The Beginning of Separate BUT Equal Introduction On June 7th, 1892, Homer
Plessy paid for and rode the East Louisiana Railway from New Orleans to
Covington. He paid for first class and was riding alongside white counterparts.
This may seem like a harmless ordeal to some, but a key fact is missing. Homer
Plessy was an octoroon , meaning he was one eighth black. Under Louisiana law,
people of color were forced to sit separately from whites due to the Separate Car Act.
Even though Plessy was only one eighth black, he was still considered a person of
color and was forced to move into a separate accommodation. Homer Plessy,outraged,
refused to comply and was imprisoned. Plessy then filed a complaint against the state
of Louisiana claiming that the reason for his arrest went against the Fourteenth
Amendment. While on trial, Judge John Howard Ferguson decided that the state of
Louisiana could choose to regulate railroad companies that operated only within the
state , thus finding Plessy guilty of his refusal to leave the white accommodation.

One thing I recently realized from the Bible was that Jesus Christ preached the
Gospel and healed the sick at the same time. Preaching and healing are inseparable
in His ministry. I used to consider my calling is preaching the Word of God, sharing
His love with others and glorifying God through my life. Healingministry was not on
the list of my calling. Actually, I had a skeptical view in healing, so tend to limit
the power of miraculous healing, which could happen only in a special occasion.
Personally, I have not experienced the power of healing prayer even though I
continually pray for the sick. With having that said, my prayer for the sick was more
like pastoral care to give them comforts in their hearts rather than having a great
expectation of healing.
However, Jesus has reasons to bring healing to the people, which I newly learned
from this class. There is an intimate relationship between healing and the Kingdom of
God. In Jesus ministry, healing the sick plays a part of primary importance. Forty

people who were physically and mentally ill, demonized, and dead with word and

ARDT Response With fall breezes in the air individuals storm into Morgan Hall to
witness the much anticipated ARDT dance performance. After having much focus
on plays, it was refreshing to experience a different form of artistic expression. The
dancers were able to keep my attention from start to finish, and the show proved to
be my favorite production thus far. The performances were obviously well rehearsed
and put together. Throughout the show I paid close attention to facial expression, the
fluidity of movement, and the overall message of the performance. With these
critiques in mind the opening lyrical piece entitled Point of Contact from the first
half, and the final lyrical piece entitled Falling from the second half were my favorite
pieces. Danceis a form of expression that relies heavily of the facial expressions of
the dancers. I took dance for many years up until I was 14. Lyrical and jazz were my

demonstrates several types of individuals which a society holds. For instance,
there is the independent type of character, they are the ones who do not like to go
with the flow. In the story, it was portrayed by one of the main characters named
Mirabella, the youngest among fifteen girls. Another, are those types that go along
with the norms, they are the individuals who generally do what the society
approves of, and no qualms associating with others. It was exemplified by another
main character, Jeanette, the girl who easily adopted the human ways. Lastly, those
who lies in the middle, these are the types of people whose eyes are open and could

classes propelled me to choose this story, which led me to analyze and restate for
