Wystone's World Teas in the Belmar district of Lakewood,
Colorado. It is not just that she sells organic food but that
the whole process of choosing place, creating space, and
building a community by being a part of a com m unity is
organic. Wy chose to open her tea shop in a town t hat
once cent ered on a tumbled-down shopping mall w ith
roving gangs. She was looking for a place that gave her a
sense of belonging, like a nest-a nurturing environment.
W hen Wy was looking for a place that reflected her
ideals and gave her energy, she wanted a place where
peop le work, live, and play. She wanted a constant
stream of cust omers-people who would stop by as part
of their daily rout ine. She understood that communities
need gathering places-coffee shops, tea houses, bars,

She wanted to be a part of people's lives on a personal
and daily level. When she found the Belmar district, she
