Power Generation From The Alternative Sources Of Energy Essay
1. INTRODUCTION As a result of rapid industrialization and urbanization, there has been substantial
increase in energy demand. The fossil fuel consumption has also been increased to great extent. But it
s over consumption is leading to various environmental issues like increased level of Carbon dioxide
and various harmful gases in the environment and rise of Global Warming. So various approaches are
being made to meet the world s increasing demand of energy.in the recent years, there has been great
development in the field of power generation from the alternative sources of energy. Renewable
energy projects are becoming more popular. There are many renewable sources available for
generating energy for instance: Solar Energy, Wind Energy, Hydro Power, Marine/Ocean Energy,
Geothermal Energy, Nuclear Energy, Bio Fuel, and Tidal Power. But power generation using solar
energy is gaining more importance as it is ecofriendly, needs low maintenance and has negligible
noise and wear due to absence of mechanical parts. So photovoltaic systems are such project which
converts the sun s radiation into usable electricity and this report emphasizes on power can be
transmitted from solar source to the required load by means of a DC AC Converter and various
operating principles of the converter used for photovoltaic systems are also discussed. 2. NEED FOR
DC AC CONVERTER It is basically a two stage topology which acts as an interface between the
photovoltaic system and the power supply

Policy Changes are Needed in Our Education System
Our society has become punitive when dealing with children, so much so that we are deemed, by other
nations, the harshest western nation when it comes to juvenile policy and punishment. Unfortunately,
this is a true statement when we look at our incarceration rates. Our states and federal prison, local
jails, and juvenile detention center are overcrowded, with beds being filled the same day they are
vacated. Specifically, our juvenile detention system is serving an alarming amount of children. In fact,
it is estimated that 500,000 children enter juvenile detentions center every year, leading to the
detention of more than 26,000 juveniles every day (Holman and Ziedenberg, 2006). Unfortunately,
studies have found that disability rates among juveniles in detention average around 30% to 50%
(Gemeignani, 1994). While some studies indicate the rate of disability is as high as 76% (Quinn et al.,
2005). In contrast, the national average of disabilities is estimated at 10% (Butterworth Kovas, 2013).
These factors have significant consequences on our society in general. Particularly on our
incarceration rates of both juvenile and adults, the enormous cost of incarcerating individuals, the loss
of taxpayers and family members, and the overtaxing of a system that cannot treat the large amount of
children. The juvenile system differs from the adult system; they focus on the treatment of the child in
hopes to repair the issues that have caused the delinquency. As we have seen in other

Theodore Roosevelt s Influence On Government
Theodore Roosevelt once stated Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the
natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your
children s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches
or its romance. Theodore Roosevelt, the twenty sixth President of the United States was one of the
greats. Theodore Roosevelt was considered one of the first of the Presidents to push conservation and
preservation of the United States and its natural beauty. Theodore Roosevelt created many laws and

In government many political leaders love to get peoples votes because the more votes they get the
better chance of winning the election they have. So many political leaders sway towards what they
believe the people feel they need and want their government to do about certain problems. This then
makes for political leaders seem to know what they can do to help the people and get a benefit out of
not only being elected but being able to save the environment. Due to this fact political leaders realize
that people are all for conservation because they want to save the Earth so they will be able to keep
living on this planet. This is why many political leaders have at least one or more conservational
benefit that they want to proceed with if they get elected into government. This sometimes doesn t
happen in government though because they may get elected then a big event happens and they have to
worry more about the major event then there ideas on how to save the environment. This can be seen
by one of the biggest influences in government our current President Barack Obama. In Barack
Obama s first term he placed a law into place that in turn ended up being one of the most significant
conservation milestones in a decade. Chock full of new protections for pristine and historic places, the
measure sets the gold standard for land preservation by designating more than 2 million acres in nine
states as wilderness. (Danowitz 1). Due to this Obama became very popular with all the
conservationist organizations and it also boosted his appeal to the people to see that he was

Multiple Ideas In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
While writing The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald had many inspirations that helped him form what
is considered the great American novel. Fitzgerald portrays multiple ideas throughout the story that
closely relate to events in his own life in the early 1900s. He wanted his book to be different. He
wanted to create something greater, with this work. The book is considered to be written closely to his
own experiences, and could have been Nick Carraway or Jay Gatsby himself. When Fitzgerald first
wrote Gatsby in the 1920s, it was not an instant sensation. Although all the copies from the first run of
20,870 sold, many copies from the second run languished in a warehouse until Fitzgerald s death in
1940 at the age of 44 (Lombardi). His books became a huge hit when they were sent over to ... Show

However, his readers may not know where he got the inspiration to write his book or where some of
his profound ideas came from. Ironically Fitzgerald based many different ideas in his novel, to events
that were happening in his own life. Some articles suggest that Fitzgerald based the plot of Gatsby
from two real life murders that he was influenced by. 1922 was also the year of the Hall Mills
murders, a horrific double homicide full of the sort of salacious detail that turns a tragedy into tabloid
fodder (Churchwood). The book Careless People expresses facts of the Hall Mills murders, and how
closely related it was to the secret love between Daisy and Gatsby, and Tom and Myrtle Wilson. It is
described that an adulterous couple, Edward Hall and Eleanor Mills, who were both married to other
people, were found dead side by side on rural property; a popular spot for couples. It was said Mills
was sadistically mutilated (Churchwood). It was also said that Halls spouse was rather wealthy and
used her money to eliminate the case. After all, she and her brothers were prime

Slavoj Zizek Essay
In The Pervert s Guide to Ideology, Slavoj Zizek explains his analytical theories about the ideology
behind multiple films. His most radical ideological explanation seems to be the one regarding
Scorsese s The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ. When Zizek embarks on the mission to explain to the
viewer what the theories behind the film are, he shows some of the most gruesome and emotional
scenes of the film. However, although his theories seem almost too complex to understand, they play a
role in exploring the fine line between Christianity and Atheism. Now, one might be questioning if the
line between these two counterparts is even fine, but Zizek clearly draws for the viewer the thinnest
line possible as they try to follow the complex path of his argument of what the film truly ... Show

Yet, despite his explanations, Zizek enters into a paradoxical realm of religious beliefs that becomes
more confusing as the film progresses. What does Zizek mean when he claims that Christianity is
more atheist than Atheism? Can something be more related to its counterpart than the counterpart
itself? Such a question can only be explored by examining the progression of Zizek s argument. For
Zizek, such a question is true when applied to the Christianity displayed in the film. If Atheism is the
disbelief in God, then the Christianity in the film is inherently more Atheist because it completely
disintegrates God, the Big Other.
The film begins the process of revealing Christianity s Atheist characteristics with the idea of hysteria.
Slavoj Zizek proposes the idea of hysteria playing a role in the life of Jesus Christ. He defines hysteria
as the way we question our social, symbolic identity. He begins analyzing his own definition by
explaining how it plays a role in the character of Jesus Christ in the film The Last Temptation of
Christ. Zizek also explores different dimensions of the word as he attaches it to

Mars? Well after Earth was formed, Mars was the planet containing a higher percentage that is with a
hostable climate than any other planet is the solar system. Outflow channels and other geologic
features provide ample evidence that billions of years ago liquid water flowed on the surface of Mars.

Cultural Anthropology The nature of the culture: farming, hunting, gathering, fishing, cattle raising,
industrialization etc. The uses and measures of wealth. Jamaica has a history of farming, hunting,
gathering and fishing going back to colonial days. This is when the British colonized the country in
order to provide them with a number of agricultural products they could sell on the world markets.
The most notable include: sugar cane, coffee, bananas, yams, citrus fruits, vegetables and fish. As the
country developed, is when industrialization began to occur. This took place with tourism becoming
the most dominant industry. At the same time, there was a focus on bauxite, chemicals, paper, cement
and textile production. These different areas are used to account for the majority of it exports. This is

Secondary Data Analysis Paper
Data
For the general method of my data, I will be performing secondary data, using longitudinal design and
quantitative data. For the secondary data analysis, I will be using the National Longitudinal Survey of
Youth 1979. They have collected data from families who have children between 1980 s until 2012.
The assessment of the Survey is called HOME (Home Observation Measurement of the Environment)
which is the primary measure of the quality of a child s home environment that is included in the
NLSY79 child survey ( The HOME ). It has been used as an input to help explain other child
characteristics or behaviors as an outcome in its own right for researchers whose objective is to

The variables that I found in the HOME codebook are: ID Code of the child, ID Code of mother of
child, race of child (including mother s racial/ethnic background), sex of child, date of birth of the
child (year), and spanking (Mother hitting her child as a form of discipline). The other variables that
were added to the education section are schooling enrollment status in cooperative education, the
principal grading policy on student effort, class participation, and class attendance. So far I have
included eleven variables as part of my measures and these are the main variables that are included in
the codebook to determine the child s family background, how often was the child being spanked and
the child s education records. According to the data, by reviewing the variable of spanking, it gave out
statistics and graphs on spanking in children in 1994. The codebook on spanking gave a questionnaire

there was a question to parents especially to mothers that said Sometimes kids mind pretty well and
sometimes they don t. About how many times, if any, have you had to spank your child in the past

Differences Of Abrahamic Religions
Throughout the duration of human history, one question has been omnipresent in the minds of
philosophers and common folk alike: Does god exist? While dozens of religions have been established
with unique and varying elaborations on this question, the three principal Abrahamic religions stand
out for their massive accumulations of devoted followers. And though the fundamentals of the
Abrahamic religions are inherently different, they all share similar ideology on the afterlife.
Furthermore, these three religions homogeneously stress the importance of prayer as a means to
achieve fulfillment. And although there are many parallel ideas and practices, these religions also host
an abundance of differences. Namely, the difference in the interpretation of the Old and New
Testaments. Moreover, Abrahamic religions even draw differences in their dietary restrictions. One of
the more interesting points of concurrence in the three major Abrahamic religions is the belief in an
afterlife. Though conditions of the afterlife in Abrahamic religions vary, Islam, Christianity, and
Judaism all emphasize the importance of staying in god s grace in order to ascend to a variation of
heaven after the physical body dies here on Earth. In these regions worshippers are promised post
mortal nirvana after death in exchange for their servitude in life. Conversely, in Christianity and Islam,
if a follower veers from the righteous path they are likely to wind up in hell. Hell being of course, the

The Oldowan And The Acheulean
There are manifold stone tool industries, however there are two especially prevalent technocomplexes;
the Oldowan and the Acheulean. Although perhaps not the most intricate instances of implement
development, they are the oldest and describe their creators lifestyles; information that would
otherwise be all but lost. The gradual evolution of these tools over millions of years portray a clear
change in the users acclimatisation to new and varied environments, as well as their cultural
adaptations. This essay will aim to analyse, through comparison, the varying behavioural adaptations
of early Homonins, taking into account the factors of diet, ranging patterns, and the development of
social behaviour.
Oldowan technology was first discovered at the Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania, site in the 1930s by Lewis
and Mary Leakey. It has been dated to approximately 2.5 to 1.5 million years ago during the late
Pliocene and early Pleistocene (Potts 1981:153), predating any other form of currently known lithic
industries. Acheulean technology is more recent, dated to between 1.7 to 1.5 million years ago using
radiometric dating from volcanic ash (White 1998:15). It was named after Saint Acheule, Somme,
France, where Jacques Boucher de Crèvecœur de Perthes discovered the site in 1859, although John
Frere has been credited to its 1797 discovery. In terms of appearance, Oldowan tools can essentially
be seen as pebbles altered to become sharp through the procedure of relatively simple

Accounting Practice Contributes to a Just Distribution of...
Mostly every economic system around the world has laws and regulations, which can result in unequal
treatment or unequal distribution of goods and services among different people. Some laws favor
certain members within a community while putting a burden on other members. An economic system
is, for the most part, a result of political processes developed by humans and the processes are ever
evolving within societies. The legal structure of an economic and political system are important
because certain resource distributions are a result created from the system employed by the
community. Laws and the political system within a community can fundamentally affect the lives

The second concept is based on liberty or the freedom of contract. Individuals should be free to
choose how many hours she chooses to work. Additionally, an employee should be free to decide
where she wants to work. Based on this theory it is the free choice of an individual to receive unequal
benefits. The third concept is entitlement, which is different from the merit based concepts discussed
above. The share of wealth an individual deserves is based on how the wealth was accumulated.
Inequality is justified only when it arises without the infringement of somebody s rights. The fourth
concept is the concept of utilitarianism, which is the most well known concept. From a utilitarian
perspective, actions can only be ethically good if the actions are useful or have some utility. The
argument concludes that goods and services are valuable only when it increases welfare within the
society or community.
In the United States, the majority of business entities are privately owned rather than government
owned. Private ownership is important in a free market society that scarce resources are allocated
accordingly within a society efficiently. Many people have a different perspective regarding the
allocation of resources similar to the theories discussed above. Accounting helps society allocate
resources to individuals or enterprises that will use those resources in the most efficient and effective
way. Accountants assist

How Music Affects Child Development
The area of interest for my research this semester revolves around music and children. My three
research questions are 1. How does music affect behavior? 2. How do different types of music affect
development in children? 3. Does music have a substantial role in child development? I chose this as
my area of interest because I have always been passionate about both music and children. I grew up
listening to a wide variety of music. Hip hop, Country, R B, Opera, Jazz, Rap, Pop, etc. I was also
involved in many choirs, and even got the chance to participate in a couple musicals. My appreciation
for music has grown substantially over the years, as well as my interest in its effects. Children are
another major part of my life as I have always been intrigued by them. It is amazing to see a child
grow and develop. Seeing from when they are first born, to watch them slowly reach milestones and
develop their minds, and just their outlook on life is very fascinating. ... Show more content on

If something as common as music has a significant effect on development, research can be extremely
important for people trying to make informed decisions for their children. Referencing the title, I
know The Incredibles made a remark insinuating that playing Mozart for a baby can make them
smarter. Though the research on the Mozart Effect and IQ has shown no significant discovery, the
inspiration behind this is brilliant. Music has to have some sort of effect on the brain, further than
slight stimulation. There must be a reason that many kids toys, tv shows, books etc. use a lot of music;
especially educational media. I know it can be very influential, but the effect it has on a child mentally
and developmentally I feel can be further

my main points: DC has better characters, DC is more serious than Marvel is at fighting, DC is darker
than Marvel. I will compare each Universe to each other and see why DC is better than Marvel. As I
compare look carefully at the facts and carefully notice that DC is better than Marvel. The first
character I am going to talk about is Superman. Superman is the most powerful alien out there in the
DC world. Superman has the coolest powers on earth. Superman has a lot of powers such as lasers, x
ray vision, flight abilities, super speed, super breath, freeze breath and he is invincible. Other heros
don t really have that many powers like Superman does. Marvel s Iron Man has a cool suit and the
cool powers from the suit but Superman s powers are real and he was born with his. Iron Man aka

Similarities And Differences Between Telecommuting And...
Telecommuting, remote work,[1] or telework is a work arrangement in which employees do not
commute to a central place of work. A person who telecommutes is known as a telecommuter ,
teleworker , and sometimes as a home sourced, or work at home employee. Many telecommuters work
from home, while others, sometimes called nomad workers , use mobile telecommunications
technology to work from coffee shops or other locations. According to a Reuters poll, approximately
one in five workers around the globe, particularly employees in the Middle East, Latin America and
Asia, telecommute frequently and nearly 10 percent work from home every day .[2] Today, as annual
leave or vacation is today seen as absence from the workplace rather than ceasing work,
telecommuting is used by office employees to work while on vacation.
The terms telecommuting and telework were coined by Jack Nilles in 1973.[3] ... Show more content

A Political Activists And Author Ralph Nader
A political activists and author, Ralph Nader, wrote the book Unstoppable to give a detailed
explanation of the emerging Left Right alliance that dismantles the corporate state. Nader covers many
of the important issues that are occurring currently, and most importantly, he has explained past
occurrences that many people have looked passed. As a student, I feel as though it is important that he
explains many political things in ways where we can understand what is truly happening in the
political world. Nader explains thoroughly the potential for an enduring Left Right alliance and the
obstacles it is going to take to over come them. In chapter 4, Nader begins listing the twenty five
proposed redirections and reforms through convergent actions. I most certainly agree with Nader that
a Left Right convergence is an effective way to bring policy solutions to the list because this way
people will begin to pay attention to the listed topics. For example, Expand contributions to charity,
using them to increase jobs and drawing on available dead money (Nader page 65). There are so many
people who do not have any income coming in their family, and so it would be more than appropriate
for people to have a job and help those in need. The government has so much money that they like to

The Effects Of Hormones On The Body s Central Glucocorticoid
Upon activation by an emotional or physical stressor, corticotropic releasing hormone (CRH) is
released from the paraventricular cells of the hypothalamus and exerts its effect on the anterior
pituitary gland Here, CRH stimulates the synthesis of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and its
release into the bloodstream [19,20]. In turn, ACTH acts on receptors of the adrenal cortex to
stimulate the synthesis and release of cortisol [19,20]. Also known as the body s stress hormone ,
cortisol travels through the blood in both protein bound (inactive) and free (active) forms. Cortisol can
act to limit its own synthesis via a negative feedback mechanism to the hypothalamus and pituitary
gland [19,20]. Upon reaching a target cell, free cortisol diffuses through the cell membrane to bind to
the cytoplasmic glucocorti coid receptor [19,20]. This ligand receptor complex translocates to the
nucleus where it binds glucocorticoid response elements to affect transcription of target genes [19,20].
As our body s central glucocorticoid, cortisol has many actions. These include gluconeogenesis,
lipolysis, modulating the immune system, increase of blood pressure and insulin resistance [19,20].
Cortisol is metabolized by 11 beta hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 to its inactive form, cortisone
[19,20 GOW
Stress can be broadly defined as any stimulus that disrupts homeostasis, with the stress response
referring to physiological and behavioral reactions to such a stimulus (Selye, 1950). It

There is one friend in the life of each of us who seems not a separate person, however dear and

by Edith Wharton, explaining the importance of friendship and the importance of having friends in

The New President Faces Challenges At The Department Of...
The Life of an Executive Order
The new president faces significant challenges at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Rectifying these short comings is important if the U.S. is to remain secure and prosperous.
On January 27th, 2017, president Trump signed an executive order dealing with immigration. The
order took effect immediately and sparked anger and confusion across the nation. Dozens of
international travelers were detained at airports across the country. Most of those detained were simply
caught up in a government communication limbo. The order placed a temporary moratorium on
immigration from seven countries Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

The order had been reviewed by the Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) before it was
issued. The OLC, whose authority addresses the form and whether the order is properly drafted,
approved the order. Yates objected to the president s executive order. Yates declared that as long as she
was acting attorney general, the Department of Justice would not present arguments in defense of the
executive order until she became convinced that it was appropriate to do so. Clearly, since Yates did
not issue this statement on the grounds that the order was illegal, she based her decision on her
disagreement with the justice of the order.
Consequently, Yates was fired. This action fortified the legal battle we are debating today. Timeline of

Enlightenment Philosophers Dbq Essay
The Enlightenment Philosophers: What Was Their Main Ideas? Big ideas are the start of big changes.
In the 17th and the 18th century in Western Europe, well educated philosophers or philisophes came
up with ideas to change society and base things off of individual freedom and individual decisions.
Philosophers used natural laws and observation to form their ideas and to change society. The
philosophers believed that great individual freedom would improve society. This was true in the
aspects of political, economic, and gender equality freedom.
John Locke argued that people should have the right as an individual to create a good government.

men come home and talk about their day, the women can not have a conversation because they are not

Robert Agnew s General Strain Theory
Prison gangs, not much unlike street gangs; a social entity devised to bring a sense of belonging, a
sense of brotherhood. Prison gangs are found all over the world, consisting mostly of males with the
majority of prison gangs made up of Caucasians. Although, the Latino gang population is steadily
increasing. To help us understand prison gangs, we take a look at Robert Agnew s theory called
General Strain theory, in which an individual commits a crime or violence based off of 3 main
sources: 1), an individual is stopped from reaching a goal, 2), something an individual possesses or
valued is removed or threatened, 3), or something negative or unwanted is imposed on an individual
(Alvarez Bachman, 2017). Using this theory, we will dive in to understanding what has helped the

By Jesse Debenport, Jesse states with strong desire, I ll try and set aside at least one day a week... So
we can hop in the truck and go four wheeling. This shows me that Jesse s father is still alive because a

Ancient Civilization And Modern Day Iraq And Kuwait Essay
Ancient Sumerian Civilization The ancient civilization of Sumer was located in modern day Iraq and
Kuwait, and is believed to have begun around 6000 B.C. It is considered The cradle of civilization by
most historians, because it s where the first elaborate urban societies appeared. Sumerians were
polytheistic, and had a pantheon consisting of many gods and goddesses, who were anthropomorphic
superhumans. The Sumerians held a unique view of creation, the afterlife, and worship. They
contributed one of the most well known literary works The Epic of Gilgamesh , which tells of a hero s
quest to attain immortality. Within the Sumerian pantheon there were hundreds of gods, but four were
deemed the most important. This included An, god of the heavens, Enlil, the air god, Enki, the water
god, and Ninhursag, the mother goddess. It seems at one time An was seen as the greatest of all the
other gods, but later on Enlil took his place as the supreme deity. Enlil was seen as the father of the
gods, who brought good weather and abundant crops (Kramer,1963). Enki was credited for creating
the earth, and also saves man during the great flood by telling him to build an ark just like the biblical
flood account. Enki was also known for bringing wisdom and craftsmanship. Ninhursag was a fertility
goddess who brought nature and life to earth (Mark, 2011). The Enuma Elish, tells the story of

Coal is found in deeper layers of earth. To retrieve coal from those layers, underground tunnels need to
build. These underground tunnels tend to fill with ground water. To prevent this, steam pumps were
installed to keep the tunnels dry. The groundwater pumped out of the mines is comparatively clean
(Wilkinson 2011, 3).
Once the steam pump is shut off, the underground water is able to fill up the abandoned mine over
years. After all tunnels are filled up, the water finds a way to release itself. This is called natural

7.4 Rocky shore
These shores were shaped by different natural forces. Those forces include the rise and fall of tides,
wind, intensity of waves and variation in temperature. They consist of rocky ledges, boulders and
pebbles. Furthermore, pools with seawater can be found.
Rocky shores can be divided into different zones, according to vertical height. The zones vary in
diversity (see Fig. 6) and most species are adapted to a specific zone (Little 2009, 17).
The top of the shore is bare rock and living organisms such as littorinid snails or lichens can be found
there. This zone is called splash zone as it above high tide mark and therefore perpetually out of water
(Little 2009, 18).
The second zone is called littoral zone (or intertidal) and has its boundaries defined as distance
between very highest and very lowest spring tide. The lower, middle and upper shore are included into
this zone and there is a varying degree of exposure to seawater, depending on the tide. Organisms
living there must be able to cope with fluctuating air and breaking waves. Rock pools and Fucus
spiralis are found in this part of the rocky shore (Little 2009, 18).

Male Dominance in a Midsummer s Night Dream

Women in this play see themselves as weak once they are married or once they have sworn their love
to a man. Hippolyta, the warrior Queen, seems deflated with the fact that Theseus has captured her and
wants to marry her. When Theseus proudly talks about how he had taken her by war, and how he

Gene Technology Is The Basic Physical And Functional Unit...
Introduction: A gene is the basic physical and functional unit of heredity and can be used in gene
technology processes. Gene technology refers the range of activities concerned with understanding
gene expression, taking advantage of natural genetic variation, modifying genes and transferring genes
to new hosts. A specific example of gene technology is Gene Therapy. This term refers to the process
of introducing DNA into a patient to treat a genetic disease. The new DNA contains a functioning
gene to correct the effects of a disease causing mutation (YG, 2016). There are several techniques for
carrying out gene therapy, these include, gene augmentation, gene inhibition and the killing off of
specific cells.
Augmentation: Gene augmentation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process aims to introduce a gene whose product either inhibits or interferes with the expression of
another gene. This therapy facilitates the elimination of the growth of disease related cells (YG, 2016).
Killing of specific cells suicide : This process is suitable for diseases which can be treated by
destroying certain groups of cells. The aim is to insert DNA into a diseased cell which causes the cell
to die. This can be achieved by inserting DNA containing a suicide gene that produces a highly toxic
product to kill the diseased cell or by inserting DNA which causes the expression of a protein which
marks the cells so that the diseased cells are attacked by the body s immune system. This method must
be targeted appropriately to avoid the death of normal functioning cells and would be appropriate to
use on a disease such as cancer (YG, 2016).
Currently, possible candidates for gene therapy include cancer, AIDS, cystic fibrosis, Parkinson s and
Alzheimer s diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cardiovascular disease and arthritis (AMA, 2016).
This article aims to examine how gene therapy can be used on patients with cystic fibrosis as well as
evaluate the various ethical concerns that surround it.

15th century, along with Rogier van der Weyden, Gentile da Fabriano, and Pisanello. It is particularly
interesting that Facio shows as much enthusiasm for Netherlandish painters as he does for Italian
painters. This text also sheds light on aspects of Jan van Eyck s production now lost. Jan van Eyck
likely had some knowledge of Latin for his many missions abroad on behalf of the Duke. Jan van
Eyck died in Bruges in 1441 and was buried there in the Church of St Donatian (destroyed during the
French Revolution). (From

Georgia Southern University Goal
Before leaving Georgia Southern University I want to reach two goals, my professional goal being to
be able to network with professionals in the electrical engineering field through an internship or co op
and academically to obtain and maintain a 4.0 GPA. To be able to reach these goals I will have to
reach out for help from various people within my inner circle. My inner circle consists of my
roommate David, my mom, my step dad and FYE professor Dr. Siddiqui. My roommate David can
help me with studies and attending meetings as he is working for many of the same goals as me. He
complements my goals but is working for a mechanical engineering internship so he looks at
everything a little bit differently than me. My mother can help to be telling ... Show more content on

Ronald Reagan Obstacles
There are many people in this world that are influential. These people fight for what they believe in,
they go after what they want, and go past obstacles that they face. An individual that shows these traits
would be the 40th president of the United States of America, Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan is
influential because of his beliefs, he fought for what he thought could be a better America, he also
went after what he wanted which was to become 40th president of the United States, he also went past
obstacles in his life one obstacle that he faced was winning his 2nd term Ronald Reagan, our 40th
president, made our country better.
Ronald Reagan fought for what he believed in. For example the website Ronald Reagan says Dealing

For example on whitehouse.gov it says Voters troubled by inflation and by the year long confinement
of Americans in Iran swept the Republican ticket into office . This shows me that since he was swept
into the office, he was probably nervous, he came over that and made a great 40th president. Another
example is that on history.com it says The couple divorced . This shows me that since he got in a
divorce, it was a very hard time for him, but he got remarried and had 2 more kids. Finally, on
whitehouse.gov it says On January 20, 1981, Reagan took office. Only 69 days later he was shot by a
would be assassin, but quickly recovered and returned to duty. This shows me that since he was shot
and almost killed it was not a happy time for him and he was rushed into office, but he healed quickly
and then returned to duty happy and healthy and that is all that matters. These are some obstacles that
Ronald Reagan faced in his life. Ronald Reagan our 40th president made our country better.
In conclusion Ronald Reagan was a very influential person in our world. He did what he believed,
went after what he wanted, and went past obstacles that he faced. If you have been a citizen of the
United States, then you would know how Ronald Reagan ran the country, and how he changed it in so
many ways. Ronald Reagan, our 40th president, made our country

Still I Rise By Maya Angelou And Where Is The Love, By The...
Do you ever feel that you are out of place, like a standout in a busy crowd? This is how it feels to be
discriminated against due to the colour of your skin. For more than 500 years, coloured people have
faced the threat of intrusion and violence; they have been used, abused and discriminated against due
to the colour of their skin, their religion or where they come from. In the 21st century racism is still
roaming the airs and it is still a common threat; there are currently laws in place to reduce the violence
that it brings but still we show ignorance. There have been many poems and songs created to portray
this issue; these include still I rise by the famous peace protestor Maya Angelou and Where is the love
by the world known band the Black Eyed Peas. Both of these pieces identify the pressing issues of
racism and discrimination that face our society every single day.
Still I Rise is a poem written by Maya Angelou. Through this poem, Angelou has used third person
which allows the audience to relate to the social issue that she is introducing. Maya Angelou
structured this poem in a certain way to be able to portray how much this issue meant to her
emotionally and historically. The aim of this poem is to make audiences throughout the whole world
aware of racism and discrimination. Maya wrote this piece to show that no matter how many times
white people discriminate against blacks that they will always find the positives in everything while
staying strong and

The Music Of The Song
A repetition of an upbeat piano piece, cheerful drum beats, and laughter from the audience, the
beginning of this song might lead you to believe this is a classic show tune. Nina Simone, the
songwriter and performer, certainly wants you to think this song is innocuous. She goes as far as to
describe this song as a show tune in the beginning of the lyrics. I believe, at Carnegie Hall back in
1964, she focused on this aspect of the song to let the white audience s guard down just long enough
to surprise them with a powerful message.
The song s instrumental is purposely deceptive, it s lively and repetitive. There is one subtle but
significant change in the chords during the song. As she reveals in her lyrics and tone that this is not
meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This grievous happening dramatically influenced Simone s views and music. She believed that non
violence was the correct way to fight prevalent racism. However, in her autobiography she mentions
how she attempted to make a home made pistol and kill somebody responsible after she saw the
incident on the news. The influence on her music was also significant. Before the bombing, Simone
concentrated her music career on folk and show tunes. However, enraged by the killings, she wrote
her first protest song, Mississippi Goddam. She wrote the song in an hour, which clearly explains the
raw rage, disappointment and disgust she displays in the lyrics (Cleary Simone, 1992).
Can t you see it? Can t you feel it? she asked to the white audience at Carnegie Hall, where the song
premiered. She expresses how she has lost faith in white America in the first verses, I don t belong
there. I ve even stopped believing in prayer. Her bluntness comes to a climax when she sings, oh, but
this whole country full of lies. You are all gonna die and die like flies. And then Simone desperately
pleads for the civil rights blacks have been denied for so long by saying, you don t have to live next to
me. Just give me my equality.
The audience and the nation was indubitably surprised by Simone s performance. Not only because of

3d Printing Has A Huge Future
3D Printing
One Emerging Technology field that is soon to change the game is 3D Printing. Though 3D Printers
have been around since the 1980 s, it hasn t been widely accessible or used until now. This is due to
the advances in technology, which allow 3D Printers to be created in a smaller form factor and used at
a much cheaper price. Throughout this paper, I will further go through more reason why I believe 3D
printing has a huge future. This paper s topics are broken up into various paragraphs, which will
discuss technology specifications, business value, examples of usage, competitive value, and my
analysis and perspective of 3D Printing technology.
Technology Specifications. As stated in the previous paragraph, the earliest known 3D Printers have
been around since the 1980 s. In 1984, advances made on the inkjet concept of printing transmuted
into printing with materials. The concept is closely related to the inkjet concept but during the early
stages of 3D printing, manufactures could not produce the necessary equipment at a cheap enough
price in order for the 3D printing phenomena to lift off. If you fast forward 20 years you will see that
technology has made a huge leap. This leap allowed for the necessary advances of the 3D Printing
industry that allowed for cheaper printer production cost. The following is a brief description of how
3D Printers work. Typical 3D Printers are composed of about 5 different parts: laser source, elevator,
vat, layered part, and

The fossil fuel consumption has also been increased to great extent. But it s over consumption is leading to various environmental issues like increased level of Carbon dioxide and various harmful gases in the environment and rise of Global Warming. So various approaches are being made to meet the world s increasing demand of energy.in the recent years, there has been great development in the field of power generation from the alternative sources of energy. Renewable energy projects are becoming more popular. • 4. Policy Changes are Needed in Our Education System Our society has become punitive when dealing with children, so much so that we are deemed, by other nations, the harshest western nation when it comes to juvenile policy and punishment. Unfortunately, this is a true statement when we look at our incarceration rates. Our states and federal prison, local jails, and juvenile detention center are overcrowded, with beds being filled the same day they are vacated. Specifically, our juvenile detention system is serving an alarming amount of children. In fact, it is estimated that 500,000 children enter juvenile detentions center every year, leading to the detention of more than 26,000 juveniles every day (Holman and Ziedenberg, 2006). Unfortunately, studies have found that disability rates among juveniles in detention average around 30% to 50% (Gemeignani, 1994). While some studies indicate the rate of disability is as high as 76% (Quinn et al., 2005). In contrast, the national average of disabilities is estimated at 10% (Butterworth Kovas, 2013). These factors have significant consequences on our society in general. Particularly on our incarceration rates of both juvenile and adults, the enormous cost of incarcerating individuals, the loss of taxpayers and family members, and the overtaxing of a system that cannot treat the large amount of children. The juvenile system differs from the adult system; they focus on the treatment of the child in hopes to repair the issues that have caused the delinquency. As we have seen in other ... So many political leaders sway towards what they believe the people feel they need and want their government to do about certain problems. • 7. Multiple Ideas In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald While writing The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald had many inspirations that helped him form what is considered the great American novel. Fitzgerald portrays multiple ideas throughout the story that closely relate to events in his own life in the early 1900s. He wanted his book to be different. He wanted to create something greater, with this work. The book is considered to be written closely to his own experiences, and could have been Nick Carraway or Jay Gatsby himself. When Fitzgerald first wrote Gatsby in the 1920s, it was not an instant sensation. Although all the copies from the first run of 20,870 sold, many copies from the second run languished in a warehouse until Fitzgerald s death in 1940 at the age of 44 (Lombardi). Ironically Fitzgerald based many different ideas in his novel, to events that were happening in his own life. Some articles suggest that Fitzgerald based the plot of Gatsby from two real life murders that he was influenced by. 1922 was also the year of the Hall Mills murders, a horrific double homicide full of the sort of salacious detail that turns a tragedy into tabloid fodder (Churchwood). The book Careless People expresses facts of the Hall Mills murders, and how closely related it was to the secret love between Daisy and Gatsby, and Tom and Myrtle Wilson. It is described that an adulterous couple, Edward Hall and Eleanor Mills, who were both married to other people, were found dead side by side on rural property; a popular spot for couples. When Zizek embarks on the mission to explain to the viewer what the theories behind the film are, he shows some of the most gruesome and emotional scenes of the film. However, although his theories seem almost too complex to understand, they play a role in exploring the fine line between Christianity and Atheism. What does Zizek mean when he claims that Christianity is more atheist than Atheism? Can something be more related to its counterpart than the counterpart itself? Such a question can only be explored by examining the progression of Zizek s argument. For Zizek, such a question is true when applied to the Christianity displayed in the film. If Atheism is the disbelief in God, then the Christianity in the film is inherently more Atheist because it completely disintegrates God, the Big Other. The film begins the process of revealing Christianity s Atheist characteristics with the idea of hysteria. Slavoj Zizek proposes the idea of hysteria playing a role in the life of Jesus Christ. While dozens of religions have been established with unique and varying elaborations on this question, the three principal Abrahamic religions stand out for their massive accumulations of devoted followers. And though the fundamentals of the Abrahamic religions are inherently different, they all share similar ideology on the afterlife. Furthermore, these three religions homogeneously stress the importance of prayer as a means to achieve fulfillment. And although there are many parallel ideas and practices, these religions also host an abundance of differences. Namely, the difference in the interpretation of the Old and New Testaments. Moreover, Abrahamic religions even draw differences in their dietary restrictions. One of the more interesting points of concurrence in the three major Abrahamic religions is the belief in an afterlife. Though conditions of the afterlife in Abrahamic religions vary, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism all emphasize the importance of staying in god s grace in order to ascend to a variation of heaven after the physical body dies here on Earth. • 24. The Effects Of Hormones On The Body s Central Glucocorticoid Upon activation by an emotional or physical stressor, corticotropic releasing hormone (CRH) is released from the paraventricular cells of the hypothalamus and exerts its effect on the anterior pituitary gland Here, CRH stimulates the synthesis of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and its release into the bloodstream [19,20]. In turn, ACTH acts on receptors of the adrenal cortex to stimulate the synthesis and release of cortisol [19,20]. Also known as the body s stress hormone , cortisol travels through the blood in both protein bound (inactive) and free (active) forms. Cortisol can act to limit its own synthesis via a negative feedback mechanism to the hypothalamus and pituitary gland [19,20]. Upon reaching a target cell, free cortisol diffuses through the cell membrane to bind to the cytoplasmic glucocorti coid receptor [19,20]. This ligand receptor complex translocates to the nucleus where it binds glucocorticoid response elements to affect transcription of target genes [19,20]. As our body s central glucocorticoid, cortisol has many actions. These include gluconeogenesis, lipolysis, modulating the immune system, increase of blood pressure and insulin resistance [19,20]. Cortisol is metabolized by 11 beta hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 to its inactive form, cortisone [19,20 GOW Stress can be broadly defined as any stimulus that disrupts homeostasis, with the stress response referring to physiological and behavioral reactions to such a stimulus (Selye, 1950). Only 69 days later he was shot by a would be assassin, but quickly recovered and returned to duty. • 42. Still I Rise By Maya Angelou And Where Is The Love, By The... Do you ever feel that you are out of place, like a standout in a busy crowd? This is how it feels to be discriminated against due to the colour of your skin. For more than 500 years, coloured people have faced the threat of intrusion and violence; they have been used, abused and discriminated against due to the colour of their skin, their religion or where they come from. In the 21st century racism is still roaming the airs and it is still a common threat; there are currently laws in place to reduce the violence that it brings but still we show ignorance. There have been many poems and songs created to portray this issue; these include still I rise by the famous peace protestor Maya Angelou and Where is the love by the world known band the Black Eyed Peas. Both of these pieces identify the pressing issues of racism and discrimination that face our society every single day. Still I Rise is a poem written by Maya Angelou. Through this poem, Angelou has used third person which allows the audience to relate to the social issue that she is introducing. Maya Angelou structured this poem in a certain way to be able to portray how much this issue meant to her emotionally and historically. The aim of this poem is to make audiences throughout the whole world aware of racism and discrimination. Maya wrote this piece to show that no matter how many times white people discriminate against blacks that they will always find the positives in everything while staying strong and ... • 43. The Music Of The Song A repetition of an upbeat piano piece, cheerful drum beats, and laughter from the audience, the beginning of this song might lead you to believe this is a classic show tune. Nina Simone, the songwriter and performer, certainly wants you to think this song is innocuous. She goes as far as to describe this song as a show tune in the beginning of the lyrics. I believe, at Carnegie Hall back in 1964, she focused on this aspect of the song to let the white audience s guard down just long enough to surprise them with a powerful message. The song s instrumental is purposely deceptive, it s lively and repetitive. There is one subtle but significant change in the chords during the song. As she reveals in her lyrics and tone that this is not meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This grievous happening dramatically influenced Simone s views and music. She believed that non violence was the correct way to fight prevalent racism. However, in her autobiography she mentions how she attempted to make a home made pistol and kill somebody responsible after she saw the incident on the news. The influence on her music was also significant. Before the bombing, Simone concentrated her music career on folk and show tunes. However, enraged by the killings, she wrote her first protest song, Mississippi Goddam. She wrote the song in an hour, which clearly explains the raw rage, disappointment and disgust she displays in the lyrics (Cleary Simone, 1992). Can t you see it? Can t you feel it? she asked to the white audience at Carnegie Hall, where the song premiered. She expresses how she has lost faith in white America in the first verses, I don t belong there. I ve even stopped believing in prayer. Her bluntness comes to a climax when she sings, oh, but this whole country full of lies. You are all gonna die and die like flies. And then Simone desperately pleads for the civil rights blacks have been denied for so long by saying, you don t have to live next to me. Just give me my equality. The audience and the nation was indubitably surprised by Simone s performance. Not only because of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. 3d Printing Has A Huge Future 3D Printing One Emerging Technology field that is soon to change the game is 3D Printing. Though 3D Printers have been around since the 1980 s, it hasn t been widely accessible or used until now. This is due to the advances in technology, which allow 3D Printers to be created in a smaller form factor and used at a much cheaper price. Throughout this paper, I will further go through more reason why I believe 3D printing has a huge future. This paper s topics are broken up into various paragraphs, which will discuss technology specifications, business value, examples of usage, competitive value, and my analysis and perspective of 3D Printing technology. Technology Specifications. As stated in the previous paragraph, the earliest known 3D Printers have been around since the 1980 s. In 1984, advances made on the inkjet concept of printing transmuted into printing with materials. The concept is closely related to the inkjet concept but during the early stages of 3D printing, manufactures could not produce the necessary equipment at a cheap enough price in order for the 3D printing phenomena to lift off. If you fast forward 20 years you will see that technology has made a huge leap. This leap allowed for the necessary advances of the 3D Printing industry that allowed for cheaper printer production cost. The following is a brief description of how 3D Printers work. Typical 3D Printers are composed of about 5 different parts: laser source, elevator, vat, layered part, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
