Essay About Myself For College
Crafting an essay about oneself for a college application is a task that often proves to be more
challenging than it initially appears. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of writing
but also in the introspective journey it demands. Describing one's own experiences, aspirations,
and personality in a way that captivates the attention of college admissions officers is no small
feat.
Firstly, the challenge arises from the need to strike a delicate balance between confidence and
humility. It's essential to present oneself in a positive light without coming across as arrogant or
boastful. Choosing the right tone and language to convey accomplishments and personal growth
is a nuanced process that requires self-awareness and a keen understanding of the audience.
Furthermore, the pressure to stand out among a sea of applicants adds another layer of
complexity. The fear of sounding clichГ© or generic can be paralyzing, pushing the writer to
delve deeper into their unique experiences and perspectives. This introspection can be
emotionally taxing as it often involves revisiting personal challenges, triumphs, and moments of
vulnerability.
Additionally, the challenge extends to the structural and technical aspects of essay writing.
Crafting a compelling narrative that seamlessly weaves together various aspects of one's life,
academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and future goals requires not only strong
writing skills but also an ability to create a coherent and engaging story.
In conclusion, writing an essay about oneself for college is a demanding task that goes beyond
the surface of academic achievements. It requires a deep dive into one's own experiences and a
careful navigation of self-expression. The writer must walk the fine line between confidence and
humility, all while addressing the unique demands of the college admissions process.

various types of writing assignments, you may explore the services offered on HelpWriting.net

Basic Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning
Segmentation
When entering a market, an organisation needs to identify its customers and what its
customer needs are. A business can t go into a market with a product and expect to
sell it, because the demand for the product may not be there. It is important for the
business to plan thoroughly before entering a market and understand the diverse
nature of a market. For example, a market may have large range of consumers who
have different tastes, preference and needs. So this is where the concept of
segmentation will be applied.
Segmentation is defined as the identification of individuals or organisations with
similar characteristics that have significant implications for the determination of
marketing strategy . To break this down,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Target marketing
An important part of marketing is selecting the market you want to enter to provide
your products or services. So once you have successfully used market segmentation to
divide your market into reasonable consumer segments, you then need to use
targeting to choose the market you are going to serve.
Choosing a market to serve is an extremely important decision a business will need
to make, because a bad decision at this stage could result in failure. To help make
the right decision, a company should use criteria to evaluate a market, for example:
* Effective * Measurable * Accessible * Actionable * Profitable (foot note) Another
method of evolution would be the SMART objectives method: * Specific *
Measurable * Achievable * Realistic * Time scaled
Either way, an organisation should evaluate their potential market before entering
them. There have been cases where businesses have entered markets and failed,
because they did not evaluate effectively. In 2003, Burger King introduced a new
line of chicken sandwiches aimed at appealing to a more health conscious
demographic (the BK Baguette Sandwiches). The product never caught on in the
U.S. and was quickly replaced with the TenderGrill Sandwich . It s evident that of a
failing product and more importantly evidence of poor marketing strategy. If burger
king used targeting properly, the product may have been more
Graphic Design Portfolio
Our Graphic Design Portfolio is meant to not only help myself but other people
who are looking at my skill set. In order to show this, the project must contain
artwork from each Adobe program such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and
Animate. Photoshop can either show our abilities in editing photographs, how we
can create gifs or simply how we can use it to draw. Illustrator is mostly about
vector drawings and shows how we can use it to create 3D images or simple logo
designs. Indesign will show how well we can format, through creating simple
menus or as complex as creating magazines. Animate, on the other hand, will show
how we can also create moving images, short animations and can also be used to
create gifs. Each piece of work will reflect my artistic abilities, creativeness, art
style as well as my strengths and weaknesses in each program. Through this

It was not something we have used before, since Web Design is not our major, but
over time of messing around with it, I was able to use it correctly and found many
other uses as well. Also finding the appropriate artwork was hard because I
personally lost a lot of my artwork over the years and my selection was minimized
to only my senior work and some work that was saved from the previous years.
Selecting the artwork was crucial because it had to be enough to show my skills, a
lot of the work I choose where past contests that we worked on, and very little of it
was work I independently worked on. However, I wanted to add as much artwork
as possible, so I began to work on independent projects to enhance it. A lot of work

but for it to be unique and stand
Pros And Cons Of Ban Plastic Bags
Perhaps one of the most commonly questions in the past, is now rarely heard by
consumers. Four out of five grocery bags in the US are now plastic
(Reusablebags.com). However, the answer should not be merely plastic, the real
answer is neither. Plastic bags are very harmful for the environment, and paper
bags even more so. The best alternative is a reusable bag, which can save thousands
of plastic bags over its lifetime. Plastic bags are everywhere. We see them anywhere
from the town grocery market to the convenience store down the street. Admittedly,
plastic bags are very convenient. They are a cheap, hygienic way to transport one s
purchases. However, once they get home, there is not much use for the piece of
plastic. Sure, some reuse them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the population would not be using plastic bags, they would be using paper.
As we can see, paper bags are even worse for the environment than the plastic ones.
Also, the ban on plastic bags will not cause people to start using reusable bags; it
may actually cause a shift of the production to other use and toss bags
(Reusablebags.com). The ban on the plastic bags had not worked out for places
nearly as well as the PlasTax. Ireland, for example, imposed the PlasTax, which is a
tax on plastic bags. However, there are some exemptions to the tax, which include
heavier weight reusable plastic bags; bags used for meat, fish, or poultry; bags for
unpackaged produce, ice, or other foods without packaging (Reusablebags.com).
The PlasTax worked so incredibly well, that plastic bag consumption was reduced
by a whopping 90 percent, and approximately one billion fewer plastic bags were
used. The amount of litter was dramatically reduced, and eighteen million liters of oil
were saved. Several other countries and cities around the world are now considering
implementing a similar tax, including UK, Australia and New York City
Abortion Did Not Lower Crime Rate
Ever since Freakonomics was published, and sold, which it sold very well to be
honest, there has been many debates about one theory that Steven D. Levitt used to
explain why the crime rate dropped in the 1990 s. That theory is that the Supreme
Court case of Roe V Wade, which legalized abortion in all fifty states. Steven Levitt
stated in Freakonomics that the legalization of abortion had the biggest percentage
of why the crime rate went down. Yet, I would like to question this theory myself.
One big controversy that I have with this theory is that Mr. Levitt did not put in to
factor the crack issues that were occurring during the time. The 1990 s was the
biggest boom for the crack industry, becoming the major reason of why people were
committing homicide during the decade. So how does one truly know if those
fetuses that were aborted would have joined the crack fiasco (http://online.wsj.com
/public/article/SB113314261192407815
HLjarwtM95Erz45QPP0pDWul8rc_20061127.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top). Another
issue that I have with this abortion theory is that it is being conducted as a total,
complete whole of all people in the United States. In the 1970 s non white females
were at their peak of abortions. One would expect that the crime rate should be the
lowest then in the 1990 s for non whites, but in the years of 1993 and 1994 homicide
was at its peak for young black male adults. Even though the statistics prove this to be
true, Levitt and his partner of this theory, John
Challenges Of Email Marketing
Today s businesses know that it s often more cost effective to work with a present
customer rather than to try to seduce pure strangers. Email campaigns are therefore a
personalized and responsive way to reach customers. Marketing automation and email
campaigns also provide value by communicating in a relevant way.
Email marketing automation is a way to automate e mailing to market to your
customers or future customers. Automation is an important tool, and it is often
overlooked or misunderstood. If we only have to remember one sentence that
summarizes these actions and that characterizes the performance in email marketing,
it is: Send the right message at the right time and to the right person.
Remember, there are therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your automation scenarios can be as simple or as complex as you want. Automation
is a device that allows the creation of data automatically without the intervention of a
person (except when setting up). Here is another goal that could be achieved: track
and send educational content to your prospects if they buy or contact you.
Each customer experiences a different situation, which deserves a tailor made
response, however, that is impossible to deliver manually when you reach a certain
volume. Your automation scenarios can, therefore, be as simple or as complex as
you want. Indeed, there are also automatic emails such as cross selling, last chance to
order, reactivation, etc.
The perfect example is Amazon which targets its emailing campaigns (and on its site)
according to the profile of his contacts and according to their purchases with similar
products. Another side of email marketing automation that is often put forward is the
time of the employees you can save (much like a chatbot).
These automated emails will bring real added value as part of the customer
relationship, not to mention the impact on campaign performance. It is, of course,
essential to use this information responsibly in order to meet their needs and desires.
With marketing automation, you can communicate messages that respond
automatically to every moment the customer experiences as they relate to the business

How the Galveston Hurricane affected Texas Human bodies bobbed facedown in
the water, bumping against the boat ( Anderson vii ). By September 7, 1900,
Galveston was the 4th largest city in Texas ( Galveston ). It was a growing and
flourishing port city of 37,000 (resources); and one of the wealthiest cities in the
country ( Galveston ). On September 8, 1900 a powerful hurricane slammed into
Galveston ( Galveston ). Its highest wind speed recorded before the anemometer
blew away was 100 mph, but the speeds were estimated as high as 135 mph (
Galveston ). Over 3,600 buildings were destroyed in the hurricane causing 30,000
people to be homeless ( Galveston ). A 15 foot storm surge engulfed the entire
island leaving the highest point of the island just over 8 feet above sea level (
Galveston ). Evacuation was almost impossible ( Galveston ). At first their estimation

Economic Impact Industries were forced to move to Houston ( Martinez ). This
caused a loss on huge sources of money for Galveston that otherwise would have
been able to give Galveston a little bit of recovery. Individual losses plus public
property losses such as paving, water works, schools, hospitals, and churches
totaled to around, if not over, 30 million ( Resources ). Most of these losses would
have had to been rebuilt immediately to keep the future of the younger people in
the correct road to success. Because of all of the losses in the hurricane, Galveston
never recovered economically ( Martinez ). Galveston is still at a large loss of money
that it will probably never recover in our lifetimes. The TexasLegislature agreed to a
tax and sale of bonds to pay for raising the elevation of the city ( Martinez ). Using
the money raised from this tax, a 3 mile long seawall was built to protect the city
from future floods

looking for the safer car. The Range Rover has many more safety features than the
Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep does how ever have a 911 emergency button. It also has
parallel and perpendicular park assist. But the Range Rover has parking sensors,
adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and lane departure warning. If you
have a teen driver in your family that your buying for, or you just want a new, safe,
and nice car then you should definitely invest in the car. The Range Rover also has
many comfort features as well. Beginning with not only heated seats in the front
but also in the rear seats. The Jeep and Cherokee both have driver seat memory and
power seats. The cost of each is something else. They differ in price buy about 20,000
30,000. The Jeep tends to be about $29,855 and the Range Rover is about $57,965. If
you have been saving for your car for a while or have enough money to buy the car,
then you should go for the Range Rover. But if you need to stay on the lower price
side the Jeep would still be a nice car. The jeep has a gas mileage of 16 mpg and...

Television And Race Essay
Race Televised: America s BabysitterAt some point in the course of human events,
America decided that the television was their Dali Lama, their cultural and spiritual
leader. Overlooking its obvious entertainment based purpose, Americans have let the
television baby sit and rear their children. I do not recall a manifesto from the
television industry, but society put television in a role it does not have authority in.
The only thing television set out to do was provide the passive entertainment
American society wants. True, television does not accurately reflect race in America,
but it is not the job of the television industry to do so. Too much importance has been

Nuclear Power And Its Effects On The World
On October 24th, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said, Climate
Change is real! Climate Change is caused by human activity! Climate Change is
affecting all parts of the world. Sanders speaks about the disruption of ecosystems,
the dying of species, and the destruction of earth s atmosphere. The creation of
increased greenhouse gases caused by heavy reliance on fossil fuel energy has
disrupted Earth s equilibrium. Sanders calls for alternative energy in America; hailing
countries that have transformed their fossil fuel dependency. Nuclear poweris a
relevant factor in alternative energy for policy makers. In the 1950 s, anticipation for
nuclear energy was very high, people thought that new advancements in nuclear
energy would make electricity free. Nuclear power was successfully implemented for
commercial use in 1954 Russia. Since then a total of 438 nuclear reactors were
created around the world, including the United States, with 67 still under
construction. Nuclear power support has always waned throughout the years,
reaching high points of investment when oil prices skyrocketed in the 1970 s.
Nuclear power is praised for its efficiency and minimal environmental impacts,

The Story Behind The War
The Story Behind the War
By
Tiana Thibeault
Traditionally, students have been taught that differences between northern and
southern economies caused the Civil War. The industrial revolution in the North,
during the first few decades of the 19th century, brought about an economy that
revolved around a machine age which relied on wage laborers, not slaves. At the same
time, the warmer Southern states continued to rely on slaves for their farming
economy and cotton production. Southerners made huge profits from cotton and
slaves and fought a war to maintain them. Northerners did not need slaves to establish
or maintain their economy and fought a war to free them. Everything else, we are led
to believe, was tied to that economic difference that was focused on cotton.
The economy which was tied to agriculture was certainly one cause of the Civil
War, but not the only one. Wars are never simple and neither are their causes.
Research shows there are other factors that helped bring about the war which are
central to a deeper understanding of America s past.
So what did start the Civil War a war that divided the nation, destroyed crops, cities,
and railroad lines, and claimed 630,000 lives? Many factors threw the nation into
chaos in 1861. Key political issues at the time include the slow destruction of the
Whig Party, the founding of the Republican Party, and, most important, the election
of Abraham Lincoln as president in 1860.
Religious opponents to slavery increased in number

Ticket scalping is when event tickets purchased from primary markets (such as box
offices) are resold on secondary markets. Tickets are purchased at official prices set
by ticketing agents (P), and then sold at higher prices, to those who are willing to
buy it (Ps). Therefore, profits drive scalpers to initiate such activities, which leads to
excess demand, and ultimately not allowing the market to clear.
When tickets (the official fixed amount, therefore having perfectly inelastic supply)
is sold out, there is a shortage and excess demand is present, as Qd is more than Qs.
Scalpers then increase their ticket selling price from P to Ps, reducing demand closer
to Qs, until it reaches Qs=Ps.

As seen from the surplus diagram above, scalping does not affect producer surplus
(ticket office) and total surplus. This is because the supply curve is perfectly
inelastic, which leads to scalpers gaining a surplus, as they are able to sell at a
higher price than expected. This causes consumer surplus to decrease, as consumers
have to pay more for scalpers tickets.

Summary Of The Movie The Aftermath
The Aftermath Through the emerging 21st Century, there was straining tension in the
air with a concentration encircling the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States. The
resulting effect from this event was the modification of the entire system of airplane
modeling, safety, procedure, and technology to conform to the emerging dangers of
air flight in attempt to making travel a more enjoyable and protected experience.
Though this new and improved system of air flight demonstrated positivity and
appeared to be a fantastic alternative to the previous regulations, the world was
shocked in July 2002 whilst the Bashkirian Airlines Flight 2937 had a fortuitous
collision with airline DH2 Flight 611 (Gugliemi 6). In this concussion, the air flight
traffic coordinator was temporarily distracted while the two planes conflicted due to
lack of communication. During the period at which one airplane descended 10,00
feet, the other ascended 10,000 feet resulting in the death of hundreds of people upon
plummeting to the immediate earth (YouTube). In the movie trailer of the Aftermath,
a specific storyline is developed in order to both captivate and inspire the spectators.
Kayolev is confronted with the terrible reality that his wife, daughter and future
grandchild were aboard the plane that resulted in a terrible demise. In the furtherance
of this trailer, the original protagonist withstands a series of events and becomes an

Zoos Are A Valuable Source For Public Study And

When I was a little girl, I was always eager to go to the zoo where I could get up
close with hundreds of beautiful animals. I had heard many interesting stories of
animal lives and how hard they had to fight in the wildlife to survive. The zoo, in
my eyes, was a wonderful place where animals were rescued and taken care of. It
was much more interesting when I figured out animals could do several things like
monkeys could drive bicycles, and dolphins could dance in the water. However,
with the reveal of media, the zoo also has the other aspect that is not as wonderful
as I thought. Monkeys were not born to entertain us on bicycles, and dolphins do
not naturally dance in the water. They all have to go through a severe process of
training to do tricks and entertain for human. The zoo has many positive effects on
both human and animal, but it also go along with several negative consequences.
While many zoos are a valuable source for public studying and revenue for wildlife
conservation, they also could take away animal freedom, and torture them for
commercial uses and entertainment. Many years ago, the zoo was established as a
place where people could come to explore animal that they had never seen before.
It was unclear when the earliest zoo was opened, but they were all established for
the purpose of public spectacles and animal study. According to the article Zoo

Assimilation Between Latino Culture And Mass Media
Currently, on the New York Times Bestsellers list as well as the Publisher s Weekly

amplifies the sour relationship between Latinx authors and the mainstream media.
When we take a closer look at this unhealthy relationship, we find that the root of the
problem can be found within the mainstream American publishing industry which
often divides literature into genres of ethnic literature. This label leads other

Censorship Of Women In The Media Research Paper
Large breasts have been the ideal standard of female beauty in American society,
especially in media culture. Although the biological role of female breasts is to
provide milk while nursing a newborn, their sexual role of attracting mates or just
exuding sexual appeal in general is more pronounced, and usually the bigger they
are, the more attractive a female looks. Some examples of society glorifying the
voluptuous look include: porn; advertisements; the Victoria s Secret Bombshell Bra

Issues with the inequality between men walking around shirtless and women walking
around shirtless, censorship of female breasts, and the laws of several states banning
breast feeding in public spurs the FreeTheNipple campaign, a movement with a
goal to empower women across the world and stop unfair censorship of the female
anatomy. In my opinion, I can see the feminist cause behind this campaign and
how ridiculous it is that breasts have become taboo in society, however I don t
think walking around shirtless to promote the normalcy of breasts will do much of
anything because no matter what breasts will forever be considered sexual and

many are brought up like that; at a young age, we are conditioned to think female
breasts should be concealed. I think the movement is a great cause, but in terms of
successfully carrying out it s goals, it s

The Testament Of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is known by many people throughout the world as the incarnation of
God. Christians believe in one God who is three persons. The Father, Son and
Holy Spirit is called the Trinity. The second person, God the son also known as the
Word of God became a man to save the human race. He was born in the city of
Bethlehem in Israel. He was known as Jesusof Nazareth, or Jesus son of Joseph and
Mary, or Jesus the son of the carpenter. As he became known and respected as a wise
and holy man, people realized that there was much more to him. As knowledge of
him increased among his followers, people began to call him Christ, which means
Anointed . They came to understand that he was the fulfillment of the prophesies of
the Old Testament. The Old Testament is first half of the Bible. This is what the
Jewish people believe to be the complete Bible. The Bible is believed to be the
inspired word of God. It is God s teachings and communications to the human race
which reveals his love for us and how he wants us to live. As an expression of his
love he promised to send a messiah or savior to save us and help us live happier
lives now and go to heaven after we die. It contains several prophecies that prepare
us to recognize the true savior when he comes. Christians believe that the savior
prophesied in the Old Testament is Jesus. The New Testament is the other half of the
Bible that Christians believe is also the inspired word of God. The New Testament
shows how Jesus is
Night Persuasive Speech
The audience can not hear me. They sit in their seats and ponder the question of
my exact location. Knowing that I am here, they wonder if the poor soul admitted
into my arena shall suffer my wrath! Oh yes the know that I am here, for it is them
who chose this life for me, made me into the monster I am, starved me to the point
where I only have a hunger, an appetite, a taste for blood. Their blood. My
predatory instincts are on high alert. So yes, they can not hear me. But I can sense
them. Years of listening to my surroundings and hearing the squeak of the great
doors that hold me has made me obsessed with the same question my audience asks.
What will be the accused s fate? Shall he open my doors giving me the privilege to

Hate Speech Vs Free Speech
For decades, there has been a war between free and hate speech such as the African
Americans attempting to take their freedom of speech while also battling against
prejudice and discrimination from Caucasians. It has taken over Universities in
countries all across the world, and seems to only progressively get worst. Instead of
respecting other s views, it seems as though many people cannot accept a view unless
it is their own, which turns into the violenceshown in the article Hate Speechvs Free
Speech. Where is the Line on College Campuses? It addresses both sides of the
problem in a predominately emotional way (Xia, 2017). By using pathos mainly, it
connects the reader to the problem at hand and causes them to want to make change
when given the examples of all the horrible things hate speech has done while
clashing with free speech. Free speech should not be affected by those that decide to
use that freedom to do wrong unless it causes violence, suicidal tendencies, or
destruction. Xia begins by telling about how a guest speaker s visit to debate with
students was canceled for the reasoning of violence. Milo Yiannopoulos tours
colleges across the country had caused protesters, whether attending the universities
or not, to become violent with one another. A man had even been shot in Seattle.
Berkeley is known as the birthplace of the Free Speech Movement , which had
angered its students when Milo and another speaker, Ann Coulter s, visits were
canceled due to hateful
Benefits of the Placebo Effect
What if there was a new drug that s making you high, but is just a sugar pill? What
if you can get drunk with non alcoholic drinks? What if there was a pill that can
cure all your physical and emotional problems? This is known as the placebo effect.
The placebo effect is a phenomenon in which some people experience a type of
benefit after the use of a placebo. A placebo is any substance with no known medical
effects; such as sterile water, saline solution, or a sugar pill. (About.com Psychology)
Although it doesn t have known effects, people exposed to the placebo effect often
gets the effect on what it s supposed to do.
A placebo is a substance or other kind of treatment that looks like a regular
treatment or medicine, but it is really not. It is actually a treatment or substance
that is inactive; this means that it is not a real medicine. The person who is
getting a placebo does not know that the treatment is not real. Sometimes the
placebo is in the form of a sugar pill, but a placebo can also be an injection, a
liquid, a procedure, or any other type of therapy that doesn t directly affect the
illness being treated. Even though placebos do not act directly on the disease, it
affects about 30% of people who experienced it.(Tulsa Brain Tumor Clinic.) People
taking placebos have experienced reduced pain, healed ulcers, eased nausea, and
many other illnesses.(ScienceDaily.) As many people suggest, the placebo is actually
an expectancy effect; when people already know what
Music Education Budget Cut
Many factors take part in the elimination of music education courses in public
schools, but the main one is budget cuts. In the New York Times article School Arts
Programs Survive Budget Woes , Javier Hernandez reports, Three quarters of
principals said that funding remains a major challenge in their ability to maintain
lively arts programs, (Hernandez 2). Without the means to pay for musicprograms,
schoolofficials face the dilemma of whether or not to cancel music educationin
schools.
Events such as the stock market crash and the recession are the reasons for state
funding has been cut so drastically. In 2008, music education had a $185 million
budget cut (Hernandez 1). To accommodate to such drastic budget cuts, school

Biography of John Adams Essay
John Adams was born October 30, 1735 in Braintree Massachusetts to his father John
Adams and mother Susanna Boylston Adams. His father was a deacon, lieutenant in
the militia, and farmer. John looked up to his father, more than anyone. Recounting
later in his life that if he could go back in time he would become a farmer like his
father. John was the eldest to two younger brothers Peter and Elihu. He was also the
second cousin to Samuel Adams who will later convince him to join the revolution,
and third cousin to his future wife Abigail Smith. Growing up on a farm the young
John Adams was opened to the world around him.

his men seek the aid of a lawyer who will try their case. Every lawyer, not wanting

Adams realized that it would be an uphill battle, faced with a Bostonian jury and
the threats and badgering against anyone who would be a witness. Adams has to
convince the jury that Captain Preston did not order his men to fire, and were
attacked by the crowd, while also proving that the crowd was a mob rather than a
lawful assembly. From an eye witness that was standing next to the Captain
proclaims that he did not tell his soldiers to fire. More witness confirm that the
crowd was carrying clubs and sticks, while throwing oyster shells, snowballs, and
rocks at the soldiers. The most alarming find was that some witnesses confess that the
crowd was daring the soldiers to fire. Through
Emily Dickinson s Poetry And Poetry
Emily Dickinson s poems They shut me up in Prose and I Dwell in Possibility on the
surface may seem similar, both having the same structure, three four lined stanzas,
and punctuation. However, they convey different messages. Typically Dickinson
writes dark, meditative and defiant toned poems about death, genderand poetryitself,
often challenging social beliefs and traditions. Each poem sticks to these pre
modernist views and styles, but place the emphasis on different aspects of her
common themes. Although the poems are similar in form and their uses of
metaphors, the focus of these poems are different, I dwell in Possibility focuses on
the limitless possibilities of poetry and the power associated with it, while They
shut me up in Prose discusses the role of a female poet being free of social restraints
in a mans world through poetry, together these individual themes convey Dickinson s
emphatic view of poetry s ability to free women from social prejudices.
In I dwell in Possibility Emily Dickenson compares poetry to prose in the first few
lines. Prose is written in the normal syntax of everyday conversation. It has no
metrical structure, as well; it is tedious and lacks expression. After the first two lines
however, prose is not mentioned any further. This could possibly be because there is
not much left to desired in prose or Dickinson is refraining from giving prose any
further recognition. To Dickinson, poetry is limitless in possibilities, which she
Pros And Cons Of Cruel And Unusual Punishment
The eighth amendment states that cruel and unusual punishment can not be
inflicted upon anyone. Although the eighth amendment does state that cruel and
unusual punishment can not be enforced the eighth amendment does not state
what cruel and unusual punishment actually should include. It is hard to decide
what punishments should be identified as cruel and unusual. I believe that there
should not be any terrible punishment that is pushed too far to handle although that
is my stand I also believe that some things have an excuse to enforce a cruel and
unusual punishment. Is death penalty cruel and unusual or should it be enforced
on certain people is a question that is commonly asked. Some people can do the
unthinkable crimes such as killing someone or even multiple people something
that you believe could never happen or maybe should never happen. Or maybe
something you think there should even be the possibility for it to happen. Or
maybe they raped or molested someone, or maybe hurt a kid or teenager. I
personally do not want people that can do this with no regret or thought to be able
to be in my life or even my world. I believe that there are certain cutoffs on who
should get the death penalty and who should not get the death penalty. People who
killed another human being or hurt a child in any severe way deserves the death
penalty. If that child or person does not have the right to live or even live a normal
life anymore then the person who did it should not have the right to live a normal life
or even a life at all. Someone who rob someone or even robs a bank or stole
something from a store should be locked up or put in prison. I believe that walking a
certain great amount or being forced to do hours of laborious work is cruel and
unusual but having a prison job and cold showers are not. Anyone who is in a
prison is most likely in there for a reason. The reason being they broke a law of
some sort. Or that person did something that they knew would end them up in jail
and still decided to do it anyways. If you can not stop yourself from doing
something that is harmful to yourself or others then you get to spend some time
working like everyone else does on a daily basis. Another common question asked is
The Struggles of the Worn Out Arthur Miller s Death of A...
From the time Arthur Miller began writing plays, till his recent death in 2005, he
had never had such a well know play as Death of a Salesman. This play was first
performed in the late 1940 s. It reveals the struggle of an old, worn out, salesman
who is upset with the life that he has created. With the strain of his past mistakes
lurking in the back of his mind, Willy cannot handle the stress and begins to have
hallucinations of the past about the things he could have changed.

only of himself, but of his family, marriage, and job. Who is to blame for all this
destruction? Society? His family? Or Willy himself? I believe the answer to that ...

No one made that decision of cheating other than Willy; he can t blame it on anyone
but himself. Making that decision impacted Willy for the rest of his life. Every time
he left he was so vulnerable for wrongful choices. Another big reason I believed that
lead Willy to have destruction was that he relied too much on his children. He
expected something more than they could give him. Both of his children knew they
couldn t give their dad what he wanted, which ruined their relationship.
2.) As the play ended the state of Willy and his mindset began to change. He started
to relies the type of life he had lived and the type he wanted to live. Early in his life
he imagined of becoming a successful business man. Don t say? Tell you a secret
boy. Don t breathe it to a soul. Someday I ll have my own business and I ll never
have to leave home anymore (23). One who would not have to travel, have his own
office, and own a really nice suit. He foreseen all the connections he would have
with others in the business world and how they would all remember him from the
success he would have. But that idea was far from reality. No one remembered
Willy in the business world he was just another travelling worker, no big shot,
someone who was soon to retire. As Willy thought about this more all he could hope
for was the success of the two good looking boys he had raised, in hope that they
would be the next big thing. But
Humanism In Frankenstein
Frankenstein: The First Work of Science Fiction? A Science Fiction story is a story
with a human problem, and a human solution, that would not have happened at all
without its scientific content. This quote from late Science Fiction author Theodore
Sturgeon defines the genre of Science Fiction as a story that contains a real conflict
and solution that are ultimately derived from a scientific context. Frankensteinis a
classic work of literature for being both a thrilling, gothic horror and a morality tale
that examines the advancing world of science. Because of the way Shelley applies
science and its concepts the story, her novelis often considered the first piece of
Science Fiction. Frankenstein follows Sturgeon s definition, but upon... Show more

Shelley s entire story is a social commentary on the alluded science, the science that
is both Victor s greatest accomplishment and his downfall. Victor Frankenstein, at a
young age, having just the scientific training of his books and professors, manages
something that was seemingly impossible. By having Victor restore life to a
mismatched array of body parts, Shelley exemplifies the rapid, unprecedented
advancements of technology. As the story goes on, readers see the downfall of
Victor at the fault of his creation. He even notices his mental deterioration while he
is just making the original creature, when he remarks, Sometimes I grew alarmed at
the wreck I perceived that I had become; the energy of my purpose alone sustained
me, (Shelley 57). This way, Shelley shows that rapid scientific advancement can be a
bad thing. She conveys the message that venturing quickly into something unknown
can have deadly consequences. It s a morality tale that goes to the heart of the
purpose of technology, remarks Michio Kaku in Prophets of Science Fiction.
Shelley s commentary displays the immorality of Victor s use of technology, and in
this she is remarking on non fictional scientists as well. Though her commentary is
initially powerful, her argument becomes blurred when Victor reencounters the
monster. At this point, Shelley reveals that, despite the fact that he killed Victor s
younger brother, he had a good reason. Shelley s writing portrays the monster as a
heart felt being in need of companionship, which confuses the point she made. Did
Victor create a good creature, one that could learn and be beneficial to society if
managed properly? Readers cannot tell, nor can they tell what Shelley had intended.
She dilutes her original critique of scientific advancement, making Frankenstein a
poor example of Science
Corrective Action for Disrespecting Higher Ranking...
This essay is on tact, professionalism, respect and disrespect, as part of my
corrective action for disrespecting higher ranking military personal. I will start this
essay off with defining each of the subjects so that the reader may have a full
understanding on what each mean. Tact is the first subject on which I am suppose
to include in this essay, tact is defined as a keen sense of what to say or do to avoid
giving offense; skill in dealing with difficult or delicate situations. The second
definition needed for this essay is on professionalism; professionalism is defined as
professional character, spirit, or methods. Given that there are three main points to
that definition, character is the key phrase to take from that definition for it pertains
more to this essay then spirit or methods. The third definition needed is on respect,
and the most suited definition for respect as it pertains to this essay is, deference to
a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to have
certain rights or privileges; proper acceptance or courtesy; acknowledgment. With the
definition of respect given, the last and most important definition is disrespect.
Disrespect is defined as to regard or treat without respect; regard or treat with
contempt or rudeness. Tact in my opinion is the way you handle yourself in situations
that you do not agree with or support. In the military you will face many situations
that you may not understand or agree with and the
Parable Of The Lost Sheep
How is Luke s claim on the repentance of sinners in the Parable of the Lost Sheep
being illustrated by the differences in detail found, in comparison to the Gospels of
Matthew and Thomas?
The Parable of the Lost Sheep is one of the many parables Jesus gave during his
lifetime. It is found in the two canonical gospels: Matthew 18:10 14 and Luke 15:3
10. It is also found in the non canonical gospel of Thomas 107. It is about a shepherd
who leaves his flock of ninety nine sheep behind to go look for the one sheep that is
lost. This context is similar in all of the three Gospels.
However, although there are similarities, there are also differences. These
differences have an implication for the message grasped by the readers. The focus
will be on the repentance of sinners claimed in the Gospel of Luke and how it differs
from the messages found in the other two Gospels. I will do this by analyzing the
effect of the differences in language, symbolic representation, the location of the
parable, audience, and the context in which it is written, found in these three Gospels.
In terms of symbolic presentation, Luke uses the word sinners to compare them to the
sheep as seen in verse 7, ...one sinner who repents... Jesus is giving a reason why he
is friends of tax collectors and sinners. This is because they are like the sheep, lost
and need saving through repentance. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus uses the words
little ones . Jesus uses these words after giving a lesson about
An Example Of Alice And Bob
In Public Key Cryptosystem there are two keys used i.e. a public key and a private
key. Consider an example of Alice and Bob. I Bob wants to send a message to Alice,
Bob uses Alice s public key to encrypt the message and then send that encrypted
message to Alice. Alice uses her private key to decrypt the message. Here how does
Bob know the Public Keyof Alice? Alice might have distributed its Public key
through a secure communication channel. This method is applicable only if there is
trust/familiarity between both Bob and Alice. If Bob and Alice does not know each
other this whole method fails.[28]
This drawback is removed by using a trusted third party (TTP) to uniquely bind
public keys to users or another entity such as an organization. This is the place we
require a PKI (Public Key Infrastructure). A PKI has one more trusted elements
called Certification Authorities (CAs). For instance, Erin is a CA. CA issues
Alice a certificate (which contains the public key of Alice) signed by the CA s
public key after checking Alice s credentials. Bob can now recover Alice s
certificate and confirm it is authentic by checking the signature on it. Certificates
may should be revoked later because of different reasons. For instance, if Alice s
private key is stolen, she will need to request that the CA deny its certificate. How
does Bob know whether a certificate is revoked? The CA keeps up a revocation list
which permits Bob to confirm if a given certificate is revoked or not. The

In this following assignment, we will be developing monitoring systems for Suzlon
Energy India. The assignment is focused on an efficient development of a monitoring
system.
2. Sustainability Monitoring and Reporting System
Sustainability monitoring system is used to implement and measure sustainable
performance. Reporting is a good practice for measuring and accounting performance,
of the organization towards the sustainable development and its goal (Roth, 2010).
Triple Bottom Line method is used to achieve sustainability monitoring and
reporting. They consider social, environmental and economic performances. The
method also allows us to think about the corporate social responsibilities (CSR).
TBL can be used for challenges that can occur in the future and and they can also
find new opportunities. It is provides great value for the organization, Therefore it
should be integrated in business for its day to day operations (Triple Bottom Line
Reporting in Australia, 2003).
The Triple Bottom Line is,
Social: is what the organization does for the labor and community or the region in
which the organization conducts the business.
Impact Of John Adams On Society
Johns Adams, the first vice president of the United States and the second president of
the U.S.A., was a prominent political figure during the beginning of the United States
of America and did a lot to build the country to what it is today. John Adams has had
more impact on American society and culture than any other person in history by
being involved in the creation of the American government, saving America from
crisis multiple times, and his involvement in foreign affairs. John Adamshad
important roles as a founding father of the United States. He was responsible of

With the war going bad for the Continental Army, John Adams was sent to France
to try to convince them to give America naval help, for the U.S. s navy was very
weak. After attempting to gain naval support Adams sailed to Holland to get a
loan from the Dutch. He was successful in gaining the loan. Throughout the end of
the war, Adams would try to make peace with Britain. He was the main negotiator
in this action and would be successful in creating peace between the two countries.
After the US was favored to win the war, Adams was sent back to Paris to negotiate
peace. Finally, in 1783 the Treaty of Paris was created declaring peace between the
countries. Adams also had an impact with immigrants, but the actions he took
overshadow his entire presidency. He passed an unfavorable act which is still
controversial and argued today, the Alien and Sedition Act. These acts could ve
been passed in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Acts like these were passed
during the Cold War. The acts basically took away many rights including freedom
of speech, freedom of press, lawmakers jailed, and immigrants weren t allowed in
the country. Immigrants were the main targets for these acts. It made it harder for
them to get in, the aliens could be kicked out, and instead of having to reside in the
U.S. for five years to vote, they would have to stay in the United States for fourteen
The Steady Decline of Salmon Populations
From the San Francisco Bay to streams and rivers of Oregon, salmon populations
have been steadily decreasing over the past two decades but more rapidly within
recent years. In general, fish populations in the Pacific Northwest region have always
fluctuated, but the overall trend continues on a downward slope to extinction. While
natural phenomena such as flooding and predators of the food chain do affect salmon
populations, human activity poses the greatest threat by far. The four main
reasons of salmon plummeting are as followed: Harvest, Hatcheries, Hydropower,
and Habitat. It s clear that water ecosystems and management of human activity
threaten salmon as a whole. Whether it s a bay, river or stream whatever body of
water that contains salmon should be subject to ethics that guide our actions as a
part of achieving a better overall environment. Salmon have a truly incredible life
cycle. Like all fish, salmon spawn from female eggs and then go on to develop into
alevin, which is a term for newly hatched fish. First off, they derive nourishment
from the yolk sac from where the salmon are born. Once the sac has been absorbed,
the fry, or baby fish, then emerges from the river gravel and starts the search for
food. Fry instinctively deal with the river currents and learn to swim together as a
school right away. Anywhere from a couple days to two years old, fry will continue
to live in fresh water until they start the next, smolting, phase. Smolting is a
Michael Henchard Critical Lens Essay
The quote Proud people breed sad sorrows for themselves said by Emily BrontГ«
describes Michael Henchard in the book The Mayor of Casterbridge written by
Thomas Hardy. Throughout Henchard s life he makes mistake after mistake, only
to blame others for his wrongdoing; but ends up only causing more harm to himself.
In the beginning of this story, he starts out as a young, immature husband who s
abusive and always drunk, but after one detrimental night, his life s turned upside
down. He moves to, and later becomes mayor of, the small town of Casterbridge
where he spends years trying to forget about his past, until his past shows up
disguised as his wife and daughter he sold to a stranger 20 years prior. Michael

Lucetta falls ill and dies, and now Farfrae and Elizabeth Jane are planning on
getting married. Even though Farfrae s now Henchard s enemy, he s willing to
overlook his own emotions first, and put his daughter s first. Henchard leaves
town of their wedding day, but once Elizabeth Jane hears that he has left, she
immediately goes looking for him and finds him at a friends house, near death.
Henchard passes and his daughter takes his will, only to read that Elizabeth Jane
Farfrae be not told of my death, or made to grieve. (242) Hardy s use of diction
here is important because Henchard says Elizabeth Jane Farfrae which implies
that he has learned to put his past rivalry with Farfrae aside and accept their love.
He also feels that he has caused enough pain in her life that she does not deserve
any more. He s somewhat guilty for all the things he has put her through. The will
continues to say that no man remembers me. and Hardy s use of tone signifies that
Henchard s not doing this for pity, he s true in his words (242). This is a huge
change in Henchard s character because, previously, all he wanted was to be
accepted and thought highly of by everyone, and now he asks that no one
remembers him. After reading her father s will, Elizabeth Jane comes to the
realization that he has truly had a change of heart and that the man who wrote them
[the words on the will] meant what he said. (243). Elizabeth Jane s tone in this
sentence suggest that she forgives him for all the pain he has caused her, and she s
willing to move forward. Through Henchard s acceptance of her marriage, he s truly
a different person, because before, he would have only thought of how the situation
applied to him but now he s finally thinking of other people. Henchard s cognizance
allowed him to realize that his pride was doing nothing but hurting his relationships

Essay Network Topologies
Network Topologies Network topologies are an important part of the network.
Without the proper topology, the network may not meet the needs of the
organization. The layout of a network is referred to as the topology. How nodes in a
network are connected to each other and communicate is determined by the topology.
There are three basic topologies with several typical variations, or combinations. A
description of four topologies follows. Mesh Topology Mesh topology is the first
topology discussed. In a mesh topology, the devices are connected with many
redundant interconnections between nodes. Each device in the mesh topology is
connected to every other device in the network. The mesh topology is the most
expensive to implement but is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Data is transferred quickly without congestion. All computers have the same amount
of access to the rest of the network. Disadvantages to the ring topology are, failure
of the network if one computer fails, isolating problems with the network is difficult,
and the addition or subtraction of computers to or from the network causes
disruption in the network. Star Topology The star topology consists of one central
switch, hub, or router to transmit messages. The computer will send a signal to the
hub, which receives and then retransmits the message to all the other computers or
devices attached to the hub. Good performance is an advantage to using the star
topology. Centralization of resources, ease of set up and expansion, and the network
still performs properly when one computer fails are all advantages to the star
topology. The expense of installation, extra hardware required, and if the central hub
fails the entire system fails, are disadvantages to the star topology. Ethernet Ethernet
is a network technology for local area networks (LAN). Ethernet uses a bus or star
topology and supports data transfer rates of 10Mbps. (Webopedia, 2007). Ethernet is
the most popular architecture used today. One advantage to Ethernet is the ease of
installation. Ethernet costs less than other network architectures and is easy to use.
Ethernet supports many different kinds of networking media, which makes it more
popular

third Mirabal sister was the one who was more wrapped up in the revolution. Maria
Teresa the youngest of the sisters just wanted to be like her oldest sisters. The
butterfly is a symbol for the main characters, the Mirabal sisters. Butterflies are
unique, they represent freedom, and they have a very short life span. The Mirabal
sisters, much like the butterflies were unique, and died young. They had to sacrifice
their lives in order to be free like butterflies.
In the book, there are many different themes, but one of the main themes is Family. I
don t know who talked PapГЎ into sending us away to school. (Alvarez 11) Minerva

Stock Split
EFFECTS OF STOCK SPLIT
Introduction
The purpose of this research paper is information retrieval regarding stock split
practice in a modern stock market, its major reasons and valuation effects on the
company s financial position.
According to the definition stock split is a method commonly used to lower the
market price of a firm s stock by increasing the number of shares belonging to each
shareholder. Companies are able to split their stocks in any number of ways. The
most common stock splits are, 2 for 1, 3 for 2 and 3 for 1. For example, if you own
100 shares of a company that trades at $100 a share and it declares a 2 for 1 stock
split, you will own a total of 200 shares at $50 a share after the split. It is also
possible to have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, one year ago a single share of Berkshire Hathaway cost around
$101,000 per share and was the first stock to ever hit a six digit share price.
Berkshire Hathaway is not going to split their stocks and not interesting to make the
price more affordable for small investors because these stocks are not for common
people. These stocks are designed for very wealthy investors.
As we can see from Figure 1, through one year the price of Berkshire Hathaway s
shares increase for approximately 48,000 per share.
Figure 1. BRK A, 2007. Thus, in spite of fact that price of these stocks is awfully
high, investors still buy it because it has been increasing from year to year.
Reverse Stock Split
A reverse split reduces the number of outstanding shares and should instantly lift a
stock s price. For example, a stock trading at $1 that is reverse split 1 for 5 should
rise to $5 while the company s market value and underlying fundamentals are
unchanged. Investors own fewer shares, but their value stays the same. So, it really
depends on the substance of the stock behind the stock. And it is right that most
reverse splits turn out badly. Most times, a reverse split is done because the shares
have fallen down into the penny stock category (below $5 per share) that threatens
their ability to remain listed on an exchange. Nasdaq requires that a
Explain Why Is It So Hard To Tell A True War Story
A true war story is never moral. It does not instruct, nor encourage virtue, nor
suggest models of proper human behavior, nor restrain men from doing things men
have always done. Why is it so hard to tell a war story? The answer to that will be
there is never a moral. There is really nothing to say about a true war story, beside
probably oh . A war story does not indulge in abstraction or analysis. If a war story
is true your stomach will make you believe. It is almost impossible to tell a true
war story For example Rat Kiley tortured a baby water buffalo. The vividness in the
text makes ur stomach turn of how gruesome that certain event was. Kiley shot the
buffalo to pieces basically. When Kiley was done he wanted to cry but instead

Essay About Myself For College. 500 Words Excellent Essay On Myself For Students

  • 1. Essay About Myself For College Crafting an essay about oneself for a college application is a task that often proves to be more challenging than it initially appears. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of writing but also in the introspective journey it demands. Describing one's own experiences, aspirations, and personality in a way that captivates the attention of college admissions officers is no small feat. Firstly, the challenge arises from the need to strike a delicate balance between confidence and humility. It's essential to present oneself in a positive light without coming across as arrogant or boastful. Choosing the right tone and language to convey accomplishments and personal growth is a nuanced process that requires self-awareness and a keen understanding of the audience. Furthermore, the pressure to stand out among a sea of applicants adds another layer of complexity. The fear of sounding clichГ© or generic can be paralyzing, pushing the writer to delve deeper into their unique experiences and perspectives. This introspection can be emotionally taxing as it often involves revisiting personal challenges, triumphs, and moments of vulnerability. Additionally, the challenge extends to the structural and technical aspects of essay writing. Crafting a compelling narrative that seamlessly weaves together various aspects of one's life, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and future goals requires not only strong writing skills but also an ability to create a coherent and engaging story. In conclusion, writing an essay about oneself for college is a demanding task that goes beyond the surface of academic achievements. It requires a deep dive into one's own experiences and a careful navigation of self-expression. The writer must walk the fine line between confidence and humility, all while addressing the unique demands of the college admissions process. If you find yourself grappling with the complexities of such a task or need assistance with various types of writing assignments, you may explore the services offered on HelpWriting.net . Professionals there can provide guidance and support in crafting essays and other written projects, ensuring that your unique story is presented in the most compelling way possible. • 2. Basic Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning Segmentation When entering a market, an organisation needs to identify its customers and what its customer needs are. A business can t go into a market with a product and expect to sell it, because the demand for the product may not be there. It is important for the business to plan thoroughly before entering a market and understand the diverse nature of a market. For example, a market may have large range of consumers who have different tastes, preference and needs. So this is where the concept of segmentation will be applied. Segmentation is defined as the identification of individuals or organisations with similar characteristics that have significant implications for the determination of marketing strategy . To break this down,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Target marketing An important part of marketing is selecting the market you want to enter to provide your products or services. So once you have successfully used market segmentation to divide your market into reasonable consumer segments, you then need to use targeting to choose the market you are going to serve. Choosing a market to serve is an extremely important decision a business will need to make, because a bad decision at this stage could result in failure. To help make the right decision, a company should use criteria to evaluate a market, for example: * Effective * Measurable * Accessible * Actionable * Profitable (foot note) Another method of evolution would be the SMART objectives method: * Specific * Measurable * Achievable * Realistic * Time scaled Either way, an organisation should evaluate their potential market before entering them. There have been cases where businesses have entered markets and failed, because they did not evaluate effectively. In 2003, Burger King introduced a new line of chicken sandwiches aimed at appealing to a more health conscious demographic (the BK Baguette Sandwiches). The product never caught on in the U.S. and was quickly replaced with the TenderGrill Sandwich . It s evident that of a failing product and more importantly evidence of poor marketing strategy. If burger king used targeting properly, the product may have been more
  • 3. Graphic Design Portfolio Our Graphic Design Portfolio is meant to not only help myself but other people who are looking at my skill set. In order to show this, the project must contain artwork from each Adobe program such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and Animate. Photoshop can either show our abilities in editing photographs, how we can create gifs or simply how we can use it to draw. Illustrator is mostly about vector drawings and shows how we can use it to create 3D images or simple logo designs. Indesign will show how well we can format, through creating simple menus or as complex as creating magazines. Animate, on the other hand, will show how we can also create moving images, short animations and can also be used to create gifs. Each piece of work will reflect my artistic abilities, creativeness, art style as well as my strengths and weaknesses in each program. Through this information employers, colleges and other companies will be able to see where I am, skill wise, and what I am capable of creating, and overall seeing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not something we have used before, since Web Design is not our major, but over time of messing around with it, I was able to use it correctly and found many other uses as well. Also finding the appropriate artwork was hard because I personally lost a lot of my artwork over the years and my selection was minimized to only my senior work and some work that was saved from the previous years. Selecting the artwork was crucial because it had to be enough to show my skills, a lot of the work I choose where past contests that we worked on, and very little of it was work I independently worked on. However, I wanted to add as much artwork as possible, so I began to work on independent projects to enhance it. A lot of work was added to the aesthetic, to not only make my portfolio look nice to the viewer, but for it to be unique and stand
  • 4. Pros And Cons Of Ban Plastic Bags Perhaps one of the most commonly questions in the past, is now rarely heard by consumers. Four out of five grocery bags in the US are now plastic (Reusablebags.com). However, the answer should not be merely plastic, the real answer is neither. Plastic bags are very harmful for the environment, and paper bags even more so. The best alternative is a reusable bag, which can save thousands of plastic bags over its lifetime. Plastic bags are everywhere. We see them anywhere from the town grocery market to the convenience store down the street. Admittedly, plastic bags are very convenient. They are a cheap, hygienic way to transport one s purchases. However, once they get home, there is not much use for the piece of plastic. Sure, some reuse them... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the population would not be using plastic bags, they would be using paper. As we can see, paper bags are even worse for the environment than the plastic ones. Also, the ban on plastic bags will not cause people to start using reusable bags; it may actually cause a shift of the production to other use and toss bags (Reusablebags.com). The ban on the plastic bags had not worked out for places nearly as well as the PlasTax. Ireland, for example, imposed the PlasTax, which is a tax on plastic bags. However, there are some exemptions to the tax, which include heavier weight reusable plastic bags; bags used for meat, fish, or poultry; bags for unpackaged produce, ice, or other foods without packaging (Reusablebags.com). The PlasTax worked so incredibly well, that plastic bag consumption was reduced by a whopping 90 percent, and approximately one billion fewer plastic bags were used. The amount of litter was dramatically reduced, and eighteen million liters of oil were saved. Several other countries and cities around the world are now considering implementing a similar tax, including UK, Australia and New York City
  • 5. Abortion Did Not Lower Crime Rate Ever since Freakonomics was published, and sold, which it sold very well to be honest, there has been many debates about one theory that Steven D. Levitt used to explain why the crime rate dropped in the 1990 s. That theory is that the Supreme Court case of Roe V Wade, which legalized abortion in all fifty states. Steven Levitt stated in Freakonomics that the legalization of abortion had the biggest percentage of why the crime rate went down. Yet, I would like to question this theory myself. One big controversy that I have with this theory is that Mr. Levitt did not put in to factor the crack issues that were occurring during the time. The 1990 s was the biggest boom for the crack industry, becoming the major reason of why people were committing homicide during the decade. So how does one truly know if those fetuses that were aborted would have joined the crack fiasco (http://online.wsj.com /public/article/SB113314261192407815 HLjarwtM95Erz45QPP0pDWul8rc_20061127.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top). Another issue that I have with this abortion theory is that it is being conducted as a total, complete whole of all people in the United States. In the 1970 s non white females were at their peak of abortions. One would expect that the crime rate should be the lowest then in the 1990 s for non whites, but in the years of 1993 and 1994 homicide was at its peak for young black male adults. Even though the statistics prove this to be true, Levitt and his partner of this theory, John

Automation is a device that allows the creation of data automatically without the intervention of a person (except when setting up). Here is another goal that could be achieved: track and send educational content to your prospects if they buy or contact you. Each customer experiences a different situation, which deserves a tailor made response, however, that is impossible to deliver manually when you reach a certain volume. Your automation scenarios can, therefore, be as simple or as complex as you want. Indeed, there are also automatic emails such as cross selling, last chance to order, reactivation, etc. The perfect example is Amazon which targets its emailing campaigns (and on its site) according to the profile of his contacts and according to their purchases with similar products. Another side of email marketing automation that is often put forward is the time of the employees you can save (much like a chatbot). These automated emails will bring real added value as part of the customer relationship, not to mention the impact on campaign performance. It is, of course, essential to use this information responsibly in order to meet their needs and desires. With marketing automation, you can communicate messages that respond automatically to every moment the customer experiences as they relate to the business . Tips for Email Marketing Strategies 1. • 12. The Story Behind The War The Story Behind the War By Tiana Thibeault Traditionally, students have been taught that differences between northern and southern economies caused the Civil War. The industrial revolution in the North, during the first few decades of the 19th century, brought about an economy that revolved around a machine age which relied on wage laborers, not slaves. At the same time, the warmer Southern states continued to rely on slaves for their farming economy and cotton production. Southerners made huge profits from cotton and slaves and fought a war to maintain them. Northerners did not need slaves to establish or maintain their economy and fought a war to free them. Everything else, we are led to believe, was tied to that economic difference that was focused on cotton. The economy which was tied to agriculture was certainly one cause of the Civil War, but not the only one. Wars are never simple and neither are their causes. Research shows there are other factors that helped bring about the war which are central to a deeper understanding of America s past. So what did start the Civil War a war that divided the nation, destroyed crops, cities, and railroad lines, and claimed 630,000 lives? Many factors threw the nation into chaos in 1861. Key political issues at the time include the slow destruction of the Whig Party, the founding of the Republican Party, and, most important, the election of Abraham Lincoln as president in 1860. Religious opponents to slavery increased in number

Tickets are purchased at official prices set by ticketing agents (P), and then sold at higher prices, to those who are willing to buy it (Ps). Therefore, profits drive scalpers to initiate such activities, which leads to excess demand, and ultimately not allowing the market to clear. When tickets (the official fixed amount, therefore having perfectly inelastic supply) is sold out, there is a shortage and excess demand is present, as Qd is more than Qs. I had heard many interesting stories of animal lives and how hard they had to fight in the wildlife to survive. The zoo, in my eyes, was a wonderful place where animals were rescued and taken care of. It was much more interesting when I figured out animals could do several things like monkeys could drive bicycles, and dolphins could dance in the water. However, with the reveal of media, the zoo also has the other aspect that is not as wonderful as I thought. Monkeys were not born to entertain us on bicycles, and dolphins do not naturally dance in the water. They all have to go through a severe process of training to do tricks and entertain for human. The zoo has many positive effects on both human and animal, but it also go along with several negative consequences. While many zoos are a valuable source for public studying and revenue for wildlife conservation, they also could take away animal freedom, and torture them for commercial uses and entertainment. Although the poems are similar in form and their uses of metaphors, the focus of these poems are different, I dwell in Possibility focuses on the limitless possibilities of poetry and the power associated with it, while They shut me up in Prose discusses the role of a female poet being free of social restraints in a mans world through poetry, together these individual themes convey Dickinson s emphatic view of poetry s ability to free women from social prejudices. In I dwell in Possibility Emily Dickenson compares poetry to prose in the first few lines. Prose is written in the normal syntax of everyday conversation. It has no metrical structure, as well; it is tedious and lacks expression. After the first two lines however, prose is not mentioned any further. This could possibly be because there is not much left to desired in prose or Dickinson is refraining from giving prose any further recognition. To Dickinson, poetry is limitless in possibilities, which she
  • 29. Pros And Cons Of Cruel And Unusual Punishment The eighth amendment states that cruel and unusual punishment can not be inflicted upon anyone. Although the eighth amendment does state that cruel and unusual punishment can not be enforced the eighth amendment does not state what cruel and unusual punishment actually should include. It is hard to decide what punishments should be identified as cruel and unusual. I believe that there should not be any terrible punishment that is pushed too far to handle although that is my stand I also believe that some things have an excuse to enforce a cruel and unusual punishment. Is death penalty cruel and unusual or should it be enforced on certain people is a question that is commonly asked. Some people can do the unthinkable crimes such as killing someone or even multiple people something that you believe could never happen or maybe should never happen. Or maybe something you think there should even be the possibility for it to happen. Or maybe they raped or molested someone, or maybe hurt a kid or teenager. I personally do not want people that can do this with no regret or thought to be able to be in my life or even my world. I believe that there are certain cutoffs on who should get the death penalty and who should not get the death penalty. People who killed another human being or hurt a child in any severe way deserves the death penalty. If that child or person does not have the right to live or even live a normal life anymore then the person who did it should not have the right to live a normal life or even a life at all. Someone who rob someone or even robs a bank or stole something from a store should be locked up or put in prison. I believe that walking a certain great amount or being forced to do hours of laborious work is cruel and unusual but having a prison job and cold showers are not. Anyone who is in a prison is most likely in there for a reason. The reason being they broke a law of some sort. Or that person did something that they knew would end them up in jail and still decided to do it anyways. If you can not stop yourself from doing something that is harmful to yourself or others then you get to spend some time working like everyone else does on a daily basis. Another common question asked is

From the time Arthur Miller began writing plays, till his recent death in 2005, he had never had such a well know play as Death of a Salesman. This play was first performed in the late 1940 s. It reveals the struggle of an old, worn out, salesman who is upset with the life that he has created. With the strain of his past mistakes lurking in the back of his mind, Willy cannot handle the stress and begins to have hallucinations of the past about the things he could have changed. 1.)Towards the end of Willy s life he is beginning to realizing all the destruction not only of himself, but of his family, marriage, and job. No one made that decision of cheating other than Willy; he can t blame it on anyone but himself. Making that decision impacted Willy for the rest of his life. Every time he left he was so vulnerable for wrongful choices. Another big reason I believed that lead Willy to have destruction was that he relied too much on his children. He expected something more than they could give him. Both of his children knew they couldn t give their dad what he wanted, which ruined their relationship. 2.) As the play ended the state of Willy and his mindset began to change. He started to relies the type of life he had lived and the type he wanted to live. Early in his life he imagined of becoming a successful business man. Don t say? Tell you a secret boy. Don t breathe it to a soul. Someday I ll have my own business and I ll never have to leave home anymore (23). One who would not have to travel, have his own office, and own a really nice suit. He foreseen all the connections he would have with others in the business world and how they would all remember him from the success he would have. But that idea was far from reality. No one remembered Willy in the business world he was just another travelling worker, no big shot, someone who was soon to retire. As Willy thought about this more all he could hope for was the success of the two good looking boys he had raised, in hope that they would be the next big thing. But
  • 31. Humanism In Frankenstein Frankenstein: The First Work of Science Fiction? A Science Fiction story is a story with a human problem, and a human solution, that would not have happened at all without its scientific content. This quote from late Science Fiction author Theodore Sturgeon defines the genre of Science Fiction as a story that contains a real conflict and solution that are ultimately derived from a scientific context. Frankensteinis a classic work of literature for being both a thrilling, gothic horror and a morality tale that examines the advancing world of science. Because of the way Shelley applies science and its concepts the story, her novelis often considered the first piece of Science Fiction. Frankenstein follows Sturgeon s definition, but upon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shelley s entire story is a social commentary on the alluded science, the science that is both Victor s greatest accomplishment and his downfall. Victor Frankenstein, at a young age, having just the scientific training of his books and professors, manages something that was seemingly impossible. By having Victor restore life to a mismatched array of body parts, Shelley exemplifies the rapid, unprecedented advancements of technology. As the story goes on, readers see the downfall of Victor at the fault of his creation. He even notices his mental deterioration while he is just making the original creature, when he remarks, Sometimes I grew alarmed at the wreck I perceived that I had become; the energy of my purpose alone sustained me, (Shelley 57). This way, Shelley shows that rapid scientific advancement can be a bad thing. She conveys the message that venturing quickly into something unknown can have deadly consequences. It s a morality tale that goes to the heart of the purpose of technology, remarks Michio Kaku in Prophets of Science Fiction. Shelley s commentary displays the immorality of Victor s use of technology, and in this she is remarking on non fictional scientists as well. Though her commentary is initially powerful, her argument becomes blurred when Victor reencounters the monster. At this point, Shelley reveals that, despite the fact that he killed Victor s younger brother, he had a good reason. Shelley s writing portrays the monster as a heart felt being in need of companionship, which confuses the point she made. Did Victor create a good creature, one that could learn and be beneficial to society if managed properly? Readers cannot tell, nor can they tell what Shelley had intended. She dilutes her original critique of scientific advancement, making Frankenstein a poor example of Science

This essay is on tact, professionalism, respect and disrespect, as part of my corrective action for disrespecting higher ranking military personal. I will start this essay off with defining each of the subjects so that the reader may have a full understanding on what each mean. Tact is the first subject on which I am suppose to include in this essay, tact is defined as a keen sense of what to say or do to avoid giving offense; skill in dealing with difficult or delicate situations. The second definition needed for this essay is on professionalism; professionalism is defined as professional character, spirit, or methods. Given that there are three main points to that definition, character is the key phrase to take from that definition for it pertains more to this essay then spirit or methods. The third definition needed is on respect, and the most suited definition for respect as it pertains to this essay is, deference to a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to have certain rights or privileges; proper acceptance or courtesy; acknowledgment. With the definition of respect given, the last and most important definition is disrespect. Disrespect is defined as to regard or treat without respect; regard or treat with contempt or rudeness. Tact in my opinion is the way you handle yourself in situations that you do not agree with or support. In the military you will face many situations that you may not understand or agree with and the
  • 33. Parable Of The Lost Sheep How is Luke s claim on the repentance of sinners in the Parable of the Lost Sheep being illustrated by the differences in detail found, in comparison to the Gospels of Matthew and Thomas? The Parable of the Lost Sheep is one of the many parables Jesus gave during his lifetime. It is found in the two canonical gospels: Matthew 18:10 14 and Luke 15:3 10. It is also found in the non canonical gospel of Thomas 107. It is about a shepherd who leaves his flock of ninety nine sheep behind to go look for the one sheep that is lost. This context is similar in all of the three Gospels. However, although there are similarities, there are also differences. These differences have an implication for the message grasped by the readers. The focus will be on the repentance of sinners claimed in the Gospel of Luke and how it differs from the messages found in the other two Gospels. I will do this by analyzing the effect of the differences in language, symbolic representation, the location of the parable, audience, and the context in which it is written, found in these three Gospels. In terms of symbolic presentation, Luke uses the word sinners to compare them to the sheep as seen in verse 7, ...one sinner who repents... Jesus is giving a reason why he is friends of tax collectors and sinners. This is because they are like the sheep, lost and need saving through repentance. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus uses the words little ones . Jesus uses these words after giving a lesson about

I Bob wants to send a message to Alice, Bob uses Alice s public key to encrypt the message and then send that encrypted message to Alice. Alice uses her private key to decrypt the message. Here how does Bob know the Public Keyof Alice? Alice might have distributed its Public key through a secure communication channel. This method is applicable only if there is trust/familiarity between both Bob and Alice. If Bob and Alice does not know each other this whole method fails.[28] This drawback is removed by using a trusted third party (TTP) to uniquely bind public keys to users or another entity such as an organization. This is the place we require a PKI (Public Key Infrastructure). A PKI has one more trusted elements called Certification Authorities (CAs). For instance, Erin is a CA. CA issues Alice a certificate (which contains the public key of Alice) signed by the CA s public key after checking Alice s credentials. Bob can now recover Alice s certificate and confirm it is authentic by checking the signature on it. Certificates may should be revoked later because of different reasons. For instance, if Alice s private key is stolen, she will need to request that the CA deny its certificate. How does Bob know whether a certificate is revoked? The CA keeps up a revocation list which permits Bob to confirm if a given certificate is revoked or not. The

The Steady Decline of Salmon Populations From the San Francisco Bay to streams and rivers of Oregon, salmon populations have been steadily decreasing over the past two decades but more rapidly within recent years. In general, fish populations in the Pacific Northwest region have always fluctuated, but the overall trend continues on a downward slope to extinction. While natural phenomena such as flooding and predators of the food chain do affect salmon populations, human activity poses the greatest threat by far. The four main reasons of salmon plummeting are as followed: Harvest, Hatcheries, Hydropower, and Habitat. It s clear that water ecosystems and management of human activity threaten salmon as a whole. Whether it s a bay, river or stream whatever body of water that contains salmon should be subject to ethics that guide our actions as a part of achieving a better overall environment. Salmon have a truly incredible life cycle. Like all fish, salmon spawn from female eggs and then go on to develop into alevin, which is a term for newly hatched fish. First off, they derive nourishment from the yolk sac from where the salmon are born. Once the sac has been absorbed, the fry, or baby fish, then emerges from the river gravel and starts the search for food. Fry instinctively deal with the river currents and learn to swim together as a school right away. Henchard passes and his daughter takes his will, only to read that Elizabeth Jane Farfrae be not told of my death, or made to grieve. (242) Hardy s use of diction here is important because Henchard says Elizabeth Jane Farfrae which implies that he has learned to put his past rivalry with Farfrae aside and accept their love. He also feels that he has caused enough pain in her life that she does not deserve any more. He s somewhat guilty for all the things he has put her through. The will continues to say that no man remembers me. and Hardy s use of tone signifies that Henchard s not doing this for pity, he s true in his words (242). This is a huge change in Henchard s character because, previously, all he wanted was to be accepted and thought highly of by everyone, and now he asks that no one remembers him. After reading her father s will, Elizabeth Jane comes to the realization that he has truly had a change of heart and that the man who wrote them [the words on the will] meant what he said. (243). Elizabeth Jane s tone in this sentence suggest that she forgives him for all the pain he has caused her, and she s willing to move forward. Through Henchard s acceptance of her marriage, he s truly a different person, because before, he would have only thought of how the situation applied to him but now he s finally thinking of other people. There are three basic topologies with several typical variations, or combinations. A description of four topologies follows. Mesh Topology Mesh topology is the first topology discussed. All computers have the same amount of access to the rest of the network. Disadvantages to the ring topology are, failure of the network if one computer fails, isolating problems with the network is difficult, and the addition or subtraction of computers to or from the network causes disruption in the network. Star Topology The star topology consists of one central switch, hub, or router to transmit messages. The computer will send a signal to the hub, which receives and then retransmits the message to all the other computers or devices attached to the hub. Good performance is an advantage to using the star topology. Stock Split EFFECTS OF STOCK SPLIT Introduction The purpose of this research paper is information retrieval regarding stock split practice in a modern stock market, its major reasons and valuation effects on the company s financial position. According to the definition stock split is a method commonly used to lower the market price of a firm s stock by increasing the number of shares belonging to each shareholder. Companies are able to split their stocks in any number of ways. The most common stock splits are, 2 for 1, 3 for 2 and 3 for 1. For example, if you own 100 shares of a company that trades at $100 a share and it declares a 2 for 1 stock split, you will own a total of 200 shares at $50 a share after the split. These stocks are designed for very wealthy investors. As we can see from Figure 1, through one year the price of Berkshire Hathaway s shares increase for approximately 48,000 per share. Figure 1. For example, a stock trading at $1 that is reverse split 1 for 5 should rise to $5 while the company s market value and underlying fundamentals are unchanged. Investors own fewer shares, but their value stays the same. So, it really depends on the substance of the stock behind the stock. And it is right that most reverse splits turn out badly. Most times, a reverse split is done because the shares have fallen down into the penny stock category (below $5 per share) that threatens their ability to remain listed on an exchange.
