets extra support from Mrs Washington. The text states, We
found out MiSSSis WaSShington is a widow and retired teacher...She volunteers to teach us all.
(Lai 165) This shows that she gets extra support when she s having trouble. This is the same for
the syrian refugees when they receive extra support from the school. It states in paragraph 9, In
response to the flow of new students school districts are increasing english instruction. They are
also making extra efforts to reach out to parents unfamiliar with the U.S school system. This
reflects Ha s experience because they also get extra support, which help turn their life back again.

eventually get better. Mother states, Our lives will twist and twist intermingling the old and the

The Membrane Of The Cone Cells
Several researchers like (Burakova and Mazokhin Porshnyakov, 1982; Mishra and Meyer Rochow,
2008a) confirmed that the vesicles originate from inflation of the interretinular strands and are
simply extensions of the cone cells. Shaw (1978) considered the presence of vesicles around the
rhabdomere to be a typical feature of dark/lightadaption. The location of the interretinular spaces
suggests two possible functions. The first is to make physical contact with the rhabdomeres
because both of them disappear in the nuclear region. The second, physiological function by
increase sensitivity at the cost of resolution the presence of a palisade, which bodice the pigment
granules away from the rhabdom. Finally, accordingly to (Horridge and Barnard, 1965) this IRSs
have a light guiding function apparently to protect the photoreceptors from damage by the allowing
of stray light to entire the eyes.
4.3.2 Distal retinula cells
The rhabdom is long and wide at the distal start and becomes very narrow at the most proximal end.
(Horridge and Barnard, 1965; Land, 1981; Stavenga, 2003) reported that the long rhabdom allows
the receptor to collect more light and increasing the sensitivity, this feature is common in nocturnal
and crepuscular insects. Although the eye examined here exhibits light adaption, there is strong
evidence that this eye has an anatomical design optimized for vision in dim light.

Persuasive Essay On The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
There has been much research in the effort of how to effectively clean and recycle the plastic
that has accumulated in the Great Pacific garbage patch. Many studies have found that the
process of actually trying to scoop up what is now a plastic soup like substance could pose a
number of issues. Some researchers say that the garbage patch could possibly be half the size of
the United States which would be a huge financial challenge for any country to undertake. Charles
Moore, an internationally recognized expert on marine plastic pollution and the man who
discovered the vortex, says cleaning up the garbage patch would bankrupt any country that tried it
(Moore). Not only is it a huge financial challenge, but because the Great Pacific garbage patchis

Earth is drowning in plastic and it is time that we really dig deep on this issue as it s already
affecting the oceans ecosystem. Laws should be passed to make it illegal to dump trash in the
ocean and alternative methods of trash disposal need to be sought. Used water bottles, plastic
bags, coffee cups, and fish nets make up a huge portion of the Great Pacific garbage patch, this
can be avoided by simply passing legislation to make it illegal to dump trash in the ocean.
Raising awareness starts with informing your family and friends of what they can do to help
reduce their plastic usage and explain to them why it is harmful to the environment. Reduce your
everyday plastic usage such as sandwich bags, water bottles, and plastic utensils. These efforts
may not sound like much to combat such a huge global issue, but in this instance educating others
and developing good habits is our most powerful weapon if we to live in a cleaner, safer

Should Marriage for Same Sex Couples be Legal in United...
Marriage as generally define is the union between one man and one woman. However a recent
debate over same sex marriage has stirred a nationwide debate reverberating in the halls of
Congress, at the White House, in dozens of state courtrooms and legislatures, and is also becoming
a speech making topic for election campaigns at both the national and state levels. As the debate for
this controversial topic rages on, the American religious community view on the topic remains
deeply divided over the matter and over the morality of homosexualityin general. Granting legal
marriage right to gays and lesbians would primarily alter the idea of marriage, ignore a child s
right to a mother and father, and expands government control of marriage.... Show more content on

People against same sex marriage can use the doctrine that separates states from church in order
to stop the government from compelling them to accept a new definition of marriage. Under
this doctrine, if the government decides to grant the legal right to same sex marriage, the
government will be violating the freedom of religion of people under the civil rights of the
Constitution, who hold the deep believe that homosexuality is morally wrong in the society.
The role of marriage in the society is a major topic that it is thought in public schools. If same
sex marriage is legalized, public schools would have to teach the pupil about same sex marriage
as equivalent to opposite sex marriage which will violate the beliefs of many parents who are
against same sex marriage. According to Stanley Kurtz, a social commentator, he argued that
among the likeliest effects of legalizing same sex marriage is to take us down a slippery slope to
legalized polygamy and polyamory. Marriage will be transformed into a variety of relationship
contracts, linking two, three, or more individuals weakly and temporarily in every conceivable
combination of male and female (Weekly Standard).

There is no structured institution in the United States, specifically in the DC, Virginia, and
Maryland area where children can learn lacrosse, field hockey and soccer from an early age on.
Furthermore facilities are lacking quality and do not provide parents as well as college graduates
with a chance to learn the sport of their child or take part in their child s sports experience. Lastly
there are no sports complexes that offer healthy varieties of food instead of snack and fast food.

Summary Of Peter Eisinger s Essay Is Detroit Dead
In his essay Is Detroit Dead?, Peter Eisinger investigates the slow decay and degradation of the
city of Detriot, and argue that it is no longer a living city. He uses the analogy of a patient who is
diagnosed with a terminal disease to help prove his point. Eisinger looks at the lack of self
governance, inefficient and eroding public services, and the shallow indigenous labour pool in
Detroit, to sustain his argument that Detroit is on the cusp of death. As well, he uses other literature
that points out the mass migration of Detroiters that started in the 1950s, and the rapid decline of
the auto industry. Eisinger also discusses limitations in finding numerical data for the exact amount
of debt Detroit has and with the proportion of Detroiters... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues that the city does not have an elected official running the city; instead, the state
appointed a bankruptcy lawyer, Kevyn Orr, who answers only to the state governor (Eisinger,
2013). As such, Orr does not serve the residents of Detroit specifically, which Eisinger states is a
central urban function of a city. Instead, Orr is primarily in charge of recasting the city budget
and selling assets to help pay off the extraordinary debt, and published a report of the situation in
Detroit in 2013. Eisinger also argues that the public services in Detroit are in crisis. The
effectiveness and efficiency of the police department is extremely low (Eisinger, 2013), and that the
public transportation system is unreliable; it should be noted that Detroit is one of the few cities in
the United States without public transportation between the city and its major airport. (Eisinger,
2013). As well, Eisinger states that the indigenous labour pool holds little attraction to employers in
technology or information fields. (Eisinger, 2013). The city is the 94th least educated in the United
States, and less than 15% of city adults have a college or postgraduate education (Eisinger, 2013).
From these arguments, and from other literature, it is clear that Eisinger s argument that Detroit is
no longer a living city may hold truth to

The Lego Movie Analysis
In the movie The Lego Movie there are many different morals and points of perspective to be
taken out of the movie. The topic of this essay is, how does The Lego Movie demonstrate that
those in a role of leadership can have the power to rule in positive or negative or positive ways.
This prompt will be shown with evidence from the movie focusing on some certain characters. The
characters that will be focused on are Emmet, President Business and Vitruvius.
President business is a perfect example of the fact that having a leadership role can give someone
the chance and power to rule in a positive or negative way. As a president he had a lot of power.
He abused this right. He used his power for his own gain to get things how he wanted them to
be. With the amount of power that he had he was able to cover all this up and make sure nobody
knew. This is evidence of how having a leadership role can give anyone the chance to make a
positive or negative impact. This example is of someone in a leadership role making a negative
impact on the people and lives around him. In the speech he gave on the television of all the
citizens he says things like I am the president of the octan cooperates and the world. He is
showing the world his power so that they don t question him but also so that they can t. In the
movie The Lego Movie the character President Business abuses his power as president. He uses his
power in a negative way and for his own personal deeds. He wants the world to

A good coaching style and personality are the foundation behind a successful coach. In the movie
Coach Carter do Ken Carter accept a new challenge, to become the new head coach for an awful
basketball team, that s having tremendous problems with dreadful results, criminality and bullying.
Carter changes the team, their structure and the player s way of being, which ends up making them
a successful team. But what is the secret about his great success? And which coachingstrategies do
he use to make the team successful?
Just from the start Ken Carter showed how great his personality really is. Right when he stepped
into the basketball arena, he was faced with resistance from the players. Especially after he
introduced the new basketball contract. The special thing about his personality is, that he was able
to overcome these challenges and that he kept fighting for a better future for the rest of the team.
Ken Carter treats everyone the same. When his son joined the team and was late for training, he got
the same punishment as the rest of the team. Moreover, he s not creating a big power distance
between him and the team. His showing his position as the guy with the power over the team when

Breastfeeding in Pubic Right or Wrong
Have you ever wondered what food is safe, effective, and readily assessable? That is engineered to
individual needs, environmentally friendly, painless, offers long term protection, is free and as a
side effect is a weight loss method? Could you imagine someone being discriminated against for
using such a great product? Breastfeeding is the oldest form of feeding a child. It has existed since
the beginning of time. In fact, out of all the mammals that exist on this planet, every one of them

Oppressors In America Research Paper
The guilt of nurturing lust for power made Hagar run away from Sara. In this context, I observe,
that the powerless concubine became all powerful she ran away twice from Sara. Her reasons
for doing so might be many, most notable being that Hagar was the biological mother of
Ishmael, and further the tables turned when Sara asked Abraham to send Hagar away there is a
shift in the power roles. Hagar s acts of running away from Sara twice helps me perceive Hagar
taking over the role of an oppressor from her former role of one being oppressed. To explicate
this, as a maid, Hagar was oppressed into forcible sexual relationship with Abram, the same
oppressed concubine can be perceived as the oppressor who torments Sara because she is the

Poisonwood Bible Comparison
Throughout many novels different characters are sent to a new place to explore and find new
things in life. An excellent example would be how the characters in the novel Poisonwood Bible
explore a new lifestyle in the Congo. While they are there they have to learn how to adapt to a
new life, and they try and teach the Congolese people how to worship the God, Jesus Christ. Even
though the Congolese people may believe in different Gods, the Price family, especially Nathan
feels that it is their duty to teach them different ways. Thus the poem We Grow Accustomed To

Rachel was a daughter that loved her father and she at first felt that he was the best person in the

see the bad things that he started doing in the dark, mysterious place they were living in. She
started to see how arrogant and defensive he became throughout the community and how he threw
hissy fits. She realized that enough was enough and she needed to grow accustomed to this new
place by herself, just like the narrator did in the poem. This is because she knew that her dad was
just going insane and he wanted too much power. She now felt bad for her mom and what he had
done to her, and wanted to side with her mom to get out of the community that they were in because
they had enough of it. Another thing that happened in the Congo while she was there was
something absurd and scarring to say the least. Her sister had started to hunt with the men for
meat and Rachel saw what they did when they killed the poor animals lives. Rachel was so

Poisonwood Bible Analysis
The beginning of The Poisonwood Bible immediately informs the reader that this story is not
going to be like any other story the reader is going to read. The beginning gives the reader
curiosity because it s bold and is unusual to any other narrative beginning. It allows the reader to
get a sense of what the setting will be for this book and informs the reader that when reading he
or she should pay close attention. Things like what and why things are occurring and how the
characters are dealing with those situations. This beginning tells the reader that the environment
will play in the lives of the characters and somewhat alludes that this environment will create
problems. I believe the you that Orleanna is speaking to could possibly be the reader because the
things she states when she does say you are direct questions. It is almost like she is having a
direct conversation. It seems more likely to be the reader since she is one of the main characters
and the reader is the one learning about her story and what she went through. However, this is only
a prediction and could later turnout to be anyone within the story, but her children. It can be anyone
but her children because if she is speaking to them she would most likely state their names instead

Literary Devices In Middlemarch
In Middlemarch, George Eliot utilizes several literary devices to portray her two characters and
their complex relationship that reveals their marriage is dominated by the husband who objectifies
his wife into silence. Throughout the passage, Eliot makes it clear that Rosamond and Tertius
Lydgate are in an uneven relationship, considering Tertius refuses to listen to his wifewho seems to
only have his best interest at heart, yet still, he continues to yell at her for thinking she knows
what is best for him. With the help of details, Tertius s critical tone, and imagery, Eliot is able to
showcase how complex their relationship is when it comes to Rosamond giving her opinions and
ideas, just to be casted to the side. In several parts of the passage, Eliot hints that Rosamond loves
her husband, however, is constantly disciplined by Tertius when she speaks up on his actions. With
her selection of details, it exemplifies the complexities of the couple s marriageand how as a
newlywed, their life together is only just beginning, yet already, Rosamond is getting cold feet.
This is asserted when it states, the thought in her mind was that if she had known how Lydgate
would behave, she would never have married him (77 79). Eliot explains how Rosamond is
doubting Tertius s lovefor her, considering the fact he is always making her feel inferior to him.

Usually, they are forgotten or killed off and labeled with the mental occupational hazard trope. This
trope proves that once a minority has served their purpose, they are no longer needed to help the
group survive any longer and the main character forgets about the minority (tvtrope.org). These are
the main ideas perpetuated in AMC s thriller television show The Walking Dead. From the very
beginning, the show portrayed minorities as nothing more than the magical negro helping to
further Rick s survival in the zombie infested world. As more characters are introduced, the
majorities are of the white race with a few exceptions; Morgan, his son, and T Dog are African
American. They represent a racial inequality constitutive [...] order while Michonne represents a

Greed And Greed In The Gift Of The Magi
Greed and Charity
Greed is a selfish desire for more than is needed. Charity is the kindhearted goodwill toward or
love of humanity. Both terms are used to create central themes for the four stories we read in our
english class. All of these stories include characters that present greed or charity. In The Gift of the
Magi, the wife and the husband both gave up their prized possessions to get their significant other
a gift. Since the couple were poor and wanted to satisfy each other with a wonderful gift, they
had to give up what they never thought they would have before. I believe this shows charity in
their relationship. They both wanted the best of the best for each other and kindheartedly gave
up whatever they had. Della, the wife, asked someone to buy her long, silky, brown hair. Will
you buy my hair? asked Della. I buy hair, said Madame. Take yer hat off and let s have a sight at
the looks of it. As you can see, the wife sold her hair to buy her husband a gift which was a watch
band for his watch. The husband then revealed to his wife that he sold his watch to buy her a
comb. In The Fisherman and His Wife, both greed and charity are presented. The fisherman
consisted of a lot of charity. He was willing to give his wife whatever she wanted. The fisherman
s wife had so much greed. She wanted more than she already had. She was so greedy that she
thought of herself to be just like God. The couple first owned a pig stye of a house. From this,

The Influence Of The Renaissance Witch Hunts
Renaissance Witch Hunts The witch hunts took place during the 1450 s to the 1750 s, most
notably in England and Salem, Massachusetts. They also took place in Italy and other smaller
places in the United States. women were always witches, almost never men and there were a
ridiculous amount of things that would accuse you of being a witch. If you wore black, you were
a witch. If you enjoyed reading, you were a witch. If you had a mole/birthmark, you were a witch.
The reasons go on and on but I won t bore you with that.
What is witchcraft/witches Witch craft is defined as a form of sorcery and often portrayed as a sign
of the devil, the practice of magic, especially black magic; the use of spells and the invocation of
spirits, according to the dictionary. Unfortunately, this is not a concrete answer because the
definition would imply this being a bad thing. The existence of glinda the good witch contradicts
this statement. Also the wicca religion makes the definition a little questionable because they don t
necessarily practice witchcraft with evil intent. They do match up with the things that would make
you a witch,(Connecting with nature and other things) they don t match the stereotypical look of a
witch with the large and deformed nose, pointed hat and broom flying abilities. We don t have a
clear cut idea for what witchcraft is but, we have a general idea as to what it is.
As to what witches are, they are people who practice/is accused of practicing witchcraft and

said that the classes in her city were small and students were to shy to ask questions. Here, there
are larger classes and more active students. She also said that people converse a lot more here
than in Indonesia. Americans spend a lot more time interacting in this way. One trivial fact I
learned was that in Indonesia you become boyfriend or girlfriend with someone before you go on
any dates. Here, of course, it is usually the opposite case.
Jennifer also told me of a few similarities she has noticed while spending time in the U.S. First,
we are all students, working toward a goal. Each person has his or her own personal goal and way
of working. Also, group work is an enormous part of the Iowa State community. She said that in
Indonesia, group work is not encouraged quite as much, but it is still an important element of a
good education.
Also, imagine what international students think about the terrorism of the last week. Can you
believe that it might be tough for them to handle the American s sad and angry feelings? Do you
think they might be worrying about their family and friends back home? I believe that it is hard
for anyone to endure a change in life. During these hard times, it seems natural for cultures to pull
together and work as one.

Environmental Effect Of Fragmentation In New England
The Eastern Cottontail rabbit has a wide variety of habitat and lives on the edge. They have a
wide variety in their selection of habitat; they will live by fields, farmlands, hedgerows, and
shrubby cover near the edges of forests. They need an area with grass and low brushy areas for
escape and nesting areas. The nest of a cottontail is usually right near the edge of a field with
edge vegetation. Cottontails love being by the edge of a field and a wooded area, but still need a
lot of interior cover inside the forest (Gaudette 1 3). Fragmentation may be the biggest threat to
biodiversity. A study in New England was tested on cottontails and the effects of fragmentation.

Plant species and trees have a very important role in helping with diversity (Tews 2). Edge and
fragmentation affect the habitat of many species like the Cottontail. Taking out vegetation and
trees in the habitat will cause the diversity of species to decrease affecting the Cottontail
negatively. The White Spruce will be affected because they provide a lot of cover and vegetation
for species. Edge and fragmentation will take out the spruces and cause vegetation to go down.
These will all affect the habitat heterogeneity in a negative way and animals will become threatened

Moon Cake Festival Essay
Moon Cake Festival: A Mid Autumn Festival (Chung Chiu), the third major festival of the
Chinese calendar, is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month. This festival corresponds to
harvest festival s observed by Western cultures (in Hong Kong, it is held in conjunction with the
annual Lantern Festival). Contrary to what most people believe, this festival probably has less to
do with harvest festivities than with the philosophically minded chinese of old. The union of man
s spirit with nature in order to achieve perfect harmony was the fundamental canon of Taoism, so
much so that contemplation of nature was a way of life. This festival is also known as the Moon
Cake Festival because a special kind of sweet cake (yueh ping) prepared... Show more content on

The old man on the moon: There is a saying in Chinese that marriages are made in heaven and
prepared on the moon. The man who does the preparing is the old man of the moon (Yueh Lao
Yeh). This old man, it is said, keep as a record book with all the names of newborn babies. He is
the one heavenly person who knows everyone s future partners, and nobody can fight the
decisions written down in his book. He is one reason why the moon is so important in Chinese
mythology and especially at the time of the Moon Festival. Everybody including children, hikes
up high mountains or hills or onto open beached to view the moon in the hope that he will grant
their wishes. To celebrate this sighting of the moon, red plastic lanterns wrought in traditional
styles and embellished with traditional motifs are prepared for the occasion. It is quite a sight to
see Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, or Morse Park in Kowloon, alight with thousands of candlelit
lanterns. These Lantern Carnivals also occur spontaneously on most of the colony s beaches. The
lantern are made in such traditional shapes are rabbits, goldfish, carps, butterflies, lobsters and star
shaped fruits. However, in modern Hong Kong you will also see lantern in the shape of missiles,
airplanes, rockets, ships and tanks. In Chinese mythology, the butterfly is the symbols of longevity
and the lobster the symbols or mirth. Star shaped fruit is the seasonal fruit in the autumn, and the
crap is an old symbol of the Emperor,

Existentialism In Catcher In The Rye
At least once in someone s lifetime, a rocky phase filled with tasks and barriers that are challenging
to overcome will occur. In fact, if one has to fulfill these said duties in such ways that it ends up
becoming a regular routine, one might start to question the meaning of life. Isolation, feeling lonely,
or believing that regulations set by higher authorities are controlling one s individuality connect
with a concept known as existentialism. In J.D Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, it is
evident that Holden is against societal norms and he cannot form relationships with his peers due to
his peculiar attitude. As Holden is frequently mean spirited, this prevents him from fitting in.
Hence, examining the way Holden interacts with others reveals that Salinger purposely wrote this
novel with the intention of clarifying the concept of alienation by making Holden express his anti
social behavior to the readers through a first person narrative. Salinger expresses Holden s
alienation since his thoughts that he shares are melancholic, how he constantly tries forming
relationships within age groups that are vastly different from his, and the fact that others are
infuriated/uninterested with his conversations. What is perhaps the most symbolic aspect of
Holden s alienation are his own actions and thoughts shown to the audience. Obviously, when
intrusive thoughts affect an individual, it most likely links with isolation; this is what Holden
exactly experiences. Throughout

Introduction
Strategic management contains various subjects and topics, most of which do not have the
consistent identity (Ketchen, Boyd and Bergh, 2008). It is no doubt that there are still many
debates towards strategy concept. In this essay, the article crafting strategy will be reviewed. This is
analysed by putting the article in to a wider debate about strategy, then discussing its main strengths
and weaknesses.
Placing of the article in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea fully reflects the complexity for the business world, even though Mintzberg has an ardent
preference towards emergent strategy, there is no guaranty that this is the most suitable or perfect
method for all business. Besides, other analyses also illustrate the importance of strategy making
blends autonomy and planning in emergent strategy mode. To be more specific, by combining
those two modes, organisation is able to gain productive adaptive capability and optimal alignment
in firm through adapting to unpredictable environment in emergent strategy mode and coordinating
business activities to complete company s efficiency in strategy planning (Andersen and Nielsen.
2009).
Another strength of this article is the statement about strategic thinking. Fiona (2002) points out
that the central to sustain competitive advantage is to have a creative and divergent strategic
thinking. This fresh perspective represents a new way for managers to consider and evaluate the
operation of organisation. Just as Mintzberg mentions, strategic thinking is captured by informal
learning from diverse sources included experiences, leading to an integrated view towards the firm,
and then synthesizing the learning into an image of the business direction (1994). In contrast, many
administrators merely analyse the figures and graphs, but

Natural Rate Of Unemployment Essay
Natural rate of unemployment
The natural rate of unemployment (sometimes called the structural unemployment rate) is a
concept of economic activity developed in particular by Milton Friedman and Edmund Phelps in
the 1960s, both recipients of the Nobel prize in economics. In both cases, the development of the
concept is cited as a main motivation behind the prize.[1][2] It represents the hypothetical
unemployment rate consistent with aggregate production being at the long run level. This level is
consistent with aggregate production in the absence of various temporary frictions such as
incomplete price adjustment in labor and goods markets. The natural rate of unemployment
therefore corresponds to the unemployment rate prevailing under a ... Show more content on

Of course, the prices a company charges are closely connected to the wages it pays. Figure 1 shows
a typical Phillips curve fitted to data for the United States from 1961 to 1969. The close fit between
the estimated curve and the data encouraged many economists, following the lead of Paul
Samuelson and Robert Solow, to treat the Phillips curve as a sort of menu of policy options. For
example, with an unemployment rate of 6 percent, the government might stimulate the economy to
lower unemployment to 5 percent. Figure 1 indicates that the cost, in terms of higher inflation,
would be a little more than half a percentage point. But if the government initially faced lower rates
of unemployment, the costs would be considerably higher: a reduction in unemployment from 5 to
4 percent would imply more than twice as big an increase in the rate of inflation about one and a
quarter percentage points.
At the height of the Phillips curve s popularity as a guide to policy, Edmund Phelps and Milton
Friedman independently challenged its theoretical underpinnings. They argued that well informed,
rational employers and workers would pay attention only to real wages the inflation adjusted
purchasing power of money wages. In their view, real wages would adjust to make the supply of
labor equal to the demand for labor, and the unemployment rate would then stand at a level uniquely
associated with that real wage the natural rate of unemployment.

Taliban Banned
The Taliban are a group of terrorists, that use violence and harsh laws in order to force people to
do what they want. Not only do they force harsh laws for example, on the people of Swat (Malala s
home town), but they also have banned many things that they considered un Islamic like watching
tv, listening to music, going shopping, but most important girls right for education.
The taliban first came to Swat in the year of 2004, but according to Malala they did not show
their violence or oppressiveness when they first came. But in 2007 when they started to take
control over Swat their violence and brutalness was being used so the people would do what the
taliban ordered them to do. When the violence was being used, the people of Swat lost their ... Show

Girl right to go to school, girls going to the market, or even going to work, was all banned. The
taliban destroyed many girl schools, murdered teachers, and killed students, that went to school,
and all this was just to ban education. It became very dangerous for students to go to school, and
many students including ones at Malala s school dropped out.but Malala continued to go to
school because to her education was everything. Not only was violence used to make people
follow the rules that the taliban set, but it was also used in public where whipping and execution
was being used for anyone that broke the taliban s rules. The taliban have blasted more than 400
schools in swat, and slaughtered people , Malala says with her interview with Jon Stewart. That
shows you, that the taliban were so harsh and cruel to the people of Swat, they made the people
live in fear. Swat changed because of all the violence and oppressiveness of the taliban, instead of
Swat being paradise on earth like Malala describes it in her book I am Malala , it has became a war
zone.
If the taliban are being cruel, harsh, and are banning girls education, what do they want to reach?
Well according to Malala, the terrorists are afraid of education, they do not want women to get
education because they do not want women to be more powerful , that might be one reason that
shows you what the taliban want from banning girls from going to school, which is trying not to
make education or girls more powerful than them. And that is why the taliban are using violence so
they can make girls not go to

Descriptive Essay On A Giant Lobster
The Giant Lobster
One day, Dave and his family decided to go on a vacation to Maine like they do every summer.
They lived in West Hartford, Connecticut. Dave loved Connecticut and so did his three brothers,
Steven, Rob, and Peter.
They all packed their bags and got in their brand new car, and headed off. They sang road trip
songs, and played their road trip games. They eventually got bored and just slept the rest of the
way. The next morning, they all woke from their nice slumber and jumped out of the car.
We re here! We re here! Steven yelped as he was running for the cottage..

slumber. They got their swim trunks on so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

it s 90 degrees outside. Also, he learned how it s really hard to get around when your 11 feet long

from another country, he found Dave s parents!
AAAAHHHHH Dave s mom yelled, grasping a pole to steady herself from falling.
This scared the giant lobster, and he tried to grasp the pole too! Unfortunately, the lobster was
way to heavy and the flagpole fell. It was about to hit Dave s dad, but fortunately, the giant lobster
grabbed him gently with his pincers and moved him out of the way. When he was dropped down
from the big blue pincers, he thanked the lobster sheepishly and hid his face. Although they
couldn t see it, the lobster was smiling and in his language, muffled, your welcome!! Off the
lobster went to find help. By this time, it was dark and the Giant Lobster was very tired and he
hadn t found anyone to help him. So, he went back to the harbor to sleep.
Dave woke up bright and early so he could go say hi to the lobster. He walked down the mossy
stones from the cottage, down to the shore. He stopped on the steps and

Indian Gaming Reservation Pros And Cons
Pros and Cons of gaming and tourism in Indian reservations Indian Reservation has been
participative in gaming ever since time memorial. However, participating rate rose rapidly in
1980 s when a land mark legal case approved the natives to choose gaming as a source of
economy, revenue and employment. It is these litigations that opened the avenues for the tribes
to engage in gaming activities. It is often believed by the general majority that Indian
reservations possess huge amount of money generally because of gaming. However, according
to Miller J. (2012), he doesn t agree with the general majority. Although he doesn t dispute that
Indian gaming is single largest source of annual revenues, Miller argues not all the reservations
in Indian have gaming facilities. Most dominant facilities of gaming are casinos. Gaming is
divided into three classes by Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that was passed in 1988. Class I
gaming were social games or traditional games. Class II games were bingo and card games and

The Legacy of the Molly Maguires and Their Impact on Laborer Organizations
The decades between 1860 and 1880, a small Irish gang emerged in the coal mines of
Pennsylvania. Due to the prejudice and maltreatment of non Anglo Saxon immigrants in the United
States, the Irish forced into working in horrible conditions for such little pay and barely any
security or fair compensation when they were injured. The legacy the Mollies left behind was not
only the gory truth about what happens when prejudices get in the way, but their battles were only
the beginning in creating unions and labor strikes. The Molly Maguires serve as they martyr for the
battered and abused workforce of the 19th century.
The Molly Maguires are a group of men in Pennsylvania who emigrated from Ireland to look for
job opportunities in the great new world America had sold itself as. Originally being founded as a
Protestant dominant country, fleeing from religious persecution, there was some tension between
Americans and Catholics, in this case the Irish. Unable to find a union that would accept the
Irishmen they were, the Mollies formed their secret organization because of their frustrations
against their employers, when their needs were not met, they resorted to violence and strikes . The
Molly Maguires, or Mollies, were labeled cruel, brutal terrorists in their court hearings. These
alleged Mollies got their name after the Irish group in Ireland that existed in the years

  • 2. Sustainability Reporting Of The United States Abstract Sustainability reporting in the United States is still a work in progress. While more countries around the world are requiring companies to report the effects of their business activities as part of their annual report, this practice is still voluntary in the US. Even though sustainability reporting is not required, companies generally disclose sustainable information on their websites or through social media. Being social responsible builds a certain type of bond that brings internal and external stakeholders together. Many companies in the US have taken action and developed their corporate governance model that will meet their needs as well as the needs of the people around them, thus creating a better environment for shareholders and stakeholders. Currently, most companies that issue sustainability reporting follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards guidelines. The GRI standards are designed to achieve transparency, and it has become the most common set of standards used amongst organizations for sustainability reporting. This research paper was written with the purpose of providing some answers as to why sustainability reporting in the United States should be mandated by regulators. The paper briefly describes the GRI standards and guidelines, the benefits of sustainability reporting, some relative advantages limitations in adopting sustainability reporting, as well as provides a few examples of companies that have successfully adopted ... A closed campus, in Asian countries such as China and South Korea, are set up where walls are built around the college campus so that only students or faculty may enter the premises. The students of closed campuses probably have less stress and higher grades, thus higher productivity. Albeit students have more freedom to do whatever they wish to do on an open campus, students are developing a need to enroll in a college with a closed campus due to, all needs or wants being available on campus, less traffic, and the overall safety for students and faculty. Commodities such as restaurants are available around the clock. Many famous restaurants, though many being fast food, set up shops within college campuses. Students can enjoy a wide variety of options ranging from pizza to ethnic cuisines right there on campus all day long. College students eternally need a place to rest so that they may relax after a long day s work. Often, students go to the quad and play a game of catch with friends. Students can go to the recreational rec center where swimming pools, hot tubs, workout machines, and gaming stations are available at the students disposal. Having areas where students may relax around campus is the better alternative, opposed to having to leave campus to relax. She created a few exercises to help the actors and actresses practice by themselves. She states that when doing these exercises, to not look for interesting events and to use real props. She really stresses the importance of rehearsing your lines. Basic Object Exercises: The way that you rehearse should be definite and concise. Practice a lot but when actually performing it, act as if it was impulsive. This text helped me to understand Hagen s form and approach to acting. Whenever I see people act on TV, I think, wow! • 5. Descriptive Essay About My Favorite Place For many people there is a sweet smell, a pleasing photograph, the familiar sound of happiness that bring them back to a place full of childhood images. In my life, I was lucky enough to have traveled to some of the most beautiful places on Earth. I have swum with the dolphins in crystal blue sea of Phuket Thailand and watch golden ray of the sunshine set behind mount Fuji in Japan. However, no places earth will compare to the loveliness of my childhood paradise, a place I called home. Barbara Kingsolver writes, I have a place where all my stories begin, and my story began at a lake house located on the water edge of Little Toad Lake, Minnesota. (Kingsolver 939). It is where I spent half my life with my dog (Spike), sister, mom, and dad, through the hot summer days and freezing winter months. The house was built on the side of a steep hill leading down to a beach front lake. The main entrance had a big double iron door which lead into the living room overlooking the lake. The main living area had several big windows which let in a brilliant of sunlight onto the dark walnut floor. The fireplace mantle displays a big moose head that my dad shot on his hunting trip to Alaska (his prize possession). My favorite place of the house would be the kitchen. That s where all my lessons of cooking started. Thank you to my mom for teaching me the value of cooking. If it wasn t for her I would be eating ramens every day at college. Oh, the memories we had at the lake house. In the spring, my mom, sister, and I go on long walks in the woods to go mushroom hunting because who doesn t love free food. I remember making mushroom soup for the first time and almost burning my hands off because I forgot to turn the stove down to low and the pot was overflowing onto the floor. I could still remember the facial expression on my mom s face, let just say she was not a happy camper. One summer day, my sister and I were out fishing with my mom on the pontoon and we were catching a lot of fish and out of nowhere it started pouring rain. My mom started the pontoon and guess what? We ran out of gas in the middle of the lake. It took as over two hours to paddle back to shore but thank goodness it stopped raining. To this day we still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My 8th grade boys were having a hard time singing do to voice changes. I tried to keep the boys up in their falsetto and while this worked for a few boys the others we not able to produce certain notes. When boys voices start to change it can result in them only being able to sing a very limited amount of notes. We worked on high trills, sliding, humming, yawning, held long tones, among many of other to help support their changing voices. After our first concert I talked with my boys and they had mentioned that they felt very discouraged about singing because some of them simply are not producing notes or can only sing in a low rumble. Rachel mentioned to me that her boys were just starting to transition and she was noticing large gaps in her group as well. Combining both groups would result in a higher confidence level, tone production, and create a full choir sound. This is one of the reasons why we combined the groups. ... The Membrane Of The Cone Cells Several researchers like (Burakova and Mazokhin Porshnyakov, 1982; Mishra and Meyer Rochow, 2008a) confirmed that the vesicles originate from inflation of the interretinular strands and are simply extensions of the cone cells. Shaw (1978) considered the presence of vesicles around the rhabdomere to be a typical feature of dark/lightadaption. The location of the interretinular spaces suggests two possible functions. The first is to make physical contact with the rhabdomeres because both of them disappear in the nuclear region. The second, physiological function by increase sensitivity at the cost of resolution the presence of a palisade, which bodice the pigment granules away from the rhabdom. However a recent debate over same sex marriage has stirred a nationwide debate reverberating in the halls of Congress, at the White House, in dozens of state courtrooms and legislatures, and is also becoming a speech making topic for election campaigns at both the national and state levels. As the debate for this controversial topic rages on, the American religious community view on the topic remains deeply divided over the matter and over the morality of homosexualityin general. Granting legal marriage right to gays and lesbians would primarily alter the idea of marriage, ignore a child s right to a mother and father, and expands government control of marriage.... People against same sex marriage can use the doctrine that separates states from church in order to stop the government from compelling them to accept a new definition of marriage. Under this doctrine, if the government decides to grant the legal right to same sex marriage, the government will be violating the freedom of religion of people under the civil rights of the Constitution, who hold the deep believe that homosexuality is morally wrong in the society. The role of marriage in the society is a major topic that it is thought in public schools. If same sex marriage is legalized, public schools would have to teach the pupil about same sex marriage as equivalent to opposite sex marriage which will violate the beliefs of many parents who are against same sex marriage. According to Stanley Kurtz, a social commentator, he argued that among the likeliest effects of legalizing same sex marriage is to take us down a slippery slope to legalized polygamy and polyamory. Summary Of Peter Eisinger s Essay Is Detroit Dead In his essay Is Detroit Dead?, Peter Eisinger investigates the slow decay and degradation of the city of Detriot, and argue that it is no longer a living city. He uses the analogy of a patient who is diagnosed with a terminal disease to help prove his point. Eisinger looks at the lack of self governance, inefficient and eroding public services, and the shallow indigenous labour pool in Detroit, to sustain his argument that Detroit is on the cusp of death. As well, he uses other literature that points out the mass migration of Detroiters that started in the 1950s, and the rapid decline of the auto industry. He argues that the city does not have an elected official running the city; instead, the state appointed a bankruptcy lawyer, Kevyn Orr, who answers only to the state governor (Eisinger, 2013). As such, Orr does not serve the residents of Detroit specifically, which Eisinger states is a central urban function of a city. Instead, Orr is primarily in charge of recasting the city budget and selling assets to help pay off the extraordinary debt, and published a report of the situation in Detroit in 2013. Eisinger also argues that the public services in Detroit are in crisis. The effectiveness and efficiency of the police department is extremely low (Eisinger, 2013), and that the public transportation system is unreliable; it should be noted that Detroit is one of the few cities in the United States without public transportation between the city and its major airport. (Eisinger, 2013). As well, Eisinger states that the indigenous labour pool holds little attraction to employers in technology or information fields. (Eisinger, 2013). The city is the 94th least educated in the United States, and less than 15% of city adults have a college or postgraduate education (Eisinger, 2013). The topic of this essay is, how does The Lego Movie demonstrate that those in a role of leadership can have the power to rule in positive or negative or positive ways. This prompt will be shown with evidence from the movie focusing on some certain characters. The characters that will be focused on are Emmet, President Business and Vitruvius. President business is a perfect example of the fact that having a leadership role can give someone the chance and power to rule in a positive or negative way. As a president he had a lot of power. He abused this right. He used his power for his own gain to get things how he wanted them to be. With the amount of power that he had he was able to cover all this up and make sure nobody knew. This is evidence of how having a leadership role can give anyone the chance to make a positive or negative impact. This example is of someone in a leadership role making a negative impact on the people and lives around him. In the speech he gave on the television of all the citizens he says things like I am the president of the octan cooperates and the world. Both terms are used to create central themes for the four stories we read in our english class. All of these stories include characters that present greed or charity. In The Gift of the Magi, the wife and the husband both gave up their prized possessions to get their significant other a gift. Since the couple were poor and wanted to satisfy each other with a wonderful gift, they had to give up what they never thought they would have before. • 39. The Influence Of The Renaissance Witch Hunts Renaissance Witch Hunts The witch hunts took place during the 1450 s to the 1750 s, most notably in England and Salem, Massachusetts. They also took place in Italy and other smaller places in the United States. women were always witches, almost never men and there were a ridiculous amount of things that would accuse you of being a witch. If you wore black, you were a witch. If you enjoyed reading, you were a witch. If you had a mole/birthmark, you were a witch. The reasons go on and on but I won t bore you with that. What is witchcraft/witches Witch craft is defined as a form of sorcery and often portrayed as a sign of the devil, the practice of magic, especially black magic; the use of spells and the invocation of spirits, according to the dictionary. Unfortunately, this is not a concrete answer because the definition would imply this being a bad thing. The existence of glinda the good witch contradicts this statement. Also the wicca religion makes the definition a little questionable because they don t necessarily practice witchcraft with evil intent. They do match up with the things that would make you a witch,(Connecting with nature and other things) they don t match the stereotypical look of a witch with the large and deformed nose, pointed hat and broom flying abilities. We don t have a clear cut idea for what witchcraft is but, we have a general idea as to what it is. As to what witches are, they are people who practice/is accused of practicing witchcraft and ... They have to leave their family and friends, just as we do, but at a much farther distance. I cannot imagine amount of money and time it must take to plan a trip across the world, all for a new, exciting learning experience. Right now, many of us have just moved to a large university and begun a life on our own. It seems like a tough idea to grasp when you are just starting to look at colleges, while still in high school or another point in your life. She likes the Iowa State campus, as it is comfortable to her. I asked Jennifer what some of the differences are here in America as compared to Indonesia. She said that the classes in her city were small and students were to shy to ask questions. Here, there are larger classes and more active students. She also said that people converse a lot more here than in Indonesia. Americans spend a lot more time interacting in this way. One trivial fact I learned was that in Indonesia you become boyfriend or girlfriend with someone before you go on any dates. Here, of course, it is usually the opposite case. Jennifer also told me of a few similarities she has noticed while spending time in the U.S. First, we are all students, working toward a goal. Each person has his or her own personal goal and way of working. Also, group work is an enormous part of the Iowa State community. She said that in Indonesia, group work is not encouraged quite as much, but it is still an important element of a good education. Also, imagine what international students think about the terrorism of the last week. Can you believe that it might be tough for them to handle the American s sad and angry feelings? Do you think they might be worrying about their family and friends back home? I believe that it is hard for anyone to endure a change in life. They have a wide variety in their selection of habitat; they will live by fields, farmlands, hedgerows, and shrubby cover near the edges of forests. They need an area with grass and low brushy areas for escape and nesting areas. The nest of a cottontail is usually right near the edge of a field with edge vegetation. Cottontails love being by the edge of a field and a wooded area, but still need a lot of interior cover inside the forest (Gaudette 1 3). Fragmentation may be the biggest threat to biodiversity. This festival corresponds to harvest festival s observed by Western cultures (in Hong Kong, it is held in conjunction with the annual Lantern Festival). Contrary to what most people believe, this festival probably has less to do with harvest festivities than with the philosophically minded chinese of old. The union of man s spirit with nature in order to achieve perfect harmony was the fundamental canon of Taoism, so much so that contemplation of nature was a way of life. • 43. Existentialism In Catcher In The Rye At least once in someone s lifetime, a rocky phase filled with tasks and barriers that are challenging to overcome will occur. In fact, if one has to fulfill these said duties in such ways that it ends up becoming a regular routine, one might start to question the meaning of life. Isolation, feeling lonely, or believing that regulations set by higher authorities are controlling one s individuality connect with a concept known as existentialism. In J.D Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, it is evident that Holden is against societal norms and he cannot form relationships with his peers due to his peculiar attitude. As Holden is frequently mean spirited, this prevents him from fitting in. Hence, examining the way Holden interacts with others reveals that Salinger purposely wrote this novel with the intention of clarifying the concept of alienation by making Holden express his anti social behavior to the readers through a first person narrative. Salinger expresses Holden s alienation since his thoughts that he shares are melancholic, how he constantly tries forming relationships within age groups that are vastly different from his, and the fact that others are infuriated/uninterested with his conversations. What is perhaps the most symbolic aspect of Holden s alienation are his own actions and thoughts shown to the audience. Obviously, when intrusive thoughts affect an individual, it most likely links with isolation; this is what Holden exactly experiences. Throughout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another strength of this article is the statement about strategic thinking. Fiona (2002) points out that the central to sustain competitive advantage is to have a creative and divergent strategic thinking. Natural Rate Of Unemployment Essay Natural rate of unemployment The natural rate of unemployment (sometimes called the structural unemployment rate) is a concept of economic activity developed in particular by Milton Friedman and Edmund Phelps in the 1960s, both recipients of the Nobel prize in economics. In both cases, the development of the concept is cited as a main motivation behind the prize.[1][2] It represents the hypothetical unemployment rate consistent with aggregate production being at the long run level. This level is consistent with aggregate production in the absence of various temporary frictions such as incomplete price adjustment in labor and goods markets. The natural rate of unemployment therefore corresponds to the unemployment rate prevailing under a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, the prices a company charges are closely connected to the wages it pays. Figure 1 shows a typical Phillips curve fitted to data for the United States from 1961 to 1969. The close fit between the estimated curve and the data encouraged many economists, following the lead of Paul Samuelson and Robert Solow, to treat the Phillips curve as a sort of menu of policy options. For example, with an unemployment rate of 6 percent, the government might stimulate the economy to lower unemployment to 5 percent. Figure 1 indicates that the cost, in terms of higher inflation, would be a little more than half a percentage point. But if the government initially faced lower rates of unemployment, the costs would be considerably higher: a reduction in unemployment from 5 to 4 percent would imply more than twice as big an increase in the rate of inflation about one and a quarter percentage points. At the height of the Phillips curve s popularity as a guide to policy, Edmund Phelps and Milton Friedman independently challenged its theoretical underpinnings. They argued that well informed, rational employers and workers would pay attention only to real wages the inflation adjusted purchasing power of money wages. In their view, real wages would adjust to make the supply of labor equal to the demand for labor, and the unemployment rate would then stand at a level uniquely associated with that real wage the natural rate of unemployment. Elizabeth Hall May 2nd, 2016 The Legacy of the Molly Maguires and Their Impact on Laborer Organizations The decades between 1860 and 1880, a small Irish gang emerged in the coal mines of Pennsylvania. Due to the prejudice and maltreatment of non Anglo Saxon immigrants in the United States, the Irish forced into working in horrible conditions for such little pay and barely any security or fair compensation when they were injured.
