Amendment 11 Title:   Limiting Federal Courts Year Ratified:  1798 Purpose: Says the people can’t sue the states; they have sovereign immunity
Amendment 12 Title:   Election of President and Vice President Year Ratified: 1804 Purpose: Said that the President and Vice President are elected on one ballot The 12 th  Amendment says we have to run on the same ballot! Amendment 13 Title: The Abolition of Slavery Year Ratified: 1865 Purpose: Abolishment of Slavery and Indentured Servitude
Amendment 14 Title:   Civil Rights Guaranteed Year Ratified: 1868 Purpose: Says states may not restrict citizen rights granted at the Federal level
Amendment 15 Title: Votes for Freedmen Year Ratified: 1870 Purpose: Says the Federal nor state governments can prevent a citizen from voting for race related reasons
Amendment 16 Title: The Income Tax Year Ratified: 1913 Purpose: Says Congress may impose an Income Tax
Amendment 17 Title: Popular Election of Senators Year Ratified: 1913 Purpose: Said that Senators would be elected directly by the people of each state
Amendment 18 Title: Prohibition Year Ratified: 1919 Purpose: Said the consumption, production, and sale of alcohol was prohibited
Amendment 19 Title: Votes for Women Year Ratified: 1920 Purpose: Says the Federal nor state governments can prevent a citizen from voting for reason of sex
Amendment 20 Title: Terms of the President and Congress Year Ratified: 1933 Purpose: Sets specific dates for the start and end of the terms of the offices for President, Vice-President, and Congress
Amendment 21 Title:   Repeal of Prohibition Year Ratified: 1933 Purpose: Repealed the 18th Amendment; states could now decide whether to allow alcoholic consumption
Amendment 22 Title: Presidential Terms Year Ratified: 1951 Purpose: Says a President can serve for only two 4 year terms 4 Years + 4 Years = Enough Years
Amendment 23 Title: Voting in the District of Columbia Year Ratified: 1961 Purpose: Says the citizens of the nations capitol have the right to vote
Amendment 24 Title: The Poll Tax Year Ratified: 1964 Purpose: Says the government can’t prevent you from voting if you don’t pay your taxes, and says they can’t charge you a tax to vote
Amendment 25 Title: Disability of the President Year Ratified: 1967 Purpose: Defines the chain of command when the President is killed or cannot serve  2 3
Amendment 26 Title: Lowering the Voting Age Year Ratified: 1971 Purpose:   Voting age lowered from 21 to 18
Amendment 27 Title: Congressional Pay Raises Year Ratified: 1993 Purpose: A law that changes the pay of a member of Congress does not take effect until the next election
