We Shall Fight On The Beaches
In Winston Churchill s speech, We Shall Fight On the Beaches he presents a
powerful call to action directly to the British House of Commons in the year of
1940 on the forth of June. Winston uses the techniques of figurative language to
capture his audience s attention in a way they could understand the importance of
his message, without disregarding his high level of intellect. In order for one to
truly understand Churchill s message one must understand the difficult task he was
coined with prior to delivering this powerful message. Through the use of logos
Winston provides us with the necessary background information to inform the
listeners that prior to delivering the speech the British military suffered a great loss
in both France and Belgium. In great detail he speaks on the events that have
occurred leading up to him speaking, giving both us now and the then listener a
better understanding of what he stands for and is fighting for. His use of logos
makes the speech more reliable and comforts the audience because it informs them
that Churchill knows what he is talking about. In his speech he announced to the
public that he knew it was going to be hard to announce and speak on the greatest
military disaster in the history of Britain. His ability to be sensitive and honest in his
challenges creates a powerful bond between his message and the audience. His use of
rhetorichelped bring about a final victory after all the disasters caused by the Nazis.

The Present and Past Five Years of My Life
The Present and Past Five Years of my Life
Throughout a young adult s life there are many things that can drastically change in
five year time period. In fact, I believed to be the age of twenty three years old
waiting to see what the world is about. Like many young adults planning for the
future perhaps I can characterize my myself at twenty three irresponsible individual
with any goals set for my future . As for my present age of twenty seven, I feel like a
mature butterfly sprung with wings of eagerness and wanting to complete goals.
Therefore, the transformation I ve made in five year period reflected on a more
stability lifestyle and engaged me to continue my education journey.
Being the age of twenty three was like a sixteen old teen driving their parent s
wild. My everyday ambition was to hang out with friends and party all most every
night. Since I was unable to afford a place of my own ,I was living under my parent
s roof without the expense of paying bills. My job at the moment was a part time
child care assistance which the pay rate was horrible with any benefits to take care
of myself. Sarcastically I felt like I couldn t even afford to pay my cellphone bill
with the expense of my check, so I had to little odds and ends jobs to get me by. As
for my dating life ironically was another story, I was pretty much dating scumbags
who totally got me grey hairs at an early age. I really wanted to settle with an
individual but it didn t work out. Better

Essay on Wikipedia as a Reliable Source
Wikipedia is a collaborative resource, which aims to be a compendium of all
human knowledge. In a serious examination of Wikipedia as a credible and valid
source of information we need to place our argument within a definable framework.
As I will show information has many uses, for the purposes of this paper I will
examine the use of Wikipediafor scholarly research, the kind, which I will be
utilizing throughout the rest of my MBA program. I will be evaluating Wikipedia
based on the parameters set forth by Brenda Spatt. The credentials, Impartiality, style

Proponents of Wikipedia might suggest that amateurs often make important
contributions to fields outside of their profession. Astronomers, Bird watchers and,
Historians are often outshined by discoveries made by Amateurs. However once the
discovery is made it is the professionals who then validate and confirm that
information something that doesn t happen on Wikipedia. The might also reference
the unofficial policy of citing original sources as a way of validating the information.
Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought or research (Logan, D.W. p1)
Impartiality should be an area where Wikipedia really flourishes. With so many
voices contributing to the ultimate output individual biases and cultural
perspectives would be rounded over and neutralized. One of the five pillars
Wikipedians (what contributors call themselves) are expected to follow is not
sharing unpublished results or promoting their personal theories. This sounds very
noble but these are amateurs, people who by definition are passionate about a topic.
If you are so passionate about a given subject that you donate you time and
knowledge how can you be impartial even if you try. All articles in Wikipedia should
be impartial in tone and content (Logan, D.W. p2)
The elephant in the room that I haven t addressed is vandalism. In this instance
vandalism refers to the act of knowingly submitting false

influence on policies and practice as, has been stressed how important it is to
provide children with the best possible care whilst in the child care setting and a

The child may not want to as he/she may think what s the point the key persons
going to change again. Over 70% of children s lives are spent, not in a setting, but
with their family and the wider community. Therefore home and community must
be recognised as significant learning environments in the lives of children , EYFS,
(2007:P1). So it is important for the key person to try and maintain a suitable bond
and to help produce and maintain the strong bond the child has at home with the
primary caregiver. Since attachment is innate, there is likely to be a limited window
for its development, and so if a child does not form an attachment then it could result
in long term cognitive, social, and emotional difficulties for that infant. The child
may have; reduced intelligence, lack of trust and feel let down and neglected and
because of this they will find it hard to form relationships or attachment to anyone in
the future. If a child has a strong attachment with their key worker, the child will
regard this relationship as positive and this will allow the child to develop positively.
The child will feel content and use this relationship as an example or template for the
future and as a prototype for future relationships. This mental representation is known
as the internal working
Pros And Cons Of Hacking
Hacking is the process of attempting to gain or successfully gain, unauthorized access
to computer resources. Nowadays this technology has become a crime due to these
aspects, we should not neglect using the technologies for such criminal aspects, and
instead we can use it in the better manner like security purpose.
The Oxford English dictionary, states that there are three main definitions of hack in
English: hacking as cut with rough or heavy blows: hack off the dead branches, gain
unauthorized access to data in a computer: hacking private information from
computers, and lastly a piece of computer code providing a quick or inelegant

the woods nearby their home and play. Six of the seven daughters had a unique
power that they could use to entertain or help one another. One could speak to the
animals, while another could manipulate water. The youngest daughter, however,
did not receive any powers after her 13th birthday. The other sisters teased her and
often excluded her from their charades. Soon she grew to despise her siblings and
decided that one day she would leave her family. One night, a fire suddenly erupted
in the forest. The family was trapped inside their home as the fire grew larger and
larger, enveloping the outside of their tiny cottage. The six older sister ran but
perished inside the fire. The youngest remained with her mother and father as they
watched the six sisters souls drift into the heavens. Distraught, the mother and father
wept for their lost children. The fire grew stronger and eventually entered into the

them from the flames. They were saved but the youngest daughter also perished. Her
soul began to drift high up into the night sky where it joined the souls of her sisters.

Clinton was losing until she started crying to the audience, which caused her to win
her win her first set of polls. Hillary was very masculine is the 2008 election, and
she stayed true to herself, because she portrayed a lot of masculine traits in this year
s election as well. Clinton changed her style from the 2008 election, in this election
she lacked charisma. In the 2016 election, Clinton found that charisma, maybe it was
because Donald Trump pushed her and left her no choice, or maybe it was because
she really did find her voice in the 2008 election. In this year s election Trump left
her no other choice than to prove she knew how to lead, and she set the bar high
when it came to professionalism during these elections. Trump did not meet that bar
of expectations, and his only proof of leadership was the fact that he had made
himself millions of dollars. This article s research came from the 87 speeches Hillary
Clinton gave during her 2008 campaign, and these speeches were downloaded and
analyzed. They were objective when analyzing these speeches, and considering they
had them recorded they are very reliable. This article helped me when researching
Clinton s debate styles and communication strategies. This help me compare and

Company s Bottom Line Of Divesting Aol
Executive Summary
The purpose of this research paper is to examine the impact to the company s bottom
line of divesting AOL from Time Warner and of selling the AOL Europe holdings.
The conversant Time Warner merged with AOL in 2001. This produced a loss in
value to both entities. Since the merger, Time Warnerhas looked at ways to either
increase its overall revenue through divesting units or portions of the conglomerate
by acquiring other companies to help increase earnings potential. This paper looks at
the impact to Time Warner if it divests its AOLunit and also what would be the best
way to proceed with selling its AOL Europe holdings. This paper will take a historic
perspective on memo 8 and memo 10 on this case study.
INTRODUCTION
Internet pioneer America Online purchased Time Warner in January 2000 for $165
billion. This merger would become the biggest in history. At the time, Time Warner
was considered to be the largest traditional media company, so the merger was to
serve as an indication that timeworn and new media were in the beginning stages of
convergence. The AOL/Time Warner merger involved a vertical combination of the
biggest Internet content provider with a hefty cable system operator, which offered a
channel through which broad band subscribers could have access to Internet content
at high speeds. AOL had nearly 30 million subscribers worldwide and they would be
positioned to attain access to Time Warner s information and entertainment territory.

Plot Twist In Narrative
Plot twist occurs near or at the conclusion of a story. It is an unexpected conclusion
to a work of fiction that causes to reevaluate the whole plot and characters. When a
plot twist happens it changes one s view of the preceding events, it is also known as
a surprise ending or twist ending. It provides ideas for unexpected turns in the course
of narrative. O.Henry has profoundly used this technique in almost all his stories.
There are many mechanics by which twisted endings are created. There are many

The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne
John Graves

English 251: American Literature I
8 February 2016
The Scarlet Letter was written by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1850 which is based on
the time frame of the Puritans, a religious group who arrived in Massachusetts in the
1630 s. The Puritans were in a religious period that was known for the strict social
norms in which lead to the intolerance of different lifestyles. Nathaniel Hawthorne
uses the puritan s strict lifestyles to relate to the universal issues among us. The time
frame of the puritans resulted in Hawthorne eventually thinking that the puritans
lifestyle as too extreme. Transcendentalism was a philosophical way of thinking for
oneself, and not letting the belief of society alter the personal opinion.
Transcendentalism correlates with The Scarlet Letter and its characters as they battle
society s set values of what is socially right or wrong. Adultery and which craft are
just two of the topics that would not be exceptional to the puritans. Hawthorne came
to realization that everyone is human and as humans we make mistakes, we should
not punish each mistake to the extreme. Using the original work of Nathaniel
Hawthorne and the literary criticism of three critics, I analyze the different
interpretations of the scarlet letter in terms of individualism, conformity, and
homoerotic dynamics. While researching the scarlet letter I found many different
perceptions of the novel, The Scarlet letter is a story that changes interpretation

By treating this model briefly, I do not mean to imply that the tradeoff between
incentives and insurance is irrelevant, only that it is not nearly as central as it was
once deemed. In describing this and subsequent models, I omit some assumptions,
derivations, and results; Prendergast (forthcoming) offers thorough introductions to
many of these models. Consider an agent who takes an unobservable action a to
produce output y. For example, the production function might be linear, y = a + s,
where s is a noise term. The principal owns the output but contracts to share it with
the agent by paying a wage w contingent on output. For example, the wage contract
might be linear, w = s + by,where the intercept s is the salary and the slope b is the
bonus rate. The agent s payoff is w c(a), the realized wage minus the disutility of
action c(a). The principal s payoff is y w, the realized output net of wages. The key
idea in this model is that the agent is risk averse. (The principal may be as well.) A
higher bonus rate b thus creates stronger incentives for the agent, but also imposes
more risk on the agent. The extreme case of b = 0 offers the agent full insurance but
creates no incentives; the other extreme, b = 1, gives the agent full title to the output
y but offers the agent no insurance at all. The efficient bonus rate is between zero and
one, depending on factors such

Employees in the front of the house (FOH) a critical component of the everyday flow
of casino floor. Who will implement the promotional events on the floor while those

only one case of how the employees deal with the ridiculous reasoning when superiors

way, driving their employees to feel unwanted in their position and leaving the job.
The absence of support prompts disappointment both from an employment angle and
feeling just as if the employees do not make a difference and will never be

examining casino work fulfillment and retention incorporate that of support for
advancing education and even staff improvement. Lack in opportunity or even the
capacity to better improve skills and extent of training is a factor in work fulfillment
(Moen, 2015). Because overwhelming calendars the employees do not have any time
to seek educational fulfillment if wanted to. So many factors go into the reasoning to
work towards keeping the employees happy so that they do not decide to quit.

Apache Culture Vs Indian Culture
Long before Christopher Columbus set sail from Spain and landed on Watling Island
in the Bahamas, was a dynamic and nomadic group inhabiting the plains of America.
These independent migrants were known as the Native Americans and only a few
still exist in modern day. The culture of the Native Americans pushed across the
South and East and eventually formed diverse culture areas each with distinct
habitats and characteristics in several regions of the nation. In the Artic region resides
the Inuit and Aluet, the northeast regions comprises of Iroquoian and their
Algonquian neighbors, whereas the southeast indigenous tribes are known for the
Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole. Moving across America,

Although all Native Americans derive great dignity and personify resilient character,
the Apache tribe attributed some of the greatest measures of self determination in the
battlefield. Their adaptive and dexterous abilities are great examples of a community
rebounding from economic and political disturbances. Possessing solitude and strong
character on and off the battlefield earned them the moniker of being a prevailing
nomadic group. What I gained most from this project was how the Apache tribe had
such a significant impact on modern day weaponry and were able to avail from times
of adversities. Despite, encountering with the Spanish colonists and missionaries and
having their population nearly exterminated, the Apache tribe still exists today.
Currently the federal government recognizes the Apache in three states, Oklahoma,
New Mexico, and Arizona, however, some are known to be living in the whereabouts

Combatting the Issue of Human Trafficking
Many organizations have formed to establish several resolutions for combating the
issue of human trafficking , both locally and nationally. I chose to investigate two
existing social awareness campaigns located in Ohio. The reasons I decided to
explore these two organizations is because of the obvious, that my classmates and I
are in the state of Ohiobut overall, it is due to the fact that this state rank s number
five in the nation for human trafficking. There are explanations behind the ranking of
Ohio for this issue. The first explanation is due to the inner city centers and country
counties, which included a big immigrant population. The second explanation is due
to five main highways located throughout Ohio. These highways make it convenient
for human traffickers (Ohio State Bar Association, 2014). The first campaign is
called Second Chance, and it is located in Toledo, Ohio. Second Chance s mission
statement is To offer supportive services to women and youth affected by or at risk
for involvement in sex trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation, as they reclaim
lives of choice. To raise community awareness about the issues of sex trafficking and
the commercial sexual exploitation of childrenand to work diligently to end the

Simon, the manager of the damaged Burger Ranch, inspected the tree, was satisfied
with the tree, initialed the receipt, and paid the $150 for the tree. These facts
definitively imply that the buyer did accept the goods after he had a reasonable
opportunity to inspect it and then made the judgement that it conformed to their
satisfaction, therefore legally accepting the goods. The buyer may contend that
regardless of these facts, the disclaimer clause of the purchase order
acknowledgement represents a material alteration to the original contract and
therefore would not become part of the contract as per Gould Commercial Code

The Massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his Explorers
in...
Two events took place in the mid 19th century in the United States that set the stage
for a third which became an historic turning point in American history. The settlement
of Mormons in Utah and their pursuit to establish their own government coupled with
explorations to develop the transcontinental railroad laid the groundwork for the
massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his explorers in 1853 which took eight lives.
As massacres go, the loss of eight people was not numerically remarkable. What made
the Gunnison Massacre exceptional is that it catapulted into the American conscious.
Both Mormons and American Indians entered the spotlight of American attention,
and the resulting outrage forever changed American sentiment and government...

The Corps described the topography, route, buildings and culture of an assigned

kept a journal of daily movements when the army was on the march. To accomplish
this, such an expedition team would typically include surveyors, a geologist, botanist,
astronomer, meteorologist and an artist. Transcontinental railroad After the United
States acquired so much more territory, the push for expansion accelerated and
spurred development of an American transcontinental railroad line. The California
Gold Rush of 1848 fanned the flames of westward exploration and settlement. One of
the biggest challenges was finding the most suitable route. Businessmen were eager
to expand their horizons and capitalize on new western markets. In 1845, an early
proponent of a transcontinental railroad, Asa Whitney, led an exploratory team along
the route he envisioned from Chicago to northern California. As a highly successful
dry goods merchant and locomotive manufacturer in New Rochelle, New York,
Whitney traveled widely to solicit support from other businessmen and politicians. He
proposed selling land to settlers along the route to finance construction. Whitney
printed maps and pamphlets and submitted several proposals to Congress. He was
thwarted, however, by southern business interests who opposed his plan because they

Based on the observations completed, the children need adult guidance in
managing feelings and impulses. For example, Cash did not want to share the ball
with Alex or Liam, they went to the teacher, and told her about the incident; The

since there are not enough basketballs for every child. Initially he was resistant,
however, he eventually did. Also, they notice feelings and behavior from their

One example is: When Alex had the ball and try to make a basket, he missed it.
Cash ran to get it, and Alex communicated that, it was his ball, Cash threw the ball

LIVENT, INC.
Synopsis
Similar to most financial frauds, the Livent, Inc. fraud was masterminded by a few
individuals, primarily Garth Drabinsky and Myron Gottlieb. However, numerous
individuals were eventually drawn into Livent s fraudulent schemes by its principal
architects, including Maria Messina, the company s chief financial officer (CFO).
Messina, a former partner with Deloitte Touche s Canadian affiliate, had previously
served as Livent s audit engagement partner. The fraud unraveled following Livent s
takeover by an investment group led by Hollywood mogul Michael Ovitz. The new

expenses and liabilities from the company s accounting records, improper deferrals of
major production costs, and capitalizing common operating expenses.
11.In August 1998, Messina and four of her subordinates revealed the fraud to a
Livent executive who had been appointed by Michael Ovitz.
12.In June 2001, a U.S. federal judge ruled that a class action lawsuit filed against
Deloitte for its failure to uncover the Livent fraud could proceed since there was a
reasonable likelihood the audit firm had been reckless in auditing the company.
Instructional Objectives
1.To emphasize the need for auditors to identify the key inherent risk factors posed by
an audit client.
2.To illustrate the lengths to which client management will sometimes go to
misrepresent its company s operating results and financial position.
3.To examine the issues raised when independent auditors accept key accounting
positions with former clients.
4.To illustrate the difficulty of uncovering sophisticated financial frauds
masterminded by top client executives.
5.To emphasize the need for auditors to thoroughly investigate suspicious
circumstances and transactions discovered during an audit engagement.

Tension in The Red Room, The Cone and The Superstitious Man s Story
The Red Room , The Cone and The Superstitious Man s Story are all short stories
which were written before 1914. The Red Room and The
Cone were both written by H.G. Wells and The Superstitious Man s
Story was written by Thomas Hardy. All three of these stories were written in
Victorian Times (1837 1901). These were years of great scientific and technological
developments. The authors of the three stories show us a diminishing belief in
superstition and supernatural.

However, people reveal that they saw this man s ghost got to church on
Midsummer s Eve.
The opening itself creates tension as it puts the reader into the place of the character.
All three stories start of with dialogue which raises the question to us, the reader, of
what has just gone on and what is going to happen next. This makes us read on. In
The Red Room it begins with the narrator saying:
I can assure , said I, that it will take a very tangible ghost to frighten me.
This quote shows that the man is not scared, but we are not sure what is going to
next and we want to find out if he gets scared by the ghost in the room if there is. We
want to find out what might happen to him. We read on to find out what will happen.
Similarly, The Cone starts with dialogue and makes us wonder what has just
happened. This is when the man and woman are talking to each other:
The man and woman spoke to one another in low tones. He does not suspect? said the
man, a little nervously. Not he, she said peevishly, as though that too imitated her.
This puts us in the shoes of the characters and it gets into the action straight away
so we are unaware of what has happened. It makes the reader want to read on as it
leaves us with anticipation. It creates tension as they speak in low tones telling us
that they are keeping a secret. Also, The Superstitious Man s Story the opening
makes us want to read on as it leaves us in the
Human Trafficking Is The Exploitation Of Men, Women,
And...
Human Trafficking is the exploitation of men, women, and children in order to gain
a monetary benefit from the involuntary sex acts the victims are forced to commit.
Trafficking rings are usually run by one pimp or a family of pimps that charm the
victim by offering them a better future of love and promise. However, this life does
not consist of those charming promises. As the testimonies below will show, human
traffickingmay be stated as a good monetary business and life choice, but instead,
trafficking violates human rights and leaves victims isolated from those who love
them, and rejected by the world that does little to protect them.

Rape is one of the harsh punishments the women face. One trafficker, Tajuan,
explains how she and others were forced to watch her best friend get raped as way
of proving that punishment would happen if quota was not met (Calhoun 2). The
same trafficker shares stories of others and herself being starved, being forced to
take drugs, or being killed (Calhoun 2). In one instance, Tajuan said, In the next
eleven years, I worked for many traffickers; I ve been left for dead. I still have a
scar where my throat was cut with a straight razor (Calhoun 2). All of these acts
violate human rights given in Article Five of the United States Constitution: No one
shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or
punishment (youthforhumanrights.org). All human beings should have the right to
walk away from the torture or get help for relief, but in some cases, it is not that
easy. Many victims share the same story as Tajuan when asked why can you not
just walk away? Tajuan s reply is like many others; she could not escape because it
was the only life she knew. The struggle for protection, food, and no other way to
make a living is what prevents the victims from escaping the life of human
trafficking. You feel as if you have nowhere to go (Calhoun 2).
No one commits to inhumane treatment willingly. DSS To Help Teen Sex Slaves

cause by far the greatest number of harms and costs to the population. The most
widely used illicit drug is marijuana, which causes relatively little harm for its level
of use. By far the most direct harms from licit and illicit drugs occur in high risk
populations such as injectors, street youth, the inner city poor, and Natives (Diane,

Starting in the 1970s, the Netherlands left on an even minded damage diminishment
way to deal with medications that has brought about a framework in which need is
given to social insurance and counteractive action while, at the same time, solid
authorization measures are coordinated against sorted out wrongdoing. The
Netherlands experience with drugs in the 19th century was in some ways unique.
Although it was certainly not a drug free nation, it differed from the United States
and other Western European nations in that it did not have the problem of addicted
soldiers and there was little scientific research or public concern regarding addiction.
Two key factors shaped the evolution of the Dutch policy on drugs during this
period: the development of the modern medical profession, and the immense
profitability of Dutch colonial drug operations (Benjamin, Dolin, 2001). By the early
20th century, the Netherlands was the world s largest cocaine producer; huge profits
were made first from opium leases the practice by which the government leased the
right to sell opium to local colonial populations and then later via state monopoly on
the sale of opium (Benjamin, Dolin, 2001). The Dutch government established a
Working Party on Drugs, which came to be known as the Baan Commission. Its
recommendations largely determined the course of the Netherlands drug policy and
resulted in an overhaul of the Opium Act in 1976
The United States Of The Industrial Revolution
Earth provides enough to satisfy every man s needs, but not every man s greed.
Mahatma Gandhi Since the start of the Industrial Revolution the United States of
America has been dependent on burning fossil fuels for energy. In 2015 nearly sixty
seven percent of energy generated in the United States was from fossil fuels including
coal, natural gas, and petroleum. The United Stateshad been aware of a large
abundance of natural gas in shalerock formations thousands of feet below the
surface; however, when they first found these rocks around 1940 there was no
technology or tools advanced enough to drill into these rocks, until the 1970s and
1980s. Companies worked endlessly finding a way to allow shale rocks to release
the gas that they held. Companies eventually came up with a practice called
hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking; this process utilizes water pressure to
fracture or break a rock in order to release and collect fuel such as gas or oil. In
recent years, companies have mixed sand, chemicals and other proponents to retrieve
the maximum amount of gas that each drilling site has to offer. A heated debate has
begun concerning these mixtures and the money involved in fracking. While one side
asserts that fracking should be banned because of potential environmental damage
produced by the fracking mixtures, others claim that fracking should continue
because of potential gains it could provide for the economy in the United States.

this and the fact that Charlie has such an inability to understand others because of his

believe the author is intending to introduce inclusion of exceptional people into the
mainstream, normal life. All of the sudden Raymond is thrown unexpectedly into
everyday situations. Immediately Charlie begins to find out just what a tremendous
schedule and time frame Raymond must be on. This

Taking a Look at Types of Lodging
These past few years, the lodging industry has been growing very significantly. The
global hospitality sector witnessed a strong appetite for growth in 2013, a trend that
is set to continue and pick up pace in 2014 (Strong Performance Predicted for
Global Lodging Industry in 2014, 2014). A decade before, there were no many
options of the lodgingaccommodation. But with the massive growth of hospitality
industry, lodging accommodations are now varied. Full serviced hotels, hostels or
dormitories and Bed Breakfast are some of the examples.
First, the most popular lodging accommodation is hotel. Hotel can be defined as a
structure that provides sleeping accommodation to travelers and that usually features
dining facilities and daily housekeeping service (Akram, 2009). There are various
kinds of hotel that can be distinguished by its style, function, or location. For
example, the trends that are getting popular nowadays are boutique hotels. Boutique
hotels are typically furnished in a themed, stylish and/or aspirational manner
(jonckie, 2011). While there are also business hotels which are targeted at the needs
of business travelers and tend to be located in city centres and at airports. Guestrooms
are equipped with spacious desks, and Internet connection (Akram, 2009). People
choose hotels rather than other budget accommodation because they are looking for
nice facilities and services.
Another popular alternative is hostel. A hostel is a budget oriented,

Butch s constant partner in crime, Sundance Kid.
Originally named Robert LeRoy, Butch changed his name after working with Mike
Cassidy, an infamous cattle and horse rustler. The name Butch was taken from
Robert s brief stint as a butcher in town. He joined Mike in raiding cattle in
Colorado and Utah. It was also Mike who taught the young Butch on how to shoot

Pacific Train which took place on June 1899 in Wilcox, Wyoming. They made off
around $30,000. It was followed by another train robbery in Folsom, New Mexico
where it was reported that they took $70,000 with them. Butch was not part of that
robbery and gang members died or were captured.
On August 1900, Butch, Sundance, Carver and Logan robbed another of the Union
Pacific trains in Tipton, Wyoming. Shortly after, they had their next bank heist at the

next year was also lucrative when they raided the Great Northern Train in Montana

What Is The Theme Of The Poem When We Two Parted
Poetry Analysis The poem When We Two Parted by Lord Byron, shows Bryon s true
emotions when his secret lover parts from his life, which it seems that this lover did
something harmful to their relationship. He conveys this theme by using imagery,
diction, rhyme, and repetition all of these literary devices give this poem meaning
and feelingbehind Bryon s words. Imagery is used to give visual descriptions that
appeal to the five senses, diction is represented in this poem to inform the mood or
tone. Rhymeis the symmetry of words and finally repetition is when something is
being repeated throughout the poem. Imagery allows a connection to the poem

Rhyme as well can give poem a beautiful flow and sound more thought out and
meaningful. Throughout this poem the rhyme scheme that repeats itself is
ABABCDCD. An example of this is when Byron says When we two parted/ in
silence and tears,/ Half broken hearted (line 1 2), which is the rhyme scheme of
ABAB. The last literary device that will be addressed is repetition, which is when
something is being repeated throughout the poem. Repetition is shown is this
poem when it starts with and ends with the same line ...silence and tears (line 2
and 32). Byron uses this literary device to show that in the beginning of the poem
he is grieving over losing this lover and to also set the mood of how he felt about
that experience. Byron ends the poem with repetition of this line to show that even
when getting out what he wants to say he still feels sad about losing this lover.
Since this was a secret lover he emphasizes the fact that he is in silence with his
sorrow, and this shows that he is respectful enough not to share whomever the lover
is. Because not once did Byron ever mention who this lover was and when and where
this all took

My First Day As A Nurse
Today is officially the first day of my nursing career, this is the day I have been
looking forward to for years. Recently, I received a position as an emergency room
nurse which has been my desire for as long as I can remember. The pace and the
unpredictability are the factors that drew me into this field of nursing and finally, I
can experience it as a registered nurse. I hear the familiar sounds of the ambulance
approaching getting louder with every second, I can feel my heart thumping in my
chest and perspiration develops on the palms of my hands. I know this patient will
be my first case. I quickly grab a trauma gown and some gloves and head out to meet
the ambulance.
The paramedic looks at me wide eyed and begins to tell me the backstory of this
patient as he unloads the gurney from the ambulance. He states urgently, Female,
15, conscious, has a fever of over 40 degrees, complaining of a stiff neck and
headache, rash (purpura) on her trunk and lower extremities, she vomited in the
field and according to her parents was lethargic and confused. (2) The terrified
parents scramble out of the ambulance and follow their daughter inside; my mind is
instantly flooded with the possibilities, we transfer her into a trauma room to
examine her more closely and find a purple blotchy rash over her trunk, legs and
spreading to her neck. Dr. Williams and I look at each other grimly, we both know
what is going on with this patient. There has been a recent outbreak of meningitis
A Compare And Contrast Fats Research Paper
Compare and Contrast Fats Generally, the word shortening means any group of solid
fats. Shortenings generally consist of nearly 100 percent fat. It may be made from
vegetable oils, animal fats, or both. Shortenings are used for may purposes, so
manufacturers have formulated various kinds of fats with various properties.
(Gisslen, 2013)
All Purpose Shortening
Also known as regular shortening, have a tough, waxy texture, and small particles of
the fat tend to hold their shape in a dough or batter. They are called plastic
shortenings, which means they are moldable at room temperature. They have a good
creaming ability. Which means that a good quantity of air can be mixed into them to
give a batter lightness and leavening power. This type of shortening melts only at a
high temperature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are also used in many other pastries, breads, and products mixed by creaming,
such as certain pound cakes, cookies, and quick breads.
High Ratio Shortening
These are soft shortenings that spread easily throughout a batter and quickly coat
the particles of sugar and flour. The are call high ratio because they were devised for
use in cake batter that contain a high ratio of sugar and liquid to flour. They also
contain added emulsifying agents, so they can hold a larger quantity of liquid and
sugar than regular shortenings. Which gives a smoother and finer texture to cake and
make them moister. Commonly referred to as emulsifying shortening.
High ratio shortening does not cream well. When a recipe calls for creaming
shortening and sugar, regular shortening should be used. High ratio shortening is
often used in icings because it can hold more sugar and liquid without curdling. It is
more temperature stable and will hold air better upon whipping, improving volume
and stability.
Donald Super Theory
In 1980, Donald Super introduced a theory that described career development in
terms of life stages and life roles. Super was one of the first theorists to discuss the
constantly evolving nature of career development, and the importance of finding a
balance between career and personal life. Super s developmental model
emphasized how personal experiences interact with occupational preferences in
creating one s self concept. Super discussed how each of us progress through
various life and career development stages, including growth, exploration,
establishment, maintenance, and disengagement. He also discussed that each of us
take on different roles as we go through life, such as a child, student, leisurite,
citizen, worker, parent, and spouse. Each of these roles has an impact on our
personal and professional development, and on our work/life balance. Finally, his
archway of career determinants detailed how both personality characteristics
(intelligence, needs, values) and societal characteristics (labor market, school,
family) influence our career choices and have a major impact on our career
development. Super s Life and Career Development Stages Donald Super s theory
of career development focuses on the different stages people progress through as
they go through life, and how these stages correlate with important events and career
choices. During growth (birth 14 years), people grow physically and begin to form
ideas of their self worth. During this time, many people
Alliteration In Beowulf
Beowulf is an epic poem thought to be written towards the end of the first
millennium. Today, it is considered an old English masterpiece and is also the most
ancient known piece of English literature. Written in Old English , or the language of
the Anglo Saxons, the story talks about glorious heroes and dreadful monsters with
the typical reference to the struggle between good and evil. This reference is
speculated to be also tied to the crusade, and the fight for strengthening Christianity. It
is also a type of history book of how the English language has altered throughout the
time. The poem also contains lots of mythical references including the great hero,
Beowulf. Beowulf, the poem, introduced many new concepts that have been added...

sit down and eat. It becomes their relaxing period, and extra time to catch up with
friends and work on homework. Lunch gives a boost of energy to finish the rest of
the school day. Today, most students don t eat healthy in general whether it s at
home or at school, but school doesn t add to the effect. For years cafeteria food has
been an issue with not many improvements, just more complaints. By asking any
student, each person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s true that school lunches will satisfy children s hunger, but for the most part
wouldn t a parent want their child to actually enjoy the food rather than struggling
to get it down? Most of time if the food does not seem enticing, the child will not
eat it, which ends up with the child running on empty for the rest of the school day
resulting in an inability to focus. For example, many kids hate the taste of Brussels
sprouts and would try anything to avoid it but, at home their parents can usually
get them to eat it one way or another. At school they re on their own, so instead of
eating the food, they ignore it all together. Imagine having school food that actually
tastes good, giving the parents a level of confidence by not having to worry about
their child s hunger. It s correct that some school lunches are cheap but it s only
because the food is disgusting. The kids lunch was mystery meat with barbecue
sauce; a little salad, and brown roll, neither of which interested the kids, and
chocolate milk with high fructose corn syrup and mono and dyglicerides. (Burros).
School lunches may try to be healthy, but they are failing to meet those standards. In
some schools there are vending machines that contain unhealthy items such as potato
chips, candy bars, and skittles (Stewart). The foods that are served contain high fat
and high calorie foods (Stewart). Students who eat a lot of foods containing
preservatives may not be able to digest whatever nutrients are contained in those foods

Save Electricity
65 WAYS TO SAVE ELECTRICITY
KEEP YOUR ELECTRICITY BILLS DOWN AND SAVE ENERGY FOR THE
FUTURE BY BEING AWARE OF THE MOST EFFICIENT WAYS TO USE
ELECTRICITY.
COOKING
1 Keep the door closed. Ever time you open it the temperature drop about 20 degrees
(c)
2 Cook several dishes at the one time.If you are cooking small items use the frypan.
3 When cooking small quantities use one sauce pan with dividers.
4 Keep food warm at 70 80 deg(c) Higher temperatures waste electricity and over
cook food.
5 Use oven heat for plate warming.
6 Use utensils with flat bottoms and well fitting lids.Make sure they cover hotplates.
7 To cook vegetables the water doesn t need to be boiling furiously a gentle simmer
is enough.
8 Fan type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Don t put hot food into a fridge or freezer.
CLOTHES AND WASHING
43 Don t buy a large machine if you don t need it. For the occasional big wash an
extra cycle or two is cheaper than under using a large washer.
44 Adjust the water level to economically wash a partial load.Otherwise it is better to
wait until you have a full load. But don t overload your machine.
45 Your washer may have features than can save your money.Soak cycles remove
stubborn stains in wash cycle.Suds savers allow you to re use hot water.
46 Use correct type of detergent and cold or tepid water will wash clothes effectively.
LIGHTING
47 Good lighting means avoiding glare and gloom by using the right amount of light
in the right way.
48 Use light translucent shades opaque or dark shades require bigger lamps.
49 Use a good local light near the task. It is more effective and more efficient than a
large central light.
50 Use fluorescent tubes . they use about a quarter of electricity used by ordinary
globes and they last about eight times as long. They CAN be switched on and off as
often as you need without affecting operating cost.
CLOTHES DRYING
51 Use solar energy to dry your clothes it costs nothing.
52 Operate your dryer using the fan alone. Only switch the heater on if it is really
necessary.Vent the dryer outside the house and don t let lint block the vent.
53 never overload or underload the dryer you get most economical operation with
Periplaneta Americana Experiment
The entire experiment was conducted on an adult cockroach, Periplaneta
americana, which was anesthetized using CO2 followed by an exposure of the
ventral nerve cord using the method outlined in the PNB 3263WQ Laboratory
Manual (Moiseff, 2016). Exposure to sound stimulation began with a spontaneous
recording which was used as baseline for the obtained firing rate, followed by
Auditory stimulation at 200 Hz, 400 Hz, 600 Hz and Ultrasonic pest repellent
(UPR, which emits a sound frequency of 25,000 Hz). Eight trials were performed per
sound frequency with 10 second rest between each trial and 1 minute rest allowed
between frequency change. (Fig.1). the length of each stimulation lasted for 250
msec. eight specimens were used in the experiment... Show more content on

The oscilloscope was used to determine that electrode placement was sufficient to
record neural activity. This was determined by looking for a recording with
minimal background noise and clear spontaneous extracellular action potentials
(EAPs) . Criteria for an EAP included the presence of a clear bi or triphasic
waveform amplitude peak above 10 mV. For each specimen, the total firing rate
i.e: the count of EAPs present within 250 msec was recorded, the average of each
specimen was taken and total grand mean as well as the stand deviation were
calculated. All of the imaging recording were analyzed using video recorder and
the freeze option to accurately measure the degree change within each stimulation.
A total of 8 trials at each sound frequency totaling to 16 trials per specimen, we
examined the same 8 specimens that were later used for dissection and exposure of
VNC experimental part of the study. An ANOVA statistical analysis was used to
compare the result of five experimental conditions. This test was performed for the
average firing rate. As well as Tucky HSD test was used to determine which
conditions were statistically significant and which ones were
Explain The Four Stages Of Cognitive Development
The four stages of cognitive development which Piaget created are, according to
http://psychology.about.com, grouped as the following: sensorimotor, ages birth
to two years; preoperational, ages two to seven years of age; concrete operational,
ages seven to eleven; and finally formal operational, ages 12+. The sensorimotor
stage involves the child getting to know their surroundings. During this stage
children want to touch, taste, and see everything there is around them. They begin
to realize that by performing a certain action something happens. Take the dropping
toys scenario, babies think it s funny to drop a toy or a bottle and watch the adult
pick it up again and again. They are learning they if they drop something and
cannot reach it there will always be someone to pick it up for them; it becomes a
learning game for them. During this age children are always putting things in their
mouths. This is what teaches them what is good to eat and what is not. They learn
by the different tastes and feels of certain items. Charlie would most likely fall into
this category. He is two years old and having him help bake cookies would be a very
trying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this stage children will mimic words and learn many vocabulary words in
order to form their own thoughts. Children may also try out some words that may not
be appropriate because they have heard someone else say them. This stage involves
the child starting to think logically and beginning to form their own opinions about
certain subjects. They want to choose for themselves whether they wear a certain
outfit or if they want to go somewhere. They begin to express their feelings about
certain subjects and whether they think something is fair or not. Penelope falls into
this category. At this age she would be able to function well enough to help pour the
ingredients into the bowl and start to mix things with her
Zachary Taylor Domestic Policy 1849-1850

b.1849 1850
c.Whig
d.Millard Fillmore
2.During his time as president, Taylor leaned toward not expanding slavery into
the new territories and allowed California to be admitted as a free state. He also
said that New Mexico should make its own decision about slavery in their state
constitution. This infuriated the South because it would upset the free and slave
state balance. Many states threatened succession which Taylor strongly opposed and
threated to hang anyone with such conspiracies. A Compromise was proposed by
Henry Clay to bring territorial laws for Utah and New Mexico which had nothing
about banning slavery. Taylor opposed this but died and his successor signed the
compromise into law. Taylor also had a strong stance on the Texas/ New Mexico
border dispute and threatened to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Democrat
d.John C. Breckinridge
2.Buchanan was a supporter of popular sovereignty and one of his decisions
regarding domestic policy was persuading one of the justices to agree with the
South during the Dred Scott case. Another important domestic policy was regarding
Bleeding Kansas. Buchanan wanted to accept Kansas as a slave state. However,
after many people were angry, Buchanan had to allow people to revote and Kansas
ended up joining as a free state.
3.During Buchanan s presidency, he was very focused on Cuba. Buchanan wanted to
annex Cuba, even though republicans opposed it. Buchanan had William Walker
arrested for setting up a dictatorship in Nicaragua, however, Walker was released.
Buchanan also dealt with a conflict with Great Britain. He used the navy and armed
forces to get Britain to stop interfering in Central America. After a few attempts, he
managed to get Britain to stand down.
4.During his presidency, the Panic of 1857 occurred because of weak trade and
caused the United States to go into a depression. In addition, Central Park was
opened and is still visited in large numbers today.

Visual Aesthetics
Part One: Visual Aesthetics Essay The work of art I chose is a sculpture by
Antonio Raggi which is located in the church of Santi Domenico e Sisto, in Rome. I
think it gives meaning to the story by giving you a physical work that expresses all
of the thoughts and emotions the characters are feeling. The piece shows Mary on
her knees in front of Jesusdesperately reaching towards him, probably to prove to
herself that he is really there in front of her, while Jesus seems to be gesturing with
his outstretched hand do not touch me . The first thing that I was drawn to when I
first layer eyes upon the paining was the hand of Jesus, which seems to me to be the
most important part in the sculpture. My eyes then wandered to Jesus s face, then to...

Mary is talking with a man she assumes is a gardener asking him questions, instead
of answering he speaks her name, causing Mary to instantly recognize who she
thought was a gardener as instead being Jesus. Why did Mary not recognize him
until she heard his voice? This is because, according to Nancy because she believes
that which she hears. Some other characters in the story put their faith in what
they saw, the disciple John sees an empty tomb and based on what he sees is able
to believe that Jesus has risen from the dead. However, Mary Magdalene could not
place her faith in what she saw like others could. When she saw the empty tomb
with the discarded bandages she still didn t believe that Jesus could be alive, and
even when Jesus himself was standing before her she was still unable to believe.
What triggered Mary to come to the understanding that Jesus was alive was not
sight, but sound. When she heard his voice she instantly knew that it was him
before her and not the gardener she had believed him to be. After she knew it was
him she called out to Jesus to show him that she believed. She used her voice to
show him that she has believed based on that which she can hear. Some need to see
to believe, but for Mary she needed to
Truman Elementary Essay
Truman Elementary located in Lafayette is a Montessori school built on Dr. Maria
Montessori teaching. The campus is entirely populated with four to five year olds
and is the only La4 preschool in the state. The earliest a child can attend Truman is at
the age of three, but they have to be four by September 1st. At Truman, the
preschoolers rule the roost and have the opportunity to become comfortable with the
schoolroutine in a safe environment. Truman s preschoolers and kindergarten only
student body also means the students can engage in activities whenever they want,
without fear of disturbing the work of older students. It also means that Truman is
a unique, energy filled campus where every day is a fun day. The goal of the
program is to ensure that every child enters school ready to learn, and it is working.
Every year, students are tested on their skills before school starts and again after the
year is completed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On orientation day, parents are provided with many different services such as
transportation, nursing, child welfare, attendance, and lunch forums. The school also
offers parents a resource center if any parent needs help or if he or she would like to
work on anything there is staff to assist them. The school s philosophy of working
with parents and families is every child is important. Throughout the school year a
parent is given newsletters from the school that gives the parents insight about
upcoming events. One event that the students love is the fall festival because the
parents can participate. The Fall Fest allows parents to come together and enjoy
music, food, and games. Other events that they conduct during the school year are
graduation, movement with mom, and a winter festival. A few communication
methods they utilize are text messages, newsletters, paste message, and phone
The Force Awakens Stereotypes
The Force Awakens is the newest episode of Star Wars that has been released in
theatres, and takes place many years after the fall of the Galactic Empire. The
Resistance, the new Rebel Alliance, now faces a new threat, the First Order. In the
hopes of defeating this threat, they look to Luke Skywalker, who s whereabouts are
unknown. Rey, the capable and independent protagonist, rescues a BB 8 unit and
discovers it holds the missing piece of the map that leads to Luke. Together, along
with Finn, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, they must find a way to deliver the piece of
the map to The Resistance and stop the First Order s plans of annihilation.
When someone thinks about the qualities of a hero, the few that always come to
mind are strength, an acting leader, and a protector of the innocent; all of which are
qualities thought of as being predominantly male. These qualities are further
exemplified in Luke Skywalker, the young Jedi Knight of episodes IV through VI,
all of which were made about forty years ago. A young farmer who was strong with
the force, Luke went on to become one of the strongest Jedi ... Show more content on

In doing so, it displays the way our society has progressed to view women as
physically capable as men. The importance of this idea cannot be overstated. The
Force Awakens was a highly anticipated movie with a fan base that stretched around
the world. Adults and children all know of Star Wars, and to depict the hero of the
newest episode as a female sends strong messages to everyone. Little girls look up
to Rey and feel inspired by her actions. Little boys who see a female as the hero
will view her as their equal and respect her. The countries who still view women as
lesser beings will see Rey s strength and independence. While it may not urge them to
act, it should certainly give them something to consider about the way they view their
own wives and

We Shall Fight On The Beaches In Winston Churchill s speech, We Shall Fight On the Beaches he presents a powerful call to action directly to the British House of Commons in the year of 1940 on the forth of June. Winston uses the techniques of figurative language to capture his audience s attention in a way they could understand the importance of his message, without disregarding his high level of intellect. In order for one to truly understand Churchill s message one must understand the difficult task he was coined with prior to delivering this powerful message. Through the use of logos Winston provides us with the necessary background information to inform the listeners that prior to delivering the speech the British military suffered a great loss in both France and Belgium. In great detail he speaks on the events that have occurred leading up to him speaking, giving both us now and the then listener a better understanding of what he stands for and is fighting for. His use of logos makes the speech more reliable and comforts the audience because it informs them that Churchill knows what he is talking about. In his speech he announced to the public that he knew it was going to be hard to announce and speak on the greatest military disaster in the history of Britain. His ability to be sensitive and honest in his challenges creates a powerful bond between his message and the audience. His use of rhetorichelped bring about a final victory after all the disasters caused by the Nazis. Churchill knew

As for my present age of twenty seven, I feel like a mature butterfly sprung with wings of eagerness and wanting to complete goals. Therefore, the transformation I ve made in five year period reflected on a more stability lifestyle and engaged me to continue my education journey. The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne John Graves Professor Connie Caskey English 251: American Literature I 8 February 2016 The Scarlet Letter was written by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1850 which is based on the time frame of the Puritans, a religious group who arrived in Massachusetts in the 1630 s. The Puritans were in a religious period that was known for the strict social norms in which lead to the intolerance of different lifestyles. Nathaniel Hawthorne uses the puritan s strict lifestyles to relate to the universal issues among us. The time frame of the puritans resulted in Hawthorne eventually thinking that the puritans lifestyle as too extreme. Transcendentalism was a philosophical way of thinking for oneself, and not letting the belief of society alter the personal opinion. Transcendentalism correlates with The Scarlet Letter and its characters as they battle society s set values of what is socially right or wrong. By treating this model briefly, I do not mean to imply that the tradeoff between incentives and insurance is irrelevant, only that it is not nearly as central as it was once deemed. In describing this and subsequent models, I omit some assumptions, derivations, and results; Prendergast (forthcoming) offers thorough introductions to many of these models. Consider an agent who takes an unobservable action a to produce output y. For example, the production function might be linear, y = a + s, where s is a noise term. The principal owns the output but contracts to share it with the agent by paying a wage w contingent on output. For example, the wage contract might be linear, w = s + by,where the intercept s is the salary and the slope b is the bonus rate. The agent s payoff is w c(a), the realized wage minus the disutility of action c(a). The principal s payoff is y w, the realized output net of wages. The key idea in this model is that the agent is risk averse. (The principal may be as well.) A higher bonus rate b thus creates stronger incentives for the agent, but also imposes more risk on the agent. The extreme case of b = 0 offers the agent full insurance but creates no incentives; the other extreme, b = 1, gives the agent full title to the output y but offers the agent no insurance at all. The efficient bonus rate is between zero and one, depending on factors such

Two events took place in the mid 19th century in the United States that set the stage for a third which became an historic turning point in American history. The settlement of Mormons in Utah and their pursuit to establish their own government coupled with explorations to develop the transcontinental railroad laid the groundwork for the massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his explorers in 1853 which took eight lives. As massacres go, the loss of eight people was not numerically remarkable. What made the Gunnison Massacre exceptional is that it catapulted into the American conscious. Transcontinental railroad After the United States acquired so much more territory, the push for expansion accelerated and spurred development of an American transcontinental railroad line. The California Gold Rush of 1848 fanned the flames of westward exploration and settlement. One of the biggest challenges was finding the most suitable route. Businessmen were eager to expand their horizons and capitalize on new western markets. In 1845, an early proponent of a transcontinental railroad, Asa Whitney, led an exploratory team along the route he envisioned from Chicago to northern California. As a highly successful dry goods merchant and locomotive manufacturer in New Rochelle, New York, Whitney traveled widely to solicit support from other businessmen and politicians. He proposed selling land to settlers along the route to finance construction. Whitney printed maps and pamphlets and submitted several proposals to Congress. The Netherlands experience with drugs in the 19th century was in some ways unique. Although it was certainly not a drug free nation, it differed from the United States and other Western European nations in that it did not have the problem of addicted soldiers and there was little scientific research or public concern regarding addiction. Two key factors shaped the evolution of the Dutch policy on drugs during this period: the development of the modern medical profession, and the immense profitability of Dutch colonial drug operations (Benjamin, Dolin, 2001). By the early 20th century, the Netherlands was the world s largest cocaine producer; huge profits were made first from opium leases the practice by which the government leased the right to sell opium to local colonial populations and then later via state monopoly on the sale of opium (Benjamin, Dolin, 2001). Mahatma Gandhi Since the start of the Industrial Revolution the United States of America has been dependent on burning fossil fuels for energy. In 2015 nearly sixty seven percent of energy generated in the United States was from fossil fuels including coal, natural gas, and petroleum. The United Stateshad been aware of a large abundance of natural gas in shalerock formations thousands of feet below the surface; however, when they first found these rocks around 1940 there was no technology or tools advanced enough to drill into these rocks, until the 1970s and 1980s. Companies worked endlessly finding a way to allow shale rocks to release the gas that they held. Companies eventually came up with a practice called hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking; this process utilizes water pressure to fracture or break a rock in order to release and collect fuel such as gas or oil. In recent years, companies have mixed sand, chemicals and other proponents to retrieve the maximum amount of gas that each drilling site has to offer. A heated debate has begun concerning these mixtures and the money involved in fracking. While one side asserts that fracking should be banned because of potential environmental damage produced by the fracking mixtures, others claim that fracking should continue because of potential gains it could provide for the economy in the United States. The are call high ratio because they were devised for use in cake batter that contain a high ratio of sugar and liquid to flour. They also contain added emulsifying agents, so they can hold a larger quantity of liquid and sugar than regular shortenings. Which gives a smoother and finer texture to cake and make them moister. Commonly referred to as emulsifying shortening. High ratio shortening does not cream well. When a recipe calls for creaming shortening and sugar, regular shortening should be used. High ratio shortening is often used in icings because it can hold more sugar and liquid without curdling. It is more temperature stable and will hold air better upon whipping, improving volume and stability.

Super was one of the first theorists to discuss the constantly evolving nature of career development, and the importance of finding a balance between career and personal life. Super s developmental model emphasized how personal experiences interact with occupational preferences in creating one s self concept. Super discussed how each of us progress through various life and career development stages, including growth, exploration, establishment, maintenance, and disengagement. He also discussed that each of us take on different roles as we go through life, such as a child, student, leisurite, citizen, worker, parent, and spouse. Each of these roles has an impact on our personal and professional development, and on our work/life balance. Finally, his archway of career determinants detailed how both personality characteristics (intelligence, needs, values) and societal characteristics (labor market, school, family) influence our career choices and have a major impact on our career development. Periplaneta Americana Experiment The entire experiment was conducted on an adult cockroach, Periplaneta americana, which was anesthetized using CO2 followed by an exposure of the ventral nerve cord using the method outlined in the PNB 3263WQ Laboratory Manual (Moiseff, 2016). Exposure to sound stimulation began with a spontaneous recording which was used as baseline for the obtained firing rate, followed by Auditory stimulation at 200 Hz, 400 Hz, 600 Hz and Ultrasonic pest repellent (UPR, which emits a sound frequency of 25,000 Hz). Eight trials were performed per sound frequency with 10 second rest between each trial and 1 minute rest allowed between frequency change. (Fig.1). the length of each stimulation lasted for 250 msec. eight specimens were used in the experiment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The oscilloscope was used to determine that electrode placement was sufficient to record neural activity. This was determined by looking for a recording with minimal background noise and clear spontaneous extracellular action potentials (EAPs) . Criteria for an EAP included the presence of a clear bi or triphasic waveform amplitude peak above 10 mV. For each specimen, the total firing rate i.e: the count of EAPs present within 250 msec was recorded, the average of each specimen was taken and total grand mean as well as the stand deviation were calculated. All of the imaging recording were analyzed using video recorder and the freeze option to accurately measure the degree change within each stimulation. A total of 8 trials at each sound frequency totaling to 16 trials per specimen, we examined the same 8 specimens that were later used for dissection and exposure of VNC experimental part of the study. An ANOVA statistical analysis was used to compare the result of five experimental conditions. This test was performed for the average firing rate. As well as Tucky HSD test was used to determine which conditions were statistically significant and which ones were

Explain The Four Stages Of Cognitive Development The four stages of cognitive development which Piaget created are, according to http://psychology.about.com, grouped as the following: sensorimotor, ages birth to two years; preoperational, ages two to seven years of age; concrete operational, ages seven to eleven; and finally formal operational, ages 12+. The sensorimotor stage involves the child getting to know their surroundings. During this stage children want to touch, taste, and see everything there is around them. They begin to realize that by performing a certain action something happens. Take the dropping toys scenario, babies think it s funny to drop a toy or a bottle and watch the adult pick it up again and again. They are learning they if they drop something and cannot reach it there will always be someone to pick it up for them; it becomes a learning game for them. During this age children are always putting things in their mouths. This is what teaches them what is good to eat and what is not. They learn by the different tastes and feels of certain items. Charlie would most likely fall into this category. He is two years old and having him help bake cookies would be a very trying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this stage children will mimic words and learn many vocabulary words in order to form their own thoughts. Children may also try out some words that may not be appropriate because they have heard someone else say them. This stage involves the child starting to think logically and beginning to form their own opinions about certain subjects. They want to choose for themselves whether they wear a certain outfit or if they want to go somewhere. They begin to express their feelings about certain subjects and whether they think something is fair or not. Penelope falls into this category. At this age she would be able to function well enough to help pour the ingredients into the bowl and start to mix things with her

Zachary Taylor Domestic Policy 1849-1850 Hannah Sawickey Presidential Brief #11 1. a.Zachary Taylor b.1849 1850 c.Whig d.Millard Fillmore 2.During his time as president, Taylor leaned toward not expanding slavery into the new territories and allowed California to be admitted as a free state. He also said that New Mexico should make its own decision about slavery in their state constitution. This infuriated the South because it would upset the free and slave state balance. Many states threatened succession which Taylor strongly opposed and threated to hang anyone with such conspiracies. A Compromise was proposed by Henry Clay to bring territorial laws for Utah and New Mexico which had nothing about banning slavery. Taylor opposed this but died and his successor signed the compromise into law. Taylor also had a strong stance on the Texas/ New Mexico border dispute and threatened to ... • 46. Visual Aesthetics Part One: Visual Aesthetics Essay The work of art I chose is a sculpture by Antonio Raggi which is located in the church of Santi Domenico e Sisto, in Rome. I think it gives meaning to the story by giving you a physical work that expresses all of the thoughts and emotions the characters are feeling. The piece shows Mary on her knees in front of Jesusdesperately reaching towards him, probably to prove to herself that he is really there in front of her, while Jesus seems to be gesturing with his outstretched hand do not touch me . The first thing that I was drawn to when I first layer eyes upon the paining was the hand of Jesus, which seems to me to be the most important part in the sculpture. My eyes then wandered to Jesus s face, then to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mary is talking with a man she assumes is a gardener asking him questions, instead of answering he speaks her name, causing Mary to instantly recognize who she thought was a gardener as instead being Jesus. Why did Mary not recognize him until she heard his voice? This is because, according to Nancy because she believes that which she hears. Some other characters in the story put their faith in what they saw, the disciple John sees an empty tomb and based on what he sees is able to believe that Jesus has risen from the dead. However, Mary Magdalene could not place her faith in what she saw like others could. When she saw the empty tomb with the discarded bandages she still didn t believe that Jesus could be alive, and even when Jesus himself was standing before her she was still unable to believe. What triggered Mary to come to the understanding that Jesus was alive was not sight, but sound. When she heard his voice she instantly knew that it was him before her and not the gardener she had believed him to be. After she knew it was him she called out to Jesus to show him that she believed. She used her voice to show him that she has believed based on that which she can hear. Some need to see to believe, but for Mary she needed to

The Resistance, the new Rebel Alliance, now faces a new threat, the First Order. In the hopes of defeating this threat, they look to Luke Skywalker, who s whereabouts are unknown. Rey, the capable and independent protagonist, rescues a BB 8 unit and discovers it holds the missing piece of the map that leads to Luke. Together, along with Finn, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, they must find a way to deliver the piece of the map to The Resistance and stop the First Order s plans of annihilation. When someone thinks about the qualities of a hero, the few that always come to mind are strength, an acting leader, and a protector of the innocent; all of which are qualities thought of as being predominantly male.
