the two methods, formalism.
With this method of formalism we compare form and style, analyzing only the purely visual
aspects such as color, line, shape and texture of an object or artwork. Two formalist individuals
worth mentioning are Immanuel Kant and Clive Bell. Kant who teaches us the importance of the
disinterested viewer, and Bell who also explains this. Bell states in his article The Aesthetic

Graduation By, Maya Angelo, is a wonderful story of an excited young African American young
adult graduating from middle school. The whole town of Stamps, Arkansas was buzzing with
excitement for the classes that were graduating from the grammar school and high school that
spring. People that have already graduated were even excited to help with the preparation for
graduation. Angelo went into detail about how, teachers were respectful of the now quiet and

learning in writing of 70 Iranian learners. Learners were randomly divided into two groups, both

most explicit elaboration device. A time limit was conducted for learners to read the text, in the

Leaf Disks: The Rise from Bottom to Top
ABSTRACT
This experiment demonstrates the effects of pH on the rate of photosynthesis by examining the
behavior of leaf disks in different pH solutions under light. In this experiment, we used five
different pH levels: pH 5, pH 6, pH 7, pH 8 and pH 9. These solutions were created using a
combination of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide. Spinancia olcerea or spinach, leaves were
used in the experiment to examine the effects of pH on the rate of photosynthesis. The rate of
photosynthesis was measured by counting the number of leaf disks that rose to the surface of the
solution after each minute. In acidic solutions, the rate of photosynthesis increased while in basic
solutions, the rate of photosynthesis decreased.

DEFINING THE PROBLEM AND SELECTING VARIABLES The intention of this experiment is
to determine the effects of pH on the rate of photosynthesis in living leaves. Photosynthesis is a
process by which plants convert light energy captured from the sun into chemical energy which
