Obesity is ranked second among preventable causes of death. About 70% of
American adults are either overweight or obese. Being obese or overweight puts the
host at a higher risk for health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and much
more (Alonso Alonso). When I found out about this jaw dropping information, I
decided to take action and I made it my goal to maintain a low body fat percentage
over the course of two weeks (I will be sharing my experience further down the
road). Because of an elevated mood, aesthetic improvements, health benefits, and my
positive experience, obtaining low bodyfat percentage is very beneficial.
To begin, having a low bodyfat percentage is beneficial because it has the ability to
boost self esteem. Losing excess weight can make you feel better both physically

About the Art of Persuasion is a title written by the not so famous, (but extremely
well versed) Jay Heinrichs. Although the title is indeed a mouthful, it serves its
purpose in drawing the reader in. Also; the extremely long title is a little hint of what
Heinrichs entails in his book, an endless supply of information on how to correctly
and influentially utilize rhetoric, the art of persuasion.
The book is divided into five sections, each one being subdivided into different
strategies on how to use rhetoric to your advantage, in any given situation.

She interprets that the tape is actually of a murder, because of the way he refers to it,
thus scaring her into a panic. Although this wasn t the way he envisioned for her
mood to alter, it still did.
The next section is titled Defense. It goes over logical fallacies, their downfalls, how
to spot them, and much more. Such as, the Seven Deadly Sins of rhetoric, and the
defensive tools of practical wisdom.
A fallacy, by definition, is an argument that uses poor reasoning. Before one uses a
fallacy, it s important to have full understanding or else you risk losing your whole
ethos aspect of your argument. Heinrichs gives three important parts to detecting
fallacies. All you have to do is look for a bad proof, the wrong number of choices, or
a disconnect between the proof and the conclusion. (Heinrichs 146)
The following two sins are Tautology and False Choice. Tautology just repeats the
premise, or principle of the argument. The example given was Fan: The Cowboys
are favored to win since they are the better team. (Heinrichs 155) Fundamentally,
tautology is the same thing that gets repeated in different words. Next, we have
False Choice. False choice is the many questions fallacy, in which two or more
issues are mixed into one. A related fallacy, the false dilemma, offers the audience

Two girls born into the same era of American history: despite their vast similarities,
what makes these two independent and value driven young women so different?
Since they were living in the same country, many would think that their upbringings
would be parallel. On the surface, the only differences between the two girls were
their geographic location and their skin color, but during the nineteenth century these
actually made a drastic difference in the every day lives of young women. The
juxtaposition of the lifestyles of these two young women illuminate the differences
which stem from factors such as family, work, education, and religion. These
aspects of life were results of the experiences Harriet Jacobs faced as a Southern
slave girl in contrast with Harriet Hanson Robinson s presence in the industrial
revolution as a mill girl in New England. Family is generally at the core of a person
s life, because they are the people who introduce you to the world and essentially
show you how to think. In the case of the two Harriet s, experiences with their
families differed due to day to day priorities as well as the amount of freedom each

first language was not English, what was it? What has prepared you for this level

left for her, they were the cure to being pretty minded . She shared the pills with

Furthermore, as Chiemi Kan and a team of researchers discovered in a
psychological study published by the International Society of Behavioral Medicine,
social class or socioeconomic status (SES), indexed by constructs such as education

The Setting Sun opens on the rather normal scene of Kazuko eating breakfast with
her mother in their country home, and the two have a conversation centered
around Naoji and their fears of his demise (Dazai, 9). Kazuko, in an attempt to
comfort her mother, quips that only good people die early, and because he is such
a scoundrel, Naoji is not dead. The focus is placed on Kazuko by her mother,
however, who jokes that she will therefore die an early death, but Kazuko responds
seriously with, Why should I? I m bad and ugly both (Dazai, 10). She is explicitly
unsatisfied with her personal behavior and appearance, indicating a severely low self
esteem linked to her failure to behave like her mother, the perfect aristocratic woman.

He was going to relocate the eastern tribes beyond the Mississippi River. Another
President of the United States, James Monroe, wrote a letter to Andrew Jackson
that stated, I have long viewed treaties with the Indians an absurdity not to be

1830, seven years later the Chickasaw were removed. In 1836 the Creek were

Cincinnatus was chosen to be dictator of Rome in 457 B.C.E. Cincinnatus was

technologies that largely involve materials of sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nm. These
minute materials may display distinct characteristics as compared to the same

increased surface area, these nanomaterialsmay exhibit unique properties like
enhanced strength, flexibility, reactivity, or improved electrical conductivity and

environmental health and safety (EHS) risk management system for nanoscale
particles. Therefore, an accurate determination of EHS risks of nanomaterials could
be achieved by understanding nanoparticle interaction with other systems as well as
integrating nanomaterials hazard and exposure datasets.
Since nanoscale particles are orders of magnitude smaller than many larger organic
molecules which are transported through cellular membranes and barriers, these
particles are not subjected to the same degree of regulation and thus have far more
potential to enter cells and tissues to cause damage. Nanoparticles can indeed exhibit

Rap music led to more black professionals in the music industry. Rap can be traced
back to its African roots. Before rap stories were told rhythmically over drums and

in the world. Hotels where each guest may easily fancy himself as prince
surrounded by a flock of courtiers (Sherman, 2007, p. 26) are being required more

consumer interest for the luxury hospitality industry grew 7.7% in one year.

figure often covered with tattoos, piercings, and maybe even a bald headed guy.
One might think that gangs only occur in areas like Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and
areas illustrated in movies. Gangs are also becoming more glorified in the media.
For example, while listening to a rap song on the radio, some sort of gangreference

Once you re in, there are only two ways to get out: by dying or running (Martinez
Pg 33). Therefore, sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be
involved or to continue being involved in gangs because they have the fear of being
murdered. Sometimes the fear of being left out pressures them into getting involved
in gangs, and they end up leading a violent lifestyle. Since gangs are typically
associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer pressure to join a gang
due to fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats, to even

They may be trying to escape a negative home life, or may be looking for a father
figure. Gangs often make promises to give unconditional support and to become

family issues they are experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in
their home. Gangs are often seen in areas where poor living conditions occur and

Diabetes Mellitus in Women
Diabetes has been established to be more precarious for women, as it can augment
pregnancy complications such as macrosomia, miscarriage, and birth defects. Women
with diabetes also have a higher prevalence of secondary cardiovascular disease.
Among those women who continue in the spiral of diabetes complications, ischemic
heart disease is an even greater complication which will reduce survival and quality
of life (Beckles and Thompson Reid, 2011). Pregnant women diagnosed with
gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have a higher risk of developing type 2
diabetes later in their lifetime. It has been proven that an average of 25 percent of
pregnant women with GDM will be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes within an
average of seven years (Sokup, Ruszkowska Ciatec, Walentowicz, Grabiec Rose,
2014). In such women, blood glucose and triglyceride levels must be monitored
closely, and appropriate action and referrals are given if needed for proper disease
management.
