Our primary means of research was the internet. We found most of our sources by exploring the many
professional actuarial groups, and looking through their collections of articles and periodicals. We
found that our best sources were from professional organizations such as the Society of Actuaries, and
the Casualty Actuarial Society, both publish periodicals with reliable articles from accredited
actuaries. This method of searching through articles put out by professional organizations was most
effective for us because all of the articles were written by fully qualified actuaries who have first hand
experience working through the ethical conflicts that we describe in our report. All our articles are first
reviewed by the professional organization that publishes them, to ensure that they contain accurate,
and relevant information, which allowed us to keep all our conclusions professional and our
arguments strong. We also used several court documents containing actuarial testimonies about policy

We examined the effect of cultural difference on correspondence bias. The aim of this study was to
compare levels of correspondence bias in attitude attributions in Malaysians with levels of such bias in
Australians where is individualistic. We had 40 participants from Malaysia and 40 participants from
Australia between the ages 18 30 year olds. The study was entirely in the English language; also it was
administered on the internet. We recruited participants via English language Facebook advertisements.
The participants completed tasks evaluating their age, gender and nationality. Based on the essay
content condition, the participants were divided in half; half of the participants were asked to read an
essay that opposed capital punishment (anti capital punishment), on the other hand the other half read
an essay that supported capital punishment (pro capital punishment). Participants were asked to write
an essay according to their choice condition half of them had no choice condition and the other half
had choice condition. The results of this research were that correspondence bias does emerge in both
Malaysian and Australian participants. In conclusion our study looked at correspondence bias in two
different cultures. The finding of our study was that correspondence bias emerges in both Malaysian
and Australian participants. On daily bases we as humans act differently, our attitudes are different; the

4. Samir Kassir describes Arabs perpetual sense of malaise, or despair, and argues that it is possible
for the Arab states to become secular democracies and adopt the principles of equality and justice.
This is characterized by, chronic rates of illiteracy, inordinate disparities between rich and poor,
overpopulation of cities and desertification of land . Some of the causes of the Arab Malaise is the
gaze of the western other, feelings of being left behind, sense of powerlessness and geography.
The gaze of the western other, is a condescending gaze that reaffirms the inferiority of Muslim
societies, preventing everything even escape and inability to overcome insurmountable condition,
(Kassir). Further, Arab Malaise is worsened by the fact that Arab societies used to be comparable to
East Asian, Latin American and Sub Saharan African states. However, to Arabs, that is no longer the
case with all states except for the Arab societies moving toward democratic and technologically
advanced societies. The third cause of Arab Malaise is the sense of powerless to act and affirm
existence in face of other s domination that Arabs feel. This sense of powerlessness was reinforced by
Iraq US intervention where Arab community was unable to fight against American intervention. Also,
when Israel was established in Palestinian territory, the Palestinians could not fight back because of
the strong American unfailing support of Israel, making Israel capable of literally do anything it wants,
(Kassir, 8). Geography was also an important factor in creating malaise. The Arab world is situated
between two continents and has its own sense of tradition, and identity, however, Arabs are constantly
reminded of colonial powers and presence on their territory today through the presence of Israel. The
defeat against Israel in 1948 (Nakba) was a great humiliation and blow to the Arabs because it
signified that colonial rule was to be perpetually present in the Arab World for centuries to come.
Finally, the existence of oil in the region is a source of instability and malaise. The oil attracts western
