challenging, as it requires thorough research, critical thinking, and the ability to present
compelling arguments. Firstly, selecting suitable topics that are both relevant and engaging for
high school students can be a daunting task. It requires consideration of various factors such as
the students' interests, current events, and educational relevance.
Once the topic is chosen, crafting a strong argumentative essay involves extensive research to
gather credible sources and evidence to support the claims made in the essay. This research

Conflict Management And Visionary Leadership
This paper will synthesize in groups, topics and subtopics of articles previously used
in week four and five of this course. These articles are about conflict management
styles in various organizations using Nigeria as a case study. The authors Kaban
Conar (2012) wrote this article Conflict Management and Visionary Leadership to
find efficient conflictmeasures to resolve conflict without harming institution targets
and activities. Prause and Mujtab (2015) looked into the current Current Management

Management Style on Conflict Effectiveness in Work Organization South Western
Nigeria with the purpose of ascertaining the relative impact of managerial strategy on
conflict resolution effectiveness towards ensuring sustainable organizational peace.
However, each of the authors presents a conflict style to control crises in the
organization. According to the authors there are many sources of organizational
conflict in Nigeria; however this situation presents great challenges on CEOs on
applicable measures on how to manage conflict. Most organizations in Nigeria have
difficulties managing employee conflict and therefore the need to introduce various
Pony Express History
Today, the way we communicate is easier and simpler. One can easily send a text
message or call someone for a faster reply. Sending a letter to someone is rarely a
form of communication these days due to the fact that it takes several days to send
the letter and another couple days to receive a reply. Before cellphones were even
invented, sending a letter was the only form of communication that was available.
This first form of mail service was called the Pony Express. It was called the Pony
Express because there was dozens of men riding horses across the country from one
city to another delivering mail. According to the Pony Express National Museum,
the Pony Express officially started on April 3, 1860 when the riders left at the same
time in Saint Joseph, Missouri and Sacramento, California. While the riders did not
actually ride across the country the 2,000 plus miles, they stopped at stations where
they could rest and another horse and rider could continue the journey, where they as

According to XP Pony Express, this station was named after Captain J. H. Simpson
who was one of the first to spend the night in this area. The station itself was not
created until the spring of 1860 (XP Pony Express). This station was one of the
first to be created for the Pony Express. One interesting event that took place in this
station was that it was raided and the station keeper was horribly murdered (XP
Pony Express). Extra protection was needed and was denied. The locals put
matters into their own hands and gathered their men to create a form of protection
(XP Pony Express). According to XP Pony Express, this station was most likely
used in the Overland Mail Route. This trail went from the eastern side of the country
to the western side and vice versa. The trail was intended to go from Saint Louis,

The Defense Of Marriage Act ( Doma )
In defense of marriage by John Corny, President Bill Clinton and the government
were able to approve the defense of marriage act (DOMA). DOMA is defined as
the union of a man and a woman which it was what mostly of the people consider to
be right. The main question is if people should continue this or change? The answer
is that many activists have been trying to change that definition. This changes has
already begun in many states of the country , and those who supported DOMA long
time ago, are not able to support marriagetoday. There is one thing that has never
become different, it is how people think a kid is best raised by a woman and a man.
However, today marriage appears to be in a general agreement that is being

Laws afford protection and equality to personal choices relating to marriage, barrier
methods for pregnancy, reproduction, family relationship, child care, and guidance.
Homosexual people may see self determination on these aspects, just as straight
people do. It doesn t take an expert or the government to be involved to understand
the definition of these words. The authority and the court specialists approve any
circumstance. Authorized academics are widely unfavorably opponents. The most
outstanding constitutional specialists on this matter are Cass Sunstein, Erwin
Chemerinksky, and William Eskridge They estimate that DOMA or other long
established marriage laws across the states will be unwelcome and unenforceable
as not in accordance with the constitution. In addition, the actions of disapproving
and eliminating long established marriage laws national has already started. A
spokesperson of the Lambda legal corporation which want to stop traditional
marriage laws across the states, clearly expressed that they won t give up until the
same sex or gender marriage come across the entire nation. Many other democrats
like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, and former presidential
candidates Howard Dean and Carol Moseley Braun , all of them have refused
DOMA as not in accordance with the constitution or with the rules and want DOMA
to be disproved or refuted by the judicature and with no fundamental or established set
of principles governing,
##flected The End Of Inequality And Segregation In...
Petrus Reflected the End of Inequality and Racial Segregation in Post Apartheid
South Africa
The setting of a novel is a crucial element that leads to the reader s understanding of
any political, social, or economical factors that the characters experience. We are first
introduced to Petrus when David, the protagonist, moves to South Africa to live with
his daughter Lucy. We would think that Petrus, or as he introduced himself to
David the gardener or dog man I look after the dogs and I work in the garden.
Yes...I am the gardener and the dog man. He reflects for a moment. The dog man, he
repeats, savouring the phrase. (Coetzee 64) would play a minor, insignificant
character, later develops a key role in the novel. Petrus becomes an important
example of change for blacks in South Africa after Apartheid. Disgrace, a novel by J.
M. Coetzee, reflects the ending of racial segregation and inequality in post apartheid
South Africa.
Disgrace is a novel that takes place in South Africa during post apartheid. As
Loxley mentions, The inequalities inherent in apartheid, and the weakness of the
role South Africa plays in the world economy, have combined to generate political
and economic instability (Loxley 1). This is slowly shifted throughout the novel
when we trace the actions of Petrus and his development in the novel. Not only is
inequality a factor, but as Fantu mentions, South Africa is a very unequal society,
consisting of a highly developed, first world sector on the one hand and an
underdeveloped, third world sector on the other. Racial and class differences
generally coincide; most members of the wealthy minority are white, and most
members of the poor majority are black (Fantu 1). This shift is underlyingly
noticeable when David arrives to South Africa and is greeted by Petrus.
Social status is an essential element in this novel. The social status of the characters
in this novel is frequently addressed. Through Petrus, we can see a shift not only
socially, but throughout the community and country. We learn Lucy owns a piece of
land that both her and Petrus work on, and that Petrus purchased a piece of it from
Lucy He got a Land Affairs grant earlier this year, enough to buy a hectare and a bit

Virtual Reality By Morton Heilig
Virtual reality is a computer generated three dimensional environment that allows
interaction. This field of digital art was originally explored and created by Morton
Heilig, who thought of extending the cinematic experience to something that would
involve the human senses and enable them to interact with it. Nevertheless, many
artists contributed to the development of the virtual realityafterwards. Scott Fisher,
who was inspired by Heilig s ideas, pushed the boundaries of the virtual reality, to
give the user more control over his experience. In this essay, I will be comparing
between the two artists and their ideas, and the way they contributed to the creation
and development of this form of art.

In other words, the user s body was coupled with the machine, which changed the user
experience from just sensing the elements from outside the virtual world, to existing
in the virtual world and having the ability to make changes physically.
In Fisher s earlier work Aspen Movie Map, and then in the head mounted viewer and
glove, he gave the user the ability to move and independently change their point of
view and navigate through the virtual environment, unlike Heilig s Sensorama where
the user was locked in the machine and has no control over anything.
Morton Heilig was the first to explore the concept of virtual reality, and is
considered to be the father and the creator of this field, even though his theories and
ideas were not heard or given much attention, he inspired a lot of artists and
engineer who came after him. Scott Fisher, who was inspired by Heiligs work and
ideas, developed the concept of virtual reality, into virtual immersive environments
and achieved the telepresence in his work. Thanks to those people, this field of
digital art is constantly developing and used in many different
Mayan Calendar Research Paper
There are around forty different calendars used in the world today, usually for
determining pious or religious events. Many countries like the United States use the
Gregorian calendar for their official and modern activities which they are able to
keep everyone organized. Over a thousand years ago in the fifth century the Mayans
came out with the first calendars. There are three types of basic calendars that are
being used today they are solar, lunar and the lunisolar/solilunar calendars. A solar
calendar can be identified by the Sun. This calendar is also based on Earths orbit
around the Sun. Lunar calendars are based on the moonrotation around the Earth.
This type of calendar is used usually for religious dates or purposes
(InpaperMagazine 2013). On the other hand, lunisolar or solilunar calendars connect
the two kinds and is basically solar calendars with dates indicating a moon phase.
The oldest known calendar was made by the Mayans. The Mayans of Central
America relied not only on the Sun and moon, but also on the planet Venus
(Misiroglu 2010).
They were very intelligent in mathematics and in astronomy. A stone tablet that was

The Confocal Microscopy And Microscopy
Abstract: 5 7 sentences
First; a brief introduction about the confocal microscopy, critical aspects of confocal
Microscopy, and the basic parts of the confocal microscope. It will follow by more
information about fluorescence microscopy which is used for study fixed and living
cells because of its versatility, specificity, and high sensitivity.
Introduction:
The Confocal Microscope is a type of microscope that is being developed for
obtaining high resolution images and 3D reconstruction. The images from the
confocal are far better then other microscopes; however, not quite as good as
fluorescent microscopes. The confocal shows the most fine details as possible in 3D;
the confocal microscopy offers several advantages over conventional wide field
optical microscopy, including the ability to control depth of field, elimination or
reduction of background information away from the focal plane (that leads to image
degradation), and the capacity to collect serial optical sections from thick specimens
[1]. The most significant value about the confocal microscope is the spatial filtering
techniques that terminate the glare and focus the substance into the view. As it has
been stated, there has been a tremendous explosion in the popularity of confocal
microscopy in recent years, due in part to the relative the ease with which extremely
high quality images can be obtained from specimens prepared for conventional
fluorescence microscopy, and the growing number of applications in

Counterculture In 1960s
In the 1960s a new group of young, long haired and wild people began to form in San
Francisco, California and soon spread throughout the rest of the country and then
developed around the world. Its origins may be traced to European social movement
in the 19th and early 20th century such as Bohemians, and the influence of Eastern
religion and spirituality. From around 1967, its fundamental ethos including harmony
with nature, communal living, artistic experimentation particularly in music, and the
widespread use of recreational drugs spread around the world during the
counterculture of the 1960s, which has become closely associated with the
subculture. These people were given the name known as hippies they were defined as

movement of the 1960s. At first, many things went wrong people didn t want any
hippies and drug addicts coming to the original location. About two months before
the concert new site had to be found but lucky organizers found a 600 acre farm
which was perfect also the organizers expected about 50,000 people but as the date
came nearer it became clear that far more people wanted to be at the event. A few
days before the festival began hundreds of thousands of pop and rock fans were on
their way to Woodstock. There were not enough gates and tickets were checked also
the fans made holes in the fences so lots of people just walked in. About 300,000 to

Identification And Identification For Children
Most research has been done in the area of facial recognition and not in
identification matching. Photo identification is used in a variety of situations. A
single picture is used for travel with passports or in the case of photo alerts for
missing children. Passports in Canada for children under sixteen are limited to a
maximum five year renewal period, differing from an adult passport that can have
up to ten years maximum (Government of Canada, n.d.). The five year maximum
renewal time may seem short when compared to adults, however, it may be too
long in the case of a growing child. This five year renewal period means that
passports of infants (those 12 months or younger) can be used to identify children up
to six years old. It is important to establish how long is too long for realistic
identificationby examining the factors that could hinder or aid identificationfor
children.
In 2015, there were 45,288 missing children reported in Canada (Government of
Canada, 2015). According to the FBI, the United States had over 460,000 reported
missing children in 2015 (NCMEC, n.d.). These are just the reported cases of missing
children, some children may not be reported as missing. In 2015, the Government of
Canada reported that nineteen children were victims of human trafficking, over one
hundred were parental abductions, almost thirty five thousand runaways and twenty
four were taken by strangers. These children can be found outside of Canada. One

Creative Advertising Campaign
Introduction: Chapter 1
1.1Why is it important to ask this question?
It is sometimes easy for consumers and advertisers to forget, but advertising
involves a whole ecosystem of creativity, copywriter and art director, planners and
Creative Directors, affiliates of the brand, via a plethora of other professionals and
professions in order for an idea to come to life and hit our TV screens, radio waves,
and any other medium available. With a perpetual flux of new technologies, media
and ways to market brands, it becomes increasingly important for Creatives to
understand their impact on the ways they can affect, and enhance, the creative
process in advertising. For industry veteran David Ogilvy, as for hopefully most ...

New technologies can enable advertisers to target their audiences not only as a
whole, but in segments, each creative strategy specifically catered to the different
particles that make up the audience. Digitization has enabled brands, as well as
advertisers, to quantify the successfulness of an advertising campaign. The amount
of clicks received, log ons entered, credit card details filled out, or even stars rated
on the back of an ad campaign can all determine how effective a creative idea has
been. The implications of this very specific knowledge are that marketing
strategies can more quickly adapt, improve and react to audiences, and advertising
agencies can be applauded for the success of their creative output. Similarly, if the
campaign flops, a brand can quickly drop an agency, or an agency can oust a
creative. To this end, understanding how new technologies will affect one s creativity
becomes critical to one s livelihood. 1.1A brief history
The individual, and the industry as a whole, needs to understand and embrace new
technology, as the latter is contingent on if not synonymous with advertising and its
constant strive to reinvent itself. Using the 20th century as a starting point, it is
obvious that the relationship between advertising and technology has been a
consistent, and at times bitter, one. Consistent, because from popular press all the
way through to the latest iPad App , advertisers have engaged

Grip and Arm Strength
Purpose Statement
Occupational health professionals consistently document the need for physical
testing upon application for physically demanding jobs. Decades of studies
suggest that physical fitness screening prior to job selection decreases workplace
injuries. Many of these studies prove specifically that a direct correlation exists
between one s strength and job performance. This case study examines such a
claim. It is an analysis of the impact arm strength (ARM) and hand grip (GRIP)
have on workers performance on the job (SIMS). So, can job performance be
predicted linearly by a combination of grip strength and arm strength? Therefore, the

Also, you risk injury to applicants who are not strong enough to do the job. A
solution to this problem is to develop a measure of physical ability that is easy and
quick to administer, does not risk injury, and is related to how well a person
performs the actual job. A study by Blakely, QuiГ±ones, and Jago (1995) published
in the journal Personnel Psychology reports on the research results of just such a
measure. That study, and this case study, looks at methods for determining if these
strength tests are related to performance on the job. The principles and methods
associated with this case study also apply to any number of variables other than
strength and job performance.
Definition of Variables
The dependent variable will be work/job performance and the two independent
variables are grip (GRIP) and arm (ARM) strength and two measures of strength
were gathered from each participant. A piece of equipment known as the Jackson
Evaluation System (JES) was used to collect the strength data. The JES can be
configured to measure the strength of a number of muscle groups. In this study, grip
strength and arm strength were measured. For each of the tests, the participant was
asked to exert as much force as they could for a period of 2 seconds. The equipment
then measured the maximum force exerted in pounds (lbs.). Since there is little to no
Steroids In Baseball Essay
Steroids have taken over the game of baseball and more players are starting to get
involved with them. Steroids are a big part of the Major League today in 2014, yet
they entered the game of baseball through trainer Curtis Wenzlaff in 1992. Players
and the game s images are ravaged when they become caught up in steroids. Some
of the best players to ever play the game of baseball have been caught up in steroids,
including Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire. Players with this level of
skill are supposed to be role models for younger kids, yet younger kids see that they
used steroids and are tempted to use them. When their young, impressionable minds

Also, steroids can cause men s testicals to shrink (Mitchell 55). Baseball players
who use steroids are so mentally focused on the positive effects of steroids that they
forget to think about the negative effects on mental health, the liver, the
cardiovascular system, and the reproductive system. The main type of steroids
causing all this chaos to the body are called Anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids are
used the most often in Major League Baseball (MLB). The reasons why MLB
players get caught up in Anabolic steroids is because they have so much pressure
on them to hit home runs, get on base, and entertain. To help them cope with their
pressure, they turn to Anabolic steroids because of the fast gains and positive
impacts players experience after treatment. This is a positive for baseball fans,
who have seen an increase in home runs hit; for example, in just a five year span
between 1961 and 1996, there was an increase of nine players who hit at least forty
home runs in just one season. Anabolic steroids also make one s hands faster and
they increase muscle in areas like the pectorals and forearms. When players are
going through a slump and they hear about all of these benefits of Anabolic steroids,
they are tempted by this easy fix. Despite all of these positives, negatives also come
with steroid use. Anabolic steroids can be taken two different ways by injection,

Olympic Games And Its Impact On Society
Sports have played a major role in society for as far back as dated history goes.
Today s greatest sporting events capture the interest of billions of people. No one
sporting event is greater than the Summer Olympic games, for it brings together
athletes from all across the globe to compete and represent their respected nations.
Winning an Olympic gold medal can create a widespread feeling of patriotism and

catastrophic disaster. Consequently, the following will reveal the 1972 Munich
Summer Olympic Gamestragedy and the ramifications of its build up, the event, and
the lasting effects on society.
The events that occurred at the 1972 Olympics were the result of a long conflict
between Palestinian Arabs and Israeli Jews dating to the end of the nineteenth
century. The two nations have contrasting religious beliefs and conflict broke out
between them for who had the ownership of a strip of land that both states
considered to be holy. From the end of World War I until 1948, the area that both
groups claimed was known internationally as Palestine. Following the war of 1948
1949, this land was divided into three parts: The State of Israel, the West Bank (of the
Jordan River) and the Gaza Strip. It is a small area approximately 10,000 square
miles, or about the size of the state of Maryland. Both nations cited historical
religious evidence for why the land should belong to them and no solution could be

The Country of Rwanda
In the depths of Central Africa lies the country of Rwanda, where its geography is
exotic and diverse from one area to the next. It has a chaotic history, which led to
one of the biggest genocides ever. Its political system for the last few years has been
identical to the one in America. Its economy is going strong, with an abundance of
money being earned from their different types of exports. Along with Rwanda s rich

Major Influences On German Baroque Music
1. One of the major influences on German Baroque music was the church and the
other major influence was the state. Germany at that time wasn t how it is now.
Germany was composed of small states and each of those small states had its own
Court. In some rare cases it also had Court Musicians. The composers salary
depended on their status and if they had the support of a king or prince.
2. Bach s music had different forms and styles that came together and were brought
to perfection. He brought baroque music to the peak of its development. He left 48
Preludes and Fugues. This meant the keyboard would adopt a new equal
temperament which made enabled all keys to be played equally.

Arguments For Christian Faith

Reasonable Christian Faith
Christian faith lies between the two extremes of fideism and rationalism, that is,
between faith with no reason and reason with no faith. Scripture, the main source of
Christian tradition, provides us with information about God and what it means to be
Christian. An analysis of works and arguments by early church fathers offers tools to
engage scripture, including levels of belief and defining faith in the context of society
and moderation. Specifically, Augustine and McCabe present arguments concerning
faith in the validity of scripture and proofs that a belief in Christianity is reasonable
and true. Therefore, a valid assertion can be made that reason plays an important and
necessary role in Christian faith.
In his essay, Faith in Things Unseen , Augustine argues against the idea that it is
irrational to have a belief in things that one cannot see. He discusses how it is
normal and legitimate to hold beliefs in the unseen, and that the human mind by
default will believe things that are not able to be seen. For example, Augustine uses
the idea that most people will trust in the goodwill of their friends, even though
goodwill cannot be seen. Furthermore, goodwill and the trust in that goodwill must
come before two people can even be friends. Therefore, it is legitimate to have faith
in Christian belief as it can be supported by the same reason as friendship, or so
Augustine asserts.
Along with that faith
Eli Lilly Ranbaxy joint venture Essay
Executive Summary The Eli Lilly Ranbaxy joint venture allowed both Eli Lilly and
Ranbaxy as separate companies to grow and expand as one venture. The support and
reliability that both companies had with one another allowed for a strong business
relationship to form which led to the same business strategy vision and goals. This
joint venture eliminated trade with other companies for the same thing that one
another could share to become one of the largest and most successful pharmaceutical
companies in the Indian market. The problem that Eli Lilly Ranbaxy was being
exposed to was a plateau of success with a joint venture and the thoughts of separating

Eli Lilly was approached by a leading pharmaceutical firm in India to consider
building a joint venture together. Ranbaxy Laboratories began as a family business in
the 1960 s, but with strong entrepreneurial skills the company grew to become one of
the largest manufacturers for bulk drugs and generic drugs. The two companies
considered pursuing a joint venture that would support on another s products by
supplying one other with ingredients to complete company products without having
to trade with other companies internationally. The JV would potentially lead both
companies, together to become a dominant force in the Indian market. In 1993 the
two companies decided to build a joint venture called Eli Lilly Ranbaxy JV that had a
common business strategy and the intention to focus on high ethical standards,
technology, and innovation. The JV focused directly on the Indian market since
Ranbaxy had an existing relationship with the Indian Pharmaceutical Market they
were able to continue exploring potential clients and business relationships. Ranbaxy
alone was a very well known pharmaceutical company that had a large distribution
network and was able to easily obtain government approvals, licenses, distribution and
supplies. The advantages to this joint venture are the work ethic by both company s
senior management teams as well as the previous relationships that
The Importance of Liszt’s Sonata in B Minor
The music piece The reason why this composition is important is because it is an
answer to one of the issues discussed in The War of the Romantics, which was about
the sonata. Liszt chose to modify and develop the form instead of keeping to the
form the composers used to compose by in the classical era ( Liszt, Franz ).
Britannica explains the sonata formas coming from the binary form, however, the
sonata form is more complex. The binary form has two parts and the form is held
together by the themes... tonalities, or keys, the particular sets of notes and chords
used in each part (Britannica). The first part is played twice and it ends in the same
key as the second part starts with, which makes the second part complete the first
part. The sonata form, is usually written A B, and the exposition is in the first part,
the A section, and the development and recapitulation is in the second part, the B
section. The exposition is in the original key and has contrasting musical statements
(Britannica). After the A section and the exposition, the composition moves on to the
B section, and the development that begins in another key, then the development goes
through an amount of new keys where the musical statements are ... combined,
broken up, recombined, and otherwise brought into change and conflict (Britannica).
The recapitulation then brings the composition back to the original key. (Britannica)

Respiratory Pharmacology Alupent
Respiratory Pharmacology Alupent Alupent is also known metaproterenol sulfate
USP; a generic name. It is an inhalant that is administered orally. It is composed of a
micronized powder that is good for 100 inhalations per tube. While inhalants are
more common, it can also be administered intravenously. This is mostly used when a
woman is going to give birth and needs her uterusto contract. The ingredients include
dicholodifluoromethane, dichlorotetrafluoroethane, tricholomonofluoromethane, and
sorbitan trioleate. It is used to treat bronchial spasms in patients with COPD,
bronchitis, emphysema, and chronic asthmatic conditions. Each dose must be
carefully prescribed because of specific symptoms and their counteractions. This is an
adrenergic drug because it stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, which
stimulates the ОІ2 receptors. These receptors consist of adenyl cyclase, which is an
enzyme that converts ATP to cAMP. These cAMP levels relax the smooth muscles
inside of the bronchial tree. They also inhibit the release the mediators of
hypersensitivity from mast cells. If taken with any other sympathetic drugs, it may
ruin its cardiovascular effects. These ОІ2 receptors may also end up antagonizing
metaproterenol which is the main ingredient included in Alupent. This is the reason
that it needs to be administered with caution. Also, only about... Show more content

The Effects Of Maternal Age On Offspring Health
Due to a combination of factors such as better access to contraceptives, the age at
which a fathers first child is conceived has followed an upward trend in recent
years. Lots of research has been done into the effect of maternal age on offspring
health, with the public s general knowledge of the link between Trisomy 21 and
maternal age testimony to this, however the risks that increased paternal age
imply are less well documented and well known. Increasing paternal age has in
fact been linked to several birth defects, of which the focus of this essay will be on
genetic mutations leading to a combination of physical and neuro cranial diseases.
Paternal Age Effect (PAE) describes the phenomenon of offspring of older fathers
having an increased chance of suffering from certain spontaneous genetically based
disorders. Most of these diseases associated with the father s age are autosomally
dominant, produced by de novo point mutations in a father s germline mainly by
base substitution. The effect arises due to spermatogenesis, in contrast to oogenesis,
happening constantly throughout a males life, therefore allowing sperm cells to
accumulate a greater number of cell divisions. So a 40 year old males sperm has
undergone as many as 25 times as many chromosome replications as an egg, whereas
the sperm of a 20 year old man only around 7 times as many (1). This means they
have had more opportunity to experience a disrupted mitotic/meiotic division, leading
to them being more
Diesel vs Gas Essay
Gasoline vs. Diesel
You re in the market for a new truck; you have an idea about what you want but not
quite sure if you want a gasoline or a diesel engine. Well, gas and diesel engines are
very similar yet different in quite a few ways.
At first glance, someone who doesn t know much about either of the two engines
might ask, What s the difference? To the untrained eye they might look exactly alike,
but don t judge the engine by its exterior look.
Gas engines are mainly used by the individual in personal vehicles whereas diesels
are very popular in the commercial and industrial fields. Diesel engines are used by
the navy in their ships and by the army in their tanks and big trucks. Some of the
main reasons for choosing this engine are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The continuing rotation of the crankshaft drives the piston back up, ready for the
next cycle. The piston moves in a reciprocating motion, which is converted into
circular motion of the crankshaft, which ultimately propels the car. Gas engines
usually have about the same about of horsepower as they do torque. The diesel engine
usually has twice as much torque as it does horsepower, thus it is the better hill
climber and load carrier.
As you might have noticed, diesel engines have a harder time starting in cold
weather compared to gas engines due to the fact that gas engines have an electrical
started system. Gas engines rely on fuel, air and spark to ignite whereas diesel
engines rely on heat and compression to initiate spontaneous combustion.
Some of the more obvious differences are the prices for fuel. As of now, March 2011,
the price for diesel is significantly higher than gas. Gas is approaching the range of
$3.40 per gallon to $3.70 per gallon (depending on what part of the country you re
in, it could be higher than that). Diesel, on the other hand, is nearing $4.00 per
gallon and quickly rising. I remember 7 or 8 years ago when diesel was cheaper than
gas, and gas was just above $1.00 per gallon.
Overall, I would say the diesel engine is the better of the two. Of course it all
depends on the usage and perhaps the price of the vehicle but overall the diesel
engine is more rugged and reliable, long lasting, stronger, more efficient and requires

Abortion By Judith Jarvis Thomson
Thomson s example shows that he is in support of the woman and her having the
right to say no. She has the right to walk away and say no to the violinist, even if
this means he dies. It is her body, and she did not give the violinist permission to
use it. The woman and the violinist are examples of rape in this case. If a man
physically rapes a woman, and she becomes pregnant, she has a right to an abortion
because she has not given the man or the fetus the right to use her body. Although the
abortion will kill the fetus, the woman s action is not unjust because the fetus did not
have the right to use her body. Now, if the woman voluntarily gave the violinist
permission to use her body for about nine months or years, and halfway through she
A Brief Look at Genesis
Genesis
The author of Genesis is anonymous but most scholars attribute its composure to
Moses. Genesis is believed to have been dated to around 1445 BC (Illustrated
Bible Survey an Introduction, 2013).Genesis is part of the Pentateuch or 5 scrolls
(Illustrated Bible Survey an Introduction, 2013). It was written for the Israelites to
understand their history and creation. Genesis is the beginning. This book begins
at our creation. It describes our creation and purpose. The creation of the world
and its inhabitants and expansive space (i.e. other planets, galaxies and stars) is all
discussed within its pages. We see where we began and how we ended up where
we are, living a sin nature. It discusses our fall and original sin. Adam and Eve God
s original creation sinned and were exiled from the Garden of Eden. We see the
God s judgment in the flood. This is where God sees our evil and floods the Earth
only sparing Noah and his family. Our foolish acts that lead to various languages
and nations from the tower of Babel can be found in Genesis 10:1 11:9. The
patriarchs of the Bible begin here. The stories of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph
can be found within Genesis. This is the creation of the covenant relationship with
God. The Abrahamic Covenant begins here in Genesis 12:1 13 (Illustrated Bible

Rational Actor Model
There are many different models to explore why young people offend; Rational
Actor, Predestined Actor and Victimised Actor (Stephenson M and Allen R. 2013).
In exploring two of these models I will be using a case example CH. In looking at
CH offending behaviour, it could be viewed that he fits in to the Rational Actor
model. This model explores the idea that young people had the choice to offend; CH
woke up and made the choice to go and rob someone in order to obtain money to get
cannabis. The benefit of the offending behaviour out weights the consequences; CH s
need to get high out weight the consequences of being arrested for a serious offence
which could lead to custody. With this in mind the view of tacking offending
behaviour of a young person that fits with the Rational Actor is that the punishment
must out weight the benefits of the behaviour and must become harsher, greater and
more serious as the offending escalates; options for sentencing was DTO (Detention
and training Order) for a significant length of time or Youth Rehabilitation Order with
Intense supervision (YRO 25 hours a week). Adapted from Hopkins Burke (2008: 88)
the five points the Rational Actor model: Humans are rational beings who enjoy free
will. People choose to engage in criminal behaviour. Society must punish criminals to
deter individuals wrongdoers and other would be criminals. Punishment should be
proportional to the offence committed. Punishment must be guaranteed and
How Diversity Is Important For A Successful Organization
In this modern era due to globalization world became a global village in the trade,
economy, financial and marking. So people travel one country to another country
with their culture and languages for work and trade and this make the multi culture in

Am I wrong for calling the Black Star Elephant album by Nico Vinz one of the best
pop albums of 2014? I believe am not wrong. That album was a masterpiece and
they continue in its successful footsteps with their latest song that features Bebe

Bebe Rexha does the second verse and she had the best verse for me. The lady on
the song killed it. You were the man in college / got a degree in awesome / and had
more zeros in your bank than all the matrix coding, sings Bebe. Pretty impressive
right? Hell yeah. Bebe definitely had the most exciting verse on the song. Nico Vinz
come back for the third verse then Kid Ink does the last verse.
Kid Ink continues to display an exceptional level of comfort with any style of music
he is invited to feature on. From the guitar the song is sang on, it is hard to
imagine what Kid Ink s verse would flow like but Kid Ink imposingly laid his
verse. The flow was well paced to match the guitar and the lyrics also demonstrate
the perfect that s how you know you f**ked up situation. The final chorus comes in
after his verse and Bebe adds superb background vocals for this one. Her vocals will
send chills allover your body they are that amazing.

turned out and if you messed it up, the entire group will have to sing for you the
chorus of this song. It would be perfect for that occasion. Nico Vinz continue to give
us music that s not only entertaining, but educative and fun to listen to, sing along to
and relate to. This is another incredible song from the
Social Constraints Of Medicalization
Health is the state of complete physical, mental and social well being not just the
absence of disease (Barr, 2014). Persons of lower economic status, minorities and
women tend to have lower levels of health due to social constraints. Also, over the
past thirty years America has become increasing medicalized. Medicalization is the
process in which nonmedical problems become defined and treated as medical
problems in the form of illnessand disorders which has led to the increase in medical
professional dominance (Conrad, 2007). Due to social constraints and medicalization
in America, we see health disparities among persons of lower socio economic status,
minorities and women.
Since medicalization started it has increased the dominance of medical professionals.
Medical professionals have identified new medical illnesses that relate to behavior,
psychic state and body conditions and given them medical diagnosis and treatment,
such as ADHD, alcoholism, PTSD and erectile dysfunction. Thirty years ago, these
conditions were not heard of and received no medical attention (Conrad, 2007). In the
1970 s, Paul Starr and Michel Foucault, started focusing on collecting data through
scientific instrumentation (Barker, 2005). This became known as the medical gaze,
in which medical professional were able to use instrumentation to look into the secret
depths of the human body to discover our illnesses (Barker, 2005). Before the
increase use of instrumentation, medical professionals
Iceland s Impact On The Economy
. Iceland had a shorter, less severe recession after its banking crises than did
Ireland. The most prominent difference is their exchange rate regimes. Iceland s
flexible exchange rate allowed Icelandic government to come up with rapid
resolution of its banking crisis without bailing out creditors. Iceland s combination
of a flexible exchange rate and a policy of closing its failed banks appears to have
served the country well in the aftermath of the financial crisis.
Banking crises in Iceland and Ireland came to a head at the height of the financial
crisis in September and October 2008. These countries took quite different
approaches in dealing with these difficulties. Ireland and Iceland are small island

A substantial part of the expansion of the banks loan portfolios were loans
collateralized by Icelandic corporate stock. As a result, the value of Icelandic stock
was an important determinant of the value of the banks loans and, therefore, assets.
The value of shares rose and then peaked in mid July 2007. By July 2008, share
prices had fallen to less than half their value at the peak. This loss in collateral value
naturally called into question the probability of lenders being able to repay their loans.
The expansion of banking in Iceland reflected growth of both domestic and foreign

The banks increased their funding by obtaining short term loans from other financial

The Question Concerning Technology Heidegger Summary
In his article, The Question Concerning Technology , Martin Heidegger is trying to
spread awareness about the steps humanity is taking on the road towards technology
today, and is making the kind of dangers technology it brings with it more apparent.
Throughout the essay he writes about how concepts such as bringing forth,
challenging, standing reserve and granting all of them lead to a concept of revealing.
If we follow Heidegger s definition of technologyas form of revealing, technology, in
its essence, can be said to be a form. It can be a form because it is a bringing forth
in which fate let[s] what is not yet present [to] arrive into presencing, (Technology
and Values chapter 9 99) into the order of the presence or the real, For if people
understand Heidegger correctly, the essence of technology, then, is the graceful
process of bringing something forth into presence and, as a mode of revealing a
world that has clarified the process. Heidegger takes us... Show more content on

The essence of technology as enframings precisely as technological enframing, is
an enframing that reduces the original process of revealing. That is to say,
technological enframing in today s technology reveals the world, as a thing to be
used, what Heidegger describes as a standing reserve. In the development of
everyday life, experience becomes technologically enframed, which for Heidegger
denies man to enter into a more original revealing... to experience the call of a more
primal truth. (Hanks 2010 chapter 9 107) This quote emphasizes that technology is
taking over everything whether it s that it reduces the original process of revealing or
that Heidegger compares technology to a standing reserve. In the article, Heidegger
states, The word standing reserve assumes the rank of an inclusive rubric. It
designates nothing less that the way in which everything presences that is wroth

Romanticism In Film
Romanticism was a movement that started in the 1700 s that focused on emphasizing
pathos, inspiration, individualism and superiority. Most films have a dimension of
romance between a main character and a supporting character. A romance film is any
film that the central storyline features the romantic involvement of two characters.
Many romantic films do not have fairy tale stories or happy endings, although love
serves as a shield against the harshness of the real world. Romantic films often
elaborate the main theme of love at first sight. Romanticism refers back to the
romantic characters of the Middle Ages and also modern films. Romantic love on
film is a universal human experience that produces intensely powerful, strong
feelings. Romantic Literature has had a strong influence on modern day films
through pathos, folklore, and love. Pathos is a communication technique used most
often in rhetoric, and in literature, film and other narrative. Pathos is a appeal to the
emotions of the person, and elicits feelings that already reside in them. Pathos is also
a communication technique used most often in rhetoric, and in literature, film and
movies. Disney has perfected the art of using pathos to popularize their many hit
movies. Essentially, Disney plays on the feelings of their audience to create emotional
connections between them and the characters. Some movies for an example would
be snow white, cinderella, lion king, tarzan, the little mermaid, beauty and the beast,
Differences In Blue Penguin By Dr. Seuss And Blue Penguins
Discrimination has been present in society since ancient times. Discrimination is the
theme of the books, The Sneetches and Other Stories by Dr. Seuss and Blue Penguin
by Petr HorГЎДЌek. These two books with a difference of more than fifty years
show us, as some of its characters, Blue Penguin from the book Blue penguin, and a
group of plain belly Sneetches from the book The Sneetches and Other Stories are
similarly discriminated, but they face the situation differently. Blue penguin accepts
himself and the plain belly Sneetches, unlike the blue penguin, try to be like the star
belly Sneetches.
The story of the Sneetches and the story of the Blue penguin are both charming. One
was written in 1961 and the other in 2015. Both stories with their wonderful
characters teach us about the influence of discrimination. The sneetches made a
mistake trying to change their appearances to fit in the society in which they lived
but in the end, both stories showed that it is never too late to change and begin to
accept others and more important to accept ourselves. On the other hand, there is the
story of the blue penguin who was a strong penguin but he was constantly
discriminated by the other penguins to the point of wanting to leave the South Pole.
Blue Penguin never wanted to change its appearance or its way of being, unlike the
sneetches he always accepted himself. as a result, the other penguins had to accept
him the way he was.

One type of chronic disease that numerous individuals must live with is diabetes,
which has two types. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA),
diabetes type 1 is also known as juvenile diabetes and occurs when the individual s
body lacks insulin, the hormone needed to properly distribute glucose. On the other
hand type 2 is due to insulinresistance, which occurs when the body cannot produce
enough insulin to keep glucose levels in the blood stream under control (ADA).
Etiology is the cause of, or investigation to find the cause of, a disease or condition.
Similarly with other diseases, diabetes is caused by a multitude of factors, not one
sole reason. Both forms of diabetes are a public health issue because these conditions

The Mentality Of Stoicism In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery, she describes a town that holds a drawing that
stones a person once a year because it is a tradition. In Epictetus The Handbook, he
lays out the idea systems that stoics live by. A Stoic believes to let things happen as
they happen and do not let emotions control the decisions that someone makes.
Stoicismdisplays characteristics of preparing oneself before an important event
happens, someone disassociating themselves from the pain someone experiences
when they lose a loved one. Stoicism displays characteristics of preparing oneself
before an important event happens, someone disassociating themselves from the pain

Jackson s the Lottery display the mentality of stoic teachings from EpictetusThe

Their Relation to Ethics, how one can avoid failures and disappointments and how
one can keep or attain an undisturbed and well poised emotional state (Bobbie 80).
The characters in The Lottery relate to the stoicism beliefs taught by Epictetus in his

value being recognized as wealthy elites having a high social status. Secondly, ever
since their opening LVMH had an exclusively unique heritage and craftsmanship, that
made the brand so attractive for the customers. Another reason why the Chinese
people love Louis Vuitton is the fact that having an overcrowded and communist
society they feel the need to be noticed, to be perceived as different. That is the point
that Louis Vuitton knew how to exploit in order to make them feel unique and...

4. How does LVMH encourage Chinese customers to purchase LVMH products in
China rather than abroad? Do you think that these strategic initiatives will be
successful? Why or why not? What other ideas do you think LVMH should pursue to
encourage Chinese customers to purchase LVMH products in China?
One of the main reasons why Chinese customers prefer to shop abroad is the fact
that it is seen as a better show off and also the prices tend to be lower due to the
taxes that are applied for luxury products in China. No matter the fact that the sales
of their products in other locations than China bring them important profits in
Europe, LVMH is still trying to redirect the Chinese people to buy their products in
China. One of the measures they took in this aim was to limit the number of leather
products available on the LVMH European market and also limit the working hours
in their stores in certain European locations such as Paris, which is one of the most
wanted and perceived as the most preferred shopping destination.
On the other hand, they are doing all their best to assure premium services in the
Chinese stores, so that no matter the price differences that may interfere, the
customers would still be satisfied with the special treatment and attention they receive
in the stores and also
Essay On Pyrazole As Therapeutic Agent
In addition to the above uses of pyrazole as therapeutic agent, it has recently been
recognized to have modulatory effect on UPR, especially for the treatment of
cancers and other diseases. The benzyl pyrazole derivative HSF1A, a small
molecule activator of HSF 1, was identified in a yeast based high throughput screen
(72). Induction of chaperones by HSF1A was shown to reduce proteinmisfolding and
aggregation mediated toxicity in cellular and fly models of polyQ related diseases,
and to activate HSF 1 in Drosophila and mammalian cells without inhibition of
Hsp90 activity or causing proteotoxicity. Rather, HSF1A was suggested to interact
with the cytosolic TCP 1 ring complex (TRiC). This proposed mechanism of action

CNB 001 also increases eIF2 phosphorylation and HSP90 and ATF4 levels, and limits
the accumulation of soluble AОІand ubiquitinated aggregated proteins (80). Pyrazolyl

human tumors including AML. s. Treatment with 4f reduced both B cell lymphoma

that 4f induced apoptosis (81).
Ceapins, a class of pyrazole amides have ability to inhibit the processing of
ATF6О± by S1P and S2P in response to ER stress. It was demonstrated by probing
each step of ATF6О± activation that these ceapins prevent selection of ATF6О± into
COPII vesicles by retaining it in place in the ER membrane. In presence of ceapins,it
was shown that ATF6О± restores the cleavage by removing the requirement for
trafficking that involves bringing together substrate and proteases. Rapid clustering
of ATF6О± has been shown to be induced by Ceapins that depicts that the oligomeric
state of ATF6О± has to play a key role
Disadvantages Of Megacities
Overview
Cities exist because of the benefits of centralized production and exchange. By living
and working in cities, we achieve a higher standard of living but also put up with
pollution, noise and congestion. (O Sullivan, 2012)
Megacities are large and highly dynamic systems, and represent concentrated sites of
human life as well as ecological stress and pollution. Due to the combination of
pollution and stress as neighbourhoods grow in size and their resource capacity, the
transformation in social environmental relations is also observed. Over time more
local environmental hazards associated with inadequate services and sanitation is
being replaced by risks that accrue at the city scale. Most megacities are important
nodes in the production of pollution and greenhouse emissions which have negative
impacts on populations at regional and also global scales. Historically coastal
megacities have recorded some of the highest economic losses due to disaster events
but megacities are also the centres of capacity, ingenuity and resources. The
management of hazards, vulnerability and environmental management in megacities
is very complex, and governance responses require special attention to the multiple
scales of impact. (Mark Pelling, 2013)

Automobiles contribution is reported to account for 40 to 80% of the total air
pollution in megacities. The challenge Megacities face is how to reduce the adverse
environmental impacts and other negative effects of transportation without giving up
the benefits of mobility. This becomes more pressing under conditions of rapid urban
growth, which is likely to increase travel demand significantly. (S. K. Goyal,
The Impact Of Coffeehouse Culture On The Development
Of...
From the early sixteenth century to the Industrial Revolution, coffee houses spread
from the Middle East throughout Europe and grew into important political,
economic, and social institutions. This paper will be about the role that coffeehouses
played in developing and promoting these concepts and compare the ways in which
they gave rise to organizations such as the London Stock Exchange and Lloyd s of
London. This paper pays specific attention to the impact of coffeehouseculture on the
development of these concepts. Great Introduction.
English coffeehouses in the 17th and 18th centuries were public social places where
[who?] would meet for conversation and commerce while drinking coffee. For the
price of a penny, customers purchased a cup of coffee and admission. Travelers
introduced coffee as a beverage to England during the mid 17th century; previously it
had been consumed mainly for its supposed medicinal properties. The historian Brian
Cowan describes English coffeehouses as places where people gathered to drink
coffee, learn the news of the day, and perhaps to meet with other local residents and
discuss matters of mutual concern. (insert citation)
Coffeehouses also played an important role in the development of financial markets
and newspapers. Historians often associate English coffeehouses, during the 17th and
18th centuries, with the intellectual and cultural history of the Age of Enlightenment:
they were an alternate sphere , supplementary to the university.
Essay Legalization of Marijuana
Legalization of Marijuana Several topics in modern day society cause controversy,
but one topic that out ranks them all is the legalization of marijuana. The main
argument is whether not marijuana should be treated the same as already legalized
drugs, such as tobacco and alcohol. Many Americans use marijuana illegally; the
people using the drug range from the age of teens to even adults in their eighties.
Marijuana is considered by most, especially in legal terms, as a dangerous drug.
Although the drug is seen as such, many still continue to use it and argue it should be
legalized for several reasons. Both citizens and government officials alike debate this
topic. To successfully develop and argument for the legalization of marijuana... Show

Furthermore, several key terms relating to the topic, help clarify the issue. The terms
one must be aware of to understand to the topic are the several different names that
are used for marijuana. These names include: weed, Mary Jane , pot, dope, cannabis,
reefer, and many slang words. While there are several names for the drug, marijuana
is the most commonly used name and is the name used throughout most documents
referring to the debate. Gateway drug is a term used throughout the argument of
whether the drug should be legalized or not. A gateway drug is a drug that is used
to push a person to do more harmful and destructive drugs. Gateway drug is a term
used by those opposing the legalization of marijuana to show its destructiveness.
Another term is mind alerting substance. This term is thrown around on both sides of
the issue. A mind altering substance is something g that cause one to loose judgment
and common sense, something that literally affects the brain and its functions.
These terms must be understood to be able to fallow the arguments throughout the
issue. The legalization of marijuana is argued by all people from teenagers
debating in a school function to senators arguing over a proposed bill. Marijuana is
an illicit drug that thousands of people want to legalize for many reasons, personally
and morally. It is also a drug that thousands of people want the status to be the same
as it
The War On Terror ( Wot )
The War on Terror (WoT), also known as the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT),
refers to the international military campaign that started after the September 11
attacks on the United States.[47]
U.S. President George W. Bush first used the term War on Terror on 20 September
2001.[47] The Bush administration and the western media have since used the term
to argue a global military, political, legal, and conceptual struggle against both
organizations designated terrorist and regimes accused of supporting them. It was
originally used with a particular focus on countries associated with Islamic terrorism
organizations including al Qaeda and like minded organizations.
In 2013, President Barack Obama announced that the United States was no longer
pursuing a War on Terror, as the military focus should be on specific enemies rather
than a tactic. He stated, We must define our effort not as a boundless Global War on
Terror , but rather as a series of persistent, targeted efforts to dismantle specific
networks of violent extremists that threaten America. [48]
The phrase War on Terror has been used to specifically refer to the ongoing military
campaign led by the U.S., UK and their allies against organizations and regimes
identified by them as terrorist, and excludes other independent counter terrorist
operations and campaigns such as those by Russia and India. The conflict has also
been referred to by names other than the War on Terror.
In 1984, the Reagan Administration used
Essay on Run Lola Run Analysis
As the film Run Lola Run has a multiform narrative structure, it is separated into
three sections in which Lola is able to repeat her journey from the beginning. The
repetition of the run in which we see the same scene three times is an example of
how Lola s journey is similar to the likes of a video game. This works to emphasise
the fact that her life can just be rewinded and restarted just like video games. Even
though, in real life we cannot travel back it time, the repetition of the run sequence
shows mistakes are fixed by going back to the root of the problem. Throughout the
movie, the background music is similar to the music that is heard in fast paced,
action based video games, the music is fast paced and creates suspense, which... Show

The contrast of the large truck with the visually smaller Lola is used to show how
close she came to being destroyed by this machine. This works to emphasise how
luck gave her another chance to live and it was really because of chance that she is
able to continue with her journey. This is similar to many occurrences in life such
as death occurrences which people have no explanation for besides luck and
chance. Another technique used is a long distance shot of Lola in front of the big
truck with the casino presents her a great opportunity to fulfil her journey to get
the money she needs. This is used to show how chance is not always bad but may
also lead to opportunities that will be beneficial in the future. Continuing on with
the notion of chance and luck, Lola ends up at the casino and is completely
oblivious on how to gamble. By chance again, she walks to a roulette table and bets
on the number 20. The close up shot of the roulette table, spinning and coming to a
stop shows suspense when Lola was about to win. This works to place importance
on the actual object of chance which in the real world is all casino games. The film
is showing how just like Lola s life afterwards depends on the small play of chance,
many of our live depend on other games of chance. Life is essentially a game of
chance which affects an individual s personal fate through our own actions as well as
others.
The film Run Lola Run explores the idea that in life, individuals gain

  • 3. Pony Express History Today, the way we communicate is easier and simpler. One can easily send a text message or call someone for a faster reply. Sending a letter to someone is rarely a form of communication these days due to the fact that it takes several days to send the letter and another couple days to receive a reply. Before cellphones were even invented, sending a letter was the only form of communication that was available. This first form of mail service was called the Pony Express. It was called the Pony Express because there was dozens of men riding horses across the country from one city to another delivering mail. According to the Pony Express National Museum, the Pony Express officially started on April 3, 1860 when the riders left at the same time in Saint Joseph, Missouri and Sacramento, California. While the riders did not actually ride across the country the 2,000 plus miles, they stopped at stations where they could rest and another horse and rider could continue the journey, where they as well would... The station itself was not created until the spring of 1860 (XP Pony Express). This station was one of the first to be created for the Pony Express. One interesting event that took place in this station was that it was raided and the station keeper was horribly murdered (XP Pony Express). Extra protection was needed and was denied. The locals put matters into their own hands and gathered their men to create a form of protection (XP Pony Express). According to XP Pony Express, this station was most likely used in the Overland Mail Route. This trail went from the eastern side of the country to the western side and vice versa. The trail was intended to go from Saint Louis, Missouri to San Francisco, California (National Park
  • 4. The Defense Of Marriage Act ( Doma ) In defense of marriage by John Corny, President Bill Clinton and the government were able to approve the defense of marriage act (DOMA). DOMA is defined as the union of a man and a woman which it was what mostly of the people consider to be right. The main question is if people should continue this or change? The answer is that many activists have been trying to change that definition. This changes has already begun in many states of the country , and those who supported DOMA long time ago, are not able to support marriagetoday. There is one thing that has never become different, it is how people think a kid is best raised by a woman and a man. However, today marriage appears to be in a general agreement that is being complicated.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Laws afford protection and equality to personal choices relating to marriage, barrier methods for pregnancy, reproduction, family relationship, child care, and guidance. Homosexual people may see self determination on these aspects, just as straight people do. It doesn t take an expert or the government to be involved to understand the definition of these words. The authority and the court specialists approve any circumstance. Authorized academics are widely unfavorably opponents. The most outstanding constitutional specialists on this matter are Cass Sunstein, Erwin Chemerinksky, and William Eskridge They estimate that DOMA or other long established marriage laws across the states will be unwelcome and unenforceable as not in accordance with the constitution. In addition, the actions of disapproving and eliminating long established marriage laws national has already started. A spokesperson of the Lambda legal corporation which want to stop traditional marriage laws across the states, clearly expressed that they won t give up until the same sex or gender marriage come across the entire nation. Many other democrats like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, and former presidential candidates Howard Dean and Carol Moseley Braun , all of them have refused DOMA as not in accordance with the constitution or with the rules and want DOMA to be disproved or refuted by the judicature and with no fundamental or established set of principles governing,

Petrus Reflected the End of Inequality and Racial Segregation in Post Apartheid South Africa The setting of a novel is a crucial element that leads to the reader s understanding of any political, social, or economical factors that the characters experience. We are first introduced to Petrus when David, the protagonist, moves to South Africa to live with his daughter Lucy. We would think that Petrus, or as he introduced himself to David the gardener or dog man I look after the dogs and I work in the garden. Yes...I am the gardener and the dog man. He reflects for a moment. The dog man, he repeats, savouring the phrase. (Coetzee 64) would play a minor, insignificant character, later develops a key role in the novel. Petrus becomes an important example of change for blacks in South Africa after Apartheid. Disgrace, a novel by J. M. Coetzee, reflects the ending of racial segregation and inequality in post apartheid South Africa. Disgrace is a novel that takes place in South Africa during post apartheid. As Loxley mentions, The inequalities inherent in apartheid, and the weakness of the role South Africa plays in the world economy, have combined to generate political and economic instability (Loxley 1). This is slowly shifted throughout the novel when we trace the actions of Petrus and his development in the novel. Not only is inequality a factor, but as Fantu mentions, South Africa is a very unequal society, consisting of a highly developed, first world sector on the one hand and an underdeveloped, third world sector on the other. Racial and class differences generally coincide; most members of the wealthy minority are white, and most members of the poor majority are black (Fantu 1). This shift is underlyingly noticeable when David arrives to South Africa and is greeted by Petrus. Social status is an essential element in this novel. The social status of the characters in this novel is frequently addressed. Through Petrus, we can see a shift not only socially, but throughout the community and country. We learn Lucy owns a piece of land that both her and Petrus work on, and that Petrus purchased a piece of it from Lucy He got a Land Affairs grant earlier this year, enough to buy a hectare and a bit from

Morton Heilig was the first to explore the concept of virtual reality, and is considered to be the father and the creator of this field, even though his theories and ideas were not heard or given much attention, he inspired a lot of artists and engineer who came after him. Scott Fisher, who was inspired by Heiligs work and ideas, developed the concept of virtual reality, into virtual immersive environments and achieved the telepresence in his work. • 8. Mayan Calendar Research Paper There are around forty different calendars used in the world today, usually for determining pious or religious events. Many countries like the United States use the Gregorian calendar for their official and modern activities which they are able to keep everyone organized. Over a thousand years ago in the fifth century the Mayans came out with the first calendars. There are three types of basic calendars that are being used today they are solar, lunar and the lunisolar/solilunar calendars. A solar calendar can be identified by the Sun. This calendar is also based on Earths orbit around the Sun. Lunar calendars are based on the moonrotation around the Earth. This type of calendar is used usually for religious dates or purposes (InpaperMagazine 2013). On the other hand, lunisolar or solilunar calendars connect the two kinds and is basically solar calendars with dates indicating a moon phase. The oldest known calendar was made by the Mayans. The Mayans of Central America relied not only on the Sun and moon, but also on the planet Venus (Misiroglu 2010). They were very intelligent in mathematics and in astronomy. The Confocal Microscopy And Microscopy Abstract: 5 7 sentences First; a brief introduction about the confocal microscopy, critical aspects of confocal Microscopy, and the basic parts of the confocal microscope. It will follow by more information about fluorescence microscopy which is used for study fixed and living cells because of its versatility, specificity, and high sensitivity. Introduction: The Confocal Microscope is a type of microscope that is being developed for obtaining high resolution images and 3D reconstruction. The images from the confocal are far better then other microscopes; however, not quite as good as fluorescent microscopes. The confocal shows the most fine details as possible in 3D; the confocal microscopy offers several advantages over conventional wide field optical microscopy, including the ability to control depth of field, elimination or reduction of background information away from the focal plane (that leads to image degradation), and the capacity to collect serial optical sections from thick specimens [1]. The most significant value about the confocal microscope is the spatial filtering techniques that terminate the glare and focus the substance into the view. As it has been stated, there has been a tremendous explosion in the popularity of confocal microscopy in recent years, due in part to the relative the ease with which extremely high quality images can be obtained from specimens prepared for conventional fluorescence microscopy, and the growing number of applications in

  • 11. • 12. Identification And Identification For Children Most research has been done in the area of facial recognition and not in identification matching. Photo identification is used in a variety of situations. A single picture is used for travel with passports or in the case of photo alerts for missing children. Passports in Canada for children under sixteen are limited to a maximum five year renewal period, differing from an adult passport that can have up to ten years maximum (Government of Canada, n.d.). The five year maximum renewal time may seem short when compared to adults, however, it may be too long in the case of a growing child. This five year renewal period means that passports of infants (those 12 months or younger) can be used to identify children up to six years old. It is important to establish how long is too long for realistic identificationby examining the factors that could hinder or aid identificationfor children. In 2015, there were 45,288 missing children reported in Canada (Government of Canada, 2015). According to the FBI, the United States had over 460,000 reported missing children in 2015 (NCMEC, n.d.). These are just the reported cases of missing children, some children may not be reported as missing. In 2015, the Government of Canada reported that nineteen children were victims of human trafficking, over one hundred were parental abductions, almost thirty five thousand runaways and twenty four were taken by strangers. These children can be found outside of Canada. One third of missing Canadian
  • 13. Creative Advertising Campaign Introduction: Chapter 1 1.1Why is it important to ask this question? It is sometimes easy for consumers and advertisers to forget, but advertising involves a whole ecosystem of creativity, copywriter and art director, planners and Creative Directors, affiliates of the brand, via a plethora of other professionals and professions in order for an idea to come to life and hit our TV screens, radio waves, and any other medium available. With a perpetual flux of new technologies, media and ways to market brands, it becomes increasingly important for Creatives to understand their impact on the ways they can affect, and enhance, the creative process in advertising. For industry veteran David Ogilvy, as for hopefully most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... New technologies can enable advertisers to target their audiences not only as a whole, but in segments, each creative strategy specifically catered to the different particles that make up the audience. Digitization has enabled brands, as well as advertisers, to quantify the successfulness of an advertising campaign. The amount of clicks received, log ons entered, credit card details filled out, or even stars rated on the back of an ad campaign can all determine how effective a creative idea has been. The implications of this very specific knowledge are that marketing strategies can more quickly adapt, improve and react to audiences, and advertising agencies can be applauded for the success of their creative output. Similarly, if the campaign flops, a brand can quickly drop an agency, or an agency can oust a creative. To this end, understanding how new technologies will affect one s creativity becomes critical to one s livelihood. 1.1A brief history The individual, and the industry as a whole, needs to understand and embrace new technology, as the latter is contingent on if not synonymous with advertising and its constant strive to reinvent itself. Using the 20th century as a starting point, it is obvious that the relationship between advertising and technology has been a consistent, and at times bitter, one. Consistent, because from popular press all the way through to the latest iPad App , advertisers have engaged

Grip and Arm Strength Essay examples Term Project Proposal Week 5 Grip and Arm Strength Purpose Statement Occupational health professionals consistently document the need for physical testing upon application for physically demanding jobs. Decades of studies suggest that physical fitness screening prior to job selection decreases workplace injuries. Many of these studies prove specifically that a direct correlation exists between one s strength and job performance. This case study examines such a claim. Also, you risk injury to applicants who are not strong enough to do the job. A solution to this problem is to develop a measure of physical ability that is easy and quick to administer, does not risk injury, and is related to how well a person performs the actual job. A study by Blakely, QuiГ±ones, and Jago (1995) published in the journal Personnel Psychology reports on the research results of just such a measure. That study, and this case study, looks at methods for determining if these strength tests are related to performance on the job. The principles and methods associated with this case study also apply to any number of variables other than strength and job performance. Definition of Variables The dependent variable will be work/job performance and the two independent variables are grip (GRIP) and arm (ARM) strength and two measures of strength were gathered from each participant. A piece of equipment known as the Jackson Evaluation System (JES) was used to collect the strength data. The JES can be configured to measure the strength of a number of muscle groups. In this study, grip strength and arm strength were measured. For each of the tests, the participant was asked to exert as much force as they could for a period of 2 seconds. The equipment then measured the maximum force exerted in pounds (lbs.). Since there is little to no

Players and the game s images are ravaged when they become caught up in steroids. Some of the best players to ever play the game of baseball have been caught up in steroids, including Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire. Also, steroids can cause men s testicals to shrink (Mitchell 55). Baseball players who use steroids are so mentally focused on the positive effects of steroids that they forget to think about the negative effects on mental health, the liver, the cardiovascular system, and the reproductive system. The main type of steroids causing all this chaos to the body are called Anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids are used the most often in Major League Baseball (MLB). The reasons why MLB players get caught up in Anabolic steroids is because they have so much pressure on them to hit home runs, get on base, and entertain. To help them cope with their pressure, they turn to Anabolic steroids because of the fast gains and positive impacts players experience after treatment. This is a positive for baseball fans, who have seen an increase in home runs hit; for example, in just a five year span between 1961 and 1996, there was an increase of nine players who hit at least forty home runs in just one season. Anabolic steroids also make one s hands faster and they increase muscle in areas like the pectorals and forearms. When players are going through a slump and they hear about all of these benefits of Anabolic steroids, they are tempted by this easy fix. Despite all of these positives, negatives also come with steroid use. Anabolic steroids can be taken two different ways by injection, which

  • 22. Arguments For Christian Faith Krishna Tikkani THL 1000 H03 3 October 2017 Reasonable Christian Faith Christian faith lies between the two extremes of fideism and rationalism, that is, between faith with no reason and reason with no faith. Scripture, the main source of Christian tradition, provides us with information about God and what it means to be Christian. An analysis of works and arguments by early church fathers offers tools to engage scripture, including levels of belief and defining faith in the context of society and moderation. Specifically, Augustine and McCabe present arguments concerning faith in the validity of scripture and proofs that a belief in Christianity is reasonable and true. Therefore, a valid assertion can be made that reason plays an important and necessary role in Christian faith. In his essay, Faith in Things Unseen , Augustine argues against the idea that it is irrational to have a belief in things that one cannot see. He discusses how it is normal and legitimate to hold beliefs in the unseen, and that the human mind by default will believe things that are not able to be seen. For example, Augustine uses the idea that most people will trust in the goodwill of their friends, even though goodwill cannot be seen. Furthermore, goodwill and the trust in that goodwill must come before two people can even be friends. Therefore, it is legitimate to have faith in Christian belief as it can be supported by the same reason as friendship, or so Augustine asserts. Along with that faith

It is composed of a micronized powder that is good for 100 inhalations per tube. While inhalants are more common, it can also be administered intravenously. This is mostly used when a woman is going to give birth and needs her uterusto contract. The ingredients include dicholodifluoromethane, dichlorotetrafluoroethane, tricholomonofluoromethane, and sorbitan trioleate. The Effects Of Maternal Age On Offspring Health Due to a combination of factors such as better access to contraceptives, the age at which a fathers first child is conceived has followed an upward trend in recent years. Lots of research has been done into the effect of maternal age on offspring health, with the public s general knowledge of the link between Trisomy 21 and maternal age testimony to this, however the risks that increased paternal age imply are less well documented and well known. Increasing paternal age has in fact been linked to several birth defects, of which the focus of this essay will be on genetic mutations leading to a combination of physical and neuro cranial diseases. Paternal Age Effect (PAE) describes the phenomenon of offspring of older fathers having an increased chance of suffering from certain spontaneous genetically based disorders. Most of these diseases associated with the father s age are autosomally dominant, produced by de novo point mutations in a father s germline mainly by base substitution. The effect arises due to spermatogenesis, in contrast to oogenesis, happening constantly throughout a males life, therefore allowing sperm cells to accumulate a greater number of cell divisions. So a 40 year old males sperm has undergone as many as 25 times as many chromosome replications as an egg, whereas the sperm of a 20 year old man only around 7 times as many (1). This means they have had more opportunity to experience a disrupted mitotic/meiotic division, leading to them being more

The continuing rotation of the crankshaft drives the piston back up, ready for the next cycle. The piston moves in a reciprocating motion, which is converted into circular motion of the crankshaft, which ultimately propels the car. Gas engines usually have about the same about of horsepower as they do torque. The diesel engine usually has twice as much torque as it does horsepower, thus it is the better hill climber and load carrier. As you might have noticed, diesel engines have a harder time starting in cold weather compared to gas engines due to the fact that gas engines have an electrical started system. Gas engines rely on fuel, air and spark to ignite whereas diesel engines rely on heat and compression to initiate spontaneous combustion. Some of the more obvious differences are the prices for fuel. As of now, March 2011, the price for diesel is significantly higher than gas. Gas is approaching the range of $3.40 per gallon to $3.70 per gallon (depending on what part of the country you re in, it could be higher than that). Diesel, on the other hand, is nearing $4.00 per gallon and quickly rising. I remember 7 or 8 years ago when diesel was cheaper than gas, and gas was just above $1.00 per gallon. Overall, I would say the diesel engine is the better of the two. Of course it all depends on the usage and perhaps the price of the vehicle but overall the diesel engine is more rugged and reliable, long lasting, stronger, more efficient and requires less

Persons of lower economic status, minorities and women tend to have lower levels of health due to social constraints. Also, over the past thirty years America has become increasing medicalized. Medicalization is the process in which nonmedical problems become defined and treated as medical problems in the form of illnessand disorders which has led to the increase in medical professional dominance (Conrad, 2007). Due to social constraints and medicalization in America, we see health disparities among persons of lower socio economic status, minorities and women. Throughout the essay he writes about how concepts such as bringing forth, challenging, standing reserve and granting all of them lead to a concept of revealing. If we follow Heidegger s definition of technologyas form of revealing, technology, in its essence, can be said to be a form. It can be a form because it is a bringing forth in which fate let[s] what is not yet present [to] arrive into presencing, (Technology and Values chapter 9 99) into the order of the presence or the real, For if people understand Heidegger correctly, the essence of technology, then, is the graceful process of bringing something forth into presence and, as a mode of revealing a world that has clarified the process. The sneetches made a mistake trying to change their appearances to fit in the society in which they lived but in the end, both stories showed that it is never too late to change and begin to accept others and more important to accept ourselves. On the other hand, there is the story of the blue penguin who was a strong penguin but he was constantly discriminated by the other penguins to the point of wanting to leave the South Pole. Blue Penguin never wanted to change its appearance or its way of being, unlike the sneetches he always accepted himself. as a result, the other penguins had to accept him the way he was. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), diabetes type 1 is also known as juvenile diabetes and occurs when the individual s body lacks insulin, the hormone needed to properly distribute glucose. On the other hand type 2 is due to insulinresistance, which occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin to keep glucose levels in the blood stream under control (ADA). Etiology is the cause of, or investigation to find the cause of, a disease or condition. Similarly with other diseases, diabetes is caused by a multitude of factors, not one sole reason. Although genetics and other unmodifiable risk plays a large role in the appearance of the disease, there are steps that individuals could take to prevent diabetes. Primary prevention could take the form of health education in schools and the community to learn about how nutrition choices greatly affect health and limit the chances of diabetes. Secondary prevention of diabetes works to reduce its severity and is done through early diagnosis or individuals that look out for and acknowledge the symptoms of diabetes. Tertiary prevention is done in efforts to rehabilitate the individuals that suffered the disease, however since diabetes is a chronic condition that may affect people throughout their whole life, health insurance or insulin treatment could be what they require instead to prevent further

The Mentality Of Stoicism In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery, she describes a town that holds a drawing that stones a person once a year because it is a tradition. Stoicism displays characteristics of preparing oneself before an important event happens, someone disassociating themselves from the pain someone experiences when they lose a loved one. The characters depicted in Shirley Jackson s the Lottery display the mentality of stoic teachings from EpictetusThe Handbook. Epictetus rhetoric is best described in Stoic Conceptions of Freedom and Their Relation to Ethics, how one can avoid failures and disappointments and how one can keep or attain an undisturbed and well poised emotional state (Bobbie 80). The characters in The Lottery relate to the stoicism beliefs taught by Epictetus in his Handbook by continue a tradition because it is what happens on June 27 even though the reason for it is not known anymore, proceeding their normal lives on lottery day as if it was not lottery day and stoning a person and being almost emotionless that someone just died because of the lottery. Throughout Shirley Jackson s The Lottery, the characters depicted are representatives of the beliefs that Epictetus writes about in The Handbook. The people in the town depicted in the lottery are emotionless towards death and Epictetus and the stoics write about taking the emotion out of death. On the day of the lottery (June 27), the characters treat lottery day as if it is a normal day. The citizens actions coincide with Epictetus teachings, that a person must think it over in their minds and they will not be fazed when it happens (55). The people nonchalantly gather in the town square as the children pick up rocks and the reader thinks that it is a normal day because children play outdoors daily. The town event planner asks if everyone is there and Mrs. Hutchinson storms in
  • 41. LVMH Case Study PIRSOI TEODORA LMVH in China: building its empire of desire 1. Why is LVMH so successful in China? In my opinion LVMH is so successful in China first of all because their prices and glamorous prestige is reflected onto its customers and the Chinese luxury customers value being recognized as wealthy elites having a high social status. Secondly, ever since their opening LVMH had an exclusively unique heritage and craftsmanship, that made the brand so attractive for the customers. Another reason why the Chinese people love Louis Vuitton is the fact that having an overcrowded and communist society they feel the need to be noticed, to be perceived as different. That is the point that Louis Vuitton knew how to exploit in order to make them feel unique and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 4. How does LVMH encourage Chinese customers to purchase LVMH products in China rather than abroad? Do you think that these strategic initiatives will be successful? Why or why not? What other ideas do you think LVMH should pursue to encourage Chinese customers to purchase LVMH products in China? One of the main reasons why Chinese customers prefer to shop abroad is the fact that it is seen as a better show off and also the prices tend to be lower due to the taxes that are applied for luxury products in China. No matter the fact that the sales of their products in other locations than China bring them important profits in Europe, LVMH is still trying to redirect the Chinese people to buy their products in China. One of the measures they took in this aim was to limit the number of leather products available on the LVMH European market and also limit the working hours in their stores in certain European locations such as Paris, which is one of the most wanted and perceived as the most preferred shopping destination. On the other hand, they are doing all their best to assure premium services in the Chinese stores, so that no matter the price differences that may interfere, the customers would still be satisfied with the special treatment and attention they receive in the stores and also

Essay On Pyrazole As Therapeutic Agent In addition to the above uses of pyrazole as therapeutic agent, it has recently been recognized to have modulatory effect on UPR, especially for the treatment of cancers and other diseases. The benzyl pyrazole derivative HSF1A, a small molecule activator of HSF 1, was identified in a yeast based high throughput screen (72). Induction of chaperones by HSF1A was shown to reduce proteinmisfolding and aggregation mediated toxicity in cellular and fly models of polyQ related diseases, and to activate HSF 1 in Drosophila and mammalian cells without inhibition of Hsp90 activity or causing proteotoxicity. Ceapins, a class of pyrazole amides have ability to inhibit the processing of ATF6О± by S1P and S2P in response to ER stress. It was demonstrated by probing each step of ATF6О± activation that these ceapins prevent selection of ATF6О± into COPII vesicles by retaining it in place in the ER membrane. In presence of ceapins,it was shown that ATF6О± restores the cleavage by removing the requirement for trafficking that involves bringing together substrate and proteases. Rapid clustering of ATF6О± has been shown to be induced by Ceapins that depicts that the oligomeric state of ATF6О± has to play a key role

By living and working in cities, we achieve a higher standard of living but also put up with pollution, noise and congestion. (O Sullivan, 2012) Megacities are large and highly dynamic systems, and represent concentrated sites of human life as well as ecological stress and pollution. Due to the combination of pollution and stress as neighbourhoods grow in size and their resource capacity, the transformation in social environmental relations is also observed. Over time more local environmental hazards associated with inadequate services and sanitation is being replaced by risks that accrue at the city scale. Most megacities are important nodes in the production of pollution and greenhouse emissions which have negative impacts on populations at regional and also global scales. Historically coastal megacities have recorded some of the highest economic losses due to disaster events but megacities are also the centres of capacity, ingenuity and resources. The management of hazards, vulnerability and environmental management in megacities is very complex, and governance responses require special attention to the multiple scales of impact. • 44. The Impact Of Coffeehouse Culture On The Development Of... From the early sixteenth century to the Industrial Revolution, coffee houses spread from the Middle East throughout Europe and grew into important political, economic, and social institutions. This paper will be about the role that coffeehouses played in developing and promoting these concepts and compare the ways in which they gave rise to organizations such as the London Stock Exchange and Lloyd s of London. This paper pays specific attention to the impact of coffeehouseculture on the development of these concepts. Great Introduction. English coffeehouses in the 17th and 18th centuries were public social places where [who?] would meet for conversation and commerce while drinking coffee. For the price of a penny, customers purchased a cup of coffee and admission. Travelers introduced coffee as a beverage to England during the mid 17th century; previously it had been consumed mainly for its supposed medicinal properties. The historian Brian Cowan describes English coffeehouses as places where people gathered to drink coffee, learn the news of the day, and perhaps to meet with other local residents and discuss matters of mutual concern. (insert citation) Coffeehouses also played an important role in the development of financial markets and newspapers. Historians often associate English coffeehouses, during the 17th and 18th centuries, with the intellectual and cultural history of the Age of Enlightenment: they were an alternate sphere , supplementary to the university.

  • 46. The War On Terror ( Wot ) The War on Terror (WoT), also known as the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), refers to the international military campaign that started after the September 11 attacks on the United States.[47] U.S. President George W. Bush first used the term War on Terror on 20 September 2001.[47] The Bush administration and the western media have since used the term to argue a global military, political, legal, and conceptual struggle against both organizations designated terrorist and regimes accused of supporting them. It was originally used with a particular focus on countries associated with Islamic terrorism organizations including al Qaeda and like minded organizations. In 2013, President Barack Obama announced that the United States was no longer pursuing a War on Terror, as the military focus should be on specific enemies rather than a tactic. He stated, We must define our effort not as a boundless Global War on Terror , but rather as a series of persistent, targeted efforts to dismantle specific networks of violent extremists that threaten America. [48] The phrase War on Terror has been used to specifically refer to the ongoing military campaign led by the U.S., UK and their allies against organizations and regimes identified by them as terrorist, and excludes other independent counter terrorist operations and campaigns such as those by Russia and India. The conflict has also been referred to by names other than the War on Terror. In 1984, the Reagan Administration used
  • 47. Essay on Run Lola Run Analysis As the film Run Lola Run has a multiform narrative structure, it is separated into three sections in which Lola is able to repeat her journey from the beginning. The repetition of the run in which we see the same scene three times is an example of how Lola s journey is similar to the likes of a video game. This works to emphasise the fact that her life can just be rewinded and restarted just like video games. Even though, in real life we cannot travel back it time, the repetition of the run sequence shows mistakes are fixed by going back to the root of the problem. Throughout the movie, the background music is similar to the music that is heard in fast paced, action based video games, the music is fast paced and creates suspense, which... This works to emphasise how luck gave her another chance to live and it was really because of chance that she is able to continue with her journey. This is similar to many occurrences in life such as death occurrences which people have no explanation for besides luck and chance. Another technique used is a long distance shot of Lola in front of the big truck with the casino presents her a great opportunity to fulfil her journey to get the money she needs. This is used to show how chance is not always bad but may also lead to opportunities that will be beneficial in the future. Continuing on with the notion of chance and luck, Lola ends up at the casino and is completely oblivious on how to gamble. By chance again, she walks to a roulette table and bets on the number 20. The close up shot of the roulette table, spinning and coming to a stop shows suspense when Lola was about to win. This works to place importance on the actual object of chance which in the real world is all casino games. The film is showing how just like Lola s life afterwards depends on the small play of chance, many of our live depend on other games of chance. Life is essentially a game of chance which affects an individual s personal fate through our own actions as well as others. The film Run Lola Run explores the idea that in life, individuals gain
