Essay For High School Application
Crafting an essay for a high school application can be a formidable task, demanding a delicate
balance between self-expression and adherence to certain guidelines. The challenge lies not only
in presenting one's achievements, experiences, and aspirations but also in doing so in a way that
stands out from the numerous other applications. The pressure to make a lasting impression on
the admissions committee can create a sense of apprehension and self-doubt.
The difficulty begins with the need to introspect deeply, identifying personal strengths,
weaknesses, and unique qualities that set the applicant apart. Transforming these insights into a
coherent narrative that is both engaging and persuasive is no easy feat. The process involves not
only showcasing academic achievements but also revealing personal growth, extracurricular
involvement, and future goals. Striking the right tone is crucial; it requires a delicate balance
between confidence and humility.
Moreover, adhering to the specified word count can be challenging. Every sentence must
contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative, and every word should serve a purpose. The fear
of either leaving out essential details or being overly verbose looms over the writer throughout
the composition process.
Revision becomes a crucial stage, with multiple drafts necessary to refine the essay further.
Seeking feedback from teachers, peers, or mentors adds another layer of complexity, as
incorporating diverse perspectives while maintaining authenticity can be a delicate task.
In essence, writing an essay for a high school application requires a careful dance between self-
reflection, storytelling, and adherence to guidelines. It demands a high level of self-awareness, a
keen understanding of one's audience, and the ability to communicate effectively. The difficulty
lies not just in the technicalities of writing but in the pressure to encapsulate one's identity and
aspirations within the confines of a few hundred words.
For those seeking assistance with similar endeavors, it's worth noting that there are resources
available. Services like HelpWriting.net provide support in crafting compelling essays tailored
to specific needs, offering a helping hand to navigate the intricacies of the application process.

Purpose Of Epic Theatre
Epic theatre is always intended for the actors quite as much as for the spectators.
The essential reason why the didactic play falls into a category of its own is that,
through the exceptional austerity of its apparatus, it facilitates and encourages the
interchangeability of actors and audience, audience and actors. Every spectator can
become one of the actors . (Walter Benjamin). What do you discern as the didactic
element of Mother Courage and Her Children and how does it relate to dramatic form
/ theatrical techniques?
Is Theatre for Pleasure or Theatre for Instruction?
Epic theatre refers to a form of drama that attracts spectator s mind more than his
feelings. The term was developed and adopted by Bertolt Brecht in Germany in 1920
s. Epic theatre presents a narrative which turns the observer into spectator. The
main aim of epic theatre is to arouse the spectator s capacity to take action by
provoking rational self reflection. Brecht has followed the epic theatre because he
realised that the traditional theatre of his time is inadequate for his purposes. Epic
theatre serves the purpose of social function. Through its narrative, Brecht presents
social, political and economic problems. His main aim is to invoke the audience
into analysing the play rather than getting attached with the characters or the plot.
This form was empolyed by Brecht in his play Mother Courage and Her Children
which was performed in 1941. The play consists of twelve scenes that tackles the
thirty year war (1618 1648) between Sweden and Poland. The ... Show more content

Romeo And Juliet Folly Quotes
Romeo and Juliet: Victims of Feud All teenagers have stupid ideas, especially in
the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. In the play, two star crossed lovers
meet, but there is a long standing family feud between the two. Romeo and Juliet
eventually meet and fall in love despite the families hating each other. Fate and
folly are major contributing factors, but it is feud that is most to blame for the star
crossed lovers death. First and foremost, the lovers Romeo and Juliet seemed
destined from the very beginning to a sad fate. For example, in the play s Prologue,
the two are described as Star crossed lovers (prologue.6), which implies that the two
lovers are doomed. While the two lovers have still yet to meet, they plan to attend the

In the beginning of the play it come clear that the two Star Crossed lovers are from
two conflicting families. For instance the prologue states Two households, both
alike in dignity (In fair Verona, where we lay our scene), From ancient grudge
break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. (Prologue.1 4).
This explains to us that the two families (The Montagues and Capulets) are of the
same social standing, and are in a uncivil family feud. Later in the story after
Romeo and Juliet have already met, Juliet cries out O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore
art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, or, if thou wilt not, be but
sworn my love, and I ll no longer be a Capulet. (2.2.36 39) Juliet is willing to give
up her family name to be with her love Romeo. After Romeo kills Tybalt, cousin of
juliet, Juliet first takes the side of her family and rejects Romeo, but later taking his
side. Juliet expresses her feelings by saying Shall I speak ill of him that is my
husband? Ah, poor my lord, what tongue shall smooth thy
How Does Randall Jarrell Use the Imagery in

How does Randall Jarrell use the imagery in Durer s engraving of the knight, the
devil and death to symbolically convey a philosophy of life using powerful poetic
devices?
The knight, Death and the Devil poem written by Randall Jarrell, based on the
engraving by German artist Albert Durer depicting a valiant knight, on horseback
treading along the path of life. A path beset on all sides by many obstacles, and the
dark forces ranged against the knight in his journey. Created in 1513, Durer s
engraving s key characters include a Knight in armour, riding along a narrow road
with the grinning devil at one end and on the other, a figure of death in the form of
deceased knight. Jarrell uses the elements of the vivid imagery contained in ... Show

Companioned so, the Knight moves through this world
Thus protected he is able to
He listens in assurance, has no glance
To spare for them, but look s past steadily
The fourth and final stanza portrays externalizations of our feelings for Death and the
Devil thus making them allegorical figures.
Death of his own flesh, set up outside him
The flesh of his own soul, set up outside him
Jarrell uses repetition as a device in the final stanza to emphasize the importance and
allegory of these figures towards the Knight.
His being accuses him yet his face is firm
The alliteration of face and firm exaggerates the strength of the Knight, to reinforce
the meaning of his power in the reader s mind.
In resolution, in absolute persistence
The folds of smiling do for steadiness
The face is its own fate a man does what he must
And the body underneath it says I am.
Randall Jarrell includes another allegory to explain how the Knight kept a steady
state of mind to strengthen the body to not display his real feelings in his soul. His
look completed him, and determining his own fate by forcing a straight face.
Imagery has been used historically to convey morality. Jarrell is using imagery in a
similar way to reinforce and decorate the poem in a profound way by contrasting the
robust and valiant figure of the Knight onto everything that we come
Portraiture Depictions Of Queen Elizabeth I
Portraiture Depictions of Queen Elizabeth I Elizabeth Tudor or Queen Elizabeth I
was and is one of the greatest monarchs in English history. Obtaining the crown at a
young age of twenty five, she seized a bankrupt country caused by previous rulers,
a country with an unstable religion, and loose ties with other great powers of the
world. Elizabeth I ruled for nearly half a century granting her the remembrance
with reigning with stability, the flourishment of the arts, and increased trade.
Elizabeth s sense of duty to her people was very admirable and that is one the
reasons that makes her such a great monarch. She was committed to her people and
never swayed from doing such that. In saying that, one of the ways people showed
their love and to show her greatness it was represented in portraits. Portraiture of
Queen Elizabeth I illustrates an evolution of her reign over England and Ireland in
the years of 1558 1603. Early portraits of young Elizabeth showcase what is going
on her life or what is important to her at that specific time. Objects such as prayer
books and status clothing would be displayed in the earlier portraits. Later portraits
of Elizabeth also showcase her life and the importance of virginity, purity, crowns,
and other effects. Representations of simplicity to later complex imagery are used to
exhibit her power as well as allusions or stories to convey the Elizabeth.
Progressively, Elizabeth transformed into the goddess Gloriana, engrossed in imperial
Social Stratification In The United States
A society is made up of different classifications of people, and the way they are
classified is based on the resources they own. What sociologists call this is social
stratification. According to the book, society ranks individuals into socioeconomic
stratums based on their income, wealth, education, and race. Individuals are put into
a specific social classthat describes the way they live. The way social stratification
divides and categories people vary from each society. Social stratification also
implies that resources are often unevenly distributed. In which case results in a class
system. In the United States there are three class distinctions: upper, middle, and
lower class. There are additional subcategories that pertain to each class. For example
the middle classcan be divided into the upper middle class and the lower middle
class. The difference between the two is that people who belong in the upper middle
class tend to have more comfortable incomes, while the lower middle class has a
harder time maintaining their decent lifestyle. Furthermore, the... Show more content

When doing a job interview, the one seeking a job has to dress appropriately; there
is a dress code individuals must follow to be perceived as professional. The same
concept can be applied when we talk about social classes. We can manipulate how
others see us not just by the way we act, but by what we own too. I m talking about
materialistic objects such as cars, houses, clothes and shoes. Even jewelry and
handbags. If an individual only has expensive world known brands, then we
assume they have the money to purchase those materials. If I, for example, was
born into a low social class, and want to show others that I have moved into the
upper class, I can shop at retail stores that sell known brands. It doesn t necessarily
have to be a lie. People have managed to move up the social ladder. The upper
The Effects Of Media Violence On Violent Entertainment
Discussion
The attraction or appeal of violence in media entertainment is a topic that has
received consistent but quiet academic attention, while the effects of media violence
continues to draw primary focus from the public and scholars alike. This
discrepancy perhaps lays in the difficulty of the question or rather the reality of the
question; how can the same people who develop, and by and large, abide by
established moral and criminal codes condemning violence choose to engage in
violent films, television programs and video games and actually enjoy it? Several
theories have been posited; some with more merit than others, since non fictional and
fictional violence first hit the small (and big) screen.
Research has shown that personality is a significant contributing factor to the
enjoyment of violent entertainment. This is an important finding as it not only
distinguishes between those who enjoy violent entertainment and those who do not
but also draws attention to the different reasons why different people enjoy violent
entertainment. The identification of trait aggression and anti social tendencies as
predictors for enjoyment of violent entertainment is especially important. Given the
widely accepted positive correlation between exposure to violent entertainment and
aggressive or violent behaviour the current finding should encourage further research
into practical and clinical recommendations to mediate the attractiveness of media
violence to people already
The Beliefs Of A Christian
(iii) Their beliefs as a Christian. Over the years my Christian Beliefs have evolved,
and I am a grateful for that. I have found that these conversations can turn negative
very quickly without grace and love, for everyone is on journey, specifically the
individuals I live life with that are experiencing homelessness and displacement. I do
my best to be sensitive to everyone s current understanding of God the Father, God
the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I find that when I am interacting and discussing
aspects of my Christian Beliefs I tend to highlight The Apostles Creed. However my
belief system is in no shape or form limited to just that. Below is a detailed outline of
my Christian Beliefs.
1)Triune God. God is one God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
2)Scripture. The writings in the Old Testament and New Testament are the inspired
word of God.
3)Salvation through Jesus Christ. God s redeeming love is active to save sinners
through Jesus incarnate life and teachings, through his atoning death, his resurrection,
his sovereign presence through history, and his promised return.
4)Sanctification. The grace of sanctification draws one toward the gift of Christian
perfection, which Wesley described as a heart habitually filled with the love of God
and neighbor and as having the mind of Christ and walking as he walked.
5)Sacraments. I believe strongly in the Holy Baptism as a profession and mark of
difference whereby Christians are distinguished
English Song Critique
The first goal I set for the second quarter was to Write and record an English song.
While I did not completely finish a song, I developed instrumentals, lyrics, and
melody lines for two songs. Interestingly, I brainstormed the ideas for both projects
while walking my dog, Bandit.
The first, which I have tentatively titled Melody, started with me humming a rhythmic
piano part, then a melody line. Next, I developed the instrumental in GarageBand,
with an electric guitar part as a placeholder for the vocals. I found some really cool
techno/electronic effects, percussion parts, and bass parts, and utilized them in my
project. I scribbled some rough lyric ideas, then brought them into class one day and
implored Vanessa to help me finish the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The singer could be the significant other of a criminal, or perhaps their child,
wondering about the psychological meaning behind the criminal s behavior. It will
likely develop into a story song, which contains the easily recognized elements of
telling a narrative, linear story beginning, middle and end, with a recognizable story
arc that contains the classic elements of drama and delivery; it also has relatable
imagery to appeal to audiences (Anderson). Unlike Melody, for this song I
developed the melody of the chorus first, building around the opening line you re an
outlaw. While I was singing, I couldn t help but feel that the song sounded Taylor
Swift like, which is a very different sound from my other two pieces. I didn t want
to forget my song idea, so as soon as I returned home after the walk, I recorded the
melody in GarageBand using my MIDI keyboard and worked out some lyrics. I
fleshed out the track with guitar chords and a drum beat, and later recorded the
vocals in the vocal booth. In the second semester, I will compose the verses and
Ideology And Ideology
1.In this essay I will be discussing the difference between world views and
ideologies and I will also elaborate between the South African motto and the different
worldviews. I will then explain the influence of this motto for myself as a student
teacher and citizen of South Africa. Knowledge production is a highly political and
politicized practice (Morrell, 2014).
2.A worldview is a philosophy of life or concept of the world: a Christian world view
revolves around the battle of good and evil (University, 1884). A person s worldview
can be affected by many factors in life it can be affected by their inherited
characteristics, by their life situations and their background experiences, by their
values in life, by their attitudes and lastly their habits that they developed ... Show

3.What is the difference between world view and ideology ? These two terms have
a slightly difference nuances in their meaning and in their connotation. Both these
terms have a close meaning. A way to distinguish between the two meanings is to
take note that ideology is more proactive. The ideology will dictate what your
actions or policies are where a worldview is more of a perspective or an explanation
of the way that things are, for example a common worldview is that all humans life is
valuable.
4.Diverse people unite is our South African Motto. We strive to get all the different
races to be valued the same and to have the same opportunities. We strive to get
racism out of the way so that we can live in peace. In other countries they don t
have a problem with racism. One worldview that everyone in South Africa differs
about is Christianity. Not all the different cultures have the same beliefs, some belief
in other gods and some believe in Jesus Christ. We as South African citizens have to
accept the fact that not all people have the same views and then move
Life Coaches Research Paper
Entrepreneur and life coaches are an important part of many people s lives. They are
skilled at teaching people the skills to make better choices and attain new goals in
their financial and personal lives.
Coaches boost the confidence of even the most respected Fortune 500 CEOs.
Hollywood success stories acknowledge how they have learned from the experience
of having a life coach. However, even coaches can learn from their own experiences.
Self Coaching Can Work
Even life coaches stress to others in the profession, the art of self teaching. While
everyday people may not be experienced enough to successfully coach themselves,
life coaches appreciate the concept. Self talk can be equally as defeatist in nature.

Essay on Southeastern Native American Literature
Southeastern Native American Literature
Native American literature from the Southeastern United States is deeply rooted in
the oral traditions of the various tribes that have historically called that region home.
While the tribes most integrally associated with the Southeastern U.S. in the
American popular mind the FIVE CIVILIZED TRIBES (Cherokee, Chickasaw,
Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole) were forcibly relocated to Indian Territory (present
day Oklahoma) from their ancestral territories in the American South, descendents of
those tribes have created compelling literary works that have kept alive their tribal
identities and histories by incorporating traditional themes and narrative elements.
While reflecting profound awareness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

including Creation Myths and Legends of the Creek Indians, edited by Bill

Theda Perdue (1993); and Native American Legends: Southeastern Legends Tales
from the Natchez, Caddo, Biloxi, Chickasaw, and Other Nations, edited by George
E. Lankford and W. K. McNeil (1987).
Members of the Five Civilized Tribes were at the vanguard of Native American
literature during the nineteenth century. The earliest work of fiction in English by
an author of native descent is generally thought to be Poor Sarah, or Religion
Exemplified in the Life and Death of an Indian Woman, a 1823 pamphlet probably
written by Elias Boudinot (ca. 1804 1839). A formally educated member of the
Cherokee tribe who was born in Georgia, Boudinot was the editor of the bilingual
newspaper The Cherokee Phoenix, the first periodical published by Native
Americans. Poor Sarah was not commercial fiction it was a propagandistic tract
from a religious advocate. The first overtly commercial work of fiction written by a
Native American was Life and Adventures of Joaquin Murieta, the Celebrated
California Bandit (1854), a best selling novel set in California during
Sigmund Freud s Oedipus Complex ( Schultz Sydney P. 42 )
For my final submission, I will be reviewing everything that I had learned in class,
about psychology from the early days of Freud all the way to preset day.
Growing up, Freud s father was strict and authoritarian; Freud felt superior to his
father by the age of 2. His mother was protective and loving towards him, which led
Freud to feel a passionate, sexual attachment to her. This situation set the stage for his
Oedipus complex (Schultz Sydney P. 42). Like this complex, most of Freud s theories
reflect his own childhood.
Freud later described personality as being made up of three structures, first, the Id.
The Id is the aspect of personality that deals with instincts; it operates according to
the pleasure principle. Freud described the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Freud described the reality principle as being governed by the Ego, which controls
the instant gratification mentality of the Id. Lastly is the Superego, which is the
moral aspect of personality. It is the internalization of parental and societal values
and standards. Freud thought that this aspect was developed by the age of 5 or 6
and consist initially of the rules established by our parents (Schultz Sydney P. 51).
The belief that this aspect of our personality being completely developed by the age
of 5 or 6 is one of the concepts that Freud and Jung disagreed on.
Freud and Jung also disagreed on dream analysis and how to interpret dreams. Using
dream analysis Freud thought that he could learn about an individual through the
interpretation of their dreams. He thought that our experiences and desires would
come to light in our dreams, even our sexually repressed desires. Freud also thought
that different inanimate objects represented phallic symbols or hidden meaning in
ones dreams (Schultz Sydney P. 87). This is just another example of how Freud
incorporated a sexual meaning or desire into his theories.
Like Freud, Carl Jung believed that dream analysis allowed for a window into the
unconscious mind. However, unlike Freud s theory about dream interpretation, Jung
didn t believe that content of all dreams were sexual or that they disguised their true
meaning. Jung thought that dreams were more symbolic, that dreams could have
different interpretations according to
The Moral And Ethical Ethics Of Tyco
Introduction
This paper is about the lack of moral and ethical leadership of Tyco International s
former highest paid chief executive officer (CEO) Dennis Kozlowski (Kaplan,
2009). Tyco International is a business leader in Global Fire Safety and Security
Solutions. Tyco s United States headquarters are in Princeton, New Jersey and the
Corporate Headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. According to Kaplan (2009),
over a decade, Dennis Kozlowski was a charismatic and ambitious CEO who had
earned the nickname Deal a Day Dennis because of his notorious business decisions
including aggressive and speedy acquisitions. Dennis was a leader determined to
make Tyco the greatest company and succeeded well in transforming it from a $1.5
billion manufacturer into an industrial corporation worth more than $100 billion
(Kaplan, 2009).
Ethical issues
In June 2002, Kozlowski was accused by the Manhattan district attorney Robert
Morgenthau, of evading $1 million in sales tax on the purchase of rare artwork
(Timeline of the Tyco Internationalscandal, 2005). This investigation opened up a
can of worms indicting Kozlowski along with Tyco s former chief financial officer
(CFO) Mark H. Swartz of looting millions of dollars from the company,
misconstruing financial records and doctoring business records (Brickey, 2008). In
September 2002, Kozlowski and Swartz were accused of stealing more than $170
million dollars from Tyco and swindling $430 million in the sale of company shares.
Poverty In Memphis
Memphis is notoriously known for its shocking poverty rates, which are higher than
the poverty rates in Shelby County for every category (2015 Memphis Poverty Fact
Sheet), and that is not a good thing. Memphis is also known for its high
unemployment rates and its low availability of a skilled workforce (Does Memphis
Have a Fighting Chance), and that is not great, either. Finally, it is well known that
Memphis has one of the highest crime rates in the country (Memphis TN: Crime
Data and Crime Rates), and that just takes the cake. While it is common to focus on
these negative aspects about Memphis, it is not a complete description of this
multifaceted city. It is my position that there are many positive aspects to Memphis

The Silk Road In Han China And The Roman Republic
Throughout the lifetime of civilizations in the Ancient World, methods of creating a
stable economy were prevalent. Such method would be the integration of trade
routes between societies and a strong social class. In Han China and in the Roman
Republic, the silk road was a staple in the economy of their societies. Both of these
societies established routes along the silk road to increase the wealth and prosperity
of their civilizations. However, though both of these countries utilized the trade of
silk and other goods along the silk road, they also had differences. Han dynastyChina
and the Roman Republic had both utilized the silk road to trade their goods to gain
prosperity and they relied on agriculture to receive some of their goods, but
differences were present in the goods that they exchanged, such as China mainly
trading silk and rice and Rome trading maining grapes, wine, and pottery. The
civilizations of Han dynasty China and the Roman republic both had a similarity in
that they utilized the silk road as a major trading route. The silk road was utilized
by both of these civilizations to receive needed resources, and exchange others.
During the Han dynasty under the rule of Emperor Wu in 138 B.C, their society was
often under attack by the nomadic Xiongnu people. Due to this, he sent his emissary
Zhang Qianto request aid from distant cultures and there he found the Dayuan, the

Hardness Of Water And High Quality Water Essay
Introduction For this experiment, the test of hardness of water is crucial and the
water hardness refers the existence and amount of the dissolved divalent cations
Ca2+ and Mg2+ (some other polyvalent cations included) in the chemical properties
of water. (Thompson 2014) The reason that the hardness of water is quite
important is because the hardness of water is the determination and the
measurement of the quality of water and high quality water is critical for human
and even for other living species as necessary living source. In order to measure
the hardness of water, several methods to measure the divalent cation concentration
should be used, which are TDS, EDTA and AA (Atomic Absorption
Spectrophotometry). EDTA and AA can measure the value of the hardness and
TDS is about observation without specific value. Thus, EDTA and AA will be used
for the measurement of the concentration of divalent cations in water samples. For
EDTA, it is the agent, ethylene diamine tetra acetic for dissolved divalent cations
Ca2+ and Mg2+ with the appropriate indicator EBT (eriochrome black) to analyze
divalent cations in water. By using the titration, the end point is the color change
from red to blue by Ca2+ and Mg2+. Thus the concentration of the Ca2+ and Mg2+
can represent the hardness of water sample showing as specific values. For AA, it is
a technique to determine and measure the dissolved metal in the sample. The atoms
in the sample that has energy separation can absorb the

The Atomic Bomb Of World War II
The atom bomb was no Great Decision. It was merely another powerful weapon in
the arsenal of righteousness said Harry S. Truman. The atomic bomb is considered
a weapon of mass destruction because of the insurmountable damage and
causalities such attack can cause. The United States resorted to the creation of
such incredible weapon as a means to annihilate or alter the Axis powers.
However, this all began due to the September 1, 1939, German attack to Poland
and the Pearl Harbor bombings by Japan. These actions by the Axis powers would
result in one of the deadliest global wars in human history. World War II involved
the vast majority of the world s nations. An estimated 50 million to 85 million died
in the events that occurred in World War II. The origin and development of the
atomic bomb during World War II changed forever the direction of the war and posed
the United States as a champion in military strategies; this endeavor also known as
the Manhattan Projectserved as catalyst in WWII. During this time, the world s most
intelligent scientists discovered that German physicists were learning to produce a
bomb that could cause immense destruction. The fear of such a bomb led scientists

The Great City Of Detroit
In the 2013 mayoral election in Detroit, MI, the citizens experienced in a close race

become the first white mayor to lead the city in four decades. The great city of
Detroit has for long experienced much calamity that has permeated throughout every

has brought to the city an energy that has been much needed and deserved to those
residents that dream of the return of the motor city they once knew.
In the run for the mayor of Detroit, MI in 2013, According to the article Detroit

My Future Goals
The future is a time or a period of time in which we follow through from the
moment of speaking or writing our intentions. It is a time that has yet still to come.
The future is what we work for, to go through school and have a career, in order to
have a better life. My parents have taught me to work hard for the things I want, and
I wish to have a bright future. That is one of the reasons why I am here at CI, to get
an education that will help me find a career with sufficient salary that will support me
and my future family.
My future dream job is to be the CEO of a company. I know that it will take a while
to get there, so I am plan on studying business administration first, then, work my
way up to the position that I want. In the future, I also want to be settled in a nice
home where I can raise my future children, and living in Seattle, Washington. One
goal that I wish to accomplish when I get older, is to buy my parents a house to
give back for the sacrifices they have made for me, and for teaching me how to
deal with the difficulties of life. The quality of life I want in the future will be a
good one. I will achieve my goals and surround myself with people that will bring me
happiness.
Getting to where I am today, was not easy. I had to overcome some obstacles that
taught me some life lessons. One of the factors that has contributed to my life choices
is my mother. I have a close relationship with my mom. Whenever I have something
that is bothering me, I like to
Femininity And Conformity
Conceptions of idealized and appropriate feminine qualities are majorly constructed
by the dominant patriarchal discourse that judges female behaviour with reference to
gender based social norms. Incarcerated within the patriarchal disciplinary system, the
female bodily act becomes a subject of highly structured regulations whose inspecting
gaze forces it to be infantilised or penalised. Living under the custody of their
offenders, women are the target of a manipulative process that strives to condition
them, training them to believe in its established qualities of femininity. Through a
systematic surveillance of their behaviours and thoughts, the oppressive controlling
system turn women into docile bodies which are emblematic of conformity and
submissiveness. [L]argely interpellated by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tyranol Johnson
Johnson Johnson and the Worldwide Recall of Tylenol A worldwide company that

pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, and Tylenol tablets, along with other products.
J J is all about innovation and they simply believe in bringing ideas, products and
services to advance the health and well being of people around the world (About
Johnson Johnson). The well established and successful company that has been
operating for over a staggering 130 years, has over 125,000 employees in 60
countries that are very much unified and goal oriented. Every business has a
mission that encircles profit making, but J J is one of the very few that focuses
more on corporate duties rather than financial gains. Moreover, the essence of this
case is that there was a worldwide recall of Tylenol34 of years ago. There was this
individual from Chicago, Illinois, who put tablets that contain arsenic in unsold
bottles of Tylenol on store shelves (Hosmer, 2011). No one knew the reason why that
person did that; those contaminated tablets killed six people. After these... Show more

There should be greater freedom of choices, as this not only fosters social
productivity, but it ensures market exchange among businesses and consumers. In
this Johnson and Johnson case, the Chief Executive Officer made sure that the
customers exercised their freedom of choice in returning the Tylenol products while
getting their refund for unopened tablets.
The company acknowledged the two way idea that everyone should act to ensure
greater freedom for society. The idea in this case is where the company acted
promptly and called back all Tylenol products, both nationally and internationally.
The other part to this two way idea is where the company went as far to take on over
a $100 million loss and refunded their customers.

Evaluation Of An Integrated Care Pathway
INTRODUCTION An integrated care pathway is a structured multidisciplinary
synopsis of anticipated care, placed within a set timeline, to aid a patient with a
specific condition or set of symptoms to move progressively through a clinical
experience to positive outcomes, It is one of the main tools used to manage the
quality in healthcare concerning the standardisation of care processes and
therefore promotes organised and efficient patient care based on evidence based
practice. (British Medical Journal, 1998). In this essay I aim to justify a patient
pathway of care with reference to national and local agendas. I will analyse the
assessment strategies utilised in the pathway from a bio psycho social perspective
with reference to contemporary evidence and provide examples from clinical
practice where assessment of the patient of the pathway impacts upon the care
planning process. JUSTIFY THE SELECTION OF THE PATHWAY WITH
REFERENCE TO NATIONAL AND LOCAL AGENDAS The pathway I have
selected to discuss from pervious placement is the Pneumonia pathway. The national
agenda I have chosen heading this topic is the National Institute for Health and care
Excellence (NICE). Under the pneumonia pathway I will concentrate on the Adult
with community acquired pneumonia path which is within the pathway. Pneumonia,
is a lower respiratory tract infection in which there is an inflammation of the lung(s)
caused by a bacterial, viral or fungal infection. Streptococcus pneumoniae is the most
Against Super PACs Essay
The next presidential election will be one like no one has ever seen before in
terms of campaign funding and expenses. Even now, the GOP Presidential Primary
races are already showing signs of how money will not be an object for their
presidential candidate. The seemingly limitless budget exists for these candidates
thanks to the so called Super PACs (Political Action Committees). These Super PACs
are allowed to come up with independent financing for the presidential campaign,
sans any budgetary ceilings. The inner workings of such a committee has left a bad
taste in the mouths of the voters even though very little is known about the actual
history and reasons for the existence of the Super PACS. This paper will delve into

That is one reason why the public has come to reject the idea of the Super PACs. It
has the turned the political campaign into a shallow, reality television, mud
slinging type of contest from which the candidates can never return. The ads being
run in the newspapers, television, and radio stations cost these candidates and
Super PACs money that could have been used for better political means such as
contributions to charitable organizations by the candidates or their support groups
on their behalf. That sort of act would have had a greater political impact upon the
voting public than an ad campaign explaining the ills of Newt Gingrich. Even
more sickening, is the fact that most of the candidates will feign knowledge of
participation in any negative campaign movements because of the independent
nature of the Super PACs. The candidate can deny any involvement in the act all
the while coordinating with his Super PAC under the radar of mass media. These
negative campaigns leave the candidate free and clear of any involvement as all
the Super PAC has to do is run the ad with a clear disclaimer absolving the
candidate the ad supports of any wrong doing because the ad was not sanctioned by
the candidate or political party. In other words, Super PACs gives a voice to people
with money. All corporations that have money to give, are giving millions and
millions of dollars to the candidates across the board. Independent voters don t have
that money to donate, so their
The Spread Of The Plague In European History
Death from disease has been recorded in history throughout all time. In recent
years, the outbreak of the Zika virus, a disease passed down from mosquitos, has
given the human population a scare. The among the biggest disease scares in all of
recorded history is none other than the Black Plague in the years 1346 1353, with
over 100 million recorded deaths in Europe. This plague affected the population of
towns, the social rankings of citizens, and the religious beliefs the people had in God.
Such a high loss of human lives changed European history and even contributed to
what humans achieve today. Due to the incurable spread of the Black Death, a large
amount of people died and affected the growth of the European population. Doctors

People believed the sickness was a punishment for their sins against God. People
began to punish themselves by self flogging and beat themselves in order to rid
themselves of their sins and abolish the plague. Monasteries were hit very hard by
the plague since so many sick people took refuge there. The priests who delivered
the final sacraments of death also passed away from sickness, leaving the churches
with fewer clergy members. As the Black Death ravaged on, people began to lose
faith or become angry at God for their losses and they began to realize that their
religion could not do anything to protect their families from the disease. When the
plague lifted, members of the clergy sought out replacements for their fallen
colleagues, but the successors were trained sloppily and learned very little of tasks
their predecessors. This may have furthered the corruption of the Church, since they
recruited people they had little knowledge about. For other areas, the plague
eliminated so many priests and members of the clergy that church services ceased
Stereotypes In Black Robe
In the movie, Black Robe, there are many different stereotypes portrayed. The ones
that seem to stick out the most in the movie are the savage and noble savage
stereotypes. During the movie, the Algonquin Indians agree to help La Forque on
his journey. In a beginning scene of Black Robe, a priest appears and you notice
that his ear is gone and half of his faced seems to be destroyed. It was said that the
Indians did it because they are uncivilized, leading me to conclude that this was an
example portraying the Indians as savages. During the journey, which is a very long
and enduring one, the Algonquin Indians discussed killing, overtaking and leaving
the Black Robe. Which to me portrays the stereotype of savage. In the end the

Fate Quotes In The Time Of The Butterflies
The Path to Having Fate
Fate determines each person s will that believe it is meant to happen. In the book, In
the
Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, the four Mirabal sisters lived under
Trujillo s rule before they were killed after joining the revolution. The death of the
three sisters was caused by fate because their lives were being controlled by another s
human hand, which was Trujillo, to have fewer choices for them to choose their own
path.
The three sisters had live with no freedom but to suffer in pain because a person

Modern Society as a Reflection of the Picture of Dorian...
Traditional gothic fiction was at the height of its popularity during the Victorian era,
it exploded in the 1790 s and continued its reign well into the 1800 s. This
confrontational style of fiction often blurs the lines of realistic and artificial, forcing
readers to challenge their beliefs and surpass the norm. However, the aspect of gothic
fictionthat was most attractive to the Victorian audience was the way human fears
and societal tensions were reflected in the deliberately fictionalised literary works.
Themes such as the human greed for immortality and eternal beauty that underlie key
gothic texts such as Oscar Wildes only novel The Picture of Dorian Grayhave incited

Dorian s callous reaction to Sybil s (his lover) suicide is corresponding to
Voldemort s detached feelings for his Death Eaters. With power such the

Gray s statement that he has seen too much in life to... shock easily is a
demonstration of this narcissistic outlook. Rowling has further authenticated Wilde

of the original character. The shared disfiguration of the characters physic because
of their unnatural desire for immortality links both the past a present desires.
Whilst Gary was loathsome of visage, Voldemort was similarly the most terrible

them through their shared use of an alter ego style name. Gray s influence over

dramatisation of the original Dorian Gray character has allowed for revolutionary use
of the land of fantasies (5) in which Voldemort s lust for immortality and inability to
Role Of Managing Diverse Workforce In Organizations

Managing Diverse Workforce in Organizations
In the current age of globalization that is characterized by the intense competition
among world corporations, strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) has
become vital for the success of organizations. As a growing number of corporations
around the world are turning into being multinational in nature, the workforce in such
multinational corporations (MNCs) are increasingly becoming diverse, in regard to
its cultural, economic, social, and personal attributes. As such, implementing a
strategic approach in managing such diverse workforce is one of the pivotal roles of
managers and administrators, in an attempt to put the interests of both employees and
employers in the same direction (Kuo, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this context, an employee voice may be defined as all types of opportunities for
employees to have a say and exert influence over decisions that affect their interests
Boxall and Purcell (2016). Hence, in order to effectively manage a diverse workforce
within a given organizational context, a good and strong relationship should exist
between employees and their managers, who would be able to understand their needs,
respond to their observations, and react insightfully to any incompetency in their
performance. This important employee management relationship is investigated by
many researchers. For example, Holland, Cooper, and Pyman (2012) conducted an
important study to examine the relationship between employee voice arrangements
and their trust in their management. The researchers surveyed 1,022 employees from
various Australian organizations, concluding that direct voice arrangements were
positively related to employees trust in management, while union voice arrangements
and perceived managerial opposition to unions were negatively related to trust in
management (Holland, Cooper, and Pyman, 2012). Therefore, getting a direct and
clear employee voice is a prerequisite of an effective management of diverse
workforce in any organization.
When the voice of diverse employees is adequately heard and their interests
India Caste System
) Attitude to hierarchy A)The India s caste system
India has a hierarchical caste system in the society. Within Indian culture, Hindu or
Muslim, urban or village, virtually all things, people, and groups of people are
ranked according to various essential qualities. The social Hierarchy is present
everywhere in India. Although India is a political democracy, in daily life there is a
little adherence to notions of equality.
Castes systems in India and caste like groups, classified in five groups with which
almost all Indians are associated, are ranked. Everyone knows the relative rankings
of each locally represented caste, and people s behavior toward one another is
constantly shaped by this knowledge.

India s leaders are thinking at the solutions they should adopt to respond to lower

B) Economic consequences
The Indian private sector has vehemently rejected the system of quotas. The
corporate sector has argued that caste based hiring will reduce efficiency and
competitiveness. For some actors of this sector, caste criteria don t work in the today
s knowledge economy. Some have even claimed that caste based reservations will not
be acceptable to Western multinationals who will take their business to other
countries.
To explain this threat, big company like Microsoft which is present in some country
where talent is in abundance, can be seduce by China or Eastern Europe because
actions like affirmative action which reduce country competitiveness or attractiveness
are feared.
Experts warn that the new quotas could exacerbate a major constraint on India s
economic expansion. One of these reasons, a lack of well trained talent suitable for a
multinational work environment.
C) Affirmative action in education, training...
The issue of college admissions quotas is particularly significant in India because
such a large proportion of India s population is so young: More than 600 million
people in a nation of 1.1 billion are 25 or younger.

Summary Of Conservatism By Russell Kirk
According to Russell Kirk, there are six characteristics and rules that belongs to a
true conservative. The first would be the belief in a superior structure would rule
society just as well as conscience. That a confined logic, alone, cannot fulfill a human
s need for knowledge. Keith Feiling stated that despite the fact that members of
Conservative Party are realists, they believe that there are greater, unexplainable,
forces in the heavens and all around, that even human theories cannot explain. The
second explains that conservatives are indoctrinated that life is worth living, unlike
liberals, and do not force egalitarianism upon humanity. The third explains the
conservatives belief in the inequalities of men and only confirm equality of men

The fifth is the belief that taxes serve to keep order and control anarchy and the
desire for power. The last is that recognition change is not thought of to be an
entirely good thing and that fast change could do bad as well as good, so
conservatives are wise and cautious with change.
Kirk explains that liberalism and radicalism was sufficiently more traditional in the
public s mind, while conservatism was not a popular concept at all, and the reason
for their demise if from their own doings and beliefs. In today s atmosphere, for
example, the issue of gun control is a very complicated and is still a debatable topic.
Conservatives are pro gun control and today s issues have been relating to gun
control laws and if they are needed. Along with immigration, another popular topic
today, conservatives believe in and support only legal immigration, and oppose
pardon to those who enter the United

that her limp effected everything she did. Lange stated, I think it perhaps was the
most important thing that happened to me. It formed me, guided me, instructed me,
helped me, and humiliated me. All those things at once. I ve never gotten over it, and
I am aware of the force and the power of it. The second event was her fathers

At the same time, fluctuation of the crude oil price has put pressure on the price
level and economic growth in China. In this research I ask: What is the interaction
between crude oil price and China s economy? A considerable amount of
economic literature have analyzed the impact of oil price on the GDP in
developed countries. Such as Jimenez and Sanchez (2004) have studied links
between oil price and macro economy in several industrial OECD countries. They
found that oil price fluctuations have considerable effects on economic activities.
We do not know the interaction between the crude oil price and economy in China.
China is interesting in this content because it has large population which affects
the demand for crude oil. Also, China s GDP is growing rapidly, and the
dependence on imported oil have increased in China, but only a few studies have
focused on China. In Ghalayini s study, by investigating the relationship between oil
price and economic growth, the researcher found that as economic growth increases
the demand for oil increases which pushes up the oil prices. While the increase in
GDP growth and economic activity have led to an increase in the energy demand, a
feedback relationship exists which can mitigate this effect (Ghalayini, 2011). In this
research, I will use granger causality test and regression models to study interaction
between the crude oil price and GDP in China. There are several alternative

characters are characters that do not undergo any type of change, usage they are

One reason why people should not climb is because of all of the garbage that the

Music And The Second World War
Music and the Second World War Adam Griffin South Piedmont Community
College Music Appreciation 110 Mr. Campbell In World War II, jazz absolutely
was the music of freedom, and then in the Cold War, behind the Iron Curtain, same
thing. It was all underground, but they needed the food of freedom that jazz
offered Herbie Hancock. Looking back into history, you could create a timeline of
events with nothing but song titles. Music was not just music, it was a lifestyle.
Every major event in history has numerous songs that go along with or describe
the happening. In the following paragraphs, I will describe aspects and elements
of music for pre World War II, World War II, and post World War II. One could say
that music was a form of expression throughout the times of war, and the songs
produced during this time period clearly express all aspects of life before, during,
and after the war. Pre World War II had a huge impact on the course of our nation
and our world; not only musically speaking, but also in the terms of historical
events. During this time we saw events such as the Wright brother s first flight of
an airplane in 1903, Ford Motor Co. introducing its first Model T vehicle in 1908,
World War I from 1914 to 1918, the stock market crash in 1929 resulting in the start
of the great depression, the beginning of World War II in Europe in 1939, and the
end of the great depression in 1940. When musically speaking of this time period, one

used in both stories. A quote in The Lotteryreads, Thought we were going to have to
get on without you Tessie . This quote shows that Tessie a loud, cheerful lady in
town is late to the drawing for the lottery. Which is ironic because Tessie, who is
late, actually wins the lottery and as her prize she is sadly stoned to death by the
people of the town. In the Possibility of Evil it states When she came into the
grocery, half a dozen people turned away from the shelves and the counters to wave
at her or call out good morning . This specific quote is describing Miss
Strangeworth, and how everyone in town knows her, and loves her presence. The
quote shows irony because while everyone in town thinks she is nice and friendly,
she is actually causing drama by writing letters about people in town. Based off
only of suspicions. These two quotes showing irony are similar because in The
Lottery , Tessie is clueless of what is to happen just like the town is clueless in The
Possibility of Evil . Tessie isn t expecting herself to win the lottery/die just like

Essay For High School Application.pdf

  • 1. Essay For High School Application Crafting an essay for a high school application can be a formidable task, demanding a delicate balance between self-expression and adherence to certain guidelines. The challenge lies not only in presenting one's achievements, experiences, and aspirations but also in doing so in a way that stands out from the numerous other applications. The pressure to make a lasting impression on the admissions committee can create a sense of apprehension and self-doubt. The difficulty begins with the need to introspect deeply, identifying personal strengths, weaknesses, and unique qualities that set the applicant apart. Transforming these insights into a coherent narrative that is both engaging and persuasive is no easy feat. The process involves not only showcasing academic achievements but also revealing personal growth, extracurricular involvement, and future goals. Striking the right tone is crucial; it requires a delicate balance between confidence and humility. Moreover, adhering to the specified word count can be challenging. Every sentence must contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative, and every word should serve a purpose. The fear of either leaving out essential details or being overly verbose looms over the writer throughout the composition process. Revision becomes a crucial stage, with multiple drafts necessary to refine the essay further. Seeking feedback from teachers, peers, or mentors adds another layer of complexity, as incorporating diverse perspectives while maintaining authenticity can be a delicate task. In essence, writing an essay for a high school application requires a careful dance between self- reflection, storytelling, and adherence to guidelines. It demands a high level of self-awareness, a keen understanding of one's audience, and the ability to communicate effectively. The difficulty lies not just in the technicalities of writing but in the pressure to encapsulate one's identity and aspirations within the confines of a few hundred words. For those seeking assistance with similar endeavors, it's worth noting that there are resources available. Services like HelpWriting.net provide support in crafting compelling essays tailored to specific needs, offering a helping hand to navigate the intricacies of the application process. • 2. Purpose Of Epic Theatre Epic theatre is always intended for the actors quite as much as for the spectators. The essential reason why the didactic play falls into a category of its own is that, through the exceptional austerity of its apparatus, it facilitates and encourages the interchangeability of actors and audience, audience and actors. Every spectator can become one of the actors . (Walter Benjamin). What do you discern as the didactic element of Mother Courage and Her Children and how does it relate to dramatic form / theatrical techniques? Is Theatre for Pleasure or Theatre for Instruction? Epic theatre refers to a form of drama that attracts spectator s mind more than his feelings. The term was developed and adopted by Bertolt Brecht in Germany in 1920 s. Epic theatre presents a narrative which turns the observer into spectator. The main aim of epic theatre is to arouse the spectator s capacity to take action by provoking rational self reflection. Brecht has followed the epic theatre because he realised that the traditional theatre of his time is inadequate for his purposes. Epic theatre serves the purpose of social function. Through its narrative, Brecht presents social, political and economic problems. His main aim is to invoke the audience into analysing the play rather than getting attached with the characters or the plot. This form was empolyed by Brecht in his play Mother Courage and Her Children which was performed in 1941. The play consists of twelve scenes that tackles the thirty year war (1618 1648) between Sweden and Poland. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Romeo And Juliet Folly Quotes Romeo and Juliet: Victims of Feud All teenagers have stupid ideas, especially in the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. In the play, two star crossed lovers meet, but there is a long standing family feud between the two. Romeo and Juliet eventually meet and fall in love despite the families hating each other. Fate and folly are major contributing factors, but it is feud that is most to blame for the star crossed lovers death. First and foremost, the lovers Romeo and Juliet seemed destined from the very beginning to a sad fate. For example, in the play s Prologue, the two are described as Star crossed lovers (prologue.6), which implies that the two lovers are doomed. While the two lovers have still yet to meet, they plan to attend the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of the play it come clear that the two Star Crossed lovers are from two conflicting families. For instance the prologue states Two households, both alike in dignity (In fair Verona, where we lay our scene), From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. (Prologue.1 4). This explains to us that the two families (The Montagues and Capulets) are of the same social standing, and are in a uncivil family feud. Later in the story after Romeo and Juliet have already met, Juliet cries out O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I ll no longer be a Capulet. (2.2.36 39) Juliet is willing to give up her family name to be with her love Romeo. After Romeo kills Tybalt, cousin of juliet, Juliet first takes the side of her family and rejects Romeo, but later taking his side. Juliet expresses her feelings by saying Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband? Ah, poor my lord, what tongue shall smooth thy
  • 4. How Does Randall Jarrell Use the Imagery in Durer’s... How does Randall Jarrell use the imagery in Durer s engraving of the knight, the devil and death to symbolically convey a philosophy of life using powerful poetic devices? The knight, Death and the Devil poem written by Randall Jarrell, based on the engraving by German artist Albert Durer depicting a valiant knight, on horseback treading along the path of life. A path beset on all sides by many obstacles, and the dark forces ranged against the knight in his journey. Created in 1513, Durer s engraving s key characters include a Knight in armour, riding along a narrow road with the grinning devil at one end and on the other, a figure of death in the form of deceased knight. Jarrell uses the elements of the vivid imagery contained in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Companioned so, the Knight moves through this world Thus protected he is able to He listens in assurance, has no glance To spare for them, but look s past steadily The fourth and final stanza portrays externalizations of our feelings for Death and the Devil thus making them allegorical figures. Death of his own flesh, set up outside him The flesh of his own soul, set up outside him Jarrell uses repetition as a device in the final stanza to emphasize the importance and allegory of these figures towards the Knight. His being accuses him yet his face is firm The alliteration of face and firm exaggerates the strength of the Knight, to reinforce the meaning of his power in the reader s mind. In resolution, in absolute persistence The folds of smiling do for steadiness The face is its own fate a man does what he must And the body underneath it says I am. Randall Jarrell includes another allegory to explain how the Knight kept a steady state of mind to strengthen the body to not display his real feelings in his soul. His look completed him, and determining his own fate by forcing a straight face. Imagery has been used historically to convey morality. Jarrell is using imagery in a similar way to reinforce and decorate the poem in a profound way by contrasting the robust and valiant figure of the Knight onto everything that we come
  • 5. Portraiture Depictions Of Queen Elizabeth I Portraiture Depictions of Queen Elizabeth I Elizabeth Tudor or Queen Elizabeth I was and is one of the greatest monarchs in English history. Obtaining the crown at a young age of twenty five, she seized a bankrupt country caused by previous rulers, a country with an unstable religion, and loose ties with other great powers of the world. Elizabeth I ruled for nearly half a century granting her the remembrance with reigning with stability, the flourishment of the arts, and increased trade. Elizabeth s sense of duty to her people was very admirable and that is one the reasons that makes her such a great monarch. She was committed to her people and never swayed from doing such that. In saying that, one of the ways people showed their love and to show her greatness it was represented in portraits. Portraiture of Queen Elizabeth I illustrates an evolution of her reign over England and Ireland in the years of 1558 1603. Early portraits of young Elizabeth showcase what is going on her life or what is important to her at that specific time. Objects such as prayer books and status clothing would be displayed in the earlier portraits. Later portraits of Elizabeth also showcase her life and the importance of virginity, purity, crowns, and other effects. Representations of simplicity to later complex imagery are used to exhibit her power as well as allusions or stories to convey the Elizabeth. Progressively, Elizabeth transformed into the goddess Gloriana, engrossed in imperial
  • 6. Social Stratification In The United States A society is made up of different classifications of people, and the way they are classified is based on the resources they own. What sociologists call this is social stratification. According to the book, society ranks individuals into socioeconomic stratums based on their income, wealth, education, and race. Individuals are put into a specific social classthat describes the way they live. The way social stratification divides and categories people vary from each society. Social stratification also implies that resources are often unevenly distributed. In which case results in a class system. In the United States there are three class distinctions: upper, middle, and lower class. There are additional subcategories that pertain to each class. For example the middle classcan be divided into the upper middle class and the lower middle class. The difference between the two is that people who belong in the upper middle class tend to have more comfortable incomes, while the lower middle class has a harder time maintaining their decent lifestyle. Furthermore, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When doing a job interview, the one seeking a job has to dress appropriately; there is a dress code individuals must follow to be perceived as professional. The same concept can be applied when we talk about social classes. We can manipulate how others see us not just by the way we act, but by what we own too. I m talking about materialistic objects such as cars, houses, clothes and shoes. Even jewelry and handbags. If an individual only has expensive world known brands, then we assume they have the money to purchase those materials. If I, for example, was born into a low social class, and want to show others that I have moved into the upper class, I can shop at retail stores that sell known brands. It doesn t necessarily have to be a lie. People have managed to move up the social ladder. The upper
  • 7. The Effects Of Media Violence On Violent Entertainment Discussion The attraction or appeal of violence in media entertainment is a topic that has received consistent but quiet academic attention, while the effects of media violence continues to draw primary focus from the public and scholars alike. This discrepancy perhaps lays in the difficulty of the question or rather the reality of the question; how can the same people who develop, and by and large, abide by established moral and criminal codes condemning violence choose to engage in violent films, television programs and video games and actually enjoy it? Several theories have been posited; some with more merit than others, since non fictional and fictional violence first hit the small (and big) screen. Research has shown that personality is a significant contributing factor to the enjoyment of violent entertainment. This is an important finding as it not only distinguishes between those who enjoy violent entertainment and those who do not but also draws attention to the different reasons why different people enjoy violent entertainment. The identification of trait aggression and anti social tendencies as predictors for enjoyment of violent entertainment is especially important. Given the widely accepted positive correlation between exposure to violent entertainment and aggressive or violent behaviour the current finding should encourage further research into practical and clinical recommendations to mediate the attractiveness of media violence to people already
  • 8. The Beliefs Of A Christian (iii) Their beliefs as a Christian. Over the years my Christian Beliefs have evolved, and I am a grateful for that. I have found that these conversations can turn negative very quickly without grace and love, for everyone is on journey, specifically the individuals I live life with that are experiencing homelessness and displacement. I do my best to be sensitive to everyone s current understanding of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I find that when I am interacting and discussing aspects of my Christian Beliefs I tend to highlight The Apostles Creed. However my belief system is in no shape or form limited to just that. Below is a detailed outline of my Christian Beliefs. 1)Triune God. God is one God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 2)Scripture. The writings in the Old Testament and New Testament are the inspired word of God. 3)Salvation through Jesus Christ. God s redeeming love is active to save sinners through Jesus incarnate life and teachings, through his atoning death, his resurrection, his sovereign presence through history, and his promised return. 4)Sanctification. The grace of sanctification draws one toward the gift of Christian perfection, which Wesley described as a heart habitually filled with the love of God and neighbor and as having the mind of Christ and walking as he walked. 5)Sacraments. I believe strongly in the Holy Baptism as a profession and mark of difference whereby Christians are distinguished
  • 9. English Song Critique The first goal I set for the second quarter was to Write and record an English song. While I did not completely finish a song, I developed instrumentals, lyrics, and melody lines for two songs. Interestingly, I brainstormed the ideas for both projects while walking my dog, Bandit. The first, which I have tentatively titled Melody, started with me humming a rhythmic piano part, then a melody line. Next, I developed the instrumental in GarageBand, with an electric guitar part as a placeholder for the vocals. I found some really cool techno/electronic effects, percussion parts, and bass parts, and utilized them in my project. I scribbled some rough lyric ideas, then brought them into class one day and implored Vanessa to help me finish the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The singer could be the significant other of a criminal, or perhaps their child, wondering about the psychological meaning behind the criminal s behavior. It will likely develop into a story song, which contains the easily recognized elements of telling a narrative, linear story beginning, middle and end, with a recognizable story arc that contains the classic elements of drama and delivery; it also has relatable imagery to appeal to audiences (Anderson). Unlike Melody, for this song I developed the melody of the chorus first, building around the opening line you re an outlaw. While I was singing, I couldn t help but feel that the song sounded Taylor Swift like, which is a very different sound from my other two pieces. I didn t want to forget my song idea, so as soon as I returned home after the walk, I recorded the melody in GarageBand using my MIDI keyboard and worked out some lyrics. I fleshed out the track with guitar chords and a drum beat, and later recorded the vocals in the vocal booth. In the second semester, I will compose the verses and
  • 10. Ideology And Ideology 1.In this essay I will be discussing the difference between world views and ideologies and I will also elaborate between the South African motto and the different worldviews. I will then explain the influence of this motto for myself as a student teacher and citizen of South Africa. Knowledge production is a highly political and politicized practice (Morrell, 2014). 2.A worldview is a philosophy of life or concept of the world: a Christian world view revolves around the battle of good and evil (University, 1884). A person s worldview can be affected by many factors in life it can be affected by their inherited characteristics, by their life situations and their background experiences, by their values in life, by their attitudes and lastly their habits that they developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3.What is the difference between world view and ideology ? These two terms have a slightly difference nuances in their meaning and in their connotation. Both these terms have a close meaning. A way to distinguish between the two meanings is to take note that ideology is more proactive. The ideology will dictate what your actions or policies are where a worldview is more of a perspective or an explanation of the way that things are, for example a common worldview is that all humans life is valuable. 4.Diverse people unite is our South African Motto. We strive to get all the different races to be valued the same and to have the same opportunities. We strive to get racism out of the way so that we can live in peace. In other countries they don t have a problem with racism. One worldview that everyone in South Africa differs about is Christianity. Not all the different cultures have the same beliefs, some belief in other gods and some believe in Jesus Christ. We as South African citizens have to accept the fact that not all people have the same views and then move
  • 11. Life Coaches Research Paper Entrepreneur and life coaches are an important part of many people s lives. They are skilled at teaching people the skills to make better choices and attain new goals in their financial and personal lives. Coaches boost the confidence of even the most respected Fortune 500 CEOs. Hollywood success stories acknowledge how they have learned from the experience of having a life coach. However, even coaches can learn from their own experiences. Self Coaching Can Work Even life coaches stress to others in the profession, the art of self teaching. While everyday people may not be experienced enough to successfully coach themselves, life coaches appreciate the concept. Self talk can be equally as defeatist in nature. This is one important aspect
  • 12. Essay on Southeastern Native American Literature Southeastern Native American Literature Native American literature from the Southeastern United States is deeply rooted in the oral traditions of the various tribes that have historically called that region home. While the tribes most integrally associated with the Southeastern U.S. in the American popular mind the FIVE CIVILIZED TRIBES (Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole) were forcibly relocated to Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma) from their ancestral territories in the American South, descendents of those tribes have created compelling literary works that have kept alive their tribal identities and histories by incorporating traditional themes and narrative elements. A formally educated member of the Cherokee tribe who was born in Georgia, Boudinot was the editor of the bilingual newspaper The Cherokee Phoenix, the first periodical published by Native Americans. Poor Sarah was not commercial fiction it was a propagandistic tract from a religious advocate. The first overtly commercial work of fiction written by a Native American was Life and Adventures of Joaquin Murieta, the Celebrated California Bandit (1854), a best selling novel set in California during
  • 13. Sigmund Freud s Oedipus Complex ( Schultz Sydney P. 42 ) For my final submission, I will be reviewing everything that I had learned in class, about psychology from the early days of Freud all the way to preset day. Growing up, Freud s father was strict and authoritarian; Freud felt superior to his father by the age of 2. His mother was protective and loving towards him, which led Freud to feel a passionate, sexual attachment to her. This situation set the stage for his Oedipus complex (Schultz Sydney P. 42). Like this complex, most of Freud s theories reflect his own childhood. Freud later described personality as being made up of three structures, first, the Id. The Id is the aspect of personality that deals with instincts; it operates according to the pleasure principle. Freud described the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freud described the reality principle as being governed by the Ego, which controls the instant gratification mentality of the Id. Lastly is the Superego, which is the moral aspect of personality. It is the internalization of parental and societal values and standards. Freud thought that this aspect was developed by the age of 5 or 6 and consist initially of the rules established by our parents (Schultz Sydney P. 51). The belief that this aspect of our personality being completely developed by the age of 5 or 6 is one of the concepts that Freud and Jung disagreed on. Freud and Jung also disagreed on dream analysis and how to interpret dreams. Using dream analysis Freud thought that he could learn about an individual through the interpretation of their dreams. He thought that our experiences and desires would come to light in our dreams, even our sexually repressed desires. Freud also thought that different inanimate objects represented phallic symbols or hidden meaning in ones dreams (Schultz Sydney P. 87). This is just another example of how Freud incorporated a sexual meaning or desire into his theories. Like Freud, Carl Jung believed that dream analysis allowed for a window into the unconscious mind. However, unlike Freud s theory about dream interpretation, Jung didn t believe that content of all dreams were sexual or that they disguised their true meaning. Jung thought that dreams were more symbolic, that dreams could have different interpretations according to
  • 14. The Moral And Ethical Ethics Of Tyco Introduction This paper is about the lack of moral and ethical leadership of Tyco International s former highest paid chief executive officer (CEO) Dennis Kozlowski (Kaplan, 2009). Tyco International is a business leader in Global Fire Safety and Security Solutions. Tyco s United States headquarters are in Princeton, New Jersey and the Corporate Headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. According to Kaplan (2009), over a decade, Dennis Kozlowski was a charismatic and ambitious CEO who had earned the nickname Deal a Day Dennis because of his notorious business decisions including aggressive and speedy acquisitions. Dennis was a leader determined to make Tyco the greatest company and succeeded well in transforming it from a $1.5 billion manufacturer into an industrial corporation worth more than $100 billion (Kaplan, 2009). Ethical issues In June 2002, Kozlowski was accused by the Manhattan district attorney Robert Morgenthau, of evading $1 million in sales tax on the purchase of rare artwork (Timeline of the Tyco Internationalscandal, 2005). This investigation opened up a can of worms indicting Kozlowski along with Tyco s former chief financial officer (CFO) Mark H. Swartz of looting millions of dollars from the company, misconstruing financial records and doctoring business records (Brickey, 2008). In September 2002, Kozlowski and Swartz were accused of stealing more than $170 million dollars from Tyco and swindling $430 million in the sale of company shares.

Both of these societies established routes along the silk road to increase the wealth and prosperity of their civilizations. However, though both of these countries utilized the trade of silk and other goods along the silk road, they also had differences. • 19. Hardness Of Water And High Quality Water Essay Introduction For this experiment, the test of hardness of water is crucial and the water hardness refers the existence and amount of the dissolved divalent cations Ca2+ and Mg2+ (some other polyvalent cations included) in the chemical properties of water. (Thompson 2014) The reason that the hardness of water is quite important is because the hardness of water is the determination and the measurement of the quality of water and high quality water is critical for human and even for other living species as necessary living source. In order to measure the hardness of water, several methods to measure the divalent cation concentration should be used, which are TDS, EDTA and AA (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry). EDTA and AA can measure the value of the hardness and TDS is about observation without specific value. Thus, EDTA and AA will be used for the measurement of the concentration of divalent cations in water samples. For EDTA, it is the agent, ethylene diamine tetra acetic for dissolved divalent cations Ca2+ and Mg2+ with the appropriate indicator EBT (eriochrome black) to analyze divalent cations in water. By using the titration, the end point is the color change from red to blue by Ca2+ and Mg2+. Thus the concentration of the Ca2+ and Mg2+ can represent the hardness of water sample showing as specific values. For AA, it is a technique to determine and measure the dissolved metal in the sample. The atoms in the sample that has energy separation can absorb the

That sort of act would have had a greater political impact upon the voting public than an ad campaign explaining the ills of Newt Gingrich. Two major events shaped Dorothea Lange as a young women. One of those, was childhood polio, that caused her to have a partially paralyzed leg and limp. This would bother her for the rest of her life, saying that her limp effected everything she did. Lange stated, I think it perhaps was the most important thing that happened to me. It formed me, guided me, instructed me, helped me, and humiliated me. All those things at once. I ve never gotten over it, and I am aware of the force and the power of it. The second event was her fathers unannounced desertion when she was twelve. Soon after, her motherchanged both of their names to her maiden name, Lange. Dorothea was lived and went to school on Manhattan s impoverished lower east side. She was so interested in the rich... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dorothea would be contacted by a professor who said that they had a grant from the state of California to investigate agricultural labor, and he wanted Visual support in the form of photographs. This would grow to become her most famous work. She traveled the dust bowl and California s imperial valley, documenting through photographs and captions the life and daily struggles of migrant agricultural workers. Her photographs helped to raise funds for these workers and their families by being published in newspapers and requesting donations. Many of her photos were set up so the families would appear as in despair and desperate as possible. By doing this, it maximized the emotion felt by the photographs viewers. Dorothea Lange was one of the most influential people of the Great Depression, and her work helped to spur the America s war on poverty and

I find that both the crude oil price and the real GDP per capita in China have overall rising trend from 1980 to 2014. At the same time, fluctuation of the crude oil price has put pressure on the price level and economic growth in China. In this research I ask: What is the interaction between crude oil price and China s economy? A considerable amount of economic literature have analyzed the impact of oil price on the GDP in developed countries. Such as Jimenez and Sanchez (2004) have studied links between oil price and macro economy in several industrial OECD countries. They found that oil price fluctuations have considerable effects on economic activities. We do not know the interaction between the crude oil price and economy in China. China is interesting in this content because it has large population which affects the demand for crude oil. Also, China s GDP is growing rapidly, and the dependence on imported oil have increased in China, but only a few studies have focused on China. In Ghalayini s study, by investigating the relationship between oil price and economic growth, the researcher found that as economic growth increases the demand for oil increases which pushes up the oil prices. While the increase in GDP growth and economic activity have led to an increase in the energy demand, a feedback relationship exists which can mitigate this effect (Ghalayini, 2011). In this research, I will use granger causality test and regression models to study interaction between the crude oil price and GDP in China. There are several alternative approaches,

Through reading Graetz s History of the Jews Danny is quick to believe the criticism of Hasidism and becomes disappointed with his father and his teachings which relates to his frustration at his father and his own inability to communicate with him. Although Reuven does suggest that he takes Graetz s work with a grain of salt. Danny also begins to teach himself German so that he can read Freud. In reading Freud, Danny is doing something he enjoys although it would displease his father. Danny is beginning to do something because it is what he wants and likes to do. Through this he begins to very slowly find his own voice. After the study session with Danny, Reuven goes home and tells his father about Danny and his conflicting feelings about Hasidism after reading Graetz and his interest in learning German and reading Freud. David is astonished by how great a mind Danny is but also worries about Danny reading behind his father s back and the part he takes in it. But he will come to me to discuss what he reads, he said. At least there will be a balance (Potok 161). David Malter is telling Reuven that we guide Danny so he has a good balance of books that he is exposed to. By having this Danny will be able to better balance the knowledge he gets from his readings. Danny will continue to take in

  • 41. Music And The Second World War Music and the Second World War Adam Griffin South Piedmont Community College Music Appreciation 110 Mr. Campbell In World War II, jazz absolutely was the music of freedom, and then in the Cold War, behind the Iron Curtain, same thing. It was all underground, but they needed the food of freedom that jazz offered Herbie Hancock. Looking back into history, you could create a timeline of events with nothing but song titles. Music was not just music, it was a lifestyle. Every major event in history has numerous songs that go along with or describe the happening. In the following paragraphs, I will describe aspects and elements of music for pre World War II, World War II, and post World War II. One could say that music was a form of expression throughout the times of war, and the songs produced during this time period clearly express all aspects of life before, during, and after the war. Pre World War II had a huge impact on the course of our nation and our world; not only musically speaking, but also in the terms of historical events. During this time we saw events such as the Wright brother s first flight of an airplane in 1903, Ford Motor Co. introducing its first Model T vehicle in 1908, World War I from 1914 to 1918, the stock market crash in 1929 resulting in the start of the great depression, the beginning of World War II in Europe in 1939, and the end of the great depression in 1940. When musically speaking of this time period, one style stands out

In these stories there are both similarities and differences. In both short stories there is an unexpected ending. Although both endings are very different in many ways. Literary devices that are used in both stories also show great similarities, and differences. Ironyis a literary device that is used in both stories. A quote in The Lotteryreads, Thought we were going to have to get on without you Tessie . This quote shows that Tessie a loud, cheerful lady in town is late to the drawing for the lottery. Which is ironic because Tessie, who is late, actually wins the lottery and as her prize she is sadly stoned to death by the people of the town. In the Possibility of Evil it states When she came into the grocery, half a dozen people turned away from the shelves and the counters to wave at her or call out good morning . This specific quote is describing Miss Strangeworth, and how everyone in town knows her, and loves her presence. The quote shows irony because while everyone in town thinks she is nice and friendly, she is actually causing drama by writing letters about people in town. Based off only of suspicions. These two quotes showing irony are similar because in The Lottery , Tessie is clueless of what is to happen just like the town is clueless in The Possibility of Evil . Tessie isn t expecting herself to win the lottery/die just like
