Elizabeth Wakefield, 16 And Of The Industrial Revolution...
In the waning days of 1839, the small farmland of Frithville, Lincolnshire, witnessed the marriage of
two teenagers. Elizabeth Wakefield, 16 and William Sharp 17, had set up their new life some distance
from their parents on a farm where William could labour, as most Lincolnshire men did. The
substantial farm on Stount Road, owned by a 30 year old bachelor, Charles Ireland, functioned with
the hands of at least 3 other young men just as William plus 4 male and one female servants, none of
whom were over 25 years. Three Simpson toddlers dwelled nearby to occasionally brighten the hard
working family s daily lives. This is the setting for the birth of Sarah Ann whom Elizabeth delivered
on February 5, 1842.
The early 1840s in Lincolnshire, like the rest of England, was in the middle of the Industrial
Revolution that included the struggle for democracy, development of the Poor
Law and penitentiary system as well as significant changes in the status and powers of both women
and children. Then there was the potato blight later in the decade that ravaged Europe, England,
Scotland, but in particular Ireland.
Lincolnshire was included in this disaster, but as its agriculture was more diversified and hence the
population not so dependent on the potato, the hardship that befell the citizens was more muted than it
would have otherwise would have been. All of this meant that there was great changes and dangers
faced by the ordinary folk. With the birth of Sarah Ann, and later her

The Six Cultural Differences Of Barbie In China
Introduction
Mattel attempted to incorporate Barbie into China by opening a Barbie store. The business failed due
to Mattel not researching the market and how to incorporate the products into the Chinese market.
There are many cultural differences that Mattel needed to take into consideration before they
attempted to bring Barbie to China. Problems Mattel Faced
According to Wang (2012), Mattel did not fully understand what Chinese girls and women wanted
from a doll. Femininity is different in China compared to what it can be defined as in the United
States. Mattel opened a large store in Shanghai that not only had Barbie dolls, but also accessories and
activities for consumers such as a runway and dressing rooms. The Barbie doll was not an icon in
China like it has become in the United States and the store suffered because the relevance of Barbie
and associated products was not a part of what the Chinese girls wanted. Six Cultural Issues and
Mattel Performance
Values and Attitudes
The Chinese people want to have relationships with possible business partners before they do business
with them. The Chinese believe in socializing and getting to know people as a way to see what type of
person they will be dealing with. This is called guanxi (Firoz, Nadeem M. Topchaya, Olga, 2016).
Chinese businesses will not focus on efficiency and view change as disruptive to their business. When
Mattel brought the Barbie store into Shanghai, the Chinese people did not know Mattel and how
Mattel would be conducting business in their city. This caused uncertainty and Chinese people not
knowing if they wanted to do business with Mattel.
Dress codes
Chinese women tend to dress more conservatively. Chinese women often do not wear midriff shirts or
plunging necklines, but tend to wear clothes that do not accentuate their body and curves(Aaker
Schmitt, 2001). Barbie is known to have curves and tight fitting clothing that more fits the western
culture.
Marketing styles differences
When marketing in China you need to focus on the consumers getting to know the product before
placing it in stores or opening a new business. The Barbie store opened in a single location in a large
country which could be

Riding The Pine: Tim Bowling s personal reflection of professional hockey in Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey
Hey Goodbye
In Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Goodbye, Tim Bowling, an author, poet, and a fishing boat deckhand
(Stewart et al 237), articulates how professional hockey has evolved over his lifetime. He laments how
a game he was enamoured with no longer captures his complete attention and is not as relevant in his
life as it once was. However, Bowling admits he still has a sheepish curiosity for the latest news and
highlights (238), is still mildly attracted (239) to the game for its grace, beauty, and skill (239), and
yearns for a Stanley Cup Final with two Canadian teams; most importantly a final with the Toronto
Maple Leafs and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like many Canadians, Bowling can recite simple statistics about the game; six of seven Sutter
brothers played in the NHL (239) or Bobbi Clarke s battle with diabetes are a couple of examples. It is
easy to determine, from his narrative and expressions, Bowling is a fan of hockey and has been for his
entire life. Like many other fans, he realizes the game has changed and in his opinion, not for the
better. Along with his narrative, Bowling uses contrast to support his opinion in such a way that
balances the old traditions with the new nuances of the game. For example, Bowling draws on some
parallels of one of the newest superstars in the league, Sidney Crosby, to unequivocally the greatest
player of the game Wayne Gretzky: Sidney Crosby is expected to challenge the scoring statistics of
Gretzky one day (239). Bowling continues to use contrast comparing the years it takes to master
skating with the simple fundamentals of running, jumping, and catching (239); basic skills used in
baseball, basketball and football. His view is that hockey players are the most skilled athletes in the
world and other athletes pale in comparison. Furthermore, he adds to this contrast by stating if you can
t skate, you can t even take to the playing surface. (239); this description compliments the demands,
skill, grace and beauty of the game of

How Organic Farming Affects The Growth Of The Green Movement
Up until the 1920 s, most agriculture and farming was done organically. Farmers used products that
were naturally earth made to control the weeds, pest, and help the soil maintain its nutritional value.
There wasn t any chemicals or insecticide until the Second World War, when the researchers discover
that nerve gas was able to kill insects. The first insecticide was created in 1939 by Paul Miller. Since
then organic farming has dramatically decreased and more insecticides has become extremely popular.
In the 1960 s and 1970 s the Be Natural approach started, people were becoming more concerned with
their health and environment. This started up the growth of the green movement. The green movement
helped conserve the environment and push farmers to go back to organic farming. People have
become concerned with their health due to all the chemicals now put into farming. Organic Farming
plays a huge role in health, government, and the environment. The pros and cons of organic farming
vary in health concerns. For a product to be completely organic there must be no chemicals,
insecticides, hormones, or any product that is not earth made being used in the farming process.
Nutrient value is usually a lot higher in organic products because there is no chemical use. The
micronutrients from the rich soil, without chemical use decrease health risks. The chemicals used to
help grow the plants and animals often take away some the nutritional value. The plant or animals

Who Was Responsible For The Triangle Fire
The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire happened on March 25, 1911. The Triangle Fire is remembered as one of
the most tragic workplace incidents in the history of Industrial America. This tragic fire killed 146
female factory workers, some as young as age 15. During this time there was many problems with
sweatshops and unsafe working conditions, this fire proved those problems to be true. The Triangle
Shirtwaist Company was owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. The company was started by Blanck
and Harris in 1900. Their company occupied the top three floors (8,9,10) of the Asch Building in
Manhattan. Each floor of their company had hundreds of girls at sewing machines, the floors were
very overcrowded. Many of the girls that worked at this company were ... Show more content on

The building had four elevators to reach the factory floors, however, in 1911 only one of those four
elevators were functional, workers also had to file down a long narrow hallway to reach it. In addition
to those elevators there were two stairways down. One of those stairways was unlocked. The other
stairway down was locked from the outside. The building also had a fire escape, but it was very
narrow and couldn t get that many people down it fast enough. With what happened on the Triangle
Fire of 1911, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris should be blamed for the tragic aftermath and so many
women dead with the fire. Their punishment for 146 females dying was very inadequate. Seeming
how they did not take the proper safety precautions and their factory was not up to city codes. Blanck
and Harris did not get charged of manslaughter or anything for the 146 females dying in this fire,
though they definitely should have. There had been strikes in years before about better working
conditions and more safe precautions in the factory. One reporter that was an eyewitness to the fire
said, I remembered their great strike of last year, in which these girls demanded more sanitary
workrooms, and more safety precautions in the shops. These dead bodies told the results. 1 The
workers wanted safer conditions the year before, so much so that they went on strike. Nothing
changed through this strike and the worst thing happened, the unsafe conditions killed 146

The Marriage Of Arranged Marriage
For Better or for Worse My parents had a choice to marry for love, but, unfortunately, their parents did
not. Imagine the world where family members or close friends chose your spouse based on their
expectations. Should this be the way to go about marriage, or does this hinder a person s ability to live
for themselves? In India alone, around 90% of marriages are arranged by their families (CNN). They
would choose who ever they believe would best fit the person, but not necessarily love them
(Queano). Although arranged marriage is a custom in many countries, is it the right thing to do?
People deserve the right to choose for themselves whom they will marry. Marriage is about love and
finding the right person that makes you the happiest, rather than someone who s just there for your
benefit. According to Asia Pacific Economic Blog:
An arranged marriage is one where the families have pre decided on a spouse for the child. The two
people getting married often do not know each other, and have no choice in the matter. It is a highly
traditional practice in many Indian and Asian cultures, and has been practiced for centuries. The
debate on this issue is difficult because the views differ greatly depending on your culture. (Economic
Blog )
We the people of America have the freedom to make our own decisions. Unfortunately, this is not the
case for many people worldwide. These people are limited to the choices they are allowed to make. I
believe marriage is a very important stage

Examples Of Perfective Aspect
1. Introduction
1.1 What is Aspect? Aspect refers to how an event or action is to be viewed with respect to time, rather
than to its actual location in time. We can illustrate this using the following examples:
[1] Venkat fell in love on his eighteenth birthday
[2] Venkat has fallen in love
[3] Venkat is falling in love
In [1], the verb fell tells us that Venkat fell in love in the past, and specifically on his eighteenth
birthday. This is a simple past tense verb.
In [2] also, the action took place in the past, but it is implied that it took place quite recently.
Furthermore, it is implied that is still relevant at the time of speaking Venkat has fallen in love, and
that s why he s behaving the way he is. It is worth noting that we cannot say *Venkat has fallen in love
on his eighteenth birthday. The auxiliary has here encodes what is known as Perfective Aspect, and the
auxiliary itself is known as the Perfective Auxiliary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reason, we call it Progressive Aspect, and the auxiliary is called the Progressive Auxiliary.
Aspect always includes tense. In [2] and [3] above, the aspectual auxiliaries are in the present tense,

Straying from the Tradtional Creole Lifestyle in The...
The Creole society demands high moral and a traditional lifestyle from the women in The Awakening,
by Kate Chopin. Edna Pontillier, the main character, enters a rebellious state of mind as she explores
the awakening the other characters influence. The other characters in The Awakening create Edna by
influencing her decisions, independence, and sexual desires throughout the story. Mademoiselle Reisz,
Robert, and Alcee Arobin challenge Edna to fly above the Creole traditions and become more in touch
with her sexuality, and encourage her to be an independent woman while Edna s husband, Leonce,
Madame Ratignolle, and Edna s father conflict with Edna because they want her to be a traditional
Creole wife and mother to her children and try to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edna s husband, Leonce Pontillier, becomes aware that she is not the woman he married when she
begins to argue with him about her duties as a wife and a mother. He could see plainly that she was
not herself. That is, he could not see that she was becoming herself and daily casting aside that
fictitious self which we assume like a garment with which to appear before the world (Chopin 96).
Leonce acts as a benchmark throughout the novel reminding Edna that she is bound to her family and
makes her feel trapped. He is her reality check. Edna acknowledges that she is a poor mother and wife
since she does not fit in with the traditions of the Creole society. When Edna s father comes to visit, he
is disappointed that Edna is not living up to Leonce s expectations since she is not actually from a
different lifestyle. He mentions that she might just be different than other women and directs Leonce
to be more strict with her saying, Put your foot down good and hard; the only way to manage a wife
(Chopin 119). Edna tries hard to entertain her father during his stay to prove to him that she can live in
the traditional society, though she is happy when he leaves. Edna s father conflicts with her views of
her life which compels her to act more traditional when he visits. Alcee Arobin is the man that all the
women wish they had. He knows how to flatter the women, especially Edna. Arobin

Gas turbine blades are subjected to high thermal loads caused by the high temperature of the gases
entering the cascade. The pressure difference between the blade pressure surface and the blade suction
surface induces tip leakage flow, which increases heat transfer in the blade tip region. In this paper, the
three dimensional flow and heat transfer are examined for an internally cooled blade cascade with tip
injection using numerical technique. The three dimensional turbulent flow was obtained by solving
Reynolds averaged Navier Stokes equations and the energy equation. The Shear Stress Transport
(SST) k  model was employed to represent turbulent flow. The cooling air is injected from eleven
holes with 3 mm diameter arranged along the blade chamber line. The operating and boundary

Abraham Flexner s Medical Education Reform
Abraham Flexner was one of the most influential advocates of medical education reform in the United
States. Born to German Jewish immigrants on November 13, 1866 in Louisville, Kentucky, Flexner
attended Johns Hopkins and earned a bachelor s degree in 1886. Once earning his bachelor s degree,
Flexner returned to Kentucky to teach Latin and Greek at the high school in Louisville. In 1890
Flexner opened Mr. Flexner s School , his own private college preparatory school based on the idea
that there would be no formal curriculum, no examinations, and the students would not be graded on,
nor any academic records kept of their work. Remarkably, the school stood out at preparing students
for prestigious colleges (Institute for Advanced Study, n.d.). Flexner closed his school in 1905 and
returned to college where he received his master s degree from Harvard in 1906.
Flexner wrote a book entitled The American College in 1908 which was highly critical of American
universities and their teaching methodology. Flexner s book gained attention from Dr. Henry S.
Pritchett, President of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and as a result,
invited Flexner to join his staff (Kappa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

more critical in his report. Flexner referred to the teaching in these schools as didactic, the schools
taught very little anatomy, and were basically private ventures designed only to make money; no
applicant who could pay the fee and any student who paid his tuition was assured of a degree (Flexner,

Essay On American Flag Desecration
The Constitution of the United States of America is something that all Americans value greatly; it
protects our basic human rights by forbidding the government of violating them. Recently, there has
been much discussion about a possible violation of said rights, specifically creating a law to ban the
desecration of the American flag. President elect Donald Trump recently stated his opinion on social
media about the issue, however he proposed inconceivable punishments for the action. This issue of
desecrating the American flag is deeply rooted in American history, including multiple Supreme Court
decisions.
The Supreme Court has twice ruled that the desecration of the American flag was a form of free
speech and is protected by the first amendment. The first Amendment states, Congress shall make no
law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the
freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the
Government for a redress of grievances. The constitution clearly states that the people have the rights

offensive and baffling for various reasons. Being that the Supreme Court has ruled that desecrating the
flag is legal and an expression of speech, Trump certainly should not be giving such consequences for
something that is entirely legal. If flag burning were to become illegal, a loss of citizenship and a year
in jail would be extremely harsh and an unreasonable punishment, perhaps instead a less excessive
punishment such as a small

The Witch And Witchcraft
For many centuries, witches have been around. The meaning of the word witch has changed over time.
Before, it was a gender neutral term but it is now associated with women. There are different types of
witches and they each had different powers. The word witch came from the word Wicca which is an
old English word and slowly, it was changed to wicked by the Catholic Church. For as long as it was
around, witches and witchcraft were looked at negatively and those who practiced witchcraft were
poorly treated. Despite the time difference and geographical areas, there were similarities in how
women, witches, and those who were accused were treated. Treatment towards witches was influenced
by oral stories, experiences, and pop culture.
The word Wicca means wisdom. The witches were turned to when one needed help. Witches of
different types used spells, magic, and potions. Many had feared witches, especially the Catholic
church. Slowly the meaning was changed to wicked. Some types of witches included witch doctors,
Halloween witch, seductress or sire, Wiccan, voodoo witch, satanist, and many more. A witch doctor
and voodoo witch are someone who uses power to heal and protect against other s magic. A
Halloween witch is is a stereotypical witch that is portrayed as the complete opposite of what a
woman should be, and is represented as an ugly, old, evil, hag. A seducing woman who uses her looks
as a mean to lure one in is a seductress or sire. A Wiccan is one who practices the old religion and
believes in the power of the Earth. One who worships the Devil is a satanist. Harmless or not, witches
and those accused of witches were poorly treated. In different places, treatment was similar. Treatment
included beatings, imprisonment, and death. Many were accused, outed, interrogated, shamed,
arrested, tortured, segregated, or killed. Anyone and everyone could be accused but the major targets
were women, widows, the poor, the elderly, those who used herbal remedies, and those with
knowledge in medicine and astrology.
In Africa, specifically Northern Ghana, women were terrorized when accused of witchcraft ( Witches
In Exile ). Women who were accused were cast from their family, sent to witch camps, and were

Medicare must be reformed in order to provide the promised services for the individuals that are
currently receiving benefits and for the future survival of the program.
Medicare was established by the federal government to provide healthcare insurance initially for the
elderly and included the disabled a few years after the program s inception. As of 2013, there were
52.3 million beneficiaries of Medicare, with an average of $11,910 spent on each individual for

Book of Sand
1. The book had affected the narrator to a great extent. At first he did not care for the book, until the
stranger selling Bibles said the number of pages in this book is literally infinite. No page is the first
page; no page is the last . This intrigued the narrator s mind. After he had bought the book, he began
investigating. He noted down things in the book. He began losing sleep from the investigation and
when he actually got sleep, his dreams were about the book. As it states in the short story, At night,
during the rare intervals spared me by insomnia, I dreamed of the book . He had grown an obsession
with the book, which altered his lifestyle and forced him to hide the book in the library. 2. The literary

However at this point he had already lost his friends and the things he valued. The book had taken up
a great extent of his time that could not be taken back, because unlike The Book of Sand, his life was
not infinite. 6. The literary device used is a metaphor. I think this because when the narrator says the
best place to hide a leaf is in the forest , he is referring to a way to hide The Book of Sand. At first he
considered destroying the evil thing. Although he thought that the burning of an infinite book might be
similarly infinite, and suffocate the planet in smoke . Therefore he thought to hide the book in plain
sight. Hiding a leaf in the forest is like hiding a book in a library. He hid the book on one of the library
s damp shelves in the basement and tried not to notice where exactly he put it. He did this so he and
anyone else wouldn t be able to find the monstrous book. He didn t want to be a prisoner of the book
anymore. The book had ruined his life and took away time, the most precious thing we have in life. He
didn t want to be trapped by the isolation of the book and so he hid it where it could never be

Joran Van Der Sloot Biography
A week after Holloway s disappearance, police arrested the last men seen with Holloway: Joran Van
der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe. In the beginning, the stories of all three men matched.
They stated that they all went to the beach and eventually dropped Holloway back off at the Holiday
Inn. However, this claim was proven to be false after video tapes were reviewed showing that the
Kalpoe car never went to the hotel (Joran van der Sloot Biography, 2016).
The two Kalpoe brothers then changed their story and told authorities that Holloway made them leave
her and Joran van der Sloot at a fishermans hut on the beach nearby. The brothers went on to say that
they never heard from Natalee again (Joran van der Sloot Biography, 2016).

testimony of the three men. With no evidence they could be held on, and because of the fact Joran s

Over the course of the investigation, several individuals were arrested and questioned. The stories of
the three main figures, the Kalpoe brothers and Joran van der Sloot, changed continuously, especially
that of Joran. A complete timeline taken from Crime and Investigation.com shows a more

How 1960s Has Impacted And Influenced Today s Society
How have the 1960s dramatically impacted and influenced today s society? In today s society, there
are many controversial topics that we are facing today; we have the 1960s to thank for those things.
The sixties was one of the most impactful decades pertaining to culture revolutions; it is the decade
that brought into play some of the problems and privileges that the present is dealing with now. The
sixties brought the gay movement, women s rights, the drug revolution, and has also impacted music
as well. One of the most well known things about the sixties is its music. Bands in the sixties started to
break the conservative boundaries by talking about drugs and sex in their music; the drugs and sex
revolution in this music also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drugs highly influence music in the sixties with bands such as The Byrds, The Doors, The Grateful
Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Strawberry Alarm Clock, and The Beatles. These bands took inspiration
from the affects that the drugs had on them with their psychedelic properties. Drugs were also just
starting to get introduced and people were highly influenced with positive drug propaganda ( The 60 s
). So, the positivity about drugs were influencing the bands and the bands were influencing the people
and the more dugs being bought, the more people heard about them, and the more people heard about
them, the more they were used, so basically it was just an endless cycle of drug positivity.
So now there are more than a hundred thousand people in America who are being influenced by this
music that expresses sex and drug use in positive ways. Also, with the invention for the birth control
pill in 1960, the consequences of having sex lessened and now women could be just as involved in it
as men where. In 1962, 1.2 million American women were using it and by 1965 that number reached
to 2.3 million women (Nikolchev). In the 1950s, sex would have barley been herd of outside of
marriage, but now into the sixties, it became more and more common for teens and young adults to be
irresponsible.
In today s society sex and drugs are common place. Media now a days show, talk about, or make
references to sex. Anyone could turn on their TV and

Seduction in To His Mistress Going to Bed, Good Morrow, Corinna s Going A Maying, and To His

Throughout time, one of the greatest challenges mankind has faced is the sexual conquest of
womankind. In many cultures today, this challenge has evolved into an intricate courting process that
often involves buying the woman flowers, gifts, and meals to persuade her to have sex. Another device
that a man might use to seduce a woman is poetry. In the English language, the use of poetry to seduce
women may be traced back to the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Cavalier poets such
as Robert Herrick, John Donne, and Andrew Marvell embrace this method ... Show more content on

Thus, Herrick, Donne, and Marvell s consistent poetic reliance upon logical rhetoric, first person
plural narration, and imperative, interrogative, and conditional statements signifies the veritable
influence of these devices to convince women to have sex in late sixteenth and early seventeenth
century England.
While Herrick s famous Corinna s Going A Maying depends primarily on imperative statements, it
also features logical rhetoric and first person plural narration. Likewise, the overpowering ingredient
in Donne s Eligy XIX: To His Mistress Going to Bed is also the imperative statement, although he
also includes a dash of logic and interrogation. Similarly, Donne arranges interrogative statements,
logical reasoning, and first person plural narration into The Good Morrow. Marvell s To His Coy
Mistress is particularly unique in its ample use of conditional statements in combination with other
devices. To reiterate, the recurrence of literary elements in seduction poetry around the late sixteenth
and early seventeenth centuries in England clearly demonstrates their persuasive impact upon women
of the time.
Often considered to be the greatest Cavalier poet, Herrick focuses on pastoral themes and English
village customs in his poetry. Corinna s Going A Maying, a

Essentially, glow sticks are commonly used in laboratories for experiments and in the military for their
miscellaneous reasons. Due to safety, all should be precautious on instructions and handle the well [1].
There are many reasons to consider glow sticks, as they are a benefit to the society, aid in cutting
costs, provide safe lightning and power sources.
On the other hand, glow sticks can potentially damage our environment and also affect us as well if
they are handled in an aggressive and dangerous way. Additionally, due to the chemicals that glow
sticks contain, disposing procedures can be difficult. And if exposed, the chemicals can contaminate
our environment by polluting air with its poisonous fumes [5].

The United States Forest Service
The United States Forest Service is in favor of logging to a certain extent but there are several groups
that oppose logging in the United States. Groups such as NativeForest.org and EarthRoots.org state
that logging in the United States and specifically in industrial areas has led to deforestation and near
extinction of many animals. Forests cover 31% of the land area on the planet. They produce vital
oxygen and provide homes for people and wildlife. Many of the world s most threatened and
endangered animals live in forests, and 1.6 billion people rely on benefits forests offer, including food,
fresh water, clothing, traditional medicine and shelter.
However, forests around the world are under threat from deforestation, jeopardizing these benefits.
Deforestation comes in many forms, including fires, clear cutting for agriculture, ranching and
development, unsustainable logging for timber, and degradation due to climate change. This impacts
people s livelihoods and threatens a wide range of plant and animal species. Some 46 58 thousand
square miles of forest are lost each year, which is equivalent to 36 football fields every minute.
Forests play a critical role in mitigating climate change because they act as a carbon sink soaking up
carbon dioxide that would otherwise be free in the atmosphere and contribute to ongoing changes in
climate patterns. Deforestation undermines this important carbon sink function. It is estimated that
15% of all greenhouse gas emissions are the

The Education System Of Nigeria
1.0 Introduction
Education is said to be act or procedure of bestowing or securing general learning, building up the
forces of thinking and judgment, and by and large of setting oneself up or others mentally for
experienced life. The Ministry of Education is responsible for education in Nigeria. The education
framework in Nigeria is separated into Kindergarten, primary education, secondary education and
tertiary education.
2.1 Foundation Problem
The present example of Nigeria Education system, especially the Tertiary Institutions has been an
issue of sensitivity to the general public, government organizations, companies, educationists,
investors (home and abroad), graduates and diverse establishments. This paper took a gander at the
present state of education as far as the admission process, educational modules, academic staff,
students, funding, facilities, industrial collaborations, roles of government agencies and how it has
affected the quality of graduates produced that has ultimately led to an increased level of unemployed
graduates from Nigeria Tertiary Institution.
2.2 Overview of Nigeria Economy
Nigeria is as often as possible implied as the Giant of Africa , inferable from its inconceivable people
and economy. With around 184 million occupants, Nigeria is the most jammed country in Africa and
the seventh most swarmed country on the planet. Nigeria has one of the greatest masses of youth on

Although urine iodine samples have been shown to give reliable results for populations , they do not
provide usable measures of iodine intake for individuals due to large day to day variations.
Determining iodine intake via a 24 hour recall dietary record is not an accurate way to determine
habitual iodine intake. In order to determine an individual s habitual intake of iodine, it is estimated
that 20 50 days of dietary recall records would be needed. Data collection could be improved by using
a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) or a diet history interview that asks for usual intakes of iodine
containing foods. FFQ are more often used and preferred as they are more cost effective.
A major problem with dietary surveys is the likelihood of under reporting, where the participant either
changes their dietary behaviour because of survey participation or misrepresents their consumption to
appear healthier.2 It must also be considered that most young children are unable to recall their
intakes. Similarly, parents/carers of school aged children may not be aware of a child s total food
intake, which can lead to under reporting.

Abstract
This paper is based on the database systems. And will result in providing the whole new information
about that. Basically, database systems are the computer applications which interacts with the user and
help in maintaining the work by making them in synchronization and in a relative format sometimes.
Database systems are also help in keeping the records of utilities and securing them for ages. This
paper will tell you whole new achievements which can be done with the help of using the database
with its correct efficiencies.
Introduction
A database is an synchronized collection of the data. It is the collection of schemes, tables, queries,
reports, views and other objects. The data is typically organized to model aspects of reality in a way
that supports processes requiring information, such as modeling the availability of rooms in hotels in a
way that supports finding a hotel with vacancies.
A database management system (DBMS) is a computer software application that interacts with the
user, other applications, and the database itself to capture and analyze data. A general purpose DBMS
is designed to allow the definition, creation, querying, update, and administration of databases. Well
known DBMSs

Human Carbonic Anhydrase II ( Hca II )
Human Carbonic anhydrase II
Carbonic anhydrase (CA, EC 4.2.1.1) has around 16 isozymes, which are different isoforms, and these
have assorted tissue position s subcellular and distribution, which are exist in plants, animal, archaea,
and eubacteria. However, not all of them are involved decisive physiological processes but only some
of them. For example, acid base balance, respiration, biosynthetic reactions, and electrolytes secretion
are crucial physiological processes, which are affected by some of carbonic anhydrase isozymes. The
most significant feature of carbonic anhydrase is diffusion controlled metalloenzymes, which converts
reversibly carbon dioxide to bicarbonate and proton.
This proposal focuses on human carbonic anhydrase II (HCA II), this enzyme has a tertiary structure
and 29 kD polypeptide, which is the most common isozyme and the fastest. The active site of this
enzyme (HCA II) includes a metal ion such as zinic ion, which is a tetrahedral by coordinating a three
histidine residues (His119, His96, and His94) and hydroxide ion the forth ligand (H2O263). The most
important function of HCA II is the mechanism of conversion carbon dioxide to bicarbonate. This
mechanism occurs by three steps:
His64 E Zn OH + CO2 = His64 E Zn HCO3 + H2O = His64 E Zn H2O + HCO3 (a)
His64 E Zn H2O + H2O = H3O+ His64 E Zn OH (b)

Meaning And Meaning Of Diaspora
The word Diaspora derives from the Greek Diasperien i.e. dia (through) and sperien (to scatter).
According to Webster s dictionary, Diaspora refers to dispersion so we can say that the word
represents a centre called home from where the dispersion occurs. In addition to it the dictionary also
associates the meaning with the dispersion of the Jews after the Babylonian exile. Thus we get two
meanings of the word Diaspora as a spread of population and a forcible dispersal. Though it suggests a
movement from one place to another, but it s not a nomadic existence as it is somewhere a journey but
that also does not mean all journey can be understood as that of a Diaspora. As in Diaspora does not
mean causal travel, even though diasporic journeys are mainly about settling down and about having
roots elsewhere. Thus, the concept of Diaspora has different meanings to different people according to
their different circumstances. For instance, when the Jews were exiled from the Babylon, they were
uprooted from their own homes and they had to rebuild their community and culture all over again, for
them the diaspora had different meaning since it was forced. But today the meaning of Diaspora could
be limited to any community of a particular nation outside its own country, sharing some common

Sanity Like One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
Throughout the mid 1960 s to the late 1970 s, the concept and interest of mental illness has been
studied and discussed in countless different mediums ranging from films that tackled issues of sanity
like One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest to novels that dealt with much darker issues such as
schizophrenia in Flora Schreiber s Sybil. One of the most controversial and talked about productions
of the 20th century is Peter Shaffer s 1974 Tony winning play, Equus, which recounts Dr. Martin
Dysart s encounter and treatment of a seventeen year old boy, Alan Strang, who blinded six horses
with an icepick. The play focuses on therapy sessions between Dysart and Alan in which Dysart
struggles arduously to bring to the surface Alan s inner psyche and reasons for blinding the different
horses. The play has content that may suggest the story focuses on mental illness, sexuality, and
religion; however, this is only when the text is read and understood on an efferent level. The true
essence of Equus is located in the numerous biblical parallels found through the analyzation of the
plot lines that suggest. Through the analysis and biblical relation of plot points and scenes in Equus,
the true essence of the story is revealed; not only is Equus a story of mental illness and sexuality, but it
is also a parable of sorts, showing biblical passages and stories in a different and more relatable light.

through my white curtains almost taunting me. All I see is the clouds laying low on the mountain tops
giving my eye a storybook illusion. I know I have to get out of bed but the comfort of my blue cotton
sheets keep me trapped in a bundle of warmness making the struggle that much harder. eventually I
pull off the what seemed to be my morning happiness and go to the restroom.
After getting dressed in the proper attire for what seems to be a glorious day of what I heard to be an
emotional roller coaster, I head to my destination. On the way there I ask once again where we were
going.
My mother turns back to me with a troubled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
all the while I do this we are already on to the last stretch of the tour. We are in a dark room and you
could hear the breaths of the members of the group. It makes me feel uncomfortable but we soon make
our way into a room full of light. Their is a man their standing about 6 0ft also fair skinned with a sort
of spike hair cut giving out cards. As I go through the line he hands me card with a little boys face on
it. The picture on the card is black and white with the name Peter lined up above the little boys face. I
am confused at first but then I realize that this is the face of a boy who was in an internment camp.
After everyone gets this card we are taken through the stages of when they are bought into the camp
from when they are executed or escape. I first start in a room where if you are between the ages of 14
40 you are to go into the interment camps and work until death. The other room was for women with
babies and the elderly. They were to be executed immediately. I go through a door with myself and my
seventeen year old sister and wave goodbye to my mother and little sister. I think to myself I can t
believe that this is what they had to go through. After walking through the short hallway that led us to
our fait we all end up in the same room. It took people including my self a while to realize that we are
in a gas chamber. We all sit down on a bench a thin layer of sand lay

The Importance Of Tanning Bed
It s summertime in Brevard County, and that means even more blazing temperatures! Atlantis Vision
Center in Indian Harbour Beach, FL, has provided expert optician care for 15 years, and so we are
recommending tips about keeping your eyes safe this summer.
Exposure to sunlight may increase the risk of developing growths on the eyes and cataracts. Don t
forget that this risk applies to using tanning beds, and always protect your eyes from indoor UV light.
When sunlight reflects off water and sand, it can lead to a painful condition called photokeratitis
(which is also responsible for snow blindness and is like a sunburned eye).
Since UV radiation is so damaging, always wear UV blocking sunglasses, and start wearing proper
eye protection at an early age.
More eye smart safety from the American Academy of Ophthalmology is below: ... Show more
content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sunglasses need to block both UVA and UVB rays, and have a UV400 or 100% UV protection label.
A great style is the wraparound kind, so that the sunlight rays cannot enter from the side.
You still need sunglasses even if you wear UV blocking contact lenses.
Wear a hat! Broad brimmed hats are good options.
Clouds do NOT block UV light: The sun s rays pass through clouds and haze, so sun damage can
occur any time of year.
UV intense conditions: Sunlight is strongest mid day to early afternoon, when reflected off water, and
at higher altitudes.
Enjoy the summer sun safely and protect your vision! Visit
http://www.atlantisvisioncenter.com/eyeglasses/ for more information on the types of eyeglasses and
sunglasses that Atlantis Vision Center provides. Atlantis Vision Center has an onsite, excellent optical
finishing lab, as well. It is is important to invest in quality lenses!
If you have any questions regarding your eye health, please contact us at Atlantis Vision

  • 2. Elizabeth Wakefield, 16 And Of The Industrial Revolution... In the waning days of 1839, the small farmland of Frithville, Lincolnshire, witnessed the marriage of two teenagers. Elizabeth Wakefield, 16 and William Sharp 17, had set up their new life some distance from their parents on a farm where William could labour, as most Lincolnshire men did. The substantial farm on Stount Road, owned by a 30 year old bachelor, Charles Ireland, functioned with the hands of at least 3 other young men just as William plus 4 male and one female servants, none of whom were over 25 years. Three Simpson toddlers dwelled nearby to occasionally brighten the hard working family s daily lives. This is the setting for the birth of Sarah Ann whom Elizabeth delivered on February 5, 1842. The early 1840s in Lincolnshire, like the rest of England, was in the middle of the Industrial Revolution that included the struggle for democracy, development of the Poor Law and penitentiary system as well as significant changes in the status and powers of both women and children. Then there was the potato blight later in the decade that ravaged Europe, England, Scotland, but in particular Ireland. Lincolnshire was included in this disaster, but as its agriculture was more diversified and hence the population not so dependent on the potato, the hardship that befell the citizens was more muted than it would have otherwise would have been. All of this meant that there was great changes and dangers faced by the ordinary folk. With the birth of Sarah Ann, and later her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many cultural differences that Mattel needed to take into consideration before they attempted to bring Barbie to China. Problems Mattel Faced According to Wang (2012), Mattel did not fully understand what Chinese girls and women wanted from a doll. Femininity is different in China compared to what it can be defined as in the United States. Mattel opened a large store in Shanghai that not only had Barbie dolls, but also accessories and activities for consumers such as a runway and dressing rooms. The Barbie doll was not an icon in China like it has become in the United States and the store suffered because the relevance of Barbie and associated products was not a part of what the Chinese girls wanted. Six Cultural Issues and Mattel Performance Values and Attitudes The Chinese people want to have relationships with possible business partners before they do business with them. The Chinese believe in socializing and getting to know people as a way to see what type of person they will be dealing with. This is called guanxi (Firoz, Nadeem M. Topchaya, Olga, 2016). Chinese businesses will not focus on efficiency and view change as disruptive to their business. When Mattel brought the Barbie store into Shanghai, the Chinese people did not know Mattel and how Mattel would be conducting business in their city. This caused uncertainty and Chinese people not knowing if they wanted to do business with Mattel. Dress codes Chinese women tend to dress more conservatively. Chinese women often do not wear midriff shirts or plunging necklines, but tend to wear clothes that do not accentuate their body and curves(Aaker Schmitt, 2001). Barbie is known to have curves and tight fitting clothing that more fits the western culture. Marketing styles differences When marketing in China you need to focus on the consumers getting to know the product before placing it in stores or opening a new business. Nananna Riding The Pine: Tim Bowling s personal reflection of professional hockey in Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Goodbye In Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Goodbye, Tim Bowling, an author, poet, and a fishing boat deckhand (Stewart et al 237), articulates how professional hockey has evolved over his lifetime. He laments how a game he was enamoured with no longer captures his complete attention and is not as relevant in his life as it once was. However, Bowling admits he still has a sheepish curiosity for the latest news and highlights (238), is still mildly attracted (239) to the game for its grace, beauty, and skill (239), and yearns for a Stanley Cup Final with two Canadian teams; most importantly a final with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the ... Like many Canadians, Bowling can recite simple statistics about the game; six of seven Sutter brothers played in the NHL (239) or Bobbi Clarke s battle with diabetes are a couple of examples. It is easy to determine, from his narrative and expressions, Bowling is a fan of hockey and has been for his entire life. Like many other fans, he realizes the game has changed and in his opinion, not for the better. Along with his narrative, Bowling uses contrast to support his opinion in such a way that balances the old traditions with the new nuances of the game. For example, Bowling draws on some parallels of one of the newest superstars in the league, Sidney Crosby, to unequivocally the greatest player of the game Wayne Gretzky: Sidney Crosby is expected to challenge the scoring statistics of Gretzky one day (239). Bowling continues to use contrast comparing the years it takes to master skating with the simple fundamentals of running, jumping, and catching (239); basic skills used in baseball, basketball and football. His view is that hockey players are the most skilled athletes in the world and other athletes pale in comparison. • 5. How Organic Farming Affects The Growth Of The Green Movement Up until the 1920 s, most agriculture and farming was done organically. Farmers used products that were naturally earth made to control the weeds, pest, and help the soil maintain its nutritional value. There wasn t any chemicals or insecticide until the Second World War, when the researchers discover that nerve gas was able to kill insects. The first insecticide was created in 1939 by Paul Miller. Since then organic farming has dramatically decreased and more insecticides has become extremely popular. In the 1960 s and 1970 s the Be Natural approach started, people were becoming more concerned with their health and environment. This started up the growth of the green movement. The green movement helped conserve the environment and push farmers to go back to organic farming. People have become concerned with their health due to all the chemicals now put into farming. Organic Farming plays a huge role in health, government, and the environment. The pros and cons of organic farming vary in health concerns. For a product to be completely organic there must be no chemicals, insecticides, hormones, or any product that is not earth made being used in the farming process. Nutrient value is usually a lot higher in organic products because there is no chemical use. The micronutrients from the rich soil, without chemical use decrease health risks. The chemicals used to help grow the plants and animals often take away some the nutritional value. The plant or animals develops ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Triangle Fire is remembered as one of the most tragic workplace incidents in the history of Industrial America. This tragic fire killed 146 female factory workers, some as young as age 15. During this time there was many problems with sweatshops and unsafe working conditions, this fire proved those problems to be true. The Triangle Shirtwaist Company was owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. The company was started by Blanck and Harris in 1900. The building also had a fire escape, but it was very narrow and couldn t get that many people down it fast enough. With what happened on the Triangle Fire of 1911, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris should be blamed for the tragic aftermath and so many women dead with the fire. Their punishment for 146 females dying was very inadequate. Seeming how they did not take the proper safety precautions and their factory was not up to city codes. Blanck and Harris did not get charged of manslaughter or anything for the 146 females dying in this fire, though they definitely should have. There had been strikes in years before about better working conditions and more safe precautions in the factory. One reporter that was an eyewitness to the fire said, I remembered their great strike of last year, in which these girls demanded more sanitary workrooms, and more safety precautions in the shops. Imagine the world where family members or close friends chose your spouse based on their expectations. This is a simple past tense verb. In [2] also, the action took place in the past, but it is implied that it took place quite recently. Furthermore, it is implied that is still relevant at the time of speaking Venkat has fallen in love, and that s why he s behaving the way he is. Leonce acts as a benchmark throughout the novel reminding Edna that she is bound to her family and makes her feel trapped. He is her reality check. Edna acknowledges that she is a poor mother and wife since she does not fit in with the traditions of the Creole society. The pressure difference between the blade pressure surface and the blade suction surface induces tip leakage flow, which increases heat transfer in the blade tip region. In this paper, the three dimensional flow and heat transfer are examined for an internally cooled blade cascade with tip injection using numerical technique. The three dimensional turbulent flow was obtained by solving Reynolds averaged Navier Stokes equations and the energy equation. The Shear Stress Transport (SST) k  model was employed to represent turbulent flow. The cooling air is injected from eleven holes with 3 mm diameter arranged along the blade chamber line. Essay On American Flag Desecration The Constitution of the United States of America is something that all Americans value greatly; it protects our basic human rights by forbidding the government of violating them. Recently, there has been much discussion about a possible violation of said rights, specifically creating a law to ban the desecration of the American flag. President elect Donald Trump recently stated his opinion on social media about the issue, however he proposed inconceivable punishments for the action. This issue of desecrating the American flag is deeply rooted in American history, including multiple Supreme Court decisions. The Supreme Court has twice ruled that the desecration of the American flag was a form of free speech and is protected by the first amendment. The first Amendment states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Before, it was a gender neutral term but it is now associated with women. There are different types of witches and they each had different powers. The word witch came from the word Wicca which is an old English word and slowly, it was changed to wicked by the Catholic Church. For as long as it was around, witches and witchcraft were looked at negatively and those who practiced witchcraft were poorly treated. Despite the time difference and geographical areas, there were similarities in how women, witches, and those who were accused were treated. Treatment towards witches was influenced by oral stories, experiences, and pop culture. The word Wicca means wisdom. The witches were turned to when one needed help. Witches of different types used spells, magic, and potions. Many had feared witches, especially the Catholic church. Slowly the meaning was changed to wicked. Seduction in To His Mistress Going to Bed, Good Morrow, Corinna s Going A Maying, and To His Coy Mistress Throughout time, one of the greatest challenges mankind has faced is the sexual conquest of womankind. In many cultures today, this challenge has evolved into an intricate courting process that often involves buying the woman flowers, gifts, and meals to persuade her to have sex. Thus, Herrick, Donne, and Marvell s consistent poetic reliance upon logical rhetoric, first person plural narration, and imperative, interrogative, and conditional statements signifies the veritable influence of these devices to convince women to have sex in late sixteenth and early seventeenth century England. While Herrick s famous Corinna s Going A Maying depends primarily on imperative statements, it also features logical rhetoric and first person plural narration. Likewise, the overpowering ingredient in Donne s Eligy XIX: To His Mistress Going to Bed is also the imperative statement, although he also includes a dash of logic and interrogation. Similarly, Donne arranges interrogative statements, logical reasoning, and first person plural narration into The Good Morrow. Marvell s To His Coy Mistress is particularly unique in its ample use of conditional statements in combination with other devices. To reiterate, the recurrence of literary elements in seduction poetry around the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries in England clearly demonstrates their persuasive impact upon women of the time. Forests cover 31% of the land area on the planet. They produce vital oxygen and provide homes for people and wildlife. Many of the world s most threatened and endangered animals live in forests, and 1.6 billion people rely on benefits forests offer, including food, fresh water, clothing, traditional medicine and shelter. Data collection could be improved by using a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) or a diet history interview that asks for usual intakes of iodine containing foods. FFQ are more often used and preferred as they are more cost effective. Human Carbonic Anhydrase II ( Hca II ) Human Carbonic anhydrase II Carbonic anhydrase (CA, EC 4.2.1.1) has around 16 isozymes, which are different isoforms, and these have assorted tissue position s subcellular and distribution, which are exist in plants, animal, archaea, and eubacteria. However, not all of them are involved decisive physiological processes but only some of them. For example, acid base balance, respiration, biosynthetic reactions, and electrolytes secretion are crucial physiological processes, which are affected by some of carbonic anhydrase isozymes. The most significant feature of carbonic anhydrase is diffusion controlled metalloenzymes, which converts reversibly carbon dioxide to bicarbonate and proton. This proposal focuses on human carbonic anhydrase II (HCA II), this enzyme has a tertiary structure and 29 kD polypeptide, which is the most common isozyme and the fastest. The active site of this enzyme (HCA II) includes a metal ion such as zinic ion, which is a tetrahedral by coordinating a three histidine residues (His119, His96, and His94) and hydroxide ion the forth ligand (H2O263). The most important function of HCA II is the mechanism of conversion carbon dioxide to bicarbonate. This mechanism occurs by three steps: His64 E Zn OH + CO2 = His64 E Zn HCO3 + H2O = His64 E Zn H2O + HCO3 (a) His64 E Zn H2O + H2O = H3O+ His64 E Zn OH (b) H3O+ His64 E Zn OH = His64 E Zn OH + H3O+ ...
