Advantages And Disadvantages Of Singlehood
Singlehood, which is defined as the state of being single and especially unmarried, is a rapidly
increasing relationship state in America. In fact, Statistics show that the 102 million single people in
the country make up about 44 percent of the entire population and those numbers are steadily rising,
(Garder, 2013). Though depending on what type of environment a person grew up in, they may think
being single is a waste or a sad situation, but they re just unaware of the benefits of that type of life.
Based on both research and my personal experiences I can conclude that singlehood, while it may
have its drawbacks, can defiantly benefit people in many ways. While most teenage girls would beg to
differ with the particular insight of the advantages of being single outweighing the disadvantages, they
cannot argue with the facts. There are a number of studies that have found that being single can
actually contribute to success in many parts of one s life. For one, people who are single tend to stay
in touch with their families and socialize with the neighbors more than married people do and it s said
that they also get the most out of life. A great deal of single people stated that they feel as if their life
has been a continuous process of learning, changing, and growth and that they think it is important to
have new experiences that challenge how you think about yourself and the world. When comparing
that to the constant complaining and regret voiced by married individuals, one can t really help but
admit which situation is preferable. Singlehood also gives an individual more time to accomplish
personal tasks, such as shopping, volunteering or merely relaxing after a long day at work. Single
people aren t, for lack of a better word, chained down, to anyone, so if they need to spend more time
focus on their career or personal enjoyment, they can. Due to this, single people usually do become
more successful and productive in their jobs because they don t have to stress or compromise the
quality of their work as those who have a partner or family do. These individuals are also able to
manage their money more carefully and when they only have their own expenses to worry about, it s
easier to get ahead of bills

Sidney Grigg
In this day and age, a plentitude of young people crave the fast track to fame and fortune, and this
means that they often seek jobs within the entertainemnt community. Without any difficulty, they
expect to become an overnight success because they are, by their own admission, so cool. Thankfully,
there are young actors like Sidney Grigg, who are willing to invest the time and resources required to
ensure longevity and eventual success. In Sidney s case, she has had some tremendous experiences
already, and recently she related some of those stories to me as she explained how she began in this
business and even how she keeps herself motivated and grounded in a career that requires intense
fortitude.

Plus, some of my best friends are actors too, and so we all support each other! It s funny though we
usually never talk about acting when we hang out. Lots of people at school that I hang out with still
don t even know I act. The kids I m around, including myself, do other things like hockey and dance
and school sports, and one is not more important than the other. We are all really happy for each other
when we do well at things and are there for each other when we have tough times.
What is your advice to other young people who wish to become actors?
My advice would be to take acting classes and do short films to see if you like it! It s different than
most people think. It s hard work and long hours, and you do have to miss out on things if you have
auditions or are filmin,g so you have to love it! My mom made me do about six short films before she
would let me get an agent!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love hanging out with my friends, going to my grandparents cottage and travelling! I also take dance
classes jazz and hip hop. Living in Vancouver is awesome because there is so much to do! I am never

Popcorn and Faith : The ticket towards success!
Life is never way too easy to Lily Yu to start with. She came from a Chinese family and born in

were all provided with their needs. They also have a place of their own to call home that shelters them
which Psychologist Abraham Maslow theorized the basic human needs by suggesting that individuals

It s not always that she is written about in a flattering light, and one thing is certain in the history of
Philippine cinema, Mother Lily is a legend in her own right! Her reputation precedes her and no
matter what, many people would think they owe their lives to her. Today, she is among the very few
who has continued to produce movies even if sometimes her films fail to break even at the box office,
because according to her, filmmaking is her passion and mission in life. The things that she achieved
without the help of anybody aside from her husband gave rise to the development of her self esteem.
Now she is ready to reach self actualization after surpassing all the stages of the hierarchy of needs
presented by Abraham Maslow.
Acceptance of self, others, is the nature of Mother Lily Monteverde that helped her reached self
actualization. She is not ashamed or guilty about her human nature, with the short comings of her life,
imperfections, frailties, and weaknesses. As of today is a successful producer, mother of Roselle and

devotion important. Husbands and wives, they have differences but the most important is the family,
the children, Monteverde said. She succeeded as a movie producer because she is very focused in
anything she does.
As a self actualized person she learned to

Modernity in The Metamorphosis and The Judgement by Franz...
French poet Charles Baudelaire famously coined the term modernity as the transient, the fleeting, the
contingent; it is one half of art, the other being the eternal and the immovable . This particularly
characterises the transitory nature of contemporaneity, highlighting the importance art has in capturing
the experience of this urban cosmopolitan. Through The Metamorphosis and The Judgement, Franz
Kafka uses literature in order to portray the sickness of modernity in which tradition has crumbled
under the onslaught . Kafka draws upon the negative aspects of this industrial civilisation, particularly
highlighting
According to Elizabeth Boa, one of the effects of the modernizing process was that of generational
tensions as sons sought to over throw paternal authority and find their own way within the modern
world. A reoccurring motif within both texts is that of the role reversal of filial relationships in which
the son is portrayed as the provider and the father as the dependant. This experiment with traditional
family structure can be seen within The Metamorphosis as Mr. Samsa is described as almost
commensurate with his wife and daughter due to being unable to support them and wholly relies on
Gregor for the household income. He is illustrated as an old man...who could not take on very much ,
as having an arduous yet unsuccessful life and was now clumsy in his movements due to the great deal
of weight he had gained. Each of these quotes have negative

Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper
Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper It was the year of 1857 and a robust wind blew through the
South as the air was filled with both victory and horrific disappointment. An ordinary man named
Dred Scott began his journey for his rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Scott s struggle
for freedom would come to make him one of the most famous plaintiffs in American history and a
worldwide symbol for emancipation. Scott happened to be of African descent which was an extremely
difficult obstacle to live with in early America. The Dred Scott decision made by the supreme court in
March of 1857 negatively impacted the United States by empowering the South, contributing to the
secession, and expediting the Civil War. Dred Scott was forced to travel around with his owner, a
United States army surgeon, Dr. John Emerson. Dr. Emerson was assigned to Fort Armstrong located
in Illinois. As of 1818, when Illinois became a state, its state constitution declared it a free state
(Gunderson 16). Although illegal, Scott was still forced to work as a slave for his master. Dr. Emerson
soon requested a transfer from Fort Armstrong which was quickly answered; his new post was at Fort
Snelling. Fort Snelling was located in a newly created Wisconsin Territory near present day St. Paul,
Minnesota where slavery had been banned since 1820 (Gunderson 16). As Dr. Emerson continued to
be dissatisfied with many of the forts he traveled without his slaves for a while and met his wife

Developments in Ancient China
In the early years of China, the Chinese began a period of establishment in the world with ideas and
teachings of new religions, changing powers, and building empires. In a nutshell the Chinese were
progressing toward new technology, writings, and belief systems. The Chinese saw many dynasties
come and go as well as many ups and downs experienced with societies over the course of history. As
all nation s go through change, the Chinese experienced changes from other lands far away and
produced many concepts in which helped other realms to see change for themselves. The Chinese used
many inventive innovations to prosper as an economic power and stabilize intellectually. Change

At the same time, these documents show that the Zhou recognized the Shang as occupying the center
of the world, were eager to succeed to that role themselves, and saw history as a legitimate power (59,
McKay). The Zhou also believed instead of ruling their regions absolutely they established a
decentralized feudal system. This backfired on them causing rebellion as the lord who controlled these
lands began to disobey their king and this passed from generation to generation. Cities began
emerging throughout the land with heavily built walls for protection as economic change was on the
rise. Trade was persuaded by the invention of coins which prospered economic growth. Their armies
grew with developments in the crossbow, cavalry, and the infantry. Wars could be easily fought with
combination of these new discoveries, and lands could be taken swiftly. As the Zhou dynasty began to
unravel and looking for a new rule, the Qin Unification (221 206 B.C.E.), which adopted Legalist

Diversity Essay
Abraham Lincoln once said, The strongest bond of human sympathy outside the family relation should
be one uniting working people of all nations and tongues and kindreds. For an organization to work
well it has to have a diversity of people, good communication with all the employees, and to be
organized in a way that is effective and efficient to function properly.
I currently work at the Turlock Junior High School (TJHS). It is an organization that is composed of
the administrative staff, teachers, classified staff and students. To be able to function, each branch has
diverse group of people working together to make TJHS a better place for children to learn. TJHS has
employees with different cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The staff helps the students get familiar with the school s process, schedule and what is expected from
each student.
Since each branch has different job tasks, communication is very essential among all the branches. For
example, if the administration staff does not inform the teachers about a mandatory meeting, the
teachers would not know about it and will not attend the meeting. Therefore, the teachers will be
reprimanded for not attending without being at fault. And as well if the teacher does not inform the
administrator staff about a field trip, the administrator staff will panic when the students are not
present in the school.
The school must organize in a way that it can function properly. According to Schermerhorn, J. Hunt,
J. and Osborn, R. an organization must consider short term and long term performance and it also
requires a commitment to continuous and lifelong learning from one s work and everyday experiences.
And must also a motto of belief in which the school is based upon. At TJHS the motto is take pride in
what you do. This motto is to be used by all the employees and the students.
Turlock Junior High School takes pride in having a diversity of staff and students, providing
communication among all, and being organized to be able function accurately. Carl Rogers said If we
value independence, if we are disturbed by the growing conformity of knowledge, of values, of
attitudes, which our present system induces, then we may wish to set

How To Write An Essay About The Alchemist
The bestseller novel The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is known by many people for its valuable lessons
and ideas. However, I am not one of these people as I am not fond of this book.
Opinion: The Alchemist uses elements of magical fantasy that aren t familiar to me, thrilling and
action packed events are not present, and I do not agree with some of the lessons that the book
portrays.
Components of magical fantasy are used in the novel that I don t understand. Omens, Universal
Languages, and mysterious forces aren t principles that I consider in my daily life and therefore they
aren t familiar to me. For example, Santiago uses Omens as signs that guide him throughout life.
Omens are not a concept that I have learned about until reading this novel. These signals do not make
much sense to me, seeming much too coincidental to be real. Santiago also connects things in his life
through Universal Languages, such as the desert and the caravan. However, a language that is
universal or a language between inanimate things doesn t exist in real life, making it hard for a reader
to imagine such a thing. Finally, in the novel, there are mysterious forces that teach people of their
personal legends, such as the King was to Santiago. It does make sense for people to realize their
dreams and goals through experiences or people. This isn t the case always in the novel, instead,
specific forces inform people of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the interaction is enabled by information technology . When information technology has become more
accessible, much cheaper and more powerful, E business has become a new trend. Because of low

Very often, people commit a crime because they think that the punishment is not harsh enough.
Therefore, to show the determination to protect consumer privacy, the government should impose
harsher punishment that is deterrent enough. Besides, it is essential to allocate more resource to
establish some departments which can help protect people s privacy in e business. In addition to
punishment ad establish departments, the government should educate young people about importance
of respecting people s privacy. The education should be done everywhere, for example, in school, in
public areas, and on television, so that it can uproot young people s wrong values.
Companies also ought to take effective measures to protect consumer privacy. One practical proposal
would be that organizations should establish internal controls and physical safeguard for information
security. On the one hand, company builds up a security system to control their internal enterprise.
Data control and management is a critical issue for corporations. The service provider should be able
to ensure customers information security, especially those important data such as credit card number,
ID number, and email that avoid information falling into the wrong hands. On the other hand, the e
business providers should keep their marketing ethics and social responsibility during the business
operation.
Apart from companies, consumers also

A complex between crystal violet and iodine (CV I) is formed within the cell. The structure that
determines the Gram reaction is the cell wall structure and not that shape. Bacillus cereus and
Staphylococcus aureus are stained purple in the Gram staining as they have a high amount of
peptidoglycan which forms the outer layer of the cell. This thick peptidoglycan layer is able to trap the
purple CV I complex even after alcohol treatment. Escherichia coli is stained pink in the Gram
staining and it is a Gram negative bacteria. Gram negative bacterias usually have a thin peptidoglycan
layer compared to Gram positive bacterias. The peptidoglycan layer is located between the plasma
membrane and an outer membrane containing lipopolysaccharide and this outer layer is dissolved
during the alcohol treatment which results in a loss of the CV I complex, hence the pink safranin
counterstain is trapped by the peptidoglycan layer (ASM, 2004). Gram staining allows us to observe
the characteristics and cell size, shape and arrangement. For Bacillus cereus, endospores were also
viewed during microscopic observation. During Gram staining, the most crucial step in determining
the outcome is the decolourisation by alcohol step. If alcohol is applied too long, the alcohol may
wash all the CV I complex that is trapped in peptidoglycan layer. Therefore, alcohol is only applied
for 30 seconds

Questions On The Periodic Table
INTU Statement
I need to understand the various arrangements of elements and its similarities to the periodic table
given in the Nelson Chemistry 11 textbook.
Periodic Table
The periodic table is the chemicals arranged in order of increasing atomic number and grouped with
similar chemical properties. There are 7 periods and 18 groups in the periodic table. The periodic table
used in the textbook has a total of 118 elements.
About Dmitri Mendeleev Dmitri Mendeleev also known as the Russian scientist who was born in
Tobolsk, Siberia. Mendeleev was one of 17 children in his house hold. He is known for the periodic
table we use today which was created in 1869. Although at the time he only had 65 elements, his
periodic table was the one that stood out the most with, elements organized in increasing atomic
weight and grouping them by similarity of properties. Throughout the years more and more elements
were being discovered and in total there are 118 elements. What Dmitri did to discover the periodic
table was that he wrote all of the 65 elements on separate cards and wrote the atomic weight along
with the properties. He re arranged the cards so that he could find a pattern which he did and wrote it
on a piece of paper. He later on published the periodic table in the Principles of Chemistry in 1869.
Dmitri also received many awards one example was the Chair of General Chemistry at the university
of Saint Petersburg.

Forensic Pathologists And Autopsies
The Importance of Forensic Pathologists and Autopsies Death becomes a part of every single person s
life at some point in time, whether it is in the form of a close relative, parent, spouse, or even one s

certain circumstances of demise may not be completely understood, and in these cases, autopsies can

reassurance of the diagnoses, treatments and the appropriateness of the medical care received. Society
experiences the benefits of autopsies through the evaluation of diagnostic tests, drugs, and diagnostic

Critical Thinking--Responsibity of Accident Essay
Table saw accidents are more common than the average person would think. According to Table Saw
Accident Stories and Statistics, 95% of the accidents are hand, arm, wrist and finger injuries and 5%
are eye, face, trunk, and leg with persons between the ages of 15 64. Three important issues stand out
when it come to the operation of table saws in the work place and in the home; safety, training and
equipment conditions. Mr. John Schmidt was injured on June 7; he seriously injured his hand while

the safety report records state the opposite of what s in the written maintenance reports. If there was an
issue with equipment the foreman is supposed to report it to the shop manager. Being that the safety
guard was poorly designed is my main reason to why the company is at fault. The company put their
employees at risk when they had knowledge of a safety issue.
Training, secondly, is very important in the operation of table saws. While the safety guards are in
place to protect the operator from hazards, it is still important that employers have trained their staff
properly in operating equipment. Although the safety guard is intended to protect, it only protects in
four directions: from above, from the rear and form the sides. This puts the operator hands
inadvertently unprotected from the front of the saw. Training records need to be checked and if they

equipment. Also the foreman and the shop managers need to go to manager training on how to handle
workplace safety, employee situations and how to handle incidents reported to them. Also as part of

It is largely argued that the prepaid water meters are usually not promoted in wealthy areas. The meter
system violates the right to water; the human right to water has been recognised in the United Nations
International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. Yet, prepaid water meters abuse the
core of this international agreement by denying access to clean water to those in most need. Instead,
prepaid water meters force poor families to use unsafe water sources once they lose their ability to
pay. Lastly, I strongly believe that the prepaid water meter system undermines public health; it forces
households to decrease their consumption of water and to make difficult trade offs between food,
medicines, school fees, transportation and other essential goods and services and the consumption of
water. As a result, families survive on less than the World Health Organization recommended
minimum water consumption for life of at least 25 litres of water per day for basic survival (100 litres
per day is needed to sustain human development). A lower consumption of water severely limits the
ability of development and creates an undignified situation for the poor. In the United Kingdom,
prepaid water meters were associated with an increase in dysentery when families self disconnected
after being unable to pay for service. In South Africa, Kwa Zulu Natal, 113,966 people were infected

Astronomy Camp Slam! I shut the car door behind me. This would be the first year on my own, away
from my home and my family. I set my feet on the rough, yet new looking gravel road and let out a

things. Trees of all shapes and forms surround me, their green leaves and giant branches enticing me
to get closer. I swallow a lump that forms in my throat, urging the already swarming butterflies in my
stomach to calm down. This year, I would meet new people and make new friends, it was thrilling. Yet
beneath it all, I found myself anxious of the upcoming week. I look around at the trees, trying to

with power and intelligence, she had a soft and kind tone to her voice. She welcomes me into the

The Theme Of Death In Hamlet
10 Bucks Everyone Dies, Bet
(The Theme of Death in Hamlet Acts 4 and 5) There a significance, some deep and abiding meaning
to death one that transcends our puny ability to understand? this quote is from chabad.org, by Maurice
Lamm. Death is very hard to understand, is it a void which we never return? Death may be just the
disintegration of our bodies that we all know as being kind of gross. The play Hamlet has several
deaths in it, the play is known as the play of death. Hamlet being the little baby he is just goes around
trying to figure out how to get the balls to kill the old man. In the play Hamlet throughout acts 4 and 5
the theme of death is very present, and one of the more major themes. The play Hamlet in act 4 shows
the theme of death very well. The theme of death is a biggy in the world of themes throughout the play
Hamlet. The play basically has everyone die in the end. Shakespeare shows his genius very well by
slipping little clues about the death theme throughout the play. He sprinkles the death ingredients like
he is a chef making a masterful entree. Hamlet infers on page 210 line 5, Compounded it with dust,
whereto tis the dead. Here Hamlet is responding to Rosencrantz where Rosencrantz is asking Hamlet
where he put the dead body of Polonius. The way that the two characters just throw death around like
it is some kind of play toy is astonishing. Both Rosencrantz and Hamlet have lost their sensitivity to
the subject of death. Lawrence R Samuel Ph.D. states from Psychology today, The end of life is now
frequently a prolonged period carrying a heavy emotional, ethical, physical, and financial price,
something that has helped make death this country s greatest taboo . This quote shows that death is
now a huge taboo to talk about, but back then it really wasn t after Hamlet has killed polonius. Clearly,
The theme of death is present during this time in the play Hamlet. The theme of death in Hamlet acts 4
and 5 are really shown by dulling the mind more sensitive subjects. Hamlet the play was the ultimate
R rated movie from the olden times.Hamlet suggests on page 214 line 30, A man may eat a fish with
the worm that hath eat of a king, and eat the fish that hath fed of that worm. Hamlet is

essential elements of the church are an air conditioned sanctuary, ten different ministry opportunities,
and a full band to lead worship. While none of these things are necessarily bad, they do not comprise
the biblical model of what the church was created to be. The church can be divided into two
components: the Universal Church and the local church. Once a person becomes a believer, they are
part of the Universal Church, the body of believers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus commands His listeners to repent for the Kingdom of God is near. In
Acts 3:19, Peter says, Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of
refreshing may come from the Lord. One cannot enter into a relationship with God without
repentance, which is why it is the first essential element of the church. Repentance and faith in Christ
turns a person away from his or her sin and allows that person to enter into the grace of God.
Repentance is a central command of Christ to the church, and so it must be a central command in our
churches today.
The second characteristic Peter considers to be essential is baptism. Jesus himself was baptized; so
believers of the church today must also be baptized. In Matthew 28:18 20, Jesus gives His final
command as, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus considered baptism worthy and necessary enough to be in His final
command, it is something we should put into practice today. The command to be baptized is found
multiple times throughout the book of Acts and also in the rest of New Testament, thus, making it an
essential element of the church today. In Acts 22:16, Paul is told, And now what are you waiting for?
Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name. Baptism is the first step of
obedience as a

Reflective Importance Of Writing
Following some time spent on reflection, I realize I learned to appreciate more than I expected from
this class. I enrolled in this class with the idea that I would most enjoy reading stories, watching
movies and analyzing each of them. Before attending this class, I honestly did not give as much
consideration to the writing process as I should have. As a consequence, most of my efforts to
adequately express my more passionate ideas failed. Essentially, like Sheriff Bell from the book No
Country for Old Men, I felt overwhelmed and I had to accept that I was not prepared to obtain the
result I had envisioned. Understandably, I admire writers who can effectively present their ideas and
produce the outcome they chose. If I eventually master each of the steps in the writing process, not
only will my writing improve but also my enjoyment of writing will increase because I will have the
skills to satisfactorily share my perspective. Accordingly, I came to understand I need to increase my
proficiency within several areas of the writing process if I want others to fully comprehend and
appreciate my efforts to communicate my ideas. Though I cannot claim that my other cross circular
outcomes, such as critical thinking skills, are perfect, what I came to appreciate from this class is the
importance of the writing process.
Although, there are many areas that I need to develop to become a better writer, editing is the one I
ended up concentrating on the most. Mostly, I focused on

Tiverton Road and Wolverton Street Corridor Improvement
Faculty of Technology and Built Environment
Introduction
We were asked by our Highway engineering lecturer to write a report about a current or previous
project listed on the Auckland transport site. After a research on the site, I have chosen to write about
Tiverton road Wolverton street corridor improvement.
Tiverton road and Wolverton Street, play a major role in linking the suburbs of New Lynn and New
Windsor. The 2.2km stretch of road carries an average of 31400 vehicles per day. And a two lane
addition was required to allow for the ease of travel and safer environment for both motorist and
pedestrian users. The project has been given less than 2 years to be completed starting in 2014.
Background
Back in 1920 s, the work had started in developing an arterial road that helped link west Auckland
with its central suburbs. The 2.2km stretch of road added great commercial and residential benefits in
linking and intersecting with major roads in the area.
On September 2012, the road works started after a site blessing held by local iwi Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei
and Ngaitai ki tamaki in conjunction with Auckland Transport and Downer NZ.
Problem statement
With the increased traffic flow caused by the popularity of the road and the current motorway
extension to Maioro Street, the road required widening to lower traffic jams during rush hours.
Moreover, with the increase of residents in the area, the street required safer and better utilities such as
safer footpaths,

Panax Notoginseng Research Papers
Growing up as an Asian American, height has been a topic that arose amongst the conversations. In
Chinese culture, parents often like to showcase their kids and like to brag about their
accomplishments, their goals and their physical appearance. With that in mind, families including
mine took height as an obstacle that would make my family proud. Puberty affected my body around
the end of my elementary school. I specially remember when I was in Taiwan and was on my way to
my friend s house, when my mom gave me a dark, oily brown colored soup put in a water bottle. My
mom told me to drink it on the way to his house and the taste was so bad that I almost fainted that
night. The soup was composed of a Chinese herb prescribed for growth enhancement. This Chinese
herb that was prescribed was known as Panax Notoginseng, also known as Tienchi Ginseng and my
mom believed that this soup increased height. Eventually I started to believe that plants had the ability
to increase body growth such as my height. However, after looking up many resources, I found that
Panax Notoginseng had many different effects that promoted health but didn t necessarily increase
height.
After several hours of research, many of those hours, including frustration at the failure to a ... Show

showed that high doses of Xuesaitong significantly increased the level of stem cells, which would
promote the increase of the mobilization of bone marrow stem cells and peripheral blood. (Zhang et

Globalization And Its Effects On Society
Globalization can be described as the interaction and integration among the people, companies, and
governments of different nations (http://www.globalization101.org/what is globalization/). For the past
century, there have been countless debates over whether the effects of globalization are positive or
negative. The topic of globalization is seen as one of the most debatable topics in our current society
and is often discussed during political debates before elections. This paper will focus on the negative
effects of globalization and the chaotic impact it can have on countries across the globe. Globalization
is one of the main causes of the spread of infectious diseases that can often lead to fatal outcomes and
a sense of fear felt throughout an entire nation. Infectious diseases are the leading cause of death
among children and adolescents, and are one of the leading causes of death among adults (Infectious
disease: a persistent threat). Examples of these infectious diseases that became widespread due to
globalization include: the Bubonic Plague, Measles, Smallpox, Malaria, Tuberculosis, and most
recently, the Ebola virus of 2014. All of these diseases were direct results of globalization, caused
millions of deaths, and established a state of panic within the countries affected.
Globalization can contribute to the spread of disease in many different ways. The main way
globalization facilitates the spread of disease is through trade between countries. Trade is a major

services that this community center provides include dental care, daycare, WIC programs, senior
programs, etc. The service center also provides speech, language, and hearing services for children.
The speech language pathologist (SLP) and the clinical fellow provide therapy services in small
groups and individually. The SLP and clinical fellow provided individual therapy services for a
fluency disorder, an autism spectrum disorder, an intellectual disability, and an articulation disorder
within three hours. The Magnolia multi service center provides necessary speech language and hearing

There are many advantages and disadvantages in working for community clinics, like the Magnolia
Multi Service Center. Working in this setting allows the clinician to help individuals with lower
socioeconomic statuses. A disadvantage to working in this setting is that the speech language
pathologist is required to adhere to a strict schedule and rules. For example, the clinical fellow had a
record sheet indicating the specific client and the time that the client arrived and left. If the client is
late then the clinical graduate is required to only work with them using the remaining time in their
appointment. Another disadvantage I noticed was the clinical graduate struggled to maintain the child
s attention. When the client did not want to follow instructions, the client would often look towards
their parent to try to avoid completing the task. There are many other advantage and disadvantages to
working at this center and the clinical fellow readily handled the challenges and the unexpected

Barbie Harris Interview
Barbie Harris is a 50 year old female who came into our shelter this morning looking for assistance. In
our initial intake and interview this writer can see that all Barbie has with her some belongs: some
clothing, blankets, hygiene products, and her prescriptions, which all fit into a suitcase and backpack.
Barbie states that most nights she tries to stay at one of her 3 close friends house, however they have
families so she does not stay long and interrupt their lives (Summers, 2012, p. 245). Other than those
nights Barbie states she travels from shelter to shelter, at times sleeping on the cold, hard ground. In
discussing Barbie s employment history this writer learns she has been unable to work due to issues
with her mental health. Up until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This writer learns from Barbie that she has not been making appointments to refill all of her
medications. Furthermore, Barbie had not shown up for her last 2 mammograms, which is extremely
important within the first five years of remission from breast cancer (ASCO, 2001, p. 9). This writer
discussed with Barbie the importance of her health, reluctantly Barbie made an appointment with her
doctor in my office for Monday July 6. In addition, this writer discussed with Barbie the possibility of
accessing free counselling through Alberta Health Services, something she could talk about with her
doctor. Barbie admits to this writer that she is having difficulty coping lately and some counselling
may help. This writer discusses with Barbie that she has been through so many difficulty life events:
the death of her husband, both her parents, surviving cancer, and losing her home. Therefore, having a
difficult time coping is an absolutely normal response to what she has experienced. Switching topics
over to her interests: Barbie tells this writer she actually does not mind picking up bottles and cans
because she like sorting things. This writer also learns from Barbie the she has an extreme eye for
detail. However, both things have not been able to land her a job, even though she used to work as a
mail sorter while she took care of her parent before her mental health issues began. Now Barbie
claims no one will hire me . This writer encourages Barbie to learn more about her current health
status when she meets her doctor, so that she will know what tools to acquire. This writer discusses
with Barbie how the Canadian Mental Health Association has many resources available for people
facing serious mental illness and those struggling with disabilities who would like to work (CMHA,
2015, p. 1). It is a human right for men and women to have the freedom to work so they may live in

Nowadays, College students have been recognized at risk for the development of anxiety. According
to nursing (2006), anxiety is natural reactions to threatening situations. Your body has a fight or flight
reaction your heart races, you breathe faster, you sweat, and your stomach and head may ache .
Therefore, UWS College has provided students with many useful services such as counselling service,
disability service, international student service, workshops and programs.
Inam, Saqib and Alam (2003) believed that students experience anxiety and depression because of
many reasons. Firstly, this is because the high volume of techniques to be absorbed and the
requirement of academic performance. For example, the negative impacts of stress on medical
students contain the weakness of functioning in laboratory performance and clinical exercise, stress
induced disorders and reducing performance. To solve this problem, learners should seek the advice of
school counsellors. A research indicated that students who have been panic from the examination
failure can manage pressure by improving their feelings of self control. They can enhance those skills
by having appropriate learning strategies, suitable self instructions as well as relaxation time. In this

Parkinson s Dance Therapy
As children, people are often encouraged to pick up hobbies related to physical fitness to maintain
their health and keep them active. As aging occurs, sometimes involvement in sports and physical
activities weans off. Dancing is an activity that many partake in, whether it be on the professional
stage or in the comforts of the home. To many, dancing brings joy and studies have shown that
dancing can reduce anxiety.
There have also been studies that indicate that physical activity, particularly dancing, can help
improve aging related brain health by aiding with Parkinson s disease. Parkinson s afflicts millions

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Singlehood Singlehood, which is defined as the state of being single and especially unmarried, is a rapidly increasing relationship state in America. In fact, Statistics show that the 102 million single people in the country make up about 44 percent of the entire population and those numbers are steadily rising, (Garder, 2013). Though depending on what type of environment a person grew up in, they may think being single is a waste or a sad situation, but they re just unaware of the benefits of that type of life. Based on both research and my personal experiences I can conclude that singlehood, while it may have its drawbacks, can defiantly benefit people in many ways. While most teenage girls would beg to differ with the particular insight of the advantages of being single outweighing the disadvantages, they cannot argue with the facts. There are a number of studies that have found that being single can actually contribute to success in many parts of one s life. For one, people who are single tend to stay in touch with their families and socialize with the neighbors more than married people do and it s said that they also get the most out of life. A great deal of single people stated that they feel as if their life has been a continuous process of learning, changing, and growth and that they think it is important to have new experiences that challenge how you think about yourself and the world. When comparing that to the constant complaining and regret voiced by married individuals, one can t really help but admit which situation is preferable. Singlehood also gives an individual more time to accomplish personal tasks, such as shopping, volunteering or merely relaxing after a long day at work. Single people aren t, for lack of a better word, chained down, to anyone, so if they need to spend more time focus on their career or personal enjoyment, they can. Due to this, single people usually do become more successful and productive in their jobs because they don t have to stress or compromise the quality of their work as those who have a partner or family do. These individuals are also able to manage their money more carefully and when they only have their own expenses to worry about, it s easier to get ahead of bills ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sidney Grigg In this day and age, a plentitude of young people crave the fast track to fame and fortune, and this means that they often seek jobs within the entertainemnt community. Without any difficulty, they expect to become an overnight success because they are, by their own admission, so cool. Thankfully, there are young actors like Sidney Grigg, who are willing to invest the time and resources required to ensure longevity and eventual success. In Sidney s case, she has had some tremendous experiences already, and recently she related some of those stories to me as she explained how she began in this business and even how she keeps herself motivated and grounded in a career that requires intense fortitude. wp 1473054569712.png RH: What inspired ... We are all really happy for each other when we do well at things and are there for each other when we have tough times. What is your advice to other young people who wish to become actors? My advice would be to take acting classes and do short films to see if you like it! It s different than most people think. It s hard work and long hours, and you do have to miss out on things if you have auditions or are filmin,g so you have to love it! My mom made me do about six short films before she would let me get an agent! What do you like to do in your free time? It s not always that she is written about in a flattering light, and one thing is certain in the history of Philippine cinema, Mother Lily is a legend in her own right! Her reputation precedes her and no matter what, many people would think they owe their lives to her. Today, she is among the very few who has continued to produce movies even if sometimes her films fail to break even at the box office, because according to her, filmmaking is her passion and mission in life. The things that she achieved without the help of anybody aside from her husband gave rise to the development of her self esteem. Now she is ready to reach self actualization after surpassing all the stages of the hierarchy of needs presented by Abraham Maslow. Acceptance of self, others, is the nature of Mother Lily Monteverde that helped her reached self actualization. She is not ashamed or guilty about her human nature, with the short comings of her life, imperfections, frailties, and weaknesses. As of today is a successful producer, mother of Roselle and Meme, and her only son Dondon and a loving wife to Remy Monteverde, being a mother, love and devotion important. • 5. Modernity in The Metamorphosis and The Judgement by Franz... French poet Charles Baudelaire famously coined the term modernity as the transient, the fleeting, the contingent; it is one half of art, the other being the eternal and the immovable . This particularly characterises the transitory nature of contemporaneity, highlighting the importance art has in capturing the experience of this urban cosmopolitan. Through The Metamorphosis and The Judgement, Franz Kafka uses literature in order to portray the sickness of modernity in which tradition has crumbled under the onslaught . Kafka draws upon the negative aspects of this industrial civilisation, particularly highlighting According to Elizabeth Boa, one of the effects of the modernizing process was that of generational tensions as sons sought to over throw paternal authority and find their own way within the modern world. A reoccurring motif within both texts is that of the role reversal of filial relationships in which the son is portrayed as the provider and the father as the dependant. This experiment with traditional family structure can be seen within The Metamorphosis as Mr. Samsa is described as almost commensurate with his wife and daughter due to being unable to support them and wholly relies on Gregor for the household income. He is illustrated as an old man...who could not take on very much , as having an arduous yet unsuccessful life and was now clumsy in his movements due to the great deal of weight he had gained. • 6. Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper It was the year of 1857 and a robust wind blew through the South as the air was filled with both victory and horrific disappointment. An ordinary man named Dred Scott began his journey for his rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Scott s struggle for freedom would come to make him one of the most famous plaintiffs in American history and a worldwide symbol for emancipation. Scott happened to be of African descent which was an extremely difficult obstacle to live with in early America. The Dred Scott decision made by the supreme court in March of 1857 negatively impacted the United States by empowering the South, contributing to the secession, and expediting the Civil War. Dred Scott was forced to travel around with his owner, a United States army surgeon, Dr. John Emerson. Dr. Emerson was assigned to Fort Armstrong located in Illinois. As of 1818, when Illinois became a state, its state constitution declared it a free state (Gunderson 16). Although illegal, Scott was still forced to work as a slave for his master. Dr. Emerson soon requested a transfer from Fort Armstrong which was quickly answered; his new post was at Fort Snelling. Fort Snelling was located in a newly created Wisconsin Territory near present day St. Paul, Minnesota where slavery had been banned since 1820 (Gunderson 16). At the same time, these documents show that the Zhou recognized the Shang as occupying the center of the world, were eager to succeed to that role themselves, and saw history as a legitimate power (59, McKay). The Zhou also believed instead of ruling their regions absolutely they established a decentralized feudal system. This backfired on them causing rebellion as the lord who controlled these lands began to disobey their king and this passed from generation to generation. Cities began emerging throughout the land with heavily built walls for protection as economic change was on the rise. Trade was persuaded by the invention of coins which prospered economic growth. Their armies grew with developments in the crossbow, cavalry, and the infantry. Wars could be easily fought with combination of these new discoveries, and lands could be taken swiftly. As the Zhou dynasty began to unravel and looking for a new rule, the Qin Unification (221 206 B.C.E.), which adopted Legalist policies, proved to unify China for the first time. For an organization to work well it has to have a diversity of people, good communication with all the employees, and to be organized in a way that is effective and efficient to function properly. I currently work at the Turlock Junior High School (TJHS). It is an organization that is composed of the administrative staff, teachers, classified staff and students. Since each branch has different job tasks, communication is very essential among all the branches. For example, if the administration staff does not inform the teachers about a mandatory meeting, the teachers would not know about it and will not attend the meeting. Therefore, the teachers will be reprimanded for not attending without being at fault. And as well if the teacher does not inform the administrator staff about a field trip, the administrator staff will panic when the students are not present in the school. The school must organize in a way that it can function properly. According to Schermerhorn, J. • 9. How To Write An Essay About The Alchemist The bestseller novel The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is known by many people for its valuable lessons and ideas. However, I am not one of these people as I am not fond of this book. Opinion: The Alchemist uses elements of magical fantasy that aren t familiar to me, thrilling and action packed events are not present, and I do not agree with some of the lessons that the book portrays. Components of magical fantasy are used in the novel that I don t understand. Omens, Universal Languages, and mysterious forces aren t principles that I consider in my daily life and therefore they aren t familiar to me. For example, Santiago uses Omens as signs that guide him throughout life. Omens are not a concept that I have learned about until reading this novel. These signals do not make much sense to me, seeming much too coincidental to be real. Santiago also connects things in his life through Universal Languages, such as the desert and the caravan. However, a language that is universal or a language between inanimate things doesn t exist in real life, making it hard for a reader to imagine such a thing. Finally, in the novel, there are mysterious forces that teach people of their personal legends, such as the King was to Santiago. It does make sense for people to realize their dreams and goals through experiences or people. This isn t the case always in the novel, instead, specific forces inform people of their ... Therefore, to show the determination to protect consumer privacy, the government should impose harsher punishment that is deterrent enough. Besides, it is essential to allocate more resource to establish some departments which can help protect people s privacy in e business. In addition to punishment ad establish departments, the government should educate young people about importance of respecting people s privacy. The education should be done everywhere, for example, in school, in public areas, and on television, so that it can uproot young people s wrong values. Companies also ought to take effective measures to protect consumer privacy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A complex between crystal violet and iodine (CV I) is formed within the cell. The structure that determines the Gram reaction is the cell wall structure and not that shape. Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus are stained purple in the Gram staining as they have a high amount of peptidoglycan which forms the outer layer of the cell. This thick peptidoglycan layer is able to trap the purple CV I complex even after alcohol treatment. Escherichia coli is stained pink in the Gram staining and it is a Gram negative bacteria. Gram negative bacterias usually have a thin peptidoglycan layer compared to Gram positive bacterias. The peptidoglycan layer is located between the plasma membrane and an outer membrane containing lipopolysaccharide and this outer layer is dissolved during the alcohol treatment which results in a loss of the CV I complex, hence the pink safranin counterstain is trapped by the peptidoglycan layer (ASM, 2004). Gram staining allows us to observe the characteristics and cell size, shape and arrangement. For Bacillus cereus, endospores were also viewed during microscopic observation. During Gram staining, the most crucial step in determining the outcome is the decolourisation by alcohol step. If alcohol is applied too long, the alcohol may wash all the CV I complex that is trapped in peptidoglycan layer. Therefore, alcohol is only applied for 30 seconds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Questions On The Periodic Table INTU Statement I need to understand the various arrangements of elements and its similarities to the periodic table given in the Nelson Chemistry 11 textbook. Periodic Table The periodic table is the chemicals arranged in order of increasing atomic number and grouped with similar chemical properties. There are 7 periods and 18 groups in the periodic table. The periodic table used in the textbook has a total of 118 elements. About Dmitri Mendeleev Dmitri Mendeleev also known as the Russian scientist who was born in Tobolsk, Siberia. Mendeleev was one of 17 children in his house hold. He is known for the periodic table we use today which was created in 1869. Although at the time he only had 65 elements, his periodic table was the one that stood out the most with, elements organized in increasing atomic weight and grouping them by similarity of properties. Throughout the years more and more elements were being discovered and in total there are 118 elements. What Dmitri did to discover the periodic table was that he wrote all of the 65 elements on separate cards and wrote the atomic weight along with the properties. He re arranged the cards so that he could find a pattern which he did and wrote it on a piece of paper. He later on published the periodic table in the Principles of Chemistry in 1869. The company put their employees at risk when they had knowledge of a safety issue. Training, secondly, is very important in the operation of table saws. While the safety guards are in place to protect the operator from hazards, it is still important that employers have trained their staff properly in operating equipment. Although the safety guard is intended to protect, it only protects in four directions: from above, from the rear and form the sides. This puts the operator hands inadvertently unprotected from the front of the saw. Training records need to be checked and if they are outdated enroll everyone, including the foreman and the shop managers up for training classes on equipment. Lastly, I strongly believe that the prepaid water meter system undermines public health; it forces households to decrease their consumption of water and to make difficult trade offs between food, medicines, school fees, transportation and other essential goods and services and the consumption of water. As a result, families survive on less than the World Health Organization recommended minimum water consumption for life of at least 25 litres of water per day for basic survival (100 litres per day is needed to sustain human development). A lower consumption of water severely limits the ability of development and creates an undignified situation for the poor. In the United Kingdom, prepaid water meters were associated with an increase in dysentery when families self disconnected after being unable to pay for service. • 16. Descriptive Essay On Astronomy Camp Astronomy Camp Slam! I shut the car door behind me. This would be the first year on my own, away from my home and my family. I set my feet on the rough, yet new looking gravel road and let out a sigh. From behind, I hear cars coming my way, and I look around at my surroundings as I grab my things. Trees of all shapes and forms surround me, their green leaves and giant branches enticing me to get closer. I swallow a lump that forms in my throat, urging the already swarming butterflies in my stomach to calm down. This year, I would meet new people and make new friends, it was thrilling. Yet beneath it all, I found myself anxious of the upcoming week. I look around at the trees, trying to convince myself that it wouldn t be so bad. The camp was small, only 3 buildings, but it was quaint.I glance at the buildings of wood and stone surrounding me, and I notice a woman on the porch. She sits with a smile, her lengthy hair down on the ground. I m drawn to her like a sheep to a shepherd and I grab my stuff, walking to her. The woman stands and I note she is short and stout. Though she spoke with power and intelligence, she had a soft and kind tone to her voice. She welcomes me into the camp, showing me to a room where I will be sleeping. I put my substantial load on the bed, grabbing my sleeping bag and pillow. I walk out and notice two new campers have arrived, I feel my heart begin to pound within my chest. • 18. The Theme Of Death In Hamlet 10 Bucks Everyone Dies, Bet (The Theme of Death in Hamlet Acts 4 and 5) There a significance, some deep and abiding meaning to death one that transcends our puny ability to understand? this quote is from chabad.org, by Maurice Lamm. Death is very hard to understand, is it a void which we never return? Death may be just the disintegration of our bodies that we all know as being kind of gross. The play Hamlet has several deaths in it, the play is known as the play of death. Hamlet being the little baby he is just goes around trying to figure out how to get the balls to kill the old man. In the play Hamlet throughout acts 4 and 5 the theme of death is very present, and one of the more major themes. The play Hamlet in act 4 shows the theme of death very well. The theme of death is a biggy in the world of themes throughout the play Hamlet. The play basically has everyone die in the end. Shakespeare shows his genius very well by slipping little clues about the death theme throughout the play. He sprinkles the death ingredients like he is a chef making a masterful entree. Hamlet infers on page 210 line 5, Compounded it with dust, whereto tis the dead. Here Hamlet is responding to Rosencrantz where Rosencrantz is asking Hamlet where he put the dead body of Polonius. The way that the two characters just throw death around like it is some kind of play toy is astonishing. Both Rosencrantz and Hamlet have lost their sensitivity to the subject of death. Lawrence R Samuel Ph.D. states from Psychology today, The end of life is now frequently a prolonged period carrying a heavy emotional, ethical, physical, and financial price, something that has helped make death this country s greatest taboo . This quote shows that death is now a huge taboo to talk about, but back then it really wasn t after Hamlet has killed polonius. Clearly, The theme of death is present during this time in the play Hamlet. The theme of death in Hamlet acts 4 and 5 are really shown by dulling the mind more sensitive subjects. Hamlet the play was the ultimate R rated movie from the olden times.Hamlet suggests on page 214 line 30, A man may eat a fish with the worm that hath eat of a king, and eat the fish that hath fed of that worm. • 20. Within The Context Of American Society, We Have Strayed Within the context of American society, we have strayed from the true purpose and identity of what the church was originally created to be. When we hear the word, church, we think of a building, a mere location where believers gather together every Sunday. The church of America might believe the essential elements of the church are an air conditioned sanctuary, ten different ministry opportunities, and a full band to lead worship. While none of these things are necessarily bad, they do not comprise the biblical model of what the church was created to be. The church can be divided into two components: the Universal Church and the local church. Once a person becomes a believer, they are part of the Universal Church, the body of believers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus commands His listeners to repent for the Kingdom of God is near. In Acts 3:19, Peter says, Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. One cannot enter into a relationship with God without repentance, which is why it is the first essential element of the church. Repentance and faith in Christ turns a person away from his or her sin and allows that person to enter into the grace of God. Repentance is a central command of Christ to the church, and so it must be a central command in our churches today. The second characteristic Peter considers to be essential is baptism. Jesus himself was baptized; so believers of the church today must also be baptized. In Matthew 28:18 20, Jesus gives His final command as, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus considered baptism worthy and necessary enough to be in His final command, it is something we should put into practice today. The command to be baptized is found multiple times throughout the book of Acts and also in the rest of New Testament, thus, making it an essential element of the church today. In Acts 22:16, Paul is told, And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name. Baptism is the first step of obedience as a ... I enrolled in this class with the idea that I would most enjoy reading stories, watching movies and analyzing each of them. Before attending this class, I honestly did not give as much consideration to the writing process as I should have. As a consequence, most of my efforts to adequately express my more passionate ideas failed. Essentially, like Sheriff Bell from the book No Country for Old Men, I felt overwhelmed and I had to accept that I was not prepared to obtain the result I had envisioned. Understandably, I admire writers who can effectively present their ideas and produce the outcome they chose. If I eventually master each of the steps in the writing process, not only will my writing improve but also my enjoyment of writing will increase because I will have the skills to satisfactorily share my perspective. Accordingly, I came to understand I need to increase my proficiency within several areas of the writing process if I want others to fully comprehend and appreciate my efforts to communicate my ideas. Though I cannot claim that my other cross circular outcomes, such as critical thinking skills, are perfect, what I came to appreciate from this class is the importance of the writing process. Tiverton Road and Wolverton Street Corridor Improvement Faculty of Technology and Built Environment Introduction We were asked by our Highway engineering lecturer to write a report about a current or previous project listed on the Auckland transport site. After a research on the site, I have chosen to write about Tiverton road Wolverton street corridor improvement. Tiverton road and Wolverton Street, play a major role in linking the suburbs of New Lynn and New Windsor. The 2.2km stretch of road carries an average of 31400 vehicles per day. And a two lane addition was required to allow for the ease of travel and safer environment for both motorist and pedestrian users. The project has been given less than 2 years to be completed starting in 2014. Background Back in 1920 s, the work had started in developing an arterial road that helped link west Auckland with its central suburbs. The 2.2km stretch of road added great commercial and residential benefits in linking and intersecting with major roads in the area. On September 2012, the road works started after a site blessing held by local iwi Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei and Ngaitai ki tamaki in conjunction with Auckland Transport and Downer NZ. Problem statement With the increased traffic flow caused by the popularity of the road and the current motorway extension to Maioro Street, the road required widening to lower traffic jams during rush hours. In Chinese culture, parents often like to showcase their kids and like to brag about their accomplishments, their goals and their physical appearance. With that in mind, families including mine took height as an obstacle that would make my family proud. Puberty affected my body around the end of my elementary school. I specially remember when I was in Taiwan and was on my way to my friend s house, when my mom gave me a dark, oily brown colored soup put in a water bottle. My mom told me to drink it on the way to his house and the taste was so bad that I almost fainted that night. The soup was composed of a Chinese herb prescribed for growth enhancement. This Chinese herb that was prescribed was known as Panax Notoginseng, also known as Tienchi Ginseng and my mom believed that this soup increased height. Eventually I started to believe that plants had the ability to increase body growth such as my height.
