Letter From A Birmingham Jail By Martin Luther King Jr
Human Rights Activist, Martin Luther King Jr, in his letter, Letter from a Birmingham Jail , writes to
the public, justifying his actions against segregation. King s purpose is to convey the idea that
segregation is morally wrong in all senses. He displays a disciplined, yet exasperated manner while
referencing historical and biblical events, to show society how segregation is inhuman.
King begins his letter to the clergymen of Birmingham by comparing his actions to that of biblical
figures, seeking social justice. He appeals to the audience s religious beliefs by paralleling the actions
taken place. Stating Just as the prophets of the eight century B.C. left their villages and carried their
thus saith the Lord far beyond the boundaries of their hometowns, and just as the Apostle Paul left his
village of Tarus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to the far corners of the Greco Roman world, so
am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town. Like Paul, I must
constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid. He furthermore clarifies that with a nonviolent
social tension, the discrimination will be brought into full view of society. He demonstrates this by
stating, Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the mind so that individuals
could rise from the bondage of myths and half truths to the unfettered realm of creative analysis and
objective appraisal, so must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind

A Description of Formula SAE
Preface:
When a few university professors got together 20 years ago to start a very informal SAE student
design competition then known as Mini Indy, I doubt that any of them expected their efforts would
change the world of motor racing and the lives of thousands of young men and women. Today this
program, renamed Formula SAE ®, has become the world championship for college engineering
students, and the training program for race car engineers and designers around the world. Teams from
as far away as Korea, Japan and Mexico travel to the suburbs of Detroit each May for the big event.
Satellite events have begun in the United Kingdom and Australia. Each year as many as 4,000 students
are members of Formula SAE teams at universities around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It also comes from stories shared with me by many different teams. Much of this is a subjective
interpretation of my experience in the management end of a Formula project. I am human and fully
capable of missing something. I expect people will disagree with some of the ideas presented. The
opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect those of any organization I am now or have been
affiliated with. Part I: Organizational Topics Where to Begin: The natural inclination of any FSAETM
group is to begin by focusing on what car to build. While it is important to be thinking about design
issues and ideas, in the early meetings you will probably not be able to create a definitive plan. Unless
you have designed and built complete automobiles before, you should not make definitive decisions
yet. There will be plenty of dialog and thought given to the car design without making it a priority yet.
Students usually think the biggest problems will be technical. We embark on an FSAE project with
grand visions of a fast, exciting racecar and can t wait to get started designing and building it. What
you find out right away, particularly if you are in a leadership position, is that the largest problems to
overcome have less to do with actual hands on design, construction, and driving of

Bethel University Self-Assessment Survey Analysis
Bethel University provides students with a self assessment survey. (Bethel University, 2014). The
comprehensive manner in which the survey is designed provides students the opportunity to explore
their strong and weak skills. This survey is advantageous for students who desire to improve on their
weaknesses as well as their strengths. Honesty and integrity are required when responding to the
survey, otherwise, self improvement diminishes. Completing the survey enabled me to discover my
weaknesses and strengths. Observing my results caused feelings of competency to inadequacy.
However, these feelings soon subsided, and I began to realize the potential for self improvement.
Clearly now I see my strong skills and the dearth of skills in my

Aaron Feuerstein-a Socially Responsible Owner
Case 1
Aaron Feuerstein A Socially Responsible Owner
The evening of December 11, 1995, was a special time for Aaron Feuerstein, CEO of Malden Mills. A
small surprise 70th birthday party quietly was held in his honor at a local Boston restaurant. But
Feuerstein s life took a dramatic turn that evening for a different reason: A boiler at his company s
plant exploded, setting off a fire that injured 33employees and destroyed three of the factory s century
old buildings. Malden Mills was a privately owned firm, with Feuerstein owning a majority share. The
firm was located in a small Massachusetts town, Methuen, and employed nearly 3,000 people in the
economically depressed area. The fire was a devastating blow for the community. According ... Show

The Bank of Boston donated $50,000, the company s union sent $100,000, and the Chamber of
Commerce in nearby Lawrence, Massachusetts, contributed $150,000. Many of Malden Mills
customers promised to stick with the company and wait for them to rebuild and regain their
production capacity rather than switch to a competitor.
Just eight months after the fire, three of the four production lines at Malden Mills were fully
operational and all but 500 of the nearly 2,400 employees were back to work in the factory. But
unexpected downturns in the apparel industry challenged the wisdom of Feuerstein s actions. By 1998,
employees at Malden Mills experienced steady layoffs and the firm acquired $120 million in debt.
Under the leadership of new chief operating officer Gerald Bowe, following the values of the
company s founder, Malden Mills experienced a turnaround in 1999. Hourly employee recalls
numbered 1,500, bringing the total number of employees back to the level at the time of fire.
Government and overseas contracts countered the decline in sales in the competitive domestic market,
and Malden Mills appeared to be recovering from its financial setbacks as the firm entered the twenty
first century. Aaron Feuerstein s commitment to both the company s economic and social mission and
goals appeared to have emerged from ashes intact.

Waitrose Stakeholders
In this essay I will be writing about the stakeholders of both, The IPO and Waitrose. I will also be
evaluating the impact of different types of stakeholders in one particular company, either The IPO or
Waitrose. Stakeholders can be any person or organisation that has an interest in the activities, good
and services of a business. Firstly with Waitrose. Waitrose is a national supermarket chain with over
305 stores across the UK and Channel Islands and 40 John Lewis stores. Waitrose is under the John
Lewis Partnership and the whole company have over 91,000 employees. Waitrose s aims and
objectives is based upon their future expansion. From the about Waitrose webpage, it states that

The suppliers are an influential stakeholder for any supermarket chain. With Waitrose they get a vast
amount of their supplies from organic farms and other Fairtrade suppliers. Furthermore they get a
small amount of their produce from the small amount of farms which they own, one example is
Leckford Farm. At this particular farm they would be able to supply a small amount of produce to a
local Waitrose store in the surrounding area. The suppliers are an important stakeholder to any
supermarket because if the supplier delivers stock for the supermarket late then Waitrose would not be
able to continue with selling that particular item until the stock is delivered, furthermore if this item is
bought regularly by customers then there would be a lot of complaints unless there would be stock
reserved in case an issue such as this would occur. The

Theory Of Cardiovascular Disease
Introduction
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a global epidemic (WHO 2016). In 2012, The World Health
Organisation (2016) estimated that 17.5 million deaths were caused by cardiovascular related diseases.
In Australia, 45,000 deaths occurred in 2014 (AIHW 2016) and 4,300 Tasmanian deaths in 2010
(Tasmania Medicare Local Limited 2012). The major risk factors for developing cardiovascular
disease include, tobacco exposure, physical inactivity and consumption of foods high in artificial trans
fats. (World Heart Federation 2017). Risks of developing the disease can also be non modifiable, such
as living situations. Individuals living in low socioeconomic areas have been studied to have a higher
association with cardiovascular disease than those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theory has a clear focus on the interactions that occur between an individual and their
environment. Psychological research on this theory exhibited how an environment shapes a certain
behaviour and the influences it has by making it more, or less rewarding to act in a certain way
(Nutbeam, Harris, Wise 2014). The Social Cognitive Theory can be applied to the behaviour of
smoking. In a workplace with no smoking regulations and policies, employees are more likely to be
smokers. Workplaces with strict regulations are in place, the behaviour of smoking becomes more
difficult, resulting in smoking less and the environment is more supportive for quitting (Nutbeam,
Harris, Wise 2014). The SCT identifies the relationship between people and their environment is more
subtle. It describes how the relationship is more complex. Without smoking regulations, smoking
becomes less rewarding if a significant amount of surrounding people are non smokers. If their desire
to restrict smoking is clear and assertive, individuals are more likely to modify their behaviour
(Nutbeam, Harris, Wise 2014). By understanding these interactions, the theory can be applied to
modify behaviour through health promotion interventions. Modifying social norms has been shown to
promote cessation in adults (Nutbeam, Harris, Wise

The Canadian Lyme Disease Prevention
In Canada, there are too many false negative results, according to Jim Wilson, President of the
Canadian Lyme disease Foundation and this standpoint is also recognized by Health Canada.
(Magnotta, 2015). The human body takes several weeks for humans to create antibodies at detectable
levels. This limits the detection of the various genotypes of the borrelia bacteria, from the procedures
used, which in effect, is allowing late stage serology to occur. According to Dr. Ralph Hawkins, who
is a General internal site lead at Calgary s South Health Campus Hospital and a Clinical Associate
Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary, states that serology is failing us; showing only 50
percent positive results in early Lyme disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method is irrespective of the stage of the infection. Current research suggests that a single course
of antibiotics can be insufficient, especially if Lyme disease has been prevalent for several months
(Magnotta, 2015).
Physicians in Canada have not been properly exposed to the symptoms of clinical Lyme disease;
therefore it has become difficult to diagnose a patient with clinical Lyme disease. Professional
organizations, such as International Lyme and associated disease society, and Lyme literate medical
doctors, have acknowledged the uncommonness of Lyme disease in Canada (Magnotta, 2015). Canada
has been highlighted with concerns of misdiagnosis and the increased cost in public health care. The
lack of research and resources in Canada, have caused physicians to dismiss the clinical symptoms of
Lyme disease, and diagnose patients with a variety of other illnesses, such as fibromyalgia, chronic
Fatigue syndrome, to name a few, or something less substantial such as increased anxiety or stress
(Magnotta, 2015). A case study presented in Hospital News has recognized that the rarity of symptoms
requires hospitals and clinics to do excessive amounts of testing and the patient is sent to different
specialists. These chronic illnesses are associated with bacteria, but the Canadian health system needs
to recognize that the underlying diagnoses are infections, where Lyme disease

CalSTRS Defined Benefit Program is a conventional retirement plan calculated based on a formula
using the age, years of service/service credit, and final compensation. The coverage is on CalSTRS
2% at 60 (age 50 with at least 30 years of service credit; or age 55 with five years of service credit),
and on CalSTRS 2% at 62 (age 55 with at least five years of service. Teachers who are eligible for the
benefits are those who are teaching, vocational and guidance advising, curriculum development
related task, and a range of administrative responsibilities. The contributions for this program are
combinations of members, employers, and state. The benefit is paid in the form of lifetime monthly
annuity. In case of negative investment returns, employer bears the risk which made it a safer option
for the teachers. CalSTRS Cash Balance/Defined Benefit Supplemental Program is a mixture of
conventional defined benefit with additional savings for retirement based on the account balance.
Within this plan there are two programs, namely the Defined Benefit Supplemental Program for the
full time educators, and the Cash Balance Benefit for the part time educators. In contrast to the
conventional defined benefit, this program relies heavily on the investment returns hence the amount
of money paid at the time of retirement could be less than the total contribution if the investment
returns were negative. However, there

The Civil Rights Movement During The September Trilogy By...
There isn t one person who hasn t felt in complete disagreement with a statement someone else has
made. At one point or another, we have all been moved enough to state our opinion. This is what starts
wars on the comment sections of various social media platforms today. Disagreements even happened
in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 s. In the March trilogy by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin,
you see these differences of opinion play out. March is about the story of John Lewis early life and
later on, his involvement in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the fight for
equal rights. Although the Civil Rights Movement resulted in desegregation, which wouldn t have

He, and many of SNCC believed paying bail to get out of jail when you are involved in a nonviolent
protest was just justifying the unjust system. Marshall seemed rather content with just protesting, but
Lawson wanted to push things further because as Lewis points out, Young people, as we knew very
well, are willing to risk everything for the cause. (Lewis and Aydin 2: 131). Lewis knew the newer
generation was extremely passionate about the movement and would do anything to help it succeed.
Since the newer and older generation had different ideas about resisting segregation, we can see why
they didn t approve of each other s ideas. These disagreements weren t the only ones that caused
divisions the movement, . There were also organizations who unlike SNCC, SCLC, and CORE wanted
to use violence. One such organization was the Nation of Islam led by Malcolm X. Lewis, like many
others, believed profoundly in the nonviolent method because he was taught and trained on how to
resist nonviolently by Jim Lawson. He disagrees with Malcolm X s use of violence when he states ...
violence, no matter how justified, was not something I could accept. But I could understand his appeal
and the feeling of restlessness that drove it. (Lewis and Aydin 2: 149). Although Lewis was conscious
of what would cause people to use violence, it still wasn t what he stood for. In making this statement,
Lewis makes it clear that

Law Enforcers Should Wear Body Cameras Essay
Criminal Justice Military Studies
Outline
Thesis: In the wake of the recent police brutality, the law enforcers should be encouraged to wear
body cameras.

Argument for making use of body cameras:
Record and keep track of the evidence at the scene of the crime.
A judge will be provided with the chance for them to see and hear exactly what took place at an
incident, which is very different from reading reports that have been written down by the officers.
The lowered litigation costs that arise from the expedited lawsuits.
The frivolous and the justified complaints against the police are bound to cost vast amounts of money
in the jury verdicts and settlements.
To instill trust in the public
The cameras will have the ability to reduce the complaints on the officers that make use of
unnecessary force or poor behavior from the residence or the officer.

common man (The Crisis No. 1). Thomas Paine is successful when he says this to support his
argument of the Americans remaining United during this time against Britain. By using logic he
attempts to poke at the Americans common sense. He tells them the obvious, he knows no person in
their right mind would willingly let someone into their house to take their belongings, so he uses it to
his advantage. He forces the colonist to consider if they wouldn t let their neighbor take their things
why let Britain do it?Why allow yourself to remain under the control of a not so good King? As a way
of persuading the American Colonist to remain or start to stay United with The United States, Thomas

Fidelity, Bravery, And Integrity
Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity. That is the motto. On July 26, 1908, U.S. Attorney General Charles
Bonaparte ordered a group of newly hired federal investigators to report to Chief Examiner Stanley W.
Finch of the Department of Justice. About one year later, the Office of Chief Examiners was renamed
the Bureau of Investigators. It later became the Federal Bureau of Investigators in 1935. With
headquarters in Washington D.C, the FBI is our prime source of investigative resources and
responsible for more than 200 crime categories.

The selection process is intimidating. Real life FBI work is much different than the things that may be

education. Law enforcement is one of the leading careers resulting in death and/or injury, whether it
be from physical altercations or car accidents. Two deaths have also occurred during the training
process as trainees attempted to fast rope out of a helicopter. The hours are highly unpredictable as
well. When considering this career, one should think realistically. One could imagine that a career
such as this is nothing like what I shown on TV where the team is constantly flying out to catch bad
guys. Although staking out overnight and remaining undercover for years are two likely possibilities,
it is also very likely for agents to not leave the office at all. Long hours behind a desk with all different

long hours with a lot of undercover assignments. All agents are constantly on call. As the FBI says on

Nuclear Waste Is The Substance That Nuclear Fuel
Nuclear waste is the substance that nuclear fuel becomes after it has been used in a reactor. Although
the metal rods appear unchanged after their use, the material inside has changed greatly. Before it was
used to produce power, the fuel mainly consisted of uranium. In order to create heat energy in the
reactor, U235 undergoes fission. Fission is a nuclear reaction in which the nucleus of an atom splits
into smaller parts. As a result of this, there is a chain reaction which creates heat. The control rods
control the fission rate and the temperature. In the steam generator, the heat and cooling water create
pressured steam which moves the turbine. The turbine creates energy that goes into a generator which
gives off electricity. The water from the turbine is able to become usable since it gets cooled. Once a
reactor reaches its lifetime, it becomes spent fuel and is treated as waste. Most countries bury the spent
fuel or reuse it. In the U.S., we haven t decided what to do with the spent fuel so most of the spent fuel
rods are stored in temporary storage pools. In the future, the United States plans to bury the waste in
the Yucca Mountains which are located in Nevada. This would be a suitable place since it is not close
to humans or the environment. For the first part of the lab we had to go on Blackboard and open the
Spent Fuel document. We had to go to Appendix III which had some text and a chart about how much
spent fuel has been accumulated by each state. The years

The Book of Revelation Essay
This essay will argue that the eschatology of the Book of Revelation forms an integral part of John s
attempt within the pages of his book to form a literary world in which the forms, figures, and forces of
the earthly realm are critiqued and unmasked through the re focalization of existence from the
perspective of heaven. It will attempt to show that, in response to the social, political, religious, and
economic circumstances of his readers, the Book of Revelation forms a counter imaginative reality.
Through drawing upon an inaugurated sense of eschatology and evocative imagery, John is able to
pull the reader in and show them the true face of the imperial world and consequences of its ideology,
forcing the reader allegiance to fall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 5 of the Book of Revelation, we see Christ enter John s vision in the form of the slain lamb,
a picture of Christ sacrifice (Rev 5:6). In the new song of the saints, the lamb is said to have
ransom[ed] for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation (5:9) and, later in the
chapter, that ...every creature in heaven and on earth... now sings praise to the lamb (5:13). These
verses speak of God s victory already having been fulfilled in Christ s sacrifice in a way that leaves
the reader with a vision of the eschatological hope of the Christian faith as being both fulfilled, but yet
to be completed, a conception which falls within an inaugurated understanding of eschatology. As
such, the end of the world in Revelation can be considered as having already occurred in Christ s
death as evil was defeated and the New Creation initiated, while simultaneously not complete as the
forces of Satan; the beast, the false prophet, and the harlot, still function in the cosmology of the First
Creation. This understanding of the eschatological reality is an important aspect of John s text, as it is
through this that he is able to identify the dangers to the Church as well as encourage and strengthen
its faith.
With this inaugurated conception of eschatology and the not yet aspect of it in which his readers must
dwell, John perceived many threats to the Church, the most powerful one being

Landfill In The Film Wasteland, By Vik Muniz
The movie Wasteland takes us on a journey to a landfill located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. The
Brazilian artist, Vik Muniz, uses his skills to construct pieces of art from recyclable materials and
expresses a strong message through his portraits. Let us explore the lives of those wonderful people
who were touched by the beauty of trash. A movie exploring through a landfill may not seem
interesting, but once Vik makes his appearance, things get a lot more fascinating. Vik for instance, is
an unusual artist who makes some of his art from garbage and in his film he has a vision to change the
lives of the pickers in Brazil. He travels to Brazil from New York and meets several people who work
in the landfill. Throughout his journey he receives insight on what it s like to work in a landfill and
how it has affected the lives of these people. Of the 2 years of being there, he takes pictures of a

To begin with Anna Leah King s presentation to the class on her personal experience of her parents

learn a lot about the residential schools, truth and reconciliation, etc, because we need to be aware of
Canada s past and need to be able to lead the future as we are the ones transferring information into
young minds. Now Anna s story I found was very strong and truthful as she gave two different
experiences in these schools. She said her father was older and bigger when he attended the school so
things like physical abuse did not affect him as he just worked on carpentry the whole time. Where as

Kings presentation we watched the movie Muffins for Granny . In this film it cover survivor stories
from many different people and covers the effects from the schools in their later ages. Before getting
into the stories of survivors, one thing I found interesting in this film was the transfers in between

Nations culture. I found this interesting because it is a documentary on the attempt of assimilation on
the First Nations culture but I feel by using this symbols of land and animals in takeaways it says how
the culture still is alive and strong. Moving onto the survivor stories, once again I found myself
hearing gruesome things and events that took place at these schools which made me feel awful. A new
learning I took from the stories was how much the schools affected these children once they grew up.

Police District 11 requested a reconstructionist respond to a three vehicle crash on the ramp from
Interstate 55 southbound to Tudor Avenue in East St. Louis Township, St. Clair County. I responded
from the Metro East Crime Lab in Belleville to assist. The crash resulted in five injuries.
At approximately 1:13 p.m., I arrived at the scene and met with Trooper Cox. Trooper Cox advised me
what had transpired prior to my arrival. Trooper Cox said a gold 2000 Saturn LS1 and a black 2011

Trooper Cox completed the Illinois Traffic Crash Report 11 16 00806 to document the collision. A
copy of Trooper Cox s report is available in Appendix 2 of this report.
NARRATIVE
During the collision, a gold 2000 Saturn LS1, driven by Cheri E. Post, was reportedly being pursued
by a black 2014 Ford Mustang GT, driven by Jordan M. Kinne, after a drug deal gone bad. The Saturn
and Ford entered the ramp from Interstate 55 southbound to Tudor Avenue traveling the wrong way.
While traveling from Tudor Avenue to Interstate 55, the Saturn and Ford entered the path of a silver
2005 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Pierre D. Manley. Once in the path of the Chevrolet, the front
passenger side of the Saturn struck the front passenger side of the Chevrolet.
After striking the Chevrolet, the Saturn was redirected to its left (south), where it struck the concrete
wall of the ramp. The Saturn deflected off the wall, and traveled back across the roadway to the right
(north), before coming to rest against the concrete wall bordering the north side of the roadway. In its
final resting position, the Saturn was facing northeast. After being struck by the Saturn, the Chevrolet
spun clockwise, where it was then struck on the front driver side by the front driver side of the Ford.
After being struck by the Ford, the Chevrolet was redirected back, where it came to final rest with its
back end near the concrete wall on the north side of the ramp. In its final resting position the

An Interpretation of Graham Greene s The Quiet American
Judging Pyle One of the central themes in Graham Greene s novel, The Quiet American, which
functions more as the thesis of this work of literature, is loss of innocence. Most critics and readers of
this book generally conclude that the loss of innocence is exemplified through the gradual debauchery
of Alden Pyle, the American who comes to live in Vietnam with little first hand experience or
knowledge about the political situation or the people there. One of the principle problems with this
commonly held view of interpretation, however, is that despite how innocuous a background Pyle may
have had when he was in America, his actions in Vietnam are far from innocent. He steals the lover of
his friend; he kills scores of innocent women and children by bombing a very public place at an hour
when it is highly populated. These actions seem more befitting of a quintessential villain rather than
that of an innocent man which poses a significant problem to this traditional interpretation that Greene
s novel is about the loss of innocence of Pyle. However, when one examines the circumstances as well
as the intentions of Pyle throughout much of his involvement in this novel which is fairly substantial it
becomes clearer that for the most part the young man actually is well intentioned, and perhaps even a
victim of circumstance: something that happens to the innocent. An analysis of Pyle s wooing of
Phuong, a young Vietnamese woman, from her substantially older lover Thomas Fowler,

Monica Geller Friends
Monica Geller said the first line of the situation comedy, Friends, which was, There s nothing to tell. It
s just some guy I work with. This line sets up the sitcom with some romance, but also with some
comedy. Just as one would expect, Joey Tribbiani continues the plot by adding humor saying, Come
on! You re going out with the guy. There s got to be something wrong with him. Chandler Bing
continues to add comedy by saying, All right Joey, be nice. So does he have a hump, a hump and a
hair piece? Then, with concern in her voice, Phoebe Buffay asks, Wait, does he eat chalk? Because I
don t want her to go through what I went through with Carl. After that, Ross Geller, the brother of

The group of friends encounter many difficulties when trying to be successful in the city, and go
through numerous awkward situations too. The plot of the sitcom Friends is one of the main reasons
that the sitcom lasted a long time. An article titled 5 Generic TV Sitcom Plots That Will Never Die
claimed that the five generic TV sitcom plots that will never die are working together, when friends
and relatives become involved, pregnancy problems, annoying friends, and when the one that got
away returns ( 5 Generic TV 1). Friends includes every single one of these situations. The friends
Phoebe and Monica work together in a restaurant. This causes problems for Monica because Phoebe
slows the cooking process down. Monica eventually has to figure out a way to fire Phoebe which
causes tension throughout the sitcom. Tension also arose between Chandler and Joey when Joey found
out that Chandler had kissed on of his sisters. Even more tension came about when Joey discovered
that Chandler did not even know the name of the sister he kissed. Another awkward situation included
in the sitcom is when Ross and Rachel face pregnancy problems. When Rachel and Ross had a fling,
Rachel became pregnant. They had been in a relationship before, but found out that their combination
could never work. Because the two were

Christian Beliefs In Dorothy Sayers s The Mind Of The Maker
Dorothy Sayers was one of the most renown female British Christian writers of the twentieth century.
Her best works were in the field of crime and mysterious fiction, however the The Mind of the Maker,
a Christian theological novel that challenged the ideas of Christian beliefs, quickly grabbed the
attention of many in England. Published in the year of 1941, a time period of chaos and distraught
throughout Europe due to warfare that continued to dominate world affairs. Sayers laid the foundation
of great contemporaries in the Church of England were T. S. Eliot, C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams
were acquainted. She portrays the doctrine of the Trinity by relating it to the process of writing fiction,
a concept that she could speak on with tremendous knowledge.
The Mind of the Maker sets forth an analogical study of the Christian doctrine of the Trinity,
comparing the various aspects of the Godhead to the human person. Sayers demonstrates this by
shedding a new perspective on a set of statements made in the Christian creeds. The word Creed is
derived from the Latin word credo, translating to the meaning of I believe . Moreover, The Creeds are
a summary of beliefs in Christianity. In the early years after the death of Christ, churches encountered
the problem of opposing views over matters of whether he was truly God, or if he had both a human or
divine nature. This notion was established not because the early Fathers were eager to finalize the
language of what they believed

Character Formation
Give Your Full Attention to Character Formation 10th June 2010, Chennai, India For some time now, I
have been deeply thinking about the reason for the slow progress of abhyasis, and in some cases even
about the lack of their progress total lack of progress. Of course, some are progressing well, but that
too is perhaps more because of the personal attention that the Master gives them rather than by their
own effort, and I am not referring especially to their spiritual practice but to their lifestyle. You know,
in Sahaj Marg we are always talking of the Master giving the inner spiritual condition, which for him
is a matter of a second, whereas character formation is the responsibility of the abhyasi. I think, in

It doesn t mean it only laughs at locks. The locksmith is symbolic of every circumstance that can come
between the lover and the beloved. You remember the old story of the man who was so besotted with a
girl that when she went out of town, he followed her. There was a river to cross, and the river was in
flood. He did not know what to do and then he found something like a log of wood. He took that log
of wood and went across the river; and then he found a light burning in the house on the first floor. He
said, That must be my beloved s room. And he saw to his surprise a thick rope hanging, and he said,
Oh, she loves me so much that she has left a rope for me, and he climbed up using it. And when he
entered the room, the girl was stunned. She said, How did you come? He said Oh, there was a boat,
you know, there was a log of wood; I crossed the river. And you have left this rope for me. And to
their horror, they found that the log of wood was a human corpse and the rope was a python! Now,
suppose that lover had been standing on the opposite side I mean I am giving a deliberate twist in
interpretation to this story. Suppose he had stood there waiting until the flood subsided? Then he
found the water was muddy because it was a flooding river. He waited till the water was clear. Then he
tested it to make sure that there was no contamination. Then he crossed it. What would have
happened? So for devoted, loving souls who use these excuses to not come near, I

Camelot Caper Short Story
The Camelot Caper written by Elizabeth Peters in 2012, is a nonfiction story about a young American
woman who goes to England to meet her grandfather and return an old family heirloom. Jessica soon
realizes that returning the ring would be more dangerous and more of an adventure than she ever
thought, when she is followed by two men who try to steal the ring. While escaping from the two men
that were chasing her, she discovered a new friend and lover in David. David is the next most
important character of this story because he is the hero of the story. He gets beaten up multiple times,
climbs through miles of rocky and swampy terrain, makes elaborate plans for escape, ideas to capture
the pursuers, and he is shot in the shoulder, all because he is in love with Jessica. His mouth curved up
and he gave her a quick hard kiss (Peters, pg 215). As Jessica and David follow and are followed by
the two men, and she finally discovers that one of them is her cousin John and the other is one of his
friends named Frank who is helping with one of John s schemes. John is a smart, young man who used
a fake mustache to deceive Jessica and David, so that they would stay away from her grandfather long
enough until he died, and he takes Jessica and David through many adventures including chasing,
being chased, kidnaping and being shot at. Jessica and David visited various English cities, which
included: Salisbury, London, Stonehenge , and finally Cornwall, where her grandfather lived,

Comfort Women In Ww2
World War II was a gruesome era filled with violence and death. Each country was in a competition to
find the deadliest weapons. War crimes were highly prevalent throughout this time, such as the
Holocaust, inhumane experimentations, and the Japanese internment. One is often overlooked and
barely spoken of: comfort women. Comfort women were girls and women from Japanese territories
coerce into sex slavery for the Japanese military. The idea behind it was to prevent rape and to reduce
sexually transmitted diseases in the army; however, this came at the expense of innocent women and
girls. Women and girls were tricked or kidnapped to be raped. They were forced into horrific living
condition. While the living conditions were horrible, the scars ... Show more content on

In Chinese Comfort Women: Testimonies from Imperial Japan s Sex Slaves, Liu Mianhuan, a former
comfort woman, recalls, Several military men raped me that day. ... From that day on, the Japanese
troops raped me every day. Each day at least five to six men would come... (7 8). Not only did they
have to experience rape, but also torture, starved, and forced to do labor.
For the comfort women, the hardest thing to do from their experience was to learn to cope with the
trauma if they had survived. According to the United Nations, Only about 25 per cent of these women
are said to have survived these daily abuses (39). They have to live their lives anguished and ashamed
for something they could not control. They would hide the truth from their families. Many of these
women developed mental disorders, like post traumatic stress disorder. Other experienced infertility or
had a physical disability. The worst part of the aftermath is the Japanese government refusing to
acknowledge this has ever occurred. De Brouwer, an author, has written, Until 1992, the Japanese
government has denied any responsibility for the sexual slavery system during World War II... (8). It
has been noted that it is rarely mentioned in history books. Rebuffing atonement to the remaining
comfort women, this strains the relationship between the Japanese government, the surviving comfort
women and the South Korean

Essay on The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello
The Other in William Shakespeare s Othello
In several of Shakespeare s plays the writer introduces the notion of being considered an other , and
whether certain groups are in or out . This theme is significantly portrayed in the play Othello, in
which a black general living in Venice must constantly struggle to balance his dual nature of both
Moor and Venetian. It is apparent that before the play begins, Othello has not yet resolved his
duplicitous self image; however, throughout the action of the play, he is put in a maliciously designed
situation which causes his insecurities and self doubt to breed, allowing the Venetian?s stereotype of
the brutal and ignorant black man to consume Othello s eloquence and education adopted ... Show

(I.ii.70) of Othello, and Iago plays the part of honest and loyal friend, but secretly despises Othello
and crafts an intricate and devious plot for his ruin. The various opinions of Othello in the beginning
of the play show that despite the fact that he can hold a position of power in Venetian society, it is
nearly impossible for him to obtain universal respect from the people who will never accept his exotic
appearance and heritage.
It would be difficult for anyone to come to terms with such contradictory notions of themselves, and
Othello is no exception. Once Iago sets the stage for Othello?s fall, the negative emotions aroused in
the general cause him to release the lunatic black man that the insiders have feared lies within ?The
Moor?s? austere composure. Many critics have suggested that Othello?s extreme jealousy is what
amounts to his belief in Iago?s twisted tale of Desdemona?s infidelity and thus his ultimate downfall;
however, it seems more likely that it is Othello?s insecurity over his sense of self that allows this
manipulation to amount to such an extreme representation of character. Othello himself admits ?Rude
am I in my speech? (I.iii.81), failing to have the confidence to eloquently explicate his relationship
with Desdemona, although his words prove him to possess quite an impressive mastery of the English
language. He comments again on his

I enjoyed reading your post. I agree with you that having complete loss of your vision would be the
hardest for me too. Even though being deaf would be a challenge, I feel that I would be able to handle

children growing up. As far as having a hearing impairment, I have a friend that was completely deaf
from birth and she has a little boy. She did have some challenges raising him when he was an infant,
but she had tools that she used like at night she would wear a sensor that would vibrate to alert her that
the baby monitor was going off. She handled it well because she this is all she knew. Luckily for her,

Inflation Is The Price Of Money Goes Up
In 1923 Germany set a record, a record that no other nation wishes to near or beat. In that year,
Germany s prices rose a trillion times over. Prices rose so fast that workers had to take shopping
breaks to spend their twice a day paychecks before they became worthless (Schiller, 2013). During
this time of inflation, prices more than doubled every day causing people the inability to save, invest,
lend money, or make any long term plans.
According to B. R. Schiller, inflation is the general increase in the average level of prices of goods and
services, and when the inflation rate is in excess of 200 percent lasting at least one year, that is
hyperinflation. Because inflation is an increase in the average price of goods and services, it ... Show

Conversely, if there is a record crop or oranges, we would expect to see the price of oranges fall, as
orange sellers will need to reduce their prices in order to clear their inventory. These are scenarios of
inflation and deflation, respectively, though in the real world inflation and deflation are changes in the
average price of all goods and services, not just one (Moffatt, n.d.).
There are a several ways to measure inflation The GDP deflator, the Product Price Index, or the
Consumer Price Index. The GDP deflator is a price index that refers to all goods and services included
in GDP. The Product Price Index program measures the average change over time in the selling prices
received by domestic producers for their output. The prices included in the Product Price Index are
from the first commercial transaction for many products and some services. Finally, the most common
measure of inflation is the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure
of the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of
consumer goods and services (Consumer Price Index Frequently Asked Questions, 2014) Note that
items in this basket can be purchased from either domestic or foreign companies, which is one way in
which the Consumer Price Index differs from the GDP deflator

Essay Of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Williams et al (2014) compared MBCT with both cognitive psychological education, and treatment as
usual, he compared the success rate of the therapy in preventing the relapse of MDD in people
currently in remission phase following at least 3 previous episodes. It was consequently found that
MBCT provided significant protection against the relapse, for participants with increased vulnerability
due to adverse psychological history, but showed no significant advantage in comparison to an active
control treatment and usual care over the whole group of patients with persistently recurring
depression. Coelho et al (2013) provided a detailed outline of the evidence that supports the claim that
MBCT is a recently developed class based program designed to prevent the relapse and recurrence of
Major Depression. . The evidence from the randomized trials reviewed by the authors, suggests that
for patients with 3 or more previous depressive episodes, MBCT has an additive benefit to usual care.
J. R. van Aalderen, et al (2011) examined the efficacy of mindfulness based cognitive therapy

An Analysis Of Stephen Dobyns Deceptions
Secrets are precious vessels, travelling from a person s heart, out of their mouth, and into another s
ear. But sometimes, due to misplaced trust, the vessels do not stay sealed, or protected, as they should
be. Rather, they are exposed to the masses, and that person s heart is one display for all to see and
judge and interpret. Poems are the secrets of a poet s heart. When a poet writes, it is not intended for
an audience. Rather, it comes from a private place that can no longer be suppressed. There is an
overwhelming desire to tell, to reveal, that leads a poet to paper. The paper serves as a blank space
where they can express their inner desires, fears, or experiences without worrying about the judgment
of others. Once a poem is finished, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jack is shown as one who is highly established in his field of work. Unfair influences of the
consumerism culture are to blame for the Jack s outfits and his professional title. In addition, the fact
that only highly valued tourist destinations do record significant tourist visits could have persuaded
Murray to look closer into the value of the site, perhaps due to media influences on his ideology.
Murray s skewed analysis of the important tourist attraction as a seemingly worthless facility deserves
more thought in order to uncover the actual reasons behind the highly toured places. In general,
worthless tourist destinations play host to just a handful of visitors who upon noticing the
worthlessness would not want to return to the site. By contrast, the landmark might have attracted
significant public investment for a reason. Murray s perception that no credible difference exists
between superficial and deeper meaning of the barn is highly dependent on skewed external forces
within the media. Similarly, DeLillo mocks neo modern human s inability to distinguish realism from
the new Simulated Evacuation they are still battling over funds for (DeLillo 139). The Simulated
Evacuation is arguably the most fascinating case showing the conflict between two opposing sides, but
which could not be understood subjectively. The Simulated Evaluation is real occurrences, like the

Facebook Has Changed The Way People Communicate With Each...
Facebook, a social networking website, has changed the way people communicate with each other. A
social networking website is an online platform that allows users to create a public profile and interact
with other users on the website. Facebook has even changed our most personal and private
conversations and how they are conducted around the world. Since the internet s birth in 1983, this
trend of online communication has been growing. Created in 2004, now registered with more than one
billion participants, Facebook s user numbers surpass even the top four social networking websites
combined. According to Wikipedia statistics, Instagram has 300 million registered users, LinkedIn has
200 million users, Classmates.com has 50 million users, and Flickr has 32 million registered users. To
be further convinced of the claim that Facebook indeed changes the way we communicate, you would
only need to create your own Facebook account and start participating in their social networking
experience. Technology and internet usage is fused into every aspect of our society including the style
of communication. The launch of Facebook in 2006 also enabled other devices such as touch phones,
interactive tablets, and even advanced cars with their own networking capabilities starting in 2007.
Facebook is a multibillion dollar company and is highly recognized for connecting more people than
other networks. Facebook s long term success can be attributed to providing entertainment, world

Muscle Compensation Patterns
Your wrist hurts, now your bicep hurts, then your shoulder hurts, and you are now wondering why
your whole arm hurts. Muscle compensation happens when people hurt one muscle and they try to
make up for their weakened strength. The Fleet Feet Sports Webpage, a webpage dedicated to runners
and their health, says, The body uses compensation patterns to perform motions when strength and
mobility are not sufficient ( Compensation Patterns ). Compensation can lead to a multitude of serious
problems. During a job shadowing experience, I saw a patient experience multiple injuries due to a

  • 2. Letter From A Birmingham Jail By Martin Luther King Jr Human Rights Activist, Martin Luther King Jr, in his letter, Letter from a Birmingham Jail , writes to the public, justifying his actions against segregation. King s purpose is to convey the idea that segregation is morally wrong in all senses. He displays a disciplined, yet exasperated manner while referencing historical and biblical events, to show society how segregation is inhuman. King begins his letter to the clergymen of Birmingham by comparing his actions to that of biblical figures, seeking social justice. He appeals to the audience s religious beliefs by paralleling the actions taken place. Stating Just as the prophets of the eight century B.C. left their villages and carried their thus saith the Lord far beyond the boundaries of their hometowns, and just as the Apostle Paul left his village of Tarus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to the far corners of the Greco Roman world, so am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid. He furthermore clarifies that with a nonviolent social tension, the discrimination will be brought into full view of society. He demonstrates this by stating, Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the mind so that individuals could rise from the bondage of myths and half truths to the unfettered realm of creative analysis and objective appraisal, so must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind ... • 3. A Description of Formula SAE Preface: When a few university professors got together 20 years ago to start a very informal SAE student design competition then known as Mini Indy, I doubt that any of them expected their efforts would change the world of motor racing and the lives of thousands of young men and women. Today this program, renamed Formula SAE ®, has become the world championship for college engineering students, and the training program for race car engineers and designers around the world. Teams from as far away as Korea, Japan and Mexico travel to the suburbs of Detroit each May for the big event. Satellite events have begun in the United Kingdom and Australia. Each year as many as 4,000 students are members of Formula SAE teams at universities around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also comes from stories shared with me by many different teams. Much of this is a subjective interpretation of my experience in the management end of a Formula project. I am human and fully capable of missing something. I expect people will disagree with some of the ideas presented. The opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect those of any organization I am now or have been affiliated with. Part I: Organizational Topics Where to Begin: The natural inclination of any FSAETM group is to begin by focusing on what car to build. While it is important to be thinking about design issues and ideas, in the early meetings you will probably not be able to create a definitive plan. Unless you have designed and built complete automobiles before, you should not make definitive decisions yet. There will be plenty of dialog and thought given to the car design without making it a priority yet. Students usually think the biggest problems will be technical. We embark on an FSAE project with grand visions of a fast, exciting racecar and can t wait to get started designing and building it. What you find out right away, particularly if you are in a leadership position, is that the largest problems to overcome have less to do with actual hands on design, construction, and driving of ... • 4. Bethel University Self-Assessment Survey Analysis Bethel University provides students with a self assessment survey. (Bethel University, 2014). The comprehensive manner in which the survey is designed provides students the opportunity to explore their strong and weak skills. This survey is advantageous for students who desire to improve on their weaknesses as well as their strengths. Honesty and integrity are required when responding to the survey, otherwise, self improvement diminishes. Completing the survey enabled me to discover my weaknesses and strengths. Observing my results caused feelings of competency to inadequacy. However, these feelings soon subsided, and I began to realize the potential for self improvement. Clearly now I see my strong skills and the dearth of skills in my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Aaron Feuerstein-a Socially Responsible Owner Case 1 Aaron Feuerstein A Socially Responsible Owner The evening of December 11, 1995, was a special time for Aaron Feuerstein, CEO of Malden Mills. A small surprise 70th birthday party quietly was held in his honor at a local Boston restaurant. But Feuerstein s life took a dramatic turn that evening for a different reason: A boiler at his company s plant exploded, setting off a fire that injured 33employees and destroyed three of the factory s century old buildings. Malden Mills was a privately owned firm, with Feuerstein owning a majority share. The firm was located in a small Massachusetts town, Methuen, and employed nearly 3,000 people in the economically depressed area. The fire was a devastating blow for the community. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bank of Boston donated $50,000, the company s union sent $100,000, and the Chamber of Commerce in nearby Lawrence, Massachusetts, contributed $150,000. Many of Malden Mills customers promised to stick with the company and wait for them to rebuild and regain their production capacity rather than switch to a competitor. Just eight months after the fire, three of the four production lines at Malden Mills were fully operational and all but 500 of the nearly 2,400 employees were back to work in the factory. But unexpected downturns in the apparel industry challenged the wisdom of Feuerstein s actions. By 1998, employees at Malden Mills experienced steady layoffs and the firm acquired $120 million in debt. Under the leadership of new chief operating officer Gerald Bowe, following the values of the company s founder, Malden Mills experienced a turnaround in 1999. Hourly employee recalls numbered 1,500, bringing the total number of employees back to the level at the time of fire. Government and overseas contracts countered the decline in sales in the competitive domestic market, and Malden Mills appeared to be recovering from its financial setbacks as the firm entered the twenty first century. Aaron Feuerstein s commitment to both the company s economic and social mission and goals appeared to have emerged from ashes intact. Questions: 1. Which principle of social responsibility was the basis of Aaron ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Waitrose Stakeholders In this essay I will be writing about the stakeholders of both, The IPO and Waitrose. I will also be evaluating the impact of different types of stakeholders in one particular company, either The IPO or Waitrose. Stakeholders can be any person or organisation that has an interest in the activities, good and services of a business. Firstly with Waitrose. Waitrose is a national supermarket chain with over 305 stores across the UK and Channel Islands and 40 John Lewis stores. Waitrose is under the John Lewis Partnership and the whole company have over 91,000 employees. Waitrose s aims and objectives is based upon their future expansion. The suppliers are an influential stakeholder for any supermarket chain. With Waitrose they get a vast amount of their supplies from organic farms and other Fairtrade suppliers. Furthermore they get a small amount of their produce from the small amount of farms which they own, one example is Leckford Farm. At this particular farm they would be able to supply a small amount of produce to a local Waitrose store in the surrounding area. The suppliers are an important stakeholder to any supermarket because if the supplier delivers stock for the supermarket late then Waitrose would not be able to continue with selling that particular item until the stock is delivered, furthermore if this item is bought regularly by customers then there would be a lot of complaints unless there would be stock reserved in case an issue such as this would occur. • 7. Theory Of Cardiovascular Disease Introduction Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a global epidemic (WHO 2016). In 2012, The World Health Organisation (2016) estimated that 17.5 million deaths were caused by cardiovascular related diseases. In Australia, 45,000 deaths occurred in 2014 (AIHW 2016) and 4,300 Tasmanian deaths in 2010 (Tasmania Medicare Local Limited 2012). The major risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease include, tobacco exposure, physical inactivity and consumption of foods high in artificial trans fats. (World Heart Federation 2017). Risks of developing the disease can also be non modifiable, such as living situations. Individuals living in low socioeconomic areas have been studied to have a higher association with cardiovascular disease than those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theory has a clear focus on the interactions that occur between an individual and their environment. Psychological research on this theory exhibited how an environment shapes a certain behaviour and the influences it has by making it more, or less rewarding to act in a certain way (Nutbeam, Harris, Wise 2014). The Social Cognitive Theory can be applied to the behaviour of smoking. In a workplace with no smoking regulations and policies, employees are more likely to be smokers. Workplaces with strict regulations are in place, the behaviour of smoking becomes more difficult, resulting in smoking less and the environment is more supportive for quitting (Nutbeam, Harris, Wise 2014). The SCT identifies the relationship between people and their environment is more subtle. It describes how the relationship is more complex. Without smoking regulations, smoking becomes less rewarding if a significant amount of surrounding people are non smokers. If their desire to restrict smoking is clear and assertive, individuals are more likely to modify their behaviour (Nutbeam, Harris, Wise 2014). By understanding these interactions, the theory can be applied to modify behaviour through health promotion interventions. Modifying social norms has been shown to promote cessation in adults (Nutbeam, Harris, Wise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Canadian Lyme Disease Prevention In Canada, there are too many false negative results, according to Jim Wilson, President of the Canadian Lyme disease Foundation and this standpoint is also recognized by Health Canada. (Magnotta, 2015). The human body takes several weeks for humans to create antibodies at detectable levels. This limits the detection of the various genotypes of the borrelia bacteria, from the procedures used, which in effect, is allowing late stage serology to occur. According to Dr. Ralph Hawkins, who is a General internal site lead at Calgary s South Health Campus Hospital and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary, states that serology is failing us; showing only 50 percent positive results in early Lyme disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This method is irrespective of the stage of the infection. Current research suggests that a single course of antibiotics can be insufficient, especially if Lyme disease has been prevalent for several months (Magnotta, 2015). Physicians in Canada have not been properly exposed to the symptoms of clinical Lyme disease; therefore it has become difficult to diagnose a patient with clinical Lyme disease. Professional organizations, such as International Lyme and associated disease society, and Lyme literate medical doctors, have acknowledged the uncommonness of Lyme disease in Canada (Magnotta, 2015). Canada has been highlighted with concerns of misdiagnosis and the increased cost in public health care. The lack of research and resources in Canada, have caused physicians to dismiss the clinical symptoms of Lyme disease, and diagnose patients with a variety of other illnesses, such as fibromyalgia, chronic Fatigue syndrome, to name a few, or something less substantial such as increased anxiety or stress (Magnotta, 2015). A case study presented in Hospital News has recognized that the rarity of symptoms requires hospitals and clinics to do excessive amounts of testing and the patient is sent to different specialists. These chronic illnesses are associated with bacteria, but the Canadian health system needs to recognize that the underlying diagnoses are infections, where Lyme disease ... CalSTRS Defined Benefit Program is a conventional retirement plan calculated based on a formula using the age, years of service/service credit, and final compensation. The coverage is on CalSTRS 2% at 60 (age 50 with at least 30 years of service credit; or age 55 with five years of service credit), and on CalSTRS 2% at 62 (age 55 with at least five years of service. Teachers who are eligible for the benefits are those who are teaching, vocational and guidance advising, curriculum development related task, and a range of administrative responsibilities. The contributions for this program are combinations of members, employers, and state. The benefit is paid in the form of lifetime monthly annuity. In case of negative investment returns, employer bears the risk which made it a safer option for the teachers. CalSTRS Cash Balance/Defined Benefit Supplemental Program is a mixture of conventional defined benefit with additional savings for retirement based on the account balance. Within this plan there are two programs, namely the Defined Benefit Supplemental Program for the full time educators, and the Cash Balance Benefit for the part time educators. • 10. The Civil Rights Movement During The September Trilogy By... There isn t one person who hasn t felt in complete disagreement with a statement someone else has made. At one point or another, we have all been moved enough to state our opinion. This is what starts wars on the comment sections of various social media platforms today. Disagreements even happened in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960 s. In the March trilogy by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, you see these differences of opinion play out. March is about the story of John Lewis early life and later on, his involvement in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the fight for equal rights. Although the Civil Rights Movement resulted in desegregation, which wouldn t have been possible without the contribution of its leaders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He, and many of SNCC believed paying bail to get out of jail when you are involved in a nonviolent protest was just justifying the unjust system. Marshall seemed rather content with just protesting, but Lawson wanted to push things further because as Lewis points out, Young people, as we knew very well, are willing to risk everything for the cause. (Lewis and Aydin 2: 131). Lewis knew the newer generation was extremely passionate about the movement and would do anything to help it succeed. Since the newer and older generation had different ideas about resisting segregation, we can see why they didn t approve of each other s ideas. These disagreements weren t the only ones that caused divisions the movement, . There were also organizations who unlike SNCC, SCLC, and CORE wanted to use violence. One such organization was the Nation of Islam led by Malcolm X. Lewis, like many others, believed profoundly in the nonviolent method because he was taught and trained on how to resist nonviolently by Jim Lawson. He disagrees with Malcolm X s use of violence when he states ... violence, no matter how justified, was not something I could accept. • 16. Nuclear Waste Is The Substance That Nuclear Fuel Nuclear waste is the substance that nuclear fuel becomes after it has been used in a reactor. Although the metal rods appear unchanged after their use, the material inside has changed greatly. Before it was used to produce power, the fuel mainly consisted of uranium. In order to create heat energy in the reactor, U235 undergoes fission. Fission is a nuclear reaction in which the nucleus of an atom splits into smaller parts. As a result of this, there is a chain reaction which creates heat. The control rods control the fission rate and the temperature. In the steam generator, the heat and cooling water create pressured steam which moves the turbine. The turbine creates energy that goes into a generator which gives off electricity. The water from the turbine is able to become usable since it gets cooled. Once a reactor reaches its lifetime, it becomes spent fuel and is treated as waste. Most countries bury the spent fuel or reuse it. In the U.S., we haven t decided what to do with the spent fuel so most of the spent fuel rods are stored in temporary storage pools. In the future, the United States plans to bury the waste in the Yucca Mountains which are located in Nevada. This would be a suitable place since it is not close to humans or the environment. It will attempt to show that, in response to the social, political, religious, and economic circumstances of his readers, the Book of Revelation forms a counter imaginative reality. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter 5 of the Book of Revelation, we see Christ enter John s vision in the form of the slain lamb, a picture of Christ sacrifice (Rev 5:6). In the new song of the saints, the lamb is said to have ransom[ed] for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation (5:9) and, later in the chapter, that ...every creature in heaven and on earth... now sings praise to the lamb (5:13). These verses speak of God s victory already having been fulfilled in Christ s sacrifice in a way that leaves the reader with a vision of the eschatological hope of the Christian faith as being both fulfilled, but yet to be completed, a conception which falls within an inaugurated understanding of eschatology. As such, the end of the world in Revelation can be considered as having already occurred in Christ s death as evil was defeated and the New Creation initiated, while simultaneously not complete as the forces of Satan; the beast, the false prophet, and the harlot, still function in the cosmology of the First Creation. This understanding of the eschatological reality is an important aspect of John s text, as it is through this that he is able to identify the dangers to the Church as well as encourage and strengthen its faith. • 21. An Interpretation of Graham Greene s The Quiet American Judging Pyle One of the central themes in Graham Greene s novel, The Quiet American, which functions more as the thesis of this work of literature, is loss of innocence. Most critics and readers of this book generally conclude that the loss of innocence is exemplified through the gradual debauchery of Alden Pyle, the American who comes to live in Vietnam with little first hand experience or knowledge about the political situation or the people there. One of the principle problems with this commonly held view of interpretation, however, is that despite how innocuous a background Pyle may have had when he was in America, his actions in Vietnam are far from innocent. He steals the lover of his friend; he kills scores of innocent women and children by bombing a very public place at an hour when it is highly populated. These actions seem more befitting of a quintessential villain rather than that of an innocent man which poses a significant problem to this traditional interpretation that Greene s novel is about the loss of innocence of Pyle. However, when one examines the circumstances as well as the intentions of Pyle throughout much of his involvement in this novel which is fairly substantial it becomes clearer that for the most part the young man actually is well intentioned, and perhaps even a victim of circumstance: something that happens to the innocent. Coelho et al (2013) provided a detailed outline of the evidence that supports the claim that MBCT is a recently developed class based program designed to prevent the relapse and recurrence of Major Depression. . The evidence from the randomized trials reviewed by the authors, suggests that for patients with 3 or more previous depressive episodes, MBCT has an additive benefit to usual care. J. R. van Aalderen, et al (2011) examined the efficacy of mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) in addition to treatment as usual (TAU) for recurrent depressive patients and found that MBCT resulted in a comparable reduction of depressive symptoms for patients. Analyses also suggest that the reduction of depressive symptoms was mediated by decreased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 31. An Analysis Of Stephen Dobyns Deceptions Secrets are precious vessels, travelling from a person s heart, out of their mouth, and into another s ear. But sometimes, due to misplaced trust, the vessels do not stay sealed, or protected, as they should be. Rather, they are exposed to the masses, and that person s heart is one display for all to see and judge and interpret. Poems are the secrets of a poet s heart. When a poet writes, it is not intended for an audience. Rather, it comes from a private place that can no longer be suppressed. There is an overwhelming desire to tell, to reveal, that leads a poet to paper. The paper serves as a blank space where they can express their inner desires, fears, or experiences without worrying about the judgment of others. Once a poem is finished, ... Jack is shown as one who is highly established in his field of work. Unfair influences of the consumerism culture are to blame for the Jack s outfits and his professional title. In addition, the fact that only highly valued tourist destinations do record significant tourist visits could have persuaded Murray to look closer into the value of the site, perhaps due to media influences on his ideology. Murray s skewed analysis of the important tourist attraction as a seemingly worthless facility deserves more thought in order to uncover the actual reasons behind the highly toured places. In general, worthless tourist destinations play host to just a handful of visitors who upon noticing the worthlessness would not want to return to the site. By contrast, the landmark might have attracted significant public investment for a reason. Murray s perception that no credible difference exists between superficial and deeper meaning of the barn is highly dependent on skewed external forces within the media. Similarly, DeLillo mocks neo modern human s inability to distinguish realism from the new Simulated Evacuation they are still battling over funds for (DeLillo 139). The Simulated Evacuation is arguably the most fascinating case showing the conflict between two opposing sides, but which could not be understood subjectively.
