Why I Get An A In Geography
There are many reasons why I should get an A in Geography. First, I am new to High School and not
used to the changes that come along with it. Another reason is that I have been very open minded and I
have tried my best to learn and understand the material being taught. Lastly, I have been very busy
balancing everything, and I have still made education my highest priority.
The first reason why I should get an A in this class is because this is my first year of high school and I
am new to everything the classes, the people, and the business. And yes, I realize that there are 900
other freshmen who are new to it also, but it has been hard for me, I m not good at adjusting to
change. In 8th grade I wasn t on the Swim Team, so I had pretty much a clear day after school. I had
honors classes, but they weren t super difficult. Now there are so many different things to balance ...

I was in the G.A.T.E. Program (gifted and talented education) from fourth grade to sixth grade. I am
very open to learning new things and I enjoy learning new concepts. I have listened well to the things
being taught in class, taken notes, and I have participated in discussions and asked questions so that I
could learn the material well. I have also tried very hard to do the assignments. I am a major
procrastinator/perfectionist and I am not very good at doing my work. This comes from being an
Honors student; I don t like rough drafts . When writing a paper, I want to sit down and write a perfect
essay on my first try. When this doesn t work, I get frustrated and I put off the assignment until the last
minute. This has always been a problem for me, but this year (Freshman year) I have tried my hardest
to go easy on myself and just do my work instead of procrastinating. Even though I haven t gotten it
perfect quite yet, I am still trying my hardest to get my assignments

Analysis Of Oath Of The Horatii
Oath of the Horatii is life size oil on canvas painting that is about thirteen feet wide by ten feet tall.
The painting was done by Jacques Louis David, who was the leading Neoclassical painter in France
during the eighteenth century. David rejected the Rococo style that was popular of that time, which
was characterized by fantasy and playfulness. David was interested in painting images with antiquity.
The Oath of the Horatii has elements of classical Greek and Roman art and architecture. Oath of the
Horatii was a political painting that David had comprised to stimulate the publics attention (Fred S.
Kleiner 680).
Oath of the Horatii captures a heroic and patriotic moment. Something big is happening in this
composition. There are three Horatii brothers taking an oath, which is being administered by their
father. The oath they are taking is to live or die for their country, which happens to be Rome. While
taking this oath, the Horatii brothers are facing their father. They stand in unison with one another.
They each have one leg and arm extending out. The father holds three swords up and out towards the
Horatii brothers in the same pose. The Horatii brothers extended arms are saluting towards the swords.
The postures of all four men appear upright and strong. There is no emotion of fear on their faces. The
brothers appear athletic and fit. This can be seen in the muscular details of their legs and arms. They
appear bold and ready to sacrifice their lives. The father does not

Two Major Characteristics Of Organic Growth
1. Describe two major ways in which a company can grow. Give examples to illustrate the two ways
of growing. Every entrepreneur drives towards growth. Usually the desire to become bigger, access a
larger client base, increase earnings and wealth is a major goal of all business owners. Usually growth
can be organic or inorganic. Organic growth is the one orchestrated and fueled primarily by the
activities and expansion within the organization. It involves increasing marketing activities and also
sales, hiring additional staff members, opening up the organization in new territories and may even
involve diversification into new businesses and creation of new product lines. In certain instances
some companies segment the market and create products targeted at the various segments after a
careful understanding of the characteristics of the various segment. A classic example of organic
growth is seen in the brewery/bottling industry. It is not unusual to see companies in this sector offer
multiple products targeted at a different portion of the population. Beer from sorghum extracts and the
ones from barley extracts are identified and packaged separately from pure 100% ethanol based
drinks. Each is produced for a different crowds. Most breweries also have water purification units as
part of the production process so lately, many of them have also ventured into the commercial
production of bottled water. It s a similar strategy with most bottling outfits. The production of

Starbucks Case
March 4, 2013 [Starbucks ] Starbucks Case Questions In the early 1980 s, how did Howard Schultz
view the possibilities for the fledgling specialty coffee market? What were the most important factors
in shaping his perspective? In the early 1980 s Howard Schultz, became captivated and saw
possibilities in the fledgling specialty coffee market as he studied and observed that only a few
Independent specialty coffee roasters existed and most of these businesses were small operations
without large advertising budgets. Schultz recognized that many companies such as Peet s and

His belief was that wherever there was a cluster of customers ordering his product it would make good
business sense to establish an outlet somewhere around the cluster. Another of Schultz critical drivers
were the layout and design and fixtures. Schultz had invested time and money to ensure that each
outlet was identical to each other as it forms a part of the experience which he wanted to create for his
business. To achieve this Schultz had hired an architect as his businesses expanded to ensure that the
design was achieved in all his stores. To ensure that this was achieved Schultz would be in attendance
at all locations during the opening and the start up of each outlet. Schultz tried to standardize his
business practices so as to achieve quality in all his outlets. Training of his employees was a critical
driver for Schultz business as he was of the opinion that they should be knowledgeable about the
service product and the service delivery offered to customers. He further believed that without his
employees being knowledgeable about the product and how to offer quality service to customers so
that they will not return. Also, Schultz wanted to educate his customers about the origin of the product
and get them knowledgeable about the product they purchase. Schultz competitors had not included
this activity in their sales strategy, for example Peet s. This he opined

Communication Technology Is Taking A New Phase Day By Day
Career Episode 1
Introduction
CE 1.1
Communication technology is taking a new phase day by day. In olden days there use to be two to
three people to turn ON and OFF an instrument or appliance but in present generation we are
operating the instruments with remote and wireless source, so this increasing technology growth
developed a keen interest in doing this project, which is described in this career episode done in my
tenure of bachelor of technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Chronology: (January 2010 March 2010)
Geographical location: India
Organization Name: Holy Mary Institute of Science and Technology
Project Name: Relay Driver Circuit using an IC ULN2003
Title of Position: Student
Subject: Embedded Systems
Background
CE 1.2
This project comes under the area of embedded system and the circuit comes under the IC based on
the electromagnetic switch. In most of the projects, I have seen or observed that the loads are actually
controlled by using a microcontroller block and also the loads managing techniques. To carry out this
project, I had used multiple sources of information and spent more hours in the college laboratory.
Abstract
CE 1.2.1
I know how relays are important in the circuits and the embedded systems and the relay driver IC is
generally used as an electromagnetic switch. In order to control the loads in the circuits via
microcontroller block, the relay that acts as the switch is used. Moreover, it depends on the signals

This Case Study Is About Applying Qfd In A Managed Care
This case study is about applying QFD in a Managed Care Organization. To enhance total quality and
the complete performance of an organization, it is essential to connect the products and services to
consumers as well as the production procedure. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) involves the
method of delivering top of the line services to consumers by meeting their needs. It requires
transforming customer requirements into the appropriate technical requirements involved with all
aspects of service delivery (Evans Lindsay 2016).
To identify with the importance of QFD, it is vital that an organization lets consumers help with
establishing and formatting quality standards. Before the case study, the consumers involved with
these services ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some technical requirements mentioned in the survey include font size and color, table of contents,
updates, information that is easy to read and understand, and a section with questions and answers. In
contrast, the customer requirements include what the QFD process is, and this is often expressed or
measured by quality. For the information acquired in this section to be useful there needs to be a way
to convince them so they will favor measuring by quantity. Information obtained here can be used as
the basis for improving service design and modifying the necessary products (Dror Sukenik 2011)
One important step required by the QFD process act involves the groundwork needed to build strong
relationships with the customers as well as ones within the organization. The second one involves
finding a balance between customer needs and what is provided by the company. When the MCO in
the case study gathered enough information it was determined that a strong connection existed
between technical and customer requirements. As a result, this points out why the sales and marketing
department needs to find ways that will successfully attract the attention of potential clients as well as
incentives to keep them loyal. Before beginning the promotional market method, a sales department
should ensure that the promotional material is designed in a way that is easy to see as well as easy to
read so that necessary information can be understood (Keller,

Bp s ( British Petroleum ) Oil Spill Crisis
We decided to look closer at BP s (British Petroleum) oil spill crisis in 2010. It is British multinational
oil and Gas Company, their headquarter is based on London, England. According to PFC Energy, it is
the fifth largest company in the world measured by revenues in 2012, and the sixth largest in oil and
gas industry if measured by production in 2012. BP s annual report states that as of December 2013,
BP operates in approximately 80 countries. On April 20, 2010 the explosion and sinking of Deepwater
Horizon oil rig happened, it was located in the Gulf of Mexico. The well was finally capped on July
15, 2010. By that time an estimated 4.9 million barrels of oil had leaked into the Gulf (ocean.si.edu).
This awful tragedy killed 11 people. Unfortunately, this is not the only example of environmental
harm. Companies in oil industry cause various environmental problems. According to
LyndenEnergy.com, exploration, development and production operations of oil and natural gas are
subject to all the risks and hazards typically associated with such operations, including hazards such as
fire, explosion, blowouts, cratering, sour gas releases and spills . Each of these hazards could result in
substantial damage to the environment. Oil business includes so many environmental risks that all its
phases are subject to multiple regulations by federal, state and local laws. As stated at
LyndenEnergy.com, environmental legislation provides for, among other things, restrictions and

The Pros And Cons Of The Rogue State
During the Bush presidency years, however, the definition of rogue state has become increasingly
muddled. It now takes account not simply of how states interact with other states, but also of how
particular regimes treat their own people. From President Bush s perspective, a state can be classified
as a rogue if it denies freedom to some of its citizens. He views the rogue state as the chief threat to
global order. His foreign policies, thus, aim either to alter the behavior of rogue states, or, failing that,
to eliminate those regimes that refuse to play by the rules. The Bush Doctrine advances three core
propositions:
(1) Preemption, or America s declared right to a war to thwart a suspected attack; (2) an

one that presents terrorism as threat that necessitates reprisal and preemptive measures and produces

Sexual Assault On Women In The Military
The amount of sexual assaults on women in the U.S. military rests unbearably great. In a 2006 study,
it showed that female veterans financed by the Department of Veterans Affairs estimated that about 23
33 percent of women have been assaulted, compared to the 17 percent of women in the general
population. As well as this study a recent Pentagon report had showed that in the academic year of
2010 2011 there we 65 reported assaults that involved female cadets and midshipmen. Since many
victims are too terrified to come forward about their attacks, it is estimated that about 19,000 assaults
took place in the year of 2011. This number is six times the number of attacks reported. There have
been many attempts to fight this issue, such as giving

Clinical Decision Support System Analysis
A computer program that several doctors and hospitals are now using to manage patient care is a
clinical decision support system (CDSS). These programs theoretically will compile the patient s
medical history, access the long term treatments, and help in the diagnosis process with the
information accumulated from multiple areas within the program. The four main functions of the
program are administrative, managing clinical complexity and details, cost control and decision
support. The systems have been created for time management, to retain more precise records and to
assist in the diagnosis process for physicians. This allows for consistent and standardized care.
Multiple inquiries and apprehensions arise with the use of a CDSS program. The computer program
can only amass the information that is entered into the system. It is imperative that the managing,

those decisions? If a physician assistant sees a patient and the program gives a diagnosis, is the patient
truly getting the proper care, what about the accuracy of the invoice? Will this allow a less qualified
individual to make decisions in regard to the patients health care that may not be within the scope of
the job? Will there become a point that doctors rely too much on the CDSS? In my opinion, the
greatest fear would be a data breach with the amount of personal and medical health information
collected at businesses using a CDSS program. The most advanced and stringent security measures
would be imperative. Although having interoperability among the numerous different CDSS programs
could be beneficial, it also opens the door for increased

Funeral processions always proceed quot;slowly quot; and often majestically. The speaker in the
poem, who is dead, has certainly put away her labor and leisure to confront Death s quot;courtly
civility. quot; We might take quot;Immortality quot; at face value, but immortality is not a person; it is
each individual s concept of quot;unending existence quot; or quot;lasting fame, quot; according to
Webster s. The word then has no quot;face value. quot;
Ruth Miller reads quot;paused quot; literally, and sees quot;no burial quot; (193 94). But can we take
words literally? I think not. Because quot;Centuries [. . .] Feel shorter than the Day quot; in this poem,
a quot;pause quot; can constitute a complete if brief stop for burial in what Dickinson describes
precisely: an above ground, or partlyabove and partly below ground, burial vault; a key to the deeper
meaning of the poem. We may also note that any burial in the time frame of eternity is but a pause.
Burial vaults were once formed by two parallel dry stone walls, six to eight feet apart, six to eight feet
high. The vaults had a stone slab or corbeled roof, a back wall, and a dry stone facade with a portal
closed by a door (or slab of marble or slate) inscribed, when used for burial, with the names of the
interred. The entire structure was banked with earth and sod and

invertebrate that is native to both areas. The comparison that is to be made is the average total length
of Palaemonetes vulgaris between these two environments. The alternate hypothesis is because of
human interaction occurring in the waters of unprotected areas, the Palaemonetes vulgaris will have a
shorter average total length there. The null hypothesis is there is no difference in the size of

The protected areas of Fort DeSoto will have larger specimens than the unprotected areas of Eckerd
College, because of the protection rights that Fort DeSoto has in place. Where Eckerd College is not a
protected environment the Palaemonetes vulgaris are open to over fishing areas. The results could
have different outcomes based on a change in locations where the Palaemonetes vulgaris were
sampled. Based on the results, the null hypothesis is rejected because the Palaemonetes vulgaris in
Fort DeSoto are of greater average total length (mm) than in Boca Ciega Bay at Eckerd College.
Based on the results, the alternate hypothesis is accepted, because of human interactions at Eckerd
College, the Palaemonetes vulgaris have shorter average total length (mm) than Fort DeSoto. By using
Fort DeSoto s data from 2012 (5 years ago from today, 2017) the results may have changed
dramatically in the size and quantity of the Palaemonetes vulgaris. Knowing the correct formulas and

Example Of Monopoly In Monopoly
Do you think Indian Railway is an example for monopoly market? What are the types of price
discrimination that Indian railway practice?
Introduction
Indian railway is one of the best example for showing monopoly. In economics, monopoly exists when
delivery of a particular product or service is completely controlled by an individual or an enterprise.
Indian Railways is the state owned railway company of India having more than 64000 Kilometres of
track and 6909 stations. Indian railways has a position, which is not possible in perfectly competitive
markets, where it can charge different price to different group of consumers for an identical product,
even though the cost of each such saleable unit remains same.

4. Peak load pricing: Practice of charging higher prices during peak periods when capacity constraints
cause marginal costs to be high. Indian railway employs this type of discrimination by differential

Surface Segregation And Formation Of Silver Nanoparticles...
Surface Segregation and Formation of Silver Nanoparticles Created
In situ in Polyvinyl alcohol Films.
1 Introduction.
Preparation, characterization, and physical properties of a nanostructured materials of silver
(nanoparticles and nanocomposites) have been the subject of various researcher in many scientific
laboratories during the past years for many studies and it has been also established that size, stability,
color, shape, and properties depend on the method of preparation (radiation, photochemical,
electrochemical, and chemical) as well as experimental factors such as [reactants], [stabilizer and/or
capping agents], temperature, order of mixing of reactants, presence of stabilizers and capping agents
and even on the addition rate of reducing agents [1 12].
The properties of such nanocomposites can further be improved through various treatments like,
annealing, UV irradiation and Gamma irradiation is one of the extensively used tools to alter the
structural, optical properties [13, 14], Many of reports were used gamma irradiation to synthesis the
Ag nanoparticles in PVA [15,16], and the other literature were prepared Ag PVA nanocomposite films
and then irradiated with gamma at doses (25, 50, 75, 100 KGy) [17]. According to this literature the
absorption peak intensity at 427 nm for silver nanoparticles is increased with increasing the gamma
doses, until the higher doses 100 KGy, its decrease and the reason for this behaviour at higher doses

A Brief Look at Playing Tennis
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
In affluent society, playing tennis is a sport which requires high endurance, patience and full physical
strength s activity. Besides, it also requires equipment which is the tennis racquet. In the early century,
most of the tennis racquets were made of laminated wood, with heads of around 65 in sq. [1] At that
time, most of the tennis players have faced a problem during playing the tennis as the wooden
racquets seem quite obsolete or perhaps even inadequate. In details, it is too far and too slow, weak, or
heavy for professional tennis players who increasingly measure from the length that much higher
about six feet. [1] Figure 1.1.1: Wooden tennis racquet
In the late 1960s, T2000 steel tennis racquets were produced in which featured a wire wound around
the frame to make string loops. [2] The steel tennis racquets were started to replace the wooden tennis
racquets in order to solve the heavy and weak problems that caused by wooden tennis racquets as steel
is stronger and lighter than wood. Although the steel tennis racquets is better than the wood racquet,
the tennis players still faced a problem in terms of swing strength. Figure 1.1.2: Steel tennis racquet
When the tennis racquet technologies came in 1975, an aluminium racket was introduced. This
material was lighter than steel and allowed the construction of oversized tennis rackets. At that
moment, the players could hit with more spin on the ball with 100+ in sq head sizes.

Slimline with the world s first carbon neutral textile facility. Each partner brings something to the
table that the others cannot, which is why they chose to participate in the joint venture.
3. From the perspective of each of the partners, there are potential pitfalls to joining this joint venture.
Each company is grouped with two other partners, which is risky because there are greater liabilities.
If one of the partner s reputations suffers, as a result, all of the partner s reputations under Slimline
will as well suffer. They need to work as a team and continue to do what they are doing in order to
continue growing. They all have things that benefit each one, so yes there are pitfalls because without

B1 and B4 with her repetitive back and forth movements, hand flapping, and excessive touching of the

rubbing hands together, patting mouth and ears, clapping, and high pitched vocalizations. He appears

from the footage that the child meets criteria B1 in that he engages in repetitive motor movements
primarily with his hands. Throughout the video, the child is experiencing overstimulation to sensory

Brave New World Roles Of Women
In Aldous Huxley s Brave New World, a society is presented in which every aspect of life is tightly
controlled and humans are more like lifeless machines. However, in this attempt at a utopian society,
glimmers of humanity are shown through several characters in the novel. Though the characters
surrounding the central action are male, two very important women are also portrayed. These two
woman are used to not only dispute the sexism demonstrated by men, but also in response to the
women s rights issues at the time the novel was written. From the surface, one may conclude that
Huxley simply includes women in the plot to balance the story. However, when further examined, the
female characters, Linda and Lenina, are in many ways emotionally ... Show more content on

This again shows Lenina s attempt to escape from the harsh reality of her brainwashed society. All the
times that Lenina resorts to soma use, it is due to a recognition that her life and world are not perfect
and in control, but rather full of people who have no grasp on real freedom and control. Though she
does not directly fight the power that dominates society, her apperception of the problem exhibits a
greater intelligence and understanding of the Brave New World.
Lenina s final defining factor that separates her from the men in the novel, namely John, is her ability
to love. It appears to be a mutual love between Lenina and John, but it is exposed later that John s love
for her is only because of his love for his mother. Lenina on the other hand immediately thinks that
John is such a nice looking boy with a really beautiful body (117). This is the beginning of her
adoration of John. She wonders what it would be like to make love to a Savage (166) which makes
her curiosity and interest in John obvious. Finally to her friend Fanny she admits that she likes him

Romantic And Romanticism In Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
There is nothing more important than a good, safe, secure home .There s no question that the
Victorians were advocates of this viewpoint. Creating a safe and righteous home was one of their most
important social values that took precedence over anything else. However, this moral belief falls short
in comparison to Bronte s Wuthering Heights. The novel generates irony and unfamiliarity because of
all that attention given to the two houses. One would expect the novel to be only about devotion to
home and that the focus is on domesticity, when in fact it was absent. The Heights, a house which
opens to the living room ,suggests that the novel s main concern is managing a well ordered home
while it turns out to be at odds with the domestic ideals.

The novel reveals elements of realism and romanticism which qualifies it as a hybrid. There are many
features in that novel that exemplify the Romantic period like the settings and the characters. Despite
the fact that the novel did not indicate a happy ending, it still delivers a romantic story that deals with
a strange, yet original love story of underlying human passion and untamed human nature, which is a
conspicuous Romantic effect. As we all know Romantics appreciate nature to a great extent, and
nature / landscapes in that novel are exclusively given the central scope of symbolism, where the
settings carry expressions of themes and emotions. Wuthering Heights in its gothic setting alone is a
feature of Romanticism. Whether it was the Moors, the Grange or even the Heights, each setting was
described explicitly in relation to the inhabitants and their feelings towards those places. For example
Catherine rejecting a Christian heaven and her longing to inhabit an earthly one which is Wuthering

Nurse Retention And Retention
Many organizations have realized the key to their effectiveness lies in their ability to recruit and retain
capable nurses. Retention is a process that should be started before a nurse is hired and needs to be
continued until the nurse resigns.
Renewed attention has been directed at retention of nurses in a multigenerational workforce over the
past 10 to 20 years (Palumbo et al., 2009). The turnover rate of a new graduate ranges from 22.6% to
60% in the first year (Mills Mullins, 2008; Van Wyngeeren Stuart, n.d.), the average age of the nurse
is 45 years, and nurses begin to phase into retirement beginning at age 55 years.
In light of these facts, it is little wonder that nursing has begun to focus attention on expand¬ing
retention programs beyond the promotion of job satisfaction, safety, respect, and financial security
plans, and gain sharing (Palumbo et al., 2009) to the development of infrastructure services that meet
the diverse needs of current employees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hickory Dickory Dock Analysis
Hickory Dickory Dock
Nursery rhymes are poems that have an underline meaning. Nursery rhymes were used in a way to
relay a hidden message that spoke out against the British government. However, guardians and
educators communicated the significance of nursery rhymes to children at a youthful age, asserting
that they are critical for them to build up an urge for dialect, syllables, and rhythm. Individuals would
think that nursery rhymes were sweet and innocent, but in between those lines was a hidden message
that was derogatory. Nursery rhymes originated in Britain roughly around the seventeenth hundreds.
Many nursery rhymes were popular poems like Hickory Dickory Dock. Be that as it may, does
Hickory Dickory Dock have a mischievous significance behind its snappy tune?
Hickory Dickory Dock is a straightforward nursery rhyme about a mouse and a clock. However, it
presumably alludes to one of Britain s minimum rulers who showed up on the political scene in the
seventeenth century. This nursery rhyme initially published in 1743; yet, is thought to allude to
previous events in the earlier century. England was a republic between the execution of King Charles I
in 1649 and the reclamation of the government, under King Charles II, in 1660. Richard was given
power because his brother died which led him to take his throne. As a result, Richard Cromwell went

Essay On Optical Denoising
In Ophthalmology, Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non invasive imaging modality. It
provides a cross sectional view (tomography) of the retina tissue structures and is used widely to
identify and monitor various eye diseases [1]. However, OCT images are inevitably affected by noise
due to the interferometry nature of OCT imaging. Also, to avoid motion artifacts due to the fixation
eye movements, the OCT clinical images are often captured at lower than nominal sampling rates [1],
[2]. Therefore, effective denoising and interpolation algorithms are necessary for automated or even
manual OCT image analysis.
Interpolation and denoising are two of the most well known problems in image processing, and

These shortcomings can be mitigated using sparse models because they can be used with smaller
datasets and have intrinsic denoising and interpolation capability [21] [24].
In recent years, several researchers have utilized modern sparse representation and closely related
compressed sensing methods to devise various OCT image denoising and interpolation algorithms.
Compressed sensing methods have been presented with promising results to reconstruct both Fourier
[25] [27] and spatial domain SDOCT data [28] [30]. Although the former has been demonstrated
promising results, it needs imaging hardware modifications. Thus, we are interested in spatial domain
SDOCT reconstruction methods which are more applicable to end users of current clinical imaging
systems. In this regime, denoising and interpolating regularly sub sampled spatial domain SDOCT
images have been also shown as a promising approach [2], [12], [13].
Inspired by the natural image super resolution literature [21], [31] [34], Fang et al. [12], [13] have
tried to denoise and interpolate SDOCT images by proposing a fast coupled dictionary learning
approach. They clustered image patches space to learn a couple of LR HR dictionaries for each
subspace. Although the idea of adaptive dictionary selection has shown to be very effective for various
image restoration problems [22], [23],

Then, which leads into our more long term recommendation, the strong firms in the industry tend to
continue rising at a more steady and pro cyclical rate. Zynga has a particularly strong business model
that may be unseen by most investors. These reasons are that they, unlike many app based startups, do
not solely rely on advertising and banner ad revenue. While this makes up a substantial revenue
stream, they derive the majority of their profits from the sale of digital assets which incur little to no
variable costs. Also, Zynga s strength is, in part, tied to the strength of Facebook. Though many
people disagree with the immensity of Facebook s valuation, few would disagree with the fact that it is

Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia Essay
Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia
Despite making a recovery after the 1998 market crash, Russia remains weighted with numerous
holdovers from the Communist era that keep its economy from taking advantage of free market
reforms. In short, Russia has not prospered under capitalism because it has not yet discovered it. In
order to do so, the Russian government must engage in extensive reform in several key areas:
improving the rule of law, creating stable monetary policy, and ending a policy of favoritism to
particular businesses. Engaging in these reforms would lower the extremely high transaction costs of
doing business legally, stimulating a wave of new investment and wealth creation within Russia, as
well as encouraging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lack of clearly defined and enforced property rights is another major problem. The communist era
criminal code has only been partially replaced, and each contract must be carefully examined to check
whether it contradicts an ever shifting mess of regulations. In addition, it is unclear what success the
communists will have in the next election, so long term planning is very difficult because the future is
so unpredictable.
Despite an ambitions privatization program, many of the large factories remain state owned, partly
because of the fact that their outdated and inefficient production would immediately and properly put
them out of business under a free market. However, because the government has so much influence
over the banks, it keeps funding these inefficient enterprises to earn the support of the many workers
they hire. Many of the factories that were privatized, simply signed ownership to their communist
bosses, and because of their pull with the government, stay alive by government aid.
Despite all the issues mentioned above, the biggest challenge to Russian economic growth is probably
its monetary policy. The Russian central bank is a direct holdover from Soviet times and needs to
change its policy drastically to adapt to a free market economy. In a capitalist economy, private banks
serve to store money and provide investment to business. Because banks lose their investment when a
debtor defaults, they are careful to insure that entrepreneurs

Zoos are not a good place for animals.
All animals deserve the opportunity to run free in their natural habitat. Lions should be able to sprint

At that instant of stopping, the object has 100 percent potential energy and no kinetic energy. The

The Biomass energy is an organic matter that is used by photosynthesis. This is used to generate
energy and the most common energy is coming from the wood of the trees, corn, municipal solid
waste, and sugarcane. The biomass is used to create ethanol, biodiesel, bio oil and biogas. This in
turns create electricity with steam turbines and gasifies to produce heat. The advantage of using the
biomass over the fossil fuel is that biomass is a renewable carbon source, zero net carbon dioxide
emissions, lower methane, sulfate, and hydrocarbon emissions, and the most important is no
dependence on foreign oil. Another is the geothermal energy, in which it uses the heat from the earth
to warm things up. The common source is cost effective, reliable, and environmentally friendly. The
main sources of uses are to heat homes, greenhouse, industrial process heating mineral recovery,
fisheries and also mitigate global warnings. Geothermal energy is more valuable than the fossil fuels
because it is an inexhaustible energy source, lot less emissions in the atmosphere, more efficient than
solar energy, work under any kinds of weather conditions. The fossil fuels are irreplaceable, create
massive environmental pollution and are also causes the major factor of the global warming and the

INTRODUCTION In this lab, the class discovered the effects of different substrates and stimuli on red
flour beetles. Red flour beetles eat flour and other grains and the female beetle deposits her eggs on
flour, cereal, dry pet food, or other similar products. The larvae hatch and then begin to eat the
material around them. In the article Patch exploitation by Tribolium castaneum: Movement patterns,
distribution, and oviposition , it says that most of the activity from red flour beetles is spent in food
sources (Campbell and Hagstrum). There are many factors that affect the red flour beetles ability to
survive or reproduce, like temperature, food source, stress, and genetics (Biology 159). In Humidity

Analysis Of The Poem Darkness At Noon
Since the beginning of human history, many humans have aspired to create the perfect society, a
utopian society. Sir Thomas More coined the word utopia while he was describing the theoretical
characteristics of Atlantis. However, many dystopias have emerged from utopias. Oppression is
another predicament which exists in the world. Humans have oppressed each other for centuries and it
continues to happen to this day. Xenophobia is another problem which exists in the world.
Xenophobia is the hate towards people from other countries, or foreigners. Many works have been
influenced by oppression, xenophobia and dystopias around the world. In District 9 and Darkness at
Noon, oppression, dystopia, and xenophobia are key themes which appear across these works to show
the imperfections of human governing.
Oppression is a complication the human race is not proud of. Nicholas Salmanovitch Rubashov is the
main character in Darkness at Noon. He is an old Bolshevik or communist, who works for the
Communist Party. In the book, the Communist Party oppresses its members for not complying with its
orders. In the book, Rubashov is on a foreign assignment in Belgium. There, he meets a German

that time, Rubashov s country (the country is not named, though thought to be the USSR) imposed an

Franco Zefferelli s Romeo and Juliet and Baz Luhrmann s...
The astounding perils of young love has been eloquently captured in the story of Romeo and Juliet.
Franco Zefferelli and Baz Luhrmann are the creators of the two most renowned film adaptations of
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. Zefferelli, the more traditional director, created his Oscar
winning version in 1968. Baz Luhrmann put an abstract, modern twist on Shakespeare s classic and
created the 1996 version that raised millions of dollars in box office sales. Being that these two films
are so different, I have chosen to compare them to one another, using the famed balcony scene as my
focus.
In the Franco Zefferelli adaptation, proceeding the extravagant Capulet party, Romeo walks down a
dark stone path alone with his very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She vocalizes her love and adoration for Romeo, not knowing that every word she speaks falls upon
his ears. Unable to contain his elation about what he has just heard, Romeo leaps from the darkness
below the balcony, abruptly startling Juliet. She retreats towards the doorway of her room, feeling
violated and unsure about Romeo s presence. She appears angry because of their families hatred
towards eachother. The interaction between them is forbidden, so she turns towards the her room,
ready to leave, until she is halted by Romeo s confession. If given the opportunity, he would choose to
deny the Montague name so that he may share his life with her. Surprised, Juliet returns to where
Romeo awaits her.
During this scene, the soft light continually falls upon Juliet s angelic face, yet Romeo predominantly
remains in the darkness, shadowed. This may reference the goodness of the Capulets and the supposed
evilness of the Montagues from Juliet s standpoint. The camera is also pointed up during this scene
when directed towards Juliet, yet pointed down when directed towards Romeo. Zefferelli may have
used these camera angles to show that Juliet is considered someone Romeo admires although he is
considered a lesser man by the Capulet family.
As the scene continues, Juliet explains to Romeo the consequences of them being caught together, and
as she sadly and amorously gazes at him, he hides behind a tree branch to protect himself. Juliet
moves to a dark

Macbeth Ambition Research Paper
The Power of Ambition
Ambition is the force that pushes society to make aspirations and dreams a reality.
Although this is normally an admirable quality to possess, one s ambition can easily take over, and
cause damage to not only themselves, but others as well. In William Shakespeare s tragedy Macbeth,
ambition is the motivating factor for characters actions. Resembling a cancer, taking over and
destroying everything in it s path. This is most evident in the character Macbeth whose lust for power
is responsible for his own tragic demise. Macbeth first experiences vaulting ambition after being told
enticing prophecies by supernatural beings, then through persuasion from Lady Macbeth to take over
the throne, and finally, upon becoming King, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth suggests that once a man commits a murderous act for his own gain, something of which he
has done, and continues to do, it is impossible for that person to stop, as turning back would make no
sense, and be tedious . At this point, Macbeth is willing to do whatever it takes to keep himself at the
highest position of power. Committing evil deeds has almost become second nature. According to
Macbeth, looking out for his own best interest is his main focus. Macbeth s ambition to preserve the
title as King of Scotland has taken over any rational thoughts. If needed Macbeth is willing to unleash
a fury like no other to keep his crown

Ethical Problems Faced by Actuaries in Business Some...
Cover Sheet
Executive Summary
Our group, The Super Six focussed our research on the problem of ethics and actuarial science. As
Sholom Feldblum states The actuary has a dual role: an objective professional providing guidance on
insurance issues and a business manager promoting the goals of an insurance company (Sholom
Feldblum, pg.1). The purpose of our research was to determine the most common ethical problems an
actuary faces, and the most appropriate methods to solve these problems. Solutions were necessary so
that our stakeholders, current and prospective actuaries, will have more guidance when faced with
these dilemmas. In the valuation sector, we found that the two main conflicts faced by the actuary
were to use discounted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this report, we will explore these subtopics in great detail, and offer several solutions to these
three most common ethical situations an actuary encounters, as well as recommendations on how to
avoid these ethical problems from ever arising.
Methods
Our primary means of research was the internet. We found most of our sources by exploring the many
professional actuarial groups, and looking through their collections of articles and periodicals. We
found that our best sources were from professional organizations such as the Society of Actuaries, and
the Casualty Actuarial Society, both publish periodicals with reliable articles from accredited
actuaries. This method of searching through articles put out by professional organizations was most
effective for us because all of the articles were written by fully qualified actuaries who have first hand
experience working through the ethical conflicts that we describe in our report. All our articles are first
reviewed by the professional organization that publishes them, to ensure that they contain accurate,
and relevant information, which allowed us to keep all our conclusions professional and our
arguments strong. We also used several court documents containing actuarial testimonies about policy
rates, and proper returns on investments. These documents were very useful, as all the information
was very accurate given the legal process required and the extensive background checks and research
that went into

an essay that supported capital punishment (pro capital punishment). Participants were asked to write
an essay according to their choice condition half of them had no choice condition and the other half
had choice condition. The results of this research were that correspondence bias does emerge in both
Malaysian and Australian participants. In conclusion our study looked at correspondence bias in two

Causes Of The Arab Malaise
4. Samir Kassir describes Arabs perpetual sense of malaise, or despair, and argues that it is possible
for the Arab states to become secular democracies and adopt the principles of equality and justice.
This is characterized by, chronic rates of illiteracy, inordinate disparities between rich and poor,
overpopulation of cities and desertification of land . Some of the causes of the Arab Malaise is the
gaze of the western other, feelings of being left behind, sense of powerlessness and geography.
The gaze of the western other, is a condescending gaze that reaffirms the inferiority of Muslim
societies, preventing everything even escape and inability to overcome insurmountable condition,
(Kassir). Further, Arab Malaise is worsened by the fact that Arab societies used to be comparable to
East Asian, Latin American and Sub Saharan African states. However, to Arabs, that is no longer the
case with all states except for the Arab societies moving toward democratic and technologically
advanced societies. The third cause of Arab Malaise is the sense of powerless to act and affirm
existence in face of other s domination that Arabs feel. This sense of powerlessness was reinforced by
Iraq US intervention where Arab community was unable to fight against American intervention. Also,
when Israel was established in Palestinian territory, the Palestinians could not fight back because of
the strong American unfailing support of Israel, making Israel capable of literally do anything it wants,
(Kassir, 8). Geography was also an important factor in creating malaise. The Arab world is situated
between two continents and has its own sense of tradition, and identity, however, Arabs are constantly
reminded of colonial powers and presence on their territory today through the presence of Israel. The
defeat against Israel in 1948 (Nakba) was a great humiliation and blow to the Arabs because it
signified that colonial rule was to be perpetually present in the Arab World for centuries to come.
Finally, the existence of oil in the region is a source of instability and malaise. The oil attracts western
powers and increasing West involvements leading the new hegemony of the United States in the
Middle East (Kassir, 76).

Historical Context Analysis
Studying the context in which a text was written provides valuable insight to the outside factors that
may have had an influence on the text and its original meaning. This includes the type of government,
societal norms, and the type of education available. These factors influence the gender norms and their
specific roles in society during that time. The Household Codes were written during in ancient times
under a Greco Roman government. As a result of this type of government, specific laws and standards
were set in place by the government and reinforced by society which had an influence over what
women were able to do. Prominent ways of thought in those societies also had an impact on the New
Testament writings since they influenced the educational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the historical context is recognized, the text will be interpreted in a way that the author had
intended and not taken out of context. This is essential for modern interpreters of the Bible because the
social location of the individuals in the present society is different from the individuals in antiquity.
When interpreting the Bible, there are multiple methods that can be used and different presuppositions
that the reader can bring to their understanding of the material. According to Hauer and Young, there
are three complementary paths a modern reader can take in serious study of the Bible (Hauer, 1). One
of these paths includes analyzing the historical world of the Bible. The historical world refers to the
events and situations that form contexts for understanding the Bible as it was being written and
interpreted (Hauer, 1). These refer to things such as wars or the type of government that is in control
because that affects the audience of the writing and what issues within the community are being
addressed by the writer. The Bible has a large influence over modern society because it was composed
in, and became part of history (Hauer, 1). With such a long history, the Bible has been established as

  • 2. Why I Get An A In Geography There are many reasons why I should get an A in Geography. First, I am new to High School and not used to the changes that come along with it. Another reason is that I have been very open minded and I have tried my best to learn and understand the material being taught. Lastly, I have been very busy balancing everything, and I have still made education my highest priority. The first reason why I should get an A in this class is because this is my first year of high school and I am new to everything the classes, the people, and the business. And yes, I realize that there are 900 other freshmen who are new to it also, but it has been hard for me, I m not good at adjusting to change. I have also tried very hard to do the assignments. I am a major procrastinator/perfectionist and I am not very good at doing my work. This comes from being an Honors student; I don t like rough drafts . When writing a paper, I want to sit down and write a perfect essay on my first try. When this doesn t work, I get frustrated and I put off the assignment until the last minute. • 3. Analysis Of Oath Of The Horatii Oath of the Horatii is life size oil on canvas painting that is about thirteen feet wide by ten feet tall. The painting was done by Jacques Louis David, who was the leading Neoclassical painter in France during the eighteenth century. David rejected the Rococo style that was popular of that time, which was characterized by fantasy and playfulness. David was interested in painting images with antiquity. The Oath of the Horatii has elements of classical Greek and Roman art and architecture. Oath of the Horatii was a political painting that David had comprised to stimulate the publics attention (Fred S. Kleiner 680). Oath of the Horatii captures a heroic and patriotic moment. Something big is happening in this composition. There are three Horatii brothers taking an oath, which is being administered by their father. The oath they are taking is to live or die for their country, which happens to be Rome. While taking this oath, the Horatii brothers are facing their father. They stand in unison with one another. They each have one leg and arm extending out. The father holds three swords up and out towards the Horatii brothers in the same pose. The Horatii brothers extended arms are saluting towards the swords. The postures of all four men appear upright and strong. There is no emotion of fear on their faces. The brothers appear athletic and fit. This can be seen in the muscular details of their legs and arms. They appear bold and ready to sacrifice their lives. The father does not ... • 4. Two Major Characteristics Of Organic Growth 1. Describe two major ways in which a company can grow. Give examples to illustrate the two ways of growing. Every entrepreneur drives towards growth. Usually the desire to become bigger, access a larger client base, increase earnings and wealth is a major goal of all business owners. Usually growth can be organic or inorganic. Organic growth is the one orchestrated and fueled primarily by the activities and expansion within the organization. It involves increasing marketing activities and also sales, hiring additional staff members, opening up the organization in new territories and may even involve diversification into new businesses and creation of new product lines. In certain instances some companies segment the market and create products targeted at the various segments after a careful understanding of the characteristics of the various segment. A classic example of organic growth is seen in the brewery/bottling industry. It is not unusual to see companies in this sector offer multiple products targeted at a different portion of the population. Beer from sorghum extracts and the ones from barley extracts are identified and packaged separately from pure 100% ethanol based drinks. Each is produced for a different crowds. Most breweries also have water purification units as part of the production process so lately, many of them have also ventured into the commercial production of bottled water. It s a similar strategy with most bottling outfits. The production of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To achieve this Schultz had hired an architect as his businesses expanded to ensure that the design was achieved in all his stores. In olden days there use to be two to three people to turn ON and OFF an instrument or appliance but in present generation we are operating the instruments with remote and wireless source, so this increasing technology growth developed a keen interest in doing this project, which is described in this career episode done in my tenure of bachelor of technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Chronology: (January 2010 March 2010) Geographical location: India Organization Name: Holy Mary Institute of Science and Technology Project Name: Relay Driver Circuit using an IC ULN2003 Title of Position: Student Subject: Embedded Systems Background CE 1.2 This project comes under the area of embedded system and the circuit comes under the IC based on the electromagnetic switch. In most of the projects, I have seen or observed that the loads are actually controlled by using a microcontroller block and also the loads managing techniques. To carry out this project, I had used multiple sources of information and spent more hours in the college laboratory. Abstract CE 1.2.1 I know how relays are important in the circuits and the embedded systems and the relay driver IC is generally used as an electromagnetic switch. In order to control the loads in the circuits via microcontroller block, the relay that acts as the switch is used. Moreover, it depends on the signals sent by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To enhance total quality and the complete performance of an organization, it is essential to connect the products and services to consumers as well as the production procedure. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) involves the method of delivering top of the line services to consumers by meeting their needs. It requires transforming customer requirements into the appropriate technical requirements involved with all aspects of service delivery (Evans Lindsay 2016). To identify with the importance of QFD, it is vital that an organization lets consumers help with establishing and formatting quality standards. Before the case study, the consumers involved with these services ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some technical requirements mentioned in the survey include font size and color, table of contents, updates, information that is easy to read and understand, and a section with questions and answers. In contrast, the customer requirements include what the QFD process is, and this is often expressed or measured by quality. For the information acquired in this section to be useful there needs to be a way to convince them so they will favor measuring by quantity. Information obtained here can be used as the basis for improving service design and modifying the necessary products (Dror Sukenik 2011) One important step required by the QFD process act involves the groundwork needed to build strong relationships with the customers as well as ones within the organization. The second one involves finding a balance between customer needs and what is provided by the company. When the MCO in the case study gathered enough information it was determined that a strong connection existed between technical and customer requirements. As a result, this points out why the sales and marketing department needs to find ways that will successfully attract the attention of potential clients as well as incentives to keep them loyal. Before beginning the promotional market method, a sales department should ensure that the promotional material is designed in a way that is easy to see as well as easy to read so that necessary information can be understood (Keller, ... It now takes account not simply of how states interact with other states, but also of how particular regimes treat their own people. His foreign policies, thus, aim either to alter the behavior of rogue states, or, failing that, to eliminate those regimes that refuse to play by the rules. • 27. Essay On Optical Denoising In Ophthalmology, Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non invasive imaging modality. It provides a cross sectional view (tomography) of the retina tissue structures and is used widely to identify and monitor various eye diseases [1]. However, OCT images are inevitably affected by noise due to the interferometry nature of OCT imaging. Also, to avoid motion artifacts due to the fixation eye movements, the OCT clinical images are often captured at lower than nominal sampling rates [1], [2]. Therefore, effective denoising and interpolation algorithms are necessary for automated or even manual OCT image analysis. Interpolation and denoising are two of the most well known problems in image processing, and various methods based on various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These shortcomings can be mitigated using sparse models because they can be used with smaller datasets and have intrinsic denoising and interpolation capability [21] [24]. In recent years, several researchers have utilized modern sparse representation and closely related compressed sensing methods to devise various OCT image denoising and interpolation algorithms. Compressed sensing methods have been presented with promising results to reconstruct both Fourier [25] [27] and spatial domain SDOCT data [28] [30]. Although the former has been demonstrated promising results, it needs imaging hardware modifications. Thus, we are interested in spatial domain SDOCT reconstruction methods which are more applicable to end users of current clinical imaging systems. In this regime, denoising and interpolating regularly sub sampled spatial domain SDOCT images have been also shown as a promising approach [2], [12], [13]. Inspired by the natural image super resolution literature [21], [31] [34], Fang et al. [12], [13] have tried to denoise and interpolate SDOCT images by proposing a fast coupled dictionary learning approach. They clustered image patches space to learn a couple of LR HR dictionaries for each subspace. In short, Russia has not prospered under capitalism because it has not yet discovered it. In order to do so, the Russian government must engage in extensive reform in several key areas: improving the rule of law, creating stable monetary policy, and ending a policy of favoritism to particular businesses. The communist era criminal code has only been partially replaced, and each contract must be carefully examined to check whether it contradicts an ever shifting mess of regulations. In addition, it is unclear what success the communists will have in the next election, so long term planning is very difficult because the future is so unpredictable. Despite an ambitions privatization program, many of the large factories remain state owned, partly because of the fact that their outdated and inefficient production would immediately and properly put them out of business under a free market. However, because the government has so much influence over the banks, it keeps funding these inefficient enterprises to earn the support of the many workers they hire. Many of the factories that were privatized, simply signed ownership to their communist bosses, and because of their pull with the government, stay alive by government aid. Despite all the issues mentioned above, the biggest challenge to Russian economic growth is probably its monetary policy. The Russian central bank is a direct holdover from Soviet times and needs to change its policy drastically to adapt to a free market economy. Samir Kassir describes Arabs perpetual sense of malaise, or despair, and argues that it is possible for the Arab states to become secular democracies and adopt the principles of equality and justice. This is characterized by, chronic rates of illiteracy, inordinate disparities between rich and poor, overpopulation of cities and desertification of land . Some of the causes of the Arab Malaise is the gaze of the western other, feelings of being left behind, sense of powerlessness and geography. The gaze of the western other, is a condescending gaze that reaffirms the inferiority of Muslim societies, preventing everything even escape and inability to overcome insurmountable condition, (Kassir). Further, Arab Malaise is worsened by the fact that Arab societies used to be comparable to East Asian, Latin American and Sub Saharan African states. However, to Arabs, that is no longer the case with all states except for the Arab societies moving toward democratic and technologically advanced societies. The third cause of Arab Malaise is the sense of powerless to act and affirm existence in face of other s domination that Arabs feel. This sense of powerlessness was reinforced by Iraq US intervention where Arab community was unable to fight against American intervention. Also, when Israel was established in Palestinian territory, the Palestinians could not fight back because of the strong American unfailing support of Israel, making Israel capable of literally do anything it wants, (Kassir, 8). Geography was also an important factor in creating malaise. The Arab world is situated between two continents and has its own sense of tradition, and identity, however, Arabs are constantly reminded of colonial powers and presence on their territory today through the presence of Israel. The defeat against Israel in 1948 (Nakba) was a great humiliation and blow to the Arabs because it signified that colonial rule was to be perpetually present in the Arab World for centuries to come. Finally, the existence of oil in the region is a source of instability and malaise. The oil attracts western powers and increasing West involvements leading the new hegemony of the United States in the Middle East (Kassir, 76). Arab ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
