Essay On Bata India
Targeting the unorganized market
Bata India is one of the market leaders in organized Indian Footwear Market and should move towards
grabbing a potential market share by on tapping the tier III and tier IV markets (smaller towns)
through distributors and franchises. The company has to develop a completely new line of
merchandise to tap the unorganized footwear market, which accounts for almost 60% of the total
market. The company is planning to open new outlets in these areas and has tied up with wholesalers
to sell shoes in rural shops. Bata India has already piloted such Bata stores in smaller markets which
turned out a success. Right investment and the attempt to target the unorganized market will be a step
in the right direction as the market accounts for nearly two third of the USD 35 billion Indian footwear
market. Grabbing a significant market share in this area would have a huge impact on the ... Show

The company is making continuous investments in various marketing plans to re position the brands in
the minds of consumer as international premium lifestyle casual footwear brand in India. Following
the success of these stores in India, the consumers perception for Bata as a mass market brand has
changed, which has enhanced the brand image of Bata India among the young generation. Taking it
forward the company should come up with new innovations in the sports segment in which Bata is
still lagging behind. Sports shoe market in India is estimated to worth USD 5 billion and is expected to
reach USD 13 billion by 2018, growing at 18% CAGR from 2012 through 2016. People are getting
more aware about their well being thereby increasing the market for sports segment in India. So there
is a large market share for the company to tap into by introducing its new models with cutting edge

Why Organizations are Accidents Waiting to Happen in In...
Why do organizations fail? In Patrick O Hara s prologue of his book, Why Law enforcement
Organizations Fail, he talks about how organizations are accidents waiting to happen. O Hara gives
examples of how one of the most well known federal government agencies, the FBI, still has mishaps
in their organization. In Dietrich Dorner s book, The Logic of Failure, he talks about how humans
make decisions and solve problems. Dorner believes the issue with humans solving problems is that
once immediate problems are solved we do not anticipate the new ones that appear. Sam Antar in his

People in organizations are tempted to sabotage the organization due to their ego, self interest and the
incentive of becoming higher in the organization s hierarchy (JJCOB1964, 2012). Furthermore, people
in these organizations can create small groups within the organization that can destroy the
organization (JJCOB1964, 2012). According to O Hara organizations must be quick to stop
environmental challenges (JJCOB1964, 2012). Only a few organizations can keep up with these
challenges and that is another reason why organizations fail (JJCOB1964, 2012). To illuminate, we
can look at Robert Hanssen who betrayed the FBI by giving Russian U.S secrets (O Hara, 2012, p. 5).
Hanssen who was described as an arrogant loner was reported by his FBI agent brother for being a
security risk (O Hara, 2012, p. 5). Despite being reported, Hanssen was able to climb the hierarchy in
the organization, which increased his ability to spy (O Hara, 2012, p. 5). Here we see a slow response
from the FBI to rid the organization of a threat. Although the FBI has many downturns the people of
the United States still heavily supports the organization (O Hara, 2012, p. 6). I believe that
organizations are accidents waiting to happen and I have seen this in a few places that I have worked.
For example, I had a bad experience working at an ice cream polar this past summer. The manager
was a wealthy man who owned the shop and real estate.

The Authoritarian Personality By Erich Fromm Summary
The article, The Authoritarian Personality, written by Erich Fromm discusses the common and
different characteristics between the two forms of an authoritarian personality. He starts to explain
how one becomes a mature person. He states that to become a mature person, said person needs to
have developed love and reason. He then states that an authoritarian character has not reached
maturity, and therefore, has not developed love or reason. Erich Fromm continues to explain that the
difference between the ruler and the ruled is how they start to feel greater. The way the ruled feels
greater is by depending on their ruler for guidance and by following the ruler to become a part of the
larger group. The way the ruler feels greater is by depending on the ruled to continue to look at them
as strong and powerful. He then points out that one person can hold both the ruler and the ruled
characteristics. Erich Fromm continues to explain the differences between rational and irrational
authority and where these two forms of authority are found. He ends by saying that the understanding
of love and reason, and developing said characteristics is the foundation to a person s own authority
and political democracy. While reading this article, it brought me back to all the times I have dealt
with people who have authoritative personalities and how it affected me. As stated by Erich Fromm,
all people with authority personalities contain components of both the ruler and the ruled. To

Native American Artifact
An artifact has been found that pushes the timeline of the arrival of Native Americans in North
Carolina back 4,000 years. Kaisar Porris, 1 Eno Blvd. in rural Orange County, has been a river
scavenger for 45 years. Last March he found a dugout sticking out of the Eno River after a heavy rain.
A dugout is a canoe made out of a hollowed tree trunk. River scavenging is usually used to find items
that can be used or sold for profit; however, Porris was particularly interested in archeology. Porris
contacted Kevin Bystryski, 39, professor of classics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The dugout was taken to UNC Chapel Hill and then moved to the North Carolina Museum of History

Theories of Marx
In this seminar, I seek to analyse, discuss and evaluate the theories of Marx. Firstly, I will analyse the
relationship between human action and social structure. Having completed the analysis, I will move
on further to discuss and exemplify his theory of alienation. Lastly I will evaluate his theory of false
consciousness.
Question 1
Human action and social structure are extremely prevalent in the works of Marx. In terms of the
workers and capitalist classes, he postulates that they are not free but rather actors of the capitalist
system. The workers are forced into labour to make a living, the force of circumstance (Elster,
1986:29) while the capitalist is forced to keep themselves in business. Elster (1986:29) argues that this

He has thus become alienated from normality and has become an appendage of the machine.
In the movie, Daens we see the women and children working on the machines in the factory, not able
to communicate amongst themselves and in the case of the government coming to investigate them,
they weren t able to converse in French as they could only speak Flemish, thus further enforcing the
disconnection factor.
In order to become un alienated and work toward becoming the whole man where everyone is part of
one class, is able to support their family and their every need and has enough free time and is still able
to work as Marx wished in his efforts, the workers would have to take risks to get out of their situation
and keep trying to overthrow capitalism, as in the case of the movie, Daens where we witness them
taking the dead child out on to the streets. This risk however is quickly averted by the capitalists as
they have the means, the money and the knowledge to get their workers back to work. They simply
call in a favour from the local police and then fire all those who marched. The instigator or initial risk
taker (the woman who met Daens) is then punished further with rape as a means of enforcing their
domination over the working class.
Question 3
False consciousness is termed in the context of the work of Marx as a statement of our existence, it is
not our consciousness that determines our existence, but

helps a person begin to understand why people perceive situations differently, communicate different

information gathering and decision making and lastly, the judging/perceiving preference illustrates
how we relate to the outer world – either as a decision maker ( J ) or as an information gatherer ( P )
(pp. 32 38). After completing the introductory and explanatory material the authors take us to practical
applications of Typewatching – in the workplace, and in interpersonal relationships such as
friendship, dating and commitment, and family life between parents and children. The chapter on
workplace Typewatching, titled Typewatching From 9 to 5 , is the lengthiest chapter and the interest in
workplace Typewatching no doubt influenced Kroeger and Thuesen to devote a second book, Type
Talk at Work, solely to Typewatching s influence on workplace dynamics. The authors continue their
discourse on Typewatching with a chapter titled Typewatching Everywhere . Here they briefly discuss
Typewatching in educational environments as practiced by teachers and learners and move to
Typewatching s applications in social settings, one s approach to personal finance, weight gain or loss,

Common Problem Areas
There are a significant number of common problem areas in writing reports in the criminal justice
field, because individuals often submit reports without proofreading and correcting mistakes.
Consequently, it has a negative impact on the overall quality of the report because it can make it
difficult for readers to understand the issues or topics that is being discussed in the report. Thus, it is
an important rule to remember not to submit any written report without proof reading it, including
reports that are simple and straightforward (Miller Whitehead, 2015). As previously stated, one of the
common problem areas is misinterpretation, which stems from difficult reading and understanding the
report. Therefore, it is important to read and

Panic ! At The Disco (P ! ATD)
Panic! At the Disco Panic! At the Disco (P!ATD) is a pop punk rock band that consists of the lead
singer and face of the group, Brendon Urie, and several unnamed/unpopular guitarists and drummers.
The biggest competitor for P!ATD is the other main stream pop punk rock band called Fall Out Boy
(FOB) which consists of Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman, and Andy Hurley. Although P!ATD
and FOB have similar musical styles, the different music videos each group presents, the varying
tunes and lyrics, and disparate stage presence during live concerts, is why I lean toward P!ATD as my
favorite overall band, with FOB falling just behind it. The themes and theatrics behind P!ATD music
videos are superior to FOB music videos. The themes P!ATD choose are deep and meaningful and at a

used in P!ATD songs. Because of the lyrics and tune that P!ATD use, I find myself looking more

Garden Gnome Research Paper
SUMMERTIME HAS ARRIVED, AND ON the cooler days, we can work in our gardens and spruce
up our lawn decorations. For some of us, that means we can fuss over our garden gnomes and other
colorful knick knacks and statues. Mankind has been adorning their gardens with small statuary ever
since antiquity. Historically, many of these early figurines were religious in nature; but, over the
centuries, these garden protectors were embraced by the whimsical world of folklore.
Modern garden gnomes, as we think of them today, first became truly popular in the 1800s in
Germany. By some accounts, these German Gartenzwerge (garden dwarfs) were commercially
produced as early as 1841, and they were viewed as happy, helpful creatures. Appearing in their ever
stylish hats, these German figurines spread across Europe and eventually caught the eye of a well to
do Englishman, Sir Charles Edmund Isham, 10th Baronet. In 1847, Isham purchased twenty one
garden gnomes from Nuremberg and displayed them at his home, Lamport Hall, Northamptonshire.
Only one gnome (named Lampy) survives to this very day, but he was a part of the original crew who
has been credited with starting the garden gnome craze in the UK (and, later, the world). ... Show

Moral Values In Beowulf
Ever since a young age, children have been told stories with a clear moral lesson. These lessons are
used explicitly to show basic principles that a growing mind needs. However, as one ages the morals
become less obvious, but they remain just as influential. Examples of these less direct morals are seen
by young adults in academic analyzation and in their personal and social lives through popular movies
or music. Marvel s Spider Man: Homecoming and Anglo Saxon poem, Beowulf, exist to help readers
understand a variety of moral principles needed to become a respectable citizen and a hero. The
writers of the screenplay and epic portray the main character as a tragic hero to show audience that
one may have the confidence to attempt a task, but they must be reasonable enough when they are not
capable to do so. In the film, Spider Man/Peter Parker takes on crimes that he thinks he is ready for,
but is not trained enough to do so. When he is not able to complete the task, his mistake leads to
almost costing the lives of thousands of people and him losing his suit. (Spider Man: Homecoming).
The screenplay writers use this scene to show how our hero relied on the wrong factors and did not
take in account that he was not ready to complete his goal, representing society s tendency to eagerly
jump at opportunities that they are not yet ready for.
In the epic, Beowulf , the author writes, ... Beowulf rose, still brave, still strong, and with his shield at
his side, and a mail shirt on his breast, strode calmly, confidently, toward the tower... (Lines 511 513).
The author wrote this quote to emphasize to readers how confident Beowulf was upon entering this
battle despite his older age. This event causing his untimely death gives the impression to the audience
that going into a situation unprepared sometimes leads to irreversible outcome. In addition to
encouraging audience members to understand their limits, the two works also show the importance of
asking for help.
The main characters in both plots are given opportunities to achieve their goals by already respected
superiors, proving to the audience that it is okay to require help. In the film, Peter Parker is finally
given his chance to become the hero when billionaire,

2. People should carefully weigh the price that they must pay and Camus is debating the idea of
whether through world war, conflicts will actually be resolved once and for all; that if even after
several generations of sacrifice, they will not come closer to a world society. In The Stranger,
Meursault shows utter indifference to the man he had murdered. He did not consider the possible
consequences before he shot the man, and simply instinctively kills the Arab without much
consideration for what he himself would end up as. Camus explores the idea of existentialism; the role
that man plays, and that he is responsible for his own actions, in the midst of a meaningless and empty
world. From the ideologies expressed in Neither Victim nor Executioner, it seems as though Camus
purposely made Meursault blind towards weighing the price he would have to pay upon murdering the
Arab, and thus places focus on the process of his realization. The war can be thought of as a parallel to
the physical fight that Meursault and the Arab engaged in; the ultimate conflict was not solved through
murder and physical action. Society still remained the way it was, and instead of Meursault changing
the views of society, he was instead forced to submit to it. * Camus wrote for L Express, from 1955

Virtual Body Circulation, Respiration, Breathing
Ventilation is a process in which our body extracts oxygen from the atmosphere and releases carbon
dioxide as a byproduct. Overall, this process exchanges air between our lungs and the atmosphere.
According to Boyle s Law, at a constant temperature, pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to
volume. Therefore, when we breathe in, the chest cavity expands, and the pressure inside the lungs
becomes slightly lower than the atmospheric pressure.
When the muscles relax and the volume of the chest cavity decreases, the air inside the lungs is forced
out. This is the process of expiration .
For normal breathing, 3% of the body s energy is used.

Introduction
Chemical equilibrium is defined as a state in which the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of
the backward reaction [1]. Equilibrium constant, defined as a number that expresses the relationship
between the amounts of products and reactants present at equilibrium in a reversible chemical reaction
at a given temperature [2]. The equilibrium constant, Keq, was found by multiplying the products
concentrations, then dividing it by the equilibrium concentrations product of the reactant. Small Keq
values means that the reaction does not fully go to completion. When looking at a large Keq value, the

The Treaty Of Historic Treaties Essay
Historic treaties continue to be relevant in Canada today because ever since Christopher Columbus
arrived to an undiscovered continent, he managed to employ detrimental consequences to the peoples
of this land. The treaty was one of the colonial processes that would allow for the exploitation of the
First Nations. Many Aboriginal Signatories to treaties understood the treaty agreements as being the
foundation of a relationship with the Crown and that this relationship would be based on co existence
versus the crown, creating them as a surrendering of the land with only small reserve retained, and
limited hunting in those territories. These treaties are important today because they try to go about
who has land claim to a certain area and they show that some treaties were written by the British with
the poorer intentions of the Aboriginals. However, the documents and treaties that the British drafted
and passed would create a paper trail of vast amounts of exploitation. Treaties show prevalence today
because they can demonstrate how complicated the history of Canada s relationships with the
Aboriginal peoples is. One factor that makes this history perplexing is trying to figure out who has
claim to the lands that people stand on. Moreover, when the government was willing to demonstrate
what plans they wanted to employ in order to solve the issue of cohabitation of the aboriginal peoples.

Japanese Geisha Stereotypes
Definition The most common misconception of a female in the geisha occupation is that a geisha is a
prostitute or call girl (Chan, 2001). Geisha are entertainers, these women are vigorously trained in art,

everyone. Different families, schedules, wages, etc. With my host family, I get two days off a week,
any two days that I want. Because I am staying near Orvieto, which is almost in the exact center of
Italy, I can visit almost anywhere that I want. I also got to meet up with other Au Pairs in Italy and
explore the Italian cities together. At the same time I made new friends.
So far, I have been to Rome, Florence, Civita di Bagnoregio, Capalbio, Orbetello, Orvieto, and Porto
Stano Stefano near Monte Argentario. On ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your duties should be very light as an Au Pair, remember, you are there for the kids. You are not a
nanny or housemaid. You can help out with other household duties if you wish, such as cleaning the
lawn and entire house, ironing clothes, etc. but they should not be required of you.
If you are an Au Pair for three months or longer, you need to have a language course that you and your
host family will work together and pay for. However, my language class did not turn out, so now I go
to the library whenever I can. All the other Au Pairs that I met also learn at home. Sometimes it can be
spendy, but there are a couple good ones online for free that I recommend. Duolingo is a great website
and easy to learn from with simple visuals and repetitive exercises.. Memrise is another website where
you can spend five minutes a day, learning a few new words and phrases each day.
This schedule doesn t always happen and changes everyday. Sometimes the family goes somewhere,
and I can come along or opt to stay home. All families are different. My host family for some reason
has a very busy lifestyle with no slow down and relax mode. There is always something going

Comparing Carl Jung s And Isabel Briggs Myers
Personality tests, and more specifically, one that follows Carl Jung s and Isabel Briggs Myers
typological approach, can be another means of exploring the possibility of gaining understanding
about ourselves. In my own assessment, I discovered results that uncovered the reality that the test
does have some merit for consideration and application when it concerns personality delineation. In
conducing the test on myself, I discovered that it deemed me more extraverted (ENFJ) than I assumed,
at least in a self reflective, historical sense. However, this isn t surprising to me because of all the
changes Jesus has brought about in my life. Furthermore, the results also demonstrate that I possess
entrepreneurial ability as well as concern for others.

Analysis Of Travel With Steinbeck
In the novel, Travels With Charley , John Steinbeck goes on a journey across all of America, but what
he inscribed was not just a diary describing the places of which he traveled to, it is a story composed
of smaller stories within the book that he uses to describe what he discovered about American society
along the way. One of the excerpts from Travels With Charley that Steinbeck wrote is describing a
waitress he meets at a small restaurant right outside of Bangor, the financial struggle she is in, and
how there are two different types of people in this world. Also, it describes when Steinbeck wants so
badly to give the waitress a tip, but he doesn t because he believes that she won t take it. I believe the
message that John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is explaining that the waitress he met at the restaurant, after having a conversation with her, is a
depressing and boring human being. Steinbeck figures this out by noticing that she has a tone in her
voice, which he doesn t describe, but she has a tone that we can detect by the dialogue he includes in
this section of the novel. Also, by the context of the conversation. Steinbeck includes that the waitress
was the type of person that puts a cloud over everyone s heads and brings out not the positive, but the
negative in every situation. He however does not explain a particular person that brings exuberance to
a situation and always blocks out the negative. This is because John Steinbeck says that the waitress
gets him. From this we can infer that he is not normally a happy and exciting guy. The text says, I d
been driving a long time, and perhaps my energy was low and my resistance down. She got me... For a
moment I considered giving her a five dollar tip, but I know what would happen. She wouldn t be
glad. She d think I was crazy(pg. 47). Looking at the message that John Steinbeck portrays from a
different angle, we can see that the reason a person is such a Buzzkill or a Debbie Downer is because
they are constantly in a bad situation from a financial perspective or from something else. Such as the
waitress John Steinbeck meets, who is struggling financially

The Abc Sitcom 2 Broke Girls
The CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls has had continuous success ever since it first aired in 2011. What
makes 2 Broke Girls different than many other TV sitcoms is that almost every member of the main
cast has a different rationality, making the show one of the most diverse sitcoms to ever exist. The two
broke girls are named Caroline and Max. Caroline has blonde hair, blue eyes, and a slim figure. She
grew up in a wealthy home, never had to work, and attended college. Caroline lived an upper class
lifestyle until her father was convicted of financial wrongdoings and lost everything. In contrast, Max
has brown hair, brown eyes, and a larger figure and has worked since she was very young. The two
girls are waitresses in a run down diner. In addition, the diner is owned by a very short Asian man
named Han and the cashier is an elderly black man named Earl. The sitcom follows their lives as they
learn how to deal with each other and their lower class lifestyles. Similar to many sitcoms, 2 Broke
Girls takes advantage of the diverse ethnic and racial stereotypes of the characters to make comedic
entertainment. While the comedy in the show does grab the attention of the audience, what also stands
out is the connection of the characters. All of the commonalities that come with living in similar
situations overpower their differences in race and ethnicity. Even though the characters stereotypes
and interactions are constantly being mocked for comedic material, they all have a special bond

Attitude Towards Love in Valentine and The Flea Essay
Through Close Analysis of Language, Structure and Theme, Compare and
Contrast the Poet s Attitude Towards Love in Valentine and The Flea.
The two poems Valentine and The Flea are about the two different ways in which the poets portray
their views about love, however the poems are still linked in a few ways. The Flea was published in
the seventeenth century and was written by John Donne . Valentine was published in 1983 and was
written by Carol Ann Duffy . Both poems are addressed to an unknown lover.
The poem Valentine is written in free verse form. Carol Ann Duffy could have used this irregular
pattern because of the irregular present that she is giving to her lover.

This could be the link between the onion and love that is being developed in the poem. This is also
one of only four cases of enjambment in this poem. The writer obviously wants the lines to flow into
each other here maybe so it is like when tears are flowing down your face.
Duffy then explores the idea of truth behind the relationship, quite the opposite of what John Donne
believes of in his relationship.
I am trying to be truthful.
The writer obviously wants her lover to know the real meaning of love, not his stereotypical view.
Duffy also wants to emphasise the fact of how irregular her present is and it should be thought of.
Not a cute card or kissogram.
She doesn t want him to receive the normal presents off her; she knows that he would just be
expecting that and he wouldn t even think about the meaning of the normal presents. She wants to
shock her lover with her present to make sure that the he understands the meaning of why she is
giving him a present for Valentine s Day to offer a gift to your true love and emphasise how much you
care about them.
Duffy then repeats the first line of her poem again in the middle of the poem. I give you an onion.
She is repeating the line to emphasise the meaning of the present, or it could be to start a different part
of the poem, a different attitude towards love. Then there is a contrast with a line in the first stanza.

Any difference or deviation is frowned upon in the most serious manner. Mrs Lee s comment about
hot water baths is that she cannot clean herself, cannot make a strong suds (page 54), so she pretends

within society is a greater division for Cather; it is a division between those who can only think within
the constraints of the past and the present; there is no evidence of a hunger for progress, only for the
rapid accumulation of wealth (as demonstrated by Lou s eagerness to sell out to Charlie Fuller.)
Randall quotes Cather herself in this: A pioneer should have imagination, should be able to enjoy the

The Role Of Independent Agencies And The White House Staff...
The modern American presidency is defined as the presidency s transition to the center of American
governance. Distinct from typically passive and isolated presidencies during the 18th and 19th
centuries, the modern American presidency of the mid 20th century set the use of power and
popularity as precedence. The transition to the modern presidency can be understood through the
development of the presidency s institutional, international, and perceptual identity. In this essay, I
will argue that the increasing role of independent agencies and the White House staff that spearheaded
executive policymaking led to a significant institutional change to the presidency. I will also argue
America s expanding international function in response to globalization placed the presidency,
responsible for foreign policy, in a newly found position to exercise power. Finally, I will argue that
the public perception of the presidency as a living reality (Reedy, p. 10) shifted it from a peripheral
political entity to one at the center of policy discussion and leadership. In this essay, I will present
examples of the modern presidency in the attributes of administrations from Franklin D. Roosevelt
through John F. Kennedy, as well as evaluate scholarly models that contextualize how attributes of
these administrations shaped the modern presidency, such as John Burke s Institutional Presidency,
Aaron Wildavsky s Two Presidencies, and George Reedy s American Monarchy.

quot; The term Machiavellian refers to someone who is unscrupulous, cunning, cynical, and

dismayed Niccolo Machiavelli, the man from whom the term is derived. In reality he has been
attributed as being one of the brightest lights of the Italian Renaissance through his works as not only
a writer, but also as an influential philosopher of history and political thought. His most famous work

In fact, Machiavelli used various early diplomatic missions as the basis for a short guideline he sent to
the Florentine diplomat of Spain named Raffaelo Girolami. In this letter Machiavelli discussed not
only what he had done but also how he could have improved (Gilbert 1961, 209). This letter was
meant not only as advice for a particular situation but also as a learning aid to apply to all situations.
We see from this and other letters like it that Machiavelli not only learned the theory behind politics
but also continually refined his skill with each new challenge.
Machiavelli demonstrated a great knowledge and insight regarding politics through his writings but
more importantly he displayed a man who went through great effort to pay attention to details.
Nowhere else is this fact more evident than in the advice and instructions that he imparted to less
experienced government officials. His own advice states to ...write to those with whom you do
business so clearly that when they have a letter of yours they may think they are there in such detail it
describes the thing to them (Gilbert 1961, 123). Not only does this apply to his beliefs in
documentation, but also encourages them to pay close attention to details in order to supplement those
writings. This type of statement was far from uncommon, in a large quantity of his letters to less
experienced diplomats he advised them to go to the extreme of writing too much rather that too little

Who Is King Richard III Good Or Evil
Richard III King Richard iii is a well known historical play written by William Shakespeare. From
1483 to 1485 Richard ruled over the land of England. Much misconceptions have been noted to
actually describe what kind of ruler he was; whether he was a hero or a tyrant Shakespeare scrutinized
Richard as a killer and a very evil person whose selfish ways got him to reign over his kingdom.
Rather than using verifiable facts, his play was very much exaggerated. Shakespeare held up certain
crimes against Richard that ruined his reputation. In Act 1 scene 1, 18 23; Shakespeare written that

Investigating The Pricing Of Audit
Researches about audit pricing started in the 1980s with the publishing of Simunic (1980) s The
pricing of audit services: Theory and evidence. He set out the multiple regression model of audit
pricing and run the regression analysis using data from 397 listed companies in USA. Simunic took
the position that audit fees are determined by the loss exposure of the client comlany, the
apportionment rate of loss between the audit firm and the client company, and the production function
and characteristics of the audit firm . The results of his study demonstrate that the scale of an auditee
is the most significant factor determining its audit fees, despite other factors, such as the ratio of
receivables to total assets of the client company and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the researches mentioned above focus on developed economies, where audit markets have
similar characteristics: audit markets are mature and oligopolistic; audit markets operate under stable
policy and regulation. However, things might be different in China, a developing economy, due to the
imperfect regulation and a highly competitive audit market, where top ten audit firms are only in
charge of 30% listed companies during 2005 2007, while big 8 audit firms dominated the audit market
in developed economies in the same period (Li et al., 2005; Wang et al., 2008).
Most empirical studies of audit fees have come out due to government s requirement of Chinese listed
companies to disclose audit fees in their financial reports, since 2001. Some works investigate the
determinants of audit fees directly. Wang (2002) became the first researcher to study audit pricing
determinants of Chinese listed companies. He concludes that the scale of client firm and auditor, the
complexity of client firm, audit opinion, audit risk, and the industry of client firms are of statistically
significance in determining audit fees. Liu et al. (2003) s research further concludes that the location
of client firm is significantly related to audit fees. Wu (2003) s contribution is that there is a positive
relationship between the changing of audit opinions (basically from unqualified opinion to qualified

Speech On Gratitude In Gratitude
The Prosperity In Gratitude
By Lori Hamann
Dec 20, 2007
The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as
the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings!
~Henry Ward Beecher
This is the time of year when we give thanks. It s the time when we look around our lives and feel
grateful for all that we have. Our families, friends, and all of the love in our lives. We are grateful for
the work that we do. We look to see the silver lining in all of our difficult situations, and feel grateful
for the opportunity to learn so much from. Did you notice how abundant you felt when you were
standing the in place of all of that gratitude?
Gratitude is a powerful thing to exercise when we are looking to create more abundance in our lives.
Why? Because as we focus on all that we are grateful for, we begin to feel more abundant, and when
we begin to feel more abundant we then begin to attract flow of abundance in our lives. What you
focus on grows. Like attracts like. That s why you won t increase the abundance in your life by
focusing on all that you don t have.
There is a blessing for us in the loving expression of gratitude. As we focus on what we have, we
create more of it. As we focus on on our joy, we create more of that. As we focus on love, we indeed
create more of that, and love is core and central to all manifestation in our lives. When you create
from a place of love and intention your

  • 2. Essay On Bata India Targeting the unorganized market Bata India is one of the market leaders in organized Indian Footwear Market and should move towards grabbing a potential market share by on tapping the tier III and tier IV markets (smaller towns) through distributors and franchises. The company has to develop a completely new line of merchandise to tap the unorganized footwear market, which accounts for almost 60% of the total market. The company is planning to open new outlets in these areas and has tied up with wholesalers to sell shoes in rural shops. Bata India has already piloted such Bata stores in smaller markets which turned out a success. Right investment and the attempt to target the unorganized market will be a step in the right direction as the market accounts for nearly two third of the USD 35 billion Indian footwear market. • 3. Why Organizations are Accidents Waiting to Happen in In... Why do organizations fail? In Patrick O Hara s prologue of his book, Why Law enforcement Organizations Fail, he talks about how organizations are accidents waiting to happen. O Hara gives examples of how one of the most well known federal government agencies, the FBI, still has mishaps in their organization. In Dietrich Dorner s book, The Logic of Failure, he talks about how humans make decisions and solve problems. Dorner believes the issue with humans solving problems is that once immediate problems are solved we do not anticipate the new ones that appear. Sam Antar in his interview with CNBC and in Lydia Segal s journal article, Roadblocks in Reforming Corrupt Agencies: The Case of the New York City School Custodians, they talk about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People in organizations are tempted to sabotage the organization due to their ego, self interest and the incentive of becoming higher in the organization s hierarchy (JJCOB1964, 2012). Furthermore, people in these organizations can create small groups within the organization that can destroy the organization (JJCOB1964, 2012). According to O Hara organizations must be quick to stop environmental challenges (JJCOB1964, 2012). Only a few organizations can keep up with these challenges and that is another reason why organizations fail (JJCOB1964, 2012). To illuminate, we can look at Robert Hanssen who betrayed the FBI by giving Russian U.S secrets (O Hara, 2012, p. 5). Hanssen who was described as an arrogant loner was reported by his FBI agent brother for being a security risk (O Hara, 2012, p. 5). Despite being reported, Hanssen was able to climb the hierarchy in the organization, which increased his ability to spy (O Hara, 2012, p. 5). Here we see a slow response from the FBI to rid the organization of a threat. Although the FBI has many downturns the people of the United States still heavily supports the organization (O Hara, 2012, p. 6). I believe that organizations are accidents waiting to happen and I have seen this in a few places that I have worked. For example, I had a bad experience working at an ice cream polar this past summer. The manager was a wealthy man who owned the shop and real estate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Authoritarian Personality By Erich Fromm Summary The article, The Authoritarian Personality, written by Erich Fromm discusses the common and different characteristics between the two forms of an authoritarian personality. He starts to explain how one becomes a mature person. He states that to become a mature person, said person needs to have developed love and reason. He then states that an authoritarian character has not reached maturity, and therefore, has not developed love or reason. Erich Fromm continues to explain that the difference between the ruler and the ruled is how they start to feel greater. The way the ruled feels greater is by depending on their ruler for guidance and by following the ruler to become a part of the larger group. The way the ruler feels greater is by depending on the ruled to continue to look at them as strong and powerful. He then points out that one person can hold both the ruler and the ruled characteristics. Erich Fromm continues to explain the differences between rational and irrational authority and where these two forms of authority are found. He ends by saying that the understanding of love and reason, and developing said characteristics is the foundation to a person s own authority and political democracy. While reading this article, it brought me back to all the times I have dealt with people who have authoritative personalities and how it affected me. As stated by Erich Fromm, all people with authority personalities contain components of both the ruler and the ruled. To ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Theories of Marx In this seminar, I seek to analyse, discuss and evaluate the theories of Marx. Firstly, I will analyse the relationship between human action and social structure. Having completed the analysis, I will move on further to discuss and exemplify his theory of alienation. Lastly I will evaluate his theory of false consciousness. Question 1 Human action and social structure are extremely prevalent in the works of Marx. In terms of the workers and capitalist classes, he postulates that they are not free but rather actors of the capitalist system. The workers are forced into labour to make a living, the force of circumstance (Elster, 1986:29) while the capitalist is forced to keep themselves in business. Elster (1986:29) argues that this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has thus become alienated from normality and has become an appendage of the machine. In the movie, Daens we see the women and children working on the machines in the factory, not able to communicate amongst themselves and in the case of the government coming to investigate them, they weren t able to converse in French as they could only speak Flemish, thus further enforcing the disconnection factor. In order to become un alienated and work toward becoming the whole man where everyone is part of one class, is able to support their family and their every need and has enough free time and is still able to work as Marx wished in his efforts, the workers would have to take risks to get out of their situation and keep trying to overthrow capitalism, as in the case of the movie, Daens where we witness them taking the dead child out on to the streets. This risk however is quickly averted by the capitalists as they have the means, the money and the knowledge to get their workers back to work. They simply call in a favour from the local police and then fire all those who marched. The instigator or initial risk taker (the woman who met Daens) is then punished further with rape as a means of enforcing their domination over the working class. Question 3 False consciousness is termed in the context of the work of Marx as a statement of our existence, it is not our consciousness that determines our existence, but ... The MBTI is a widely used test that helps a person begin to understand why people perceive situations differently, communicate different from others, and opt for different activities. The book s authors, Otto Kroeger and Janet Thuesen, husband and wife, have long been in the forefront of adapting the MBTI for use in everyday life and coined the phrase Typewatching as a descriptor for their work. After completing the introductory and explanatory material the authors take us to practical applications of Typewatching – in the workplace, and in interpersonal relationships such as friendship, dating and commitment, and family life between parents and children. The chapter on workplace Typewatching, titled Typewatching From 9 to 5 , is the lengthiest chapter and the interest in workplace Typewatching no doubt influenced Kroeger and Thuesen to devote a second book, Type Talk at Work, solely to Typewatching s influence on workplace dynamics. The authors continue their discourse on Typewatching with a chapter titled Typewatching Everywhere . Here they briefly discuss Typewatching in educational environments as practiced by teachers and learners and move to Typewatching s applications in social settings, one s approach to personal finance, weight gain or loss, humor, sports, religion, and politics. Common Problem Areas There are a significant number of common problem areas in writing reports in the criminal justice field, because individuals often submit reports without proofreading and correcting mistakes. Consequently, it has a negative impact on the overall quality of the report because it can make it difficult for readers to understand the issues or topics that is being discussed in the report. Thus, it is an important rule to remember not to submit any written report without proof reading it, including reports that are simple and straightforward (Miller Whitehead, 2015). The biggest competitor for P!ATD is the other main stream pop punk rock band called Fall Out Boy (FOB) which consists of Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman, and Andy Hurley. Although P!ATD and FOB have similar musical styles, the different music videos each group presents, the varying tunes and lyrics, and disparate stage presence during live concerts, is why I lean toward P!ATD as my favorite overall band, with FOB falling just behind it. The themes and theatrics behind P!ATD music videos are superior to FOB music videos. • 12. Garden Gnome Research Paper SUMMERTIME HAS ARRIVED, AND ON the cooler days, we can work in our gardens and spruce up our lawn decorations. For some of us, that means we can fuss over our garden gnomes and other colorful knick knacks and statues. Mankind has been adorning their gardens with small statuary ever since antiquity. Historically, many of these early figurines were religious in nature; but, over the centuries, these garden protectors were embraced by the whimsical world of folklore. Modern garden gnomes, as we think of them today, first became truly popular in the 1800s in Germany. By some accounts, these German Gartenzwerge (garden dwarfs) were commercially produced as early as 1841, and they were viewed as happy, helpful creatures. Appearing in their ever stylish hats, these German figurines spread across Europe and eventually caught the eye of a well to do Englishman, Sir Charles Edmund Isham, 10th Baronet. In 1847, Isham purchased twenty one garden gnomes from Nuremberg and displayed them at his home, Lamport Hall, Northamptonshire. Only one gnome (named Lampy) survives to this very day, but he was a part of the original crew who has been credited with starting the garden gnome craze in the UK (and, later, the world). ... • 14. Moral Values In Beowulf Ever since a young age, children have been told stories with a clear moral lesson. These lessons are used explicitly to show basic principles that a growing mind needs. However, as one ages the morals become less obvious, but they remain just as influential. Examples of these less direct morals are seen by young adults in academic analyzation and in their personal and social lives through popular movies or music. Marvel s Spider Man: Homecoming and Anglo Saxon poem, Beowulf, exist to help readers understand a variety of moral principles needed to become a respectable citizen and a hero. The writers of the screenplay and epic portray the main character as a tragic hero to show audience that one may have the confidence to attempt a task, but they must be reasonable enough when they are not capable to do so. In the film, Spider Man/Peter Parker takes on crimes that he thinks he is ready for, but is not trained enough to do so. When he is not able to complete the task, his mistake leads to almost costing the lives of thousands of people and him losing his suit. (Spider Man: Homecoming). The screenplay writers use this scene to show how our hero relied on the wrong factors and did not take in account that he was not ready to complete his goal, representing society s tendency to eagerly jump at opportunities that they are not yet ready for. In the epic, Beowulf , the author writes, ... Beowulf rose, still brave, still strong, and with his shield at his side, and a mail shirt on his breast, strode calmly, confidently, toward the tower... (Lines 511 513). The author wrote this quote to emphasize to readers how confident Beowulf was upon entering this battle despite his older age. This event causing his untimely death gives the impression to the audience that going into a situation unprepared sometimes leads to irreversible outcome. In addition to encouraging audience members to understand their limits, the two works also show the importance of asking for help. The main characters in both plots are given opportunities to achieve their goals by already respected superiors, proving to the audience that it is okay to require help. People should carefully weigh the price that they must pay and Camus is debating the idea of whether through world war, conflicts will actually be resolved once and for all; that if even after several generations of sacrifice, they will not come closer to a world society. In The Stranger, Meursault shows utter indifference to the man he had murdered. He did not consider the possible consequences before he shot the man, and simply instinctively kills the Arab without much consideration for what he himself would end up as. Camus explores the idea of existentialism; the role that man plays, and that he is responsible for his own actions, in the midst of a meaningless and empty world. From the ideologies expressed in Neither Victim nor Executioner, it seems as though Camus purposely made Meursault blind towards weighing the price he would have to pay upon murdering the Arab, and thus places focus on the process of his realization. The war can be thought of as a parallel to the physical fight that Meursault and the Arab engaged in; the ultimate conflict was not solved through murder and physical action. Society still remained the way it was, and instead of Meursault changing the views of society, he was instead forced to submit to it. * Camus wrote for L Express, from 1955 1956. Virtual Body Circulation, Respiration, Breathing Sophia Ho A13369046 Virtual Body Circulation, Respiration, Breathing Ventilation is a process in which our body extracts oxygen from the atmosphere and releases carbon dioxide as a byproduct. Overall, this process exchanges air between our lungs and the atmosphere. According to Boyle s Law, at a constant temperature, pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to volume. Therefore, when we breathe in, the chest cavity expands, and the pressure inside the lungs becomes slightly lower than the atmospheric pressure. • 19. The Treaty Of Historic Treaties Essay Historic treaties continue to be relevant in Canada today because ever since Christopher Columbus arrived to an undiscovered continent, he managed to employ detrimental consequences to the peoples of this land. The treaty was one of the colonial processes that would allow for the exploitation of the First Nations. Many Aboriginal Signatories to treaties understood the treaty agreements as being the foundation of a relationship with the Crown and that this relationship would be based on co existence versus the crown, creating them as a surrendering of the land with only small reserve retained, and limited hunting in those territories. These treaties are important today because they try to go about who has land claim to a certain area and they show that some treaties were written by the British with the poorer intentions of the Aboriginals. However, the documents and treaties that the British drafted and passed would create a paper trail of vast amounts of exploitation. Treaties show prevalence today because they can demonstrate how complicated the history of Canada s relationships with the Aboriginal peoples is. One factor that makes this history perplexing is trying to figure out who has claim to the lands that people stand on. Steinbeck figures this out by noticing that she has a tone in her voice, which he doesn t describe, but she has a tone that we can detect by the dialogue he includes in this section of the novel. Also, by the context of the conversation. Steinbeck includes that the waitress was the type of person that puts a cloud over everyone s heads and brings out not the positive, but the negative in every situation. He however does not explain a particular person that brings exuberance to a situation and always blocks out the negative. This is because John Steinbeck says that the waitress gets him. Distinct from typically passive and isolated presidencies during the 18th and 19th centuries, the modern American presidency of the mid 20th century set the use of power and popularity as precedence. The transition to the modern presidency can be understood through the development of the presidency s institutional, international, and perceptual identity. In this essay, I will argue that the increasing role of independent agencies and the White House staff that spearheaded executive policymaking led to a significant institutional change to the presidency. I will also argue America s expanding international function in response to globalization placed the presidency, responsible for foreign policy, in a newly found position to exercise power. Finally, I will argue that the public perception of the presidency as a living reality (Reedy, p. 10) shifted it from a peripheral political entity to one at the center of policy discussion and leadership. In this essay, I will present examples of the modern presidency in the attributes of administrations from Franklin D. Roosevelt through John F. • 33. Theodor Geisel THESIS Theodor Geisel s political activism during World War II, especially in the form of his political cartoons, heavily influenced his work as a children s author, and impacted the messages of Horton Hears a Who and Yertle the Turtle. INTRODUCTION Dr. Seuss is known for his phenomenal creatures, invented words, and rhymes that surpassed absurdity and became something beautiful. Before that, though, Theodor Geisel was nationally noted for his political cartoons during World War II that enticed the mind to do more than think, but to ask questions and crave knowledge and justice. Dr. Seuss was not just a whimsical alter ego of Mr. Geisel by any means, however. Dr. Seuss allowed Geisel to communicate his message to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They became shameful of their ancestry, and attempted to conceal it, to shield themselves from torment. Regardless of these efforts, Theodor Geisel was harassed in school and his family was mocked at home. He would later claim that because the Geisels were an established family, he was fortunate to have received minimal bullying, but this ordeal shaped the prejudices that were present in his political cartoons and cinema for the majority of his career (29). Following his childhood in Springfield, Geisel attended college at Dartmouth University. He received excellent grades there, and majored in English. He was a prominent writer and cartoonist for the school s comedy magazine, Jack O Lantern, and his first official writing position was chief editor of that magazine. He was banned from writing for it after he was caught violating prohibition. Unwilling to give up his writing position, he wrote under the pseudonym Seuss , and was never discovered by campus authorities. After graduation, he attended Oxford for graduate school. He did well at first, but soon the doodles in the margins of his notes began to conquer entire pages, and he realized graduate school was simply not for him. In the short time spent there, though, he met Helen Palmer, and fell in love. The two were married in 1927, and throughout their relationship she supported his artistic and literary career, and ... • 34. Investigating The Pricing Of Audit Researches about audit pricing started in the 1980s with the publishing of Simunic (1980) s The pricing of audit services: Theory and evidence. He set out the multiple regression model of audit pricing and run the regression analysis using data from 397 listed companies in USA. Simunic took the position that audit fees are determined by the loss exposure of the client comlany, the apportionment rate of loss between the audit firm and the client company, and the production function and characteristics of the audit firm . The results of his study demonstrate that the scale of an auditee is the most significant factor determining its audit fees, despite other factors, such as the ratio of receivables to total assets of the client company and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the researches mentioned above focus on developed economies, where audit markets have similar characteristics: audit markets are mature and oligopolistic; audit markets operate under stable policy and regulation. However, things might be different in China, a developing economy, due to the imperfect regulation and a highly competitive audit market, where top ten audit firms are only in charge of 30% listed companies during 2005 2007, while big 8 audit firms dominated the audit market in developed economies in the same period (Li et al., 2005; Wang et al., 2008). Most empirical studies of audit fees have come out due to government s requirement of Chinese listed companies to disclose audit fees in their financial reports, since 2001. Some works investigate the determinants of audit fees directly. Wang (2002) became the first researcher to study audit pricing determinants of Chinese listed companies. He concludes that the scale of client firm and auditor, the complexity of client firm, audit opinion, audit risk, and the industry of client firms are of statistically significance in determining audit fees. Liu et al. (2003) s research further concludes that the location of client firm is significantly related to audit fees. Wu (2003) s contribution is that there is a positive relationship between the changing of audit opinions (basically from unqualified opinion to qualified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the book progresses, he starts to change and become more accustomed to the fact that he is an Old One that has a quest that he must fulfill. The moment that is most crucial to Will s change was after he read the Book of Gramarye. The Book of Gramarye contained several verses and images and as Will read further and further, the book would take him on an actual experience of what the verses meant. With the experiences from the book, Will gained knowledge on things such as spells, survival against evil, the magic in trees, names of stars and planets, and the storyline behind the Old Ones. Using his new understanding of things, he starts to change by incorporating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because it was in Miss Greythornes manor, no one would have predicted that there would be a book for Will in a particular room inside a grandfather clock. Secondly, I think that Susan Cooper chose this particular setting for it being secluded, but also because Miss Greythorne mentioned But the wood is the Sign of Learning, and when you have done with your own particular learning, you will find it. And I can leave in your mind the movements that the finding will take (Cooper 115). After Miss Greythorne told Will that once he has learned what he had to learn, then he would receive the Sign of Wood made me predict that Will s learning would not take place somewhere very distant because he was already in a different time period with the Dark already starting to rise, so he wouldn t have much time to make a long trip somewhere and back to learn. • 37. Speech On Gratitude In Gratitude The Prosperity In Gratitude By Lori Hamann Dec 20, 2007 The unthankful heart... discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings! ~Henry Ward Beecher This is the time of year when we give thanks. It s the time when we look around our lives and feel grateful for all that we have. Our families, friends, and all of the love in our lives. We are grateful for the work that we do. Did you notice how abundant you felt when you were standing the in place of all of that gratitude? Gratitude is a powerful thing to exercise when we are looking to create more abundance in our lives. Why? Because as we focus on all that we are grateful for, we begin to feel more abundant, and when we begin to feel more abundant we then begin to attract flow of abundance in our lives. What you focus on grows. Like attracts like. That s why you won t increase the abundance in your life by focusing on all that you don t have. That the things going on in the book could actually happen, focus on relationships, and the characters were realistic. The book is for advanced reader, I felt that it was apposite for the age group. Which was a big theme in the book since Dess is white and living in a black foster family. This book would be something that children who are living in mixed families, foster care, or step families.
