time-consuming task, as writers must ensure that every citation is not only correct but also
follows the prescribed format.
Creating an accurate reference list poses another hurdle. It involves compiling a comprehensive
list of all sources referenced in the essay, arranging them alphabetically, and adhering to the
specific formatting guidelines set by the Harvard style. This process can be meticulous,
demanding a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Furthermore, writers must navigate the nuances of citing various types of sources, such as books,
articles, websites, and more. Each source type comes with its own set of rules, making the task
of referencing diverse materials both complex and challenging.
Despite the difficulties, mastering Harvard referencing is a valuable skill that contributes to the
academic integrity of an essay. It demonstrates a writer's ability to engage with scholarly works,
attribute ideas appropriately, and present a well-supported argument.

Calorimeter Lab
Introduction This lab we attempted to build a calorimeter that would capture and
transport the most heat to a beaker filled with water from a burning Baked Lays
chip. We burned the chip to transfer the energy to the water. To do this we place our
calorimeter over a stand and place the chip below. In this lab the temperatureof the
water is the dependent variable because it is dependent of the burning of the chip,
while the calorimeter is the independent variable because we can change the structure
of the calorimeter we built.

How Concentration Affects a Reaction
Aim:
The aim of this experiment is to find out how concentration affects the rate of reaction
between Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium
Thiosulphate.
Introduction:
This experiment will be carried out by drawing a cross on a piece of paper and
mixing hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate together to see if the cross
disappears. The concentration of hydrochloric acid would change every reaction to
show that concentration effects a reaction. The time in which the cross took to
disappear would be recorded as well as the temperature at the start and end of the
reaction, the concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sunlight could affect the speed therefore the experiment will take place in the
shade, so that temperature shouldn t change the reaction speed, we will check by
using a thermometer. Also the same amount of hydrochloric acid and sodium
thiosulphate will be mixed each time so that the concentration changes will affect
the same amount of hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate. The concentration
of the hydrochloric acid will be changing each time to test if it speeds up a
reaction. The speed for the light intensity to drop by 10% will be measured after
each attempt so that the affects of concentration changes can be recorded. Each
concentration will be tested three times and an average will be worked out, to see
if there were any anomalies within the experiment. If one result is out of line with
the others then that will be easily identified using graphs and tables. The
concentration has been picked so that there is a range from 0.25M to 2M, at
intervals of 0.5M, 1M, 1.25M and 1.5M.
Prediction:
I predict that the higher the concentration the faster the reaction will take place
meaning the light intensity will drop by 10%. This is because the more concentrated
the hydrochloric acid is the more particles there are to collide, therefore more
effective collisions to break old bonds and make new bonds. 0.25M concentration
would be the slowest reaction and 2M would be the

The Controversial Queen Mary I Queen Of England
Mary I Queen of England was a very controversial queen. She is remembered for
the prosecutions she set in place against the people of Protestant faith. When in
fact Mary I Queen of England was a good queen that suffered many hardships
through her early childhood, her fight for the crown, and even her life during her
reign. Mary s early childhood came with a mix of emotions from her father, King
Henry VIII. Mary was the first child to King Henry, he was very happy when she
was born in 1516 even though she was a girl. To show how much Henry loved
Mary he appointed four people from his staff to simple rock her cradle when she
was sleeping, along with other extravagant gifts, even though at the time Henry had
been hoping for a boy to take over... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the body notices the changes it will interpret it as a real pregnancy and will
start to release hormones familiar with pregnancy, making you believe you are
pregnant. New research is starting to show that a women with many relationship
problems can be at a higher risk to have a phantom pregnancy. This is a good
explanation as to why Queen Mary had at least two phantom pregnancies. She had
such a complicated relationship with her father, and she was in great need for an
heir to the throne, she could have convinced herself she was pregnant. She also
had a very complicated relationship with her husband, who only came to England
when he had to. He was not in love with Mary like she was in love with him. He
was very unpopular in England and he knew no one liked him. The people knew
that a relationship with Spain meant war with France, and England did not want
that. Mary s emotions controlled her political obligations, knowing she should
have chosen another husband to avoid war with France, but her feelings for Philip
overtook her control. While she was in the midst of her phantom pregnancies, May
was still trying to restore the Catholic faith in England. Mary believed that the way
to do this was to charge the Protestant rulers with crimes and burn them at the stake.
As a result over 300 people were burned at the stake, she also had to take care of the
people who tried to keep her off the throne in the beginning. In January 155 John
Hooper, John Rogers and John Cardmaster, were arrested and burned at the stake
after refusing to stop their crimes against the crown. She did however find Jane
Grey guilty of treason but refused to kill her, instead she was kept in a tower until
her death. After she heard that there was an attempt to place her sister Elizabeth on
the throne, Mary arrested Elizabeth and placed her at Woodstock. She was in
disgrace with the queen until April 1555 when Mary wanted
The Importance Of Music

After Joyce pauses her teaching once again, a video plays introducing her ministry.
Meanwhile, ushers move up and down the aisles with offering cards, ensuring that
everyone has at least one. Joyce returns and briefly draws attention to Steven Furtick,
pastor of Elevation Church, and his wife Holly. When Joyce mentions Elevation the
crowd cheers loudly, and the camera shows a shot of Steven and Holly sitting front
and center on floor level. Joyce then introduces the opportunity people will have to
give, but wants to talk about giving first. She connects the gift of Jesus Christ to our
giving gifts; because God gave the best and only, so all of us can help and give our
best. Another video plays telling about Project Girl, a charity that helps women
facing a variety of global challenges. The worship band returns to the stage as people
fill their donation cards, and people stand as they finish giving and join in with the
worship.
After worship, Joyce returns and turns the focus onto her own ministry and the need
for financial support through becoming a partner. She highlights the high cost of
being on TV, and knowingly glances at the audience as she reminds them the
admission price was free freeing them up to be generous elsewhere. The ushers pass
buckets to every row to glean the generosity, and Joyce begins the major teaching
portion of the evening. Joyce relied on her own experience and vulnerability,

Deforestation In Latin America Essay
Deforestation is defined as: the clearing of virgin forests, or intentional destruction or
removal of trees and other vegetation for agricultural, commercial, housing, or
firewood use without replanting and without allowing time for the forest to
regenerate itself (SCRIBD). Deforestation has been a problem in Latin America since
the early 1900s and the severity of the dilemma is increasing rapidly. Deforestation
not only has consequences for the environment, but also, the indigenous people and
the national economy. The logging industry in Latin America is often exploited by
multinational companies that are not properly regulated. The land that has provided
a home and cultivated indigenous development for centuries is being dissipated
rapidly. Due to an exponentially growing global population, there is an increased
demand for low priced goods like timber, crops, and meat. Many Latin American
countries value revenue from selling these goods over the health of their local
ecosystems. The crisis of deforestation and habitat loss is shifting from a local to
global problem. As deforestation continues, global warming escalates worldwide,
impacting every country and person. About 15 percent of global greenhouse gas
emissions come from tropical deforestation, which is more than from all the world s
cars, trucks and buses combined (Schwartzman). Puerto Rico and Brazil provide
contrasting examples of the impact of deforestation. Puerto Rico had an economic
and environmental shift
Similarities Between Civil Rights And Civil Liberties
Civil rights and civil liberties are terms that are often used synonymously, but both
terms are indeed dissimilar.
Civil rights are the basic right to be free from unequal treatment based on race,
gender, disability, etc. Moreover, in settings like employment, education, housing, and
access to public facilities. A civil rightsviolation occurs when an individual is
discriminated against based on a protected characteristic. Most civil rights laws are
established by the federal government via federal legislation or case law to protect
these rights. (Civil Rights vs. Civil Liberties)
Americans are fighting for equality for a long time, and one example is The Civil
Rights Movement. The rights of black people in the United States, despite the
abolition of slavery, remained severely restricted, though progress inched along over
the 100 years following the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1866. However,
black Americans still experienced segregation in all areas of their lives, including
being downgraded to separate areas in public restrooms, waiting rooms, lunch
counters and restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, movie theaters,
and public transportation. Additionally, Black children were required to attend
separate schools, and black skin colored people could only obtain employment in
certain types of jobs. Signs posted in some recreational areas even stated, Negroes
and Dogs Not Allowed. (Civil Rights).
One court case example of civil right was the case
Impact Of Natural Resources On Economic Growth
QUESTION 9
Natural resource and its effect on economic growth and dynamics of conflicts.
1.0 Introduction
Natural resources are raw materials extracted from the earth. They are useful in many
different ways for its diversified opportunity of benefit and profit for economic
development. Examples of natural resources are mineral, oil, waterways, land,
timber, diamonds, coals, coltan and genetic. Majority of developing countries,
distributions of natural resources vary from one geographic location to another. The
variability of location has caused greed and grievances in economic development.
This was attributed to more risk of conflict, weak governance, and poor economic
performance.
2.0 Effect of natural resources on economic growth.
According to Collier and Hoeffer (2003), there are three major factors that depend on
the primary commodity exports such as income per capita, rate of economic growth,
and structure of the economy, the higher the rate of primary commodities exports the
higher the level of risk of conflict. Developing countries that are dependent on natural
resources are more liable to terms of trade shocks, which leads to instability and
dissatisfaction within the groups that suffer the shocks. Since natural resources are
wealth and unevenly distributed causes the rebel groups ventures in various forms of
extortion, exploitation, and trade of primary commodity. The best known types of
conflict are the diamond of Angola and

The Iran Contra Affair The Public
During the Iran Contra affair the public, as well as congress, were left in the dark
about a deal was made with the enemy country of Iran to sell weapons to them to
aid in their war with Iraq. Once sold the Profit were given to the Contras in
Nicaragua. I will be arguing that advertising dollars, using the military as a source,
and flak were used to skew the public s perception of how the affair took place.
When all of this began President Reagan had told Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North,
who also worked as the head of the National Security Council, that he needed a way
to get Iranback on our side after the fall of their previous leader Mohammad Reza
Shah Pahlavi, known as The Shah . While The Shah was in power Iran was one of

Now North had to find a way to both help the president fulfill his desire of getting
Iran back on our side and helping the Anti Communist regime down in south
America. So North, along with other government officials, sold the 12.5 million
dollars worth of weapons to Iran for 30 million. To avoid detection the 12.5 million
was transferred into an American bank account while the remaining profit of 17.5
million was transfer to a Swiss bank account. From there the money was wired to the
Contras and used in the war effort. Once this information had started spreading
throughout the American public artist began to make work based on the Conflict
as both a way of raising awareness and to put blame on those who are responsible.
When looking at Steve Greenberg s work you see he is focusing on President
Reagan and adding in type that is an American citizen s point of view on how that
affair took place. Each from does not play out second to second but more in one
motion then the next used as a way to show a longer period of time passing.
President Reagan was known for always having jelly beans on his desk so that
artist uses that as a way for the viewer to recognize who it is without writing it
somewhere on the page. This was one of multiple pieces of work Greenburg did as a
way of letting the American people know that even though he may not be taking
blame for it, the President knew what was happening. Others

From the beginning of time, there has always been wildlife. The animals and
plants of our wildlife contribute to what makes this life so interesting. If all
wildlife were to go extinct, then we would not have a way to replenish the oxygen

The Endangered Species Preservation Act of 1966 authorized the Secretary of
Interior to spend $15 million per year to purchase habitats for the species on the
endangered list. This act also required protection of these species on federal land.
All land belonging to the public that was not government was not required but
were encouraged to. Many benefits have come from these law acts that have been
set in place. Recovery plans have been put into place to help our animals and
plants replenish. While doing this, exemptions can and do occur. If there is a
project to be done within a habitat of a listed species, then the ESA must notify the
FWS and National Marine Fisheries Service. Once listed species reached a level of
stable existence again, they were delisted. As of 2011, fifty one species had been
delisted. Any kind of harming, wounding, or killing is considered to be a violation.
Violations of these laws have a variety of penalties. The maximum fine is up to
$50,000 or a year of imprisonment, possibly both. I do absolutely believe this law
has improved our societies and environments due to helping original life to be
sustained. These animals and plants were created to be on this earth. They did not
choose to be here and did not choose to be killed for human pleasure. This law has
given these listed species another chance.

The Consequences of Ignoring a Hail Damaged Roof
Hail, one of Mother Nature s wonders, is a serious threat to your home. These ice
balls can do significant damage to your home during a hailstorm, including
damaging your roof. However, hail damage can get worse if you delay roofing repairs.
Hail Can Damage Shingles
The shingles on your roof form an elaborate system that protects you from
moisture. Installed at an angle and sealed to repel moisture, your shingles are one
of many barriers safeguarding your home. However, when hail strikes your roof,
these dense, high velocity balls of ice can displace your shingles. Once a shingle is
displaced, the seal is broken, and water could get into you home. If you ignore this
repair, the leaking roof could cause mold to grow in your home, creating more
problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a shingle is no longer on your roof, then it can t prevent your warm air from
escaping from the roof of your home. As the warm air leaves, you ll find cool air

The Sniper by Liam O´Flaherty and Just Lather,
That´s...
Murder is a reprobate action that is an inevitable part of war. It forces humans into
immoral acts, which can manifest in the forms such as shooting or close combat.
The life of a soldier is ultimately decided from the killer, whether or not he follows
through with his actions. In the short stories The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty and Just
Lather, That s All by Hernando TГ©llez, the killer must decide the fate of their
victims under circumstantial constraints. The two story explore the difference
between killing at a close proximity compared to killing at a distance, and how they
affect the killer s final decision.
The perspective of the two stories allow the reader to perceive the sense of proximity
the protagonist has with their victim. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The different points of view give an understanding of the relationship the
protagonists are to their victims. The methods of killing at certain distances can
determine whether or not the killer is able to follow through with murder. In The
Sniper, the sniper s enemy is on opposite side of the street, fifty years ahead (O
Flaherty). He is armed with rifle and a gun and is his main weaponry in killing.
However, Just Lather, That s All takes place in a barber shop where the barber is
close enough Captain Torres to slit his throat while shaving him (TГ©llez). His
only means of killing Captain Torres is to cut him with his razor and let him die of
exsanguination. The two contrasting methods of killing cause a physiological
effect that influence the killer s choice to execute. The sniper is killing his enemy
from a distance and only knows the general characteristics on his targets. He does
not have to feel his victims die in his hands nor does he have to deal with the
corpses. However, the barber must slit Captain Torres throat and watch out of his
neck a gush of blood [...] onto the sheet, on the chair, on [his] hands (TГ©llez). He
would have to physically manoeuver the body out of his shop and dispose of it. The
direct contact with the victim attenuates the urge to kill, whereas the indirect killing
with a gun does not affect the killer. The mental nearness of the killer to the victim
also affects to killer s final decision. The

One of the two was called The education trust a nonprofit organization. One of the
many works that they do in order to get recognized, was informative events to
influence advocates, parents and policy makers. Just like our NOCASH interest
group, their main focus is for kids living in poverty and kids of color.
However they used some strategies that I never thought about using in the NOCASH
group, one of them was the analyzing of local, state and national data to further our
knowledge and understand the causes and how to help students reach a higher

The second main organization was MDRC created in 1974 by the Ford

organizations that have the same goal set as them. One of the strategies that I
would take from this group is having a website in where people can discuss about
what they feel that there is need to be a change. However; not only work with one
group of people but those who are low income, as well for kids who have had a

The Food Waste And Recycling
Food Waste Recycling
There are billions of people struggling every day to have enough to eat, and billions
of tons of food being tossed in the garbage, food waste is gaining increasing
awareness as a serious environmental and economic issue. Research shows that about
60 million metric tons of food is wasted a year in the United States, with an estimated
value of $162 billion. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills, at a cost of
about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My
research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never
consumed, and the total cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a
year. The food discarded by retailers and consumers in the most developed
countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s hungry people, but
it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue
in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as
the world s population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food
waste is not only a social cost, but it contributes to growing environmental problems
like global warming, experts say, with the production of food consuming vast
quantities of water, fertilizer and land. The fuel that is burned to process, refrigerate
and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown away
in landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent

Hello. I am Sonia Maria Sotomayor, the first Latina Supreme Court Justice in U.S

IASB Conceptual Framework

Date: Nov 11, 2017
Dear Sir,
I am writing this report in order to outline one change that I believe needs to be made
to the Conceptual Framework. I have attached the report that details the change and
the rationale for the change for your kind consideration.
Thanking You,

Introduction
The IASB conceptual framework is a framework of theories prepared by a standard
setting body aimed t dealing with practical problems faced by users of financial
statements; the characteristics of accounting information; the elements of financial
statements and concepts for measuring and reporting the elements such as assets and
liabilities (Financial Times 2017). The benefit is that uniform accounting standards
can be applied to deal with common accounting problems; have fewer standards to
reduce the volume of standards; help accountants and auditors to resolve accounting
issues. However one of the issues is the going concern assumption, which does not
appear to take into account more serious risks that an enterprise may be associated
with such as sustainability risks.
The problem/Change
One of the problems with the conceptual framework is that it does not address the
principle of sustainability within its going concern assumption even in the recent
Summary of Tentative Decisions related to the framework (IFRS 2017). Therefore it
is proposed that the conceptual framework
The Pros And Cons Of The Taliban
The Taliban is an Islamic fundamentalist political movement . It spread throughout
Afghanistan and formed a government, ruling as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
from September 1996 until December 2001. It gained diplomatic recognition from
only three states: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. While in
power, it enforced a rigid interpretation of Sharia, or Islamic law. The Taliban
arose
out of the utter revulsion felt by particularly pious former mujahedeen (jihadists)
living in Pakistan, who thought it their responsibility to punish their peers whom they
regarded as morally bankrupt, and concurrently enforce sharia law. The Taliban
practice and promote political Islam and their tremendously strict and anti modern
ideology. In areas controlled by the Taliban, efforts to impose a very constricted...

Elementary education of children, mostly girls, was shut down in Kabul, where
nearly all of the elementary school teachers were women. One of the biggest
atrocities that the Taliban has continually inflicted upon women is depriving them of
an education. The Taliban has gone to extreme and brutal lengths to not only
prevent women from going to school but to punish those who do. In Mingora,
Pakistan the Taliban had set an edict that no girls could attend school after January
15, 2009. The group had already blown up more than a hundred girls schools. As a
child, Malala Yousafzai became an advocate for girls education, which followed with
the Taliban broadcasting a death threat against her. On October 9, 2012, a gunman

Fractional Distillation Lab Report
Fractional Distillation of Esters
Introduction
Fractional Distillation is a method used for the separation of mixtures by each of the
components. This method separates mixtures with pure substances of similar boiling
points by heating the mixture and trapping the vapor in a condenser after it passes
through the fractioning column. This ensures that the substance being condensed is
fully separated from the mixture (Holmquist, 2007).
This experiment studied the fractional distillation of a butyl acetate and ethyl acetate
mixture and analyzed the fractions obtained at different temperature levels.
Specifically, this experiment sought to analyze the retention times and peak areas of
ethyl and butyl acetate in each fraction and compare these ... Show more content on

Once each fraction was collected, it was immediately transferred to a flask, which
was sealed with sealing tape and ParaFilm. After all of the fractions were collected,
the flasks were placed in a larger graduated cylinder to prevent evaporation. The
graduated cylinder was stored for one week before analysis (Holmquist, 2007).
Part II
Goggles, a small glass syringe, and a LabQuest were all obtained, along with the
fractional vials and containers of an ethyl acetate/butyl acetate mixture, acetone to
prepare the syringe, and pure ethyl and butyl acetate respectively. The LabQuest was
attached to a Vernier Mini GC and turned on. Before the analysis began, the
Temperature Pressure profile was set according to the parameters below.

and flushed with acetone. This was accomplished by depressing the plunger fully,
filling it about one third of the way with acetone, and expelling the liquid onto a
KimWipe. This process was done about three times to ensure that the syringe was
clean. This same process was also done with ethyl acetate before it was injected. After

International Monetary Fund And The World Bank
THE WORLD BANK AND IMF HIPC
International Monetary Fund and The World Bank, though has a good purpose of

Methods Of The Collection Of Aerosols
Methods of the collection of aerosols for analysis
Analysis of the composition of aerosols is very important for the development of
many different industries and areas of study; however this analysis is challenging
because aerosol particles can be difficult to collect.1 Aerosol particles can be
collected onto a substrate and then analysed. The collection surface can be a porous
medium such as a filter operating at a low flow rate whereby some or all of the
particles suspended in the aerosol flow are retained. In many applications particles
from the gas flow are extracted by an externally applied force e.g. in a centrifuge or
electrostatic precipitator. The collection process should result in the sample taken
being representative of the aerosol in its original state therefore it should not be
chemically changed in the process. Characteristics such as mass, number
concentration and size distribution of particles should remain unchanged however it
is difficult to prevent these changes.2
Aerosols consist of solid or liquid particles in a gaseous medium; therefore the
particles must be filtered and/or extracted into solution to prepare for chemical
analysis. However carboxylic acid and carbonyl containing compounds present in
aerosols react with commonly used organic solvents such as methanol over a
timeframe of minutes to hours. Although an extraction solvent can be selected so
that it does not react with the aerosol particles, the solvent used will be dependent on

impoverished family. With little to no financial support, he decided to take the
initiative and worked hard in school. His perseverance paid off, and he was able to
attend many top notch schools in Chile; the first one being The National Institute
located in Lima, Peru. Many would suspect that Noriega would fail due to his
impoverished upbringing, rather than succeed at such preeminent institutions. At the
conclusion of his high school career, Noriega continued to grow his education

Noriega became known as a serious threat to these leaders, he developed into one

Ukiyo-E Research Paper
The name of the art form, ukiyo e, translates to paintings of the floating world . They
are Japanese woodblock prints that flourished during the Edo Period (1603 1867) and
depicted subjects associated with impermanence and detachment from ordinary life.
Among these subjects were the popular geisha, sumo, and kabuki actors set in this

artists.
The themes in ukiyo e focused on fleeting beauty and evanescent worlds; it was an
escape from the boring and mundane world of responsibilities in everyday life. At
first, Ukiyo e artworks were all monochromatic and printed in black ink only.
However, Suzuki Harunobu developed polychrome printing by the 18th century.

At the same time, it expanded to reflect modern tastes and innovations over its
development. The result was an art that was both populist and highly sophisticated.
Ukiyo e presented both the historical and all that was current, elegant, contemporary,
and popular. The ordinary was transformed into the extraordinary in the hands of the
artist.
Each image was created through a collaboration of four skilled individuals: the
artist who designed the works and drew them in ink, the carver who carved the
designs into a woodblock, the printer who applied pigments to the woodblock and
printed each color on handmade paper, and the publisher who coordinated the efforts
of the artists and marketed the artworks. In spite of this collaborative effort, only the
artist and publisher were almost always accredited.
Midway through the 18th century, new techniques were created to allow the full
color printing and ukiyo e we see today on calendars and postcards. Some of the most
famous artists during this period were Utamaro, Hokusai, Sharaku, and
Settlers Vs. New England Colonies
Facing the New World
Entering a new territory filled with countless opportunities and possibilities came
with prices to pay and times of hardships for the pioneers from England. They
quickly came to realize that the grass was not always greener on the other side. They
settled in different areas along the east coast, such as New England, which included
New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. The other
settlers came ashore just south of New England called the Chesapeake region, which
included Virginia and Maryland. When comparing the two groups, they both had
different and similar ways of thinking and establishing life in this new and unfamiliar
territory. Without a doubt, both experienced obstacles that they were forced... Show

Since Virginia was a predominantly agricultural region, the social gap between
wealthy and poor was exponential. In Virginia, there were the wealthy farmers and
the poor slaves. There were very few middle class citizens. The main source of
income for the Chesapeake region was trade and distribution of tobacco. Still lacking
a substantial amount of females, the colony did not expand as fast as it potentially
could have.
New England lacked a significant social gap. Mostly everyone was middle class
with the exception of a very few. While New England was able to have some type
of agriculture, they relied mostly on industries such as shoemakers and blacksmiths
and trade. Factors such as population and resources allowed them to develop rapidly.
This lead to large cities for this era and a healthy economy.
Ecological differences forced different economical strategies for the two groups of
settlers to pursue. However, the differences in them opened up a way of trade. Both
New England and Virginia benefited from trade by getting things they desired that
were difficult for them to obtain on their
Crucial Confrontation In Billy Bud Sailor
Crucial Confrontation Imagine having someone hate you with all their being. In the
book, Billy Bud Sailor, the seemingly lovable Billy Bud, experienced exactly this.
Immediately after coming aboard the Bellipotent, a war ship, the young handsome
soldier hit it off with all his crew members. That is, all except one. Claggart, the
master at arms, held a higher rank than Billy on the ship, however, for some
unknown reason he hated Billy, and constantly sought out ways to make his life
harder. One day, a wise old man came to the naГЇve Billy, telling him of Claggart s
hatred towards him, and warning him to act cautiously around the master at arms.
Claggart s disdain towards him, confuses Billy a great deal, as he refused to accept
it for a significant matter of time. Everyone who reads this story wants Billy and
Claggart to resolve their differences and get along. However, some believe the Billy
confronted Claggart about the problem seemed the right approach, while others
think he most definitely should not confront him. Billy should have confronted
Claggart about his hatred. Claggart caused trouble for Billy, peace stood crucial for
the ship, and the Bible showed support for this decision. Clearly Billy needed to
confront Claggart about their issues. For starters, Claggart caused trouble for Billy.
At the start of his hatred, Claggart acted friendly towards Billy, causing him not to
suspect anything. This alone put Billy in danger, because he lived unaware of the
malice

Holding Off Your Dreams
People often feel that it is impossible to fulfill their dreams. As shown in the Great
Depression of the 1930s, the pressure of achieving goals when faced with economic
conflict makes dreams even harder to reach. If dreams aren t fulfilled one often falls
under a melancholy state; or state of depression. Of Mice and Men by John
Steinbeck and A DreamDeferred by Langston Hughes both portray, by using

Danes feel and truly believe, work gets itself done (Buettner, 2011, p.41). The
people only work a total of thirty seven hours a week and are sure to take up to six

makes Saturn one of the most interesting planets in our solar system. Saturnhas a
numerous amount of qualities that most planets don t have. For example, Saturn is
the least dense planetin our solar system even though it is the second largest planet.
What this means is that if there were a giant ocean that Saturn can fit in, then the
whole planet would just float to the top of the water. Not only that, but 1 year on

Some of the rings are visible and some of them are not. All four of our solar system
s gas giants have rings, but the reason Saturn stands out from the other planets is
because you can actually see its rings unlike the others who have faded rings. The
rings may be large in size, but Saturn s rings are only less that 1 kilometer thick.
Not only does Saturn have very thin rings, but Saturn also has a handful of rings.
Although it might seem that Saturn has just one enormous ring, it has several
rings that are placed, not combined, into groups to make them look like one giant
ring. Some of these groups are visible, but there are a numerous amount that are
not. The groups that aren t visible are instead of away from Saturn. If you look at a
picture of Saturn s rings you can see that the more the rings go towards the planet,
the less visible they become. Some of these groups have gaps in between each
other, such as ring A which is the ring that is farthest away from Saturn and ring B
which is closest to ring A. The gap between these two rings is the most visible of
all the gaps in between Saturn s rings due to how immense it is compared to other

Summary of the First Research Paper:
The first article named Phantom Limb Syndrome has defined the phantom limb
syndrome as the perception of the sensations on the amputated limb. In the article it
was mentioned that the brain still receive messages from removed limb through the
nerves. This article has also mentioned that the exact cause of the syndrome is
unknown. In the article it was mentioned that sensations are due to the brain s attempt
to reorganize sensory information following the amputation. The brain must
essentially rewire itself to adjust to the changes in the body (Scheinberg, 2015). The
article points out that the adult are more likely to suffer from phantom limb
syndrome than children. The article also mentioned that there are various risk factors
which increase the risk of developing the phantom limb syndrome can be the pre
amputation pain, infection, damage on the spinal cord or nerves that supplied to the
affected limb, blood clot on the amputated limb, etc.
The first article named Phantom Limb Syndrome goes more into details describing
some symptoms that may occur on the amputees. The amputated limb can make them
feel the sensation of stabbing, shooting, burning or piercing. They can also feel
numbness, tickling or cramping. That is not all; the amputated limb can also make a
person feel pleasure. There can be treatment for the phantom limb syndrome. After
amputation it is very necessary to tell the doctor if there is any sensation or pain

meaning. Have you ever asked yourself serious questions about the significance,
implications, and roles of numbers? For example, Why does the number ten denote a
change to double digits? Is zero a number or a non number? Or, the matter this paper
will address: Why does the number three hold an understood and symbolic
importance?

Therefore, I offer what I call the Utility Based Approach, which attempts to explain
the prominence of three by noting its usefulness in telling fairy tales. Indeed, the
Utility Based Approach proposes that three, being the smallest possible number that
denotes a group, is a useful entity when recalling a tale whose audience is assumed to
either (1) desire mental relaxation, or (2) lack advanced/complex mental capabilities.
Background/Historical Context
Three has a logical reason for its important role throughout history. It is not merely
the number that happens to fall between two and four. Three is the union of oneness
and duality. It is the first number that is a combination of various previous numbers
(assuming, as most societies have done, that zero is not a number). One and two are
special as they are representations of oneness and otherness , but three starts the
procession of all other numbers to follow (the set of numbers, 3 infinity, that can be
the sum of a variety of previous numbers) (Symbolism). Whether this is realized
consciously or subconsciously, it is an undeniable truth that seems hard to avoid.
Indeed, this idea could be what gave rise to the spiritual significance of three.
Three has always played an important part in the Judeo/Christian beliefs, as Ken
Bassett outlines in his Pastor Note No. 138. First, and probably most
Postoperative Hypertension
Postoperative hypertension may cause serious adverse events with both cardiac and
non cardiac patients.1 3 Postoperative hypertension generally occurs within 30
minutes after surgery has been completed and may last up to two hours. Acute
perioperative hypertension occurs in 80% of people undergoing cardiac surgery and
25% of people undergoing non cardiac surgeries, such as head and neck surgery or
renal transplantation. If not treated appropriately, an acute increase in bloodpressure
may be related to further undesired complications, such as myocardial ischemia,
stroke, bleeding, and heartfailure. Hypertensive emergencies such as postoperative
hypertensionare more common in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes
mellitus, or renal disease. The main risk factor... Show more content on

Hypertension is presented as an increase in blood pressure. Blood pressure is the
product of increased cardiac output and systemic vascular resistance. The risk factors
are what attribute to the pathophysiology of postoperative hypertension. Hypercarbia
causes an increase in catecholamine concentrations, which increases blood pressure.
To decrease the risk of end organ damage and surgery complications associated with
hypertension, therapy should be initiated in patients with systolic blood pressure
above 180 mmHg or a diastolic blood pressure above 110 mmHg once the risk factors
(pain, hypercarbia, and excitement on emergence of anesthesia) of postoperative
hypertension have been treated. There are many complications and other underlying
conditions may be associated with patients postoperatively and the medications
chosen to initiate should be based on each individual patient. The ideal medication to
treat postoperative hypertension has a quick onset and a short duration of

Investigation of Human Emotion Essay
Investigation of Human Emotion
A key aspect of human behaviour is the ability to sense and feel emotions. Emotions
are defined as phenomena that are perceived by the body that causes a reaction;
often these responses have physiological characteristics. This essay will look at the
many psychological/ biological theories and ideologies involved in the concept of
emotion.
Human kind has evolved over the years to accommodate innovations in its biological,
physiological, psychological and social lifestyle. Information about the ways humans
can live appropriately have been passed on since the beginning of creation. New data
is also brought to attention as individuals have enhanced their intellect. The ... Show

Many theories have been proposed on emotion the simplest is known as the common
sense theory. This basically attributes emotion as a response to an experience, there is
a connection between the emotion and the visceral organs that are controlled by our
autonomic nervous system. For example one may face a hazardous situation such as
being confronted by a lion; this will trigger a part of the body that concludes danger.
This theory was disputed by one the most influential psychologists of the 19th
century, William James proposed that the common sense theory is incorrect the
individual in fact the emotions are a consequence of the bodily change. If one
perceives a dangerous situation there will be an immediate impact on the bodily
function e.g. increase heart rate this will then cause the individual to encounter an
emotional state.
William James s theory was claimed to be too simple to account for and there was
scope for further investigation to be carried out. Cannon bard had proposed a theory
that focused on cognitive mechanisms in emotion. They argued that emotions start
before any bodily changes, the recognition of danger for example will simultaneously
cause a change in bodily function and experience of an emotion. Another drawback to
James theory has been the notion of perception, Arnold challenges that the individual
has to
Aristotle s Views On Happiness
Aristotle, Epicurus, Epictetus, Boethius, Augustine, and Aquinas connected on
writing about the phenomenon of human happiness. Through these philosophers,
various ideologies on happiness gets to be distinctly conceivable for one to
distinguish and recognize the difference between what people think or feel happiness
is and what the true state of happiness is.
In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle said happiness is the value and reason for every
good thing, so happiness is deserving of respect. For Aristotle, happiness involves
flourishing or prospering by striving for a purposeful life of excellence. Happiness
depends not on a feeling, rather the whole about your moral character, and the ability
to exercise proper temperance and suitable ethics over a period by virtue. In Politics,
Aristotle explained that humanity does not gain virtue by possession of meaningless
material substance, happiness is found with the people who are most refined in their
thinking and character. According to Aristotle, bravery, unselfishness, intelligence,
love, friendship, lawfulness, family relationships, political participation and
citizenship are indispensable character traits for one to prosper and experience
happiness.
Epicurus believed the point of life is to accomplish happiness by pursuit of pleasure
and evasion of pain and fear. In Letter to Menoeceus in Epicurus, The Art of
Happiness, he notably contended that man ought to free himself of unreasonable pain
emerging from unnecessary fear
Essay on Most Famous Work and the People Who

Most famous work
Edward Witten is most known for proving the string theory using a mathematical
equation. Werner Heisenberg s research in 1943 became the base from which the
string theory grew from. Yoichiro Nambu, Holger Bech Nielsen, and Leonard
Susskind first had the idea of string theory in 1970, but the scientific community lost
interest quickly. Due to the discovery of quantum chromodynamics, John. H Schwarz
and Joel Scherk where able to study boson (elementary particle) patterns and found
that they acted as strings and that their properties matched graviton (elementary
particle). This discovery led to the bosonic string theory, which was the first string
theory that is still taught to students as they are starting to understand the ... Show

Witten is also known for his mathematical achievements. Witten was the first
physicist ever to win the Fields medal; one of his more known contributions to the
mathematics field was his ability to understand the Jones polynomial. These are only
a few of the countless contributions Witten has made to science and mathematics.

Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac
While discussing Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Aldo Leopold s A Sand
County Almanac, we attempted to address an important challenge Is the close
observation and description of nature merely an idle thing for people in today s
world? It could be suggested that nature writing and the close enjoyment of natural
environments is merely recreational and not intellectually, economically, or
politically worthy of our efforts. Perhaps this activity has spiritual value or gives us
a sense of peace. But does it really have anything to do with the way we live in the
world today? It seems to me that this question is central to the whole course of study
and that we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just learning to see and hear is difficult; but learning the language of nature requires
work. It is no trivial task.
None of this quite answers the challenge, above, though. Perhaps an inclusive view
of nature is difficult and non trivial, but it still might be construed as an idle fancy.
How can we say that it is important? Why is the expansion of our world view to a
nature inclusive view a matter of importance. Answering this challenge, I can only
say that nature is our home place. Thus, life as our culture is trying to live it, within
its human centered self satisfied world is life dragged out into an alien environment.
Humans are natural creatures and they can be correctly observed and understood only
within the natural world. They need the whole context! In this sense, we go, like
Thoreau, to observe nature in order to observe ourselves in the truest sense. This is
not only non trivial; it is also indispensible. Humans must learn to see themselves
truthfully.
It is too easy for us to say, Oh, I see nature in that way, all the time. After all, many of
us watch nature programs on The Learning Channel. That is why nature writing is
such an important criterion. It is learning to use language in the description and the
celebration of nature that completes our world journey. Language, as Jim Cheney has
written, is performative. When I name a bird that I
Erik Eriskson s Eight Stages of Personality Development
Erik Erikson was a psychoanalyst and based his work off of Sigmund Freud s
ideas about the structure and topography of personality. Unlike Freud s idea that
personality is shaped by the age of five, Erikson believed that personality continues
to change over the life span. With this theory in mind, Erikson came up with a stage
theory of personality development. Stage theories assume that (1) individuals must
progress through specified stages in a particular order, because each stage builds on
the previous stage, (2) progress through these stages is strongly related to age, and
(3) development is marked by a major discontinuities that usher in dramatic
transitions in behavior (Weiten, 2008). Erikson s stage theory was broken down into
eight stages that progressed through life. Each stage encountered a crisis that needed
to be resolved before the person could move onto the next stage. Each stage builds
upon what has gone before and carries elements of itself into future stages (Hopkins,
1995). The eight stages Erikson purposed were trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame
and doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. confusion, intimacy
vs. isolation, generativity vs. self absorption, and integrity vs. despair (Guinee, 1998).
Stage one, trust vs. mistrust, children would ask the question whether their caregivers
met their needs or not. This stage happened between birth and one year of age
(Dunkel Sefcek, 2009). Maternal relationships also plays
Pauli Exclusion Principle
Pauli Exclusion Principle
Wolfgang Ernst Pauli was an Austrian theoretical physicist famous for his work on
the spin and quantum theory, and for the beneficial finding of the Pauli exclusion
principle. Pauli was born on April 25th, 1900 and died on December 15th, 1958. He
was a Foreign Member of the Royal Society of London and a member of the Swiss
Physical Society, the American
Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Pauli helped to set in place the basis of the atomic theory. His suggestion of the
hypothesis explaining the behavior of electrons in atoms first came out in 1925.
Then in 1945, he was awarded the Nobel
Prize in Physics for his help and contribution to the atomic theory, through ... Show

Pauli solved a vexing difficulty by introducing a new quantum number,
which is a quantity that was later called spin, and that became part of the Pauli
exclusion principle. The second contribution he made was on the quantum field
theory. Quantum field theory is a combined element of quantum mechanics and
subatomic scale, which is a particle that is smaller then an atom like a quark and
describes the properties of molecules and atoms of electron, protons, and neutrons.
Quantum mechanics deals with the behavior of matter and light on the atomic
subatomic scale. These particles are known to interact with each other with
electromagnetic radiation. An electromagnetic radiation is the flow of energy at the
speed of light through free space. An example of this radiation would be through
light or x rays. The last contribution was Pauli s discovery of the existence of the
neutral particles, later known as neutrinos. It was used to preserve the conservation of
energy in nuclear beta decay.
Pauli was born in Vienna, Austria. His father was the chemist and physician Wolfgang
Joseph Pauli and his mother was the writer Bertha Camilla Schutz. He also had a
younger sister,
Hertha, who became an actress and author. Pauli s godfather, Ernst Mach, from whom
he got his middle name, was the famous Austrian physicist and psychologist who
studied the action of bodies moving and developed a method
The Problem of Definition of Religion Essay
The Problem of Definition of Religion
The study of religion is problematic. There are so many dimensions to religion
(belief, practice, experience, knowledge and consequences) that it is impossible to
provide a conclusive definition.
Most sociologists do not believe in God.
Functionalist views on Religion
The functionalist analysis of religion is concerned with the contribution religion
makes to meeting society s needs such as social solidarity, value consensus and
harmony and integration between its parts.

В· Maintains Social Order: Parsons sees religion as a means of adjusting to
unforeseen events such as death etc. religion helps people readjust to normal. It helps
us to deal with uncertainty.
В· Provides meaning: Religion provides meaning to life and makes sense of our
experiences. It justifies suffering in terms of testing faith, punishment or rewarding
afterlife. It answers fundamental questions and helps us understand why things
happen.
Malinowski
Malinowski sees religion as reinforcing social norms and values and promoting social
solidarity.
В· Life Crisis Situations that produce anxiety and tension include crises of life such
as birth, death etc. These life crises are surrounded by rituals e.g. Christening,
funerals etc.
В· Prediction and Control: Undertaking that cannot be controlled or predicted also
produces tension and anxiety. Malinowski noted that such events were surrounded by
rituals. Rituals reduce anxiety by providing confidence and a feeling of control.
Malinowski argues that religion promotes social solidarity by dealing with situations
of emotional stress that threaten
Dr. R. Jesse Tuck
Ninety years have flown by since Winnie Foster first met the immortal Tucks in the
woods. Jesse tuck now 194 years old, went in search to find his beloved Winnie
Foster. If Winnie had drunk from the magical spring, she would still be alive today.
Jesse was feeling distressed, he couldn t stop thinking about whether or not Winnie
drunk from the spring. If she hadn t drunk the water it would be hard for Jesse to
find someone who will be with him forever. Jesse was talking to a man at a
restaurant and he had said that the woods where the spring lied had been
bulldozed. If the man was telling the truth, this meant that no other girl would be
able to live forever with Jesse Tuck. As Jesse left the restaurant on his motorcycle,
he then arrived at the house Winnie Foster once lived in. As he made his way to
the backyard he saw a gravestone under a tree. Jesse was startled to see a young
girl approach the gravestone to lay flowers, he jumped behind a tree but he still
caught the eye of the young girl. She had long, thick, wavy brown hair just like
Winnie did. Her sparkling blue eyes and golden skin made Jesse wonder if that was
his love Winnie Foster. Jesse came out from behind the tree and ran up and hugged
the young girl. Winnie I found you! Jesse said relived Umm... sorry sir, my name
is Aggie. Who are you? The young girl replied Sorry. Allow me to introduce myself,
my name is Jesse Tuck. I m looking for a girl named Winnie Foster Jesse questioned

My Reasons for Joining the Marine Corps Essay
Most or all of my reasons for joining the Marines are as follows.
Ideal The Marines Embody more of my personal views and ideals then the other
branches of the armed services.
Loyalty, I respect and love the idea of loyalty to a person or persons...or a cause. To
be totally loyal to something without question but to also love and honor that
something, that idea is something I long for and adore.
Which leads me to Honor as well. I have, since I discovered it in middle school I
believe, always respected the idea of Honor. It means a lot to me. Its ideal a person
can build and guide their beliefs on as well as their standards. Honor Goes hand and
hand with Loyatly. To be loyal to a cause greater then my own is one reason that drove

Honor Embodies a lot to me. The Marines offer me this. The other forces scoff at
such an idea. I want to be a part of something that respects and admires such traits as
I have and believe in. Again the Marines offer me this. I know not all Marine respect
my ideas, but at least I ll look forward to meeting and becoming a part of a group,
however small or big, that has the same beliefs and ideals. Im tired of being around
people that scoff and laugh at such things. I have met very people that respect the
idea of Honor. The Honor that I think and believe in, has given me a strong sense
of Morals and Ethics. Those that know me well will see this. Over the years it has
deteriorated a bit. Going into something that respects and teaches this will help me
build up to...and past the standard I have set for and used to have for myself. The
Marines are a Brotherhood. Modern day Knights, I know not all are. Infact most
probably arent. All the branches are infested with sex crazed drunkards, the Marines
especially. Not all are like that, and I look forward to finding the select few that are
not, but share my same ideals and thoughts. I plan on joining and setting a new
standard.
Pride, I want to be a part of something that has an immense amount pride. That
practically drips with it. But not just any kind of pride. But a type of Pride that
Literature Review On Dehumidifiers
LITERATURE REVIEW 3.1 Literature Review The experimental analysis of a hybrid
liquid desiccant dehumidifier system by Nanda Kishore. The desiccant chosen for the
analysis is aqueous solution of calcium chloride. The effect of different operating
variables on performance of both dehumidifier and regenerator are studied. The
parameters studied are the effect of mass air flow rate, air inlet temperature, and
desiccant inlet temperature. The practicability of dehumidification of supply air by
the desiccant loop of the hybrid system is demonstrated. A S Alosaimy is
experimented to Concentration of desiccant solution regenerated by solar energy.
Experimental results show that solution with 30% concentration can be regenerated
up to 50% using solar energy. It was found that as the regeneration temperature was
increased, moisture absorbing capacity of air was increased. As the regeneration
temperature was increased, the dehumidification rate in the absorber was increased.
The moisture removal rate was increased with the increasing in regeneration. As the
inlet temperature of desiccant was increased, the dehumidification was reduced in the
absorber, indicated the reduction in moisture removal capacity.... Show more content

The article titled, 5 Maps and Charts That Will Surprise You by Ezra Klein asks,
Which chart did you find the most surprising? The chart I found the most
surprising was the chart that was titled, Switzerland is the best place to be born
because I thought that the U.S. would be a better place to be born. Also, I didn t
know that the geography of a place needs to be counted to determine if children
have the best chance of a happy, safe and prosperous life. I also didn t think that
trust in public institutions and the health of family life counted in children having
the best chance for a happy, safe and prosperous life. I didn t think these would be
needed because these don t seem that important to live a happy, safe, and prosperous

  • 2. Calorimeter Lab Introduction This lab we attempted to build a calorimeter that would capture and transport the most heat to a beaker filled with water from a burning Baked Lays chip. We burned the chip to transfer the energy to the water. To do this we place our calorimeter over a stand and place the chip below. In this lab the temperatureof the water is the dependent variable because it is dependent of the burning of the chip, while the calorimeter is the independent variable because we can change the structure of the calorimeter we built. Literature Review Kinetic energy is the energy of the mass in motion (Lucas). Kinetic energy can be found with the equation ВЅmv^2. How concentration affects the rate of reaction between Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Thiosulphate Chemistry Coursework How Concentration Affects a Reaction Aim: The aim of this experiment is to find out how concentration affects the rate of reaction between Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Thiosulphate. Introduction: This experiment will be carried out by drawing a cross on a piece of paper and mixing hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate together to see if the cross disappears. The concentration of hydrochloric acid would change every reaction to show that concentration effects a reaction. The time in which the cross took to disappear would be recorded as well as the temperature at the start and end of the reaction, the concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sunlight could affect the speed therefore the experiment will take place in the shade, so that temperature shouldn t change the reaction speed, we will check by using a thermometer. Also the same amount of hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate will be mixed each time so that the concentration changes will affect the same amount of hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate. The concentration of the hydrochloric acid will be changing each time to test if it speeds up a reaction. The speed for the light intensity to drop by 10% will be measured after each attempt so that the affects of concentration changes can be recorded. Each concentration will be tested three times and an average will be worked out, to see if there were any anomalies within the experiment. If one result is out of line with the others then that will be easily identified using graphs and tables. The concentration has been picked so that there is a range from 0.25M to 2M, at intervals of 0.5M, 1M, 1.25M and 1.5M. Prediction: I predict that the higher the concentration the faster the reaction will take place meaning the light intensity will drop by 10%. This is because the more concentrated the hydrochloric acid is the more particles there are to collide, therefore more effective collisions to break old bonds and make new bonds. 0.25M concentration would be the slowest reaction and 2M would be the

This paper serves to compare the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Standards for Secondary Mathematics (NCTM), Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and Virginia s Standards of Learning (VSOL). The comparison will include similarities and differences among the three documents as well as discuss their strengths and weaknesses. Lastly, a combined setof standards will be developed and presented, encompassing the strengths of the various standards. The first similarity between the three documents would be the structure of the standards. Each document varies in the numberof standards, but all are separated through domains of mathematical learning. For example, out of the fourteen NCTM Curriculum Standards for Secondary Mathematics, five standards detail the process of learning mathematics. These standards include Mathematics as Problem Solving, Mathematics as Communication, Mathematics as Reasoning, Mathematical Connections, and Mathematical Structures. Similarly, Common Core State Standards provide the state of Alabama with Mathematical Practice Standards which parallel with similar methods of learning mathematics. Within the Virginia Standards of Learning are embedded similar languages describing mathematical learning. There are several parallel thoughts concerning the mathematical learning process. NCTM Standard 1: Mathematics as Problem Solving outlines the expectations for students to refine their method of problem solving by investigation and integration of

  • 7. The Controversial Queen Mary I Queen Of England Mary I Queen of England was a very controversial queen. She is remembered for the prosecutions she set in place against the people of Protestant faith. When in fact Mary I Queen of England was a good queen that suffered many hardships through her early childhood, her fight for the crown, and even her life during her reign. Mary s early childhood came with a mix of emotions from her father, King Henry VIII. Mary was the first child to King Henry, he was very happy when she was born in 1516 even though she was a girl. To show how much Henry loved Mary he appointed four people from his staff to simple rock her cradle when she was sleeping, along with other extravagant gifts, even though at the time Henry had been hoping for a boy to take over... When the body notices the changes it will interpret it as a real pregnancy and will start to release hormones familiar with pregnancy, making you believe you are pregnant. New research is starting to show that a women with many relationship problems can be at a higher risk to have a phantom pregnancy. This is a good explanation as to why Queen Mary had at least two phantom pregnancies. She had such a complicated relationship with her father, and she was in great need for an heir to the throne, she could have convinced herself she was pregnant. She also had a very complicated relationship with her husband, who only came to England when he had to. He was not in love with Mary like she was in love with him. He was very unpopular in England and he knew no one liked him. The people knew that a relationship with Spain meant war with France, and England did not want that. Mary s emotions controlled her political obligations, knowing she should have chosen another husband to avoid war with France, but her feelings for Philip overtook her control. While she was in the midst of her phantom pregnancies, May was still trying to restore the Catholic faith in England. Mary believed that the way to do this was to charge the Protestant rulers with crimes and burn them at the stake. As a result over 300 people were burned at the stake, she also had to take care of the people who tried to keep her off the throne in the beginning. In January 155 John Hooper, John Rogers and John Cardmaster, were arrested and burned at the stake after refusing to stop their crimes against the crown. She did however find Jane Grey guilty of treason but refused to kill her, instead she was kept in a tower until her death. After she heard that there was an attempt to place her sister Elizabeth on the throne, Mary arrested Elizabeth and placed her at Woodstock. She was in disgrace with the queen until April 1555 when Mary wanted

After her prayer she introduces her husband, who comes out to emphasize the joy of being in Charlotte. Dressed in a blazer, light blue button up shirt and jeans, Dave talks with one hand in his pocket as he addresses the crowd telling us that he believes God has a word for everyone , his voice getting louder on everyone . Meanwhile, ushers move up and down the aisles with offering cards, ensuring that everyone has at least one. Joyce returns and briefly draws attention to Steven Furtick, pastor of Elevation Church, and his wife Holly. When Joyce mentions Elevation the crowd cheers loudly, and the camera shows a shot of Steven and Holly sitting front and center on floor level. Joyce then introduces the opportunity people will have to give, but wants to talk about giving first. She connects the gift of Jesus Christ to our giving gifts; because God gave the best and only, so all of us can help and give our best. Another video plays telling about Project Girl, a charity that helps women facing a variety of global challenges. The worship band returns to the stage as people fill their donation cards, and people stand as they finish giving and join in with the worship. After worship, Joyce returns and turns the focus onto her own ministry and the need for financial support through becoming a partner. She highlights the high cost of being on TV, and knowingly glances at the audience as she reminds them the admission price was free freeing them up to be generous elsewhere. The ushers pass buckets to every row to glean the generosity, and Joyce begins the major teaching portion of the evening. Joyce relied on her own experience and vulnerability, peppering the
  • 9. Deforestation In Latin America Essay Deforestation is defined as: the clearing of virgin forests, or intentional destruction or removal of trees and other vegetation for agricultural, commercial, housing, or firewood use without replanting and without allowing time for the forest to regenerate itself (SCRIBD). Deforestation has been a problem in Latin America since the early 1900s and the severity of the dilemma is increasing rapidly. Deforestation not only has consequences for the environment, but also, the indigenous people and the national economy. The logging industry in Latin America is often exploited by multinational companies that are not properly regulated. The land that has provided a home and cultivated indigenous development for centuries is being dissipated rapidly. Due to an exponentially growing global population, there is an increased demand for low priced goods like timber, crops, and meat. Many Latin American countries value revenue from selling these goods over the health of their local ecosystems. The crisis of deforestation and habitat loss is shifting from a local to global problem. As deforestation continues, global warming escalates worldwide, impacting every country and person. • 10. Similarities Between Civil Rights And Civil Liberties Civil rights and civil liberties are terms that are often used synonymously, but both terms are indeed dissimilar. Civil rights are the basic right to be free from unequal treatment based on race, gender, disability, etc. Moreover, in settings like employment, education, housing, and access to public facilities. A civil rightsviolation occurs when an individual is discriminated against based on a protected characteristic. Most civil rights laws are established by the federal government via federal legislation or case law to protect these rights. (Civil Rights vs. Civil Liberties) Americans are fighting for equality for a long time, and one example is The Civil Rights Movement. The rights of black people in the United States, despite the abolition of slavery, remained severely restricted, though progress inched along over the 100 years following the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1866. However, black Americans still experienced segregation in all areas of their lives, including being downgraded to separate areas in public restrooms, waiting rooms, lunch counters and restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, movie theaters, and public transportation. Additionally, Black children were required to attend separate schools, and black skin colored people could only obtain employment in certain types of jobs. Signs posted in some recreational areas even stated, Negroes and Dogs Not Allowed. (Civil Rights). One court case example of civil right was the case

According to Collier and Hoeffer (2003), there are three major factors that depend on the primary commodity exports such as income per capita, rate of economic growth, and structure of the economy, the higher the rate of primary commodities exports the higher the level of risk of conflict. Developing countries that are dependent on natural resources are more liable to terms of trade shocks, which leads to instability and dissatisfaction within the groups that suffer the shocks. Since natural resources are wealth and unevenly distributed causes the rebel groups ventures in various forms of extortion, exploitation, and trade of primary commodity. Many benefits have come from these law acts that have been set in place. Recovery plans have been put into place to help our animals and plants replenish. While doing this, exemptions can and do occur. If there is a project to be done within a habitat of a listed species, then the ESA must notify the FWS and National Marine Fisheries Service. The different points of view give an understanding of the relationship the protagonists are to their victims. The methods of killing at certain distances can determine whether or not the killer is able to follow through with murder. In The Sniper, the sniper s enemy is on opposite side of the street, fifty years ahead (O Flaherty). He is armed with rifle and a gun and is his main weaponry in killing. However, Just Lather, That s All takes place in a barber shop where the barber is close enough Captain Torres to slit his throat while shaving him (TГ©llez). His only means of killing Captain Torres is to cut him with his razor and let him die of exsanguination. About 32 million tons of it end up in landfills, at a cost of about $1.5 billion a year to local government this economic crisis is worldwide! My research estimates that a third of all the food produced in the world is never consumed, and the total cost of that food waste could be as high as $400 billion a year. The food discarded by retailers and consumers in the most developed countries would be more than enough to feed all of the world s hungry people, but it is not just those countries that have problems with food waste, it is also an issue in African countries like South Africa. The problem is expected to grow worse as the world s population increases, unless actions are taken to reduce the waste. Food waste is not only a social cost, but it contributes to growing environmental problems like global warming, experts say, with the production of food consuming vast quantities of water, fertilizer and land. The fuel that is burned to process, refrigerate and transport it also adds to the environmental cost. Most food waste is thrown away in landfills, where it decomposes and emits methane, a potent

IASB Conceptual Framework To, Hans Hoogervorst IASB Chairman London, UK Date: Nov 11, 2017 Dear Sir, I am writing this report in order to outline one change that I believe needs to be made to the Conceptual Framework. I have attached the report that details the change and the rationale for the change for your kind consideration. Thanking You, Sincerely, Your Name, Student, Name of University Course Name Introduction The IASB conceptual framework is a framework of theories prepared by a standard setting body aimed t dealing with practical problems faced by users of financial statements; the characteristics of accounting information; the elements of financial statements and concepts for measuring and reporting the elements such as assets and liabilities (Financial Times 2017). The benefit is that uniform accounting standards can be applied to deal with common accounting problems; have fewer standards to reduce the volume of standards; help accountants and auditors to resolve accounting issues. However one of the issues is the going concern assumption, which does not appear to take into account more serious risks that an enterprise may be associated with such as sustainability risks. The problem/Change One of the problems with the conceptual framework is that it does not address the principle of sustainability within its going concern assumption even in the recent Summary of Tentative Decisions related to the framework (IFRS 2017). Therefore it is proposed that the conceptual framework

This ensures that the substance being condensed is fully separated from the mixture (Holmquist, 2007). Methods Of The Collection Of Aerosols Methods of the collection of aerosols for analysis Analysis of the composition of aerosols is very important for the development of many different industries and areas of study; however this analysis is challenging because aerosol particles can be difficult to collect.1 Aerosol particles can be collected onto a substrate and then analysed. The collection surface can be a porous medium such as a filter operating at a low flow rate whereby some or all of the particles suspended in the aerosol flow are retained. In many applications particles from the gas flow are extracted by an externally applied force e.g. in a centrifuge or electrostatic precipitator. The collection process should result in the sample taken being representative of the aerosol in its original state therefore it should not be chemically changed in the process. Characteristics such as mass, number concentration and size distribution of particles should remain unchanged however it is difficult to prevent these changes.2 Aerosols consist of solid or liquid particles in a gaseous medium; therefore the particles must be filtered and/or extracted into solution to prepare for chemical analysis. However carboxylic acid and carbonyl containing compounds present in aerosols react with commonly used organic solvents such as methanol over a timeframe of minutes to hours. Although an extraction solvent can be selected so that it does not react with the aerosol particles, the solvent used will be dependent on the

They are Japanese woodblock prints that flourished during the Edo Period (1603 1867) and depicted subjects associated with impermanence and detachment from ordinary life. Among these subjects were the popular geisha, sumo, and kabuki actors set in this after hours world. Later, painted scenes from nature became a subject matter for artists. The themes in ukiyo e focused on fleeting beauty and evanescent worlds; it was an escape from the boring and mundane world of responsibilities in everyday life. Each image was created through a collaboration of four skilled individuals: the artist who designed the works and drew them in ink, the carver who carved the designs into a woodblock, the printer who applied pigments to the woodblock and printed each color on handmade paper, and the publisher who coordinated the efforts of the artists and marketed the artworks. In spite of this collaborative effort, only the artist and publisher were almost always accredited. They quickly came to realize that the grass was not always greener on the other side. They settled in different areas along the east coast, such as New England, which included New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Ecological differences forced different economical strategies for the two groups of settlers to pursue. However, the differences in them opened up a way of trade. Both New England and Virginia benefited from trade by getting things they desired that were difficult for them to obtain on their

In the book, Billy Bud Sailor, the seemingly lovable Billy Bud, experienced exactly this. Immediately after coming aboard the Bellipotent, a war ship, the young handsome soldier hit it off with all his crew members. That is, all except one. Claggart, the master at arms, held a higher rank than Billy on the ship, however, for some unknown reason he hated Billy, and constantly sought out ways to make his life harder. One day, a wise old man came to the naГЇve Billy, telling him of Claggart s hatred towards him, and warning him to act cautiously around the master at arms. Claggart s disdain towards him, confuses Billy a great deal, as he refused to accept it for a significant matter of time. Everyone who reads this story wants Billy and Claggart to resolve their differences and get along. However, some believe the Billy confronted Claggart about the problem seemed the right approach, while others think he most definitely should not confront him. Billy should have confronted Claggart about his hatred. Claggart caused trouble for Billy, peace stood crucial for the ship, and the Bible showed support for this decision. Clearly Billy needed to confront Claggart about their issues. For starters, Claggart caused trouble for Billy. At the start of his hatred, Claggart acted friendly towards Billy, causing him not to suspect anything. This alone put Billy in danger, because he lived unaware of the malice

In the article it was mentioned that sensations are due to the brain s attempt to reorganize sensory information following the amputation. The brain must essentially rewire itself to adjust to the changes in the body (Scheinberg, 2015). The article points out that the adult are more likely to suffer from phantom limb syndrome than children. The article also mentioned that there are various risk factors which increase the risk of developing the phantom limb syndrome can be the pre amputation pain, infection, damage on the spinal cord or nerves that supplied to the affected limb, blood clot on the amputated limb, etc. The first article named Phantom Limb Syndrome goes more into details describing some symptoms that may occur on the amputees. Have you ever asked yourself serious questions about the significance, implications, and roles of numbers? For example, Why does the number ten denote a change to double digits? Indeed, the Utility Based Approach proposes that three, being the smallest possible number that denotes a group, is a useful entity when recalling a tale whose audience is assumed to either (1) desire mental relaxation, or (2) lack advanced/complex mental capabilities. Background/Historical Context Three has a logical reason for its important role throughout history. It is not merely the number that happens to fall between two and four. Three is the union of oneness and duality. It is the first number that is a combination of various previous numbers (assuming, as most societies have done, that zero is not a number). One and two are special as they are representations of oneness and otherness , but three starts the procession of all other numbers to follow (the set of numbers, 3 infinity, that can be the sum of a variety of previous numbers) (Symbolism). Whether this is realized consciously or subconsciously, it is an undeniable truth that seems hard to avoid. Indeed, this idea could be what gave rise to the spiritual significance of three. Three has always played an important part in the Judeo/Christian beliefs, as Ken Bassett outlines in his Pastor Note No. 138. First, and probably most

This theory was disputed by one the most influential psychologists of the 19th century, William James proposed that the common sense theory is incorrect the individual in fact the emotions are a consequence of the bodily change. If one perceives a dangerous situation there will be an immediate impact on the bodily function e.g. increase heart rate this will then cause the individual to encounter an emotional state. William James s theory was claimed to be too simple to account for and there was scope for further investigation to be carried out. Cannon bard had proposed a theory that focused on cognitive mechanisms in emotion. They argued that emotions start before any bodily changes, the recognition of danger for example will simultaneously cause a change in bodily function and experience of an emotion. Another drawback to James theory has been the notion of perception, Arnold challenges that the individual has to

Through these philosophers, various ideologies on happiness gets to be distinctly conceivable for one to distinguish and recognize the difference between what people think or feel happiness is and what the true state of happiness is. In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle said happiness is the value and reason for every good thing, so happiness is deserving of respect. For Aristotle, happiness involves flourishing or prospering by striving for a purposeful life of excellence. Happiness depends not on a feeling, rather the whole about your moral character, and the ability to exercise proper temperance and suitable ethics over a period by virtue. In Politics, Aristotle explained that humanity does not gain virtue by possession of meaningless material substance, happiness is found with the people who are most refined in their thinking and character. According to Aristotle, bravery, unselfishness, intelligence, love, friendship, lawfulness, family relationships, political participation and citizenship are indispensable character traits for one to prosper and experience happiness. Epicurus believed the point of life is to accomplish happiness by pursuit of pleasure and evasion of pain and fear. Perhaps an inclusive view of nature is difficult and non trivial, but it still might be construed as an idle fancy. How can we say that it is important? Why is the expansion of our world view to a nature inclusive view a matter of importance. Answering this challenge, I can only say that nature is our home place. Thus, life as our culture is trying to live it, within its human centered self satisfied world is life dragged out into an alien environment. Humans are natural creatures and they can be correctly observed and understood only within the natural world. They need the whole context! In this sense, we go, like Thoreau, to observe nature in order to observe ourselves in the truest sense. This is not only non trivial; it is also indispensible. Humans must learn to see themselves truthfully. It is too easy for us to say, Oh, I see nature in that way, all the time. After all, many of us watch nature programs on The Learning Channel. That is why nature writing is such an important criterion. It is learning to use language in the description and the celebration of nature that completes our world journey. Language, as Jim Cheney has written, is performative. When I name a bird that I
  • 47. Erik Eriskson s Eight Stages of Personality Development Erik Erikson was a psychoanalyst and based his work off of Sigmund Freud s ideas about the structure and topography of personality. Unlike Freud s idea that personality is shaped by the age of five, Erikson believed that personality continues to change over the life span. With this theory in mind, Erikson came up with a stage theory of personality development. Stage theories assume that (1) individuals must progress through specified stages in a particular order, because each stage builds on the previous stage, (2) progress through these stages is strongly related to age, and (3) development is marked by a major discontinuities that usher in dramatic transitions in behavior (Weiten, 2008). Erikson s stage theory was broken down into eight stages that progressed through life. Each stage encountered a crisis that needed to be resolved before the person could move onto the next stage. Each stage builds upon what has gone before and carries elements of itself into future stages (Hopkins, 1995). The eight stages Erikson purposed were trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. confusion, intimacy vs. isolation, generativity vs. self absorption, and integrity vs. despair (Guinee, 1998). Stage one, trust vs. mistrust, children would ask the question whether their caregivers met their needs or not. This stage happened between birth and one year of age (Dunkel Sefcek, 2009). Quantum mechanics deals with the behavior of matter and light on the atomic subatomic scale. These particles are known to interact with each other with electromagnetic radiation. I have, since I discovered it in middle school I believe, always respected the idea of Honor. It means a lot to me. Its ideal a person can build and guide their beliefs on as well as their standards. Honor Goes hand and hand with Loyatly. To be loyal to a cause greater then my own is one reason that drove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Honor Embodies a lot to me. The Marines offer me this. The other forces scoff at such an idea. I want to be a part of something that respects and admires such traits as I have and believe in. Again the Marines offer me this. I know not all Marine respect my ideas, but at least I ll look forward to meeting and becoming a part of a group, however small or big, that has the same beliefs and ideals. Im tired of being around people that scoff and laugh at such things. I have met very people that respect the idea of Honor. The Honor that I think and believe in, has given me a strong sense of Morals and Ethics. Those that know me well will see this. Over the years it has deteriorated a bit. Going into something that respects and teaches this will help me build up to...and past the standard I have set for and used to have for myself. The Marines are a Brotherhood. Modern day Knights, I know not all are. Infact most probably arent. All the branches are infested with sex crazed drunkards, the Marines especially. Not all are like that, and I look forward to finding the select few that are not, but share my same ideals and thoughts. I plan on joining and setting a new standard. Pride, I want to be a part of something that has an immense amount pride. That practically drips with it. But not just any kind of pride. But a type of Pride that
  • 52. Literature Review On Dehumidifiers LITERATURE REVIEW 3.1 Literature Review The experimental analysis of a hybrid liquid desiccant dehumidifier system by Nanda Kishore. The desiccant chosen for the analysis is aqueous solution of calcium chloride. The effect of different operating variables on performance of both dehumidifier and regenerator are studied. The parameters studied are the effect of mass air flow rate, air inlet temperature, and desiccant inlet temperature. The practicability of dehumidification of supply air by the desiccant loop of the hybrid system is demonstrated. A S Alosaimy is experimented to Concentration of desiccant solution regenerated by solar energy. Experimental results show that solution with 30% concentration can be regenerated up to 50% using solar energy. It was found that as the regeneration temperature was increased, moisture absorbing capacity of air was increased. As the regeneration temperature was increased, the dehumidification rate in the absorber was increased. The moisture removal rate was increased with the increasing in regeneration. As the inlet temperature of desiccant was increased, the dehumidification was reduced in the absorber, indicated the reduction in moisture removal capacity.... This paper is an experimental study on a structured packed tower of liquid lithium chloride dehumidifier system with different air velocity and flow rate of liquid desiccant. Desiccant temperature set into 100C and desiccant concentration is 0.4. The result of this study shows that averagely the moisture removal rate and the heat transfer rate are influenced both by the air velocity and desiccant flow rate. The result shows that high air velocity will obtain the fast air dehumidification but has low effectiveness and high liquid desiccant will obtain
  • 53. 5 Maps And Charts That Will Surprise You Analysis The article titled, 5 Maps and Charts That Will Surprise You by Ezra Klein asks, Which chart did you find the most surprising? The chart I found the most surprising was the chart that was titled, Switzerland is the best place to be born because I thought that the U.S. would be a better place to be born. Also, I didn t know that the geography of a place needs to be counted to determine if children have the best chance of a happy, safe and prosperous life. I also didn t think that trust in public institutions and the health of family life counted in children having the best chance for a happy, safe and prosperous life. I didn t think these would be needed because these don t seem that important to live a happy, safe, and prosperous life.
