Essay On Euthanasia
Writing an essay on the topic of euthanasia can be an intricate and challenging task. The subject
itself is highly sensitive and controversial, involving complex ethical, moral, and legal
considerations. Crafting an essay on euthanasia requires a deep understanding of the various
perspectives surrounding the issue, as well as the ability to present a balanced and well-reasoned
argument.
One of the challenges lies in navigating the emotional aspects associated with euthanasia. The
topic often elicits strong emotions from individuals, making it essential for the writer to
approach the subject with empathy and sensitivity. Balancing these emotional elements while
maintaining a logical and coherent argument can be demanding.
Additionally, the essay should delve into the legal landscape surrounding euthanasia, exploring
the different laws and regulations in various jurisdictions. Analyzing the ethical implications and
considering the impact on individuals, families, and society adds another layer of complexity to
the writing process.
Research plays a crucial role in developing a comprehensive essay on euthanasia. The writer
must gather information from reputable sources, including medical, legal, and ethical
perspectives, to ensure the essay is well-informed and backed by evidence.
Moreover, structuring the essay effectively is essential to present a clear and organized
discussion. This includes introducing the topic, providing background information, presenting
arguments from different viewpoints, and concluding with a thoughtful and thought-provoking
summary.
In summary, writing an essay on euthanasia is challenging due to the multifaceted nature of the
topic, involving emotional, ethical, and legal dimensions. Navigating these complexities requires
careful research, empathetic writing, and a well-structured presentation of arguments.

Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar )
Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depressive illness, is a brain disorder that
causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out
day to day tasks (National Institutes of Health, Bipolar Disorder). Bipolar disorder
symptoms can result in damaged relationships, poor job or school performance,
and even suicide (National Institutes of Health, Bipolar Disorder). Doctors
diagnose bipolar disorder using guidelines from the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM); to be diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the
symptoms must be a major change from your normal mood or behavior (National
Institutes of Health, Bipolar Disorder in Adults). There are four basic types of
bipolar disorder: Bipolar I Disorder, Bipolar II Disorder, Bipolar Disorder Not
Otherwise Specified (BP NOS), and Cyclothymic Disorder, or Cyclothymia.
Understanding Adult Bipolar Disorder (BD) Part II In a question and answer on
the Myths and Realities about Bipolar Disorder Dr. Youngstrom a professor of
psychology/psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and acting
director of the Center of Excellence for Research and Treatment of Bipolar Disorder

common as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in youths, but about twice as
common as autistic spectrum disorders (Youngstrom, 2012). In the United States

Tesco Value Chain Analysis
Established in 1919 by Jack Cohen from a market stall in London s East End,
Tesco has grown and became the leading multinational retailer in the UK with a
wide range of products. Tesco s operations in the UK are the largest within Tesco
PLC (Tesco, 2014). The success of Tesco lies in its strategic management. This
analysis will look into Tescos business in the UK by following a structure of four main
parts: Tesco s value chain management; Tesco s important stakeholders and its
managing them; Tesco s attempt in competing with other rivals and finally, potential
international opportunities for Tesco to get more profit.

When shopping at Tesco, customers can compare prices of Tesco products with
ones of Asda, Sainsbury and Morrisons. If the products are cheaper there,
customers will be given a coupon. Tesco gets the prices for customers to compare
from taking daily prices from Asda.com grocery website, Sainsburys.co.uk website
and using an independent agency to visit Morrison s store twice a week. (Tesco,

introducing their own tablet called Hudl and mobile apps that can be used for online
shopping, viewing movies and other Tesco branded services. Hudl cost about ВЈ119 a

Moonshine In Southern Appalachia
Southern Appalachia is located in the Eastern United States cultural region. It
stretches from the southern part of New York to northern Alabama, Mississippi and
Georgia. This cultural region in the Eastern United States relies heavily on moonshine
and the distribution of moonshine. Moonshine is illicitly distilled or smuggled liquor.
Other words that are common when speaking of moonshine is white lightning,
mountain dew, hooch, homebrew, and white whiskey. The making and distribution of
moonshine has helped shape the literature, music, and environment of Southern
Appalachia while the Whiskey Rebellion and the Prohibition helped lead moonshine
to its part in the Southern Appalachian society today. Moonshine is an essential part

The answer to this problem was to put a federal tax on liquors and spirits, like
moonshine, white whiskey, hooch, mountain dew, etc. For these early moonshiners,
making and selling alcohol wasn t a hobby or a way to make extra cash it was how
they survived (Grabianowski). Moonshine is typically made with corn mash.
Moonshine was once banned under the 18th Amendment to the United States
Constitution. However, the liquor controlled laws forbid moonshining focus
mainly on evasion of revenue taxation on spirituous and intoxicating liquors, and
are required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives of the
United States Department of the Treasury (Wikipedia). The enforcers of these
laws are known as revenooers or revenuers. Early in American history, these federal
agents were attacked when they came around to collect the tax on liquors and
spirits, and a number of them were tarred and feathered (Grabianowski). These
problems arose with the federal agents, or the revenuers because they were trying to
make these moonshiners and farmers pay taxes on their profit, interrupting their
income and profit of making and selling alcohol. Moonshine became a part of the
daily life of these citizens because of the money being made, having to pay the tax
would risk being able to feed their families and make a living. Moonshine was an
essential part of American history because of the profit that came with it and then the
government control that came

Understanding and implementation of outcome based practice within my work setting.
Outcome based practice is to deliver a service which is measured by the outcomes of
the support delivered.
From the initial stages of referral it is made clear what outcomes are expected to be
achieved or worked towards. An individual s care co ordinator will draw up a pen
picture representing the individual and disclosing details of the support that they
require and a summary of their character, within this pen picture, required outcomes
will be stated and it s down to us to detail how we can meet these outcomes within
our practice. A required outcomemay state:

It is of upmost importance that the systems and processes used are in favour of the
promotion of well being. Many professional parties involved in the care of an
individual have many different systems and many different processes so to avoid
confusion I will focus on some applicable to our organisation.
The initial care needs assessment has a huge impact on the individual s well being
as first contact with a service which will be playing a huge part in the delivery of
your care can be quite daunting. It is important to make the individual feel valued,
empowered and in control of their own care package. A good care needs assessment
will reflect the individual s wants, dreams, aspiration s and how they want their life to
be, it will highlight their true needs as well as their strengths.
The review process should have the same result as the above and should ensure that
changes are monitored, progress mapped and new goals and targets are set, it is
imperative that the care plan gives a true and current reflection of the individual in
order for them to receive the correct support.
Lead practice that promotes individuals health and choices and control over the
outcomes they want to achieve (O3.3, O3.4, O4.4)

Tylenol
Towards the end of September of 1982, seven people died from a Tylenol product
tampering on Chicago s West Side. Before the events, Tylenol had over one hundred
million users, and was a total frontrunner in the pain killer industry. After the tragic
events, Johnson Johnson, parent company of McNeil Consumer Products Company
which makes Tylenol, had to face the world and explain why their highly trusted
product was killing its consumers. (Markel, 2014)
The first announced victim was 12 year old Mary Kellerman. The girl had cold
symptoms in the middle of the night, so her parent gave her Extra Strength Tylenol
and sent her back to bed. Next morning, the young girl was found dead in the
bathroom. That same morning, Adam Janus took Extra Strength ... Show more content

At first, when the tampering was not known, media focused on the sensationalistic
fact that Tylenol was killing people producing a negative image for the brand. But
once the real cause was known, Tylenol was seen as a victim of the circumstances.
Before the crisis, Johnson Johnson was not actively involved with press coverage,
but when the event occurred they appreciated the profits of media communication in
order to reach out to their consumers faster and more efficiently. Several major press
conferences had place at the company s headquarters. During the course of the
events, over 100,000 news stories ran in U. S. newspapers. A post crisis study done
by the own Johnson Johnson company revealed that over 90 percent of the country
population knew about the Tylenol deaths within the first week. (Harris, et al., n.d.).
Experts were predicting an obscure future for the product. Advertising specialist Jerry
Della Femina stated that he was almost sure that a product under that name could
never be sold again. Femina was far from being right, since Tylenol took short time
period to be back in the market, and is still nowadays one of the selling leader of
over the counter drugs in the U.S. (Kaplan,

Although a natural phenomenon that comes along with age, sagging breasts don t
have to be one of your concerns. All you need to do is eat more pineapples.
According to doctors, pineapples are abundant in antioxidants and they also show
anti cancerous properties. Pineapples are especially beneficial for women as they
contain substances that restore skin fiber elasticity. This is mostly visible on female
breasts because they lose their shape over the years. Smoking, excess alcohol and
coffee can aggravate the problem, but pineapples can do wonders about it and the

M. Butterfly, Written by David Henry Hwang Essay
As a big crucible, the United States is well known for its multiplicity of races. In
order to maintain the diversity, the American government not only receives people
from different backgrounds, but also sends American to all over the world in order to
learn from various cultures. Even though countries become increasingly closer in
their relations, there still exists numerous stereotypes and negative labeling among
multi ethnic groups, which are most common between oriental and western. Along
with a sharply risen number of Asian visiting America, Illinois Wesleyan University

This contradiction is what makes the ambiguous title of the play, M. Butterfly.
Stereotype towards Oriental women is one of the main themes in the play. The
distressing ending that brings up Gallimard s suicide is an irreversible result of his
distorted thinking toward Asian women, which blinds him to every truth about Song.
As the title implies, Asian women are often compared to butterflies that are docile
and delicate. In fact, the audience will discover that Oriental women are strong
enough to take initiatives in reality. Both Gallimard and Song incorporate cultural
notions into the performance and perception, so that Song is able to exploit
Gallimard by those conventions.
More than stereotypes toward Oriental women, the play also criticizes how the
Western emasculate Oriental from their point of view, like what Gallimard claims in
the play, Orientals will always submit to a greater force. (Act 2, Scene 3) Western
flatters themselves that only a Westerner knows how the Oriental should act, with the
view of Oriental as an effeminate female with delicacy and subservient. As Song
explains The West has sort of an international rape mentality towards the East. (Act 3,
Scene 1)
By creating a false image of Song s gender precisely, Hwang brings another
remarkable topic in this play, which is sexism. When Gallimard sees Song
performing the dead scene from the opera Madama Butterfly, he cannot separate her
role as a

Essay On Columbine Shooting
On the morning of April 20, 1999 Adolf Hitler s birthday two students entered
Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, with as many guns and pipe bombs
as they could carry. The original plan was to plant bombs in the cafeteria to drive
teachers and students to the parking lot, and from there they would shoot as many
people as they could. More explosives would be detonated once police and
ambulances arrived. But the first set of bombs failed to explode. So instead, Eric
Harris and Dylan Kleboldsimply wandered their way around school grounds,
gunning down whoever was unfortunate enough to cross their path. In less than an
hour, the two teens killed twelve students and a teacher. More than twenty others
were also wounded. The onslaught ended when Harris and Klebold turned the
guns on themselves in the library. Dylan Klebold grew up in an upper middle class
family and was a kid few would have expected to carry out such an attack. His
father was a geophysicist and also ran a successful mortgage business, and his
mother worked with the disabled (Dylan Klebold Biography, 2015). The kid was
smart and participated in a gifted student program. He was shy, loved baseball, and
enjoyed being a soundman for school theater productions. Because of this, Klebold

This theory states that sources of strain including failure to achieve goals, lack of
positive stimuli, and the presence of negative stimuli can lead to feelings of
disappointment, depression, frustration, anger, and fear (South University, 2015b).
Such feelings can build up over time, eventually leading to a release of those
negativities by way of causing harm to others. Klebold and Harris certainly did face
plenty of negative experiences during their high school experience, and they could
have viewed their inability to fit in as a failure on their
The Rights Of Gun Control
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. A vast majority of
citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would quickly reduce the
threat of crime. Many innocent people feel they have the right to bear arms for
protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting. Americans have a constitutional right
to own hand guns and stricter laws and licensing will not affectively save lives.
The second amendment states A well regulated militia, being necessary to the
security of a free state, the right of people to keep and bear arms shall not be
infringed. The Founding Fathers included this in the Bill of Rights because they
feared the Federal Government might oppress the population if the people did not

In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded firearm shall be in a locked container other
than the glove compartment or console (Federal Gun Laws). There are many other
laws regarding ammunition, dealers of firearms, antique firearms, sales between
individuals which state, that a person without a federal firearm license may not sell a
firearm to another individual (Federal Gun Laws). Although there are gun laws for
every possible issue or situation, there are still some that believe the second
amendment should not exist and others that believe it is a very beneficial amendment.
The rational given for most modern gun control legislation is Crime Control. The
Brady Bill is one example. The Brady Bill is named after James Brady, who was
shot by John Hinckley during an assassination attempt on President Regan in 1981.
Supporters of the Brady Bill used that incident to gain support for their gun control
legislation, claiming it would reduce crime and save lives. The fact is that the
background check and waiting period included in the Brady Bill would not have
prevented John Hinckley from legally purchasing the handgun used in the incident.
Records show that a police background was run on Hinckley four days before he
purchased the revolver he used to shoot President Reagan and Jim Brady. The check
shoed he had no felony convictions in any jurisdiction. Neither had Hinckley any
public record of mental illness ( Guns 51).

Sublime Elements in Of Love and Other Demons Essay
Sublime Elements in Of Love and Other Demons
The book Of Love and Other Demons (1994), written by the Columbian Gabriel
Garcia Marquez, has more characteristics of sublime literature than of magical realist
literature. Magical Realism and the sublime are so closely related that distinguishing
between the two is hard. They are more closely related than magical realism and the
fantastic.
Of Love and Other Demons has elements of magical realism. Of all the magical
elements, the most important and the most obvious is the dream that is shared by
both Sierva and Delaura before they meet. The long red hair of Sierva is an example
of a magic realist element that is hidden. The death of Father Aquino and other

they also partake of a dreamlike quality which aligns them with a host of other
magical realist devices and motifs (Theim 237). This device is also similar to
Weiskel s third phase of the sublime, the reactive phase (qtd in Sandner 52). During
this time, the mind recovers the balance of outer and inner by constituting a fresh
relation between itself and the object (qtd. in Sandner 52).
Another way in which the story may correspond with the sublime is Sierva s long
red hair that had not been cut from the day she was born until the end of her
excorcism. Wordsworth says, about the sublime, Even in the scenes drawn from
ordinary life, [the authors] would throw over them a certain coloring of the
imagination (qtd. in Sander 60). This effect is exactly what Marquez does with
Sierva s hair. He alluded that there may be something supernatural about it. The
sublime affirm[s] a spiritual dimension to fantasy and explores, through fantastic
images, the meaning and existence of spirit (Sandner 145). Transformation, another
sublime characteristic, is used to show how one s perception of something changes
(qtd in Sandner 51). Instead of being just hair, it was a promise to Dominga s god.
Defamiliarization, which is a characteristic of both the sublime and magical realism
(Simpkins 150), is used in Of Love and Other Demons. It focuses one s attention on
something, such as hair, that he or she would normally think nothing

How Do Substances Affect The Freezing Point Of Ice

the substances that we use in our everyday life affect the melting point of ice. I will

lowering this it makes the ice melt quicker. By learning this you can understand
which substance to use to melt the ice off of your sidewalk, or even when making
homemade ice cream. Freezing point depression is a property in solutions that

Galileo Galilei And The Modern Experimental Method
Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy on February 15, 1564. His father, Vincenzio
Galilei, was a musician whose originality and polemic talents fomented a revolution
uniting practice and theory in music much as Galileo was to unite them in science. I
Galileo is credited with establishing the modern experimental method in a time when
most progress made by scientists and thinkers was based on hypotheses alone. He
began the practice of testing scientific theories by preforming experiments and
observing the results. Receiving his early education at a monastery near Florence, in
1581 Galileo entered the University of Pisa to study medicine, later devoting himself
to mathematics. II Unfortunately, he would not have the finances required to... Show

However, through his experiments he did eventually prove that all objects fall at
the same rate, regardless of weight. From 1602 to 1609 Galileo continued to study
speeds of falling objects, including pendulums. He studied these objects as they
moved in arcs and along inclines and developed the law of uniform acceleration,
which would later help Isaac Newton derive the law of gravity.VIII Overtime,
Galileo would contribute many works and discoveries to the field of science, and
is often referred to as the Father of Modern Science because of this. In 1593,
Galileo invented an early thermometer, which became one of the first instruments
for measuring used in science. It was crude and worked by having a pocket of air
that expanded or contracted based on the temperature which, in turn, moved a
column of water up or down.IX Later in 1609, he made improvements on Hans
Lippershey s telescope, which landed him a lifetime appointment to the University of
Venice.X Using this improved telescope, Galileo made new discoveries about the
heavenly bodies of our solar system and galaxy. In 1610 he observed that Venus went
through light and dark phases much like our moon, and concluded that this was
because Venus also reflected the Sun s light. Looking at the Sun itself, he discovered
that it had dark spots and that these sunspots changed in position

Voter Id Laws Examples
We are currently in the midst of a historical presidential election. People are rallying
in mass numbers behind their presidential candidates, and come election time, they
hope to have their candidate s supporter s turnout to vote. However, other forces
such as voter ID laws may already be hindering their candidate chances by leading
to a decrease in voter turnout rates. Thus, historically speaking, voter ID laws have
been prevented and appealed because of a specific provision in the VotingRight Act
of 1965. However, in 2013 the United States Supreme Court repealed Section 4 of
the Voting Rights Act. This specific provision laid out how any changes a states

In addition to that, understanding how voter ID laws may impact election results,
will in return, contribute to the efforts that aim to understand the agenda behind the
recent and rapid spread of such laws. Thus, if my results are what I think they will
be then voter ID laws will be known for what they really are, an attempt at voter
oppression. Moreover, there certainly are limitations to this research proposal. For
instance, while this research should present some insight into the impact of voter ID
laws, the fact remains that there is a limited number of election results that could
demonstrate the true range of impact that voter ID laws have on voter turnout rates.
Therefore, future research will be able to benefit from the increased volume of data
on election results, and in return perhaps be able to build on the results of this study.
In addition to that, since I have a short time window for this project, certain variables
that might influence and also be contributing to lower voter turnouts will be left
Keeping A Healthy Lifestyle On Food Intake
Introduction Our bodies need certain things in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Food is a key ingredient to helping sustain our health throughout our life. When
looking at our diet, we need to look beyond total calories consumed. Instead, we
need to break the foods down into the different molecules that provide our body the
proper nutrients to thrive and grow. Macronutrients are required by our bodies to
properly function, and are needed for growth and energy. These macronutrients
consist of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates which we obtain from the foods we
eat. Tracking food intake is one way to analyze how food consumption meets,
exceeds or falls short of recommended values. Through behavior modification and
small, specific goals, positive dietary changes can help maintain long term health.
Proteins are the building blocks of our bodies. From DNA to muscles, protein is a
major part of our bodies. Protein is found in meats, poultry, dairy, nuts, and fish.
Each gram of protein we eat consists of 4 calories. Proteins are made up of amino
acids, known as the building blocks of proteins. There are 20 amino acids, 9 of
which are essential, since they are only obtained from the food in our diet. The
other 11 amino acids are considered non essential because our bodies have the
ability to create these amino acids. Lipids, or fats, are important to our bodies.
Lipids in our diet come from foods such as meats, nuts, dairy and oils. Each gram
Sam Houston Research Paper
Sam Houston, one of the most illustrious political figures of Texas, but that is not
all he was. Along with politics he excelled in being a business man, the study of law,
a solider to the Texas army, and a family man. But how could a single man play such
a significant role in the building foundations to the state of Texas? Starting with the
basics of who this man is and where he came from can serve as a guide as to why
he did the heroic things he did. He was a vital part in shaping not only Texas but
the young and prosperous country. Born on March 2, 1793, Sam had been the fifth
child and fifth son to his father Samuel Houston and mother Elizabeth (Paxton)
Houston. Along with his five brothers, he also had three sisters. The family resided
on a small plantation in Rockbridge County, Virginia ( ). At a young age of just 13
his father died and was forced to emigrate with his mother and eight siblings to Blount
County in Eastern Tennessee where they established a farm near Maryville. It was

successful private school to help repay his debts. On his twentieth birthday however,
Houston received word about the war break out with the British. He enlisted that day
with the United States Army as a private. It was not long after, even within the year
of his service, he was promoted to Third Lieutenant to the 39th Infantry Regiment

Comparison of Donne and Jennings Poetry
Consider the ways in which Donne and Jennings use form, structure and language
to present their thoughts and ideas. You should make relevant references to your
wider reading in the poetry of love. The poem the The Anniversary By John Donne,
is a metaphysical poem about the sun itself growing older each year, this process
reminds Donne that him and his lover are closer to their end. The second poem is
called One Flesh , and is written by Elizabeth Jennings. In the course of this poem
Jennings explores the relationship and separateness of her now elderly parents. There
are multiple contrasting factors between these two poems, considering they are both
written from different time periods and view love in sharply differing perspective....

Therefore, some may interpret their love as lasting forever because they are
everything , possibly even death itself. On the other hand, in the Jennings poem
One Flesh the loss of love can occur without the physical death of two beings. As
both these elderly couples continue to live but have already dead love. The quote;
lying apart now is particularly ambiguous, it may show how the lovers lay apart
from one another in life or either how they are already dead and lay apart in
separate coffins. Either way it can be seen to show a lack of love, by the notion of
them both being apart . The cycle of fire is metaphorical to the death of love, as
Jennings notes fire she came from has now grown cold . This may imply how no
fire, which represents passion cannot last, and will soon have a death and turn cold
. Nonetheless, there is a slight connection to Donne s poem and the idea of love
being continued in the afterlife. Jennings sees the partners distance as being
strangely apart yet straggly close together . The repetition of strangely highlights
how this is an abnormal circumstance, as Jennings could be communicating how
that despite their difference the bond of love is strong and will hold them
together, maybe even in death. Moreover, a desire to escape love and be free from
it can be communicated by how the woman partner is dreaming of childhood .
Childhood can signify a young girl s dream of growing up and having a fairy tale

Consent And Its Types And Legal Fundaments
This essay will introduce the concept of consent, briefly identify its types and legal
fundaments, look at significance of consent in a healthcare provision and illustrate
the main issues involved with patients consent with midwifery practice as the focal
point of interest. According to Medical Dictionary (2003) consent is an act of reason
, voluntary agreement to proposed treatment made by a mentally capable person upon
receiving relevant information. Patients consent is closely associated with individuals
liberty, person s autonomyand the right to decide about themselves and their body
with assumption of taking full responsibility for decision and its consequences
(Frith and Draper, 2004). Department of Health (2009) precisely defines types of
consent: written, verbal and expressed non verbally. The validity of consent does
not rely upon the type; however, written consent may serve as evidence. For the
validity of patient s consent is essential to determine person s ability to make a
decision, give enough information and clarify if the information given is clearly
understood. Consent is valid only when given freely, without pressure or undue
influence being exerted (...) from partners or family members, as well as health or
care practitioners (Department of Health, 2009 p.11). There is no specific law
covering consent issue; however, it is underpinned by different Acts and rules such
as The Code. Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses

Inventory Systems Summary
The principal role of inventory management systems is to ensure that stores are
adequately stocked. Companies use various methods to track and report inventory.
Retail companies are perhaps the best entities to examine when attempting to
understand inventory management systems. The type of inventory a company has
determines the method they use. Retail companies use the retail inventory method as
a base system. Last in First Out (LIFO) and First in First Out (FIFO) are the two
systems that appear to be used more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The high demand in products requires the company to sustain a large inventory;
however unsold products are costly to a company. An ideal situation is to market and
sell products as quick as possible or at least keep a balance of production and the sale
of products as close as possible.
Target Corporation
Target Corporation is a retail organization that specializes in the sales of goods
such as clothing, house wares, small electronics, furniture, music, pharmaceuticals,
toys, and groceries. The company also makes many of its products available on
their online store. Target Corporation uses the retail inventory method (RIM) to
account for inventory. Target uses last in first out (LIFO) method under RIM.
Under RIM, the valuation of inventory at cost and the resulting gross margins are
calculated by applying a cost to retail ratio to the retail value inventory. RIM is an
averaging method that has been widely used in the retail industry due to its
practicality. The use of RIM will result in inventory being valued at the lower of cost
or market since permanent markdowns are currently taken as a reduction of the retail
value of inventory (Target Corporation). The disadvantages to using this method
include: (1) damaged goods may have less value than what the store paid for them ,
(2) changes in market prices

Fallacies Are Defined As Mistakes By Belief Based On An...
Analysis about Fallacy Fallacies are defined as mistakes in belief based on an
unsound argument, and many different types of such mistakes can occur when a
writer is writing; therefore, when readers read a book, they may encounter different
types of fallacies. Even arguing with some people, they use some false logiccausing
fallacythat can be a frustrating experience. Nevertheless, after people know these
are examples of fallacies, they can identify what they are doing and spot the lapse in
logic right away. Help Those Who Help, Not Hurt, Themselves is an example that is
a short essay discussing the problem about homeless, and some examples of fallacies
exist in the essay when the writer makes arguments.
Misusing of generalizing in the essay causes a fallacy. Help Those Who Help, Not
Hurt, Themselves states that people should refuse to provide homeless help, so
that homeless will learn to support themselves through getting a job and working.
Writher demonstrates that the homeless do not seek work or pride, and they are
satisfied to beg and survive on other s generosity. It is obvious that writer makes a
logical fallacy called overstatement, which occurs when the generalization is
unqualified. That is, it refers to all members of a category or class, although the
evidence justifies an assertion about only some in the class. In the essay, the writer
defines homeless a person who prefers begging for food than working, but, in fact,
only some of homeless like to beg
Pros And Cons Of The First Amendment
First Amendment When talking about the First Amendment, the law protects us
from freedom of speech and free exercise of religion and it also stop congress from
making any new law to prohibit free speech and free exercise. The case involving a
Christian printer who refused to print gay pride T shirts. The printer declined the
printingjob for T shirts promoting a gay pride festival on religious grounds, but he
did offered the customer to help them find other local printers to do the work for
the same price. Based on the information that was provided the printer had a history
of rejecting other orders for shirts promoting sexually explicit material/actions and
violence. There are a couple of argument that he owner could argue about one
would be is that it is his own business and he put his blood, sweat, and tears into the
business. On top of that it was his own money that started the business without any
government helps or assistances. No one should be forced to do anything against
what they believe in. For example, you are an Asian business owner of a printing
shop and a customer came in and requests to do a print job of a man holding
chopstick and a bowl of rice, hanging by the neck with a rope with X as eyes and a
tongue stick out of the mouth. Who would in their right mind take that job?
The second argument would be is that the owner has a right to decline to print
anything against their belief, and a photographer gay or not has a right to decline to
Insulate Your Pipe
If you want to prevent water damage to your home this winter, you need to be
proactive. Here are four easy steps you can take to prevent water damage to your
home this winter.
#1 Insulate Your Pipes
The first thing you need to do is make sure that all your pipes are well insulated.
This will help keep your pipes warm even during the coldest days of the month. It is
relatively easy to insulate your pipes. You just need to purchase pipe insulation from
your local hardware store. It should slip right over your pipes and you can then wrap
your pipes with insulation tape.
#2 Keep Your HomeWarm
Insulating your pipes is not the only way to protect them. You can also protect them
by keeping your home warm. While you are away from your home for work, keep
your heat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can easily purchase hot water heater insulation kits from your local hardware
store, or you can have your HVAC technician install it. Basically, the kit should
include an insulated blanket that wraps around your hot water heater and is taped in
place.
Insulating your water heater will help ensure that your water heater stays warm and
leak free.
#4 Clean Your Gutters
Another way that water gets into your house is through your roof. You can prevent
leaks from developing by keeping your gutters clear of debris. When debris
accumulates in your gutters, it can cause water to get back up, which can lead to
water damage inside of your home.
#5 Move The Snow Away From Your House
Finally, if you live somewhere that gets a significant amount of snow during the
winter months, you need to move the snow away from your house before it starts to
melt. You should shovel and remove all the snow so there is at least a three to five
feet buffer in between your house and the snow.
Removing the snow that is piled up against your house will prevent the snow from
melting and flooding your basement or the lower levels of your
A Long Way Down By Nick Hornby Loneliness Quotes

needs someone to talk to and share their feelings with. Nick Hornby s A Long Way

experiences, loneliness, and inner conflicts, to attempt suicide. Their lives completely
change when they meet each other on the terrace of Topper s House, a famous
suicide point, and share their stories. This novelis written in the form of a journal

the feeling of loneliness can have major
Physical Therapy Career
Exploring career choices can be one of the most tasking process that one will come
upon. Starting off, I always wanted to be a hairstylist. Years went on, then it
changed to nurse, then psychiatrist, and finally settled on what I am now most
passionate about, physical therapy. Physical therapy really appeals to me because I
love life and I want everyone to be able to live life to the fullest. I want to be there
for people who need help getting back on their feet, literally. The working
environment for a physical therapist can vary to several places. Some of the most
common work environments include rehabilitation facilities, fitness centers, schools,
and private practice facilities. Even though the locations physical therapist differ,...

After receiving a degree, the next step is to apply and attend a physical therapy
school. The course of physical therapy schools is about three to four years. Upon
completion, it is highly recommend to do a residence for a few years to gain
experience. Since there are many majors that one can go into for physical therapy,
it is easier to find one that is appealing. I am currently majoring in psychology
which has been shown to spike the interest more to physical therapy schools. With
this major, I am hoping that I will be able to receive a job in the future. Education is
not the only thing, however, that one needs to be a physical therapist. You must also
become certified by taking the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.
Volunteering is also a major part of this career field along with internships, both
which show you care deeply about people. With all these thing that must be
completed, I still am very passionate about this career field. After taking the Strong
Interest Inventory, I am almost certain that this is what I should pursue in my future
because physical therapist was the number one occupation on the list it provided.
Along with being number one on my list, my theme code also match up almost
perfectly with the theme
Comparison Of Interstellar, By Christopher Nolan, And...
We all dream of an ulterior world, a world in which we picture a perfect life with no
struggles, problems, or pandemics. Both Interstellar, by Christopher Nolan, and
Station Eleven by Emily Mandel, depict their characters as struggling not only with
survival, but their sense of their own identity and security. Within Station Eleven, the
saying, survival is insufficient is a recurring theme of Interstellar as well. While there
are some differences in the characters and themes within Interstellar and Station
Eleven, the similarities are the connections to their identity in which they adapt to the
force of change within their world. As the characters struggle with adapting, they
cling to certain things that allow them to remain sane. As a result, the characters feel
like they have a purpose again due to their struggle for survival.
Within their harsh and collapsing worlds, Murph and Kirsten are the puzzle pieces
that connect their stories together. For example, Murph cracks the code of the theory
of gravity with the help of her ghost, her father within the third dimension, providing
her the missing information that saves their planet from extinction. All that time,
Murph tediously trying to figure out what her ghost was trying to communicate,
Murph finally makes the realization that he came back! It was him! All this time... I...

Similarities Between Civil Rights And Civil Liberties
Civil rights and civil liberties are terms that are often used synonymously, but both
terms are indeed dissimilar.
Civil rights are the basic right to be free from unequal treatment based on race,
gender, disability, etc. Moreover, in settings like employment, education, housing, and
access to public facilities. A civil rightsviolation occurs when an individual is
discriminated against based on a protected characteristic. Most civil rights laws are
established by the federal government via federal legislation or case law to protect
these rights. (Civil Rights vs. Civil Liberties)
Americans are fighting for equality for a long time, and one example is The Civil
Rights Movement. The rights of black people in the United States, despite the
abolition of slavery, remained severely restricted, though progress inched along over
the 100 years following the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1866. However,
black Americans still experienced segregation in all areas of their lives, including
being downgraded to separate areas in public restrooms, waiting rooms, lunch
counters and restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, movie theaters,
and public transportation. Additionally, Black children were required to attend
separate schools, and black skin colored people could only obtain employment in
certain types of jobs. Signs posted in some recreational areas even stated, Negroes
and Dogs Not Allowed. (Civil Rights).
One court case example of civil right was the case

Othello By William Shakespeare s Othello
Emilia found it and took it to Iago, who left it for Cassio to find; Cassio in turn,
gave it to his mistress.
To add to his suspicions, Iago sets Othello up to hear Cassio s discussion regarding
his mistress Bianca; however, Othello believes he is referring to Desdemona. This
situation only becomes worse when Bianca produces a copy of Othello s
handkerchief, and believing it to be his own he strikes Desdemona in his rage.
Othello first asks Emilia to confirm Desdemona s unfaithfulness, but she cannot;
therefore, he confronts Desdemona herself. Obviously astounded by the accusation,
Desdemona is devastated. Meanwhile, Iago again tricks Roderigo this time into
killing Cassio in order to keep Desdemona in Cyprus. Roderigo again starts a fight
with Cassio, but Cassio injures him, thus Iago injures Cassio himself. Othello,
believing that Iago and has killed Cassio, leaves to again confront Desdemona.
Wanting to rid himself of any potential threat, Iago kills Roderigo. As Othello is
confronting Desdemona, he tells her to wake up and pray as he would not kill thy
unprepared spirit (5.2.33). After explaining his reasoning for killing her, he smothers
Desdemona with a pillow. Emilia finds her mistress murdered at Othello s hand and
is told that her husband, honest Iago, confirmed Desdemona s adultery. Upon hearing
this she, proceeds to tell him the truth of Iago s deception. Iago murders his wife for
her betrayal, but Othello only manages to injure him. Finally knowing
The Stereotypes Of Young Males
Males are often generalized in regards to how manly their attributes are considered
and if their role in society is associated with masculine ideals. Generalizations that
exist are such of men should; be athletic and strong, be in charge, be the head of the
family, to make the money, to want sex, and not show emotions. These
generalizations are portrayed and instilled in our lives from media influence to even
the adults in our lives telling us so. Males all over the world grow up trying to abide
by the set limits society deems a maleshould do. The mindset of today s society is
tainted with these stereotypes that wrongly push males to conform to society s
generalizations as they grow up.
The time period in which we are young is an important developmental moment, for
youths are beginning to develop their sense of themselves. Individuals begin to
find characteristics they want to define themselves with. This is often a confusing
time since everyone is their own unique person, making everyone not the same. Yet
in our societies there is a certain mind set on what characteristics processed are
viewed as a masculine or feminine. So when a young male finds himself with
these feminine traits, he sees it as something wrong with him and that he shouldn t
be that way. We live in a world where all you want to do is fit in and be accepted, so
as a child that s all we strive to do.
Our mental development is greatly affected by the cultural norm, we are exposed to
as we are growing up.
Analysis Of The Afterlife By Lance Armstrong
There are no heroes... in life, only the monsters win . To John Richardson this quote
could not be anymore true. In Richardson s article, The Afterlife, he writes about
Lance Armstrong s miraculous recovery from testicular cancer to winning the Tour
de France seven consecutive years in a row, and becoming a hero to cancer patients
around the world, to then becoming the greatest cheater of all time. No man has
ever been looked up to so much by so many people and then despised by everyone
until Lance Armstrong. By analyzing Richardson s use of interviews, perfect heroes,
and Armstrong s blood, we can clarify his argument: that Armstrong became the
greatest cheater of all time, and he does not apologize for it. The interview with the
Livestrong president, Doug Ulman, tells us something very surprising. After people
had discovered that all of Armstrong s winnings were won by blood doping, he had
been kicked out of his own organization, The Lance Armstrong Foundation. Once he
had been kicked out, they changed the name from The Lance Armstrong Foundation
to The Livestrong Foundation. No one wanted Lance Armstrong s name associated
with their organization, or with anything in fact. It was then assumed that Armstrong
would never be accepted back into his foundation, but Ulman tells us [i]f he decided
that being a leader in the cancer community is what he wants to spend his life
doing... the foundation would welcome him Wood 2 back (Richardson 83). This was
news to Richardson and

Hills Like White Elephants, By Hemmingway
In Hemmingway s short story, Hills Like White Elephants, it is proceeded
throughout that there are more problems than just deciding on what to do with the
unborn child. Making such a huge decision with someone who is incapable of
supporting anyone other than himself. Typically, when someone already has low
self esteem, being in a relationship with someone who is passive aggressive, makes
for an even bigger catastrophe. The time frame that the two individuals are in, it is
considered immoral to get an abortion, so the decision the two encounter is vague
because the man tries to persuade Jig that it is simple and many people get
abortions, basically that it is a common procedure many couples face. In
Hemmingway s Hills Like White Elephants, It can be quite evident to look at a
relationship and know why a couple may be having problems, it is made clear and
that the mans passive aggressive attitude towards Jig makes her feel as if she only
wants to get an abortion because the man wants her to. While sitting at the table with
their drinks, the man says, If you don t wantto you don t have to. I wouldn t have you
do it if you didn t want to. But I know it s perfectly simple (Page 275). This is the
Americans way of trying to psychologically get into Jigs head and make her feel
like she needs to get the abortion, while doing it in a way that seems sympathetic.
The man lacks empathy for Jig and everything she has to go through, it is also
brought to the reader s attention
The Gamble, John Sides And Lynn Vavreck
Political campaigning is now the full fledged live version of chess, with pawns,
queens and kings, but is all this parading and strategizing actually important? What
is even the purpose behind political campaigns; is it to inform the public about a
candidate or through clever means to win an election at all costs? The truth of the
matter is that campaigns do actually serve an important purpose in the political
world of America. Its purpose is to help inform voters about candidates and to
improve the number of voters at the polling place. In order for these goals to be
achieved there needs to be a clear platform upon which the campaign is built. In the
book The Gamble, John Sides and Lynn Vavreck write that a successful campaign
takes advantage of the fundamentals, national conditions that set the stage for the
campaign, (2). These fundamentals are conditions that the candidate has no control
over, like the economy, their opponent, obstacles or opportunities, and how the
candidate reacts to them affect their ability to be elected (Sides and Vavreck 2). It is
upon these fundamentals that a campaign is built. They inform political stances and
future decisions of the campaign, which makes them an important foundation.
Though these fundamentals are key to the survival of a campaign, equally if not
more so, as Professor David Parker has stated, unless the candidate has name
recognition the campaign is a lost cause (Parker, 2016). A successful candidate that

Henrietta Cordelia Ray Analysis
Limitations are objects that restrict us from specific things we wish to do.When we
are limited from the thing we desire the most, our emotions and feelings aren t there
anymore, and we can t express the songs in our soul into rhythmic harmony. A
musician can make music with rhythmic harmony so that the human soul can hear
the rhythmic harmony. The arts and spiritual soul have several things to do in this
poem. It expresses how the soul hears the musicand the way it changes the person s
mood. However, in this poem, Henrietta Cordelia Ray also states how one can t
obtain the rhythmic sound through the heavenly instrument. Ironically, in the poem,
it states how the person grieves when he s unheard in the change they make since we
never get to feel that same emotionin that way, so we decide to translate the... Show

Imagery is used in this poem an abundance of times, such as how Ray used music
as a form of art to describe certain visions. In the lines 9 and 10, it explains imagery
clearly by saying A vision exquisite. Yet who can match... (9). In this sentence, it s
going back to an image or vision in one s mind that is beautiful and like nothing
else seen before. The following line saying The sunset s iridescent hues? Who

luminous colors that seem to change when you look at it from different angles,
almost referring to the rainbow. For example, whenever we go with our loved ones
to the beach, we usually sit together and watch the sunset go down; it brings a wave
of emotions like love, life, happiness, and for some maybe even sadness, however,
once the sun sets all those emotions to disappear with it because it was for that split
second that we felt a certain type of
Questions On Test Taking Strategies
In order to be successful in taking a test, a person needs to practice and be
knowledge in the area of test taking strategies. There is a difference between being
well prepared for a test and doing well on the test. Even though knowing the content
of what a person will be examined over is important, there are many additional
factors that play in to take a test.
How to Avoid Reading into the QuestionWhenever you read the question for the first
time, never ask yourself the question what if or well because chances are when you
think more than you have to about a certain question, you end up getting the answer
wrong. It is always good to focus on the important words such as immediate, initial,
first, priority because these words are powerful and can change the entire meaning of
question if taken out. Another help key is using process of elimination by taking out
the answers you know definitely are not correct and then going back and rereading
the question. Fill in the blank questions are probably the hardest because you don t
have choices to pick an answer from. Rather than thinking too hard about the various
answers going through your mind, take your gut feeling and apply that concept to
answer the question being asked.
Strategic Words
Strategic words are sometimes good and sometimes bad depending on how much they
confuse the test taker. More focus and emphasis should be put on strategic words
because usually questions who have strategic words in them tend to have
The Nature Of Chaos In Breakfast Of Champions By Kurt...
This is not a subtle story, but it is also at the same time a story about subtlety. Some
things are not going to be fine. Other things will be. Such is the way of the world,
some things happen and others do not. In Kurt Vonnegut s Novel entitled Breakfast
of Champions he talks a small bit about the nature of order, There is no order in the
world around us, we must adapt ourselves to the requirements of chaos instead He
shows throughout the book that things aren t necessarily connected, and that the
small things in all the chaos matter. In the book he often describes things, either
about the characters or the setting, that don t matter to the progression of the story.
This allows the story to transform into a work that, while certainly not technically
the best story he ever wrote turned it from a story about a writer and a man going
insane, into a story that tackles issues as large as free will, and the nature of chaos.
Another interesting tidbit from the story, was Vonnegut s personal interaction with
the story, which came to a climax when he s sitting in a bar slightly separated from
the main characters in his book, he gave (on what seemed a real, and personal
level) a look into his head, so to speak. He said, I had come to the conclusion that
there was nothing sacred about myself or about any human being, that we were all
machines, doomed to collide and collide and collide. That is how this story begins, in
the aptly termed pre earthquake condition. The sky bled down
Character Revelation Of A Worn Path Story By Eudora

Character Revelation of A Worn Path story by Eudora Welty Character is an
imaginative person who plays role in a story. (Kennedy, 1983 in Koesnosoebro,
1988). The role of character is very important. Every story must have its own
character, as their function are to play the role in a story. Sometimes, it is easy to
interpret how the character is. However, most of the time, it is quite difficult to know
about the characteristic of them and readers have to analyses more how the character
really is. The characters are not fully revealed at the beginning in order to make the
readers curious about them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her face lighted. I ought to be shut up for good, she said with laughter My senses is
gone, I too old. I the oldest people I know. Dance, old scarecrow, she said, While I
dancing with you. (Welty, 326 327)
From that utterance, we will know quite much information about the Phoenix
Jackson. We know that she is an old woman. It can be seen when she said that her
senses had all gone, and she was too old. In addition, this character is also cheerful
and full of imagination. We know that from she enjoyed dancing with a scarecrow in
which it cannot move nor talk. In revealing the character, we can also use the indirect
method. It can be seen from what character says and authorial presentation. In
knowing the character, sometimes a character will say something about how they are
to other characters. These characters will react to another character about their
characteristic. However, in authorial presentation, a writer describes his/her
characters contribution and background in a story. If the readers want to know
further about the character, they should analyze the character because everything is
revealed indirectly. To assure our comprehension about indirect method, we will have
an analysis about the character revelation. The technique which will be used is
authorial presentation. As we can read from the short story, A Worn Path : Putting her
right foot out, she mounted the log and shut her eyes. Lifting her skirt, leveling her
College Students Are Not Safe On Campus
Opposed to the college life depicted on television, college is not about partying and
being independent. Students are tossed into reality, responsibilities and uncertainty.
From piles homework assignments to the possibility of not having a meal, college
life contains stress and concern. On a macro level, each student deals with some of
the same problems and these should be fixed. Collegestudents face high tuition costs,
limited job opportunities and uncertain campus security. Each of these issues can be
corrected by making college affordable, raising the minimum wage to satisfy current
living expenses and regulating rules on gun control.
Commonly, tuition costs are a huge topic for debate because college debt can follow a

As an educated bunch of people, students typically watch the news. These men and
women read about school shootings and the debates on whether or not guns are safe.
Especially with the presidential election nearing, gun control is brought up in many
conversations. Some believe we have a right to carry guns and others believe guns
are too risky to carry. However, every student can agree that guns in the wrong hands
are dangerous. College campuses are big targets to blame for unhappy thoughts. For
example, students are constantly under academic, personal and financial stress; this
leads to unstable people holding weapons. So, many begin to question campus
security. Students should feel safe on campus. By banning guns from campus, having
metal detectors in various locations and offering counseling students, colleges can
reduce the fear of being the next target. With automated weapons being very
common, the right to bear arms must be reexamined to fulfill freedom and security
rights. Innocent students should not be burdened with more stress over whether or
not they are safe reading in the library or taking notes in class. Guns must be
controlled so students can feel safe and
Murders in California
In the state of California, according to the CAL. PEN. CODE В§ 187, there are
three types of murders that involve having an intention to kill. They are as listed:
premeditated murder, second degree murder malice aforethought, and murder as a
result of provocation. Murder as a result of provocation is one who states a mental
incapacity for either the time being, such as; blacking out, or they had temporary loss
of control of oneself and could not control it. This is only seen though through murder
cases for it to end up being a lesser charge. Second degree murder malice aforethought
is a non premeditated killing of a victim who cannot be fully proven there was the
full reasoning of the death. This is also known as having some sort of intent or
recklessness.(Cal. Penal Code В§ 187 [West 1996]). Premeditated murder is
someone who sat down and thought the murder through and went along with it,
also known as first degree murder. So with all that being said, in the scenario about
a victim of a DUI accident who had religious beliefs about blood transfusion died
from bleeding out too much in California. The drunken driver was on probation for
a previous DUI he has received, and because of him driving drunk, caused him to be
impaired which caused him to crash into a parked car. Where then the victim was
trapped and started to bleed out. When they approached the hospital, the victim made
it clear that she is against blood transfusions due to her religious beliefs, so the

GOD calling a person to fulfil specific missions
DISCERNING ONE S CALLING * At certain times, many of us have a feeling of
incompleteness and restlessness. Searching for meaning is a part of being human. It
is a persistent longing that calls for some eventual resolution.
* GOD in His goodness created everything out of love. God created us with the
desire and capacity to receive Him. Our natural thirst for fullness is found only in
God.
THE MEANING OF OUR CALLING * The one who calls is GOD

Intellectual Technological Advancements
In the 21st century, life without the internet is something we absolutely cannot think
about. The internet has become an essential and integral part of our lives. There is
no doubt about the fact that the internet and all the technological advancements have
helped improve our lives immensely and has also made life a lot easier than what it
used to be even a few decades ago. However, it is not all sunshine and the internethas
several ill effects too that affect us in ways that can prove to be very harmful in the
long run. Nicholas Carr argues in the video that all these intellectual technological
advancements as he calls them, has a major effect on us in the fact that it alters the
way we think and perceive things. This is something
What Is Racism In Heart Of Darkness
Chinua Achebe creates a strong argument against Joseph Conrad, attempting to point
out the racism innate within Conrad s Heart of Darkness. In Achebe s essay, he
explicitly said, Joseph Conrad was a thoroughgoing racist (343). Achebe depicts the
narration, and setting of Heart of Darknessto further prove his point. But, he falls
short in one aspect of his argument, when he decides to declassify Heart of Darkness
as a great work of art. To begin, Chinua Achebebelieves that the character and Joseph
Conradare so similar in nature, that whatever racism Marlow, the main character,
shows must also be a trait of Conrad. Achebe says, Marlow seems to me to enjoy
Conrad s complete confidence a feeling reinforced by the close similarities... Show

The very nature of the book is crawling with dehumanizing and objectifying
remarks. Achebe had successfully argued his point of the racism in Conrad, but he
had failed with the addition of an extra remark. The fact that he dissociates Heart of
Darkness from great art is the flaw in his argument. Ideology and art should not
associate each other with the objective decision in deciding if some art is great art.
Everyone is entitled to their personal decision for liking art, but this subjective
conclusion should not invade the objective resolution of the greater classification of

Mouton and Marais say its time to reconceptualize the classroom and not
automatically think bad behavior is the students problem and something that needs to
be controlled. (Mouton, J. Marais, H.C., 1990)
He suggested several ideas to ensure that classroom setting will adapt to inclusive
education.
One, classrooms need one main rule respect one another. After this, if students and
teachers create interesting curriculum with materials that matter in the students lives,
then students will be interested, involved and focused on what they have designed.
Two, teachers need excellent observational skills to determine what caused a
behavioral problem. Three, structure the environment so students are actively
engaged and motivated. That will be good teaching for all students. This will involve
collaboration and networking. It also means the teacher is not always in control, but
is a member of the team of problem solvers including the parents, the students and the
other teachers. Lastly, common strategies

Analyzing Political Corruption and its Effects on the Mexican Economy
Gyadisha Sulvaran

Macroeconomics
Warren Smith
4th of April 2014 Abstract For macroeconomics, we were given an assignment to
examine and analyze the causes of the business cycle in foreign economies. We were
divided into groups of 6 and were given the instructions to randomly select a
continent. Our continent was North America. We had to choose between Canada and
Mexico. The reason why we decided to choose Mexico is because of its economy
trade with the US, their migration flow, the interesting influence on oil prices
worldwide and the impact that the drug cartels have on Mexican politicians. Mexico
is known for being one of the world s most corrupt nations but somehow they still
manage to have one of the best industrializing economies in Latin America. The
causes for a country s business cycle can be either endogenous or exogenous.
Throughout this paper, the internal problem of political corruption will be analyzed
and discussed in order to determine Mexico s economic stage.
Introduction Between 175 countries, Mexico is ranked as the 103rd most corrupt
nation worldwide. Corruption has become the cancer of Mexico. Organized crimes
and corruption are linked with each other and cannot operate without one another.
There are witnesses who have seen state police pick up cocaine shipments and
delivering them personally to the cartels. This linkage between cartels and the
Perfect Competition Model Essay
What are the characteristics of a market and why are they so important? Simply, the
characteristics that define a market are the market structure. The market structure is
comprised of features that best describe the goods or services of a market along with
the organizational or competitive characteristics (What is Economics?). Market
structure can also define the number of companies that exist within a market,
producing the same products or providing the same services. The market structure
bares great influence on the actions and reactions of firms operating within the
market, it also bares great significance on the way a firm will market and price the
available products and services. Market structure is also a key component for a

For a company to possess that freedom of entering and exiting implies that resources
such as capital are mobile and that it will not result in the creation of barriers to
entry. An example of these possible barriers of entry could be increasingly high start
up costs that may incur for a new organization.
1.2.Pricing Strategies
When figuring pricing strategies within the perfect competition model a firm must
consider that the attributes of the product and any cost advantages will eventually be
exposed, and will either be mimicked or beaten (Whinston, 1995). Though the perfect
competition model is ideal, it is seemingly impossible for a single firm to
consistently produce its services and goods at the lowest cost. Thus, the perfect
competitor must continuously seek to improve cost management, its production
technology, and even the economies of scope. The most effective way to do so is
through the cost leadership strategy (Kimmons, 2013). This strategy both requires
and allows the corporation to constantly seek ways to further decrease costs, enabling
the firm to stay more advanced with leverage over the competition. This process
needs to be repetitive, in order to maintain established leverage.
2.Monopolistic Competition
2.1.Description
Monopolistic competition is a form of imperfect competition where firms offers
products or services that are different from competitors meaning that the

Abstract
Spectrophotometry measures the amount of light of a specified wavelength, which
passes through a medium. In solutions, Red Blood cells experience hemolysis. The
rate of hemolysis depends on the solutions molecular weight and polarity. The
Sodium Chloride/blood solution did not absorb much of the 540 nm wavelength.
However, the glycerol/blood solution absorbed more of the 540 nm light
wavelength. The polar glycerol/blood solution absorbed a greater amount of light
and lysed. This was due to the ease at which glycerol penetrated the red blood cell s

The answer to this problem was to put a federal tax on liquors and spirits, like moonshine, white whiskey, hooch, mountain dew, etc. For these early moonshiners, making and selling alcohol wasn t a hobby or a way to make extra cash it was how they survived (Grabianowski). Moonshine is typically made with corn mash. Moonshine was once banned under the 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution. However, the liquor controlled laws forbid moonshining focus mainly on evasion of revenue taxation on spirituous and intoxicating liquors, and are required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives of the United States Department of the Treasury (Wikipedia). The enforcers of these laws are known as revenooers or revenuers. Early in American history, these federal agents were attacked when they came around to collect the tax on liquors and spirits, and a number of them were tarred and feathered (Grabianowski). These problems arose with the federal agents, or the revenuers because they were trying to make these moonshiners and farmers pay taxes on their profit, interrupting their income and profit of making and selling alcohol. Moonshine became a part of the daily life of these citizens because of the money being made, having to pay the tax would risk being able to feed their families and make a living. Moonshine was an essential part of American history because of the profit that came with it and then the government control that came

It is of upmost importance that the systems and processes used are in favour of the promotion of well being. Many professional parties involved in the care of an individual have many different systems and many different processes so to avoid confusion I will focus on some applicable to our organisation. The initial care needs assessment has a huge impact on the individual s well being as first contact with a service which will be playing a huge part in the delivery of your care can be quite daunting. It is important to make the individual feel valued, empowered and in control of their own care package. A good care needs assessment will reflect the individual s wants, dreams, aspiration s and how they want their life to be, it will highlight their true needs as well as their strengths. The review process should have the same result as the above and should ensure that changes are monitored, progress mapped and new goals and targets are set, it is imperative that the care plan gives a true and current reflection of the individual in order for them to receive the correct support. Before the events, Tylenol had over one hundred million users, and was a total frontrunner in the pain killer industry. After the tragic events, Johnson Johnson, parent company of McNeil Consumer Products Company which makes Tylenol, had to face the world and explain why their highly trusted product was killing its consumers. (Markel, 2014) The first announced victim was 12 year old Mary Kellerman. But once the real cause was known, Tylenol was seen as a victim of the circumstances. Before the crisis, Johnson Johnson was not actively involved with press coverage, but when the event occurred they appreciated the profits of media communication in order to reach out to their consumers faster and more efficiently. Several major press conferences had place at the company s headquarters. During the course of the events, over 100,000 news stories ran in U. S. newspapers. A post crisis study done by the own Johnson Johnson company revealed that over 90 percent of the country population knew about the Tylenol deaths within the first week. (Harris, et al., n.d.). Experts were predicting an obscure future for the product. Advertising specialist Jerry Della Femina stated that he was almost sure that a product under that name could never be sold again. Femina was far from being right, since Tylenol took short time period to be back in the market, and is still nowadays one of the selling leader of over the counter drugs in the U.S. (Kaplan,

In order to maintain the diversity, the American government not only receives people from different backgrounds, but also sends American to all over the world in order to learn from various cultures. Even though countries become increasingly closer in their relations, there still exists numerous stereotypes and negative labeling among multi ethnic groups, which are most common between oriental and western. Along with a sharply risen number of Asian visiting America, Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, which has never experienced much exotic cultures before, is facing both opportunities and challenges from Asian civilization. Stereotype towards Oriental women is one of the main themes in the play. The distressing ending that brings up Gallimard s suicide is an irreversible result of his distorted thinking toward Asian women, which blinds him to every truth about Song. As the title implies, Asian women are often compared to butterflies that are docile and delicate. In fact, the audience will discover that Oriental women are strong enough to take initiatives in reality. Both Gallimard and Song incorporate cultural notions into the performance and perception, so that Song is able to exploit Gallimard by those conventions. More than stereotypes toward Oriental women, the play also criticizes how the Western emasculate Oriental from their point of view, like what Gallimard claims in the play, Orientals will always submit to a greater force. (Act 2, Scene 3) Western flatters themselves that only a Westerner knows how the Oriental should act, with the view of Oriental as an effeminate female with delicacy and subservient. As Song explains The West has sort of an international rape mentality towards the East. (Act 3, Scene 1) By creating a false image of Song s gender precisely, Hwang brings another remarkable topic in this play, which is sexism. When Gallimard sees Song performing the dead scene from the opera Madama Butterfly, he cannot separate her role as a

  • 11. Essay On Columbine Shooting On the morning of April 20, 1999 Adolf Hitler s birthday two students entered Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, with as many guns and pipe bombs as they could carry. The original plan was to plant bombs in the cafeteria to drive teachers and students to the parking lot, and from there they would shoot as many people as they could. More explosives would be detonated once police and ambulances arrived. But the first set of bombs failed to explode. So instead, Eric Harris and Dylan Kleboldsimply wandered their way around school grounds, gunning down whoever was unfortunate enough to cross their path. In less than an hour, the two teens killed twelve students and a teacher. More than twenty others were also wounded. The onslaught ended when Harris and Klebold turned the guns on themselves in the library. Dylan Klebold grew up in an upper middle class family and was a kid few would have expected to carry out such an attack. His father was a geophysicist and also ran a successful mortgage business, and his mother worked with the disabled (Dylan Klebold Biography, 2015). A vast majority of citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would quickly reduce the threat of crime. Many innocent people feel they have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting. Americans have a constitutional right to own hand guns and stricter laws and licensing will not affectively save lives. The second amendment states A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Although there are gun laws for every possible issue or situation, there are still some that believe the second amendment should not exist and others that believe it is a very beneficial amendment. The rational given for most modern gun control legislation is Crime Control. The Brady Bill is one example. The Brady Bill is named after James Brady, who was shot by John Hinckley during an assassination attempt on President Regan in 1981. Supporters of the Brady Bill used that incident to gain support for their gun control legislation, claiming it would reduce crime and save lives. The fact is that the background check and waiting period included in the Brady Bill would not have prevented John Hinckley from legally purchasing the handgun used in the incident. Records show that a police background was run on Hinckley four days before he purchased the revolver he used to shoot President Reagan and Jim Brady. The check shoed he had no felony convictions in any jurisdiction. Neither had Hinckley any public record of mental illness ( Guns 51). An
  • 13. Sublime Elements in Of Love and Other Demons Essay Sublime Elements in Of Love and Other Demons The book Of Love and Other Demons (1994), written by the Columbian Gabriel Garcia Marquez, has more characteristics of sublime literature than of magical realist literature. Magical Realism and the sublime are so closely related that distinguishing between the two is hard. They are more closely related than magical realism and the fantastic. Of Love and Other Demons has elements of magical realism. Of all the magical elements, the most important and the most obvious is the dream that is shared by both Sierva and Delaura before they meet. The long red hair of Sierva is an example of a magic realist element that is hidden. The death of Father Aquino and other mysterious ... This device is also similar to Weiskel s third phase of the sublime, the reactive phase (qtd in Sandner 52). During this time, the mind recovers the balance of outer and inner by constituting a fresh relation between itself and the object (qtd. in Sandner 52). Another way in which the story may correspond with the sublime is Sierva s long red hair that had not been cut from the day she was born until the end of her excorcism. Wordsworth says, about the sublime, Even in the scenes drawn from ordinary life, [the authors] would throw over them a certain coloring of the imagination (qtd. in Sander 60). This effect is exactly what Marquez does with Sierva s hair. He alluded that there may be something supernatural about it. The sublime affirm[s] a spiritual dimension to fantasy and explores, through fantastic images, the meaning and existence of spirit (Sandner 145). Transformation, another sublime characteristic, is used to show how one s perception of something changes (qtd in Sandner 51). Instead of being just hair, it was a promise to Dominga s god. Defamiliarization, which is a characteristic of both the sublime and magical realism (Simpkins 150), is used in Of Love and Other Demons. It focuses one s attention on something, such as hair, that he or she would normally think nothing

His father, Vincenzio Galilei, was a musician whose originality and polemic talents fomented a revolution uniting practice and theory in music much as Galileo was to unite them in science. I Galileo is credited with establishing the modern experimental method in a time when most progress made by scientists and thinkers was based on hypotheses alone. He began the practice of testing scientific theories by preforming experiments and observing the results. In 1593, Galileo invented an early thermometer, which became one of the first instruments for measuring used in science. It was crude and worked by having a pocket of air that expanded or contracted based on the temperature which, in turn, moved a column of water up or down.IX Later in 1609, he made improvements on Hans Lippershey s telescope, which landed him a lifetime appointment to the University of Venice.X Using this improved telescope, Galileo made new discoveries about the heavenly bodies of our solar system and galaxy. In 1610 he observed that Venus went through light and dark phases much like our moon, and concluded that this was because Venus also reflected the Sun s light. Looking at the Sun itself, he discovered that it had dark spots and that these sunspots changed in position

  • 20. Keeping A Healthy Lifestyle On Food Intake Introduction Our bodies need certain things in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Food is a key ingredient to helping sustain our health throughout our life. When looking at our diet, we need to look beyond total calories consumed. Instead, we need to break the foods down into the different molecules that provide our body the proper nutrients to thrive and grow. Macronutrients are required by our bodies to properly function, and are needed for growth and energy. These macronutrients consist of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates which we obtain from the foods we eat. Tracking food intake is one way to analyze how food consumption meets, exceeds or falls short of recommended values. Through behavior modification and small, specific goals, positive dietary changes can help maintain long term health. Proteins are the building blocks of our bodies. From DNA to muscles, protein is a major part of our bodies. Protein is found in meats, poultry, dairy, nuts, and fish. Each gram of protein we eat consists of 4 calories. Proteins are made up of amino acids, known as the building blocks of proteins. There are 20 amino acids, 9 of which are essential, since they are only obtained from the food in our diet. The other 11 amino acids are considered non essential because our bodies have the ability to create these amino acids. Lipids, or fats, are important to our bodies. Lipids in our diet come from foods such as meats, nuts, dairy and oils. Each gram

  • 22. Comparison of Donne and Jennings Poetry Consider the ways in which Donne and Jennings use form, structure and language to present their thoughts and ideas. You should make relevant references to your wider reading in the poetry of love. The poem the The Anniversary By John Donne, is a metaphysical poem about the sun itself growing older each year, this process reminds Donne that him and his lover are closer to their end. The second poem is called One Flesh , and is written by Elizabeth Jennings. In the course of this poem Jennings explores the relationship and separateness of her now elderly parents. There are multiple contrasting factors between these two poems, considering they are both written from different time periods and view love in sharply differing perspective.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, some may interpret their love as lasting forever because they are everything , possibly even death itself. On the other hand, in the Jennings poem One Flesh the loss of love can occur without the physical death of two beings. As both these elderly couples continue to live but have already dead love. The quote; lying apart now is particularly ambiguous, it may show how the lovers lay apart from one another in life or either how they are already dead and lay apart in separate coffins. Either way it can be seen to show a lack of love, by the notion of them both being apart . The cycle of fire is metaphorical to the death of love, as Jennings notes fire she came from has now grown cold . This may imply how no fire, which represents passion cannot last, and will soon have a death and turn cold . Nonetheless, there is a slight connection to Donne s poem and the idea of love being continued in the afterlife. Jennings sees the partners distance as being strangely apart yet straggly close together . The repetition of strangely highlights how this is an abnormal circumstance, as Jennings could be communicating how that despite their difference the bond of love is strong and will hold them together, maybe even in death. Moreover, a desire to escape love and be free from it can be communicated by how the woman partner is dreaming of childhood . Childhood can signify a young girl s dream of growing up and having a fairy tale romance,

Consent And Its Types And Legal Fundaments This essay will introduce the concept of consent, briefly identify its types and legal fundaments, look at significance of consent in a healthcare provision and illustrate the main issues involved with patients consent with midwifery practice as the focal point of interest. According to Medical Dictionary (2003) consent is an act of reason , voluntary agreement to proposed treatment made by a mentally capable person upon receiving relevant information. Patients consent is closely associated with individuals liberty, person s autonomyand the right to decide about themselves and their body with assumption of taking full responsibility for decision and its consequences (Frith and Draper, 2004). Department of Health (2009) precisely defines types of consent: written, verbal and expressed non verbally. The validity of consent does not rely upon the type; however, written consent may serve as evidence. For the validity of patient s consent is essential to determine person s ability to make a decision, give enough information and clarify if the information given is clearly understood. Consent is valid only when given freely, without pressure or undue influence being exerted (...) from partners or family members, as well as health or care practitioners (Department of Health, 2009 p.11). There is no specific law covering consent issue; however, it is underpinned by different Acts and rules such as The Code. Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses

Civil rights are the basic right to be free from unequal treatment based on race, gender, disability, etc. Moreover, in settings like employment, education, housing, and access to public facilities. A civil rightsviolation occurs when an individual is discriminated against based on a protected characteristic. Most civil rights laws are established by the federal government via federal legislation or case law to protect these rights. (Civil Rights vs. Civil Liberties) Americans are fighting for equality for a long time, and one example is The Civil Rights Movement. The rights of black people in the United States, despite the abolition of slavery, remained severely restricted, though progress inched along over the 100 years following the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1866. However, black Americans still experienced segregation in all areas of their lives, including being downgraded to separate areas in public restrooms, waiting rooms, lunch counters and restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, movie theaters, and public transportation. Additionally, Black children were required to attend separate schools, and black skin colored people could only obtain employment in certain types of jobs. Signs posted in some recreational areas even stated, Negroes and Dogs Not Allowed. (Civil Rights). One court case example of civil right was the case

Generalizations that exist are such of men should; be athletic and strong, be in charge, be the head of the family, to make the money, to want sex, and not show emotions. These generalizations are portrayed and instilled in our lives from media influence to even the adults in our lives telling us so. Males all over the world grow up trying to abide by the set limits society deems a maleshould do. The mindset of today s society is tainted with these stereotypes that wrongly push males to conform to society s generalizations as they grow up. The time period in which we are young is an important developmental moment, for youths are beginning to develop their sense of themselves. Individuals begin to find characteristics they want to define themselves with. This is often a confusing time since everyone is their own unique person, making everyone not the same. Yet in our societies there is a certain mind set on what characteristics processed are viewed as a masculine or feminine. So when a young male finds himself with these feminine traits, he sees it as something wrong with him and that he shouldn t be that way. We live in a world where all you want to do is fit in and be accepted, so as a child that s all we strive to do. Our mental development is greatly affected by the cultural norm, we are exposed to as we are growing up.

In Richardson s article, The Afterlife, he writes about Lance Armstrong s miraculous recovery from testicular cancer to winning the Tour de France seven consecutive years in a row, and becoming a hero to cancer patients around the world, to then becoming the greatest cheater of all time. No man has ever been looked up to so much by so many people and then despised by everyone until Lance Armstrong. By analyzing Richardson s use of interviews, perfect heroes, and Armstrong s blood, we can clarify his argument: that Armstrong became the greatest cheater of all time, and he does not apologize for it. The interview with the Livestrong president, Doug Ulman, tells us something very surprising. After people had discovered that all of Armstrong s winnings were won by blood doping, he had been kicked out of his own organization, The Lance Armstrong Foundation. Once he had been kicked out, they changed the name from The Lance Armstrong Foundation to The Livestrong Foundation. No one wanted Lance Armstrong s name associated with their organization, or with anything in fact. It was then assumed that Armstrong would never be accepted back into his foundation, but Ulman tells us [i]f he decided that being a leader in the cancer community is what he wants to spend his life doing... the foundation would welcome him Wood 2 back (Richardson 83). Hills Like White Elephants, By Hemmingway In Hemmingway s short story, Hills Like White Elephants, it is proceeded throughout that there are more problems than just deciding on what to do with the unborn child. Making such a huge decision with someone who is incapable of supporting anyone other than himself. Typically, when someone already has low self esteem, being in a relationship with someone who is passive aggressive, makes for an even bigger catastrophe. The time frame that the two individuals are in, it is considered immoral to get an abortion, so the decision the two encounter is vague because the man tries to persuade Jig that it is simple and many people get abortions, basically that it is a common procedure many couples face. In Hemmingway s Hills Like White Elephants, It can be quite evident to look at a relationship and know why a couple may be having problems, it is made clear and that the mans passive aggressive attitude towards Jig makes her feel as if she only wants to get an abortion because the man wants her to. While sitting at the table with their drinks, the man says, If you don t wantto you don t have to. I wouldn t have you do it if you didn t want to. But I know it s perfectly simple (Page 275). The Gamble, John Sides And Lynn Vavreck Political campaigning is now the full fledged live version of chess, with pawns, queens and kings, but is all this parading and strategizing actually important? What is even the purpose behind political campaigns; is it to inform the public about a candidate or through clever means to win an election at all costs? The truth of the matter is that campaigns do actually serve an important purpose in the political world of America. Its purpose is to help inform voters about candidates and to improve the number of voters at the polling place. In order for these goals to be achieved there needs to be a clear platform upon which the campaign is built. In the book The Gamble, John Sides and Lynn Vavreck write that a successful campaign takes advantage of the fundamentals, national conditions that set the stage for the campaign, (2). These fundamentals are conditions that the candidate has no control over, like the economy, their opponent, obstacles or opportunities, and how the candidate reacts to them affect their ability to be elected (Sides and Vavreck 2). It is upon these fundamentals that a campaign is built. They inform political stances and future decisions of the campaign, which makes them an important foundation. Though these fundamentals are key to the survival of a campaign, equally if not more so, as Professor David Parker has stated, unless the candidate has name recognition the campaign is a lost cause (Parker, 2016). Other things will be. Such is the way of the world, some things happen and others do not. In Kurt Vonnegut s Novel entitled Breakfast of Champions he talks a small bit about the nature of order, There is no order in the world around us, we must adapt ourselves to the requirements of chaos instead He shows throughout the book that things aren t necessarily connected, and that the small things in all the chaos matter. In the book he often describes things, either about the characters or the setting, that don t matter to the progression of the story. This allows the story to transform into a work that, while certainly not technically the best story he ever wrote turned it from a story about a writer and a man going insane, into a story that tackles issues as large as free will, and the nature of chaos. Another interesting tidbit from the story, was Vonnegut s personal interaction with the story, which came to a climax when he s sitting in a bar slightly separated from the main characters in his book, he gave (on what seemed a real, and personal level) a look into his head, so to speak. He said, I had come to the conclusion that there was nothing sacred about myself or about any human being, that we were all machines, doomed to collide and collide and collide. That is how this story begins, in the aptly termed pre earthquake condition. The sky bled down

Red Blood Cells Lab Report Understanding the properties of the Cell Membrane through Spectrophotometry, Phase Contrast, and Turbidity Abstract Spectrophotometry measures the amount of light of a specified wavelength, which passes through a medium. In solutions, Red Blood cells experience hemolysis. The rate of hemolysis depends on the solutions molecular weight and polarity. The Sodium Chloride/blood solution did not absorb much of the 540 nm wavelength. However, the glycerol/blood solution absorbed more of the 540 nm light wavelength. The polar glycerol/blood solution absorbed a greater amount of light and lysed. This was due to the ease at which glycerol penetrated the red blood cell s cell membrane. Larger, organic molecules in a solution do not cause Red Blood cells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.2mL of 0.3 M glycerol was added to a cuvette, which is placed in a sample holder. Transfer the cuvette to the sample holder in the machine and close the lid gently. Blank the machine by pressing the 0 ABS. 3 mL of 0.3 M glycerol was added to a test tube and10 microliters of whole blood was pipetted into this solution. The tube was covered with a piece of Para film and inverted to gently to mix. The time was recorded. Then, 1.2 mL of the blood/glycerol suspension was transferred into a new cuvette. The cuvette was inserted into the machine and initial absorbance of the sample and time was recorded. The cuvette was covered and mixed. The absorbance of the solution was read at 1 minute intervals and recorded until the absorbance values stabilized. All steps were repeated for the 0.15M Sodium Chloride solution as well. After blanking the spectrophotometer with 0.15M Sodium Chloride alone, the absorbance of the blood/Sodium Chloride solution was recorded at 1 minute intervals for the same time course as the blood/glycerol
