creativity.
Firstly, one needs to consider the language and vocabulary used in the essay. The content should
be age-appropriate, avoiding complex words that may confuse young readers. However, it is

child's language skills.
Additionally, creating an interesting and captivating narrative is crucial. Children are more likely
to enjoy and retain information presented in a story format. This requires the writer to weave
together educational concepts with imaginative elements, ensuring that the essay remains both
informative and entertaining.
Structuring the essay is another challenge. While maintaining a clear introduction, body, and
conclusion, the writer must also incorporate elements that cater to a child's attention span. Short,

includes images or illustrations.
Furthermore, it is crucial to strike a balance between educational content and the child's

3. Gulliver s Travels Rationality
Humankind as the Balance of Rationality and Passion
A Voyage to the Country of the Houyhnhnms
Jonathon Swift s Gulliver s Travels takes place in four parts, each of which
describe Gulliver s adventures with fantastical species of foreign nations. The search
for Swift s meaning has been a controversial one; the novel has been interpreted
along a wide spectrum ranging from children s story to a satire of human nature. The
greatest debate lies within the realm of satire, and Part Four of Gulliver s Travels, A
Voyage to the Country of the Houyhnhnms, is just one area in which critics argue for
a variety of satirical meanings. Critics traditionally argue for the hard interpretation
which posits the strictly rational nature of the ... Show more content on

There are many instances in which the Houyhnhnms are depicted in a positive light,
and one such case is Gulliver s revelation that The Houyhnhnms have no world in
their language to express anything that is evil, except what they borrow from the
deformities or ill qualities of the Yahoos (Swift 2413). In addition, Gulliver reflects
upon periods where he was in the company of conversing Houyhnhnms as he
expresses:
Nothing passed but what was useful, expressed in the fewest and most significant
words; where (as I have already said) the greatest decency was observed...where no
person spoke without being pleased himself, and pleasing his companions; where
there was no interruption, tediousness, heat, or difference of sentiments. (Swift 2414)
A sense of emotional resiliency is also expressed as Gulliver describes the
circumstances surrounding the death of a fellow Houyhnhnm. He writes, They...are
buried in the obscurest places that can be found, their friends and relations

the least regret that he is leaving the world (Swift 2413).

4. Struggles with Identity in The Lesson by Toni Cade
Bambara
Identity is what makes a person different from all other individuals. Throughout
history it shows that people tend to conform to society s perception of who they
should be when they don t take the time out to figure out who they are. Therefore, it
is important for people to have a sense of who they are. In The Lesson by Toni Cade
Bambara, it shows how the main character struggles to figure out her identity and
how she sees herself.
In The Lesson it talks about a group of children who lives in the slum of New York
City in the 1970s. Sylvia the main character is ignorant, rude and stubborn. In the
summer all she wanted to do is have fun with her friends however, Miss Moore a
well educated black woman took it upon her self to take Sylvia and her friends to a
toy store called F.O.A schwarz in manhattan. On the trip Miss Moore is trying to
show them a different world , the real world something the children are not accustom
to seeing. She s helping them to figure their identity and how they are as a person. At
the end Sylvia realizes that she is a strong and intelligent individual.
It is crucial for one to have a safe haven, a place where one can concentrate and find
themselves as an individual. Throughout the story Sylvia appears to be a
rebellious, ignorant girl who curses a lot. Maybe Sylvia feels the need to put on a
mask when she is with her friends and pretend to be someone who she s not. When
Miss Moore and the children was in the toy store, Rosie giraffe one of

Matthew Restall, a Professor of Latin American History, Women s Studies, and

university s Latin Studies. Throughout Seven Myths of the Spanish Conquest, he
discusses many false truths that have been passed down through history. For
instance, he discusses, The Myth of Exceptional Men. The Myth of Spanish Army,
and The Myth of Completion. For the sake of time, I will discuss three myths that
correlate with class lectures and serve as the topic of this paper, The Myth of
Exceptional Men, The Myth of the King s Army, and the Myth of the White
Conquistador. It should be noted that Restall speaks to his audience assuring us that
his ...his purpose is not to degenerate this technique of historical writing

subordinated to the larger structural forces and causes of social change. (4). He states
that his intentions are to react to more than just the works of Columbus, Pizzaro, and

One of the great themes of historical literature over the past five centuries has been
the assessment of the European discovery of the Americas as one of the two greatest
events in human history. (2). A similar, better known pronouncement was penned by

6. New Business Model Of College Students
College students who have to have certain kind of software for school often find
themselves in a predicament when they cannot afford software that they need for a
class whether it be for an English major or Graphics Design major. Students are
facing a new business model where companies like adobe and MicrosoftOffice are
making their software into a monthly payment instead of a one time pay for the
software. Software companies should not have their software on a monthly payment
for students because low budgets, users rent not own, and is it worth it.
In general college students are broke, students are doing good to buy ramen
noodles for themselves. How could they pay over $50 a month for something like
Adobe Creative Cloud, $30 a month for Grammarly, or $75 a year for Microsoft

Coca Cola: Corporate Strategies and What Affects Decisions
Does Coca Cola allow various factors to influence the decision making process?
There are different strategy levels striving to meet or exceed overall corporate
strategies within Coca Cola. This essay will discuss functional, stability, competitive
versus cooperative, trade offs, and retrenchment strategies. It will also provide
examples or advantages and disadvantages the company utilizes at a corporate
strategic management for tailor logical portfolio decision changes when warranted.
Leading off with the first topic of this discussion, what is a functional strategy and
can it affect decision making?
First, functional level strategies appear in specific tasks or operations within several
departments such as human resources operations, and finance providing valuable
input in line with higher corporate level strategies (Bradley, n.d.). For Coca Cola,
there are other functional departments to include, for example, a research and
development (R D) and marketing. The daily operations at this level of strategic
planning can influence the decision making process by promoting changes or by
keeping up with the status quo procedures to gauge other possible departmental
findings. Within Coca Cola, there are advantages and disadvantages incorporating
stability strategies. Next, what are stability strategies and
8. The Airline Deregulation Act Of 1978
Background
The notion of flight of traversing the vast highway of the skies was once a
dreamlike idea that was invigorated into reality in 1903, when Orville Wright
piloted the first powered aircraft a mere twenty feet above the sandy shores of North
Carolina. The subsequent century expanded upon his success, innovating airplanes
and developing a booming industry founded upon air travel. It is thus valid to
assume that, globally, we as a civilization have changed how we live and experience
the world as a result of the airline industry we are able to settle, travel, and conduct
business in places once deemed remote and inaccessible, and our world is
undoubtedly more interconnected. Traveling by air has become a commonplace
service, altering our perception of distance and diminishing travel time, and the
industry is continuously making efforts to improve and advance. The Airline
Deregulation Act of 1978 within the United States promulgated an era of
unencumbered competition within the market, opening the floodgates for newer
carriers with a variety of lower pricing structures to compete with formidable
incumbents. Numerous carriers consequently filed for bankruptcy, and many of the
industry leads consolidated their airlines to increase their power. Within the last
twelve years alone, a series of bankruptcies and mergers have resulted in ten major
U.S. airlines consolidating into four market dominating mega carriers: American,
Delta, Southwest, and United. Why is

In The Oyster Question, Christine Keiner utilizes environmental, agricultural,
political, and social history perspectives to investigate the Maryland oyster industry
and its decline throughout history to answer the question if the oyster industry should
be privatized. She offers opposing viewpoints from scientists, politicians and local
community members. She has managed to connect scientific history with
environmental history with local history to bring together a comprehensive overview
of the problems both past and present of the Maryland oysterindustry. I think that
Christine keener does an excellent job, not without its flaws, of laying bare how
science and preservation is necessary to be understood as local phenomena,

After this distress erupted Maryland instituted a new law that only residents could
harvest oysters. So the northerners moved south.
When the refrigerated rail cars came onto the scene, it changed the oyster game.
Oysters could now be enjoyed all over the country and Americans loved them,
oysters went as far west as the Rocky Mountains! The oyster business was booming.
In 1870 one fifth of the men in the entire fishing industry were Chesapeake Bay
oystermen. There were twenty six thousand fishermen and processors employed in
the Chesapeake oyster industry. The bay then had around forty two thousand boats,
just for oystering. On average, they were harvesting fifteen million pounds of oysters
a year. In 1885, twenty nine million bushels were harvested. An increased demand
led to increases in harvests. The bay quickly began to deplete. From 1865 to 1959
there was a series of disputes that erupted among the various groups of oystermen.
Sometimes violent, these disputes caused the government to intervene with a newly
created Maryland Oyster Navy.
To help regulate the oyster industry a series of steps were taken in the 1880s: a
general license system, the oyster police, the Winslow oyster survey, and numerous
road and canal expansion projects. The 1890s brought decline in the oyster industry,
due to both demand and the depletion of the bay, though by the mid 1900s it was
fairly stable. This was helped in part by the Hanan oyster culture
10. Analysis Of Sex Lies And Conversation By Deborah Tannen
In communication, it s hard to understand all the things that another person says
even they re the same gender, and it s more difficult for women and men to talk to
each other. That is one of the biggest problem for every family. In fact, Deborah
Tannen wrote Sex, Lies, and Conversation: Why Is It So Hard for Men and Women
to Talk to Each Other?, and John Gray wrote Speaking different languages , these
articles said about the way women and men communicate. For example, in Tannen s
article, she tells us : This episode crystallize the irony that although American men
tend to talk more than women in public situations, they often talk less at home. And
this pattern is wreaking havoc with marriage.(p.329) Moreover,... Show more content

was lying but he explained, When I come home from work I have nothing to say. If
she didn t keep the conversation going, we d spend the whole evening

public. Then Gray says, The biggest challenge for men is correctly to interpret and
support a women when she is talking about her feelings. The biggest challenge for
women is correctly to interpret and support a man when he isn t talking.(p.340)
More, men and women have different ways when they process information. For men,
in Gray s article, before they talk or respond, they first silently mull over or think
about what they have heard or experienced.(p.340) They think about it carefully, this
process could take from minutes to hours. If he doesn t have enough information, and
he isn t sure about his answer, he won t say anything. His reaction makes his wife

11. Shrek Argumentative Essay
Shrek is the hero of my story. At the beginning of the story he is located at his
home. He lives there alone and he doesn t want any company, at all. Alot of other
animals come to his home invading his privacy and that is where he will receive a
call to adventure. The call to adventure was going to see Lord Farquaad. Lord
Farquaad is the person that the animals were trying to escape from, and that s why
they went to Shreks home.
He accepts the call to adventure immediately, because he wanted to get all the
other animals to leave. That s is also what motivated him to accept the call. Donkey
helps him on his journey, because he knew where Lord Farquaad was located and
shrek didn t. Shrek didn t want Donkey to show him the way. Shrek didn t like
Donkey because he couldn t be quiet. None of the other animals wanted to tell him
where Lord Farquaad was because they were scared.

different types of sounds help shapes the feelings of the audience, helps to reveal

Systems
Author
Weihang Wu and Tim Kelly
Article Summary:
The article highlights an approach to software architecture designed for safety related
systems. It talks about the importance of safety strategy in software architecture
design. It addresses three issues to improve the architecture designs for safety related
systems.
Design Techniques: There have been a lot of advancements in software design
techniques. There are many design techniques available but choosing the right for the
system is absolute critical. Therefore this approach fails in demonstrating which
design technique needs to be chosen to increase the protection against failures.
Architectural Patterns: Architectural Patterns or styles consist of components and
connectors, which connect these components based on a set of restrictions, which
describe how the components of a particular kind can be connected. There are a lot of
architectural patterns available, which display different safety patterns. It is
recommended to understand the basic design patterns and for creating a good
architecture.
Safety Analysis: There are a number of safety analysis techniques for software design,
but there has been very little analysis on architectural level to support software
architecture design. Therefore a safety analysis approach is needed for software with
hardware to characterize the architectural elements at various architectural levels.
The article talks about strategic tactic to address the above three issues which

Two important figures in history who were well known for educating African
Americans and who also changed the way the U.S education system worked were
Booker T. Washington who focused on having education for real life jobs and not
asking for equality from whites. He just focused on getting help from whites and
accepting their place on earth. And W.E.B. du bois who focused on the exact
opposite things that of booker t Washington. Du bois focused on a strategy called
gradualist strategy. The gradualist political strategy focused on blacks being book
smart to get anywhere in life. Booker t Washington was born April 5, 1856 into
slavery by his mother Jane. Jane, booker, and his older brother john were 3 of the
six slaves working on a small farm. Booker s father was a local white farmer. There
isn t much to say about booker s father because a white man impregnating a black
women slave was not tolerated, especially not in the south. Because of that Jane
guarded his identity. The emancipation proclamation was the event which changed
Booker T. Washington s fate, making it possible for him to be free and get and
education. Jane left the plantation with Booker and John. They went on a ten day

received for this project will need to be transferred into US dollars. When Dozier
issued the bid on December 3, 1985 the project the exchange rate was $1.4820/ВЈ.
This rate would have provided Dozier with the desired 6% profit on the project. On

16. Journal Report On Journal ( Trip ) ( 2011-2012 Item No. 1
Journal (Trip to France) 2011 2012Item No. 1
The first item in my portfolio is a journal from when my family took a trip to
France. Since my dad was granted a sabbatical, our family travelled to the south of
France for a year to learn French and gain cultural experience. We took this trip
during the time I was in Grade 6; however, we had to take school in French instead,
which was probably more difficult. I chose to add this journal because it is an
accurate summary of many of the things my family did in France, and it shows my
progress throughout the year learning French.
In order to be able to communicate while my family was in France, all of us had to
learn to speak and write in French. This was a challenge, but we took lessons ... Show

However, I would make sure to keep a more detailed account of what I was doing. I
would need to keep a better journal so that I could remember all the things I did.
There are so many things to do and see that it is nearly impossible not to forget
something!
In France, I learned the value of heightened social and interpersonal skills and
awareness. I found that when speaking in French, I was much more confident than
when I spoke in English, and this led to me being less introverted. By writing a
journal, I also learned how to summarize facts concisely, and how to communicate
effectively.
This journal demonstrates that I have effective communication skills, especially in
writing. It also shows how I am always working to improve my general skill set. You
can see this throughout the journal, as my French gets better and better!
Rock (Asteroids Game) July 2013Item No. 2
As the second item in my portfolio, I chose to add a rock. Although a rock is
something very ordinary, to me it represents something very special: the time when I
created a clone of the arcade game Asteroids. This was significant because it was
the first time I had created a video game that actually looked professional; it was
also the first video game for which I developed a fully functional computerized
opponent. I chose a rock to represent part of me in my portfolio, because it is a
17. My Family Sociology Analysis
My paper talks about the five general sociology concepts that I learned to using my
family. I picked my family because I think they were the most relatable and easy
group that would be more beneficial and knowledgeable to discuss regarding the
concepts. My family consist of a father, mother, two boys, and a girl, not including
me. My parents speak three languages and my siblings only speak one due to the
language influence while they were in school. Culture is very important to my family
not only the language, and attire but the values of what the culture teaches. Such as,
the man being the head of the household and everything must run through him. The
woman is taught to cook, clean and take care of the things inside the household. The

You are not necessarily conforming into something negative nor positive.
Assimilation means as minorities you adopt patterns of a dominant culture
(Maconois, 2015, pp 351). Assimilation isn t necessary a bad thing depending on
what perspective you look at. In my family as my parents moved from Tanzania to
the states they had to adapt to different things such as the driving, where in Africa
we drive in the left side. The dress had to change for not only church but daily dress
had to be modified. For church, usually the ladies would wear traditional attire
which was a skirt or dress with a head wrap/hat and the men would wear the same
thing. As seasons passed on while they were in the states they learned that it could
get colder than when it rains, like snow and how you can no longer wear skirts or
dress. Summary I think that this made me realize how things play an important
role in our everyday life. After completing the social group analysis project, I was
more aware of the importance of social groups and their role in society. My social
group helped influence who I am today by navigating different challenged each day
with a word of advice and encouragement. There is different concept that I have
learned that really reflect my social group. Each of these concepts are being used
every day, and without them society wouldn t function the way it does today. What
would society be if we remove the core of each
18. How the Olympics Have Been Hijacked by Nationalism
and...
Would you agree that the Olympics are less about sports and more about nationalism
and commercialism?
When the Olympic Games were founded in 776 BC their main aim was to promote
peace and athletic excellence but over the past few years the spirit of Olympics has
been hijacked by nationalism and commercialism.
Olympic Games have been a victim of political conflicts since its inception but during
the 19th Century these games suffered the most. The Munich games held in 1936
were boycotted by many countries including Ireland and Spain as many believed that
Adolf Hitler sought to exploit the games for propaganda purposes. Nationalism also
affected the spirit of Olympic Games during the World Wars where the conflicting
blocks refused to summon on the Olympic platform to exhibit their skills and talents
in the field of sports. After the World War II many countries including the United
States boycotted the Moscow games (1980) held in Russia and the loosing countries
were not even invited to this event. There were the boycott years 1976, 1980 and
1984 when entire nations including United States and Russia stayed away because
rivals either were present there or were hosting. Therefore the Olympic Games failed a
number of times to promote peace between countries through sports. Rivalries
between conflicting countries have often delayed the Olympic Games and have
raised questions regarding the true purpose of these games. Commercialism has

Lately, three articles were reviewed for the film, Moana, depicting whether Disney
was being stereotypical and insensitive to the Polynesian culture. Many people think
that Disney was wrong in the depiction of the character s appearances, especially
relating to the demigod character, Maui. Disney was justified in creating the Moana
filmand was not culturally insensitive to the Polynesian people because Disney had
spent 5 years just getting the characters correct by Polynesian standard, they also
looked far and hard in order to get Polynesian voice actors and songwriters, and
finally, the Disney team took the time out of their lives in order to make the setting of
the movie as authentic as possible.

Article 3 states, Clements and Musker have been making trips to the Pacific
Islands including Samoa, Tahiti, Mo orea, and Fiji. Over time they created a
coalition of anthropologists, historians, choreographers, musicians, and linguists
called the Oceanic Trust. Together, this group helped to shape Moana and keep the
writing and design as authentic as possible. Moreover, this evidence shows Disney
had taken in a lot of accounts to get the setting of Moana very similar to what
Polynesian islands would look like. To add onto, the team took time out of their
lives just to go visit these foreign places, to make sure that their movie was perfect.
The team working on the Moana film not only accomplished their setting, but was
able to get the Polynesian setting so well that they even wowed the Polynesian
people working on the movie. In article 1 it states, They are making a film inspired
by my culture, the culture I had lived every day of my life and that is something
incredibly special for the rest of the world to see, Auli l says... Am I still grounded
and rooted in the way I want to be? And I can honestly say yes. Moreover, this
explains that Disney was able to get the reaction that they wanted from a

20. Modernization Of The Hawaiian Islands
The state of Hawaii, also known collectively as the Hawaiian Islands, has a long
history regarding its development. From migration, to the development of producing
goods as a way of bartering, to an eventual governed society, the modernization of
Hawaii has an illustrious history. The people who impacted this and were part of
creating a globalized look at Hawaiiplayed a part into modernization the state. This
paper will illustrate the modernization of this land and its westernization throughout
the years.
The modern origins of these islands start not from the migration of the Asian
people from other various islands, but with the discovery by an Englishmen named
Captain Cook. With his ship, The Resolution, as well as The Discovery; Cook
stumbles upon the islands of Kauai and Oahu on January 18, 1778. The exchange
of goods amongst the native Hawaiians showed promise, but this barter and friendly
spirit did not last; as on his second visit to the islands in 1779 was unfortunate
timing which led to his death . Following Cook s death there was a period of
migration to the Hawaiian Islands which started when some of the crew from Cook s
ships decided to stay behind.
The movement of trade to the Hawaiian Islands created a rift between the native
people, and the foreigners. As fur trade in China became such a big industry, Hawaii
became stopping ground or port for these trade ships. This eventually led to an
increase in the amount of foreigners, making up majority of the
21. Ancient Gilding Methods and Their Chemical Structure
Essay
Introduction:
The article seeks to inform the reader not only about ancient gilding methods, but also
about their chemical structures. The article does this by examining gilded artifacts
from each gilding methodology and studying the components in the metal. The article
also attempts to explain how the chemical structures in the object came about, using
technology and analysis.
Main points of article:
The first paragraph sets out to explain ancient gilding and why it occurred, as well as
go over what the article will discuss.

I enjoyed learning the methodology used in each age and how they got more and
more complex as time went on. I was also impressed with how the article went in
depth on the chemical properties of each method.
Questions raised: What is the exact technology used to examine the objects in the
article?
Why did they choose the artifacts in the article specifically?
How were they able to figure out the gilding methods?

types can be used, they are all made of the same chemicals. When electrons flow in
the battery, it creates an electrical current that powers things. The battery puts the
right chemicals in the right relationships, and then puts a wall between them. When
the two opposite sides of a battery are connected by a conductor, the electrons flow

Feminism In The Crime Film Genre
Throughout motion picture history, women have experienced more transition in their
roles, as a result of changing societal norms, than any other class. At first, both society
and the movie industry preached that women should be dependent on men and
remain in the home, in order to guarantee stability in the community and the family.
As time passed and attitudes changed, women were beginning to be depicted as
strong willed, independent minded characters, who were eager to break away from
convention. The genre of the crime film represents such a change in the roles handed
to women. Two films that can be contrasted, in order to support this view, are: The

Women were now being portrayed as powerful, unpredictable, and possessing a
mysterious sexual power, which they used to elude male control. The 1960 s also
brought with it his tensions that resulted the escalating war in Vietnam, the
assassination of John F. Kennedy, black ghettos going up in flames, the women s
liberation movement, the youth anti war rebellion and free love theme, and the Civil
Rights movement. It was safe to say that the American public had violence on its
mind and the movie industry capitalized on the public s apprehensions.
Director Arthur Penn used Bonnie Clyde as his medium to imprint the rebellious

Gretzky s success all stems from his innate talent, but in The Matthew Effect,
Gladwell argues that innate talent is not the only reason for success. He reveals
there s a much more surprising reason. In Gladwell s chapter, The Matthew Effect,
the controversial writer expertly asks rhetorical questions and uses charts and

Without these two strategies, Gladwell would have failed to draw attention and
transition from section to section, or build up to and eventually defend his claim
with any undeniable facts. Statistics and rhetorical questions do not only apply to
arguments about success, but they are also rhetorical mediums that can be and are
used in a variety of ways. Rhetorical questions can be seen on posters, in ads, and in
any strong paper. How s that for applicability? Statistics are most commonly found
in visual advertisements and websites. They use evidence that cannot be
discredited to credit any possible argument. The reason these two strategies work
so well together is that questioning adheres to the visceral and emotional side of an
audience, while cold, hard numbers build credibility and respect to logic and
reasoning. This results in a powerful one two punch that left many Gladwell readers
wondering if they missed the chance to be great because of something as simple as a

27. What Is Nietzsche On Will To Power
Inspired by Arthur Schopenhauer s idea the will to live and a desire to rebut
Christianity s promotion of morality, Friedrich Nietzsche coined the term will to
power as the accurate description of man s driving force. Within Nietzsche s
perspective, Values did man only assign to things in order to maintain himself he
created only the significance of things, a humansignificance! (Thus Spoke
Zarathustra 51). This therefore implies that humanity developed values as a means
of self preservation. However, as civilized society further isolates man from the
perils of nature, thus limiting the threats to self preservation, Nietzsche asserts the
higher motivation of ... a living thing wants to discharge its strength life itself is will
to power : self preservation is only one of the indirect and most frequent
consequences of this. (Beyond Good and Evil 15).... Show more content on

Features
Abstract Process of selecting relevant features from available dataset is known as
features selection. Feature selection is use to remove or reduce redundant and
irrelevant features. Various feature selection algorithms such as CFS (correlation
feature selection), FCBF (Fast Correlation Based Filter) and CMIM (Conditional
Mutual Information Maximization) are used to remove redundant and irrelevant
features. To determine efficiency and effectiveness is the aim of feature selection
algorithm. Time factor is denoted by efficiency and quality factor is denoted by
effectiveness of subset of features. Problem of feature selection algorithm is accuracy
is not guaranteed, computational complexity is large, ineffective at removing
redundant features. To overcome these problems Fast Clustering based feature
selection algorithm (FAST) is used. Removal of irrelevant features, construction of
MST (Minimum Spanning Tree) from relative one and partition of MST and selecting
representative features using kruskal s method are the three steps used by FAST
algorithm.

Within each division of this organization there is a separate operating system for the

Fifty years ago, a slender young English woman was walking through a rainforest
reserve at Gombe, Tanzania. She came across a dark figure hovering over a termite
nest. The large male chimpanzee was foraging for food. As she watched, the animal
through her binoculars, the chimpanzee carefully took a twig, bent it, stripped it of
its leaves and finally stuck it into the nest. The chimpanzeebegan to spoon termites
into his mouth. Jane Goodall made one of the most important scientific
observations of modern times in that remote African rainforest: something other
than a human had just made a serving tool! It was hard for me to believe, she
remembered, At that time, it was thought the humans, and only the humans, used
and made tools. I had been told from school on that the world s best definition of a
human was man, the tool maker and yet, I had just watched a chimp tool maker in
action. I remember that day as if it was yesterday. A brief encounter in an African
rainforest inspired Jane Goodall to explore the definitions and paradigms of
humans. Jane Goodall was born on April 3, 1934, in London, England, to a middle
class British family. Her father, Mortimer Herbert Morris Goodall was an engineer.
Her mother, Vanna Morris Goodall was a successful novelist. When Jane was about
two years old, her mother gave her a stuffed chimpanzee toy which she still possesses
today. Jane was a good student, but she had more interest in being outdoors and
learning about

History
Kentucky Fried Chicken, popularly known as KFC, was founded by Harland
Sanders. Starting from his roadside restaurant selling fried chicken in roadside
restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, to expanding his restaurant and naming it Sanders
Court and Cafe in 1937,the first franchise of this chain opened in Utah in 1952
where he franchised his recipe to Pete Harman who was well know restaurant
operator. The name KFC was quoted by a sign painter, Don Anderson, hired by
Harman, creating a distinct image of restaurant showing Southern hospitality in Utah.
Before reaching to present state of this company, KFC has been traded many
times. In 1964, Sanders sold the company to John Y. Brown Jr. and Jack C.
Massey with the agreement including life time salary for him along with his
appointment as company s quality controller and trademark. Later in July 1971,
KFC was sold again to a company named Heublein, a packaged food and drink
corporation. Heublein was bought by R.J. Reynolds, the tobacco giants in 1982 and
in July 1986, Reynolds sold KFC to Pepsi Co. The name Kentucky Fried Chicken
was officially adopted in 1991. Further, Pepsi Co. created its independent restaurants
division in 1997 and named it Tricon Global Restaurants which was renamed to Yum!
Brands in May 2002.
KFC was established by a single person and
42. Dbq Factory Workers
Did factory workers deserve to work in terrible conditions? During the 19th century
in a period referred to as the Gilded Age, industrial workers lived and worked in
horrible conditions due to overcrowding which clumped many in small areas,
pollution which ran rampant due to no regulations, and dangerous machinery which
was usually operated by children, who had small hands and were perfect for the
role. There were many factors which contributed to workers being put to work in
such horrible conditions and in a terrible economic position and those factors were
mostly corrupt government officials, unfair business practices, and because a huge
influx of immigrants. The first major factor which caused most of the economic
problems for industrial workers were corrupt government officials. These corrupt
officials would use their positions of power to do favors for those who controlled the
economy or as Mark Twain put it The chances are that a man cannot get into congress
now without resorting to arts and means that should render him unfit to go there. .
What this meant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason why there were so many unfair practices were because there were no
regulations at the time which again as stated above was due to a corrupt
government. As J.P Morgan put it A man always has two reasons for doing
anything: a good reason and the real reason . What this means is that behind a
noble cause is a hidden agenda as was the case with almost every owner of big
businesses. One of the few exceptions was Andrew Carnegie who believed in giving
back to the community although for the most part this had no impact on the workers.
Even in modern times politicians and companies mask their true intentions behind
the facade of doing what is best for the working class the only difference is that
during the Gilded Age no one cared for industrial workers which is why they were
treated so

Introduction The Missouri Department of Natural Resources was established in
1974 to protect natural resources, natural commodities, provide residential
support, and recreational opportunities (Missouri Department of Natural Resources
About Us). This department owns and operates The Division of State Parks
(Missouri State Parks About the State Park System). It oversees the regulation and
protection of all Missouri State Parks (Missouri State Parks About the State Park
System). Indian Creek Wild Area is a specially protected area within Trial of Tears
State Park in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri (Missouri State Park Designated
Wild Areas). It was established in 1978 for research, outdoor activities, and
instructional lectures (Missouri State Park Designated Wild Areas). Indian Creek
Wild Area occupies 526.1 ha of land within the park (Missouri State Park
Designated Wild Areas). The park itself is located east, off Highway 177 and west
from the Mississippi River. The park sits parallel to the Mississippi River. The
wild area is in the northern hemisphere of the park, just above Vancil Hollow and
contains numerous hiking trails that run through the it. The woodlands of Indian
Creek Wild Area are composed mostly of Liriodendron tulipifera (tulip poplar),
Carya (hickory) and Quercus (oak) in the uplands and Salix (willow), Liquidambar
styraciflua (sweet gum), and Platanus (sycamore) in the basins, along with a variety
of flora (Missouri State Parks, Peewah Trail). Invasive
44. Social Psychology And Social Influence
In social psychology, social influence is a process where someone s beliefs,
thoughts and behaviour change by being exposed to beliefs, thoughts and opinions
of others. It manifests in several forms, such as obedience, compliance and
conformity. All these types of social influence have been studied by numerous
researchers who investigated the reasons why people conform to social norms and
obey to authorities, such as Milgram s classic studies on obedience. His experiments
support the popular idea of banality of evil Hannah Arendt (1963) s famous phrase
referring to the capability to accomplish dreadful things out of banal reasons ,
revealing that people conform submissively and thoughtlessly to the orders that
authorities deliver, no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accordingly, Rotter proposed that people with an internal locus of control, having
a confident personality, are more likely to resist to social influence. There are
different studies supporting this idea. For instance, in their experiment consisting in
interviewing the subjects, Oliner and Oliner (1988) suggested that the 406 non
Jewish participants who lived during the Holocaust in Germany and protected
Jewish people were more inclined to have a higher internal locus of control in
contrast to the 126 individuals who obeyed to commands. This outcome supports
Rotter s theory that internals are not as likely to follow commands in contrast to
externals who may be more easily persuaded, although there may be other aspects
that have to be considered in view of the circumstances people lived in WWII.
Additionally, Spector (1983) utilised Rotter s scale on 157 students to evaluate
whether conformity is linked with locus of control. He discovered that participants
with a higher internal locus of control weren t as likely to conform only in
circumstances of normative social influence, where people adapt in order to be
accepted, whereas there was no significant difference between the two groups in
situations of informational social influence, where people conform for their need to
be right. (Deutsch Gerard, 1955) This finding proposes that normative social influence
45. Essay about Nature’s Influence on the War of 1812
Nature s Influence on the War of 1812
Mother Nature played a part in every event in history, including the War of 1812.
The War of 1812 was a conflict between the United States of America and Great
Britain that had been building for many years. By the end of the war however there
was no clear victor and the issues that caused the conflict were never resolved.
Nature played a crucial role in the outcome. Because of humanity s natural strive for
power, the living and fighting conditions of the soldiers, and the geographical layout
of the countries involved, nature was a driving force during the War of 1812.
Hunger and greed are a part of human nature as much, if not more than, any other
emotion. The struggle for power and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This alliance increased the tension between the British and the Americans.
The Americans had been trying to convert the Indians to farmers so they could take
over their hunting land, and the American public was concerned that if the British
supplied the Indians with weapons it would incite dangerous riots and revolts. To
make matters worse for the American the Indians were being led by Chief Tecumseh
who wished to unite all of the Indians into essentially one tribe to assist in their fight
for land. This would have most likely been successful had his brother known as The
Prophet led the Indians into battle against William Henry Harrison s army at the
Battle of Tippecanoe which led to the massacre of Indians Tecumseh had been away
negotiating at the time and returned to find his work completely undone, so he joined
what little forces he had left with the British. Tecumseh was killed at the Battle of
Moraviantown on the Thames River.1
Not only were the Indians involved in the battle between the British and Americans.
Also during this time period it seemed that the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte
could not keep his influence out of any international business. In 1806 Napoleon
forced the neutral trading ships going through Europe, mainly the American ones, to
choose between Britain and France. The American ships did not appreciate this and
responded with a blockade leading to the
46. The Effects Of Cultural Stereotypes And Group
Membership
The Effects of Cultural Stereotypes and Group Membership In the last few decades,
the media has emphasized the prevalence of racism in America. Individuals often
wonder if the number of interracial police shootings have actually increased over
the years, or if the availability heuristic is at play. Regardless, racial biases and the
natural development of in groups and out groups continue to play a crucial role in
everyday life. Miller, Zielaskowski, and Plant (2012) and DeAngelis (2009) both
discussed the effects that group membership and cultural stereotypes have on
behavior and overall mental health. Clinicians must be aware of how these factors
influence their client s own self image as well as how these factors may influence the

For example, I worked with a 42 year old black male who disliked women,
especially white women. When he saw that I would be his case manager, he was
infuriated. His first words to me were No skinny ass woman is going to tell me
what to do, especially no White woman! I staffed the case with my supervisor and
we agreed that I should do my best to work with this individual. After two sessions
of yelling, his affect started to change. He later told me that White women were
always scared of him, which over time caused him to hate all White females. We
worked together until I left the clinic. He made significant progress, and he taught me
how stereotypes and group membership can have a substantial impact on an
individual. Cultural stereotypes and group membership are present in our daily lives.
Clinicians must be aware of how these factors impact their clients. They should also
be conscious of any biases they have and do their best to ensure these biases do not
impact the treatment of the client. Furthermore, future research should continue to
explore these topics to minimize the detrimental effects these factors may have on
47. Analysis Of Double Indemnity Throughout The Course, And
We...
For Writing 39B, we were assigned a project that allowed us to present our
knowledge of the genre conventions that are used in the genre of Noir. We read
the novel Double Indemnity throughout the course, and we also watched its film
adaptation. For this project, I decided to write a script that portrayed a man s
struggle of trying to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry in Las
Vegas. Through his struggle, the message that I presented in my script is that the
difficulty of accomplishing one s dream often drive people to commit unlawful
acts. The process of this project was rather difficult because I was lacking
inspiration. My initial rough draft of the project was a TV show pitch. However,
that initial rough draft was incompetent, and I had to redo my project. An avenue
that could have been considered for this project was an attack on an institution. I
eventually came up with my institution when I took a trip to Las Vegas to watch
Cirque du Soleil s LOVE show by The Beatles, and decided that the institution would
be the entertainment industry. I could have done other areas of the entertainment
industry such as a film or TV show production, but I felt that the portrayal of this
specific show would end up being the most genuine because I went to this show. The
attack I wanted to make on this institution was the competitive and deceitful nature
make it difficult for one to prosper in that line of work. For example, Emma Beavers,
a writer for Experience, a
48. What Is The Diction In The Call Of The Wild
Call Of The Wild
In the classic, Call Of The Wild, by Jack London, Buck, a southland dog from
California, is sold off to gold seekers during the Alaskan Gold Rush. He is thrust
into the brutal and unforgiving life of a sled dog and is vilely treated. Buck then
must adapt to the harsh life he has been placed into by learning to fight and survive
in order to prosper. Years after he was drafted into the gold rush, he is rescued from
his suffering by a man named John Thornton. While bonding with John, Buck is also
growing closer to nature. When Buck was out exploring, John s camp was attacked
by indians, and he is killed. Buck then decides to return to the wild and live like his
ancestors. The author is highly intentional of the diction used in ... Show more content

This first theft marked Buck as fit to survive in the hostile Northland environment.
It marked his adaptability, and his capacity to adjust himself to changing
conditions, the lack of which would have meant swift and terrible death. It marked,
further, the decay or going to pieces of his moral nature, a vain thing and a
handicap in the ruthless struggle for existence. It was all well enough in the
Southland, under the law of love and fellowship, to respect private property and
personal feelings; but in the Northland, under the law of club and fang, whoso took
such things into account was a fool, and in so far he observed them he would fail to
prosper (London 13). The tone transitions from a happy to serious and cruel tone
through diction by changing the author s view of the
49. Analysis Of Usaid s Enterprise Transition Plan Essay
The components of IT products, services, tools, and partner organizations assist
business processes as an Agency wide solution to manage USAID s global portfolio.
The operational strategy includes upgrading and reinforcing existing business and IT
capabilities through a development information system (DIS). Included in USAID s
Internet Technology Strategic Plan 2016 2020, is an enterprise transition roadmap
(ERT) that enhances capabilities needed in security, enterprise information
management, cloud and infrastructure, application modernization, mobility, and
points to the projects necessary for building these capabilities (p. 20). Additional
activities focus on the interdependency of IT systems to enhance human capital and
talent management by streamlining workflows to achieve Agency goals. The strategy
to align information plans in Figure 2 below illustrates USAID s interdependency
strategy. Figure 2: Alignment of Implementation Plans The enterprise transition plan
provides a competitive advantage that maximizes the latest IT technologies from
partnering organizations, suppliers, human capital investments, and government
funding sources. Competitor forces require a consistent reassessment of new and
emerging technologies. The Michael Porter Forces Model illustrates the combined
forces that support USAID s strategy to gain a competitive advantage over market
competitors as seen in Figure 3 below. Figure 3: Porter s Competitive Forces Model
