Essay On Globalization
Writing an essay on the topic of globalization can be both challenging and intellectually
stimulating. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of globalization itself. It
encompasses a wide array of interconnected issues, including economic, political, cultural, and
social aspects.
Firstly, addressing the economic dimension of globalization requires a thorough understanding of
global trade, finance, and the intricate web of international economic relations. Exploring the
impacts on different nations, industries, and individuals necessitates in-depth research and
analysis.
On the political front, one must delve into the dynamics of global governance structures,
examining the roles played by international organizations, treaties, and diplomatic relationships.
Understanding the power dynamics between nations in a globalized world adds another layer of
intricacy.
Cultural globalization poses its own set of challenges, as it involves studying the diffusion of
ideas, values, and cultural practices across borders. Analyzing the impact of globalization on
cultural diversity requires a nuanced perspective, taking into account both the homogenizing and
diversifying forces at play.
Moreover, the social implications of globalization demand attention to issues such as inequality,
migration, and the influence of global trends on local communities. Examining how globalization
affects societies at various levels necessitates a comprehensive examination of societal structures
and dynamics.
In the process of crafting an essay on globalization, one must synthesize information from
diverse sources, critically evaluate arguments, and present a cohesive and well-supported
perspective. Balancing the macro and micro aspects of the topic adds an additional layer of
difficulty.
In conclusion, composing an essay on globalization is no simple task. It requires a deep dive into
the complexities of economics, politics, culture, and society on a global scale. Navigating
through these intricate layers demands time, effort, and a keen analytical mind.
If you find yourself struggling with such a task, there are resources available to assist you.

The Main Concepts Of The Philosophy Of Liberalism
What is Liberalism?
INTRODUCTION
The term liberalism has a variety of meanings nowadays. Freedom or liberty for
each and every individual is the main aim of the philosophy of liberalism. Freedom
had different concepts in different periods of time in the history and therefore the
programs of liberalism were also different in those time periods. However the main
aim always remained the same. Liberalism not only believed in human nature was
good but it also believed that humans were rational. It supposes that, as people have a
logical intellect, they have the ability to identify different challenges and problems
and solve them. This will thus improve the human condition systematically.
Conservatism, on the other hand, is the opposite doctrine ... Show more content on

But then people started to believe in reason and rationality. People started to think.
Up until then those who were powerful used to rule. There was the hereditary
aristocracy. But then the people started to realize that this system should be changed.
And hence the old traditions were questions, the governments were challenged. This
intellectual progress to enlightenment led to powerful revolutionary movements.
These movements were successful to put an end to the powerful regimes of the time
many parts of the world like Europe, Latin America and North America. Then after
that came the French revolution which also successfully put an end to the hereditary
aristocracy. These revolutions and movement led to many later
Comparing Gone Girl And Daddy
In Gone Girl and Daddy , both authors explore the idea that one can never truly be
free, and that even once freedom is believed to be gained; one is still not
completely free. Although the idea in Plath and Fincher s texts are similar, there
are some clear differences in their portrayal. While Fincher creates his film with a
cyclic nature to illustrate how Nick is unable to be free from his relationship, Plath
uses holocaust allusion to emphasise how the speaker of her poem Daddy felt
trapped by her father s looming figure, just as the Jews were by Hitler. Fincher
begins his film with Nick stroking his wife s (Amy) hair, and questioning what she is
thinking, and concludes the film in the same way, even after Nick s constant struggle
throughout the film to escape the failing marriage; alluding to Nick s inability to
escape. Plath s reference to her father as a panzer man with his Aryan looks and his
Luftwaffe brutality forces the reader to understand the extent in which she is
trapped by her father, consequently minimising the shock when the speaker of Plath
s poem uses mythical imagery to refer to the model of [her father] that she married
in an attempt to be from the restraints of her father. Plath s use of mythical imagery
to illustrate her partner is used in a similar way to how Fincher used [metatext
/intertextuality/text within a text??] to portray Nick s inability to escape from his
marriage to Amy. After the speaker in Plath s poem Daddy escapes her father, she
is still unable to be free from him, as she ends up creating a substitute for him by
marrying a man who drank [her] blood for a year , the vampire allusion a metaphor
for him draining her life and her freedom, in the way a vampire would literally
drain the blood of their victim. This inability to escape due to marriage is also
strongly reflected in Fincher s Gone Girl . Unlike Plath, Fincher employs the use
of a [text within a text?] to portray how the protagonist, Nick, is unable to be free
from his relationship with Amy. Amazing Amy Gets Married is a children s book
that is written by Amy s parents, which results in pressure being placed on Nick to
quickly marry her, so that Amazing Amy is no longer one step ahead from the
The Jungle And Fast Food Nation Rhetorical Analysis
Relevant literature usually addresses real life situations, bringing light to serious
issues. Most of the time, an author will write in hopes to influence others to believe a
certain way. Authors must strategize to master the art of persuasion. There are
multiple appeals a writer may use in order to get their point across to the audience.
The Jungleand Fast Food Nation use ethos, pathos, and logos in efforts to gain
support towards their purpose of improving the work conditions and quality of life
for immigrants. In order to convince an audience through an ethical appeal, a writer
would use ethos. Ethos places an emphasis on the credibility of the source. In The
Jungle Upton Sinclairwrites, In the beginning he had been fresh and strong, and he
had gotten a job the first day, but now he was second hand, a damaged article...
(Sinclair 90). Jurgis, Sinclair s character, goes from adoring capitalism to despising
it. Since he proves to be open minded, his feelings seem less biased. Once the reader
observes the vicious cycle Jurgis endures, it becomes difficult to make an argument
against him. In Fast Food Nation Schlosser states, We are human beings, more than
one person told me, but they treat us like animals (Schlosser 169). Instead of just
using a single source, Schlosser uses numerous. The fact that the author is collecting
stories from several different people makes the account more believable. When an
author is pulling at the heartstrings of the

Compare And Contrast The Kngiht And The Squire Essay
Geoffrey Chaucer portrayed a cross section of medieval society though The
Canterbury Tales. quot; The Prologue quot; or foreword of this work serves as an
introduction to each of the thirty one characters involved in the tales. Two of these
characters are the Kght and the Squire, who share a father and son relation. These
individuals depart on a religious pilgrimage to a cathedral in Canterbury. The Squire,
opposed to the Knight, goes for a vacation instead of religious purposes. His intent is
not as genuinand pure as his father s.
Though the Knight and the Squire are from the same feudal class and vocation, they
differ in the fact that the Knight represents how society should have been; and the
Squire depicts an accurate portrayal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Squire is an extremely vain individual, taking pains to improve his appearance.
His superfluous appareis clean and bright and his hair has quot;locks as curly as if
they had been pressed quot;(120). This greed for wealth and beauty definitely does
not abide by the code of chivalry and is unnecessary for his knighthood. The Knight,
more concerned with gallantrynever partakes in such nonsense. He is by far the most
chivalrous and heroic. The Knight s motivation is based on chivalry and religion,
contrasting to the Squire who merely wants to impress the ladies.
The Squire wastes time and energy that could be channeled more towards his
knightly duties. The real motivation of the Squires not based on chivalry, rather it is
the appearance of chivalry he wishes to display. Chaucer stated that the Knight,
quot;from the day on which he first began / To ride abroad, had followed chivalry
quot;(119). The Knight is utterly sincere and whole heartedn his pursuits.
Unfortunately, the reasons for becoming a cavalier are self seeking and egotistical in
the Squire s case opposed to the selfless Knight.Despite the fact that the Knight and
the Squire share the same class and occupation, the Knight represents the perfect
society while the Squire portrays the society of that

Separation Of Methylene Chloride And Hydrochloric Acid
The process of extraction removes a desired compound from a mixture. Because
molecules with similar intermolecular forces are more soluble in one another, organic
compounds are usually dissolved in organic solvents. Based on the solubility
differences of the organic solution and water, when mixed, two distinct layers form.
Sometimes, small amounts of the solventmay dissolve in water. To prevent
contamination of the product, a drying agent is added to absorb the water molecule.
The organic solvent is evaporated from the organic compound through the use of a
rotary evaporator. It is a quick process that reduces the pressure and thus the boiling
point of a liquid. In this experiment, eugenol was separated from mixtures containing
methylene chloride and hexane. If was predicted that methylene chloride would be
the most effective solvents due to its immiscibility to water and low boiling point.
Procedure
First, 0.210 g of eugenol, deionized water and methylene chloride were poured into
a separatory funnel. The funnel was shaken and vented 2 3 times. It was placed onto
a ring clamp until two layers formed. Then, the top and bottom layers were slowly
filtered out into two different beakers. Next, MgSo4 was added to the top layer
solution until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for the two layers to form, the solvent had to be immiscible in H2O. Based on
their chemical structures, acetone, ethanol, and ethyl acetate are polar molecules This
makes them miscible in water. Methylene Chloride is polar, but does not form
Hydrogen bonds with H2O. Hexane is nonpolar (Figure 1). Therefore, these two
solvents are immiscible in water. At the end of the experiment, the solvent would be
evaporated from the solution. Thus, a solvent with a low boiling point was more
desirable. The two solvents selected were methylene chloride and hexane with
boiling points of respectively 36.9 C and 68 C (Table

5.1 INTRODUCTION FIELD OF STUDY
A photographer is a professional that focuses on the art of taking photographs with a

Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Herman Melville
In short, Herman Melville s story Bartleby, the scrivener , tells the tale of a
successful lawyer hiring a new copyist and the challenges he faced with his new
hire. Initially, the new hire, Bartleby, was extremely driven and very efficient. He
had a great work ethic, and had an extraordinary output of writing for the head
lawyer. On the third day Bartlebystunned his boss by preferring not to comply with
his boss s request. Bartleby s refusal to comply was at first directed at anything
outside of his copyistresponsibilities, but gradually shifted toward refusing to do
anything including his responsibilities as a copyist. Upon further analysis into
Bartleby s descent from a productive scrivener, to utterly useless in the office. I have
found a connection between the people that isolate others because of differences,
and the people that choose to stray away from normal behavior . This impacts the
isolated person, people are negatively impacted when they live in isolation and have
little personal and emotional connection with others. Without any emotional
connection or contact with others, humans lose their purpose in life, or become
useless like in Bartleby in the office. Refusing to do any work did not deter
Bartleby from the office. In fact, he used the office for everything in his life such as
sleep, shaving, eating and spending all of his time. Bartleby lived in the office in
complete isolation from anyone else in the world besides his coworkers. With

Tension In Lord Of The Flies
What do you think you would do if you were stranded on an island with a bunch of
strangers? How would you react and what would be your first instinct? Well in the
novel The Lord of the Flies by William Golding we follow a group of young British
boys whose plane crashes and who have to figure out how to survive without any
adults. They have to figure out how to work together not only to be rescued but
also to survive. There is a lot of tension that grows between the boys and eventually
reaches a point where it explodes. The two main characters Ralph and Jack are polar
opposites whose ideas are constantly clashing. Jack is an egotistical boy who is
obsessed with complete power. Jack is angry that the group of boys voted Ralph to

He is finally the chief of his own tribe and feels like there is not much else he needs
to do to have complete power. Before the party had started a great log had been
dragged into the center of the lawn and Jack, painted and garlanded, sat there like
an idol. There were piles of meat on green leaves near him, and fruit, and coconut
shells full of drink. At this point in time Jack feels like he s on the top of the world.
He finally feels like he s getting the respect that he deserves and is making sure
that others know that they should be respecting him. Jack also feels like Ralph
doesn t deserve to be chief. Hew still feels like he is competing with Ralph.
Suddenly Jack bounded out from the tribe and began screaming wildly. See! See!
That s what you ll get! I meant that! There isn t a tribe for you anymore! The conch

make sure of this by killing Ralph. He thinks that Ralph deserved everything that he
got because he took away him being able to be chief because Ralph had the conch.
Right now Jack is probably at the top of the hierarchy of needs because he basically
has everything that he needed to be on time. His universe of obligation is pretty
small since he is so focused on

The early 1900s included a social trend building in the public view toward prohibition
of alcohol that manifested itself in the form of the temperance movement.5 This
movement was led greatly by the Anti Saloon League and the Women s Christian

had been left behind from the social causes of the progressive union.2 Many women
advocated throughout the use of science that alcohol was bad for health , and that it

What Causes Joint Pain
Joint pain and other musculoskeletal conditions are the most prevalent causes of
chronic pain worldwide, affecting over 50 million people in the USA alone. The most
common form of joint pain is Arthritis which is a disease that causes pain, swelling
and restricted movement in joints. There are various types of arthritis such as
Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritisand Gout.
Arthritis (along with other rheumatic conditions) has been the leading cause of
disability among US adults for the past 15 years. According to Dr Vijay Vad, (Dr
Vijay Vad, 2009), arthritis is one of the oldest and most chronic diseases in the world.
The origins of rheumatic conditions such as arthritis date back to ancient times.

However there are various treatments (both conventional to mainstream medicine, and
alternate treatments) for RA. The most important thing is to begin treatment early,
before the joints undergo permanent damage. The most important and successful
treatment is that of starting treatment with DMARDs (disease modifying ant
rheumatic drugs) that not only relieve the symptoms of RA, but also slow down
the progression of the disease itself. Anti inflammatory drugs have also proven to be
successful in managing symptoms of RA. (Eric Ruderman, 2013).. Physical and
occupational therapy as well as low impact exercise also have beneficial effects on
the symptoms of RA due to them strengthening the joint and improving mobility. For
severe RA that cannot be helped by other treatments, surgery has proven to be
beneficial as well. There are also a number of alternative treatments for RA.
According to The Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Network (RASN), Organic turmeric
is very successful in terms of its benefits to relieving symptoms of RA. This is due to
the fact that it is a natural antioxidant and anti inflammatory agent that also has bone
protective properties (a study by the US National Institute of Health in 2012 on rats
has proved this) (Kamarudin TA,

However when Derek is unable to retrieve the vehicle, the music begins to churn out
and the deep sound produced by the bass begins to get louder and louder in a
rhythmic way. The purpose of this was to show Derek s thoughts and how they got
darker just like the music in the background. The deep sound of the bass gives the
audience a feeling of fear as it sounds very dark and evil. This inturn makes the
audience anticipate that something bad is going to happen. As Derek clutches one
of the criminals in anger, the bass is played in a different rhythm but still with a
deep and dynamic churn. The rhythm changes and the music becomes more slow
paced but the brass instruments can still be heard significantly churning in the
background. When Derek places the criminal s mouth on the curb, the music with
the utilization of the string and brass family becomes even more deeper and colder.
The diegetic sound of the criminal s teeth slicing the surface of the curb can also be
heard as the music builds up strongly in the background. This effect makes the
audience very agitated and anxious as it allows them to predict what is going to

A Critical Incident At University
During this essay I will be reflecting on critical incidents and their impact in order
to develop as a healthcare professional. Using the Gibbs cycle I will describe the
situation, how it made me feel, analyse what happened, evaluate the incident,
before finally concluding and devising an action plan for the future (Jasper, 2015).
I hope by reflecting on these incidents and my strengths and weaknesses it will
support my goal of becoming a holistic healthcare professional. The first critical
incident at university happened during semester one. I decided to submit my
assignment at the end of the day as I wanted to review it before final submission.
At 1pm I went to library to submit my work and was shocked to see the turnitin
software wouldn t let me submit. As I investigated further, I realised that the
deadline was at 12pm. I immediately ran to my personal tutor and assessor s office
to ask for advice and forgiveness. Sadly, it had to be handed in as a late
submission. I was really upset, but my personal tutor told me to calm down as
there was nothing that could be done now. I had previously had some feedback one
month prior to the deadline and felt rather foolish as I had finished the leaflet
approximately 2 weeks prior to the incident. It was a real disappointing,
embarrassing moment, which made me feel down on the last day of term. It took
me a few days to get over it. I assumed the deadline was at 5pm, as was case in my
previous college but agreed with the module
Analysis Of Poem Digging And Blackberry Picking By...
Ishrat Chowdhury
IB English 4
Ms. Rowe
15 January, 2016
Two of the poems written by Seamus Heaney, Digging and Blackberry Picking ,
contain recurring themes while both discussing entirely different scenes. The first
poem, Digging , talks about Heaney s memories of hearing his father digging in
the potato garden outside the house. The second poem, Blackberry Picking ,
carries a similar solemn tone, while describing another memory of Heaney s of his
experience with picking blackberries. These poems by Heaney share similar themes
of reflection of his past experiences in which he dissects important life lessons from
everyday events such as the passage of time and the uncertainty of life. Imagery is a
common form of technique used in poetry in which the author uses visualization to
demonstrate a vivid scene for the readers. In the poem, Digging , he discusses his
father s aging figure and recreates the feeling of the passage of time by mentioning
his grandfather digging in a similar fashion. When Heaney says, Till his straining
rump among the flowerbeds; Bends low, comes up twenty years away , he is most
likely referring to a past memory of his father, indicating he has passed away
twenty years ago. Heaney vividly remembers his father digging, and compares his
father s digging to his own penmanship when he says at the beginning of the poem,
Between my finger and my thumb/ The squat pen rests; snug as a gun. , and at the
end of the poem when he says, Between my

The Psalm is written to thank the Lord for all that he does Even when I walk through

immense gratitude for the blessings that have been bestowed on him (Bullock, 2004).

Research Paper On Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering What exactly is mechanical engineering? This is a question
many people ask themselves, but the question they should be asking themselves is
how important is mechanical engineering to the community? Mechanical engineering
is a step to create a better future. In the field of mechanical engineering, machines are
built to facilitate and improve transportation, manufacturing, and various things we
use in our daily lives. In order to become a mechanical engineer, you first have to
know the background and requirements for being a mechanical engineer. Mechanical
engineeringis a part of engineering that involves the design, installation,
manufacturing, and maintenance of machines. Mechanical engineers study physics
to create new and advanced machines that will be helpful for us. Some examples of
the machines that mechanical engineers work on are electric generators, steam
turbines, industrial production equipment, and machine tools. Many devices of
mechanical engineering increase noise and pollution so... Show more content on

The first one is the dealing and understanding of mechanical science which includes
dealing with physical science and the relations with heat, energy, and power. The
second one is the process of research, development, and design. The third one is the
production of products and power which includes planning, maintenance, and
operation. The fourth one is the coordinating job of the mechanical engineer
including management, negotiation, and commerce. An engineer is called to
ponder and think out every possible approach to a given problem (Reyes Guerra 6).
A mechanical engineer needs to do all of these thing in order to work in this field.
To be an engineer, a person must be inquisitive and a problem solver that uses logic
and imagination. An engineer must be able to get along with other people and make
relationships. Engineers must think outside the box in order to solve complex

What real life problem did it solve?
The Beanbag Project
This experiment is quite original as many people just use bean bags without even
thinking about how many beans are used inside of them. I haven t heard of any other
experiments testing the same thing, so to me I think that this experiment is unique.
This experiment doesn t seem very difficult to solve, as the main thing that you have
to do is test other people s thoughts. The resource which would be needed would be
beanbags with different amount of beans in them, which may have been difficult cost

This means that Sam s experiment is original as it most likely hasn t been done
before where someone has come up with a different conclusion.
This experiment may have been difficult to solve if the person conducting the
experiment didn t either have chickens at their house or have access to someone
else s backyard chickens. He would also have to take into consideration that the
experiment might not be a fair test as some of the chickens may be fed more, making
their eggs bigger.
A real life problem is the weight of chicken eggs, and how some are very light and
some are quite heavy in comparison. This could also solve the problem of knowing
when chickens will lay eggs which weigh a different amount. This could also lead
someone on to conduct an experiment which shows the type of food which chickens
eat to make their eggs lose less weight. It would mean that the owners of the
chickens could know when to stop eating their eggs and just enjoy them as their pets,
or could label their eggs either light or heavy.

Pulp Fiction Comparative Essay
The way in which gangster figures are portrayed with consideration to gender roles
and ethnicity within each film will be analysed. The Godfather , Pulp Fiction and
Scarface are being explored because they are three movies known for being
inspirational in establishing the gangster genre conventions at various points in film
history. Scarface was highly influential within this genre and when it was released
there was not the same censorship as there is in the 21st century. The representation
of gangster figures has been a controversial topic throughout the 20th and 21st
century and Dr Fran Mason argued that The gangster film has...been considered to be

Similarly to Scarface and The Godfather , violence and crime are key themes in the
films and therefore the male characters dominate the violent scenes and radiate
willpower. Mia Wallace, the wife of the gangster Marsellus Wallace is portrayed as
powerful and seductive. At first, it appears that she is stable within her
relationship with Wallace, and is additionally feared by other individuals such as
Vincent, when he arrives at her house to escort her for a night out. However, later
on Mia mistakes heroin for cocaine and manages to overdose, which results in her
relying on the man in her life because she is so weak. Even so, in the promotional
poster of Pulp Fiction , Uma Thurman (Mia), is shown posing on a bed with a
cigarette in one hand and a gun in front of her. This in many ways signifies power
as the gun has become a key piece of iconography in the gangster genre, and guns
hold a lot of power in them as they have the ability, with help, to kill or cause
serious bodily harm. Nevertheless, this is misleading as the women, specifically
Mia Wallace, do not actually hold any power in the film. Mia Wallace s character is a

An Example Of Diffusion Of The Plasma Membrane
I.Introduction There s not much that comes to mind when it s time for that first cup
of coffee in the morning except hoping that it s strong enough to stimulate the mind
for the time being. This real life scenario is an example of diffusion. Simple right?
When cream is poured into coffee it remains heavily concentrated in the area it was
poured at and eventually spreads throughout it. The more the coffee is stirred the
quicker the cream spreads even more. Sugar would do the same thing as well. This is
an example of how the interstitial fluids work within the bodies of humans.
Interstitial fluids that enclose in on a cell would be the cell membraneor the plasma
membrane s doing. It creates a barrier between the internal fluids and the exterior
environment. When the body moves, the diffusing of the molecules within it
accelerates. The plasma membrane is made up of many substances, like salts,
vitamins, nutrients, waste products, etc... The plasma membrane dictates what
enters and makes sure it s sufficient. It blocks out the other substances that isn t
needed. Also it happens to be selectively permeable. This means either the
molecules progress on without a hassle or there may be a little difficulty to
progress on. Materials traverse through the membrane by two methods, which are
called passive process and active process. In this lab passive process is part of the
main focus. Energy from the cell isn t a necessity when it comes to passive process.

Computers and Society
The early computer development began in the late 60 s, at that time their common
use was for complex mathematical calculations, and were mostly used by
government corporations. As time went on computers became widely popular, and
they were being used at a personal level. The Apple Lisa Computer was the first
successful personal computerwith a GUI interface which was introduced in 1983.
Nowadays computers have become extremely popular, and they are being used
almost everywhere. We are becoming overwhelmingly dependent on computer
technology which is causing a negative impact on the human society because of the
following reasons, lack of social confidence, privacy threat and health problems.

to chronic pain when maintained over long periods of work .In fact, it appears that

Autism And Episodic Memory
Recall of Semantic and Episodic Memory: Autism Autism is a neurodevelopmental
disorder that leads to a deficiency in social communication. This deficit in
communication is associated with abnormalities in brain regions. It is assumed that
because people with autism have difficulty establishing social relationships that they
would have difficulty recalling emotionally salient memories, This erroneous belief is
further strengthened by the phenomenon where children with autismhave flawless
recall when it comes to remembering information about a topic they are interested in
(i.e. trains, cars, etc.). However, current research indicates that people diagnosed with
Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) may have abnormalities in the hippocampal,

The literature surrounding metamemory, a subjects awareness of their own memory
performance and how they use their knowledge to contribute to their learning is
vitally important to the understanding of the intricacies of ASD (Wojcik et al, 2012).
Wojcik et al s (2012) research has determined that when children with autism were
exposed to the feeling of knowing task that the majority of people with autism
accurately recognized the feeling of knowing for semantic stimuli, but did not
perform well when asked to recall episodic information (Wojcik et al, 2012). Through
this analysis Wojcik et al (2012) determined that children with autism did not suffer
from generalized deficits in metamemory, the results show that the metamemory in
episodic memory is only memory system impaired. Like previous studies Wojcik et al
(2012) have strengthened the idea that people with autism have difficulty
remembering factual information, not emotionally driven information. Southwick et
al (2011) studied how non verbal individuals with ASD recall certain stimuli, where
they found no significant differences in the retention and recall of information
pertaining to the stimuli between their autistic population and the control group.
However, Southwick et al (2011) did find that there was a difference in retention and
recall between autistic individuals who had high verbal IQ vs. low verbal IQ. The
results of the findings indicate that normal controls and ASD individuals do not
exhibit significant differences in memory retention and recall. Southwick et al (2011)
did find that the verbal ability of ASD individuals did affect the amount of
information that was retained and successfully
Skeptecism of History and Science
A skeptic is defined in two different ways, a skeptic could be considered as a person
who question the validity and raise doubts to all accepted opinions or accepted
conclusion; a skeptic could also be a philosopher who denies the possibility of
knowledge, or even rational belief, in some sphere. When knowledge is primarily
presented by an abundance of assumption is brought up. Generally, a skeptic often is
required to proceed a thorough evaluation of the assumption or hypothesis presented
in order to provide factual clarity. What may seem correct has the potential to be
completely faulty when another evidence clashes with the primary idea. The two
areas of knowledge that requires to an individual to thoroughly evaluate, question
their claim, ask for clarity, consistency in logic and adequacy of evidence is history
and science. When analyzing a historical event, ideally information is required to be
traced back in both quantitative and qualitative variables. History could be easily
manipulated, misinterpret and biased. For a particular historical event, many claims
could be laid out with certain amount of evidence. For example, many historians
claim that the Holocaust did not happen and the conspiracy theory that America did
not plan on the moon. The reality that anyone is able to propose various theories that
contradicts what may seem as facts to others proves that there are multiple
perspective that needs critical analysis. Historians evaluates the evidence proposed,

The Achievement Gap And Academic Growth
The achievement gap in students traditionally is determined through test scores or
other measurements that are defined through some sort of measurable academic
achievement. Educators hammer down test taking strategies to students in
preparation for end of course stage mandated assessment that when it is all said and
done the students are tired of the test before it is even administered. Student
achievement should be measured based on student growth and academic growth
should not be the only thing educators should emphasize during the school year.
Students need to character growth is a way to decrease the achievement gap and if
the student improves their character then the achievement gap will be decreased
through building students up from the inside out.
If we are trying to decrease the achievement gap for diverse learners it has to be
done in a way that is not singling students from diverse backgrounds as defined by
society today. We have to understand that all schools are truly diverse because all
students and families are unique and instead of creating lessons and programs for
members of the school community that are considered diverse by today s societal
norms, we should have lessons that embrace what all people have in common.
Lessons and programs need to be constructed with the understanding that people are
at different places in terms of becoming ready to accept the true diversity of our
world. Through the Hollister High School Character Education Program,

The Ads we see everyday are filled with manipulative words and fallacies, yet most
people do not take the time to pay close attention to what they are reading. This is
why the ads are made this way because to most people what they see will just fly

the company Covergirl. Covergirl is a company that has ads all over in magazines
and on T.V. Their ads feature the edgy use of gender

Covergirl ads that we are talking about are for mascara and lipstick. Both of the
ads are a close up pictures of women who are normally looking away from the
camera. These women will have their hand over their mouth or their mouth open
most of the time. The backgrounds of the ads will match the color of the makeup
that they are selling, these colors used are bright. Models in the ads are very plastic
looking, their faces are a little blurry and unfocused so pores are virtually invisible.
The models are also very skinny, so skinny that they seem unhealthy. Around the
pictures there are sentences telling you about the make up normally including the
words New and improved , stating that this New makeup is better than their old
product. Just like other makeup companies, Covergirl pushes the idea that to be

Competitive Strategy Sonic should endeavor to use Porter s generic competitive
strategy of differentiation as its overall strategy. Versatility and ease of use are
what Sonic will provide to the consumer. Our secondary strategy should be focus,
we will key in on a few different market segments which we feel are high profile
markets and deserving of attention. Sonic s pricing could be our greatest asset.
According to Levitt, in his article, Marketing Myopia, Henry Ford had a strategy
which included mass production, but that first and foremost one must never place
the profit lure from this production above thinking about your customer. Henry
Ford worked from the idea that he could produce his invention, the car for $500,
and therefore because it was priced reasonably could expect to sell millions of cars.
His focus was not on mass production, but what the consumer could afford to pay
for his product, and then he worked to produce it for that amount. (Levitt, 2004, p.
144). This probably would be a wise decision for Sonic, especially during this
unstable economy we are facing.

Cognitive Dissonance Theory
How do you make it go away? You don t like the way you are feeling, something in
your gut is nagging at you with an overwhelming cloud of uneasiness. Suddenly, it
dawns on you that this uncomfortable sensation is the direct result of a decision you
ve recently made. Unaligned with your beliefs and morals, that decision has left you
internally conflicted. Your mindraces for avenues to ease your suffering. What will
you do next? This is the same scenario that Margaret Langston is battling in season
two from the television series Resurrection. As a well respected woman in the
community, Margaret has agreed to assist the neighborhood mob in the prevention of
a child being born in their town. As events unfold and the plot thickens Margaret
attempts various methods to evade the distress of cognitive dissonance. Cognitive
dissonance refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs, or behaviors.
This produces a feeling of discomfort leading to an alteration in one of the attitudes,
beliefs or behaviors to reduce the discomfort and restore balance (McLeod, 2014,
Introduction). As a reaction to emotional discomfort, our human nature seeks to
restore equilibrium producing a consonant relationship that dissolves the negative
emotional state of cognitive dissonance.

Communication Is A Basic Tool For Humans Essay
Communication is a basic tool for humans as it allows the relationship with the
environment, with which it is inherent in the human condition because human beings
need to establish and maintain relationships that provide gratification and collect
information that to identify needs for welfare. The task of communicating has
always existed. As humans we interact with our environment, continuously we emit
messages (verbal or non verbal), to the world around us. From nursing to establish a
correct support relationship with patients, we must learn to communicate. For this
we need to acquire a range of abilities and skills that will ensure the wellbeing of
the patient in a holistic aspect (bio psycho social) such as empathy and active
listening based on respect. In short, knowing what to say, how to say and what to do
in any situation in which, it is not detrimental to the physical or social individual, but
it is in psychological. Similarly we act as transmitters to broadcast a message, when
we interact with our patients, in turn, act as receptors in the process of
communicating, so, we must know how to listen, be assertive, empathetic, and non
judgmental, base ourselves on respect, use the feedback ... and ultimately, be
authentic, defining authenticity. Considering the person as a holistic being (bio

Olympic Games And Its Impact On Society
Sports have played a major role in society for as far back as dated history goes.
Today s greatest sporting events capture the interest of billions of people. No one
sporting event is greater than the Summer Olympic games, for it brings together
athletes from all across the globe to compete and represent their respected nations.
Winning an Olympic gold medal can create a widespread feeling of patriotism and

catastrophic disaster. Consequently, the following will reveal the 1972 Munich
Summer Olympic Gamestragedy and the ramifications of its build up, the event, and
the lasting effects on society.
The events that occurred at the 1972 Olympics were the result of a long conflict
between Palestinian Arabs and Israeli Jews dating to the end of the nineteenth
century. The two nations have contrasting religious beliefs and conflict broke out
between them for who had the ownership of a strip of land that both states
considered to be holy. From the end of World War I until 1948, the area that both
groups claimed was known internationally as Palestine. Following the war of 1948
1949, this land was divided into three parts: The State of Israel, the West Bank (of the
Jordan River) and the Gaza Strip. It is a small area approximately 10,000 square
miles, or about the size of the state of Maryland. Both nations cited historical

The Importance Of Pungent Plants
I have always been a chili pepper aficionado who enjoyed the pungency, meaning
spiciness, of peppers. So I decided to learn about how to grow chili peppers in my
garden. While researching chili pepper growth, I saw that pungent plants had 40%
greater density of stomata than non pungent plants. Stomata are pores that allow
water and air to enter and exit the plant s cells. So pungent plants experience greater
water loss than non pungent plants do. Pungent plants have more stomata than non
pungent plants because the proteins involved in pungency and building stomata are
regulated by the same pathway. (CSMonitor) I became curious on how the amount of
water a pungent chili pepperhas affects it.
Water, a fundamental component of life, allows all living beings to exist. Plants are
no exception. Plants utilize water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and sunlight to undergo the
process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the method plants use to create food.
During photosynthesis, plants use six molecules of water, six molecules of CO2,
and sunlight to produce one molecule of sugar and six molecules of oxygen. This
reaction, modeled by the equation 6CO2 + 6H2O + sunlight в†’ C6H12O6 + 6O2,
demonstrates the essentialness of water in the survival of plants. Water is a crucial
component of photosynthesis because it permits plants to produce food that they
need to sustain themselves. Food gives plants the energy to perform many functions,
such as reproduction and the production of chemicals.

The Cluny Abbey is a former Benedictine monastery located in France. The abbey is
dedicated to St. Peter. The abbey was built in the Romanesque style with three
churches built from the 4th century to the 12th century. The basilica was one of the
largest until St. Peter s Basilica was constructed in Rome.
The History of the Cluny Abbey
Cluny Abbey was founded in 910 by the Duke of Aquitaine, William I. The first
Abbot of the monastery was a man named Berno, who subjected himself only to Pope
Sergius III. The abbey was prided on its stricter adherence to rules and is noted as
one of the leaders of western monasticism. William I stipulated that this monastery be
free from any type of authority save for the Pope himself, and even ... Show more

This is significant because most patrons would retain some type of proprietary
interest or use their patronage to instill their family as abbots. While this was a
common practice, William I chose to free the monastery of any type of entanglements.
In the 11th century the Benedictine Order established itself providing stability for
society. During the French Revolution in 1790, the abbey was seized and most of it
destroyed. Today only one of the original eight towers are left.
The Influence of the Cluny Abbey
The Cluny is home to an impressive biblical library and is regarded as one of the
most important libraries in Europe. The library has survived many disputes, including
the sacking by the Huguenots, and the destruction brought on by the French
Revolution. The Cluny was surrounded by a thriving community and the Cluny was
independent of expectation and could hire any monk they chose.
One of the biggest influences of the Cluny Abbey is the number of Cluny monks that
were chosen by their peers to become the next Pope. Their names were:

The United States has Changed from a Melting Pot to a Vast Culture with Varying
Racial Backgrounds The United States, created by blending or melting many cultures
together into one common man, known as an American. Modern communication and
transportation accelerate mass migrations from one continent . . . to the United States
(Schlesinger 21). Ethnic and racial diversity was bound to happen in the American
society. As immigration began to explode, . . . a cult of ethnicity erupted both
between non Anglo whites and among nonwhite minorities. (22). Until recently, the
only country who has made a multiethnic society work, was the United States. Hector
St. John de Crevecoeur said, in America individuals of all nations are melted... Show

The increasing accommodations directed toward immigrant culture worries many
Americans. Americans fear the special treatment granted to immigrants will affect
the unifying force of the country. Today, the trend is toward multiculturalism,
diversity and adapting the newcomer, rather than on the newcomer adapting
himself or herself to a diverse society (61). Many Americans believe the nation has
lost control of its boundaries. Concerned if immigration continues, the U.S.
economy will suffer, and that employment will be scarce. Immigrants are flooding
the welfare rolls and are heavily involved in crime. (Morganthau 18). The increase
number of U.S. immigrants does affect the number of jobs available. The problem
is, immigrants are either highly qualified (take American jobs) or are less than
skilled in any field (increase welfare). The view on immigration today is one of a
drag on the economy, instead of a lift (18). In 1995, new immigration laws
transfigure the American society. As a result, races group together to defend their
customs. The current immigration problem also increases the racial tension facing
America today. One result of racism in the United States is hate groups and gangs.
Both have only one thing in common violence! The very use of the term of color
which embraces blacks, . . . Asians, Native Americans and Hispanics, . . . many
whom are ethnically white implies that these

Midaq Alley
Midaq Alley by Naguib Mahfouz is the entertaining story of a unique local alley in
Cairo who demonstrates on a day to day basis the true colors of a quintessential low
class Egyptian society, in a contrast with a present day Egypt that hopes to modernize
as the end of World War II occurs. It is the characters that inhabit this alley, along
with their individual and communal stories and links that they share that excel this
novel into a state of utter glory. The relationship that the residents of the narrow alley
in the forgotten old part of Cairo hold is stronger than the reader initially perceives,
becoming at times the only mean of survival for the alley. Much of the alley s
interaction is based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately for Hamida Salim suffered from a heart attack, and even though he did
not die, Salim s personality and attitude changed radically. He took a stronger
approach on his business and began to trust no one.
He entered her life at a time when she was overcome with despair. Salim Alwan
had collapsed near death after giving her a day and a half of hope for the life she
had always wanted, and now this had happened, after she had banished Abbas from
her dreams. Because she now knew there was no hope of marrying Alwan, she
renewed her engagement to the barber, even though she felt only scorn for him.
(Mahfouz, 161).
However the beauty that Hamida held would not go unnoticed and Faraj was
struck from the moment he saw Hamida in the alley as she came from her daily
walk and he attended the political rally. Faraj seemed like the ideal man for
Hamida, considering that he had the money to lure her with all the extravagant
gifts that she desired. However it is also Faraj who corrupts Hamida. Faraj finally
reveals his identity as a pimp to Hamida convinces her to join the business, and even
changing her name to Titi. Initially this caused no harm to Hamida as she was still
living in the lavish rich dream she always dreamed of.
He laughed out loud, asking, And are pimps not men too? Oh yes, my lovely young
woman, they are real men, but not like
My Patient Is A 68 Year Old Indian Male Essay
My patient is a 68 year old Indian male. His health issues include hypertension,
Type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, cellulitis, and insomnia. He has been in the
facility for 3 years. My patient s weight is 156 lbs. and there were no major weight
changes for the time he has been in the facility. My patient needs assistance with
either wheelchair or a walker, is able to ambulate with or without a device. He is
not allergic to anything, therefore, no modification to the medication is needed. The
primary the patient is in the facility is because of a foot ulcer. The foot ulcer is
unable to heal at a normal pace because he has diabetes. My patient did not take any
medication prior to admission to the facility. One of the diagnosis included
hypertensionalso known as high blood pressure. If not treated over time
hypertension can cause heart disease and stroke. In order, to lower blood pressure
a person can consume a healthy diet with less salt, exercise daily and take their
medication. Usually, if a person s blood pressure is above 140/90 mmHg they are

Analyzing The Vision Of Short Term Lenders Essay
In early 2011 unemployment was rising, economic growth was stagnating, and
families were panicking about making ends meet, all while legal loan sharks were
circling the poor. With consumer credit becoming less available, and banks more
rigorous in lending to consumers, there has been an increase of payday loans and
short term lenders representing sub prime lending bussinesses. These institutions
specialize in offering fast cash and fast loans, both of which are strongly advertised
via different media platforms such as a website, television, andradio stations(Aldohni,
2013). Desperate consumers seeking these short term financial solutions often end up
with long term financial disasters. The promise of easy credit without a credit history
does not come cheap;sometimes costing consumers an Annual Percentage Rate
(APR) of as much as 4000 percent. Calculating the terms of loans using a risk based
pricing system, subprime lenders are able to generate varying interestrates of which
they offer to borrowers with varying credit histories.(Investopedia).
Aldohni (2013) examines the vision of short term lenders, drawing on the legal and
conceptual changes in the United Kingdom s consumer credit sector that aided their
spread. He arges two main ponts: 1) the first of which is that short term lenders are
no different from loan sharks, and 2) that the legal system fails to provide protection
for vulnerable credit consumers. Also, according to Aldohni (2013) changes were
witnessed to the

just 62 cases were accounted for to the unit in 2007, 287 cases in 2008, proportion
dropped in 2009 yet in 2010, more than 312 cases were enlisted. In any case,
unreported occurrences of digital crime are immense in numbers.
In 2012, There was an ICT 7th exhibition CONNECT held in Expo Centre Karachi

victims to pursue cases is the major hurdle in the way of investigations and action

As indicated by him around 200 cases were accounted for in 2011 including internet

of police, extorting and individual mysteries. Man people used to blackmail female

The Importance Of Monuments
Christopher Columbus, a well known name, he has a monument in his honor. This is
made to memorialize him and his voyage to the Americans. What else is there to
consider when creating a monument? Obviously just any person or situation cannot
have a monument, this would make them meaningless and too common. Monuments
are to memorialize, remember great or not so great times in the world. There are
three main pieces of thought that have to be put in before creating a monument. A
main thought that should be considered is the location of the monument. The whole
point of a monument is to memorialize an important person or situation. Sometimes
two monuments that have been assembled for entirely different reasons, so they
should stay in separate locations as well. As stated in Source C, Downes says, I have
to admit: Mount Rushmorebothers me. It was bad enough that white men drove the
Sioux from hills they still hold sacred; did they have to carve faces all over them
too? The author is mad because it was a symbol of disrespect placing these two
monuments close to each other. Mount Rushmore is close to the site of which the
statueof Crazy Horse is located, and the author makes a point. It is not honorable for
one giant monument to overshadow a monument such as Crazy Horse, they are both
supposed to stand out and be honored. This can also be seen vise versa, some people
are only there to see Mount Rushmore and not run into Navajo Indians selling
different crafts. If the

Pcs and Macs are two kinds of computer being sold . They are known as the world s
two biggest competitors in the computer industry. They both have a lot of
differences and similarities. For, example one might say I will be using the

used for personal, commercial, or corporate use. The big differences are graphics,
customizability, performance,Software, price and scalability Pc and Mac can have

Anna Karenina Essay
In Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy presents marriage in a realistic sense, marriage is not
an easy institution; couples must work through the rough patches in order for it to
be strong; he also presents passion as a force that can have a positive influence, but
simultaneously presents passion as a factor that can have a corrupting power on a
person s life. These two couples, Levin and Kitty and Vronsky and Anna, are
compared throughout the course of the novel. Levin and Kitty differ from Anna and
Vronsky because they do not communicate in the same ways. Kitty and Levin try to
resolve issues as they arise, so that they do not create a bigger issue. Another
difference is that Ann and Vronsky are sheltered from society because of Anna s

They are completely open with each other, no matter how difficult the subject is to
talk about. Anna and Vronsky are completely different with respect to their
communication. They are described as having a dark and powerful spiritual bond
(Merezhlevosky, pg.772). Because their relationship is based solely on love, it is
harder for them to communicate effectively. Rather than take the time to solve a
problem, Anna and Vronsky blame each other for the problems. Anna is described
as getting more and more heated and thereby betraying the cause of her irritation
(pg.326). Anna simply gets angry and as a result cannot have a conversation with
Vronsky. This is quite different from the Anna we are introduced to early on in the
novel. She is portrayed as a sweet, charming woman. This kind of attitude is not at
all what is expected of Anna. Vronsky is does not handle situations well either. At
one point in an argument, Vronsky leaves. He is described as having announced his
departure (pg.584). Unlike Kitty and Levin, Anna and Vronsky try to avoid each
other when an issue comes up.
Because of Anna s position as a fallen woman, she and Vronsky lead rather different
social lives than do Kitty and Levin. As Anna and Vronsky s relationship develops
and becomes public, their interactions with society become dulled. At one point,
Anna wishes to go to the theatre; however Vronsky and vises her not to because

Descriptive Essay About Homework
Gemless As I parked in the gravel filled lot I settled in my car for a few minutes
contemplating homework from each of my classes. I stepped outside with my
belongings; there was a slight breeze from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey.
Clouds dotted the orange tinted sky as the sun tried to climb up to be fully seen.
The day right from the start seemed like a good dayso I went about smiling and
walked blissfully to my normal seat next to my friends. We prepared for the
coming classes that day. The deafening bell sounded and we were on our way to
start the actual day. My classmates and I walked joyfully through the hallways,
joking and laughing before reaching our first period destination. I made my way to
the front of the classroom and sat down. The air was crisp so I took out my jacket
and put it on. Our teacher walked in a few minutes late and started to take
attendance. The whole classroom focused on him. After he finished taking
attendance, he slowly reached down into a drawer and pulled out a stack of papers. I
stared in disbelief. The stackof papers he pulled out was actually a pop test. I took
the pop test trying to recall everything that we had learned over the course of two
weeks. I focused on the test for most of the class period and finally turned it in. The
morning weather seemed to just be a ruse. This was not a blissful or good day; it
took a turn for the worst. I sat there in the chilling room trying to think of something

Excellence In Beowulf And The Odyssey
The word excellence means many different things to many different people. A
common definition for the word would include when you do something to the fullest
extent in a way that is absolutely outstanding and exceeds normality. For the Anglo
Saxons, excellence included the qualities of strength and bravery. But for people like
the Greeks, your intelligence and cunningness made you excellent. Excellent people
don t just do things in an outstanding way. The heroes of Beowulfand The Odyssey,
display the definition of excellence for each of their cultures in strength or in
cunningness and wisdom.
Beowulf displays excellence in his powerful strength and extreme bravery in all of
his encounters with monsters, fulfilling the definition of excellence for the Anglo
Saxons. Beowulf claims to have scant regard for the dragon ... Show more content on

Odysseus s slyness gets him out of troubled situations, which is an important part
of excellence for the Greeks. Kyklops, try some wine. Here s liquor to wash down
your scraps of men (lines 377 378). In this situation, Odysseus is smart and knows
that it ll be easier to hurt the monster when he is drunk. The decision of getting him
drunk actually enables him of a better chance to escape. Nohbdy, Nohbdy s tricked
me, Nohbdy s ruined me! (line 443). As a very smart, sly distraction, Odysseus
tricked Polyphemus into opening the cave and letting him and his crew escape. I
drove them, all three wailing, to the ships, tied them down under their rowing
benches (lines 105 106). When the crewmembers ate the lotus, they stopped thinking
about home. In result, Odysseus rightly tied the men to the boat in way to keep
control over them and get away from these lands. Odysseus s most important attribute
that makes him a hero is his ability to be shrewd in troubled situations, which is
highly appreciated by the
American Alliance in WWI vs. Our Failing Economy Essays
In World War I many soldiers were sent to Europe to fight for the democracy of
other countries. The idea of being part of the war was to be heroes in one of the
biggest conflict of the world. The U.S. was convinced that if they could send forces
to Europe and help the Allied Forces to win the war, they would gain a better status
worldwide as the country that saved the peace and democracy. Therefore, the United
Statesgovernment sent thousands of soldiers to fight the war. A big problem came
later, when the war finished and the soldiers came back to America, they were broken
and unemployed. Thousands of veterans were now without their full capacities and
unemployed, so Texas Congressman Wright Patman proposed a bill that would give a

It will be impossible for the Police Department to maintain law and order except by
the free use of firearms. Said the commissioner; leading to President Hoover to take
control with the Army of United States protesters. The other great factor that
influenced in how President Hoover handled the situation of the Bonus Marchers was
the fact that the American Communist Party was involved. One of their leaders, John
Pace, was immersed in the protesters with the mission of developing a stronger
manifestation against the government; however, the Communist Party did not have a
big number of people inside of the riot. Although they took responsibility of the
manifestations and declared that they were leaders and pioneers in arguing in favor
of the Patman s Bill, the truth is that communist were only a few and it is not too
clear if they influenced in the way that the manifestation was done. President Hoover
though, saw that communists were part of this riot and he was afraid of an uprising
in Washington, so he tried everything that was on his power to stop the protest. Also,
he saw the rebellion as a militia that was trying to destroy capitalism by the force,
instead of seeing that the true people who were fighting were unemployed, starving
veterans, looking for solutions.

The Scarcity Of Fossil Fuels
The purpose of this paper is to provide an environmental scan and explore issues
pertaining to the scarcity of fossil fuels. It will briefly explore the transition from
historical energy sources to the primary use fossil fuels. Why is this a dangerous
global issue? What are the effects of said issue as it pertains to the social, economic,
and political landscapes? It will also assert how Abraham Maslow s Hierarchy of
Needs (1943) is impacted by fossil fueldepletion. Finally, some recommendations
will be offered regarding fossil fuels and future exploration, implementation, and
utilization of more renewable energy resources.

As technologies advanced and more inventions became widely available, societies
began to move away from use of those sources and towards fossil fuels for a variety
of reasons. In England, for example. even prior to the Industrial Revolution, demand
was so great and coal so much more efficient than traditional energy sources, it
quickly replaced the use of biomass (wood) as the primary energy source (Allen,
2012). In addition, building upon what was already known about combustion energy
and coupling that with new discoveries such as the steam engine, fossil fuels were a
ticket towards progress all over the world (Mumford, 1935, p. 156). As these
processes were streamlined, the 18th century saw a huge growth in transportation
initiatives, urbanization and population, and the physiological needs of food, water,
and shelter, all on the bottom of Maslow s pyramid (1943), were met with greater
ease. An example of this growth can be found in the United States westward
expansion. The United States, still a relatively young independent country in the 19th
century, would not have experienced such swift westward development without the
steam engine. Although groups of people attempted to take advantage of available
land out West, it was not until the first coal powered transcontinental railroads were
established that the largest

  • 1. Essay On Globalization Writing an essay on the topic of globalization can be both challenging and intellectually stimulating. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of globalization itself. It encompasses a wide array of interconnected issues, including economic, political, cultural, and social aspects. Firstly, addressing the economic dimension of globalization requires a thorough understanding of global trade, finance, and the intricate web of international economic relations. Exploring the impacts on different nations, industries, and individuals necessitates in-depth research and analysis. On the political front, one must delve into the dynamics of global governance structures, examining the roles played by international organizations, treaties, and diplomatic relationships. Understanding the power dynamics between nations in a globalized world adds another layer of intricacy. Cultural globalization poses its own set of challenges, as it involves studying the diffusion of ideas, values, and cultural practices across borders. Analyzing the impact of globalization on cultural diversity requires a nuanced perspective, taking into account both the homogenizing and diversifying forces at play. Moreover, the social implications of globalization demand attention to issues such as inequality, migration, and the influence of global trends on local communities. Examining how globalization affects societies at various levels necessitates a comprehensive examination of societal structures and dynamics. In the process of crafting an essay on globalization, one must synthesize information from diverse sources, critically evaluate arguments, and present a cohesive and well-supported perspective. Balancing the macro and micro aspects of the topic adds an additional layer of difficulty. In conclusion, composing an essay on globalization is no simple task. • 2. The Main Concepts Of The Philosophy Of Liberalism What is Liberalism? INTRODUCTION The term liberalism has a variety of meanings nowadays. Freedom or liberty for each and every individual is the main aim of the philosophy of liberalism. Freedom had different concepts in different periods of time in the history and therefore the programs of liberalism were also different in those time periods. However the main aim always remained the same. Liberalism not only believed in human nature was good but it also believed that humans were rational. It supposes that, as people have a logical intellect, they have the ability to identify different challenges and problems and solve them. This will thus improve the human condition systematically. Conservatism, on the other hand, is the opposite doctrine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But then people started to believe in reason and rationality. People started to think. Up until then those who were powerful used to rule. There was the hereditary aristocracy. But then the people started to realize that this system should be changed. And hence the old traditions were questions, the governments were challenged. This intellectual progress to enlightenment led to powerful revolutionary movements. These movements were successful to put an end to the powerful regimes of the time many parts of the world like Europe, Latin America and North America. Then after that came the French revolution which also successfully put an end to the hereditary aristocracy. These revolutions and movement led to many later
  • 3. Comparing Gone Girl And Daddy In Gone Girl and Daddy , both authors explore the idea that one can never truly be free, and that even once freedom is believed to be gained; one is still not completely free. Although the idea in Plath and Fincher s texts are similar, there are some clear differences in their portrayal. While Fincher creates his film with a cyclic nature to illustrate how Nick is unable to be free from his relationship, Plath uses holocaust allusion to emphasise how the speaker of her poem Daddy felt trapped by her father s looming figure, just as the Jews were by Hitler. Fincher begins his film with Nick stroking his wife s (Amy) hair, and questioning what she is thinking, and concludes the film in the same way, even after Nick s constant struggle throughout the film to escape the failing marriage; alluding to Nick s inability to escape. Plath s reference to her father as a panzer man with his Aryan looks and his Luftwaffe brutality forces the reader to understand the extent in which she is trapped by her father, consequently minimising the shock when the speaker of Plath s poem uses mythical imagery to refer to the model of [her father] that she married in an attempt to be from the restraints of her father. Plath s use of mythical imagery to illustrate her partner is used in a similar way to how Fincher used [metatext /intertextuality/text within a text??] to portray Nick s inability to escape from his marriage to Amy. After the speaker in Plath s poem Daddy escapes her father, she is still unable to be free from him, as she ends up creating a substitute for him by marrying a man who drank [her] blood for a year , the vampire allusion a metaphor for him draining her life and her freedom, in the way a vampire would literally drain the blood of their victim. This inability to escape due to marriage is also strongly reflected in Fincher s Gone Girl . Unlike Plath, Fincher employs the use of a [text within a text?] to portray how the protagonist, Nick, is unable to be free from his relationship with Amy. Amazing Amy Gets Married is a children s book that is written by Amy s parents, which results in pressure being placed on Nick to quickly marry her, so that Amazing Amy is no longer one step ahead from the
  • 4. The Jungle And Fast Food Nation Rhetorical Analysis Relevant literature usually addresses real life situations, bringing light to serious issues. Most of the time, an author will write in hopes to influence others to believe a certain way. Authors must strategize to master the art of persuasion. There are multiple appeals a writer may use in order to get their point across to the audience. The Jungleand Fast Food Nation use ethos, pathos, and logos in efforts to gain support towards their purpose of improving the work conditions and quality of life for immigrants. In order to convince an audience through an ethical appeal, a writer would use ethos. Ethos places an emphasis on the credibility of the source. In The Jungle Upton Sinclairwrites, In the beginning he had been fresh and strong, and he had gotten a job the first day, but now he was second hand, a damaged article... (Sinclair 90). Jurgis, Sinclair s character, goes from adoring capitalism to despising it. Since he proves to be open minded, his feelings seem less biased. Once the reader observes the vicious cycle Jurgis endures, it becomes difficult to make an argument against him. In Fast Food Nation Schlosser states, We are human beings, more than one person told me, but they treat us like animals (Schlosser 169). Instead of just using a single source, Schlosser uses numerous. The fact that the author is collecting stories from several different people makes the account more believable. When an author is pulling at the heartstrings of the

He is by far the most chivalrous and heroic. The Knight s motivation is based on chivalry and religion, contrasting to the Squire who merely wants to impress the ladies. The Squire wastes time and energy that could be channeled more towards his knightly duties. The real motivation of the Squires not based on chivalry, rather it is the appearance of chivalry he wishes to display. Chaucer stated that the Knight, quot;from the day on which he first began / To ride abroad, had followed chivalry quot;(119). The Knight is utterly sincere and whole heartedn his pursuits. • 10. Separation Of Methylene Chloride And Hydrochloric Acid The process of extraction removes a desired compound from a mixture. Because molecules with similar intermolecular forces are more soluble in one another, organic compounds are usually dissolved in organic solvents. Based on the solubility differences of the organic solution and water, when mixed, two distinct layers form. Sometimes, small amounts of the solventmay dissolve in water. To prevent contamination of the product, a drying agent is added to absorb the water molecule. The organic solvent is evaporated from the organic compound through the use of a rotary evaporator. It is a quick process that reduces the pressure and thus the boiling point of a liquid. In this experiment, eugenol was separated from mixtures containing methylene chloride and hexane. If was predicted that methylene chloride would be the most effective solvents due to its immiscibility to water and low boiling point. Procedure First, 0.210 g of eugenol, deionized water and methylene chloride were poured into a separatory funnel. The funnel was shaken and vented 2 3 times. It was placed onto a ring clamp until two layers formed. Then, the top and bottom layers were slowly filtered out into two different beakers. Next, MgSo4 was added to the top layer solution until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for the two layers to form, the solvent had to be immiscible in H2O. Based on their chemical structures, acetone, ethanol, and ethyl acetate are polar molecules This makes them miscible in water. Methylene Chloride is polar, but does not form Hydrogen bonds with H2O. Hexane is nonpolar (Figure 1). Therefore, these two solvents are immiscible in water. At the end of the experiment, the solvent would be evaporated from the solution. Thus, a solvent with a low boiling point was more desirable. The two solvents selected were methylene chloride and hexane with boiling points of respectively 36.9 C and 68 C (Table

Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Herman Melville In short, Herman Melville s story Bartleby, the scrivener , tells the tale of a successful lawyer hiring a new copyist and the challenges he faced with his new hire. Initially, the new hire, Bartleby, was extremely driven and very efficient. He had a great work ethic, and had an extraordinary output of writing for the head lawyer. On the third day Bartlebystunned his boss by preferring not to comply with his boss s request. Bartleby lived in the office in complete isolation from anyone else in the world besides his coworkers. With seemingly no

  • 20. Analysis Of Poem Digging And Blackberry Picking By... Ishrat Chowdhury IB English 4 Ms. Rowe 15 January, 2016 Two of the poems written by Seamus Heaney, Digging and Blackberry Picking , contain recurring themes while both discussing entirely different scenes. The first poem, Digging , talks about Heaney s memories of hearing his father digging in the potato garden outside the house. The second poem, Blackberry Picking , carries a similar solemn tone, while describing another memory of Heaney s of his experience with picking blackberries. These poems by Heaney share similar themes of reflection of his past experiences in which he dissects important life lessons from everyday events such as the passage of time and the uncertainty of life. Imagery is a common form of technique used in poetry in which the author uses visualization to demonstrate a vivid scene for the readers. In the poem, Digging , he discusses his father s aging figure and recreates the feeling of the passage of time by mentioning his grandfather digging in a similar fashion. When Heaney says, Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds; Bends low, comes up twenty years away , he is most likely referring to a past memory of his father, indicating he has passed away twenty years ago. Heaney vividly remembers his father digging, and compares his father s digging to his own penmanship when he says at the beginning of the poem, Between my finger and my thumb/ The squat pen rests; snug as a gun. , and at the end of the poem when he says, Between my
  • 21. Psalm 23 Analysis Psalm 23 The Holy Bible, NIV, (1996) explains that David authored Psalm 23 and that his writing reveals the need for us to turn to God as our shepherd for all of our needs. He begins the Psalm with The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name (Psalm 23: 1 3). Immediately, two important corresponding elements appear, which include green meadows and peaceful streams . The Psalm is written to thank the Lord for all that he does Even when I walk through the dark valley of death, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You welcome me as a guest, anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings (Psalm 23: 5). David does not appear to be calling for help or turning to God in need, but only to express his immense gratitude for the blessings that have been bestowed on him (Bullock, 2004). Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23: 6). David expresses his endless love for God in this Psalm and illustrates to the reader that if we remain faithful God will deliver. If God is obeyed he will continue to be a loving shepherd and meet our

This is a question many people ask themselves, but the question they should be asking themselves is how important is mechanical engineering to the community? Mechanical engineering is a step to create a better future. In the field of mechanical engineering, machines are built to facilitate and improve transportation, manufacturing, and various things we use in our daily lives. In order to become a mechanical engineer, you first have to know the background and requirements for being a mechanical engineer. Mechanical engineeringis a part of engineering that involves the design, installation, manufacturing, and maintenance of machines. Mechanical engineers study physics to create new and advanced machines that will be helpful for us. Some examples of the machines that mechanical engineers work on are electric generators, steam turbines, industrial production equipment, and machine tools. A real life problem is the weight of chicken eggs, and how some are very light and some are quite heavy in comparison. This could also solve the problem of knowing when chickens will lay eggs which weigh a different amount. This could also lead someone on to conduct an experiment which shows the type of food which chickens eat to make their eggs lose less weight. It would mean that the owners of the chickens could know when to stop eating their eggs and just enjoy them as their pets, or could label their eggs either light or heavy. Selecting your own

Even so, in the promotional poster of Pulp Fiction , Uma Thurman (Mia), is shown posing on a bed with a cigarette in one hand and a gun in front of her. An Example Of Diffusion Of The Plasma Membrane I.Introduction There s not much that comes to mind when it s time for that first cup of coffee in the morning except hoping that it s strong enough to stimulate the mind for the time being. This real life scenario is an example of diffusion. Simple right? When cream is poured into coffee it remains heavily concentrated in the area it was poured at and eventually spreads throughout it. The more the coffee is stirred the quicker the cream spreads even more. Sugar would do the same thing as well. This is an example of how the interstitial fluids work within the bodies of humans. Interstitial fluids that enclose in on a cell would be the cell membraneor the plasma membrane s doing. It creates a barrier between the internal fluids and the exterior environment. When the body moves, the diffusing of the molecules within it accelerates. The plasma membrane is made up of many substances, like salts, vitamins, nutrients, waste products, etc... The plasma membrane dictates what enters and makes sure it s sufficient. It blocks out the other substances that isn t needed. Also it happens to be selectively permeable. This means either the molecules progress on without a hassle or there may be a little difficulty to progress on. Materials traverse through the membrane by two methods, which are called passive process and active process. In this lab passive process is part of the main focus. Energy from the cell isn t a necessity when it comes to passive process. The word diffuse

Educators hammer down test taking strategies to students in preparation for end of course stage mandated assessment that when it is all said and done the students are tired of the test before it is even administered. Student achievement should be measured based on student growth and academic growth should not be the only thing educators should emphasize during the school year. If we are trying to decrease the achievement gap for diverse learners it has to be done in a way that is not singling students from diverse backgrounds as defined by society today. We have to understand that all schools are truly diverse because all students and families are unique and instead of creating lessons and programs for members of the school community that are considered diverse by today s societal norms, we should have lessons that embrace what all people have in common. Lessons and programs need to be constructed with the understanding that people are at different places in terms of becoming ready to accept the true diversity of our world. • 41. The Importance Of Pungent Plants I have always been a chili pepper aficionado who enjoyed the pungency, meaning spiciness, of peppers. So I decided to learn about how to grow chili peppers in my garden. While researching chili pepper growth, I saw that pungent plants had 40% greater density of stomata than non pungent plants. Stomata are pores that allow water and air to enter and exit the plant s cells. So pungent plants experience greater water loss than non pungent plants do. Pungent plants have more stomata than non pungent plants because the proteins involved in pungency and building stomata are regulated by the same pathway. (CSMonitor) I became curious on how the amount of water a pungent chili pepperhas affects it. Water, a fundamental component of life, allows all living beings to exist. Plants are no exception. Plants utilize water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and sunlight to undergo the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the method plants use to create food. During photosynthesis, plants use six molecules of water, six molecules of CO2, and sunlight to produce one molecule of sugar and six molecules of oxygen. This reaction, modeled by the equation 6CO2 + 6H2O + sunlight в†’ C6H12O6 + 6O2, demonstrates the essentialness of water in the survival of plants. Water is a crucial component of photosynthesis because it permits plants to produce food that they need to sustain themselves. Food gives plants the energy to perform many functions, such as reproduction and the production of chemicals.

This is significant because most patrons would retain some type of proprietary interest or use their patronage to instill their family as abbots. While this was a common practice, William I chose to free the monastery of any type of entanglements. In the 11th century the Benedictine Order established itself providing stability for society. During the French Revolution in 1790, the abbey was seized and most of it destroyed. Today only one of the original eight towers are left. The Influence of the Cluny Abbey The Cluny is home to an impressive biblical library and is regarded as one of the most important libraries in Europe. The library has survived many disputes, including the sacking by the Huguenots, and the destruction brought on by the French Revolution. The Cluny was surrounded by a thriving community and the Cluny was independent of expectation and could hire any monk they chose. One of the biggest influences of the Cluny Abbey is the number of Cluny monks that were chosen by their peers to become the next Pope. Their names were: Gregory VII Urban

Americans fear the special treatment granted to immigrants will affect the unifying force of the country. Many Americans believe the nation has lost control of its boundaries. Concerned if immigration continues, the U.S. economy will suffer, and that employment will be scarce. Immigrants are flooding the welfare rolls and are heavily involved in crime. (Morganthau 18). The increase number of U.S. immigrants does affect the number of jobs available. The problem is, immigrants are either highly qualified (take American jobs) or are less than skilled in any field (increase welfare). The view on immigration today is one of a drag on the economy, instead of a lift (18). In 1995, new immigration laws transfigure the American society. As a result, races group together to defend their customs. The current immigration problem also increases the racial tension facing America today. One result of racism in the United States is hate groups and gangs. Both have only one thing in common violence! The very use of the term of color which embraces blacks, . . . Analyzing The Vision Of Short Term Lenders Essay In early 2011 unemployment was rising, economic growth was stagnating, and families were panicking about making ends meet, all while legal loan sharks were circling the poor. With consumer credit becoming less available, and banks more rigorous in lending to consumers, there has been an increase of payday loans and short term lenders representing sub prime lending bussinesses. These institutions specialize in offering fast cash and fast loans, both of which are strongly advertised via different media platforms such as a website, television, andradio stations(Aldohni, 2013). Desperate consumers seeking these short term financial solutions often end up with long term financial disasters. The promise of easy credit without a credit history does not come cheap;sometimes costing consumers an Annual Percentage Rate (APR) of as much as 4000 percent. What else is there to consider when creating a monument? Obviously just any person or situation cannot have a monument, this would make them meaningless and too common. Monuments are to memorialize, remember great or not so great times in the world. There are three main pieces of thought that have to be put in before creating a monument. A main thought that should be considered is the location of the monument. The whole point of a monument is to memorialize an important person or situation. Sometimes two monuments that have been assembled for entirely different reasons, so they should stay in separate locations as well. As stated in Source C, Downes says, I have to admit: Mount Rushmorebothers me. It was bad enough that white men drove the Sioux from hills they still hold sacred; did they have to carve faces all over them too? The author is mad because it was a symbol of disrespect placing these two monuments close to each other. Mount Rushmore is close to the site of which the statueof Crazy Horse is located, and the author makes a point. It is not honorable for one giant monument to overshadow a monument such as Crazy Horse, they are both supposed to stand out and be honored. This can also be seen vise versa, some people are only there to see Mount Rushmore and not run into Navajo Indians selling different crafts. If the

These two couples, Levin and Kitty and Vronsky and Anna, are compared throughout the course of the novel. They are described as having a dark and powerful spiritual bond (Merezhlevosky, pg.772). Because their relationship is based solely on love, it is harder for them to communicate effectively. Rather than take the time to solve a problem, Anna and Vronsky blame each other for the problems. Anna is described as getting more and more heated and thereby betraying the cause of her irritation (pg.326). Anna simply gets angry and as a result cannot have a conversation with Vronsky. This is quite different from the Anna we are introduced to early on in the novel. She is portrayed as a sweet, charming woman. This kind of attitude is not at all what is expected of Anna. Vronsky is does not handle situations well either. At one point in an argument, Vronsky leaves. He is described as having announced his departure (pg.584). As Anna and Vronsky s relationship develops and becomes public, their interactions with society become dulled. One of their leaders, John Pace, was immersed in the protesters with the mission of developing a stronger manifestation against the government; however, the Communist Party did not have a big number of people inside of the riot. Although they took responsibility of the manifestations and declared that they were leaders and pioneers in arguing in favor of the Patman s Bill, the truth is that communist were only a few and it is not too clear if they influenced in the way that the manifestation was done. President Hoover though, saw that communists were part of this riot and he was afraid of an uprising in Washington, so he tried everything that was on his power to stop the protest. Also, he saw the rebellion as a militia that was trying to destroy capitalism by the force, instead of seeing that the true people who were fighting were unemployed, starving veterans, looking for solutions. As technologies advanced and more inventions became widely available, societies began to move away from use of those sources and towards fossil fuels for a variety of reasons. In England, for example. even prior to the Industrial Revolution, demand was so great and coal so much more efficient than traditional energy sources, it quickly replaced the use of biomass (wood) as the primary energy source (Allen, 2012). In addition, building upon what was already known about combustion energy and coupling that with new discoveries such as the steam engine, fossil fuels were a ticket towards progress all over the world (Mumford, 1935, p. 156). As these processes were streamlined, the 18th century saw a huge growth in transportation initiatives, urbanization and population, and the physiological needs of food, water, and shelter, all on the bottom of Maslow s pyramid (1943), were met with greater ease. An example of this growth can be found in the United States westward expansion. The United States, still a relatively young independent country in the 19th century, would not have experienced such swift westward development without the steam engine. Although groups of people attempted to take advantage of available land out West, it was not until the first coal powered transcontinental railroads were established that the largest
