Funeral Of The Roman Empire
Funerals in Ancient Rome were as they are in most modern cultures, important. Those of nobles and
aristocrats were particularly lavish and attended by many. Generally, Roman funerals consisted of the
procession, cremation or burial and eulogy. Julius Caesar, dictator during the first century of the
Rome, whose actions lead to the fall of the Roman Republic and in turn, the rise of the Roman
Empire. Plutarch, a Greek historian, wrote about Caesar and noted that one of his first inclination that
the people of Rome saw him as a fit leader, was during a funeral. as nephew of Julia the deceased wife
of Marius, he pronounced a splendid encomium upon her in the forum, and in her funeral procession
ventured to display images of Marius, which were then seen for the first time since the administration
of Sulla, because Marius and his friends had been pronounced public enemies. When, namely, some
cried out against Caesar for this procedure, the people answered them with loud shouts, received
Caesar with applause, and admired him for bringing back after so long a time, as it were from Hades,
the honours of Marius into the city.
Caesar performed a eulogy for his deceased aunt during a time when women didn t receive eulogies,
only men. Funerals in ancient Rome were ostentatious and over the top, they are also where Caesar
gained followers.
Proper burial was essential to Romans to ensure malicious spirits did not rise from the underworld.
The first part of the average funeral was the

The Importance Of Fragmentation In The Black Community
This Open Letter is written to address several positions that remain a source of fragmentation within
the black community, in spite having many monumental successes in industries, continues to lag
behind in education, economic development and being in a position to strategically expand its family
base from a construct of advancement, in lieu of having to depend upon subsidies or being completely
left out of any progressive developments.
As a black civil rights leader, and minister myself, I have appealed to you and your office, National
Black Action Network, to initiate a constructive dialogue by which our people could garner effective
strategies to position and empower themselves for global success; to be a positive force to create and

The dichotomy that exists among blacks in America is a gaping hole too many have left their fate to
politicians and other media personalities to bridge the gap in their personal lives, and have gotten
nothing in return for investing that trust. Which brings me to this point: I don t understand your
position as a Civil Rights Leader if, and when, the most vulnerable in our society cannot get adequate
representation to at least explore what discrepancies exist, and second, to demand a resolution from
those that induced the problem.
You were in Washington, D.C. in late February 2017 during the same time my organization, CAAP
(Coalition of African American Pastors) was meeting at the National Press Club, and I made several
attempts through our media relations department to speak briefly with you to explore a roundtable to
address the visible fallout among young blacks in America. Without question, I value and do
understand you have a busy schedule like I do. I know you were leading a social justice MARCH
during this time, however, what I find alarming is the lack of response from your office to reconsider
having a meeting in the future. Where we could schedule a time convenient for both to initiate a

Energy Commission Information ( Eia ) Essay
The United States is the largest economy in the world. According to the World Bank its GDP is
approximately 16.8 trillion as of 2013. As the U.S. grows in population, so does the demand of goods.
Is the country heading towards greater prosperity or towards a dismal hole? Is the United States
practicing weak or strong sustainability and should we be worried about running out of non renewable
resources?
We all know what non renewable resources are economic values that cannot be replaced within a
reasonable time frame. According to the U.S. energy commission Information (EIA) Administration
the United States consumed approximately 6.89 billion barrels of petroleum in 2013. Now, 6.89
billion barrels of petroleum may seem like an overwhelming amount of oil, but according to the EIA
we should have enough oil to meet demands for the next 25 years. The EIA predicts that the demand
for non renewable resources will be met for at least 25 more years, but what happens after that? Some
people would argue that the U.S. has been sustained up to this point in time however others would say
the contrary. So, first I would like to define my interpretation sustainability as, being able to meet
today s demand, without compromising tomorrows . Under this definition I believe that the U.S. has
been sustainable up to this point in time. Although non renewable resources have been utilized, new
discoveries are still happening.
The track record of finding non renewable resources has fared

The Importance Of Transformational Leadership
A leader is an important aspect to have in nursing. Many times a manager and a leader are used
interchangeably but in fact there is a big difference between a manager and a leader. A manager has an
allocated position and has power over decisions as well as having specific responsibilities to carry out.
A leader might not have official power but the capability to inspire others and anyone can display
leadership skills. A nurse manager can be more effective if they have well rounded leadership qualities
which include motivation, accepting input from others, commitment to excellence, passion about their
work, clear vision, trustworthiness, respectfulness, accessibility, empathy, commitment to coaching
and developing their staff. Both managers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Positive inspiration has a progressive effect on staff nurses by uplifting the environment. This greatly
effects job satisfaction. Creating such a team is a very important nurse leader task that can drastically
impact staff self esteem, efficiency and staff preservation as well as improve patient care, quality and
safety. Clinical nurses and unit managers should foster a team approach that encourages shared
governance, ownership of practice, and the expression of ideas and opinions in unit councils and
committees (Linnen and Rowley, 2014). Nursing must have involvement and leadership from the staff.
Over time, lack of engagement from the team ends in decreased quality of care and staff turnover.
More emphasis should be seen on empowerment and work atmosphere suggestions. This greatly
influences staff retention. No team can deliver the best possible care for patients when morale is low,
nurses are burned out, and their voices and concerns are largely being ignored (Linnen and Rowley,

Current Trends And New Trends
Trend is a synonym of innovation and change, and by applying these concepts, new opportunism
might arise, as well as new challenges. However, this is expected, especially in the scientific world
and medical field. The scientific world is always evolving; scientists will always follow new trends in
order to improve what already has been stablished. Some of these trends can be helpful because they
might be facilitating and assisting scientists to get a more accurate and better result. Specially, the
need for new trends in the healthcare field are vital to enhance the quality of care provided, some of
the most popular trends in 2017 that are emerging in clinical settings are, for example, the cost of
drugs, Obamacare interruption, Medicaid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, without a doubt The Affordable Care Act or commonly known as Obamacare is
one of the most trending topics that has a great impact on not just the clinical portion of the healthcare
field, but also management. Obama care tries to increase the quality, availability, and affordability of
private and public health insurance to over 44 million uninsured (An Independent Site for ACA
Advice,2017). In other words, Obamacare tries to enable everyone to have the same degree of care
disregardless their income or insurance company. Unfortunately, Obamacare is about to collapse due
to the multiple efforts made by elected President Donald Trump. Trump has questioned the
effectiveness and benefits of Obamacare to the public. Trump states that due to Obama care a lot
insurances company are disappearing due the fact that they are not receiving/making enough. For
instances, Obamacare affects the management and clinical setting by doctors complaining about not
getting payed enough; which makes some doctors bias about the patients they want to see. However,
Obamacare can be most beneficial to low income people that cannot afford healthcare; Obamacare
tries to incorporate and promote equality in the health care field and among insurance companies.
Another trend that has been one of the

Analysis Of I Feel Rosenberg
I feel Rosenberg has done an extremely thorough job in presenting his case and disproving his
constructed opposition, but as with any writing: it is not perfect, problems are not unilateral, and
analysis will always contain some of the author s biases. The social change someone sees is dependent
on how and what they consider social progress. I think this book and the type of critical thinking it
both employes and inspires is necessary to the study of law and society, but it is certainly not the last
book that needs to be written on the subject. I see this book as at the least being part of the
groundwork for the study of modern American law, and maybe even broadening the confines of what
is seen as productive for generating change in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
10). Rosenberg supports his claims by analyzing specific court decisions, namely Brown v. Board of
Education (1954) and Roe v. Wade (1973). Rosenberg condenses three constraints he sees on judicial
efficacy that are built into the American legal system: the limited nature of constitutional rights, the
lack of judicial independence, and the judiciary s limited enforcement powers (Rosenberg 2008, pg.
35). Following these two major cases and their impact, Rosenberg looks briefly at several other Court
decisions involving women s rights, the environment, and criminal rights. In all of these, he finds that
his middle of the road view seems to best explain the impact of the Court s decisions (Rosenberg
2008, pg. 420). He also argues that in these areas, especially women s rights and environmental issues,
that the reliance on the courts as opposed to political activism may have actually harmed these causes.
In Rosenberg s view these constraints are seldom overcome, and thus courts are generally ineffective
in producing major social change, but he allows for the possibility that these constraints may be
overcome under some conditions. The constraints are overcome when there is ample legal precedent
for change, when there is support for legal change from substantial amount of the political and private
elite, when there is either strong support or weak opposition from the public, and when certain
conditions otherwise support compliance with the judicial

Examples Of Sleep In Macbeth

Macbeth Essay
Luten English
3/9/18
Sleep in Macbeth
In Shakespeare s Macbeth, a single word can connote a range of meanings, including some that are
even contradictory. For example, the word sleep suggests meanings that are nearly opposite: sleep is
associated with innocence and peaceful rest on the one hand, but also nightmares and death on the
other. While the word rarely appears in Acts 3 and 4, where the characters are involved in action, it
appears often in Acts 1, 2 and 5, when characters observe the consequences of their actions. In
Macbeth, the meaning of sleep is shaped not only by the context, but also by the character who speaks
the word or is associated with it. Characters use of the word sleep can provide ... Show more content

The gentlewoman describes to the doctor how she has seen Lady Macbeth, rise from her bed, throw
her nightgown upon her, unlock her closet, take forth paper, fold it, write upon t, read it, afterwards
seal it, and again return to bed; yet all this while in a most fast sleep. (4 9) The doctor then comments,
A great perturbation in nature, to receive at once the benefit of sleep, and do the effects of watching!
(10 12) The doctor is saying that for Lady Macbeth to be both asleep and yet capable of action, is not
natural. As she sleepwalks, Lady Macbeth recalls parts of the events of the murders of Duncan,
Banquo, and Lady Macduff. Her incriminating words are overheard by the Doctor and a gentlewoman.
Later, when Macbeth is putting on his armor, he asks the doctor how his wife is doing, and the doctor
responds that she is not physically sick, but instead troubled with thick coming fancies. (5.3.47) Thus,
her sleepwalking, a form of sleep that allows her no rest, is the result of her overwhelmed and agitated
mental state. Macbeth asks the doctor to cure her mental troubles, but this is beyond the doctor s
practice (5.1.62). At the same time, Lady Macbeth s sleepwalking does not mean that everything she

The Main Key Ideas Of Socrates Concern With The Betterment...
Introduction and Background:
The purpose behind this thesis is to identify the main key ideas of Socrates concern with the
betterment of the Soul. Highlighting the word Psyche as the soul which is immortal or imperishable.
Defining Soul as the main identity of a person, it is what defines a person, his acts and his mindset. He
added that every soul has happiness in it but not all choose to obtain it, not all the Souls take
advantage of it. Those souls that are wise and are truly happy, lead a genuine life containing
happiness. While the inverse, those who are not happy lead a life concerning the material possessions
and involving themselves in materialistic pleasure resulting in to dissatisfaction and ego in their
personalities. This makes these souls corrupt and diseased. Socrates; The Physician of the Soul
believed that people make choices either good or bad, they are unaware of how to choose to live in
happiness and fulfillment.
Socrates believes that betterment of the soul is main concern in philosophy and his core teachings are
the foundation for improvement for us.
Key Ideas or Theory:
In this chapter betterment of soul is further elaborated in the following key points;
Plato was credited with the quote An unexamined life is not worth living . It does, indeed, come from
Plato s Apology. The ideal of the examined life is noble. It sounds unobjectionable: an encouragement

Essay about Digital Home Convergence
Digital Home Convergence
Overview
As technology and entertainment converge inside the home, major players in various industries are
taking different strategies in planning for the future. The concept of the digital home will likely take
one of two forms: a closed wired entertainment network (PVRs, OnDemand) or an open wireless data
network (web, email, VOIP, IPTV). The closed model is already being offered in many homes across
the country, but as technology advances, the open model will become the standard. It is important to
understand how both technology and entertainment are companies are strategizing to control the

Microsoft
Microsoft is taking several approaches to its digital home strategy. The first thing it did was to release
the Media PC Center in 2002. HP was the first to build a PC set top box to run this software. Other
hardware companies have been working to make the box look more like a television companion than a
PC. Microsoft s goal is to train consumers to consider buying a PC set top box when they are
upgrading their entertainment system. The current problem with this strategy is that the boxes are
priced too high ($1900). In addition, Microsoft is going to incur significant pioneering costs in
creating a market for these new entertainment PCs .
In the event that this set top PC does not become the standard, Microsoft is also creating strategic
alliances with other hardware and broadband companies. They are developing software for Comcast
PVRs and LG DVD recorders. They will receive $400M from SBC for the use of Microsoft TV
Internet Protocol Television Edition. Basically, they are placing bets hoping that one system will
standardize. In the words of a marketing manager at Microsoft, There is no one size fits all choice .
Apple
Apple is currently repositioning itself as a media software and consumer electronics company due to
the success of iTunes and the iPod. They were the first company to develop a successful synergy
between consumer electronics and media delivery software. It is not unrealistic to expect some form
of this strategy to

Adipic Acid
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1. HISTORY AND GENERAL INFORMATION ON ADIPIC ACID
1. History on The Production Adipic acid is an important organic chemical raw material. In China, it is
used as raw material in the production of Nylon 6/6 salt, polyurethane, plasticizers, high grade
lubricants and food additives. With the rapid growth of development, the application of adipic acid
keeps expanding. The production of adipic acid is controlled in the hands of multinationals. An
American chemical company (DuPont) is the biggest supplier in the world. On 2004, total capacity of
adipic acid in the world was recorded to be as much as 2.74 million tons and Du Pont alone caters

Currently in Malaysia, it is not producing or manufacturing any adipic acid but they only become the
supplier for the local industries. For this matter, Malaysia should build at least one manufacturer plant
of adipic acid to decrease the import of the adipic acid from other countries. There are not many adipic
acid plants in the world and therefore local manufacturer should grab this opportunity and not just
depending on outside sources. This would make Malaysia one of the largest productions of adipic acid
in the world. 2. General Description Generally, adipic acid has a structure of Carbon 6 straight chain
with two carboxylic acid ( COOH) groups. Due to its long aliphatic chain, it is slightly soluble in
water, alcohol and acetone. Adipic acid can also be called as 1,4 butanedicarboxylic acid, 1,6
hexanedioic acid, adipinic acid, acifloctin, acinetten, octafluorohexanedioic acid as well as
hexanedioic acid. It is expected to have a chemical formula of C6H10O4 and a structural formula of
HOOC(CH2)4COOH with a total molecular weight of 146.14 gmol 1. Figure 1.2 is the structures of

Applications Of Low Power Integrated Intelligent Sensors
Applications of low power integrated intelligent sensors [1 5] has been prolific in recent years, for
instance in environmental observation [8 10], security surveillance [11] and infrastructure
communication [12], and biomedical and healthcare monitoring [6, 7]. In particular, as the baby
boomers enter retirement, medical cost becomes significant. For example, in 2014, health care
accounted for 20% of federal spending in the U.S. []. A major problem in current healthcare systems is
that sensing and processing medical data require significant resources. In order to alleviate this
problem, wearable medical devices are expected to provide automatic monitoring and processing of
physiology signals, and more importantly, identifying abnormal signals and contact medical systems
for help if necessary, as shown in Fig. 1. Although such sensors usually have wireless data
communication capability through body area network, due to limited battery power supply, sending
raw sensed data is usually not an option. This is because that in a wireless sensor, usually radio
communication power is much higher than signal processing power []. Thus, it is expected that the
sensors are capable of providing preprocessing of raw data based on DSP algorithms and just sending
the processed results. Such sensors are called intelligent sensors []. Besides the capability of signal
processing and wireless communication, low power, high accuracy, high reliability, and small
footprint are also listed as

Intersectionality And The Feminist Movement
Ever since Intersectionality was introduced as a component of feminism, the movement has
progressed exponentially. All individuals have many different characteristics and diverse experiences
that influence them as beings. Intersectionality addresses the fact that feminism is not just about
gender, but about society as a whole. The idea is that feminism is there to help all women, but the
issue is privileged women often times don t see that they are ostracizing minorities. Intersectionality is
used as a framework for feminist analysis. It is also needed for the progression of the feminist
movement because it acknowledges all categories that shape lives and proves that women s

Intersectionality theorizes from a position of simultaneity (2012). This means that when thinking
about feminism and feminist movements, society cannot just think of one category but all categories.
For example, throughout history white feminists who advocated for equality among gender, made
movements but neglected the inclusion of women of color. If the concept of intersectionality had
existed during those shifts, women of color would not have been left out and the progression would
not only include white women and women of color, but those with disabilities, transgendered people,

Broken Crown Myth
What to do with a broken crown tooth?
The importance of the teeth is nothing new to be described as these plays an inevitable role in our life.
All of us understand the need and the advantage of having healthy teeth throughout our life. The
dentures and the implants are the excellent examples to teach us the usefulness of the original teeth.
There are several complications that are related with the oral and dental health that tend us to seek the
services from a dentist. The broken crown is one of these complications that require intervention from
the dentists. The crowns are usually found to be intact for lifetime but in some cases, these may
become broken or get chipped due to different reasons. In these conditions, we need to see the dentist
for an appropriate cure.

As discussed earlier the degree of damage of the crown is responsible for the severity of the
symptoms; for example, the broken crown in hard traumatic injury may develop sharp pain while the
chronic decay may be characterized by the hot and cold sensations.
Is there anything I can do to fix it?
This is the biggest mistake that anyone can make after having the broken crown. The dental crowns
are typical implants sort of object that cannot be fitted without expert dental intervention. The ideas
about rubbing some material on the broken crown or filling it with some material may not only
deteriorate the situation but also create further complications.
Should I replace?
It is strongly advised to replace the dental crown to prevent the chances of further damage to the tooth.
The chipped or the cracked tooth may easily get damaged in case of chewing something or due to the
effect of the beverages or the other hard things. It is better to replace the same as early as possible.

Deteriorating Patient Essay
Effective observation of patient is the first crucial phase to identify deteriorating patients and apply
effective measure to care for them (Mandy, Christina David, 2009). Nurse s role is taking care of
patients, supporting, and helping them recovery them from disease or any medical condition they
came with and improving their quality of lives and get, them back to community to function as
normal. However, not always things go efficiently as planned. Nurses work with other multi
disciplinary team to accomplish the goal. A nurse encounter load of temperamental cases therefore
Nurse has immense responsibility for recognizing and rescuing the deteriorating patients. It s a
challenging work, which comes with plenty of clinical experiences and great deal of knowledge. This
can be very overwhelming and intense at time. Not all the nurses are experienced and know how to
handle it. Decision making is very crucial to the time. Partial experience and basic level knowledge
can make it difficult to care for deteriorating patients. Reporting the doctor about any concerns
regarding any changes of the patients can resolve the patients. The lack of communication between
disciplinary teams and the nurses can be a cause for untimely action taken for deteriorating patients.
The verbal information given to the doctor can be irrelevant sometimes. Hence, it s very crucial in a
health setting to recognize the deteriorating patients. In this paper I will be transcribing how can a

interviewee believes or understands the Montessori Method. I am asking this question to see if the
interviewee has a deep understanding about applying Montessori Method to the classroom. I expect
the interviewee says something like: that Montessori Method of teaching that is depended on self
directed activity, hands on learning and cooperative play. In Montessori environment children make
creative choices in their learning, while the teacher prepares the environment and provides age
appropriate activities to support the process. Children work in groups or individually to discover and
explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential. It is a philosophy that
respects the unique of individuality of each child. Dr. Montessori believed in the worthiness, value and
importance of children. It is founded on the belief that children should learn to succeed without
restriction. The interviewee doesn t necessarily have to say exactly the above. She/he could simply
mention about child s freedom to choose work without any interruption or about preparing the

Island Bay Essay
Island bay and Owhiro bay, Wellington to collect data on the species of the rocky shore. This area
showed a clear pattern of the low tide, mid tide, high tide and splash zone. The area had a variety of
rocky shore species which were distributed in a zonation pattern. The two species I have chosen to
investigate are the Cellana radians and the Cellana denticulata. Cellana radians commonly known as
the Golden/radiate limpet has an outer shell that is smooth and very flat and usually has a darker
colour with dark coloured lines. The Cellana radians is found in the lower intertidal zone and the mid
intertidal zone and none in the high tide zone at sirens rocks. The Cellana radians are herbivores and
feed on microalgae. The Cellana denticulata commonly known as the denticulate limpet has an outer
cap shaped shell that tends to have brown lines, this protects their muscular foot, and the Cellana
denticulata is an herbivore feeding on microalgae. It is found in the upper lower intertidal zone, mid
tide zone and very few in the high tide zone at sirens rock. The Cellana denticulata and the Cellana
radians showed that at sirens rocks the community pattern of distribution was zonation. I will also be
investigating the adaptations, tolerance levels for abiotic factors for each species and the biotic factors
such as their interspecific relationship of competition for food and space on the rocky shore surface
relating to their distribution along the rocky shoreline at sirens rocks.

Reflection Paper On Engineering And Medicine
Today s lectures involved those of Mark McCready and Robert Stevenson. Mr. McCready s lesson
was centered around engineering for medicine. Mr. McCready s presentation gave a very broad
overview of the many different ways engineering and medicine are intertwined. Mr. Stevenson s
lecture was about Electrical Engineering, and went into a fair amount of depth on the field that he
specializes in, which is imagery. Both lectures gave a fair amount of information, one on a broad
spectrum of engineering, and another on a specific part of Electrical engineering. Mr. McCready s
presentation outlined how engineering benefits medicine in many ways. He began by talking about
how humans consume oxygen rather than other compounds to function. This is because aerobic
digestion is seventeen times more energetic than anaerobic digestion. We then said that the main
issues for humanity at the time are healthcare, energy, and the environment. Since engineers are
problem solvers, it is natural that engineers are working to advance healthcare and medicine.
Engineers have contributed new devices, better systems, ways to treat things, ways to regenerate
tissue, and increased understanding of diseases to medicine. We then talked about a few engineers
who have contributed a lot to medicine throughout the courses of their careers. Bob Langer, a
professor and researcher for MIT, helped develop skin replacement, as well as tissue engineering for
hearts and livers. Next we talked about Adam Heller from

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets Essay
When people watch or think of their favorite movie, they don t usually sit and analyze the underlying
philosophical themes within them. However, in reality, understanding the philosophical ideas is an
important aspect if someone wants to perceive the movie as a whole. So why do people not catch these
important aspects within their favorite movies? There could be many reasons, but the two most
prominent are that the viewers lack philosophical knowledge or the directors disguise these issues so
well they re almost impossible to notice. One of my favorite films, Harry Potter and the Chamber of
Secrets, contains many hidden philosophical themes I never detected in a multitude of previous
viewings. Although the movie contains multiple philosophical ideas, the most significantly recurring
philosophical theme is that there is strength within a community and in our relationships with others.
Furthermore, it is important to understand that our relationships with others can ultimately determine
our choices.
Before analyzing the severity of this philosophical theme, it is necessary to have a basic understanding
of the overall plot of this movie. The movie begins with the protagonist, Harry Potter, spending a
dreadful summer with his only surviving family, the Dursleys. During a dinner party, Harry is visited
by a house elf, Dobby. When Harry declines Dobby s warning to not return to Hogwarts, he turns the
dinner into a disaster. The enraged Dursley s lock Harry in his

Mongol Empire And The Mongol Tribes Essay
In the first place, the Mongols conveyed a charming pioneer, Genghiz Khan, who joined the Mongol
tribes in a dream of triumph and improvement.
The Mongolian speed, a little and to a significant degree dangerous infantry horse which could move
quickly and run deep divisions. Mongol troops were all stallion mounted and could move quickly.
The Mongol bow was somewhat composite bow which could decisively shoot a jolt more than 200
yards. Merged with the brisk moving steed mounted infantry, the Mongols had an original purpose of
inclination.
Mongol techniques focused on pace and flexibility. If a city promptly surrendered, they were tolerant,
however, if it contradicted, they were savage.
At whatever point critical, the Mongols were ready to co pick required capacity. For example, when
they anticipated that would lay assault to a city, they would rely on upon Chinese assault fashioners to
lay assault to Baghdad. Stood out from the domains they vanquished, they weren t supremacist, they
used people.

The course of action of the Mongol Empire was a direct and troublesome method, beginning with the
unification of the Mongol and Turkic tribes that stayed in the Mongolian steppes. Temüjin (1165

transforming into a nökhör (Amigo or vassal) to Toghril (d. 1203/1204), Khan of the Kereits, the

The direct deposition of Ti64 onto a 410 grade stainless steel base plate resulted in a very fine
microstructure which transitions into a coarser one towards the Ti64 layer, as seen in Figure 1. FeTi
intermetallics are commonly form during traditional fusion welding, as well as diffusion bonding of Ti
based and Fe based alloy [1 5]. Microstructure along the interface seen in the current study was
similar to that obtained by diffusion bonding of micro duplex steel to Ti64 alloy by Orhan et al. [30].
A crack is visible in the figure, which is representative of the entire bonded region. We hypothesize
that cracking occurred due to residual stresses brought about by the differences in thermal properties
between the two materials. Similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bright and dark regions along the NiCr and Ti64 interface observed in the current study were similar
to the interface morphology observed by Kundu et al. Similar unmelted particles in CoCrMo Ti64
compositionally graded structures were also reported by Balla et al. [16] that was also processed via
LENSTM. However, in the current work, these regions are completely spherical as opposed to the
earlier studies where the regions were elongated or needle like. Such difference is hypothesized due to
availability of time for diffusion. Diffusion bonding is carried out for a longer time and hence there is
more diffusion across the interphase where as the LENSTM based solidification is a rapid process.
The bright regions along the interphase observed are intermetallics of Ti64 and NiCr alloys. Based on
the EDS mapping and published literature data [18, 20, 21], possible intermetallic phases are Ni3Ti,
NiTi, Ti2Ni and β Ti. Further investigation is needed to confirm different phase formation in these
layers.
EDS analysis of this sample in Figure 5 reveals that these structures contains more diffused Ni into
Ti64 region than Ti in the NiCr region. From the bonding perspective this is good since it prevents Ti
from diffusing towards the Fe rich region and subsequently prevents the formation of Fe Ti based
intermetallic phase formation that are inherently brittle and mostly responsible for reducing the bond
strength of the joint [2, 3, 5].

Lakers Basketball Franchise
Have you ever wondered where the dominating Lakers basketball franchise first started? Well this

the Lakers and also about the championships that they have won. The now Los Angeles Lakers began
in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1947. During that same year of 1947, the Lakers acquired one of the top
centers in the league at the time, George Mikan ( History para. 1). Before Mikan played for the Lakers
he played for the Chicago Gears where he earned sixty thousand dollars per year, which was the most
of any player at the time (Rainbolt page. 12). George Mikan, a six ten man, played four years of
college basketball at the University of DePaul ( History para. 2). Because his previous team was
terminated due to low attendance at games, he was placed with the Minnesota Lakers ( History para.
3).Surprisingly, George Mikan was the NBA s first superstar by leading the Lakers to five world
championships (Rainbolt page. 10). Growing up, Mikan had poor eyesight and was required to wear
strong glasses while playing basketball (Rainbolt page. 10). However, the Lakers were a decent team
even without the six ten giant. The coach of the team was John Kundla, who also coached at the
University of Minnesota ( History para. 4). In the 1947 season, the Lakers won their division by
thirteen games over the second placed team ( History para. 5). In the 1948 BAA finals, the Lakers

violent acts in their homes or communities, or as victims of abuse, neglect, or personal assault. The
causes of violent behavior in society are complex and interrelated. Among the significant contributors

World War I Was Not Inevitable
World War I was not inevitable, as many historians say. It could have been avoided, and it was a
diplomatically botched negotiation, once said Richard Holbrooke, an American diplomat. Many
people worldwide agree with Mr. Holbrooke, believing WWI to be a waste of human lives. Known for
its ridiculous start, fueled by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, and its huge impact on
numerous countries earned it the title of the Great War. Though many people considered it pointless
and as a war with many negative repercussions, WWI did lead to some positive outcomes, such as its
art. Not only were new movements created, but also new styles of existing forms of art resulted from
the war. Because of the different ways that art developed both on and off of the battlefield during the
Great War, WWI is one of the most influential wars on the development of art in the twentieth century.
Art in World War I was observed in many forms, from photography to art movements on the home
fronts of many countries. What many people did not realize is that art was also used in the war for
battle. Propaganda and camouflage were crucial to the success on the battlefield and they were used
and produced in ways not normally seen in history before. Propaganda had existed before WWI but
was used heavily in this war and was often negatively themed, to promote involvement in a war
against the evil enemy. Complex camouflage of machinery, ships, and uniforms also arose during the
Great War, and this

Atomic Theories During The 1800 s
Atomic Theories
1. John Dalton
John Dalton based his theory on Democritus findings. This was that matter could be divided and split
into several smaller units , eventually forming a tiny particle that couldn t be divided. This particle is
an atom. Democritus and other Ancient Greeks could not support their theory or findings due to the
lack of technology, equipment and understanding of atoms. Dalton had his own concept about the
understanding of atoms, since he couldn t develop or enhance Democritus theory. This was that all
atoms of different elements can be distinguished from each other by the differences in the atoms
weights. He shared his theory with other scientists and researchers during his lecture at the Royal
Institution in 1803. His theory was based around the following key points:
1) Matter is made up of atoms; atoms are inseparable and can t be destroyed.
2) Atoms of a certain element have the same mass and chemical properties.
3) Compounds are formed by a mixture of two or more types of atom.
4) Chemical reactions cause the rearrangement of atoms.
John Dalton used his theory to change adapt the idea of combining chemicals during the 1800 s.
However his ways of finding the weights of atoms was not very accurate. For example, he thought that

The book of Matthew, one of the synoptic Gospels found in the New Testament, is distinctive in its
many features that are not found anywhere else in the Bible. While each synoptic Gospel endeavoured

visitor spending, thus more income and employment possibilities (Department of State and Regional
Development, 2014). Furthermore, events provide a platform for social interaction, which would
ultimately strengthen the Mount Alvernia community. In addition, an anniversary celebration is an
opportunity to market the school as successful and sustainable (Fossler, 2001). Therefore, the function

students and three teaching sisters, as they were unfortunately unrecognised t the previous 50th
anniversary celebrations. A featured Roll Call ensures the third objective will be attained.
Furthermore, goal four is to increase attendance. Hence, the P F recommend the inclusion of a registry

As a final point, objective five is to eliminate neighbourhood disturbance. This can be measured by

Gulliver As A Misanthrope Essay
Misanthropic undercurrents have often been detected in Gulliver s Travels, usually unearthed and
expounded in connection to the fourth book of the travelogue. Through Gulliver, the fourth book
voices vehement misanthropy, with propounding the peaceful life of Houyhnhnms as an ideal model.
Gulliver is the resident misanthrope, detesting corrupted human nature and desiring to live as a
recluse. However, a close reading of the text provides us with a contradicting opinion, that of Swift s.
Though he seems to hate the follies and vices of mankind, he doesn t abandon his fellow humans,

There is a smooth generalisation of mankind, being disappointed with their endeavours and their very
existence. Humans are always ruled by their vices and any public good doesn t even seem remotely
possible. They can t be corrected by any role models even if it be the glorious Houyhnhnms, or by
worthwhile experiences. Gulliver seems to have willingly submitted to the horses and their supposedly
superior Reason . Even his discourse is culturally alien, spoken in the language of Houyhnhnms.
There is an indication of voluntary seclusion by the use of your species to refer to humans. As the
letter indicates, Gulliver seems to have given up any visionary scheme for correcting humankind s
follies and vices. Earlier, he had sought them to mend their natures by his travelogue s voiced morals,
if they were amenable to Reason. He had graciously given them six months to reform, but to no avail.
Humankind seemed to be inherently corrupted, and his ambitious project of reforming Yahoos was
perhaps absurd. Gulliver s hatred for humans, even for his own family is quite evident by the letter s
tenor. Moreover, such vehement misanthropy has to be traced out throughout the four books and how
it culminates in the fourth

The part that the reporters omitted or failed to state was that the Muslim soldiers were praying on a
battlefield in Afghanistan. Common sense of the situation meant that the soldiers had to remain armed
at all times in case of an ambush at any time. This is a clear example of the media s biased and
inaccurate reporting (Martinez 1, Ba Yunus 1).
While talking about soldiers, I would like to talk about another western media s misconception i.e.
Jihad. The ideas of war and violence have become related to the Islamic religion from the media. Jihad
is so often apparent in the news because the media thinks it is Islam s justification for war and
violence. The Quran (Muslim Holy Book) says Fight for the sake of Allah those that fight against you,
but do not attack them first. Allah (God) does not love aggression . A Muslim is permitted to take up
arms only as an act of self defense. A Muslim has the right to defend his life, and his property
(Martinez 1, Hassan 4). They (media) cannot differentiate between a struggle for independence in
Kashmir or Palestine or Lebanon and terrorism in Afghanistan. Mujahid and terrorist mean the same
in their dictionary.
Jihad literally means The struggle in the path of God , or holy war . However, the Western media often
abuses the meaning of jihad by referring to it as a holy war where Muslims unreasonably kill non
believers. But the fact is, is that jihad can

Theme Of Coming Of Age In Catcher In The Rye
The main character of J.D. Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield is only in his
teens, attending High School, yet longs for his early childhood. He can be seen trying to hold onto the
past by acting various ways. The author, meanwhile, uses symbolism to demonstrate the effects of a
loss of innocence, and the effects of coming of age. J.D. Salinger s novel The Catcher in the Rye
shows, through moderately relatable eyes, the changes and realities that we must all accept, and what
we must lose as we all come of age, taking a step into the adult world. Analyzing Holden s character
as for a biography, the reader will likely conclude that he acts no better than a hyperactive child; with
little in the way of understanding the fact that all actions come with consequences. There is what he
likes which seems to be little and what he dislikes which he often proceeds to call phony. His
vocabulary is limited, vernacular simple, phrases repetitious, and he frequently moves to tangents;
Holden acts as a child would. He has held onto what he perceives children doing, saying, thinking, and
has incorporated that into himself. This is not because he has yet to lose his innocence, but because he
feels he must hold on to what he believes he still has so that he may live a happy life. This is best seen
by the reader when Holden divulges into one of his previously mentioned tangents, which often take
on a more somber or aggressive tone towards something in the

Winter reckoning yields. In the quotation above she is expressing the idea that when winter comes the
flowers will no longer be in their full bloom. Again in the fourth stanza the nymph tells the shepherd
that beds of roses and posies will not last in winter. Sir Walter Ralegh uses the nymph to make the
point that spring changes to autumn as youth changes to old age and because of this she will not live
with the shepherd. This conveys the impermanence of nature and by implication the impermanence of
love. In comparison with the shepherd s description it is a more brutal but realistic portrayal of love.
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love is an idealistic poem with fairytale images of country life whilst
Sir Walter Ralegh s poem parodies the style of a love letter. The poems are similar in that they are
connected by a question and answer form. Both poems have similar structures as they both have six
stanzas and rhyming couplets. The rhyming couplets stress the last word of the sentence drawing
attention to them helping the reader to understand the poem.

  • 2. Funeral Of The Roman Empire Funerals in Ancient Rome were as they are in most modern cultures, important. Those of nobles and aristocrats were particularly lavish and attended by many. Generally, Roman funerals consisted of the procession, cremation or burial and eulogy. Julius Caesar, dictator during the first century of the Rome, whose actions lead to the fall of the Roman Republic and in turn, the rise of the Roman Empire. Plutarch, a Greek historian, wrote about Caesar and noted that one of his first inclination that the people of Rome saw him as a fit leader, was during a funeral. as nephew of Julia the deceased wife of Marius, he pronounced a splendid encomium upon her in the forum, and in her funeral procession ventured to display images of Marius, which were then seen for the first time since the administration of Sulla, because Marius and his friends had been pronounced public enemies. When, namely, some cried out against Caesar for this procedure, the people answered them with loud shouts, received Caesar with applause, and admired him for bringing back after so long a time, as it were from Hades, the honours of Marius into the city. Caesar performed a eulogy for his deceased aunt during a time when women didn t receive eulogies, only men. Funerals in ancient Rome were ostentatious and over the top, they are also where Caesar gained followers. Proper burial was essential to Romans to ensure malicious spirits did not rise from the underworld. The first part of the average funeral was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The dichotomy that exists among blacks in America is a gaping hole too many have left their fate to politicians and other media personalities to bridge the gap in their personal lives, and have gotten nothing in return for investing that trust. Which brings me to this point: I don t understand your position as a Civil Rights Leader if, and when, the most vulnerable in our society cannot get adequate representation to at least explore what discrepancies exist, and second, to demand a resolution from those that induced the problem. You were in Washington, D.C. in late February 2017 during the same time my organization, CAAP (Coalition of African American Pastors) was meeting at the National Press Club, and I made several attempts through our media relations department to speak briefly with you to explore a roundtable to address the visible fallout among young blacks in America. Without question, I value and do understand you have a busy schedule like I do. • 4. Energy Commission Information ( Eia ) Essay The United States is the largest economy in the world. According to the World Bank its GDP is approximately 16.8 trillion as of 2013. As the U.S. grows in population, so does the demand of goods. Is the country heading towards greater prosperity or towards a dismal hole? Is the United States practicing weak or strong sustainability and should we be worried about running out of non renewable resources? We all know what non renewable resources are economic values that cannot be replaced within a reasonable time frame. According to the U.S. energy commission Information (EIA) Administration the United States consumed approximately 6.89 billion barrels of petroleum in 2013. Now, 6.89 billion barrels of petroleum may seem like an overwhelming amount of oil, but according to the EIA we should have enough oil to meet demands for the next 25 years. The EIA predicts that the demand for non renewable resources will be met for at least 25 more years, but what happens after that? Some people would argue that the U.S. has been sustained up to this point in time however others would say the contrary. So, first I would like to define my interpretation sustainability as, being able to meet today s demand, without compromising tomorrows . Under this definition I believe that the U.S. has been sustainable up to this point in time. Although non renewable resources have been utilized, new discoveries are still happening. The track record of finding non renewable resources has fared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many times a manager and a leader are used interchangeably but in fact there is a big difference between a manager and a leader. A leader might not have official power but the capability to inspire others and anyone can display leadership skills. Creating such a team is a very important nurse leader task that can drastically impact staff self esteem, efficiency and staff preservation as well as improve patient care, quality and safety. Clinical nurses and unit managers should foster a team approach that encourages shared governance, ownership of practice, and the expression of ideas and opinions in unit councils and committees (Linnen and Rowley, 2014). Nursing must have involvement and leadership from the staff. Over time, lack of engagement from the team ends in decreased quality of care and staff turnover. More emphasis should be seen on empowerment and work atmosphere suggestions. This greatly influences staff retention. Analysis Of I Feel Rosenberg I feel Rosenberg has done an extremely thorough job in presenting his case and disproving his constructed opposition, but as with any writing: it is not perfect, problems are not unilateral, and analysis will always contain some of the author s biases. The social change someone sees is dependent on how and what they consider social progress. I think this book and the type of critical thinking it both employes and inspires is necessary to the study of law and society, but it is certainly not the last book that needs to be written on the subject. Rosenberg condenses three constraints he sees on judicial efficacy that are built into the American legal system: the limited nature of constitutional rights, the lack of judicial independence, and the judiciary s limited enforcement powers (Rosenberg 2008, pg. 35). Following these two major cases and their impact, Rosenberg looks briefly at several other Court decisions involving women s rights, the environment, and criminal rights. In all of these, he finds that his middle of the road view seems to best explain the impact of the Court s decisions (Rosenberg 2008, pg. 420). He also argues that in these areas, especially women s rights and environmental issues, that the reliance on the courts as opposed to political activism may have actually harmed these causes. In Rosenberg s view these constraints are seldom overcome, and thus courts are generally ineffective in producing major social change, but he allows for the possibility that these constraints may be overcome under some conditions. The constraints are overcome when there is ample legal precedent for change, when there is support for legal change from substantial amount of the political and private elite, when there is either strong support or weak opposition from the public, and when certain conditions otherwise support compliance with the judicial ... Examples Of Sleep In Macbeth Matthew Tomlinson Macbeth Essay Luten English 3/9/18 Sleep in Macbeth In Shakespeare s Macbeth, a single word can connote a range of meanings, including some that are even contradictory. For example, the word sleep suggests meanings that are nearly opposite: sleep is associated with innocence and peaceful rest on the one hand, but also nightmares and death on the other. While the word rarely appears in Acts 3 and 4, where the characters are involved in action, it appears often in Acts 1, 2 and 5, when characters observe the consequences of their actions. Essay about Digital Home Convergence Digital Home Convergence Overview As technology and entertainment converge inside the home, major players in various industries are taking different strategies in planning for the future. The concept of the digital home will likely take one of two forms: a closed wired entertainment network (PVRs, OnDemand) or an open wireless data network (web, email, VOIP, IPTV). The closed model is already being offered in many homes across the country, but as technology advances, the open model will become the standard. It is important to understand how both technology and entertainment are companies are strategizing to control the digital home . Microsoft Microsoft is taking several approaches to its digital home strategy. The first thing it did was to release the Media PC Center in 2002. HP was the first to build a PC set top box to run this software. Other hardware companies have been working to make the box look more like a television companion than a PC. Microsoft s goal is to train consumers to consider buying a PC set top box when they are upgrading their entertainment system. The current problem with this strategy is that the boxes are priced too high ($1900). In addition, Microsoft is going to incur significant pioneering costs in creating a market for these new entertainment PCs . In the event that this set top PC does not become the standard, Microsoft is also creating strategic alliances with other hardware and broadband companies. They are developing software for Comcast PVRs and LG DVD recorders. They will receive $400M from SBC for the use of Microsoft TV Internet Protocol Television Edition. • 12. Adipic Acid CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1. HISTORY AND GENERAL INFORMATION ON ADIPIC ACID 1. History on The Production Adipic acid is an important organic chemical raw material. In China, it is used as raw material in the production of Nylon 6/6 salt, polyurethane, plasticizers, high grade lubricants and food additives. With the rapid growth of development, the application of adipic acid keeps expanding. The production of adipic acid is controlled in the hands of multinationals. An American chemical company (DuPont) is the biggest supplier in the world. For this matter, Malaysia should build at least one manufacturer plant of adipic acid to decrease the import of the adipic acid from other countries. There are not many adipic acid plants in the world and therefore local manufacturer should grab this opportunity and not just depending on outside sources. This would make Malaysia one of the largest productions of adipic acid in the world. 2. General Description Generally, adipic acid has a structure of Carbon 6 straight chain with two carboxylic acid ( COOH) groups. Due to its long aliphatic chain, it is slightly soluble in water, alcohol and acetone. Adipic acid can also be called as 1,4 butanedicarboxylic acid, 1,6 hexanedioic acid, adipinic acid, acifloctin, acinetten, octafluorohexanedioic acid as well as hexanedioic acid. It is expected to have a chemical formula of C6H10O4 and a structural formula of HOOC(CH2)4COOH with a total molecular weight of 146.14 gmol 1. • 13. Applications Of Low Power Integrated Intelligent Sensors Applications of low power integrated intelligent sensors [1 5] has been prolific in recent years, for instance in environmental observation [8 10], security surveillance [11] and infrastructure communication [12], and biomedical and healthcare monitoring [6, 7]. In particular, as the baby boomers enter retirement, medical cost becomes significant. For example, in 2014, health care accounted for 20% of federal spending in the U.S. []. A major problem in current healthcare systems is that sensing and processing medical data require significant resources. In order to alleviate this problem, wearable medical devices are expected to provide automatic monitoring and processing of physiology signals, and more importantly, identifying abnormal signals and contact medical systems for help if necessary, as shown in Fig. 1. Although such sensors usually have wireless data communication capability through body area network, due to limited battery power supply, sending raw sensed data is usually not an option. This is because that in a wireless sensor, usually radio communication power is much higher than signal processing power []. Thus, it is expected that the sensors are capable of providing preprocessing of raw data based on DSP algorithms and just sending the processed results. Such sensors are called intelligent sensors []. Besides the capability of signal processing and wireless communication, low power, high accuracy, high reliability, and small footprint are also listed as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both lectures gave a fair amount of information, one on a broad spectrum of engineering, and another on a specific part of Electrical engineering. Mr. McCready s presentation outlined how engineering benefits medicine in many ways. He began by talking about how humans consume oxygen rather than other compounds to function. This is because aerobic digestion is seventeen times more energetic than anaerobic digestion. We then said that the main issues for humanity at the time are healthcare, energy, and the environment. Since engineers are problem solvers, it is natural that engineers are working to advance healthcare and medicine. Engineers have contributed new devices, better systems, ways to treat things, ways to regenerate tissue, and increased understanding of diseases to medicine. There could be many reasons, but the two most prominent are that the viewers lack philosophical knowledge or the directors disguise these issues so well they re almost impossible to notice. One of my favorite films, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, contains many hidden philosophical themes I never detected in a multitude of previous viewings. Although the movie contains multiple philosophical ideas, the most significantly recurring philosophical theme is that there is strength within a community and in our relationships with others. Furthermore, it is important to understand that our relationships with others can ultimately determine our choices. Similar unmelted particles in CoCrMo Ti64 compositionally graded structures were also reported by Balla et al. [16] that was also processed via LENSTM. However, in the current work, these regions are completely spherical as opposed to the earlier studies where the regions were elongated or needle like. Such difference is hypothesized due to availability of time for diffusion. Diffusion bonding is carried out for a longer time and hence there is more diffusion across the interphase where as the LENSTM based solidification is a rapid process. The bright regions along the interphase observed are intermetallics of Ti64 and NiCr alloys. Based on the EDS mapping and published literature data [18, 20, 21], possible intermetallic phases are Ni3Ti, NiTi, Ti2Ni and β Ti. Further investigation is needed to confirm different phase formation in these layers. EDS analysis of this sample in Figure 5 reveals that these structures contains more diffused Ni into Ti64 region than Ti in the NiCr region. From the bonding perspective this is good since it prevents Ti from diffusing towards the Fe rich region and subsequently prevents the formation of Fe Ti based intermetallic phase formation that are inherently brittle and mostly responsible for reducing the bond strength of the joint [2, 3, 5]. ... Democritus and other Ancient Greeks could not support their theory or findings due to the lack of technology, equipment and understanding of atoms. Dalton had his own concept about the understanding of atoms, since he couldn t develop or enhance Democritus theory. This was that all atoms of different elements can be distinguished from each other by the differences in the atoms weights. He shared his theory with other scientists and researchers during his lecture at the Royal Institution in 1803. His theory was based around the following key points: 1) Matter is made up of atoms; atoms are inseparable and can t be destroyed. 2) Atoms of a certain element have the same mass and chemical properties. 3) Compounds are formed by a mixture of two or more types of atom. 4) Chemical reactions cause the rearrangement of atoms. With this in mind, the book of Matthew features a distinctive structure, an emphasis on the Kingdom of Heaven, and a prominent focus on the the apostle Peter. The book of Matthew is also highlighted for the titles which the author ascribes to Jesus such as Immanuel, Son of David, and a New Moses. The distinctive purpose of this title in Matthew, however, is to indicate the final and apocalyptic nature of Jesus in his judgement of the earth. Examples of Jesus referring to himself in this context can be seen in Matthew 24:29 39, as Christ describes the end of days. Since the title, Son of Man separates Jesus from the rest of God s children and positions Him as the final judge at the end of time, Matthew is highlighting the authoritative aspect of Christ s character in giving Christ this ... The Mount Alvernia Parents and Friends Support Network has conducted a survey regarding the scope of the event. It is important the survey feedback dictates the planning of the event to maximise attendance. Therefore, the survey was sent to 43 members of the target market. • 36. Gulliver As A Misanthrope Essay Misanthropic undercurrents have often been detected in Gulliver s Travels, usually unearthed and expounded in connection to the fourth book of the travelogue. Through Gulliver, the fourth book voices vehement misanthropy, with propounding the peaceful life of Houyhnhnms as an ideal model. Gulliver is the resident misanthrope, detesting corrupted human nature and desiring to live as a recluse. However, a close reading of the text provides us with a contradicting opinion, that of Swift s. Though he seems to hate the follies and vices of mankind, he doesn t abandon his fellow humans, rendering their cases hopeless. There is a smooth generalisation of mankind, being disappointed with their endeavours and their very existence. Humans are always ruled by their vices and any public good doesn t even seem remotely possible. They can t be corrected by any role models even if it be the glorious Houyhnhnms, or by worthwhile experiences. Gulliver seems to have willingly submitted to the horses and their supposedly superior Reason . Even his discourse is culturally alien, spoken in the language of Houyhnhnms. There is an indication of voluntary seclusion by the use of your species to refer to humans. As the letter indicates, Gulliver seems to have given up any visionary scheme for correcting humankind s follies and vices. Earlier, he had sought them to mend their natures by his travelogue s voiced morals, if they were amenable to Reason. He had graciously given them six months to reform, but to no avail. Humankind seemed to be inherently corrupted, and his ambitious project of reforming Yahoos was perhaps absurd. Gulliver s hatred for humans, even for his own family is quite evident by the letter s tenor. Moreover, such vehement misanthropy has to be traced out throughout the four books and how it culminates in the fourth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The religion of the suicide bomber was never reported. The very same newspaper (on November 5, 2009), reported that how a Muslim attacker attacked the US Base and killed US army soldiers. The part that the reporters omitted or failed to state was that the Muslim soldiers were praying on a battlefield in Afghanistan. Common sense of the situation meant that the soldiers had to remain armed at all times in case of an ambush at any time. This is a clear example of the media s biased and inaccurate reporting (Martinez 1, Ba Yunus 1). While talking about soldiers, I would like to talk about another western media s misconception i.e. Jihad. The ideas of war and violence have become related to the Islamic religion from the media. Jihad is so often apparent in the news because the media thinks it is Islam s justification for war and violence. The Quran (Muslim Holy Book) says Fight for the sake of Allah those that fight against you, but do not attack them first. Allah (God) does not love aggression . A Muslim is permitted to take up arms only as an act of self defense. A Muslim has the right to defend his life, and his property (Martinez 1, Hassan 4). They (media) cannot differentiate between a struggle for independence in Kashmir or Palestine or Lebanon and terrorism in Afghanistan. Mujahid and terrorist mean the same in their dictionary. Jihad literally means The struggle in the path of God , or holy war . However, the Western media often abuses the meaning of jihad by referring to it as a holy war where Muslims unreasonably kill non believers. But the fact is, is that jihad can ... • 40. Theme Of Coming Of Age In Catcher In The Rye The main character of J.D. Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield is only in his teens, attending High School, yet longs for his early childhood. He can be seen trying to hold onto the past by acting various ways. The author, meanwhile, uses symbolism to demonstrate the effects of a loss of innocence, and the effects of coming of age. J.D. Salinger s novel The Catcher in the Rye shows, through moderately relatable eyes, the changes and realities that we must all accept, and what we must lose as we all come of age, taking a step into the adult world. Analyzing Holden s character as for a biography, the reader will likely conclude that he acts no better than a hyperactive child; with little in the way of understanding the fact that all actions come with consequences. There is what he likes which seems to be little and what he dislikes which he often proceeds to call phony. His vocabulary is limited, vernacular simple, phrases repetitious, and he frequently moves to tangents; Holden acts as a child would. He has held onto what he perceives children doing, saying, thinking, and has incorporated that into himself. This is not because he has yet to lose his innocence, but because he feels he must hold on to what he believes he still has so that he may live a happy life. This is best seen by the reader when Holden divulges into one of his previously mentioned tangents, which often take on a more somber or aggressive tone towards something in the ... The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd: A comparison The Passionate Shepherd to His Love was written by Christopher Marlowe. The poem describes a shepherd s plea to someone he loves urging them to live with him. Marlowe uses imagery to describe the scenery around the shepherd and his love. The shepherd tries to convince her how happy they will be, surrounded by mountain yields and groves in stanza one. However she tries to bring him to his senses and make him realize that things do change and nothing is permanent. The flowers do fade and wanton fields To wayward Winter reckoning yields. In the quotation above she is expressing the idea that when winter comes the flowers will no longer be in their full bloom. Again in the fourth stanza the nymph tells the shepherd that beds of roses and posies will not last in winter. Sir Walter Ralegh uses the nymph to make the point that spring changes to autumn as youth changes to old age and because of this she will not live with the shepherd. This conveys the impermanence of nature and by implication the impermanence of love. In comparison with the shepherd s description it is a more brutal but realistic portrayal of love. The Passionate Shepherd to His Love is an idealistic poem with fairytale images of country life whilst Sir Walter Ralegh s poem parodies the style of a love letter. The poems are similar in that they are connected by a question and answer form. Both poems have similar structures as they both have six stanzas and rhyming couplets. The rhyming couplets stress the last word of the sentence drawing attention to them helping the reader to understand the poem. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
