City Of God Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic "City of God" can be both challenging and intellectually
stimulating. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of the subject matter. The topic
encompasses a variety of themes, including but not limited to religion, morality, socio-economic
disparities, violence, and redemption. Each of these elements demands careful consideration and
analysis, requiring the writer to delve into deep philosophical and sociological discussions.
Moreover, the film "City of God" is renowned for its intricate storytelling and the portrayal of
the harsh realities of life in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. Capturing the essence of the movie
while providing insightful commentary requires a keen understanding of cinematography,
character development, and the historical and cultural context in which the narrative unfolds.
The essayist must navigate through the complexities of the plot, character motivations, and the
underlying messages conveyed by the director. Analyzing the film's impact on the audience and
its relevance to broader societal issues adds another layer of difficulty to the task.
Additionally, the need for a cohesive and well-structured argument further complicates the
writing process. Balancing the exploration of various themes and maintaining a logical flow
throughout the essay demands careful planning and organization. It's essential to seamlessly
integrate quotes, examples, and analysis to support the central thesis, adding an additional layer
of challenge to the writing process.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "City of God" requires not only a strong grasp of the
film's intricacies but also a profound understanding of the broader issues it addresses. The task
demands analytical thinking, critical interpretation, and the ability to express complex ideas
coherently. Despite the challenges, successfully navigating through these complexities can result
in a rewarding and thought-provoking essay.

Hiroshima Bombing Essay
Hiroshima and Nagasaki Bombing
The United States of America became the first and the only realm to use the atomic
bomb weaponry during the war. The event happened when the nation dropped the
atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima in japan. Although the nation had their
intentions on dropping the weapon, it brought a lot of negative impacts both to
Japan and to America. Over seventy years later the bombing impact is still very
significant not only to the affected nation, but also to world history on war. Although
the atomic bombing of Hiroshima brought an end to World War II, it is argued that it
started a cold war between the two nations.
The United States was developing atomic weapons from the year 1940 even after
being warned by Albert Einstein on the research on nuclear weapons by Nazi
Germany. By the time the United States tested its first atomic bombing Mexico in
July 1945, Germany had already been defeated. However, the war against Japan in
the pacific was increasingly becoming furious. The then American president Harry S.
Truman had been warned by some of his advisers on the casualties that would befall
America if they went ahead with the bombing. However, the president ordered for the
use of the new weapon in an attempt to end the war.
On the 6th of August 1945, a five ton bomb was dropped on Hiroshima city in
japan. The very powerful blast brought down a four square miles of the city reducing
it to ruins. Over 80,000 people were killed on the spot and a lot more died

From all areas of the world, people have been changing their forms of government
in an attempt to decide on what s best for their country. Apart from most,
Communism is targeted toward making all equal, and it eliminates the concept of a
dictator. The contradictory fact is that the concept fails when people cannot reach
an agreement themselves, and then they realize a leader is needed to make the final
decisions. Of course, with greed to be on top, people do not stray from this empty
position for long. As unfortunate as it is, even when people decide to become equal,
someone always wants to be the king. When this thirst for power is between men and
women rather than the dictator and the country, men try to be in control while

There is always an alpha when it comes to canines, and Steinbeck relates this to
humans. Elisa s characteristics are sometimes described masculine or dog like. In
some parts: Elisa... enters the story looking blocked and heavy, wearing a man s
hat, heavy gloves, and a print dress... [And] she could easily be mistaken for a man
(Higdon 2). This is not the way you would picture her since even critics describe
her as the otherwise attractive Elisa Allen (Sullivan 5). When Elisa was talking to
the tinker, she was described like a canine, especially when she [bared] her teeth :
Her upper lip raised a little, showing her teeth (5). Besides Elisa being described
like a dog, the tinker s mutt is like Elisa because a mutt is a dog that is mixed bred,
and Elisa is described with a mix of manly and feminine characteristics (5). The
mutt seems to always be ruled by the other two shepherd dogs, which shows how
Elisa s life is constantly being ruled by someone else. At one point, the mongrel
darts from its accustomed position beneath the tinker s wagon, the two ranch dogs
shepherd it back (5). When Elisa challenged the tinker that she could do his job, the
tinker shepherded her back with the words: It ain t the right kind of a life for a woman

The Similarities Between LGBT And Muslims And The

Here today in society we get judged so harshly. People are afraid to be themselves. I
think it is funny how everyone has an opinion about something or someone. What
we do not take into consideration is the people s feelings or just the simple fact it
is there life. I did not necessarily come out to my family as being bisexual because
of how their reactions usually are when it is something they don t want to hear. So I
started leaving hints to get them to understand, and once that happened my aunt
started to act all judgmental and would always frown her face at me when I brought
up my ex girlfriend s name. Although I am not a lesbian or a Muslim, I can relate to
the feeling of being judged. The LGBTcommunity and Muslims have very similar...

The second similarity between the LGBT community and Muslims are hate
crimes. For example Ericka Menendez pushed a Hindu man off the train tracks.
The reason for that she says, I pushed a Muslim off the train tracks because I hate
Hindus and Muslims ever since 2001 when they put down the twin towers I ve
been beating them up (qtd.Women Is Charged With Murder as a Hate Crime in a
Fatal Subway Push). I think this is the most ignorant thing I heard yet, for you to
push a man off a train track because other Muslims or Hindus done something
horrible doesn t mean he s just like the rest. I am not saying what the Muslims did
was right but neither is being prejudice and taking matters in your hand either, that
is the reason for justice. Second example is a man name Christian Howard (a gay
man) who was attending the gay pride event. He was enjoying the parade and
taking pictures just like any other person there, but unfortunately a group of men
notice him and started saying gay insults towards him and came over and started
beating on him. He fears to walk down the street and has loosen sleep over the
incident (Man s beating in Detroit gay festival caught on tape). The purpose of the
event is to have that one day they can enjoy but yet they still have to defend their
selves against society. Given that the LGBT community and Muslims had a hard path
to go through, majority of society learned to accept them. For instance multiple cities
How Is Onomatopoeia Used In Huckleberry Finn
Literary Term #6: Onomatopoeia
Onomatopoeia: A word whose pronunciation is the same as the sound it represents.
Example: Boom! I see the white smoke squirt out of the ferryboat s side. You see,
they was firing cannon over the water, trying to make my carcass come to the top
(37). Twain, Mark. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. New York: Bantam Dell,
2003.Print.
Function: This use of onomatopoeia represents a significant change in the story
because, at this moment in the story, Huckleberry Finn is pretending to be dead. The
people of the town are using cannons to find his corpse, but will not find it because
Huckleberry Finn is not actually dead. The boom of the cannon represents how the
novel will take a turn into an entirely new direction

Introduction
Diabetes Mellitus affects 29.1 million people in the United States of America.
According to the center for disease control and prevention (2014), minorities have
higher rates of disability and death due to diabetes mellitus. Traditional diabetes
educational programs have not proven very effective to Nigerian Immigrants in
assessing knowledge and attitudes surrounding diabetes mellitus. Culture Centered
Educational Programs are more effective in improving metabolic control, (American

Diabetes Mellitus affects 29.1 million in the United States of America alone.
Complications due to diabetes mellitus are a significant measure of costs of
healthcare and estimated to be 249 billion dollars annually, (Center for Disease

Trauma In Veterans
Fighting for your country is hard enough without returning home to face another
battlefield, an invisible internal struggle with being home. According to research
done by Dr. Patel, almost half of the veterans returning home that were in active duty
in Iraq and Afghanistan are coming back with invisible mental wounds that we are
still attempting to understand. (Patel, 2015) Many face continuous struggles to
reintegrate themselves back into society due to the conditions they are trained
under. Understanding the impacts of trauma, more support for caregivers, and a
hands on, positive approach to the hidden mental illnesses, society will be better
prepared to help veterans transition back to civilian life. Post traumatic stress
disorder is not a new concept to the military. Identified in 1945 as war neuroses
(Grinker Spielgel, 1945) PTSD, as most psychologists refer to this disorder as, is a
common occurs to military personnelstationed within the battle lines. This condition
can include having nightmares, flashbacks, mood swings and much more. (U.S.

(Patel, 2015) This creates more problems for not just the veteran themselves, but for
the whole community. Some veterans returning home cannot even operate a vehicle
themselves due to mental stress. According to the method formed by Viktor Frankl, a
Nazi concentration camp survivor, if the veterans could change the negative effects
from their experiences into a positive outlook then maybe healing can begin long
before returning home (Osran, Smee, Sreenivasan, Weinberger, 2010) Using spiritual
motivation accompanied by positive therapies, veterans might be able to transition
more smoothly back into
Wicca Invocation
The word invoke, as defined by Merriam Webster, means to petition for help, to call
forth or summon, or to solicit through an earnest request. Its first use occurred in
the 15th century. The word invoke is from Middle English envoken from the
Middle French very invoquer. This originated with the Latin verb invocare, which
is composed of the root vocare meaning to call , and can be found in such words as
voice and vocation. This is the same as that found in the word envoke. The Latin
word invocare means to call upon, or implore. When used as part of the noun
invocation, the word means to petition (to God or a god) for aid or comfort , such
as a prayer, but can also mean a summoning of evil spirits . I believe all of these
definitions are applicable to the use of the word in Wicca. On its most basic level,
invoking is calling something within yourself. When this is done, it is also a way of
petitioning a deity for assistance. And while it is possible to summon evil spirits, it
is the summoning of benign spirits, elements, entities and deities that form the basis
for invoking within the Wiccan faith. It is calling them within yourself to work with
the combined energy. In the Wiccan practice, the process of invocation is a powerful
tool and is a form of voluntary possession. You are temporarily replacing... Show

I know that it requires a lot of energy, a more than passing understanding of the
deity or spirit that you are trying to invoke, and the intent to do so. I m sure a
practitioner can have varying degrees of success with this. Some experiences may
be more memorable than others. But I welcome the opportunity and look forward to
reaching the point where I can try this. Combining the energies of the Goddess with
my own would be an amazing feeling. However, I think this is something I would

The As A Sense Of Wholeness
Since the dawn of mankind, comprehension of mortality has been a leading concern
on the agendas of a myriad of disciplines. As temporal beings, humans are given an
entire lifetime to attempt to conceptualize and rationalize the idea of death, or the
moment of no longer existing in the physical realm. According to Martin Heidegger,
in order to discover what man is , we must grasp the essential being (Dasein) in its
wholeness (Heidegger вќЎ9). Dasein s structure must be understood primordially as
always being a whole. Humans spend their existence attempting to achieve this sense
of wholeness or completeness, yet Heidegger argues later in Being and Timethat
reaching this state of wholeness seems to gradually become more impossible to
attain. Why is this? One could argue that in order to achieve a sense of wholeness in
life, one must experience deathin order to complete a feeling of wholeness since
with all life leads to death. But the death of Others being experienced by Dasein is
not a satisfactory condition to executing the wholeness that Dasein lives for, Dasein
can only be whole through experience of its own death. In this paper, I plan to use
the phenomenological method to analyze Dasein s Being in the world in order to
demonstrate the relationship between Dasein s futile attempt at achieving wholeness
in life and the inability to reach that wholeness through the death of other Dasein and
Dasein s own death in itself. Heidegger establishes early on in Being and Time
Nursing Philosophy Of Nursing
Philosophy of nursing and nursing care The philosophy of nursing represents
significant values and belief in my life. Philosophy of nursing and nursing care is
associated with a strong commitment to self, others and the environment. It requires
high quality, competent as well as collaborative care. Most importantly, the
philosophy promotes essential values such as empathy, integrity, compassion, respect,
and honesty.
Premise: The act of caring is a genuine devotion to both self and others.
Caring for individuals in need is one of the greatest acts of kindness. However, it is
important to love ourselves first to be able to care for others (Norman, 2012).
Notably, one s background, beliefs, and way of upbringing greatly influence people s
general perceptions and worldview. Very earlier in my childhood, my parents

It is important for nurses to show respect for patient s religion, culture and right to
choose. For instance, a critical care nurse may feel that choosing to suffer is cruel,
however, it is a moral obligation for nurses to provide care that is impartial, and to
respect patients autonomy and free will. As an ICU nurse, I have been privileged to
care for critically ill patients who chose to endure the suffering. I allow them to
express their feelings, I listen, and empathize with them and their loved ones.
Conclusion: Caring is not only the core and essence of nursing practice but rather a
holistic calling. Nurses must continue to cultivate an environment that allows for self
reflection and promote healing. Nurses must also continue to prove their commitment
to patients through education, collaboration with patients, families and others who
are also caring for the patients. Advanced education equally plays a substantial role
in improving quality of care. Therefore, it is imperative for nurses to continue to
expand their knowledge and

Laparoscopic colectomy is surgery to remove part or all of the large intestine (colon).
This procedure is used to treat several conditions, including:
Inflammation and infection of the colon (diverticulitis).
Tumors or masses in the colon.
Inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn disease or ulcerative colitis. Colectomy is
an option when symptoms cannot be controlled with medicines.
Bleeding from the colon that cannot be controlled by another method.
Blockage or obstruction of the colon.

The part of the intestine between the clamps or staples will be removed.
If possible, the ends of the healthy colon that remain will be stitched or stapled
together to allow your body to expel waste (stool).
Sometimes, the remaining colon cannot be stitched back together. If this is the case,
a colostomy will be needed.
For a colostomy:
в—‹ An opening to the outside of your body (stoma) is made through the abdomen.
в—‹ The end of the colon is brought to the opening. It is stitched to the skin.
в—‹ A bag is attached to the opening. Stool will drain into this bag. The bag is
removable.
в—‹ The colostomy can be temporary or permanent.
The incisions from the colectomy are closed with stitches or staples.
The procedure may vary among health care providers and hospitals.
AFTER THE PROCEDURE
You will be monitored closely in a recovery area until you are stable and doing well.
You will then be moved to a regular hospital room.
You will need to receive fluids through an IV tube until bowels start to work properly.
Once your bowels are working again, you will first be given clear liquids and then
solid food as much as you can

Brazil s Development Without Long Term Damage to the Amazon
Introduction
As part of this essay I will be discussing the issues involved with Brazil s Amazon
rainforest and how they as a country can use the rainforests resources for their
development, without impairing the ability to use those resources in the future. In
other words it is saying that Brazil should not cause long term damage to the
rainforest when extracting resources. This is called sustainable development, and as
it suggests, it means to sustain the environment whilst also continuing to develop
their needs. However, there are several issues surrounding this, some people are for

Staring with the arguments against development using the rainforest, these are
mainly viewed by conservationists, environmentalists and researchers. They feel that
deforestation will have major consequences on the planet in the future. The damage
is most threatening to the ecosystem, which all have knock on effects. For example,
once the trees are cut down it firstly causes many species of life to lose their
habitats, without the covering canopy of trees it also exposes the soil. With the
heavy rainfall on the soil it causes flooding and erosion. The actual climate is also
disturbed because it does not allow the constant evaporation and transpiration,
disrupting rainfall. It can all eventually lead to desertification.
The lack of trees will also increase the levels of carbon dioxide in the air and
accelerate global warming. This is what many people fear to lose, as well as the
many range of plants that provide us with chocolate and also some of the most
important medicines and cures.
However, there are also many beneficial factors of development. Some people
argue that why have the different plants and trees that give us fine furniture,
chocolate and coffee if they are not going to be used in development to eventually
be sold to us. The people of Brazil rely on this development to maintain what is their
daily life. As Brazil is an LEDC it needs to exploit the

Questions On Class Hierarchy Analysis
In other words, I started from the entry point and went through all the statements
of method body. Based on Class Hierarchy Analysis definition, for each call site
b.n( ) in the method block, if static type(b)=B, Then the targets of call site b.n( )
will be all concrete (non abstract) methods having the same signature as method
B.n( ) and declared by B or by any concrete subclasses of B including B itself.
According to this definition, I added reachable methods of each call site to the
worklist then made edges from source to reachable methods.
// initialization worklist.initialize() ; worklist while (worklist != empty) {
// remove next method from worklist
Method source = worklist.removeNext() ;
// process statements in source method for each (stmt in source) {
// if statement is a method/constructor call Method if (stmt is a InvokeStmt) { n =
stmt.getInvokedMethod() ;
List reachables = resolveDispatch(n) ; for each (Method target in reachables){
worklist.add (target) ; callgraph.addEdge (source пѓЁ target) ;
} // end of for} // end of if
} // end of for} // end of while
(A worklist approach for CHA algorithm)
The method resolveDispatch( ) finds reachable methods of each call site b.n( ) and
for computing reachable methods, at first I check if static type(b)= B and if B
declares by signature method B.n( ), then reachable methods are method n( ) in class
B and all methods having signature B.n( ) defined in concrete subclasses of B, else I

Table 1. The Phonetic Inventory of Saudi Arabic Many research papers have talked
about measuring stop consonants voicing. There are many researchers put their
attention on figuring out the difficulties of pronouncing voicing and voiceless
consonants by L2 learners such as (Binturki, 2008; Flege and Port, 1981; Al Saidat,
2010). The difference between voicing and voiceless consonants is the voicing that
occurs during the stop closure interval. The consonant is voiced when there is
voicing, while if there is no voicing, the consonant is voiceless. However, Lisker
and Abramason (1964) do not see that consonant stops (p, b, t, d, k, g) could be
distinguished depending on a distinction feature like the vocal cords voicing. For that
reason, they proposed a distinction feature between voiced and voiceless consonants
which is Voice Onset Time(VOT). They defined VOT as ?the time interval between
the burst that marks release of the stop closure and the onset of quasi periodicity
that reflects laryngeal vibration? (1964, 422). Since English voiceless bilabial stop

The Secret Of Happiness Is Relationship
The Secret Of Happiness Is Relationship
By Masami Sato
Jan 14, 2011
What is the reason for our remaining alive? For what have we come here? Day after
day we are being asked about the sense and purpose of our lives. And many of us
keep on searching for answers. Will we be able to achieve happiness? That is also
a question that forces us every day to find out its answer. What happens if the
answer to those queries is quite uncomplicated? What if it is all about ONE thing?
Bonding. The secret of happiness is explained perfectly in the stimulating voice of
Masami Sato in the excerpt of her book, ONE.
What are we trying to find out?
There are many things we do in our life.
However, have we ever wondered why we do what we do? What are we actually
looking for?
The world is a confluence of millions of people of all continents, races, religions, and
ideologies, doing different things. They look different and also act in different ways.
All of us have different interests and each have a different viewpoint. We converse
differently using different languages. We have different emotions and desires.
Still, if there could be ONE thing that we are ALL trying to get, what would that thing
be?
While I journeyed all over the world, I asked people a seemingly straightforward
question, What would you like to achieve in your life? What do you really want?
At first, it seemed everyone was looking for different things as they randomly said,
Good job , My own house , A nice partner , A
Odysseus Leadership Qualities
What is a leader to you? Is it someone you trust? Is it someone you like? Well, I
think a leader is intelligent, brave, and sacrificial. I also think that Odysseus is an
example of a great leader. First of all, Odysseus is a great leader because he is
intelligent. A leader should be intelligent because they have to be able to figure out
how to lead their people effectively. If you has a clueless leader, they might make
poor choices and they could put your whole group in a bad position. Next,
Odysseus is very intelligent because he can think fast on his feet to figure out how
to help his men. Also when he thinks fast, his plans are still of good quality and
they seem successful and not poorly thought out. Odysseus wouldn t be called the
man of many wiles if he wasn t intelligent. Lastly, Odysseus proved his intelligence
when he figured out how to get past the Scylla and Charybdis even though six
people still lost their lives, he didn t tell his men so that they didn t freak out and try
to fight or go slower and have more men be taken. Moreover, intelligence is part of
what makes Odysseus such a great leader. Another characteristic... Show more content

They would have to be able to handle it calmly and smoothly. Next, Odysseus is
brave because when something needs to be done and it could be bad and he will
do it without hesitating. For example, when his men ate all of Helios cattle, he
denounced them and let them face the consequences even though he wanted to
keep him men alive despite what Tiresias told him about them all dying. Another
of Odysseus being brave was when he fought and killed all 100 of the suitors that
were trying to marry his wife and only had the help of 3 other people. He knew that
if he didn t kill the suitors, they might not leave his house or might kill him in order
to marry his wife. These all show that being brave is important to being a great
Exploring The Planning Context And Process Of The
Program
Section I.Reflections:
Through assignment 1, I have acquired new skills to analyze the planning context
and process of the program. In addition, I now also have the ability to recognize and
have further understanding of the different factors associated with the learning
community. I believe assignment 2 will delve further into analyzing and establishing
needs assessments suited for the chosen learning community based on their ideas and
needs. In this particular assignment, I will be establishing constructive goals and
objectives for the program, which is one the most important aspect that will
determine the success of the workshop.
Section II.Justify and Focus Planning: The proposal s learning community consists
of high school student (ages 14 18) and the purpose of employing the needs
assessment to help justify and focus planning for the program. In this particular
program, an educational need (Caffarella Daffron, 2013, p. 166), will be prioritize in
where the planner will be utilizing a one time strategy. A one time needs assessment is
preferred when weigh against the continuous or combination assesments as the
benefit is that there are no routine in which the process can be inserted (Sork, 2001, p.
107). This demonstrates the flexibility that the planners possesses when catering
towards different learning community. To add, the motivation and empowerment is
an inevetiable factor especially when educational need is present. Therefore,

Disruptive Technologies: How the Email Disrupted Snail Mail and the Way in Which
We Communicate
Introduction Although emails can feel less formal and at times include the use of
poorly used grammar resulting in the message not exactly as clear as we would like
it, the email revolutionized the way in which we communicate. In the following
essay we will touch on how and why the email is creating a new culture within the
way we communicate with people. A few of the key points we will touch on are how

As time and society evolved, religious orders and universities developed a mail
system to exchange current events, information, and any other significant news that
was taking place. As the postal service and society continued to progress, private
individuals were able to utilize this relay of messengers delivering mail. By the
18th century international postal service was commonly exchanged between
countries that agreed to participate in international postal service. During the year
1840 the international postal service was growing so complex that reform was
needed to simplify it. Sir Rowland Hill was credited with introducing the system
where postage for mail was prepaid in the form of a postage stamps to fund this ever
increasing delivery system. (Universal Postal Union) The definition of email, or
electronic mail, is a system for sending messages from one individual to another via
telecommunication links between computers or terminals using dedicated software.
(Dictionary.com) Among the people I commonly communicate with, having an email
is just as common if not more common as having an actual physical mailing address.
For example, a student attending Temple University can use a different postal
address for each year of their academic studies due to moving to different locations,
but throughout each semester the student is usually using the same exact email
address. According to an article by Mashable, email can be traced back to 1971, if you
Why Do I Have Kidney Stones Essay
Do I have kidney stones? This was the first thing out of my mouth when I saw my
doctor a few years ago. I had heard of kidney stones before, and I knew that my dad
had them once or twice.
Still, I didn t know what kidney stones were exactly, or the symptoms for them. For
all I knew, my kidneys were just littered with stones that could cause sudden pain at
any time.
My doctor calmed me down and explained a few things to me. After we were done,
I went straight to the library and checked out a few medical books. As soon as I got
home, I hit the books for the rest of the afternoon. Here s what I found out.
Symptoms

In fact, most of them can. But there are a few out there that you can t really protect
yourself from.
Luckily kidney stones are preventable.
There are a number of things you can do to protect yourself. There is a chance you
will still develop a stone, but your risk is much lower if you follow these tips.
First, drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. If you can, try to drink 10 or more.
There are a few reasons for this, but the main one is to keep flushing urine through
your kidneys. The more urine flow you have, the less likely a kidney stone will form.
Another good idea is to avoid eating too many animal products. Dairy products
particularly can increase your chances of developing a kidney stone. This is because
most kidney stones are made up of calcium, and dairy products have high amounts of
calcium.
Finally, talk to your doctor about going on a medical water fast. When you spend
time without ingesting solid food water, it gives your body s digestion system a
break. It can then divert energy to more important things, like flushing out any
calcium oxalate deposits in your kidneys. In other words, fasting can help your body
remove the kidney stone before it gets too
The Impact Of Social Media Impact On Body Image
Kelsey Hibberd, author of Does Social Media Impact on Body Image? states that
television and magazines are the ones who normally portray the perfect ideal body
image, but to her social media has more effect to the way someone feels and see s
their body image. Kelsey did not like her middle school. Kelsey knew she would be
bullied on Facebook about the way she looked. When Kelsey was in her adolescence
she could barely handle the comments people made about her image. Kelsey was
taller than most kids and chubby. She would constantly worry about her facial
features. In her mind, everything was about her image to others. Eventually, Kelsey
did not wantto eat and changed her image dying her hair. Kelsey started talking to
other teens and teacher in schools about body image. She teaches them the hazards
of having a lot of friends on Facebook and consequences of comparing themselves
to others. Twitter, Facebook, apps, WhatsApp, are some of the social media used
for people to interact with each other at any time. Kelsey thinks that social media
makes it easy to know so much about others life s and spread their appearance. She
claims body image affects all ages, even as young as five. Another campaign called
Be Real: Body Confidence for Everyone tries to change people s mind about how
they perceive their self. On Social media, the photographs are not always truthful.
Pictures can be changed to enhance the way someone looks. Dr. Diedrichs asked

Kratom took place in Thailand, which is a South East Asian country. This plant can
be seen in almost all the South East Asian countries. After this herbalplant was

you can even mix that powder with juice, smoothies, yogurt or milk. If you are a

Cancer And Its Effects On Cancer
Cancer is a topic that many don t like to talk about because of its dark association
with death. However it is important to be educated on what cancer exactly is and
where it comes from. First off, there are many types of cancer that can occur in all
areas of the body. The craziest fact is that all cancers start off with the mutation of
just one single cell. We have millions of cells in our body and just once mutated cell
can change someone s life or even end it. Many people will say this cancerruns in the
family and they think that is the cause of the cancer. However that is only true for
few as cancer is inherited less than 10% of the time. The majority of cancer is
caused by environmental factors. The saying that comes with age is true with
cancer as well because mutations will accumulate more as we age increasing the
probability of being diagnosed with cancer. The way cancer cells can grow is
when they aren t responsive to mitosis which is the growth and development of
normal cells. This means that cancer cells will continue to grow without being
checked by the body and its normal growth and division process. Cells that don t
die when they actually should is a cause of cancer happening. This is a part of the
beginning of cancer becoming worse with the end result of a lethal tumor. The life
on a cancer in prolonged by what is called a telomerase enzyme which extends the
telomeres of a chromosome making it longer and longer. A long telomere allows for

The Importance Of Regulations And Actions In Business
There are tР°x regulations and actions to mitigate aggressive tР°x planning and tР°x
avoidance. The aim is to align the tР°x paid with the real economic activities
reducing the tР°x loss suffered by tР°x authorities in the countries where the
economic activities are done.
The relevant tР°x regulations and actions, especially for multinational companies,
will be discussed in this chapter.
5.1. Debt shifting and thin capitalisation regulations.
5.1.1. Thin capitalisation rules
The way a company is capitalized affects the amount of profit reported, and thus the
tР°x it pays. Therefore, rules limiting the amount of interest that can be deducted in
the calculation of a company s profit for tР°x purpose are introduced. The purpose is

Unlike the earning stripping rules, Germany dropped the use of safe harbor. In 2008,
the average safe harbour ratio of internal debt to equity in EU countries was 3.4:1
(Ruf and Schindler, 2012).
The application of TC rules is expected to limit international debt shifting and
decrease the debt to asset ratio of domestic affiliates of multinationals. However,
these benefits come at a cost of reduction in domestic investment, because TC rules
increase the domestic cost of capital and negatively affect a country s position in
competing internationally for mobile capital. It implies that the decrease in debt to
asset ratio will increase the tР°x revenue, but the reduced investment will eventually
have a negative effect on the tР°x revenue (Ruff and Schindler, 2012).
5.1.2. Controlled Foreign Company Rules
A potential alternative is CFC rules mentioned by Ruf and Schindler (2012). The
rules prevent the application of the tР°x exemption rule as passive income is
immediately being included in the corporate tР°x base of the multinational s
headquarters if the income is generated from non productive activities and the
multinational has an ownership of at least 50 percent. Thus, if CFC rules are
applicable, passive income will be tР°xed at headquarter corporate tР°x rate
regardless the location of the income is effectively accrued.
Further, the same authors mention that CFC rules do not adversely affect a country s
position when competing internationally for mobile capital as the

The way how the scenes of the movie looks in the eyes of the director, he wanted

The performance of the movie was outstanding. The thought of having Emma
Stone being the protagonist is a film, is a great fit for this type of character in the
movie. I believe that Emma Stone have certain way of showing a leadership role a
multiple of films that she starred in. Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer did a
magnificent job playing as the role off the two maids. Both of these women have
probably experienced some sorts of racism in the lives, and can relate well to the

19th Century London in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
A time for finding yourself a year older, and not an hour richer this is a good
example that represents Scrooges overall attitude to
Christmas and those who celebrate it.
The central character of a Christmas Carol is Ebenezer Scrooge a man portrayed by
Dickens as a miser who cares little for others around him, a man whose only interest
in life is money that can be made from exploiting other people.
The novel is set in Victorian London in the 19th century, a London that is very
different to the London we know today; there was no welfare state, National Health
Service or environmental laws. Real poverty existed and those that had no money

Scrooge had a very small fire, but the clerk s fire so much smaller that it looked like
one coal. This shows that
Victorian building where cold damp places where nobody really wanted to be. This
also shows how Scrooge treats his overworked and hardworking clerk as he had to
work in such conditions. Another example of the state of Victorian buildings is
represented when
Dickens describes and creates an image of the area of poverty and when he describes
the home of Bob Cratchit s his clerk and his family.
Their house was small, damp and dirty and it had to house Bob Cratchit his wife
and his six children. Scrooge paid his clerk, Bob Cratchit, a weekly salary of fifteen
shillings. Bob pocketed on Saturdays but fifteen copies of his Christian name .
However, Dickens then describes in depth, Scrooges own house which shows the
comparison between the social classes and the rich and the poor. Scrooge s house
is luxurious, and it has many expensive features compared to the poor. Sitting
room, Bed room, Lumber room, all as they should be , You might have got a
hearse up that staircase, and taken it broadwise . This shows the scale of Scrooges
house, most houses in the 19th century only had one or two rooms with one family
living on each floor. However nowadays many people would not think his house is
luxurious, people would not like to live in it, but however in Victorian

Final Paper
1: How did the development of photography alter the course of art history? What
observable changes did it make to art? How does the argument over whether
photography is art or science fit into art history during the 20th century?
The development of photography altered the course of art history in many ways, it
revolutionized artistic styles and critical thinking about the function and role of art.
Instead of trying to copy reality, which photography could do much better, artists seek
to find new ways to present their ideas, they experimented with color, lighting, mass
and form. By careful selection and alteration of visual material, the artists had the

The Postman s Comment The Context Of Our Course
My role in this essay, of course, is to experiment the Postman s comment the context
of our course. In the context, Neil Postman mentions that technology is like not an
unmixed blessing and technology first gives and then it will take away something
from us. It s well known, I would say that the technologyis like a business and it has
its own cost. For example, if you spend your money on the technology then you get
the access to use it at any time. Under such conditions, we can easily conclude that
technology is a business and always comes at a price.
What is technology? In my opinion, technology is something that we developed
by using our knowledge and skills to create useful things or to solve our practical
problems. There are many types of technology which are mechanical, information,
electronic, medical, communication and so on. We all are using these
technologies in our everyday lives. With the rise of technology, almost everyone
believes that technology only has made our lives more comfortable and the world
a better place. Clearly, we all can say that technology has a lot of benefits than the
blockages. Worst of all, it also has a dark side which does make our life more
complicated instead of easier. Of course, considering Neil Postman s commentary at
an IBM sponsored meeting, I must agree with his criticism that nobody ever seriously
speaks about the disadvantages of technology. Throughout our course material, we
have learned mostly about the computer

Switching Costs
Since there are many stores, like McDonald s and Starbucks that are also providing
all kinds of healthy smoothies with a price that is similar to Jamba Juice s, buyers
actually will not face high switching costs. Therefore, low switching costs enhance
the bargaining power of buyers.
Product is Undifferentiated
Even though Jamba Juice advertizes that its products are healthy, low in calories and
rich in vitamins, many other stores also provide the similar smoothies or fast foods.
This indicates that Jamba Juice s products are not differentiated. Consumers can still
find products in other stores that are familiar to Jamba Juice s, which enhances the
power of buyers.
Power of suppliers
For restaurant retailers, the power of suppliers is high. This can be indicated by lack
of substitute produces and low importance of restaurants as buyers.
Availability of Substitutes
Although Jamba Juice demands a large amount of agricultural commodities to help
produce the healthy and organic smoothies, these commodities are limited. There are
not other substitutes can replace these agricultural commodities to make smoothies as
healthy as the organic raw materials. Hence, this gives the suppliers the opportunities
to raise the price or decrease the quality of the agricultural commodities.
Importance of Customer to Supplier
Besides Jamba Juice, many restaurant and foodservice stores need agricultural

steer the board. Snowboarding requires good balance, so snowboarders develop
stronger core muscles. Snowboarders also tone their upper body as they use their
arms for balance. Snowboarding is an excellent aerobic workout that gets the heart
rate up and increases cardiovascular and respiratory endurance. It also burns a lot of
calories and fat. The average person can expect to burn between 250 and 630
calories per hour, depending on the difficulty of the terrain. More difficult terrain
forces your body to work harder to control the board. Snowboarding requires rapid
changes in pace and direction, and it requires you to pay attention to the terrain over
which you re traveling. As snowboarders become more aware of the terrain and
develop the ability to make quick changes in direction and pace, they experience
increased flexibility and enhanced focus and concentration. Snowboarding has
combined fun, excitement, safety, and
Compare Feudalism And Manorialism
The Feudal system was developed to bring a sense of security and economic stability
to medieval Europe as the same goes to the manor system. Although by some
definitions they appear to be very alike, but there are a lot more differentiations than
most assume. Feudalism and manorialism would have characterize most of the
European Middle Age. Feudalisminvolves the relationship between landlords and
upper the classes. And as Manorialism is the relationship between serf and landlord.
When describing a (one) lord, it refers to manorialism. When describing an entire
middle age society, it refers to the term feudalism.
Defined Feudalism and What It Was:
Feudalism was founded on the relationship between the lord and the vassal, even
though the form of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who profited from feudalism remained as part of the institution as long as they
possibly could. Feudalism is the dominant form of political organization in Medieval
Europe. It was a hierarchical system of social relationships were in a noble lord
granted land known as a fief to a free man....the land granted to each vassal was
inhabited by serfs who worked the land for him, providing him with income to
support his military endeavors; in turn, the vassal would protect the serfs from
attack and invasions. (Melissa Snell) This was one of the social systems that
developed in Europe during the eighth century. Vassals were protected by lords
who by in definition served for higher authorities. Practically, this system
developed out of the fear and terror. Feudalism provided a political structure
between the social classes in which provided for an exchange of goods, and
protection. This Medieval Europe political system is in sum, a of a set of legal
and military obligations, involving around the three key concepts (as mentioned
before) of lords, vassals, and fiefs. The Lord is a man of higher rank in a feudal
society known as a king or the owner of the territory. The Vassal is the
The Reality Of Television Entertainment
Reality T.V. is defined as a genre of television entertainment that portrays real life
situations that serves to entertain rather than inform. One of the first reality T.V.
shows to air was the Dutch, series Nummer 28, in which 7 students were put
together in one house and their everyday interactions between each other were
documented. A few years later, shows such as Survivor and Big Brother swept the
nation and the radical new idea of Reality T.V. became the next big thing. During its
infancy, Reality T.V. served only 2 purposes; to entertain and make money. As the
years went by and popularity for the genre grew, televisionstations saw the
opportunity to make an exponentially larger amount of money. In order to do this,
they had to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite all of the publicity that the controversy sparked, the viewership didn t
reach their expectations. However, at the end of the first episode they showed a
preview of the next upcoming episode in which one member of the cast was
punched in the face while drinking at one of the bar s. This caused even more
controversy, which in turn, increased the viewership of the next episode by almost
50%. This comes to show that people become exponentially more engaged in a
show when there is more fighting and just drama in general. This then poses the
question of whether or not we as a society actually approve of this behavior and
maybe even consider it an everyday reality.
America s Next Top Model (ANTM) also falls under the category of extremely
controversial shows that yet still seem to be equally as popular. The show follows
the same general format of the hit series American Idol and Americas got talent.
Many women who seek to become models compete on this show in order to claim
the title of Americas Next Top Model and jumpstart their careers in the modeling
industry. The contestants live together under the same roof similar to shows like
Jersey Shore and The Real World. The house has almost no doors so that cameras can
capture almost every moment of the lives of the contestants. Each episode, the
contestants would go through a photo shoot, and some sort of challenge. At the end
of the week the models would be

  • 2. Hiroshima Bombing Essay Hiroshima and Nagasaki Bombing The United States of America became the first and the only realm to use the atomic bomb weaponry during the war. The event happened when the nation dropped the atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima in japan. Although the nation had their intentions on dropping the weapon, it brought a lot of negative impacts both to Japan and to America. Over seventy years later the bombing impact is still very significant not only to the affected nation, but also to world history on war. Although the atomic bombing of Hiroshima brought an end to World War II, it is argued that it started a cold war between the two nations. The United States was developing atomic weapons from the year 1940 even after being warned by Albert Einstein on the research on nuclear weapons by Nazi Germany. By the time the United States tested its first atomic bombing Mexico in July 1945, Germany had already been defeated. However, the war against Japan in the pacific was increasingly becoming furious. The then American president Harry S. Truman had been warned by some of his advisers on the casualties that would befall America if they went ahead with the bombing. However, the president ordered for the use of the new weapon in an attempt to end the war. On the 6th of August 1945, a five ton bomb was dropped on Hiroshima city in japan. The very powerful blast brought down a four square miles of the city reducing it to ruins. Over 80,000 people were killed on the spot and a lot more died
  • 3. The Effect of Symbolism and Gender Roles in “The... From all areas of the world, people have been changing their forms of government in an attempt to decide on what s best for their country. Apart from most, Communism is targeted toward making all equal, and it eliminates the concept of a dictator. The contradictory fact is that the concept fails when people cannot reach an agreement themselves, and then they realize a leader is needed to make the final decisions. Of course, with greed to be on top, people do not stray from this empty position for long. As unfortunate as it is, even when people decide to become equal, someone always wants to be the king. When this thirst for power is between men and women rather than the dictator and the country, men try to be in control while women serve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is always an alpha when it comes to canines, and Steinbeck relates this to humans. Elisa s characteristics are sometimes described masculine or dog like. In some parts: Elisa... enters the story looking blocked and heavy, wearing a man s hat, heavy gloves, and a print dress... [And] she could easily be mistaken for a man (Higdon 2). This is not the way you would picture her since even critics describe her as the otherwise attractive Elisa Allen (Sullivan 5). When Elisa was talking to the tinker, she was described like a canine, especially when she [bared] her teeth : Her upper lip raised a little, showing her teeth (5). Besides Elisa being described like a dog, the tinker s mutt is like Elisa because a mutt is a dog that is mixed bred, and Elisa is described with a mix of manly and feminine characteristics (5). The mutt seems to always be ruled by the other two shepherd dogs, which shows how Elisa s life is constantly being ruled by someone else. At one point, the mongrel darts from its accustomed position beneath the tinker s wagon, the two ranch dogs shepherd it back (5). When Elisa challenged the tinker that she could do his job, the tinker shepherded her back with the words: It ain t the right kind of a life for a woman (5). Both the cur and Elisa are unable
  • 4. The Similarities Between LGBT And Muslims And The LGBT... Here today in society we get judged so harshly. People are afraid to be themselves. I think it is funny how everyone has an opinion about something or someone. What we do not take into consideration is the people s feelings or just the simple fact it is there life. I did not necessarily come out to my family as being bisexual because of how their reactions usually are when it is something they don t want to hear. So I started leaving hints to get them to understand, and once that happened my aunt started to act all judgmental and would always frown her face at me when I brought up my ex girlfriend s name. Although I am not a lesbian or a Muslim, I can relate to the feeling of being judged. The LGBTcommunity and Muslims have very similar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second similarity between the LGBT community and Muslims are hate crimes. For example Ericka Menendez pushed a Hindu man off the train tracks. The reason for that she says, I pushed a Muslim off the train tracks because I hate Hindus and Muslims ever since 2001 when they put down the twin towers I ve been beating them up (qtd.Women Is Charged With Murder as a Hate Crime in a Fatal Subway Push). I think this is the most ignorant thing I heard yet, for you to push a man off a train track because other Muslims or Hindus done something horrible doesn t mean he s just like the rest. I am not saying what the Muslims did was right but neither is being prejudice and taking matters in your hand either, that is the reason for justice. Second example is a man name Christian Howard (a gay man) who was attending the gay pride event. He was enjoying the parade and taking pictures just like any other person there, but unfortunately a group of men notice him and started saying gay insults towards him and came over and started beating on him. He fears to walk down the street and has loosen sleep over the incident (Man s beating in Detroit gay festival caught on tape). The purpose of the event is to have that one day they can enjoy but yet they still have to defend their selves against society. Given that the LGBT community and Muslims had a hard path to go through, majority of society learned to accept them. For instance multiple cities
  • 5. How Is Onomatopoeia Used In Huckleberry Finn Literary Term #6: Onomatopoeia Onomatopoeia: A word whose pronunciation is the same as the sound it represents. Example: Boom! I see the white smoke squirt out of the ferryboat s side. You see, they was firing cannon over the water, trying to make my carcass come to the top (37). Twain, Mark. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. New York: Bantam Dell, 2003.Print. Function: This use of onomatopoeia represents a significant change in the story because, at this moment in the story, Huckleberry Finn is pretending to be dead. The people of the town are using cannons to find his corpse, but will not find it because Huckleberry Finn is not actually dead. According to research done by Dr. Patel, almost half of the veterans returning home that were in active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan are coming back with invisible mental wounds that we are still attempting to understand. (Patel, 2015) Many face continuous struggles to reintegrate themselves back into society due to the conditions they are trained under. Understanding the impacts of trauma, more support for caregivers, and a hands on, positive approach to the hidden mental illnesses, society will be better prepared to help veterans transition back to civilian life. Post traumatic stress disorder is not a new concept to the military. • 8. Wicca Invocation The word invoke, as defined by Merriam Webster, means to petition for help, to call forth or summon, or to solicit through an earnest request. Its first use occurred in the 15th century. The word invoke is from Middle English envoken from the Middle French very invoquer. This originated with the Latin verb invocare, which is composed of the root vocare meaning to call , and can be found in such words as voice and vocation. This is the same as that found in the word envoke. The Latin word invocare means to call upon, or implore. When used as part of the noun invocation, the word means to petition (to God or a god) for aid or comfort , such as a prayer, but can also mean a summoning of evil spirits . I believe all of these definitions are applicable to the use of the word in Wicca. On its most basic level, invoking is calling something within yourself. When this is done, it is also a way of petitioning a deity for assistance. And while it is possible to summon evil spirits, it is the summoning of benign spirits, elements, entities and deities that form the basis for invoking within the Wiccan faith. It is calling them within yourself to work with the combined energy. In the Wiccan practice, the process of invocation is a powerful tool and is a form of voluntary possession. • 10. The As A Sense Of Wholeness Since the dawn of mankind, comprehension of mortality has been a leading concern on the agendas of a myriad of disciplines. As temporal beings, humans are given an entire lifetime to attempt to conceptualize and rationalize the idea of death, or the moment of no longer existing in the physical realm. According to Martin Heidegger, in order to discover what man is , we must grasp the essential being (Dasein) in its wholeness (Heidegger вќЎ9). Dasein s structure must be understood primordially as always being a whole. Humans spend their existence attempting to achieve this sense of wholeness or completeness, yet Heidegger argues later in Being and Timethat reaching this state of wholeness seems to gradually become more impossible to attain. Why is this? One could argue that in order to achieve a sense of wholeness in life, one must experience deathin order to complete a feeling of wholeness since with all life leads to death. But the death of Others being experienced by Dasein is not a satisfactory condition to executing the wholeness that Dasein lives for, Dasein can only be whole through experience of its own death. In this paper, I plan to use the phenomenological method to analyze Dasein s Being in the world in order to demonstrate the relationship between Dasein s futile attempt at achieving wholeness in life and the inability to reach that wholeness through the death of other Dasein and Dasein s own death in itself. Heidegger establishes early on in Being and Time

For example, once the trees are cut down it firstly causes many species of life to lose their habitats, without the covering canopy of trees it also exposes the soil. With the heavy rainfall on the soil it causes flooding and erosion. The actual climate is also disturbed because it does not allow the constant evaporation and transpiration, disrupting rainfall. I also think that Odysseus is an example of a great leader. First of all, Odysseus is a great leader because he is intelligent. A leader should be intelligent because they have to be able to figure out how to lead their people effectively. If you has a clueless leader, they might make poor choices and they could put your whole group in a bad position. • 28. Cancer And Its Effects On Cancer Cancer is a topic that many don t like to talk about because of its dark association with death. However it is important to be educated on what cancer exactly is and where it comes from. First off, there are many types of cancer that can occur in all areas of the body. The craziest fact is that all cancers start off with the mutation of just one single cell. We have millions of cells in our body and just once mutated cell can change someone s life or even end it. Many people will say this cancerruns in the family and they think that is the cause of the cancer. However that is only true for few as cancer is inherited less than 10% of the time. The majority of cancer is caused by environmental factors. The saying that comes with age is true with cancer as well because mutations will accumulate more as we age increasing the probability of being diagnosed with cancer. The way cancer cells can grow is when they aren t responsive to mitosis which is the growth and development of normal cells. This means that cancer cells will continue to grow without being checked by the body and its normal growth and division process. Cells that don t die when they actually should is a cause of cancer happening. This is a part of the beginning of cancer becoming worse with the end result of a lethal tumor. The life on a cancer in prolonged by what is called a telomerase enzyme which extends the telomeres of a chromosome making it longer and longer. A long telomere allows for many cycles of

In 2008, the average safe harbour ratio of internal debt to equity in EU countries was 3.4:1 (Ruf and Schindler, 2012). The application of TC rules is expected to limit international debt shifting and decrease the debt to asset ratio of domestic affiliates of multinationals. However, these benefits come at a cost of reduction in domestic investment, because TC rules increase the domestic cost of capital and negatively affect a country s position in competing internationally for mobile capital. It implies that the decrease in debt to asset ratio will increase the tР°x revenue, but the reduced investment will eventually have a negative effect on the tР°x revenue (Ruff and Schindler, 2012). 5.1.2. Controlled Foreign Company Rules A potential alternative is CFC rules mentioned by Ruf and Schindler (2012). The rules prevent the application of the tР°x exemption rule as passive income is immediately being included in the corporate tР°x base of the multinational s headquarters if the income is generated from non productive activities and the multinational has an ownership of at least 50 percent. Another example of the state of Victorian buildings is represented when Dickens describes and creates an image of the area of poverty and when he describes the home of Bob Cratchit s his clerk and his family. Their house was small, damp and dirty and it had to house Bob Cratchit his wife and his six children. Scrooge paid his clerk, Bob Cratchit, a weekly salary of fifteen shillings. In the context, Neil Postman mentions that technology is like not an unmixed blessing and technology first gives and then it will take away something from us. It s well known, I would say that the technologyis like a business and it has its own cost. For example, if you spend your money on the technology then you get the access to use it at any time. Under such conditions, we can easily conclude that technology is a business and always comes at a price. What is technology? In my opinion, technology is something that we developed by using our knowledge and skills to create useful things or to solve our practical problems. There are many types of technology which are mechanical, information, electronic, medical, communication and so on. We all are using these technologies in our everyday lives. With the rise of technology, almost everyone believes that technology only has made our lives more comfortable and the world a better place. Clearly, we all can say that technology has a lot of benefits than the blockages. Worst of all, it also has a dark side which does make our life more complicated instead of easier. Of course, considering Neil Postman s commentary at an IBM sponsored meeting, I must agree with his criticism that nobody ever seriously speaks about the disadvantages of technology. Throughout our course material, we have learned mostly about the computer
