Consequences of Passion Exposed in The Romance of Tristan...
Consequences of Passion Exposed in The Romance of Tristan and Iseult
The story of Tristan and Iseult celebrates the triumph of adultery. When looking vaguely at this
romance, readers may think the potion of love that they both drink is the one that makes them to
commit adultery. However, this is only a representation of the power of passion and lust Tristan and
Iseult have for each other.
To better understand this love story, one must realize that Tristan is a marshal hero who volunteers to
take a battle against the King of Ireland, in order to redeem the people and the monarch of King Mark.
It would therefore, be suitable to say that King Mark has given his nephew the trust to accomplish the
mammoth exercise. In Ireland, Tristan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This is where the story of Tristan and Iseult takes a twist because the reader knows enough that
Tristan, if given the chance, would like to have Iseult for himself. It is fascinating therefore, when
Iseult s mother entrusts Tristan with the potion of love that should only be shared between King Mark
and Iseult. By this time, Tristan and Iseult have developed passion in each other, and the potion they
would drink only enhances the chemistry that is already existent. To not drink the potion, which
Tristan knows would cause Iseult to love him even more, is attempting to remain dishonest to his true
self. Tristan is not just an ordinary man; he is a war hero seducing the would be queen of Cornwall.
Because of this predicament, Iseult as the wife to the king is to engage in adulterous affair with Tristan
to reinforce the courtly love value, while Tristan gains access to Iseult through chivalrious prowess.
The potion of wine therefore, serves as a big temptation for both, and the Christian ideal that is forced
into the situation by the hermit stands as an experiment.
How then can all these three values be reconciled in this story? I think it is not only the flaw displayed
by medieval people like Tristan to succumb to the temptation of fulfilling sexual desires. The concept
of eat, drink and be merry comes into play in this story and quite evidently, even in our contemporary
society, we have not

Jerry Mcilmoyle And The Cuban Missile Crisis
Jerry McIlMoyle had a strange feeling. Something in the back of his mind, niggling away, said You
need to get out of here. That premonition was right. McIlmoyle (pilot) was toward the end of a
mission flying over Cuba in the middle of the Cuban Missile Crisis (dates). He piloted his U 2 plane
over the lush island, in search of the sites of surface to air missiles the Soviets were suspected install.
He heard the whir and click of the camera on his plane, so he turned around. In the sky, he saw two
condensation trails contrails from what looked like (missles). Was I shot at? he wondered, as he
banked the plane around for a better look. His camera caught the shot of the two contrails. The answer
two his question was, frightening, yes. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within three hours, all of the photographs McIlmoyle secured were under review at (where). The next
day, a three star general paid a visit to the base. Nothing showed up on the film. You were not fired
upon, the general told McIlmoyle. He couldn t believe his ears. McIlmoyle knew he d seen the
contrails, seen the missiles explode. General, missles were shot at my plane, McIlmoyle said. Again,
the response was the same: The cameras on McIlmoyle s plane caught only the sites of the (surface to
air missiles) nothing more. (political implications quote/cover up) McIlMoyle s mission came in the
midst of the Cuban Missle Crisis, a 13 day, Cold War standoff between the United States and the
Soviet Union that put both nations within a hair s breadth of nuclear war. His story is among several
told in the book Above and Beyond, by (authors names). (Little known facts) During an infamous
thirteen day stretch of October 1962, America faced the prospect of imminent nuclear war with the
Soviet Union. Two things saved humanity: the strategic wisdom of John F. Kennedy, and the U 2
aerial spy program. Above and Beyond tells the story of the Cuban Missile Crisis through the eyes of
the pilots that launched out of McCoy Air Force Base in

Hamlet And Ophelia Character Analysis
In the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, the complexity of Hamlet s relationship with Ophelia is a
inconclusive subplot to the overarching idea of the play. After the tragic murder of Hamlet s father,
Hamlet is overcome with his desire for revenge, which is evident throughout his interactions with
characters. A character most affected is Ophelia, who is in conflict over their relationship, one that
eventually leads to her tragic downfall. Hamlet and Ophelia s relationship was at one point a intimate
and loving relationship; however, Hamlet s revenge schemes suppresses and overshadows those
feelings of love, eventually leading to the tragic deaths of the two lovers. Hamlet and Ophelia had
strong feelings of love for each other, which is displayed throughout their interactions with one
another. After Ophelia s death, Hamlet displays his true feelings for Ophelia by saying I loved
Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers/Could not with all their quantity of love/Make up my sum. What wilt
thou do for her? (5.1.). Hamlet s words in the quote display an enduring, everlasting love, suggesting
that their relationship was meaningful and real. Hamlet would have done anything for Ophelia and
Ophelia likewise, emphasizing a relationship with strong feelings of love and affection. Hamlet and
Ophelia had a serious and committed relationship as Ophelia said You promised me to wed. /He
answers: So would I a done, by yonder sun (4.5.). The extent of their relationship was a very intense

John F Kennedy Jfk Assassination Influence
J.F.K blown away, what else do I have to say? This is a lyric from the song We didn t the fire by Billy

Brookline, Massachusetts, on May 29, 1917. Kennedy s parents Joseph Kennedy, Sr. and Rose

Kennedy said this in his inaugural speech as he was sworn in as the 35th president on January 20,

enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself. The Kennedys brought a new joyful spirit
into the white house that day, they thought the white house was a place to learn and celebrate
American history and rightfully so. On November 21, 1963, President Kennedy flew to Dallas Texas
for a campaign appearance. The next day (November 22) Kennedy was driving with his wife, along
with Texas governor John Conn ally, they rode through cheering crowds and up and down roads in a
Lincoln Continental convertible. 24 year old former Marine Harvey Oswald was in a upstairs window

The Flaws and Shortcomings of African Historiography Essay
The Flaws and Shortcomings of African Historiography
History is formed through a combination of personal experiences, psychological state, personal
objectives, relation with the interviewer, position in society and many other factors that cannot be
scientifically monitored and accounted for. Thus, no historian has been able to filter through the many
layers they need to in order to arrive at an accurate account of history. What personal narratives and
life histories provide are numerous examples of the complexities and ambiguities that accompany any
reconstruction of African history. Each account of history does not offer a different perspective from
which one may view a particular event or time, simply because no two accounts have ... Show more

Relationships Between Interviewer and Subject:
As recognition and acceptance of the subjects ability to hold back and alter information increased, so
did historians emphasis on the quality of the relationship between interviewer and interviewee. For
example, Bozzoli made a point of reducing the physical and ethnical variations between interviewer
and interviewee. In order to increase the comfort level of the subject, and in turn, get more honest and
personal information, Bozzoli used female interviewers with racial and ethnic ties to the subject
whereas Mbilinyi had a much more direct approach. Alagoa, Bozzoli, and

The International Organization For Migration
The migration crisis has reached a level where Europe must take a stand and must present a viable
plan, expressing the future goals the European government believes will help solves this crisis. The
International Organization for Migration said, between January and November 2015 more than
750,000 migrants are predicted to arrive in Europe from across the Mediterranean. As a union, Europe
is showing the world that they are not a cohesive organization prepared to face the future with respects
to the mass migration. The policy concerning migration at the European Union level states that each
nation has the right to their own migration policies, while adhering to the European migration
institutions, which are not fully established. So far, many of the migrants coming to Europe are
settling in Italy and Greece; many hope to be able to reach Germany as their final destination. The
important underlining problem is the fact that these migrants are arriving and staying in Italy and
Greece. Both Italy and Greece are going through an economic crisis that cannot sustain the migrants
that are landing within their borders; they are asking the European Union to give them relief, by
imposing quotas to redistribute the migrants to other European nations that are a part of the migration
policy. The migrant crisis also brings insecurity to nations such as Italy and Greece because of they are
not prepared to deal with the amount of people entering in their borders. Not all European countries

Honor Society Application
I made my decision to attend Bishop State Community College after high school because it was
important to my parents and myself to have a great transition from high school to college at a gradual
pace; with the goal of eventually transferring to an university. I was extremely focus on finding a
career that match my passion in the areas of sciences and the years I would like to spend on my
education. I never gave a thought about looking into honor societies at my college. In fact, I did not
think I had the qualification to be invited to join any honor society; for Instant, I assume I had to have
a large resume of volunteering and had the assumption that my grade point average had to be higher
than a 3.5 grade point average.I also mistakenly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

program. We also had available though Phi Theta Kappa s website, informational college tools for
students to help decide what type of school to transfer that will fit our two year pre requirement track
and our declared degree. My best experience with my honor society is that I finally was able to narrow
my list and decided from my love of physics and anatomy, that I should declare radiology as my major
upon transferring. My most memorable experience that will forever stay with me, was the day my
chapter advisor invited me to Phi Theta Kappa International convention in 2012 in
Nashville,Tennessee. Members who attended the four day long Honors Institute and Leadership
Conference were treated to educational forums, presentations on a variety of topics, and special guest.
We were welcomed by the international officers and Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director. From that
moment on, I knew the event would change my life. It felt empowering to be surrounded with students
from more than 1,200 chapter members from each state in the United States, U.S. Territories, British
Virgin Islands, Marshall Island, Canada, Germany, Federal States of Micronesia, United Arab
Emirates, Republic of Palau, and Peru. It was the empowerment of knowing I have endless choices of
Universities and colleges after my completion of community college and to know that their are other
student like myself who also decided to take the route of community college; not because they did not
do well in high school or previous colleges, but their choice of community college was for the purpose
of the reasonable cost of tuition, and having a moderate pace of learning new objective and lesson

Why I Chose To Go To College
I am determined and ambitious, but if you are expecting a more formal introduction, I am Winter
Noelle Grant. I hail from a small, yet developing city in north Louisiana called Shreveport. I am a
rising sophomore and biology major at Fisk University. Though I am indecisive about my future
professional goals within my major, one goal that has remained consistent for the past fifteen years is
my desire of becoming a professional dancer; preferably a National Football League cheerleader.
When I graduate from Fisk, I have high hopes of being accepted into a graduate program, dental
school, or medical school and starting a non profit organization specifically for minority, high school
females. In the future, I plan on either specializing in pediatric dentistry or becoming a pediatrician. I
have an immeasurable passion for children and the wellness of others, so being able to heal others is
rewarding. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going to college after completing my secondary education was never a questionable decision. My
mother was a first generation college student, mother at the age of fourteen, and had been married,
divorced, a mother of three girls, and earned a Master s degree all by the age of thirty three. Being an
educator and certified counselor, my mother soon realized how powerful education was and how
detrimental higher education is later in life. Because of the nine year age gap between my eldest sister
and I , I often found myself touring college campus at an early age. I have always been intrigued with
school and soon grew fond of the sciences and math, even though I tend to excel academically in the
art and language department. I often times find myself amazing in the complexity of the human body

Groundwater Chemistry In Groundwater Pollution
Introduction The groundwater chemistry is controlled by rock water interaction, dissolution of mineral
species and anthropogenic activities (Faure, 1998; Subba Rao,2001; Umar and Absar 2003). The
potability of water is also affected by over exploitation of groundwater which ultimately gives rise to
severe problem. Anthropogenic influences like domestic sewages, industrial effluents and chemical
fertilizers also deteriorate groundwater quality (Vasanthavigar et al. 2012). Variations in water quality
and its suitability for domestic and irrigation purposes have also been examined by Alam (2013);
Kumar et al (2009); Jalali (2007) and Umar et al (2007).
Fluoride, an essential component for human health, is obtained mostly by drinking water but it
becomes toxic when its concentration exceeds the permissible limit (Handa 1975; USPHS 1987;
WHO 1984). A concentration of fluoride less than 0.6 mg/l may results in dental carries, while greater
than 1.2 mg/l results in fluorosis (ISI 1983). Problem of excessive fluoride in groundwater was first
highlighted by Short et al. (1937) in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh and today more than 65
million people, including 6 million children, are affected by endemic fluorosis in 20 states of India as
a result of consuming high fluoride water (Gupta et al. 2006) and Uttar Pradesh is one of those states
(Jha et al. 2010).

Barnes Noble s Mission Statement
Barnes Noble was created by Charles Barnes and opened the first store in 1917 in New York City.
Barnes Noble is the largest retail bookseller and a leading retailer of digital media and educational

operate the best omni channel specialty retail business in America, helping both our customers and
booksellers reach their aspirations, while being a credit to the communities we serve (Booksellers,
2012). When I walked into Barnes Noble, it gave me a home like environment. Their shelves hold 20
to 200 thousand titles of books. Groups of couches and chairs are placed throughout the store to sit in
while reading books and magazines. I feel like they wanted to give the store a home feeling as if you
were just sitting in your own home reading a book. I know when I started to walk around the store it
made me feel like I was at home. As I started to look around at books, I noticed a couch. I went and
sat down for a bit, overviewing the book. Another feature I noticed about the store was people on their

What Causes Eczema Essay
This article was a study of components that can potentially cause eczema to flare up . By this it means
that the person breaks out more in an itchy rash often in patches. Eczema is defined as the
inflammation of the skin that causes the skin to be dry and often times itchy. Many people have this
skin disease and there are many factors, environmentally that can affect it negatively. The factors that
were observed in this study were: clothing, temperature, humidity, sweating, pollen levels, exposure to
the sun, dust, unfamiliar pets, shampoo, and swimming. In this study, sixty children were used to be
observed for an extended period of time for 6 9 months while being exposed to these certain factors
that may cause their eczema to flare up. They used daily logging on electronic diaries to determine
their daily exposure to these factors and how their eczema reacted in regards to itchiness or how much
it bothered them and how much they scratched. The temperature, humidity, pollen levels were
determined and recorded from different scientific areas. The amount of exposure to the sun and the
other outdoor elements were logged by the parents. As well as the amount of sweat that was perspired

The Arab-Israeli Struggle During The 50 Years War
This documentary tells the story of the Arab Israeli struggle in the 50 Years War.
It begins by explaining conditions in Palestine at the end of World War 2 and the crisis created by the
exodus of European Jews who went to the Middle East after the Holocaust.
The withdrawal of the British who controlled Palestine for three decades is seen as the creation of the
states of Israel. The U.N s decision to partition Palestine in 1947 ensured
50 years of animosity, warfare, and negotiation. The film follows the development of the
Palestinian Liberation Organization as well as the Arabs struggle for statehood in 1948 and 1967.

A Brief Note On Coronary Artery Disease Prevention
Coronary artery bypasses surgery, percutaneous angioplasty stent, aspirin use, cholesterol lowering
therapies, and increased awareness of coronary artery disease prevention are the main strategies for
the preventive treatment of SCD [166]. As the main etiology behind coronary artery ischemia is the
plaque rupture, methods to prevent plaque rupture, plaque stabilization, decreasing plaque formation
and searching risk markers for sudden plaque rupture should be discovered. The role of cholesterol in
SCD have been studied in many studies and there are both kind of results, some suggesting its
significant role [39, 167] while other without any significant role [83].Low density lipoprotein (LDL)

This different expression of cell cycle regulatory proteins may be responsible for apoptosis of vascular
smooth muscle cell and plaque destabilization [171]. Rao et al studied the mechanism of plaque
rupture in carotids and proposed the mechanism by which EGFR activation induced MMP 1 and MMP
9 decreases the interstitial collagen causing plaque instability and increased vulnerability of plaque
rupture, paving a future direction for translational approach of this concept for the prevention of
myocardial infarction. It was also proposed that for plaque stabilization, selective blockade of EGFR
and MMP 9 may be a promising strategy [172]. Identification of specific markers indicating a plaque
prone to rupture and risk predictors for plaque rupture is an interesting area for further research.
Currently we are working on the role of HMGB 1, RAGE, ENRAGE, TLR 4, TREM 1, TREM 2,
MMP 1 and MMP 9 in plaque stability and destabilization in carotid artery. Acute unstable

The Production Of The Montara Oil Spill
Mans continued reliance on fossil fuels such as coal and oil has driven the expansion and exploration
for oil reserves in many of the worlds oceans including the coast of Western Australia. Whilst there is
a strong push toward greener cleaner energy sources, the fossil fuel industry continues to draw on the
support of the Australian Government and others, principally, due to the economic benefits and
financial rewards for all. Australia has become extremely reliant on both imported and local sources of
oil to fuel both commercial and private sectors. Local sources can be found in the ocean off the north

successfully able to stabilise the leak by pumping mud into the well more than 2.5 kilometers below

working at the oil rig during that time was seriously injured, though the same cannot be said for the

therefore causing the Montara oil spill to be known as one of Australia s top environmental disasters.
It is only when disasters like these strike and the damage is already done that people choose to either
take action as they fully begin to understand the level of devastation we are causing the earth or
choose to turn a blind eye and continue along their destructive path, ignoring that of not only the needs

Architecture In The Renaissance
The Renaissance period, which was the connecting period from the Middle Ages to modern history,
was considered a cultural movement, which introduced different perspectives on arts and culture. The
Renaissance lasted from the 15th century to the early 17th century. Throughout the Renaissance, many
aspects of life started to change, including the way civilization perceived theaters. Everything that
civilization had known about theaters was stretched and changed drastically, including theater
architecture. Architecture remains to be an integral part of maintaining a statement, especially theater
architecture. Architecture is a perfect representation of the difference in times and periods of historical

forms of academic theaters and for his design and usage of the scanae frons. He adapted a chapter
from Vitruvius s De Architecture, a chapter based on theater architecture. He was also well known for
leading to the popularization of the form of medieval staging in which the back of a wide but shallow
raised stage was composed of either a straight line colonnade with curtains covering the resulting four
or five openings or a colonnade that angled forward so that the central one or two openings were
closer to the audience and the others were at an angle to them. In either arrangement, each curtain
opening served the same purpose as a medieval mansion, but, since the openings were not
differentiated visually from one another, signs were placed over them, identifying each as the home of
a central character. This style of staging curtains became the standard for academic theaters

were referenced as angry young men . Notably, the writers were mostly young, working class and
male, who responded to the disillusionment created by the perceived failure of post war
administrations. They considered the labour government had failed to deliver an egalitarian society
and allowed the continuation of an entrenched class system.
The term angry young man , was originally coined in 1956, following the opening of John Osbourne s
play Look Back in Anger (Hague, p.209) which depicted the play s frustrated protagonist, Jimmy
Porter. This play typified a new protagonist in British culture: the white working class, or lower
middle class, disillusioned young male. This new stock character is observed with Waterhouse s
depiction of his protagonist, Billy Fisher. Post World War II, British fiction was witnessing the
emergence of a new kind of protagonist. Keith Waterhouse s central character Billy is representative
of this new flawed character, the antihero. He is a rather seedy young man who is an ingenious and
compulsive liar.

Middle-Range Theory
Theory Scope Categorizing the Theory Scope, the first step of theory analysis, involves describing the
abstractness of their theory concepts and propositions. While the scope of the grand theory is
nonspecific, the scope of the middle range theory is more specific and limited. A middle range theory,
additionally, can be classified in terms of descriptive, explanatory, or predictive. Leventhal et al. did
not identify the type of their theory. However, the words and sentences that they mentioned in the
CSM can categorize as a middle range theory. The CSM was proposed to provide the framework for
depicting the self regulation when individuals have to encounter stress caused by an illness and
understanding the processes involved in problem coping. Leventhal et al. described that the CSM
consists of three core concepts: representation of illness, coping, and coping appraisal. The
relationship between the concepts was presented in the parallel processing system that interact as the
individual adapts to each specific situation. These processes lead individuals to seek health care for
acute illnesses and manage their illness for chronic conditions. Additionally, the CSM was used as a
theoretical framework in research and applied in practice, particularly psychological, behavioral, and
nursing fields. The results of study can make possible intervention which would help patients develop
valid coping processes. Consequently, The CSM can be classified as a middle range predictive theory.

Radio Frequency Identification in Warehouse Management
Radio frequency identification in warehouse management
Introduction
Radio Frequency identification involves a small electronic device that has a small chip and antenna.
2,000 bytes of data can be carried by this chip. RFID devices give an object or product its unique
identifier, just in the same way that bar codes and magnetic strips which are placed behind credit,
ATM or debit cards. The data stored on the chip is only accessible when on scans the device and then
the information is captured on the computer. Though one needs to scan the RFID device to gain access
to the data, it is not mandatory that one places the scanner directly beside the chip. The chips can be
read from approximately 20 feet as it does not use line of sight. This gives RFID a greater advantage
over the other methods for automated data collection. RFID use radio waves to transmit a signal that
can be read by a reader thus enabling the chip to transmit information to the scanner which then
converts the data to machine readable information(Taghaboni Dutta Velthouse, 2006).
RFID devices can be semi passive, active, or passive. Passive devices are powered when
electromagnetic waves are sent to it thus inducing electric current to the devices antenna. Semi passive
devices use battery and waves that are sent from the scanner. Active devices use batteries to power the
chip in order for it to broadcast a signal to the scanner. Semi passive and active devices are mostly
used for goods that need to be scanned

Bertrand Russel s Enlargement Of Self
Bertrand Russel was born on 18th May 1872. He was a British philosopher, mathematician, historian,
writer, social critic and also political activist. Numerous points of his life, he considered himself a
socialist, and a liberal. He was born in Monmouth shire into one of the most upper class families in
Britain. Russel led the British revolt against idealism, In the early 20th Century. He is one of the
founders of analytic philosophy. He then died on 2nd February, 1970. There are many points that
Bertrand Russel illustrated in the book. The points that he talked about are the enlargement of self, and
he also talks about the value of philosophy.
One point that Bertrand Russel talked about is the enlargement of self. In the book he stated, All
acquisition of knowledge is an enlargement of self, but this enlargement of self is best obtained when
it is not directly sought. Russell s expression Enlargement of self expresses for the person of
understanding, wide interest, self motivation, and reflection. He also used the phrase a share in infinity

Facing Death in Tuesdays with Morrie, the author, Mitch Albom
Through society as a civilization we are constantly being reminded of death. In Tuesdays with Morrie,
the author, Mitch Albom, conveys the story of his professor, Morrie Schwartz, whom is dealing with a
life threatening disease. In his life Mitch is so caught up materialistic possessions that he begins to
lose focus on the true meaning in life. After this realization Mitch comes in contact with Morrie and
writes down on a piece of paper a list, death, fear, aging, greed, marriage, family, society, forgiveness,
and a meaningful life. (66) This list signifies different life lessons that Mitch knew of, but seemed to
have forgotten. The first lesson on the list was death. Through society, as a civilization, we are
constantly being reminded of death. With these constant reminders we have had to understand that
death is a natural occurrence, but have we actually ever come to terms with the concept of death?
Morrie, society, and my own outlook on the concept of death all have different features that together
could form a better understanding of death. When symptoms arose and a diagnosis of Amyotrophic
Lateral Sclerosis (ASL) was given, Morrie had basically accepted that his fate was going to indeed
result in death. He was an extremely philosophical character that spoke with words of meaning,
whether you noticed it or not to, almost like every sentence or phrase he said were carefully thought
through. Morrie said, It s not contagious, you know. Death is as natural as life.

Abstract
This paper will discuss the topic of work related stress and its management. It will present a general
introduction or definition of stress and will discuss several subtopics related to work stress. This paper
will present several subtopics including a model of stress known as the General Adaptation Syndrome,
the causes of stress, the consequences of stress, and how to manage work related stress. A solution for
the problem of work related stress will be presented. This paper will present a solution that entails
how to cope with stress, and how to eliminate, or at least reduce, the amount of work related stress. In

However, if the stressor persists, then the individual will not be able to handle the stress for long. In
this stage, the individual s energy is being depleted.
The third and final stage, Exhaustion, is when an individual s level of resistance to the stressor
decreases dramatically until it goes below the normal level. In this stage, an individual s energy has
run out and he or she is unable to maintain normal body functioning. If the stressor continues, long
term damage could occur to the person s body. The body s immune system is weakened which can
result in being more prone to sickness.
An alternative to the Exhaustion stage is the Recovery stage. This stage occurs when an individual is
able to successfully cope with and overcome the stressor (Wikipedia, 2012). This paper will be
specifically discussing and analyzing work related stress. So, what is work related stress? Work related
stress, also known as occupational stress, is stress related to the workplace. Work related stress can
occur in an individual when his or her workplace has a highly demanding environment or job and he
or she does not have the ability to completely deal with the demanding workplace or complete the
demanding job (Wikipedia, 2012). There are several other factors that can cause work related stress
which will be presented in this paper. Now that a definition and model of stress have been presented,
this paper will focus on the causes of stress, known as stressors, as it

Summary Of The Power Of Home Gardens
Austin Matzelle Ms. Martha Silano English 201 OAS September 27 2016
The Power of Home Gardens in America
TEDxDirigo hosted Roger Doiron to provide listeners with his message: A subversive plot: how to
grow a revolution in your own backyard. Throughout his talk, Doiron passionately explains to
listeners how growing a backyard garden can help someone retake control over an aspect of their life.
Their food supply.
Food is a form of energy, it s what our bodies run on. But it is also a form of power. (Roger Doiron)
Doiron believes that when people venture into building their own gardens, they gain control over their
own diets, health, and pocketbooks. He alludes to how citizens taking this power subversively
undermine the power of corporations usually in charge of the general populations health and food
needs.
We are in the midst of an obesity epidemic ... and in a parallel world we see that hunger is on the rise.
(Doiron) The next angle Doiron takes is attacking the major problems our planet is facing. The obesity
rates in many countries has been steadily rising, yet hundreds of millions are malnourished. Our planet
s resources are also dwindling, the amount of land we can grow on, our water supply, and even the
genetic diversity of the plants we consume are all under attack due to the inflation of human
populations.

With our resources under attack, and many eating too much or too little food, Doiron has faith that
individuals gardening can create a

This paper is based on the life of Ed Gein. He was an unusual character, born on a farm, and raised by
a religious crazy, domineering mother. In the space of a few years his entire family passed away and
he was left to take care of his farm all by himself. In the next few years he became a grave robber, a
necrophiliac, a cannibal, and also took up arts and crafts in body parts. He is known as one of the

Over the next 10 years Ed did the same thing look up obituaries in the local newspaper and dig up

His experiments with dead bodies were bizarre. He would construct objects with the bones and skin

John Smith in Jamestown Essay
John Smith in Jamestown
The leadership strengths and weaknesses of John Smith evoked a profound effect on the Jamestown
colony. The fact that Smith actually arrived in the colony as a common prisoner and was able to
achieve the leadership role that he gained is amazing. His creativity and knowledge in certain areas
actually saved the colonists from attack and starvation in the early days. Some of the rules he enforced
as a leader were actually instrumental in saving the colony. His skill in dealing with the natives
allowed him to gain their support and continue trade that resulted in the survival of the colony.

The colonists were desperate for food because it was the middle of winter. The raid failed because
early German settlers that eventually joined the natives, warned them in advance about the attack.
After the failed raid, Smith returned to the fort to find the food storage infested with rats and worms.
By this time, Ratcliffe had been put under arrest and John Smith had become the president. As
president, he then created a rule to make all of the colonists work, or pay the consequences. Smith
called an assembly and stated, He that will not work shall not eat. (Price 108) The law means if a man
does not do any work, he will not get any food. By implementing this law, Smith ensured that most, if
not all, of the colonists would do their own share of the work that needed to be done. With the new
work effort of the colonists, twenty houses were built, a well was dug, and thirty to forty acres of
crops were planted. All of that was accomplished in three months. Once again, John Smith had saved
the Jamestown settlement.
Shortly after Smith introduced his He that will not work shall not eat law, the colony s new stock of
food again became infested with rats. Smith had studied different tactics for years while he lived alone
in his cabin. He developed a plan for how to handle this situation. Smith took a divide and survive

Common Motivations For Stimulant Use
Nowadays, higher education has become the norm for students pursuing healthcare profession such as
medicine and pharmacy. However, expensive tuition, competition for jobs, and length of study, higher
education students feel pressure to succeed and perform well in school. Among the higher education,
particularly healthcare students, have turned to medications like amphetamine salts and
methylphenidate to enhance academic performance, even though the medications are intended to treat
psychological conditions such as ADHD. Nonmedical use of stimulants by the students is drug
diversion, using prescription medications illegally, which is an ethical dilemma for the students since
they are exploiting the healthcare system, yet they feel the pressure to perform in school because the
stakes are so high to succeed. As mentioned earlier, stimulants like amphetamine salts and
methylphenidate are used by students to improve academic performance even though the intended use
is for ADHD. Common motivations for stimulant use are to prepare for exams, reduce sleep, and to
improve focus and extend study hours1. A study by Webb, et al., 148 medical students were surveyed
on nonmedical stimulant use that excluded caffeine. Of those 148 that were surveyed, 15% reported
using stimulants while at medical school with amphetamine salts and methylphenidate being the most
commonly used. Only 9.9% of the respondents had a clinical diagnosis of ADHD2. Also the survey of

Cost Of Perfectionism Essay
Perfection is often treated as a trait that is unattainable, yet we subconsciously strive to be perfect in
many aspects of our lives. Working to be successful and high achieving isn t necessarily a bad thing,
but it can grow out of hand when perfection is the only thought on our mind. Because of this, it is
necessary to find the right balance when dealing with perfectionism. When it comes to achieving our
goals, some amount of perfectionism can be very helpful. Thinking like a perfectionist boosts your
motivation and spikes the amount of effort put into every activity. The combination of intense
motivation and consistent high quality work can make it quite easy to achieve any goals you may set,

President Obama s Semblance Of Education Reform Essay
Adversaries in the Race to the Top While many supported President Obama s semblance of education
reform in Race to the Top, various factions were vehemently against RTT and its implementation.
Republicans primarily stand against federal involvement in state and local schools. The party opposed
RTT advanced Common Core State Standards, which promote a one size fits all approach to education
(Spring, 2015, 63). Along with political factions, those majorly impacted by RTT objected to its
premise. The main teachers unions in the U.S., the National Education Association as well as the
American Federation of Teachers, highlighted several points of disagreement in RTT which would
lead to challenges in implementation. At the time, the NEA said it cannot support RTT s endorsement
of using test scores for evaluating teachers, increasing the number of charter schools, and bolstering
what the union calls fast track alternative routes to teacher licensure (Sawchuk 2009). Additionally,
the AFT expressed concerns about RTT and how much the program helps students, whether it is fair to
teachers, whether it is transparent to the public, and whether it requires shared responsibility
(Weingarten 2009). Along with teachers unions, members of academia spearheaded critiques of RTT.
Joe Onosko s eight point manifesto adequately details the concerns of educators at the time of
implementation. The flaws of the plan (RTT) are as follows:

The Love Experience In The Story Of A Love Story
I know, I know, everybody writes about a love story. However, this one wasn t a love story from the
beginning. We all seem to be in search of that special someone , or so they call it. In my experience, it
never works through seeking a person out. Ask any married couple that has been together for a while
if they found each other by searching for their type . It usually doesn t work that way, love is usually
accidental. I, being a prime example of how it starts, will share my story with you.
Every year, I go to a church camp with my youth group. This is the world s largest baptist church
camp, by the name of Falls Creek. What would usually happen outside of Tabernacle would be me and
Tyler Hope hanging out and doing the things the camp had to offer. For the most part, that is what
happened on that Monday. Then came Tuesday, the 30th of June, 2015. The day ensued as it normally
would any other year: breakfast, morning bible study, small groups, lunch, large groups, dinner, and
Tabernacle. However, things changed after that. I exited the sanctuary to go find Tyler, then I got
distracted. Now, being the little comic book freak that I am, the thing that distracted me was a Batman
hat. Of course there was a person under the hat, so I decided to talk to her. Deciding that this will be
my new friend, based solely on her taste in hats, I said what any 15 year old kid would say. I said,
Hey, I like your hat. (What? Were you expecting some clever line about hats?) After that, I

Latino Population And Hispanic Population
Currently within the United States one of the fastest growing minority population (Schwartz Scott,
2012) is the Latinos. In 2010 Census Bureau Brief ( Ennis, Rois Vargas, Albert, 2011) it stated how an
estimated 15 million Latino individuals were living within the United States, which is approximately
about 16% of the entire U.S. population. There is one big problem with addressing the Latino
population, and that is the family patterns are either misrepresented or not properly understood, due to
the label of Hispanic and Latinos being placed together. These two groups may share the same spoken
language of Spanish and have similar cultural ancestry but the diversity among Hispanic and Latinos
(Schwartz Scott, 2012) make generalizations about their lifestyles difficult. The term Hispanic came to
be used in the 1970 s by government officials (cdc.gov, 2011) in trying to provide a diverse label on
this population that had connections to speaking Spanish and the Spanish culture. Latino became more
of a termed to be used when distinguishing between Mexican (Hispanics) and Latinos who

water. The flounder implored the fisher to release him implying that he does not taste good. Feeling
sympathy, the fisherman released him; however, when once he returned to the fisher spot suggested by
his wife, the water changed to two different colors: yellow and green. The fisherman summoned the
flounder caught earlier with the following chant: Mandje! Mandje! Timpe Te! Flounder, flounder, in
the sea! My wife, my wife Ilsebill, Wants not, wants not, what I will. For each wish, the water changes
to different colors and conditions: Purple dark blue as well as gray and dense, dark grey and becoming
violent with a foul smell, black and dense with a strong wind, red sky with little blue in the middle
including roaring water occupied by tossing ships with distress signals and lightning, and a pitch black
sky with dark waves as hell as a mounting. In the second translation, the fisher uses a different chant
to summon a large flounder: Flounder, flounder in the sea, Come, I pray thee, here to me. For my wife,
good ilsabil, Wills not as I d have her will. The difference from the previous version is that the water
produces bubbles as it roars when the fisherman came back to the flounder wishing for the wife to be
an emperor and ships were shooting guns as well as leaves falling during the fisherman s trip to the
water to wish the wife to be a pope. In the video adaptation version of the story, the fisherman made a
chant that differs from the previous versions: Flounder, flounder in the sea, come I pray thee here to

Notes on Significant Religious Events and People in History
The Council of Trent was fairly important in its role of stratifying the Christian Church. The council
occurred over a period of nearly 20 years in Italy and was initiated by the Roman Catholic Church.
There were a number of points of contention that the council was able to satisfy with other
components of Christianity, namely those pertaining to the Protestant movement that was still
relatively new at the time. Essentially, the council was able to formalize proceedings and practices for
several sacraments and other conceptions of Christianity including notions of original sin and the
Eucharist. The Hanseatic League occurred approximately between the 13th and the 17th centuries
along the coastline of the Northern part of Europe. What the league was initially formed for was to
secure trade for merchants who traveled outside of their native cities. It involved cities in various parts
of Germany and Holland, among other nations. Trade guilds and those for merchants helped to
develop many of the measures that were implemented by the guild in attempts to protect the economic
interests of European cities when their merchants traveled abroad to inherently import and export
goods. The Society of Jesus was the principle organization that engendered the modern day scion of
Christianity whose members are known as Jesuits. This society was initially formed by Ignatius in the
early part of the 16th century. Ignatius developed this organization in accordance with the will of the

jacket. She pulled on her sandals and brushed her hair. She put on minimal make up, since she didn t
really need it. Then she grabbed her bag, phone, and an apple to go. She hopped in her car and headed
to the fifth school she had ever attended. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There she
goes. His dream girl. The genius. He would admit it to anyone who would listen. Except for the girl
herself. There was no denying it. Hunt Ackworth was hopelessly, endlessly, head over heels in love
with Lea O Brennan. Her red curly hair, her pale skin, her glasses, her freckles. Everything about her
was just perfect for him. He had finally gotten up the courage and asked her out. Well, sort of. His two
best friends, Tucker and Logan, would t agree to that. But he didn t care. He was just too in love with

Reinhold Niebhur s Views On Original Sin
Reinhold Niebhur s views on Original sin fall in line with my own actually; I do believe that man is
inherently evil with power to do good. As much of a blessing that free will is, I believe it to also be a
curse because nothing good comes free. With the freedom to make our decisions comes the
responsibilty to not only know but also to understand the effects of them. Every action has a reaction,
and sin is the reaction to free will. Niebuhr holds that man is responsible for his unintentional sins,
even if there was no malice. Niebuhr argues through Pauline teachings that sin is essential; especially
with man s tendency for self glorification. Pauline teachings indicate that human sin is an inevitable
defect derived from the sin of the first man . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is easily seen because humans are faulty beings, who often fall into error even with good
intentions. Our faulty minds and free will can easily fll prey deception and misinterpretation of what
we think we saw with ignorance and imagination filling the gaps, and no matter what level of mental
fortitude, sense of morality, or innate holiness man possesses. Man still falls subject to deception. If
our minds, which are factors in our free will, can be subjected to manipulation, it is not bizarre to
claim that man sins unintentionally and is responsible to correct its actions.
Man s biggest flaw is its weakness in the face of temptation because temptation also lies in its heart.
Man s free will is inherently corrupted by the temptations of life and the world. While free will pushed
man s creativity to what seems to be a limitless boundary, it has also played a part in man s own
undoing. Man s undoing lies in their ego and desire for self gratification and self glorification. They
constantly strive to expand their presence and knowledge so much so that it seems to know no bounds.
However even with man s ambition it is all subject to God s

The Wretched Of The Earth
Political Resistance
According to The Wretched of the Earth, violence becomes the only approach to help the colonized
people to achieve self defined identity and national consciousness (Blecker, 2013). When the colonials
commanded Hong Kong people to maintain where colonialism has assigned them, Hong Kong
resisted instead of following the order. There were two symbolic movements that reflected Hong
Kongers discontent with British and Chinese governments policies.
The movement that conveyed Hong Kong people s discontent with the British colonial government is
the Hong Kong Leftist riots in 1967. After the breakout of the Cultural Revolution in China, pro
communist leftists in Hong Kong actively found opportunities to cause conflicts against the colonial
government. The labor disputes at the Hong Kong Artificial Flower Factory were a perfect time to
instigate Hong Kong people to oppose its colonial government. Along with the success of leftists
demonstrations in Macau and Hong Kong s social conflicts stemmed from poor working conditions,
the disputes developed into large scale demonstrations against British colonial rule. Many pro
communist demonstrators shouted Mao s slogans with Little Red Books held in their hands. At the end
of the demonstrations without the supports of Hong Kong citizens, the riots failed and were
discontinued by the first Premier of the People s Republic of China, Zhou Enlai.
The riots evoked Hong Kong people s awareness for their local

  • 2. Consequences of Passion Exposed in The Romance of Tristan... Consequences of Passion Exposed in The Romance of Tristan and Iseult The story of Tristan and Iseult celebrates the triumph of adultery. When looking vaguely at this romance, readers may think the potion of love that they both drink is the one that makes them to commit adultery. However, this is only a representation of the power of passion and lust Tristan and Iseult have for each other. To better understand this love story, one must realize that Tristan is a marshal hero who volunteers to take a battle against the King of Ireland, in order to redeem the people and the monarch of King Mark. It would therefore, be suitable to say that King Mark has given his nephew the trust to accomplish the mammoth exercise. In Ireland, Tristan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (368) This is where the story of Tristan and Iseult takes a twist because the reader knows enough that Tristan, if given the chance, would like to have Iseult for himself. It is fascinating therefore, when Iseult s mother entrusts Tristan with the potion of love that should only be shared between King Mark and Iseult. By this time, Tristan and Iseult have developed passion in each other, and the potion they would drink only enhances the chemistry that is already existent. To not drink the potion, which Tristan knows would cause Iseult to love him even more, is attempting to remain dishonest to his true self. Tristan is not just an ordinary man; he is a war hero seducing the would be queen of Cornwall. Because of this predicament, Iseult as the wife to the king is to engage in adulterous affair with Tristan to reinforce the courtly love value, while Tristan gains access to Iseult through chivalrious prowess. The potion of wine therefore, serves as a big temptation for both, and the Christian ideal that is forced into the situation by the hermit stands as an experiment. How then can all these three values be reconciled in this story? I think it is not only the flaw displayed by medieval people like Tristan to succumb to the temptation of fulfilling sexual desires. The concept of eat, drink and be merry comes into play in this story and quite evidently, even in our contemporary society, we have not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hamlet And Ophelia Character Analysis In the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, the complexity of Hamlet s relationship with Ophelia is a inconclusive subplot to the overarching idea of the play. After the tragic murder of Hamlet s father, Hamlet is overcome with his desire for revenge, which is evident throughout his interactions with characters. A character most affected is Ophelia, who is in conflict over their relationship, one that eventually leads to her tragic downfall. Hamlet and Ophelia s relationship was at one point a intimate and loving relationship; however, Hamlet s revenge schemes suppresses and overshadows those feelings of love, eventually leading to the tragic deaths of the two lovers. Hamlet and Ophelia had strong feelings of love for each other, which is displayed throughout their interactions with one another. After Ophelia s death, Hamlet displays his true feelings for Ophelia by saying I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers/Could not with all their quantity of love/Make up my sum. The International Organization For Migration The migration crisis has reached a level where Europe must take a stand and must present a viable plan, expressing the future goals the European government believes will help solves this crisis. The International Organization for Migration said, between January and November 2015 more than 750,000 migrants are predicted to arrive in Europe from across the Mediterranean. As a union, Europe is showing the world that they are not a cohesive organization prepared to face the future with respects to the mass migration. The policy concerning migration at the European Union level states that each nation has the right to their own migration policies, while adhering to the European migration institutions, which are not fully established. So far, many of the migrants coming to Europe are settling in Italy and Greece; many hope to be able to reach Germany as their final destination. The important underlining problem is the fact that these migrants are arriving and staying in Italy and Greece. Both Italy and Greece are going through an economic crisis that cannot sustain the migrants that are landing within their borders; they are asking the European Union to give them relief, by imposing quotas to redistribute the migrants to other European nations that are a part of the migration policy. The migrant crisis also brings insecurity to nations such as Italy and Greece because of they are not prepared to deal with the amount of people entering in their borders. I never gave a thought about looking into honor societies at my college. My best experience with my honor society is that I finally was able to narrow my list and decided from my love of physics and anatomy, that I should declare radiology as my major upon transferring. My most memorable experience that will forever stay with me, was the day my chapter advisor invited me to Phi Theta Kappa International convention in 2012 in Nashville,Tennessee. I hail from a small, yet developing city in north Louisiana called Shreveport. I am a rising sophomore and biology major at Fisk University. Though I am indecisive about my future professional goals within my major, one goal that has remained consistent for the past fifteen years is my desire of becoming a professional dancer; preferably a National Football League cheerleader. When I graduate from Fisk, I have high hopes of being accepted into a graduate program, dental school, or medical school and starting a non profit organization specifically for minority, high school females. • 13. Groundwater Chemistry In Groundwater Pollution Introduction The groundwater chemistry is controlled by rock water interaction, dissolution of mineral species and anthropogenic activities (Faure, 1998; Subba Rao,2001; Umar and Absar 2003). The potability of water is also affected by over exploitation of groundwater which ultimately gives rise to severe problem. Anthropogenic influences like domestic sewages, industrial effluents and chemical fertilizers also deteriorate groundwater quality (Vasanthavigar et al. 2012). Variations in water quality and its suitability for domestic and irrigation purposes have also been examined by Alam (2013); Kumar et al (2009); Jalali (2007) and Umar et al (2007). Fluoride, an essential component for human health, is obtained mostly by drinking water but it becomes toxic when its concentration exceeds the permissible limit (Handa 1975; USPHS 1987; WHO 1984). A concentration of fluoride less than 0.6 mg/l may results in dental carries, while greater than 1.2 mg/l results in fluorosis (ISI 1983). Problem of excessive fluoride in groundwater was first highlighted by Short et al. (1937) in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh and today more than 65 million people, including 6 million children, are affected by endemic fluorosis in 20 states of India as a result of consuming high fluoride water (Gupta et al. 2006) and Uttar Pradesh is one of those states (Jha et al. 2010). In the context of angry young men writers of the mid to late 1950 s. Billy Liar written by Keith Waterhouse was published in 1959. Waterhouse s work was associated with a group of novelists and dramatists such as John Braine, Alan Sillitoe and Stan Barstow who were referenced as angry young men . Notably, the writers were mostly young, working class and male, who responded to the disillusionment created by the perceived failure of post war administrations. They considered the labour government had failed to deliver an egalitarian society and allowed the continuation of an entrenched class system. The term angry young man , was originally coined in 1956, following the opening of John Osbourne s play Look Back in Anger (Hague, p.209) which depicted the play s frustrated protagonist, Jimmy Porter. This play typified a new protagonist in British culture: the white working class, or lower middle class, disillusioned young male. This new stock character is observed with Waterhouse s depiction of his protagonist, Billy Fisher. Post World War II, British fiction was witnessing the emergence of a new kind of protagonist. Keith Waterhouse s central character Billy is representative of this new flawed character, the antihero. He is a rather seedy young man who is an ingenious and compulsive liar. ... • 22. Middle-Range Theory Theory Scope Categorizing the Theory Scope, the first step of theory analysis, involves describing the abstractness of their theory concepts and propositions. While the scope of the grand theory is nonspecific, the scope of the middle range theory is more specific and limited. A middle range theory, additionally, can be classified in terms of descriptive, explanatory, or predictive. Leventhal et al. did not identify the type of their theory. However, the words and sentences that they mentioned in the CSM can categorize as a middle range theory. The CSM was proposed to provide the framework for depicting the self regulation when individuals have to encounter stress caused by an illness and understanding the processes involved in problem coping. Leventhal et al. described that the CSM consists of three core concepts: representation of illness, coping, and coping appraisal. The relationship between the concepts was presented in the parallel processing system that interact as the individual adapts to each specific situation. These processes lead individuals to seek health care for acute illnesses and manage their illness for chronic conditions. Additionally, the CSM was used as a theoretical framework in research and applied in practice, particularly psychological, behavioral, and nursing fields. The results of study can make possible intervention which would help patients develop valid coping processes. Consequently, The CSM can be classified as a middle range predictive theory. ... • 23. Radio Frequency Identification in Warehouse Management Radio frequency identification in warehouse management Introduction Radio Frequency identification involves a small electronic device that has a small chip and antenna. 2,000 bytes of data can be carried by this chip. RFID devices give an object or product its unique identifier, just in the same way that bar codes and magnetic strips which are placed behind credit, ATM or debit cards. The data stored on the chip is only accessible when on scans the device and then the information is captured on the computer. Though one needs to scan the RFID device to gain access to the data, it is not mandatory that one places the scanner directly beside the chip. The chips can be read from approximately 20 feet as it does not use line of sight. This gives RFID a greater advantage over the other methods for automated data collection. RFID use radio waves to transmit a signal that can be read by a reader thus enabling the chip to transmit information to the scanner which then converts the data to machine readable information(Taghaboni Dutta Velthouse, 2006). RFID devices can be semi passive, active, or passive. Passive devices are powered when electromagnetic waves are sent to it thus inducing electric current to the devices antenna. Semi passive devices use battery and waves that are sent from the scanner. Active devices use batteries to power the chip in order for it to broadcast a signal to the scanner. • 32. President Obama s Semblance Of Education Reform Essay Adversaries in the Race to the Top While many supported President Obama s semblance of education reform in Race to the Top, various factions were vehemently against RTT and its implementation. Republicans primarily stand against federal involvement in state and local schools. The party opposed RTT advanced Common Core State Standards, which promote a one size fits all approach to education (Spring, 2015, 63). Along with political factions, those majorly impacted by RTT objected to its premise. The main teachers unions in the U.S., the National Education Association as well as the American Federation of Teachers, highlighted several points of disagreement in RTT which would lead to challenges in implementation. At the time, the NEA said it cannot support RTT s endorsement of using test scores for evaluating teachers, increasing the number of charter schools, and bolstering what the union calls fast track alternative routes to teacher licensure (Sawchuk 2009). Additionally, the AFT expressed concerns about RTT and how much the program helps students, whether it is fair to teachers, whether it is transparent to the public, and whether it requires shared responsibility (Weingarten 2009). Along with teachers unions, members of academia spearheaded critiques of RTT. Joe Onosko s eight point manifesto adequately details the concerns of educators at the time of implementation. The flaws of the plan (RTT) are as follows: The plan s focus on high stakes testing and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Love Experience In The Story Of A Love Story I know, I know, everybody writes about a love story. However, this one wasn t a love story from the beginning. We all seem to be in search of that special someone , or so they call it. In my experience, it never works through seeking a person out. Ask any married couple that has been together for a while if they found each other by searching for their type . It usually doesn t work that way, love is usually accidental. I, being a prime example of how it starts, will share my story with you. Every year, I go to a church camp with my youth group. This is the world s largest baptist church camp, by the name of Falls Creek. What would usually happen outside of Tabernacle would be me and Tyler Hope hanging out and doing the things the camp had to offer. For the most part, that is what happened on that Monday. Then came Tuesday, the 30th of June, 2015. The day ensued as it normally would any other year: breakfast, morning bible study, small groups, lunch, large groups, dinner, and Tabernacle. However, things changed after that. I exited the sanctuary to go find Tyler, then I got distracted. Now, being the little comic book freak that I am, the thing that distracted me was a Batman hat. Of course there was a person under the hat, so I decided to talk to her. Deciding that this will be my new friend, based solely on her taste in hats, I said what any 15 year old kid would say. I said, Hey, I like your hat. (What? Were you expecting some clever line about hats?) After that, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Latino Population And Hispanic Population Currently within the United States one of the fastest growing minority population (Schwartz Scott, 2012) is the Latinos. In 2010 Census Bureau Brief ( Ennis, Rois Vargas, Albert, 2011) it stated how an estimated 15 million Latino individuals were living within the United States, which is approximately about 16% of the entire U.S. population. There is one big problem with addressing the Latino population, and that is the family patterns are either misrepresented or not properly understood, due to the label of Hispanic and Latinos being placed together. These two groups may share the same spoken language of Spanish and have similar cultural ancestry but the diversity among Hispanic and Latinos (Schwartz Scott, 2012) make generalizations about their lifestyles difficult. The term Hispanic came to be used in the 1970 s by government officials (cdc.gov, 2011) in trying to provide a diverse label on this population that had connections to speaking Spanish and the Spanish culture. Latino became more of a termed to be used when distinguishing between Mexican (Hispanics) and Latinos who descendants from Latin America such as Cuba and Puerto Rico. In the first version of the story, the fisherman catches a large flounder from the bottom of the clear water. The flounder implored the fisher to release him implying that he does not taste good. Feeling sympathy, the fisherman released him; however, when once he returned to the fisher spot suggested by his wife, the water changed to two different colors: yellow and green. The fisherman summoned the flounder caught earlier with the following chant: Mandje! Mandje! Timpe Te! Flounder, flounder, in the sea! My wife, my wife Ilsebill, Wants not, wants not, what I will. For each wish, the water changes to different colors and conditions: Purple dark blue as well as gray and dense, dark grey and becoming violent with a foul smell, black and dense with a strong wind, red sky with little blue in the middle including roaring water occupied by tossing ships with distress signals and lightning, and a pitch black sky with dark waves as hell as a mounting. In the second translation, the fisher uses a different chant to summon a large flounder: Flounder, flounder in the sea, Come, I pray thee, here to me. For my wife, good ilsabil, Wills not as I d have her will. The difference from the previous version is that the water produces bubbles as it roars when the fisherman came back to the flounder wishing for the wife to be an emperor and ships were shooting guns as well as leaves falling during the fisherman s trip to the water to wish the wife to be a pope. In the video adaptation version of the story, the fisherman made a chant that differs from the previous versions: Flounder, flounder in the sea, come I pray thee here to me, for my good wife, Penelope, wishes what she should not be. In this adaptation, the flounder has gold and silver scales. The sea became green and thick which boils from bellow as the fisherman began wishing for his wife to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Notes on Significant Religious Events and People in History The Council of Trent was fairly important in its role of stratifying the Christian Church. The council occurred over a period of nearly 20 years in Italy and was initiated by the Roman Catholic Church. There were a number of points of contention that the council was able to satisfy with other components of Christianity, namely those pertaining to the Protestant movement that was still relatively new at the time. Essentially, the council was able to formalize proceedings and practices for several sacraments and other conceptions of Christianity including notions of original sin and the Eucharist. The Hanseatic League occurred approximately between the 13th and the 17th centuries along the coastline of the Northern part of Europe. What the league was initially formed for was to secure trade for merchants who traveled outside of their native cities. It involved cities in various parts of Germany and Holland, among other nations. Trade guilds and those for merchants helped to develop many of the measures that were implemented by the guild in attempts to protect the economic interests of European cities when their merchants traveled abroad to inherently import and export goods. • 42. Reinhold Niebhur s Views On Original Sin Reinhold Niebhur s views on Original sin fall in line with my own actually; I do believe that man is inherently evil with power to do good. As much of a blessing that free will is, I believe it to also be a curse because nothing good comes free. With the freedom to make our decisions comes the responsibilty to not only know but also to understand the effects of them. Every action has a reaction, and sin is the reaction to free will. Niebuhr holds that man is responsible for his unintentional sins, even if there was no malice. Niebuhr argues through Pauline teachings that sin is essential; especially with man s tendency for self glorification. Pauline teachings indicate that human sin is an inevitable defect derived from the sin of the first man . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is easily seen because humans are faulty beings, who often fall into error even with good intentions. Our faulty minds and free will can easily fll prey deception and misinterpretation of what we think we saw with ignorance and imagination filling the gaps, and no matter what level of mental fortitude, sense of morality, or innate holiness man possesses. Man still falls subject to deception. If our minds, which are factors in our free will, can be subjected to manipulation, it is not bizarre to claim that man sins unintentionally and is responsible to correct its actions. Man s biggest flaw is its weakness in the face of temptation because temptation also lies in its heart. Man s free will is inherently corrupted by the temptations of life and the world. While free will pushed man s creativity to what seems to be a limitless boundary, it has also played a part in man s own undoing. Man s undoing lies in their ego and desire for self gratification and self glorification. They constantly strive to expand their presence and knowledge so much so that it seems to know no bounds. However even with man s ambition it is all subject to God s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Wretched Of The Earth Political Resistance According to The Wretched of the Earth, violence becomes the only approach to help the colonized people to achieve self defined identity and national consciousness (Blecker, 2013). When the colonials commanded Hong Kong people to maintain where colonialism has assigned them, Hong Kong resisted instead of following the order. There were two symbolic movements that reflected Hong Kongers discontent with British and Chinese governments policies. The movement that conveyed Hong Kong people s discontent with the British colonial government is the Hong Kong Leftist riots in 1967. After the breakout of the Cultural Revolution in China, pro communist leftists in Hong Kong actively found opportunities to cause conflicts against the colonial government. The labor disputes at the Hong Kong Artificial Flower Factory were a perfect time to instigate Hong Kong people to oppose its colonial government. Along with the success of leftists demonstrations in Macau and Hong Kong s social conflicts stemmed from poor working conditions, the disputes developed into large scale demonstrations against British colonial rule. Many pro communist demonstrators shouted Mao s slogans with Little Red Books held in their hands. At the end of the demonstrations without the supports of Hong Kong citizens, the riots failed and were discontinued by the first Premier of the People s Republic of China, Zhou Enlai. The riots evoked Hong Kong people s awareness for their local ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
