NCIS Season 12
In a little more than two weeks, television s most watched show returns to our screens. NCIS has had
quite the season last year as the team faced a dangerous mercenary, dealt with tough challenges in the
character s private lives and ended with children being used by terrorists and Gibbs getting shot as a
result. Before the show returns on September 22, it s time to look back at season 12 and look ahead to
the new season. I will start this article with a brief recap of the main events of last season, then do a
review of last season and finally I will look at the information we have for season 13.
Recap of season 12
The first half of season 12 saw the team being hunted by Russian mercenary Sergei Mishnev. He first
stirred trouble in the season premiere when he shot down a helicopter with Gibbs, McGee and a few
others. Guided by the NCIS team in DC and Russian Counselor Anton Pavlenko, the teame made it
through a tense hunt in the Russian forest. In the end, Gibbs shot Sergei, however, it turned out to be a
non fatal gunshot and Sergei ends up on the NCIS most wanted ... Show more content on

They investigated a terrorist group known as The Calling, which recruited young children through the
internet. This resulted in a boy named Bradley nearly blowing up a bus, while Gibbs did his best to
prevent another boy named Luke to get under the influence of The Calling. One of the group s leaders,
Daniel Budd, later sets up a series of s mines at a hotel in Cairo, which killed NCIS Agent Ned
Dorneget. This led to Dorneget s mother, CIA Officer Joanna Teague, joining NCIS to help take down
The Calling. While they tracked down Sadiq Samar, another one of their leaders, The Calling took
Luke to Iraq. When Gibbs, Joanna and Tony made the trip to Iraq to get Luke back, they didn t realize
it was a trap. As Daniel called Tony to taunt him, Luke put two bullets in Gibbs leg and chest, ending

Construct Validity Research
The above examples provide evidence that a personality measurement can be examined through its
reliability. A good personality test should have the same findings in different occasions (i.e. test retest
reliability) and also all of the items in the test should be measuring the same thing (i.e. internal
consistency). Nevertheless, personality measurement can be evaluated by its validity as well.
Construct validity is one of the main subtypes of validity. Construct validity refers to the ability that a
personality test measures what it is intended to measure. Discriminant validity is a subtype of
construct validity, which refers to the extent that the concept that is not related to the test doesn t
emerge in the test. Soto, C. J., John, O. P. (2009) tested the discriminant validity by comparing the BFI
with the NEO PI R. They showed that the correlation between the BFI and NEO PI R facet scales has
high discriminant validity. Each BFI facet scales correlated most with the corresponding NEO PI R
facet scales than with the other NEO PI R facet. This research demonstrated that BFI is discriminant
valid because it only correlates most with the corresponding items on the NEO PI R. Furthermore,
McCrae and Costa, P. T. (2004) found that NEO Five Factory Inventory (NEO FFI) had high ... Show

In this meta analysis, it included 4,378 MMPI and 1,793 the Rorschach articles. Then, the validity

more valid for studies using psychiatric diagnoses and self report. In contrast, the Rorschach Inkblot
Test was more valid for the objective. This meta analysis showed that both the MMPI and the

Theme Of Identity In A View From The Bridge
You re a blank, a cipher... a zero. (Albee, 1962, p.18). With these words, Martha the main character in
Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? showed her husband, George, that he was nothing. Edward Albee,
the writer of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? talked mainly about Martha and George who pretend to
have different identities just in order not to face reality. Moreover, Arthur Miller, the author of A View
from the Bridge presented the idea of identity in a different way. Miller used the character Eddie to
show how people s identities are constantly changing due to some changes in their lives. Modern
playwrights question the idea of a definite identity.

Eddie is introduced as a moral man with ethics and principles. Miller showed that at the beginning of
the play, Eddie tells the story of a young boy who ratted on immigrant relatives staying in his home
and warn Catherine that she must be absolutely silent about Marco and Rodolpho. Moreover, there
was a discussion between Eddie and Beatrice; where Beatrice is afraid of her immigrant cousins being
caught. Therefore, Eddie told her: listen if everybody keeps his mouth shut, nothing can happen. They
ll pay for their board. (Miller, 1955, p.9).Later in the story, Eddie revealed a different identity .He was
blinded with passion to the point of immorality. When he knew about Catherine falling in love with
Rodolpho, he told Alfieri that he is going to call the immigration so he can keep Catherine just for
him. Even though he knew that he is going to suffer for calling immigration, but does so anyway

In Tanner Higgin s article, Making Media Literacy Central to Digital Citizenship, Higgin explains that
new technologies such as, VR headsets, do not make their way into the classroom despite the potential
benefit. However, students and teachers have utilized video in the classroom for many years. Higgin
suggests that students should learn about media literacy in order to become digital savvy citizens, in
doing so, will potentially change the world to become more, thoughtful, inclusive and just. Higgin
provides five steps that will aide in molding media literacy into digital citizenship. As students gain
knowledge and confidence, and encouraged to create video content about issues that matter to them,

taking a Look at Infant Mortality
Infant mortality is the death of a child that is less than one year of age. Infant mortality rates are
measured by the number of deaths in infants per number of live births. Infants are usually up to that
age of one year. The health outcomes of a pregnancy is mainly influenced by a woman s health. Other
risk factors include race, ethnicity, age, and income. Socioeconomic status and geographic location are
major influences for infant mortality of a child. Most babies that die before their first year can be
because they are born with a serious defect, is a preterm birth (Born too small or too early/37 weeks),
infections, affected by maternal complications of pregnancy, victims of injuries and victims of sudden
infant death syndrome also known as SIDS. National Vital Statistics Reports studied the infant
mortality rates for the top five leading causes of infant death from 2005 to 2009. The top five leading
causes were congenital malformations, preterm birth or low birth weight, SIDS, maternal
complications, and unintentional injuries. Congenital malformations had the biggest decrease from
2005 to 2009 while the other four causes decreased only a little bit or not at all. National Vital
Statistics Reports also studied infant mortality rates, by the race and ethnicity of the mother in the
United States from 2005 to 2009. The infant mortality rate for each race and ethnicity of the mothers
decreased from 2005 to 2009. The non Hispanic blacks had the highest infant mortality rate

Psychological Factors Affecting Eyewitness Memory
Whenever a crime takes place, eyewitnesses who are present on the scene can help the police or
authorities when the crime is being investigated. However, eyewitness memory can be affected by a
series of factors.
One of the factors that can affect eyewitness memory is stress. Whenever a person witnesses a violent
crime, his response is almost always one that generates a stressful response to the stressor imposed by
the crime. This stressful response is the defensive response which is heavily studied by
psychophysiologists (e.g., Klorman, Wiesenfeld Weissberg, 1977). This defensive reaction is the
physiological response (increased blood pressure, muscle tone and acceleration in heart rate) resulting
when attention control is highly dominant (Tucker and Williamson, 1984). The activation mode,
which is one of the two neural control systems that regulates a ... Show more content on

These are: (1) a bias against stimulus change, (2) a tonic readiness for action, and (3) processing under
tight attention controls. Some of the tasks that elicit the dominance of activation mode include
activities which increase cognitive and/or somatic anxiety such as vigilance, escape, avoidance or
pressure tasks (Deffenbacher, 1994). When assessing the effectiveness of a condition of heightened
stress, it should be compared with another condition that is demonstrably lower in stress (or even free
from stress), where the arousal mode of attention control is predominant (Tucker and Williamson,
1984). When the activation mode is dominant, there is a notable deceleration of heart rate and lowered
blood pressure (Lacey and Laceym 1974). Deffenbacher (1994) concluded that if a task elicits the
arousal mode of attention control, the memory will be enhanced for the most important and
informative aspect of the

he is obsessed with what happens after dying. This shows us that while thinking of death, people
cannot stop thinking about what will happen to them after they die. Furthermore, this quote hints us
about how responsible Miles will be of Alaska s death since he will always think of the fact she is
dead and of what may have happened to her after it.
Page 119: The quote which refers to Alaska s mom s death shows how young Alaska had been faced to
this situation when she was eight years old. For all this time she has felt the guilt about it because she

event in her life may have a link with her death since she dies on the night that her mother died which

the guilt she felt may have had a consequence on an eventual suicide in order to join her mom on the

Disruptive Students Place In Alternative Schools
School can become tedious. Everyone can agree with that, yet students know they must endure the
long days and heavy workloads to further their education and stay out of trouble. Those who refuse to
behave have no concept of the consequences of their disorderly actions. These students continually
disrupt classrooms and prohibit others from receiving a full education. In addition to being a
distraction, they can also pose a threat to the safety of their classmates. Alternative schools are a
logical solution. These correctional facilities are beneficial to not only the delinquent but also to the
community because they help to produce a productive member of society. Disruptive students should

For reasons unknown, some students simply cannot or choose not to behave during class. Caroleo
opens her article, An Examination of the Risks and Benefits of Alternative Education , with the claim,
One size education does not fit for all children and youth (35). It is true that blanket instruction does
not work for most at risk students. A specialized educational setting results in an increase in
supervision and guidance. Specialized settings lower the possibility of frequent outbursts; therefore,
placement into a smaller class would benefit the disruptive student. In most alternative classrooms, the
student teacher ratio is low. In a local alternative school hosted by New Brockton High School, the
class roster rarely reaches above ten students. Smaller settings allow teachers the chance to minimize
down time and focus on individuals. Increased one on one time allows students to find more
productive outlets for their excess energy. In addition to being beneficial for the troublesome student,
alternative schooling would allow other members of the class a productive environment in which to
learn. Students outbursts are detrimental to not only the other students education but also the
education of the delinquent as well. Placement into an alternative school will allow typical students to
attend class uninterrupted and encourage the cause of distraction to focus on continuing their
education. If the disruptive student is removed from the classroom, then it is likely that all students
grades will flourish accordingly in the now positive

Seal Hunting Research Paper
Canadians take pride in many things whether it is a national sport, tradition or culture. But why do
Canadians turn a blind eye on Seal Hunting? Do they feel bad for the animals? Do they take seal
hunting as a form of animal cruelty? Or do they just don t want to shine a light on it because it is
considered a national disgrace among many Canadians? The common practice of seal hunting in the
North of Canada is important and crucial in ways because it has a traditional significance to First
Nations People, is of economic importance, and is ethically scrupulous. Firstly, Seal Hunting has a

the seals will consume the majority of the fish (mostly cod) and will collapse the Fishing industry
because of the lack of fish in the water.[8] The annual seal hunt protects both seal population from

Taking a Look at the Bitcoin
Problem Overview
Since the creation of Bitcoin in 2009, cryptocurrencies have gained an increasing amount of media
attention. Ever since Bitcoin first began trading, investors as well as miners have proclaimed the
positive and negative aspects of the virtual currency, though the fluctuation in price of Bitcoin has
been very difficult to determine. This research paper look analyzes some of the issues that must be
addressed to ensure the future of Bitcoin.
Introduction
The first form of cyptocurrency, Bitcoins are the first type of digital currency that is both created and
subsequently managed by cryptography, rather than a central authority (Kinsella 2013). The Bitcoin
architecture was outlined in a research paper by Satoshi Nakamoto, which led to the creation of a
decentralized network, allowing the peer to peer digital currency to be owned and traded (Smith
2013). After several years of development, Bitcoin was launched in 2009, and exists solely within the
Block Chain (explained later).
Creation of Bitcoins
The architecture of Bitcoin utilizes a validation system, based on a sequence of recent transactions and
numerical proofs of work, which are passed through an SHA 256 hashing algorithm (twice) (Smith
2013). The result of this is a block , which follows very precise mathematical criteria, and requires an
exact numerical to solve. These required numericals are extremely difficult to calculate. This
validation
Each block has a varying level of difficulty, in order for

The Three Primary Phases Of The Water Cycle
July 20, 2016
The Water Cycle All living things must have water to maintain homeostasis. In order for there to water
to replenish there is a cycle known as the water cycle. The water cycle has many different names such
as the hydrologic cycle and the H2O cycle. There are three primary phases in the water cycle:
evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. The water cycle is continuous process in which some
phases of the cycle may take longer than some depending in the geographical location any person or

Water storage can be either fresh water or salt water. Ground water is where there is just a body of
water, or water that is on the ground. Also water storage does not have to be in liquid form. It can be
found in snow, ice, or glaciers. When one of the solid forms of water melts it is called run off water.
When run off water runs into a water storage it will evaporate at some point in the future.
Condensation
Condensation is the process by which water vapor in the air is changed back in to liquid water.
Condensation is crucial to the water cycle because is responsible for the formation of clouds.
Precipitation
The final step in the water cycle is precipitation. Precipitation is when water is released from clouds in
the form of rain, acid rain, sleet, snow, or hail. It is the primary connection in the water cycle that
provides for the delivery of atmospheric water to the earth. The most common type of precipitation is
rain.
Acid Rain
Acid rain is caused by emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide, which react with the water
molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids.

Brotherhood and their ideology. The first section, Politicizing Islam, focuses on the framework of
political Islam up to 1963 that allows for the development of the Syrian Muslin Brotherhood and their
early days. The second section entitled The Islamic Opposition to Ba athism, goes in depth into the
political, economic, and ideological subtleties fueling opposition between Islam and the Syrian Ba ath
party. The proceeding third segment, The rise of Jihadism in later 1970s Syria, examines the political
and ideological circumstances that gave ride to the jihadist trend in regards to the Brotherhood itself.
The fourth and final segmentation of the novel titled Ashes of Hama: The Syrian Islamist Movement

How Does Hana Greenfield Use Personal Experiences In...
In general, history books recite facts and figures to create censored generalizations about historical
events, including the Holocaust. Dramatizations of these tragedies tend to use detailed accounts of
those effected by the catastrophe to create a somewhat accurate storyline, which often elicits some
form of an emotional response from the viewers/readers. These accounts add an extra level of detail to
a once nameless, faceless fact or figure. It allows the reader/viewer to visualize what was occurring at
the time. They start to think what they would do, how they would feel or react if they were in that
particular situation and that is when the emotions start to form inside the reader/viewer. Dramas allow
the readers/viewers to connect more with the material and hopefully find meaning that they could not
find simply skimming pages of a book. In Fragments of Memory, Hana Greenfield uses personal

This sense of helplessness and understanding that once one enters the camp they cannot leave because

Metaphors In The Play Fences
AMO CONCEPT QUESTIONS

1. Some people build fences to keep people out... and other people built fences to keep people in.
Bono said this to Troy on page 61. This has a much deeper meaning the deeper a reader gets into the
play Fences . On page 57 Cory states Papa done went up to the school and told coach Zellman I can t
play football no more . Troy, who is Cory s father does this to ultimately protect Cory from being
racial discriminated in the big leagues for football. He wants to keep Cory inside the fence. Troy and

Throughout the book Troy uses baseball as a metaphor for life many times. When Cory strikes out its
because he has made a mistake he should never commit again according to his father. The first time
Cory struck out was when he lied to his father about quitting his job to maintain playing football after
his father specifically told him not too. So Troy tells Cory I m gonna tell you what your mistake was.
See... you swung at the ball and didn t hit it. That s strike one. Don t strike out! (page 58) Troy is
trying to teach Cory not to lie. Troy feels disrespected, so he is enforcing rules upon Cory. The second
time he strikes out is when Cory and Troy get into a physical fight. This time troy tells him Alright.
That s strike two. You stay away from around me, boy. Don t you strike out. (page 72) Troy is stunned
at the fact that his son physically laid hands on him. But when Cory finally strikes out, Troy tells him
Go on and get away from around my house (page 89) Troy was not going to be disrespected by his
own son, so he resorted to just kicking him out. Troy was attempting to teach Cory to respect, without
ever truly showing Cory what respect was. On Cory s second strike, Troy was found hurting Rose,
which in no way was respectful. All Troy ever really wanted Cory to learn was to live without the help
of others, for Cory to pave his own path. On page 39 he tells Rose He s healthy. he s got to make his
own way. I made mine. Aint nobody gonna hold his hand when he get out there in that world. Troy
was a worried father. He didn t want his son to turn out like him as he explained on page 39. Troy
states I don t want him to be like me !... the only decent thing that ever happened to me. I wish him
that... I decided seventeen years ago that boy wasn t getting involved in no sports. Not after what they
did to me in the sports. Cory felt that the fact that troy wasn t allowing him to play football was just

Rhetorical Analysis Of Virginia Woolf
Rhetorical Analysis Essay Woolf Alanna Kellam 1B In her memoir, Virginia Woolf discusses a
valuable lesson learned during her childhood fishing trips in Cornwall, England. To convey the
significance of past moments, Woolf incorporates detailed figurative language and a variety of syntax
into her writing. Woolf communicates an appreciative tone of the past to the audience, emphasizing its
lasting impact on her life. Woolf organizes her writing using various forms of syntax which
contributes to the significance of the memory. The author s portrayal of the setting is recounted with
long, detailed sentences in order to illustrate its importance. The excitement of fishing is depicted as
Woolf retells Sometimes the lines would be handed to us; baited by gobbets cut from fish; and the line
thrilled in one s fingers as the boat tossed and shot through the water (12 15). The author includes
multiple semicolons not only to extend the sentence, but to also present similar ideas in a like
structure. Notably, the author conveys tactile imagery to support the lengthy sentences with
compelling details. The tossing of the boat and the touch of the fishing line embodies the exciting
chaos the author had felt in the past. As a result, readers are then able to understand the specific
attributes of Woolf s memory that made the experience significant. Additionally, Woolf further
develops the impact of her excitement as she describes ...and then how can I convey the excitement?
there was a little leaping tug... (15 17). Again, lengthy sentence structure helps to connect the images
of her memory. The dashes communicate to readers a sense of the author s internal thoughts, as if she
was writing all that was on her mind. The dashes outline changes in the flow of the language, so that
readers can note clearly defined shifts. They also symbolize the vividness of her memories, therefore
the significance of the events in her situation. Unique from the majority of the sentences, Woolf
includes declarative structure as she states It was a perfect lesson (25). The line stands out to the
readers, amongst the other sentences, because of its length, which is intended to convey an idea
directly. The

Cryogenics In Frankenstein
Cryogenics The science that addresses the production of and effects of very low temperatures.
Hundreds of celebrities have been frozen, where the body will be frozen in hydrogen until medicine
progresses enough to help the frozen. Cryogenics can prevent death, but Cryo sleep can have effects
that are a boon to mankind. In Halo, Cryo sleep is used when a ship`s crew has to travel an
innumerable distance for a mind boggling long time. Their bodies are frozen until the destination is
reached, then the bodies will be thawed out and no detrimental, lethal, or fatal effect will occur on
their health. However, Cryogenics sparks the controversy of cheating death. If you can cheat death are
you even human? Will the human conscience even be preserved? ... Show more content on

War could destroy our planet and our race because, as we know, people will do anything to acquire
immortality and to join God on the throne of Heaven. Many aspire to become everlasting and drink
from the Fountain of Youth to heighten themselves above mortals and claim no way to die. Weapons
have been conceived that could destroy us in seconds and take away innocent lives just so few could
have the power of the Omnipotent. The monster in Frankenstein says, Like Adam, I was apparently
united by no link to any other being in existence; but his state was far different from mine in every
other respect. He had come forth from the hands of God a perfect creature, happy and prosperous,
guarded by the especial care of his Creator; he was allowed to converse with and acquire knowledge
from beings of a superior nature, but I was wretched, helpless and alone. (Pg.185) Adam was lonely,
so Eve was created to satisfy his needs. The monster longed for a friend, but Victor was acute in
knowing that his creature was almost invincible, and he foresaw the havoc to be wreaked on Earth if
another of the monster`s kind were to be created. The war(s) caused by the few lucky enough to
achieve immortality through cryogenics would be private and military contractors would be used such

Firdaus
Women at zero point largely describes a female prisoner who had a terrible life experience. This
female by the name of Firdaus, is on death row for murder. Firdaus narrates her story to a female
psychiatrist named Nawal. Men in Firdaus s life betrayed her as well as anyone who she ever came
across. Firdaus begins telling the harrowing story of growing up without a good role model, and
anyone to look up to. She endures the hardships of life on her own which led her to the killing of a
man, then to imprisonment. Nietzsche s writings including, Human All Too Human, view on woman s
right, is somewhat in question. Some of his writings seem to favor woman while others make woman
seem inferiority to men. It s puzzling to have an exact answer to ... Show more content on

That must sometimes have driven their neighboring nations to despair. My understanding in this text
reflecting to my understanding of Firdaus is that she was so tormented by all the things that happened
to her in childhood and growing up, she invented the idea that she was worth something, she could use
her body to gain power in which she did. Eventually it was hard for her to get out of this line of work,
the falsehood and deceit and eventually she became desperate. Most of Nietzsche s works seem to
attack women, specifically blaming feminism. I ll come to the conclusion that Nietzsche extremely
dislikes and degrades women. I mean, his worked has similar ideas to Plato and Aristotle. Nietzsche
dislikes women who are in a position of power, who strive for the economic and legal independence.
He regards women as retrogrades and hates the idea of female progress. One of the many quotes by
Nietzsche regarding women is, when a woman has scholarly inclinations there is usually something
wrong with her sexuality. This exactly describes his thinking and judgment on women s rights.
Women at Zero Point is mainly about feminism, choice, and women s right. In conclusion, I

The Impossibility of Governmental Regulation on Healthcare...
At this particular stage, it is impossible for governmental entities to effectively regulate each and
every instance of health care service. This facet is particularly true for cases of international health
care services. There are several different types of health care services provided for international
travelers. The lack of effective regulation of these services can actually aid a number of different
consumers in different ways.
For instance, the entity known as Traveler s Health can potentially aid consumers by awarding health
services and benefits to those who are not American citizens. The services and products of this entity
are supposed to be exclusively reserved for U.S. citizens. If individuals can falsify documents to fake
their status as an American, they can then claim some of these benefits.
Also, in instances in which there are American travelers who have been overseas for a substantial
length of time, once their paperwork and credentials expire, they would no longer be eligible to
receive these services. A regulatory oversight of this fact would enable such travelers (or expatriates in
this instance) to continue to receive these benefits.
Another purpose of this particular entity is to promote the clinical practice of travel medicine (Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011). Legitimate U.S. citizens who qualify for the attainment of
such medicine could potentially acquire it and supply it to locals if there were oversight in regulations

Film Analysis Of The Mise-En-Scene In Film
The Mise en scene describes the elements and details in a scene of a film and the way they are shown
and arranged. This being said, the lighting, makeup, costumes, setting and props are all key factors of
Mise en scene. The setting in a film creates a sense of place, a mood, and may also reflect a character s
emotional state. It can be entirely fabricated within a studio just like Rear Window or it may also be
found and filmed on location. Perhaps the most easily visible aspect of mise en scene is costume.
Costume can include both makeup or wardrobe choices that are used to convey a character s
temperament or status, and to suggest these differences between characters. Lighting is a huge part of
filmmaking. Lights are what a cinematographer uses to paint a set. They use lighting changes to help
define characters, create a setting, or to portray how that character is feeling. In the next few
paragraphs, I will point out all the cinimatograpgy of the Mise en scene from the clips from The
Godfather and Rear Window. The opening sequence of Rear Window is a curtain raiser... literally. it
opens with the camera on the inside of J.B Jefferies(Jeff) s Livingroom in his apartment. The credits
are shown on the scene of a window in jeffs apartment, while the blinds on the window behind them
are slowly raised. Making me compare it to watching a production at the theater, where they raise the
curtains at the start of the show. This opening scene takes the audience into a comfortable setting; we
re in a seemingly nice neighborhood and it is a beautiful morning! As we start to take in the scene, The
camera then cuts to an angled shot that is looking out of the window and down, where we follow a cat
walking up the stairway and into the courtyard. The camera makes a brief stop at the ladder against the
apartment building before it slowly tilts upwards (almost as if its were climbing the ladder!) the
camera then stops at the upper apartment balcony where a small family can be seen getting ready. The
camera then pans left, showing the audience all of the open windows on the apartment complex,
where we can see that none of the windows has their curtains fully drawn or their blinds down for
privacy. There s a sudden flash from

Evaluation Of Language Transcripts From Salt ] Software...
A language sample was elicited during the last hour of the evaluation. The sample was transcribed and
evaluated using the Systematic Analysis of Language Transcripts [SALT] software for quantitative and
qualitative analysis.
Andrea enthusiastically participated with the examiner during the language sample. She initiated the
conversation by choosing to explain how to play the game Googly Eyes rather than utilize any of the
activities provided by the examiner. Andrea s explanation of the game was mostly chronological, she
occasionally forgot a part of the game, but always corrected herself for any confusion. Her speech was
fluent, though used the word like frequently. The slight overuse of the word could be attributed to her
age, rather than a reflection of her lexical diversity. Her descriptions of the game were spontaneous,
mostly fluid, and she was 100% intelligible. These observations suggest this sample was a valid
representation of Andrea s language abilities as the game required several complex explanations in
which she performed well.
Throughout the conversation, Andrea displayed a mastery of complex syntactic and morphological
form (mean length of utterance= 7.87) which is expected for her age. Of the 57 utterances examined,
Andrea only abandoned 10 utterances (accounting for only 17% of the sample), usually in favor of of
a clearer explanation of sequence of events or choice of words. Her mastery of semantics was not
displayed as appropriately (type token

My Favorite Name Essay
Everyone has a story. Some people can tell their lives, and it sounds like an adventurous packed
children s book. Others can tell their story and make it sound like an academy award winning romance
movie. Every story is Unique and special. My story, I would say, is a tale of hard work, ambition, and
love. When I pass, I will still have a story, a legacy in my name to live on. My full name is Haley
Anika Brazel. Every Single unique name in the word has a different meaning. Together my name
means a graceful and strifeful meadow of hay. My first name, Haley, comes from odd english and
means meadow of hay. My middle name, which is by far my favorite name is, Anika. Anika, comes
from latin origins and means graceful. My last name, comes from Irish origins, and means strife.
Anyone who knows me, will know, I am not very graceful and I am usually not strifeful. I am not
usually caught dancing or strolling through meadows of hay, so I would say my name strays from my
personality. By far, my favorite name is Anika. When I was a baby my mother asked my sister what I
should be named. My sister was only five at the time, so she picked a barbie princess she loved. My
mom liked the name so she named me Haley and made my middle name Anika. Since my sister has
passed, I take comfort in the fact, my middle name was given to me by her. If I would have been born
as a boy, my parents would have named me Conner. Conner is my little brothers name, so they did get
to use it eventually.

Global firms and governance, international monetary systems, forex markets, and market parities.
Global firms and governance:
1. How would you define and measure multinational corporations?
If the firm is operating facilities in multiple countries or it is controlling real assets in multiple
countries then the firm is called MNC. Multinational corporations can be measured by foreign ratios,
foreign sales, and foreign employee ratios by how many countries in which the firm has operations.

5. Discuss the extent to which the stakeholder governance model is applicable for U.S. firms?
6. *Japan has a lower ratio of stock market capitalization relative to GDP than the US. Provide two
reasons as to why this may be so. Interest rate and market valuations.
7. *Given the added political and economic risks that appear to exist overseas, are MNCs more or less
risky than purely domestic firms in the same industry?
MNCs are likely to be less risky than purely domestic firms because much of the risk faced overseas is
diversifiable.
International monetary systems
1. (ESM14, ch2 q1) Under the gold standard all national governments promised to follow the rules of
the game. This meant defending a fixed exchange rate. What did this promise imply about a country s
money supply?
Money supply was limited to the amount of gold held by a country s central bank. Any change in its
holdings of gold needed to be matched by a change in the number of local currency units outstanding.
2. (ESM14, ch2 q5) What are the advantages and disadvantages of the fixed exchange rate regime?
Advantages:
It provides stability in international prices for trading which reduces risk.

William Jorgensen, Jr., the second child of George William Jorgensen Sr., a carpenter and contractor,
and his wife, the former Florence Davis Hansen. She grew up in the Bronx and later described herself
as having been a frail, tow headed, introverted little boy who ran from fistfights and rough and tumble
games . She graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1945 and shortly thereafter was

By the end of her career, however, Lilly was earning less than any of the men in the same position.
Although she signed a contract with her employer that she would not discuss pay rates, just before
Ledbetter s retirement an anonymous individual slipped a note into her mailbox listing the salaries of
the men performing the same job. In spite of the fact that Ledbetter had received a Top Performance
Award from the company, she discovered that she had been paid considerably less than her male
counterparts. Ledbetter filed a formal complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunities
Commission and later initiated a lawsuit alleging pay discrimination. After filing her complaint with
the EEOC, Ledbetter, then in her 60s, was reassigned to such duties as lifting heavy tires. The formal
lawsuit claimed pay discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Equal Pay
Act of 1963. Although a jury initially awarded her compensation, Goodyear appealed the decision to
the United States Supreme Court. In 2007 the Supreme Court ruled on the Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire
Rubber Co. case. In a 5 4 decision, the court determined that employers cannot be sued under Title VII
of the Civil Rights Act if the claims are based on decisions made by the employer 180 days ago or
more. Due to the fact that Ledbetter s claim regarding her discriminatory pay was filed outside of that
time frame, she was not entitled to receive any

The Crisis Of The European Union
Inflation, crisis, recession, fear, unemployment rise, debt, and depression are some of the commonly
used phrases in relation to failing economies. There are many different factors that contribute to the
downfall of an economy, whether it be the political structure, the aftermath of a war, or the role of
government itself. A failing economy s severity can vary based on the specific country s situation. In
comparison to the world, there have been a few countries under the European Union that have
continually worsened economically through the years: Greece and Spain.
To understand the economic issues arising in Greece and Spain, one must have an understanding on
the basis of the European Union. The European Union (EU) came into existence on ... Show more

3). There have been a number of factors contributing to Greece s fiscal crisis both endogenous and
exogenous. When focusing on the endogenous causes of the fiscal crisis, there is no doubt that running
consistently widening public deficits in conjunction with declining external competitiveness played a
decisive role on the deteriorating fiscal stance of the Greek economy (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 394).
Greece s deficit has risen to 12.7%, which is more than four times higher than the European rules have
allowed (BBC News, 2010, para. 8). On the other hand, the main exogenous implication is the timing
of response. The Eurozone governments failed to give a clear signal indicating their readiness to
support Greece, while the Greek fiscal crisis was escalating, because many EU Member States were
unsure of how much assistance they could individually given to a country in financial difficulty
(Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 396). In addition, Greece has been facing problems with the underground
economy, which is also known as the shadow economy. The shadow economy focuses on criminal
activity, such as drugs sales, smuggling, gambling, etc. and focuses on legal transactions that are
conducted in cash and unreported to fiscal or other competent authorities (Katsios, 2006, 62). Greece
has been accountable for about 27 30% of the GNP for the underground economies in comparison to
various European countries (67). With all these financial issues going on in Greece, there is a

  • 2. NCIS Season 12 In a little more than two weeks, television s most watched show returns to our screens. NCIS has had quite the season last year as the team faced a dangerous mercenary, dealt with tough challenges in the character s private lives and ended with children being used by terrorists and Gibbs getting shot as a result. Before the show returns on September 22, it s time to look back at season 12 and look ahead to the new season. I will start this article with a brief recap of the main events of last season, then do a review of last season and finally I will look at the information we have for season 13. Recap of season 12 The first half of season 12 saw the team being hunted by Russian mercenary Sergei Mishnev. He first stirred trouble in the season premiere when he shot down a helicopter with Gibbs, McGee and a few others. Guided by the NCIS team in DC and Russian Counselor Anton Pavlenko, the teame made it through a tense hunt in the Russian forest. In the end, Gibbs shot Sergei, however, it turned out to be a non fatal gunshot and Sergei ends up on the NCIS most wanted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This resulted in a boy named Bradley nearly blowing up a bus, while Gibbs did his best to prevent another boy named Luke to get under the influence of The Calling. One of the group s leaders, Daniel Budd, later sets up a series of s mines at a hotel in Cairo, which killed NCIS Agent Ned Dorneget. This led to Dorneget s mother, CIA Officer Joanna Teague, joining NCIS to help take down The Calling. While they tracked down Sadiq Samar, another one of their leaders, The Calling took Luke to Iraq. When Gibbs, Joanna and Tony made the trip to Iraq to get Luke back, they didn t realize it was a trap. As Daniel called Tony to taunt him, Luke put two bullets in Gibbs leg and chest, ending season 12 on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Construct Validity Research The above examples provide evidence that a personality measurement can be examined through its reliability. A good personality test should have the same findings in different occasions (i.e. test retest reliability) and also all of the items in the test should be measuring the same thing (i.e. internal consistency). Nevertheless, personality measurement can be evaluated by its validity as well. Construct validity is one of the main subtypes of validity. Construct validity refers to the ability that a personality test measures what it is intended to measure. Discriminant validity is a subtype of construct validity, which refers to the extent that the concept that is not related to the test doesn t emerge in the test. Soto, C. J., John, O. P. (2009) tested the discriminant validity by comparing the BFI with the NEO PI R. They showed that the correlation between the BFI and NEO PI R facet scales has high discriminant validity. Each BFI facet scales correlated most with the corresponding NEO PI R facet scales than with the other NEO PI R facet. This research demonstrated that BFI is discriminant valid because it only correlates most with the corresponding items on the NEO PI R. Furthermore, McCrae and Costa, P. T. (2004) found that NEO Five Factory Inventory (NEO FFI) had high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this meta analysis, it included 4,378 MMPI and 1,793 the Rorschach articles. Then, the validity coefficients of the MMPI and the Rorschach Inkblot Test were compared. They found that the MMPI had the unweighted mean validity coefficients of .30 whereas the Rorschach had .29. The MMPI was more valid for studies using psychiatric diagnoses and self report. In contrast, the Rorschach Inkblot Test was more valid for the objective. With these words, Martha the main character in Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? showed her husband, George, that he was nothing. Edward Albee, the writer of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? talked mainly about Martha and George who pretend to have different identities just in order not to face reality. Moreover, Arthur Miller, the author of A View from the Bridge presented the idea of identity in a different way. Miller used the character Eddie to show how people s identities are constantly changing due to some changes in their lives. Modern playwrights question the idea of a definite identity. Edward Albee questions the idea of a definite identity through his character, Martha. At the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, Eddie told her: listen if everybody keeps his mouth shut, nothing can happen. They ll pay for their board. When he knew about Catherine falling in love with Rodolpho, he told Alfieri that he is going to call the immigration so he can keep Catherine just for him. Even though he knew that he is going to suffer for calling immigration, but does so anyway .Eddie: Give me the number if the Immigration Bureau. • 6. taking a Look at Infant Mortality Infant mortality is the death of a child that is less than one year of age. Infant mortality rates are measured by the number of deaths in infants per number of live births. Infants are usually up to that age of one year. The health outcomes of a pregnancy is mainly influenced by a woman s health. Other risk factors include race, ethnicity, age, and income. • 9. Psychological Factors Affecting Eyewitness Memory Whenever a crime takes place, eyewitnesses who are present on the scene can help the police or authorities when the crime is being investigated. However, eyewitness memory can be affected by a series of factors. One of the factors that can affect eyewitness memory is stress. Whenever a person witnesses a violent crime, his response is almost always one that generates a stressful response to the stressor imposed by the crime. This stressful response is the defensive response which is heavily studied by psychophysiologists (e.g., Klorman, Wiesenfeld Weissberg, 1977). This defensive reaction is the physiological response (increased blood pressure, muscle tone and acceleration in heart rate) resulting when attention control is highly dominant (Tucker and Williamson, 1984). These are: (1) a bias against stimulus change, (2) a tonic readiness for action, and (3) processing under tight attention controls. Some of the tasks that elicit the dominance of activation mode include activities which increase cognitive and/or somatic anxiety such as vigilance, escape, avoidance or pressure tasks (Deffenbacher, 1994). When assessing the effectiveness of a condition of heightened stress, it should be compared with another condition that is demonstrably lower in stress (or even free from stress), where the arousal mode of attention control is predominant (Tucker and Williamson, 1984). When the activation mode is dominant, there is a notable deceleration of heart rate and lowered blood pressure (Lacey and Laceym 1974). Deffenbacher (1994) concluded that if a task elicits the arousal mode of attention control, the memory will be enhanced for the most important and informative aspect of the ... Furthermore, this quote hints us about how responsible Miles will be of Alaska s death since he will always think of the fact she is dead and of what may have happened to her after it. Page 119: The quote which refers to Alaska s mom s death shows how young Alaska had been faced to this situation when she was eight years old. For all this time she has felt the guilt about it because she didn t get the reflex of calling the emergency number 911 in order to save her mother. Moreover, this event in her life may have a link with her death since she dies on the night that her mother died which is a January 10th and on that night, Alaska was on her way to visit her mom s grave. This shows that the guilt she felt may have had a consequence on an eventual suicide in order to join her mom on the other side. Everyone can agree with that, yet students know they must endure the long days and heavy workloads to further their education and stay out of trouble. Those who refuse to behave have no concept of the consequences of their disorderly actions. These students continually disrupt classrooms and prohibit others from receiving a full education. In addition to being a distraction, they can also pose a threat to the safety of their classmates. Alternative schools are a logical solution. For reasons unknown, some students simply cannot or choose not to behave during class. Caroleo opens her article, An Examination of the Risks and Benefits of Alternative Education , with the claim, One size education does not fit for all children and youth (35). It is true that blanket instruction does not work for most at risk students. A specialized educational setting results in an increase in supervision and guidance. Specialized settings lower the possibility of frequent outbursts; therefore, placement into a smaller class would benefit the disruptive student. In most alternative classrooms, the student teacher ratio is low. In a local alternative school hosted by New Brockton High School, the class roster rarely reaches above ten students. Smaller settings allow teachers the chance to minimize down time and focus on individuals. Increased one on one time allows students to find more productive outlets for their excess energy. In addition to being beneficial for the troublesome student, alternative schooling would allow other members of the class a productive environment in which to learn. Students outbursts are detrimental to not only the other students education but also the education of the delinquent as well. Placement into an alternative school will allow typical students to attend class uninterrupted and encourage the cause of distraction to focus on continuing their education. • 16. Taking a Look at the Bitcoin Problem Overview Since the creation of Bitcoin in 2009, cryptocurrencies have gained an increasing amount of media attention. Ever since Bitcoin first began trading, investors as well as miners have proclaimed the positive and negative aspects of the virtual currency, though the fluctuation in price of Bitcoin has been very difficult to determine. This research paper look analyzes some of the issues that must be addressed to ensure the future of Bitcoin. Introduction The first form of cyptocurrency, Bitcoins are the first type of digital currency that is both created and subsequently managed by cryptography, rather than a central authority (Kinsella 2013). The Bitcoin architecture was outlined in a research paper by Satoshi Nakamoto, which led to the creation of a decentralized network, allowing the peer to peer digital currency to be owned and traded (Smith 2013). After several years of development, Bitcoin was launched in 2009, and exists solely within the Block Chain (explained later). Creation of Bitcoins The architecture of Bitcoin utilizes a validation system, based on a sequence of recent transactions and numerical proofs of work, which are passed through an SHA 256 hashing algorithm (twice) (Smith 2013). The result of this is a block , which follows very precise mathematical criteria, and requires an exact numerical to solve. These required numericals are extremely difficult to calculate. When run off water runs into a water storage it will evaporate at some point in the future. Condensation Condensation is the process by which water vapor in the air is changed back in to liquid water. Condensation is crucial to the water cycle because is responsible for the formation of clouds. Precipitation The final step in the water cycle is precipitation. Precipitation is when water is released from clouds in the form of rain, acid rain, sleet, snow, or hail. It is the primary connection in the water cycle that provides for the delivery of atmospheric water to the earth. The most common type of precipitation is rain. Dramatizations of these tragedies tend to use detailed accounts of those effected by the catastrophe to create a somewhat accurate storyline, which often elicits some form of an emotional response from the viewers/readers. These accounts add an extra level of detail to a once nameless, faceless fact or figure. It allows the reader/viewer to visualize what was occurring at the time. They start to think what they would do, how they would feel or react if they were in that particular situation and that is when the emotions start to form inside the reader/viewer. • 23. Rhetorical Analysis Of Virginia Woolf Rhetorical Analysis Essay Woolf Alanna Kellam 1B In her memoir, Virginia Woolf discusses a valuable lesson learned during her childhood fishing trips in Cornwall, England. To convey the significance of past moments, Woolf incorporates detailed figurative language and a variety of syntax into her writing. Woolf communicates an appreciative tone of the past to the audience, emphasizing its lasting impact on her life. Woolf organizes her writing using various forms of syntax which contributes to the significance of the memory. The author s portrayal of the setting is recounted with long, detailed sentences in order to illustrate its importance. The excitement of fishing is depicted as Woolf retells Sometimes the lines would be handed to us; baited by gobbets cut from fish; and the line thrilled in one s fingers as the boat tossed and shot through the water (12 15). The author includes multiple semicolons not only to extend the sentence, but to also present similar ideas in a like structure. Notably, the author conveys tactile imagery to support the lengthy sentences with compelling details. The tossing of the boat and the touch of the fishing line embodies the exciting chaos the author had felt in the past. As a result, readers are then able to understand the specific attributes of Woolf s memory that made the experience significant. Additionally, Woolf further develops the impact of her excitement as she describes ...and then how can I convey the excitement? there was a little leaping tug... (15 17). Again, lengthy sentence structure helps to connect the images of her memory. The dashes communicate to readers a sense of the author s internal thoughts, as if she was writing all that was on her mind. The dashes outline changes in the flow of the language, so that readers can note clearly defined shifts. They also symbolize the vividness of her memories, therefore the significance of the events in her situation. Unique from the majority of the sentences, Woolf includes declarative structure as she states It was a perfect lesson (25). The line stands out to the readers, amongst the other sentences, because of its length, which is intended to convey an idea directly. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At this particular stage, it is impossible for governmental entities to effectively regulate each and every instance of health care service. This facet is particularly true for cases of international health care services. There are several different types of health care services provided for international travelers. The lack of effective regulation of these services can actually aid a number of different consumers in different ways. For instance, the entity known as Traveler s Health can potentially aid consumers by awarding health services and benefits to those who are not American citizens. The services and products of this entity are supposed to be exclusively reserved for U.S. citizens. If individuals can falsify documents to fake their status as an American, they can then claim some of these benefits. Also, in instances in which there are American travelers who have been overseas for a substantial length of time, once their paperwork and credentials expire, they would no longer be eligible to receive these services. A regulatory oversight of this fact would enable such travelers (or expatriates in this instance) to continue to receive these benefits. Another purpose of this particular entity is to promote the clinical practice of travel medicine (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011). Legitimate U.S. citizens who qualify for the attainment of such medicine could potentially acquire it and supply it to locals if there were oversight in regulations in ... This being said, the lighting, makeup, costumes, setting and props are all key factors of Mise en scene. The setting in a film creates a sense of place, a mood, and may also reflect a character s emotional state. It can be entirely fabricated within a studio just like Rear Window or it may also be found and filmed on location. Perhaps the most easily visible aspect of mise en scene is costume. Costume can include both makeup or wardrobe choices that are used to convey a character s temperament or status, and to suggest these differences between characters. Lighting is a huge part of filmmaking. Lights are what a cinematographer uses to paint a set. They use lighting changes to help define characters, create a setting, or to portray how that character is feeling. In the next few paragraphs, I will point out all the cinimatograpgy of the Mise en scene from the clips from The Godfather and Rear Window. The opening sequence of Rear Window is a curtain raiser... literally. it opens with the camera on the inside of J.B Jefferies(Jeff) s Livingroom in his apartment. The credits are shown on the scene of a window in jeffs apartment, while the blinds on the window behind them are slowly raised. The camera makes a brief stop at the ladder against the apartment building before it slowly tilts upwards (almost as if its were climbing the ladder!) the camera then stops at the upper apartment balcony where a small family can be seen getting ready. When focusing on the endogenous causes of the fiscal crisis, there is no doubt that running consistently widening public deficits in conjunction with declining external competitiveness played a decisive role on the deteriorating fiscal stance of the Greek economy (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 394). Greece s deficit has risen to 12.7%, which is more than four times higher than the European rules have allowed (BBC News, 2010, para. 8). On the other hand, the main exogenous implication is the timing of response. The Eurozone governments failed to give a clear signal indicating their readiness to support Greece, while the Greek fiscal crisis was escalating, because many EU Member States were unsure of how much assistance they could individually given to a country in financial difficulty (Kouretas, Vlamis, 2010, 396). In addition, Greece has been facing problems with the underground economy, which is also known as the shadow economy. The shadow economy focuses on criminal activity, such as drugs sales, smuggling, gambling, etc. and focuses on legal transactions that are conducted in cash and unreported to fiscal or other competent authorities (Katsios, 2006, 62).
