Comparing Different Ways of Supplying Water to Kenya
ASSIGNMENT TITLE: Write a report that compares two or three different ways to supply water in
this region. At the end of the report, make a recommendation of the best method of water provision.
1. Introduction Water is one of the vital substances on earth and according to Kreger (2004)
Actually, only 1% of the world s water is usable to us. About 97% is salty seawater, and 2% is
frozen in glaciers and polar ice caps. Thus that 1% of the world s water supply is a precious
commodity necessary for our survival. All humans on earth need water to survive. A human can
go for weeks without food but only 5 7 days without water (Szflarski et al, 2013). When the water
in your body is reduced by 1% you become thirsty. Apart from drinking it... Show more content on

because of local materials and craftsmanship.

4.2 Desalination Desalination is the process in which excess salt water and other minerals are
removed from water to make it consumable (Rosadoi, Moraisii, 2010). This source of water is
very expensive to operate in rural areas of Kenya because the materials and running cost is on
the high side. It has a lot of environmental impact, positively it is an additional source of water
supply and it helps to keep the groundwater aquifers from going dry however the side effect of
desalination is that it leads to the emission of greenhouse gases, large production of concentrated
brine, discharge of salt by product which is harmful to people residing around. Water born
diseases will be reduced drastically and also creates job opportunities due to large industrial plants
for processing. Source of steady electricity power to make this plant work will be a major concern
and a large number of inhabitants make lack the technological knowledge to operate the
desalination plants.

The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance writers were able to speak out for African Americans and present to the
world their own culture into American life. This movement allowed African Americans to share
their talents and abilities with the rest of the society and they did not have to feel the least bit
ashamed about it. Through having the chance to share their work, these writers spread across
America the new negro ; an individual who has the power to express, share, and present to the
world their own uniqueness of culture (Locke, 985). Although the Harlem Renaissancemade a huge
impact on repairing the psychology of the negro , Langston Hughescontributed a great deal to this
movement of change as well. In his essay, The Negro Artist and The Racial Mountain,... Show more

In his essay, Blueprint for Negro Writing, Richard Wright rejects the Renaissance at which he
brings forward several reasons as to why. To begin, he discusses the role of the negro writing and
how the negro writer does not write to the black audience, but to the whites and through doing so,
the negro writer treats themselves worse than others. In the text, he writes: Rarely was the best of
this writing addressed to the Negro himself, his needs, his sufferings, his aspirations. Through
misdirection, Negro writers have been far better to others than they have been to themselves
(Wright, 1403). In his work, he questions the power of the Negro writers and the path that they are
taking. Initially, the negro writers are not focusing on their own lives, their experiences and
condition (Wright, 1403). Another issue that Wright brings forward in his essay is that Negro
writing has been addressed in the main to a small white audience rather than to a Negro one, it
should be stated that no attempt is being made here to propagate a specious and blatant nationalism
(Wright, 1405). Essentially, what Wright is addressing is that writers are more focused on the white
audience rather than the black audience and he states that a gap continues to widen between them
and their people (Wright, 1404). Another point that Wright makes is that Negros should accept the
nationalist implications of their lives, not in order to encourage them, but in order to change and
transcend them (Wright, 1406). In response to this, Wright says that Negro writers should be
focusing on the hardships of their lives, and the fact that their life is not easy (Wright, 1406). The
only way to bring change is to accept the fact that this is the reality. In his work, he continues to

The Importance Of T Cells
T cells play a central role in the activation of cellular immunity and are of key importance to the
maintenance of immunological memory. In cellular immunity, the effector phase is triggered
once the T cell receptors (TCRs) expressed on the surface of T lymphocytes engages specific
peptide antigens (Ags) presented by MHC molecules, and regarded as one of the key discoveries
in our understanding of the adaptive immune response. Presumably, due to the selective pressure
exerted by the pathogens, T cells have evolved to recognize a range of chemically distinct antigens
such as lipids and vitamin B metabolites and challenged the prevailing view that T cells are solely
reactive to peptide antigens presented by MHC molecules. Perhaps one of the... Show more content

The above holds true particularly when mouse model is used to evaluate the functional outcome of
NKT cells, wherein the role of CD1d2 in antigen presentation and NKT TCR recognition remain
obscure. This is has been overcome with the crystal structure of the CD1d2, which has now
provided a valuable insight into the antigen presentation mechanism mediated by CD1d2. The
crystal structure has identified a smaller A antigen binding pocket in CD1d2, which in turn
indicated the possible requirement of shorter acyl chain length lipid for its antigen presentation.
Given that most of the antigens that were studied in the context of NKT cell mediated immunity
required longer A pocket compared to the relative size in CD1d2, the study indicates that CD1d2
might present a different set of lipid antigens for NKT TCR recognition. Further, owing to their
monomorphic nature, the finding can be used as a potential lead to evaluate how the difference in
antigen presentation can impact the reactivity of NKT cells and subsequently the outcome of the
NKT cell mediated immune response. In addition, the crystal structure could be used as a platform
for the development of novel immunotherapeutics with the special focus on CD1d2 restricted NKT
cells. In future, the study will be aimed to address the structural basis of NKT TCR CD1d2 Ag
recognition, which will considerably help us in understanding the basis of CD1d2 in lipid mediated

Direct Observation Paper
For my direct observation paper, I decided to write about the Social Learning Theory, proposed
by Albert Bandura. This theory asserts that learning is a cognitive process that takes place in a
social context and can occur purely through observation or direct instruction, even in the absence
of motor reproduction or direct reinforcement. I observed two young, caucasian boys at a
shopping mall. The purpose of this paper is to use the course material from my PSY 335 course
and applicate it to the real world through this observation.
During the class presentation by Dr. Felver on Septmeber 7th, the Social Learning Theory was
discussed. Bandura s social learning theory, states that people learn from one another via
observation, imitation and modeling. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boy first saw the other boy whom we can assume was his brother or friend doing this behavior
and then initiated the same behavior. Besides this, the young boy also showed characteristics of
this theory in the beginning when he pointed at the carousel and said horsee, shortly after it was
said after the other boy. Bandura s theory stressed that one can acquire a wide range of behaviors
and thoughts through observing others behaviors. In this case, one boy observed the other boy
point at the carousel, say horsee, and repeated the same behavior. Similarly, while riding the
carousel, the boy observed the other boy making clicking noises with his tongue and saying neigh,
neigh, and repeated the same behavior. This can be classified as cognitive, observational learning.
Bandura s most recent model of learning and development, highlights three elements; behavior, the
person/cognition, and the environment. An individual s confidence, the fact that he can control his
success is an example of the person factor. The strategies he uses are examples of cognitive factors.
Behavior, cognitive and environmental factors are interactive. Behavior can influence cognitive and
environmental factors and vice versa. In this observation, there is a link between person and

Why Law Enforcement Is Important Essay
This information is important because without cooperating law enforcement wouldn t be able to
exist because cooperation is what builds up the team and the team helps to fight crimes that are
committed. Police officers face challenges on a daily basis, but sometimes they have to face deadly
challenges. Policeofficers are required to get 120 hours of training and the most specific required
one is firearms shoot don t shoot scenarios use of force and legal training this requirement helps
them prepare for any deadly movement, they might have to have while in duty but many officers
finish without having to use deadly force ( Myths/Facts ). Dealing with pain is a part of their job
with any worker working in law enforcement. It s hard for them, but they love there job and stay

just committed a crime this crime is called the construction of justice this crime can be preceded

because many people lie a lot in life today. people know for a fact lying is wrong, but people don
t take it seriously because they do it on a daily basis but when it has to do with a officer society
knows not to lie because people know they can get into trouble. Another example is a person is

What Are The Benefits Of Lowering The Drinking Age
The legal drinking age has many high school and college students shaking their heads. Despite
the illegality of underage drinking, many youth still participate in the consumption of alcohol
before their 21st birthday. Underage drinking is not intrinsically wrong, rather it is criminalized
and misperceived because of current laws. Because the current law regarding underage alcohol
consumption is not working, maintaining that law is illogical and stupid. A simple solution to
this problem exists; the drinking age should be lowered to 18. Many benefits will occur if the
drinking age is lowered to the age a person is legally recognized as an adult, including an economic
boost, a decrease in dangerous drinking, and a decrease in illegal activity.... Show more content on

When people irresponsibly over consume alcohol, their judgement becomes impaired and they
are subject to be at a higher risk of injury. For example, binge drinking is the 5th biggest reasons
teens have to visit the hospital (3 4 Blau). With a lower drinking age, young adults would not
have to keep their alcohol consumption clandestine. This means that there would be more
available supervision and access to medical help should a circumstance warrant the need for it.
A lower drinking age would also make the topic of drinking less taboo which would allow people
to become more informed about the dangers of alcohol and help them learn to drink responsibly.
Another very important reason to decriminalize drinking under the age of 21 is to ensure that
anyone in need of medical help gets it, regardless of how inebriated they or their friends are.
Often, teens die from drinking because the people they are with do not call for help if an
unfortunate situation occurs. Generally, these people attempt to wait out a situation, much to the
misfortune of whoever is in need of help, because they fear the possible legal repercussions of
having drank. To prevent any person suffering any harm, it is necessary that the drinking age be

An Unmanned Aircraft System ( Uas )
On Saturdays in the fall, more than 50,000 people pack themselves into Bill Snyder Family
Stadium to watch the Kansas State University Wildcats play football. More fans occupy the
parking lot surrounding the stadium, and even more can be found in satellite parking lots farther
from the stadium (K State Athletics). Game day at K State is busy for local law enforcement
members. Police must remain on high alert for any kind of suspicious activity in order to keep the
public safe. With so many people in such a large area, it can become difficult to for officers

From 20,000 feet, ARGUS can magnify something as tiny as six inches on the ground. It has the
potential to recognize faces and record license plates. Memory space is no issue, as ARGUS has the
ability to record up to 5,000 hours of footage (Koerner 2015). This type of drone surveillance
would capture a drug dealer making a sale to some tailgaters, locate the parking stall where a
man needs medical attention after indulging in too many jalapeno poppers or track a pickpocket
through a crowd. As far as crowd surveillance goes, the use of drones appears to be a no brainer.
But this type of surveillance can also be a gateway into privacy concerns.
According to Black (2013), today s rapidly changing drone technology carries the potential to
violate the privacy rights of an individual. Numerous drones also carry the potential to threaten
privacy in society as a whole. (Black 2013).
Moving beyond crowd surveillance, drones are raising a lot of questions in reference to the Fourth
Amendment that protects citizens and their houses, papers and effects from unreasonable searches
and seizures (U.S. Const. amend IV). As drones have the potential to become important tools in
police investigations, there are many situations presented that fall outside of the Fourth Amendment
s regulation but fit in well enough to raise it as an issue (Koerner 2015).
The concern centers on everything even a simple drone is capable of. The Parrot AR 2.0 come

The Spanish war gave the United States an empire. At the end of the Spanish war the United States
took Spanish colonies such as Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and many other islands. The creation of
the American Empire leads to the end of the Spanish Empire. The United States wanted to build up
the countries so that markets would open up and purchase American goods and to improve the
American economy.
Do you think the United States is currently an imperialist country? Why or why not? No I do not
think the United States is an imperialist Country. We do not try or even want to take over any
other countries. We want to buy their products instead, and sell our products to them. Also when
the United States attacks another country it is out of defense, we only support wars that are in self
defense. During WWI we took no possessions as our own, and prevented others from doing this.
During WWII we helped to rebuild Japan and Germany instead of taking control, and returned full
power to the Filipino Government. In the Korea and Vietnam War we came to the aide of both
countries. During the Afghanistan war we fought and are still assisting then Government until we

Non Verbal And Interpersonal Communication
Non Verbal and Interpersonal Communication
Introduction
Humans are very intelligent beings. We say one thing and mean another, most of the times at least.
While having a conversation, it is important that we asses, analyze and then respond to have a
meaningful conversation. This is true more so in the case where we are interacting with a lot of
cross cultural people.
Non verbal communication is nothing but body language in generic and facial expressions,
postures, gestures and interpersonal space in specific, to name a few.
Facial Expressions
Facial expressions are a part of non verbal communication. People can recognize other persons
emotions by reading facial expressions. In recent work, researchers define 21 distinct emotion ...

Eye contact is looking into people s eyes with mouth curve up and brows relaxed, while staring at
people is looking at people with brows wrinkled and lips tight. In fact, staring at people reveals
the signal of hatred that you never want to bring coworkers and customers. In addition, smile
with apples of the cheeks states truly delight. However, smiling while frowning is more or less
fake and it exhibits the feeling of being embarrassed. While talking with customer or answering
their questions, a person picks up ears and turns head to one side a little bit implies he or she is
patiently listening and serious about the conversation. Plus, as a professional staff, he or she doesn
t want to be indifferent to customers and thus snorting and crinkling nose up with mouth curve
down are definitely forbidden in business talks.
Finally, conversations between friends and families are more casual. In this case, people are
relaxed. They may not keep eye contact all the time but they prefer to use their multi facial
expressions to express plentiful emotions. For instance, smile, laugh and grin are three popular
expressions in casual conversation, they look like the same but they do vary. The corners of
mouth curve up present a smile. The mouth is opened a bit more and the voice is then heard,
which shows a laugh. Smiling broadly and showing teeth brings a grin. Facial expressions are a
crucial part of interpersonal communication, for it conveys various

The Levels Of Social Work
Micro level social work involves working with individuals, whereas, macro level social work
involves improving conditions on a larger scale, for groups of people such as a community. The
levels of social work practice are not only related, but they influence each other and often display
characteristics of a cause and effect relationship. This essay will explain how the levels of social
workpractice influence each other, followed by examples of this influence, particularly focusing
on attachment theory. In conclusion, this essay will demonstrate how the relationship between
the social work levels of practice can affect a social worker s ability to stay in compliance with
the social work code of ethics. Macro level social work is comprised of the individuals that are
treated on the micro level. The evidence based practices are the most widely used techniques on
the micro level and they became evidence based because those practices had the highest success
rates from the greatest number of people on a macro level. During the class lecture, Bret argued
that governmental and work policies on the macro level can have an effect on individuals or
individual families. Alternatively, micro theories can lead to macro policies.
An example mentioned in class lecture was the fact that the United States is largely driven by
attachment theory. This was a Freudian based theory developed to help understand orphans post
World War II. This micro level theory ignored all other

Two major civilizations took place during these times. The Greek and Roman empire had a
tremendous impact on the ideas and orders of what society is like today. Both civilizations created

For the Greek their political and religious order was war oriented. The Polis were ruled by elders

Greed and lust for something you don t need can lead to tragic consequences Amoruso . The
story, The Monkey s Paws is about a magical, enchanted monkey s paw, that was given to Mr.
and Mrs. White by Sergeant Major Morris. The Sergeant Major has explained to them that the
paw had a spell cast. The Sergeant Major warns him about the consequences and then throws it

pounds to pay off the house. The next day, the couple s son Herbert is killed in an accident at
work, and the company pays the couple 200 pounds in compensation (Jacobs, 1 5), This connects
to the theme of Greed and lust for something you don t need can lead to tragic consequences
Amoruso because the couple did not know what they were getting into but were willing to make a

This is based upon findings that the majority receive short term sentences meaning that they are
not eligible for post release supervision. Also there appears to be limited resources specifically

are affected by one, or a combination of the following factors; single parenthood, homelessness,
unemployment and addiction, thus indicating that re integration into the community will be
more of a challenge. It is acknowledged that efforts are being made to improve the services

appreciated that women are not a homogenous group of individuals and that some may not face

Monetary Policy And Its Effects On The Economy
Introduction
Monetary policy has created financial stability and a lesser impact on the economy. In the aftermath
of the financial crisis, many financial institutions had little or no options just bear the burden of
their immature practices. These financial institutions brought major fatalities into the markets
increasing the scope and vulnerability of the financial sectors. According to the Federal Reserve,
monetary policy is an action of the central bank to achieve macroeconomic policy objectives such as
price stability, full employment, and stable economic growth.
Monetary policy has had a positive impact precisely the U.S economy. The unemployment rate has
reduced and the economy has shown signs of recovering. Moreover, many central bank governors
have different views and practices when it comes to monetary easing, at such, to prevent further
crisis spill out into the economy. In the short, the Federal Reserve chairs manage through decisions

Formal analysis paper The outdoor mural on the east facing side of the WMCAT building is a
breathtaking mosaic called The Metaphorest Project, created by Tracy VanDuinen. This larger
than life size vista was an Artprize entry in 2011, and took 2nd place in the competition. This set
the standard for not only large scale public art within Grand Rapids MI, but also the most
exhilarating. The scene is an impressive mixture of 2 D and 3 D design, the foreground being
mostly of relief sculpture and multi media mosaic; the background painted. The Metaphorest

The pairing of the colors gave me an underlying suggestion between the two. The entryway aids in
the view of this large universe, and the many opportunities it has to offer, opportunities many can
visualize, believe, and could be achieved. The door is of realistic proportion, however, it looks
quite miniscule within the composition, but still powerful. The focal point of The Metaphorest
Project is a larger than life size male face, built up through a bed of sunflowers, to the right of the
green tree. At first glance, the face is stunning and majestic due to the mosaic, 3 D construction.
The materials used where small pieces of reflective ceramic or glass. Every small piece was aligned
to emphasize the realistic curves of the facial features, excluding the painted eyeball itself. The
eyes where delicately painted a dark brown, from afar the eye color looked almost black because of
it being so dark against the pupil. The face was more of a masculine shape, broad facial structure,
strong jaw line, and had a serious to nearly emotionless expression. The forehead of the face is not
complete or whole, but is being shown as part of a project. To either side there are boys with
ladders leaned against the face, and atop of the face is a girl looking as if she is

Hope Is A Thing With Feathers Metaphor
Explication of hope is a thing with feathers
In hope is a thing with feathers Emily Dickinson uses a metaphor that compares hope to a bird and
imagery to describe hope as a bird. She tells the readers that hope is small and fragile, but it can
survive the worst of situations without asking for anything in return.
She starts the first stanza by saying the following, hope is a thing with feathers . By this she
creates a metaphorical image of a bird to describe the image of hope without explicitly saying
so. The word feathers gives the reader the image of a bird, but it can also symbolize the feathers
as something that can help you fly or escape to something better. The next lines continue this
imagery by saying, (hope) that perches in the soul . These two lines create the image that hope
is not just a word, but something that lives in your soul. The word perches is a birdlike quality
and supports the image of hope as a bird. Another way to look at the word perch is that it could
be a metaphor for a home. A perch is where a bird rests and the soul could be seen as where hope
rests. The next two lines say, And... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

have any effect on it. The second of the three lines also states that hope is a bird explicitly. The
final line also finishes the three lines by concluding that hope keeps people warm, it gives people
something they can look forward to. These lines can be seen to describe something or someone that

Analysis Of Sweetness By Toni Morrison
In an effort to explain the impact of colorism in black communities, Rita B. Dandridge once
stated, In African American culture, class bias is the handmaiden of intraracial prejudice that
privileges the near white or light complexioned person over the darker hued. These privileges
include more desirable jobs, houses in more prestigious neighborhoods, and better educational
opportunities based on one having a lighter skin complexion. Since whites have more privileges
in society simply based on the color of their skin, it is common for blacks to want to be white or
be able to at least pass as white. In the short story, Sweetness by the author Toni Morrison, the

Even though her mother was a light skin black woman, she did not want to live her life as a lie,
by living as a white woman. Her mother embraced her blackness, which forced her to find work
as a maid; her employers did not treat her with the same dignity as a white woman would
receive. After seeing what her mother went through for accepting her blackness and living her
life as a black woman, she knew that was not the life she wanted to live. Even though Sweetness
knew she was a black woman, she did not want to face the harsh reality of being one. But how
else can we hold on to a little dignity? How else can we avoid being spit on in a drugstore,
elbowed at the bus stop, having to walk in the gutter to let whites have the whole sidewalk,
being charged a nickel at the grocer s for a paper bag that s free to white shoppers? Let alone all
the name calling. I heard about all of that and much, much more. (Morrison) After hearing about
all of the stories that other blacks went through, Sweetness knew her only way out was to use her
light skin to her advantage. It was not a difficult decision for her to make because she knew all
of the advantages that came with it. By living life as a white woman, Sweetness was able to have
a job at a hospital and live a life that was much easier than her mother s. But after having a dark

Four Products case study Essay
Four Products Case
Question 1. Which of the four products are you most optimistic about in terms of likely success?
Why?
Answer: I really like two ideas presented in the case: Stave Jigsaw Puzzle and Polytrack. Both are
dealing with big money and luxury; while one is aimed to please, impress and entertain real big
wallets owners, the other seems to be a real innovative breakthrough in equestrian sport.
Stave Puzzle attracts me with a perfect match of the target market rich fine people who relish the
opportunity to spend great quantities of money and time on aggravation and the product technology
and features tiny hand made mahogany pieces, full of creatively shaped, gorgeous and expensive

good start, Polytrack became able to expand and to perform at the American market, and it was

Question 2: Which are you most pessimistic about? Why?
Answer: Speaking about the products I m most pessimistic about I d mention PB Slices first; I
hardly believe in a commercial success of a collapsible biking wheel, too. But in both cases I see
the ways for improvement. I will explain my point in succession and start from PB Slices.
Basically, there are many good examples of market success of the ideas built up on people s total
laziness assumption: remote control, fast food, automatic dishwasher and washing machine, baby
diapers, automatic gear transmission... They all came up at the right time and were able to
improve people s lives by a) saving time and b) doing things better than their time consuming
predecessors. I do not think that PB Slices can be described in the same terms.
First, it is time saving, convenient and does not require knife usage. But is it such a big deal to
spend 20 more seconds and to make a normal sandwich, to put a knife into a sink and to wash it
later with all the dishes? I doubt that. Second, the slices look very thin and many peanut butter
lovers claim that they prefer a good thick sandwich. And third,

Paul Revere s Ride and Rewriting the Legend of Paul Revere
The interesting poem of Paul Revere and the real life story of Paul Revere both play a big part

minds of people to come and say what actually happened and what didn t. It s true that Paul

Revere was the only lone rider in his poem warning people about the British coming. On the
other hand Justin Ewers used evidence in the real story that not only was Paul Revere a lone
rider but there was 2 other riders that helped spread the message. In Paul Revere s Ride, it has
said that Paul was traveling on a horse through each town like Lexington and Concord to alert the
people. But the real story was that Paul was writing the horse but his horse was confiscated so he
ran all the way to another town. Then the poem said that Paul achieved what he did and the British
scattered away from the fight. What actually happened was Paul being captured by the British and
the British stood their ground to fight. The can prove different events and evidence about both of

The Sound Of St. Mary-Le-Bow Bells
The Sound of St. Mary le Bow Bells: The Decline of the Cockney Accent
The Cockney accent is a British dialect possessing a longstanding and rich history. Famous for its
use of rhyming slang and unique linguistics, the Cockney accent, and the history associated with it,
is a source of pride to many living in London s East End. The traditional definition of a cockney is
one who was born within the sound of St. Mary le Bow Church bells, though, an accent typical of
working class Londoner suffices as well (Mott 71). Despite the accent s century long history being
tied to the working class of London s East End, there is now a large shift in the region s dialect. A
large influx of immigration has occurred in the East End, and the result is the slow emergence of a
new accent. Sociolinguistics Dr. Sue Fox refers to it as Multicultural London English, and describes
the accent as one of Jamaican, Indian subcontinent and West African English (Hayes). With the
emergence of the new accent, the notorious rhyming slang is disappearing, and certain traditional
Cockney inflections are becoming less frequent. While the accent is not completely lost due to
native speakers carrying it with them as they migrate from the East End, the research as it currently
stands, suggests the accent s future is one of continued decline.
The Cockney accent is characterized by several different features, one of its most notable being,
rhyming slang. Cockney rhyming slang functions by substituting a word for

Political Involvement os Power of the Public
Political Involvement
The primary reason for political involvement in government intervention is the power of public
opinion. When the people collectively begin to aggressively voice their concerns for a certain
action to take place, it forces the hand of the government to act in response to that distress (Kraft
and Furlong, 2013). There are currently nineteen states that offer a higher minimum wage than the
federal mandate. Thirteen states raised their minimum wage levels on January 1, 2014, increasing
the purchasing power of the lowest paid workers in each respective state, some of the increases
were under fifteen cents (United States Department of Labor).

The winners in this case would be the workforce earning another $.10 $.25 per hour and this
calculates to an additional $10.00 per week or $520.00 per year with a quarter per hour.
However, this can add up very fast when this is required for hundreds of employees for big
businesses (Miller, 2013). It has to be decided what regulation will do the most common good in
the long run, and this never been a popular assessment to be required to undertake. The benefits
such as educational assistance, life insurance, or travel accident insurance are generally a matter
of agreement between an employer and an employee. In return for the increased wages some
employers have opted to drop insurance coverage plans or lay off workers to help and compensate
for some of their losses (United States Department of Labor).

Elite Theory
There are several different theories and models used in general politics and the creation of public
policies. These models and theories help to simplify the understanding of how some things work
(Kraft and Furlong, 2013). According to the Elite Theory perception the general public has little to
no impact on the regulation of public policies. All of the policy changing authority is within the
elite population. The elite theory stresses the fact that partiality is given to the governing body of

The Bosnian-Herzegovina Genocide And Ethnic Cleanse
Introduction
The Bosnian Herzegovina genocide or ethnic cleansing went on from April 1992 to December 1995
around the end of the Second World War. When Bosnia became its own independent nation on April
5th 1922 it wanted to cleanse its country of any non Serbian residents. The killing of Bosnian
Muslims during this time was stated by international tribunals to be an ethnic cleansing however the
events that took place in July 1995 in Srebrenica was so horrific it was deemed a genocide. The
United Nations should have intervened a lot sooner than they did and should have sent more than
just peace keepers to protect the human beings that were being slaughtered.
Victims
The victims targeted during the Bosnian Herzegovina genocide were mostly Bosnian Muslims
and Croatians. The majority of the people that were being murdered and executed were male
(boys and men), while the women were being raped and tortured. The downfall of the Ottoman
Empire gave a rise to the thoughts of nationalism which in turn caused the ethno religious (an
ethnic group whose members are also unified by a common religious background) in Bosnia to
have clashing issues like historical problems between groups and political issues. The three
different groups which were living in Bosnia were obviously Bosnians but also Serbians and
Croatians.

For that matter, minority students may enter a G T program without the skills necessary for
success; for example independence, speaking skills, organization, and goal setting skills (Lovett,
2011, p.57). Without these skills we are simply adding to the stress of being in a G T program for
minority students so it s important than as a teacher we include lessons which teach our students
who are gifted and talented the skills needed to be able to manage themselves. This goes beyond
just what is expected of students who are gifted and talented in the classroom but these skills can
be utilized outside of school in their home and work

Science Has Been An Interest Of Mine
Science is something that happens every day. Science can be many different things as well.
Throughout my life, science has been an interest of mine. Asking questions, finding out how
something works, or how something is made. When I was in grade school, I don t remember
having any science classes. I do remember doing different experiments at home with my parents
though. The one thing that I loved to do was mix baking soda with vinegar and watching its
reaction. This was a lot of fun for me because it was very interesting to try and understand why
both items that are used with food and cooking, when mixed together would do something so
cool. When I got older and into middle school/high school, was when all of the cool science
classes started. We learned about the different elements on the periodic table and we got to take
a tour of the science lab and all of the fundamentals within it. The teacher showed us all of the
different measuring tools and containers, the ways to be safe in the lab like eye goggles and all
of the emergency wash stations. We also got to see a glass cabinet of a bunch of preserved
animals. He explained that the animals were in formaldehyde and also told us some of the stories
behind the animals. One was a really small horse and that was donated to the school from one of
the locals because their horse had ended up having a miscarriage. There were frogs and snakes and
even bunnies and kittens. Another interesting one was a baby deer that was also

Why I Was Surprised When Octavie Was Still Alive
I was very surprised with the end to The Locket. In no way did I think that Edmond was still
alive. According to the short story Edmond was at war, but he never got seriously injured. So,
when I read that he had past, and the locket was returned to Octavie I was shocked. Made
precious as material things sometimes are by being forever identified with a significant moment
of one s existence. This quote is very sad because Octavie is remembering what she had with
Edmond and the fact that she will have to go through life with just memories of their time
together, instead of making more memories is upsetting to her. It wasn t until she was with Judge
Pillier when it was a little strange that he wasn t as upset to lose his son, as

Nuclear Weapons And Nuclear Proliferation
Committee 9
Nuclear Proliferation
Vanuatu
(A)Brief Background of the Topic
1.)What is the historical background of this topic?
Nuclear Proliferation is defined as the rapid spread or increase of nuclear weapons. Nuclear
Proliferation has been a conflict worldwide for years. It all started during the Cold War, when
the Soviet Union and the United States competed to obtain more nuclear weapons. As the Cold
War continued, France, Britain, and China all began to develop their own nuclear technology.
On July 1, 1968, the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was signed and entered
into force in 1970. Under this treaty, a total of 190 parties have agreed to help prevent the spread
of nuclear weapons. A few years later, the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks non proliferation act
(SALT 1) was signed on May 26, 1972 and entered into force on October 3, 1972. After several
years of struggle, the Cold War ended in December 1991.
2.)What nations are directly involved in this issue?
The top contributors of nuclear proliferation include countries like the United States and Russia
(formerly Soviet Union). These two countries were the first to obtain and test nuclear weapons.
They are responsible for more than 93% of all operational nuclear warheads. United Kingdom,
France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea all created nuclear arsenals to attain these
weapons of mass destruction. The United States currently possesses approximately 7,650 warheads,
Russia has

My Catholic Church Experience Paper
On April 11th, 2017, I attended mass in the Blessed Edmund Chapel. Unlike other weekday
masses, this one was scheduled at 7 AM because of it being Holy Tuesday. Never having been to
a Catholic mass before, all of this was a new experience. Growing up in a non denominational
Christian household, I did not have a clue what to expect. From this experience, I was able to
gain insight into the Catholic practices and how they conduct their masses. It also helped to
expand on the teachings we discussed in religion class. When you first walked into the Blessed
Edmund Rice Chapel, you see chairs lined up in front of the altar and podium. Underneath a
majority of the chairs, lay a bible to follow along with the sermon of the mass. In front, in front of
the altar, there were two candles that a Brother lit during the mass. Even though the chapel being
small might seem like a disadvantage, I thought that this feature offered a more personal and
close experience. Up on the altar, in between the candles, there was a wooden figure of Jesus on
the cross. It was in a way similar to churches I have attended before, except there was no altar or
podium, and was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was interesting to finally see the Catholic religion in practice rather than discussing it. I
learned how the worship differs from the fellowship church and at a Catholic Mass. This was
my first time experiencing music like this and also having a service conducted like this. It took a
shorter period of time than I was used to and involved less singing. Attending a Catholic mass
definitely helped me to better understand the practices of Catholics. It taught me more about
scripture and also provided me with an insight to a different religion s customs. From this
experience I will take away a new knowledge of the religion the college I attend represents. It also
showed me what a Brother exactly was and what their duties

  • 2. Comparing Different Ways of Supplying Water to Kenya ASSIGNMENT TITLE: Write a report that compares two or three different ways to supply water in this region. At the end of the report, make a recommendation of the best method of water provision. 1. Introduction Water is one of the vital substances on earth and according to Kreger (2004) Actually, only 1% of the world s water is usable to us. About 97% is salty seawater, and 2% is frozen in glaciers and polar ice caps. Thus that 1% of the world s water supply is a precious commodity necessary for our survival. All humans on earth need water to survive. A human can go for weeks without food but only 5 7 days without water (Szflarski et al, 2013). When the water in your body is reduced by 1% you become thirsty. Apart from drinking it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This source of water is very expensive to operate in rural areas of Kenya because the materials and running cost is on the high side. It has a lot of environmental impact, positively it is an additional source of water supply and it helps to keep the groundwater aquifers from going dry however the side effect of desalination is that it leads to the emission of greenhouse gases, large production of concentrated brine, discharge of salt by product which is harmful to people residing around. Water born diseases will be reduced drastically and also creates job opportunities due to large industrial plants for processing. Source of steady electricity power to make this plant work will be a major concern and a large number of inhabitants make lack the technological knowledge to operate the desalination plants. • 3. The Harlem Renaissance The Harlem Renaissance writers were able to speak out for African Americans and present to the world their own culture into American life. This movement allowed African Americans to share their talents and abilities with the rest of the society and they did not have to feel the least bit ashamed about it. Through having the chance to share their work, these writers spread across America the new negro ; an individual who has the power to express, share, and present to the world their own uniqueness of culture (Locke, 985). Although the Harlem Renaissancemade a huge impact on repairing the psychology of the negro , Langston Hughescontributed a great deal to this movement of change as well. In his essay, Blueprint for Negro Writing, Richard Wright rejects the Renaissance at which he brings forward several reasons as to why. To begin, he discusses the role of the negro writing and how the negro writer does not write to the black audience, but to the whites and through doing so, the negro writer treats themselves worse than others. In the text, he writes: Rarely was the best of this writing addressed to the Negro himself, his needs, his sufferings, his aspirations. Through misdirection, Negro writers have been far better to others than they have been to themselves (Wright, 1403). In his work, he questions the power of the Negro writers and the path that they are taking. Initially, the negro writers are not focusing on their own lives, their experiences and condition (Wright, 1403). Another issue that Wright brings forward in his essay is that Negro writing has been addressed in the main to a small white audience rather than to a Negro one, it should be stated that no attempt is being made here to propagate a specious and blatant nationalism (Wright, 1405). Essentially, what Wright is addressing is that writers are more focused on the white audience rather than the black audience and he states that a gap continues to widen between them and their people (Wright, 1404). Another point that Wright makes is that Negros should accept the nationalist implications of their lives, not in order to encourage them, but in order to change and transcend them (Wright, 1406). In response to this, Wright says that Negro writers should be focusing on the hardships of their lives, and the fact that their life is not easy (Wright, 1406). The only way to bring change is to accept the fact that this is the reality. In his work, he continues to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In cellular immunity, the effector phase is triggered once the T cell receptors (TCRs) expressed on the surface of T lymphocytes engages specific peptide antigens (Ags) presented by MHC molecules, and regarded as one of the key discoveries in our understanding of the adaptive immune response. Presumably, due to the selective pressure exerted by the pathogens, T cells have evolved to recognize a range of chemically distinct antigens such as lipids and vitamin B metabolites and challenged the prevailing view that T cells are solely reactive to peptide antigens presented by MHC molecules. Perhaps one of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The above holds true particularly when mouse model is used to evaluate the functional outcome of NKT cells, wherein the role of CD1d2 in antigen presentation and NKT TCR recognition remain obscure. This is has been overcome with the crystal structure of the CD1d2, which has now provided a valuable insight into the antigen presentation mechanism mediated by CD1d2. The crystal structure has identified a smaller A antigen binding pocket in CD1d2, which in turn indicated the possible requirement of shorter acyl chain length lipid for its antigen presentation. Given that most of the antigens that were studied in the context of NKT cell mediated immunity required longer A pocket compared to the relative size in CD1d2, the study indicates that CD1d2 might present a different set of lipid antigens for NKT TCR recognition. Further, owing to their monomorphic nature, the finding can be used as a potential lead to evaluate how the difference in antigen presentation can impact the reactivity of NKT cells and subsequently the outcome of the NKT cell mediated immune response. In addition, the crystal structure could be used as a platform for the development of novel immunotherapeutics with the special focus on CD1d2 restricted NKT cells. In future, the study will be aimed to address the structural basis of NKT TCR CD1d2 Ag recognition, which will considerably help us in understanding the basis of CD1d2 in lipid mediated ... This theory asserts that learning is a cognitive process that takes place in a social context and can occur purely through observation or direct instruction, even in the absence of motor reproduction or direct reinforcement. I observed two young, caucasian boys at a shopping mall. The purpose of this paper is to use the course material from my PSY 335 course and applicate it to the real world through this observation. Bandura s theory stressed that one can acquire a wide range of behaviors and thoughts through observing others behaviors. In this case, one boy observed the other boy point at the carousel, say horsee, and repeated the same behavior. Similarly, while riding the carousel, the boy observed the other boy making clicking noises with his tongue and saying neigh, neigh, and repeated the same behavior. Despite the illegality of underage drinking, many youth still participate in the consumption of alcohol before their 21st birthday. Underage drinking is not intrinsically wrong, rather it is criminalized and misperceived because of current laws. Because the current law regarding underage alcohol consumption is not working, maintaining that law is illogical and stupid. A simple solution to this problem exists; the drinking age should be lowered to 18. Many benefits will occur if the drinking age is lowered to the age a person is legally recognized as an adult, including an economic boost, a decrease in dangerous drinking, and a decrease in illegal activity.... For example, binge drinking is the 5th biggest reasons teens have to visit the hospital (3 4 Blau). This means that there would be more available supervision and access to medical help should a circumstance warrant the need for it. A lower drinking age would also make the topic of drinking less taboo which would allow people to become more informed about the dangers of alcohol and help them learn to drink responsibly. Another very important reason to decriminalize drinking under the age of 21 is to ensure that anyone in need of medical help gets it, regardless of how inebriated they or their friends are. Often, teens die from drinking because the people they are with do not call for help if an unfortunate situation occurs. She starts the first stanza by saying the following, hope is a thing with feathers . By this she creates a metaphorical image of a bird to describe the image of hope without explicitly saying so. The word feathers gives the reader the image of a bird, but it can also symbolize the feathers as something that can help you fly or escape to something better. The next lines continue this imagery by saying, (hope) that perches in the soul . These two lines create the image that hope is not just a word, but something that lives in your soul. The word perches is a birdlike quality and supports the image of hope as a bird. Another way to look at the word perch is that it could be a metaphor for a home. After seeing what her mother went through for accepting her blackness and living her life as a black woman, she knew that was not the life she wanted to live. Even though Sweetness knew she was a black woman, she did not want to face the harsh reality of being one. But how else can we hold on to a little dignity? How else can we avoid being spit on in a drugstore, elbowed at the bus stop, having to walk in the gutter to let whites have the whole sidewalk, being charged a nickel at the grocer s for a paper bag that s free to white shoppers? Let alone all the name calling. I heard about all of that and much, much more. (Morrison) After hearing about all of the stories that other blacks went through, Sweetness knew her only way out was to use her light skin to her advantage. It was not a difficult decision for her to make because she knew all of the advantages that came with it. By living life as a white woman, Sweetness was able to have a job at a hospital and live a life that was much easier than her mother s. But after having a dark skin baby, she knew life as she ... Answer: Speaking about the products I m most pessimistic about I d mention PB Slices first; I hardly believe in a commercial success of a collapsible biking wheel, too. But in both cases I see the ways for improvement. I will explain my point in succession and start from PB Slices. Basically, there are many good examples of market success of the ideas built up on people s total laziness assumption: remote control, fast food, automatic dishwasher and washing machine, baby diapers, automatic gear transmission... They all came up at the right time and were able to improve people s lives by a) saving time and b) doing things better than their time consuming predecessors. I do not think that PB Slices can be described in the same terms. First, it is time saving, convenient and does not require knife usage. But is it such a big deal to spend 20 more seconds and to make a normal sandwich, to put a knife into a sink and to wash it later with all the dishes? I doubt that. Second, the slices look very thin and many peanut butter lovers claim that they prefer a good thick sandwich. And third, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand Justin Ewers used evidence in the real story that not only was Paul Revere a lone rider but there was 2 other riders that helped spread the message. In Paul Revere s Ride, it has said that Paul was traveling on a horse through each town like Lexington and Concord to alert the people. But the real story was that Paul was writing the horse but his horse was confiscated so he ran all the way to another town. Then the poem said that Paul achieved what he did and the British scattered away from the fight. • 25. The Sound Of St. Mary-Le-Bow Bells The Sound of St. Mary le Bow Bells: The Decline of the Cockney Accent The Cockney accent is a British dialect possessing a longstanding and rich history. Famous for its use of rhyming slang and unique linguistics, the Cockney accent, and the history associated with it, is a source of pride to many living in London s East End. The traditional definition of a cockney is one who was born within the sound of St. Mary le Bow Church bells, though, an accent typical of working class Londoner suffices as well (Mott 71). Despite the accent s century long history being tied to the working class of London s East End, there is now a large shift in the region s dialect. A large influx of immigration has occurred in the East End, and the result is the slow emergence of a new accent. Sociolinguistics Dr. Sue Fox refers to it as Multicultural London English, and describes the accent as one of Jamaican, Indian subcontinent and West African English (Hayes). With the emergence of the new accent, the notorious rhyming slang is disappearing, and certain traditional Cockney inflections are becoming less frequent. While the accent is not completely lost due to native speakers carrying it with them as they migrate from the East End, the research as it currently stands, suggests the accent s future is one of continued decline. The Cockney accent is characterized by several different features, one of its most notable being, rhyming slang. Cockney rhyming slang functions by substituting a word for ... The killing of Bosnian Muslims during this time was stated by international tribunals to be an ethnic cleansing however the events that took place in July 1995 in Srebrenica was so horrific it was deemed a genocide. Nuclear Proliferation is defined as the rapid spread or increase of nuclear weapons. Nuclear Proliferation has been a conflict worldwide for years. It all started during the Cold War, when the Soviet Union and the United States competed to obtain more nuclear weapons. As the Cold War continued, France, Britain, and China all began to develop their own nuclear technology. On July 1, 1968, the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was signed and entered into force in 1970. Under this treaty, a total of 190 parties have agreed to help prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. A few years later, the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks non proliferation act (SALT 1) was signed on May 26, 1972 and entered into force on October 3, 1972. After several years of struggle, the Cold War ended in December 1991. 2.)What nations are directly involved in this issue?
